Former New Jersey governor Chris Christie is mulling a run for president, and he's taking direct aim at former president Donald Trump. Jeff pojo got more from Colby ECOWAS of The Washington Post. Chris Christie seems like someone who's got as opposed to Ron DeSantis, some pretty good name recognition across the country. He does. He does, and especially in New Hampshire because remember, he spent many months courting voters up there in 2016 when he ran for president the first time. And he was out of office now, but went up to New Hampshire to kind of make the case that there needs to be someone strong and willing to take on Trump with the same kind of brashness and bluntness and bombast that you expect out of Trump. Christie said that he can match that. And so that's his that's his sales pitch to the voters of New Hampshire. And how are they buying it? You know, I talked to a lot of people in the room, the people in the room tended to be independents to Republicans who are ready to move on from Trump. And so what I heard time and again was we won't vote for Trump again. We want some fresh blood. Maybe that's Chris Christie. Maybe that's Ron DeSantis. Maybe that's someone that we haven't even thought of yet because it's still so early, but they want options. And Chris Christie gave himself essentially a timeline saying that he's going to make a decision by this summer, right? Sure, yeah, someone had asked him, actually, you know, when's the latest you can get in the race. He said that he thinks June is the absolute latest that he could announce. The first Republican debate is in August. And so that is the time travel that he kind of set up for both himself and anyone else that he is going to get into the race between now and then. But how much is his association with Donald Trump going to harm his candidacy because if he's running to be the anti Trump candidate, he was the chair of the transition team. He was a Trump ally for a long time before he decided to take him on in this primary. You're absolutely right. I mean, you'll remember that in Christie dropped out of the race. He endorsed Donald Trump's to behind him during one of his speeches, like you said, was part of his transition team, worked chairing one of the opioid task forces and the Trump administration, and then went on to be an adviser in the 2020 presidential campaign. He actually mentioned in his speech that he had played the roles both of Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden in Trump's debate prep. And so Christy has some strong ties to president Trump and one of the attendees actually challenged him on that. And said, you know, basically, how can we trust you, you kind of let us down before and Christy said I own that, but after what I saw, Trump do after he denied the results of the election in 2020 after he incited a riot at the capitol in January 6th, that's when Chris Christie was done with him, ready to move on. And said that he had thought that maybe he could change him or make him a better candidate or make him a better president, but it became clear after what happened in 2020 that he could not, and that's when Chris Christie took this new stand of being an anti Trump Republican. And as Trump responded to that? Well, not directly. I did ask his spokesperson one of his spokespeople for response to what Chris Christie said on Monday night and they wrote back who's that? That's Washington Post reporter Colby icho is talking with Jeff poggio. It's now four 49. Snohomish county is venturing into sustainable aviation fuel research. Kathy O'Shea has details. The
