Do Five Year Olds Know Who They Are?

"So let's play the opening of this video. Well, we will, when we can. And I can act it out. You probably could actually. I want people to understand what you were asking people to sign that a 5 year old be allowed to do this against the will of the parents. I'm not talking about putting on a dress, okay? I'm not talking about putting on some makeup. I specifically said you're going to go through hormone therapy and then surgery. And then, you know, when people were signing, I was so incredulous that I even sent a couple of times, did I mention that she's 5 years old? Oh yeah, I don't know. And they would go in and say, oh, she knows who she is. She should have the right to make these kind of choice that age. She has exactly what she's doing at 5 years old. I'm not sure I wasn't throwing my feces around at 5 years old. I think I might have been doing that.

Spencer Levine on Making His First Cut in Nearly Five Years at the Shriners Children's Open

"We can get into a bunch of shit because you're not on social media, but like the people love you. I've told you this before. Especially especially we'll get to the happy Gilmore putting scenario at some point 'cause obviously you came in hot, you said you win your old man's garage and you saw this thing and it was dialed or whatever, but first of all, man. Like the Monday queue or whatever, like I saw that and I texted you once I saw you were in or whatever because I know how that shit can go. You can end up in a playoff out of nowhere, but what were the emotions going through? When was the last tour event you played? What were the emotions going through just getting into the Monday queue? I think last time I was in Vegas, you maybe made it to Vegas that time. A couple of years ago, but how are you feeling? Yeah, that was the last tour event I played due to a couple of years ago in Vegas. So yeah, it was nice, man. I went in there, you know, this Monday with not a whole lot of expectations. I mean, I've been playing well at home, but hadn't been planning a competition, but yeah, I just had a good day, dude. I hit it well, and was able to make a few putts and that course is, you know, one of those courses where, you know, you see the scores are pretty damn low. So if you're driving it good there, just kind of like at the actual tournament course, you're gonna have a lot of scoring opportunities. So I drove it really good in the Monday and then I shot a low score and made some putts and I was waiting around. I was in the morning, so like you said, I kind of figured I'd be in a playoff and then it kind of felt like a bonus not to have to play off, so. Honestly, dude, I just felt I was just happy bro I was just happy to be in a tournament. I had a lot of my buddies came out. My dad came out to watch the tournament, so it was just a fun week, man. It felt like the old days it really did. It was a good time. The whole week. I couldn't ask for much more. It was great.

But the chairman of the committee Democrat Gregory Meeks, of New York, back to Secretary of state and the president, and we not remove American troops from Afghanistan. "You know, I'm a believer in in that in that state model and and what it can bring, But I want to now get to The the elephant in the room, Gary Duck. Five years ago, I would assume it was four or five years ago by now, considering how long I have been here I was once invited. It's a true story guy. So help me God Institute story. I was once invited onto Gary Show inside Indiana Businesses, great studio, and I was there and sat on the on the dais thing, and it was lovely. Had a great time. And I was never invited back. Never once invited back at all. Gary Dick. How much did I scare you being on the show? No, that was not intentional. Yet. Here we are. No, no, no, no, no, that was not intentional. Uh, and, you know, Hey, Covid, You know we went away. I think you were on the insiders if I remember, right? Yeah. Maybe did a great job. You did a great job with it, But we have been, you know, remote on the ends we have. We've kind of had the insiders on a hiatus so I think invitations could be forthcoming. I just want to say for the record, he just blamed it on Covid. I'm not buying. I'm not buying at all, but but I'm will admit I love the deal. I love the thing. Full disclosure. I know Nate Feldman. Um, been very, very kind to me over the years. I like the concept. That you know, Indiana focus. I think that that is valuable and important for all the things that I do in all the places that I do them. I always get a kind note from you when I'm doing Fox or one of the other things. This is where we live and breathe. This is who We are and there's a lot here and it needs to get unpacked, and it needs to be addressed in in ways me. I do it differently than you, but but it's still need. There's a value to these things, Um, in these conversations, so I love what's happening. But I do want to move it over to this Economic Club of Indiana story and the new season that they've got Going on and the size of like when they do an event with the Indiana Economic Club. I mean, it's it's Dave Ricks, the CEO of Eli Lilly, Senator Todd Young, its author and journalist Clarence Page. He's going to be part of the first event. They get a crowd They get, like four or 500. People that show up so the fact that they're back to doing this Live in person with people. This is actually big news. Yeah, it's a good sign. No doubt about it. And you talk about the Economic Club of Indiana. The history the heritage. Great tradition Here in the city of Indianapolis, You mentioned some of the speakers coming in in this upcoming season for the economic club over the years. Just some of the biggest names, uh, you know, in in the nation really coming into Indianapolis and around the globe, so it's a It's a great event. It's gone virtual very much a different scenario or different vibe, if you will when you're going virtual, so the fact that they're coming in person is a good sign for the economic club. And I think you know, potentially for Indianapolis as well. And we have the NFL. Uh, starting off this this weekend, people down at Lucas Oil Stadium people downtown. Is this the beginning. Obviously, with the overlay of the the delta variant what's going on there, But we're going to have people downtown. Tens of thousands of people downtown is at the start of kind of getting downtown energized again. That right? There is Gary Dick from inside indiana business dot com..

Well, the funny part about it was That for him. It was Hugh was this guy who grew up with all the mob guys on the lower East side in the 19 twenties, Right? And he grew up with that group knew them all. And actually, um, had all these stories about the mob to tell, And they were funny stories. But what he found so interesting was that now it was in the in the late eighties, and we were about to go to war in Iraq with Saddam Hussein. And he was saying, I'll tell you, he said. If if the squad we're still in business, there wouldn't have been a war with Saddam Hussein and here's wine. He told me what they would have done so he was really interested in telling this whole story. About a whole group of people. With whom he worked that nobody would ever know about. Right? "Now, here's Mitch. Come back here in 7 60 W there will know the problems that we had recently with flooding. With storms here in the area, particularly in Detroit with homeowners and particularly in basements, So many Valuable items, precious items, family items, things that you can't replace ended up being lost, uh, in in floods that nobody anticipated well. Turns out that actually, some people did anticipate them to independent investigations of the flood. That came five years ago. You remember in 2016 that really messed things up over on the East side of Detroit. Actually suggested ways to deal with future storms, but officials did not implement Those measures, including creating an alert system for vulnerable homeowners that might have stopped what we are dealing with and what they had to deal with this summer. MLL Rick, the Pulitzer Prize winning reporter. And East Sider, who has been calling for Ways to deal with floods in Detroit for for the last five years is on the line with us right now. M l How are you? Mitch. It seems obscene for me to complain about my basement flooding as traumatic as it was when I'm talking to a guy who's helping people in Haiti who are dying because earthquakes and because of an even more incompetent government, so I I hope we can keep Some perspective.

"Um Definitely would recommend a tear off and I definitely you know, would get multiple bids so that you can at least kind of compare them and then ultimately Look for somebody that has the most experience and Maybe can give you here's the thing with roofing contractors. When you're asking for references, and you really should do your due diligence, especially if you're going to spend 40 grand And when they give you a list of Oh, yeah, I did. Mrs. Jones is down the street last week. That's great. I would love to. I'd love to talk to Mrs Jones. But I really want to talk to, uh Uh huh. Somebody else that maybe they did the roof. Five years ago and find out how it's looking. Yeah, And and they've been around this company than, uh, Going to decide about. They've been around for close to 40 years in the grand area, and they're also now in different states. Also I mean, that says something to me, you know, but keep in mind that a lot of times to make sure that if it's a company that's been around for 40 years, it's maybe been in with the same family organization has ever running it because a lot of times these things get bought out. And they may be. They may be playing on that name. Like Oh, we've been around for 40 years, but it's under new ownership. So you just want to Don't care who shingles you use, But you want to make sure that whoever is doing the work knows what the heck they're doing and is going to do a very thorough job for you. And just to keep everybody honest, I would get you know a couple more bids. Just kind of see where the pricing is on all that. Jerry. Thanks so much for the phone call. "Shot Drop. We're doing something of a special edition of CALIF morning news today because it was five years ago today that a gunman opened fire on Dallas police officers. Ending in otherwise peaceful protest demonstration in the downtown streets. Five police officers were killed that night. One of them was Valerie Zamarripa, his son, Patrick. We talked with her earlier this morning and She told us that reliving that night is always hard. Some days. It's harder than others. You know, like today, everybody wants to do an interview and and just having to redo it would go over it and over it. It's been hard. The patchy base. Yeah. I mean, it never gets any easier. It's been five years. Um, What are your thoughts on this day on this anniversary? Well, I wish we weren't here. I really wish that people didn't know who I was or my family. Because in this manner It's really hard because there's so much you know to think about and go through. Even though things have gotten a little easier and a little bit better, so to speak. I'm in a better place. Um, you know, in dealing with it, but it's still very, very hard, very, very hard Speaking speaking as a parent, and Amy and I both have adult Children. And it's hard to you know, if you if you don't have kids, or even if you just have a young kids, I think it's hard for people to understand how parents of adult Children those those kids never grow up in your heart. You know, my son is 44, but he's also still just five. And he's exactly he's 12, you know, and and I can't imagine how you get past something like that. You know, you're not supposed to bury your Children, right? Very you And especially the way it happened. It was, you know, unnecessary for the way it happened, and, uh You know, but I know God is great. God has my back. And God has me standing still. And with all the love and support and prayers that I get from all over the country, and everywhere I go You'll meet people to this day that You know, heard about what happened and tell me they prayed for me and my family and are still praying I and I thank them because that's what kept me going. All the prayers from everywhere. Like you said, Um, Today you'll be bombarded with all kinds of interview requests and things like that. And then it all goes away. And then it comes back. Maybe, you know, a year from now or, you know, five years from now, But you've you've done so much to try to keep your son's memory alive. How have you done that? Um, well, I started. I'm involved in couple organizations first off help with the American region because he was a veteran of the Navy and my daughter, also as a Navy reserve right now. And then I am vice president and our cops. Survivor organization that has helped me has saved me. You know, basically the great organization. Unfortunately for our survivors But I also had started a scholarship in his honor that I'm trying to get going and get situated on although you know, necessary paperwork and do all what we've got to do. So for that that gives me solace in my heart. And you know, it keeps me busy keeps me from sitting in bed curled up in a ball. Crying and because I don't wanna cry like I used to cry. Don't cry as much. But I still cry here and there. I think that is, uh That is so insightful and inspirational to explain how you you get past it by rising up above it and doing something to help people. Other people in similar situations. Tell us a little bit about Patrick about who he was as a person a little bit about his life and his career. Patrick wanted to be a police officer ever since he was a little boy. We had a neighbor. My country's who was a Fort Worth PD officer, and Patrick used to see him come home in his uniform and the squad car, and Patrick would always say And that's what I'm going to do, Mom and okay, well, dude, maybe reach for the stars or something. I've always told my Children And then, when Patrick graduated from high school, his sister said, First, you're going to the Navy because she was already in the Navy and He left right away after graduation. And he was so proud to be serving in there. And even though he did a couple of tours, a few tours over there now Iraq and all over that side of the world He came home safe, and he did do some police work in there's an MP And then he decided to come home and be unreserved, and that's when he went to apply for police. He didn't apply for work because, he said, We have too much family and we know too many people and I don't want to arrest any of my friends or family. Mm hmm. "Dr Del Carmen, What are you hearing from departments here in North Texas about the need for police officers and about what they should expect. Well, you know, Part of the problem is is that we're losing people with a great deal of experience in seniority. It's not just that we're losing officers is that we're losing officers with a great deal of experience. And what that means is that You have to ask the question as we hire young millennials to come into the ranks of law enforcement who is going to mentor these folks, right? Who is going to train them? On the job or in the field. And so what? We hear what we hear here in Texas, and it's no exception to the rest of the United States is that that they're burned out that they feel under appreciated that they're tired of dealing with the scrutiny and some of the Oversight that in some cases, it's necessary, but he know their cases is not. And so what's happened is is that many of them are saying You know what I've got, you know, six months to go until I'm eligible to retire. I'm going to finish my six months and then I'm going to walk away from the job. And so what? And in some other cases where you see these protests Exits, You know that we saw in Portland and buffalo. What you find is that police officers find that the baroness in a situation where if they are, in fact, um, you know question as to the use of force that they used in what they perceived to be a reasonable circumstances. They may end up losing not only their reputation but their freedom and and all their savings right and all the money that they have saved up or worked really hard to worship the past 20 plus years so so many of them are meant making that mental equation. Saying, You know what? I'd better walk away now and get a little bit of attention versus sacrificing. You know everything that I've saved my freedom, my stability, My my, my family. For the sake of doing my job in that split second decision where, in fact what I do, which I think it's reasonable may actually be viewed by someone on the Internet. Has no law enforcement experience and no understanding of the complexities of the job as being unreasonable. In the aftermath of the horrific ambush that took place five years ago this July 7th in downtown Dallas. I know chief Brown said that police officers were being asked to do things that weren't part of their original job descriptions. Soon they were being asked to be Um, you know, after school care for kids in a lot of respect, a lot of social work taking care of the homeless population. Are we changing the job of police these days? Yeah, There's no question, right. So if you look back at the history of law enforcement, I mean, even when Sir Robert Peel, Uh, you know, was part of the Constabulary Act back in England. Today, where law enforcement you know, was actually created in modern times. One of the things that we see is that law enforcement was exactly that to enforce the laws and he was there to people order. He was there to keep sort of the balance in our society and and and that job has evolved in some cases. Has evolved to include and meet some of the needs in society over the past 100 years that would say in the United States, but more recently, you know, it is continued to evolve. You know people are some people are instinctive. Calling 911 for any issues that come up. I remember when 9 11 took place, you know, almost 20 years ago, now hard to believe, but I remember after soon after 9 11 people were calling 911 because They thought they were putting anthrax on airplanes and dropping it off in various places here in the Metroplex and what we found out it was that that you know people were calling because they have seen, uh, spiderweb, you know, somewhere and they thought that somehow that was anthrax, And so here you have. Law enforcement, you know, taking their time to go address that need from the community. Imagine the thousands of dollars that are being spent on the officer's salary. The maintenance of the equipment. The vehicle, the gas and more than anything tying up the 9 11 lines for for things that you know didn't really matter in the big picture. But versus those those items were law enforcement. Absolutely. Had to respond to. So I would say yes. I mean, we're asking cops to be social workers to be psychologists to be pet owners to be advisers to be counselors and then to enforce the law from time to time. I think you'll appreciate this. My mom used to always say whenever I would like, be whining about something Necesita ready to party like whatever your problem is. You need to do your part to help solve it. You know, especially if you're praying to God, you need to do your part as well. You can't just depend on the prayer. Even though it's important. What would you like to see neighborhoods due to help fight crime in their area to help police do their job. In other words, Benard Supertec. You know, I think that that, um you know, crime is an incredibly complex subject for most people to really fully understand in the sense that that it is only counted in certain instances. So you know the reason why we're moving from the UCR. Neighbors, which is a far better system that the FBI has required law enforcement to report through. But at the end of the day, crime doesn't go away unless the community is involved. Law enforcement can only do so much. Most of what you see around the Metroplex and the rest of the nation is law enforcement. They'll saturate. We call it saturation. They'll send police units to a certain corner. They'll respond quicker in certain cases. Just to be able to let the Let the bad guys know that you know the crime will not be tolerated. Those are what we call suppression strategies. They will suppress the the crime up to a certain level, but at some point law enforcement has to pull out of those areas. In order to address the the other issues that are facing the cities and so they don't have the capacity. They don't have the manpower. They don't have the resources to stay there constantly, and so it really does take the community. It takes the community to engage in dialogue with law enforcement to provide law enforcement with good intelligence to also prevent the opportunity, uh, for.

"Oh, a number of years ago. Okay. So a number of years, like, five years ago, 10 years ago. Did she have a baby? Did she have to have surgery Is something Was there Some event in your life? Did she get a divorce? Anything else you could impart here. Yeah, She had a lot of problems with her previous husband Never had any Children. Um, no surgery knocked on wood. Mm hmm. So the stress that she had to endure for her divorce going through dissolution of our marriage on a level of 1 to 10, you being the mother and being involved in it, probably from the very beginning. How would you grade her stress that she had to endure during that divorce process on a 1 to 10 scale 10 being the very worst I imagine it would be a 10. Okay, well, that's all I need to know because look, she's already tried some really good things with the fiber approach. And I'm I'm just assuming here that she drinks plenty of water. She understands that activity is quintessential, which means people are more constipated when they're sedentary, as opposed to when they're in motion. S o. She's done the fiber. She's drinking water. She's staying in motion. And that leads me to the fact that stress is a major contributor that most people don't realize. And how stress hits a person like this. Is it damages their adrenal glands, their liver and other parts of the body that need proper assessment and recovery. Now to know this. You have to get more information, and I'm not ruling out counseling for her divorce that maybe she's never gotten over. She's never resolved those unanswered issues that she went through and had to endure during the dissolution of her marriage, so counseling might be approach here. I know that everybody wants to take a pill potion or powder to solve everything. But it's not always sold because remember the triumph of health. You have to look at the health picture. The overall pictures. It's like there is emotional and mental stress that can impart To the body and interfere with movement of balls and movement of your stomach and everything else, so there's emotional, psychological stress. There's physical stress. And there's chemical stress those of the big ones, and if you condoled through and kind of memorialized, where are your stresses and how to address those, You'll get better results because she's already tried sort of a chemical approach by getting more fiber. And if it's marginal, that means she's got problems beyond lack of fiber, and I assume lack of moisture and I assume lack of movement. So Maybe this is a psychological and emotional problem that was generating it, because if it wasn't there before her divorce, I have to go back and say, Well, why is it that she's constipated when she goes through the stress of his divorce, and she wasn't beforehand? Is there truly some type of psychological problem for which pound sling? For that might be of some benefit or biofeedback or hypnosis. I don't care what it is just so that we can unload whatever tape she's playing every day that's tightening up her gastrointestinal area and precluding her from having Two or three ball movement today, which is what is considered to be optimal in persons who are healthy. Now I'm not ruling out also the fact that her adrenal glands aren't working well, because the adrenal glands help us with our Paris dulces, which is the activity of the musculature off the ball that pushes the waste products out of our body so she should be assessed. For adrenal gland exhaustion, a dream of land exhaustion along with some psychological maybe some counseling care. Might be of some benefit. I would even consider acupuncture because acupuncture she hasn't tried. It is also good for re balancing the body's energetic pathways to free up those zones that have been Injured from something, whether that be psychological, emotional or mental, physical or chemical, so those of the considerations.

"Does a drug become generic Because the pharmaceutical company has made as much profit as it thinks it's going to make and it just releases it to the wild. Why do you pay more? For proprietary drugs. Well, a lot of times. There's two reasons for that. So let's start with the first one, which is one of the drug become generic. Typically, it becomes generic when other we'll call it not capitalize. Pharmaceutical companies can get the ingredients. Recipe, so to speak. So when a drug has brought the markets filed for patents in typical patents on a drug it's about 20 years now that 20 years is inclusive of investigating the research and development timeline, which could be a bunch of 12 years. By the time a drug gets the market a typical we'll call it Fizer or Big Pharma companies invested on average about $2 billion on 12 years of time. And so the higher price of the front end is in large part to try to recoup the cost invested by the time it gets too generic when that patent runs out, assuming it doesn't get a patent extension, and this is the new trick of the game, the pharmaceutical companies will tweak the ingredients just enough in the 11th hour right before the patent gets expired and get an extension. Something I write about in chapter 10 of my book, the Cure like, Hey, we gotta get our hands around this, but this is you know when that happens when it finally does, And that's when other companies can get in to the business and you got mass production. That's also Kim. By the way, when we see a lot of these drug companies give a one final price fit a price increase before goes generic so they can get it much profit out of it in the last minute before goes to America. Cutting edge, though pharmaceuticals, which it zone much different Now, if you had, for example, breast cancer, and it was in an advanced stage, even Five years ago that these drugs that are out now that it may extend life. It's not certainly not going to cure you, but it may extend life they weren't available five years ago. Now they're out there, and they're enormous in terms of their price. Same would think of medication for people that have heart ailments. There was an enormous price. So what's happening here is unless you have An insurance company that you can afford and they can play the game with the pharmaceutical company. So a lot of these a lot of these cutting edge treatments that are out there right now. People can't afford their health care insurance doesn't exist anymore or it's been severely curtailed. So how did how did we rectify that with where we are medically in this country? Well, there's a lot of things that have to happen in sync. And this is the challenge. It was really the inspiration behind my writing the book to say, Hey, hear all the things that can happen and think that have to happen. You mentioned health insurers. You're right. 20 years ago, there were Dozens upon dozens of health insurance company Now in any given market. There's three or four and here's the reality. I mentioned a moment ago pharmacy benefit managers or PBM, four of them control 80% of the drug distribution. All four are either owned or own. Major insurance company and so this collusion if we want to use that word, which is a popular word of the day, right? That's going on needs to be broken up because until it does These drugs that are life saving drugs, and we want them. It's fantastic and see the advancement of medicine that we have that we are prolonging and saving lives with medicine. But we have to get the crony capitalism out of it. And all of this intertwined system out we need. This is where the government could step in and start breaking this up and start saying No, no, no. These companies you stand on their own. Transparent about their actions, and that, in turn will allow the costs go down. We're just we're impacting too many shareholder values to to do that, and until we can get to the place, we can break it all up. Unfortunately, it won't change don't want And I think anybody that's intrigued by Medicare for all or think it's a good idea should go on Medicare and see exactly what that looks like where you have to play so many games. You think they think? Oh, I get Medicare. I'm 65 years old and you get a little card from the government. Is it OK? I'm in great shape. Well, no, you're not. You don't have party. You don't have a pharmaceutical coverage. There will be gap insurance you'll have to buy or you can't afford medical coverage. And then when you do get into the pharmaceutical plant Then you're talking about not just different tears or proprietary drugs. It's when do I get them? How many refills do I need one Do I get to a certain point of the year where I'm in this quote unquote doughnut, and I'm not covered it all it Zalando Britt. I think the government has delivered us. This. This this this nonsense that's called Medicare. And yet we have people running around the country in elected office is saying, Hey, Medicare, for all is going to be great. No, it's not. When you really break down the propose of Medicare, for all its not Medicare at all. It's even a watered down version of what you've just described. But for those that are that do like their Medicare program likely that they don't like the Medicare part. They want the private insurance part, the part that they've had to invest in to get what they ultimately want out of it. We need to come together and realize that we need a free market system. We need information to be free. We need to break down the barriers that are owned by the insurance company..
