Asteroid samples tucked into capsule for return to Earth

"This was a mission way we yet we sent the our SARS rex probe to the asteroid Banu, which it sorta hung around. Looking for a good long while up until last week when I decided I, Kai we're GonNa land on this thing and take a sample while it was a success. until it may be wasn't where we we've Houston, we have a problem. Yeah. Hopefully, not long term problem hopefully solvable but Yeah I think I think the bottom line is they were too successful would that be way of describing it? So the just to recap the the device that they use, it's so the spacecraft itself approaches the surface of of asteroid. Benadryl did this last week in fats. With a kind of almost like a miniature BECO-. Stretched out, which contains a device on the end, which is called Tag Sam. Tag. Sam Is an acronym for touch and go sample acquisition mechanism scrape. On. Mind that one. That one at all go to the feeling of just touching the surface to it hasn't it tax tag lock the game. Exactly. So I'm so this is sort of like a pan. which collects the the sample. Then there apparently is. as a Myla flap, which is meant to seal shocked wants the sample has been collected. Box they were so successful with the tags on the some of the some of the bigger bits of soil and doug that didn't go through the flat properly have wedged it open. Now. They've been the they've collected more than they expect it to. And Dot. Essentially. Maine's that. I feel that they have the possibility of collecting. If they didn't feel that got enough they have the possibility of collecting another sample in January I think the eleventh of January but that I think has now been ditched because they feel they've got enough. In fact has as the NASA bulletin says because the first sample collection event was so successful Nasa Science Mission Directorate has given the mission team the go-ahead to expedite sample storage. In originally scheduled for the second of November. In the space craft sample return capsule to minimise for the sample loss. So this is a separate capsule, the Ash L. see the sample return capsule. which they've got a stow, the sampling and. One there's a quote from Dante Lauretta who's the principal investigator for Cyrus? Rex University of Arizona, the abundance of material we collected from new made it possible to expedite our decision to stow the team is now working around the clock to accelerate the storage line. So we can protect as much of this material as possible for return to Earth now. This is where it gets tricky because what was expected to happen with the storage procedure was that? Cyrus. Rex. would run autonomously through a sequence of events. and. So what they're doing now. A saying, no, we don't want that to happen. We want this to be done. So carefully, carefully enough that we don't lose soil face so they gotta do it all by hand in other words, send a command watch. What happens. And then send the next command watch. What happens the problem is you've got thirty seven minute delay between sending the command and knowing what he's done because they signal travel time at the moment between us and the spacecraft is eighteen point four, five minutes. So each step means that you've got a way for thirty seven minutes while you take the step and then wait to see what happened. In in the in the consequences, it's GonNa be very, very painful I. Think Andrew. This is probably happening as we speak 'cause shadow for the twenty seventh of October. USTA. I would we are the following day? So I, think it's happening now so By the time this this goes to add the outcome might note already oh drought. We've lost it all up. Sure it will be why. Hope not but yeah, it's In terms of glitches when it comes to space missions, this is not the worst. It's ever happened on a visit to another world or another object but. Know, there's been the famous cases of lind's caps getting stuck on by hate all sorts of weird and wonderful things but. it sounds like that go to solution and when Libby Watch. Documentaries or movies about problems in space it's always about working the problem and they obviously have got an idea on how to deal with this. The just GonNa have to be very careful with the execution. Thus correct exactly which is why the doing it one step at the.

Creativity is a Choice and It's Important

"Hello and welcome to another episode of Duct. Tape Marketing podcast. Is, John chance my guest today is Seth Godin. He is the author of Eighteen nineteen twenty who knows where we've stopped counting maybe he hasn't maybe as publisher has an avenue but these are books that have changed. The way people think about marketing about business they've been translated in thirty eight languages. You know the dip Lynch. Pin Purple Cow Permission Marketing. This is marketing is also the founder of the very innovative ult- NBA and the Akimbo podcast. One of the few podcasts me as a podcast actually listened to he's got a new book out called the practice ship creative work. So welcome back seth. John It's such a pleasure such a pleasure I've lost track, but this is at least a seventh or eighth appearance on the podcast for you. You're probably up there amongst the leaders in the Pantheon. And always one of my favorites so. Let's just to it is their way to do the work that you wanted to. There's always a way to do the work there might not be a way to get paid for it. And those are two different things. So I'm in favor of hobbies I'm in favor of doing things you're passionate about I. Think. As soon as you show up to sell it to somebody, you have to make a promise and you better be able to keep that promise and there's no guarantee that you are entitled to get paid for doing something you think you should get paid for it's based on the market not based on you. So your career. And, I know the answer, a spindle. Go. Let you share the volumes of this answer. Have you passed on opportunity to do what you? To stick to doing. US was. Right. To, stick what I thought was doing what's right right for you. So. I, think that we spend an enormous amount of time reverse engineering. The what we think we're passionate about right. Like you run into a twenty one year Oh. Yeah I I was born to program in Perl and I have to live deep into the ruby on rails thing because if you make me do something Lennox I'm just GonNa hate that that's not who I have. Well, wait a minute myrna the things you're talking about even existed where you were ten. When does it suddenly become who you are know what you did was you thought about what's the environment I would be in if I got picked for a thing and I'm not getting picture I'm sad but you know. You and I have talked about the summer camp that I helped drawn in nineteen ninety that I still go back to I believe for a very long time that the only thing that would make me happy was running that place and I adjusted significant portions of my life or around that goal, and once it became clear to me, I couldn't do that and the other things that I wanted to in life. I had to make a choice and I gotta tell you simulating those feelings in a different world has actually enabled me to teach more people 'cause more changed happen, and have a different sort of life. Is it the same? No, but it's Still works because what we want is a feeling we don't want specific we make up the specific 'cause we think it's going to get us the feeling. So in the subtitle is the creative and I think a lot of people of course have a their definition what that means. So what is creative work? Okay. So, because there's a conspiracy to get us not to do creative work. Creative work has been pigeonholed as something done by painters or maybe someone who right to symphony. That's ridiculous. Creative work is the human act of solving interesting problem. Doing, something generous that might not work. That's it. Those three things. So if you're an H. back person and you've got a client who is sweltering because everyone else is told him, there's no room in their addict for an AC unit and you figure out a clever way to use a different technology. That's creative work. Because it wasn't in the manual and no one did it before you got there. If, you come up with a way to adjust the pricing for client to really needs what you do, and they can't afford to pay you now and you both end up happy on the other end that's creative work as well. and. So I don't think we're running out of categories I think we're running out of guts. So you and I had a chat this weekend this past weekend and I want to bring up a couple of the things that we talked about the they obviously are in the book as well But there's some of my my greatest hits. How's it from someone talked about? Reassurance is futile. Yeah. This one really gets under people's skin began. It is so pleasant. I'd like reassurance as much as the next person, but it doesn't work, and the reason it doesn't work is reassurance is what happens when someone we trust tells us everything's GonNa be okay when they are predicting the future on our behalf and for five minutes when wow that's so great to hear and then we realized. No one knows and so we need to be reassured again all the way until we get to the future. And the problem with that mindset is number one. There isn't enough reassurance number two it implies that the outcome is all that matters. The alternative is to refuse reassurance to say I don't know and no one else does and it doesn't matter because I'm going to do anyway.

Pakistan opens first metro line after years of delays

"Years of delay Lahore, which is the the country's second be a city population of about eleven million eleven. Million people has just opened its first metro on the orange which is twenty seven kilometers long cuts across the city. It's going to shave what was a two point five hour bus trip down to forty five minutes, which is obviously absolutely brilliant for the people living there. Did however, cost about one point, five, billion euros. The majority of which did come from. China. So there's been a little bit of tension. Surrounding, not just purely because of the fact that Pakistan as as a country has built up. Billions tens of billions of euro, worth of debt to China as part of its belt and wrote an issue. But if we're just going to focus on the project pretty good win for the city for an amazing if all of these developing nations need to kind. Also, kind of match what's happening elsewhere in the world about being a bit more environmental, getting people out of cars and onto onto easier transport. So a good move

Autonomous Spacecraft are the Next Step for NASA

"Autonomists function for spacecraft more than two hundred, million miles from Earth is absolutely critical at that distance signals from Earth take approximately eighteen point five minutes to travel from mission control to the craft. The time lag prevents live commanding for any maneuver. So besides the autonomous sample collect sequence, oh, cyrus rex also tested a new autonomous navigation system designed to protect the spacecraft during its descent to the Rock Strewn surface of asteroid Banou. Breaking Down the Final Debate

"Want to get straight to of course the big story I don't know how late you stayed up but I stayed up to the very end president trump and vice president biden facing off last night in their final debate of before the election joining us right now to focus on the issues that matter most your money pollster and political strategist Frank Luntz Frank let's get straight to it some of the top moments from the debate this one from the first hour take a look at this. They said. Elected if he's elected, the stock market will crash. Say. Very quickly. The idea that the stock market is booming this is only measuring what's happening where I come from his scranton and climb on the people don't live off the stock. Market. So, branch I. Maybe we should start here who won this debate in your mind the mind of the undecided. From One But he did not win by a significant mark. It's not GonNa Change Votes, which is the real question in the real question who's going to win this election and did the debate have an impact? and. The answer is that it it still looks like it's going to be Joe Biden still up Psychic Donald trump ended up being his worst enemy. By the way, there were two separate debates last night. If you watch for the first twenty, twenty, five minutes envy you say that you stayed up late to watch the whole thing the first twenty or twenty five minutes Tom. Trump was calm names collected as answers were. Seis, you actually had to lean into listen to him. I was in the hall and I was watching the people around me and they were all sitting forward. Debate went on got more and more agitated with Joe Biden clearly the the idea that there is that the you'd him bothering him and Joe Biden while he did not give answers kind of answers that the public wanted they were good enough. That he did well enough that I don't think it changes the trajectory though. What does your another clip right now and then I wanna walk through what what you thought about it and what those around you thought about the economy came up again when the candidates made their final case of the night. Success is going to bring us together. We are on the road to success, but I'm cutting taxes and he wants to raise everybody's taxes and he wants to put new regulations on everything. He will kill it if he gets in, you will have a depression, the likes of which you've never seen your 401k's. We'll go to hell and it'll be a very, very sad day for this country. President. Biden. Same question to you. What will you say during your inaugural address to Americans who did not vote for you? How say? I'm an American president. Represent All of you whether you voted for me or against me. And I'm GonNa make sure that you represent. I'M GONNA. Give you. Hope we're going to move. We're GONNA choose science over fiction. WE'RE GONNA CHOOSE HOPE OVER FEAR WE'RE GONNA choose to move forward because they have enormous opportunities, enormous opportunities to make things better. We can grow this economy. So, which was the more effective final a final effort. That encapsulated the election and did not show. The Donald trump chest, your four case will go to help. With Donald Trump being explicit being accusatory. Of being very strong but but being negative. And you had Joe item in the language he used I'm an American President I represent all of you. And that Biden approach I believe is the reason why he's leading in. Anywhere from eight to eleven or twelve percent. Now are undecided looking for answers and we're looking for specifics. Frankly they were looking for solutions to what's going on and they didn't feel Joe Biden provided them, and what I think is happening is that it's a choice tween sonal, you don't want and policy your freedom. Donald Trump still presents himself. In a way that others wondering too I want more more years, BIS versus policies that they don't know at aren't. Clear, and frankly Joe Biden may have to really verify them taxes ever talked about supreme. Ever talked AB- statehood. DC. Or Co now, you're going to jump in. In the end. You believe that Donald Trump himself last night but. I. Go ahead Andrew. Frank. What about I? Mean there were allegations obviously from both sides about corruption The president tried to go hard at several points against vice, President Biden in relation to his son and some of these. Reports or theories depending on. Where you stand about them and then of course vice president. Biden went back at at at at at the president about corruption to some degree or arguing that there was corruption inside his own administration. Did I either lay a hand on each other now because what what went on with hundred buying still never clarified Donald Trump was successful in raising the issue he wasn't successful in prosecuting issue is a big difference. So that our focus group participants, they still understand what hundred didn't don't understand the connection between. This connection between hunter and his father they wanted to know more they were upset. Joe. Bind. Didn't explain more but did change their votes. No. In the end I think that former trump voters and undecided because that debate I think they're gonNA come home but Donald trump needed to to radically change the condition of this race in eleven days the advertising do speeches won't do it. The rallies won't do it. The acts won't do it. So that, you gotta give trump a minor victory because he'll bring a few voters home and it will close the race a little bit. But in the end I think Joe Biden won the

Quibi shuts down after six months

"Between the idea being less than perfect, which we We own and the environment we found ourselves in is where the fail has come. That's Jeffrey Katzenberg, founder of Quick Be in an interview with CNBC yesterday morning, and this is after the announcement that Quimby after a mere six months as a streaming service is shutting down and this is an idea that many people were skeptical about from the jump. Jeffrey Katzenberg and his co founder, Meg Whitman, raised a lot of money, $1.75 billion, and yet people didn't think it would work. And when Jeffrey Katzenberg says, as he does repeatedly, we don't know what went wrong. I think a lot of people in Hollywood Matt think they do know what went wrong. Yeah, this is a case where the critics ended up being right because most people from the beginning said What is new about this idea? You are attempting to create a market for premium short form. And that people would pay for on their phones when the market wasn't exactly screaming for this idea, Geoffrey thought that high end star driven vehicles would work on phones when most people are perfectly happy looking at TIC tac, or snap or YouTube or watching premium content on places like Netflix or HBO, Max on your phone. It wasn't exclusive. It wasn't original, and ultimately it failed. Well, I would say it was original idea, but unfortunately, it was an original idea that no one asked for five minutes. 10 minute increments says this programming was offered in. I don't know that many people who just wanna watch five and 10 minute things. I mean, especially as you say, in the world of Tic Tac and Sam and YouTube is available again, and it's not premium content. People don't seem to even at this point have an interest in that The hypothesis is that they would, but they clearly didn't And it was a very cluttered market. Anyway, they decided to go ahead during the pandemic. Now, you know, they are saying Is this a reason why it didn't work Was it of the wrong time, and people did complain that they leased in the early going? They couldn't watch this stuff on their TV. They also couldn't share it on social media, So there were a lot of issues there. But the fact is, I don't really think the pandemic has anything to do with it. I think it was an idea failed because people are not wanting to pay. You know, they're they're slowly coming to pay for other streamers. They wouldn't want to play for five and 10 minutes stuff and none of it. Most of all, I think, really sealing the doom. Nothing broke through. I can't think of anything that people chattered about. That was a must watch on quicky. No. In a lot of the time that, Katzenberg said people would be watching this stuff was going to be spent that doctor's offices are on the bus or commuting things that did grind to a halt during the pandemic. So was not an ideal time to launch. This certainly didn't help. But It didn't fix the ultimate problem here, which was that it was filling a market that did not exist. Now. It doesn't mean that down the road, someone won't figure out short form premium content. My opinion is, it will likely be an existing streaming service like snap or YouTube or one of the others that figures out how to get people to pay for this kind of short form content by launching from scratch, declaring that you are going to reinvent The entire content universe raising $1.75 billion from a bunch of traditional Hollywood oriented cos That's a challenge.

Takeaways from the last presidential debate of 2020

"See Red states and blue states. What I see is American United States. Look, nobody knew what this thing was. Nobody knew where it was coming from what it was. We've learned a lot. The final presidential debate behind us now, about a week and a half away from the election of dozen days, really, or less. National Journal editor in Chief Jeff to four is with US. Live on Skype, Jeff. One thing we can say right out of the box. One does not come away from this exchange. With that throbbing headache. It was civil. You could follow the subject matter at least did that help either candidate, particularly that the temperature was far lower tonight? I think it still felt like like a bit of a draw to me. Just a lower temperature draw the last time you're right. I think if you if you beamed in here from 1992, it still would have seemed recognizable as a presidential debate. Starting even with the first segment they had on Corona virus strategy. They had some some back and forth, but it was pretty civil. We can list off the topics they discussed. Corona virus, immigration, health foreign policy. Our race with the last one, Can you even? Ah, Can you even remember what they discussed? And in what order? I'm not sure I can, and we talked about it for five minutes on air. What exchange? Did you find? Most interesting. Well, I I thought that the initial exchange on Corona virus really encapsulated What the what The knight was, If that's all you watched, you probably came out with a good sense of things. Trump said again, he said, this dozens of times it's going to go away. We're turning the corner. And he's saying this. As this week cases, air spiking and deaths are spiking again, just about everywhere. So it's just does not comport with the reality on the ground right now. The other moment that I think people are really going to seize on is when things turned to immigration and race, Trump Really held it together until then, for about an hour, And then, about an hour in they went to immigration. He again referred to murderers and rapists coming across the border from Mexico. And then he said, the only immigrants who show up for their hearings of the ones with quote really low IQ's So it was. It was a cringe inducing moment. And then on top of that they went to race, and he tried to say yet again that he's been the best president for Black Americans. Since maybe since Abraham Lincoln, which is Did overheated rhetoric to say the least. I'm not equivocating here. Anything that you've just said to now, Let's find out what Joe Biden did wrong. Trump and Biden Clash in Sharp Exchanges, But More Civil Tones

"States and blue states. But I did notice, some stumbling, some stammering from Biden. That is an issue with him at debates. What were some of his weaker moments? It is. I mean, Trump wasn't there to interrupt him, But he interrupted himself more than more than a few times hey, tends to get caught up in his words loses his train of thought a little bit, especially when it came back to bite him, especially when he was trying to explain his health care plan. UCL Shock-tar for Real Madrid

"Start, we don meltdown in Madrid thaw shocked shocked by we'd be so good and Writers. Joining us is Alex Kirkland Alex. Let's get right into it. What happened. I mean what happened was a disastrous five minutes of POCO from. Real. Madrid that I saw from them was one of the worst. I can remember to be honest it was a defensive horror show off against the shack talk team who let's not forget what may say six first choice players and a number of substitute says well, row without second reynolds the CAP team at it was just they fell off the conceding that I go they went completely to pieces gossamer spend back in the second off and pulled it back to three to lake your ruled out but that one make any once again just how bad they were in that I just bad. The. Made. Some big decisions with a view towards the classical at the weekend. He leaves out and he got lauded for leaving out crews and Ben's. Alex, I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt a tiny bit because I say, Hey, it shocked are minus six. You're at home you're motivated because you had a stinker last week and against God and deserve to lose. Maybe this is a Good Game Benza and crows today off right. The problem is when Bensimon doesn't play the team, just don't function in attack a loop. Yovich again, last night he had one pray tame header on saw and that was the throughout the day and he was. As. Roma, chasing the comeback which tells you everything you need to know cross you could understand may be giving him a a great by the problem is with Raimondo ready missing can you really leave out these other subpoenas if the of the team nine know the Ramos isn't always a nice consistent defend that but you have to heat has been that he's got a slight meet problems. He wouldn't have let the game just get away from the way didn't stop and the this. I mean Rafael Veran. Dreadful and this is the session dreadful Champions League game in a row for him because let's not forget he was to blame but both goals they began. In the summer alongside etta mealy Tout Stewart looks nothing like being worth fifty million euros around with Chip Light Volume Marcello I love Marcelo it to be honest like. An ex player he kind of jumped the shark awhile ago. s the Monday was laid out. Position was appropriate. You want to go away with any any credit on the right hand side courtois, dot them out of trouble a couple times it wasn't just the tall maitree chances and took them. Three one on ones the coach manager save over the course of the nineteen minutes. So it could have been even worse I mean less season they lost. The game of the Champions League in Paris they had a really rocky start. This is didn't. On yeah, they came back. They weren't playing Schachter. Owner but let me finish this. Season so I don't think. A rocky a shaky start like this one is anything new for Sodano, for the club however I you Janis making mistakes I think the players only are not up to the task mentally physically and technically as a group not forget didn't sign anyone in the summer. A few of the players left Bahamas pressure is really under Alex because he's done of course and everything that he's achieved as a player and manager that club is huge but that's two defeats in a row obese two different competition, and then the classic the weekend will happen if they lose is three in a row. Or do you still think that still has enough credit in the bank to two last regardless of what happens on the weekend? Of course, he's calling credit in the bank. He's got more credit than anyone because what you've done by do you think he doesn't situation is somewhat unique because even though he's won two titles as a coach, even though you on those three genders lease in a row, there are still some nagging questions I think and legitimate questions about aspects of of the jump that he does and some people and least includes people at the club at Rome Madrid at the. Question exactly how good coaches to spy everything that he's not in terms of trophies one I don't think there's any risk of him being sacked in the short sample, but we'd see Dan would say is that you can never entirely ruled out the rescue him deciding to walk away if things aren't going well, and if he feels like he's not the right man for the joke is surprised when away lost time having just wonder champion slate a milk expect that to happen right now by. Signing the we can discount entirely. This is very different. Coach doesn't necessarily need you get. He doesn't need it in the same way that other coaches to. Feels like I say he's not the right map for the talk. If you will I I completely agree that he would walk like getting say like Oh goodness can go I mean. Again he said like tomorrow is GonNa be Sunny. Who who can come up with you feel I listen I would point out that when he walked away last time, it's because two of his superstars neither films there anymore both of through. Who Was George Fredrick Handel

"Welcome back to another episode of five minutes in Church history. On this episode, we're talking about a composer George, Frederic Handel and I resist the urge to have upon here and say that we going to get a handle on handle. But let's get a handle on hindle. He was born in sixteen, Eighty five in Hallo- Germany the importance of that year is it was the same year as the birth of Johann Sebastian Bach sixteen eighty five was a great year for the birth of composers apparently, and now Bach to handle and I promise. I'm done with punts. Well handle was originally set to be a lawyer but he loved music and he quickly showed his prowess as an organist and at composing, and so he said off to be a musician. He spent some time traveling around Italy and then he was musician for the elector of Hanover. Now, the importance of the elector of Hanover was that he was the heir to the throne of England and when Queen and died childless the elector of Hanover became King George the. First of England handle moved with him to London and the year was seventeen off and from then on hand spent the rest of his life in Britain, and he's while born in Germany and German descent is known as an English composer under George. The first t founded the Royal Academy of Music, which he directed for fifteen years early on in London Handel composed for King George the first his famous water music or as in handles beloved German Tongue vassar music. The first time it was performed for King George loved it so much. He ordered it played again and then he ordered it played again. So debuted three times in a row in seventeen seventeen. After. He finished his time handle finished his time at the Royal Academy of Music. He spent much of the Seventeenth Thirties writing operas, and then he said about to write what might be considered his magnum opus the Messiah. Handel. was by all accounts obsessed with work. We would say today a workaholic and he poured himself into his work as a composer as a musician. Sadly in seventeen fifty one he went blind and then in seventeen, fifty, nine, the age of seventy four he died in, London? He was buried in Westminster Abbey and of course, the grand organ of the Abbey and the choir played his beloved. Messiah. Handel one said I should be very sorry if I only entertained them referring to the people who listen to his music, he wanted people to not only be entertained but to beat moved by his music and that was certainly the case with the Messiah. The Messiah was first performed in Dublin on April thirteen, seventeen, forty two it was performed the next year in London and King George the second was in the audience attending and when he got to the chorus for part to the Hallelujah Chorus King George, the second was moved that he stood up, and of course, when the king stands everyone else stands in. So the whole theater stood alongside of the king and that started tradition of standing during the Hallelujah course. The Messiah is in three parts. Part one begins with prophecies of the. Coming Messiah from Isaiah and Psalms, and takes us right to the shepherds watching their flock at night on Bethlehem's hillsides. Then part two covers the passion, the suffering in-depth of Christ and ends with that Hallelujah course part three picks up with Christ's resurrection and continues with his ascension and what theologians call his present session in glory, and then it ends with the day of judgement to come as the Messiah the king comes in glory. Well, that is Handel's Messiah and when he was finished writing the musical score, he signed it s D. G. Solely Dale Gloria.

Interview with Amy de la Haye

"With over seven billion people in the world, we all have one thing in common every day we all get dressed welcome to dressed the history of fashion a podcast we explore the WHO, what win of why we see where we are fashion stories and your hosts cast Zachary and April Callaghan. So casts are very regular. Listeners will remember that a few weeks back. We had a very fun episode on floor. Which is, of course, the Victorian language and symbolism of flowers, and at the very tail end of that episode I kind of teased that we would. Cover the rose in an upcoming episode, and while that episode is now it is today and not only is it today is also now two episodes because there is so so so much to say on this topic. Yes, and not as wide today we are so pleased to announce that we are being joined by Amy Della. Hey, the author of the newly released the rose in fashion ravishing and. Also she is a CO curator of an upcoming exhibition at the museum fit which will export this very same topic. Yes and a her co curator on this project is our lovely friend colleen. Hill who has yet to join us on dressed but she will do so soon, colleen, I hate to Pester my friends who are like, I'm working on my phd right now and also working full time. She will join us but. The exhibition itself was actually slated to open this past September. Well, you know pandemic twenty, twenty everything's been postponed. So we very much look forward to seeing this exhibition when it does open in the future absolutely, and this exhibition has been in the works for quite some time and it's been an international effort. Of course, the museum at sat is in New York City while Professor Della. Hey is in London. She is the root, Stein Hopkins Chair of dress history and curatorship at the College of fashion where she KOTEREC's with Judith. Clark and for so many years amy worked as a curator at the Victoria. Albert. Museum in London, of course, which has one of the most significant. Fashion and textile collections worldwide amy, we are so pleased to welcome you to trust amy I'd like to start today I by asking how you came to the field of fashion studies. This is actually something that I've been asking a lot of our guests recently and it's always so interesting and you know I'm always delighted to hear some of our favorite scholars quote unquote origin stories. Well, I, didn't really know I wanted to do I grew up in Brighton on the south of England and was interested in sort of those big punk scene than a big growth. The new romantic scene I was always interested in dress I always love textiles by ozone you I didn't want work. In elite fashion and setting in the fashion industry. Founded course that my mother found course at Brighton out gold and it was a good design history and it was the second year had been established. And whilst I've been excessively universities elsewhere in the country, I stayed in my hometown partly because Brian was brilliant place to grow up. But because there was at coast from by Lou Taylor on this fashion. And the minute I read about that I thought. That's the course me. And actually doing lose unit and meeting Lou changed my life because I had an indifferent early education. And I've never been inspired and Lou totally totally inspired me. So I did the design history coast always chose lose options. I'm a first coast I remember intensely was looking at fashion characteristic lieu of all levels from eighteen fifty to one, thousand, nine, hundred. So to me, undeniably, the most desirable seminar choice was to choose. And look amazing the buses and crinoline gowns in. Paris. But it was a question of your shot at first I was shot. So I ended up with the conditions of working class. Taylor's in London's east end instead of the. Account tell you I was devastated. Anyway. At the end of the session, lose both drizzle and within five minutes of talking to her. I was inspired and I think he changed the whole course of my interest because from that point tone low have come back to us from that point on minded was in what can Klaus history in everyday lives in the reality of fresheners opposed to fashions miss. So I did my degrade thesis in one, thousand, nine, hundred, eighty, four. On the influence of Hollywood on cheap levels of ready to and fashion in the nineteenth in America.

Thanks for the kind introduction saw and honored to be here and I've really enjoyed learning from your other guests that have been on the podcast previously. Thank you. Yeah we appreciate. It, we definitely want to get diverse perspectives that that are out there in healthcare, and yours is quite unique and I'm really excited to dive into what you're doing with your team at premature before we do get into that though amy, I love to know what inspires your work in healthcare. We'll take saw really from the very beginning of always been fascinated with bioscience and healthcare at. That's been my passion interest pretty much solely and his corneas may sound I really love the fact. That your day to day worker Labor actually helps people. It's an incredible opportunity reward. But beyond that I'm really fascinated with intricacies and complexities of bioscience both on the level of a human body, as well as a healthcare ecosystem, and so if you think about the biological system design like the indecrompt and neurological electrical systems and how they influence each other, it's fascinating and then you take that macro level and you think about healthcare in the synergies and collisions of biology technology and behavioral. Economics. And Policy and psychology, and then salt the end of the day really just the individuality of human beings living out their lives You know they make some really intriguing intersections and I think it's fascinating to thrive at those intersections and a great place to be challenged intellectually emotionally, and then those intersections are really advancing the quadruple aim of healthcare care especially with application of Ai and our company. Prem- attempts doing just that were applying ai to biometric signals to understand what's happening in the body. While it, it's fascinating work and you know you've had spent some time in previous leadership positions with other companies in a you see the future there and so talked about really biometrics. So you know exactly how you guys are focusing on biometrics what biometrics is in particular to to what you guys are doing and how exactly you guys are adding value to the healthcare ecosystem. Let's do well. Thank you. Well, really we're using biometrics to empower women to make informed healthcare decisions and our. First application is infertility. So just to step back a little bit fertility starts to decline in women in their thirties and therefore many of us who are waiting to have kids were a little bit older. It makes conception and maintaining a pregnancy more challenging and the there's new data coming out from the World Health Organization that shows that one in four couples in developing countries have been affected by infertility Suda moved to your question about biometrics we use what's called advanced, Cronin Biological and circadian. Science to be able to pull up that biometrics. So it's all about when something is happening. So chronobiology biology's is a science, understanding the phases and operations of physiological and hormonal in systems of our bodies, and then applying time series analysis to that and being able to predict and understand a variety of medical conditions because each of these bodily systems they have rhythms to him and those rhythms our cycles are specific in each individual. So in other words, they have those rhythms they impact. Things like sleep and eating and women's monthly cycles. So when we do something critical like when we have intercourse to get pregnant or avoid pregnancy or even wind during the day, we might administer a drug therapy. So effective and has the fewest side effects. So think about that saw you a morning person or a night person I'm a morning person. Okay. So that's really controlled by your biological clock. So I've the night person, but I've had to kind of force myself in between work and kids. To be more of a morning, but that's not naturally what my body wants to be in on the weekends off fall back. So your morning, maybe I'm more like I didn't even think about that but maybe I'm more like that. Okay so What does your body do? Oh, on the weekends I'm up. I'm baby. Right, exactly. What's up? Yeah, that's interesting. Okay. Okay. That's fair Okay. So this is a bow. You know applying your your normal circadian biology to how things work out. So we do is we measure biological patterns that are controlled by the clocks, and so we do this with biometric of body temperature. So temperatures a proxy for physiological activities of our body. We've got a device or wearable Caprio in that measures core body temperature on a continual basis and core body temperatures really the gold standard, a circadian science, a very rich information signal, and as one of one of our advisers stated from a diagnostic perspective, it's like taking a blood draw every five minutes and the kind of information you can pull from that. So for our. First application, we're using that information to help women identify their fertile window for pregnancy, and then many women don't even have a window because of underlying issues. So we can provide this very high fidelity information through this continual biometric that can be used to diagnose and then track the effectiveness of treatments for those underlying conditions, and then we believe that we can apply these biometrics also to contraception to menopause to sleep disorders and eventually clinical areas such as the timing of delivery of drug therapies like chemotherapy for maximum effectiveness.

Laura Jackson Of Towpath shares Her Roast Chicken Recipe

"Name is Laura. Jackson I'M The, head chef and CO owner of Towpath, which is on the regent's canal in East London. And I'd like to share one of my favorite recipes with today, which is race chicken. Obviously. A very, very simple recipe but I think one that is quite hard to pull off properly and. Rest of chickens in my life. So I think by now I think got the recipe down to T. it's a great one to cook at home because it is so simple and it's a crowd pleaser suits quick to prepare, and the reason I chose this recipe is because while one is totally delicious but. For me my sort of philosophy and the way I love to cook is not anything and the great thing about roast chicken is once you've served the chicken, you can then make a stock with the caucus. which you to make lots of different stews and soups and broths, and then there's also tends to be quite a lot of meet the you miss from carving, which can then be used for another thing. So essentially, you can get three or four dishes from one thing which makes me very, very happy. So all you need to do is get roast chicken. Of Asli, I would say, definitely. To get chicken that has had a good life. So free range organic or from a farm where you know that the having a nice time and I used to always roast chickens with butter but then maybe seven or eight years ago I had to give up Daria had some health issues. So I switched to using olive oil and actually feel that it is much better than using butter because the crispiness of the skin, you can take it to another level because. The burning properties of olive oil much lower than butter. So definitely go for olive oil. For Chicken you definitely want one big juicy lemon, and then head of garlic. If you've got some Tarragon, obey leaves to stuff up. It's bumpy can do that as well but that's not huge thing. So really super super simple. What you want to do I get your oven I would say almost as hot as possible. Obviously if you've got very strong oven, I would do it at about kind of t twenty to thirty, and then I would cut the garlic in half and. Stick. It up. It's bomb with some bay leaves. Tarragon if you have. Cut The lemon half squeeze it all the juice out like you can possibly get out and squeeze all over the chicken and again, then put the lemon up. It's bum. It just cooks more evenly if you've got lots of things stuffed up inside it. Then I put lots of pepper and some Odin Sea salt, and then a really really generous gluck of olive oil. Than, just get your hands in just rub it all over. And then pop it in the oven breasts side up an idea between twenty five to thirty five minutes at a super super high heat. Basically, this is the stage where you want the skin to go. Really really crispy. So, anywhere between that time, and then once the skin is super crispy, you want to turn the heat down really really low. So I turn it down to about one forty, one fifty. And then Cook it for another twenty five to thirty five minutes. So total, you want to cook the chicken for an hour. So if it's super high for twenty five, then you delay for thirty five. Vice Versa and then you basically take out I. don't based or touch it during its cooking and let it rest for a good twenty minutes to half an hour and then it's good to go.

"It wass bittersweet for me to hear about Doc Emmerich of NBC Sports retiring after what has been an incredible career. Hey, is ah man who has been behind the MIC for so many He memorable and really Hallmark moments in hockey over the last five decades. He's been on NHL games on NBC and NBC Sports for the last 15 years. He was the play by play announcer for the New Jersey Devils for more than 20 years. He called 22 a Stanley Cup finals. Eight Sports Emmy Awards for his play by play, including seven in a row. If you can believe that he's worked for pretty much every network there is out there He is a hockey Hall of Fame er as well. And as much as I love what he does in the NHL, I think my favorites were hearing him on the Olympic hockey broadcast. And so in light of Doc Emmerich retiring and riding off into the Pittsburgh sunset on and there's a really cool video essay that he did as a tribute to fans. Settling In With Your Budget

"You stop paycheck to paycheck, get out of debt and save more money. Earlier. Just after Mother's Day when you're supposed to do this at least here in our gardening zone I. purchased. Thirty two tomato clients twenty nine of which survived and dare I say thrived. And while I wasn't always. Of the mind that they would make it, they did they outgrew the not sturdy little green polls you can buy from big box. center stores and I will not do that next year I'm going to get something sturdier for those massive plants but needless to say we ended up. I think thirty, eight, twenty I can't remember exactly too many tomato plants. And what do you do when you have too many tomato plants you have too many tomatoes and that is exactly what happened to me and Julie. So we did what everyone did during a pandemic and we started putting things up and in this instance, these tomatoes. So the other day. I'm sitting there with a whole bunch aromas and we're doing this thing where you cut them in half you broil them in the oven for a moment and that's supposed to allow you to kind of pinch off the tomato skin and then you take that and you process it more and you ended up with. Think we ended up with that one doing some salsa. As I started the process, I kinda rinse them. I'd cut him in half I lay them skin side up on a cookie sheet I put it in the oven for five minutes. I'm watching it closely not to burn them I, pull them out, and then you have to let them cool. Weather Cooling I'm doing the next sheet I'm pinching off the skins once they've cooled down, I'm having to pull out the little white stem thing in there. And quickly like first or second cookie sheet in there were many many cookie sheets still to go. I told you. So this is GonNa take forever and she said. She said something very wise because she's. She gets to the. Essence of things quite adeptly. And she said Oh Jesse with canning, you just have to settle in. And that phrase is just kind of rolled around in my head since then and of course, while I'm sitting there pinching. Tomato. Skins off of half sliced Roma tomatoes ready for some, can't, salsa. I'm thinking about budgeting and I'm thinking about you good listener viewer and I'm thinking. Wow. Budgeting. Sometimes, with budgeting, you just have to settle in we get excited we plant all. Probably too many plants, but it's spring. It's not hot that are no weeds yet and we're excited plus we were at the store and we saw these different varieties and we're just were jazzed right so we get everything going. You put it in the ground at first. You don't even think things are working, but then the pace really starts to. Your excitement starts to take as the plants are growing, and all of that is like with any new endeavor. Here is the topic of conversation. So in any endeavour, we're going to be talking about. This. Period of initial excitement but once Wayne's and I'm just sitting there slicing my fifty. You know. Not. Fifty five, hundred, fifty, thousand. So many tomatoes and as I'm sitting there slicing the next one see no end in sight. I'm giving the wise counsel you just got to settle in and so it is with budgeting in particular that pernicious little beasts that is paying off debt. You have to find a pace where you just almost you call it out at the beginning and you just recognize you know what? We're going to be here a little while and that's what Julia was saying. She's like Oh we're canning were processing or cutting these things we're doing all these steps were standing in the kitchen sink. We're going to be here a little while we might as well just settling. Sodas with budgeting you're going to be here awhile when you've got a big goal that you want to tackle on audacious Harry goal like Jim, Collins says. Givens has big big hairy audacious goal like paying off all your debt finally, getting rid of your student loans saving up enough money for a house down payment in a market where housing just keeps. Going on a terror.

"All cover funkaway topics that can help you improve your life sure inspiring stories and always end with three easy to implement funkaway tips that you can put to work right away and usually in about five minutes. Now, let's get started on the five minutes that could change your life. Today we are talking about the good life I don't know about you but I love the good life to me. The good life is traveling where I want staying in beautiful hotels. There is nothing I. Love than a luxurious hotel, the feel of those Italian sheets. Oh my gosh. You know we all have different definitions of what is the good life for some people it's having a big big old boat to go on cruising around the lake or the ocean in Maybe for others it's too expensive car maybe it's a closet full of fabulous clothing jewels. You know we all have a different definition about it, but here's one thing that I think we all agree on having that material success that comes with. Having. Success is part of the good life whether that you have a better class of wine or you can afford champagne more often maybe you have beautiful jewelry and clothing nice handbags expensive shoes that thing we all have different. Expectations of life but one of the things that we can pretty much all agree on is that there are certain things that we have that make life the good life maybe it's a nice home maybe it's a home with a view maybe it's a an exotic vacation and like I said maybe for you or if you're like me you like a lovely hotel, there's nothing that makes me feel more opulent or pampered than staying in a beautiful. Hotel last year Tim and I went to Italy. We went to Venice, and then we went to Paris and then to epernay. France and we stayed in some beautiful places that I just you know it's something that you just dream of having coffee and breakfast delivered to your room. That's another thing. That's the good life for me I love having Room Service Tim makes fun of me because he likes to go and get coffee to starbucks or go. To the restaurant after we get up in the morning whereas I liked to have? Oh Gosh breakfast in bed brought to me, oh. There's just nothing more special I love Saint Regis hotels because when you stay at them, they have a personal butler who comes to your room and brings you coffee in the morning. So that's just part of staying at those hotels We stayed in one Saint Regis Hotel in Kyoto on the had a little. Private box that you're Butler has access to, and you could get your shoeshine. You could leave things in there and he would take care of them or you wake up in the morning and there would be a tray with gleaming Silver Coffee Pot in China cups to drink out of at just makes me feel great That's what I love. There's another thing that I love in that flowers frequently I love to have fresh flowers in the house. I bet you have certain things that you love to have. It's a big walking closet or you know A. Designer brand clothes you know whatever it is maybe if it's a maybe you've got a large screen, TV that you've got your eye on. Here's what I want you to know funkaway can help you get the good life, and that's because there is a part of your home that corresponds with the good life, and that is the front in the front of your Hong Corresponds to an area known as the Phoenix footstool now I bet you haven't heard much about that but we always here in functionally all about turtles and tortoises in the back of the home and supported the rear and all that kind of stuff. Well, the Phoenix is all about fun. It is it is a an element that corresponds to fire fire is about joy and optimism just think about how how slick, so warm and inviting when candles or flickering, and there's a fire in the fireplace. Fire is the element of fun enjoyment pleasure, success material awards. This is. One of the areas that it's like this is what makes life living yes it is great to have a good income and a good job, but the material rewards that we enjoy our lives whether that's that's a boat, a nice car beautiful home This is what makes life worth living. This is what makes life enjoyable and pleasurable, and this is what the Phoenix is all about. Now, the Phoenix, as you may recall from your your Lore and history is that this is the bird that would burn down and then rise again from the ashes. So this episode is Yes actually timed it's ninety nine, which is the which is the number nine is the number of fire and. Kind of coordinate sometimes with my the numbers of the episode and the the topics just like today because this is like a double fire number ninety nine, this is my ninth episode. In the Phoenix what other bird is is representative of fire. Now, before I jump in really quick I want to tell you that the episode podcast episode five, minute sanctuary one hundred is coming up at a very special gift for you and you'll only hear about it. You'll only know about it if you listen in to five minute punctuates insure to stay tuned for podcast episode one, hundred because I have a gift for you as my thank you for listening but let's Get back to this Phoenix footstool because it is the funniest thing in functional, it is the thing that is all about enjoyment and pleasure. So let's talk about that. Now as I mentioned earlier, we talked about the the tortoise, but let's back up even further. Let's talk about the armchair position. Now, the armchair position refers to the way your home is sited on your lot. So now for you apartment dwellers, you know you'll just have to hang in there with this Because, you can still have your Phoenix footstool to we'll talk about that. But the armchair position generally relates to the way your home is sited on land. So you typically want to have the the back of the House has a little rise or slope upwards or level is perfectly fine but we don't want is to have a house that falls away at the rear because this is just It's one of those things where it's like sitting on a stool all day yet the stool gives you a place to sit but not very comfortable for very long and you're back mind hurt that's because. You have little support and so having that rise is a is a an environmental symbol of the tortoise. The Tortoise provides support and it provides longevity just like you can sit in a chair with the back on it much longer than you can milking stool. It's the that kind of concept. Now, you also WanNa have I as you. If you can imagine if your your house looking toward the street on the left, you WanNa have a little bit of a rise or tall house next to you if you can if that's that's always ideal and on the right, maybe a little bit lower. Or shorter house What we definitely don't WanNa have is is a small house in between two big houses that that creates a whole other set of problems and that's a whole podcast. So. But the armchair position is something that is fairly widely known about funkaway. It's the idea that if your. Spouse were in a chair it would be an armchair there would be a nice high back. There would be a place to rest your arms on either side, and then here's what we're talking about today, and there would be a footstool for your feet. So you kind of want to imagine your house as an armchair and that there is an you know I don't know about you. But I love chairs like club chairs or bear share chairs that have that footstool that comes with them or maybe like a a nice. Cushion of some kind that you can put your feet up on. When you're sitting in that chair, we wanted to have a little rise little mound in front of our house, and that represents like our house where we were city seated in our house. We had that rise behind us and our we could put our feet out in front. Now, we're going to talk a little bit more about how you can represent. That in your landscape but this is how we want to view this this idea of the Phoenix footstool because really when you think about success and like you have arrived, what are you doing? You're relaxing right you're sitting there in your footstool with your feet up, you're drinking your champagne or your coffee or tea or whatever it is. Your is your favorite libation and you're able to relax. That's because once you've arrived. In. In financial terms you've also arrived materially. So for instance, may be have beautiful jewelry or nice clothing or a car that you enjoy driving those material possessions are the things that that make us feel good. That gives us a little bit more posh feeling. Maybe make us feel a little bit more spoiled. And Hey, there is nothing wrong with that because if you work for it and you have put your effort in, then you should be able to be allowed to sit back and relax and portrayed up, and that means enjoy that big-screen TV or that wonderful vacation that amazing crews of the Greek islands or whatever it is that your heart's desire and that means material success to you. So we've talked about this armchair position right and so we talked about that and how important is to understand that the Phoenix footstool is represented.

"And so many people in there are rave to me about this technique and how has helped them on so many things and this is something that I am passing on with love to you because I. Know at at one time or another everybody, we all want something to happen. We all want something good in our lives to occur, and I want to share with you this wonderful technique that has worked for. So many of my my insiders I, call him insiders punctuate insiders and has has helped me personally and I can help you too. So this is called the grant your wish technique and when you're working toward a goal like to sell your house or maybe finalized divorce like I said earlier or attract new love you don't have to wait when you have a sincere. You WanNa find a way to bring that desire to a vast right. So this technique as I said, was share with me and it's been a proven. It's proven to be a very valuable way that I have helped clients and readers and subscribers and My daughter's improve their odds of success. I've gotten so many testimonials about the grant, your wish technique, and if you use it, I'd love to hear from you. So if you use this technique, I'm going to share with you how to do it. If you use it and you find that what you want to happen happens After you've got this setup, then struck me a note I love to hear what you used it for how it worked in when it happened. So let's talk about this Now, this this technique is. Perfect for using for anything that you want to manifest. So what is important to understand is that it's there really super simple instructions but and I'm going to go through step by step. So this is what you're going to need to do your grant, your wish technique you're going to need some some products. The first thing is, is you need a red folder. Now, this can be just something that you get at at at office. Max Or Your local office store and I like to get a really pretty red glossy when I used to actually sell these kids and I tell you they flew off the shelves and but I don't sell them anymore I don't do products any longer but anyhow they I get a really pretty glossy bright red folder and it doesn't it just needs to have pockets on the inside or can just be like a regular file folder so if you don't want to Get Fancy. That's fine. The other thing that you're going to need our two bamboo flutes, they're they're called Chinese flutes and you can get those online Amazon or at your your favorite funkaway plays many of them have these flutes, their actual bamboo, their hollow bamboo flutes, and that's what you're looking for the hollow bamboo flutes. Sometimes, people use them to our to counteract beams or they use them for other other functional applications, but they're not really hard to find A I. think there's a place called functions way Dash Import, dot com they always have them. They're not very expensive but you can find them just about anywhere online. Anywhere that sells punctuate things and then you're going to need a a link of green and black ribbon I like you can use satin grow gain we've been it doesn't matter, but I would get a piece about eighteen to twenty four inches long of black and green. Now, when I say green I mean Kelly Green you know like the the green of of a pretty spring leaf not that chartreuse yellow green, not that deep forest green but a Kelly Green leave color you also want to have. Solid black ribbons so don't get anything with any kind of of print on it. You just want very I always buy a either satin or grow gain Ribbon Kelly Green and black twenty four inches long, and that'll be plenty and what we WANNA do is use this in our at our front door. So we're going to do is if you let's say for instance, she wanted to sell your house you're going to take all of like your listing papers that you have from your realtor maybe you have a sales flyer out the box. You know I sometimes they have sales flyers, and in front of your home when you're trying to sell it, you get one of those and put it inside that red folder. Now now, with the red folder, you're gonNA take the two, the two flutes and you're going wrap them you can tie one end with the two pieces of ribbon, and then you're going to braid them just rap the the ribbon around the two the two flutes, and then tie it until you run out of ribbon and then tied up at the top. So you're GONNA I usually. Will tell them at the bottom and then kind of criss cross those those ribbons across the the two flutes and then time together up at the top and you're gonNA look for a small table. It could be like a little of a bench. It could be any you know anything really just a small table and what you WanNa do is on the small table you're gonNA place it. You can stand at your front door and to the right of your front door GonNa put that little table, and this is where you're gonNA put your red folder. With your house sale papers in or maybe divorce papers or your resume. If you're looking for if you're looking for a new job and then you're gonNA put the, you're going to put the the two flutes on top of the red folder. Now, this has to be at the rock to the right of your front door as you're looking on the inside at your front door like you're ready to go walk outside you can you're looking at your at your door now don't don't distress if you have a wall there or there's no space for. A table you can get a hanging wall pocket or you know a basket or something, put it on the wall next to the door and put your put your your your folder there with your with the flutes and that will work just fine. But what's important is is that it is at the right side of the door and this will make a difference for you. So let's talk about some of the ways that you would use this. So as I mentioned this is a perfect technique to use if you're looking for a job you're in A. Place your resume or CV and there. Maybe you have a job announcement that you. You have that you really are interested about put that in your red folder now I do believe let's. We'll let me let me talk about other ways that you can. You can use it. Let's say you're looking for visa to to go to another country or something put a copy of your passport, your travel papers or applications inside of the red folder. Your divorce isn't coming coming through. You can place your papers for that and and write your wish for what you. Would like to happen and place it that in the red folder. If you're facing legal problems, you can place those papers in the red folder. If you're facing bankruptcy anything that you're you're dealing with like that, you're having problems at any legal documents that you have to put in there. You can those in the red folder and have that on the table with the with your bamboo You maybe you have too many bills to pay and you need a promotion at work right out the promotion, the job promotion, you want what you want to. Have maybe you want to sell your house you would put like I said, all of those house papers in that red folder you can also to attract someone like bring somebody back to you. You can put your love letters inside of them a picture inside of the of that of that loved one who's gone inside your red folder and have that have that place. There are next door you can put a book or Business Proposal a manuscript school papers, college applications anything to go in that folder. Now once you have that folder with your documents then. You'd so important you just put those flutes right on top of it and put that on that table and make sure that it's on the right as you are looking in out you know standing at your front door that's where you wanna put it so just WanNa make sure it's not as you're standing at the front door on your porch looking in your house and on the right it's on the right as you stand for inside your house looking at your front door. It's ahead of you. That's where the table goes on the right. This is something that I have seen work and. Make things happen over and over and over again even if you just have a simple wish, you don't have any papers, maybe you just have a wish for something. This is it's called grant your wish technique and I am I'm here to tell you it is amazing. How often this happens what what you want to do though is you really want to focus your attention. Some people WANNA put Lena four or five or six different things, and my feeling is I'm a big believer in the power of one that means you focus on one thing whatever that one thing is that standing in the way of your happiness. So for me when I first. Learned about funkaway, the thing that I wanted to do was move. So I, wanted that means I had to get that house sold. So I focused solely on that. So that's I want to impress upon you is is the power of one how different can make in your life. You can really focus on the one thing the standing in a way for happiness. So maybe that is getting that divorce or maybe it is a attracting someone new maybe you.

"Your health is wonderful and money isn't concerned than you don't have a funkaway problem. Even if the bathroom is in your well sector, your relationship corner or at the front door, it really doesn't matter. Another problem is that people frequently think that they are stuck where they are. Now with a little ingenuity, you might find that a new home or condominium apartment is possible. We're GONNA. Talk about that because I want to talk about how you really D- to look at your life and and and determine what's making you. Happy. What's making you on? Happy where where things working for you where they not working for you and then you go where they're not working for you go look at those areas of your home that they correspond to. So for instance, if your health bad while you're GONNA go look at the health sector in the east what's in that portion of? Your home and have romance is really good. I would be looking at what's going in the southwest corner. What's happening there? These are great tools and ways to analyze your home and and the good way to be thinking of it rather than this home has good function or that how has good functional because the doors this way the bedroom is located here the kitchen is over there and so on. Looking at your life is the best indicator of whether you're functionally is working like you want to. But. Let's say, for instance, upon reflection life really isn't working for you. Things are difficult and they've been difficult for a long time if you're really not sure whether to move or not. Doing this sort of personal assessment of your life is a good way to take stock of whether these are things that you can possibly change about yourself or change about your life or if this is something that just seems that it doesn't seem surmountable to you. So let's start talking about what some of these some of these things could could be in the way they could be showing up in your life. So for instance. One is that life has been one long uphill battle if constant struggle and misery has been a bigger part of your life than than the happy and joyous parts since you've lived in that home, then that might be something to think about when you're generally unhappy and you have the inability to make key areas of your life, take root and grow. This is a good indicator that the house or apartment isn't supportive or beneficial for you. It could also mean that the environment that surround your home is affecting your home your life. Now, this is something to to consider too sometimes it's not the four walls that are impacting your life. It's what's outside those fourth wall falls because. Functionally starts on the outside and goes in. So the type of environmental way that you have makes a big impact on how the house is working for you. So for instance. I remember seeing house out in. California my husband and I were we flew out to to California to go look at homes out in thousand Oaks California. He had a job offer with a a large biotech company and This was cost two thousand eight and we were looking around at houses and one of the houses that we were taken to see was house it was literally perched on the edge of a cliff. The back of the house when you walked when you drove up to the house is a beautiful circular driveway, and then when you looked outside, it just draw you know twelve feet past the front. The rear of the house it just it dropped off like you know like an absolute cliff. Well, it was clear that this family was struggling for some time and the the just that sense of desperation that was coming off of he's homeowners was palpable truly in what? I think was going on there was there was no support at the rear of the House. There's just no support and that's that meant that it had this environmental support that was a problem and you could actually see i. you know I had a fear of even being in the house because I thought one good little earthquake grumble and that. House, we go. Just down the Canyon in I wondered how how Life was for them how it treated them. You know that that family that lived there. I think it had been sort of you rolling rock up Agrees Hill, and so when you look around and you're trying to assess your home or your apartment look around we have one of the members of my facebook group had had. A comment about her she'd been looking for house and she was putting up pictures of houses and there's a couple of functionally knows. Out there and I can't go through all of them here but a couple of them are you don't really WanNa be across from hospital church you don't have big power lines cutting across you. You don't want to be looking at a ditch. You don't have a big parking lot at the front of your house things like that. You also don't WanNa. Have you know sort of ugliness drizzly maybe you have for instance I we we looked at a house not I. Don't know a couple years ago and in Houston it was beautiful neighborhood it was so pretty. Big beautiful trees at pull totally renovated. And there was a big tall fence in the backyard I. Mean, it's beautiful house really wonderful. But right behind it was a big construction yard with all these big trucks and you could hear them Dr Ram. Route. All the rumbling of the trucks and it just you know we're not gonNA. We're never going to overcome that and we're always going to be hearing it feeling that rumble if we moved into the House and I'm certain that that family did notice that and so if you are looking at your home look around to see what's inside your doors do you have beautiful? Beautiful Surroundings Jeff, Nice curb appeal usually I can almost tell you. With some certainty that I almost ninety nine percent certainty that most houses the have beautiful curb appeal have beautiful funk's.

"Cover functionally topics that can help you improve your life sure inspiring stories, and always end with three easy to implement tips that you can put to work right away and usually in about five minutes. Now, let's get started on the five minutes that could change your. Life. Hello there and welcome to this episode a five minute way see we're going to be talking about a topic the I don't really go over a whole whole lot because it just doesn't really happen that often, but it does happen and that is I. Think there are some times when People need to move the house just isn't support it for them and it's not one of those. Things that can be improved really. By moving things around because if if it were, I definitely would tell them You need to just move this here or change your bed that that way that kind of thing and It's really not something that I feel like a qualified functionally consultant recommends because getting up and moving house or changing your apartment isn't something that you do like a hand back. You know you just don't like swap your wallet out and off you go there's a whole lot involved. There's a lot of expense. It's a lot of time. It's a lot of energy and. So you know picking up and moving really it's just not something that just any old body wants to do just because. Well, you know I, don't like where the toilet is and the kitchen just not that. Great. So you don't WanNa. You know just pick up and move who does and this comes from somebody. I have moved more times than I wanna even tell you about and if I had to move I, think it would it would be the end of me right now. Especially during Cova but you know there are times when I do think it is a good idea and it is something that needs to be considered when they're certain criteria and we're GONNA be talking about those criteria today in this episode. But before we get started I just want to call out a particular listener who is a member my private facebook group the year of the rat facebook group I call them. The funkaway insiders and she is a just a dynamo, an amazing woman, a special education teacher in San Diego and just a darn nice human being a really really special woman. Her name is Susan Star Girl. That's how we're GONNA caller Susan star girl from San Diego and I just WanNa call her out because she listens to this podcast and she's also been a subscriber of mine since two thousand four now. If you don't know how long I've been publishing that has been that's my entire career. I actually started publishing the red slaughter back in two thousand and one, and so this is like the early the nascent days of when I began publishing and I just WanNa, say how special she is to me because of that I've seen her go through houses is living in in Plano Texas and then. Moving to to San Diego and and she's just a really wonderful person and I, it was really nice. Last year I went out to San Diego, and my husband had a little business to do and we decided to make kind of a long weekend of it and I invited her out to lunch and the two of us just sat and talked like we've known each other like fifteen years like we have. Anyway, it was great to be together with her. She's fabulous lady. So my hat's off to my wonderful wonderful Susan. Star girl. Thank you so much for listening and being part of my red-letter family I. SO appreciate you. Will let's start talking about when she move out because there are going be some times. When you you've just do need to move and like I said as an experienced functionally consultant I think you should have some a lot more tricks up your sleeve. You ought to have some knowledge and skills to help correct a problem So you don't want to move because your house is function perfect. Because here's the newsflash. None of them are there really are no functionally pervy Tallis's every. House has to have a bathroom somewhere. Every house has to have a kitchen or a toilet or you know a laundry room garages that kind of thing we have to have those kinds of things and we can't just have a pervert house and there's no way I want to have a house that doesn't have indoor plumbing. So I will have a toilet and I will work around it. No matter what corner it's in and here's what I can tell you. You will survive almost all houses. It is true but there are few stand out in my mind. I'm going to talk about that because I do think that you can gain from this experience and having worked with so many homeowners and seeing what their lives are like what they're experiencing it is It really gives me a wide array of understanding of various homes in and knowledge about them in there. But there are some circumstances were I do think moving is a wise idea. So. Let's just diamond in when. People, come to me a lot of times for consultation. They're they're actually fearful they. They are worried because they've heard from other consultants in fact, many times. I'm I'm the second consultant someone's talk to and and I have I I do a lot of Recovery, consultations like help pulling them back from the ledge as it were from someone who's scared the living daylights out of them and told them that their life is just going to completely unravel many times. They're afraid they've been told that they need to move out of their homes and they need to do major renovation. They're afraid I'm going to tell them that you have to move out of your house or move out of here or move this wall and that kind of thing and really. Like I said, a qualified functioning consultant really tell someone their home is hopeless with regard to funkaway hopeless for their live and in fact, good. Functionally, consultants will talk to you about your life in addition to your home. So if you have a fun Schwab Consultation Number One, make sure that somebody is asking you what is your experience living in this home? Because when a consultant does that, they're trying to understand how the house is affecting you and they will look at your life and your home at the same time because they're kind of like mirror images of each other and it gives a lot of insight to know, okay. This person's looming this kind of house and this is what's happening in their lives. Now, of course, you know a lot of people like I said earlier, worry about having a toilet in their career sector, but they're thriving professionally maybe your life is I think you're really best indicator of your functional it's not necessarily your bathrooms are located so rather. Than focusing on a functional problem area of your home. Taking stock of your life is actually.

"These are really terrific to work and to us as fillers, and then you can. You can place in some your your precious things. Lovely things like the the crystal is you can kind of Put those in there to to set those up so that they look really special and they're not all in mix, but that's a really good way to create some some filler for you know. Another thing might WanNa have is a wealth tree, and this is what we talked about just a minute ago that you can get your Chinese emporium or you can get them online. Amazon has lots of stuff like that. But just. Look online for wealthy Chinese wealth tree or something like that. I. Like having that sort of putting in the bowl and put a wealth tree down in the bottom, and you want it to be at the place where it'll look like it's it's wealth growing up from the bottom. I really love that. Now, if you wanted to use a tall glass vase, you could do that. I've seen. Seen that and it's just beautiful like a tall as that. You would put some light tall flowers in like Oh, gladiolas or something like that. I seen those types of vases that are just filled up with all kinds of great sparkly things, and then the the the tree looks like it's sprouting out of the top it just fabulous looking There are a lot of fun. So. That's certainly what you can do and then inside the Inside this. You would place your your points or diamonds and gems, and the ingots on top around that wealth tree that spouting up from the the glass beads, and the and the Gold Nugget rocks that you've got in there. It's really You're had the best time doing this I love doing these. They're always fun to do now one of the things. I recommend that you like to that you would want to do is to add like a Golden Buddha. Sometimes, you find those small mini Buddha's the happy Buddha's because he represents taking on your problems and difficulties and transforming him into happiness. He's sort of like the Santa Clause of China, and in fact, he was actually a real Buddha or a real person. Once upon a time, he was a monk and he traveled around China cared a sack. So you'll often see him sitting on top of the SAC, which can be sack a gold store like Santa. Claus. Right. He had a sack same thing with with the ho-tai Buddha, which is the the Buddha with the big belly because he represents abundance and prosperity. Prosperity and not an and not lacking for anything. So it's a really terrific symbol to have in your wealth bowl, and so he carries us this bag and you'll see you'll see little ones. You can find that are three inches, four inches, something like that, and makes a really Nice Nice addition to have the ho-tai Buddha there. The happy. Happy Buddha. Now, where do you place this This is The wealth poll is always a Gr-, well place when you put it in the sector with the six star, because that's the heavy star that we talked about earlier that has windfalls and beautiful things that come to you like people. Helpful People, Heaven people, it's also good for international travel for. Some recognition by powerful people, we all need that right. Helps us get ahead and helps us well, you know recognitions. One of the reasons why you're may be listening to this podcast is because. We're somebody told you about this podcast or you heard about it, and that's that's that heaven energy we want for you to. So this is where you always want to try to follow with your wealth bowl and place it, and this year, the wealth location or the windfall location is in the southeast. Now I, know there's been a lot of problems with money and jobs because of the pandemic, but actually one of the things that has happened in assets. Assets the southeast is the location also assets. This means accumulated money money such as investments, stocks, real estate and money that you save for retirement, that type of thing for income. So the six star is in the wealth sector of assets and income, and the stock market in which has done very well. Yes. It took some some some dives, but it has really come back. strongly. gold is also now eighteen hundred dollars an ounce as I'm I'm doing this. This podcast and it could be going up, I think the I, I'm thinking that we might see two thousand easily this year for for gold and So we WANNA place that that wealth bowl in the in the windfall, the six star location of the wealth sector this year, that's the southeast. Now, that's for twenty twenty. It's going to move again in twenty twenty one, it'll be in the center and the center is just a wonderful place to have. Have a a wealth bowl, and now if you have a bathroom in the center of Your House, you can always use the south or sees me the center of your of your living room, and the same thing is true. If you don't WanNa, if you, let's say you've got a garage in the southeast corner, Your House, will you don't want to a wealth ball out there in the garage with the the old lumber and the pain and that kind of stuff? You'RE GONNA. WanNa. Place it in the southeast corner of your living room instead because you're living room acts as like a miniature of your whole house. That's because you know we always have laundry rooms or bathrooms or garages or that kind of thing kitchens where Maybe we don't want to activate that or we can't activate it with something really pretty and. And Beautiful So you can do that in the southeast corner of your living room this year or the center of your living room next year Now, there's another thing that you can do I and I think it's actually really special is to add your Zodiac sign. If you could find like a little animal, like if you're a rabbit, you can take a. A rabbit and put put a rabbit in in your wealth bowl or whoever? Your, whatever your signs are, your family who live in the House with you can put. There's odiaun signs in there and you can even make a miniature wealth bolt, just four years old. He Exxon and put it in the Zodiac or the position of the living room where your Zodiac..

"Functionally topics that can help you improve your life, sure inspiring stories and always end with three easy to implement tips that you can put to work right away and usually in about five minutes now let's get started on the five minutes. That could change your life. Hello and welcome to a very special episode. Five minute functions way. This is all about fertility, and we're GONNA be talking about ways to improve conception. Today as the day after my thirtieth anniversary in just knowing that you know Tim and I have been married now for thirty years, and I had actually recorded on this podcast yesterday. Unfortunately, it's also mercury retrograde, and this is my second recording of this particular topic, because the first recording was unfortunately recorded on a different microphone. A camera with a microphone in that I have my regular podcast microphone and wouldn't you know? My camera microphone picked it up and I didn't check and just double double league. Be Certain that this was the correct microphone. So here you go lessons for mercury retrograde. Always check. But my my yesterday my anniversary. Brought up a lot of tender feelings about on the years, and we're all tim and I have come from what we've done in accomplished in those thirty years, and without a doubt one of the most. The most important thing that has come about has been our son, and it took US ten years of trying before he came into our lives, but ever since those little brown eyes of set their gaze online I have been pulled by the tractor beam of love. And you know it's a it's a really special thing, and I know the pain and I know the struggle of trying to get pregnant of having infertility. It's something that runs in my family and it's just not one of those things anybody. wants to go through, but it just how it worked out. But there's no question that one of the most beautiful things that you can do is have a baby. Come into your life and to have that experience of of. Share your love with this new child and it's it's an absolute. Wonderful Time. Yes, it takes a lot more focus, but gosh, it goes so fast, so you just got to enjoy every single moment well, let's talk about funkaway and pregnancy so when it comes to places that increase our odds of getting pregnant. Many of us probably think more about our doctor's office and we do our own home, but just as you would look for underlying medical reasons that might impair your for Tilleke you also want to examine your. Your home to make sure that it supports conception now from the perspective of funk sway infertility can be attributed in part to energy call. Chee on. That's maybe the key that's been blocked or stagnant. This ancient art aims to balance the energy of a place for the health and wellbeing of everyone who lives there, and was some functionally fixes I think you can create home that encourages positive energy and conception. Let's talk about the mouth of cheap now. Your front door area is the mouth for your home. Just like you have a mouth on your face, and your mouth determines how your nutrition in if your lips were sewn shut, and you just had a little space for a drinking Straw will chances are, you would be really limited in the amount of nutrition that your body can take in and assist same thing with your home when you have a front door that's blocked. Maybe you have a French a tree. Tree in front of your front door or there is a straight Arrow runway to from the street to your front door. These are all things that can kind of throw off that energy and create either rushing energy. Maybe you get pregnant and then and then lose the baby, or it stops pregnancy, so there's not any conception that can occur now. When everything is in harmony, the energy that comes into our home is called she if flows like a river. But when that environment really doesn't follow that key principle of a function that energy stalls in the result can be anything from headaches and fatigue to job troubles and infertility so to bring your home into balance. We always want start at that front door. which is that mouth of Chee, so you should be able to open up your front door and have open space in front of it. There's no no poll right there. There's not a a tree opposite the door. If a block entryway that that encourages a block of conception, so let if you do have a block such as. A tree or a pole or something? That's right opposing your front door. Then we want to put a wind. Chime on either side of the front door to help lift that energy away. That's because the main purpose of a wind chime in Funk Shwe's actually the lift energy those tubes, or like a straw, and they pull up energy and funnel it away from the House. It's really more important to have that than to have that sort of tinkling kind of sound that wind chimes. Have that so pretty? That's really why we want to put that. wind chime on either side of the door. The other thing that you can do is aimed a light at the base of the tree. You can even get those solar lights that can just put it at the base of the tree. If you have a tree, that's opposite your. Your front door. Shine it up that tree now. If you have a mirror, opposite your front door. That can also be a impediment to conception because what it does is it pushes if you can open your front door and see yourself in a mirror, it pushes conception energy right back out the door as well as money and opportunity, so we never WANNA have a mirror placed anywhere near the front door where it can push away that that precious energy of conception and it's really crucial to make sure that there's no, there's no reflection of the front door and if you're if you're you have a alongside way in Ames straight at your front door. Break that up a little bit with maybe some plantings on either side of the of the walkway, or to create something in the middle maybe a little circle in the in the middle of your of your sidewalk to help create like a little planter or just something that will help. Break up that energy, so it's not quite so straight because that can. Can really create some problems with not just getting pregnant, but staying pregnant, and that's what we want to pay. Close attention to is anything that can interrupt that that very fine energy. Let's talk about the bedroom Obviously the bedroom is always important space in funkaway..

"Think about the collars that are going to change the year if it'll bloom and seem to about adding fruit trees anything that bears so that could be nuts. That could be fruits. That could be apples or citrus. Or whatever plant grows well in your in your area. We have a home in south Texas. On the Gulf coast in it we've got citrus trees everywhere lemons grapefruits and pink naval oranges. That are just divine. They taste like a if a if somebody were to put a An Angel into a an orange. That's it would taste like it's the sweetest thing so find something that bears fruit in son. Whether like I said it's a it's a A nut or a fruit of some kind. It's even flowering trees that that bears. Its when you have a home that is surrounded by trees that are giving you something like beautiful flowers or nuts or fruits it becomes more your home becomes more abundant and that's always always a good thing all right well. I hope this is inspired you to get out into the garden and to do some landscaping and just drive through some neighborhoods. Drive through your neighborhood and look around and see if you can spot the houses with the Garden Dragon. I think you're GonNa love doing that as a little experiment. "Beneficial energies in your Zodiac sign or your bedroom or your home direction wearing real gold or silver can help you and give you an energetic boost now. Let's talk about the symbols that you can wear. You don't always have to wear things that are related to function Just having like ever saying a simple gold hoop is that round. Shape is the shape of Heaven Long long type rectangular shapes or shapes of growth. You WanNa look at shapes and make sure the only thing that you really want to avoid is anything that is very pointy or at. That has any kind of point so like for instance. I had seen one woman who was wearing a starburst type of necklace and it was a diamond this center and then it had the the raise that rate at that's sprayed out but they all kind of point up at her her neck so it's really not wasn't an auspicious sign. Personally I so think of of those types of things when you're looking for jewelry that's going to be. Enhancing is not going to be hurting you so think about anything from the infinity. Look like the eight Is An sometimes called the infinity? Sign the mystic. Not a dragon. Peacock Chinese coins or eggs I know I have some of those Russian eggs Jewelry pieces that's very auspicious. But they don't say Chinese The but the egg is a very auspicious shape. So look for shapes. That are appealing to you and that And our Attractive as well because if they're attractive they usually have great punctuate. You always want to use symbols and where symbols. That are appealing to you personally. So like for instance. When I was designing jewelry for home shopping network I wanted to create jewelry that used funkaway symbols and fresh and fashionable way. So one of the most popular pieces that I created was a necklace. A feature all four celestial creatures of the Tortoise Tiger The dragon and the Phoenix and they were all in one big collar necklace and it was a huge necklace extremely colorful and It was and it was big in the thing that was amazing as it has all four of the Cardinal Directions North East south and West are represented on that so that brings the goodness of all those directions to anyone who wears it. Sold out right there on When I was doing the The presentation there on home shopping network that morning and that was very exciting to see it. 'cause it was like one of my very first pieces. I differ them. So you want to look for items that speak to elements of functionally. So maybe that's metal or water or would or fire and An earth those are the three elements. And you're going to want to look for those elements that create beneficial for you Beneficial energy for you and one of the ways you can do that is by wearing gemstones that are suited for you by your birth element now birth elements the annual elements that take place.

"Make sure you put your dress up put on. I'm wearing earrings today. As a matter of fact white White ABALONE SHELL. Eary's think they're really pretty. They have a sort of a around per lesson. I feel like I need some heaven luck and so here. I am wearing my jewelry. I wear a watch. Where rings I wear. I wear earrings every single day. So really good for You know boosting our energy and bringing positively to us now. Let's talk about necklaces? Because these are power packed I love necklaces and I love big necklaces and as a writer and speaker. It's something that I really pay close attention to in. It's so important because it is accentuating your your throat your face and your head and this is the part of you that receives recognition recognition is so important in function. Why it's the roundabout way of money. So you can wear things do things for money and that's fine but it's really important that you looked to get recognize and wearing a necklace is a great way to do that because when you are recognized that means that someone will think of you. They'll point you out. They'll say oh you know. Carol is the perfect person for this job They will say I know I wanNA talk to Carol about such and such and they'll think of you that recognition aspect is really important so we're beautiful necklaces especially when you have something important to say. You're giving a talk anything that you're are you feel like you need to kind of Raise your your notice at work. You want to get more attention. A beautiful necklace. Necklace is a gorgeous frame is like a gorgeous frame around a painting it calls attention to. What's inside the frame while complementing the the painting at the same time? So when you find that you're lacking in recognition and notice at work where a beautiful necklace to draw positive attention eh recognition One of the things that that Kinda jumps off the page for me right now is The Deborah burks. Who's on the Corona Task Force here in the United States? And she's often speaking about the virus and she's an Works with Viruses all over the world and As a specialist in this and one of the things that you cannot not miss her because she when she's on stage at the White House and and in the press room or on Press. She wears a different scarf every single day. And that scarf like a beautiful necklace calls attention to her. It says listen to what I'm saying. Pay attention to me because I'm important and I have valuable information to impart so think about that when you're wearing a necklace and you want to make an impression you want someone to notice you. It will call that attention and recognition to you and help. Kinda raise your profile as well especially important for anybody at work right now with jobs being tentative and worrisome it can be very valuable to have a beautiful piece of jewelry or necklace or scarf around your neck to bring attention to what you're saying and your authority knows talk about another aspect of functions. I am that are functional. Jewelry is that it's protective so just like we can use functional to protect our homes..

"Of the Red Lotus letter. Funkaway easy for wealth each week all cover functional topics that can help you improve your life. Sure inspiring stories and always end with three easy to implement funkaway tips that you can put to work right away and usually in about five minutes now. Let's get started on the five minutes that could change your life. Hello and welcome to this episode of five minute funkaway. Today we're talking about clocks and their effect on us you know. There's been a lot of talk in the functionality world about whether clocks represent good functionally or not and like most things in life. The definitive answer isn't a yes or no instead. The answer is it depends. It's the exception to the rule to find an instance where a funkaway answer is black and white. It really is There is no clear answer. Except there are some clear. Do's and don'ts and we're gonNA talk about those a little bit later on right now our at home with corona virus and Cova nineteen all around the world. Everybody's kind of in sympathy with one another. It's kind of Nice. You know that were having a a worldly experienced that all our humanity can have some understanding for one another in what we're going through in one of the things about this whole cove in corona virus. Thing is that we are much more aware about time than ever. I mean think about it. We're we're we're told it's going to last this long exit GonNa peak here. It's going to do this then. And there's really no clear time line and so a lot of us are quarantined or rather stay at home orders or these are times where we are very time focused in very aware of the tick tick tick of time so we thought you know if you're at home. I know that I've heard this. My parents tell me they're in their eighties. They really feel confined because they're older in. So many people are feeling so confined right now in a very time aware looking at the clock hearing the tick tick tick that like I was saying in so I thought well what better time to talk about clocks then then now so here we go. Let's talk about The funkaway of clocks and what they mean and And some Doosan dotes for that. So as far as as clocks go many times. It's whether they're good functioning or not really relates to where they're placed now when they're place right and used properly clocks really aren't a big concern in functions way but when they're not that's when trouble begins in general though clocks really aren't considered to be auspicious in functionally because it is representative of the passage of time and when clocks oversized it represents an oversized presence of time in the passing of time and it implies death that's why these oversized clocks that are so popular on design blogs and decorating stores. They actually symbolize death and being under the gun of time. My Mom Brooker hip about a year ago and sadly I know that the rehabilitation nursing home that she was in was very beautiful. Place very nicely decorated. But it just made my skin crawl obt to tell you the truth that just I all. It was a carefully decorated. It was it was clean and all that but The people who own the the nursing home were avid hunters. So as soon as you walked in the front door. There's all these magnificent animals. I'M NOT GONNA call him trophies but there are these magnificent magnificent animals all stuff though the soon as you walk in. There's this symbols of death and I so that bothered me. You walk down the hallway and you see their dining area and they have an enormous Clark so these people can't even be impeach piece as they're eating their meal and without having to stare or eat under the gaze of this enormous clock that I'm sure someone thought was really great decorating and it's just not it was seem just cruel to me when I when I saw it now. A lot of clocks are are actually. I'm going to say they're energetic beings. They're not a being a per se but they haven't energy about them and what's interesting is. There is a lot of connection to clocks. I'll give you a story of that about it. Many clocks are known to stop when someone dies and that happened in my life. My grandmother fought with her sister. My aunt who is named for over a family heirloom clock that was given to their parents and her sister my aunt retain the clock even though their mother had given it to my grandmother and so it painfully reminded my grandmother of the loss of her parents. Every time she'd visit my aunt's home. Were this clock was prominently placed. However when my grandmother died my aunt obviously was still alive but with my grandmother died. The clock stopped at the exact time of death and it never worked again. It's really interesting. How people relate to clocks and relate to two time pieces I know. Many people have written to me about clock. Stoppages when someone's died or there's been upset I know people who only can Wear mechanical watches. That electric watches don't work for them. And so they have to use mechanical ones like the Rolex that is self winding or the type that you actually have to wind. It's fascinating to me. I find absolutely fascinating. Now when we think about funkaway it really requires balance in everything so when a clock is over sized that means there's an oversized emphasis on time. So hey o'clock like these. These big decorator clocks that you see. It made me feel more pressured to do more in the day. Feel like you can't manage your life feel like time is running away from you can even make you feel physically ill just from this pressure all the time you may find that your you have A feeling of pressure all the time and on the other hand there are times when a clock actually can do some good and handle some functions as most severe energies so for instance there are two type of illness energies that we talk about in functionally in once called the five yellow and the other is called the black too and these are a strong energies and when they're together or when you're worried about their influences a chiming or pendulum clock is one of the best ways to wear down their energy that illness energy that they project with that smooth swinging back and forth of a pendulum or clear. Chime ringing out I love pendulum clocks. They are actually some of the best ways to bring movement to a house. That's two still so that makes them a really great activator. So if you've got an old grandfather clock with the pendulum or you've got a ticking clock with the pendulum. These are great for areas. That have illness energy Like the East Corner this year in twenty twenty does it's also good for activating positive energy. Like in the north the northeast corner has a terrific energy for money and income potential for making money through classes and having a a clock chiming there can activate that that energy there. So there's some really nice ways that clocks can be beneficial in function by now. If you WANNA know more about the energies of the year be sure to check out my year of the rat article on my website. You can go there by going to Red Lotus letter dot com forward slash rat and get more details as I'm going to mention some energies In these do's and don'ts that it you might WanNa look a month and see where they are and where they fall on your home because you might want to activate or hold them down so let's talk about some clock. Dues things that you should do clocks do use a pendulum or a chiming clock to activate the six star of networking and benefactors. This can bring windfalls nice financial surprises people out of the blue. That will tell you about an opportunity. Just this is what I would call. Sort of the falling star. Wish upon a falling star just falls into your lap some good news and having a chiming clock or pendulum clock. Wherever that's located that six star in in in this year in twenty twenty it's located in the southeast corner of your home. That's the wool sector. Do use a pendulum chiming clock to activate the one star of opportunity and income this year. That star is in the North East when you have problems with illness. Financial difficulties serious serious problems. Even cancer. Things like this We want to handle those energies and M. Wear them down this year. The these are called the earth stars too in five five yellow to black. I mentioned earlier this year. The five star which is the really serious one is in the east and having a pendulum clock. There will help. Drain that energy. This the East is the star. The oldest son. It's also the star of the family. So we're going to see family disruptions. You're as we have seen This year people are losing loved ones to Cova Job Difficulties or creating crises in families. You know so we really WANNA handle that five star in the East so in the east corner of your home. This is a great place to have a pendulum or chiming clock. And it's also good in the south corner of your home where the two stars that can create problems with everything from relationships to nagging illnesses and nobody needs any illness this year. We've already got one big one on our radar and that is definitely enough. Another do is to make sure that you may that. Your clock is not over size. And that you don't get one of those big giant decorator clocks. I call them because when they will dominate your room. Very important to keep those imbalance. Remember what I was talking about earlier about. We don't WanNa feel overly pressured about time. We're already time conscious enough as it is right Do Hang clocks in hallways in living rooms or in the kitchen Keep them on the smaller side. Don't hang them up too high. Because then that means that they've got a dominance over you. You WanNa have them where they're at a reasonable height not really way high up that that could really put the pressure of time on you. Do make sure that clocks next to the bed or small and not overly bright if their electric you know. Sometimes I've stayed as a guest at a hotel or friends houses in those darn lights are so bright. And you don't sleep. That means that clock is influencing your sleep. Even you can't get rest with that clock so you want to You know look at that clock that you have next to the bed and see if it's too bright and work on that. Do make sure the clocks in the bedroom. Wake you to a pleasant sound that you enjoy chimes or birds or something like that you don't WanNa have a buzzer. That just wakes you up with start that that awful grading and now if you like that and that didn't bother you but you know what I think. It's a lot more pleasant if you could have a clock that wakes you up in a pleasant way to birds chirping or something like that and he has a lot more pleasant now. Let's talk about some clock. Don'ts don't hang a clock too close to the front door where can be viewed at the front door again. This puts pressure on time in. It's also money because the front door represents money and income and opportunity coming to you and that means that you're gonNA always be pressed for money and we don't want that so make sure that you can't see a clock from the front door. Don't hang o'clock in the dining room because this implies death and rushing to eat nobody needs to be rushing as they're enjoying a holiday dinner or maybe hopefully Cova celebration dinner. Maybe you get together with your whole family and just have a big meal together to celebrate once. It's all over but you don't WanNa clock in the in the dining room so take that out of there again. Don't hang those oversize.

"Host. Katie Weber publisher of the Red Lotus letter function easy for wealth each week all cover funkaway topics that can help you improve your life. Sure inspiring stories and always end with three easy to implement funkaway tips that you can put to work right away and usually in about five minutes. Now let's get started on the five minutes that could your life. Hello funkaway listener. Thank you so much. I really appreciate your listening in today in every week. if you've been listening for a while It's been A lot of fun to do these podcasts and to share some time with you and get your feedback. I love hearing from you. And if you are listening to five minute functionally note. I love love love to hear from. You really makes my day when I hear from somebody that you know. The layer learned something in a podcast or they heard something they hadn't heard before really makes my day so shoot me note. I'll be sure to answer back because it means a lot to me that you're listening. It means a lot to me that you take time to write so Give me a shout love to hear from you. Let's talk today about the color. Purple is a color of wealth and wealth in a variety of forms. Let's talk about how important this is in terms of functionality. Now we all know. Purple is a potent color. I mean in every society. Purple has held a special place and special meaning. It was said that Leonardo Da Vinci believed that meditating in a lavender or purple colored light was improved by factor of ten and purple has long been associated with wealth nobility stature religion piety even magic and sexuality there is a saying that which is door is often colored purple and And I don't know that I believe that but I do think that purple does convey a lot of messages to the to the to the I you know. Purple is a mixture. It's a mixture of that soothing. Calm blue with a boisterous energetic. Read that makes it. The most balanced color purple is associated and long been associated with royalty it symbolizes that power and nobility but also luxury and ambition. It Conveys Wealth and extravagance purple is also associated with wisdom in dignity independence creativity mystery and magic and in fact some seventy five percent of small children. Choose purple over every other color in that amazing A Fun fact about purple is that Cleopatra. It was her favorite color and has continued to be a color that's been associated with royalty or high honor like the Purple Heart awarded to American soldiers who were wounded or killed in war so obviously purple is very special color. It's also true in functions way In function there's one color that is suitable for any corner of your house in that color is purple. Purple is the color associated with any of the directions as a beneficial color. You can even say. It's the FUNKAWAY BEIGE. That's actually that's something. I coined. I've called purple a functionary base for a long time. But you know purple isn't always the easiest colored live with so if you have strong feelings about purple. It's it's probably better not to use it but if you think you're space will look strange with purple. Just maybe avoid purple but there's a lot of range when it comes to purple purple is Can Go from the PALEST lightest lavender. All the way to the deepest darkest inky hist Auber gene of a deep eggplant right This is a color that has a lot of life in it. So there's a lot of ways that you can use. It doesn't all have to be that that purple dinosaur that we all know when we think of Purple Purple doesn't have to be that grape jelly or the great bubblegum. You know purple really is a great wealth color. It is a color that goes so well with wealth and success. Both you think that they're different but there are you think that they're the same right wealth and success but they're actually very different well is actual accumulation of money and assets. Were a success is the ability to use those assets. Have you ever thought of it that way? Success is could be defined as when you can take whatever you want by whatever car you lie can afford the expensive clothes or the Nice hotels that kind of thing. That's success wealth is different than success. Isn't that interesting to think about that? That success is the manifestation of wealth whereas wealth is the accumulation of assets. I love to look at those fine points in functionally. I never had thought of them That way and always kind of lump them all into the same bucket. Sorta like money. Money was all in the same bucket. But there's different types of money to and Like for instance. There's income right salary the money you get in your check career From your salary from your job but there's also wealth that could be something maybe an inheritance it could be Your 401k your investments real estate holding stocks bonds all those kinds of things those are assets right that so there's a completely different types of money but it's still it's still a form of of wealth To have a job to have an income and to have assets but they're distinct ones. Think it's really important to understand those just like having wealth and having success also very different so when it comes to generating wealth chee so whether that's income or wealth assets or success. The obviously the you know the NICE CLOTHES FANCY CARS. That kind of thing forever. You want to have that extra energy no matter where that is purplish color but it is a stimulating color so it's not always a great idea to have purple in a bathroom or kitchen or even a bedroom you could use some Pale. Shades are little bits of purple but not too strong because remember. It is a combination of blue and red red is very stimulating. I think there's a saying it's a Chinese say Mayor Mayor Happiness Purple. You know something like that. And it means it's a blending a harmony of two distinct Two distinct elements fire and water. That's success and income. See see how that works. I love that I think that's such a great Distinction to know so. Let's talk about the wealth that purple can bring you. There is the wealth of recognition. Purple is an excellent color to add in the south sector of your home or living room office. This is the fame sector. This is the success and social Renown and sector. This is recognition sector in particular. It's really good if you're in a sort of a power position like if you're the principal or an owner of a business. Purple is definitely a power color so attitude a south wall for added. Prestige or to further your ambitions for fame Purple will help you get recognized. Just think about that Movie Stars they're hounded for their autographs because they have achieved a level of success that gives them recognition. Recognition is a great type of or a type of of success. Now purple also can help you.

"Sidewalk. They just go just from the curb but then they stop or there's absolutely no sidewalk or there's no path that goes to the front door and when there's no water way that home is starved or dying of thirst that pathways your waterway of income. So many times will find people that you see houses older houses that are like that and you see them just deteriorate if the house is really old this might have been fine years ago when the house was built but each year as the House ages. Anyone who lives in the house will see their finances diminish as well as health problems growing. Now how do you correct that? You've got to add a new front sidewalk and the more permanent. The sidewalk is like a poured concrete. The better it is type of walkway because it will help bring more water chee to the front door more quickly and that will mean that. Your House won't be starving anymore for energy that water flow. Remember we've got to create that now you can do some. I've seen a lot of houses recently. That are they're doing these Pathways where they have Like crushed stone or crushed granite and they have big Flagstone pavers and I will tell you that while that might look Nice architecturally it's not good functions way and the reason. Why is you want a a solid unbroken smooth path from the street or your driveway to your front door? This creates the smooth and flowing energy. So if you would imagine. The difference between a smooth will conduct water more than a broken sidewalk made of discrete. An independent pavers right. So if you're Put Water on this payers. They would just go off the sides and into the gravel or something like that so while those look really pretty in the very contemporary looking and all that good stuff. It's not good if you WANNA have more money and you want to add more income opportunities. Now let's talk about the afflicted House. Pathway now this house may have a walkway that is too small. It might be old. It can be cracked or crumbling or lifted from tree roots or something like that and that means that the quality of the Energy. That's going to the house and the opportunity and money is deteriorating to whenever a sidewalk is cracked or crumbling or broken or shifts it disrupts its ability to deliver water energy or CI to the front door cutting off income and opportunity and making the quality of opportunity and income decline over steadily over time. So we WANNA make sure that the walkway to our front door is in good condition. And that it delivers chee to our door smoothly and auspiciously. I think anyone listening to this would agree with me that when you walk up to a home and you walk on a really nice pathway to the front door there is a special feeling about that and when you see a home and you drive through neighborhood and you see homes with you know pretty winding pathways and pretty sidewalks plantings and flowers. It just is appealing and that brings that that beauty that it has beauty brings money. So when you have a beautiful home or a beautiful Sidewalk and beautiful curb. Appeal to your home even if you have a simple house if you have beautiful curb appeal and it's neat and tidy and And it's flowing and it's it looks pretty It's amazing what that can do for your life and for your home all right. Well we are here at the end of this episode as always here on my three tips always trying to make your walkways auspicious looking and attractive with plants and other landscaping elements tip number to do what you can to create smooth winding and curbing solid pathways. These delivered the most beneficial and they deliver chee the most regularly. Those broken has are not a good idea Another great tip number three is to add lighting two pathways. This encourages more Yang Energy to enter your home. It's more specials. Lighting is always auspicious. So if you want to add more Admiral Energy to your home especially if you have one of those houses where you have a sidewalk with a goes around to the side of the House and you have a side entry to your home. This is really key that you do plantings go along that sidewalk and that you add lighting that says hey ci come this way to the front door and that means hey money come this way. All right there you go. There are My suggestions for your your pathway to wealth Make sure that your your front door is a conduit for accepting money income and opportunity as well as great energy in Your Life. Have a terrific week. Thank you so much for being on five minute. Functionally and listening. I was great talking to you. Thanks for listening to five minute punctuate. "Hello it's Katy here. I hope you're having a great week. What an amazing thing I am looking at this episode is number sixty seven. I can't believe it's already So many weeks have gone by that. I I started this podcast. It's a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy listening to it. If you do see me an email I love to hear from you. I have so many people on my My private facebook page. And if if you buy my Twenty Twenty Year of the rat funkaway forecasts success. Pack if there's a gold level membership and it comes with a membership to a private facebook page where we can interact and talk with one another and I can answer your funkaway questions and we have a lot of fun. It's really great. 'cause I'd like to hear comments about the PODCASTS. A lot of fun and we have a great group Really supported loving lots of fun and we share a lot of funkaway two bids and and secrets and tips. And and just be there for each other support one another and We just have agreed. Functionally time Today I introduced a new Thursday activity which is throw out Thursday which means every Thursday. I'm challenging my Facebook group participants to Throw something out today. I threw out a sack. Full of new clues actually throw them out. I'm sitting them into threat up. They give you a free bag and you can mail it in. And they'll take your clothes and put them online and sell them for you and give you a little cash. I mean how can you not love that? It's a great deal. I have new clothes that would have been sitting in my closet. I never wore and I wasn't going to wear so This is one of those ways that you can help. Energy to move in your in your life is by Paring DOWN SO. We were doing that today. In the group it was fun. I saw people putting posts up for everything from old mattress toppers at Gotten Kinda cruddy That was Mona. She was Putting her mattress topper in there and I thought that was absolutely awesome. One woman. Tina mentioned how she threw away a two jars had to pickles each and and she doesn't wasn't GonNa have those Itty biddies in there and that's what I call those. That kind of energy is just like that shampoo bottle that you almost ignore in the shower. It's just like a little like a tablespoon left I Shan't shampoo and it but you don't use it but you don't throw the ball out either. You know what I mean. This is a perfect activity for throw away or throw out Thursday. Instead of throwback Thursday we have throwdown Thursdays. Another one of the group members Helena. was showing some decorative items that she was throwing out of her beautiful home and someone is going to be really happy with those donations and see. That's the point. Isn't it with Something like daylight that where you just take things and pitch them Whether you donate them or just they go in the trash Whatever it is you. Recycle them it's a great way to clear energy of what you don't want in your life to open up energy for what you do so with that. Let's start talking about your front pathway of wealth. Now there's a lot of emphasis and thought an energy about the front door and functionally. It's a really important in the is a key area of your home in functionally the size. The direction the color and the condition of the door all influence the occupants of the House and were the business and how successful or unsuccessful they are. But what delivers you to that front door? It's your home sidewalk or garden path when that pathway is missing or afflicted so is the quality and type of energy from your home. So that's why you want your door to be auspicious looking. You want your pathway or your sidewalk up to your front door to be auspicious looking. The pathway is another way of looking at water because water brings opportunities and income to us in funkaway. This is the type of energy that flowing energy right. Because we want money to be flowing like water right and roads and pathways in front of our home are considered water pathways so when water is running smoothly and easily this promotes the wealth and the health of the home and it's occupants and this is what makes curb appeal such an important part of building your home's functions way and also the quality of life that you lead so the appearance of your front door and front walkway instantly set a tone for the kind of energy that you haven't house and the type and quality of opportunities and income you experience it's what makes the type of walkway you have coming from the front of the House. Such an important part of creating the kind of functions way that creates a kind of life. You enjoy the most so. Let's talk about the sidewalk and pathway points and ways to improve them and improve your home. She and your wealth the first when we WANNA talk about is called the poison Arrow path. Now this is one of the most common problems with your with front sidewalk. The sidewalk is usually at the street in Will Run straight to the front door. This type of sidewalk can cause rushing chee and is often described as a poison arrow. That's because it looks straight as an Arrow right. I know you've seen those houses that have you park on the curb and you can see the sidewalk. Goes straight to the door Now when it's looked at as a waterway this is the type of Pat. That's akin to a fire hose. In other words it delivered so much water as so quickly it can be destructive. And if you've ever done any kind of Water pressure Worked with the water pressure hose. And you're cleaning sidewalks. If you get anything on on painted it'll just take the paint right off rushing. Water can create rushing energy and a poison. Arrow path delivers that energy too quickly. And that can cause problems with the sector. It's associated with in addition to creating like hostility. That's aimed at the at you if this is your kind of house so you might find that you're under under fire. People are coming at you or something or there's problems That you have to face frequently. This is compounded further. If you can see from the front door out the back door this really can cause serious accidents. Serious health and financial difficulties even bankruptcy even broken bones and serious accidents Now this is actually something to happen. with my husband we were renting a house that had a sidewalk. That was straight and then you open the front door and it you can see straight out the house and this was a vacation rental in Hawaii and I bet it wasn't about twenty eight hours after we got in there. He was on the beach and ended up breaking his leg shattered his leg. As a matter of fact and this was in the sector of the East. The front door was in the east. Which is the sector of the foot and leg anyhow? He lost his footing on in a SAM pocket and he ended up shattering his leg. So it was a really. This is a very Drastic example but it is something that can happen so if If you have a south facing house and you've got one of those poison. Arrow pass This could create. I damage can create heart attacks. Things like that so You really really want to Take those That straight rushing energy kind of seriously. So let's talk about how you correct that right so we wanna do things to soften that sidewalk and like plantings You can create You can take out the Center. Section of the sidewalk at a circular area or make create circular beds. You could create a little sidewalk. That goes out on a circle like on a path and then put like an earn a pot of flowers or something in the center. You'll you can come up with some ideas that will look a attractive in that will will At your curb appeal. We don't want to put something in there. That looks goofy because then that would take away. Curb appeal but you can run planting beds alongside. Oh and maybe some stones or something but what I would do is try to break up that straight shot and by making some kind of Sidewalk that that is in the middle that interrupts that maybe the Abed Planting bed or something like that would be helpful that you have to go around. Maybe you have a water fountain there. Let's talk about the starving house. Now this is a house at starred for money and income now many times. This is something that we see with pathways or sidewalks In that or homes. That are older that they maybe have a partial.

They're really light hearted Really most truly wealthy people have lots of fun and enjoyment alive mostly because they can afford it. What is it Money doesn't buy happiness but you can buy a yacht and pull up next to it. I'm a big believer in that. You know that when you're very serious or you're always looking at the negative side of life you know that energy of money isn't going to come to you. It's going to be harder. It's going to be a slog instead of joyful and When we approach life in it in a more joyful manner I think life approaches us in a more joyful manner. But that's not the only reason why I mean. Every time we have pleasant and enjoyable times in our house we build our happiness energy and this kind of Energy Creates Shane. Chee and this is called. You know even simple things like playing games with your family Fills your home with laughter. One of our family favorite games is called guest yours and is like guest and then T. U. R. E. S. It's SORTA like charades ton of fun. Gosh every time we break that out we laugh and laugh and have the best time You know and and try making a family meal and put it in the formal dining room on Saturday or Sunday nights as a weekly treat you know so often if you have a formal dining room it just gets ignored except for you know a couple of special holidays you know and and and you know that that really should be used. I I believe I think it says hey even a simple Sunday night. Dinner is a special time with your family. I'm a big believer in that. I I really do. I think it makes a big difference. You know all these things when you use your dining room regularly and you treat your meals even your everyday meals a special and you're just In your family having them over for a special meal even when it's not a holiday that raises the energy of your home and and and speaking of your home I think about how you can live in up your inner home which is yourself you wanna live in yourself up. A friend of mine once joked that she had enough black clothes in her closet to outfit eight women for a funeral and it's true and You know we love. Our black clothes have really tried to move away from that in the black section of my closet gotten smaller and smaller every year. And I've found that you know can bring extra energy to yourself and lift your personal cheap. By wearing bright and vivid colors The colors imbue us with their energy Like on days that I wanna be extra productive or energetic. I'll wear Brown slacks like Bigwood with a red shirt which is fire because bigwood makes big fire Now if money's on your mind wear black pants and a green shirt maybe you want to get everyone to to Get along as far happiness.
