"Had that happen to me a lot. Oh i got the only. I don't really. I don't know is there. Is there any values to just meeting someone or shaking the hand and say i had a brief interaction with such and such. Oh i got you got. You got to have one at it. I wasn't expecting to turn around. Arnold schwarzenegger is right there. Like walking into the room as a like literally. I'm bumping into him. And i forget he's like where they're like it's a buffet table and just like uncomfortably said Oh yeah he was like. Oh yeah the food's over there deserts over there. And i just like walked off awkwardly one though i have the best one in the world So the rock always drives himself to fight this a cool and so like i do a show whatever ideal fang. I wasn't very good that night. It's made me and dimitris johnson. We're doing all the purple couch. I'm like frustrated. People are like not getting where they're supposed to be. There's a hold up. And i'm just trying to get like me into mitri us out of there just to relieve some of the damn congestion in the back. Something happened in the fight. To so like there's just a cluster. Right in the back house you know. And so i'm knocking on cars. Hey you here griffin johnson. Hair your jobs. So i'm not i don't even look i say hey are you here for griffin and johnson. I look over. It's the rock and ghost. I could be. And then. I saw that he like recognized who i was and then i just like. I didn't know what to do. I was just like wendy shock and the funny thing is my daughter. Had like a mwana themed birthday like right later and i should actually said. Hey just real quick and say from you. Know from who africa's characters name but we watch a movie thousand times and i was like. Oh sorry sorry wrong. Car just like quickly walked up. You missed you too. He was ready to talk to me. He's like hey did it. I was like oh. She's been like. I'll take in right now. Mr rock no. He was like what could be. But that's a cool derivative of being in the business and that's like one of those moments where you like cheese. That was a cool moment. I mean i could just embarrassed myself in front of a person who wasn't famous but instead i embarrassed myself to really famous person. That's much better. You know. I think. I think stuff like that like i know what you're getting at before like does that add value to your life. It's not about value to your life. It's more about like that was a cool interaction. Because i'm i chose this path. I got to have that ax of cool stories. Tell it a bar i guess. Yeah a lot of barroom stories right. I think so i don i. I think i have good dinnertime conversation. I'm not quite if somebody started telling the stories. Like i'm telling you i'm be like oh you're dropping stuff everywhere. Yeah you do. But that's what this show is. The show is the place you need like a cooler. All those this is the spot to drop it all. Okay people wanna know people want to know what you run into an because people think it might be more glamorous than it is people like walking around there in this fifty buck naked. Chicks running around you know they. They don't understand. What's the cool factor. It is like i know like triple h and those guys were walking around in there the other day. That's fucking cool like he was freaking hilarious. I didn't know that. I had like a positive like i didn't. I wasn't one way or the other..

"But once they opened up it has to be exciting to be able to be like. Hey we might go here. And the first couple years. I worked for your see. I got to travel light thirty or forty times. And i got to see some great hotels in some great Venues some great airports. And what was your favorite some great hotel bars. And that's really about it. What was your favorite now I actually i shock. I had to grow time in dublin. It's not shocking. But why dublin. Oh man no the the one that will surprise you. Krakow krakow poland is amazing. I haven't been that. I hear a lot austria on. I have not been austria. But here i am ashamed to say because that's glock is but i but i've heard austria's gorgeous and i haven't had the chance to go. I've heard that too and they were like you're you're not invited invited. He said now the other thing. That's come on strong is. Us's branches since video games and other things and you've been been a part of that but now again cards going back into cards and the trading cards everything like that. It's a lot of fun to see as a professional sports group that it branch out into that does that humble you as a guy who's one of the guys. There's an old timer who've been around forever and and just kind of seeing that evolution. We're gonna fucking video game. Like i thought it was cool at three on the cover of the math. That was amazing So briefly tried to learn how to play video games. I don't do video games. Man i had. Adhd's kid and i'll be like Cool i can as a kid now but what. You just got eight thousand screens brothers. There's so much interesting happening here. I know it. We try to make it fun. That's my office is boring. How i haven't seen your office in there. i've been. I've been upstairs by haven't senior upstairs downstairs. No i'm upstairs in the pi. Like right next to the matt's where i belong. Fuck yeah that's where you are in the room. I gotta go in there. Maybe it's it's gorgeous in their. Invite you but your pets. It's gorgeous in there though it is. It's a great place to work. It's actually like yeah. It is yeah you he has okay guys step below this point everybody listening. Okay we're forced upstairs. You have a gorgeous set. Matt's bags his office literally sits next to an entire jim at his disposal and whoever's training in there and i know it says a boxing ring. Then you get to see some bad ass. People come in and do some bad shit. And there's a lotta shit you don't see that goes on there like i know. Gordon ryan's been up there doing jitsu. I know guys that have been up there. It's everybody shacks. It's fun to people from other organizations. Come in right. So there's you think about the guys like at henry. Hoofs jim right they you know you got a ton of guys from other organizations they come in with the guys from the afc like you can have two or three train partners. I also that's fine in your time. Has anyone been banned from the building. no i don't think so but i've wanted to. You've wanted to yeah. Is there anyone in particular that he wanted name. This are we now. Have you ever. "They make those closed Closed events in the apex again. Right and that's where they'll stay now. The ufc fights will travel but they obviously have to travel to venues. That are that are accepting. Is there any on the horizon. That maybe i've been talking about. I know i know like places like mexico. City have to be huge for dana down the line. Obviously there's certain other areas that. I know that you guys have your eye on. Is there anywhere else that you guys have been talking about. Iran mexico city is a good one huge. All this stuff in africa. I would love to do something over in africa. I got to go over there. Once was very young and kind of be amazing. Yeah i had a big impact on me. So you know i love the love cruise through nigeria and see what that's about. Is there any any weight anything. Maybe in australia or I guess that would be interesting. i guess what everybody pitcher to fight island like going back in. That would be exciting originally when we were talking about that on here. Even we were talking like that could be alligator pits. Something like that could be spears. There could be something crazy. You guys went back. Pre your see one right bright. So what i was conan. That was cool conan. The barbosa wait dole. A i was gonna say. Have you ever been in the room. When crazy ideas have been tossed around like we need put fire around the ring or something. No nothing like that. Unfortunately but i know around. Ufc one originally they wanted. It would be me sanford anyway and then everybody just that guy was that guy talking about now. The rumor was around. You have c. One through three that they wanted like an alligator petters was like a shock. Pet that's on the What is it on. It's on the Some documentary on one of the twenty for twenty or whatever the twenty minute yo see. Shorts is like one of those like cartoon. Yeah do you feel like that was a that was amiss by the promotion. No so hey. That's a that's a funny story. I saw the. I thought it was stupid right. I i watched it in high school. My buddy locked shop teacher out and we watched it on like a little rolling. Classic friday shop teachers like bang dorm or sitting there. Watching the cnn like geysers talking to each other. There's like idiots. They don't look like athletes. It looked like looks like gaza couldn't cut it pro wrestling What are these. Losers has got pajamas on adnan here pajamas. What was going on so you know there was so much weird shit and cnn. You've talked about the thousand times but there was some good that came out of the early. Ufc especially the early earlier's particularly you know. There are guys wearing one boxing glove. There was guys. You know maximus around gloves. Yeah the gloves. Were a huge change when they came in and in getting the the ufc legitimize is there any areas that countries are places. I know paris opened up for you guys that you're excited about or you're looking at your like cheese you know. Can't wait to you said africa but like paris has to be exciting china france. I don't know too much. Rather france stuff to be honest. And i think that's the announced it wouldn't see on what's going to happen but i don't have any like like i don't think i'm releasing top-secret all i know is literally the i've only read the release that you've read is that But i think that's just a colbert problem. "And i didn't get in there and fighting him you probably. I'm over to your house to help you fix. I've been his dinner. Yeah so. I think that there's guys like that. There's guys like eric and there's certain dudes out there that are just the dudes and they don't necessarily need to create a story. Is that something that they do. All independent on their own or you ever like. Do you guys over there ever like. Hey you got you really be good if you added a wrinkle. I'm i'm Do you stay out of that game. I want you to perform best in the octagon. And i want you to be smart with your yourself and your life anything. Somebody does that like as far as that. That's not really not much. Yeah we need to get that. I was thinking of getting rid of the jim because yeah i was thinking of getting rid of the saw. No offense to birth. We love you but maybe we get rid of the on it like the home exercise equipment where it becomes a dagenham covert. Cova hanger goldfish hanger. Yeah it's it's like your laundry guys. Where i was gonna ask you. You guys just tore the pi up. I've got to ask you that you live with yourself. They don't wanna. I wanna swallow an exhaust pipe every night. We we gotta gotta psychologist. But he's performance base. It can help. I can't perform now. You guys just tore up the guy. It's like four years old and you know in this world that's old that's too old. It's all at a day. Yeah all better south. The gym needed a little. Bit of a reynaud. It looks like it was designed by a lunatic. That was designed But yeah now. I gotta learn allman shit. All new took me a long time. Also but they're checking it out. It's going to be nice. It's gonna be nice and we'll see i. i'm. I'm honestly. I you know i didn't get the be involved that i may or may not have seen the blueprint. Yeah and i've seen the blueprint. But i i you know. "That's a good line You know and thank you to everybody that sends the super chats in. We appreciate it. Thanks bagels think michael walker. Thank you guys in And i'll show you guys out at the end to appreciate everybody who's commenting. I wanna ask you you around. A lot of champions now champion mentality is something. I've talked valentine about and talked to a few fighters about and it's interesting to me. Listen to yeah. She had a good episode in she. So laser focused awesome. And when you come across that it has to be a special thing. Do you see so much of that. Do you see too little of that. In the pi and around the fighters no man she. She's a special entity. Right i So there's there's no too much or too little right. There's what works for them. I get to spend a lot of time around brandon merano right now and i love his attitude. He's having fun man he wants to like. He's not a mean guy but he wants to fight being a fight. It's not a job. it's just like something. Really cool he gets to do. So there's there's there's a ton of different ways to approach it. So i certainly would never say one is right or wrong It obviously valentinas right for her. Hey when jones was fighting. He's he's Approach is right for him. When one chocolate was having his most success he was still partying. Pretty hard. right you know. So there's everybody has got the way they find their balanced the way they live their life. You know some people. I've known a lot of guys all in one hundred percent in everything in train all day every day. Post fight posters of their house. Two years later the burned out. It's like the you know the kid in high school. Football is pretty good but it's dad. Wants them to be really good and he pushes pushes kid ends a payton. So i've seen people do that themselves. So there's no right or wrong formula and right now again like we do the pi. It's individualized and customized customized tailored to that. Come on down and sign up it's You know with her. It's a special kind of focus. And i think everybody's a little bit different in their approach to whatever is that they're doing they're focused on other dealing with and i think everybody takes a different approach. I think what. I've seen the most in a lot of fighters in what i like to ask them and when i'm going back and forth to them as i like to see what they do in their personal life and i'd like to see what they do in their versus their professional persona whatever it is and understand kind of how they came to that place and that's how they process things and that's how they push things or that's how they digest things zoned out. What was the question. So i try to. I try to figure out what the fighters like where that medium is between being laser focused and not only and they have some now because of the obviously the rise of the persona thing. Who's the real person. And what's the persona. And that's i think there's absolutely some to that and i like the idea of leaving the house and putting the coat on for lack of a better word putting it on you walk in the gym. You put it on right and that's fine. You'd like phase change exercises you think about. I'm here this. I'm this person i'm here. I'm this person. I and then to try to you know compartmentalize and transition when you go home to not be that person. I never had anything fight related in my house. Nothing nothing so. When he came home it was like off. I mean i've watched fights at the house but that's it you know i'm watching him for fun If i'm gonna watch tape of an opponent..

"I need to get back and law enforcement in you. Know your back and then And then i kinda. I dunno i made it a little bit more and then I got a couple of fights. And then i got a call from joe silva ufc said. Hey we can use the in february light-heavyweight. I had to fight in brazil. Ninth december Novem late november. And i reached down for kick broke my broke my little arm. There broke. That happens a lot right and then you know again same thing and then i was like all right. I literally cut my cast off. I had i had been applying for law enforcement jobs at the same time i cut. My castoff did finally got a job. But but i didn't tell the story very good. 'cause i'm just glossing over but i failed the psychological. I failed the polygraph. Like everybody because i knew people knew me. I had friends. So i was able to get in and get interviews. But i just kept blowing them. I always put my job as the rich mocatta shares too. Because what i've said in the interview. The old guy asked me like like this. This is why i got the job. This is no polygraph. Nothing it was like an old guy eight if it's an old chief. Yeah yeah you know Have you ever thought about killing your southbound. Yeah sure why not. Of course like you know. Everybody has like see the look like shit. That was the wrong answer because we were having you like not really. Maybe anybody else like well. You know like who hasn't thought about try to give a philosophical answer. Hasn't really thought sometimes show that no one hundred percent look me dead nine said some people. We hire police officers here. That's who hasn't thought about killing themselves. That i was like okay but it's still got the job. Yeah that's funny. I got the job. Did you ever share that part of the story. that's funny. I don't know i mean i've i've talked about like i had to cut my cast off to do the fiscal yeah. That's not as impressive as telling that to the chiefs still got me. He got me though because he was good. He was like old guy you know..

I think i need to. I think i need to get a bigger one. This is the average penis. I mean were outnumbered so listen. I love having you and it's been a while i've been trying to chase after you for a minute. I'm not giving you the sex in different now. Everybody seems to see it from the outside. But i feel like no. I think you're doing some of your best work now with the fighters that's what i keep telling people that's what i think though fell by that ship. That'd be great. Yeah and everybody seems to love what you do. Can you describe for everybody. So they understand the role that you play at the ufc. Yeah well i mean so..

So why did this asshole wince from australia put out a tweet saying that her acrylic nails in her long hair were size of steroids use. I saw that headline. And i didn't have a chance to dig into it. I'm like i don't even to get into this plan. That was wasn't the worst part of what she saved. The worst part of what he did was he went on to say that forrest griffin dorner died from steroids in her official autopsy. Says he died from a suffocating from To seize right so you it was. There was no purpose in you. Do bring this. Lady's name is dead dead name into anything that was going right especially when considering the girls hair and nails aren't hers at all well and the other thing is There there are plenty of people who have acrylic nails that are not international athletes. I don't know that that's a sign of she saying every black woman is on steroids. Green is what you say right. Basically yeah i know comes on the heels of the olympic trials where the where the one athlete. There's three three athletes on the podium and the bronze medalist who is african american. When they played the anthem just put her hands on her hips. And look down the other two immediately. If we're like this is not okay. And they're like yeah but she wants to represent america. Yeah that's part of what america is and if she's if she's the third best trials guess what she gets to do it as long as she doesn't test dirty for something then she gets to do it. She didn't do anything illegal. She didn't do anything other than not. It's been around now. Her explanation as to why was that well handled no not at all. She's like i was. I was set up. "On the job in fighting in and in parenthood, you know, um I'm just in a good spot with that balance. I can It puts fighting in perspective. It kind of gives me a break had times from from being the tough guy and being surrounded by fighters. Like Like I said, in the quote when I come home and just be Dad, I don't have to be. The diamond. I don't have to be the tough guy, the the cage fighter. I could just be bad We can watch cartoons and I can play Barbies and Be a father to a little girl and not even think about fighting because it's really hard for me any other time in my life to not be thinking about fighting. It's always in the back of my mind. I'm always thinking about something that has to do with combat sports, whether it's a positional thing. Or who I'm fighting next or what it's gonna take to get me to align myself with another title shot. It just never stopped. The wheels are always turning in my head. So when I can focus 100% on something else and give myself a little break and spend time with my daughter and do other things, we get my mind off. Also combat sports. I love it because I need that because it's hard to stop this crazy brain of mine there right And it was always like that right as an example, you recently told Teddy Atlas That there was a time when fighting was your life. But now it's a part of your life. Like when did that change? And how does that change? Feel like? Is that a weight off your shoulders? And in fact, if you care a little bit less, or you redistribute kind of this, some of that doesn't make you a better fighter as a result. It does, And I think we're seeing that and I think it started happening. You know where my daughter was born, And then I kept the juggling and balancing act up. Was tryingto be the best father and also be the best best fighter and then the best husband and all these other hats aware Just like I said it puts fighting into perspective is just I something I do something I do very well, but it's just part of my life. Um Whenever fighting stops. I'm still gonna be a father. And I'm still going to be the president of the Good Five Foundation, and I'm still going to be a husband, you know, realizing that and growing up in the sport and being more mature now Let me put it that way. And let me think of it that way, and I enjoy it, and I love fighting. But it's going to stop one day and these other things were not so I'm just enjoying the ride. You know of everything. Before you go disappoint you. My guest. I was going to ask you next about the Good fight Foundation in 2018 when your wife started the good fight Foundation for those who are not aware what is the foundation about and what inspired you to start it? I met. My wife started the foundation two years ago. Like you said, after I had started auctioning off some of my Fight. Warn things I used to just auction it off. And then I would donate the money myself causes in the community that I saw, and we decided to start an actual foundation and give it a name that way. It wouldn't be just like doesn't boys Donates money to here or there. We can actually give it a name, Identity and tryto. Raise money and let it grow naturally and see what happens And it's done. That man is By far grown quicker than I ever could have imagined. And we've goals we've met last year were amazing. It was the first time we went outside the United States and we were Willinto, Africa and And got some wells dug there on bought bought a tribe. Some land and, you know, it's just amazing because it started off so small and so Grass roots here in Lafayette, Louisiana. We were doing small things like donating the food shelters and, uh, Just to see the road. We've traveled in this short a time. And and how far the good fight has reached in the word has spread its amazing I'm just I'm thankful, grateful and I can't wait to see you know. What this thing turns into, if we keep pushing it the way we are, what a great cause that must feel amazing. And you mentioned Lafayette. You've been awarded the key to the city of Lafayette, Louisiana. What's it mean to you to be from Lafayette and representing them now on the biggest stage? It's an honor. You know, I do it with pride, and I'm trying my best to do it the right way and give give people to row insight of what we have to offer and the type of people we are honest, hard working blue collar people. Who like to have a good time and like to support local businesses like it's a support our culture here in a K Deanna And like, Like I said, Man, it's an honor to wear the kiddie in a flag and represent Lafayette, Louisiana, on the world scale, But someone last night you made the point that in your career right now you want to make or take fights. That means something that adds your legacy. So if you're thinking about legacy going forward, what does that mean? For who you'd like to fight next? I don't know. I'm not sure what the what the options will be when you have C comes back and starts, you know, sitting at the table to make these matches It just it needs to be A really big name or or a title, fight, or I've been doing this for 10 years in the UFC and, uh and I still love fighting. But I want these fights to mean more than just a fight like I don't want it to just be about A show in wind purse or I wanted to be really mean something on and I know I'm on the back nine in my career. I've been fighting for a while, have 40 fights. And I want these last 45 years to really mean something every time I get into the octagon Not only for me and my family, but for the goals that I'm tryingto bring awareness to raise money for Um and and for my my career, you know, my I really want to leave a legacy. He is the number two UFC lightweight contender. There's no doubt you're going to do that, already. Number two in the lightweight division. He is number eight in the pound for pound rankings. He was the recipient of the inaugural Forrest Griffin Community Award, which is a great honor and the founder of the Good Fight Foundation. Best employee in my gas test in really good to have you on the show. Appreciate that conversation a lot and hope we could do it again soon. My pleasure man yet, you guys, you may email I'll be back whenever you want me love, good stuff. Man should die sooner destined ploy by my guest. Always going to talk you have seen on this program. Remember the first time I started talk? Mm, a Dana White Knight and I have had this conversation off there. And what the world was like then and what the sporting most reaction was to it then and what some of your responses were then. A lot of people didn't get it. And even I was a boxing guy through and through, But when I first started to see UFC and Emma. I'm like, Wow, man. This is different. This is really interesting, really different to keep an open mind to it. Like I got it. And there are a lot of you who did not, and even some people around me who, for whatever reason, didn't get it. There's just way too many people like I don't know this guy David in Houston. What year was this? Alvin? It was 2008. And I'm talking about even back prior to this. But even as recently as 2008 I was still getting calls like this to the show when I interviewed Dana White or when I talk to UFC, If you really want to see a slope first watch the classic Biswas. Robinson against anyone. Those guys sugary Robinson, that's real fighting. This is just a sign of how society is. The King is not fighting two guys. They throw punches, Then they get on the ground and hump each other. It's disgusting gym. I was an actual call to this show. That was not a crank call that guy you could hear his voice man like he was really offended. Quote. The UFC was quote an example of the decay of our society..

"Football against him growing up and obviously my school wrestled against him and I was a I was very young That's when you know something bad's coming right Yeah great site was A pretty decent basketball player in high school by South Dakota Standards and I could rub on the basketball court. It was just something I guess I did. I didn't really until wasn't necessarily intentionally and aggravated but I played really hard. And you know the the couple of years before so junior year we had really good years and I you know went into my senior year super excited and was planning on playing college and all this stuff And so brock. You have that rivalry right like so one of my friends wrestled against them. They're the heavyweights and they'd go back and forth and didn't like each other And so I was playing in webster. South Dakota and having a pretty good game and of course brock's in the stands right there and You know I think it started with Maybe Bloom Kiss. Then maybe you know. Hit a three pointer and waved at them. You know some of those things just because you know why not But sure enough. I you know got to the point where you couldn't take it anymore and Started coming down out of the stands during the game and had to be restrained from running on the court would end. I know that I probably read out. Random what a great story. What a great story. Any any Favorite favored MMA fighter Currently oh I law Cub. Swanson is probably my favorite. Ufc fire And I don't even really know why it just seems like a really good dude. That works really hard. Mack Holloway. I can't not watch him do anything. I'm just a massive fan of the sport and I came to it a little bit later than I should have. I was a big big boxing fan growing up and all through my twenties and really just love to boxing Until I wasn't you know as involved in Following the sport you know around the days of you know when all the strikeforce guys came over and all that sort of stuff But I've went back and watched almost anything and now you know. I just think it's one of the purest. Sports imaginable Two people In their bass shape of their lives adding tools every day all day trying to get better and then seeing what happens So I just absolutely adore the sport. I appreciate how impossible it is and I. I have to hear your stories. I can't even imagine what it took for you to get to where you did Be HATS OFF. Because it's just it's unbelievable to me what you have to even sorta craziness you have to have to think you can get in the cage and then You know all the dedication all the work all the skill sets you have to pick up. It's just nominal. Yeah I will say that at the time period which I was in it was obviously a much different sport It was nowhere near The popularity that it's become today. The last year was the first season the ultimate fighter on Spike TV. And so that's when the The finale between Stephan Bonner and forrest Griffin Kinda reenergize the sport in propelled it in many ways to to what it became today. But what I would say about. It is the time that I spend. I made some of the best friends that I've had in my life Only because if you can imagine there's a level of trust that you have to have with the people that you're you're practicing training sparring with because they need to be around for the next day in the next day and in terms of wire are often times when when people meet me. They're like I can't imagine you doing something like this and now you've been you used the word crazy which I think there has to be an element. Maybe not get crazy. Is I think a ballot adjective for a lot of people but for me was just the one thing that I've done Physically in my life where they're really can't be a disconnect between the mental concentration and the actual physical activity so when you think about lots of different sports whether it's playing basketball or running or lifting weights. You know after you get outside of your your collegiate competitive. Even when you're done as a professional athlete you look for things which you can can find that connection that you have to be fully invested in for me. That mixed martial arts martial arts in general love. Boxing loved kickboxing Rustling Jujitsu. And you know I. I was really fortunate to be in the sport and a time when like I said it was at the beginning so as it was a smaller group of people like the celebrities like randy couture and some of the others that were the pioneers of the sport mean they are very They're able to to be connected to and even now today. I still have really good friends. That are still professional Mixed martial artists that just some of the nicest people you'll meet it's just. They're incredibly good at at fighting and so it's an interesting part of my personal story like you I. I like to look at the different things that I've been fortunate to in my life and I'd like you did not follow a linear path to to where I am and I find that that part of my life the you know the martial arts than continued to Kinda practice nowhere near as seriously as I did before is where I've met some of the people that have the closest relationships too so it's it's been a good a good thing for me so that's wonderful to really quick follow ups on that number one. I say crazy manner by. That's my kind of person I I mean. I didn't have the chance. And it's easy to say I would have done it if I had the chance at a younger age But no I I absolutely love it. I'm that type of crazy I mean I. I was picking a fight with Brock and on a basketball court when I had zero chance of winning And the other thing is you know that's really what I think you know. Such a unique aspect of it is yes wearing shorts but you are so get in there that you know back to that means and plus in that planning if. You're Ju Jitsu good enough and your defensive wrestling isn't good enough. There is no avoiding it. Right is going to get exposed. Maybe not that first couple of seconds but ultimately it will and you know you get to see really quickly who has done their homework and who hasn't and who is getting better because there's nowhere to hide right and so you know. I don't care how good you are at striking. If you're fighting be he's going to get you down and Kanye survive So I think that is really fascinating to me versus. You know the team sports. You can have a really good basketball game. You can run plays and work on some things but you know you're kind of doing the same thing whereas this is so segmented in the discipline and how they flow that just the matchups alone are fascinating and the last point is it brings a true sense of humbleness or I think it brings a true sense of humbleness to people because just the ability to put yourself out there and to to suggest that you're willing in front of a group of people to to give your best and often times. That best is good enough. And it's very clear in most cases besides the the decisions like who the winner and who the loser is and so. It's it's kind of a black and white thing which you know require some level of humility in order to get better at those various disciplines you have to be willing to put yourself out there and try those things and also while you're doing that you're gonna be getting beaten up while you're trying those things. I was naturally a better striker so it was harder for me to you. Know if I'm being honest with myself to embrace the rustling in Jujitsu and and I think I made the right decision but I got to a point where I realized like I'm not going to be able to pull those level those parts of the game up to a level where it's going to be meaningful from a professional standpoint and You know there. I have like you. The the utmost respect for those that have stayed within the game ten years later and who have continued to hone their craft in practice in become some of the more popular people within the sport whether it is from a coaching perspective. Just you know individual so it's been very fun to kind of sit there and be a spectator in cheerleader for those people. And they've earned it. You know like the the story that you mentioned about grinding out in a restaurant for five years. I mean these people have been doing for ten years. It's great to see them. Finally start to have some real successful from you know popularity perspective but also from a monetary perspective. Just we still get paid more. It's absolute travesty. I think how much they don't get paid for what it takes to do that. but at least trending in the right way. Right for Sir Michael. I've really I've really appreciated this discussion. Thank you for For spending some time with me today my pleasure thank you. Thank you for joining us on the independence. "And she was like the loan, a one of the female fighters on it, and she she's, so she's so talented. I had she's been pegged. I remember when she won the ultimate fighter people are already kind of pegging her as a future title contender in this. She's only gone better and better and better and better. And she's winning dominantly so Tatiana Suarez versus blank. I'm always going to be the most interested in. Agreed agreed hundred percent. That's one hundred that's the number one contender fight for me. I cannot wait to see that one. Also, lent me, not answer off has been continued to surprise aren't saying wasn't she hinting at retirement at one point? And then she took a short notice that just Ryan with it should be like, does a pretty definitive wind. So I don't know. Man. I don't know what this, but I'm looking forward to that. Let's keep going looking for. Questions. This one's coming from AUSSIE fight fan says, hey guys, we are all sick of these sea level judges in MA. How about the you C hires fighters who are on the card to judge the fights pros. They know what they're looking at. They have experienced they get paid, they interact more with fans cons, none thoughts. That's an interesting idea. He says, how basically the of see hiring their fighters who may be around, but aren't on the car to judge divides. Are they still on the roster? He didn't say, but let's say, yes, I would I don't want fighter on the Rosser like judging car. I think you should be not even you should not be an employee of the you have C while or a contracts, the of see while you're judging event, and I do believe it was you that wrote this article a long time ago in enforced someone as Forrest Griffin this about, like, what do you think about judge fighters judging fights? And he was like, no and fatty. No, because fighters will judge based off of their style. I know he's he was like, I'm not like if a wrestler fights, a forest, Griffin's argument was he always favours guys with high volume in low power output, because that's his type of fighting where Matt, he's like me and Matt Hughes will never agree on a kick boxer versus a wrestler, if they fought their style. So for a long time, I was again, fighters should judge, but then Forrest Griffin was sown? Fatted with his no. And laid out all of these reasons why he definitely swayed me and forced not the best person to answer that question. Because maybe he just doesn't want to judge, but he I tend to agree with with his take on it. I'm curious what you have to say though. No, that's a great point. That is it really great point. I forgot that for that little comet from force because you're a hundred percent right. Black belt who spent his entire life on the MAC is going to be giving much more weight to, to grab it actions and things like that -fensive wrestling, while well guy, who's gave by his entire life is going to be much, giving much more credits jabs, and right of various stand up techniques. Also, I this is a bad idea for more reasons than that, because just also fighters have bias. He's mainly. This is a very, very small world, all of MA, everybody knows everybody to some degree in some fighters light some fires some fighters don't like some fighters. Some fighters used to be teammates with some fighters some fires. No people that used to be teammates with so fires. You're just coming going down a road where you have no way to have any real knowledge of, like, hey, what's disguised connection to this guy?.

And now he's on his way to London, and he's going back and forth with Darrin till and all his well for funky. Ben aspirin pager Mundos knocks out Cody guard. That's now three straight knockouts for Cody Garbrandt. Wow. Who does who thought that we'd ever be in this position? He has not once not one the belt. Gets Dominick Cruz. You have see said that maybe Ordina white in particular said that maybe he'd fight dancer Oni after the Donald aronie fight against Conor McGregor fell through. I don't know if I believe that one hundred percent, but we'll get his thoughts on Ferguson now fighting for the interim belt and excuse me for getting passed over. It's going to be poor abras Holloway at you have see two thirty six April thirteenth. He's not fighting anyone at the moment. So we'll get ally. Quinta starts toys. Good talk to him on the program. People said he had that he was crazy all that. And more Diego Sanchez winning into nineteen. Mickey goals was like more than a decade younger than him. Unbelievable. What a great character. Mike winkle, John and Brandon Gibson back to back. I it will be well in the order that I'm going Gibson. And now you hear this and you can't help. But think maybe it's another way cutting casualty let's go back to the phone lines. Hear from some of you. I need you as much as you need me. Because like I said at the top of the show. This was a to fight card. And now we're down to one fight is route assign every zanthosyn Silva Joe in Houston. What's up my man, man area? What's up? I haven't talked to you in a while. It's good to hear from you. What's on your mind? Man, craziest sports follow that. We saw the man that just can happen a day of the event. But I want to ask, you Anderson, man. Buddy of mine. The other day just talking about all the crazy finishes the crazy sites amazing performances from this guy. And I just wanna know how you will remember him. You know, had the PD things we have now if you ask me he's kind of fighting on too long, maybe should acquit little. Although after all, those great performances, how're you? Remember areo? Our you remember and today. Well, you know, it's a good question because he's had so many different chapters in his career. I would be lying. If I said that the PD stuff doesn't come to mind pretty early on when I think of interesting, but yeah, I think of him clowning opponents the Forrest Griffin one. That one that was quintessential Anderson Silva, I think of that. But I also think of you have won twelve when he was clowning gaming Mayan. Dana white was very upset. I ninety seven when he tells ladies and Dana what was very upset. So there was some great moments. There were some frustrating moments. But yes, he was brilliant. He's the guy who fought pretty much everyone. What he did to rich Franklin breaking his nose? Devastating him with those knees when he beat Chris LeBron the strumming the guitar and dancing for the longest time. He was one of those guys where you just couldn't quite figure out what's going on in his mind the chill Sunan feud. I thought brought out the best in him coming back with two minutes left in that fight and submitting chill and then doing what he did in the rematch. So certainly one of the greatest ever, but a guy who I would say at this point somewhat polarizing, and if you're not at least bringing up the PD stuff in the second or third sentence. I don't think you're being one hundred percent honest..

"You'll you'll. How still there hang up when I'm Josh for. All right. The USC on March thirtieth is going to Philadelphia to the Wells Fargo center. That's big news. And I'll tell you why. Because that's the city of brotherly love is a really really big city. I think it's the fourth most populated city in the United States. Don't quote me on that. It's either Houston, Detroit or Philly. I think it's Philly, of course, the top three or New York LA, Chicago. And there are a lot of fighters based out of Philly. But the the UC for whatever reason just hasn't been able to go there much, you know. In their history. And. It's baffling because it's a big boxing or. Yeah. It's boxers current boxers like puck is fighting or did you find? All right. Well Hopkins of their Danny Garcia the league. Joe frazier. Lots of boxers. So they're going back, and now Paul failed is the first guy I thought about, but as you all know he's booked. Do you think Paul fell there should politely and respectfully ask his opponent? Hey, man. Manda, ma'am. I didn't catch you at a bad time. Right. No. No, no. Let me ask. You question. Right me villi man in in six weeks later, then we're supposed to fight clear that all you call Sean shelve your Mark McMahon or to whoever your matchmaker. Isn't you say I already cleared it with so? And so, but could you just move my fight? I would love for Paul Felder to have his fight in the city of brotherly love, man. That's the first guy. I thought about. Yeah. Sorry. Go ahead. I was gonna say it's a bummer. No fell. There is obviously, you know, up the big name that they recently boss was Eddie Alvarez. And then he really shot out the fun size Makovsky, man. That guy's a Philly dude as well. But again, you know, flyweight who was cut prior to the kind of I don't want to fly with departure of not even invested of that in that point. But you know, what I'm saying you have to go what Pittsburgh guys we just what's his name? Just retired. We had him on the show went from heavyweight to light heavyweight outta mill said, but he's not no longer with them. So now, she Kagan believes got Philly ties perhaps. But I think she's been been in living in New Jersey times camp, they're the closest guys now Daryl Horter who's like I think it was like Harrisburg PA or something like that will sit Hayes at one time was affiliate guy before moving to San Diego. This was I f l going real real real. Yeah. Yeah. But, but yeah, there's some quality names there. I think that could. That you could tie you know, that down to and it is unfortunate Eddie Alvarez sign with one championship. And he would have been good. And I probably probably did think about him before. Maybe paul. I don't know. But that's going to be fun, man. I'm glad you did that. And I think the hidden Wichita for the first time, and I want to go back to Seattle. I've heard some good things about every time. They go to Seattle. You've had that fight card in Oakland with shell Sunan and Anderson's over the first time. Why haven't they been back to Oakland? Like, there's some major cities that need to get more. These shows a easy easy. We like our shows out here in Vegas. Don't take them away for weeks notice what name popped up in my head to. But is a Burt Watson wouldn't be there to. Yeah. And thinking about the last night the last time they were there. But one of my favorite baby. Last is one of my one of my favorite shows. Of course, you have C one. Oh, one headline by BJ Penn. Kenny floor, and you're the Andersons over Forrest Griffin fight there and Johnny Hendrix..
