Jacksonville Jaguars Expected to Sign Tim Tebow as TE
"This is austin lane. He's a former. Nfl tight end the host of action. Sports jacks on. Espn radio he was joining. He was joining freddie and fitzsimmons about whether tibo is going to be jacksonville simply for his leadership. The whole narrative that tim tibo coming to jacksonville. Be an urban meyer guy and helping that locker room presence. i think it's baloney. I'm not buying into that narrative because what what guys look for in terms of leadership and guys buy into his guys that have had except you know leaders guys that you can say this guy the baller. I gotta follow him and watch. How does now. I've talked to many times. Tim is a fantastic guy. But i think the whole narrative of you're going to bring him in because he's a great locker room guys all right. Great there's there's tons of great locker got. There's tons of great teammates just like any locker. Rooms made up of all types of people. So i'm not buying that austin lane also talked about. What exactly will tibo be doing assuming. He makes the team the whole narrative. That tim tebow coming to jackson i understand that he knows urban meyer. They have a great relationship. I guess you know. Urban meyer bought a house. experts week. Sent tibo so even if he makes the team. That's going to be great e hollywood. Tv show Urban meyer tim hero next door. It's gonna be fantastic. It's gonna do all the rating. But i do think this. This is urban meyer first year and then i saw and you know he's bringing his guys in. I understand all that. But what earn myers gotta realize. Real quick is that. You can't take anything if tim people is going to make. This team is because tim tebow has earned a spot. There are no you know there is no. I like this guy lot. Let's give him a spot. That doesn't work like that players not locking them. We'll see through that day one so two hundred two things are going to happen either. Tim tebow is not the tight end which we don't think he is and i'll be honest. I'm kind of in that boat or tim. Tebow is a tight end. And he earns his spot and he gets that roster spot and that's it was not good enough during the roster spot. He's not gonna get it. Because of urban meyer gives him that spot. He's gonna lose that locker room in a heartbeat.
Rams' Brian Allen first NFL player to test positive for coronavirus
"Even with social distancing in place for the past month or so you you figure it was inevitable ram center Brian Allen becoming the first active player in the NFL that we know of who says he's tested positive he tells fox forty tested positive last month and that he's now symptom free although he says he has lost all smell and taste since he first tested positive last month but says other symptoms like stiffness and headaches have gone away and he expects to be cleared this week here's ari and Fitzsimmons people are are aren't doing our jobs and and and and so when you don't you don't eat someone's gonna bring it either to you when you are doing your job right whether it's a relative or whomever and it's now it's it's it's hit the NBA it's a Major League Baseball you know to the National Hockey League and now the national football and we had a Chargers you know or above remember the Chargers not their GM head coach or owner right but remember the Chargers is also now reportedly been hit as well so covert nineteen sure there is no social economic boundaries this thing is it doesn't matter okay if you don't do your job it's going to get you even if you are doing your job Moelis someone close to you come near here you know that's the most frustrating probably brought right brain center Brian Allen who are you know Jake was reporting you know even if doing doing his job he may have been not amongst the people are having a party like dak Prescott did you know or throwing passes or whatever like like we've seen the videos and pictures and that's the worst part of look just frustrating Freddie it's a really very very frustrating the latest positive test for a pro athlete ram center Brian Allen according to Fox Sports
William Turner Interview, horse training for the Triple Crown
"Another guy who knows a thing or two about training a good horses trainer Billy Turner. I told you today is his eightieth birthday. The man who conditions Seattle slew to win the triple crown in nineteen seventy seven. Yeah he was born on leap day he is a leap. Ling and eightieth birthday today. He's with me now for a few minutes here on H. R. BILLY. Thanks for taking a little time and happy birthday my friend. Well thank you very much. It's a pleasure to be here. I pointed out the a few minutes ago that if you're born on a leap day you celebrate a birthday every four years. Are you really eighty? Yes this is my. I never dreamed it possible because All my peers. And and so forth. And Sean have all passed away. Well thankfully you are still here with us in. You're able to join me here for a few minutes this morning. Yeah how are you gonNA celebrate your eightieth birthday billy Very very Very quietly and you know when you get to my age you don't you don't advertise your speech thankful for what you you're here billy when I say the name Seattle slew. What are some of the first things that pop into your head well just just a phenomenal athletes phenomenal Al Animal Very intelligent and Phenomenal speed and he could and there was just no quitting and yeah he was ultra tough. You know we talk about horses today. Billy some people say well you have to train them differently than you did. Back in the seventies and the sixties and the fifties and there are different types of horses but look we've seen two triple crown winners in recent years ending a long drought How how do you? How do you get a horse? Ready for the triple Crown Billy. What's what's the key. Well the thing is I was scorch obvious enough to be surrounded by some of the greatest a couple of the grave. Well couple of number of the greatest trainers of of our times and one was sunny. Jim Fitzsimmons in the learning. But Assad Ben Jones and Van Jones as you know we changed for Kalua met and five Derby winners and two triple crown. We're at all that kind of stuff and and the same with the FITZSIMMONS and One thing that That a pointed out to me quietly on the side is Then Jones exercise boys role hundred and sixty pounds or more and I yeah that's a that's a lot and he said They said well. You said you know you You don't You you you You don't doubt the hell out of him every day but you sit on them for an hour and that's one thing both Fitzsimmons in Jones. They would the horse would go out and be ridden for an hour. That is not done today. At all and What that does is it. Just get some strong without putting any undue stress on their on their legs and so forth but it gets their back strong and the the It's the back that vic collapses when the Horse Starts Tiring and it kind of collapses enough so then that puts all the pressure on the ligaments and then you start getting bowed tendons and all that kind of stuff. Well you avoid all that if you have a horse. Well conditioned and taking them out and Galvin and two miles is a waste of time Just things like that and Fitzsimmons said. Never give him a day off. Never get well. He said if they're sick or something like that but but never given the day off and Maybe if you're getting a horse ready for the triple crown and Those are those things are are But that doesn't mean you got the hell out of them everyday document trainer Billy Turner here on the Horse Racing Radio Network celebrating his eightieth birthday on this leap day here on February twenty-ninth Billy when you sit there today on your birthday and you think back on your career in all the success that you've had obviously Seattle slew is always going to hold a special place but is there another moment or two that. Come to mind that when you think back on your career that for whatever reason you're never gonNA forget well They probably right after she had US knew. I had a horse called Czarevich who is One of the first news agencies to Race on dirt in this country and And He was a. He was a very very tough for us to To to to handle because he he walked to the racetrack on his hind legs. Just like command and I I thought well I don't know anything about the case but I'll I'll just let him do that and He turned out to be a good horse. You only ran three thirteen times but he he won eight and he was second in the others. So there you go billy. I remember a few years ago when I was Belmont. Cover one of the triple crown. Say I guess maybe it was even American Feroz Year. You were kind enough to spend a little time with me in the radio booth and sit down for an interview and I told everybody you won't find a nicer person in horse racing than Billy Turner and you're kind enough to spend a little time with me here this morning too so I appreciate that and it was great to hear your voice and happy eightieth birthday. My friend anymore John died and no. Are you related to any of the pen? Is that that I know that. Bill modder trained to go online. I am not no angel. I get that question a lot. Antonio Brown, Wanted On 3 Charges, Surrenders Himself At Broward County Jail
"App from the NFL Antonio brown turning himself into Broward county jail Thursday in response to an arrest warrant filed against on three charges he faces charges of felony burglary with battery burglary of an unoccupied conveyance and criminal mischief stemming or from a Tuesday incident where he allegedly assaulted a truck driver outside is Hollywood Florida home brown trainer Glenn Holt was also arrested Tuesday on felony burglary and battery he was released on a twenty thousand dollar bond for Ian Fitzsimmons on ABC's latest issue I was surprised that the good if the police basically just didn't sit there and wait for him to come out a winner for orders as to come out to kick the door in I would win I'm I was shocked when that happened and if you didn't turn himself in an extended did leave the house he was gonna be cuffs so he had no choice but to turn himself in outlook I don't I don't like what would Antonio brown is done in the last couple of years at all when you read what he's done to some people that he employed out of the female or you know I'm soo suasion yeah it's it is disgusting if they have half of it's true one of them is true I mean it it's nauseating and so this is one where he I'm not I don't want to say that I I I I believe that he has C. T. because the ads I mean that that's going down a very slippery slope sure but I know this I have that bond his birth fact hit three years ago he has not been the same guys started you know acting up in Steelers camp and we saw how that ended then he goes to the raiders and he's happy and all of a sudden a mood swings any he wants his own helmet and he leaves there then goes the patriots now we hear see all these stories are starting to come out about what he did to certain women it this is this is this is gone from one of the greatest wide receivers if not be best wide receiver in the NFL to all of a sudden a very rapid death dissension to the point where now we had to turn himself in because he was going to be arrested for beating up a delivery driver no over four thousand well over four grand to have his stuff delivered from California to his home in Hollywood Florida in it's not like he doesn't have four thousand dollars to pay the

Cowboys to move on without Jason Garrett
"Jason Garrett's time up as coach of the Dallas Cowboys Edward a reporting Jerry Stephen Jones have decided coach will not be part of the organization moving forward on Friday and paid Simmons on why this process lasted so long after the season to other Jerry and Stephen Jones have moved slowly out of respect for Jason Garrett you know they have a long history with him as a backup quarterback you to this is that coach a head coach's father was in the organization when Jerry bapa team as a scout and they finally concluded that phase of this process and that's going to end with Jason Garrett not being a part of the organization beyond his expiring contract and when exactly they make that announcement I thought sure what I've been told soon and that the next phase will have them moving into the process of interviewing candidates in the battle begin quickly after phase one is totally finished off yes was contract set to expire January fourteenth status with the team at issue since last February the cowboys didn't give a contract extension they missed the playoffs in twenty nineteen finish eight neighbor the four time in his tenure as coach Keyshawn Johnson on the job candidates and Jerry Jones himself he was on sports and we stand ready to make a decision on it there was the eight their long term in the obvious would clearly felt that their work you say while they waited till Thursday well the food that just won't really it just is so you kind of say okay take a deep breath we get back to the facilities we talk about a little bit we think about we pondered overnight we need or Thursday we meet on Tuesday we meet on Wednesday we have a conversation and we finally so you know women the best thing for us to do if not give the public what they looking for what they looking for me to do is be extremely mad and walk out of there on Sunday night if fire you on the tarmac so instead of doing that this call wait a couple days are you playing for the cowboys you're familiar with Jerry Jones and and and his thinking all what happens next now in this search for the next cowboys head coach I think a guy like Mike Zimmer Minnesota Vikings head coach could potentially be a candidate you say how could that be well I I II coach there in the deepest corner along try defensive coordinator for Jerry Jones is the bill Parcells fact either stay here they know what they're getting in that particular coach but also there's a young officer coordinator in cabin step band he this sitting there in Minnesota the Minnesota Vikings don't want to part ways with him they don't want him all of a sudden start to get interviews and become a category another team so I would be surprised if somehow might dimmer wind up being the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys in the cabinet she takes over as the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings so a lot of story lines this call come about here over the next with date but I think this time around you will get the head coaching job right where the coach may be season one more before we go do you think that at this point Jerry Jones is ready to surrender more control to a head coach now then he has been willing to in the past as bill Parcells left and and I want to turn this on your stamina I am right now status is not a defense Jerry Jones was some what he is and even as well as we clay as well as Jerry junior what is your you Jones gone wrong with that organization other than the head coaching hire that's a very good question that's very good everybody everybody everybody said here you're you're here the one on that team thank you for calling the latter team for the National Football League I would I would argue and say that their top five channels it is four tally dole is a National Football League the problem is that head coach because you're you're not holding the plate yeah well that gives the player is a free pass for having innate need season the talent on the field didn't win enough games he and Garrett will finish as the second longest tenured and second most winningest coach in team history Tom Landry a record of eighty five and sixty seven the wonders to playoff games unable to get past the divisional round Mike wells Myron Medcalf on Freddie Fitzsimmons the Dallas Cowboys there you know they draw attention but the the the days of being America's team and wanted to be part of what is age and it's not the same anymore it is not the same strictly because of what you have to deal with away from just coaching of football team is not simply you know put together a strong staff the coaster brakes of Amari Cooper Ezekiel Elliott and dak Prescott it's also having the answer constant questions from your boss the owner Jerry Jones deck could become a headache when you're you can't simply just focus on the task of putting your team in the proper position the try to have success there's a side show that comes with it and some people are built or not built to be able to deal with that so you got to find the right coach who is not only a great Exynos guy but somebody who's mentally strong enough to handle the constant you know looking over the shoulders and the pestering of your boss meddling in the inside of things wonder why things are not going well or to give us suggestions on what you should be doing that's not something easy that everybody can handle that type of situation well it and not everybody wants it and that's why I think a lot of these cultures your Matt rules related rallies urban Meyer's why except that to me if you're not going to modernize the structure of your organization so that your owner can do what every other owner does and take a backseat and not be this forward facing figure who's hosting its own press conferences after the game sometimes undermining the head coach then then how can you expect to attract a great candidate bomb out rule no one eight I'm leaving Baylor I got a chance to build something there if I'm leak in Raleigh I'm in Oklahoma and every year I get a chance to go to the college football playoff leave in Oklahoma where I can coach for another decade at least about continue to succeed ever murmur Meyer I'm not leaving LA or on the TV analyst making good money watching a lot of football injuries bouncing around the country see a lot of teams to go to Dallas where I've got a deal with Jerry that's why I think it's going to be difficult if Jerry Jones wants to continue to be Jerry Jones I don't think Mike he's going to end up with any of the top candidates identifying potential replacements Bobby carpenter and fox college football reporter Bruce Feldman gas on Freddie impede Simmons Stephen Jones Jerry Jones offered that coaching job urban Meyer she would say I think that's a hard job to say no urban probably wouldn't be needing to be for another year is that all you but who knows enough the big job at the glamorous job and remember the nose you know damn owns his courage and damn ongoing expound acted it all back thank god yeah I was supposed to do the oil itself journal part of mine and to buy that it was offered so you're going to want to meet your need to guide it was a proven track record we've done it before who's been in the playoffs the only guy that I look at the newest hires cycle that's really available is Mike McCarthy and it's free thank god I'm not that I'm not the biggest Mike McCarthy stand the world but he's the only guy that it holds no one Barty and that is the only thing that Jerry Jones once he is getting older is that you know you if you spend more time on this earth that he's going to spend has the last was starving if you get that oracle Marty troche with them of the order would love to put it in there Mike you've done that you chose to leave and you've been in the playoffs he's done a good job that would be my selection I don't know if they don't know what it does do checks all

"But I love you get your version of it where you're standing in the tunnel and bingles fans, this is when Steelers Bengals were both really good. And it's you know, essentially, a playoff berth on the line. You standing in a tunnel fans are giving it to you guys. And he looks up at you. And he says big, Al and. Any better than this? Do you? Remember where you reply to them was what my mix was it was a little bit exaggerated. You know, always I think that for me, you know, it didn't happen in Cincinnati actually happened. I think. Against the patriots. Maybe the first game of the year that I was I was suited up. I play for me. Full snap. Take. That was a backup. Swing tackle. And I was I remember asking myself. Wow. This is it this is FOX borough. I give the season prime time. Everybody's creamy and everybody's yelling. And you know, all these stars Tom Brady, you know, aren't cow ski Bill Bill to you know, people that have that have been watching on TV forever. You know, I unfortunately grew up a patriots fan, and I like to watch the games. And and I remember, you know, after myself, I well, you know, this is something that doesn't compare nearly to the intensity of of being under night vision goggles waiting. I pick you up and go go go after some guys in and and then that's that's still even to this day. You know to me now coming out of the tunnel emotional, some players get really really tough. But maybe it's because the position that I played well, you don't want any highs and lows. He's running. The middle. What maybe because it is true that you know, for anybody who's ever done it get them push oak. When you see if you can green you hear the found you feel the warmth of the engine as you're stepping in allow noise, everybody's hooking up. She takes off you see a military base in the mountains you start making your descent until the target area. It's you know, obviously, the the drill, and you know, you just can't compare the two things a lot of people would say that it is the most addictive thing. You know that you can find out there, and I'll have to agree with that. I just got chills and be wanna know this week best of luck. "Herbstreet in Fitzsimmons, the podcast Herbie tunnel news this week in a great world of college football with curb street. I'm ianfitzsimmonsespn and herbals begin with the news of the week where urban Meyer's retiring Ryan day is a new interim head coach your thoughts on urban. And then the future of Ohio State football Kirk where you played blood on that field. Yeah. There's been a lot of talk this week about people's impression of the fact that he stepped down and how he stepped down. And what does it mean? And a lot of people are beginning to speculate already that you know, he'll be back in two years coaching somewhere. My my initial thought was I I kind of you, and I've talked a lot in the last four or five weeks on and off the air about some of his antics on the sideline and just some of his mannerisms and just how. Different looked compared to the normal urban Meyer intensity and urban and I've spoken quite a bit in the last four or five weeks as well about just what he's been going through with the cysts in his brain. And how it's impacted him and how he's tried to pull back, and so all the tea leaves were pointing to this happening. And then they go out and blow Michigan out and a huge game and followed up week later with a winning northwestern, and he kind of had his Mojo back on the sideline looking like he normally looks. And I thought this is interesting. I wonder if this might change, thanks and sure enough obviously soon as the big ten championship is over. He had to wait 'til, gene. Smith came back from Dallas where he was busy with the playoff committee and came back Monday and urban urban probably come to grips with this five weeks ago. And maybe that was part of his sideline. Theatrics. So I I don't know I feel like. Not shocked. We lose, you know, great coach in college. Football's one a lot of games and a lot of championships, and you know, for a high state, you know, what what he was doing. Whether he was in the playoff for winning a national championship or winning a big ten championship or beating Michigan. You know, every time you went up against him. It's a it's a significant loss for Ohio State and at the same time. It's kind of weird emotion. You bring in Ryan day who is such a bright future. Whether was going to be at Ohio State or anywhere else. We get a taste of what he can do as a leader in those first three games. When over my urban Meyer was suspended and now he gets a chance to become the face of of Ohio State football. And that is that is a big job. And and one that I think he's excited to take on. And I can't wait to see how he does, and you know, on a personal level. I know both these guys I wish urban Meyer all the best in in his retirement because he's leaving Ohio State. I could. Could tell you that. I don't see him coaching. Again. You know, I think people on the outside world think Notre Dame was always his destination is dream job. And it's always been Ohio State. And now that he's kind of climbed that mountain. I think I see him becoming kind of like the next Archie Griffin in the department, meaning kind of the face of the athlete department. Hey, we're having a golf outing in Palm Springs, you know, urban Meyer goes out and beats with a bunch of boosters. Hey, were we gotta deal in Boca? Can you go down there? Yep. Heading down to Boca plan, little golf. You'll have you'll have that kind of role would be my guess, and I don't I don't we have that gig. And you're watching your son Nate play baseball at university of Cincinnati and hanging out with your daughters, and your wife, and your grandson and other grandchildren that are becoming along. I think that's his next chapter. And on the side, he'll be working in the department. So I wish him all the best on on that that's one hand on the other hand, I'm fired up to watch Ryan day become the head coach and kind of put his own spin on this football program. And I'm I'm excited to see what the future has having lunch with Bob stoops today, and we were talking about how he stepped down and felt good about Lincoln Riley being in the wings..

"Of fans. Herbstreet in Fitzsimmons podcast, thanksgiving's right around the corner. It's his herbstreet Fitzsimmons. Infant Simmons with Kirk herbstreet in Kirk. I am amazed. You're not talking about this about a month ago. But it seems like a month ago was yesterday thanksgiving's here next week and the season. It's coming down to to to here. We are and coming up on a ride. What happened? Smoke a Turkey or do you? Are we going forty deep fry it? Let's see I do. I let my wife and my mom do the traditional oven. You know, when that that for me takes me back to being a kid, but a lot of my peer group, especially now that I'm in the south of talking about the frying it smoking Turkey. So I was thinking of just participating on the sidelines. Just as a backup, you know, just throw on maybe a smoker like a green egg I've ever done that we talked. I think it was three or four years ago before even the podcast, and you were. When I first moved here. And I it was way too dry wasn't feeling that at all. Because I couldn't maintain the heat at two hundred it just kept going up on me. So it's all about air flow with the egg. That's my only son I've got two daughters and have one son, and that's my so how do you maintain like two hundred? You gotta get used to it coach. And this is this is this is where we are in college football right now for this week is if we start off looking into how we're going to get into non dead serious. Get to that point that Syria. Forget three point stance. We're going goal line D. Right. Both hands in the dirt. Here we go. So herb, this is my advice one deep frying. That's an art. And it's it's a love that's a whole different level. Southern that you go deep fried ITAR. You're not ready. You're not ready for that. If you can't, you know, down to stay away from deep frying, let Allie handle the bird, right, and right, you you're you're on the peripheral. I'm a consumer. Yeah. I mean, if you want to do some apps, you know, maybe some some chicken wings on the on the on the egg, right? No, some sausage will some pepper jelly. You. Don't see. I can do the Turkey on the I think you can. But it's it's about airflow, and you have to get like imagine you're spindle on the top. Okay. You want to maybe about put your fingers apart from each other out about maybe two centimeters. And in the bottom. One. You want that open about quarter of an inch to maintain two Honda. There you go. Yeah. Because my my problem is about an hour after about an hour. It starts to climb starts starts to climb. You haven't let it he warm up enough. When you don't want those Kohl's getting white. I can't. And so it's gonna play with it. Dude. You see the problem? You're not during football season. You're gone for the most part. Yeah. I just do you ask real on the football. Yeah. That's that's that's sacrilegious cheating. Right. Oh, dude. Yeah. Yeah. But you can handle the Turkey is a is a cult. I mean, just go online Troy Aikman on on eggs site king. Vice or how do I slow smoke a Turkey? Well, then he and I great minds think alike. He's got the same issue. I've got to go there. It is. I mean, I'll text him and ask him if he came up with any answers. And this is what we're dealing with coming into week twelve of the college football season with thanksgiving on the horizon. And can I can I just say one thing about week twelve quickly on the college football season. Please I think this is a great example week eleven and twelve. Of why we truly need a Commissioner of of college football because the commissioners of each of the conferences have their own conferences, and their coaches and their schedules and athletic, directors and constituents in mind, they kind of live in a silo the networks live in a silo. Everybody's kind of not working necessarily for the betterment of the sport there working for kind of their world. And you can't blame them under the current model. I just think that it's a shame. We get so excited to celebrate college football in late August early September..

"And also Jalen that matter because he's getting a lot of run to just explain how this offense clicks with especially with two I quarterback. What is it? I mean, ultimately, we know that we've got two great guys at quarterback that can play at a high level and that could be incredible lead as far team. Jalen did it for two years now to is doing it? So regardless of who's under center, we know that we've got two guys that can be prolific players in our office. I think too is an incredible job this year. Obviously the way he's playing right now is unbelievable. I mean, it's like something that we've never seen before getting to play with him and see what he's doing what he's accomplishing was truly special for us in our team. But like I said we've got a lot of guys that can play that position at high level. So we're lucky to have both of those guys in our in our office. How much money you having right now. I'm having to tell them my life. We're undefeated where when the best offenses that's come through them in a long time. We've got a lot of guys that we can get the ball to to make plays in our office. We put up a lot of points a lot of yards. You know, we're just having a really good time off is really clicking right now. We're meshing well with coach Loxley. So, you know, it's a time of our lives. I'm as the two time national champion. He's a rare senior running back, and he's one of the best in America, Damian Harris, Alabama here with us on herbstreet Fitzsimmons. Daming we'll see you on Saturday night. I can't wait. Thanks for the time is always young Herbie and fits my friend be healthy. Yes, sir. Appreciate your tone. Getting knocked down on the football field. Makes you tough. But getting back up makes you tougher at Goodyear, we call that determination a willingness to put in more hours more reps and more of heart to reach a bar. That's guy because the Goodyear blimp doesn't show up for just anybody. Just anybody. Blimp worthy. More driven Harvey. Let's get two games baby. And there's a lot of them. And now, it's it's week three essentially the college football playoff elimination games for a lot of teams. We had it two weeks ago. What teams like Oregon or Washington to go on down the list right last week for Florida, Georgia? And now here we go again, but the rankings are out. So it's more top of mind. Let's begin with the biggest one on the weekend. I'll be there with ESPN radio with Bill rosinsky, David Norrie on the call your they would game day. It's going to be there already drinking. I mean, it's it's insane. Right. Number one roughing texting me on Monday. Hey, get to Darren in her. Let me know how many they need for Friday. Gotta know because we're Fino's is getting packed, ladies and gentlemen, that by the way is as good as it gets when it comes to dining on the road, Alabama LSU coach, what do you see? Like, we always talk. We'll be refuse. That's the that's the priority of the of the weekend to get the get things started. So that crab meat on top of the red fish. I do I do go crab meat on top of. Yeah. There. I you anything he recommends. I I typically step into the battery FOX and take a swing. They get cut. Yeah. So so the game itself, you know, if you go back and look LSU it at night against Alabama in Baton Rouge. Even when they don't win the game. The games are always down late into the fourth quarter..

"That's that's another thing that I got from day, you know, 'cause during our workouts, of course, we squat and do things like that. Oh, I remember after it might have been every Tuesday or Wednesday practice. I would we would come in off the field, and we would go through the weight room. And I was dick Henry squad like five hundred pounds after practice. I what is this guy doing? It's just a part of part of how he prepared and how he sustained his body and how he kept his body shapes was able to do what he did. So like, I said, I definitely learned to love it after that. Now, are you that guy now going over after practice cracking neck? Let's go knock this out. Really quickly. Yeah. You know, there's been a couple of times this year when I've gone in Tuesday's after practice guy got some discourses. Yeah. You go. I let's get to coach Damian Harris senior running back one of the best in America here with us on herbstreit and Fitzsimmons. Saw it. It's alabama. It's LSU. It's at night. It's one the three when you hear that what immediately comes to mind. I mean, this is why we came down the Bama playing games like this environments like this. We know it's going to be one of the most electric atmospheres college football seeing this does valley. So you know, you just gotta look at it. Like, this is why we came here. You know, we didn't come here to play Louisiana Lafayette or Arkansas state. You know, we we came to play in these big time game. So, you know, just that's why we came here. And that's what we're what we're excited about two years ago. I had you guys down in Baton Rouge night game tend to nothing, and it was the most remarkably entertaining tens zip game I've ever seen. It was the second hardest hitting game of ever seen as a field analyst number one Ohio State Miami the national championship fiesta bowl. Go back and look at those two deeps the day and you'll like everybody on the on the to Deepa both teams it feels like got the pension in the National Football League. Right. Saying you guys two years ago. Second hardest hitting. Hate filled behind the pads hits being delivered that I've seen. What is it about? This matchup again going back to that game. You played in two years ago again coming up on Saturday that has that feel to it. What is it? It's just that's what the game is about you know, to absolutely dominant physical teams the SEC the toughest conference in America going head to head and one of the biggest games in college football. I mean, you can't really you can't really put it into words. It's just one of those big time games. One of those almost a rivalry. If you will, you know, they don't their fans don't like us are fans, don't like them. Anytime we play each other. It's just a hostile environment. And you know, like you said it's one of those knockout fifteen round fights incredibly physical game. And we're ready for no Devon white on the best players and all of college football. They're all American linebacker. How does that change at LSU defense in the first half? You know, that's one of the main guy, you know, it's a signal. Call. There the guy that gives them a lot of energy a lot of emotion going into their games. I played incredibly hard like you said one of the best players in the country. But ultimately, whether he plays or not that doesn't affect how we prepare doesn't affect how we get ready. And you know, we're just gonna approach this game the same way whether he was planning that should there. Be an incidentally rule that in Alabama team coached by Nick Sabin should not be allowed to have an exceptional quarterback fair. Oh, I don't know. If people really like that. I mean, we enjoy it. So. I'm thinking about it. But I sure the people if you ask somebody on the house I world they might say it's a little bit of. As we wrap up man, and Dami, we all I always enjoy catching up with you here on Herbie and fits well. What is it about to?.

"Take it right away. Guy catches it in stride picks up twelve yards. Hey, the tight ends up, oh, open in the middle linebackers boom. Take that as an eight yard pass second to like he's doing those things for sixty minutes. And so the challenge this week, Virginia Tech at lane stadium, or it's a hostile environment. But foster, I saw their defense week one against Florida state, and they're supposed to have all these new faces. They lost a lot of guys to the NFL and man. They were in the face of Florida state, challenging them. And here we are weak. Six and looking back was at really bad Florida state, or was it a combination of bad Florida state and really good, Virginia Tech. I think we'll learn more about that in this game. Don't forget Josh Jackson out a quarterback for Virginia Tech. And now that Ryan Willis to transfer from Kansas who transferred over and walked on Virginia Tech started last week against Duke and played incredibly well through for over three hundred yards. Now, he's got to go up against him very, very athletic, Notre Dame defense. So this this, this good game. I think you know, the hokey is gonna play. The probably one of the better games they played all year. They're embarrassed after what happening. It's Old Dominion a couple of weeks ago. They bounce back and beat a top twenty five team last week and Duke. And now. Get a chance against the fighting Irish who always have tendency to bring out the best in whoever they play. So be a good seeing. Can't wait ABC Saturday night, eight o'clock dial in eastern time, five o'clock, happy hour on the west coast. By the way, there's one team you told me about before the season began like keep an eye on this particular squad. That would be the Colorado buffaloes your buffs or four. Oh, I'm sure Fowler's excited. They're ranked in the top twenty five brain welcome in the fighting harms of Arizona state stood out to know now to into buffs your buffs Herbie only two point favorite at home. What do you see your Colorado? I think this Colorado team is a team that's needs to be taken seriously. I think they'll take care of business against ASU, especially at home and the big showdown game that will preview next week is going to be against USC. They got to go to the LA Coliseum. You can say, whatever you want about USC I know they're not the team that they were a year ago, but they're going to get better each week because there. Young, but it's so many key areas and when you have youth, but it's talented youth is all those reps that they get make them better and better and better. And so next week, Colorado USC to me showdown to whoever's going to represent win the the Pac, twelve south to get the Pac twelve championship. But I think I Colorado has got to be able to show that they can handle winning and prosperity and pats on the back. And I think they'll take your business especially at home against ASU the Saturday, a man. Again, the fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The ferns hit the fried, tried king. He's fried Snickers all do they get a sweet, crispy, deep fried rice, don't know how they did it deep fried ice cream this year, cotton candy taco. That'll drop you right there. Tell me what's the all everything under the sun being fried there. I mean, I get go to the state fair and things are fried, but they take it to a whole 'nother level there. They got deep fried shepherd's pie this year. I know good luck with that one. Can they'll bring it all up on the set? They do it every year. You kind of freak out a little bit unless you got some barbecue up there, then you like you. Over to Pollock and reach. Not a huge ride guy. I, I like I, you know, I a lot of the other stuff, but we'll throw it over to rescinding coursing shank from lonesome dove over and you can get go ahead and dominate that kick back and enjoy. "Getting knocked down on the football field makes you tough. But getting back up makes you tougher at Goodyear. We call that determination a willingness to put in more hours more reps and more of heart to reach a bar that sky high because the Goodyear blimp doesn't show up for just anybody. So don't be just anybody be blimp worthy. Good here more driven. All right. Herby let's bring in a guy. You've got to know. Well, over the years he's been at then Tuscaloosa for over a decade, which is amazing when you think about it and that is the head coach of the Alabama crimson tide Nick Sabin returns to herbstreet and Fitzsimmons with Kirk herbstreit and Fitzsimmons and coach. We're we're four weeks into the season now and each week. Obviously you try and challenge you guys. We can week out, but after now four weeks in what have you seen from your team? What have you learned about your squad. I think that we've made some improvement as a team. I always think there's areas that you know we would like to continue to improve. I think that we've, we still make too many mental errors on defense. We haven't been consistent and the way we've been able to run the ball on offense. Special teams has been good, but we have gotten too many penalties on special teams. I think we have almost one hundred fifty yards of returns that we took off the board because of some kind of penalty. So there's plenty to work on on. There's plenty for every individual player to work on. We actually did it assessment this week of every position and every unit as to what would need to improve on. And those are some of the high points. Yeah, sometimes the fans, all of us get caught up in in the players and what's happening. But you know it was. It was pretty clear for people who really follow your program closely. Not only did you lose Brian, Cabell as the office coordinator to buffaloes and the new c. back in the NFL and Jeremy Pruitt to become the head coach at Tennessee, but you lost a number of assistance. Just building that, and I know that's a big part of your of your program. How is that transition gone now that the season is started and they're starting to kinda learn your way of doing things not in spring ball or to it as but now actually during the season. I think it's going well lease with our staff. We've got a really good staff. I think one of the best staff we've had for a long time, but the transition has been a little more than any other year that I can remember because of the numbers and the volume and all changes in leadership positions. You know, change in offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, special teams coordinator. So it's been good that we get a lot of new ideas and enthusiasm from these people. But we also, you know, have a work in progress in terms of everybody kinda learning how we do things. So it's it's been a little bit of a learning experience for a lot of guys on the staff, but I'm very pleased with the progress that we're making. And you know, I think the relationships at the players are really good at every position. So I think that's most important as well. Coach, we, we live in an era where social media, you know, players have access to things that no matter what you try to do, not just you, but any coach tries to do it at the facility or when they're around you, they're they're hearing sayings in in in being potentially affected by things for every team in college football, your team especially has to deal with well, they're, they're so good. You know, to is so good. Nobody can beat them. Alabama could beat NFL teams. How do you control that narrative and make sure your team blocks out that kind of noise and keeps their foot on the accelerator in doesn't kind of get ahead of themselves because obviously you, you do it every single year..

Herbstreet in Fitzsimmons the podcast with Kurt street. I mean, if it Simmons, thanks for spending part of your time with us here on Herbie and fits in her one. You are in the middle of a monsoon right now. I, we've been in the same way here at my home in Dallas, Texas. You make your home in Nashville, Tennessee. I would love to see sunshine again, but as you now we're talking before we came on if disk it's like fall into our lives and we can stop sweating. When we wake up in the morning, I'm in coach, I mean, bringing on, let's go, monsoon it up here. Can you hear the rain? I'm serious. Oh, yeah. Can you hear dude? It sounds like like like pellets, like a BB gun hitting you. It's one of those rains where you have to drive about ten miles an hour because you can't see if you go any faster than that. It is really raining and the good news is according to the weather report here in Nashville. This should be the end of the humid and it should. There should flush it out. And I just saw low tonight a fifty nine alot. You know the last time we saw low of fifty, nine natural. I mean it had to be I don't know, probably April March. And so this is this is a big day for us here. We'll take this rain. This is this big. You remember when you were deciding where you and Allison and the boys, we're going to go and move on at four. Fort Worth and Austin was the first question you asked me about coming here. I think I asked you how hot is hot. That's it. I mean how you said don't lie to me. How hot is it? We haven't seen to fifty eight since I think mayor and had a birthday. Right? And she's ten now. My youngest daughter with you, man, we're gonna hit like low sixties. I don't say that I'm telling you right now. I've finally realized that I'm destined for the west. I gotta get. I gotta get to the mountains out west. I got. I gotta get to Denver. I gotta get the Jackson Hole. I gotta get west Hannity. I gotta get. I gotta get with a humidity is not allowed to come visit. And so that's my next adventure. I still have. My kids are still a little young, I think, for me to do that. But once the last ones out if you're looking for me, that's where I'll be somewhere in the mountains. I'm with you. We got rid of our house and by the way we will talk college football, Nick, Sabin, head coach, Alabama. You might have heard of him. He'll be here in a little bit where preview all the remarkable slate of games coming up. We got what five, six top twenty five match ups that will get to. But this is much more important as Herbert tired, tired of. Goal bundy's we're done with them, right. I mean, we're talking up. I mean, let's go, let's move on right. You ran with that that Wyan that you have a lion for dog in Big, Ben is nickname, was MU Fossa. For reason, you ran six miles with that beast this morning the I take him every morning. We have some great woods here. We, we make our way through the woods and he's he and the younger one's name named steal. I don't give him much play till he starts to follow the rules of the house. He's he's still a puppy. So he's still in training..

"Yeah. Yeah, I do keep track of them. I talked to a couple of them every week. I mean group chats with all of them text them every day. So I can't in touch with them. Haven't had a chance to watch their games yet. 'cause they've kind of just coincided with ours, but I definitely keep keep in touch with all of those guys. How hyped would it be if Ohio State and LSU played like in a playoff yet? Would that be high. Yeah, I, it would definitely be hyped it sure would it'd be it'd be very weird, but we, there's a, there's a long season to go before that happens. Or come on man. Along. How how would that be for him? You know, for three years? Yeah. Yeah. I know he's got a lot of a lot of wood that between now and the and the postseason, but man. Good, good. Good luck to you. It's been a lot of fun to to watch you guys in these first three games and man. When that when that kid hit, you hit that crossing route and he took it to the house, it was like, oh my gosh, these these guys, they're about to try to do this. I mean, this is going to happen, but did that surprise you when he did? You know he obviously had those kinda wheels when he made that catch and came across the middle and then ended up taking it the rest of the way you got him run before? I never. I've never seen him run quite that fast before. Thank God. He's gone. Nobody was catching on that one. It was sweet. Well, Joe next time by the way is a pre game brawl. It's about to break out. Get get good chiklis. Okay. You don't need to get in the middle of that with the big boys like you dated. When I saw you at Miami, just go, you might want to go the other way, but I know that's not that's herb was describing, that's not your mentality, but there's some big boys that you were right in the middle with. So I'll be in there every time. If that happens. Go gotta worry about that. Right there there it is. There's love is a linebacker playing quarterback for the LSU Tigers. Hey, joke, continued success. Best of luck against Louisiana tech this weekend. We'll talk to you soon. Thanks for being here with us on herbstreit and Fitzsimmons and appreciate it. I tell us you quarterback Joe borough and Herbie as you and I talked earlier in the season. I mean, I, I saw him week one in that Miami brawl that almost developed kind of did develop and he's right in the middle of it going. You don't have to look for me. I'm right here wearing number nine. This LSU bunch man. They will fight you till the end and it feels like they're playing forget an edge Herbie. They're playing for the coach. I mean, Devon white even told us that. I mean, they're playing for their coach. Yeah, I mean, they'd been doubted by even their own fans. It's not people like me and you and whoever else it. Outside of their own football building when the season started? I don't. I don't think other than relatives there weren't a whole lot of people that thought this team could be sitting here three. Oh, so more power to them. I think it's, it's been great to see a love teams that play with passion or love teams to play with an edge to them. And if it takes, people doubting them to get them there, then then Soviet a- hope hope it continues. I will say, you know, as far as with what we see with Joe and him talking to us about, I'm not going to change..

That's guy because the Goodyear blimp doesn't show up for just anybody. So don't be just anybody the blimp worthy. Good here more driven. All right. Herby let's bring in the quarterback. It'd be LSU bingo, Tigers and they'd have not just one, but two wins over top ten teams the time that they played one on a neutral field. One on the road against Auburn, on Saturday, with curved infant Simmons. Let's bring in a quarterback of LSU. Bingo, Tigers wherein number nine proudly. And that is Joe borough here on herbstreet Fitzsimmons and herb. Whenever you go down to Baton Rouge, you get like an three point stance and attack repeals Rufino is my favorite. The red fish to blackened redfish down there among the apps. They just keep bringing. It just keeps coming and coming and coming. But Joe, we'll talk football and the second, but how? How enjoyed the food down there in Baton Rouge. It's pretty good. Yeah, it's very good. My first week I was here again, solid ten pounds. So I figure out how to eat healthy down here been over to walk onto. I'm sure he'll I've been trying all the places we're Fino's. I actually have not been to yet. Oh my God. You've gotta go to Fino's. Yeah, that'll probably be my next stop. Yeah. Yeah. How much fun you having you look like you're planning. It's Miami, you're planning against Auburn and this a guy that has always had a lot of promise in upside. But you you've been behind j. t. Barrett at Ohio State who had a brilliant career and you decided to make a move and be able to be a grad transfer and play right away you, you pick LSU and you get thrown right into some great games. How much fun is this to be back? Not only playing playing in these high profile games and taking names. Yeah, it's been. It's been a great experience so far, obviously being a backup, three years was puff 'cause I'm such a competitor and I tried to do as much as I can as the backup. But now that I'm getting shot, it's been really fun. How did you go about the process? How did you select. LSU. Did you always wanna plan LSU or they a team that you thought about? It was more about a potential opportunity who else was in the mix? How'd you end up at issue? So I I was transferring, and then I got about one hundred calls in a day and had to vet who is serious about it who was just calling because they needed Deb who's looking for a starting quarterback, narrowed it down to Cincinnati, North Carolina here. And obviously I knew a bunch of people at Cincinnati from the time at Ohio State with coach fickle and loved it there when I went on my visit and then came down here for my visit the next the following weekend and kind of just fell in love with it and kinda knew that was where I was going to end up playing. How is the system. Fit your skill set, your your feel is far as what you've been in and what you kind of aspire to be as a quarterback, what what do you? What do you think of what you guys are doing so far? These first three weeks, I kind of just figuring out who we were not. We only had two returning stars in those are the only two guys that had any meaningful playing experience. We are kind of figuring out who we were. I think the direction offense is going is really suited for my skill set. Joe, it's incredible to watch your team. If you go to the Miami game, who has a great defense and you watch how you guys are able to make plays, your defense is flying around. You guys are doing enough on offense to be able to put points on the board win that game. The next high profile game this past week against against Auburn, you've been into a lot of big ten stadiums and seen some atmospheres, but you can make an argument that Jordan hare when their defense is on the field, especially on third down is is intimidating as loud as anywhere that you'll face,.

"Slash Herbie ZipRecruiter the smartest way to hire TCU at coach, Gary Patterson, then Ryan day next radio and Herbie and fits getting knocked down on the football field makes you tough. But getting back up makes you tougher at Goodyear. We call that determination a willingness to put in more hours more reps and more heart to reach a bar. That's guy because the Goodyear blimp doesn't show up for just anybody. So don't be just anybody be blimp worthy Goodyear more driven. I let's bring in the head coach of a TCU horn frogs here on herbstreit and Fitzsimmons the podcast, and that's Gary Patterson and coach. You know, I don't know if a lot of people realize there's only five FBI programs have finished in the top ten of the final eight people. These three times in the last four seasons, Alabama, Clemson, Ohio, State, Oklahoma, and TCU two of those five matching up Saturday night in Arlington, Texas. What does that say? Not just about this game, but about those two programs and where you've taken TCU. Where we've come a long way, you know the way people are those your, they forgot what you did yesterday. So now it's about what we can do this year. But you know, when we first came in, they didn't think that we could compete and probably play at this level. And here we won forty games in the last four years and in the big twelve conference and played in the championship game last year, one peach bowl, Rose Bowl, and so. For us. You know, you just keep climbing. I think we're, we're not we're we're out, but I think people have taken notice and they and they know that we're very former little Ponant when they play us. How important are these type of matchups to marquee teams marquee programs for just a game of college football? Well, to me, that's really important. You know, especially for us as we as we're trying to catch up. You know, historically, they've been that way forever. Ohio State has in for us. It's it's about catching up with it because we want to become one of those that people don't don't say that this, you know, we're an underdog approach 'cause we play with a chip on our shoulder, but we're really not an underdog. And so how do we, how do we get to where people understand that TCU's a big time place and and we, we go out and try to prove that every day you know, coach being based here in Dallas, Texas, I understand what you guys are coming from even screaming at me for years. Going back to Galvin company of helmet with TCU is, and I think that that the perception in Texas is TCU is on that level. And sounds like it's, it's still still drive you like the rest of the country doesn't understand what you've built there. How much of that is maybe maybe more than a chip, almost a boulder on your shoulder that you use motivation coming into games like this. Yeah, Yeah, you know. you know, I think you know, really, we're probably more respected. We don't hear them talk a lot. Maybe not in the media, but people people all the time how they what they like watching TCU play because how hard we play in how we do things. And so I think you know, for us to understand is we just we have to change the perception only way you can do that as one day to time one game at a time and and to go win championships and try to get where we need to get to. And that's, that's what we're trying to get accomplished. One of these games, this game against Ohio State on Saturday night. It's one of those games where you're trying you gotta see where you're at, you gotta. See, 'cause we have a younger team. A lot of our team is younger where we, what are we gotta grow or how good can we be? You know the potential because if we if we can keep it these guys or find a way to win a ball game in this game, what you're going to get find out, you're gonna gain competence from either one of those and moving forward into plan Texas next week, starting in the big twelve season. So for us as this is a good game, so we can kind of match which and find out where we're at and how. We do things. So here we go, Gary Patterson, head coach TCU here with us on herbstreet and Fitzsimmons..

"And what I hear from a lot of the media people in a lot of the fans is, you know, UCF they're undefeated, how can you do that to them? That's not saying if so, part of me wants to see these great non conference games and the other part of me understands why people say, hey, the goals to be undefeated. Everybody gets excited if you defeat a, why should I play a big time non-conference even though that makes me sick to say that, but the way the system is set up, you know, you could make an argument that why, why challenge yourself? If the committee's just looking at the record as opposed to the teams that are willing to go out there Washington's the same thing, they went all the way across the country and played all over and it was a hard-fought game. They lost at the end. If they if they ended up winning the next seven or eight games and they're going to be behind, teams are undefeated. Is that fair to Washington after that that game against a great team like Auburn, you know, so that that that's a that is a great argument. And that's what will be doing. In about seven weeks, we'll be arguing these very topics, and you'll be screaming and yelling at certain committee. Yes. Here we go. Yeah, I want you start to get rid of JAL start sweating. Sweats at thanksgiving, right back around to forget for three point stance. We want goal line right at both hands in the dirt and all of a sudden, yeah. Crystal clear here I would give if I were on the committee and you have Washington and AM as examples and they're sitting there at eight and one, and they got about four weeks to go to play football. And there are teams ahead of them for the sole reason that they're undefeated I would be in that committee room. I would be beating on a table saying, how in the world are these teams who haven't played anybody in the non conference? How in the world are they head of a team like am who is willing to go out of conference and a team like Washington, who is willing to out of conference and by the way they didn't get blown out. They fought in laws than last minute or two of the game, like those teams need to be rewarded. Otherwise, if I were every AD I would schedule every non conference game where you can win by forty points and stay undefeated if you're not gonna reward, those seems what's what's the message that you're sending to the athletic directors in head coaches, and that's one, especially Washington. I had that game. Shady's Benz. They had. Replay basically in auburn's backyard. Auburn gets under nice buses bu- goes about a buck, o eight drive the road Washington coast to coast to play basically a road game and went down to the last minute and a half in that game. So they're still ranked tenth in the AP. ADM should be ranked there on those others receiving votes, right behind Utah. I'm with you. Am should be ranked even right now by the Associated Press and coaches pulled curves, dummy in Fitzsimmons, hear on Herbie and Fitz, and we wanna thank all state for teaming up with the herbstreet Fitzsimmons podcast. This year, AllState is also teaming up with fans across the country to let them know about the magic of mayhem now, mayhem during college football season. Well, it's inevitable. We were just talking about it comes in Texas him, what are the mayhem is good or bad. It will definitely. It's Mark where that memory is about a backup quarterback, leading his team to a second half comeback in the national championship or memories from the countless robberies across the country, may him in college. Football cannot be stopped. Unfortunately may end does not stay in the stadium. Fender benders on the way home pop tires, cracked windshields mayhem is everywhere. That's why we are here to remind you. It's the mayhem moments off the field that AllState is here to help you with. You know, us as the experts to cover the mayhem in the game, believe it to AllState to be your expert for the mayhem off the field. Another aspect that people have their head scratching it in in college. Football herb is what is going on with Texas, speaking of non conference games on campus..

"Opinion and they like it and it's, it's fun to watch them as they start to figure it out and then they'll start to bring the. Yeah, that's a great idea. You know. And it's fun to let them hear that because once they understand that, then you can coach them to the level you want to and then they can repeat the things they do well, and they can correct a mistake, Texas, San 'em head coach, JIMBO Fisher joining us here on herbstreet Fitzsimmons and there for fans out there that that watch teams play, whether it's their team or other teams. And it seems like there's a lot of either or quarterbacks for some teams this year. You've been around the game a long time, and you don't have preseason like you have in high school or the NFL in college. You have some interest scrimmages for a couple of Saturdays. And here you go, you jump in and play. What do you? What do you think the best way to try to figure out who the guy is such a pivotal position when you're looking at an either or kind of situation whether it's yourself or you know, other other coaches that are trying to deal with that, how do you figure that out? Well, I think first of all, yes, forget what. Guys can and cannot do. And is that, is that what you're featuring him to do? If you're asking God to do something, he can't do that his fault or your fault. And I think understanding a guy transcend weaknesses, how he learned what he does that type of throws. He can make what he can't make, then I think is psychological disposition to compete. And I think that's where the team helps you out those guys. You know, I always knew this when I went to the park and played, I had buddies on the team and you probably did this to. We go play and I know we lost. We wouldn't play for another hour and a half. Everybody sitting around wanted to play a basketball game or something. I wouldn't make my buddy. I loved him, but you can watch the play. I wanna play. I wanted somebody out here is going to play lead, and I think sometimes the teams, disposition of who they follow and how they call, you know what you win the team or you how the team reacts to you and how you get those guys. And I think the other part of this is and I really mean this too. It's not just an authentic thing. We talk about each quarterback sometime to quarterback can be a product of the people around him, and you know, his talents don't match what's around him as far as running backs off into line or receivers, and then you're defend what makes your team win best? What put your team in the best position to be successful in the big picture things and sometimes guys can be great player. You see it in pro football guys. He gets from a team go to become a Pro Bowl guy somewhere else. I mean, you know, I, it's just how that team react, how you complement each other offense defense and how you have to play to win. And by the also the supporting cast that's there with him. I, I've seen a lot of people analysts and other people who are writers talk after. Four or five days or the opening week in college football. The the thing that they think about the this, the maybe a theme that they're seeing is offense of line play in this era of spread for even high school teams running spread that they feel that the offense of line play a from the Pac, twelve all the way across to the ACC just all the way across the country that it's not what it used to be because these these linemen are growing up in in different philosophies in more of a spread in. They're coming off the ball and therefore they're not controlling the line of scrimmage your thought on when you used to recruit offense of linemen in the nineties version, recruiting offense alignment today. And do you agree with this pattern or you think it's it's a different anyway? I do think because of their training. I don't think the kids ready to kids are probably even more gifted now. Sure your develop more, but I think you're a product of what you do all you..
Steelers, Bell and ESPN discussed on Freddie & Fitzsimmons
"The eagles Steelers running back beyond bell did not report to the teams facility today as yet to sign his one year franchise tender, ESPN, Steelers, reporter, Jeremy, Fowler. So you're looking at almost a million a week here. Fourteen point, five million dollar franchise tag tender, split up over seventeen NFL weeks. Eight hundred and fifty three thousand per week. So even Bell's looking long-term, trying to preserve his health at a serious point to walk away from, and really the Steelers won. Act brashly

"Tech, Florida state coming up on Monday night, eight o'clock eastern time on ESPN. Give me twenty seconds on this matchup between two teams, Hungary and an early. You tell about early conference battles, big ones. This is a big early conference tilt in the ACC well, for real quick. Justin point in his third year one nine games last year, a big turnover. If you watch this game, we'll be fun because you're going to be seeing a lot of new faces on Virginia Tech, especially their defense. But you know, but foster the defensive coordinator and you know how he likes to crank it up and get guys a play with their hair on fire, and they'll be doing that, but with a ton of freshmen. So that's what I love about college football is it's like. That new that new year, it's a new era, a bunch of new faces familiar names and faces are gone, and you'll get a chance to get up close. Look at Jinnah texts defense on Monday and the Andre Francois comes back. He, of course, had the injury against Alabama. He was a star as a freshman in sixteen missed, almost all of last year one, the job against James Blackman, and now it's Willie Taggart is first game. Florida state to me, feels like they're forgotten team out of the ACC. It's all about Clemson, even Miami, very little talk about Florida state. I think they sense that they feel that if you look at their roster much like Virginia Tech, if you watch this game, you're not going to see a lot of faces. A lot of young players, especially on the Florida state deterrents much like Virginia Tech, and we'll see who is it's impossible even for Willie and for just in the coaches to predict how these young kids are gonna perform on national TV front of that big crowd. So. Let's see what happens, but that'll be whoever wins that game. I think it's a lot of juice and a lot of momentum hadn't end the week to upset ten seconds Herbie last year on fire manning five and, oh, double digit, upset wins to start seizing. You gotta help me out if these are considered upset, you come to you. I got you. Tell me if it's an upset. I've got Wyoming who I watched on week zero play and that defense from Wyoming is nasty. Are they a dog to Washington state? I got to know that they are. They are okay, you're, you're making that up. But yes, we're going right now. They're a dog when you're doing that just because the names of the teams. That's what I wanna know. I wanna know if their dog or not. If if they aren't, I'm looking as we're talking here. I'm dying to absurd off. Point and a half. It's a point and a half so that. But I, I like Wyoming. That's almost a, I would say, guaranteed lock that Wyoming is gonna win that game. And then the other one, this is going to be a little bit more of an upset. I'm gonna give you West Virginia and Tennessee so much excitement, and I don't blame him. We'll Greer west. Virginia's gonna, throw it around and they got all these playmakers which they do and poor old Tennessee. They got a new coach and nobody knows any of their players. Nobody had. They don't have a chance, be careful, Tennessee, sneaking around. I think Tennessee upsets West Virginia in week one. Now. That's a ten point. Hitter that's ten pointer. So we'll take the points but don't be shocked. Third quarter, you're watching that game and old Tennessee's not only in striking distance. They may have the lead. I think the vol's get one done for Jeremy Pruitt and week. One at that one, my friend. That's what I'm talking about right there. Probably gimme BYU plus eleven against Arizona, not outright upset, but I'll take the eleven my friend and I'll throw this one at UTSA the Roadrunners Frankel state you love Frank Wilson. Whenever you get an eighteen points with UTSA it's just you just you just take it. It's just it's a, it's a given. Just take care who they're playing. Get back to study. You have like six games this week. My man go, go, get them. Thanks. You always make your top Herbie. We're back baby. I should talk Christmas going early. Here we go. "Our top five six games coming up on the weekend here on herbstreit and Fitzsimmons and let's begin with where college game day is, and that's Notre Dame and Michigan. We were just talking about a ton of pressure on LSU for top twenty five AP team. Coming into the season. We haven't seen that kind of pressure week one on a coach or team her how much of that is on these two squads coming into this marquee matchup where you'll be for college game day coming up on Saturday. Well, both these teams always doesn't matter who's coming back on the rosters. You're talking about to the the blue bloods of the sport, and I love when these teams played by the way in the first week it's just it's the way it should be. You know, and I love the game day is going to be on a college campus, which typically with these neutral site games, we're, you know, an NFL city stadium. So this is a great way to start the season for both these teams. I'm sure when you play a heavyweight opponent like this, you get through spring ball's a little bit more energy. You get into camp and those dog days, which usually get a little worn down guys are pushing through that because they know that western Michigan isn't coming up week one. Notre Dame's coming up, Michigan's coming up, and I think You you will. were going to see both these teams give a really good effort tonight. It's in south bend you would. You would typically give Notre Dame an advantage, but this is we just talked in the last segment about shape Patterson, this, where we really get a feel for how good this Michigan offense can be. One thing that travels is your defense and Don Brown's defense over the last few years. They're going to give up probably sixteen seventeen points every game that they play max. And so if Michigan protects the ball and that Michigan defense gets after Brandon wimbush, who I'm a big fan of him on on a personal level, I think he's a great guy, but he completed forty nine percent of his passes a year ago, and I want to see how much Brandon in this offense has improved become more balanced. Last year, I, here's a starter. They had the big left guard and left tackle rely on that running game with Josh Adams, but they couldn't throw the ball and when they got into the Miami game and it going to some of the games later, it started to affect them. So this is a new year. Let's see how much they, like I said, they've improved and let's see how much Brandon wimbush can avoid those costly turnovers in games like this. So Notre Dame's at home. It gives them advantage. But for me, I think Notre Dame against that Michigan defense, I'm going to give Michigan an edge in that game. Even though it's an southbound be a big win for the big ten east which people I myself are touting as the best division in college football now supplanting the SEC west coming into this season at least on paper Herbie. I've got one Auburn in Washington sixty nine on ESPN radio and ABC, Steve Levy, greasy and Todd mcshay on a call, the TV cyborgs Inskeep David, Noreen island on ESPN radio. And this is one where it's two heavyweights I saw on the Herbie. You pointed to this one as an early college football, playoff type of not eliminating game this. This is as big as it gets and week. One checkup Jarret stidham quarterback Auburn when I asked him earlier. This week Herbie. What's the difference between the guy that you see in the mirror right now compared to that same guy you saw at this time last season, here's y'all been quarterbacks answer. I think there's a lot of a lot of different. A lot of differences between myself right now..

"It getting knocked down on the football field makes you tough. But getting back up makes you tougher at Goodyear. We call that determination a willingness to put in more hours more reps and more of heart to reach a bar that sky high because the Goodyear blimp doesn't show up for just anybody. So don't be just anybody the blimp worthy. Good here. More driven. This program is brought to you by ice cold Dr Pepper, the official drink of fans. Herbstreet in Fitzsimmons podcast. With curb street. I mean, it Simmons and Herbie episode one year two. It's a glorious time of the year. College football is back my friend. Good to see you during the off season best to the fam- that's all. Give him a kiss, say goodbye. We'll see in January. How are you doing? Are we awesome man? It's it's a finally back. There's been enough off the field stories, I think, for all of us to want this game to get started and and it's exciting time. It's great to be back with you. Second year we had a lot of fun the I fear doing this and we'll have some great guests throughout the year and some big topics, but man, like you said, this is this is almost like it's Christmas Eve, everybody's wound up excited and ready to open up their toys and watch these games would be played, you know, give me the talk truck right when you're going back to the red Ryder BB gun and electronic football game. I had to have the little vibrate you ever see those on the floor. You turn on the button and the players like it never worked. I am. I. I spent hours on that, man. I, I look back at that and I think if I would if I'd get my kids that today, you know, they're playing fortnight and mad and all these things like, hey, guys, this I had. It'd be like, seriously. And how long did you play with it? Oh hours a day. Nine hours a day for like until the next Christmas, I'd get a new one. Yeah, it was. It was a different era. The problem was because you couldn't get the guy to go to where the spot where you had to get the bottom of those green guys. You had to like, rub it against the carpet to like get them to get those little toggles kind of all pointing in a certain direction. And then that was the only way you had a chance to to kind of have any idea where they were going. How about the big tall quarterback slash kicker that they, they had, you know, you could like pull the little arm back and throw the ball as if is if because I came up with my own rules, I would be if you can throw a ball like a spitball, like if you can throw the little football in hit the guy on the back that counts with your own hand with behind the line of scrimmage, if you hit the receiver in the back, then we'll give that as a completion and then you can turn a game back on and see if he doesn't run backwards and. But I cannot believe that that's what we would do. You know? And so I'm sorry to going to tangent about Christmas, then that's what this week's about our our entire generation listening right now, her that they're all going, including myself. My hand is up right now. I didn't know that you could actually like put that on the carpet and get the toggles to go. And that's that was the key there. Yes won. The second part is not stunned knowing you for all of these years that you came up with your own rules because I've been in the herbstreet basement where you and Joseph Scott Galloway and Schmidt, and everybody else right would be down there and the competition when it came to modern day video games, there's different rules that you all had. Spontaneously, making the normal human being combust when it came to the stuff you guys made up. So surprised not rocket up on the fly to just to keep everybody on their toes. Sometimes you got to change the rules in the middle of a game just to make sure everybody. But the video game era was was been fun. But now it's just a whole different level of the seen this fortnight that the kids playing for the last like four or five months that came is in my house. I've got a two eighteens a sixteen and a twelve, and let me just say, we've not..
