"And the bengals really need help getting to the quarterback this past season so the bengals looked to turn to buffalo and the bulls six foot three to forty eight pound malcolm. Coons around six. He's improved a sack. Total every year for the bulls and also tacked nine sacks in two thousand nineteen and her top fifteen. Pass rush grade from plo from pro football focus and even with the short year. I think buffalo had a couple of games cancelled still got three sacks so might be a nice piece round seven number one ninety seven india's tie fry fogel up and down year this year. Three game stretch on november. Twenty five receptions. Five hundred sixty yards six touchdowns once the starting quarterback went down with injury in two games in december three catches forty five yards. So a borough out the helm i mean. Hey that might be a nice pick and the last one round seven pick number one ninety nine and this pick is from detroit lions and john kreese says. Go back to defense with cairo's tonga. Six foot four three hundred twenty one pounds. He finished the season with the twenty twenty season. Excuse me he finished the two of two seasons. Wow he's he's ancient must be good if he's still playing after a lot of years in this twenty twenty season thirty six tackles two and a half tackles for loss and two and a half sacks three quarterback sacks five pass breakups a forced fumble so type adele of developmental project. That's craves maybe he's a nice pick. And that is the end of the draft list for cincinnati. I still think offensive line has to be met up here. Get your whole fixed on the defense now. There's no reason why this bengals team should be at the bottom of everything. No it's too much talent on this team. I know the. Afc north is rough. But there's no reason why bengals should have another double digit loss season in two thousand twenty one just.

"Tuning in our final thirty minutes here at aiming NFL draft coverage. And as Mark Melissa says only four picks to go pretty amazing how quickly it has flown, and we are waiting now back to back picks by the Seattle Seahawks. So there are still some drama here as we wrap up. We have the Rams and the patriots, of course, met in the Super Bowl just a couple of months ago. It feels like it was ages ago. But now just a couple of months ago, and can I drop a piece of knowledge on you hear this kind of nerdy stuff? I always like to learn Michigan football just tweeted this no school has had players selected in more consecutive NFL drafts than the big blow eighty one straight years from nineteen thirty nine to two thousand nineteen. Wow. Eighty-one straight years them. Wolverines had a player drafted. I didn't even know there wasn't NFL draft nine of Michigan's going to hang their hat on something to hang their hat on. Right. We've had a lot of Alabama. We've got a lot of Clemson. I also saw clemson's athletic department put out a tweet that no no defensive line has ever had three guys selected in the same NFL draft. They're touting the D line of the national champs, but certainly Alabama with its fair share of guys as always we've had Notre Dame. We've had Alabama state. We've we've had tight ends of a little bit of everything except we haven't had a whole lot of wide. Receivers are. We have not link. It's been about the big boys up front. That's it. Offense of line to an extent a lot of defensive linemen have gone tonight. We knew it going into it, Amy as we chat about the lead up and going through the entire pre-draft process. That was a lot of defensive lineman edge rushers interior guys. And that's where the draft is played. You looked at two special linebackers. They both went where you expected them to go to inside guys filled needs for the Steelers and the Tampa Bay. Buchan ears respectively. We've had three quarterbacks go in the first round here with maybe Daniel Jones be the biggest surprise sixth overall to the jives that's been intriguing first round. But I won't expect expected column. Urda go number one overall he did. But it's been a lot about the big boys up front. We'll see what the down to their final thirty seconds now of this first of two consecutive picks. Now, they just made that move to trade away. Frank Clark to the Kansas City Chiefs. They obviously lost Earl Thomas as well that defense has gone through a major overhaul. And I really think that what's P Caroline's done with the hawks last season then getting to the playoffs one of his best coaching jobs ever. But they still do need help on the defensive side of the ball. They led the league in rushing last year. They've re-signed Russell Wilson. So it seemed like they're all set on the office of side of the ball. The defense though is been this turnstile over the last few months has so and it's going to be difficult to replace a guy like Frank Clark with. Sinn here with the twenty ninth or thirtieth overall pick they could certainly use defensive help defensive line help offense of line as well. I mean, Russell Wilson's able make up a lot of deficiencies along that offense of line Amy with his ability to allude the Pash rush break. A move the pocket. Lengthened outplays convert first downs with long runs. They also use an investment in that offense of line. We've talked about teller a lot Cody Ford as you mentioned last segment big tackle coming out of Oklahoma. Could be a way that the Seattle Seahawks. Go with one of these first two. With this first of two first round picks back to back. What that was one thing. That was really interesting to me as you watch the Seahawks morph over the course of last year. Now, they were a team that was up and down. They would lose two games and win to lose two games to win two games. But their running game developed in such a major way at the end of the season a little bit. Like what happened with the Baltimore Ravens though. Of course, they made a quarterback change. But the hawks actually ended up leading the league in rushing twenty five hundred sixty yards that they had in two thousand eighteen Chris Carson, the major reason why great so. Yeah, they could always use another offense lineman. But they did a great job with what they had and the more that they use that run game the more effective. Russell Wilson became because he wasn't having to run and throw and he wasn't have to run for his life necessarily. And so I like the way their offense ended up just defense. It's now just names that your name tags here on the Seattle Seahawks defense because nobody knows each other. You know, what a guy like Abram who went to the Oakland Raiders certainly would have worked for the Seattle Seahawks. Who want a couple of picks prior twenty-seventh overall? They're still looking certainly for safety out Cam chancellor's careers over. Earl Thomas is now gone having left in free agency. A lot of those familiar names. You look at the Seattle Seahawks. Play the point that you're making Amy peak CARA last year did his best coaching job of any year. Even those teams that went to the Super Bowl the one that he the victory that they had MetLife stadium against Denver Broncos. It was a remarkable coaching job last year. What pekao cow was able to do with that team. And as you mentioned how that team got better and better and better as the season went along. We're still waiting on the Seahawks pick at number twenty nine so quickly. Let's hear from Ed Oliver had a chance to stop and talk with our open a Westwood One. He's pretty confident in his abilities moving forward to the NFL probably wanted to..

We lost somebody here on the ESPN side back to the NFL is Jason Witten has decided that he is going to leave the Monday night football booth, and he is heading back to the Dallas Cowboys signed a one year contract with Dallas worth little over three million dollars could be worth up to five million dollars in incentives. And while the you take a look at his production. It first of all and impressive career even without going back. The eleven time pro bowler two-time, all pro tight end. So those two players still could not replace what? They got from Jason Witten in two thousand seventeen so he decides he wants to go back to the NFL because the NFL combine is going on. We get to hear from his head coach Jason Garrett and what he thinks of Jason Witten returning a great player.

"ESPN radio and the ESPN app. I'm Gabe nights. So and this is why anytime any player maybe holds on a little bit past their prime. I don't have a problem with it. This is all these guys have known more or less for large majority of their life pursuing the dream than living the dream. And granted Jason Garrett did have you know, the plan after he was playing and had a great opportunity on Monday night football a year ago. But if you still have that passion and love for the game and you wanna play, and I just ran over the numbers mean his his numbers is led the last time he played sixty three receptions, five hundred sixty yards five touchdowns, nothing earth shattering. But if you still feel like you can play and you want to play go for it. Good for him. But he has that opportunity. If it's something he loves to go after and that's kind of what Jason Garrett said that passion for the game is still there. And the passion for the game is still there for Antonio Brown. We still don't know where the Steelers wide receiver is going to end up the saga just constantly going on with the Steelers and with combine going on as I mentioned coaches GM's available to talk and Kevin Colbert earlier during the NFL combine saying that. Well, we we are we're looking to trade and Tonio we've had some teams reach out, but they're only going to make a deal if the deal is right for both sides. So the Steelers clearly wants to make sure that they're getting what they perceive fair value for Antonio Brown. But some of the what has gone on with this also deals with Kevin Colbert's comments about Ben Rothlisberger in empowering his quarterback to be a leader in that locker room. And he. Add some comments trying to prop up Ben Rothlisberger. "Playing football. And I think the reason he did is because the opportunity to be the lead analyst on Monday night football is too good for him to pass up. But all my discussions with him during that process, you could tell deep down this is hard for him to do. I think he's still felt that he had some meat on the bone. He's still loved to play. I don't think that ever waned his passion for the game. And I just think he listened to that and went through the process, and they get a really good experience as an announcer this year. But I think he's still wanted to play football were excited to have them back. "The NFL news. It seems like it's always just constantly spinning through. And yesterday, the big news outside of the measurable happening at the NFL combine. ESPN Monday night football analysts and former Cowboys tight end has decided that he no longer wants to be a former Cowboys tight end. He is returning to Dallas on a one year contract worth a little bit more than three million dollars can make as much as five million dollars with incentives in the contract is he wants to go back to football after spending a year route and being in the Monday night football booth. He's decided to return to Dallas for another season for a seventeenth career season. He's had a run you take a look at his raw numbers from his playing career two time. All pro eleven time pro bowler, and he was incredibly durable. He did not miss a single game from two thousand four through two thousand seventeen did not miss a single game in there. Clearly the production diminished over the years. His last one thousand yard receiving season was in two thousand twelve and his last time that he played sixty three receptions for five hundred sixty yards. But that's still just I it. It's a lot more than what they were able to get out of the tight end position this past year the top tight end receiver for the Cowboys in two thousand eighteen Blake Charleston had twenty seven receptions for three hundred seven yards. Jeff Suame had twenty six receptions for two hundred forty two yards. Those were the top two tight ends for the Cowboys. So it's not like they were getting a ton of production out of that position. Apparently he missed enough where he wanted to go back and the great part is the NFL combine going on. Which means head coaches are available. General managers are available. So we got to hear what Jason Garrett his old slash new coach thinks of his decision to return to the NFL. Oh, it's been a great player for us for a long time. There's been a great leader on our football team for a number of years. And you know, it's just great to have them back. I think it was a it was a challenging decision for him to to stop.

I say now Giants Stadium. I been the giant stadium at thank we're gonna PTI boys and girls in today's episode. Cam Newton seem stuck Justin fields may be on the move. And James harden is definitely taking steps back. Lots of but we begin today with the New Orleans Saints speeding the Carolina Panthers last night even Carolina but scoring only twelve points while doing so that is the fewest points of saints of scored in a win since nineteen ninety eight. And by the way, that was Carolina's sixth straight loss will this game. Give you more or less confidence in the saints more, Tony more. I mean scores come down space on a football field titans pressure is up. I mean, all the things that contribute as we have seen. Now, I'm not gonna just say his defense even. Oh, you know. I love what happens at the end of the year. When defense is start to lock in on teams. But no drew Brees is not going to go around throwing for five hundred sixty yards in December as easily as he might have in September October. So I think it's good to see the saints for them. Grind it out and play highly pressurized games against division opponent where the division opponents motivated. I think these are all good signs for the saints. And I appreciate everything you're saying, and I could not disagree with you. Why it gives me far less confidence? They scored twelve points. I don't wanna hear that. It's the vision game twelve point stinks. What makes it worse for me is to the point about you breeze? This is the third straight game in which he's only had one touchdown pass. If you look at Sean Payton and drew Brees and the offense of New Orleans it is predicated on touchdown passes. I'm sorry. I look at four teams that a month ago. We would have said probably where the final four the saints. The Rams the chiefs. The patriots all. All of them in the last week or so to me including this game been with the win have taken a step back. Well, they haven't taken a step back. They've come back because other people are grabbing and grabbing at their jerseys. If you will Carolina holding them back, it doesn't matter because these are desperate times. I mean, these things tied to you recognize that you honor there's some basketball would happy as in April. Okay. We'll same thing happens football. I know it's not necessarily right there between the the one though Jason girl would say, but you gotta make that catch. You have to make that catch moving on though. Some news we found out today on the subject of injuries that Leonard fournette, Jacksonville, Jaguars star running back will not play on Sunday. When the Jaguars visit the Dallas Cowboys, there will be TJ Yeldan show the former Alabama running back will start in place of four, four net. The fourth overall pick year after Zeke Elliott was fourth overall pick. Certainly both prolific running back. Certainly both with incredible collegiate resumes, but Leonard four net will not play on Sunday against the Jaguars. So I mean. I mean, you take what you can get, but this has been a day. Sorry about that. The on Paul back up there for a brief second, sometimes juggle things a lot of self producing going on here. There's been a lot of discussion today on Monday in the fallout, the hangover, if you will, from losing the Houston Texans. And over time people talking about Preska people talking about Jason, Garrett people talking about the couch, wide receivers as a whole. It has not been a good day, and I was curious, and I went and I looked at this because there's been so much talk, especially with Jerry Jones said, following the game about a number one receiver. Obviously, the Andre Hopkins toasted the Dallas Cowboys defense was a big reason why the Texans one was a big reason why the Texans able to pull off that last-second feelable to win the game. You think about it. The Cowboys obviously are. Are. Number one receiver lists they are void of number one receiver that goes without saying the Cowboys chose to build their offense. This way, they chose to make things Dak friendly. And I was curious. I went back and loves the NFL's top receivers. Granted, there is one of the football game to be played tonight. Michael Thomas and then Orleans Saints concern, make his case to be in the top three here, but the Andre Hopkins. The aforementioned Hopkins has five hundred ninety four yards through five games this season Minnesota's Adam Phelan has five hundred eighty nine yards. Julio Jones of the Atlanta. Falcons has five hundred sixty four yards. So all three of these receivers are over five hundred fifty yards over five hundred sixty yards even all on their own through five games. But it's also interesting to note if you're watching the show, you.

"Everybody we got an ice mixed, grab bag as always you're on this Friday show here in Los Angeles. Last night won't talk about entertaining. You. Wanna talk about entertainment, man. We got it on Thursday night football. I was there last night and it was lit. It was a great football environment football in Los Angeles. It certainly does help to have an exciting team in the Los Angeles Rams bring some fannies in the seats. But the fans in the seats last night that arrived early and was loud throughout were wearing purple. There were a ton of Minnesota Vikings fans in the crowd last night in the Los Angeles Coliseum. There were skull chance before the game. There were skull chance during the game. There were skull chance when it looked like there was a chance for Kirk cousins to try and tie that football game late. It was a track, meet the. First half of this game saw five hundred sixty yards of total offense. Not a single sack, not a single turnover and in a game. Interestingly enough that had both quarterback's throw for more than four hundred twenty yards and no interceptions. First time that's ever happened in the history of the National Football League. Third, highest combined passer rating his single game of a buck thirty nine and a half since the merger since the Super Bowl, don't worry. I'm not burning all of my old gen stats right here. This was a heck of an old gen stat night in terms of the pinball machine that broke out between these two teams on Thursday night football to kick off week four. But there were zero roughing. The passer calls not a single one. That's true. Now both quarterbacks last night as I just statistically pointed out or so on point that they got rid of the ball quickly. Yes, they were firing. There was a lot of play faking enrolling out on both quarterbacks parts last night, but there were eighty three pass attempts last night, and the pass rushes were beginning to get home in the second half. There is no doubt. In my mind, there were hits in the pocket last night. I saw them now I saw them as the ball was released. And then there was so much downfield action. I was not keeping my I on whether some of these could have been considered late or bodyweight situations. But all I know is I'm hoping that whatever conversation the competition committee had on Wednesday night and was revealed by the football operations crew on Thursday. Was figured out in time for week four. Now we may see more over the weekend, but there were eighty three pass attempts last night. It was a total track meet and the home of the eighty four Olympics in that building last night and it was great..

"They still got some of those horses over there who can get after you and make some place so l. just going to be tough still. A lot of other games, Alabama goes dole miss, and it's convenient in the joke on the the pause lines, are there to make fun of the ole miss defense. But I mean they do offense, Alabama. I think it's averaging five hundred sixty yards a game and ole miss is averaging giving up five hundred yards a game. So it's going to be an interesting game can join Tom move. Can they scored enough points against Alabama, but I don't think that's going to happen. Alabama is going to have to have something form, but they're still going to be points to school. But I think the real thing is man. How good has my man look? I mean he he, he's throwing the ball all over the field to is is doing a great job distributor football. I think everybody expect him to play good because he played good at that second half at national championship game. But the way he came on and played first game is Louisville was pretty exciting and it's it's going to be interesting. I think more people are excited to watch Alabama's offense now, right? To defend somebody it's it's all been about the defense now they gotta office to match it. So DJ what? What's your situation with? Jalen hurts. It's one of those that we, you wonder, because last week he played and you wonder, okay, they got this new reg or rule. If possibly if he sits out four games and he can leave and go somewhere else and still have a couple of years of eligibility. But I still believe Jalen hurts if they really good quarterback, you don't become twenty six in two by just being an average quarterback, and I know you're jet good defenses and all that kind of stuff. But Jalen hurts is a really good quarterback and it's gonna be interesting to see how it plays out because if something happens to two and then you gotta know a guy who's there. And I think when he went down on that first series against Louis boy was like, wow, okay. Well, I'm glad you got Jalen, but we'll see what happens if it doesn't play out the way he wants. If he does go those four games, we decided lead, did it tell was telling or did it tell you anything that he played against Arkansas state, which is, let's be honest, nobody game or if he hadn't played then, does it look like, hey, it's all about me. Yeah, I think it was if he hadn't played, it will tell more about what he's thinking. And if he's had a conversation with that staff as he going in and said, hey, if I'm not going to be really a part of what you guys expect, if I'm the guy who's going to be the backup, and we have a clear start or not the co starter of plan to through there. But if I'm a guy who respect it'd be the backup, then, hey, I'm gonna sit out and that will tell a lot more about Jalen hurts and what he expects to do going forward. But him going out and playing is himself saying, hey, I want to be here talking here about a lot of things. I want to go back last week for a second because there was such an expectation that South Carolina would challenge Georgia and they didn't. What happened? I, it was one of those type of situations where you realize that South Carolina just wasn't there yet. You thought much champ would get that that defense going. It'd be rhythm have just as many athletes as Georgia will, but you could see the speed difference. You can see the physicality difference from Georgia watching this ball game, and it seemed like when got South Carolina hills, it was over and done with and even you look. Back in the first half, Jake building throws the ball thirty one times in the first half, whatever that happens. That means you're one dimensional enjoyed, took some away from you that you thought you were able to do. And I think South Carolina's Libya further behind Jordan and a lot of people thought going into that boy, where's Georgia though?.

"In the box for zeke elliot to get the run game listen i know we're making this about dak and understandably so but the cowboys offense is going to especially with the departures revolve around zeke even more so than it has and my question is because while jason witten said correct he wasn't the flashiest i thought it was funny he said i did it on grit but he was in a very good even in your fifteen run blocking tight end like he was very good at that and are you going to trust or rookie tight end to be able to do that are you going to trust jeff swain to be able to do that when we know teams even when you add bryan out there we're putting eight men in the box they're particularly going to do it a valid hearns your most vertical threat as a wide receiver how much is that departure going to hurt with the cowboys do best which is mal you up front i know their offense lineman will still be there in tyron smith should be healthier than last year but that is that to me is going to be harder to replace than five hundred sixty yards and five touchdowns in the passing game that jason witten is gonna leave behind that to me is a big part of this as well it is not the perfect setup for a guy going into his third year let's go with a jared gulf and not in he's going into year three but looks out he struggled in your number one and what they did from offense coordinator standpoint the athletes that they put around them they went out and got a left tackle from cincinnati they put more talent this is where i say ninety nine percent of the players in nfl our system players man you need a good system but you need some talent to say what would you rather have a good system or town gimme the town all right now i need a system i guess i'll acquiesced to that yeah we need but man you need talented players and they have talented players in the bops have talented tailback in the backfield they do not have as much talent outside so who's it affect the most.
