"And we're halfway through our new series for the new season called an wrapping. Christmas is all about giving and that means is all about god. God is giver. His given us birth in life family and friends time and talent opportunities in advancements god is a generous giver. At christmas we celebrate that god gave us his very son. Perhaps the most famous line and all of scripture sums it up best for god so loved the world. He gave his only beloved son and the son lead the world so much. He gave his life for us on the cross that we might have life in him. God loves so god gives. That's the nature of god in in our heart of hearts. That's what we all want. We want to be givers last week. We looked at the gift of giving people are presents. The story of the bible isn't about humanity search for god is about god's desire to be with his people and unfortunately people sometimes lacks the desire to do the same. Your presents matters because it shows what in who you value it also matters because it shows your support for others is easy for us to think of generosity in giving us just a liable for larger than life heroes like saint francis or mother theresa. But that's not so nearly every moment of every day we have opportunities to give something to someone else and giving doesn't require an extraordinary an extraordinary service or heroic virtue it simply involves thinking of others more over and over again. Scripture teaches us that there are rewards for giving and this begins through giving to the low to the lowliest and less fortunate. Because when we give this way is giving the god. It's not like giving to god. It is giving to god. Scripture says whatever you did for the least of these you did it to me. In the season of advent we always hear from the book of isaiah. This sunday averse that practically defines the season is when god tells the prophet to write comfort. Give comfort to. My people says your god isaiah is addressing the people of israel in their defeat at the hands of their enemies and their exiled from their homeland. They were in distress disarray. Being separated from their home they felt far from god as well. The prophet speaks words of comfort because their situation is about to change. God has decided that he is going to change their situation giving the gift of his son. There are certainly literal opportunities to do this. Act of giving all around us all the time. And i won't to share a specific opportunity with you today about a month ago. "With him a few just a few times, but I'm not able yeah character Incredible Giver. I just want to help people. Yeah. Yeah. So what are some of the biggest takeaways mccarrick Camp? Well, one of the coolest song Is that we did is like we set challenges so they might challenge is locally in my community. I've started what Christina is working on it for me finding a good location for us to start our own meet up not real estate Folks at all. Just entrepreneurial right especially since we have a really huge military background with three or four military for military bases being in that Central Area. Oh, wow, how'd you to essentially if people are holding back not wanting to start something and they just have like this little bit of spirit in them that they feel like they are wanting to do something different but they can come they can speak to me and took my experience is transitioning out in 2015 to kind of where I'm at now and and and fostering that locally in the community and then trying to give back as much possible. So that was like my number one giveaway or my number one choice takeaway was to take action sooner than later because you know, we see what happened. You know, we're we're we're curious at now where Trevor's that now and and in the business but home Don't see all the other things that Trevor did to kind of get to build that community and that took you know years to accomplish and I haven't even started yet. Right all because off and I've been in Fort Walton Beach now for almost three years four years three years, you know, if I were to start three years ago when I decided that I wanted to start being, you know doing this who knows where I would have been a strange that's big thing. The second thing is that I really want to office. I know that's not like a huge segue but I really want to office be able build more impact on my community. And then the next thing is that people who are successful in real estate general aren't always on Instagram. Yeah. Oh that's definitely true found that quite a bit when I was in Collective genius. Yeah. There's a whole lot of people are really successful that you have no idea where they're yeah. So make a make a stronger faith. Make a larger effort trying to network with people who aren't on Instagram versus those that are right. I think people on Instagram are good too. But your local connections inside your community can be the difference of this person who's in the Chamber of Commerce or this person who knows the council man or this person who knows this person getting a deal or getting you know, a development projects that you would have probably no chance of getting so I find the people who know the people network with the people and that's that's really important. Awesome. So young people that are watching this show right now or maybe later that don't believe in in in masterminding or paying, you know for personal development. Yeah care to share your thoughts on that. Yeah. I love to I think one of the funniest things earlier to talk about like I called, you know in in Alice presbury we talked about the myths the myths of Entrepreneurship rain the those questions off..

If the election were held today, that would not happen, and I'm not predicting it'll happen in seventeen months. I'm just noting that a lot can change in that time right now is a pretty good time. I think for Republicans with the state of the economy and the general dissension within the ranks of the Democratic Party, it could change but ride a lot rather be a Republican a democrat at this particular moment. Chris in fort Walton Beach, Florida joins us now. Hello, chris. Yes, sir. I wanna say good morning, but good evening. Either way, you're. The speeches. Okay, your calls, greater October. Okay. I wasn't alive at the Gettysburg address. We're any of us. Yeah. Right. It was a great speech. And then John Fitzgerald Kennedy's. What can you do for your country, which I was alive, then it's all that. Yeah. And then I forgot to tell her laurel Reagan's you know, care down this wall. Yes, I'm a big rural. I'm Reaganite but, but speak that President Trump gave. It almost brought me to tears. I mean, this is got to be one of the greatest speeches. If you know if Florida we got Eglin Air Force base in herbal field special ops and everything here in, we're military tail but I was raised my country, but in. Guess it was such a great speak. You know, I agree. And I looked into it on the radio. Yeah, but no, it was. It's, you know. It was a great speech. I agree thoroughly Chris one thing I would note, by the way that you may not know about the Gettysburg address it was royally, panned at the time, the press, it was an embarrassment that it, it was it was too short. This was the era of the log speech, and I guess it was Edward Everett Horton was the main speaker, Lincoln was kind of an afterthought. I gave this long stem winding speech that really has not stood the test of time. But everybody thought speech was wonderful at the time. The Gettysburg address was looked on as kind of an embarrassment sad. But true, here's a Gill our listener in Manila Philippines. Hello. Gil. Good evening. You're right. "Four startling on Sundays. I'm James Parker. And this is Florida story. Thank you for. I Florida story. We're going down to Miami, Florida. We're on spring break. Nine year old boy was home, and he was supposed to be taking care of his homework that was assigned to him over spring break. I kind of sadistic teacher would do that. Nonetheless, Florida, mom, maybe care. Just a little too much. She yelled at her son to do his homework, apparently he argued with her and she became irate. She threw a water bottle at him missed. She threw her cell phone Adam missed then she grabbed a glass candle holder hit him in the head. Didn't that time grabbed a metal meet tenderizer while screaming and swinging wildly? She manages to hit him in the head twice causing lacerations and also hits him in the arm bad enough that one of the little spike marks started bleeding. She's been booked into jail for child abuse. But no word on whether or not he finished his homework. Home aveer. Or next story. Let's go down to fort Walton Beach, Florida thirty seven years old partying with his girlfriend and a shady motel near the beach after a full day of smoking. Crystal, meth, Florida man becomes suspicious that is girlfriend is cheating on him. And where and where is this man that sleeping with his girlfriend Florida man suspects that he may be in the mattress? So he rips the bedpost off the bed from the shady motel room and stabs the mattress repeatedly with bedposts he rips the mattress apart looking for the man, there's no man there girl tries to leave. He blocks the door won't let her leave. Finally, when he gets into round three with the mattress, she sneaks out the door and goes and gets the cops. And what did you do last Thursday home aveer? For next Florida story, we go down to Orlando, Florida or Florida woman her heart's in the right place. She routinely rescues kittens. But a woman this time dropped off what looked like to be a baby cheetah? We don't know who this woman is she just drops kittens off at the fire department every once in a while. So the firemen, luckily, there's not a fire they had time to Google it. And I'm like, I'm not sure this is the cheetah that local game warden stop by. And she said, no, this isn't a cheetah. "I never have an issue with any of them unless you know, await that price is wrong on the on the the rang up wrong. It says it's on sale. It has nothing to do with the character of the individuals. And if it is if I do ever have a problem, it's based on behavior that they've put on display, and it doesn't matter what their skin color is or their background is. I just don't know. How else you could look at it, except if your mindset is always focused completely on that. Because what what an exhausting way to live. Well, it would be because there's a number of them that believe they're going to be the hero. They're going to be the hero for minority groups. They're going to be the hero. I'll I'll be an assistant to anybody who asks me to be of assistance. I will. I don't have a problem helping people if they need help guy was trying to fix his car actually jump start at the other day at a shopping center. Pretty nice car, by the way. I I get up a jumper cables, we get the job done. He goes on about his day. I didn't care that his skin color was different than mine. The guy needed help. I walked up and said, hey, you need some help. He said. Yeah. You got jumper cables. End of story. I helped a woman or remember that remember that? Remember, I got a call from the woman in fort Walton Beach, Florida, the yeah. Who grabbed me like thirty years later on the air with you instead of just wanted to call. I don't even remember it. But she said my car wouldn't start Wendy in this young man comes up, and he had the jumper cables. And I jumped her car for her Shurmur that thirty years later was and I told her I was a local radio guy at that, Thomas and music, right? She remembered that you had said that and she remembered me. Me to thirty years later. She remembered that for and called the show and said, I don't know if you remember it, but you jumped my vehicle blew me away. 'cause I don't even remember. Day or you're supposed to it's not even something you go. I have to do it doesn't make you a hero. Right. It's just part of it. It's what you do. Yeah. I can't imagine thinking any other way, you're right on it would.

"All goes back Seinfeld. When when you said, Jerry, that's my Buddy's name. So that's roughly talking about Jerry Seinfeld. Yes. Yes. I I. People have asked me. Well, you got plans to move to Florida when you retire. Well, I don't know if I ever retire. I'm having too much fun doing this. But I said probably not I lived. I lived in Navarre Florida between Pensacola and fort Walton beach for almost three years now lived on the intercoastal waterway. But I was close enough. I was a, you know, two minutes across the Navarre bridge right to the. Right to the Gulf corp- coast, some of the whitest sands on the planet where I would. I've never forget one time driving home was right before Christmas before going back to New York. And this is probably eighty three eighty four and I'm driving home. And the next day. I was going to New York. I remember driving home and the the sand dunes were so white. I was thinking they were snow and still eighty Alpina. But you know, it's interesting at night. They, you know, the the the reflection off of that white sand is pretty cool. See I've been to Pensacola few times, then and it was, you know, the March April still kind of cool, but walking along the beach after the sun goes down, and you can still see things because of the reflection, and and I and I so I did my beach thing for three years in my twenties. And you know, that's a body served Hobie. Recanted actually have trophy from a Hobie cat race. Did all that kind of was at sale surfing, whatever call it surf sailing up. Did all did all that stuff? Had that thing where I was in music radio at that time so had that. But also understood how that when you live on the beach on weekends your metabolism and everything slows down completely mean. Life is just shut off. I have had that field. I hit my twenties. And it was great. But when I visit my when I visit my my buddy this weekend and his wife. The palm trees will be there and everything else, and it's almost like a dream world that I can't live that way in a normal life anymore. I don't know. What it is. I go there. I enjoy every aspect of it. Now, maybe we'll go to Clearwater beach again, which is always great to sit at Clearwater. But. When i'm. Where I live now in Texas is very much because there's a there's an escarpment which is like three or four miles of rolling hills right up against my lake. It looks like New York. I don't know what it is. But I really I just don't want that. I don't wanna live in a palm tree climate. I can't explain it as much as I love going there to visit. I don't wanna don't wanna do that. I like I like living by with more trees, more traditional trees and evergreens. And you know, a lot of the trees that you'll see up north even have down here in the south. I like hills and mountains. Yeah. I I don't mind visiting the beach, but I like mountains same with me. I just I liked for some reason there's a comfort and our leg buttresses right up against this escarpment, which is probably about you've got rolling hills with maybe eight hundred thousand feet high as a call, but Dallas hill country, and so nice little rolling hills about four or five miles long and you drive through them. And you're like, wow, this is really great. Yeah. The Texas hill country is beautiful. Yes. It is family of land down there. Yes. It is really great to just cut up through the middle of Texas, especially this time of year. I love at this time of year. Yeah. But the real mountains we have to go to Colorado were out to the Sierras. And and so I love going there. I just wouldn't Florida. I I don't know much as I love it as much as I loved my time in Navarre Florida because I was a beach bum. I've really really was I I did a morning. Rock radio show and did all the stuff that you know, he's supposed to do and rock radio and all the live appearances, and then weekends and even the things that we did promotions. Everything we did was on the water, and it was great honor forget being in a Hobie cat race. And you know there are dolphins. There. We are in this race on the hatch e bay outside of fort Walton beach. It was February. So we're all in wetsuits because water was still Colton and these dolphins role just as we're racing jump. Right. I mean you. Yeah. That when that happened. I went well doesn't matter. If that never happens again, I experienced at once. It's like when I went up in the F16. with the Thunderbirds. I will tell you though, after that I will have say after I went up with the in the sixteen with the Thunderbirds. And and we said at the end of the runway for ten minutes before we took off and your patients just building up. My blood pressure must have been five thousand over one thousand and then we took off and he's okay. Let's take off in your own. You're only about probably fifty feet off the ground and goes, okay? Let's go straight up found a hole in the cloud. We go straight up through the cloud turnaround. We're upside down over the clouds probably thirty thousand feet like that over the clouds, and I can see mount rainier from two hundred miles away outside Seattle upside down in an F sixteen at that point. I said I don't need to do anything else in my life. I can die. Right. You've seen mount rainier upside down. So I can I that's really that thoughts always been through my head. It's like what else could I experience, and I still haven't seen the Grand Canyon yet. And you know, I I wanna do stuff like that. And and their stuff people say do you want to travel worldwide? I said there's so much stuff. I'll never get to see in America that I wanna see that. You know? I don't know. Maybe I will in a few years if I ever retire. But once you're retiring this business, you can't get two weeks off. Unless you do a cruise with an advertiser and take listeners to Europe to Europe. And that doesn't happen that doesn't happen on this show. Now, they can't take two weeks off. So that's really out. So it's like if I want to travel to retire. So there's really so many places I'd like to see in the United States, maybe some in Alaska. Probably but Alaska state troopers, maybe wanna see Alaska. Yeah. I mean that kind of scenery to me that's always going to be a draw. And then high definition TV maybe when when I got my first one in all these different nature programs. Here is Alaska. Yeah. And you know, some parts of candidate, and I'll never get to see all of it. But look I got to be upside down. With the Thunderbirds. And they they didn't let us break the speed of sound though. No, no. But we did a notion barge we did zoom past it. We did a fly by of it and turned on the smoke and all the people came out on the deck and were waving to us. We're seventy miles off the coast of the Pacific from Portland that was cool to drop a sandwich or something. No. But I, but I spotted it before the pilot. I said look there's a ship because you caught up before. I did let's Buzim go fight with me. But he said since we can't break the speed of sound went allow them to do it. We went as close as you can get and as low as you could get to the water without being dangerous and near some clouds. So you got a feeling of how fast you're going? You know, when you're watching, you know, the seven hundred mile an hour, Mark, right? Yeah. So that was an I they let me let me fly. I did the eight point turn the six point term, whatever it was. He did it perfectly someday. You gotta see the video of me tempting to do it. Yeah. Right. I didn't do it as well. As the pilot. Yeah. I'm guessing there's a reason for that. Yeah. I had something to do with a word called training. But you know, what really impresses me more than the experience. The professionalism. Of not just the pilots but the ground crew. Yeah. And we sat the next day after the show was over and everything else because I got to hang out with them. And I was able to go to their party and everything else, but the professionalism blows you away, and you you walk away from that. I never thought that that's really when I really learned that people will blow me away more than an experience will. Yeah. Growing up around air force bases in the military, all my life. I it. It was interesting when you move into a more civilian territory and people didn't act that way. Especially by the time. I got I guess to junior high school. Maybe my freshman year. More and more experience away from military settings. And it was it was interesting that that wasn't always that way. You were expecting. You know, the the yes, sir. And the no, sir. And of course salutes. My dad was a non commissioned officer. So he had to salute all of the officers, and you. You're you. It's a different. It's a different world. It's a different tastes different world. But you have extremely knowledgeable and professional people that know how to get the job done. With without question. No. And and so I was so impressed by by that. But yeah. And we started off by saying happy January happy winter. Eight six six ninety redeye. Tips from JJ Keller and associates Inc.
