"And to slide back into stuff that we don't want to be in life. You know, it'll be great if we could go two steps forward zero steps back. Yeah, you know, yeah, it would it would yeah, I mean cuz honestly this isn't to support this is five steps for it, but it's okay. It's not like let's just keep going forward. Yeah. Yeah, even if it's just another half-step. Yeah, you know, yeah, I want to pull up. I know we've kind of reached the end of of the points that we had more scripted. I scripted remember like a fancy dinner. These would be very scripted remarks. I stumbled on a podcast podcast I stumbled upon long as I was doomed scrolling Twitter last night. Yeah stumbled across this this once we buy renew some bass. Yes that I just feel like was wage. I needed it when I found it. And and so I want to share it with you now with regard to just the election and and and in the field, especially the feeling of like, oh my gosh, we live with so many tens of thousands of people who still want more of trump and that feels horrible and bad, you know, not the best not the best and here's what she this is the actually the middle of one of her Twitter threats, but this particular home this particular tweet in the middle of thread was was really poignant to me and she says the election meaning this one isn't isn't close. It was a closed in 2016 and it's not clogged now, it's closed in quotes because of the outdated Electoral College. Yeah, the majority the majority of Americans reject Trump by millions. Yeah and is under-represented of Congress, especially in the Senate and has their vote vote discounted in current formation of of the Supreme Court. Yeah, and it was really important for me to hear in fact that it feels closed because the system job Are rigged against the majority. Yeah, and that like it's important to remember that like this wouldn't if we had a national popular vote. This wouldn't be anything close to close. Nobody would describe this is being closed. Yeah, right. That's right. Three million plus votes of part is not closed. If the senate had more equal representation, you know in terms of like between states. Yeah God this wouldn't be that that this would be an issue. Then that would be an issue would be closed at all. And I think it's reassuring just from the perspective of the neighbors we live with. Yeah, there's tens of millions of them are still like yeah this this this city, it's my guy. Yeah, but there are way more of us there still are way more of us who are like know. Yeah. That's right and have been this right like happened between the screen million gap is about the same as in 2016 like that. It hasn't grown more as a pollen, you know, I mean, but but it's still a huge huge gap. So be cheered people. Yeah your name Out of the right and the good the work continues and you know, we have recorded this podcast with the with that the idea that we believe that the presidential election will go to buy then we think that things are pointing in that direction. I keep I keep thinking people we trust we've heard like on E on emails that we get saying the same thing. So it's not like we're prognosticating ourselves here. We are just to be clear not election prognosticator know we're not we just have people whom we trust and they have been saying that they feel confident. So, you know knock knock on wood, you know, I remember like a week ago. I think it's the middle of some of our volunteering that we've been that we've been doing. Yeah, and I had this moment where I was sort of like imagining what election results coming in with my life you like and and I had a moment where I like allowed myself down like writing like Shannon Biden get a heart gross know. I I was imagining like wage Know what it would be like if you know, we got the kind of big win that that I was hoping for and I I was so allowing myself to feel that in in a real enough way that I could feel tears welling up, you know, this is so Earnest. Oh my gosh, I love this so much. It's just me and you know, I love it. You're the best but I I had this moment and and so I've been thinking since then like, oh gosh, I feel like life is this part of me that that really wants this a release that kind of like tearful release. Yeah. I'm a big victory where I know that Trump's not going to be in our president anymore. And I want to like I want that I want to cry about yeah, I want to feel relief. Yeah and I am I haven't felt like crying right since you know, even even with the the results that we think are going in the right direction. I'm not getting that emotional release really dead. That I had hoped for our thought that I might experience not yet. I wonder if when it's called, even if it's close margin, you will get that. I don't know. I don't know. I've been thinking about that. I don't know home. I don't feel you. Did your little fantasy scenarios was a very squeaker win one of them. Again, it was just a fleeting moment. You know, I but I want you know, I don't know. I don't know if my emotions aren't feeling that close to the surface. Yeah, you know, if we if we get a notification on our phone 5 minutes from now that you know, Arizona and Nevada have come in and they're providing it's over. I don't know that I'm feeling that that I'm on that edge anymore. But I think it's it's indicative ever see it's indicative of all that we've been talking about here tonight like that that big release wind didn't happen Okay, so it didn't so I still have I still have all this stuff inside all this emotion inside and that's okay. Maybe I can use that money to put myself to work to continue. Yeah with what's next. Yeah. I'm excited to start like visualizing what what snacks looks like. Yeah, you know in terms of ongoing work with, you know, I have this idea that if we just did two hours a week you each of us you and me and anyone listen to this 2 hours a week. Just pick a day. Maybe it's maybe if you have a day job, maybe just like maybe when Thursday evenings from like 7 to 9. He just do a thing each week, you know or Sunday afternoon. I don't know or maybe for you and me it would be like Tuesday afternoon. What's the thing? That's it. I don't know what the thing is, but I'm wondering how to figure that out and then how to organize that in a larger way, you know to make like two hours a week. Do you sing? How about to start with how about everyone who's listening to this podcast? Just make a little put a pin in that forum for me. Okay, make a little place in your heart for the idea that maybe we'll give ourselves a little bit of time off a month a couple months. Whatever may be starting the beginning of 2021 get through the holidays get through this cursed inauguration that may be great the pre-inauguration, right and then like once once everything is just stable right really start to look at what that looks like. So to set aside this two hours a week for many people, you know, and I'm going to ask you about those and like maybe 3 months 2 and 1/2 months. Okay. Let's just figure out what that it looks like then and how we can be productive. Yes, cuz if we had fifty a hundred a thousand ten years. Thousand people imagine if eventually there were like a million people doing just two hours a week each. I'd be 2 million hours of like volunteer work a week have to figure out where that could go with the structural energy would be proud. Yeah. I think that's a great idea. Can I amend your I'm going to check in with you in three months and say we'll check in and like a month and half so that we can do work to to help that runoff senate seat in Georgia. Oh, yeah. Yeah cool. Mom high five. Oh, yeah. Good. All right. Hey people. Thank you so much for listening. Yeah. This has been another scintillating episode of The Misfits Stars cast. It has yeah North East insulated will be personally yet, but I don't know people seriously. Thank you for spending time with us. It means a lot of you know, we're just processing this stuff in real time. We hope that I mean you heard it like this is not edited right this episode is not edited at all and it's raw it's real wage. "Activities are dead. I love that. We have adult activities don't poop on my earnestness. You know, we have so many Earnest people in The Misfits don't I'm right there with you. Okay, then yeah. I feel like you're poking fun. I am absolutely not. Fine. I'm just sort of celebrating it. Okay, because it's a given who I was when I was young very off-brand for me. All right, I embrace it and I love it. All right. Activities seem to be fair your brand when you were young probably if you'd stuck with that, you might not even be here anymore. So no, you know true. I'm glad to be here for the adult activities. Awesome. Okay. Well, that's that's the only announcement of the week and let's move onto feelings. I am excited about that Jamie. How you feeling? Oh, yeah. I'm excited about that. Yeah, I'm feeling stable and I'll write a pretty good honestly. Like I don't little bit Saucy right? I feel which is good writing dealing somber at all. Right. I feel definitely have it in me to make a joke. And that's great happy about that. It could have not been the case today. Yeah, so, oh gosh, it could things could have gone way worse off as of this moment that were recording is precisely 8 p.m. Now on the west coast Wednesday, November 4th, you know, it's looking really good for four button. It's looking like pretty probably he's off to do this like it's going to take some time ago seemed to be counted but there's enough stuff in at this point that is pretty clear where things are going. It does appear that way. So, you know, that is a huge huge. Huge relief and I feel good about it, you know and I'll take it. I'm just I feel relieved I feel happy didn't get everything I wanted but when in life do you you know, right and that's K. That's totally fine. How are you feeling? Yeah, and we're going to get more detailed into those feelings in a minute. You know, I today have felt mostly okay with a little you know, probably a little deflated is not the word. I was really hoping for for a big satisfying repudiation. We're going to get to this in a minute. I don't want to get too much into it and not getting the big release that I was hoping for. Yeah, you know, like you can probably just segue smoothly here. Okay next trip, but you know, I I feel I'm trying to concentrate on on like how am I actually feeling? Yeah, you know, I'd so I feel in that way maybe somewhat deflated is not the right word just a little pig. Yeah, you know and I and I do have some lingering concerns, you know for me. I think that it's it's just another opportunity to remain in the present moment and not get to wrap without. You know, what's to come cuz I can't control it. I have done literally everything I could do to be part of the outcome. Yeah, you know and and and and in that regard, I feel great. Yeah, I feel like I feel like I left everything on the field and and I can feel really good about that. You know that that's contributing to good feelings inside me. Yeah. So mostly I'm all right. I mostly I'm all right. I'm I'm steady. Yeah, and I'll take it awesome. So you're right. It was not the repudiation. We were hoping for yeah, I mean if you listen to this podcast the the part A of this week's podcast, we put out a couple days ago. You heard us say the thing we were really hoping for was a big fat just knock it out of the park. He'll know America doesn't want Trump as of any more World historic margins the whole thing. Didn't happen. Like we don't yeah, that's not that's not how it looked. We didn't have the big overwhelming Landslide with enough votes coming in on Election night to give us that answer but you know, and we won't you know, even if we have you know, even even if we witness that are still outstanding it's only at this point going to be a few hundred thousand more votes separating the two things. So except for you know, I will dispute that a little bit because I think that there are there is a path to Faith Like if you look at the electoral map for instance where it could end up, you know, looking a whole look at it could end up in the end the end of all this looking a lot more of like a big repudiation type vote. Then it does right now friends only want to look at it. If you're talking Electoral College yet. You're absolutely right about that because the peculiarities of that right but like the way the votes are dead. Right now like we're within a couple hundred thousand votes of all the votes everywhere being counted, right? Okay and and Biden Trump or about 3 million votes apart, which is roughly what Hillary Clinton? Yeah, that's right. And so say that say that every single vote that remains goes for Biden. Will it be will be at 3 and a quarter million votes separating the two right if we were hoping for 15, but like that's what it said. I didn't have hopes for that. I I knew that was not going to 5:10. I mean tribalism Network here is way too deep like people who people people who could live through the last four years and even pre pandemic If people could have watched lived through three the first three years of the Trump presidency and still been like say yeah, he's my guy with just the criminal activity the corruption the inability disinterest in doing the job. Like they're sold out to a cult. It's not there's no there's no convincing. Was not convinced. I was not at anywhere close to thinking we were going to pick up, you know, fifteen million kind of you know, vote. Margin. Yeah, we were hoping for that. Right? We were hoping for a repudiation. Well, let me ask you what would your patient of looks like to you at the margin? I'm not even I'm not even sure I haven't a number in mind in terms of millions of votes separating the two for the to answer that question repudiation for me would have meant home, you know, the kinds of returns that would have given us a big, you know a big enough margin on Election night to be able to declare, you know a victory sure and also clear path to winning the Senate back right those those two things would have been to me the signs that you know, okay. We're we're all done with this, you know, but but clearly we're not all done with this song there. There is a large swath of the American population who has seen the job. This guy has done for four years in his still like yeah, he's still my guy. It's not even that it's yeah give me more of the wage. Right. I think there's maybe a better way to frame it. Why wouldn't why on Earth? Would you look as regardless of whether he's your guy? Why the fuck would you want more of this? So I guess like no one's feeling good right now. You know what? I mean? It's not like I'm feeling good right now either everything sucks, right everything sucks for everybody and it's directly cuz of this guy, you know what? I mean? He's definitely blaming it on Democrats. You know what I mean? Cuz he's played, you know, the two sides against the middle and that and when his position as a smart thing to do, but it's not like it's not like the Republicans. It's not like it's not like only Democrats are visible right now and Republicans are like yeah things were totally great. That's not the case at all. That's how it wasn't 29,000 Democrats or Republicans like at this rocks. No one in twenty-twenty where you are ideologically.

It's really locked down and it's just for people who are supporting members only get an invitation homes. Become a supporting member. Yes Stars, which someone just did a few days ago and now she's in yeah, it was great. And especially in this time. There's extraordinary election time this culmination of this really messed up year this messed up for years like it is such a great time to have that private group. Oh my gosh, people are taking care of each other and wonderful, you know you and I have been doing a ton of election volunteering and we'll talk more about that in a little bit here. But over the last few days, especially our schedule was slammed. Yeah with election volunteering every once in a while. I would get like a half a second two-goal pop in to Facebook and check in on the Misfits our age group and I was seeing that people were posting about okay, here's how I'm feeling today. And and for a minute I was like, oh my gosh, I don't really have the time to respond to all of people's choice, but then I was relieved to see that other folks in the Misfits are they were taking care of each other there, you know the group it's not it's not centralized around you and me no choice. Life of its own group of people who is showing up for each other and new and beautiful ways all the time and I am just I feel so encouraged and I love love love love that Community. Yep so much and you've let yourself into it people Misfit stars.com joint what else you could leave a review on Apple podcasts does I don't ever do that. Thank you. Thank you people have done that and make it five stars. Why would not do that? Because I'd come on give us all stars James people. We are the Misfits star. Yeah, when he was nice, we could give us five Misfit Stars review. That's corny. Wow, I tell you whether I'm corny announcements announcements announcements. Oh heck. Yeah some feature now, I think it's the announcements. You know that song from science camp. I love it. I'm so happy to hear it. Yes, down squash one announcement. What is it? We have one announcement. The one announcement is specifically for our Misfit Stars supporting members. Everybody else. Don't listen now. You have to tune out. No, actually you can listen song. And be convinced this is another reason why you should join Misfit Stars. Yes, but for a Misfits are supporting members check it out. Now that our our our virtual House Concert Tour is over home and our schedule has gotten less dedicated to that first. Yep. We now have had the opportunity to explore new ways to to hang out with y'all and be part of each other's lives on a regular basis besides just in that Facebook group. Yeah, and so interface face-to-face don't even know what that's from. I just maybe made it up. Anyway, if whatever it is from the 80s also whether it exists, it's from the eighties. Oh, I know I notice from I was thinking of here we are face to face a couple of Silver Spoons wage. Wow, open and find well Two of a Kind making it go make it grow together. We're gonna find out whey. Wow, Together making the time each day. There's more to the song but I thought was wonderful to bore you think anyone was bored at home. Probably stop recording right now. We're never going to do anything better than that. In fact, everybody my sister and I used to spend, you know, you know kinda car ride games in your kid sure seemed like Flames play Counting and stuff sometimes when you're an adult to yeah my sister and I when we were kids our favorite card game was too I'm sure my parents love this who was too young at the top of our lungs as many TV show theme songs as we could. Wow. We knew all of them are both good singer, so maybe it was tolerable of them. So that was a silver spoon song. Yes. I still have it completely memorised. That's wonderful. I bet that was maybe kind of joyous. I don't know. It seems like it's good. Either way. It could be really joyous or only really joyous in a movie song. Never in real life the first time. I'm sure it was totally joyous but imagining my mom like 25 times and be like, oh my gosh. Yeah, right, you know, so I don't know how jasker but that's that's amazing. The whole point of this was the words face-to-face. Yes face to this Stars meeting face-to-face. So here's we're going to do say mister V to kind of go with no. I just misspoke is all I missed home folk lore going to start doing this month is we're going to start doing monthly Misfit Stars Zoom meet up wall for all of our best foot Starz members who want to them and us and us and be there. It's not going to be centered on any like music related stuff. It's just a hang out. We've got some plans for some of the kinds of discussions who want to lead stuff we want to, you know, just walk, you know prompts to get us all talking with each other getting to know each other more being a support and encouragement to each other. That's what this group is all about. I'm super excited about this and so here's the deal. If you were a misfit Stars supporting member sometime the next handful of days, I am do this as soon as possible. Now that election work is done within the next week. It isn't exactly. Well. We'll get to that page in the next handful of days. I'm going to be sending you out a link to a survey where you can you're going to fill out like the days and times of the week would be best for you for this kind of a zoom meet up and we will do our best to try to find a time that works best with the most number of people who respond to the survey who are interested in doing meetups. We've got you know, East Coast West Coast and everywhere in between any an overseas. Well, so, you know, we're just going to have to stay up late. You always does for us. Thank you Karen. I know right? But we're going to do our best to find a time and a day that works best for for most people and we might shift it around four months amount to make it easier for some people, you know in different times. We'll we'll see how it all shakes out. But I'm super excited for them to me that do we have the best adult activities or what come for the surveys stay for the conversation prompts. What are you talking about? It just saying if like if I were like ten years old and listen to the side. This sounds horrible. Oh, my goodness is literally literally sounds like the worst thing I've ever heard. Tell me about forty eight year old use thinks about it. I'm pleased. I'm on board. Okay good. That's my point. All right an adult activity. Well sure God. Yes. It's going to be great. I'm really excited. I think I'm excited too. I think you are too. Yeah, Jamie. Yeah. I'm just saying they're adult.

"For Todd the answer on the air and hopefully his answer stops you from becoming one of his next real life stories so Todd speaking to giving things away you have a whole section of this trust that deals with Yuri vocables I was a lifetime access trust that's a mouthful the I. slap right call it a slap the slats okay so we have the slats we don't talk about them very often on the show so maybe you can educate us as to what they are who should consider using the benefits and so forth it's funny because I oftentimes get in we've actually done a whole guide on differences between revoke herbal in your vocal crafts and lots of times the irrevocable one of the year vocal trust in that guide is our Medicaid income only trust but also one of the irrevocable trust in that guide is a spouse a lifetime access trust now what are these folks in and how do they work well they're probably going to be used for people with higher net worth okay generally right because remember if you're in a lower net worth area when I say lower me I don't really have to be able to put a number on it but certainly folks in the two three million dollar range are not don't have don't have to quickly giveaway assets to reduce taxes okay we can keep our stuff and and actually be better off and have better tax savings then giving it away okay so it's not that giving is bad or good it's it's one does that make sense and so the spousal lifetime access trusts are for folks that have larger estates when I say number on there yeah let's take let's say ten million okay and I say ten million because remember the federal exemption albeit eleven million and change now is scheduled to come back down and I think the firm thinks that it will come back down way sooner than twenty twenty six okay but in twenty twenty six it's scheduled to fall back to around six million ash okay five and a half million six million somewhere in there wow you mean we could lose five million dollars of our exemption just because the law changed yeah well may be losing that exemption is not a good idea if I can gift stuff away while I have the exemption maybe I should do that right and that sounds great because I'm getting again larger states right I have a you know twelve ten twelve million dollars state and it comes back down to six million I could be in a taxable arena even with her ending so certainly anything north of that you all should be listening and then the question becomes well and we've done this right we say okay well let's help these people before the law changes we did this and add to think twenty twelve as well yeah and then when I come to the table they say yeah yeah we want to we want to you know shelter asset size okay we're gonna give away you know five million dollars yeah doesn't feel good now doesn't feel so good anymore because you know I really don't want to give away five million dollars if I can't enjoy it by five million to my kids why I know but the rule is in order to make a completed gift and get it out of your state you have to not retain any right to enjoy it uhhuh or controlling okay so I get that but I don't want that I want to enjoy it so if you're married which is why they're called spousal lifetime access trust so that's not gonna work so well for single people you can have your wife set up a trust then you set up a trust so if I set up a trust I will give stuff into it it is irrevocable and out of my state and I have no right to it but my wife's trustee and she has the ability to make distributions out to her and the kids in the trustees discretion so you mean if my wife takes money out of that trust and wants to take me out to dinner she could do that yeah hi late signs like giant loophole look like I can kind of enjoy what's in there just not directly have to feel stays they married with my wife and that's good and vice a versa now they can't be exactly the same so as not to run afoul of what we call the reciprocal trust doctrine rule I'm not gonna get into that these how to make them a little bit different so they're not exactly the same but the concepts are the same okay so I would enjoy stuff in her trust you would enjoy stuff in my trust in together will enjoy the stuff we gave away and it goes out of your taxable estate as a result right because that stuff I put in my trust I have no right to so it's absolutely out of my state and since my wife didn't give anything to my trust she can enjoy it and not have it included in her state right because remember you have to give and receive she didn't give sell a beautiful arrangement in its and that's really what those trucks are designed to do but again you got a really read the guy because you've got to think about if if we're gonna do the gifting then we need to think about what kind of assets we should gift where it makes sense of their again keeping in mind the step up in basis rules and not creating larger capital gains tax here highly appreciating assets might be a good idea what I'm getting out of my state I hope grows really fast there's a lot to consider folks you got to get a copy this guide whether you are high net worth and would like to reduce their taxable estate that you have or if you're sitting there thinking I'm just going to give my house to my kid do not do anything until you read this guide because they are income tax estate.

"And I guess that is a, a starting point on also twenty five million dollar downpayment our payment, a note of that happened. So that died on the vine, I'm we seem to be at the same juncture here with Newcastle United, but some new fans have been basically they've been in the pub. I'm trying to I've been trying to figure out how do. Let's say this goes through are they reacting as they just won the lottery. Oh, absolutely. They're reacting to this point. And this from the chronicle the paper of record in Newcastle over three hundred Newcastle. United fans have put money on a title win after takeover rumors according to bet Fred. So this has been greeted universally with, with joy, not I wouldn't say university, there's a lot of Newcastle fans who are very much working class organization, and while they have not enjoyed Mike Ashley's ownership. They are a little bit worried or skeptical about royalty in the form of shake taking over their beloved club and others are just absolutely ecstatic and cassia return to the days of Kevin, Keegan when they were challenging for the primary. Now, I don't know. It's Manchester City could be stripped away of their little engine that could status and turned into what they are today than certainly it can happen. Yes, that's the prize to me. Yep. That's what the sports mail the Daily Mail reported, and they, they were privy to emails so that is very, very interesting. And again, for me, it brings the same kind of conflict distorting power of money in the game. What will this do to the Premier League? It also brings in ethical issues about having this ruling family involved in a country from country that has a pretty terrible human rights record dealer site to it is, well, a lot of the look not to cut you off. But a lot of those things like the ship has sailed in terms of money coming in. Doing business with countries that have human rights records like that doesn't mean you don't ask questions are off. And this one, I find interesting again because of the managerial question for so much of the season, it seemed like Chelsea supporters one in where it's yo. Sorry gone. On this one it stops this, this will serve as kind of an appetizer into what will discuss when we get to our what to watch for. But the question is JJ how different might Chelsea look next season. And this one, I find interesting again because of the managerial question for so much of the season, it seemed like Chelsea supporters one in where it's yo. Sorry gone. Now, he may deliver them a top four finish which he did. And perhaps a trophy in Europe and they still want him gone. And but, but he may I mean, the shoe may now be on the other foot..

"To thirty five million metric tons annually. Yes. One hundred fold increase. Yes. To get to that point. How big is an investment. That number says, you know, like if you did it in all the places you could that would be profitable. According to our model, you would end up with an amount about that much. But that's where then the decision making in the in the policy aspects of this type of thing. But it shows you just how big that opportunity is in the Caribbean. All kinds of fish would be oh, so Armato looked at Kobe. And right now there is the largest offshore aquaculture farm in the world. I believe at sixteen miles off the coast of Panama, and they are farming Kobe. So they're kind of been pioneers with this species in this method. And that's that's what we specifically looked at in our study, but are studied could certainly be applied to other species. But this would be putting big cages out cages. Submersible cages, stocking them with fish. You would have to have a hatchery where Fisher being produced and transferring them out offshore to these large cages, and that's market is a fish that people want to say it is it profitable. It is it's gaining a lot of popularity. It's a white fish. It's very delicious. And I believe open blue the farm in Panama is currently selling an exporting their Kobe to the US market could this paint on elsewhere small? I believe it could. And there's another researcher here at UCSB who looked at this on a global scale and she had similar results global production potential for aquaculture is huge. It was somewhere on the order of point zero zero one percent of the world's oceans. And I think the smaller than that is all that would be required to produce the amount of seafood, we currently get from capture fisheries what about impacts down the road that presumably is an of is one of the major benefits of offshore aquaculture is that it's located away from a lot of the shallower sensitive habitats that have traditionally been heavily impacted by coastal aquaculture. So the nutrients are offshore. They're not near coral reefs or seagrass, and it's ideal in areas where there's a little bit of a current. And so the nutrients and waste from the farm is being pushed away in kind of dispersed in the larger ocean. And so you talk about a different kind of agriculture from that, which is called a bit of a bad reputation. Yes, there's always going to be impacts associated with this type of farming both on land or in the ocean and offshore is a way to mid. Negate a lot of those impacts that we've seen with coastal aquaculture that has earned aquaculture a bit of a bad reputation over the years and rightly so in a lot of cases in the water regulations in countries, like Norway are very closely monitoring these farms really closely monitor what goes in and what comes out, but it's a one solution in what should be a portfolio of ways that we can produce seafood Tarlac, Lavelle and Lennon.
