Facebook Has Struggled to Address COVID-19 Misinformation on It's Platform

"From the start of the pandemic facebook and it's ceo. Mark zuckerberg have talked publicly. About how seriously they take this crisis. Here's what zuckerberg told cnn back. In april twenty twenty. So i think one of the most important functions that facebook and our acts can do right now is help. Connect people with authoritative health information and experts at the same time to limit the spread of misinformation. But despite that goal facebook has struggled to address foles health information on its platforms. That's continued throughout the rollout of cova vaccines and they became so widespread that well. Here's how president biden described the misinformation back in july really look only pandemic you have is among unvaccinated other. Killing people policing unsubstantiated. Health claims has become a key problem for facebook one. The company has struggled to address even after warnings from employees reporters. Sam schechner is part of the investigative team. That's been working on this story. And he joins me now. Hi sam thanks for being here. Thanks for having me so sam. I think a lot of people who've been on facebook in the last year and a half have seen misinformation about the pandemic and about vaccines. Why is it so hard for facebook to take it all down. I think facebook would say this is a tough problem with a tough adversary. It's not like anti vaccine or new to facebook. They've mobilized on social media and in particular on facebook and in our reporting we've seen internal documents that show that this was an issue. This is something that they tackled in the years before the pandemic they were working on ways to identify who were in these antitax groups they develop policies that some you know certain types of content should be removed and when the pandemic hit these policies were in place so if public health authorities said that a certain type of claim wasn't just false but could cause imminent harm than they would remove that but that's a pretty narrow standard

Will Carson Wintz Be Ready for Week 1?

"Good news from indianapolis where quarterback carson wentz and guard quentin nelson will return to practice this week on a limited basis to nelson nelson both coming off foot surgery in early august holtz head coach. Frank reich had this to say about his quarterback last week in the perfect world. We have a really good idea after that third preseason game and carson would get to work two weeks going into the first game. That's the perfect world. The nets perfect world is the only gets the work of game week. I don't know if that's going to happen would be week to week. Three is still some mystery here regarding the timeline on carson wentz. What do we make of the recovery. Time line here. It seems to be going pretty well. Kimberly what are you hearing. In terms of carson wentz in the colts yeah it was somewhat surprising just because the initial time was five to twelve weeks and you know when i asked people around the league. Oh carson may be back in practice. Look at this. they're like. Oh is that an indictment on the other guys. I don't think that's the case. But i think india's a very delegates only because we've seen frank reich Gold took in my opinion go above and beyond in solidify this carson's team then and we. I love nick foles. But this is carson's team gotta hear this nicole stock and it just seemed a little extra and when you think about how carson has been described by people in league as far he needs to feel security needs to feel wanted. He needs to know that this is his team. The colts clearly are doing that. So this tie him being back at practice so soon you want you wanna make sure that he's not rushing himself back before he needs to be because this is a team that could go really far

Dean Erika James On If You Should Get Your MBA

"Jump into it. I've been so looking forward to having you on here because we this is obviously career podcast. Danielle and i talk very openly about how much we have learned as we have built the skin but without a traditional business background and one of the top things we end up talking about with our mentors with people that are coming to us for advice and on this show is should you get an mba or not and there is no better person to ask than you as we dig into that. I want to understand for you. What your you to your business education. Well so let me just challenge the narrative behind the question. I actually i myself do not have an mba so my career. Ethnic profile is in the liberal arts. That was a psychology major. Found this field organizational psychology when i applied to grasp the schools and really liked the way in which you apply what you learn as a liberal arts student in psychology particular to concrete professional business settings the organizations so. I've my pathway to business. Education was released through the discipline of organizational psychology organizational behavior. And i have just been able to parlay that into really interesting scholarship and the development of new interesting classes like crisis management's leadership etcetera so. That was my career. Pathway is it weird to be head of school for a degree that you yourself didn't get well. It hasn't been weird. Because i've been doing it was dean at emory for awhile. I've been now dean here for just over a year. So i think in the role as a leader so much of what you do is around understanding constituents around setting a strategy rounder titillating vision around coordinating people to align with that vision and you have to obviously knowing nothing about the core product in our case it's business education that you can do those things though yes. Some people may find it unusual. That i myself do not have an nba. But i think if you were to survey many deans of business foles might be surprised at the number that do not have mba's themselves.

"foles" Discussed on Speak For Yourself

"Imitating the engine. Think that's the end of that team. Talk it out. But when it his rolin thinker row so this is the best version carmelo from the three point. Line where the lakers struggle last year. Best version of carmelo from the free throw line ever like in his career highest percentages. And then you gotta go back for carmelo to two thousand and thirteen two thousand fourteen season. Well carmelo look this good on the offensive end in terms of rating. All i'm saying is he's not asked to be full-size carmelo anthony or super sized small order. We're asking a little carmelo and then we're going to get a lot from carmelo. This is simple formula ad. That will the brock and a winning team or ready. You got something special going. I'm sorry i cut you up. Do we want to look at do. We want to look at defensive rating and we want to look at pays for years. Where lebron james's defensive rating has been the worst that it spent his entire career or komar. Carmelo anthony the last two years worst defensive rating of his entire year. I believe they potentially be better offensively than they were last year. But then what they were. Twenty second twenty four last year so i would hope that they would be better but are they going to be number one defense this year. No no how no way. And mellow and lebron being on the floor at the same time defensively. Oh my god faith fast break heaven from the opposition that is a race between gravy and syrup data. That is slow. Boasted their defense. Because you got me on the roads right now covered up to nick replacing karston wis again. That's a bad move for wins next. Don't speak for yourself. I rock says carson wentz foot surgery showed no further concerts but he is still expected to miss between five and twelve weeks. Number of names have been brought to take over winston. Who and his former teammate. Nick foles remember falls now placed in india winston a two thousand seventeen season and led the eagles to a super bowl win on our chose team portraying be bad for carson wentz. It'd be good for the cold. So i don't care what it would be like for today. It really doesn't matter now. If you trade for anybody to fill in the void of carson wentz nick foles would be the perfect candidates or trade for. I've played with. Nick foles when he was a backup. He was backing up. Michael bit played for nick foles when he was a starter he was starting over. Michael bacon starting over mark sanchez. Same do doesn't change nipples. Just happen to be. There wants everybody when he was star wind. Nine straight we were three and five ended up ten and six his the hall of fame for most passing touchdowns against the team against the raiders. He do like seven passing touchdown. Doing crews dumbest thing. I see my twenty eight touchdowns to intercept. Nick foles when he gets going another conversation. But i'm gonna say this. Nick foles at his best is a top five quarterback when the other when every other quarterback is at their best knit foles at his best so psa peak peak. Four thank you. I never figured out how to simplify bassett peak to peak. Nick foles top five quarterback segment for argued it. I'm talking five history. Were still the who bought that being said. Nick foles isn't trying to take anybody's job. He's trying to help. A team wins. Sure but remember nick. Foles led the eagles to their first super bowl and they still were like april. You're going to be the backup. He's like i but others go to jacksonville over eighty eight million dollars a and he falls wants to chicago. You're going to be the backup to mitch trubisky. I i'll go back up. And he back him up falls and trying to take a job. So i actually think nick foles for india is so good. I don't care how whence feels. But if i were to care how feel it would be good for once as well interesting. You took me some places. I get there after i agree with you and say i don't care is going to be carson wentz like carson wentz understand how this game goes. You have huge expectations. Could you have supreme talent. You've actually exhibited a lot of that talent when healthy the problem is we can't get into a conversation where it's about back of how good is your backup is your backup going displace you. Who is your beco- that's not for us. To have that conversation on a football team based on our strictures. Which is the salary cap. We're going to try employ two best football players at every single position right now. Mentality comes into play. You start talking about nick foles from afar religious guys religious music respect that but he still a competitor so he could come around here with that smile you gentleness but don't let that fool you'll let the smooth taste food. You trying to take your job i hope. So if you're carson wentz everybody who's playing your position is trying to take your job. They're not all capable. This is my issue with today's culture and talk about expectations. They only talk about the burden that comes with expectations. 'cause i've been in positions you've been in positions where people expect a lot of the others burton that comes from that but there's also a comfort and the comfort is the confidence the fact that not only should i win. Not only am. I supposed to wear but dammit are probably am going to win if you're carson wentz. You have to rest in that part of expectations which is this a burden but it calls what reward and embedded in whoever. They put out there in place the me until i get healthy. But i'll say this so because you're right. A of people are trying to take jobs in the nfl really. Everybody is. but there's a difference between someone trying to take your job in someone trying to keep your job. I would assume daughter when she came back before she just went off to grass goes out to her columbia yes. I would assume that when she was back home she needed to take a car every now and then she might take car keys but she won't trying to keep your car keys off. Take one of the keys to the test. I'll bring it back. He's trying to take the keys. But you weren't trying to keep the keys. Knit falls in my mind. Would just be trying to take them. But not keep them but the backup quarterbacks albeit jacob piece and i think the fifth round pick high leveled number one overall player out of high school. He's trying to keep it. Sam etlinger rookie. Six round pick out of texas here. Trying to keep it falls. He'll borrow the keys to the coal starting quarterback job in who just give them right back. He's not trying to keep the keys will take them no gladly old. Ask god to give up the keys. Because he shouldn't be driving to. Here's the thing you should because you've got a good backup case. I can't play with nobody like that. Oh because your backup. Good if you can't handle intro competition you can't deal with the opponents inter competition so carson wentz. He'll love brother and gets a job. Back coming up ben same as it was called out by dwight howard on his way out the door to la we love or hate his comments. That's next on. Speak for yourself and my daughter has her own test. Dwight howard is on his way to the lakers but he did not leave philly wyatt me. Power thanked his fans on instagram. Then appeared to take shot that out and then posting quote and ben ben denise which could be referenced to simmons free struggles in the playoff or maybe marcellus. You love hate right. Howard take me shot at incidents. You know why i always like what does he mean you'll need but then i said you know i love this because he's not punch it down he can't shoot free throws either. So it's like. I joke on you especially if i'm guilty as charged of the same thing. I loved the reason. I hate hisself if a joke needs interpretation. It's a terrible joke. Really and you and i are both needed to interpret. This joke for didn't know netflix. Special for you to white. That's it for us. We'll see you tomorrow..

Former Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky Signs One-Year Deal With Bills

"Announced earlier today former bears quarterback mitch trubisky signing a one year deal with the buffalo bills presumably to backup josh allen. There it is a two and a half million dollar deal with some incentives tied into it. That's injury presumably would be the other scenario. He gets beat out for the backup and he's the third. Is that one. maybe it gets cut. It's a there's a chance he'll be the backup. Let me ask you this question though. Because it's easy and it's if we're making fun of mitchell way or mitchell and that's worthy of being made fun of i think but not this. He's okay right you know. He's making more than a lot of hardworking people. You know literally do in a lifetime in this bad year but they are in the end of these players these reaching the pinnacle of their profession. And it's a billion dollar profession. They make money. They're supposed to make. I mean to me. The beauty of the nfl's rev share agreement. Is they're saying okay. The players contribute fifty percent the infrastructure. The all legacy to have the trademarks team. You know however you want to think about that fifty percent we take the money in. We divvied up and go. I mean to me that means that you can't even debate if collectively that you were jones but collectively with the players deserve their millions and millions and billions ultimately. They do that said we can. Because they're making so much money. We can have some fun with it. But i gotta be honest. I think that trubisky getting resigned by the bears was closer than we thought. Because i would make the following case. Let me ask you joan. What you would have made the odds. I don't we didn't do it at the time but right when this season let's say the regular season ended and those that remember obviously foles got her trubisky came back in play statistically significantly. Better at that point. I would have guessed about thirty percent chance. The trubisky would've had been rinse we signed in some significant way. Not like a five hundred million dollar deal but a real deal. I think the odds weren't worse than thirty percent. What would you have guessed. The is debate. I yeah i would have said probably about the same because that was a lot of the discussions i know in and around chicago that day. Did he play himself back into consideration for the twenty twenty one quarterback job and when i see him getting beat out for the job. I don't mean that. As a slight m i actually think. He's a much better quarterback than people give him credit for. I think for that kind of money if somebody comes in and outplays him buffalo's not gonna be tied to that contract like if he would have signed for seven or eight million

Wentz out of Philadelphia Eagles

"A very interesting. Nfl deal in at the philadelphia eagles have moved on from carson wentz. He's been traded to the colts massive contract as well. That's part of this deal. Is well taken that on when it goes to the colts for at twenty twenty one. Third rounder and twenty two conditional second round pick as i mentioned whence and jared goff the rams quarterback they were one and two in the draft and everybody thought they were all that the next big thing they had some success whence one super bowl now using kind of injury mode because nick foles won the won the super bowl for the eagles. The actual game but wentz was great. All that season and jared goff also went to a super bowl taken on new england and losing in the final so these guys had some success but man did they fall out of favor in a big old hurry both philly and l. a.

What Is Wrong With Carson Wentz:

"Philly eagles and seahawks and birds and other birds only one type heading south carson wentz again trying to prove a starter status again coming up short another interception adding to his league-leading totally was also six. Times is back backup. Jalen hurts saw just to blaze last night. We'll have much more on him in just a second but first eagles get the win. Here's carson winston after last night's loss to seattle. There's been a lot of talk and speculation. You possibly getting benched or something like that. I mean does that way on you at all. Do you think about that at all. And that occurred during the game. Any of that. Come up. i mean. I said that last week you know this is what you sign up for as a quarterback member. Since you're a kid you know you're prepared for for any of those nothing's ever guaranteed and so for me i. I don't think about that though. I just try and go out and be the best player. I can be in practice. Prepare my tail off. Compete my tail off and You know hopefully we can get this thing turned around but I think about those things. I might give it everything i got every time i step on the field. I think i said the eagles went. Obviously the seahawks won there and carson wentz with the barrage of questions about his plane time plane status plane brandon start with you did carson wentz play well enough to keep his starting job moving forward. Well i mean i hell. Mary was nice. i mean how. How often do we see that at all. He but outside of that. Mary no he. He didn't play well. The coaches the coach. Well defense didn't play well enough. This is one of those years. Nick where everybody needs to be on notice when you play like this and miss division everyone should be on notice and then you can go back to last couple years outside of their super bowl. Run it's always been a struggle for this organization. If i'm the owner. I am looking at everything. I'm looking at the general managers there's other gaps. There's other holes on this team is not just carson wentz. it's also the linebacking core and it's not that the linebacking core isn't playing. Well they're just not very good they don't have any debt so with that mind like you gotta talk about. Who's making those decisions. And you got to hold them accountable. So this entire organization. Mic should be on notice at listen. I think might garafolo is the one who reported this morning that he can no longer report. That doug peterson is totally save. Despite being just three years removed from actually winning a super bowl something carson wentz is not able to say. He did what that means for our rose. One of the front office will see. And you're right brandon. This is a team that has a multitude of issues but their biggest issue is this in twenty twenty the worst starting quarterback in football now. That's not a statement of opinion. That's just if according to the numbers we can show them. The worst fulltime starting quarterback in the nfl is carson wentz and the spat back that up one hundred percent. He's thirty fifth worse in everything. And there's only thirty two teams folks and he is a turnover machine he runs into sacks he doesn't make the big throws anymore. There's been one game all year long that he didn't turn the ball over and in that game. He fumbled twice. They just happened to recover them so it does feel however wildlife carson wentz might be the one with the most job security because of the contract. He's been signed to based on performance. You have a twenty eight a guy that's going to be twenty eight this month. He's in year five and he's playing the worst football of his career. That is more than a sign for his future. But do you think that's all of his fault nick. Because morning i wake up. And i make a little menu and i called my my kitchen. Where do my work hot take cafe and on today's menu. Here's what we had. You can make your choice. Everyone you can have bad coaching with a side of bad. Play design you can have bad decision. Making with a side of bad throws you could have bad wide receivers and bad protection. Those your options at the take cafe for me. I want went bad protection. I went with the six acts. We're not his fault. The league leading forty six x also. Not his fault he also had some throwaways there and i was watching the game last night neck and i was like oh the one when he was chased out of the pocket to avoid an intentional grounding. He threw it to the first down. Even though it came up short i was like. Oh that's a. That's a good play. That's a quarterback you can build around. I'm like what what is happening. I'm calling a throw to save even intentional grounding a good play and he could say like. I don't put it on the offensive line. Louis riddick mentioned it last night when they went to the super bowl best offensive line surprise surprise. Takeout carson wentz put. Nick foles doesn't matter to me. It starts with the offensive line. I know there's a lot of side dishes but it's an offensive line thing for me.

NFL hit with more positive COVID tests and injuries

"Sports. Here's Jordan Burn Field. Thank you, Steve. The NFL has had pretty good luck with teams being able to plow through the pandemic without cancelation, but that is in jeopardy. Now. Reigning NFL N V P. Lamar Jackson among several Ravens, who have tested positive for covert 19 positive tests continue to pile up for Baltimore. They were supposed to play the undefeated Steelers last night. Game has moved this Sunday due to the positives. Now their arm or the NFL may have no choice but to cancel that contest slated for the afternoon. Right now, the Bears on scheduled to play but who starts a quarterback? Sure looks like it'll be Mitch Travis Key. The back of QB has taken all the snaps and practice this week. Nick Foles has remained out with the nailing hip Bears left tackle Charles Leno practiced missed practice rather with a toe injury. Chicago Bears: Matt Nagy handing over play-calling duties

"And let's see if the bears moving offensive coordinator duties will be money on the field tonight. Normally it's mad nagy their head coach. He's been offensively inclined. That's why the bears hired him away from kansas city where he was working under andy reid but with the bear struggling. They're handing over play calling duties to bill laser. He's been in the nfl for a while. We'll get into his bio in just a second to see what you can expect on monday night football when the bears. The bears take on the vikings. Here's matt nagy essentially saying. I didn't really want to do this. But i've been around long enough to know i kind of had to do this. I've been around. Obviously one of the greatest head coaches in the history of this game and coach reid and of the best play callers in the history of this game co treat reid and for me in that time where he was able to show the trust in me at that point to give it to me to to run the offense and call the plays there was a little bit of a change and sometimes when you're in this position that we're in right now you wanna make sure that you're looking for solutions and you know you can always talk about execution. You can always talk about teaching. You can always talk about all facets of the game but this year with me going through that and seeing what can come from it. I just think it's it's the right thing to do. And we'll see where it goes. Laser been a longtime. Nfl assistant key the eagles the bengals. The dolphins is actually the oc for the dolphins for a couple years falcons washington football team seattle in more subordinate position. So he's been around the block. Tell me what this means i. It just means dead the pressures on in whenever you see a coach head coach playcaller give up play calling duties this late in the season. That tells you the pressures on in conversations have been had that they've got to figure out another way to generate points because clearly the will matt nagy calling. The plays was not working and if he continued to call the plays and continue to go the way that has been going. There's a large chance of the possibility that he may not be retained after the season. So he's trying to fix it before they get to that point which is smart on his part. I mean look when you go to. This is when you go to this. This is the last stop right. this is right. This is the last stop. We gotta turn it around because if we don't chances are i'm going to have for sale sign point in january in front of my house on the the reality of what they have to make the playoffs in your expectation for matt. Nagy not to lose his job i would. I would think so. But i'm but i'm not the owner of the team but i would say that for the general manager matt nagy to be back with me and twenty twenty one. They've got to get to the playoffs especially we started off with a quarterback that we drafted several years ago. It was the second pick in the first round. We went away from him. We listened to you by going out and getting nick foles and now we missed the playoffs. I can't bring you back.

"Chicago Bears Winning Ugly" with Olin Kreutz - Episode 033 - burst 01

"I watch Nick Foles press conference. And he you know, he got he got emotional over being questioned them about them not being very good. And I think coach Nagy was irritated to kind of like, you know Peggy my my answer was a welcome to Chicago and you play off with a really good defense, right? So, they'll get used to it, you know, as long as you win games nothing else really does matter. I mean, obviously when you look at them from an analyst standpoint, you're wondering when they get into that wage work or if an office desk or twenty one point early or three touchdowns. Can we score 28 to 30 points which they have? I think they get the bulk. Is it put up 30 points or the phone number? To go to Indiana fell but like you said pay you and you watch that defense, they're extremely good and they got one thing that a lot of good teams and teams that have good success with the formula of the defense wins games. They create chaos with a quarterback and they speed up the offense is clogged which creates turnovers. "Really true. So what other question then see said that you're operating seven different teams is that will under the banner or multiple different brands. It's all under the talent umbrella. The only one that's slightly finished the PSG talent league of legends team in Taiwan but they're all under the talent umbrella we have. The same consistent approach when it comes to remain performance management approaching. The second half of this year has actually been incredible. The games that we're in we're close to being I or delivering championships super excited by. But yeah, it's all under the talent umbrella consistent sort of performance management. and. That's why we've been able to have good results across all titles verses like. Other teams might sponsor teams where they basically have existing teams and just whack the logos onto it but we're not believe is that because we feel like you know the culture that you drive the value that you drive and the ideas around the philosophy. I think us to be controlled by us because that's the value that we provide. Right. So for example, we have the play come in I. Want Him to be able to think all the team I want him to be able to take feedback I want him to be somewhat humble and I want him to have the good work ethic because if you don't have those things as know as well like you know doing a lot of sport, Jiu Jitsu and weightlifting if you don't have those basic things in sport and the same in East sports. Impossible to be successful, and so for us, it's like we want to control that and also having we've made the mistake before just sponsoring teams then just like we can't control likes. How often their training? What time they waking up other following systems because often they're not and then you get really mixed results since we found that doing it ourselves, controlling it ourselves without coaches are sort of systems that we have in place to control things. Is actually a lot better because it reads a lot more consistency just one of the main thing. Interesting yeah I mean it you know it's obviously worked for guys pretty well in illegal agents and I guess like. I think it's good study for anyone to look at like the golden five and six one point six with like Mayo and Cuban and lauded and pags era. You know these guys will except for Pasha. Those guys were together for the best part of Ten Years Hall Unin Pasture I think for maybe six or through everything through when there with A. Box when was vote as pro with whatever I say came from says one point six into sky and to retain like that you could say that a Lotta this strategy because they're attained wasted a lot when I was a semi pro player, their strategy was to make it a three v three situation always win because I been together for so long they synergy was so great. So in the clutches in the trays fully foles they in advantage when it comes to the situation, they are pips boot machine because otherwise like. It with my team Sammy pertain that I had in Australia without reaching those hots we always had trouble getting a fifth plan for exactly the same reason you talking about we had full people who are very on the same wavelength we were all massive nodes is in we used to study the game like mad more. So than anyone else in that Thomas especially and we very tight knit but we always had trouble finding that fifth and when we finally found that right fee who had skill to were able to qualify for a life whatever that we played, but it's interesting to say you're saying that you know it's the. It's definitely not the way that most teams attacking it. If if at all, they'll build it around one stop Playa saw an article come out from Tame sacred say saying if you were to do it again, would you do it the same way? He said Yep the way that I did it in the why do it again was? One of the best players in the world or the best poppy, and then it'd be able to tame around him and that's what we saying value right now you know they'll pick up. Ace Blitz Organization will announce the new roster, which is actually is one. Inside they're going to build around that I. Did. You know anyone else in the market doing what you guys are doing in that respect. In our region. I know I know like, for example, like the the Korean teams have very much orientated towards like. They find their own talent. In, talent out I think there's a good academy system. They're both fully legends and overwatch. I think within like Hong Kong Taiwan. In some but I think honestly, this sort of our our speed, let's say we take an example right? We got into that game November of last year. We got a first championship in the first six months we won the MSS which like a an event between Vietnam. We lost the final this time, which was a little bit disappointed qualified for well. If I, compared to some of the other teams should talk them a little bit but like. They've been around for like five seven years and never got a championship within the LMS or within the region, which is l. combined to become the yes and so i WanNa say think that what we're doing in. Like. It makes a difference because it shows that we're able to speed up very quickly and we were able to basically bring together a bunch of guys like the guys that we have with illegal. Of course, they gripe plays individually. Bebel meshed together into something that. They've been at previous teams like our juggler. Midland is we're at previous teams in the lms that never won championships, but they came here and they won championships and even overwatch team yesterday Korean contenders. Top of Group A we went through trials we came from Pacific where no nineteen bunch of players that people thought these guys will as bins and they played a big success. But came to us, and then we've been put our approach to coaching into it. Now, they like really would play collectively as an individual. So I think like for us one of the biggest things I think which is on his all the coaches that we hire like we get guys like want to die basically full the team and work incredibly hard. Also WanNa be like fathers. Because in the end, it's like if you look at it top coach, it makes everything difference and if we have the same philosophy around. Work work ethic ability to take feedback being humble. All those things just add up and I think. A lot of emphasis on that I think we've put a lot more emphasis than any other team at least within our. Region saying, Korea, a lot of teams are doing a really good job when it comes to Kademi building talent. Yeah I feel like. Just sponsoring the team. It's just like kids. Yeah. It's hot. You know this too much room for lock and in our business it's like we want to be able to deliver championship because right now at this stage when all the biggest sports team in the world where like to small to medium size one, one of the best. Methodologies is to deliver championship. Boca, seeing a lot more on that

Bill Barnwell on NFL Undefeated Teams + Monday Preview

"Bill Barnwell. It is late Sunday night almost midnight, which means it's time for you to make me smarter about the NFL. I'm going to try my best Baba Bill. Barnwell is a senior writer for ESPN host of the Bill Barnwell show and he's procrastinating his deadline to talk to me. So we just watched the saints and the packers on Sunday night football and the saints lost without. Their Star Receiver Michael Thomas. But that did not stop us from getting a whole bunch of touchdowns drew brees and Aaron Rodgers. Each threw for three a piece. But in the end, the packers won the saints lost and they've now lost New Orleans says back to back games for the first time since two thousand, seventeen bill I know you are writing a new piece about drew brees coming off of the two year deal that drew brees signed in the offseason and what we've now seen from him through these first three weeks what did you see in Sunday night's games he regressing improving? What do we have with bruise right now? Okay. So public drew brees definitely improving this is a better performance from him. Me brees was downright bad on Monday night in week two against the raiders before we got to garbage time and breeze didn't do deep very frequently until this game was out of hand but I think the concerns i. have read or have heard about arm strength or how deep is passes typically go they don't really get how reason this offense actually worked. Breezes sort of like. A singles hitter in baseball like Tony Gwynn lagging time where a post player with no range in basketball he's not going to suddenly start throwing deeply. He's Patrick Mahomes at forty one years old breeze has succeeded. Over the last three years while throwing the shortest paths in the League because he's posted the three best single season completion. In NFL history. Now. The good news for the Saints Good News For Saints Fans is that brees was much more accurate on Sunday night it was twenty, nine, thirty, six for two, hundred, eighty, eight yards a lot of that West Alvin Kamara who did a lot of the work but still going to end up thirty six is still better than where brees was. The bad news was just about everything else. The Saints Lost Starters Jared Cook and Andres P to injuries while devante. Adams List Aaron Rodgers threw for two hundred, eighty, three yards and those three touchdowns you mentioned. The saints focused on adding veterans with nicknames Emmanuel Sanders and balcony. Jenkins this off season. But. Sanders hasn't been able to stand out with ankle Thomas Injured and Jenkins has been picked apart in pass coverage including Mercedes Lewis touchdown on Sunday night the attorney for more accurate breeze that was a bright spot. But if the saints continue to struggle with injuries and get disappointing play from their stars, the Orleans is going to need this version of free stick around to have a chance to compete in the NFC. So the packers emerged three no, and that's where a lot of focus the rest of our conversation here on the teams that are now undefeated through three weeks of the NFL season. So bill, let's push deeper into the NFC here because the Chicago Bears Be Chicago bears are somehow three you know and they do it by beating the Falcons thirty to twenty six Chicago was trailing by sixteen head coach. Matt Nagy Decides to pull quarterback Mitch Trubisky in favor of the veteran nick foles mister big bleep nick himself who goes on to throw three touchdown passes in the fourth quarter. So I have a two part question for you now. Why are the Falcons physically incapable of holding onto a fourth quarter lead and? Secondly, where does this leave the whole quarterback situation in Chicago? Let me answer the second part of that question I. The bears are going to flail by the seat of their pants for the rest of the season I would assume that nick foles is going to start until he struggles and the bears trailing by two touchdowns in the fourth quarter a couple weeks from now, I would point Mitch Trubisky will come in and lead them to victory and the cycle will start the new. Unfortunately I don't have one simple takeaway for our poor friends and Atlantic. Is Different From what we saw in week to as. Much. As the defense was disappointing in this game, the offense really deserves a fair chunk of the blame for what happened scored a touchdown on the opening drive third quarter, and then basically tried to sit on their lead, Matt Ryan and company REPA- total three first downs on their next six is before the bears took the lead back and the only scored one field goal over that time after bisky intercession back running back Brian L. dropped an easy third down conversion which would have put the Falcons and field goal range. Then on the next drive kicker, young coup miss a forty eight yard field goal attempt. I know. I mean let's be fair. The Falcons defense was very bad. I'm not sure the Falcons are gonNA make any drastic changes on Monday morning, but Arthur blank can feel great about seeing this happen. On his seventy eighth birthday and. I believe I'm not mistaken not the only person celebrating birthday on Sunday. Having Birthday Pamela. Day Pablo. Yeah this is a hard way to discover that you share a birthday with the owner of the Atlanta Falcons Bill, which feels like you just cast a pox upon my house.

"And. Hello and welcome to another round of highly questionable things, this is Sarah Spain. If you like what you see here, you should be downloading podcasts. That's what she said. She's requesting that you do that. So as popular what do you like on today's show Sarah getting paid like Nick foles, valid puppy. Those the NBA need plan. Russell Westbrook for threaten in just fan. Okay. Where you guys as scared as I was when he hit in the middle the notes on everything I love because I believe is insanity about his anger. Listen to this. You can't disrespect that dude in particular. He will take all the fines that come with it. He obviously crossed the line there when he throws in and your wife, and you do need to find this and James Dolan, you need to find him as well because they can't be seen treating your customers. This way, I will say this though, it's not the action that being punished if they do get fine. It's the reaction to seeing that on video saying that Russell Westbrook needs to be punished which he does for the reasons that Dan said because you can't have athletes screaming at the crowd at the fans at the customers doesn't mean that the guy in the crowd wasn't in the wrong as well. We never get to find out. Exactly what he said, we get to see his interview where he plays the victim and says, oh, we didn't swear my wife never even stood up or set a single thing. I don't think you're getting that reaction from Russell Westbrook, unless she said something unless she was very much involved as well. But we never get to see that the focus is always going to be on the athlete and how they react. And I'm honestly surprised that some of them still react to fans. No. Knowing that they're there to try to get there, and they do need to be punished when they react. But the NBA also needs to take account of how close the fans are in their sport. And how easy it is. For them to show up have a friend videotape it and try to get a rise out of somebody for social media. This way, he is. So you'll let the rent and is the same way to use the same exact way she'll be right that show before. Oh. Well, the words read Brent given full fifty million dollars guarantee. Does anyone find this as weird as I do? We don't know what other entertainers earn. We don't chronicle the salaries to every penny of your favorite musician or your favorite actor. But we know some how much Nick foles getting which is eighty eight million. How much of it is guaranteed which is fifty million the Jags their biggest problem was the quarterback position they need. Someone more competent than Blake Bortles. I just argue recent success to the contrary that the Nick foles that got Jeff Fisher fired without an offensive line is closer to the real Nick foles than the one. You saw in Philadelphia where he had that offensive line one of the best I've seen I think that the real Nick foles might be showing up here and having full seasons of good place. I don't think they're going to regret the signing the offensive coordinator for the eagles back in two thousand seventeen when he had his Super Bowl run is now coaching there. And that connection could bring him some of the success that he found in Philly that being said, I think they'll probably. Regret the money because I don't think they were negotiating really against anybody else. I think the signings. Good. They still have a top five defense in DP away. They needed to bring a quarterback who could help the offense. I don't think they needed to pay him so much to do it. This is great for nuke foles. You know, he wanted to play again this year. Remember that one? Oh, that's right. You remember that hair is yes, there was a playoff history here, bang bang. There is. That is how Sarah season ended last year. She is a big Chicago fan. Well, guess what we have a new kicker now and his last name is blue. It's so everything's gonna be fine blew it. That's true. "But at some point that organization also has a responsibility to do the ultimate thing, which is win football games. It is winning football games. That's what the eagles have to do in. I can't find a single way in letting Nick foles walk that the eagles got themselves closer to that destination. I can't see how the eagles got better. Maybe the Jags will sign him. Maybe the jabs will get better. Maybe John Elway is sitting over in a corner now with the shakes realizing that he traded for a for a quarterback that that frankly, I don't think is anywhere near the value that Nick foles is he trades for Joe flacco sitting there say man, if I had just waited a couple of weeks, maybe the rest of the league has a mini ripple effect and soon somebody's going to sign him at that point. We're going to know what the value is perceived to be on Nick foles. But what we know today is that the eagles got rid of a piece that they may need that their playoffs hope may hinge on and while they did the right thing for one. I'm not sure they did the right thing for the rest of the roster straight ahead. We're gonna head to Indy for the combine. Plus are we one hundred percent sure? "Yeah. Welcome to another middle of a highly questionable week this guy right here. Always in the middle of things that are highly questionable is good is what do you like on the show today is a mean still here feel like he never leaves. He's under the desk. Are they goes making the right move by leading falls walk. If L Sean Jeffrey catches that ball in the playoffs is n- foles the starting quarterback for this football team. I remember talking to Rodney Harrison about this. And he said if the ball is caught. Yeah. Nick foles would be the starter. If it's not caught. This is what happens both sides did right by Nick foles didn't have to come back last year. But he did. So because he just won the championship in one of the feel of being with the organization again and giving it another shot. He was happy as a backup. Philadelphia just returned the favor by letting him go. This isn't what's best for the franchise. You should get something in return for someone like Nick foles, but they did the human thing they helped the guy who helped them while they also he was just an insurance policy. They also did the right thing by their team when you consider that even if they franchise they'd have to make cuts left and right just to get under the salary cap. And for what to potentially trade him to a team when now it feels like his suit. Aren't getting thinner and thinner there's probably only two teams you can even sign with as a free agent. So it just didn't make a whole lot of sense financially for the eagles. And when you think about what this team is you have to commit to somebody. You have to commit to Carson Wentz or you have to commit to Nick foles, obviously, they're probably only going to get maybe a twenty twenty third round pick as compensation for foles. But obviously you commit to Carson Wentz. And see where this thing goes rather than just have him as an insurance policy and potential trade bait, but having to cut people as a result. I don't think this team has been given up yet as a whole with Carson Wentz as the leader. Well, see now the play of I'm telling you that they tried to save money..

"Eagles will play the tag on Nick foles before trying to trade him the thinking behind that they would like to avoid him signing what the division rival in Washington or New York, and let's take a deeper died into what could be next for this Super Bowl MVP because the franchise tag for quarterback expected to be around twenty five million dollars that would make retaining foles nearly impossible for the eagles. Philly. Twenty three million dollars over the cap for next season. That's the most of any team in the NFL. So it's a good thing with Riddick isn't going anywhere all around her right now and having a breakdown everything. But would it be the right decision to franchise tag? Nick foles in this situation. I understand what. Philadelphia's trying to they're trying to get value for a player the right now, his desire to have a guy of Nick foles caliber is way up there with many football teams who are in precarious quarterback positions as far as how their detriment looks going in two thousand nineteen it's it's a bit of a risky move with. I understand this is a team that how he rose Roseman their general manager. He's as good at manipulating cap is anyone and he obviously has a plan in mind here. We'll see how this one's playing out. You know, one of the teams that you didn't mention right there as far as maybe being impossible landing spot that would that would make sense for Nick foles as maybe the Jacksonville Jaguars. Given the fact that he has already with John D Filipo the new offense coordinator down there who was the quarterback coach with him in Philadelphia one point in time and. And look I will say this though, any team that is that is looking at acquiring Nick, he has special special relationship with Doug Peterson in special disrespectful come rotary as far as how this roster was constructed as well. And if you're going to be acquiring him, you better make sure that you have the right pieces in place in order to extract the maximum value out of him from a planning perspective because not all coordinate not everything just transferred from one place to the next. I think it's going to be important for the team and for Nick pick the right place. So he can kind of pick up where you left off in Philadelphia. Well, let me ask you this Louis kind of how the team would respond to him getting the franchise taxes. It seemed as though he's given everything that he has to Philly. I mean waiting time and then going in winning Super Bowl for him being the MVP and then moving forward with this decision. Is there an effect that could be had in the locker room? Yeah. I'll tell you what this team really does respect Nick foles. I think the players want. What's best, Nick foles? He's one of the selfless individuals that you will meet I think people are rooting for him to go ahead out there. And maybe get a starting job somewhere and continue on his career tunnel. Like put the rest his time in Philadelphia because we all know that it's going to be Carson Wentz. He's football team. I think I think in the locker room, you know, the the players are going to, you know, the players are professionals players are going to do whatever is necessary in order to continue to advance their own careers and do what's best for the football team, regardless of how maybe one individual player is being dealt with. But I think overall there's no question there's a lot of support for Nick, I think Nick is going to go onto another football team and really continue his career in a very positive way. It's just going to be very important that he picks the right place in the right place. Picks him. We appreciate your time Lewis. You are certainly our first pick for all the breaking of NFL news. If I can't for you here because there were so many moments coming out of the all star game. And again, we've chosen a few. This might have been our favorites. This didn't even make the list guys. "You stand. But for everybody else are the eagles making the right call here with Carson Wentz. I really think they are. I watched Carson Wentz two years ago. And he was on his way to NBC's. I know probably Philadelphia fans and even fans run the NFL are wondering about his durability with the last two seasons. But he's big he's physical, and let's not forget. Early in the season. Nick foles was the starter. And there was no stuff coming out locked room. They couldn't wait for Carson Wentz to get back. So let's not forget that hold that thought. Just take a look at this before you look how similar production has been for Winston Foltz over the last three years both quarterbacks average just over twenty three completions per start since two thousand sixteen and are separated by one past yard in their average start. Now bulls holds the slightest of edges in total QBR, but very similar output from Phillies quarterbacks go, Dan. Let me squash. This first second. Two years ago. Carson Wentz was Patrick Mahomes before Patrick Mahomes. He was the guy that was running around doing crazy stuff on the field. Technically having the second best second season ever quarterback behind Marino. Patch Mahomes has surpassed that but he was lighting the league on fire. And then we're talking about as a general manager. You certainly have the difficulty of what is best for my team. Now, what is best for my team over the long haul? The question becomes does. Nick foles change your organization over the next decade likely know, this Carson Wentz change organization over that same ten years. Absolutely. Absolutely. This was one of the bright bright stars in the NFL before the injury came on. So it's not even a discussion. It's sort of this which one's more likely his ceiling and who ceiling presents a higher upside for whether it's a ten year period even three to five year. I think that the eagles would tell you unanimously the answer is Carson Wentz. But I would just say this one thing that I think is clear is that the. Best way for this team to proceed and to fill out the rest of its roster needs is declaring one way or the other because talks about some of the particulars of the financials with Nick foles, if he is franchise tag. He's probably gonna count about twenty five million dollars against the cap for the Philadelphia Eagles. This is a team that obviously many late push. But they have some parent needs need to get another wide receiver, maybe pay some money to upgrade that running back position at some secondary depth. So once they make their decision they cast their died. They commit themselves to most likely Carson Wentz. It's going to allow them to be aggressive in pursuing other roster holes. Well, and I will say this this situation worked as long as it could. I think you know, you had down those two work together. Well, it resulted in a Super Bowl championship again, the pairing this year, but you got the sense that maybe we've gone as far as we could with what looks like maybe two starting quarterbacks regardless if one is the right fit for the long haul into fields point eventually one of those guys are going to pay. It's either going to be Nick foles are Carson Wentz? Which guy do you believe can? Overcome some of that money coming from those other players, right? Because once you pay the quarterback, the secondary's a little weaker. Your offensive line's a little bit less. What guy can overcome some of those deficiencies still help you be very good football team championship caliber football team. It's Carson Wentz. And I think they've done a great job. I mean, even bringing Nick foles back. They don't make the playoffs this year without rentals. They don't make a run in a real close. Rod. I mean, if alshon doesn't have all of the and who knows what happens. Yeah. You'll even this season. But I think they're making the right call. No, no question in my mind as well. Well, again, the expectation that Nick foles perhaps likely franchised, and then they'll look at a tag traits so to speak. We'll continue to watch that. Of course, wasn't the post to bowl Wednesday. The Rams were hoping for the mood somewhat somber yesterday in LA as the Rams cleaned out their lockers and closed out their season sounding like a team already ready to look ahead..

He has informed the team he is voiding his twenty million dollar option for two thousand nineteen. This is after the team said, it would be picking up the option. This is according to our Adam Schefter, foes must pay the eagles two million to opt out. And it does pave the way for the eagles to place to franchise tag on foles, the expectation being that point they would franchise him. And then try to trade him field. Where do we go from here? What's next Dan is a father of triplets? No this game. Well, it's a game of tag. That is on hand now for the Philadelphia Eagles, and Nick foles, they have until March fifth to decide whether or not to use the franchise tag or the transition tag on Nick, foles and logic would suggest and certainly reporting would tell you as well, they are leaning towards is in this for inch is tag on Nick foles, and for those that are saying the why bother franchise tagging Nick foles as opposed to just letting him walk in three agency and potentially recouping a traffic next year via compensatory selections. The answer is this branch is tag Nichols. All of a sudden, you dictate where he ends up now. Yes, there are some financial juggling between now and eventual trade but do look for the eagles franchise tag Nichols. And then not quite Anthony Davis level, but you can at least start seeking. Trade partners and see who else might need a quarterback because we know on the NFL one of the annual traditions is somewhere between eight and twelve teams every single year are on the search for new quarter. And there's an argument that he won't be the same player outside of Philadelphia. But he has the Super Bowl MVP, Dan, as you survey the landscape and look at the teams that are out there where are some potential landing spots. I know everyone likes to go to Jacksonville because down there is often corner. I look at Miami with the dolphins and couple reasons so they just hired Brian Flora's as their new head coach he comes from New England. What did Nick foles do under two years ago to New England in the Super Bowl hung forty plus on them? And then they're going to hire. Chad Ochej is their offensive coordinator also from New England. So this is an offensive coordinator. That's very adept and understanding player skill sets. What do we know in New England multiple systems this guy? Does this very well this guy does this really good? What is Nick fills do distribute the ball get it out of his hand? So Chatto Shay that marriage of offense coordinator to quarterback is. So such a big deal. I love that. And then. Nick foles statistically is the number one quarterback when when it gets the ball out of his hands. He gets the bottom saints quicker than anybody in the NFL dolphins have very subpar offensive line. How do you help bet? Offense of line. Get a quarterback gets the bottom sands coach agree. Well, do I think it's a great idea as far as similarities in the coach styles and what they do offense and that quick delivery, which is is very key. 'cause that three most important things in the passing game protection. Sure protection. And getting it out quick listen at some point. We will stop asking this question because it sent point. I assume the situation will resolve itself to don't get mad until we do and have actually this..

"And losing both. And my my answer is not a chance if they were to have lost in the postseason. I think they would have lost to the chiefs. But they didn't what how do you feel about that? Johny thanks for the call in California. And I didn't realize that both are northern California kids with Brady and gov. It is interesting to think that if they lose back to back Super Bowls would that drive Brady even more to try and get back there? But he's going to be forty two a year from now any through for over five hundred yards in that loss a year ago to the eagles. That's why when I break it down, and I look at I usually like the college pro even a great high school game. I'll look at the quarterbacks who has the better quarterback usually wins that game I'm gonna say eight out of ten times, right? So Brady's better quarterback much better. I thought foles for your ago, which by the way, the reincarnation and nine lives. Nick foles. And now the story where I heard John fasten that update talking about the they may franchise tag him. Are you kidding me twenty million? And then try and get something on the open market for him. Or is it a move where they could move Carson Wentz. I mean who knows what you're going to get when he comes back because his mobility was a big man, Nick foles. I know Andrew luck gut comeback player the earn rightfully so with the job. He did an indie 'cause they wrote him off the shoulder against Roe never be the same. And. But again in the got to the play offs, and they tried to be a different team. I'll just talking about what right did within the same thing. With Nike these guys over. Thank it when they get to the playoffs. And they forget what got in there. But to me, the Nick foles story who's gonna trade and pay him twenty million bucks. Sorry. So if the franchise tag is twenty million whatever the number is who's going to give up something big and pay Nick foles twenty million. And hope he has that postseason magic because his. L Sean Jeffrey Messia, they still had the go stick it in. But you know, his. Playoffs swaggers much different than the regular season. But I I don't know if they're going to be a twenty million dollar tanker the only team, I think comfortable and with avenue foles as their QB Philadelphia. And they don't have enough money to keep wins. And I don't know the salary cap hitter damage, it would be to trade winds probably a pretty good number but twenty million for Nick foles. They franchise tag. And they're gonna keep them. And then they're going to move on that that would be my guess, I have no connection at W IPM Philly. None of that. I'm just telling you. "Now his back. That's not a concern of me going forward. What's a concern is how much foot? Football. Did he learn watching Nick foles because Nick foles people forget he was a different quarterback a several years ago. So I just believe in the process, I believe that quarterbacks the more they see after a big time talent once you because now the now the thing in Philadelphia's how do I get Carson Wentz to the playoffs? How do I put him in a position that he can be like, Nick foles? So you have to have a fortified backup plan because he's going to get injured. He's a rugged big athletic quarterback. And you're hoping that he's going to grow out of that. And you're hoping that he's going to play the game smarter that the franchise and the franchise quarterback doesn't put themselves in jeopardy, but I believe in overall growth that Carson Wentz is the franchise quarterback because I've seen I've seen Nick foles get so much better as a passer, and I'm just hoping that Carson Wentz stops looking to the intermediate stop looking to the check down, and he starts to have a little more Nick foles in them and scan the field and take more chance. Nces down the field. Throwing because you're a huge believer in the the prospect or the talent the big strong fast athletic big arm like Nick foles chat or I'm sorry. Carson Wentz checks all those box and countable plane in the league right Amy's musician from being a prospect to he has shown me in the NFL that. Yes. Oh, yeah. He can he can be my start. We saw him for three quarters of a season. Arguably be the best player in the league just era goes we've seen him play at a very high level. I have a question that might catch a little off guard by think it'll make sense at at what point in a one. If you guys have lost the talk rule game. Do you would would Brady still have been the start of the next year at what point did you guys decide to you know, that you know, what we have a bigger stronger faster guy that we just gave a big contract to and we're going with this other guy who at that time was not yet a great quarterback. But the team played its best football with him. He's there look, I don't think there was one point in a one where we said, okay, this this is the guy I think that when you look at time you looked at crates, and he looked Chris Chris brings of a good point about the ability to develop and grow and get better. And Tom was that guy in he some degree? He still is that guy and he still is chasing improvement. And that that's what you are banking on is those traits. And I think Carson Wentz has those traits it to me it's a little bit. Like Andrew luck the colts that a good job of going improving their offense flying, Andrew luck. Did a much better job of getting rid of the football of not putting himself in harm's way. Unnecessarily for five yard completion. And carson's. Gotta understand that too. It's great to be rugged and tough and all those things, but you also have a responsibility to everybody else to be there to be part of that team to be healthy. And you've gotta make better decisions. And that that's a tough thing for guys to learn who have sort of an inherent bravado. You've gotta get his cheese Motoo. You've got you got to get past that because the strong thing to do is to get rid of the ball. And do what's best for the greater good coach tick around coming up patriots? Keep pace with one of the best offenses in NFL history. That's next on first. Back here. Coach Manji we're talking Tom Brady. So braiding pats advanced to their eighth straight conference title game after beating the chargers this past week and as more they get the toughest offense in football in the Kansas City Chiefs. They didn't beat the chiefs forty three to forty earlier the season. But that was at Gillette where the pats went undefeated this season. Now, they're Arrowhead where the chiefs went seven in one almost undefeated Brady says it'll take a great effort to beat them. A second time around. QC's great football team. It really are. We played them at home. You know, they've been they've been having incredible season..

"And I just think he was making decision. Do you wanna go with the winning quarterback or the franchise quarterback because they want to go with the winning quarterback? They say we're foles if they wanna go to franchise quarterback they were winced. But we don't know if we'll see a play full season or even when a playoff game. Thank you have to go with the young franchise quarterback. I mean, you put the money into last year he wouldn't have gotten her causing would not have gotten hurt. I think he been MVP, but if was a fifth we'd all be drawn. This is Nick foles gone. I'm what you that speech. I think you gotta you know, if he played in the middle of the different, you know, stated, but I just feel like that that you have to stay with the guy you draft it. I mean, he was playing so great. And but Nick foles fist this offense per he does what he's supposed to do an office. I think when sometimes come outside office as time goes on, you know, ally maybe next year when winces back has a full season. I think I think I think for sure I think all of us will say they make the right decision. If I'm a team that's gonna go out and spend big money on Nick foles. I I'm a little bit leery because I'm like if Doug Peterson as part of the package, I'll spend the money on Nick foles, but someone all that coaching tree to me. Someone that's worked with Nick foles in Philadelphia needs to be a part of this package because I just don't put plug Nick foles into any offensive system and expect to get these type. Results. And so I if I'm the Philadelphia Eagles, or if I many of these other first of all, I'm not sure what the market is going to be for Nick foles, particularly in a good situation. And maybe there is some bad team. You pay a lot of money and he can go play for the Bengals in their new head coach. Maybe that's what he'll he'll end up doing. We'll see, but I would want Nick foles in this system working with people that have had this success with him not just Nick foles and some new coaches never played with. Why got one example when I always bring it up is the rich Gannon example. And I think that marriage made in heaven was rich Gannon John grooten, Nick foes, and now we're talking Doug Peterson. But people forget in the details of that then Jon Gruden left rich Gannon, and everybody's all is he going to go back to being the journeymen. Or is he going to be still rich Gannon? He improved the next year. And that was the MVP season of for rich Gannon. So, you know, maybe he's learned enough. He got his moxie he feels himself. He Tana step out on your own regardless of what the eagles one. It's a mutual option. Like eagles can say we want you at twenty million. Carson Winston his eight million. And then we still have a franchise quarterback in the two of you guys at twenty eight that works under the numbers. But it's tough to go out there and really get his man this is about security as well. Go. Let's return to the LA Coliseum out century where the Rams ran roughshod over the Cowboys win Saturday coming into the game. Dallas defense was getting a lot of love. And they were probably just shocked everyone else's C J Anderson, put it on them. But they weren't the only disappointment this weekend. Andrew luck was allegedly the hottest quarterback in the league. But it looked like his arm gave out in Saturday's boy lost to the chiefs. This is tough for me. I can go either way what was more disappointing Andrew luck. Or the Dallas Cowboys defense. I'm gonna go with a slight lean Andrew luck. One ten of a Levin. My man her promoting him as the MVP the leave. And do this guy was out there throwing the javelin. I'm not sure I'm most he's got a noodle arm. Man. I'm not so sure about Andrew luck. Dallas defense was bad. But I better shot of them recovering me thinking more highly of him or again than than Andrew lucked me ever seen him the same way. I did. Yeah. For me, if the Cowboys defense now, you may great argument because I was sitting there battling this conversation tells like, whoa, Andrew luck man noodle arm like he's putting too much body behind these stroz in new mechanics with..

"He said O'Brien shudder. Myers full. Does he see host closely? Cowboys shut Meyer. I like that name Schottenheimer is the actual, right? One for this guy and the Seahawks were boring. They've got a quarterback. And Russell Wilson that anyone would fear if they were on the other side, and they just run the ball run the ball. And then ask Russell Wilson to bail them out. Which is basically what they've been doing season anytime, they get behind it. Just Russell Wilson at the end of games when he's behind a lot of fun. But Seattle has now gone to the other extreme they've got this electric at quarterback. And what they do is really boring until they asked him to bail them out. Yeah. But Brian Schottenheimer them to do that all season long. That's the reason they've got here. It's run run run power running game. And even I heard Tony romo's say earlier in the year. You think they're gonna pass this time? They're doing what got them there. It's their identity. So all of a sudden in the playoffs you get into a situation where late night game. They've done the same thing the entire time. It is the fourth quarter down. Three. It is time for Russell Wilson to save. You he did got a penalty in the first place stalled that drive, and then they couldn't stop Dallas. It's not Brian Schottenheimer fault that they failed in this particular game. It's his reason that they got here. Could they have done more throw it to lock in Baldwin? I don't know we'd have to rewind the entire clock and do it differently. All season long. I love the Seahawks though, sunshine does love the times. It's hard. I feel bad for her. You know, my heart bleeds for her. Only. Thanks highly questionable..

"Hello and welcome to another highly questionable week of stuff. This guy is at the center of highly questionable. This guy's always highly questionable. What do you like on the show today? There's a giant ball of wax at stake tonight, marbles everywhere college national championship, baby all the marble. Listen this out. That's disturbing. Valid buddy. Was last night skin more about Nick foles being close or call pork each oaken dog. It is parking Porky. This is an insult to dogs dogs. Don't choke like that. We've got goalposts for you. You got horrified. Mascot situation there where the mascot is crestfallen that the bear mascot bang still smiling because the face never changes. Yes. To kinda smile all the time, even when he's heartbroken. But I really do think here is we're in the situation where people are missing something. The Philadelphia Eagles offense of line mold everyone last year. The Philadelphia Eagles offensive line during this winning streak has played against Aaron Donald tell you Khalil Mack. They played against JJ watt. They've allowed zero sacks and three times the quarterback has been hit. These people are to be feared, and they just wanna huge on the road. Well, people are also missing out they were getting closer and closer to living in a world where this man is an actual thority on NFL football. Because the Nick foles prediction. Just keeps coming true over and over and over again. And once again, he was clutch in a fourth quarter of a playoff game. But so which Mr. Bisky he was pretty close to he got his team to that point. I say what you will about how the Chicago Bears used that final timeout. Maybe they should've clocked. It there save that time out putting themselves in position to get a closer field goal. But he did his part two. And ooh, Cody parkey kind of did his part to that one was blocked that line let the defensive players get through a little bit too much, and that kick was blocked. So it seemed like everybody was clutched in that fourth quarter. It just happens that Nick foles comes out top again. So this guy colleague, Mike, what was big deal about colleague, my he couldn't get to falls far down on go with the on the line. Here comes Nick foles, buddy. He hits Golden Gate right there for the winning touchdown bridge to the super Golden Gate a work and the eagles fan celebrated the game all like eagles fans. Do. That's not who..

"We even seize on the crossbar, not even hit the bottom. The crown if the city Philadelphia's thankful for them if that thing had been hooking, right? And then the last minute his blow in that made it go through. Nothing was going, right. Hook through at the end. I don't know some I a man that was videos just like that or people stay in their same see wearing the hat certain way. He had his rally cap on time. I after that when I'm sure your morning sponsored by Gillette, clear gel, college football. National title game is tonight guys Alabama Clemson facing off for the third time in four years. Chris Carter, what's the key to Clemson upsetting Alabama? Or are you going to get to their quarterback view to build make Alabama? Because now they can run the ball and they can throw the ball in league level. You have to try to take one of those way. And I believe affecting the passer with that defensive front of Clemson this going to be an exciting football. No team in college football is more prepared to upset Alabama than the Clemson type, and it's going to be harder to get to the quarterback with their star D tackle out because of that suspension didn't hurt them against Notre Dame could hurt them in this game. I wanna see we've never seen Alabama play. Clemson. When Clemson as this type of quarterback dropback pure passer and Trevor Lawrence very curious I'll sunshine plays in this game. The freshmen who they inserted into the lineup early in this season. I to the NFL now as equal Elliot one is first playoff game over the weekend. But he's already got a site set on payday reports are that Zeke wants a contract extension this off season knick should the boys. Extended a no-brainer. Yes. Absolutely. He coulda had thirty cares for one yard in this game. And they lost. They still got to extend him. He's the best player on the team. But he further solidified that with that spectacular performance yesterday. Yeah. Look at the contract Todd Gurley got at about ten percent to it. That's probably what. Ezekiel Elliott's looking at is the expense special ever since he came into the league led the league in rushing out of his three years. Let's not forget the other year. He was suspended. He would've led the league potentially in rushing that season they have to extend them based on the precedent to set with Todd Gurley with the ram. They gave him a contract early. Zeke deserves a pay raise. I. The eagles game. Nick foles continued his playoff magic beating the Chicago Bears found golden Tate in the end zone, which just under a minute ago. His fourth straight playoff win CO. Impressive was Nick foles. Yesterday, sold was impressed. I was more impressed with the eagles in the team. So there's magic carpet ride, Nick. I'm I believe in the tooth fairy. I leave men at the to fall out leave it onto oh, they fly. They still go through they make deliveries and everything. Really? I don't believe in Nick foles magic carpet ride because I know football's a team for Nick foles. Actually, this was the worst game. He's played amongst the must win games. But if the worst game you played includes of fourth and gold touchdown pass to win. The football game means you've been one hell of a run. He now has the highest playoff passer rating in NFL history, passing Bart star for guys with at least one hundred fifty attempts helicopter. That's not the best for your step career. Okay. Well, I mean, I mean it just. Until you. I tells you that it's true you can say to misleading stat, but it is a mislocate on the. Bears lost this came on a forty three yard missed field goal to Foyt end their season after winning twelve games and the NFC north Nick how much of a missed opportunity was this for Chicago enormous. This is not overstating it. There is no guarantee this team is in this position next year. The the best offense is in football year. After you're pretty consistent barring injury or quarterback change. The best defense is in football. We typically see some turnover Jacksonville and Minnesota number one and number two and everything last year this year six eight like still good, but not overwhelmingly dominant. Additionally, Chicago, they're coordinator Vic Fangio he might not be there coordinator next year. He could be a head coach next season..

"I'll come back to the Cowboys and Seahawks and a second first Zion. Williamson continues to defy gravity the three sixty dunk the one he gave a seven out of ten I was going to mention that. If this is a seven out of ten and in game three sixty with his head above the rim. Then what is it ten? The reason why because he could see his body turned about a quarter before you even take Saul watches, buddy. He'll be facing towards the silent. You see that? All it's only seventy. Somebody due to man. I just did. He knows he knows what he's gotta do. If he wanted three going to full three sixty faced a buck. And then do those Nick foles with the past two golden tainting on dislike Chet. Eagles are happy. They traded for him yesterday. A lot of noise surrounding golden tape prior to this game that he hadn't been as productive that this was one of the midseason acquisition where it looked like maybe the teen trading. The player away knew something the team getting and didn't know he had two of the biggest plays including these single. Biggest play of the game. Boy seahawks. Check out the stiff arm from Zeke and see I know you love this the Hetty play. This happened about three and a half minutes left. Easily coulda gone out of bounds. Cuts back inbounds to get another forty seconds off the clock here with the Cowboys up three at the time Zeke equally degree all round game. Not only running the ball's a pass receiver, but one that hidden gyms when he was coming out of college was his ability to block, and you could see a couple times they ran a quarterback Zeke was one to lead blockers getting his guy on the ground. Physical game by Zeke guy wants a new contract Owen. He he earned one same game. Cowboys threatening K J right makes great. Interception in the end zone for Seattle RC. I saw you tweeting about this is this one of those sixty percent interceptions on the receiver noticed a quarterbacks fault quarterback had plenty of space. He wouldn't getting rushed. He should've let him so he can run away from the linebacker. It also should have been passed Fearance. Now, a great recovery for an interception by one good linebackers that we have playing this game. But a number things went, but it starts with the quarterback leading into space wide open. He'll right from that line. I let's get full highlights from this game. Dallas seattle. There's Dak everyone expecting a lot out of hand. Cowboys down four in the fourth deck Prescott. With a nice pass to Amari Cooper. It's a thirty four yard gain for Dak his longest pass of the day. Four plays later. Zeke runs in the one yard score Dallas up three fast-forward less than three minutes to go. This is third and fourteen. This is Dak being on mobile and everything runs for the first down. All. The way to the one next play would run it in for the score. And there it is. Jerry Jones super fired up. Cowboys pull out the twenty four twenty two win. Here is dot Prescott. After his first playoff win. This. We have so much confidence dome into the game and communism as we played a great great Seattle team. But just as. I mean, just all about the way we the way we compete success versity about about us. Can we talk about the way this guy fought on third down running it for sixteen yards to get the first down? And then set up the touchdown. I mean, what were you thinking when you saw takeoff? Simple you ago, man. That's what it is played today. He led us at his win. All right C bunch of happy guys right there. What was the key to the Cowboys beating Seattle? I gotta say deck to run the ball in the fourth quarter. Because to me that was the issue, and they had that third down and extremely long a lot of bad things can happen. The defense man, you're playing into their hands. It got less space to defend..

"Well, I guess what I'm saying to you is that you're looking at it that way, but I'm looking at it from the standpoint that maybe Doug Peterson simplifies things when Nick foles lineup. Whereas we're Carson Wentz. He's asking costs wins to do entirely too much. So maybe it's about the coach and how he coaches one quarterback compared to the other. When you talk about Nick Carson Wentz, rather when people not you'd say, but when people have talked about Carson Wentz, and they talk about him trying to do too much enroute of completed sixty nine percent of his passes throwing for over three thousand yards throw twenty one touchdowns just seven then exceptions along. Hey where you look at him. What you see is an individual that you might go out there. And you might look at Jeffrey's or you might look at an egg. And you might look at these guys. And you might look at the tight end tight end duo of Goddard and hurts and you look at them and you say, okay, apps and a run a game. We need cost wins to show out. Here's Nick foles things become a bit this. Here's about a one deals. Hey, that would be okay. If Nick foles couldn't play, but Nick foles at Arizona. I was doing radio everyone was talking Andrew luck. And then that Barkley was supposed to be the other guy. Osweiler was really good. I used to think other than luck. Nick foles was the best quarterback in the Pac twelve he's he that guy's really good. He torched USC. Arizona that year. And Nick foles was absolutely excellent. He turns pro season under Kelly twenty seven to his authority. This season underdog to myself on this world. Let's be clear. I've also I didn't give the eagles any chance to win this game. Let's be very very they were gonna win. I didn't think Tony Dungy was only when I think they were gonna win it because I said this defense is going to show up and there's not much he's going to be able to do and to me Chicago's defense. "They have chemistry him and Doug Peterson has some type of Cambridge where he understands how to get the best out of Nick foles the offense. Alsong Jeffrey's only person. That's probably upset is urged are getting that. He was getting on at work when when it was wins. But now everybody's alive. Everybody. You always run the ball shots. And you'll whenever you do that you have an opportunity to get these big explosive plays, you'll the time of possession de control and everything if he's able to put this on a run, and they don't have to go to the Super Bowl you have real legitimate questions about who's the best quarterback for this team going forward. Well when we talk about the quarterback for this team. It reminds me something Chris says all the time players. Says ninety nine percent of guys leaguer system players will it's look the other way around what teams are system fits for certain players better than others. I'm not ready to say that with Philly yet. I'm not I I know that they were on another seemingly magical run. But it's not as if with Carson Wentz. We haven't seen them be great. We saw them be great the best team in football for the first thirteen games of last year. We saw this year while the team as a whole struggled Carson's numbers were actually quite good. He his numbers this year actually comparable to what they were last year pre injury. But as far as the rest of this season, Nick foles, the only quarterback who should play for the Philadelphia Eagles. And that's also four Carson winces benefit. I want to the worst thing that can happen to Carson Wentz is the eagles upset the bears, which is the only way this discussion. Right because we know full playing this week, and then he's healthy. And in the like, hey, Carson, guess what you. Get to play on the road against the number one seed New Orleans Saints and that game the eagles if they are to get past the bears, which is a long shot. No matter who the quarterback is there any normal underdog. They will be a greater than touchdown underdog in New Orleans. No matter who that New Orleans the overwhelming favourite, not only to get to the super but to win it. And it hurts Wentz. If they lose to the if they lose under his watch it falls get stay undefeated in these must win games. What what courts a wins needs to happen to have all of this. Go away is for Nick Boles to lose a playoff game. Like that is because. Yes, of course, well if Carson takes over and they go win a Super Bowl is that the best shore. But this team I don't believe is good enough to win three consecutive road playoff games. No matter who the quarterback is. So the worst thing that could happen to wince and his future in villi is to get put back in that starting line, but of Nick Bose plays well in they lose the courts are still going to be there that maybe you'll because they have to make. Because I believe it's cap is like twenty million dollars to twenty million dollars team option. So they gotta dig on that Nick foles walk away. And if he goes somewhere and thrives and Carson Winston never get them back to the dance. And they're going to say what if because he's a twenty nine year old age with experience in the Super Bowl MVP. Listen, he if they if they if he plays one, they lose let's go with that the heaving Nick foles against against the bears or even against they'll say, they beat the birds even get saints either way, they will let them because they've got no choice like they're not going to pick up a twenty million dollar option there cap strapped as eagles seem does not have a lot of room to maneuver that's without his twenty million dollar option. And then even if there are people on television, even if there are fans did we keep the wrong guy? It's not the same because he's not in the locker room anymore. There's not going to be the question if they struggled start next year. Should you go to foles 'cause he's playing for Jacksonville or Denver going to be playing for? So this will. Fix itself. This will the it will figure itself out the only way it doesn't is figures itself out in a different direction. Which is they beat the bears, and they beat the saints..

"But they are now going up against one of the best. They're going get Chicago. It's going to be we're going to see episode Alex play on both sides of I'm not I'm gonna take Chicago. Here. Attitude because the bears legit. I'm also backing up Nick foles. Like he does he deserves. He deserves. Chris. Now, one of the best at Bates in the NFL will be the choice for offensive rookie of the year. Baker Mayfield led the Browns seven wins. And on Sunday. He set the record for the most TD passes by a rookie quarterback with twenty-seven while in New York saquon Barkley had fifteen total touchdowns as season and on Sunday. He became the third rookie in the NFL in NFL history with at least two thousand total yards, and we are joined once again by Jason McIntyre who still with us. So Jason who deserves to be rookie of the year. I think this one's a layup without question. I think it's got to be my guy Baker Mayfield. I know we've had our issues he had blocked me on social media earlier this year now on blocked because I've said nice things. But I'm saying nice run you want guys Baker Mayfield has been incredible. Now, I don't know how you judge rookie of the year. Is it just the stats? I don't know then it's a toss up. But when you factor in the culture change in Cleveland, they go from how many wins last year? Two seven this year. Just remind me how many wins did the Browns have last year. I've forgotten rub. Just just give me the number ought to have one win Cleveland have one who's that that culture change? Did you sure? When it was under Hugh two years ago. And it was the culture was the same right? No, no, no one wanted to cold grill. When he got rid of you, given Greg Williams all the credit for the bribe is down three hundred Baker Mayfield, Alex. I believe he set the rookie passing touchdown record. It clips Russell Wilson eclipse Peyton Manning. But I don't want to just go big picture. I'll look at a small game like week seventeen. Okay. Baker mayfield's facing the number two defense in the league. Baltimore ravens. Okay. They've given up to three hundred yard passes this year. That's it. Pat, Mahomes who everybody has is the NFL MVP and guess who else. Baker Mayfield not once but twice threw for over three hundred yards against the best second best defense in the league. I know Robby at an interception at the end now on the way winning game was on the line. He's a witty. No, you know, down the road, and it just go. But what I should. I just means he's gonna go saquon Barkley, but listen, I will be Sean. Here. Baker Mayfield hands down should win the NFL rookie of the year would not even a debate. It's say Kwame Barco. You're right. It's not even a debate. You had to qualify. Your stuff with rookie wrote the season record for rookies as far as touchdowns. He's lost. When he's a rookie. I don't have to use that qualifier with saquon Barkley because guess what he is already. One of the best not rookie running backs in the league running backs in the league Todd Gurley Ezekiel Elliott and saquon Barkley he led the NFL in yards from scrimmage, total yards from scrimmage all right over two thousand. He was second in ineffectual in rushing. He averaged five yards per carry. He led the NFL in most Russia's for twenty yards or more. This do Baker Mayfield. We aren't even thinking about in terms of one of the best quarterbacks. We compare him to say qua- artists Sam darnold and the Lamar Jackson and so on and so we're we're not. We're not daring to bring him up with air Rogers and Tom Brady and all and even Patrick Mahomes. We not putting him in that category. Saquon Barkley appro bowler about away is already in that category. And by the way Baker Mayfield. Even even second is Lamar Jackson how about he didn't. He's the rookie quarterback that beat your rookie quarterback there. Six in one..
