"five fights" Discussed on SI Boxing with Chris Mannix

"Yeah, I love Williams a beta I've loved him ever since I saw him for the first time fight on that ring city series during the pandemic and you know He really has come a long way since then I mean earned his place in the Golden Boy stable with that win over Tana Hara Tana Hara at that point was You could argue he was the a side of that fight He was the prospect at that time Williams a paid it went in and and beat him down pretty badly He's only done great things since then I do I do think Williams a paid as good as he is is Vulnerable to one specific type of fighter. I think the paid is vulnerable to power counter punches or guys that can punch in between punches We haven't seen Zepeda in against those guys yet a Tana Hara can't punch Renee Alvarado can't punch not at 135 anyway Jojo Diaz not a puncher, you know, even mercito has to not a puncher he hasn't been in with that guy, but that type of guy and You know good for Golden Boy for you know Leak guiding him in the way that they have but I do want to see what happens when Zepeda goes in with a counter puncher because he leaves himself a little bit open their core I don't know how much you you were picking up on that during the fight or how much you you buy into that but You know when I see Zepeda just unfurl, you know, eight ten twelve punch combinations, which are just you know majestic to watch at times not to get too carried away, but He's open and if he goes up against a guy Let's use your Vonta Davis as an example and that might be the most extreme extreme because he's probably the best Counter puncher not just in the lighter divisions, but all the boxing when it comes to power. I think he has a problem there I do I think he's gonna have to learn To be a little more defensive because when I like has to a couple of times during that fight I saw him clip Zepeda with counter shots. And if you're getting clipped by has to punch that's one thing if you're going in with a Gervonta Davis a Shakur Stevenson if you move up and wait, maybe Ryan Garcia could be in his future that's something you've got to be wary of I mean how significant a a I don't call it an issue because he's undefeated and he's dominating but you know How much of that is a kind of weakness in his game at this point? I mean that that is his weakness and that is that's the conceit that he's allowing here because if you are gonna throw 120 punches your hands aren't gonna be anywhere near your face most of the time That's just it. You can't really have it both ways now. Can he make some adaptations? Maybe carry his hands a little bit higher You know dip the volume down a little bit places punches a little bit more Maybe you know, maybe he can you know that the Williams the pay to the fought? Jojo Diaz when the bulk of his punches that he was throwing were jabs That's that's a little more defensively responsible version of willing to pay that but I think against Hesta He decided that he didn't have to do that at all I mean when you look at the the numbers that he was putting up that round three in particular Landing 79 punches in a round and I think 69 of them were power punches That's that's a full-on selling out for volume and power and it's a lot of fun to watch But yeah, of course, I mean so paid it does get in and he got hit by Hesta but he was just able to walk through it and He showed a good chin in doing that but we have seen Williams have paid a buzz before so there is a little bit of vulnerability but you know, I want to go back to that performance because it it That wasn't just a guy who was retreating to the ropes and just was there to be hit That was a pretty good fighter in Brazil has to who was throwing back and was landing good sharp shots And Zepeda was able to throw nonetheless So that was that's that's not you know, looking at the the undercard, you know Darius Folger and fought like Ricardo Luna and I think you texted me afterwards something about Luna. I'm with Ricardo Yeah, right, like that's that's a pun. You know, I've seen some people say yeah, it's impressive But you know, he was in there with a punching bag. We're seeing oh Hesta's not a punching bag He had ideas. He just ran out of real estate He was throwing punches Mercedo Hester was still throwing like 60-plus punches around but he was still getting doubled up by this guy This is an extreme physical test for anyone But yeah, I think that when when he gets in there with someone like Gervonta Davis or a Shakur Stevenson You know guys that have pop and could counter that's when things will get truly interesting for him No, I spent a little bit of time with us a couple of weeks ago at wildcard I know we had a plan like he and Marvin Samodio had I thought a Reasonable game plan for this fight. They knew they were gonna have to punch with him They knew to have to counter with him Yeah, it's just unfortunately that you know He has to just does not have the power to get the attention of a Williams to pay it And I thought it was it was notable early on you see Hesta smiling and laughing when when Zepeda is throwing punches I think Jojo said something during the broadcast where he said Some of the extent of you know Zepeda is not the most powerful guy in the world But it's just an accumulation of punches like, you know, the first, you know, 10-15 shots You might say this guy's never a lot of pop all of a sudden you're getting hit with like a hundred two hundred three hundred Within three or four rounds and you know, your night is is ultimately over so let's talk about the future for Williams a paid it because There's some pie-in-the-sky stuff out there golden boys talking about Tank Davis. That's not gonna happen Let's let's just be real here. Tank Davis is not fighting Williams a paid at any point time over the next six to twelve months Williams a paid in his team. They want Devin Haney I am not uncertain there Cory to say that Williams a paid it is not in the plans of Devin Haney in the Near or perhaps even long-term future Devin Haney is at 140 pounds. He is aligning himself with matchroom He's got a plan there to collect titles. Williams a paid a is not on the radar of Devin Haney So now you have to start thinking about what the best path is and look it's easy to throw out Shakur Stevenson as an opponent and I think that would be an excellent fight but if I'm golden boy the first thing I'm doing this week is I am lobbying the IBF hard because Williams a paid a is ranked number six in the IBF rankings the IBF for whatever it's worth there a Sanctioning body that kind of goes by the letter of its laws right like part of that's because they got rated back in the 1990s But there are a sanctioning body that does follow the rules so the top two contenders for that hundred and thirty five pound title, which is currently occupied by Devin Haney, but Devin is not going to be going back down to 135 to defend it It's it's available it's available to be had if I'm golden boy I am pushing hard to get Williams a paid a in one of those top two slots right now The number one spot is vacant. The number two spot is held by George kambosis and if I'm Golden boy, I'm thinking kambosas are he's pretty good But he's another guy without a lot of power and that's another guy's a paid a would have a great chance of just out Volume punching over the course of that fight So my advice to golden boy would be to aggressively lobby the people at the IBF To move the paid a from number six up to number two or even number one There are obviously some guys in between there but like he saw Cruz is between there and he saw Cruz is not gonna fight You know George kambosis He's gonna most likely get a shot at tank Davis maxi Hughes is there and I think we'd all like to see maxi Hughes Get another opportunity at some point because of how the kambosis fight went But you know it's a paid it with this win should leapfrog him. I think golden boy should be aggressive with this man I think getting a shot at the IBF version of the lightweight title and a shot at fighting George kambosis is the best chance the pay to can get a belt and if he gets that belt a Lot of other things start to open up for him at 135 you can start making cross-promotional deals You can start talking about a shakur Stevenson fight for a lot more money I think the focus should be on getting that IBF title and getting into a position to fight George kambosis Yeah, I mean, that's that would be a fantastic plan if they can enact that and you're right. I mean without a title None of these other big names have any reason to want to fight Williams the painter for one, you know He doesn't bring a ton to the table economically right now But also he's not a fun style to step in there against if you don't have something that you're going to win For for your efforts So but again like thinking of those names Chris like you have to like some paid-as-chances Of picking up a title if those are the types of guys that he would have to get through You know if you put them in there with an Esau Cruz or a maxi Hughes or a George kambosis I like some paid-as-chances in all those fights, you know, and you know I don't love making predictions because I never know whose fight I'm gonna call and they might call me afterwards and say hey You said I was gonna lose to someone but listen I get that all the time. Don't worry. Yeah I I wouldn't think you were out of line for picking Zepeda against any of those guys or even feeling confident in his Chances against any of those guys pretty in and kimbosis included so if they can make that happen then yeah things can start to open up for him if he holds a title belt because One thing Zepeda will have behind him again He doesn't have the the name recognition as of yet But he is that fan base is starting to grow you're you're seeing when he fights that like the timeline is starting to light Up a little bit. I frankly was surprised by the crowd that he brought out in Los Angeles and you know you and I have been to many fights at that commerce casino and Sometimes you'll see the crowd kind of dissipate because there are a lot of local ticket sellers and people will leave after their fighters have fought Everyone stuck around for William Zepeda. He was someone that the masses that were there wanted to see So I think that he is developing a following that those types of fighters will develop fans want to see them Get a crack at someone and fans love volume punchers like that because people feel that volume and pressure is kind of an antidote for The the slick boxers out there. They want to see guys like that test someone and if Zepeda can pick up a title He's gonna have the momentum that he needs to get even bigger fights Yeah Just to clarify women's beta right now number six in the IBF rankings maxi Hughes as I said number five He saw Cruz number four, but see Lomachenko at number three But he's indicated he's done for the rest of the calendar year and kambosis at number two with the number one spot currently vacant you've got a You got to make that your priority in my opinion. If you're golden boy, you've got to get him a title there There are other opportunities you look at the WBO rankings and you know Zepeda is right there as well but a couple more people ahead of him including the guy that you You call this fight. Angel Fierro is up there in the top five the WBO rankings But I just think Zepeda has got to look to get that IBF title shot You get that get an opportunity to beat George Campos a tough fight. Campos is good But again doesn't have fight changing power and that's the ant that's the kryptonite I think to William Zepeda as he gets into with these guys down the line. All right, so we will be in Orlando this weekend to call the Hitchens Jose Zepeda fight also in Orlando this week Will be Edgar Berlanga the undefeated super middleweight contender last seen beating Jason Quigley at Madison Square Garden Berlanga will be there to discuss his future with his promoter Eddie Hearn his manager Keith Conley I believe will also be there as well and from what I understand One of the top priorities of that meeting is to find a way to make it financially palatable For Edgar Berlanga to fight Jaime Munguia This is the fight we've been talking about really since Berlanga beat Jason Quigley It is a very easy to fight to make in terms of boxing politics Munguia is aligned with golden boy Berlanga, of course aligned with matchroom It is a tremendous fight either in New York or Southern California in terms of ticket sales right now there's some distance between what Berlanga wants and behind it presumably zone is willing to pay Edgar Berlanga, but Cory Berlanga to me has to find a way to say yes here has to find a way to say yes you look at his resume and He's highly ranked in among some of the sanctioning buys, but he's 26 years old He's 21 to know his last five fights have come against Jason Quigley Alexis Angulo Steve rolls your guy Marcelo Coseras and Daman Nicholson not exactly a murderers row of opponents you know to me if you're Berlanga, you're at a point where It's it's kind of put up or shut up.

"Where U2's playing. Shout out James Dolan. Yeah, one of the great music venues I think that's ever been built, if not the best. They had the Super Bowl in February and then 300 in April. That's an amazing, amazing run. And I might be at all four of those. I might go four for four. Wow. And not to mention, you have the Golden Knights as the defending Stanley Cup champs just chilling there. They're the defending Stanley Cup champions. Yeah, no, it is incredible that they're doing all these things. The Aces? Isn't that the WNBA team? Everybody says Aces. So on this 293 card, top five fights, two heavyweight fights and a light heavyweight fight. As you know, I like the bigger guys with UFC. I like, because I always feel like when we get to the lower classes, hey, I don't know. I just like watching big guys try to beat the shit out of each other. I'm sorry, I can't apologize. I'm a casual UFC fan. No, I get it. And the co-main is then for you. Bam Bam Taitui Vasa is one of the most likeable beloved characters in the UFC. He's this gigantic former rugby player. He loves to do the shoey. People love when he does that after his wins. He has lost two in a row and he's going up against this guy named Alexander Volkov, former Bellator heavyweight champion, nicknamed Drago. Looks exactly like Ivan Drago. Comes from Russia. I think he's six foot seven or six foot eight. They took a picture of the face off this morning and like Tui Vasa's head is just barely in the frame because they had to get all of Volkov's body in there. But I got to tell you, man, this is a really fascinating time in the world of MMA. The number two organization, Bellator, is about to be bought by the PFL, which is the number three organization. They just got an influx of about $100 million in investment from Saudi Arabia. Francis Eganou- Oh, I can't believe Saudi Arabia was involved. They're shockingly in the world of MMA now. We've been waiting for this to happen for a long time. Francis Eganou's fighting Tyson Fury next month in Saudi Arabia. It's just a lot of craziness. But as far as 293 is concerned- Well, you left out the UFC WWE merger. It's gonna officially go through. It looks like next week. Yeah, next week. We're gonna have all the guys over there at the New York Stock Exchange. That's surreal, so we'll see what happens to both businesses in the aftermath of that. But there's a stretch coming up. Not to mention John Jones at Madison Square Garden- Well, that's my son's guy. Yeah, he wants to go. That's his favorites, John. He wants to go because John Jones is his guy. Like, he'll get in arguments and be like, John Jones kind of a troubled last 12 years. No, no. Like, he just sees, and he does the whirl around John Jones' elbow. That's like his pretend, watch this, I'm gonna do this to you. But he pulls the elbow back, but each time you think he's about to break your nose. Yeah, that's my idiot son. He loves John Jones. I'm a little bit surprised because he's in his teens, right? Yeah, but it's YouTube. Like, teenagers catching up on UFC, there's like four or five guys that just jump out if you watch the right montage of different moves and fights and stuff. He has to love Sean O'Malley, right? Well, how about, we didn't talk about that, the Sean O'Malley in Boston, where you would have thought Sean O'Malley was from East Boston or Charleston or something. The crowd, they were booing Sterling, and Sterling's like one of the greatest guys. Isn't he like one of the best character guys UFC's had in the last 15 years? Even after the fight, they were booing him. Yeah, well, he's kind of rubbed some fans the wrong way with some comments, and he won the belt and there's some somewhat controversial circumstances. So, I wasn't surprised. But he's like a good guy. Like, he was a good loser. Like, he was very sportsman-like. And they're like, boo! It was just classic Boston. They just said, they were like, oh, Sean O'Malley, he must be from here. We're ready for him. You've asked me before, like, who's the next superstar? If he could go on a run here now as champ, like, he's gonna be in that conversation with Izzy, with Jon Jones. He just has it all. And again, he connects with that younger audience. The UFC is so on fire right now. And it's just like banger after banger after banger. How about the fact that this event, 293, they sold it out in a couple of hours without any of the top fights? Like, the main event wasn't even announced. It was just the UFC's coming to Sydney. There's probably, it's probably just UFC and WWE as far as sports entertainment is concerned that can do that. They say, like, we're coming to town. Let's put the tickets on sale. Like, boxing can't do that. It's tougher. Taylor Swift. Yeah, but we know what they'd say. We didn't even, we didn't know. The main event could have been me versus you. And no one would have returned the tickets. That's how hot the brand is right now. It's crazy. So, here's why I think that's the case. I think we're now in the two generation zone with UFC and even, like, two and a half because they have all the kids from, I don't know, 11 to 18. That's the new generation. But now the dads kind of grew up with it, right? And the dads now have the spending money that grew up when they were kids. But then they also have the older generation that just liked it when they were in their thirties in the 2000 that are now in their fifties. So, really, it's like three generations. So, it just feels like where we were in 2000, where it was this oddity and people are arguing about whether it was a human cockfight or not. And the presentation's great. They just do an incredible job with the consistency of the pay-per-views. They're easy to find. The relationship with ESPN Plus, I think, is the best ESPN Plus relationship, right? Like, it's kind of saved ESPN Plus in some ways. So, I just think they've figured it out and you know it's going well because Dana had that scandal and it just kind of went away. They literally did it, just went away. Nobody even cares. No one said a thing. They're the lifeline of ESPN Plus. And I'm very curious because their deal is up in two years. And so, I'm super curious to see what happens here because I think both have benefited from the relationship, right? I think the UFC has become mainstream as a result of the relationship with ESPN. And I think ESPN Plus has been a success because of the UFC. There's nothing, like, I was talking about this with someone yesterday. No one's top content is on ESPN Plus other than the UFC. Like, the best NBA games aren't exclusively on ESPN Plus. Their best NFL isn't on ESPN Plus. The best UFC fights are on ESPN Plus exclusively. And so, that's been a brilliant move on their part and it has worked out. But I'm curious to see what happens in the next two years because I suspect the UFC is going to ask for a lot of money and you know there's better than I. Oh, I think that's a fair suspicion. Because the ESPN has NBA coming up, but UFC, which never really gets covered, is like, oh my God, NBA, they're going to have to pay through the nose. This is a big reason why their profits might go down. But I think the UFC thing, which they got at a really good deal a couple of years ago, I think that's the best deal they've made in the last 10 years. And that deal is not going to be there this time around because you're going to have streamers that are like this, like somebody like Peacock could say, like, this is it. Like, if we don't get UFC, we might have to merge with somebody else or something. But like if Peacock got UFC and WWE, which makes sense to me because they're going to be merged as in a one company, like to me, I think you're getting both and they're going to try to do the one plus one equals three would be my guess. So if ESPN loses UFC, that's on top of all the other stuff that's happened. Disaster. I do think UFC loves being with ESPN because they love that legitimacy. Dana White has always wanted to be. There's a credibility there. Yes, they love to look at the ticker and the logo is there and the upcoming fights. They love ESPN.com's coverage. Like they're very into that. But I mean, Peacock, Apple, Amazon, the regular players, I can't see why they wouldn't go after, especially when ESPN Plus bought the pay-per-views exclusively because when the deal first started, they were still on DirecTV and in demand. But then midway through the first year, ESPN Plus said, we want all the pay-per-views exclusively. You can't go on any other platform. And initially people were thinking like, man, do they overpay for this? The rumor was that they paid the equivalent to what 500,000 buys would be per show. And it's ended up being a brilliant move on ESPN's part because as you see, everything funnels through them. You have to subscribe to get the pay-per-views. It's been a grand slam. Well, especially as ratings just continue to go down all over the place, these things that are just guaranteed audiences is the hardest thing to find. That's why WWE has become more valuable. But with UFC, it feels like the audience is growing. It feels like they've, the one criticism or fear with UFC was always that they wouldn't be able to regenerate stars. That's not a problem. They just over and over again, they, you know, this guy goes, this guy comes in, the woman's division has been huge for them. You know, when you think like where that was 15 years ago versus where it is now, like people have real opinions on all the different classes. And it feels like they, I don't know how many pay-per-views they're doing a year, like the real ones. Well, 13. It's 13. I mean, honestly, they could probably do 20. It's smarter that they keep it so that they're a little more special, but they have enough fighters to do more than 12. Yeah, but they're doing like 43 or so shows a year, which I think kind of waters down the product a little bit, but they keep obviously the big names for the pay-per-views. However, next weekend, not on pay-per-view, Alexa Grasso, Valentina Shevchenko too, speaking of the women's fighters for the Flyway title is going to be on a regular ESPN, ESPN+. They actually got the Mexican Independence Day slot at T-Mobile before Canelo. Canelo is fighting on September 30th against Charlo. And so they got that slot, which is gigantic for them. And they're doing sort of a, they're calling it Nochez UFC. And Alexa Grasso, who's from Mexico is defending her title against Shevchenko. So that's a huge, huge deal because that slot has always been reserved for Canelo and is always historically a huge, huge weekend for the Mexican fight fans. So that's another big thing that they're doing that's coming up next week and that's free. I'll be interested to see how they coordinate the WWE and UFC, the events, and whether they try to basically own a weekend, stagger things a certain way where it'll be three, four-day weekends, pick certain spots in the sports schedule where it's like, we just had a pretty dead August. And it's like, do we want to try to own the second weekend of August? Like this is like the biggest weekend of the year for combat and WWE, stuff like that. All right, we're running out of time. So you have four minutes to refute my prediction that the Buffalo Bills will not make the playoffs this year. You're so much better than this. Like I can understand you saying they're not as good as people think. They shouldn't be Super Bowl favorites. Josh Allen's window is closed. Not making the playoffs is one of the most absurd things that I've ever heard. It's a loaded conference. It's, listen, you can't have everybody. There's only seven seats at the dinner table, my friend. Okay, who are the seven teams that are ahead of them? Off top of your head. So I have three coming out of the AFC North. And then I have Miami and I have the Pats winning a nine and eight tiebreaker against the Bills. I know, I know, I know. You had me. I was going with the North and the Miami. Miami I'm worried about. I'm way more worried about Miami than New York. I think we're gonna lay the smack down on New York's ass on Monday night. It's gonna be tremendous. But Miami makes me nervous. I'll be honest with you. You know, sometimes I come on here and I have like this very, you know, loud brash stance. Bill's bravado, yeah. Yes, I don't have that. And it's more, I'm trying to do reverse psychology. I feel like last year we were a little too cocky and I almost feel like I couldn't enjoy the season because every misstep was just crushing. It's like, oh my God, no, we're supposed to be in Glendale. We're supposed to win the Super Bowl. This is not the way the story is supposed to play out. And I just think they lost steam towards the end. A few things have happened in the off season that I don't love. In particular, the relationship between Staphon Diggs and Josh Allen. I'm just not quite sure what the hell is going on over there. Give us the 25 seconds on that. So is it, how much of it is real and how much of it is just people just have nothing to talk about? The fact that they keep having to address it and even the way in which they do address it makes me feel like there is something there. And let's be honest, the end of that Bengals game felt like something was there. McDermott took over the defensive coaching, defensive duties. That makes me a little bit nervous as well because I don't know if he is the guy that could ultimately get them over the hump. I really miss Brian Deball. I think that was the guy that should have stayed as head coach ultimately in retrospect. Oh, interesting. Yeah, that's the guy. That's the guy that should have stayed. He's incredible. I love that guy. I mean, don't you agree? Oh, I picked the Giants to make the playoffs really because of him. I think he's one of the best five coaches. I just feel like he's got to go 10. Him and Vrabel, I'm just like if they have a healthy team and they're pretty good, they'll get them the 10 wins somehow. Ultimately though, we win the AFC East. I keep thinking about 13 seconds. I keep wondering if that was the time because we would have beaten the Bengals, we would have beaten the Rams. I just can't stop thinking and harping on that. I am a pessimist, but your take about them not making the playoffs is absolute lunacy. They're going to make the playoffs. So the case is we have Josh Allen, there's no way we'll win less than 10 games because we have Josh Allen. A thousand percent, yeah. That's it. But that's the only case. No, but they have a good time. You don't love the team. It's not like you have like a super talented Bill Steen. No, we've gone solid. I mean, if Diggs is back, well, we got Gabe Davis, the defense is solid. Eventually we're getting Von Miller back. Come on, Gabe Davis for a touchdown against the Chiefs. No pass rush. I actually think you're going to lose to the Jets. By the way, that is possible. There's going to be a lot of adrenaline, a lot of excitement over that. The Jets are not for real. You agree with this, yes? Oh, I totally agree. I totally agree. The Jets fans, it's the most fascinating sociological experiment this year is the Jets fans with a ton of hype. And you have the Browns fans with some hype, you have the Bills fans with some hype, and the Lions fans. And the Lions fans, these are tortured fan bases who believe this year. It's hilarious. You're putting us in there with the Lions, the Jets and the Browns? The Lions, Jets and Browns are pretenders. As tortured fan bases. Yes, but we are contenders. We have been in the game over the last three, four years. We've made the AFC championship game. We're not those guys. Lions are just hoping to make the playoffs. We're looking to win another division. From a tortured history standpoint, I think you guys are all going to the same support group. That is true. But I do feel like we're a lot further along than those guys. And the big difference is, we have the best quarterback of that bunch. Agreed? I think he's one of two guys that you can say this guy guarantees us 10 wins. Burrow, I'm almost there. But I just, you know, what if he misses three games? The punishment that he takes game to game, week to week. You saw it last year, as soon as he got hurt, the team, the destiny of the team changed. Speaking of best of the bunch, we have, I think, the best MMA pod, the ringer MMA show. Yes. With our guys, P.C. and Chuck. Is Chuck, did he, I know we have to go, but Chuck, do you feel a change in his demeanor since the Nuggets won the title? Is he just happier? Does he seem peaceful? What is it? A thousand percent, you nailed it peaceful. But also I still feel like he's on cloud 10. Like I still feel like he's floating in the air. He's one of the biggest Nuggets fans and it was great that you had him on. I still feel that drois de vivre oozing out of him. It feels like mid June when you still speak to him. But yes, thank you for the shout out. We'll be doing a post show after 293. We do a weekly show every Thursday and then after every pay per view, post show exclusively on our Spotify feed. And yeah, it's been great with the guys. I adore doing the show with them and long may it continue. Awesome. Awesome to see you. Enjoy UFC 293. I'll talk to you during the season, NFL. Thanks, Bill. All right, our guy Ben Thompson is here. Tortured Bucks fan. Are you tortured again? The title was like two years ago. Are you back to being tortured? I have not been on this show for a long time because we were planning on doing a podcast during the inevitable Bucks-Celtics series, which did not materialize. So yes, I am back to being tortured. What's your Giannis is leaving panic meter right now between on scale one to 10? One, I mean, like there's this, I am a Giannis fan and there is the Bucks are old and it would be irresponsible for him to sort of blindly sign an extension. I think the reality from my perspective is he stayed in Milwaukee. He won a title. I would love it if he spent his whole career there and the Bucks had a competitive team. I also am not sure how I'd feel about sort of like a Dirk Nowitzki sort of outcome where he's just sort of on, you know, not good enough teams in the long run. So, I mean, I hope he does what's right for himself, but regardless, yeah, there will not be any hard feelings on my side and I'll cheer for him wherever he goes. Well, did they have more brothers he can sign or like how many? Can they start signing cousins? Just to be clear, the Nasus is on the team and it is ridiculous. The other brother, Kostas, that was, he was cut within 24 hours. That was just to get him onto the G-League team. So there's a lot of misinformation floating around. The Bucks are nepotistic, but only to one brother, not to multiple or to the extent they are it's with the G-League, so. Gotta set the record straight.

"Alright, Corey Erdman is here, boxingscene.com, The Zone Broadcaster. You can catch Corey on Friday at Overtime Arena in Atlanta. He'll be on the mic for the Overtime Boxing Series. That's a series you can watch every Friday on The Zone. Corey, I was just talking a moment ago about the AJ Dillion-White situation. Dillion-White, of course, testing positive for a banned substance. He is out of the Anthony Joshua fight on Saturday. Robert Helenius, who was last seen in a mainstream way in the U.S. against Deontay Wilder, losing in the first round. He is now in. So give me your thoughts on everything that's transpired over the last couple of days between AJ and Dillion-White. Yeah, well, I mean, obviously I was disappointed. And, you know, it's the timing obviously isn't good for Matchroom either, because they're obviously coming off the heels of dealing with and litigating the Conor Ben situation and then having Dillion-White go through this as well. It's not a nice situation for them to be in PR wise. But it did mean that I didn't completely waste my time last week, because when I got here to Atlanta, Chris, rather than go sightseeing and do any number of things that I could have done here in Atlanta, I was finding a way to watch Finnish television so that I could watch Robert Helenius fight in a castle built in 1475. And I was thinking to myself, like, what is the purpose of this, other than feeding my own brain sickness? The purpose was that I was actually doing research for what would turn out to be the marquee fight of the very next week. So it turned out I didn't waste my time. Yeah, I said at the top of the show, I don't have much to say about the Dillion-White situation. I don't know anything about the Dillion-White situation. I don't know what he tested positive for. I don't know what his rationale or his reasoning is going to be. So I'm going to put that on a shelf for the moment. As far as AJ against Helenius goes, we've seen a lot of criticism about that fight, largely because when Helenius was last seen by a worldwide audience, he was getting nearly decapitated by Deontay Wilder in one round, knocked out by Wilder. Whoever he thought, you know, that was going to be the end of Robert Helenius. I think he even announced retirement after the fight or suggested he was going to retire after the fight. He comes back for a low-level fight, as you said, in a castle in Finland. I saw some of the pictures and visuals from that. That was interesting, to say the least. Do you have a problem with AJ taking on Robert Helenius on short notice? No. I mean, with this kind of notice, I think that Helenius is about as good as you're going to get. And like, yes, could Joshua have given more of an unknown fighter, a younger fighter, an opportunity on short notice? I suppose. But Helenius is at least a name that is known to people. And they still have to market a fight like this. And as much as we're in the know and the listeners of this show are in the know and they know what the deal is with this fight, there will be others who will see, oh, you know, former world title challenger, a guy that's fought some big names. And there is some value to that. And there's also some value in that kind of continuity, the throughline with what Deontay Wilder did to Helenius. And the obvious fact that the fight that Joshua and his team are headed towards is that fight against Deontay Wilder. So there can be some comparison there. And also, I think for Joshua, there is some value in what should be a knockout victory, because it's been a little while since there's been a bit of a palate cleanser for Anthony Joshua. Of course, he gets the win over Jermaine Franklin, but then there's the two losses to Alexander Rusic. It's been a while since he's been able to add to that highlight reel. You know, like our friends in the editing department when they're putting together promos for AJ fights, they're still using that like Rafael Zumbano love knockout when AJ was like 7-0. So there is some value, as sad as it is to say, in just getting some fresh content and something out there with AJ potentially starching someone, because I think that's what we're expecting to happen in this fight. Yeah, I think it's easy to say that AJ should have taken on someone tougher. And it's easy to say, you know, on paper you could make a fight with Filip Perkovic, who was fighting on the undercard. Or we saw Martin Bicoli out there looking for the fight. Michael Hunter will fight anybody. You saw Andy Ruiz putting his hand up again to be a late replacement for Anthony Joshua. But the reality is that very few of those fights were realistic, especially within the time frame that Matchroom had to make a fight. I mean, we saw Andy Ruiz, he couldn't make a fight with Deontay Wilder because money was a stumbling block. Filip Perkovic is undefeated. He's got an eye on a world title shot in his next fight. Would he have taken that fight on short notice? I don't know, but, you know, he's got a fight of his own on the undercard, the potential to face Usyk in his next fight. So there's that part of it. And look, I've often said that, you know, 2023 is a rebuilding year for Anthony Joshua. He's coming off back to back loss to Usyk. He's lost something like, what, three of his last five fights. He's not, he's, he's bouncing back. He's got a new trainer in Dark James. He wants to stay active with that trainer. He wants confidence builders. Like you said, he wants knockouts and he's building towards a big fight presumably against Deontay Wilder in the first quarter of 2024. So Helenius to me is fine. Like, they took it off pay per view, which is the right thing to do. They'll give refunds to people that don't want to watch AJ versus Helenius at O2 Arena. I just think we couldn't, we shouldn't have expected Anthony Joshua to replace Dillian White with anyone below or anyone above sea level. Just wasn't going to happen. He he needs something else at this stage. And Robert Helenius, even though I have some questions about whether Robert Helenius should still be fighting, because that was a catastrophic knockout he had to Deontay Wilder. But he just fought this past weekend. So he's obviously in decent shape at least.

"We have two people. Who really have honored us through their public service. I'm speaking first of Former governor but yet still called Governor George Pataki, the 53rd, governor of the state of New York. Former fire commissioner Still call commissioner Sal Cassano to people who really helped Uh, rebuild. Our state. Our city taught us that in life, you have to learn sometimes how to begin again and they have so much, uh, that they have taught us and we continue to learn from them. So welcome. Governor, Pataki Commissioner Cassano. Thank you. Thank you both very much Happy to be on with you and happy to be on with the commissioner. Thank you, Rabbi. Same here. I'm very happy to be on the governor as well. So looking back September 11 2000 and one And all the time thereafter. As I remember. There was a collaborative spirit. People work together. It wasn't about the I was about the week. I think sadly, we've lost. Uh, some of that thinking. Too many people make it about themselves rather than the collective group. Talk about how you were able to bring people together during that critical period, Governor Well, I'll tell you to me it wasn't so much breeding me bringing people together. It's just New Yorkers coming together with a tremendous spirit of, uh, fight. You know, we had been attacked and it's you know, today we're separated Republicans, Democrats black, white, rich, poor urban rural. That day we were attacked and nobody cared. The Attackers didn't care if you were black or white or Republican or Democrat or younger all day. Just wanted to kill Americans and out of that now. College. Uh, that we were all targeted because of our belief in this wonderful country. We had this tremendous sense of unity, and I think you hit it right on the head. If there's one thing that to me is most troubling 20 years later, and there are plenty of things, But one certainly is the fact that instead of us having that sense of unity that we're all in this together with a common future that we had not just on that day, but for years literally afterwards. Um, now we can't even talk to each other civilly, and we've got to reclaim some of that sense that this is this is a great country. We are all a part of this country and we're all in this together, So I really think it was the people who inspired me as opposed to the other way around, Commissioner I agree Whole Hollywood. The governor just said it was, you know, as far as the F D N Y we saw we were going to get help. I mean, the government was visible. Mayor Giuliani was visible. We had many other elected officials visible. Working together to help us rebuild and we as a department. We? We relied so much on help from other municipalities to help us get on our feet. We were really knocked on off, you know? Real literally knocked out on these because of what happened to us and how many people were killed and many people were injured. How many people were sick? And because of that? People coming together to help us know when we came down West Street to go to work, and there were people Holy signs, no matter what time of the day or night. It was You know, if d N y n y p d we support you. We love you. I mean, I can't tell you how much that purpose up because we were dog type. Believe me, 18 hours a day, Five fights were going to work at the pile going home going to the firehouse, very really going home. By the way, they said they were going home, but they weren't there going back to the files, working this shift and coming back to the World Trade Center. The support that we had From our elected officials and the civilians and the people from all over the country really kept us going, and, as the governor said, he lost a lot of that and we have to get it back. We really have to get it back. We can get it back. Governor commissioner, This is Reverend Bernard. You know you two are leaders and leadership tends to be a foul weather job. You know, No one cares who's in charge until things go wrong or there's a crisis. But that's when leadership shines or lacks luster. And you gentlemen have shined. You've stepped up to the plate. What is it as leaders, um When it comes to this pattern that if we have a common enemy, we come together and and and we support each other. And then when the common enemy seems to disappear, we go back to the internal feuds. What is that from a leadership perspective. Well, then sometimes, uh, sometimes it's uh, politically, uh, powerful to demonize your opponent. And, you know, I think we've lost a great deal of civility and all aspects of our society. It used to be ran against someone who, um, we may have had different ideas. What you respected now, It just seems that you try to demonize and destroy the other side. Now, honestly think social media is a significant part of that. Where, um, you can hide behind. Enoch Locust, anonymity and just insult and slander and And get away with it. And I think it has just been very destructive of us. As a society people should be required to to stand up for what they believe to be held accountable for what they believe in. And I think if that were the case, we'd have far more of this intelligent dialogue and civility. And, you know, Reverend, I think you were right that when we face a common enemy, we generally are able to put aside those differences and come together. Now I'm not so sure. Even in the face of a common entity, the division and the country has become the greatest in my lifetime. And I love history. And you think back to the Civil war and you wonder how people could have been so stupid as to generate what they thought would be a short war. They cost hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of thousands of lives without having any concept of what they were walking into. And I look at us today and I see a country divided and I fear That our leadership sometimes has that same blindness as to the consequences of what they're doing, and I have always believed that leadership is bringing people together. When you have a vision. This is not a country where you have the right to simply impose that fish and it's one where you have the right to make the case to try to get people to come together behind that vision and to make The most effective leadership is that leadership that can create a consensus behind it, as opposed to dictating how things are going to be and Washington right now, Uh, we're just called. This is the way it's going to be a and if you don't like it, you know if we have one more vote than you do tough, That's not leadership. That's not the way America should function. But sadly, it is the way it functions home. Because the government was spying on far as the fire department. You know, we people look at us. They look up to us. You're going to get an occasional bad story. But In my vision as a leader, it was how do I make the people around me better and if I can make them better? And that's my job is only them, not me. It's not about me. It's about the people that work for me or work with me and the public we serve and we were lucky enough. That people look up towards as a department because we're there to help them in time of need, But as far as the political world, it's in turmoil, medical degree with the governor more it's like Whatever Channel you turn on. It's like you're looking at two different countries. If you turning on Fox News is one to report you turn on CNN. It's another point. Say, Wait, I thought this was the same event. But it's not..

"He would be of his family right now that we're taking care of these great heroes. I miss him so much. I wish she was here. You never get over something like this should just learn to live with it. And But to do something like that, like we're doing as a foundation to help all these families. We couldn't be more proud. Spending a few minutes with Frank Siller, who is about 80% of the way through has never forget walk to honor his fallen firefighter, brother and others who died on 9 11 trying to save people in the twin towers. It's after hours on CBS Sports Radio Frank It's been 20 years, which I can't even wrap my brain around. I still remember every minute of that day as though it was yesterday, and I can imagine that there are many moments that are permanently embedded in your spirit and your brain. When people ask you about your brother. What do you want them to know about Stephen? Now that it's been 20 years? And he died the way he lived. He was serving others. He did it inside his family. He was always there for us and anything that we have needed. For his friends. They all thought he was their best friend, because that's how we treated everybody. He was a very special individual as many of these first responders work. They would do anything for anybody. What he did. He gave his life up. He gave up a lot. He was married, had five kids. He was my little brother. He was the youngest of seven when he was born when he was born. I was 14 years older than him. My oldest brother was 25 years older than him. And my parents died when he's a little boy, and we raised them so he's as much a son to us as he was a brother. It was unbelievable loss for our family. But I know this that if he was faced with the same decision again tomorrow, he would do the exact same thing. And, uh We're just so proud of him and what he did, so I want people to remember. He's a hero, and he made a tremendous sacrifice for for our country and for the people that he was saving 20 years ago. What did he love about Being a firefighter? Everything. Everything. The brotherhood, the brotherhood. It was another family for him. Look, and he realized very early on in life By 10 years old. My both My parents were gone. So he really learned early on in life that every day was precious that every day was a gift, and he didn't waste any time I call them Multiplicity man because he did so much every single day, so he he was He loved every aspect of being a firefighter being there, living with them eating with them. Fighting fires, saving people you know with them. He just loved every every aspect of it, So he was so proud to be five fight and we were proud of them. But we were also very nervous because we knew That he has the personality to never hesitated to run into a building. And, uh and that he did. He found the way to get there 20 years ago. How many people which dropped £60 of five. Your own is back run through the Brooklyn battery Tunnel, which is almost two miles long. Come out the other side. Go up West Street, go into the South building. We believe me. One is the South tower. We're not sure because he was never recovered. But that's where 11 of the squad. One members died that day, along with the 300 employees, three firefighters he wouldn't want to fight that fire and with with his brothers So who would do that? You know, not many people, but he did do it and we're just so proud of of what he did. And And because of that one action. Think of all the All the people that were that were helping today and I can imagine the firefighters that you encounter along your journey and the ones that you will that you will re commune with their in New York at ground zero. This means a lot to them, and the fight is still not over for first responders. There are so many who are dealing with illnesses, whether respiratory or cancers that are related to their service at ground zero and their time working on the pile. Um, And so the fact that they have someone to do this and to help to tell their story you're you're a brother now, too, right? Well, I am an honorary pathology. But listen, we've been an announcement a few months ago that any firefighter police officer First respondent has side of 9 11. Illnesses that have young families left behind were going to pay off their mortgages. These are the forgotten people have forgotten. First responders that continue to pay a big price that family see the that their loved ones fade away. Over the course of how many years with these cancers, Um, that keep on taking lives of these great heroes. They were on that pile digging for my brother looking for my brother. And looking for their brothers inside the fire department or police department, and they continue to die today, so we're so proud that we're going to make sure that we take these care of these families that are left behind. And on Veterans Day this year, we are going to read the names of over 7000. 72 men and women in uniform that served our country. They gave their lives to the country at the Lincoln Memorial. Never been done before We're gonna read those names out loud. Cause people can't forget the price that's been paid ever since 9 11 for our freedom here in America, so we can have a safe America. And so we're proud to take on those responsibilities. So thank you for bringing up the fact that so many people on dying of 9 11 illnesses. Yeah, It's something that I learned only a few years ago that it's actually going to end up taking more lives than did the the attacks. On that day on 9 11, the number of people who are still dealing with the illnesses so I try to get the word out, Frank before I let you go when you get to day number 42 you have completed 500 plus miles you've tracked into now your sixth state and you are getting to ground zero and to the fire company that's there. What emotions do you anticipate? As you arrive there on on September 11th on the 20th anniversary. When I think about it, I can't even hold myself together. Be proud that that of my brother and what he did that day and I I just going to be with my wife, my kids, my grandchildren My brothers and sisters, their Children and grandchildren. We're going to walk through that tunnel, just like my brother Stephen ran through that Donald 20 years ago. Yes, we'll be done with sneakers on He did. It was gear on. And when he came out the other side, he saw buildings on fire, and now we see the freedom tower when I come out, and we just want to come through the other side of the family. And make sure that we help his honor and honorables perish. So I will be overwhelmed. We will all be overwhelmed as most Americans will be, because it's 20 years later that we lost 2977 great Americans. It is hard to believe it's been 20 years, but Frank Siller is getting close to the end of his never forget walk to honor his brother and the other firefighters and first responders and Americans who perished on 9 11. And so you want to go to the website t two t dot org To read more to see photos as great pictures there of your time as you trek across this portion of the country so t two t dot.

"As we move ahead to the return of the ultimate fighter yes. The comeback season has officially kicked off with middleweights and bantamweights and alexander. Volkov ski and brian ortega the great coaches of the season. Pick their teams. We had our first fight. Andre petrosky submitted aaron phillips in the first round we have our first bantamweight matchup set for next week the first overall pick was mitch riposte a new england regional. Standout lot is upon him. He's gonna fight team. Ortega's ludwik shalini and i believe this is dan but that should be a great fight. But i'm curious. Jose did you partake in the return of the ultimate fighter. If you did what did you think if not why did you choose not to watch it. I watched it not. Because i hate it nor do i want it to go away. I'm pretty indifferent to the ultimate fighter gives these fighters a platform to make money. Moving forward have added man. I mean freaking. Julian lane is still kind of relevant when he does bare knuckle boxing just for southern screened on the ultimate fighter so Don't particularly care whether it stays or goes. I didn't watch because i took dates. Unplug and go hike on a mountain. I did some sort of a physical strenuous activity. Which my opponent. As i can kind of i just assume has never particularly done So i think he gets out winded when he stands up from whatever couch. She's sitting on probably not even couch stool of sorts because he likes to pretend that he is relevant combat sports experience box so i imagine he's one of those guys that just sits on a box of stool and yells at a computer. All he wants because he's lived at man. I'm sitting here doing it. But no i did not watch it. Will i watch it maybe especially if there's some good fights on it but no i did not watch it but i am different. Weather stays or goes. Did you watch ed. I mean something tells me you probably didn't but maybe it did. I don't know and if did did you watch it. Why will god's name watch that no also for the record like ran six miles this morning. A bag of. I don't think i can say the middle finished with those out. Because why would i watch this like. I'm i'm loath to give us a like i'm with him. I don't care if it's on like it's i. I question the idea that like tough is way to make money this. Uc or build a name. So few people watch it and realistically i just. It just doesn't seem like they're better options contender series or you know just fighting out on the regional circuit and inciting it individual contracts which we've seen fighters do before but i'm totally fine for it to be here Medina's beef with the whole thing honestly is not that it exists. But that because it exists. coaches just turn into awful humans. Eligible panofsky is now doing this whole manufactured be with brian ortega the nobody really buys in even if it's true is you still lamest ass thing i've ever heard. Yeah he seems really fake. Okay can you give us some examples. No he just seems. Fake like suey would a savage beef you to like. It's just turn off the cameras. It sucks it's transparent in all you'll need anything to sell this fight like this dope fight between two of the best one forty five in the world. And that's honestly just going to detract from it. As brian teigen him snipe at each other for the next few months. Like so. that's my only issue with it and it's not really with it but with kind of what. It creates by bikes extinguished. It leaves in. Its wake but other than that. It's fine you know if people i'm not here to yuck yum good on whoever's in there and i'm talking to watch an episode. Why would i watch an episode. Mike that takes up sixty minutes which are precious. They're very precious. I do lots of important things instead. I can read our recaps by our own. Alex kaley on intimate fighting dot com the morning. After i can just do that way to put over one of your teammates shed so my be one of my big issues with the ultimate fighter is not the show itself. Because i do like the concept. I i think it's shine some light on the regional amazing. I prefer obviously the contender series more. Because it's all about the fights. Yeah we get some back stories. But it's about the fights and the fighters just like we get through five fights in like two hours at the most and it's just like damn. This is good new happens every week. Tough to me is the same show. We have seen for twenty something seasons. Like outside of the apex replacing the tough jim and having upgraded equipment. It is exactly the same show. I cannot believe we still have frigging basketball jerseys. We're still doing the basketball jersey thing and season twenty nine. It's the same frigging show some curious jet like canvas show of all that all league isn't even possibly. Is there anything the ufc can do to make this more interesting to you. Like what would make you watch the ultimate fighter and like go out of your way to watch it on a weekly basis. The only way no is the answer as long as daylights there. No because dana white believes that tradition a mess with tradition against aldo along gladys like. We don't change. We're in the stream and this is the stream we're going down until we all die so they're gonna be wearing jordan's walking a have phones they're gonna get drunk and destroyed property because that's that's what it is and that's what we're going to be unless they did a fundamental overall on even i don't. I'm not even sure that looks like the only way to make me watch is the way that they've made me watch over the last ten years. Basically the only seasons. I've watched are the ones where title is on the line. 'cause title doesn't mean anything it's great you you wanna tournament. That's fine like cool. You get a contract but everyone on the show gets a contract but when they did the twenty season twenty was destroyed and they claimed the title even though the two strokes aren't actually on that season Like i watched that because that mattered. And that's the only way they can do. Maybe they did like a featherweight. One like a women's featherweight one where it wasn't just a bunch of bandmates who didn't have to cut as much weight is like actual featherweights. Maybe i might do that because that like all of those women would suddenly be the usc but outside of that. That's it like. Give me an atom. Wait one you do an atom away tough watch. otherwise. I'm gonna leave that to to the ak lease of the world and i will just read recaps. What do you think is there. Is there anything that would make this much. Watch viewing for you. I mean it's something like you could. You don't feel good. If you want to catch up on stuff you read the recaps etcetera but like anything that they could do at this point to make you feel like oh man. It's tuesday night julia. We can't go on a date. Because i gotta watch ultimate fighter like what what could they do at this point. Well i i would like to respond to my opponent. He said that he ran. Six miles probably not true. Let's be honest. That's probably six boxes of rollo's yes rollers are very overrated candy for a very daily talking about you'll find a way albro isaiah box. I mean a box of roles. A box of roles of roller. So let's be honest. You probably didn't run six miles second. He said that he reads the recaps. He can't read so again probably not true so anyway now that we have those out of the way i'm to fact check this man every time so he's offered to on things that he's again probably didn't do ladies don't anyway. This man said he wants more classes. And this and that we've heard all four mike. Actually you've asked me this question on a pass. Iteration of between the links pre anime fighting which guests who won this guy. Ibm amid junkies. Own nolan king..

"By Ryan OPM. Well, of course, I've watched the video A couple of times. It's fairly lengthy. It's a good long fight in the airport to waiting area and the terminal. That video is unbelievable it if it really is, you did notice that woman, the one with the long blonde hair. Actually wearing like, uh, skin colored her skin, skin colored yoga pants, and I like I have top. Oh, that's very in right now, And it does look like at some point. They are wrestling with a naked lady, but she's not naked. In the one in the red with the red backpack on See the first one to go down and do get hurt. Now, do you see what he did? I don't know if you noticed enough, but when you put her on the floor She didn't want to stay down. So he put a knee on the back of her neck. Yeah. Oh, George, quite style. That's right. Yeah, they learn. And those were those dreadlock things that are hanging from her head. The predator haircut them bad boys. You're going all the way down past her, but, uh oh, I know they go pretty far. That is quite a bit going on there. Fight started on the airplane. I don't even know if we have the video of that, and they kicked him off naturally, and they were not done. Did you notice in her mug shot? She's got a neck tattoo right here like where the Adam's Apple would be issues in there, And I wonder why there why did you and accept it? And it's also a Chinese letter. Do you think she knows what that letter is better? You know what it's supposed to mean. Oh, man, look at that curb stomping them do that Zee like and there's a part of this where there's the show from Other angle, and there's like five fights going on at the same time, and you don't know which way to look their party over here party over there. They must be what it's like to walk out of a soccer game in England must be just right at your Manchester versus Manchester United, and you know, that's probably why they don't act right over. There is the free healthcare everything that much gotta be it everything about that. In England, there's no guns. And they have public health care's A few guns. So after a soccer game no, you're right. There's still very few guns. So after a soccer game gets out, and here in Manchester fan and you go outside, and there's just all these toy you like mount you on the wrong side of the street. You're starting a street sucks. Everyone knows this side of the streets, the good side of the street and their start fighting and you look at that block and this guy's got a dude in a choke hold. And you look over there and that guy's getting curb stomped and that's all because of public health care. They don't worry about. No, they don't have to worry if they're not going to pay the bill. Exactly. That's why public health care is a bad idea. It's making people more violent. We ought to keep our health care system the way it is. Because if you know you've got to pay to have your teeth replaced, you're probably gonna behave a little better after the shocker game gets out. I would think so. Yeah, we share a little wisdom with you on the wall in Johnson. Show my buddy Paul's on Hold right now. Paul, What did you call to tell us? Yeah, Two things sharing a Biden. You know she's talking about it. She was there. She could, You know, maybe help. She ought to redo her song if I could turn back time and includes from Georgia in it, And then, uh, yesterday by Yes. They hide and came over here to Lake Charles. And after work, I went in because we saw him take off our offices right by That's where I got good news and bad news, is there. What's that? I said, Well, good news is fine. Going bad news is plain didn't go down, so no. Well, they would have said it about Trump's so we're gonna have to allow it. We cannot endorse that joke that Paul just told on the radio, But I'm already tell it, you know you're not. Oh, yeah. No, no, no, you stop me. Hey, that reminds me by the weight share says She's going to put a jet pack on early Saturday morning. There will do that. You're gonna put a jet pack on and she's gonna go up there and save us all from that Chinese rocket. Thank you should just push it off into space. Will she do? I'm a problem. Work is done. Don't get ahead of yourself. Why not? Why not? It is Friday. Walton and Johnson Radio Network. To.

"I try to explain. You know what the best way to explain is with the fucking podcast. Because there's so much shit that you had to overcome because people feel like. Oh she was talented. She won the nationals. She was talented girl. You just got it because you're talented. No she worked her ass. Operative like literally you work your ass off. You had to overcome shit after shit after shit. Nothing was handed to you. Nothing nothing at all you. We're from health issues too personal cycle like you had every fucking hill and roadblock in the way you keep knocking down after another after another nothing was handed to you well now looking back and think about all those things on like man. That was a lot of roadblocks that i went through. It's very overwhelming now. That i think about it like now. You're making me think about it like you would with some share. Yeah so there's a law. It was a lot so when people are like. Oh yeah she was just talented. Of course you got no. She worked her like. I had my cousin come here from oregon tokyo and i think he says like yo. That girl works hard like she works amazingly hard like her conditions. A whole another level. Because i'm mike is like that because she works like she don't play with her shit light she i'm like i could be there or i cannot be there. She worked the same intensity regardless standing next zero. I'm not standing next in that stuff. I can't teach like you. They want to work harder. You don't. I think that's the biggest thing with you is that you worked super super fucking heart and your super coach. Obviously super coach bill. So you start fighting. You know what i want. I wanted to bring up the very first episode. They did last time. You said. I don't know if you remember but you had to go. Do you remember what your goal was in that episode. I can. I can tell you if you remember but almost if you remember give me a second and think do you remember what your go with. The warrior program then visit a ten fights. Yeah you do remember. It would have been the ten fights then so you you had just had you i fight. Yeah i remember. I'm like okay. I wanna fight again. You're like really you're bucket. Goal is to spot. That was your f- you had just. I think no five fights five twin during the last podcast five five. We did it late. Oh yeah we do after my first so we did it. We did it already a year in. Yeah okay we we did. It was that by five years. Five fights in your goals to have five more and you said this is exactly what you said you said i wanna have ten fights and i wanna move up to the next level before anybody else is. I don't want to just be them. I wanted to do a female is i. I want to be the first in general to do it. I want to beat the boys and the girls and hard to do. And you said it's hard to do because the boys get fights easier. Yeah and guess what. Amy ended up. You did it. But don't celebrate yet because he's still got a couple other things do but you did do it. He got your tampa before the test but she did. She beat the boys to it. So you did exactly what you said you wanted to do Congratulations you beat. The boys So that says a lot about you right there. You're mentality to anything. I've set my mind to. I know you were very eager to it like you were. We have kids here..

"Heard you had a fight and you kept saying like sitting next to cat zingano or something like that. You liked her because she was cute age though. That's good. And I don't know who the fuck during that bullshit but I gave her my phone number, you know, so that too goddamn for whoever owned the gym could call me up about doing et cetera. And I guess the old Dom give her a phone number from you guys yet stupid. I don't place. Oh, that's that's lucky. That's annoying. Yeah, you should have they should just emailed dunks. I heard he gets right back two people on seminars other thing is I found the girl Hotel the girl. He likes her. He's not going to there's not much subtle Don. I don't even think he tells her I think you just clubs there and drags her back to the cave. I'm pretty sure there's not a lot of if you see Dawn coming with a club, he likes that was the best that was the best underground for a nickname of all time a guy was he hits me because he loves me that was his screen name. I loved it more than anything. That was Jesus dead. Well letter was written in hieroglyphics. This is the big heart. All right. So Nate Diaz this weekend UFC Marvin vettori taken on Kevin Holland Holland fighting again. This is going to be a rough. It might be a rough month for Kevin Holland. He got beat pretty bad by Bronson. He talked the whole time. Dana find again. He's fighting again. He served in cuz cuz what's his name he get injured and he just drop out there until there until yeah injured and now Marvin Sapp who is great wrestler. He lost his mind over that like he was bugging like a fucking bitch has I put all this like fattori was he said mom passed until dropped out. I I'm glad they found a substitute for him. Yeah. I said now Kevin's going to be learning Italian for this fight so you can talk to him. I just thought an Italian guy had a temper. That's weird. I don't know. I like Victorian this right? I mean, you never know what Kevin Holland because he's such a fucking unpredictable fighter, but I I would my money be able to Tori. What about you Don Frye? I have no idea either one of these guys are all right. So the guy from Italy he's a guy that almost be stylebender. It was really really close. He's just been dead on a Warpath this beating people Kevin Holland is a guy who's like six foot two black guy and he's he won five fights and twenty-twenty in a great 2020, but then his last fight against Derek Brunson..

"They wanna build the latin market. Give you guys. You can be also after he wins. Four of five fights on sports illustrated. They're giving him every time there. Handpicking a guy who's never fought you to the die. They know he'll be right. So who lost his mind is like i wanna fight a top five guy when fight you know. So by real in bonnie's told him. I don't remember who they put him it against but joseph was by real can they got him got his asked repeatedly after that or whatever they just almost kind of being got back in the day madison crossing you know. So yes what happened twelve. He could have been. I mean he had time to keep letting you win or give you guys got to improve. And you have see unless that's me in which case i want to fight the second worst heavyweight mets. That was always my mike. Flynn so fry. Did you ever call anybody out or did everyone call you out but even november ever called me out you right number around so there was a lotta guys calling him out on the set of the longest yard. But he wasn't there side by that. Brian rambles. I do apologize for that. The next week on showtime ryan hater beta respite cheetah. I at the first fight. That was crazy because bater had the right. Strategy of just. Don't engage. Take your time until something's there. Then the whole crowd booing like booing baiters like fucking shooting for a double and gets need and talking knocked out. It's like you can't listen to the crowd. I honestly think a lot of these rights. No crowd would be a lot different with the crowd especially the judging to 'cause sometimes like when the judges here the hometown guy getting chiro time he heads. They influence whether or not they were on them. Who like this rematch. Don frye machida or.

"Like him in ring. Easel beijing. i. And you're feeling good today and i like you're feeling good because we're going to get to the the real good part you told me earlier but first we're going to go to. We're going to skip. We're gonna do both men's fights. I just because of the surprise that you have so okay onto the light heavyweight championship Outta sonya versus black a wits brockovich. Boko vich. I don't know how to pronounce it. I'm just gonna call them. Yon b. how. 'bout that yon be get it okay. Art number so we have seven fighters who have one you see championships in multiple weight. Classes out of sonya is looking to join couture. Ten mcgregor saint-pierre komai nunez instead hudo in accomplishing that feat He will be the fifth with mcgregor. Kobe nunez who to hold simultaneously he also be. The fourth fighter and usc history to win is first ten bouts in a row. So yang be has a fifty two percent down percentage which is the best in the light heavyweights among those with five fights yon b.'s. Most recent win was against raise while outta sonya was against hollow kosta. So my friend tell me what do you think about this fight. And who will be the winner. I love this fight. This is going to be one of those who fights where you got the big strong tool five or you know block is going to want to pronounce his name right. It doesn't matter. He has polish power. he has knocked out power. That's going to look for. When he fights that thing is all his all his punches all his strikes off precision. Okay he's not gonna just go there vagueness about he's gonna pick you apart as we did apollo costo and that's what we've done in this kick by career. He's fought heavyweight so the way it shouldn't be a problem. He's fought having a pass. He knows his body. He knows like today. I think just believe he waited out to one. And i believe you're supposed to wait what to best limit for weight so i'll think weight's going to be a problem. I think he's gonna take him out. I'll give him fourth round stoppage due to strikes. You heard it here. First sam who fourth round stoppage due to strikes for addis just is the all day i like it. I like it all right well because we are going to part to this because unfortunately by the time i get this aired it will be after the pay per view is already happened but we are getting this in our expert. Dion clubs predictions so moving in to the women's championship. And there's a reason i did this last. Amanda nunez is betting favourite at eleven hundred. Which is freaking ridiculous fighters favored by at least ten hundred and two tighter fights in the past decade. A victory by anderson at plus seven hundred underdog would be the second largest upset in a women's title..

"So it's a whole different kind of quarantine over there. But all right this week. We got Kevin Hollingsworth Derek Brunson from fight pix and who wins this fight off my blade Aronson? Why just because this is a boy. I have to prune Eric you I'm going with birth to I think he's got more ways to win and since he's been working with Henry who he just looks like a completely different fighter calculated. Hey. And you know, he's also quite a punch so he gets it done now. I watch Kevin Holland train. He talks shit the entire time like I mean, he was training with Chris Curtis. He was just like going off on Curtis. It wouldn't stop talking. Have you ever fought a guy that like talks to whole time both of you and you or woman. I just talked to my component while we were fighting you off every day. She tried to punch out with me to change about that and I just said your clenched sucks and that cluster. So it was great. What about you or not? Really? Because man, you know, I'm usually stopping people even win or lose, you know, they feel me so there's not really much room to talk to you or do you think he'll know what he was doing was gasping for air? All right. Now you haven't talked to do you ever talk shit? Not really, not really. I'm wild like I got to be provoked to talk shit. I think they'll walk in there and talk shit, but you're about the money so it's off. It does not generate more money. I mean if they start chirping, you know, then I'll check back, you know, but other than that, you know, it's just business for me. What about when you play Alabama football how much you're talking about on the football field? Oh my god. Listen locker room is the most hostile environment on planet Earth. There is no place is more hostile than than a locker room. So yeah, you gotta be able to talk shit and take it at the same time. And then on the football field, it's even worse, you know, cuz I'm you know, people are emotionally invested in a win and you know, talk about your mom. Let's talk about everything like oh shit. Wow. All right, and now this week also Gregory these back Gilespie was a national champion wrestler. He got knocked out by Kevin Lee Rock and hardcore. He says that it was easier to lose by getting knocked out than by getting domination here at a lose that way I guess maybe you could be like, well, I just got caught versus I lost every aspect exciting Brad Wardell who's on a five-fight winning streak kickboxer from New Zealand who wins this.

"Be a top. I've got no matter what And if it's Kobe coming to nexus icing on the cake, But I mean, we'll see what they do. If they're going to do call being Edwards. I like your idea. Navy. As versus Edwards, to me makes sense. I just don't see it happening in March, because Nate is a superstar. You can't put it. I mean, yeah, we've seen them put superstars on ESPN cards or free cards before, but I just don't see him doing that for you. Putting ideas. In the main event. You've got to make it a pay per view. But I like I warmed up to. I heard it at first, like I don't like it, then my God. Now it's the more I think about it on the tail end of that great interview you guys did, Which was awesome is always it Makes sense. I like it. I think it sounds awesome. All right. We'll see if they make have. I know, I know too long shot, especially on free TV. But I feel like Edwards deserves a big fight. And I'd like to see it happen and, you know, mates calling out 1 55 years. Why not having fight? A 1 £70 who's ready to go? Who is not a very big 1, 70 pounder who's a top rank guy? A victory over him means something. I just feel like it's perfect. So make it happen. You have seen give us this gift. We have a little bit Leon the little bigger than you're giving him credit for. I remember seeing him. I think I saw the Covington Guzman fight. Okay, Pretty tall guy. He's a He's a legit welterweight, you know, but I think there's one fight to be happy early on, and I'm glad the UFC. They recognize the fact that he's put his way streak on the line. Potentially by old basically an unranked from such mild and they're going to reward him now in the top five fights, So you know kudos to Leon. He deserves that. He's a hell of a fighter. Amen. I hope they actually reward him this time. My great stuff as always appreciate your time. Congratulations on the win back in January. Hope you get well soon and hopefully we see you in there against the top five guy. Come the summer time. Absolutely go next. Yes. "Fast knockout losses. I hear ya the other. Three emissions of three add said we take think of wow unbelievable power employees. So the fact that he didn't weather stool collins a couple of shots. But i think that's never looks Wobbles worried any point on the falcone. She had a coupla shots in the second round then went down. I just tom i. That's the one thing. That is puzzling. People have lots of reasoning for the rest of. You can say it's his team is the mad. He may business-focused ac- says he is but the fact that he just got the first stormy he to whether in round e crumbled. I you just don't see from him. You see a very very calm. That's diaz the second fight. You still very common goes five rounds of winds so to see him crumble in round two in the first organs poor against the guy who isn't like you said isn't well known for these amazing wanchope knockouts. It's yeah it's it's whitman. Brush off the questions. That may something more underlying callers lifestyle. If it's been like this for three years five years one of the seventy s we. We don't know for sure but yeah you can be cleaned for ten weeks six weeks but the the two years five years it's You body doesn't really work. That reminded chuck dell when he got knocked out. You know never first. And then Was he rashad evans. All was he rampage jackson anyway. He got knocked out and then the next five fights got knocked out by everyone. Everyone he full is is a very sudden full. Exactly yeah it's yeah it could be. It could be. The big issue is a big. And he were saying he's in the best shape of and it's all part of his toughest. His thing years ago was that he wasn't reps and roy did up. He was to just had the the quick. The quick striking. That was accurate. How life yeah. The lightsout switch reflexes yet the reflexes when you're when you're pounding on that muscle like he has now on his body shapes change and he's showed them a broader and his arms and bigger. You can see it does going to change. Know you're not going to whip the shots in as quickly because you have bigger arms. You've got a shoulders. You've got more muscle there. Maybe this is completely different. Fights up that we're dealing with now isn't the fall from grace But it's the first proper task tied. Since babe i'm new crumbles quickly okay. Well that's been a good review so let's move on to europe c two five eight and as we said earlier should have been last year. But it's gonna be Ten days or so. And i'd like to start with burns because he's not a very good run up thinking it's eight of the last fights or maybe nine he's last loss was When oak khokar. Tko y- he is a very good all round. He's got some missions. He's got a few knockout so he's a very good old ranch. So what's your thoughts on bums. Is that both very similar. Let both brought out in virginia sue. Both i think double and triple a. Wrestlers burns. I think is was an ex visiting jesse world champion. But now of inada may have transitioned more inc striking instead game and that you know that kind of notice around is now the interesting fight. I think i think spent lightweight for bed. So i think he's returned to well to wait. He's got a couple of windsor was way he's been given the shot against would leave was superb an rounded and you to be an ex jumping an argument that would woodley as an ninette more to be a goal. I got an extra getting dominating in that fashion. That's pretty impressive He probably the strongest pardon for has been at this point. Just just looking. At last the six wins and yet he's good but he's b. meyer but obviously myers wight kostas peak damian. Meyer gonna nelson. Yeah he's a talk ten ish fighter. Zo woodley lost last three the end. The obviously most recent loss was comington looked even worse than he did against some just thinking has really have the caliber whereas fought covington is vote Would lead to get the belt those two three years ago. Four must be dowling's at the top of his game. So i think if you're comparing two knives from a competitive standpoint and who they fall caliber a thing. Whose man is he's quite a bit quite far ahead doesn't mean he's going to win automatically but just looking at who they be in the last four or five fights yet. It's the way division is pretty pretty crowded at the moment anyway. 'cause colby niece have another fight first before we get another type. So shaw you take the bones pushed up to number two you know. He's got a couple of international pushed him up at the top of the rankings. Because the rankings. Leon efforts probably deserves a bit more stephen thompson stephen thompson in there good. He's still in the top ten book. He's our my has been beaten by burns and arguably way way pasta Obviously must without you who have enough shot at some point. I'm sure so burns. That was probably the next two guys to get into can get past jamais of comes. Jamais have is tough test but some of the very similar that both very very elite by pro league level wrestlers very flat out in virginia presented juicy. That could be a really good encounter. but i feel like there's been has the power and he showed most book asians now an sharing that paragon. Koby who is accurate within striking Five rounds i think i think has been pushed. Maybe a little bit higher up and he should have been like you said the colorado the guy but he's beaten the only rail you know the time would be five. Was the one five us department adua. He doesn't complete package now. he's really putting it together. But he has been being guys who is on the way downwards in that correct. Yes i think. I think i'll say the protection of took us about but i think interesting enough musicians on a fantastic run least ten fights in a row one maybe more twelve. But he's he's lost. In his most recent batch was jose careerists And that will submission by remaking choke. So if i was comparing jujitsu between the to give that to burns So fairly comfortably but also the.

stephen thompson Koby ten weeks last year three years second round five rounds two years Zo woodley six wins nine Leon two guys Three emissions Wobbles second fight five years five fights round two two knives

"Whether it's a shooting follow or not. First grade from Biderman is up and in And a murder has been able to cash in on all five free throws to this point this evening. As it's a 66 59 lead in favor of the Packers over the Mustangs to 29 remain in the march 2nd free throws up and good. One of the better free throw shooters here in the E. D. C. And there's a good reason why for Packers 67 Mustang 59 year old boxer scoreboard to 29 remain and regulations do not read to stay tuned for your satellite solutions Postgame show longer to see apparel play the game at the conclusion of this one. As the Packers are looking to be a control up by eight. But if there's one thing we've learned about these Mustangs team the last couple of months and how they've grown, they're never out. Absolutely top of the key. We have a three up my brain back off the island. No good rebounded geese and going all the way will be the Packers with 2 17 remaining here in regulation slowly taking on court by He said. As we have 10 seconds taken off the shot clock here, looking to drive left hand side of the baseline shot is up, and she is gonna be fouled by Metcalf and the B two free throws coming away their senior guard Brent geese in Nice there. She kind of hesitated, went back to her right Then. Back to the left hand got Pastor defender had open Lane and Metcalfe had toe come over and defensively and help out. But got her on the arm. Although it looks like they might have called that fall on Breitenbach with her third I must have missed something. There looked as a little out of contact there between decent in Metcalf. But they're going to say, brain box like you said for her to 3rd 1st free throws up and goodbye geese, and she's up to three of three from the line here this evening. She's up for 14 point in total. Second free throws up and she knocks it down for four from the line. 15 points in total, Her packers were up by 10 69 59 with 205 remaining Mustangs last final burst up to the top like he would man's and looking to go top that he left. Backup, Sabrina Dick looking to try and get past the madcap She's able to complete it. And once again up the top of rain back down low looking for five fights, try to back down and offender shot is up off the iron. No good. Getting the board, though, will be the Mustangs and Breitenbach is gonna end up traveling and she fell to the hardwood. You could test it by a couple of packers. And this may end up being a little too little too late. But the Mustangs are going to give up here. I don't if you saw that teams that was almost another steal by Chloe Foul before that pass, got to her teammate and got a shot up. Just always around the passing lanes, knocking balls loose and just you can see why she's one of the conference leaders and steals this season. Full court, press me and put on by the Mustangs. We have 1 45 remaining in regulation. It's a 69 59 packer lead over the Mustangs. Peterson gets into the front court looking for Simon right hand weighing up the top of the key to geese and had an open three didn't want to take a look. And she wants to kill as much clock is possible for her pack of right hand corner looking for a Dr Left hand corner to dim IRT three is up and Round round out the iron and no good fighting for a board is gonna be Breitenbach and Simon Simon wins that battle up to the top looking for Peterson is able to be recovered by geese in and she has followed by Brianna Dick hard right there. "To make and maybe if they'd been in the ufc for five fights. I think they get four grand for their body here in the prelims and you lose a decision that you that look like ninety five percent people thought you won. You're probably gonna make ten grand or maybe even at that maybe five to six grand and then all that money is going to be gone coaches in partners and nutritionists in what kyle said everyone under the sun and affects you and affects you with a title contender conflict. You as a main card fighter. I mean everything. It's not just one thing and that's one thing we keep seeing too much as. I love it because it really gives these guys huge showcase. You've seen a lot of guys skyrocket from the platform but with dana white. Doing as much as he is with the are contender series man. Yeah those guys are coming in contender. Serio yawn those contracts are notoriously on the lower end of the ufc pay. Yeah absolutely well. They're smart on doing that. And when i listen to was weighing game podcast with a big john. Mccarthy josh thomson to do an excellent job on their big john mccarthy said you know their plan for that is to get fighters on a cheaper Cheaper pay scale. You signed him to a couple of fights than as they work their way up. They will start getting a little bit more money. But it's is it cheaper way. I know i'm saying it incorrectly. Possibly but it's a cheaper way to get him in. You're not paying them in the contract and a lot guys like for miles for example. You know he's talked about this on his youtube channel. If you haven't checked it out. I'll put it in the description. I definitely will for sure to the video. He talks about like when he first got signed to the ufc. He was signed on ultimate fighter contracts. So he was signed to. I'm gonna make x. Necks right matter. If the level of his his competition was going up shirt. That's what he was signed in for the fight for rise and then when you so he had sponsors back then. You know what i'm saying but now you know once reebok come in. You don't have that and you're you're locked into a however many fight contract. I think it was six fight contract from the so we talked about co main event. Let's talk about the main event. Man max holloway is motherfucking savage and corey. Like i told you on the show where we talked about this last week with garrison creed. If i'm max holloway. I am sitting on the couch. I am sitting on a couch. You either give me a title shot or nothin' thousand percents. It's well deserved. it's not it's not even a thing. I think dana weights actually already came out and said in his because he stayed on fight islands so the hunky sweet already kinda came out and said that that is the fight to make me. It was our it was already. I believe how he worded it was. It was already the fight to make even with ortega involved but Wanted different his words. When i listen to a dana said i think we have to make this way. That knows where his words we have to. When you say the boss say that you have to just no other way around it. Whoever went though no district by bryner tatum fan. But this is business. And max holloway. Just know you again. And you know what i mean. So shot give them. I'm not saying. I'm not saying don't messing don't but i'm saying if they did somehow say okay max is gonna take over for take to be shocked has just a business..
