Is that true or false true. I'll say true. Mace one hundred percent. True all false. That was russell wilson and nobody on the board yet. All right number. Two stafford is one of only eight quarterbacks. Nfl history to throw for more than five thousand yards in a season. And he's the only one of the eight to do it more than once. New Orleans Saints agree to terms with QB Winston on one-year contract

"Yahoo Sports is Charles. Charles Robinson reports at Norrland's is finalizing a one year deal with Winston. The former buck coming off a five thousand one hundred nine yards season thirty plus touchdowns three interceptions and immediately eyebrows. Raised the idea that Winston would stay in the division. Go to the Saints. Backup drew brees. He enters the mix with Tatum Hill. Who IS SUPPOSED TO BE? And maybe still is the heir apparent To breeze so it just leads to a lot of unsolved mysteries in its own right greg your thoughts when you heard the news that Winston may be and quite possibly is headed to the saints I I wasn't shocked because I I what I did. This hashtag setup into your own comet with a big way. Why why you made your Greg sounding you often. I got it. I wasn't gonNA say anything but then mark reacted to it and I can't help myself but go ahead. I did this Saints Twitter Pot. Podcast just knew that way wolf as podcasts. Him into my buddy Adam and they were saying they were hearing. This was going to happen before the draft so they got sources on the inside and and they ended up being proven right and it makes all the sense in the world of your Jameis Winston and makes sense of. You're the saints too. I think you get a chance to get Jameis. Winston in the building for a year probably drew brees his last year. We haven't heard any financial terms the Jameis Winston deal you know was reported on before the Taste Hill extension Came out and the money that was involved. That extension came out. Part of me does wonder. Is this deal for absolute sure does did Winston know about that before he he came determines but either way he? He should do the deal. Because if he can somehow impress Sean Payton or if he can end up getting in the lineup and being as backup like Teddy Bridgewater What better place to possibly learn because damis Winstons still has a lot to learn but he also has a lot of talent a guy that throws for five thousand yards can do things in the NFL and like there's no better place to learn. Other than to undo. Breezy and Sean Payton.

"S and then we'll see what for Andrew have gone on. Because last Schober free hits. Analysts work with the Phillies. Real quick. We had talked about Stephen eight earlier saying that said on TV that going Haskins the Ohio State quarterback is more of a runner than throw. Or even though he threw for almost five thousand yards which was a big ten record in fifty touchdowns this year, which was a big ten record wall. Running for barely one hundred yards at one point four per clip. So he's not a runner at all. Those are pretty good numbers over rudder. You gotta admit fifty touchdowns and five thousand yards or whatever it was. Now that's throwing now my bet. Sorry. So leading I saw that they were up to a twenty eight twelve lead. I know they're whether it's down to five now FitzGerald is a genius genius. He said it was gonna be title, whereas one thirty one four so anyway, he until everyone's crushing him Dwayne Haskins was laughing guys were laughing all this kind of stuff clearly inaccurate among the many things that he said about football. So then he starts getting crushed on Twitter and tries to defend himself. And here's what he says. Why because I believe what I believe I know Haskins is a baller that he threw for fifty TD's last year. Yeah. You look that up. My view is athletics. As more of a plus scrambling outside the pocket. I don't view him as an ideal pocket passer, nor the runner the Cuyler is period. Then he continues on Haskins is big time. I know this. And I'm not saying he can't pass view him the way I view him. Just an eye test thing, I'm not talking statistically make of it. What you will is the eye test that he's is that the eye test. What does he? I mean what? Saying he's gotta be test that he's black and a black quarterback should run. Is that what you're is? That what you're I test is because he doesn't run he throws Stephen as black. Can you your black stereotype another black quarterback against you? Can clearly is that's what he's saying. It's the best. What because he's clearly has which means I don't watch crap. I don't watch crap. Joe, and he's trying to defend it based on his I test. What I tasked, dude? If you watch the game on your eye test other than him standing on the sidelines. Look demands clearly black. So that means he clearly runs morning throws. And he wears number seven. Vic? Works in the NFL. Yeah. He does run. It all though is is Drew Bledsoe. By the way. I've heard on his Drew Bledsoe. He wasn't a runner. But I'll go double check that. Bledsoe's a statue. We used to call them the statue. Because he couldn't move in the pocket, man. What's next is? He gonna tell us greatest scrambler Byron left, which is they were there leverage guy. Boy, Vicky throw he'd be good. But he could run you. Then we'll we're on boy crazy over there Marshall. Look at him. Go. Anytime you take him seriously this at your own peril is this guy's a messy. Once you see man, screw up in our business. It's kind of like how Steph takes like he slipped on the floor that one time when he started Duncairn just laugh about it. Don't be Bradley Beal butthurt yesterday because he got picked last in the all-star draft that no one cares about. And then once you act like you care about it. Then people jump on you about it. Like, look, you screwed up screaming, you don't know football. Everyone knows that. And if you don't know football have somebody help you have somebody help you. I swear it's getting more of a runner to me on the eye test. Whether you talk Syria me, I know what it means. But why he ran for like one hundred forty at one four pretty run for one. Oh, four in one. He watched that one game. What? Oh, four for him like seven yards a game. He's getting sacked eight years again eight yards a game is what it is. Approximately eight yards a game. A Dan Marino. Werner than he is set. The big ten record for passing yards and touchdowns. He's over dude. You you could not have taken a quarterback. In fact, I think I saw mcshea or one of the or one of the draft guys go you couldn't read a worse projection of our scouting report of a quarterback in this guy. Let's see let me look at his rushing numbers here. It is dumb. Rushing rushing here. Here we go game by game against Washington. He blew up though, I will say did six carries minus fourteen yards. Remember this meet running that's minus two point three per carry. Northwestern in the big ten championship game ten for minus five. Oh, Michigan seven for thirty four. Michigan state three for minus eleven you get the idea. We get the idea not a runner. Thank even though you're test tells you otherwise. Yeah. He's trying to. All righty. All right. Let's see what Drouin have coming up next only here on these sports center. From the Chilton auto body traffic desk. Well,.

"And all I wanna have. He was Pete. Here's the deal. Patrick. Homes super fifty touchdowns this year five thousand yards second person ever in the history. Book NFL football do something like that. And the thing is and here's my question for UP isn't the overtime rules. Patrick Mahomes did his job he led his own. He got his tied up butter. Got that feelable gotta done. But you know, the overtime rules aren't there. They're not just especially in the playoff. He never got a chance. He didn't touch the ball. And I wanna take my phone here. And see what you think about it. Should they change overtime? We'll especially in the playoff Showtime. Go chiefs. I'm out. Here's a feel about it. Andy Riedel say this a little bit too. You know, going into the playoffs at single limitation, and you know, going into overtime. You gotta need a defensive stop those the rules. Everyone knows the rules that being said. Admitting that and I don't think you could you could say oh, the chief lost because the overtime rules are the way. Our everyone knows the rules that being said there is a case to be made not just for the chiefs for the game of football where everybody should touch the ball at an I don't know if it's something you want to change for the postseason. I can understand where you know, you if you're on the other side of it say the chiefs score touchdown, again, you'd be I'm sure you'd be fine with that. But the same time is it really fair. You know, if it was the other way around for Tom Brady and never touch the football get an even number of of of done. Nobody's winding. Mike timeline on Twitter isn't full of chiefs fans, saying the overtime rules need to change if that quarter rotates one more time, and it winds up in favor of Kansas City. And they go down and score a touchdown of a homes hits Kelsey or or whatever. And nobody we don't get a single call about that. We really got to look at those overtime rules your play defense. Get a stop stop. What are those third hand? And of course, of course. And I I I completely agree. All I'm saying is when it is the college game, you do feel like a little bit more sometimes in this can scenario that you've you have a true winner. Just because college overtime rules do give even possessions when it's tied. I I actually liked the NFL rules the way they are. I think they're fine. I'm the NFL overtime is fine. I think there's a case to be made. Because again, you have you have sixteen games in the regular season. I again, I'm not blaming the loss on the overtime rules tonight. There's a case to be made that you change it for the postseason. So that each team touches the ball. I that that is something that probably should be discussed again. Everyone knows rules. I'm not blaming it. I'm just saying there's a case to be made. Let's go to Kyle in lenexa it Kyle. Kyle. Kyle going once going twice. Thanks, terry. You're on sixteen sports radio..

"Here's your guy. My homeboy. We'll talk about a forty one year old. I gun you. Yeah. Go here that all week. All right. But a quarterback can't get over motivated right want that kid to come out. That's the one position where motivation doesn't really all. But home you. So you like, Tom he psycho. Remember he comes down, and he goes go. But he, but he doesn't saying this is the first year starter you might get a little too gunned up with the math time I in order through fifty touchdown the five thousand yards he different. Well, I'm getting remind everybody Tom Brady head to head with that kid threw for one hundred eighty two in the fourth quarter with no hell to overcome guess what he overcame Bill defense in the second half at home gave up thirty one to that kid thirty one points in the second half, but who won forty three to forty Brady. No help. So I'm thinking, Tom Brady's your school. What has helped with? Allman is hit with James Michelle's back Brady, probably score seventy nor should probably be seventy two fourteen. That's what I'm thinking. Yeah. So let's see does. Brady have Travis kills. No. He didn't have that. Does he have Tyree joint way? Let me ask. Let me ask. No. Tyreek is there. Tyreek on New England. Is there? A Sammy Watkins Sammy Watkins was really good. You know, what I noticed? I never heard. I never heard when gronk was running rampant. I never heard to say air. Rogers have rob gronkowski. Will he does air Rogers have Randy moss? I never heard skip say that now he had Greg Jennings. Mike, stop it's give stop Greg is unbelievable unbelievable career, but he had an unbelievable year that but Randy malls. But I never heard you say, I never heard us lane. Man. I sure wish I wish Rogers had a wrong. What about right now? Does he does Tom Brady have any of those weapons that kid for the last the last six years any elastic you rob gronkowski double digits down talking about now? He's flawed no web now. Well weapons so homo talking about now just talk about so one guy has fifteen catches. The other guy has nine for book. Hold on, Jillian. It has the second most receptions in playoff history. But he's nobody. Yeah. But how do you do that you do that? Because your quarterback loves you. And you get to play in a whole lot of playoff games if you're riding with number twelve he's not Brian one when the late a lot of playoff game. Tom Brady, and they're not second in the NFL Yoon Ripley off catching, well, that's his favorite target obvious. Oh, so in other words, the guy can play what do you think Julian element to run the forty and I don't know anything. I don't know. They're the lot of live one. I don't know. Maybe only this one. I ran for eight you did you. I didn't the Cowboys told me that John wooden. Did he timed it? And he said you here we're off. He was offi watch too slow watch array of four six seven four six five the combat around world. Okay. That's good. You're in the hall of fame. Yeah. You gotta have something going on. Oh, absolutely. Talk your way out now. Doc about the Cowboys. Well, they lost to the ram Saturday night failed to advance to the NFC championship game on the positive side deck threw a touchdown pass in rushed for another. But the Cowboys were only one for ten on third down after the game. Dak said, quote, we weren't able to execute and it hurt so, Shannon. How would you gray Dax performance from the week? I gave him a C minus because I thought it was very average a slightly below average..

"With wildcard game Saturday Sunday. And in the national football championship on Monday night, which I have not been this excited about a national championship game and longtime. I think the two best teams clearly all season long in a matchup. Tons of NFL talent, great coaches on both sides. That has the makings may classic. I think that's the that's the the argument you make for anybody. Who says well, we need eight teams in it. Sure. Would be more exciting. I guess everybody loves playoff football of any fashion high school college NFL. However, you want to if you want to split it. But I think what they've done right here with the CFP is for the last four years. I think we've ended up and even going back to the very first CFP. I remember everybody was up in arms about Ohio State getting in then they go and they run the table, and they win the whole thing. I think they've got it. Right. Where each year we're seeing the two best teams in the country face off for the national championship three. And we mentioned this yesterday. I think the eight teams would be a little more fair. Because UCF runs the table two years in a row and still cannot compete for that championship. But that's the only argument. I think you're right. We have ended up with the two best teams would that still happen in eighteen playoff? I like to think. So I if it was an eighteen playoff. I still think we would have Clemson in Alabama this year. It would just be a little more fair. Right. It's it's how you see them probably. And then I think the teams that are sitting on the outside looking in the teams like Georgia who came out and didn't get a win against taxes or the teams like Michigan felt like they should have got a shot at this. But ultimately, I think you're right. I think we've got the two best teams, and we do have a great show lined up for you today. Wata guests coming up. We'll be with you till noon today from the San Jose convention center. Nine thirty good friend of yours. Former Stanford tight end and NFL tight end. Evan Moore is gonna join us. He's actually out in Chicago. Getting ready for the eagles in the bears again this afternoon. He does a great job on the Pac twelve network covering college football. Also, he has a family ties sister is married to Nick foles quarterback for the eagles again in Chicago as a family and. So he will have a good time. We'll try to get him before he starts a tailgate tries to stay warm should be a cold one in Chicago too. Great matchups in the NFL playoffs today that we'll get into as well should be a great two days of sports right out of this guests, we'll get into some of the NFL games from yesterday because there's two playoff games. I mean, a lot of storylines throughout both. Of course, the Andrew luck. You guys spent a lotta time talking about him yesterday, the Titus Stanford, of course, but then at nine fifty five we'll talk to you another guy Yogi Roth a breakdown some of the the stuff going on in college football for us. Ten thirtyish. We're gonna talk to Dan Rubenstein. He does a great college football podcast called the solid. Verbal. So we'll talk to him about that. And then at eleven AM former NFL running back Ricky Watters going to join us here and then Vince young at eleven thirty. So a fun packed show for you today here live from the San Jose convention center. Can't be are striving to the college football championship to the games from yesterday to the NFL games. We'll start with early one the colts in the Texans. The colts came into this game. I think everybody who who looks at the colts just views Andrew luck as the the one. Reason maybe that they had success this year and doesn't pay much attention to the fact that they've got a top ten defense. They've got a top ten ofensive line. Probably the best offensive line in football. You could make the case for right now with how well they protected Andrew luck. Yesterday, also helped Marlin max a colts franchise record for rushing yards in a playoff game. Just as far as let's start with the offensive line. And how successful they were came out on fire yesterday didn't need to throw a ball whole lot in the second half, it kinda nurse. That's one point. We'd put up but what did you from yesterday? Well, he had protection which you talked about the way they've built that team. I think that was watching Andrew luck. Watching mitt Stanford. I really thought he had a chance he is built to have one of the greatest NFL careers. I think he's one of the greatest football players. I've ever seen. We forgot that. Because of the injury we for the Peyton Manning thing they thought well, he wasn't going to be able to hold the football. After the next surgery came back and won a Super Bowl. Andrew lucked. Same sort of thing. And they did such a poor job building around him. Lack of offensive firepower lack of running back really the big thing was the lack of offense. O'brien live got some. They drafted very, well, they got brain Smith that of Auburn. But the big guy Quinton Nelson up front is an absolute animal. It's a pretty unique position guard. You think maybe doesn't have the biggest impact its interior line? He is a flat out dominator. I think what he brings that toughness that attitude that changes everything, and he's mauling Jude avian cloudy, one on one matchup breeze, picking them up and stapling the ground. Early in the game. He had protection he made that throw deep down the middle. Hilton post route and put it right on the money in between three defenders over linebacker in between both safety's not many quarterbacks in the history of college football can make that throw. I mean, there's a handful Aaron Rodgers and drew Brees and those guys. Put it right on the money. They go in they score the opening touchdown. They force a three and out. They go down and score. Again. That was the start. They needed to your point. They crew sort of the rest of the way, but the defense held a very good Houston. Texans. Offense, just seven points. They really shut down to Shawn Watson you made the comment earlier. The Shawn Watson as a starter had never been shut out in his entire football career in the first half. And he goes in twenty one nothing at halftime yesterday. And really what they did was they made the Texans one dimensional took the take the runaway only eighteen yards from Lamar Miller. Alfred blue couldn't get going going yesterday DeShaun Watson, the only guy really could do anything offensively and even his numbers sort of inflated in trying to make the comeback there at the end. I don't think he played as well as they needed him to know. And they confused him a little bit on the opposite side. What would Frank Reich has done with that offense? The poor start. They were throwing the ball a little too much. They got diverse just the play calling where they're tacking the flat. He gets the ball out of his hands quickly. Then they go over the middle. Then they take a shot deep really keeping that Texans defense off. Balance and the run game mixing it in. We're mccafe nearly one hundred fifty yards rushing mean that isn't that is an offense that should scare defenses. And they're gonna play a chiefs team that has been susceptible to giving up some big points. That's going to be a heck of a match up next week. I mean Mahomes. I don't know if I've ever had as much fun watching a quarterback throughout the season. You knew he was talented. But to see him have that good fifty touchdowns five thousand yards passing in his first year as a starter in the way, he does it is unique unique talent. And I think watching hearing players from around the league recognizing that you hear opponents saying, well, I want to go back and watch what you said it throughout the entire season with you. And I were kind of joking before the show talking about the today's game through chargers in the ravens getting it going here this morning about ten o'clock, and we were talking about how just a few weeks ago. Philip rivers was an MVP candidate. Now, people are kind of writing them off against the ravens to that same point about Patrick Mahomes. Like there wasn't much of a fall off for him at all even after losing his starting running back. The defence for them has not been fantastic at all this year. They give up tone appoints. He's got to stay composed. And he's able to come out and put up points week after week and the way he he is visually stunning by the way where he moves. We throws the ball around defenders that he can can tort his body in ways while he he keeps his upper body straight to to lock. On a throw impress in Philip rivers, very very effective in his own way. I mean, he has had an NFL career NFL hall of fame career top ten in yards and touchdowns in NFL history. He needs a playoff run needs. Like, he does not have a defining moment in his career where he's had a a signature play or a playoff run. He needs that. I think to really be considered by many around the league as a top ten quarterback of all time the numbers prove it. But it's interesting the dynamic between rivers who can be a fake and throw for three hundred yards and three touchdowns and Mahomes who can do the same thing. You're gonna watch Mahomes. That guy's incredible. We're Philip rivers is pretty good. Yeah. That's it's almost like we've become accustomed to seeing it, and we were discussing this before the show that rivers is going to constantly be compared to the rest of that. Oh, four draft class as far as quarterbacks go, which is Big Ben who's got multiple Super Bowl appearances and wins. And then, of course, manning who's got two big ones. I don't know much about Philip rivers. He was he was sort of gets lost in the media sort of fifty in camps. Nine kids talk about it yesterday. I would love I would that would be appointment television to see a reality show how he's able to balance a starting NFL court hall of fame quarterback with nine kids at home. It's like, Jon and Kate plus eight NFL that's how it would. You cannot get to know your kids well enough when you have nine I don't really know personally, her personality. He's got kids now who like by the time, they're old enough to even know that he played football. We'll we'll have never seen him play. He might play with them. Yeah. That'd be it'd be the LeBron James type things, but that will be a great match up in the Lamar Jackson on the other side. It's he's the youngest quarterback to ever start an NFL playoff game in Philip rivers on the other side at thirty seven years old. It'll be a great contrast because Lamar Jackson took over there on a hot streak a different offense in which you'll flacco. He's only thrown for two hundred yards. One time. It was against the chargers against the chargers teen. Yeah. But they're run game has been a difference averaging about two hundred fifty yards on the ground since he took over and the defense. They shut down the chargers that that was Philip rivers three interceptions. They did not crack two hundred yards of total offense. So it'll be interesting to see how they come back the tape. They break down. How can they be more effective? You know, they have some tricks up their sleeve Philip rivers is I would imagine they're going to get over two hundred yards of offense today that that'll be a fascinating as well. And would you say I mean, like how tough is it for in the NFL? We see it in basketball. You see it all the time teams in the same conference. Or we saw it even back in two thousand seven when the the patriots were able to give the giants problems late in the season you had to play in the Super Bowl and the schematics a different plane within a month. So they will have played the chargers in the ravens in week sixteen ravens handed him a twenty two twenty ten loss something like that. And then they'll play today. So this is gonna be a tough one for the for the ravens actually to get one over on the chargers again. Yeah. And can the ravens come up with a similar defensive scheme at you're not gonna fool Philip rivers swipe. So can they play tough enough and stop the run that was the other thing they did against a really shut down the run game. But charges a little more healthy than they were in week sixteen and I'm just looking for I really want. I'm a Philip rivers fan. I think he's the what he's done in the longevity. And again you watch him play. It's like how is he effective at times? He has that funky motion. He almost Huma shot puts the ball. He does what he throws right? But he a month ago. He was I think a legitimate MVP candidate for league. I'd like to see him have a successful run here in the playoffs. There are some really good NFL teams. We talked about the college football championship where it's clearly there's two great teams. And they they will match up. I think there's five or six great teams. I think there's a couple other teams that have a chance to make a run in the saints. Are the Rams are although grams faltered late late in the season. I think they're a really really good team. Compelling in the AFC chargers and chiefs patriots. Vulnerable vulnerable. But patriots in December and January here, they see the thing. I was thinking about in the NBA. It seems like like when you get to the beginning of a season, you can almost tell which teams every year going to compete in the conference final right in the in the NFL, generally, you know, Patrick probably going to be there. If you look at that AFC east look at some teams across lead, you know, which teams are going to be on the verge of getting into the postseason or maybe even compete for a title teams like the colts though, right now because of their offense and their defense, and they're not a one dimensional team..

"You heard that Pablo homes five thousand yards fifty touchdown passes in his first year as a full time starter, the MVP will probably be his to take home. I will say though, drew Brees gonna put up an interesting fight. Here's the way, I look at this. Every piece of it was interesting. It's clearly a quarterback award. Right. I mean, you could make an argument the air, Donald for example, who almost broke the sack record playing at defensive tackle. It was two away from the sack record from time. Straight ahead could could possibly be able to to get this award. But it is a quarterback award an award for lifetime achievement award is an award for for every year. I think this is interesting cases season because I think Mahomes should get it by do think. Drew Brees will get I'll tell you why he completed seventy four point four percent of passes this year, seventy four point four percent passed. That's absolutely ridiculous. And I was obviously in only fifteen games not sixteen. He leaves leaking in his rating of his career highs QBR of his career thirty two touchdowns five interceptions. The people of this award tend to be skewed a little older. I feel like they're going to give it to breathe is like a lifetime achievement. What he has not one every people. For it. Feels like they're going to say themselves. You know, what Mahomes will have a chance to win. It will give the debris. I don't think. It's the right way to do it. But Jordan, I kind of feel like that's the way it's going to go down. But that's that's not how it should go, which is unfortunate. And look I always when asked about the MVP in any sport. I say take him off this team. What would this team be in this particular circumstance? You can't discern who goes to because let me tell you removed drew Brees from that New Orleans team. Well, they're a completely different team. We saw. The one that's definitely not any kind of threat in Saint goes for Kansas City. So you have to look at productivity in the more productive. Look, you're going at officiency. But I'm talking fifty touchdowns in come on. I mean that kind of that'll only that lake let's talk about where this Kansas City team thought they were going to be this was a team that had a lot of ways you look at where their defense is added a questionable one because they thought they had time to build a defense because they thought this was a team in transition like they assume Patrick Mahomes comes in a little bit of time to learn the system. This was not what this Kansas City team was supposed to be and they're there because of him. So to me, I look at it. And I loved your brazen the professional that he's been throughout his career. And you get the get the old guy who's still doing it at such a high level a ridiculous level and drew Brees the trophy. But to me, I think it's a clear cut favorite and it's Patrick Mahomes. Get triple action protection for optimal. Andrew performance was shell v power nitro plus premium. Gasoline this the locker on ESPN radio John Schwartz in Jordan. I you should be the MVP again. I'm not quite sure if he's going to win the award and you're right. The chiefs and my brother plays for them. He's the right tackle. So I follow them closely. I thought they go eight this year. I did not see this coming from Pamela homes. This right. Jeff your brother probably would have said the same. Yeah. Yeah. And if you look at. What impresses me most about Mahomes? It's not the no look passes. And it's not the it's the pre snap adjustments. He makes and just seeing things happen priest. But he is so aware of what's happening before the snap. He will look to the left and there's flip back right and throw the ball or he looks or vice versa, or he or he knows whereas outlets. Get a beer. Okay. Pressure comes hit the back. Now. It's that stuff. I think we're he's light years ahead of what we thought we everyone always knew the fizzle gifts were there was never a concern. It was the mental things even my brother said after last year week seventeen when there were the Denver and one he played better than I thought just from a mental standpoint knowing what to do where to go. And that to me is what's been most impressive about this. It's not it's not the fifty touchdowns at five thousand yards. Yeah. That's great and whatnot. You know, even today he hits passes that were great. But then it's gonna be easy in the playoffs. It's just a priest. He never is fooled numbers the wrong word to use almost never fooled priest app. And that to me has been the most the most impressive thing. Yeah. I mean, the fifty and five thousand sticks out so much, and we were talking about this earlier this week Peyton Manning hit those plateaus in twenty thirteen and received forty nine and fifty all provoked position. And to me that just forget sentiment. You can still appreciate what you're breezes done. But I mean, you gotta look at that and say that is rare, and what Mahomes brings you talked about him pre stap, and we see what he does post that the plays that he makes to me. I think he's the only decision here is to give to malls. I would agree with you. Here are coming up next. It's Kirk cousins. Supposed to be the answer in the Vikings. What do they do? Now. There are the plants. You talk about it next. You're listening locker on ESPN radio the ESPN app is a possibility that I can go back in time. Question to me, go back in time and fight go back in the octagon. I do not have the ability to go back.

"I believe I don't know if he was was he was he sharing time with Don Strock but Marino with five thousand yards in forty eight touchdowns but doing it with nineteen Eighty-four rules and I still maintain Marino with throw sixty touchdowns. If Marino of eighty four played today with today's rules and those wide receivers he throws sixty touchdown pass. I really believe that. Yes. Paulie Marino's rookie year. He started nine games. He was seven and two and he had twenty touchdowns and six interceptions really nice rookie year. But he didn't he only played half. By the way on this date. Nineteen Ninety-one the NBA's most one sided game took place Cleveland against Miami. The final score was one forty eight to eighty. So my Miami lost by sixty eight point. "Pants. Pat, and Joe Montana the exact same that we're doing Louis go with it baby. Stop look, look you saw what happens when you undersold this combination man, Mike, you don't want to get on. I know look, I know I see you sitting there like moving around in your seat going. Are you serious? Are you seriously going here? These guys are special though, this is here here. Here's the new prediction. Okay. Yup. Five fifty five thousand fifty touchdowns five thousand yards. He he's on pace for up for more that right now. You believe that? Hey, when I said when I said, thirty touchdowns people are like you idiot. You know, anything? That's why you're working at ESPN. Okay. You're right on the money big boy. And he is he is more than delivered. In terms of him being the extension on the field of Andy Reid. Yeah. I thought that was really a very very bad. I grew it comparison. Yeah. When I when I sat down and talk with Andy out in Denver before they played the Broncos on Monday night a couple of weeks ago. That's exactly what he said was that his relationship with this kid is far as sitting down trying to determine exactly what he's comfortable with what he likes to run the kind of things that really make him feel good going into a game is so easy and so natural. So organic that he really never stresses about anything. And if you know, Andy, and he's kind of like that. And he's very easy going very natural, very organic. Although at the same time, very detailed and very particular as far as how he wants his offense run. But they kind of they day this mess perfectly. They have a synergy that very much so is one where would Andy wants done Patrick takes onto the football field in gets done, and he has an extensive of them out there, and they are able. To fight through adversity some of the versity that they've had already and neither one of them ever get panicked. They always feel as though they have a way to figure it out. And it's just it's flat out special. They told me this from day one. They told me the kid was going to do special things. They told me he was wired differently on top of the fact that he just has a very unique skill set of the license. You haven't seen in a long time, and it's all coming to fruition and right now. And here's the thing. Here's the thing that people don't really realize about this kid, or maybe they do he is the unquestioned leader on this football team already veterans have given it to the veterans have asked for the veterans want him to be the one who stands in front of the football teams in kind of leaves them gives them the direction and tells them when to keep working when things are going good and winning and went to not get down and continue to work on when things go bad guys like Justin Houston. It's guys like Eric berry who have said it's his team now, and he's taking it over real quick to to say what he's on pace for he's on pace. For over fifty two hundred yards as well. As Ben Rothlisberger by the way and on pace for fifty four touchdown. So he is on pace for listen. I learned after. Yeah. Go ahead. Let's start. I'll just I'll anything I was gonna say I didn't mean to cut you off is affected. Remember now. This is a kid who in his first year as a starter is doing this. Ben Rothlisberger has been around for a long time. Correct. Then Rothlisberger has played with Antonio Brown for a long time. He's played for Mike Tomlin for a long time. This is Patrick Mahomes first full year as a starter his first year. That's ridiculous. What he's doing what he's doing? We may not see done for a long long time if ever again what he's doing is special. He's a first year starter coming from an offense that everyone said his skill set in what he knew in college will not translate the what's going on in the NFL. So that also speaks to just the Khanna coaching job that Andy Reid is doing right now. And I asked this question on Twitter lesson although I was talking about Brian Kelly. I know that's your team and your school. I wasn't trying to say he shouldn't have been coach of the year. But. What I was saying was this. What does it mean to be like coach of the year? What exactly are the criteria for that? Because if Andy Reid is in coach of the year for what he's doing for Patrick Mahomes right now. I don't know. Who is now we're talking to Louis Riddick on the shell Pennzoil performance line are ESPN NFL front office insider, and it's absolutely right. It shows up all the time especially knowing when you're getting a guy that a lot of us looked at and thought young Roskill set. But after Lewis has proclamations this summer, I'm willing to ride on fifty touchdowns and five thousand yards. I am not denying Louis Riddick any longer because it was overwhelmingly prophetic, but I ask you who is with this team. Now that you said unquestioned leader a top of their division right now. But you look very closely followed by a chargers team that they beat week one and get ready to face in a couple of weeks as you look down the stretch for both of these teams have do you think there's any shot that the chargers who are led by one of those veteran quarterbacks and Philip rivers have a chance of catching them. Sure. They're very much. A look the. The chiefs have been very tough three-game stretch coming up for them. And they know it they know that this right here is kind of the moment of truth for them starting with the ravens on Sunday. And this is a football team. The ravens that can give them a lot of problems because they have a running attack that could absolutely just drive them. Crazy eat up a lot of time on the clock. Keep Patrick off the football field and basically do to them what the Cowboys did to the saints which is played great defense. Run the football and frustrate the heck out of you to the point where all of a sudden now you look up, and you don't have that many possessions in your in a dogfight. So they know that they need to play some of their best football over the next three weeks. They know that the chargers look Philip rivers is one of the very best. They know that they cannot afford to have any letdowns at all they AFC west is probably is interesting of a division as there is. Because you can't forget about Denver either Denver right now. Although the you know, the injury to Emmanuel Sanders hurdle greatly brutal. It's it's awful. It's awful. But I mean, they they are a team that right now starting to hit their stride. And they have got some of the components that you need to win in today's game in namely, they have two guys who can absolutely just terrorize your quarterback in shop in Bonn Miller. So this division is very very interesting here down the stretch and the chiefs as good as they have been. They know the right now is when they have to put the pedal to the floor more so than as far as let's put a bowl on a team. And I want you to do it from from former player that you were and front office. So Jacksonville loses last night. We know their season is over after what they had last year. So start from a player's standpoint. What's going on in that locker room? If you are a player on this team. And then from the front office side. What's that first meeting going to be like when the season is over like what the hell just happened from a player's standpoint. Look this this team if I'm on that team right now, especially I'll talk about it from the defensive side of the ball since that's where I played. And I've been on teams were defenses dominated an offense is kinda lagged, and you can get very frustrated when offenses. Carrying their weight and it can affect your performance. Although I will say this. There's something wrong. If I'm a player on the football team. I'm going in. And if I'm not one of the leaders, I'm going we lack leadership on this football team. We do we know that we are run such a team that has led bar defense and is led by turnovers, and we need to get the offense as many opportunities as possible. But right now, we're quitting. This is a front running football team on that side of the football in particular last night. And it was exposed for just that and don't give me it's Thursday night. And they're traveling. And they can't you know, it's always, you know, the the rotea always has difficult time really raising their level play on Thursday night games. What they did. Last night was embarrassing. You seeing some of the highlights right now. The one run the sixteen yard run. I believe it was in the third quarter that there can rehab for a touchdown, you soul, guys literally. And I'm telling you and Mike you, you know, this you saw guys going. I'm not hitting him. I'm not tackling him business decision. It's it's not. It's not worth it to me. And that is a problem. And if I was a guy on the team right now, I'd be I'd be. Be worried about the next phase that you wanted me to talk about which is what does the front office going to do? Because right now, I guarantee you Tom Coughlin is like beside himself coming out of his skull. We're trying to figure out why this football team can shut out Andrew luck one week. And then the next week turnaround on this absolutely lay an egg not play bad lay an egg like they didn't even want to be there. So how am I going to dress? This team won a better figure out quarterback. That's obvious. We have to be more than just a one dimensional run cetera football team. So that means what am I doing wide receiver? Where does the weaponry going to be like around whatever my quarterbacks going to be hopefully, we can keep our offensive line healthy because offense align health, really hurt them. And then on the defensive side, I'm looking at the scheme, and I'm looking at the leadership on this football team, particularly at linebacker and at safety going who is the guy who when we're absolutely getting run through. Like, we were last night is going to say, you know, what guys this isn't on the fact that the offense stinks. This isn't on the fact that we know all year long we've needed to, you know, really. Raise our level of play to help that side of the ball. This is on us. And right now, we got a problem. They don't have nobody on that side of the ball. That'll do that you tell me who the leader is on that defense. Now, there isn't a single callers. It's not telling Smith, it's not miles, Jack. It's not bury church only think trick started last. It's not those guys. It's it's they don't have. They right now are led by Jalen Ramsey, right? Most visible player on that football team. And he was a guy who said the rest of the leaks stunk. And yet they're just getting lunch ruined smacked around like, they they look like a bottom tier deep statistics say exactly, and he's alluded to the fact that you'll miss me when I'm gone. So we'll see what they get a mess to clean up. It's amazing. Some teams can't handle success. And it seems like the Jacksonville Jaguars this year couldn't handle success. Lu you junior and I can handle the success.

Just like if he would take that to places that mental full try that. Yeah. Which your head down and just get it done and get it done and for our after hour after hour. Yeah. When I was when I was swimming at Stanford. There was a guy. Call Jeff cost off who was one of the premier distance swimmers of of that time and every year on New Year's day. He'd do five five thousands on the fifty minutes. Oh, all five thousand yards on fifty minutes. Which means you're just to make the interval you have to hold minutes per hundred and he would get minutes of rest every time, but that was annual workout. And it's like, I don't there are very few people on planet earth could do that. How do you finish? That was he just in pieces on the side. No, he I mean. Yeah. He'd be tired. Long lineage of great uconn, women's basketball players Stewart may be the one that he made off too. That's right now, he's got it. Yeah. But it made it may be a stewardess when it's all said and done how about this. If you're if you're wanting Baker Mayfield to be what you wanted to be basically based on stature, he's going to have to be drew Brees has become right because he doesn't have the speed of the elusiveness of Russell Wilson Michael Vick for shorter quarterback. So for him to be success. He's going to have to do it the way drew Brees is done it, which is being really accurate from the pack. Right. Well, the Browns and the saints play week to in New Orleans bakers not expected to see the field because it's still tyrod Taylor starting. But drew Brees who has authored five of the nine five thousand yard passing seasons in the history of the NFL had this to say about Baker Mayfield. Man. He's got all the tools. He's more athletic. He probably can run around better. He's got a stronger arm. He says he's going to be better than me. He's going to be better than me. The two have never met or spoken, but they did attend high schools in Austin that are about twelve miles apart. And he's just going to be our heads a chance. I think he said it'd be better than me could be better than me is what he said know buying that. That's sort of where he I mean, look. Let's come on. Don't know. "And perhaps that is the case, we'll say what we do looks like, but it just feels like to me that the Rams offense as we talked about earlier is a lot more about the sum of the parts than the quarterback the jets offense. I mean, they got Isaiah Crowell back there. Okay. I mean that dude, he's a nice running back, but they don't have they've Robbie Anderson. They had a curse. You've got all these guys drinkers who are nice players, but they're not elite players. They're not quality players at their position. They're not even in the top twenty or thirty players at their position. Potentially Sam darnold showed me yesterday that he can carry the load at least on that side of the ball with that good jets defense. And I don't know if Jared can carry the load that way the Detroit Lions are trashed let-let's, KOMO, trash. That defense come on. Look at that that defense was horrible last night in their best player. Zeke Yuanta. Who's on these? Who's the the franchise tag player? He went down with an injury. And so now this defense I was already poor. That's the reason why they brought in Matt Patricia because it was like, we've always had the offense. We've got the quarterback, but now we gotta have the defense. The defense wasn't good, and in the quarterback who has been traditionally, just blah was even worse. Last night, he threw what four interceptions he did. It was the fifth time in his career that come on like met, but he's had some highs. Let's not make him like he's trashed though. Pro Bowl season. He's had seasons where he still for five thousand yards teams winning records. It's never. It's never good like the, he's built his record off of teams that traditionally don't make the playoffs or finish under five hundred. You can look at this the Matthew Stafford record. And again, I've always said it before. Give me a Matthew Stafford game, but you say, oh, I remember that game. Well, yeah, like four comebacks last year loan in the fourth quarter you had more than anyone just start the season, I believe are the first half of the season, but someone else comebacks for more guys like golden tape, making a great play. You know what I mean? And it was against bad teams though. That's the that's the point about it. He doesn't do that against the Packers. He doesn't do that against the Vikings. He'll do that against the bears. He'll do that against, you know, the a team like, you know, like Washington or something like a team that they're supposed to beat. He makes it look hard and you're like, you're making way too much money. You are the best quarterback on me. I was. One of the best quarterbacks, I guess in the debt division, but yet he still struggles that's that's the scary part when it comes down to Detroit for me. And so look, I give Sam darnold the credit for last night. He beating them up, but he didn't beat up a Oakland Raiders defense or Minnesota Vikings defense or some of these better defenses in Lee. He beat up the lines who did had no pass rush. I'm can't even name their starting linebacker. The guys up front, Matt, Patricia, looked loss last night in win will people how many games do you say about Goff where you say that Gough won them the game? Like how many of those that game against the Cowboys last year in Cowboys stadium, I mean, I mean, fence play pretty damn. Well. They only let ten points, you know golf doing those things though to golf has some game. You're like, okay, yeah, I can see that now, like you can see now he's playing at a higher level and so he's got more than if you actually right now, Matthew Stafford, your golf. I think dear golf, he's a little bit better with the football, but and I'm I'm sorry. I was a shootout. It was thirty points right. But if you think about it though, really, I look winter people wanting to stop taking the Bella check assistance and expecting to get the same results. Oh, well, look, that's clearly something that's a thing. I mean, this record is ridiculous moment. I Matt Patricia yet former defense according to for the New England, Patriots. These with the lions and the lines go out there and Sam darnold just goes through and like Swiss cheese..

"Let's see could be later on maybe david johnson if the cardinals are the cardinals make the playoffs all right the cardinals were to make the playoffs that's david johnson probably the best chance given the fact that i highly doubt it'd be sam bradford leading them they're kind of one of those ap adrian peterson type situations where he's just that good to the point where he's seeing hanley put in the team on his back in their get into the playoffs that where i think that's the way i see it happening and like i said i could see that happening with david johnson and he's good enough to where arizona could most likely put all the offense bird on his back and he'd be able to do well and take this team far right because i guess it's in buffers on a bad quarterback but nonetheless i mean he's not going to go out and when you ballgames you're going to need players like david johnson do that so i do johnson winning it maybe zeke elliott given the fact that dot prescott completely lost without him last year could antonio brown winning tonio brown i fell was on his at least had opportunity to last year's just didn't he get he got hurt all right i think if you didn't get hurt there would have been a better chance of winning if not probably would have won it all right but as far as my pick to win mvp this season let's see distraught watson's on this list kirk cousins could do it but the vikings would need to go like fourteen in two or something like that for it to happen carson wentz was close last year i don't see him doing it this year drew brees see that happening statistically at one of his worst seasons since like his early years in the nfl russell wilson i mean that teams bad enough to where they make the playoffs russell wilson could have a chance forty niners make the playoffs i mean why not jimmy garoppolo i'm not trying to pick our raj that's too easy let's go mrs tough i mean even andrew luck vangelis healthy week one he takes the colts the playoffs why not him or i'm gonna go because i think wentz is going to miss what four three games probably brady i don't think you're wanted again wilson i just don't think the seahawks get enough for him to have an opportunity to get it cam new in by the possibility i'm gonna go rogers i guess i don't feel good about it i wanted to go with cam newton but if igure panthers won't be good enough for him to win an award like that shawn watson could be one like i said vikings thirteen and three fourteen to kirk cousins could win it and even andrew luck so i'm gonna stick with our rogers i mean why not rosh can go out there forty touchdowns five thousand yards boom instantly mvp right so y'all go with their rogers but then the less i guess jimmy garoppolo being six kind of high matt ryan cam newton probably be ahead of i'm fine with him being ahead of kirk cousins on the shawn watson and all those guys but on the less i mean rodgers saba liz you can't really argue with that can you though you can't right so we're going to wrap it up here next up we're gonna be talking about today's world cup game so stay tuned and i'll be right back check out the show that's built on the from the ufc two extreme cage fighting they got the fights covered check out the gmc m a podcast get the latest news on past or upcoming fights join us as we've talked to in about some of the biggest names in mma past president feature when it's the fight game there's just one show to check out gsm see podcast dot com backslash m e dash podcast don't forget to leg facebook and follow them on twitter visit gsm seeing podcasts dot.

"Right i get it like that is fitting a lot of teams do but then in 2016 when he almost five thousand yards as a 97 quarterback rating 25 doug cents to twelve picks eight yards per attempt once you decide after that year we're not signing him longterm you knew you weren't ever signing and longterm you could have traded him you there were things you could have tried to do to not to now be in this position franchise the mcginn and then they got rid of the sean jackson and also pierre garson two thousand yard receivers now he made a lot of money but he still came back worth they know they're good season to real priorities signed him as a free agent he didn't do anything for kirk cousins in in the one year there so now that we're now in a position cousins is the best healthy quarterback to hit the market in a long time people like obama manning was a free agent hidden his neck operated on runner breeze was a free agent he had a shoulder surgery dante had the knee surgery like there we haven't had a quarterback this good hit the open market in a long time a lot of teams are gonna be going after like this go ahead i know my man wit jets fan generally called very much want her cousins you guys have been scrambling fitz patrick all these other guys call kirk cousins and is played in the cold array he'll be able to throw the ball in in that conference i mean look they got tom brady he's already the second best second best quarterback if you put him in the afc east can i tell you where i think issue that should call him cleveland cleveland you got the first pick you if you don't we've you're not going to draft a quarterback you could make it to where you have a nut multiple number one two consecutive years of the draft load up on blue chip talent maybe a sake one barkley maybe it it started offensive player and try to get cousins that way i gotta go get you in all fits alignment barkley with the number four pick to right there's a lot you can do if your cleveland if you can sign you're quarterback and it's an rampton man that makes too much since they knocked on now.
