Now to 7 news first alert chief meteorologist Veronica Johnson and I have to say when I took a little walk, it was just as you said, there was the heat, but not the humidity, so it was very nice and we hope to keep it going. Yes, and did you catch that braise too? Yes, I did. It was like warm toasty here, just wrapping all around us. I loved it. I went for that walk, too. Tomorrow, there could be a touch of humidity, certainly some higher temperatures coming our way. Listen, we're shooting for 85 to about 88° for tomorrow. So it is going to be on the warmer side for sure, some folks, maybe even saying hot. Then we'll continue to see our temperatures cool down a bit for the weekend, but right to near average. So let's talk about the overnight. We'll have a few scattered clouds around the area, lows will drop down to 58 to 65°, and then a stronger southwest wind tomorrow will allow those temps to rise very quickly. We'll have highs again, 85 to 88 with increasing clouds and there may even be a little shower or thunder shower. Mainly southwest of D.C.'s here, you're talking to culpepper, areas down through Fokker county and even Prince William county for tomorrow late afternoon. More rain expected for Saturday, even some morning fog, then some isolated showers and thunderstorms that will extend into the early evening, but by late evening, again, rain dries up, Mother's Day is looking good this weekend, highs both Saturday and Sunday in the mid 70s. So quite nice. And the rate that we're going to get on Saturday, about a third, about three tenths of an inch of rain, not a ton of rain. And next week right now is looking pretty dry. There are new guidelines out today that lay out some specific recommendations. The guidelines call for parents to routinely check in to make sure social media is not interfering with schoolwork or causing their kids to lose sleep. It is important for parents to establish those boundaries. Tama Bryant is president of the American psychological association which released the guidelines, she says kids should be taught to constantly question the accuracy of what's on their screen. So they can think for themselves so they can also come back to their parents and other trusted adults to verify information. Another recommendation is that kids should be repeatedly informed that their behavior on social media will likely generate data that can be stored and shared for commercial purposes.
