"Last week china launched the first module of its new space station aboard a long march. What happens up in what is now a much more crowded and contested realm remain unhelpfully perhaps even dangerously vague in two thousand and nineteen. The united states founded space force a full-fledged branch of its military other countries will doubtless do something similar. "On the one side. The reason highflyers crashing back to earth. They just check out. These moves fastly. Fc twilla draftkings all plunging. Those names now down at least thirty percent from their all-time highs on the other side the old school value name cisco ibm dow oracle not just today but many are trading at or near all time highs so in this tech tug o war. What side do you bet on dan. Well right now. It seems pretty clear. I mean the pandemic winners right some of these high valuation high growth names that were really well situated during just the unique situation during the pandemic they pulled forward a lot of demand here and now they're faced with decelerating metrics forward on all sorts of occasions. You have fastly down there. Facet was down twenty five percent today. It's still trades at about ten times next year sales so the demand and the pace in which these companies were growing in last year into this year are just not sustainable at these valuations. I throw a whole nother group though in their mail. We've seen some huge. Ipo's over the last six months or so airbnb. The Irresistible Charm of The "Family Factor"

"The first thing. I want to talk about is. It's actually a a piece. That was put out by credit. Suisse maybe four years ago. Yeah four years ago. Twenty seventeen and it's called the irresistible. Charm of the family factor. The family factor is just the fact that as they point out in the report family owned companies tend to outperform. The non family owned companies in their peer group and this it holds true. It's like all regions all sectors all different sizes big cap small mid cap cap. Everything in between and they say this was written in two thousand seventeen. They said over the last decade. The annual return generated by family owned companies was on average five percent higher than average annual return. That's a lot man. that's a lot. The difference between like twelve percent a year and seventeen percent year. Just say is a lot and so they're they have what credit suisse caused the family. One thousand apparently they have an index or a list of these of thousand of these companies and they started out the report. They say whether you're buying coffee at the small cafe around the corner driving a bmw or sitting in an armchair eating some fruit from the local grocery store. European Commission Unveils Plan to Tackle Foreign Subsidies

"It block deals with foreign companies if those companies get unfair subsidies from their governments. You don't have to read too terribly closely between the lines to see the EU was talking about China here as the global search for leverage over the world's second biggest economy. Seems to be waning event marketplaces to replenish or has that one European leaders are increasingly worried that China's state heavy economic system is threatening their own companies. James Lewis is with the Center for Strategic and International Studies. He says China and Europe have a history here about a decade ago. The Chinese through a combination of industrial has been nauseous and economies of scale from the local market and huge government subsidies, basically ate the solar panel market and drove the Europeans out of the business. Europe's new rules are trying to level the economic playing field. Concern over human rights is another factor. Other governments also concerned President Biden is reportedly circulating proposals targeting China. The G seven summit David Dollar is with the Brookings Institution. We and the Europeans we can control who invest in our economy Who's able to do mergers and acquisitions in our economy that there lots of other areas where we just do not have any leverage. Anything that China does within its territory from subsidies to human rights is probably out of reach, he says Jennifer Hillman with the Council on Foreign Relations. Says China's growing influence as an investor and infrastructure through its international belt and road initiative has made it harder for some countries to confront him. And Hillman says the U. S is partly to blame. It's very hard when we're going around the world telling everyone don't use wall weighs five G when we do not have a five G alternative to offer we're concerned about the degree to which China is building all of this high speed rail around the world, but we do not have a high speed rail alternative to offer. Governments have called for a level playing field with China. But for now it is a moving playing field in the U. S and its allies are just trying to find their footing in New York. "I'm going to title this one. Are you five. So my best buddy in the world stu he won't eat a sandwich unless you cut off the crust. Stop it right now and he also likes it too in. This is the reason. I asked this last night. He asked me if i wanted to go out to eat at lulus with them. I couldn't go. Because i was getting a haircut. And i was far away from losing time but i laughed because ago. Yeah that's great. let's go let's go there. He always orders like the same things all the time but one of them is. Sometimes i'll order like a sandwich. And i'll ask the people if they could cut off the cross and then he also goes. He passed gas any way that you could cut it into triangles to do like the triangles a photo and can he have somebody airplane in his mouth comes a open wide. Open the hanger but that was something. That is a lead. Do like you know. Smith would do right. I mean he's as bad as those adults who eat dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets time shadow. No matter i wasn't sure why dino nuggets are the only acceptable nuggets is. There is a reason for it. They got little pendulous and when you put them in the air fire and actually makes for a more dark by the way. I don't think there's real chicken those things. It's processed chicken parts. So i i bring this up. Because i want to ask this question What childlike food food thing or childlike thing. Do you still do. Like mike was talking about how he likes to go on the slide and stuff like that at the at the park by his house. But i wanna know foodwise like what child like food. Do you like to eat. Because i know people that baby food like they'll eat the egg. The the like gerbers like bananas. Like all you're looking at the time you do you like that only will do. Yeah i only do the sweet potato puree so good guy. Oh my gosh so good. And it's a baby food and sometimes the cashier will ask like. Oh it's so cute. How old and i'm like forty. What about mac and cheese. I see all the time. They've there are buddies of mine. That are in their thirties and forties and they live off of kraft macaroni and james e. But they don't get they don't get craft Easy mac might have by the way. Mike is to too adult for them. They get the little ones that look like choo choo trains and things like that like the macaroni noodles that are like shape. They're shaped like their favorite cartoon character. Or whatever or favorite. Tv show right. Now yeah i get the oatmeal with the dinosaur. Eggs in it derailed. Because like i used to just get regular meal and then pour sugar on top of it which is so unhealthy. It's already so sweet as it is so i realized okay. I'll a modified. I won't put any sugar. But i'll get the dino eggs which sweeten it up but it's not as bad quarter kids meals anywhere. I can you guys know this unless they tell me. I can't i order a happy meal or a kids meal. When essentially what's the reason when you got a taco for me. I don't waste any perfect amount of food or kids meal shannon. I twelve kids. Meals listener shannon. Hi hi so. I actually pack husband and he is in construction of gobert and every day. I know all the construction buddies are like dude. Are you ain't nothing shannon. It makes sense because you don't have to waste a spoon. He doesn't have to worry about eating it out like you. Just you just squeeze it and go. And it's done they're perfect. What's his favorite flavor. Strawberry banana shot him out right now. Say a low tone. Yes hi brian. I know you're driving to work. I love you. And i hope you enjoy your job. And don't forget flintstone vitamins. I hi hi. What is it that you like unquestionable. Oh my god. Yeah are our producer. Allen also is a big incredible fans because he likes office the freezer's full of 'em yeah perfect. Get them from costco. You can get one of those huge boxes of ood samantha. What is it that your husband likes still. Hey my husband drinks those capri sun juice. Pouches you guys remember. Well you still have young kids. But i remember when we would have birthday parties at the house for the kids or we'd have like some kind of a thing where all the kids friends are coming over. And i would be sent up to go. Get capri suns and i would get the wrong flavors. You have to get the right once in. My kids hated when i got the variety. Pack because they would only want like two of the ones that were in the variety pack. And i'm a blow your mind as an adult. They're really good with fawqa. Really really really good with mantha. Your husband ever mix them with vaca. Haven't tried that try. Maybe i'll suggest that to him. Yeah j what is it you like all those those spruce back back the and they like little jelly The welfare yeah yes yes yes Also there's one more thing. I wanted to say like right quick. All together and we'd all have to create a fleet. But I am. Thrilled beyond measure as you could tell from my town. Thrilled beyond measure to announce a serial has returned to us. do you think there was any sort of significant event and cereal news recently? That might have precipitated guys. Let's say a holy revival trying to remember if there's any cereal news from this week. That made me stand up for my couch. Pump, the both fists in the air and loudly announced to my wife that this this story had had broken. Yes, it's a pretty big deal. Huge McCain Hobby over. Specifically listened to episode eleven of this podcast yet I. Recommend you do so now just to get. you know acquainted again of just how good we think! Tropical fruit loops are When we first tried them so so long ago, they were exclusive to Mexico and it just seemed like. America's once again destined to get the short end of the stick when it comes to quality cereal interpretations s if you refer back to South Korean Orios as a reference point for how America's version of it was not so great, but I'm very very happy to report that tropical fruit loops not only are going to be migrating to the United States, but they already have and have been spotted at. All sorts of sort of localized grocery chains. Yeah these this is the fruit loops that after trying it. I boldly announced. That it should get to change its name to fruit loops and regular fruit loop should have chain worse free lives. That's the extent to which I love this area I hope against hope. They're not tinker. With a concern, yeah, we have not tried it obviously, but this is A. you all are in for quite a tree. I cannot wait to get a box of this again. I thought for sure that. it. Just sort of you know I had my one fleeting glance. OF TONGUE GLANCE! At it and it was That chapter of my life is over, but hopefully this is a a new a new volume that employ now from this area shelf switches to elaborate on why this is probably deserving. The overall fruit loops fruit loops label. It's just that fruit loops. It been famously publicized that all of the loop colors tastes the same right, and when you taste them, you can't really discern any individual fruit flavors and fruit loops, tropical fruit loops on the other hand. claimed they are flavored after Pineapples Bananas. Oranges, and mangoes and it's crazy that you can definitely taste all of those in my opinion. Yes, absolutely absolutely. So by doing much greater justice to particular fruit flavors, especially these fruits that very rarely get put into into cereals I think we have a real recipe for a winner here. They changed the box. To make it a little bit more laymen formulaic I'm hoping that. The actual serial doesn't. Follow the same fate. Yeah I am I'm thrilled about this. It's wonderful news. How excited on the scale of zero to tropical fruit loops coming in. Should I be excited about cookies and cream krispies. Oh, man, probably about A storebrand honey bunches of oats which I think okay. Maybe three point five to four respectable. Yeah, cookies and cream krispies was announced right on the tail end of tropical fruit loops. Given It has not received much attention as sort of a second banana. To the the obvious first banana in the room, but cookies and cream crispy seems pretty straightforward in trying to work some sort of Oreo esque flavor into the classic puffed rice, cereal. I will say that from my experience a few years ago, there were cookies and cream. crispy treats. That came out and they were not very. Good in the sense that they basically tasted like normal rice crispy treats so that's bad. I would say. Yeah. I'm not too excited about cookies and cream KRISPIES I. Don't know how much nuance they can really add something that is just so you know straight up. Chris Rice that right. I don't know I'm just not too thrilled about. It now kirk from wrong Gan. You're not the world's biggest puffed rice person as far as cereal fans go I. Mean Yeah, if you're talking about krispies. Of course, the original rice krispies treats cereal accepted talking about krispies or pebbles I just think that I really WanNa cereal that hits me in the Gut, and I can actually tell that I ate something rather than just. Sort of evaporating during the digestive process and making me want more of it. and. That's not even considering the soggy in his element when it comes to these lighter cereals, but I am a little bit biased towards cookies and cream krispies. Let's hope that the American interpretation of tropical fruit loops enough to leave me in a very saintly countenance when I review cookies and cream krispies as well. I yeah I I have to hope I, I'm a big fan of cereal so I'm into it, but we'll. We'll say This this next story we're Are we looking at another? WHATEVER FYE! Fun, go pop handed. Joint this a real. Is this a real deal cereal? Not Quite. This is definitely a real Kellogg's product from the same genus specifically as Spongebob Cereal which we talked about not too long ago. It is minecraft creeper crunch cereal. apparently they wanted to double down on. Getting the most out of their square cereal piece Motif that they have minecraft succeed Spongebob but this serial includes the same sort of how not. How? Tan this is the worst looking cereal. Life. You these multi grain squares that have little circles in the middle, and you have just these square green markets of varying shades, and it's not. Terribly exciting they did add cinnamon flavor from the Spongebob One. Show that saying anything but I just say this is very uninspired, considering the lush colorful world of minecraft. Say huge huge props, though to Kellogg's forgetting in right. At the peak. Yeah the minecraft craze. been out for a decade, so I'm happy that they're getting out there and take. Striking the Iron Tot They came on the fortnight cereal early the the overwatch cereal. Before the minecraft cereal. We are going to get a nine. Zero I'm sure within those two years. You know. I kinda count Lama loops because that is why the Llama was having a moment. So I would I would kinda count Lama labs in there, but it's very possible to open a box of minecraft, creeper cereal and withdraw a box of a fortnight cereal from it. I will say the MARB. It's almost looked kind of cool like I don't know that I've seen perfectly square lake. They look like they do have a minecraft vibe to them I will. Give them that The cereal pieces just look miserable, though there's eight barbeque and hall things that are passing I. Don't mean for this to be a negative show.

"The way that Nike would and that ultimately is what put that deal over the top Financially for them the other thing was I think is funny is that might go after all this roundabout negotiations in the mom. And Dad's here. This is the best deal. You'RE GONNA go. He still called Adidas and said. Are you sure it's so funny thing? We can all be wearing spot builds right now. I can have a closet builds sports and leisure. Shoot a basketball shoe. It comes down to a coin flip. Okay during the eighty four drafts and if the coin flip flips the other way heads instead of tales. Michael Jordan is a rocket and another coin flips. The right way he's weren't spot. Bill we could all be rocking yellow and orange spot builds right now in thinking that that. So it's these little moments that you get you get access to think of you if you extrapolate that out this many years to now the effect that had imagined the guy who he called. Dita someone made that someone received that phone call and said Nah Michael Jordan We're GonNa let you go to another shoe company We don't need your services at this time. Thank you very much now. You would move heaven and earth. I don't care what they say about. The company was in disarray and and The founder of the company passed away and his kids. Didn't know you have another. I think that the Air Jordan brand under the Nike umbrella sells out almost every brand the world to this day. So it's sliding doors moments like that man that are fascinating to me from when you look at his thing from a business angle Jason. When you putting together a documentary it needs soundtrack. The tunes continue to improve apart. They job what's up? What's Your Jukebox? When to these songs these were the ones I mean this. This was episode. I was looking forward to musically because You know mid eighties you have. There's we were GONNA do sucker emcees where we're GONNA do hard times. Wanted to get a run. Dmc Song in there and you'll hear some run. Dmc later in the series. I knew we wanted special. Ed I got it made it just. It seemed to match him when he first got that deal. It's kind of like it's cocky but it's not over the top flamboyant and then even like black sheep for ninety. Two that to me was the anthem of that year. Don't sleep on that land once we get to Atlanta. What are we here? We here Rosa Parks outkast and we have been saving that one as well we we. We didn't know if we're GONNA use that for just like a ninety eight. Domination regular season domination montage. Because if we're telling the story of the ninety eight ninety eight ninety seven ninety eight season month by month. There's not much to tell about the month of February and March. They were just dominating the east and it was clear that they were going to march to the the playoffs and be the number one or two seeds. So there's not much drama there That's why one or two. Yes right one or two. But does our coaches was at the All Star game everywhere. He was hugging. Larry Joe Byrd documentary during all star weekend. South the rig the rule and Reggie who made the All star Game I was watching Rick. Carlisle makes his triumphant return on this documentary after calling his mommy and in one thousand nine hundred eighty six at the garden. Now he's standing right beside Larry Joe Berta in the locker room so we had run out of story line at that point. It was a problem there. There wasn't much going on. It became clear at the all-star break. Jerry Krause reiterated doubled down and said this is it and then you have the the. All Star game was played very early that year. I think it was like February first or the eighth or something like that. So we had two months until the all the The playoffs started where there was not much drama. They just they were winning. Thirteen out of fifteen nine out of twelve. They were playing at a really good clip and there wasn't much to say we had established. How good this team was. So we packed a lot of backstory into these two episodes five and six because we had the playoffs waiting for us on the other side Oh hold on. You said there wasn't a lot of drama there but there was certainly a lot of drama when it comes to selections for the Dream Team now. The Dream Team episodes happened here. Edged and a gentleman that was discussed a lot in episode. Three and episode four came up in episode five. Somebody by the name of Isaiah Thomas and Michael third dead to you on camera with a microphone. He kind of said that he had no influence over the decision to omit as Thomas from that team you were in the room. You've spoken to Michael Many Times. I don't believe it watching the documentary. He say that he must be on a team or else he did not say he had no influence. He never said that he's what he said was was and I'm not trying to his spin. Doctor We said was. The decision was not my decision alone and it is. It is semantics that he says you know. I said to Rod Thorn. Who's all playing? He said the guy. You're talking about not playing. That doesn't absolve Michael of when is as name. I agree with you there but I also agree that a lot of guys on that team at that time had beef with Isaiah. It's not like the the rest of the guys on. That squad loved Isaiah and they were going to acquiesce to Michael. Because he and Michael Had Scottie. Sky To this day has has before is there. I think more than Michael Thus He had had it out with Carl Malone He. He had a lot of stuff Behind the scenes with with Magic Johnson and then you have the lingering resentment of the lingering rivalry between Larry Bird's celtics and the bad boy pistons so it's not like guys on that team. I do believe Michael when he says Gaza Team were not clamoring to play with him. The thing that you have to take into account is that they had magic Johnson. John Stocks. So don't don't don't don't no no no way sales no minutes for a on this. No that's not what I was GONNA say. That's not what I was going to say I was going to say. Is that especially in international basketball? This is what I was told all right. I don't know about basketball. All I know is what I watch on the weekends. Okay I'm not claiming that I know more than Dylan wrote. I'm not saying you probably do judge me for what I was told and next week. I'll find the exact bike in one hundred zero. Six closer told me that Joe. Dumars is the guard from that team that would have been chosen for the Dream Team because he was a defensive stopper in the back court and they had a magic Johnson and John Stockton at Point Guard. They need a defensive stopper Who was the coach of that team? Chuck Daly Daddy L. He's not going to turn around and take Joe Dumars over Isaiah Thomas on the Dream Team and had to deal with that in October when they open the ninety two ninety three season. So there's a lot of things that went into.

"I'm like is it my av setup. I'm like, no. Because I used as apple TV to watch video all the time through the same receiver. And there's no problem with what you think I was starting to think that had to be the file like that. Actually, this is somehow got uploaded Davel servers with a file where the audio is not in sync. So to test that I downloaded the audio on my MAC and tried playing it there two things there one I'm doing. A five Camac which not that old amid machine. Right. It's I think it was is that the current five K I max, still maybe it is. It's a ten eighty p movie five cannot play without dropping frames which I don't understand it. All I tried in itself. And then I tried it in the new crappy QuickTime player and both of them. They play it, but occasionally drop frames, but anyway, despite them dropping frames the audio was still in sync with the frames that were there. So it's not the file the audio isn't sinking. The file I tried to rebooting. The apple TV I try checking the audio and video settings in the apple TV. I tried doing software updates and able to you didn't need any was already up to date. This is an apple TV four K all on the latest version of everything. Playing an eye turns movie, I tried it on multiple different days. Maybe it's just weird today. Maybe there's something else going on. Could it play this movie with all is out of sync? And it got worse like farther into the movie it went. So this is a it's making me think about high might try to get a refund. Although, but every time I think about I'm like, I have no idea to do that will probably involve calling someone on the phone, and it'll be a hassle who the hell knows. So now, I have this credit copy of the Terminator with the audio out of sync. And now the next time I need to get a movie and think like, what's the least problematic way to get it. I don't know. Maybe I'll try to buy it from Amazon or something. I don't even know what my next in line is Terminator two by the way. Didn't have this problem on the apple TV because we watched our mayor to like the the next day, and I had already purchased both of them at a time. So it wasn't like I watched army to the only wasn't for the most part. Like, there was a few seconds. I'm like, wait a second. Is it? How does saying again, I'm like no that was probably actually just bet NPR. Anyway, this this is a really bothering me mostly because I don't know how to explain it. But secondarily because now I don't really have a go-to for you're in a hurry. You want the movie now, I mean, it's do you think like does? One bad occurrence here ruin this whole service because like I have had a cage problems with itunes bought content. Usually it's TV shows, but they're very occasional like the hit rate is very high like as a percentage, and so if you look at what else is out there like I don't think any of us have more experience with like Amazon purchases for digital downloads or anything like that. So we don't really know if they're actually better. I mean in this case, this isn't a problem where like apple services. This is a problem where like the file itself was probably at fault of the files up was probably messed up and like walking you're really do about that. Like, if you know service is going to be impervious to content providers. Uploading bad files. But the foul wasn't messed up. Like that'd be audio is in sync when I played it on the MAC drop frames, but the audio is in sync. All right. So I mean, there was some a problem with playback. And it's not like, it's not four K. Don't think like my TV's not forget anyway. But like, I don't understand what it's problem could have possibly been. Well, it could have been maybe maybe it's like a bit rate thing..

"These were corn squares that had a fruity filling, and then some not all the pieces had the filling inside them which seems kind of chintzy now, but it was a promotional thing at the time. And they were iced with the fillings were cherry orange in grape. This was this is only out in nineteen Ninety-three very short lived. But I remember it being very very tasty. I'd love to see hidden. Treasures come back. Yeah. We've never seen crave. Do a fruit flavor. So I definitely think that's a missed I missed niche that could really be filled. What about you? Yes. So I got I've got to I could definitely think of top of my head and the first well, you know, that Pokemon is always in the news. So I see no reason that Pokemon serial sort of from the recent turn of the century turn of the century could make a comeback as well. There's just something to seeing Pokemon in marshmallow form that is irresistible to me. It's just I was definitely from generation that's very nostalgic for polka Amman. There's multiple generations. That are now. But I don't know this one is really strikes in this chord with me, and I think that really missing like business potential, not putting an exclusive Pokemon go character, or you know, monster to catch inside of a cereal box. Now, what was the content of this cereal pieces that we talked about it was basically just like a lucky charms rip off as most license series were on that time. And yeah, still are where it was the pieces with various colored character marshmallows. But the Pokomo one's really went to the the extremes of the color limit. Whereas other ones use a couple there is really just a rainbow imagination there. Yeah. Delicious. What else? L? Let me just say one more thing about the Pokemon cereal though, lettering on the bucks cannot be to this day. So I'll say very. For my other cereal. I'm really going to pull a wild card here because waffle crisp as we remember it was recently, tragically discontinued. So you'd think that I might pick that one. But instead, I'm going to pick eggo cereal. For the for the sheer drama of it what if just months after waffle, Chris fades off shelves, you see eggo cereal, which which about a decade or so ago. I think it tried to challenge the waffle crisp, title and failed. So what if he came back triumphant setting up, you know, another waffle crisper turn in the third act to take down the tyranny of eggo cereal. Is that sheeting? No, I don't think it's cheating. It's completely legal. I I will be honest. I'm not crazy about the eggo. That's style of cereal the large. What is that? That's like a large corn peas, right? Basically like out blend. I feel like with these like larger pieces when you compare it to the classics your Catholic crunches your tricks, whatever you're never gonna fill a satisfied with a bowl full these really large pieces. You mean from a hunger standpoint, or like a a pleasing geometry standpoint geometry of consumption, I would say, yeah, you don't think that sort of the waffle cross hatched pieces better absorbed milk that way it is. Nice. I will give you that. Speaking of cross hatching, and if we've been given this incredible power. Of resenting cereal. I am going to go ahead and bring back Graham checks. I which were not not a beloved cereal came out in eighty six did not have a long run. But they were. Sweet. Sweetened wheat pieces, which we can get into this point. But that's for me. It's the best checks. We pieces, but they were sweetened on. They were served with little crispy mini Graham. Made the serial it was like really really really really really good. I'm gonna show you our little chat. But discord you a picture of the box. I just tell me that you're not hungry looking at these delicious little grand pieces, they are out of control. I mean, those colors first of all look at anything else. Let's the color the boxes. Also, absolute madness threaded read. With some blue bubble-type over purple bubble type and just these little cute little sort of rounded off teddy grams peeking out as if you know to be those Graham cracker mascots, but they're really just crackers. Amazing magic majestic site. I I might change my vote and bring back this one. Instead because we need a challenge to the grand throne..

"I gotta tell you. I'm really excited about our third segment. The third side of the empty bowl. We like to have some fun. Not so serious like the rest of the show kinda let our hair. Let our hair down a little bit. Yeah. Yeah. Dip into the milk a little bit. We were we had this idea for pitching cereals that. We would like to. Be brought back from from the great beyond that Syria. Reboots are are wild right now. Everyone's bringing back a lot of old favorites. And we thought we could pitch a couple that we would like to see comeback. I have a couple in mind. Maybe you have to the would be good. My obvious one forever. It always is. Smurfs very greatest cereal I've ever had. Oh, yeah. Was that the one that turned poop blue? Yeah. Yeah. It had a bad rap. But, you know, a lot of these I I wish I could try just like a couple of spoonfuls just to like recalibrate the goodness in my mind. Because in my mind, I've never eaten anything that tasted like. Smurfs very crutch like the closest I ever came was. Wildberry fruit. Loops the extremely delicious while very for for lives, which have there's something about the flavor of them. It's like that berry whatever the fake berry flavor is that I found so peeling they're schnauzers like I'm basically going are like thirty years ago or something like that. It's been decades eating the cereal. Obvious one. But the one might be more relatable. I would like to pitch the return of. Hidden treasures, oh in treasures was a really delicious cereal. Not unlike the best comparison is probably crave, you know, with a K sort of larger biscuits with a softer filling inside this was not a longtime cereal..

"A Graham cracker with marshmallow fluff smeared on top which is kind of the definition of ambiguously sugary. I think and sweet right exactly layers. So, yeah, I'm getting kind of loss in this in this triangle analogy, but all I'm saying is that why have cocoa with marshmallows when you can look like five feet to your left or right and see the Honey mates more cereal which adds sort of the golden grams type flakes to the mix and really just would slam dunk on it. And if the serial came to that sort of basketball like context. When serious play basketball, you could always count Dan to pick the winner of the basketball game that the cereals play. There you go put Honey made s'mores at the top of your bracket this year. The Matt a gas car cereal similar to that. Post is actually repackage. This Moore's type blend of the golden grams flakes, chocolate puffs and the plain white marshmallows. They've done as the meta Gasco virgin they'd done it as the Honey made. Now, they also released it in Canada as just smaller cereal, and it's also been released as multo meals more cereal because post owns multiple meal and therefore also the meta guest cereal. So it's it's more is all the way down. Yeah. And then, of course, Callow has more with Z the one which is actually kind of better because it removes sort of the combo paradox altogether by jamming chocolate and Graham into one piece. So that's how you do it..

"Obviously this is a slower time of year so reviews have have slowed a bit. Do you have any wanted to to to bring up? Yes. So what we wait for all? These many many new serials out. There are a couple of returning holiday cereals that are worth talking about cabin crunches Christmas crunch around for decades. Now, perhaps, you know, geological eons for all we know it's back again. Have you gotten chance to try yet? I did I got I got a box of this at the store, you know, it's your it's your typical blood. I will say though, that I feel like it was pretty generous with the with the berries that Christmas shaped berries, and it may be my imagination. But I feel like the God this is really inside baseball. But I guess it's fine for us show about serial right over thinking it to the degree, but I feel like the like hat shapes and snowman shapes can actually circulate a little better in the serial than the actual crunch berries. Can you think they're more like aerodynamic ver- cruncher dynamic? I guess is what I would say kind of they can slit between the the biscuits, or I think I've heard of you. Miss chests? They slip between them a little easier. Just slicing through them like an explorer with a machete. Yeah. Exactly, man. Do you think do you think it's better or worse to have more crunch berries? Oh better. I mean, like, I I have never had UCS berries. Because I feel like it. I would go insane with hobbies. That would be my main my main fear. To subject each sort of Greek tragic, fate of just eating all the time. Yeah, they would. Yeah. It would definitely take on some fear some H lovecraft in sorts of sort of like opening my my consciousness to I'd. Yeah. Differently mad. There's definitely a beautiful sort of yin Yang balance Christmas crunch that I think brings the best of both worlds together, and you know, brings joy to the whole world much like the holiday season it self so good job Cap'n crunch. Any other cereals wanted to to review to put on the the seriously dot com. Griddle? Yes, there's another one that kind of slipped onto shelves really silently kinda volved on the shelves. Really? Because we I saw cocoa puffs with marshmallows last Christmas as hot cocoa cocoa puffs, which obviously did not last because of the sheer tongue twisting redundancy of the name. About it's not hot. Can't do it. Please stop do know. Microwave? Your cocoa puffs. Hot cocoa blizzard this year, Mike. You're embarrassing yourself. That's a frozen ice cream tree. It's just like eating a frozen white castle slider outside of an in and out burger. But anyway, we I saw cocoa with marshmallows the Christmas time, and now they're returning this year just sort of in the the D seasonal is form. And just straight cocoa puffs with marshmallows. It was released in like, the big bag form is where I I saw it. But now, I'm finally seeing it in boxes as well. So you wouldn't really think twice about this combo said it out loud to you in passing. This could be the type of Syria. You would believe has been around for decades. But this is the first time in my at least recent memory that it's happened. But much like the frosted flakes with marshmallows. I kind of have a problem with the textural contrast here, not even to speak yet of the flavor combo. I just feel that an airy corn cereal and airy marshmallows do not pair. Well, I think we've talked about this before having me. Yeah. I it is. I completely agree. I feel like it's makes it really unsubstantial. I think you could I also think that that size of marshmallow is too big. I like a lot of these really chunky marvette. So I think it's like too much. Yeah. Definitely. Because obviously, obviously the textural problems we will documented here, but the flavor combo here also kind of irks me because in my mind s'mores as a flavor combo is like a sacred triangle only some parts works together on their own. So if you have you can have Graham. And chocolate without marshmallow because that's pretty much like a candy bar. Right. I don't think that any of the other ingredients can stand with marshmallow alone. You have a sweet flavor and a better chocolate sweet flavor or you just have you know?.

"I feel like it appeals to, you know, rational minded adults who are more persuaded in commercials by like cereal factory workers in real life. Like Honey bunches of oats does persuaded by that then a fictional sea-captain? Like, maybe you and I are right fair enough. So I think we just have to let them do their own thing in the different world that they're working in diverse moons in every once in a while and appreciate it as outsiders. I'm really excited about this next one. This is the kind of serial news that I actually held my phone up. So my wife could stare at it and ignore me. But I was very excited. Yeah. This is a strange one. I'm not going to a hundred percent confirm this because I don't want to be caught in sort of an elaborate cereal leak or a fake serial league. So to speak that before it has actually I got a photo of a freedom crunch box, which was a very patriotic Cap'n crunch cereal that we predicted was gonna come out for independence day. But it turns out that there was a script concept, and you know, I had to retread my ground and sort of back on that scam. But no, it's really good that that when didn't come out probably. But in this case, we have a very trustworthy source. Dunkin donuts and post teaming us teaming up to bring us caramel makihata cereal that is wait for it caffeinated. Yeah. This is wild this is wild. Yeah. We've seen a coffee Syria before general mills released a mocha crunch cereal. Not too far back, but it's never been caffeinated. Probably for obvious reasons. Just because of you know, how many kids are in the cereal. So I am a little worried about you know, what floodgates or milk gates? This actually opens will we see like monster energy, drink cereal. Five hour energy slip in there. We got to really be careful about how far we let this go. There's a searched for caffeinated cereal. And the only response is think geek selling captain, Muslims spas -troit's. A hundred eighty milligrams of caffeine per ball. Of course, if you click on it, it is a an April Fool's gag valley. Not extant I'm interested in this because I feel like caffeine in my experience has a flavor like if you ever had like caffeinated gum or you five our air. Jay when you're getting that like he'd have caffeine. There's different like taste to it. Yeah. Kinda hits you like in the back of the throat almost dreaded. Yeah. I think if they layer enough sugar on it. They can probably get out of that unless they're doing some sort of caffeinated glaze. I don't really know where the caffeine is going to enter the process, but posts been doing some pretty wild collaborations lately. So I kind of trust them to be getting back on their feet after the devastating honeycomb toll. Any other cereals? We got one more that came from the same release rather to more flavors of pebbles, actually, it's tropical fruit and strawberry. Banana pebble cereals are allegedly coming out from post which maybe around the same time as the caffeinated cereal. It's probably too early to say, but pebbles is another one of those cereal. Brands at tends to just come out of nowhere with these unexpected ones. They've had a sugar cookie pebbles in the past sometimes they just kinda recover them for the holidays. It's kind of a mixed bag. But these are some some interesting choices excited to see what happens. Yeah. These look absolutely delicious. That tropical thing is not something that I have. Scene. I think very often in Syria flavors, especially if they're going for like a coconut kind of vibe. Yeah. Yes. So may see a lot. Well, if you look at the fruit blend on the box, it looks like it's supposed to be bananas pineapples and mangoes, and I've never seen a pineapple Serio. There's been one trader Joe's, mango cereal, and obviously there's been an cereals, but to take all that compounding level of rarity and put it into one. This is kind of like a one of a kind cereal, genetically speaking..

"A lot of exciting happenings in the world of cereal you've been. Oh practically sweating into. My golden grams is just this is the time of year that I call the opening of the milk gates, so to speak because it's probably the second hardest part of the year as a as the on the ball, cereal journalist, or at least I aspire to be, but this is the time of year when all the major cereal companies announce the products that they're going to be releasing at the start of next year for some reason for some secretive marketing reason than I'm sure none of us will ever find out all cereals or the bulk of them for the year tend to come out near the start of the year. And then they'll trickle out in reappear more seasonally or just randomly throughout. But in order to write about all of them. You know, I've really had do keep my spoon to the grindstone to keep up and to prepare for, you know, the actual star twenty nineteen when it'll be even higher because I have to hunt them down. So I got a lot of things to talk about. We have a lot. There's a lot of new cereals coming out of the pipelines returning cereals. Let's just let's just get to it. With a section. We call. News. So I chocolate toast crunch is coming back. Yes, we're we're in the midst of a lot of reboots lately. But there's really this sort of toast crunch dynasty going on like some sort of miniature soap opera, we're all the flavors. Some of them seem like they're disappearing like blueberry toast crunch. Feels like it might be on the way out. But then there's always new ones coming back sugar, cookie toast crunch. Just got back from the grave, and let me say I got that box of that for my birthday. My wife called me about birthday, and what doesn't light that cereal is infinitely edible that serial cannot keep my hands off of it. You actually boxes of cereal on your birthday. I think she knew that it was the the time of the time of year that I would let myself indulge if it was a gift I would be forced to that's true. It's very good point. So we ought sugar cookie. Toast crunch coming back and now chocolate toast crunch. Could is coming back as well. Which is kind of an interesting reboot because I never really saw having the same appeal at least cult appeal as maybe frosted toast crunch peanut butter toast crunch. But someone out there must be sending general mills enough. Very well, punctuated emails to get them to bring back shocked toast crunch as well. So we have that to look forward to from that family of cereals. I'm sure it's delicious. I do take unbridged with the fact that that's not a thing. Chocolate, toast, is is not a fait. You know, I never really thought about it that way it's very irritating. All these other cereals, I can get my way there, you know. But this this is a bridge too far. Now, if they hold on hold on you're saying that sugar cookies on toast is a reasonable thing in reality. No. But I that's a good point. I would I would buck against that. But I could argue that like sugar cookies are thing. Sure. I mean, I guess you could get a cookie cutter shaped like a piece of bread that might be with with they're going for now. See if they wanted to do. A chocolate hazelnut. Genius. Yeah. Now, Dan, maybe a little too far. What else is what else is going on? So we got something exciting coming from Honey, bunches of oats, or at least. So I've seen in my sort of investigative web crawling. There's an apple caramel crunch, Honey, bunches of oats. Now, this is a brand that I'm kind of silently infatuated with because they feel like that that quite guy in the back of the fight seeing that, you know, is going to do something cool because every time they just come out of nowhere with this new flavor that you don't really expect. But it just tends to knock it out of the park the with chocolate Honey bunches, they did it with maple pecan Honey bunches. And now I trust them to do it again with apple caramel Honey bunches because that's just not a flavor we see almost ever in the cereal. I cannot get myself excited about new Honey bunches of it's it's weird. It's like, I'm sure we good. It's just not. Yeah. I mean, I kind of get it..

"Saw that I only needed ninety five k to retire each year. And since I had that I could retire anytime. I wanted running the numbers and having a specific plan that was measurable made me see that. So I retired. And I've been loving it ever since what I missed, admittedly. My lack of a formal plan was not a complete disaster. After all I did retire at fifty two with the ability to live off the income. My assets generated it's hard to moon too much about that. But most people do not have the finances. We have there's not nearly the margin for error. We had. That's why I'm writing this post to encourage everyone reading this to develop complete smart financial goals that said we were impacted. Here's what I lost by not having a smart plan. One. We spent too much since we weren't shooting for a specific goal. We. Spent what we wanted. It wasn't extravagant. But it was money. We could have saved or invested a lot earlier looking back. There was a lot of waste that really didn't benefit us much to. We didn't save enough because we didn't have a specific time we were shooting for retirement. We didn't push our savings as much as we could have we made a very good income which allowed us to save a ton for sure but not save with intention again. We were sloppy with just a bit of planning. We could have saved a bit more and retired much earlier and three we didn't allocate investments to generate income. I did invest in real estate the move that eventually made my early retirement possible. But I didn't buy as much of it as I should have. I also put too much money into retirement accounts. Yes, these are accessible before fifty nine and a half. But it's not convenient to do. So a plan would have had me saving more after tax in a Roth IRA, for example to have more available post retirement, these three mistakes caused by only having a. Vague goal. Kept me from retiring much earlier than I did five years lost. There were several times. I could have retired earlier if I had a specific plan. Namely, if I had a plan, I would have bought more real estate and retired in twenty eleven if I had a plan I would have saved more aggressively and been able to retire in twenty thirteen and if I had a plan I would have seen that I had enough to retire in early twenty fifteen when I was fired in short not having a plan meant, I didn't know exactly what I was aiming for. I was lost because I had no map or at best in incomplete. One. It cost me a few years again. It's hard to boohoo about my results. But consider the implications for the average family without a plan. They could lose those five years to and likely even more for them. It could mean the difference between retiring at sixty five versus seventy or seventy five. Those are some critical years to lose that late in life..
