"Given some of the jobs that he's had in the postseason And also the fact that he has no rings right now but he's just such a remarkable talent and one of the players one of the defining players of his generation. So i just want us. I just wanted to oppose us. Take this opportunity to pose his name and kind of jutted into this conversation. And just what do you think about about james at potentially being a top ten player. I'm i'm of armagh flip. This went on you and make you draw for i. I'm gonna take another rocket in the top ten before i take him and it's going to be akeem Because we're gonna we're gonna be talking about somebody that's won two championships who was illegally. Be as many times as hard and was in an era that maybe not in the years that they won the championship. Was you know. i don't know if you more difficult. Because obviously the you know harden had a pretty rough dynasty he had to go up against as well but You know someone that was maybe the most gifted just kind of like athletic person. I'm sure bill. Russell would argue against that but like just so. Graceful defensively was a defensive player of the year and mvp in the same season. Which jaanus did that. And other than him and michael nobody else has so just more balanced and harden was and i think the challenge that hardened would have at among our generation i think as we get further removed from that people will be less likely to know this about him. A lot of people argue that like harden was not compelling to watch from the standpoint of you know that they felt like he was essentially kind of cheating in the margins as far as trying to draw contact in an unnatural way trying to trick referees calling fouls he will not be the first guy to do. That would be the first guy on that list to do that. You know there are other guys that if luke becomes a top ten player okay. Luca complains a lot and luca flop occasionally and so some of these other guys. So whatever Should it matter. No i think these are guys that know how to make better use of the rules the better use of the loopholes. Or what have you but yeah as we were talking about that. And as he started mentioning hardness. I started thinking about houston. I was like man. I completely forgot that. I would make some arguments that i think you could make an argument that came as the best the best center of all time. I don't know that would agree with it. But i think you could make the argument. You could certainly make diagnoses like the most balanced superstar of all time. You can make that out here. That out as well so i would probably put him in the top ten before i would have hard in there and honestly i think i actually haven't been my top ten in place of you know like as my katie and stephan. Those guys i would have. I think that those are the guys have a little bit more approved before our put them ahead of acute. Maybe not katie. Maybe i'd have katie. Had a lajoie on bellagio. I'll be right there so good. So akeem ben simmons. These are these are guys that you're thrown in your top. Ten right..

"In-duct someone that for whatever reason didn't make it during their own era but then they brought in is like a like an old timer sort of hall of famer step is probably a good example of someone like even if you don't have him as a top ten guy you kinda put him in your honorary top ten because you do recognize that. Like no one's ever been as good as steph. Is it what he does. And that whether or not you like hammer. The way plays or if like he's hurt the game You have a whole generation of people that are now going to play the game a certain way because of how he played it so i would probably put him in my top ten. Maybe not everybody would. But i would probably either. I would either put him in my top ten or he would be on the cusp and have a chance of getting their aside from what you just said about john. Luka will have a chance know. I do think playoff series pretty soon whether he gets better teammates or not You know it's very hard to be in that conversation when you don't have postseason success but i think it's probably you know if he wins another. Mvp it's it's very rarefied air anywhere where he's at certainly for twenty six but he wants another. Mvp that gap gets a lot smaller very quickly and You know it'll be one of the things we look up and you look at everything is accomplished. Said oh wow. How can we not have them in that kind of the same way that i think you have to do with katie. Quite frankly i think all the names that i mentioned could be I dunno if luca too soon Not included him in this. I feel like l. Now he's already two time first team all nba player I don't know. I feel like he should be even though he has not won a playoff series yet but assuming Things go right for him His career will be absolutely ridiculous. So yeah but. I think that katy stephanie. Honest are on a different level. The other names that i have here. I don't know if they have the potential. But anthony davis does he have potential to be top ten all time to think like i struggle with allen. I'll tell you why to it's part of that is actually what i was. Just saying about luca where it a certain point. It's very rare that you get someone that is. Just you can make the hall of fame without some of the postseason success and stuff like that but i think i can't point to anybody that was in the you know that i would have in my top ten or anywhere near my top ten. That wasn't winning in the playoffs and wasn't at least putting a threat in everybody to make the you know the championship the finals round and stuff like that all those guys did and even a lot of the guys that are just outside that conversation. I don't think most people would have malone for instance in their top ten of all time but he and stockton were regularly right but like those guys were regularly right on the cusp of winning a championship. So luca like i. I'm not saying that he won't be in the top ten. Because i'm saying if he were to have this sort of career and i mean he's a lot of records somewhat pointed out he's already like basically a top ten score of all time for the mavs and he's only been playing for a couple of years and i was like that's insane because the maps have a lot of guys that have accomplished a lot and basketball..

"No i think they all do. I think some are closer than others. Think look we're going to have a tough conversation at some point or not depending on who it is about. I think clearly is is really the toughest one to really peg here because look our society at this point at least guys our age a little bit younger. Maybe a little bit older seem to care more about the rings part of it. But we're we're used to seeing people when rings pretty organic sets katy kind of broke that mold entirely. I mean you could argue that. Lebron did to some extent to katie really. Broke it with what he did. And i mean if he wins with brooklyn with the way. They've kind of arranged that team granted he went there with kyri which was not something that was like a guaranteed championship but then they've added hardin side. I don't know maybe it won't be viewed and like you know there's like a with it necessarily but his championship will have been wanted a slightly different fashion than some other people's. But i also think that you could make the argument will probably walk away from this era saying that he was the greatest score of lived in an era where like scoring just exploded and when skills are at an all time high in the nba. So how you would keep somebody like that out of the conversation when he will have theoretically will have. Let's let's say brooklyn wins two more titles. Let's say they went three titles or the katie somehow windstream more titles whether it's with brooklyn whether you move somewhere else if this dude has four or five titles and really could have had another hit. He not torn an achilles. Maybe we don't know So he would have the rings he would have all sorts of scoring accolades and stuff like that and he would have like more skill maybe scoring skill than anybody ever like. How are you not having him in the conversation for top five top six now quite frankly let alone like once. He's done with his career just based on kind of what he's accomplished so and you know his gotten to be a much better defensive player. I don't think anyone looks forward to having to go against defensively. You guys really really well rounded from that standpoint so katie probably is already in that conversation as far as i'm concerned whether everybody feels that way or not. I'm not sure. I think you and i are more in line in terms of thinking that already I don't have. Kobe is a top ten. All time i just don't incredibly incredibly skilled. You know someone that looked the part of jordan. I don't think quite was dare you know as far as jordan necessarily but is the closest thing we've seen to him as far as just the way he played the game I don't i already like. I probably have them just outside of that conversation. Quite frankly i think dunkin was buying think shock. I would probably have in that conversation to. I think step is the the next one for sure that you at least have in that range where you wonder. How much higher can they climb. A guy that fundamentally changed the sport forever. I don't think we'll ever go back to a game like what we saw in the nineteen ninety s or even the early two thousands. So i think that you can make an argument for him where it's like the way we talk about. Even if you don't think steph is one of the best players of all time you know how they do that thing now with hall of fame where.

"Happening where they finish fifth or six. I could see it. I don't know if it will happen that way. But it's a team that i think to some extent is going gonna be built for the playoffs butler seemingly misses a little bit of time. You're lowry you might want him to in a year. Like this where you know. He's not all but he's up there for his position. Certainly a guy that really gives up his body. You just need these guys healthy. You know you'd love to go in as a one or two seats. But i don't think you're certainly with butler and lowering that. They're not going to be afraid of playing on the road if they have to earn extra game in the series so yeah i mean they always been interesting. I mean i think really you could make the argument that of all the teams this offseason they were. They were enough in the contending conversation. If they got a guy that could play point guard be like an upgrade. They got lowery. So it's been interesting to see them do that. And a couple of guys that you feel like might be able to take a leap or make a leap. And they already have a guy like butler and to not really hear them in the conversation. Much i'll be honest. Brooklyn had been dominating lead the conversation. There's a huge wrench that they might have thrown in their situation with the kyri stuff. Milwaukee is the other team that i think is you know is not going to change at all so kind of the antithesis of your question is like at five men lineup. You haven't seen. I just think milwaukee will potentially gum it up for everybody else because they're going to be solid. They know exactly what they are who they are exactly who they're going to have Some excited to see a lot. But there is a part of that wonders if certainly miami. If they're getting short tripped in those conversations. But milwaukee just staying static. I think that you know including being able to keep puertas which. I didn't think they're going to be able to do you know they'll be boring because it'll be the same team but i think that you know they're gonna i think they need to be more prevalent in the conversation of just who's going to win this year. Who will win this year like i think. What the kyri situation as is. There's no question. My milwaukee wins the east and the regular season again like as the as the one c I think it's easy at this point like i. I don't even know who would take them out at this point unless janas has hurt a longtime. Yeah so let's close today's episode with this really fascinating email from from will who writes. I've been reading. Sports illustrated nba articles for a long time. But just discovered your podcast. I'm really enjoying it. thank you will. This question is about top ten. Nba players of all time. My list is jordan number one. Lebron number two kareem number three. And i could explain my reasoning. Why but that would be a very long essay. thank you will. Magic and bird are tied for four and five. Kobe shack dunkin are tied for six. Seven eight some might find it. Blasphemous for me to put wilt and bill russell at nine and ten. But i was born in nineteen eighty-five and to me. They just play a different game of basketball. That i have never seen so my question is are there any players playing right now. That could push someone out of this list. Can kobe shekar. Dunkin really fall out of the top ten and if so which one of them keep up the good work from will so we've kind of had conversations like this in the past But.

"We could finally put to bed. This just really aggravating Dueling conversations around these two players who are really talented. And whatever i just. I'm done with talking about. It's so it stinks. I did not want to have three quarters of this. Podcast revolve around these do. But here we are okay. I'm glad that we get to put this to bed now. do you have anything else. You wanna say about simmons and career. Can we move onto. May open up the mailbox. Let's move on. Let's move move on so bit of the bag. Okay so i just said open up the mail bag and actually i lied a little bit partially. This was not a question that anyone male then. But i wanted to ask it. So i'm being honest with everyone and just throwing it out there that no-one wrote this. This is just the pod speaking And i feel like it's a really interesting discussion question and chris. What five-man lineup. That has yet to ever play a single minute together. Are you most interested in watching this season Well a. It's a lineup. That i think well i guess no they will not play. Boston's will be interesting. Boston is retooling. You know as far as the stuff around horford. I wanna see what exactly what he has left in meaningful basketball so not playing for oklahoma city. I want to see that. And i want to see how they look. If they're using just him out there. If they're in some ways we will have seen some of these guys play together but with guys having a whole lot more seasoning to play with someone like horford who was seasoned plenty before and now you know is basically a little bit older but i wanna see that lineup roll out there and quite frankly and now we've seen a little bit of it but it's the bulls. I keep saying that they are now. They've looked good. They looked a little rougher yesterday. Without some mcclellan's best guys. But i don't know what to think about the so. I have said that about them a couple of times and i wanna see clay back out there. That's a lineup. That we will have seen already the the key part of the core of it but clay out there with his new set of guys in some in some cases a team. That's been very retooled. A freshly vaccinated wiggins i. I'm curious to see like basically how different will some of these guys look with teams that they've been with already so klay in horford. Because i really do feel like these are things that swing the balance potentially of what the rest of their conference looks like. And certainly with what we've talked about with with brooklyn and potentially philly if they do end up swinging a trade hell. What does simmons like with these same guys. And his simmons going to sit in a corner and just stand there with his arms folded..

"You have kyri in philly that becomes really fascinating because that's a really really really good to a really good team. It's still potentially combustible. Because i'm sure i would find something else to you. Know to bring it into the news or to call flat or to. You know to save during his own research about but that would just basketball. Why is there might even be an argument to say that you liked that team more than the team in brooklyn maybe not quite but i mean. It's a really really really good team. That's a really good team So i i don't know long term i i think i like brooklyn more for both of those situations. Just because i feel like embiid is still a question. Mark and kyrie's a question mark having to question marks together feel like at one point one of them is gonna fizzle out or something will happen or something will go wrong whereas brooklyn seems a little bit more stable than that with the guys. They would have laughed including simmons. I think ms issue is more of just like a frustration than anything to do with an injury or anything having to do with something we can keep. You ought perhaps the games. But uh like i said i don't know sentences vaccination certainly hope he's vaccinated if we're talking about sending him to brooklyn and carries place. But i think i'd feel a little bit better about brooklyn's long-term situation than billy's but philly just as far as top to bottom their roster. That's a really nice looking roster if you've got you've finally solved that point guard issue and that's who you're solving with. That's nice. I think philly wins the trade because carries better just to be as simple as possible and i also think that kyrie plus envied given all the questions that you're bringing up here with you know health and The need to google things. When a doctor tells you differently I think that the ceiling there with phillies very very high. A lot higher than it was with simmons For all the things. The simmons does in the playoffs guarding kyri. Embiid pick and rolls like good lord. I don't even know. I don't know what you do there. So it'd be interesting. Still would take the nets because they have k. d. hardin if those guys are healthy than forget about it but right that's that's a fascinating trade right there. I just i think the nba would just be so much more interesting.

"Time here and you're taking minutes away from someone like tires maxi or any of the other younger guys. Who could play who we know are potentially right. So i think that maybe that's what they're talking about right now as a scenario to try to make this less messy than it already is but i maybe maybe my my thing is this and this. I kind of feel like this has been the question for awhile and some extent. It's the same. It's just a a derivative of the kyri conversation we just had hardened did dat at heart and was getting some pretty negative response and analysis out of what he did to start. Yes question about that right. And that's hardened and that's like hardened being where he is vp level for what five years running at that point. Maybe more maybe six have long been doing that in houston so harden was generating that sort of criticism. Ben simmons is clearly one of the best defensive players in the league. who knows. maybe he'll win. Dp oyi at one point at some point. He's not james harden and like he's basically either like you said maybe comes out. Maybe it's a waste of everybody's time. But i mean it's it would be a waste of everybody's time because he's not playing up to the hopes and expectations that they have any. He's not really showing vast improvement or really effort to improve as far as like trying things in a game that might make his game better so if if the situations uncomfortable and untenable in part because he he just decided that it was and granted i will give him the benefit of the doubt and some regard insane docs comment or his lack of comment where he said he really didn't know whether they could win a championship with ben simmons or not. That was a stunning sort of comment. That it yes. When he said it it did make it difficult to see. How how. There's a way forward here but i mean that was essentially what was said. You know embiid made the comment about. I thought when that happened that that was when everything changed. Essentially when simmons didn't take that shot at the rim okay fine to hurtful things maybe a little bit the last few months have been hurtful to the sixers or maybe hurtful is the wrong word. But like you don't think that's been damaging to them in the same way that you know that maybe they can't find a trade for you or whatever it's it's hurt everybody's ego here. Everybody so you your ego aside just a little bit to say i'll play. We'll try to figure out. I really still do wanna be traded. He could maybe even go on record as saying that that he would prefer that. And maybe that kind puts the sixers further and knows about where they have to make something happen but it shouldn't be that hard to go out and play just because they said that..

"I still think that ship assailed a you know. I'll believe it when i see it. But wh- what was your your gut reaction. When you saw these tweets about him going back to philly. Does it mean anything. Same thing that you thought. Where i i looked at it particularly shamas tweet. I can't remember what was just said but it was something about. How like they're nearing a deal. I'm like what they're gonna re-write demands contract that sort of deal like what. What are you what you put something a writing like. What's the deal. That ben simmons is going to show up and do his job. Which again i would. I wouldn't probably roll with it. And handle it. The way that simmons and enrich paula have but it was always kind of a question like how much leverage do. You really have to do this with like you're just gonna have all that money sitting there and just let it go out the window for each game you miss. When there's not a clear trade on the horizon okay. go ahead so from that standpoint. There was that now. Also you had 'em be talk about it last week you've had you know all the stuff that the sixers set for the few months doc included there was always a question of how you're going to put humpty dumpty back together again this wasn't gonna trade was going to happen and man humpty dumpty is gonna have some cracks. I mean maybe put back together. Let me see right quick just for you michael. I didn't even know it was going to have this. I had to put something together recently. Got some gorilla glue. Maybe the sixers could make use of that but those they're still going to be really talented. I think that the win a lot of games. I think that this is something. Where the playoffs. Ben simmons always talented enough to come back. You always have. The potential is still win a championship with them. But i think it's a playoff question. He's going to put up his regular season numbers. He he may not ever shoot a jump shot ever in life. That wasn't ever the problem in the regular season but in the playoffs. That stuff comes in hinders you and so. They'll be fine if they could put aside their ego. I think but i'm sure they're hurt feelings there and i'm sure they have not completely gone away. I'm also sure ben. Simmons didn't want to lose out on thirty five million dollars. If he's gonna sit out the whole year which is kind of you know half the question that kyrie is facing how much either one of those people care about their money. But that's kind of always what both of these are gonna come down to. At some point money tax and ben simmons will reportedly lose of one million dollars after today's game against the sixers are playing the nets and obviously ben. Simmons will not play in it so he'll be out a million dollars which is just hurts my soul to even think about that man like i'm not spending i don't have a salary but like losing thirty fifth and my salaries would not be fun and shout outs of people that can do that. And my hunch for why they're having these conversations. I'm giving shout outs to a lot of people that i don't want to give shout outs do but you know..

"Are there any teams like that. You think could just you know just looking at it from a basketball perspective like even just like i'm looking at it from like who needs a point guard like what teams need a point guard. That would make sense to just 'cause like if you're trading you're you're thinking okay. We are either close to winning the championship with kyri like. That's the missing piece for us or we're confident we can re sign him and we also have these pieces on our roster that we're willing to give up that the brooklyn nets and so that's where it just gets really confusing. But are there any teams out. There that you think would actually be interested in taking and absorbing kyrie irving right now No i mean the the team that came to mind for me as one. That probably doesn't really need them. Which is i've i feel like portland has been crying for a shakeup for the longest. You have dame there already. And i don't know i don't know how excited you get about. Mccollum like he would fit brooklyn fine. You know they don't. I don't think he really helps defensively. But gives them like another guy. That you know has been asked to do a lot in portland alongside dame but is also used to playing with someone else. That has the ball hands a lot so it probably fit really well but i don't you know if you're portland. I don't know how excited you get i. I wouldn't doubt the portland would do it. But also you never know portland. When i think about cities like san francisco and new york portland might also implemented their own set of rules. That say that you have to be vaccinated to play like that. Like if the pandemic it's worse they'll get nightmare scenario. So maybe that doesn't make sense either. I've just struggling to cope with teams where it makes that much sense to do something like that and that they would have enough to trade back in exchange for him i. I can't think of anybody so the other one that i have. I have a few listed here. But i don't wanna go through all of them. 'cause i don't i think a lot of it is just kind of pie in the sky. But the. Pelicans are kind of interesting to me because the brandon ingram. Are you willing to give up brandon ingram for a year of kyrie then kyrie potentially bouncing you have the david griffin kyri connection there from their time in cleveland so there's some possibility maybe of griffin being able to talk to get through to him..

"I think that when we talk about hypothetical trades with kyrie beyond the ben simmons fake scenario that we broached earlier that we're gonna come back to a little bit like. Are there any teams that you think could realistically give up something The brooklyn would be interested in in taking four kyrie like are there any fig trades out there for kyrie that makes sense realistically given his situation and given his contract and given who he is and there's like the threat of retirement like you just don't know what you're going to get with kyrie irving ow throw one at you. That i'm i've been thinking about that. I think there's flaws in it but i i just struggle really to find any good trade beyond the ben simmons for kyrie which is just so clean but sending kyri to the dallas mavericks for kristaps. Porzingis jalen brunson. That's like the best fake kyri trade. I think i have for you. What do you think about that. A him it yeah it. It works i I man like you said. It's so crazy speechless yes you have. This is probably the first is this happened since we start podcasting. I don't. I don't love it but i don't think that there's i mean that's the whole point of trade like this as you're not trading them because you really want to your trading him because he almost feel like you have to but also your trading on for a guy that also has availability problems without a vaccine being involved. So there's that part of it. And also when i think of the things that brooklyn has going on right now. They don't have long term money on their books it's really screwing them up If pausing gets hurt which obviously is always a concern with him. You potentially have a mac spot on a team where you really really need the caps based to remake things if stuff is going bad because you you're going to have if they're healthy two of the best ten players in the league and then you've got everything else on that roster you really cannot. I mean that's kind of the issue that dallas has right now quite frankly. If we're being honest in the moments where kristaps is not producing or healthy. You've got an all world player and then you've got theoretically you've got gotta mac spot that's kind of clogged by kristaps. So talent wise yes but just in terms of availability and stuff like that. I don't know that i would love that. I would understand it and it's crazy that i mean. Can you have imagined three years ago. When did they make the porzingas trae to sit in a dallas. Was it three years ago. Yeah when durant missed one year. He played last year says three years ago i think. Could you imagine at one. Point having a conversation about kevin durant james harden and kristaps on the same little loan. Kyrie instead i mean but then also the idea of like oh well we're gonna move on from kyrie like we're just going to bring a kristaps and bring in a guy that you know is maybe one of the best two or three backup guards in the league all on the same team like just even be having this conversation wilde. But that's what we're talking about here is like i can understand kyrie having his personal views on this but if nothing else and i mean i guess kind of backhanded..

"Wanted as their coach a guy that never coached before. And i think the question here is valid to like yes. It's a personal choice. Inasmuch as kyri himself does not need to be vaccinated. If he doesn't wanna be but are rules that the league has and one of those rules that the city has not even the league is that you have to be vaccinated to play in those home games so at that point. It's already not a personal decision. I mean it's not a personal issue alone and this is what i wrote in my column about this issue was it at a minimum and impacts team. Perhaps the games let alone. What other things he might have to miss or not might not be able to do with the team That's a huge thing. I mean it's not like a designated hitter where you signed him and you went in knowing that he can't play the field. This is something where i mean. He essentially decided that he is not going to do that. Which is his right. But it's also you're right at that point to say that we can't have someone that's only going to be around half the time period particularly for contending team that has a couple of other stars where they could go out at that point normally when you guys much star power they have. It's already about if you have to superstars. It's already about just trying to find other guys. They can kind of fill in the rest of the holes you have. You could very easily go out and trade him and get other guys. And i'll throw out a name here. Sound maybe crazy ben. Simmons is a guy that has already allowed people have already kind of mentioned in passing as maybe making sense for that team because they could use some defenders and some other guys that can just distribute the ball. That don't have as much responsibility with shoot. Because you have guys that can do that really well guys that can score. So hey you know assuming that ben simmons vaccinated. I don't know his status. Hey i mean it potentially kinda works like he. Availability was not his problem. He was available. I've ever since that season where he had the foot issue. Every crazier things have happened This story happening in. The first place is crazy enough as is so. Yeah absolutely should be. I just think you have to be careful about how you go about shopping him but also everyone in the league will understand why you're doing it. It's not that he's not a good player. it's not that he's mean it's not that he's so people would probably not these an asshole is that we have this guy available for half the time and we're trying to win a championship period and other teams. It's not a problem for teams that are outside the new york san francisco market so somewhat. I mean he would be appealing. The lotta people attractive to a lot of people. Maybe this will abrupt some people the wrong way. But he's also a damn good basketball player. Which is probably gonna matter. Assuming he's not doing anything. Criminal is probably gonna matter more than everything else. So the ben simmons for kyrie irving fake trade. I was gonna use that to segue into the ben simmons conversation just the other the other Storyline that we are going to address off the top. But so i want. I want to definitely circle back to that because it's fascinating and seems to obvious to me like it should just happen. I i don't know why it hasn't happened..

"Mail dot com. That's open floor male at gmail.com. We've got a bunch that we wanna hit today but before we do. They're actually a couple of developing news items that we wanted to touch on As used the word developing because these are not new. This is not new news breaking news really these two story lines of kind of just dovetailed the entire large parts of the off season as just an to me. They're really annoying and frustrating and exhausting at this point but we're going to talk about them anyway And the first one is just is kyrie irving and over the weekend Nets head coach steve. Nash publicly acknowledged kyrie in all likelihood will not be playing home games. This season and that is something is not done before. I in public at least Making a declaration like that and it just kind of just certified this reality in in how strange it is from the nets point of view of just not having one of your three best players one of the best players in the world for home games all season long because he refuses to get vaccinated and i have a hard time picturing this playing out in a scenario where he actually like the. This is just like the status quo where kyrie plays on the road. He practices at home which they announced that was allowed any plays on the road and he's not allowed to play at in games at barclays center. I have a hard time imagining that happening. Throughout an entire season could be naive. there may be. The nets are fine with that situation. But i personally can't see it so from that viewpoint. I wanna ask you chris if you were shot marks nets. Gm sean marks. Would you be shopping. Kyrie yet or are you good to just let this play out and i hope for the best. I don't know what can happen beyond the mandate turning around at some point during the season. But is it just you find with things as they are. If you're sean marks are you like i need to get off this guy and get this guy off my team right now. I don't know that you need to. Because i mean there's also a chance that at some point he just says okay. This is starting to just get to be too annoying. Kyri says that potentially and once he says that that problem goes away at least as much as until the next cairo. A dilemma controversy. Whatever you wanna call it I mean i think what you have to be cognizant of here as much as you can. And i think this was always the fear and this was what some people pointed out when they hired. Steve nash was the idea of. Are you giving too much power to these guys..

Han couldn't handle the new england patriots pulling off yet another comeback win on sunday so assuming he recovers. Ron will be back later this week until then chris. I don't think we've ever talked about this. But do you have a favorite nfl team. Or is it. Strictly michigan football all the way for you the latter. I don't have a favorite football team. I have never. i'm from chicago. I'm probably one of eight people in the city. That doesn't care about the bears Have you ever cared about the bears. No i haven't i i. I've said this some people before. I i don't know if i can really completely pinpoint it but my best guess would be. I was a kid that was in church Five times a week so that was like we had three services on sundays. And then one on wednesday in one on friday so i was preoccupied For much of the day. Sunday after. I watch football all day on saturday as a kid so i and i went to a big football school. I kind of feel like it kills your phantom. The closest ever really got to being a fan of team. I'll say as a kid without watching a whole lot of the games. I was a chief's fan But only because my first video game on sega was like a joe montana football game but he was in a chiefs uniform because it was like after his forty niners year. So yeah it was very much. One of those weird things were like. I didn't even know that. He had like a whole history with the forty niners as a kid. And i think kind of the same thing. They had marcus allen at the same time. So as a big chief's fan and thought that joe. Montana and marcus allen. We're like these legendary figures because of their long historic runs with the chiefs which was not the case but and then that was just surface level like i was never a huge fan. But i did that. I thought that team was cool. I liked their uniforms. But no i ever. Since the kapernick stuff where i feel like he was good enough to still be in the league in some capacity and was just essentially being held out. I haven't watched any games. The last game i watched was a game in person at soldier field. The forty niners happen to be in town. Kapernick happened to play. And as i can go out on that note. That's a pretty good note to go out on it. But i have to. So oh. that's pretty awesome. did he. Win did cap cap win. I think the bears won that day. I'm i'm pretty sure. The breslau was the last season news in. San francisco's pretty rough. So i'm pretty sure that bears one that. Yeah well you know it's not too. It's not too late for you to get on the mac jones bandwagon. We can talk about that affair if you want I have some pamphlets and recruiting people. You're a jehovah's witness with joe's great michael. Wonderful am after that there dan. Their third third and goal touchdown pass with like ford ago In yesterday's game sunday's game. I'm just on him and it's just it's glorious times for another twenty years of of hall of fame. Caliber quarterback play new england. Very excited. okay. State Attorney Generals Need to Stand Up Against Vaccine Mandates
"The republican attorney general's would have united together not just wrote letters but if they would have said that if any vaccine mandate that would be instituted in their state would be met with investigations of whether or not waivers are being granted. So here's really what should have happened. You take a state rather red-state state. Let's just take south dakota because we talk about them a lot or how 'bout wyoming nebraska north dakota the attorney general should of told the population file as many religious exemptions of your employers as possible and if they are denied immediately appeal then to the north dakota attorney general's office and that employer could be investigated for violating religious privacy and medical privacy laws these employers would back down and they would grant all the religious liberty exemptions if they would have had the fear of the attorney general coming after them then they would have just backed off now many of the just dealt with this. We just got an email from somebody freedom. Charlie kirk dot com. This is charlie. I find failed religious exemption. I was then intimidated with five men that then have a woman employee literally five men in a room and ask her. Do you take advil. What kind of shampoo us in. What other medicine do you take. Incredible violation of medical privacy of five men asking a young woman. What her medication schedule is. Now could you imagine if five men were doing that. Say do you take birth control. What's your sexual history. I mean the the left would lose their mind but no it comes to a vaccine. All the five men in a room asked very intimate questions and i gave her some advice because they were trying to say what kind of shampoo us. What kind of do use advil or not because those could be against your religious beliefs. They're the ones who determine anyone's religious beliefs that they very well might violated state and federal statute of discriminating based on religion for not granting a religious exemption. And that's where the state attorney general's really need to start to step

Well, really pissed me off about the rock was Why don't in the middle of the song dream on? Yep. What makes it my absolute fondest memory was, uh, that I had just found out about a week. Prior when I thought I had the most vicious stomach flu of my life went to the doctor turned out. I had the nine month style of, uh oh. I was pregnant with our oldest daughter. And you know what? My husband at the time he stepped up and showed me just how protective he was of me and our unborn child. Because that was a crazy night because actual Rose got the crowd so riled up that they don't? Yeah. People were crazy that night, but I didn't let anybody near me. He got me out safely. Oh, last. Yeah. Before our daughter was born. Oh, my gosh. For the meme. Thank you for thank you for remembering it to Trish. I like wanted to make sure I wasn't dreaming that you remember Joey Kramer coming out. And his what he actually said to the crowd, like if you don't do this, we're not playing anymore. And I do remember actual, too. When he got hit with that shoe, he had put his foot up on the speaker and he was doing that. Yeah, that little That extended thing He does in his shoe came up and hit him right in the Manzoni and he was not very happy and he walked on stage and they, um and then slash play the guitar solo. Yeah. Yeah. And do you remember how long as well Rose lectured the crowd? Oh, yeah, There are Steve and the other guy hit with Iran while they were doctoring them up backstage as a rose came back out on stage and lectured the crowds. Yeah. Do you remember they report in the Sacramento bee the following day? No, they down with somebody hung upside down in defense up by the stage with no shoes. No, no, I did not catch that. No, I did not see that. Wow. Wasn't the night but made it so special for me. Was my husband Proved that that moment? Yeah. He will not going to let any harm come to me or our unborn. "Points up and so i it. Turn your denying other people for sure you link in came to be that the worst shot in basketball as a contested to fifteen to eighteen nineteen twenty feet away from the cottages statistically when they look at like the sickly terrible and so people took that information and said okay. We need to play faster. We need more points big fella. You need the dribble so now. It's you want everybody interests all of a sudden not supposed to do is everybody's to you know and it's like wow you play the game. Everybody should be able to do the basic fundamentals. But now it's opened up to where now you have guys like Nikola yokich probably never heard of him. He's a big man that plays in denver one of the best players in the league. He's a five man but he handles the ball a five-man again the center. Okay thank you so to confuse you more now. You have a thing called the point center. Okay works best. If you're big fella can bring it down but the evolution of the game you. You've had guys like magic johnson. Then lebron james comes in. He's very tall but he can handle the ball. And you have been simmons jaanus antetokounmpo. These guys who are very tall. Seventy six eight two seven feet. Who back in the day. You could say okay. Hey you're four or center or something else. They've totally transformed the game. Because they're the guys bringing it up the floor and they're getting the team into offense so they're doing the job of the point guard so now is more of a the term position lists when we were playing when i was planned crazy to say the last decade early in the twenty towns that became kind of one of our words to say position lewis this eruption best the word. I'm looking for So you know basketball has been disrupted. What we thought was the game has been cracked open and now is just become not just is become a faster pace longer shots more athleticism athleticism and Not so much the cookie cutter approach to where someone should be on the court because of their size or lack of size you know it makes me wonder about adaptability and the depth ability of not just some players and i'm sure there's also just a selection that changes with respect to fu who is drafted. And how and just the the entire feeder system into the nba but also coaches even more so coaches like. If if their entire careers been predicated on a system of a certain type. I mean i'm not asking you to name names but have you seen certain coaches who've been really able to adapt to this new style of play and others were like i don't know i don't get it. Well the ones who say. I don't get it. They don't have jobs quickly one of those guys. Of course you know. My ex coach erik spoelstra. He i remember him he. He was having a vision of having that position. Louis type of basketball and that faster pace which. I didn't like at the time because that would mean you would have to play the center as opposed to the power forward and i didn't want to do that but just taking advantage of the speed. Why didn't you want to do that. 'cause i was banging up against guys a bigger than me so usually in the nba. My plan way was about two thirty five to forty. If i'm playing the five. I'm banging guys. That are two eighty to seventy on a weekly nor nightly instances man against brutal. But you know it did work as far as you know using the speed to get around the bigger defenders so essentially playing. I guess if you're a fighter going to class up in weight because you're quicker you can hit them more pretty much. The philosophy one of the other guys who've done a done a great job as a gregg popovich He's in san antonio. He's done a wonderful job because they run the same place. Yeah they just extend him. Oh interesting could you. Could you expand on that. Because i remember watching the last dance And watching this segment on the the spurs and through their say playbook sort of systematic approach and some of the debate around that right. Because there are other players are like. That's not fun to watch this. Abc instead because it beats you. Watch your team expand on what you mean by that. They had the same fundamental system but they expanded it So it's kind of the best analogy. I could put to it as you know. I don't want expose their system but everybody knows. Her system is predicated. And i might. I might be saying this wrong but then but it's two two plays that are the base in their system weak and strong I can't remember which side of the court if you're on. This side of the court is weak on another side of cordage strong. But that's their base of the offense. Like i was saying earlier. The game a few years ago was being played closer to the rim. There was nowhere to go. There's no space even if you want to get your best player attacking into the paint. If there's eight other people in there. It makes it more difficult for jen traffic jam. So you can take those same plays in basketball in. Just tell your players. Hey all these things from the heat days are gonna come into my head with pace and space. I can't believe i'm saying it but that's what you know. The space was very particular. Because you want to be able to see what's going on and to attack the rim. Get closer to the rim for easy buckets. Why you have to do is. Hey if you're in the paint. I want you to get out there. We're going to run the same place. But as opposed to being six feet away from the basket get sixteen. I need you this twelve to sixteen area feet right here because usually bigs. They wanted to keep them. We call them. Biggs the fours and the fives bigs want to keep you as close to the basket as possible that was clogging it up for the smaller guys to be able to attack so you would tell to to be able to when they're bigs close to the basket not state the obvious but so that you can receive a pass jump up. Don vito rebound right. Do do all the things. That's all people do the court that makes it a little tougher to guard. It takes bodies away from the painted area. You know that area where the pain. Yes what we call the pardon. Pardon of pain wondered what that term. That's my girlfriend. Told me. I was like what i never knew that going. Hard in the paint. Yeah you can have the same type of offense which nobody's is reinventing the wheel here but what's happened is the the game has become faster and more spread so that you know more offensive opportunities can happen to you. Have preemptively develop ball handling skills. Which lo and behold now our this huge asset. Yeah as the game evolves. But you get put into center where you're basically running into freight trains It was a part of my whole career. Unless saying a bad thing but let initially. You're what to do now again. Based on just the the homework that i've done. I mean you you seem to be also very very well known as a rebounder and one of the questions that comes to mind for me is if suddenly the bigs so the term are expanded out further away from the basket. Does that not make it harder for you to utilize one of your superpowers with in a ways. There there are certain things that do get taken away in our case it was a little easier to make that sacrifice because we had dewayne and wait in the bron- so if it's saying hey chris we need you to get out the paint and spread the floor. Yeah you're offensive rebounding.

But I got to tell you last Saturday at 1 30 in the afternoon, I put a team on the ground on the first tee at Prestwick Village. My home course with a couple of PGA professionals and a couple of minutes your guys for a little five men $5 Nassau all around and the whole while we were playing, everyone kept checking their phones. Where we're looking at Phil Mickelson. We were looking at these big names. Everyone was intent on seeing what our buddy Ben Cooke was up to one of the 20 PGA professionals that was allowed into the PGA Championship this year and Ben's On the other end of the line. What's going on, then? How you doing, man? On two ingrate. We're we're all so proud of you and I got I got questions coming out my ears. Are you still in a little bit of a high? Have you come down from this yet? Uh, definitely so riding high for sure. But it's starting to get back to normal. I got got work today and, uh, just kind of back to the back to the grind. Yeah, I know. Listen for for those folks out there who don't really understand golf the way some of us do. Half the field gets eliminated on Thursday and Friday. It's called making the cut and Ben. What do you have about an eight footer to make the cut and play the weekend? Yeah, basically I? I had a birdie putt on 18. That was probably 25 almost 30 ft, but it was downhill down wind. And I thought I might have to make it to make the cut because at that time I was at plus five. I thought it might be plus four for the cut and I got a little aggressive and it did not go. It went way way further than I expected. I should say And but fortunately, I made the comebacker to make the cut. That's pretty unbelievable. I mean, just being out there with those guys at that place, which can be can just crucify even the best golfers golf is, you know, I always tell people as a competitive amateur golf is it is a lot about belief, right? I mean, the first time we break 80. It becomes kind of the new norm. And then you finally break 71 day and say, Well, actually, this is possible. We have seen guys and I'm sure you have to that will never, ever sniffed the PGA Tour that have just as much talent, But they never have that one week where they catch it in a bottle and start to really believe they can do it. What is your belief level like now? Going into your next few months of player. You really feeling confident? Adam said. Yeah, I mean, Going toe to toe with the best players in the world and Barring a couple couple bad holes here and there. I mean, almost contending it was Was pretty special week say the least for sure, but it's nothing that I felt was outside of my room, and I was not surprised one bit when I made the cut just because going into this week I was playing so good. The practice rounds went really well. And I just felt really good about my game. Yeah, that's awesome. And I imagine you must have had some fun banter with with some of the some of the more namely PGA Tour guys that were out there with you. Were they pretty cold, Everyone going to give you a pat on the back. Yeah, everybody that I played with Super nice and very, uh No, no. There. They didn't seem like they were bothered by my presence at all. Which is nice and everybody. Yeah, they treated me very, very well. Webb was So nice to me and so is his caddy. We way hit it off right away, and we had a great couple of days together on the weekend. Well it listen, if you're anything like me occasionally listen, When I beat one of our many tour guys or one of my pros, I fall asleep with a grin on my face, And it's rare rights like one out of five or worse, But have you actually looked back at the leaderboard? Because when I look at this thing and say, OK, Ben beat Lee Westwood. He beat Bubba Watson. Two time Masters champion is under softly Be Justin Thomas. He be Rory McIlroy. Have you looked at that list and thought he had beat those guys? I did. I've taken a little peek. I might have to go through it a little bit more in depth, but But, yeah, I know. It's went out when we were watching the coverage Friday afternoon after I posted my number. And realized JT had to make that pledge to even make the cut. And then he ended up missing. Then I was like holy cow like he's ranked number two in the world or three. Whatever he is, and I think I mean, any given week any you can beat anybody. You know it Zippity cool feeling. Well, it's the part of the magic the game. So what's what's on tap for you in the next time? The ensuing six months here, do you have a summer schedule that we can follow along a little bit with Yeah. So I still have a Latin American people clear status, so I'll have hopefully for events in the next couple months. Um, I'll be heading to Miami for the first 1 to 8. Uh, I'll play there. And right after that, I'll fly from Miami to Colombia, Colombia, Ecuador, Barring me getting into the U. S open if I get into the U. S open, I have a qualifier on the seventh of June. If I get through there, I would skip the Columbia event. But yes, like that. We're gonna We're gonna be pulling for you, man. Are you coming to Prestwick to play the PGA Championship in August? Yeah, sure. I'll be there. I've had some good luck in the past at that course for the Michigan Open. Um and so I'm really looking forward to it. And that course is awesome. I've always really enjoyed it. So it's well, I'm biased, obviously, but I'm putting the invitation out there over this over the airwaves in front of a half a million. We need you to accomplish up with us and the boys and hang out and get to know you a little bit. And I think that we could probably find a way to help you get an edge. Deal. Yeah, well, listen, Ben cook. Thanks for coming on the show. Congratulations to you. I know all of Michigan was pulling for you. Let's check in with Dana Clark on traffic back in just a few. We're going to break down exactly what happened and put a little bit of context into it. What does this mean for the Lakers moving forward now that you've lost this was a game that a lot of people look forward to a lot of people had this game marked on their calendars did the Lakers maybe not and there's a lot of different things for us to to get into here the team didn't play. Well, there's no question and we'll talk a little bit about that. The Lakers were down Anthony Davis age. A giant loss. They were also down Dennis Schroder and I thought that was a bigger loss than he would be on most nights because the Nets defense is so poor. I think schruder would have had a very good game tonight. Just living in the paint getting to the rim creating Havoc. He would have made a difference out there for the Lakers certainly, but unfortunately was not able to go do to contact tracing with all the cobit stuff going on. So, you know, that was that was definitely unfortunate. We certainly didn't get the kind of finals preview matchup that people have been thinking we would get from this game because you're missing those star players. I don't think we got a very good representation of who the Lakers are as a team. I also don't think we got a great representation of who the Nets are because they're so different with Kevin Durant, but we did find out that the Nets love to shoot lots and lots of threes and make a lot of them tonight. Let's finish the game shooting just 46% from 3, but that doesn't tell the whole story. They were 50% or better for almost the entire game. It was until the end that they dropped off doing a great job generating open Thurs. And the Lakers Defenders were struggling to get out there and get a hand up and they were knocking them down. Joe Harris ridiculous 647 from 3 for 21 points. I said, this is a pregame video game. But one thing that they couldn't do was allow another guy to get going if Kyrie gets his points if James Harden gets his points you're going to live with that you're going to try to make life as difficult as you can on them, but you can't allow another guide to get going in and this game Joe Harris certainly did again dropping 21 points and then you gave up 15 to Timothy Loma Carrboro 2015 points to TLC not great. They're from the Lakers side of things LeBron. James had to pretty much do everything 32.8 board 7 assists 33 minutes glad that he only played 33 minutes. No reason for you to burn him out in this game when it was clearly won. The Nets were going to win especially once they got into the second half LeBron 146 from three three of six from the line, okay? One of the only other guys in double-figures was sixteen and ten. So we got a double-double Montrezl Harrell with ten points. Nobody else really did a whole lot out there. Nobody else did did much on the offensive end. You had nine points from k c p but just 145 from 3 West Matthews who started and played some shooter 144 shooting o of two from deep in 24 minutes Mark assault eight points did shoot for 3:00. So I'd like to see them in four to five threes a night did shoot for hit two of them. So you'll take that but the Lakers on the night shooting just 27% from 3 that slide from behind the three-point line at one point. They were third in the NBA in 3-point percentage and they have dropped dramatically since then and in fact last game they were up just about forty percent from three against the wolves and that was the first game in a while they'd been even better than league-average from deep and that's usually about thirty-five thirty-six percent tonight shooting just 27% That's with me rounding up. That's not good enough that will not get it done 6 a.m. Turnovers on the night as well. That's not a good sign either pretty much everywhere things could have gone wrong for the Lakers. They they really did ten offensive rebounds compared to 8 to the Brooklyn Nets. The brake pads are terrible rebounding team. That was a place where the Lakers needed to dominate 24 free throw attempts for the Nets compared to just 14 for the Lakers each and every spot along the way where the lake she really needed to win that particular area free throw attempts 3-point percentage turnovers, the Nets came out on top and because of that they won the game and wanted thousand Ali so I wouldn't be taking your questions and comments, but I guess before we get into everything. How much do we really take away from this knowing? There's no Anthony Davis knowing there's no Dennis Schroder knowing that the Lakers how many times tonight did we see the Lakers throw out lineups that we've never seen before with five men groups that literally have not played a single minute together yet. Not played a minute. That matters and I know we get some people who say it always but you can't make excuses. You can't you know, you have to go out there and win every single game. I'm just telling you what happened in the game. We saw the Lakers defense breakdown thought that was the Nets offense was really good part of that was the Lakers energy wasn't there part of that was also that they were playing an unfamiliar groupings and defense being something where everybody has to be on the same page. You get defensive breakdowns like this when you throw a line up together add necessity, I don't blame Frank Vogel here. You have no shooter. No Anthony Davis your entire rotation changes and you're winding up throwing out these kind of bizarre lineups out on the court and that's going to create defense of break that breakdowns. It's going to lead to open looks because you guys aren't used to knowing exactly where they're going to switch off their defense of responsibilities are it's a tough situation to be in and so I don't want to make excuses for the Lakers energy. I think they should have played with more energy with more Pace should
What's going on with the New Orleans Pelicans?
"This year's deputy f team the new orleans pelicans. I don't know what baker this team you can catch them on any given night and it's a completely different experience than the last night. I don't know if the players make sense together. Actually i'm pretty sure they don't. I don't really know what the overall philosophy is. I don't know if they're trying to be a playoff team if they're trying to be rebuilding. I'm just constantly confused and there are some optimism because they want a couple of games around people here they go here. Zion and then they get killed last night by the bulls and have one hundred thousand breakdowns. And i guess my first question to you is the pelicans what the fuck you. How many exclamation points can we tack onto that. Wt fd think. But i was hoping you could answer this question. Because i think you're spot on in that it's so much depends your view of this team on when you catch them even just like what stage in the season. You caught them because for a minute. It looked like they were going to live up to their personnel and be a tough minded offensive team. Scrounging out offensive rebounds to get points and just kinda struggling on that in because they're spacing issues the script has completely flipped. And now this is all of a sudden very competent offense. I think park has really driven by brandon. Ingram is i ion williamson. They're making that part of it work but the defense. Jesus christ i mean it is. There is inconsistent defensively as really any team out there. Yeah i would say other than brooklyn. It's the team that's most likely to give up one hundred forty on any given night to any team. That knows what they're doing. I so if you actually look at their stats and you haven't been watching that much and you look at the stats and you look at williamson in ingram and all right. Those guys are having good years pretty efficient. And then you look at lonzo and you look at bledsoe. Lonzo shoot thirty seven percent from three so she and forty percent so going into the season like well. Their guards can't shoot. They're not going to be able to have enough space. Well their guards are actually shooting. Okay but then. When i watch everybody together. I don't have a five-man line-up that i liked like yesterday. They're playing Kyra lewis with He he got a little more run and he's really interesting. Rookies really fast. He's little darren foxy and gave them an energy that i was like. Well maybe this. Maybe i would like this version of the pelicans more. If fast you know now unleash sign a little bed. Go up and down a little bit more. But i still don't know who the other two teammates would be with cairo. Lewis design and branding. And i guess the fundamental question for me is do zion and brandon. Ingram makes sense together on a team. That's actually trying to win the title. I think they make sense on offense but the question was i on really broadly. As who are you going to put the five that's gonna make up for all. He doesn't do defensively right now. That's always been my issue with the idea of playing small and we are putting him at the five his rotations is. Aren't there really the pelicans as a team. If i were an opposing coach. I would say this is a team. We can beat him rotation every they are. Pass away from defensive breakdown every time out on the floor and keep moving the ball. You keep doing what you're supposed to do they will they will mess up in a whether it's undersized guy in the corner doesn't quite rotate over all the way. Jj radic or josh. Hart they try hard. They do what they can. But they're not equipped to be helped rotation defenders. If a guy like zion isn't going to be one so i mean i'm i'm kinda bullish on the anger rooms ion depot in general but i am really struggling to see how you put together those lineups. I can see how they kind of got into this conundrum where they clearly wanted to have some veterans early. Some veterans fell into their lap in terms of what was available and trying to get some pics and make their other moves but long term. It's a weird team to build with. And then you get lonzo into this conversation to and what they want to do with him. It's it's kind of messy.
As Broad NCAA Change Awaits, College Football Is Facing a Recruiting Reckoning
"Is national signing day. Better college football reporter out there than our next gas. Ross dellinger from sports illustrated. He has written today about the ever. Slow changes of college football especially under the heading is brought into change a wage college. Football is facing a recruiting reckoning ross. Great to have you on and it seemed like a normal day nick. Sabin got all the siamese and everybody else was left to watch but Before we get to your piece just your reaction on a fairly quiet national signing day. Yeah it is. I think we're probably going to see more of this as we as we go through the year too it's just it's signing day is going to be quieter in quieter In already worst pretty quiet because the december national signing period but now you throw all of the transfer portal stuff With coaches holding spots for transfers and in the bigger news has been has been transfers. You know so not only did the early national signing day in december Kind of cake Take the spotlight away from the old school signing day but now you have transfers doing the same think at last check do we have. We have a number on how many tennessee players are in the portal. Well the number. Last week when i did compilation for that story you mentioned was nineteen And i figured there'd be tops in the nation but they are not They're number two Western kentucky has twenty one players in the portal freight a freight ask. What's going on there. But i'll look into it after you're off the air. Let's talk about your piece today. And and every time we talk to you you you you. You have your handle on on where college athletics is. And where is it going so look ahead as you report have reported on this subject and and what is likely to change in the future right. It's to put it simply politics. It's a mess It really is a messy situation right now when it comes to roster or management's It all starts because of the the influx of transfers. You know when when there were reports were out there that the ncaa was gonna pass the one time. Transfer exception and allow allow players to transfer without that one year sitting out penalty. Obviously players jumped in the transfer portal and their or at least by my count around thousand scholarship players. Transfer portal and about fifty percent of those Do not have a home right now. There could be hundreds more joining the spring and the summer when the dog officially pass it and they will pass it by april Shane lyons The d. one Oversight football oversight chair tells me they will pass it by april so you'll you'll have a bigger influx. What happens there when you get more transfers out there. They had fewer and fewer homes to go to You you've got transferred from the power. Five paul dropping down to the group of five or the fcs. 'cause there's not any room and then there's some transfers and the poodle that won't play football again. I mean that's been documented In fact i wrote about in lsu player who two years ago with no transfer portal in. Never play football again. Because there wasn't a spot for them so and wives and their spot because as you mentioned scholarship limitations. The ncaa has the schools can carry eighty five scholarship. Players can sign twenty five new players a year only can't get go above that twenty five and because of the influx of transfers there's talk of increasing or just in some way that twenty five man spot because what a transfer does all there's so many of them What happens is if you if you get a transfer day. When they leave that school they. They're in a way penalizing that school. That's an open scholarship. That school cannot fill In an adjoining their new school. And they're taking up a to precious twenty-five chinese you know initial counters. They call them. So there's a lot of issues for sure going on

3 killed, others injured in shooting at club in Midtown Houston, police say
"A shooting at a night club in midtown Houston, Texas, five men reported shot three of them fatally. No word on why nor any suspects.
"Back in Twenty Sixteen Semaj Arash had day job at the time I was working for a race equality charity but he always had an eye out for a story. The charity he was working for have been doing all kinds of research into the hostile environment an impact the government's immigration policy was having on various areas of life. Now, this was before the wind rush scandal broke said, it wasn't really much discussion going on about this. But Samir was interested in finding out more. At the end of two thousand sixteen. I started looking into data sharing agreements that been I. Think one that was nine about the time which was around the around healthcare data being shed with the heightened office. Then around the same time that was issue around education data. So the the people census essentially kind of being being shed potentially being used to target families because they had enrolled, they're in school. So we knew of some official organizations sharing information with. Authorities. But what about the please he wanted. So. I had a theory which was that. I wanted if victims of crime would be caught up in in this system as well. Man You police would work with immigration officials when handling the perpetrators of crime he wondered if the same was true for those who were victims of criminal acts, this was too big a topic to look into on his own after all he was working full-time in his day job. He needed help any new just who to contact. I'm Natalie blamer relaunch journalist. Nazli was working politics, dot co DOT UK and the powerful report about immigration authorities targeting people who are homeless. She hadn't spoken to Samir before, but his was a name she recognized. Followed the twitter and I think we've had a few interactions on twitter and it was shortly after I published The holiness story that he contacted me and said I'm looking into data share in between different organizations in the Home Office would like to. Do that with me and he explained he was he had two full time job and he was quite limited in how much she could do during the day. and. It was. It was it sounded really interested in it was. You know the areas that I was interested in. And so I agree very quickly and so Nutley and submit decided to start working together sharing tips divvying up the workload. We've naturally making calls during working hours and submitted digging away the data when he could we have a very good workmanship we've actually continued to work together since then really. Because I think we have different. Skill sets and. Different strengths the allow us to work together and sort of. US each of other's strengths are for things that we might found more tricky. Their first port of call was to draft some freedom of information requests. They wanted to ask the police if and when they worked with immigration officials. So we sent off some a couple of freedom. Of Information Requests one to the the mats and one to greater. Manchester Police as two of the logic of police forces but these requests a tricky they take research to get them. Right. Yeah I a long and harrowing experience from information requests like light might based. Let's say you have to think through what the piece of information or document that your looking for is, and you have to define it as clearly a narrowly as you possibly can. Especially, if you ask you about something which the places holy that information might find embarrassing that will find any reason possible till you are to delay you or come back and say, Oh, can you can you defy refined your question more say we specifically asked about about policy What is your? What is your policy on this? And if possible, provide the documentation. They waited. And waited. And then the response came back urban but thinking, Gotcha now this is this is significant. The. Met Police had admitted through the response that they would pass on details of by victims and witnesses of a crime if there were concerns over their immigration status. Migrants support groups reacted with shock warning that people would be scared to report crimes. If they feared, they could be deported as a result. The pair of journalist published their story on Politics Kerr UK, and they kept going. Natalie. Heard about a troubling case where Brazilian woman who was working as a sex worker was robbed at knifepoint by five men. When she went to the police to report the crime she said, they focused more on trying to prosecute her for the sex work. and. When she returned to UK after a holiday abroad she was detained. She was then facing deportation after you sort of instead of being treated as a victim she that case was turned and she was then being treated as a an immigration offender
It's the Little Things
"For want of a nail, the shoe was lost for want of a shoe. The horse was lost for want of a horse. The rider was lost for want of a writer the message was lost for want of the message the battle was lost for want of a battle, the kingdom was lost. Small things can have reverberating effects on history both good and bad. In fourteen fifty three, the great walled city of Constantinople fell it had withstood sieges for eleven hundred years. It had held off fire from the then state of the art cannons for weeks. The Byzantine said even Ford soldiers trying to tunnel under the wall autumn Turks were finally able to overrun the great city because someone left the door open. One of the many gates in the fourteen miles of wall had been left open during the night and the Ottomans flooded in. Killing Constantine the eleventh in the battle and bringing an end to the eastern Roman Empire. My Name's Moxy and this is your brain on facts. It was a freezing Christmas night in Trenton. New Jersey during the revolutionary war. The English Colonel Johann Gottlieb Rall. Commander. Of a mercenary infantry regiment of fourteen hundred has seen soldiers from Germany sat down to a good supper and an evening of entertainment. He and his men were celebrating their recent victories over George Washington's volunteer army, and of course, the Christmas holiday. Safe from the bitter cold and the pelting sleet inside a wealthy merchants home that they had commandeered. They relaxed safe in the assumption that no one in their right mind would possibly try to cross the Delaware River at night in a blinding winter storm. Someone challenged role to a game of chess, and before long he was deep in tactics and strategy. There was a knock at the door. And exhausted young. Messenger boy came in bearing a note from loyalist farmer. It's important to remember that about a third of colonists still consider themselves to be British and didn't want the revolution. Raw paid the boy little notice took the note and put it in his coat pocket without opening it. That pocketed piece of paper would cost him and the war effort nearly. Two hours earlier and ten miles away. Washington's men had begun being ferried across the icy Delaware. River. It took over ten hours to get all twenty four hundred men over to the New Jersey side. The conditions were so adverse five men froze to death. Then began the arduous march to Trenton in the dark. The plan had been to attack the town from all sides before dawn, but the troops didn't arrive until eight am. During the attack which lasted only an hour forty of the German. Henson's were killed and the remaining thousand surrendered. Colonel was mortally wounded. When his body was found the unopened note warning of Washington's crossing was still in his pocket. If role had read it, he would surely have had his gross of professional soldiers prepared. He allowed his pride and the weather to lull him into thinking his enemy was not a threat. Had he won the battle he may well have killed George Washington James Madison James Monroe John Marshall Aaron Burr and Andrew. Hamilton The. Second, most common premise in alternate history circles behind what if Germany won World War Two is what if the south one the American civil war? Two pieces of paper dropped in a farmer's field almost brought that about. Confederate General Robert E. Lee. Whose statue in the middle of my hometown of Richmond, Virginia has recently been given the historical context. It's so sorely needed. In the form of tons of. Graffiti. Issued Special Order one ninety one during the Maryland campaign before the Battle of Antietam. In the order lead divided his army, delineating the routes and roads to be taken and the timing for the units to reconvene. Adjutant Robert H Chilton penned copies of the letter endorsed them in Lee's name. Staff. Officers distributed the copies to various confederate generals. General Thomas Stonewall Jackson in turn copied the document for one of his subordinates, major general, D H Hill who was to exercise independent command as the rearguard. A Union soldier Corporal Barton W Mitchell of the twenty seven. Th Indiana volunteers found two pieces of paper bundled with three cigars as he marched across a farm in Maryland an area recently vacated by Hill and his men after they had camped there. The order provided the Union army with valuable information, concerning the army of Northern Virginia's movements and campaign plans. Upon receiving lease lost order. Major General George McClellan leading the Union army of the Potomac proclaimed. Here is a piece of paper with which if I cannot whip Bob Ely, I will be willing to go home. He immediately moved his army in hopes of foiling lease battle plans. When Lee heard a copy of special order one, ninety, one was missing he. He knew his scattered army was vulnerable and rushed to reunite his units Antietam Creek near Sharp's Berg. Lee's troops arrived tired hungry and many were sick. The Battle of Antietam, would go down as the bloodiest battle of the American civil war with casualties recorded as twenty, three, thousand dead wounded, which was usually as good as dead or unaccounted for over the course of the half day battle. That's nearly two thousand soldiers in our one every two seconds. When night fell both sides ceased fire together, their dead and wounded. The next day Lee began the painstaking job of moving his ravage troops back Virginia. Here, some scholars argue another solitary decision had far reaching consequences. Despite having the advantage. McClellan. Allowed Lee to retreat without resistance. From his point of view, he'd accomplished his mission by forcing Lee's troops from Maryland and preventing confederate win on union soil. President, Lincoln however thought McClellan missed a great opportunity to potentially end the war three years earlier than it ultimately would.
