"first-round" Discussed on The Crossover NBA Show with Chris Mannix

"This year around the league, you knew it meant that we're going to have some good teams, some great teams, but not that great, which is kind of what this year turned into, like, a bunch of teams between like 55, 56 wins, and then a couple with 50. And that was it. And then there was everybody else. But the teams that were mediocre were so mediocre. And I feel like the teams that we saw on the plan, I'm not going to Oklahoma City they're young. Like I'm not going to fault New Orleans because they're playing without Zion, but Atlanta, Chicago, Miami, Toronto, were so mid, all year. Despite having some talent or some star power, they were just so mediocre. It's like, I can't really take seriously the idea of any of those teams winning a series to be real with you. Just because even the wolves, I'll give them a reprieve on this because they were without towns. They were trying to get these guys to gel, maybe they were trying to get these guys to like each other based on what we saw the Rudy Gobert thing. But I have some grace on that, but the other teams that were should have been better, each of those teams, they were just so average and it felt like from one game to the next they were constantly toying with 500. So I don't expect much of them if they do even make it to play the bucks or what have you, whether it's Miami or Chicago. I will say, I hope we get nuggets wolves in the first round because I want to see the nuggets versus Gobert in the Jamal Joker pick and roll again. And it's a little bit of a revenge series, Tim Connolly, now the president. Of the wolves trading for Rudy Gobert after leaving the nuggets. So I do hope we get a walk our cussler sits courtside for the series. I hope he does. I hope he does. That would be so torment the hell out of them. And you know, it's funny because I think he would never do that. He's one of the nicest, most just affable people I've ever interviewed. I know. But that would be very funny. I don't think walker Kessler has a means for the boat. It is funny, but that would be hilarious if he would show up. Courtside, Chris, that will do it for this jam packed playoff preview episode, this just got me so excited all over again. I'm even willing to forgive you. For coming to Florida and ignoring me and my family and my dog. Next time, next time, next time hopefully there will be more opportunity to get out. Stay tucked in this. At least you were at least you're above water man. Truly, it's been scary down here. Seriously. Shout out to the owner of fatboy sushi who saved my old editor Matt dollinger's parents. Just gave them a ride, like he had a pickup truck they were stranded at the airport. What? Yeah, it's a crazy story. It's a crazy story. Wow. That will do it for today's episode though, Chris, I'm excited to talk to you on the other end of this weekend when the NBA playoffs will officially be underway until then

"Yeah, you know, the only thing I want to add to that is, like, you know, people talk about the 13 seconds against the Chiefs, and the Bills should know better, but I'm like, look at maybe your last couple games where Russell Wilson just, you know, threw a prayer down the field and got a DPI to set up a game-winning field where his time expired, like, why don't you just try that, you know, just throw it down there, and I really want to go into Sean McDermott's mind, I know he got asked questions about it, but I'm like, was that pick six Hail Mary on his mind from Black Friday, where like, yeah, you know what, I'd rather go for it than we lose a game, I'm like, you know, it's the Jets, have more faith in your team with that, I don't think that was a process, but I'm like, what's going on in his mind where you have Josh Allen, who might have the strongest arm in the NFL, just throw it up, it's okay, I think have some little faith in your players, but he's seen a lot of, you know, blown, you know, blown assignments and miscommunication, maybe he got scared, and I know people are talking about firing this time on your map, but, you know, I don't know, it might be time for, like you mentioned with Sean McDermott, he maxed his ceiling, he touched it, ready to go on, you did what you could, it hasn't worked out, so that might be one of these jobs where like, you did not maybe expect to be open, and it could be, and it could, you know, kind of throw a little wrench there for all the coaching candidates. Yeah, no, it's well said, and I think, well, before we move on to the Eagles and Niners, which are gonna preview that game, because you could make an argument, it's best game of the year, little news, as we're doing this, as we're recording this podcast on Wednesday, well, I guess for you it's morning, for me it's early afternoon, Aaron Rodgers, the 21 day window has opened for Aaron Rodgers as the Jets are giving him an opportunity to return to practice, and I don't know how you feel, I'll try to be succinct with this, what? Like what, you're four and seven, and your offensive line looks like me, Gilberto, and three guys off the street, and you're thinking it's a good idea to put this guy back out there right now. Like, my personal opinion of this, I think this is an, hey, look at me, I might be able to practice, look at me, make sure I'm in the newspaper, make sure I'm in the headlines, I think Aaron Rodgers, I don't think it's unfair to say, despite what he says, he likes the headlines and he likes a little bit of attention, and I think this is what this is about, if the Jets actually put him in a game, everybody should be fired, everybody. I don't care if he's healthy, even if he has a miraculous recovery and all that, which I don't think frankly is possible, but if he does, you're going to put him in there when they're five and ten? I mean, what is the point of this? So I don't get it, I think the Jets are just trying to placate him at this point, but I also think it's insane that there's any idea that he might come back this season. Yeah, you know, I had a couple mixed feelings about this, like a couple weeks ago I'm like, you know what, it's been such a miserable season for the Jets, Aaron Rodgers, play a game for next year, it's been such a terrible year, maybe you need something good like that. And then the more they watch this team, and I see Tim Boyle struggle, Zach Wilson, Daniel Hackett, Randall Cobb can't play, Adam Lazar is not even doing anything, he's getting in trouble with the team already, it's like, these are all the choices from Aaron Rodgers, so if Aaron Rodgers plays, and he does well, and you win a couple of meaningless games, it's kind of like, it's an insurance for the franchise, Joe Douglas and Robert Salah, see, we got the right guy, it just didn't work out, and everything he's saying is telling us, it's true, it's okay, let's keep listening to the guy, and it's like, stop giving Aaron Rodgers everything that he wants, I get it, he came to your franchise to try to help you, but you tried it his way, and it didn't work out unfortunately because he's not available, but you gotta have some backup options, you gotta have a roster that could implement, just in case a 40-year-old quarterback gets hurt again next year, we should have a different backup who's more competent, stop getting your boys Aaron Rodgers, or get a wide receiver, or an OC who can work on the fly and just kind of call it a nice game to help out your backup, nothing has worked out with Aaron Rodgers' choices, I'm like, if he plays and he does well, it's more like, see, we did everything right, it just didn't work out, so let's keep doing everything we're doing right now with the healthy Rodgers, and it's like, no, you don't need that, have a couple, plan B, plan C, and try to figure out, because you gotta expect the worst when it comes to this franchise. Yeah, I just, I'm sorry, can you imagine what this is gonna be like if he comes back and blows his Achilles out again? Then what? Then when's he coming back? Like, if the Jets trot Aaron Rodgers out on the field, I don't care what he says, I don't care if he sits behind the scenes saying, look, I wanna be out there, and if I'm not out there, it's gonna be a problem, fine, then it's a problem, I'm not playing you, this is crazy, this is insane, it's like if Joe Burrow, like let's, and I honestly, I know he just had surgery, I'm not sure exactly what the timeline is, but let's say his timeline was four months to recover, and Joe Burrow was like, listen, I know we're hopelessly out of the playoff race, and it's week 17, and my wrist is basically, has like spaghetti tendons at the moment, but you know what I love to do? I like to go out and play against Kansas City on New Year's Eve because it's a rivalry, and I'm feeling like I oughta be out there. Like, there's no world where Zach Taylor's like, yeah, listen, Joe, that sounds like a good idea, let's do that. Like, at some point, you just have to shut him down. I can understand this to some extent, man, if they were in the playoff race or something, okay, you're still taking a huge chance, but I get it, you're four and seven and can't block anybody, you know? I mean, hell, you mentioned Allen Lazard, they signed him to a four-year deal, and Sala, in the presser the other day, is talking about how, yeah, you know, we've got Allen for another year and a half, he's already thinking about cutting him after two years. It's just, look, that team has been a wreck my entire life, well before I was born, okay? The idea that it's there's any merit in playing Aaron Rodgers right now is just nuts. Let's go to a team that wears green that actually has a clue. The Eagles, who are 10 and 1. They're hosting the 49ers. They have won games against Dallas, Kansas City and the Bills the last three weeks. All of which are very entertaining games. Now they take on the Niners. We'll get to the line in a little bit here because we're going to talk about it one more time here at the end. The Niners are favored in this game and yet it's in Philadelphia. If the Eagles win this game, they're essentially the one seed. I don't know that there's any way that they're not. They'd be three up with a breaker on the Niners. They're two up on the Lions right now already. And the Eagles, they're scheduled after this stretch is not that hard. They play Dallas again but after they get the Giants twice and they have Arizona. They're going to win these games. What are you looking for in this game more than anything else? You know just kind of the intensity level increasing and you know I keep trying to find a game where the Eagles are going to be like okay you know all right that game against the Bills feels like a trap game. You had so much emotion in that Arrowhead game against the Chiefs. You came back. You won. It was a Monday short week. You're kind of due for a track against the Bills. It almost came to fruition but they went to overtime and that's what they do man. They find the way to win and like you were mentioning people are saying well they haven't played their best and I'm like I bet the opponents of the Eagles are thinking yeah that means there's room for improvement. They're 10 and 1. They could get better. That's a scary sight for the rest of the NFL. So you know I keep trying to find a way okay there's got to be a letdown game for this team. Like you know hurts could be sometimes up and down. The secondary is terrible but not this week. They're like that there's such a rivalry there from from last year's you know what could have been should have been and I love this Hunter Redick's quote man I don't be caught it was like a lot of boohoo over there in San Francisco saying what if what could have been well come over to Philly and get it done. So that tells them they're gonna be hyped up for that game and and just say all right you know we want you to stop crying stop complaining we're gonna you know you know come to our house we're gonna show you a physical game and you know I'm just worried about the 49ers being so surprised man that they're actually we're gonna do our picks later but they're the favorites they're like minus two and a half or minus three in Philly but to me it's like this game I think the Eagles have circled it for the entire year whenever the counter came out so I think the intensity level is going to be high for this one and I can't wait for it. The Niners have spent the entire last nine months whining about the fact that they're a better team they should have won this game and look maybe I get it if you're a Niners player you're probably incredibly disappointed you get all the way to that game and then you have no shot I get it like I understand the feelings but when you spend nine months just constantly complaining about the situation like yeah that other team is going to be hyped up to the hilt for this game and by the way so are those fans so that is going to be an interesting spot. I'll give my pick later I'm looking forward to seeing how Purdy plays against the secondary because the Eagles one thing about him this year you can throw the ball all over I mean that they have not stopped teams from throwing the football I'm curious in this game can Purdy who as we just laid out he didn't play really what you play one series in the AFC title game I should have got knocked out the elbow injury like I'm curious what he does against the secondary this is the secondary you can throw the ball on so if the Niners are going to win this game that's how they're doing it they're going to be able they're going to be able to get the ball at you get the kiddo and the debo and on and on and on the flip side can the Niners get a pass rush against that Eagles offensive line Lane Johnson said he's going to be back it's a great front you know now we saw the Chiefs get five sacks and a half it gets felt off you but they play a little differently they bring a lot of different blitz packages can the Niners with that front four with Chase Young now can they get home that's those on both sides of the ball those are the two matchups I'm looking at um I think especially the latter one to me is fascinating who wins that matchup I think it's probably the point of the game yeah I think for me for in terms of matchup wise like what are the four Niners fall behind and the Eagles are just kind of controlling the the game script the tempo the pace whatever it is just being physical having long drives with the tush push fourth and one and Brock Purdy on the sideline cold uh you know Deebo can't get going seems he can't going so and we we know the stats about Kyle Shannon well I don't remember the stat but it's something terrible where like you fall behind the fourth quarter although like 36 or something yeah so I kind of want to see that play out and I think the 49ers need that for the like the last kind of check mark okay are you going to be are you are you finally going to win the Super Bowl we're going to Philly had kind of a physical gritty game maybe it's raining like just kind of have the worst conditions ever and come back and that game and then you go into the playoffs feeling good like right now the 49ers are playing the best football in the NFL this last three game stretch here to forget about the three game winning streak you know you know they should be ranked number one but it's just that that like people like to say the DNA of winning finding a way to do it the Eagles have that they're so talented and that's the scariest side like I mentioned they have room for improvement and they're 10 and 1 so they could get better and I feel like they might get better in this game because of all the crying the last nine months but I kind of want to see the Eagles having their pace and say you're here you're in our home try to win this way because the 49ers that's kind of their thing like they're a little they're physical on defense the second there's a little thin but that offense to me just feels like it's like a like a boxing match you know power against skill and you know what's going to win yeah I am fascinated I mean it also I'm curious in this game like how big of a loss is a funga in this game you know that's not going to show up when you're playing bad teams does it show up on Sunday all right real quick before we get into our bigger story and then the five lines as well of course so right now we talk playoff picture at the beginning of the show which team can be the conference who's on the outside of the playoff picture right now do you think will find their way into the playoffs so okay so a team though it's outside right now that will make it in you know keep looking at the Broncos like I kind of have like the soft spot for the Texans and that's why this game is so big we're gonna we're gonna do our picks here Broncos and the Texans but I keep having an eye on the Broncos man that defense you know I think they had with 14 takeaways in this game this fight game win this referee what it is but there was like a three game stretch where they had 12 oh my that's insane there so playing well defensively and then you know I'm gonna give credit to Sean Payne like you know Sean Payton it was his fault for you know yapping before the season and kind of putting a bullseye on his back and pretty much going to you know what it's a quick fix not gonna hack it and those guys they couldn't do anything watch me do it and they get you know rocked seven to twenty they're one to five but champagne is a good coach and I think if you just kind of didn't talk so much it's like okay all right let's have a process here it's our first year we're gonna get it done we're gonna figure out this roster from the previous regime these players do we like them that we don't and they've kind of gotten past that point okay let's see what we do our way and credit to Sean Payton you know being patient with Vance Joseph and such in this era where people are so impatient and just fire everybody he could easily fire Vance Joseph after September it was it was that bad and they're one of the best defensive units in the NFL and Sean Payne is doing an built-in offense it's kind of like all right Russell you're not the same dude but just play safe protect the ball just give it to your running backs throw it to courtland study whenever we need a ball to be thrown for third or one or or red zone target and it's getting it's working so you know I want to see this defense against CJ Stroud and I think that I'll be the way my pick will kind of turn out I don't want to take the easy route so I'll go with the Broncos but those two teams are in my radar well it works out it's funny I'm actually gonna go with Houston so I think Houston I think Houston's gonna get to 11 wins I think Houston's gonna their schedule's a joke I mean they beat Denver their schedule's really easy down the stretch now I will say Houston's a young team and Houston is the reason Carolina is not winless okay and they lost to Atlanta like they can lose some games they shouldn't but I am taking my feeling on this give me the best quarterback it's not in the playoffs right now and for me Stroud is that kind you could argue Stafford that's fine and maybe we're both dumb for not taking an NFC team because the NFC is such a wreck but I I'll go Stroud I'll go Stroud and the Texans I think they'll they'll find their way in so that that Houston game with Denver as you say huge game major importance real quick actually before we get to the five best games bigger story look we got to bring it up even though the Panthers are 110 right now Frank Reich fired after 11 games I mean that's unheard of Nathaniel Hackett got more games than that Urban Meyer got more games than that Frank Reich universally respected in the NFL one of the good guys by every account and yet he's gone after 11 games one and ten David Tepper moving on couldn't even pronounce his name right in the press conference kept saying I kept saying it wrong what is the bigger story moving forward for the Panthers is it the struggles of Bryce Young was nine touchdowns eight picks this year including a bunch of pick sixes or is it David Tepper's inability to stay out of the football side of operations yeah that's a good question I'm gonna go with Bryce Young let's just help David Tepper figures out oh crap I told people to pick Bryce Young or I didn't say I kind of just initiated or just kind of hinted hey keep keep going with that guy over there instead of CJ Stroud so maybe he feels like all right I effed up here but we got to go work on on the pick that I made so you know I'm gonna go with Bryce Young he like I'm gonna be honest he looks terrible it looks bad doesn't look like he belongs out there and you know the size you know every time I watch him play I'm like he's small out there and you gotta you gotta build a better roster to help him out you can't be a creator away from the pocket that's that was one of the skills of Alabama if you don't have a good offensive line if you don't have any weapons either and you know I'm so mad at myself for thinking this team's gonna be decent in the off season I'm like Miles Sanders not bad dealing mingo okay and I'm like what was I thinking I'm giving this offense a chance and the other part too man it's like you know Tepper building this all-star coaching staff okay they could probably do something here with Frank Wright and I should have known the second that they missed out on Ben Johnson and Frank Wright was prize number two and Tepper was meddling with the coaching staff that's probably not a good recipe to building a good coach over there so but they're stuck with Bryce Young you don't have a first round pick because you gave it away to the Bears you don't have a number one wide receiver because you gave them to the Bears with DJ Moore so and you thought this offensive line bringing them back was the answer it wasn't so you got to rebuild the offensive line get weapons get a good running back and help out your quarterback so I think until then until they do that and get the right personnel I don't want to write off Bryce Young again this in this era people are very impatient it's not looking good I'm not going to deny that but you got to go and somehow give Bryce Young a fighting chance he was your number one pick that you gave up a whole boat load of picks and DJ Moore for so make it work so yeah look you could go either way here I'll always take the temper angle just because you want Bryce Young look I have been a fan of teams that have bad ownership and you're just screwed like there is no way around it okay I am a Knicks fan I have gone through my entire life of James Dolan just getting in the way and finally it appears that he's so tired of being in the way that he's finally just sat down and oh look at that the Knicks are probably going to win 50 games this year okay like it's it is the worst thing that can happen in your franchise okay I for years and years and years my entire life I was an Oakland A's fan in baseball like they've literally gotten me to the point I don't even watch baseball anymore like I hate the owners so much excuse me John Fisher I cannot stand them with such a passion that I will not room for them and I've gotten to know some people in the Brewers organization I'm like yeah that's fine them never thought it was possible I was never somebody who could ever change teams the ownership actually forced me to do it I worry that Tepper is one of these owners who just can't get out of his own way he just cannot like look man I don't care where you made your billions I don't care you didn't make them in the NFL you don't know you don't know and that's a problem like in the NFL guys come in from all walks of life from all types of businesses where they've made their fortunes and of course wherever they were they were extremely successful the problem with that becomes a lot of these guys didn't think well then I'll be successful doing this I know what I'm doing the NFL is a different beast and excuse me and with that some guys learn okay I gotta be more hands-off here and I gotta hire people to do the job and get out of their way and some people never learn that I mean Jerry Jones has been Jerry Jones's entire tenure as the owner of the Cowboys the only thing that saved him early was Jimmy Johnson the second Jimmy Johnson got run off how's that been going I mean you know look you look at Daniel Snyder in Washington the train wreck forever the best owners in the NFL are the ones who hire football people and get out of the has not been able to do that we'll see maybe he'll learn maybe he'll grow he's a young owner but my concern is that Tepper's just going to be one of these guys who's constantly involved the good news is for the pants is I think he's willing to spend the money I think he wants to win but none of that matters if he's the one constantly making the football's decisions and that is where right now from Carolina I'm concerned yeah if you don't get a wake-up call and look yourself in the mirror after this the way it turned out with the number one pick and this whole hiring process with Frank Wright and then also meddling and saying hey pick these guys it's also our team then he's probably gonna learn for a long time and you're probably right there like that's kind of a scary sight to know that this guy could be around for 10 20 years and still be meddling and and just kind of say you know what do that and do that and that could be a whole issue and you know and real quick credit to Albert Breer and Connor Orr for I checked on Monday show and you know one thing that I forgot about like the Panthers can't figure out if they want to start winning now or rebuilding like they trade CMC they keep Brian Burns like they trade DJ Moore you know and think and they go spend money in the opposite thing for Bryson like figure out a route for his path and stay committed and see what happens oh great points by those guys very true um all right let's get in to the week 13 lines as always got a five pack of them uh we're gonna start with Thursday night's game Seattle coming off of a couple of losses now at Dallas, Dallas Satan 3 trying to stay near Philadelphia trying to make that rematch at home matter with the Eagles um the Cowboys are laying nine and a half a huge line and they have been great at home this year they've destroyed teams um they've also played the commanders and the Giants and the Jets and the Pats at home so the Seahawks a little bit of a step up in class but the Seahawks struggling nonetheless you liked uh Dallas here and if you do do you like him by the full nine and a half yeah I'm glad you asked that last part because for some reason I keep believing the Seahawks are gonna make games close like I gave them the the seven points against the 49ers I gave them the seven points against the Ravens getting beat down and I think I'm gonna give them the eight and a half points and Dallas wins a lot at home and I don't know why I keep believing in Seattle but obviously the pick is a cowboy I'm not gonna go away from that it's gonna be the Cowboys but eight and a half is a lot of points and they're just too talented and I just don't learn my lesson went to the Seahawks team and Matt maybe maybe we jinxed ourselves when you're brought up the other day hey we actually picked the Seahawks to be in Super Bowl one of our I guess our previews way back in April and they've been terrible ever since so you know I'll just say this real quick I know we didn't get a chance to talk about the NMC when it came to you know teams making the playoffs but if the Seahawks go 0-4 which they're they're 1-0 or 0-1 already because the 49ers they lose to the Cowboys lose to the 49ers lose to the Eagles again I don't want to see you in the playoffs you you don't belong in the playoffs you can't compete with these top dogs at least maybe the Rams or the Packers get a sniff here because at least the Packers are just gonna beat the Lions and you know the the Rams beat the Seahawks twice I don't want to see you in the playoffs so unless you if you go on four here in this stretch here you don't belong in it so show me some fight and I'm gonna take the eight and a half points in the Seahawks for my last kind of like all right don't fool me anymore one more try here but I'm taking the Cowboys okay I'm taking the Cowboys and I'm swallowing the points because I have been like you I have picked Seattle to cover I feel like every game and I'm just tired of it I'm tired of watching Seattle I'm like hey man I I wrote like we do our our best picks of the week every every week with Craig Ellenport and I I remember writing very strongly when I'm like why are the Seahawks big dogs against Baltimore this is stupid and I beat by like 40 points and I was like all right you know listen I guess we're all bound to have those days but that hurts and then I picked them to cover against San Francisco and that game was it was a killing so I'm not going to go that route I like Dallas in this game I think Dallas is playing great football Dak is playing excellent football some of the best of his career the last couple months I always worry about Dallas when they play really good teams but I think Seattle at this point is a decent team so I think they will handle business I think they will win at home it's a short week but it's not really because both of them played last Thursday so you know it really is a full week of practice for both sides of course Dallas getting the comfy confines I I like the Cowboys in this game something like 30 to 20 I think it's right around the number but if I have to go one way or the other on the number I will take Dallas who who has been blowing teams out so give them credit all right on the ASG side as we mentioned earlier a couple times really important game in Houston haven't been able to say that in a long time but this year the Texans are much better they are six and five Denver is six and five on a five-game winning streak Denver is weird in the sense that you watch these games and you're never like yeah Denver looks great but they just keep finding a way to win and give them credit some of those wins are coming it's really good football teams shout out to the Bills who can't count and the the Texans laying three and a half at home in what is not only a big games is for the for record but for tiebreaker as well here a huge game do you like Denver or Houston uh in energy stadium it's a tough one and I know earlier in the show I I picked the Broncos or against the team to probably make it in the playoffs and it won't make sense because I'm going with the Texans here and I just realized that because I also did it on our mmqb pickums and I hate to change and like when people ask me to make picks I just keep them all the same I hate to lose track and whether they choose either so it doesn't make sense I picked the Broncos earlier but I'm gonna go with the Texans to win this game here and you know they're home I go with the Bronx I think the Broncos could cover that three and a half there you know it should be a close game could be one of these one-point games or one of these close games like as time expires the field will kind of thing so you know I do like the Broncos defense you know but it's CJ straight out kind of gets on a hot stretch there with tank there or Nico Collins and scores a couple touchdowns do we trust Russell Wilson and kind of you know get a couple scores going from playing from behind like they've benefited from short fields from all these takeaways too so you know I gave Sean Payton his credit earlier and Russell Wilson but if Stroud gets back in a heater and it's kind of a little he was a little quiet for his standards which says a lot for rookie last week against the Jaguars like he had a couple big plays to tank there and he kind of was a little quiet in the fourth quarter but he set it up for that field goal and they missed it but you know I think CJ Stroud being at home and just being able to put up points that's why I leaned with the Texans but I expect a close game yes I'm gonna take the Texans all again I'll swallow the three and a half points look I think Denver deserves all the credit in the world for one five straight here they could have folded the tent they could have sold off half the team they didn't do that and they've won five straight kudos to them the problem I have is a lot of these games have been like hey we've gotten eight turnovers from the other team I mean the Bills and the Chiefs basically were like here's the game beat us and both those games came down to it I mean even though the Chiefs lost 24 to 9 I think it was 14 9 with five minutes left and the Chiefs fumbled a punt return so they're on five yard line that was the game and we all saw the Bills game which is one of the most ridiculous football games of the year I feel like Denver deserves credit and yet at the same point it also deserves a little bit of like closer analysis Minnesota did the same thing Minnesota turned the ball over a million times and and yet barely lost and then last week it's like Dorian Thompson Robinson quarterback I don't know I I feel like if Houston doesn't turn the ball over three or four times away in this game so I will take Houston Denver by the way is a huge stretch for them five in a row but now three game road swing Texans Chargers Lions you got to win two of them you got to win two of them you're gonna make the playoffs you got to win two of these games they could beat the Chargers hell everybody can beat the Chargers but like can you win one of those two others and can you handle business against LA that's a question for me I like the Texans in this game I do think it's somewhere in that range give me Houston the new CNN prime time is where the truth shines taking you to the heart of the story and breaking through the noise it's not about what I believe it's about whether there is evidence the day's biggest stories the night's most essential reporting I want you to see what me and my team saw there on the ground with a new lineup Erin Burnett Anderson Cooper, Kaitlyn Collins, Abby Phillip and Laura Coates the new CNN prime time weeknights starting at seven on CNN.

"Why don't we go with one that's kind of like medium medium level. So why don't we go with like grizzlies Lakers? Yes, okay. 'cause I don't think it's the most interesting series, but it's up there. It's interesting enough. I agree. I mean, it'll be a fun series. I feel like the grizzlies, they kind of had a, you know, they're obviously very popular last year too, but they kind of had that flash weight moment this year with the Lakers. The Shannon shark game, et cetera man, I've been was impressed with how the grizzlies closed this season. But to get Anthony Davis and round one and have no brain and Clark know Stephen Adams. I'm pretty nervous about them. Especially Brandon Clark was huge for them in the playoffs last year. He really, you know, he had a solid regular season. It was weird. It felt like early in the playoffs last year. He didn't really have a solid spot in the rotation, and he played his way into more minutes during the playoffs. You don't see that at a ton. He was so good. I'm really worried about their front court in this series. And if there's one team that is not going to kind of blow the Lakers away from the three point line, I think it's Memphis, which also doesn't shoot super well is not a very, you know, half court execution, you know, find the open guy to death offense necessarily. Yeah, I guess my initial thoughts in the series are I'm nervous from Memphis. What about you? I'm not nervous, but I will say that, I mean, it's not the easiest matchup necessarily. Who knows? Maybe the grizzlies breeze through. I mean, I will also say this, and obviously our often are member of the team who comes on board. Thinks that the Lakers will come out of the west. Okay. They have not looked very good lately. They kind of got a little bit of a blessing to even win the first playing game that they couldn't spot with. They've struggled against the jazz who were not even playing in some cases like a full compliment of their players. A couple of times now to end this season. Can you roll that over and say, that's the Laker team you're going to get in this first round. Not necessarily. I mean, I think part of why lean grizzlies here, I think pretty strongly, is that they still have a roster of guys that has been used to playing short handed for a while. To some extent, even in the playoffs when they've had to. I do think that the point that you raised it has me a little bit leery of wanting to really go all in on them, a team that before all the craziness with their season, I thought would have been the favorite to come out of the west. The three point shooting is something that I think is worth watching. I think it's a good opportunity for someone like aldama. Tyus Jones to really get up some shots. And to try to make sure that that deficit doesn't get out of hand, I wonder a little bit about Anthony Davis and just does he get completely loose. That is jaren Jackson. Resisting there. What did match ups look like and stuff like that? I also see the potential for John morant to just go nuts.

"Hi, I'm Dr. John White WebMD's chief medical officer and host of the Health Discovered podcast, where we bring you fascinating stories and unique perspectives like our recent episode where we break down the myths to uncover the facts of type one diabetes. A lot of people, very well meaning people who cared about me just thought that it was caused by diet or can be cured by diet and exercise, especially right after I was diagnosed. People saying what what was it that you ate or are you going to have to change your diet to get rid of this? There's still a lot of, you know, people see me pick up some kind of dessert and they're like, oh, should you really be eating that or thinking, you know, if they give sugar free things to people that that's helpful. Listen to Health Discovered on the iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcasts. Hello everyone and welcome into the latest episode of the Monday Morning What About podcast. I am Matt Bergham, joined as always by Gilberto Manzano. We weren't here last week because of the holiday. Everybody was scattering, running around and then trying to sleep off the turkey. But we're back. The good news is you didn't miss a whole heck of a lot if you didn't watch a ton of football on Thanksgiving because all three games were blowouts. And the Black Friday game, the only thing you missed was one of the more hilarious pick sixes in NFL history. Only the Jets could throw a Hail Mary and then watch it get returned for a touchdown. I've never seen that happen. I don't know that I ever will see it happen again. But Tim Boyle and the Jets were happy to give us a little laugh before the holiday season went into full swing. But there were plenty of interesting games on Sunday, which we of course are going to get to. We're not going to talk about the Monday night game, which really put football back about 50 years. Our editor is a Vikings fan and I'm frankly, I'm pretty surprised he's not in a mental hospital after that game. Nobody would blame him if he was. But with that being said, Gil Burdle, let's get you in here, man. How are you doing? How was your Thanksgiving? Yeah, you know, I'm doing well and shout out to you, Matt, for holding it down on Thanksgiving and the Black Friday game. And at one point I told myself I should just, you know, chill all day. Why am I turning on TV on Friday? Who wants to watch the Dolphins beat down the Jets? Then I saw the Hail Mary on the pick six there. And you know what? That was worth it to see the Jets struggle. And Matt, you know, it's been a minute for us doing this podcast and it kind of tells you that the season is very long, the regular season. When you see the Colts in the playoffs, when you see the Broncos making a move, when you see the Rams and the Packers, you know, a game or a half a game behind the Seahawks. So, you know, I know we haven't been here in two weeks and, you know, sometimes these games are snindlers, but this playoff picture is very interesting right now. It is. And, you know, personally, this is my favorite time of the year, well, the regular season. I mean, the playoffs are the playoffs, but in terms of the regular season, because, you know, this time, yes, teams like the Panthers, by the way, we're going to get to the Panthers here, obviously some news coming out of Carolina this week, but like the Panthers, the Cardinals, the Fighting Tommy DeVitos, the Patriots, okay, like, they're still playing games, but I don't have to necessarily, I don't want to say I don't care about those teams, I mean, we cover the whole league, but I'm not paying as much attention to those teams because their season essentially at this point is over and it's about draft positioning and you're kind of paying attention to them in terms of maybe young talent and which guys are sending and stuff like that, but this time you can really hone in on four or five games a week, where those are the games that are really important, and of course there's a massive one this week in the NFC with the Eagles and Niners, which we'll get to here in a few minutes, but I like that part of it. I like, I'm a huge nerd when it comes to the playoff picture and the playoff machine over ESPN and New York Times has its like percentages of what, you know, what teams odds are, and then you have, I'll look at the schedules and analyze the schedules, I love doing that. This time of year for me is a lot of fun, like one of the games, it's going to be one of the five lines we talk about, but Houston and Denver, it's a huge game, like whoever loses that game, that's a really big loss, but on the flip side of that, if you win that game is a big tiebreaker, and now all of a sudden you go, man, after that, I got like five games left, that's it, you know, it's funny how in reality, you know, most teams still have what, six to play, and you look at it and go, well that's more than a third of the season, but it doesn't feel like that, it feels like you're really coming up to the end of the season, so it's exciting, man, and you're going to have really good races in both conferences, you know, for the wildcards, I feel like the divisions largely, you feel like you know who's going to win those, but the wildcard spots are up for grabs, both in the AFC and the NFC. Yeah, well besides the NFC South, but who cares, right, just get a team, I don't even care if it's the Panthers, put them in there and just get blown out in the first round by the Cowboys or whoever, and we're fine, but yeah, the divisions are pretty, you know, maybe, I'm trying to think of one, maybe the AFC South, I know the Jaguars put it away kind of last week, and. Pittsburgh somehow is like, but you'd be surprised, you'd be surprised if they found a way to win that division, so, you're right, the NFC South, I don't even consider that a division, like those are just four teams that somehow ended up together, that division is awful, I feel like that division is just like, hey, who's going to lose to Dallas in the first round, and then that, you know, which by the way, is what it was last year, it's the same thing, Tampa and Carolina, and to some degree the Saints, fought to the death last year, just for the right, for Dallas to miss like nine extra points in the wildcard round and still went by 30, and I think that's where we're headed again this year, maybe without the missing of the extra points.

"I can. I'm gonna get canceled for it. Well, or not. I've told the story before granted, maybe I've said it to Michael on the pod before I maybe not. I can't remember. I was, it was my first year of politics. This was 2005. I was like a week and a half in college. At Michigan and I drove back home to either drove or got a ride back home from someone to audition for American Idol. I think it was like season two of American Idol and auditioned at soldier field where the bears play, which at least my place in Chicago is across the street from me. Oh my God. And there were 15,000 other people that showed up to audition. I auditioned with, I believe I can fly. And got through the first round of auditions. And past that first round. Then I tried to get cute and was like, all right, well, you know, let me sing all the greatest hits since I'm making it through the rounds. So then I'd sang John Legend so high in the second round and it was not as great and did not make it through. I think you have to make it through the first two rounds to audition in front of like Randy Simon and Paula. But it was a fun experience. It was also like a really good indication of no matter how talented you think you are at something or most things that there's always going to be someone that's better than you or that has one. So season two is the clay Aiken Ruben stoddard season. You could have taken them, dude. I do not believe that. I mean, and also, and I know, forgive me, what is the guy's name that is Daryl? Daryl doesn't shout out to Daryl. Related enough. And he seems like a good sport that we make the joke all the time.

"Career. He always says the ball in his hands. What's the big deal? Apologies. Apologies to Joe and Brunson and Julius Randle. There are many more apologies in the column, apologies, apologies to the grizzlies, apologies to everyone, apologies to Devin Booker. You'll see it in the column all defensive team. First team guard Alex grew so guard Derek white forward Evan mobley forward jaren Jackson, center brook Lopez, easy speedy, my defensive player of the year ballot was Jackson mobley Lopez in that order, Caruso and white were the best defensive guards done. Second team, this was tough. Guard drew holiday, guard, herb Jones. Over a whole pile of guys that we'll get to. Giannis had forward OG and OB at forward center draymond green. And yes, that means no Jaden McDaniels, no bam out of bio, Noel McHale bridges, no Jimmy Butler, no Dylan Brooks, Noel Kauai, PG, Jared Vanderbilt, and a lot of other guys. I just thought these guys were the most deserving and that front court of Yanis and an OB draymond and then the pile of guys with them like bam and McDaniels, but that was absolutely brutal. And you could argue second guard spot with drew holiday could be any number of guys Luke and Stuart got mentioned in my column, Marcus smart's always there. Jimmy Butler is listed as both guard and forward, Dylan Brooks, listed above garden for it. That's fine if you want one of those guys that's fine. I just like I just feel like herb Jones was the best combination of consistent effort on ball impact off ball impact, rebounding impact. We can agree to disagree on that. No, it sounds great. Dylan Brooks was the one name that I don't like him necessarily. I don't like watching him play. I'm not sure I'd like to be his teammate, but he's a hell of a defensive player. If he had made one that list, I wouldn't surprise me at all. Yeah. I know, again, read the column if you want to see the full list of apologies and mea culpas and all this. And I know a category near and dear to your hard coach 'cause it's the deep cut category all rookie. First team the cuts aren't so deep, banquero, Kessler, wing Jalen Williams, which is the top three in my rookie of the year, although not in that order. Math and Keegan Murray, Keegan and Murray's gotta be first team. I will not hear any disagreements on that. If you want a flip Mather in to second team because you consider him kind of an empty calorie score, didn't help a lot on defense, complete tunnel vision on offense, hit The Rookie wall and collapse for 20 games. That's fine. I get it. He finished actually kind of strong last 5, 6 games, and he averaged 20 points a game for like a long time. As a rookie, that's pretty rare. But if you want to flip them out and put them on second team, here's my second team. Jade and ivy, Jalen Duran, jabari Smith junior, Andrew Knapp, tar Eason. And I've been astonished despite the fact that I love Jeremy sohan, despite the fact that shade and sharp piled up a lot of points and a lot of games that meant a whole lot of nothing. Despite all that, despite AJ Griffin having a really nice year as a rotation player for most of the year and some other rookies like oche abaji and David roddy finishing strong, astonished. That anyone would leave off Tara east in our Andrew no part. I've seen a lot of ballots without either of those guys. They have to, they have to be on second team at least and you have argued that I have the wrong pacer on first team. Yeah, I had nem hard first team. Listen, he was just a better rookie. There's a reason why he started over Mather and in the same position, Mather Norman plays, and that Mark doesn't play that position typically. He's a point guard and tare Easton made my second team. He's going to be terrific. Yeah, I mean, those are the ten, I think. And I like Jeremy very much too, but sharp doesn't deserve it. There are some metrics that happen is the worst player in the NBA this year. He's going to be terrific, maybe. Like he definitely has a ton of talent. I'm excited to see what they do, but I wouldn't have put them on that. We have advanced metrics for a reason. And I like looking at them. No, you did a great job. David Thorpe, this is always such a pleasure. I just love this time of year. I love looking at the film, digging into the matchups and trying to foresee what we are going to see and the cool thing is we'll see a lot of that and then we'll see a lot of other stuff that we didn't necessarily expect to see a lot of desperate ploys, a lot of aggressive ploys, a lot of out of the box plays. That is the fun of the playoffs. You will be chronicling it all at true hoop. You guys podcast twice a week. And you will be writing columns and breaking down all of it, subscribe to true hoop, listen to David by his book. Thank you, sir for this wonderful annual present that you give me. Thanks, Zach. Hey, enjoy the next few months, oh man.

"first-round" Discussed on The Lowe Post

"I'm actually, you know, you can either be a 100% worried or a 100% dismissive, just late season malaise for a team that's waiting for the playoffs. I'm somewhere in the middle. I'm like half worried that that stretch revealed that something is a little off in Denver. That said, I think they got a break with the Lakers winning and going into the 7 seed. Oklahoma City for as good a story as they are. I don't think they have any shot against the nuggets in a first round series. I'm not even going to, I mean, every team's got a shot, they have talent, they have shade, it's been amazing. Minnesota to me would be more interesting. Anthony Edwards has not looked good and does not look totally healthy to me right now. And if that's the case and without Jayden McDaniels who punched a wall, I think that's a pretty clear Denver win as well. So I don't know if you disagree on either. I think Minnesota is a little bit more interesting just because towns and Edwards are towns and Edwards. But we'll see what happens with Gobert. Now he's got back spasms. He half punched Kylie Anderson's shoulder, didn't seem to hurt Kyle Anderson Burma's kind of not the best punch I've ever seen. Who's on his team? I guess if you don't want to get suspended for a lot of games, you aim just like a little light nudge to the clavicle. Just hard to see him Minnesota beaten beaten the nuggets in a series. I guess they're more interesting though. Yeah, and all you said are good. As to the punch the shoulder as the older brother of two boys in it, then a little sister. My brothers would tell you that their shoulders have enough scar tissue. They'll never feel pain again because I would never have punched them in the face or my little brothers, but I did Pete their shoulders up pretty frequently. We're gonna go better than I tried to hurt anybody there. I think Denver got really lucky because I would repeat the Lakers to beat them. I Denver is a team that I'm on the other. I'm all the way out on them. I think they've lost faith in their bench. I think Mike has panicked hugely. He probably could use bones highland right now and they tried him for a reason. And I just don't trust their second unit. I don't trust that yolk at just gonna play 44 minutes a game every game. They're gonna win this series, no matter who they play because they got lucky the Lakers won that game and shouldn't have. I agree with you that Minnesota is a better, not just cat and aunt, but Gobert too. It's gonna destroy him inside. They have the size. The thunder have no size. I mean, Jalen Williams is a really nice rookie around center. He's 6 9 and they have like Dario Sarge is the only backup big that's getting minutes for their team. Right. Right. So I don't think Denver has dodged a wind round one. And then I'm not going to say anything until we see who they're playing round two, but I'm really down on them right now. And I was hiring them for much of the year. When the clippers were struggling and I don't believe in their second year anymore. Or really the first unit for that matter. They don't have a second unit. They have they have like a guy and a half. They have Bruce Brown and sometimes Christian Brown and listen, then it's just kind of like spin the wheel and if it lands on Zeke naji, come out and go out there and do something. And Zach, they're so panicked out there. I listen to a game, not too long ago. Maybe it was early March though. And the other team scored twice. And the nuggets missed two wide open shots in a row and very nice man Scott hasting those a lot about basketball said, well, this is the problem with the luggage second unit, and they go through spells. Like they miss two shots. But there's such a panic because for so long, the non jokic minutes have been like the non embiid minutes in Philly. And Mike has not had a steady hand with that. He's challenges guys a lot. It doesn't really work. I think it's professional franchise. I don't think Calvin booth, I know we didn't hire this coach. And I think this coach knows he might be fighting for his job and that adds a lot of stress too. So I think it's a mess. They can clean it up if they win for the feel goods will be there. They'll be all great. And then we'll see what happens in round two, but they should have no problem in round one. Yeah, Phoenix looming is a problem. Coach, I am gonna end by revealing my all NBA all defense and all rookie teams because they are revealed today online, but it's on inside or you can stick around or you could not stick around up to you, but I will go fast. First team all NBA. You ready? What do you want to do? You want to listen to coach? I know him, but I'm happy to hear him again. I read your honor. Okay. First team all NBA. We'll start with the big daddy. All NBA Shay gildas Alexander guard Donovan Mitchell guard, Jayson Tatum Ford, Giannis Ford and bead center. That was easy. Donovan Mitchell jumped from second to first team when the Mavericks collapsed into just a heap of complete embarrassment and you just, I just can't put Luca on first team despite the fact that he's better than Donovan Mitchell. We all know he's better than Donovan Mitchell. Donovan Mitchell was outstanding all year. And what I wrote in the column is you can't blame the Mavs collapse on Luca or Kyrie, even like a everyone gets some blame, but I think giving them even like a plurality of blame, the real blame is like just on the drip drip drip of talent out the door. But you need your best player to be at galvanize in those situations in Luca did not galvanize the Mavericks. He whined to the officials. He was bad on defense. He was frustrated for whatever reason, so he got knocked down to second team. Coach, what I did on my second team, though, because guard was so crowded, I discovered a way to fit an extra guard onto the broader three all NBA teams. And that was moving Luca to forward, which I am fine with. He's a point forward, he guards power forward, sometimes he can be a forward he's eligible forward. So my second team, guard number one, Steph Curry, he's Steph Curry. I'm going to save second guard for later. Forward, Jimmy Butler, no brainer forward Luka Dončić no brainer center, Nikola Jokić, no brainer. My second guard on my second team is drew freaking holiday. And I think that name will probably draw some attention. I think he's got a good shot to make all NBA, but there were just so many other alternatives that either didn't play as many games as drew holiday or aren't as good as drew holiday even if they played as many or more games. I just think is two way impact this is the best season ever as a shooter. You mentioned it earlier. I think he's deserving, he also made my all defense team. Third team, guard, Damian Lillard, guard, deer and fox, and fox was the guy who got in based on me moving Luca to Ford. It ended up being like, do I want the air and Fox? Or do I want Julius Randle? And I chose the Erin Fox over Julius Randle because my forwards on the third team are LeBron and Jalen Brown and my center is demon de sabonis. That's it. Coach, what are your big points of disagreement? I was surprised to see jaylen Brown getting so much love. I know the Celtics need it because they're not going to keep them otherwise. I don't think. I don't really know, but that's what I'm thinking. No, I thought you said it was great. I love the fox pick. I had Donovan on my first team, Donovan Mitchell. Luca, I think you expressed it really well. And yes, he plays forward all the time. Primary ball handlers does me you're not a forward. The bra is going to fold his whole career. He always says the ball in his hands. What's the big deal? Apologies. Apologies to Joe and Brunson and Julius Randle. There are many more apologies in the column, apologies,

"Think the Celtics are way better than the heat and the horrible. And then the hawks rather than a horrible matchup for them. My first note on Atlanta's problems were four words Colin struggles with Tatum. I watched a lot of those two breakdowns and he doesn't have a plan. Maybe it's because physically doesn't move the way it needs to. He just really didn't have a plan and Jason got whatever he wanted, whether he made the shot or not it's irrelevant. You can force the guy to make a tough shot he might make it, but it's a tough shot and you can make him a comfortable college just doesn't do that. So I agree with you. Put him on almost anybody. Well, Jalen Brown would make him struggle too. Anyone else, anyone big, because he is valuable in the offensive glass because you're looking for athletic energetic advantage that Atlanta can grab. But yeah, when you're a very key player, can't guard their team's best player. You know, it's a problem, just like we talked about with the number of guys they have the guard to guard tray. So I think Quinn's going to have this team better next year and they're going to be able to start pretty fast on next season's plans. Big off season for we didn't even mention the implications for like the clippers. If they lose in the first round, I don't know what that means for them in the off season. The hawks, if they lose in the first round, I mean, there was all these coverage of Trae Young and reportedly according to the athletic, the hawks haven't closed the door on like maybe someday making a phone call about trading trading. Like, of course, of course they have it. The idea that all of this was riding on the play in game and now all that noise is gone is ludicrous. If they get rolled in this series, all those questions reemerge. And by the same token, we're going to talk about the sixers now. Assuming the Celtics witness series, if they underperform against Philly and lose in the second round and it's like not a complete 7 game nail biter, that raises some serious question, not serious, but interesting question for the Celtics who, I think Jalen Brown is gonna make all NBA and be eligible for this supermax and that's an interesting I mean, I think they probably offer it in the end, but do they try to negotiate a little bit like 30 to 35%? We try to negotiate a number in the middle there. We'll see, but that's getting down the line. Brooklyn, Philadelphia, number 6 on my list and I'm with you that you could flip flop it to be number 5 because talk about a team with things riding on this postseason, talk about a team that could look a whole lot different next year if they flame out in the playoffs again, the Philadelphia 76ers. You want to show me your ready and I've said all year. The sixers are in the inner circle of title contenders. Yes, it's a disadvantage to them that they play in the same conference as two of the other teams that enter circle and they got to probably be both of them without home court advantage, but you got everything. You got the guy who's gonna win MVP. You got hardened, who's played most of the year and all star level and they're saying his leg injury seems to be better, whatever was bothering him. Come out serious, come out focused against a nets team that has zero hope of matching up one on one with embiid. And so is gonna result to double teams and switches and scram switches behind those switches and loading up and helping and getting arms in the passing lanes. Play clean, embiid, he actually, I think against the nets in particular started making really quick decisions with the ball in the post and I like when he plays the way even when he just pings the ball right back to his entry passer. If that guy's open, let it fly. Like give it a tap it right back to him. But come out focused because they should overwhelm the nets, even though the nets have all these rangy wings and they can switch and maybe they can bother their harden and they'll try all these trick defenses. Come out and bowl them over, have an MVP series, have an MVP emphatic like Nick claxton, I'm putting you in the basket. Daeron sharp, you got no hope of getting offensive rebounds against me. I'm Joel embiid. You wanna play you dare play 5 out against me? Like, what are you gonna do when claxton's on the bench or are you gonna play Dorian Finney Smith at the 5? 'cause Ben Simmons ain't playing. I'm putting you in the basket, like come out and beat him up because I do think the nets have some tools here and it wouldn't shock me if they like mucked up one of the first couple games in Philly and this was one one coming into Brooklyn. All that said, I'm picking sixers and 5. I'm speaking it into existence. Come out with urgency, sixers and 5. I have a feeling you are going to pick a longer series. Well, I mean, you made a pretty good argument for why that would be pretty stupid. No, it's not stupid. I think they got tools.

"Jump shots over Deandre ayton if they have drop coverage. They just need a monster Kawhi series and that's why I think they're going to, I don't think they want to over tax him by saying you've also got to be our primary Durant defender and carry our offense. I just don't know if they can do that to Kauai without Paul George to take off the load. It's just, they're going to need an epic epic series for him. There's no way to no other way to go other way to say it. And it's just, I'll be very surprised if the clippers with my pick is going to be sons and 6. Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I want to say two quick things. One is, I found an interesting, it's not too interesting. A lineup that works, that's what's interesting is how well it worked. Westbrook, Gordon, batum, Kauai and Z were plus 6.8 and 5 games. All right, that's gonna be their starting lineup, I think. I think so. I should have mentioned that earlier. They've messed around with their lineups a little bit. They've had guys in and out. Russ, Gordon Kauai batum zoo is I would bet good money is going to be their starting 5. Right. And they were really good in the few times they play. I think 16 or some odd minutes. And then the other thing is what you said. When you say there's four series that all could have been the lead, this is why it's Katie versus Kauai. Do we have so many things going on? I think sometimes we can miss that. These are really, truly legendary generational players. And I'm reminded of something, in fact, you and I were together when it happened down in Miami, who I was young. He had not won anything at that point. And it was almost like pop told them, I don't think you're better than LeBron, generally speaking, over the course of a season. But let's see if you can be better than this series. Take go at him. When you're open from three, I don't care if there's only two seconds gone in the possession. Shoot it. And I've gone back over the years and watched that tape of that series only in 15. Where Kauai just let LeBron have it and just came at him, defensively came out of LeBron and it finds series, but this first smoked him, and that's when we saw this Kauai. I want Thai. I think ty Lou is one of our best coaches. He's super pragmatic. He's the opposite in most cases. Guys, like Mike Malone and darvin, who are so afraid and so panicky, I'd like to see him really challenge Kauai. Yeah, you know, Katie is maybe top three top four of all time. There's people that say that, let's find out if he's better than you. Let's just go at him. If he's better than you, so be it. But let's see if he is. Go at him. And if you end up getting tired, Paul becoming eventually, but go out in these first couple of games and tell your team, make them stop our guy we think he's the best player in basketball right now. And see what happens. It's going to be a challenge. On Durant, I've actually been surprised at how often he's being used as just purely a spot up guy in Phoenix, even though it's part of his value. We know that. Like Katie in the corner is still massively valuable and he's willing to do that and let Chris and Devin cook. I think as they get rolling more in the playoffs, they're going to need to use him more as a screener as a ball handler in the pick and roll with Chris Paul as a screener, kind of get more predatory matchup wise like that. And as it Kawhi, one thing they did occasionally against Phoenix in a regular season when Kawhi felt like he was getting rolling is what something the rockets used to do for James Harden, which is set picks for him at half court and just get him going downhill. Hard and fast and into guys. And that's an interesting tool. I'm going sons and 6. Yeah. And my pick to make the finals being gone in the first round. Bye bye. Series number 5, and now we get a big drop off in the series power rankings. Almost by default, default is Homer Simpson once said the two sweetest words in the English language default. Boston Atlanta and I called the hawks win over the heat in the play in series and yet I still think that's a huge win for Boston. Boston against small guards is death and the hawks have two of them into Dante Murray although he fights like all hell he's a very good defensive player and Trae Young who is just a blinking target at all times for opposing offenses. And Boston just rained threes on the hawks in two games in the two games that mattered between the teams, Boston was 41 of 88 on threes. Just generating whatever they wanted, hunting Trae Young everywhere and passing out of that. And defensively, they're going to throw a lot of looks at just like the clippers are going to throw a lot of looks at the suns, but their favorite look was not hiding, but putting Horford over on Deandre hunter and guarding Clint capela with wing players and switching Trae Young Clint capela two man game as much as they could. Obviously they couldn't get to that matchup every time. And when I was on Clint capela, they also managed fine. I just, I think they've just got so many defensive weapons to throw a tray from Derek white Marcus smart jaylen Brown Jayson Tatum and that switching scheme that I just talked about, which the hawks, you know, the reason the reason you do that is obvious if you want to involve Al Horford in the pick and roll, if you want to involve Boston center, you got to put Deandre hunter in as a screener and have capella or a kongu hanging out in the dunker spot, mucking up your spacing. And that's fine. You can make hay out of that, but it's not the way the hulks are used to playing. I just, I just think this is an absolutely terrible matchup for Atlanta. And I will give them a gentleman's sweep game and pick Boston in 5. I just don't know what answers they have. And the interesting answer that they've had under Quinn Snyder that won them the play in game is offensive rebounding. They're number two in offensive rebounding since March 1st. It's been a clear point of emphasis. Boston's the number one defensive rebounding team in the league, not by a lot. They're number one in their close to like a pack of teams at three, four, 5, but I just think if they're diligent, they take that away and they make Trae Young's life hell and the dogs have a lot of talent. I just don't see, I don't see a path for them to win a lot of games in this series. Yeah, I know do I, I have three things down here for Atlanta to have any shot to make a competitive series. I actually like the other series. We haven't talked about it yet better. Atlanta boards versus Boston's defensive glass work, as you said, we saw it against Miami that athleticism, that energy, that can carry that can travel. They can do that in game and game out. They have a lot of it. A con whoo and capella in particular, but all their guys

"Like I said, if they had just one of those two bigs and particularly Adams who is just a one man offensive rebounding team. I mean, by himself, he makes you an elite offensive rebounding team. And without him, they're just kind of average. Look, we talked about this over text. There's one obvious theme here that should concern the grizzlies and concerns me pick in the grizzlies. Look, Dylan Brooks is going to guard LeBron. He'll be the primary assignment on the brun. Jaren Jackson can guard Anthony Davis and when he does guard Anthony Davis, that's a pick and roll you can actually switch. Without that much pain, like yes AD will hurt Dylan Brooks in the post, but Dylan Brooks is like a cinder block man. You're not gonna move him. He's gonna make you earn it. You gotta help and load a little bit, but like that's not a painful switch. And step one to beating the Lakers is if you can switch that to man game, you got a shot. Now, I bet they'll start games with Tillman at center and guarding Anthony Davis, so jaren Jackson can roam off of Vanderbilt. That both protects jaren Jackson from the big issue that we're about to talk about, which is fouls. If Brooks and Jackson are guarding LeBron and AD a lot, the Lakers were second in free throw rate on offense and first in free throw 8 on defense. They're walking into every one of these games with like an 8 O advantage just from free throws. And without Clark and without Adams and by the way, jaren Jackson junior was often their second choice on LeBron when Dylan Brooks rested during the regular season. I just don't know that they can survive foul trouble to one or both of those guys and foul trouble to both of them in the same game is going to be a catastrophe. And that's the obvious spotlight issue in this series. It's the one that grizzlies fans are going to be looking for because they're going to cry conspiracy as soon as the officiating starts to tilt against them. The Lakers are really good at forcing the issue. I think the grizzlies bring some tools on defense to this series that can really, really wear the Lakers, not wear them down, but make it harder for the Lakers to score even when they have the floor spread. Even when they take Vanderbilt off the floor and they just put shooting around LeBron and AD. I think the grizzlies have some pretty powerful defensive answers to that. I just worry that fowls are going to are going to limit their ability to really, really deploy those for as many minutes as they need to. Well, I think you kind of bury just because all those smart things you said, I think you kind of buried what maybe is the biggest story connecting to the phallus shoe. And that is the ability to switch those screens, not just with triple J and Brooks, but also with Tillman. Tillman's lad on his feet and I think people realize he defends AD. I thought pretty well. They might even let him try LeBron and you have to remember this when the Lakers, the Lakers had Thomas Bryant, poised to have the greatest offensive season minutes part of it. Of all time, it was crazy. And that was LeBron pick and roll. He can't play in Denver. They have no LeBron on their team. No one knows how to pass them on pick and roll for them, except for jokic, who never plays with Thomas does. The Lakers aren't going to have that advantage if Memphis can switch it and not foul. And so to me, the first step in fixing a problem is absolutely knowing that it's there and addressing it. And I've been Taylor Jenkins is absolutely elite as a coach, maybe top 5 in the world for professional athletes. There's no question it's in big red ink all over the locker room. We can not foul as someone who teaches the game for a living. You can help guys not foul. It challenged their discipline, right? It's not about toughness here. It's about the discipline of make them make those shots over. You don't reach, don't grab, and if they beat you, they beat you, save that foul later on, give them the two points. And help is coming anyway. That doesn't mean they'll do it because part of Memphis is issue is they're so full of energy. They're so full of testosterone. And that is to their disadvantage. But I think if they can go to two after four, I think you'll see a much more fatigued Laker team and you'll see them struggling fourth quarters in Memphis can win. What jaren Jackson junior really needs to do, and he's like I said, he's gonna split time between rover and guarding age. For sure. Yeah. And he'll even make him a rover when the Lakers are small and AD is the only big on the floor. They'll stick them on Troy Brown junior sometimes on Rui and say rove rove. He's really got to avoid offensive fouls. Like I don't mind if you commit some defensive fouls, these illegal screen fouls that he's piling up. Those are the ones that take you out of the game and you're not even getting any advantage really by committing those fowls. On the other end of the floor, what worries me for Memphis is this is the 22nd rated half court offense in the league against a really, really great defensive team, a very good defensive team. That has a lot of answers for what Memphis likes to do, namely Anthony Davis on jaren Jackson junior, which is a tough matchup for anybody. I thought AD was as good defensively as anyone in the league this year. Other than maybe jaren Jackson junior. And on morant, this team of feather and darvin Hamm's cap, I would say, has been one of the more aggressive teams going under screens on morant and they'll probably open with Austin Reeves on them. I would guess they've used Vanderbilt on them to at times when the grids only have one big on the floor. We'll see if we see that. And daring morant to beat them with jump shots and long floaters and morant is good enough to beat you in some games just with floaters. He will make enough floaters to punish that defense in the Lakers will adjust and they can adjust, but I worry a little bit about Memphis scoring enough in a series that becomes a complete slowdown half court rock fight and I think they're going to need to get a requisite amount of transition points off turnovers, whatever to win this series and the Lakers do not turn the ball over a lot on offense is most LeBron teams tend to they take care of the ball. That's how Memphis gets enough points in the half court in this series is a big is a big plot line to me. Yeah, I mean, they've got they've got obviously some great shooters that are shooting it really well. Luke doesn't miss these days. But I think what you're saying goes to what I was suggesting about fatigue factor. Well, that's on Memphis to race. And that's on methods to push on makes and misses just get crossed the timeline three seconds upon getting possession that millisecond you get possession, you're gone. Every I would stress that with tyus, who doesn't like to run as much as jaw, guys, we are racing all the time. The Lakers started the season racing. They have slowed down considerably. I mean, there's still, I think, 14th or 15th, last 15 games in pace. But then our top 5. They were really racing early. They need to focus on that the size and get into that age, make those make those two superstars run, not just run race. Get them to have to play with the urgency a ton, and here's the things that maybe it's regency bias, but I watched that Minnesota game. If those were high school players making some of the passes, the Lakers made late, they would be benched. This is still that team. They've been playing so much better. Really, after that first one and I start, they've been one of the better teams, even with their old team, and then of course this new, I think, in new and improved team. Russell not playing was kind of weird. I just, I just think he's going to go with the old group that he had before the trade deadline a lot, which is fine. And I think Memphis can wear those guys down. I think those first, you know, obviously Memphis has to get one of two at home that goes without saying, if they get too, if they get two in a row, I think they're going to cruise in the series. I wouldn't be surprised if Lakers went one. They've been a great home team all year. I think one of the big 5 and 6 at home. Right. You mentioned flying, I think it's just imperative bane and canard, and it'll be interesting to see how often they play the two of them together with morant, how often they risk that. They need to run and run and run in the half court. And why I say interesting how much they play together is fundamentally the Lakers with a 6 8 greatest of all time, maybe ball handling

"The low post podcast, the NBA playoffs start in two days. We know 6 of the 8 series after tomorrow's final two play in games we will know all 8, but we can't wait that long. You need time to listen and digest and prep. So in the name of the basketball gods, we call upon what is now an annual tradition, it used to be the 8 by 8, 8 minutes apiece for 8 first round series, podcast. It's now, I don't know, the ten by 6 and a couple minutes on the one 8 series we don't know, and we always do it because we need to be smart, we need to get smarter, we need to know the X's and O's, the themes with of true hoop, the author of basketball is jazz David Thorpe. How are you? Zach, I'm well, thank you for asking, and I just have to say, I always look forward to your podcast so much. Sometimes we get blessed to get him two in a week, and I do my morning walk, which I've been doing for a long time now, and I first thing I always do is to check to see if you drop something and all this week, the habit is, oh, I wonder who Zack's talking to you about the playoffs because I just forget that it tends to be me and I'm always so disappointed that I'm the one has to talk inside and get a listen to Kirk and KP or whomever, but we're gonna do our best to get smarter with each other for sure. As always, I have ordered these series as the dictator of this podcast in my level of interest in them starting with the most interesting to the least interesting of the 6. We will mention as an aside, the one 8 possibilities later, but we obviously don't know them. I have already revealed to you that my most exciting first round series. And I would argue there are four candidates for this spot. You could pick any of the four and then there are two that are kind of like we'll get to them. So we'll give them their due. Number one on my list just an irresistible matchup so irresistible that it veered into the cartoonish earlier this year during the Shannon sharp Dylan Brooks, bru ha ha, the Los Angeles Lakers, the number 7 seed going to the Memphis Grizzlies, the number two seed, and it's not just irresistible because of the sort of the aging Lion of LeBron James against the young up and coming audacious Memphis Grizzlies and all the Shannon sharp nonsense and all that. The grizzlies, this version of them, I mean, I think they put themselves on the national map with a game in Los Angeles when that was the game when Kyle Anderson back when he was a member of the Memphis Grizzlies talked talk, you know what to LeBron, which nobody does, and that was the same game when John morant did the Superman two handed block on Avery Bradley, I believe, on the backboard in transition. Everyone's like, oh my God, this team is not messing around. And if. Steven Adams or Brandon Clark, if just one of them were healthy, I don't even need both. I would be pretty aggressively all in on Memphis to win this series despite the fact that I think most of the media is probably gonna pick the Lakers who are 19 and 8 in their last 27 games they've been a very, very good team now for a significant sample size, but I like a lot of what that version of me. I like a lot of what Memphis can still bring in this series, but if you just gave them one more big, I would like their combination of sort of brutishness and the Lakers, although they played fast this year, they were really bad transition defense team and they don't like these like young energetic flying around athletic teams and who just don't want to be in your face, create chaos, get out and transition, and that's the grizzlies to a T and even in the half court you got Desmond Bain running around just flying around and I think D'angelo Russell will be guarding Desmond Bain for good chunks of this series and that's a good way to punish D'angelo Russell just run his ass around. I like a lot of what Memphis has in this series. I don't know who I'm gonna pick. But if they had one of those guys, I think I'd pick them. As of now, I'm still undecided. What interests you about this matchup coach? Well, you did a pretty good job of summarizing a lot of my thoughts. It is an old versus young really athletic versus super skilled and crafty, certainly in the best players for the Lakers. They have a lot of skilled guys. Lakers, palinka that built a heck of a team. There's a lot of talent on that team. And I agree with you totally that especially if Adams played LeBron has passed the age now where he likes to crack back and block out the other teams big when AD goes to block a shot. He ain't missing around with that. Adams would crush them if that was the case. It won't be as hard now without him, but what interests me the most, which I think is the biggest story I alluded to this to you on a text earlier. I have to always remind myself to, in the world of physics, you have to think of the biggest forces that affect us first. And I do this all the time with the teacher, gravity always wins. The gravity in this series, in my opinion, is darvin ham. I thought he was bad all season. Doesn't mean he didn't do some good things, and they're playing pretty well. I know he's a rookie coach and coaches can always get better and often do. That's just like anything else. But I think his knee jerk reaction and he's not the only one in the playoffs that does this is to keep going back to his stars. And that's exactly what met this needs. Even if they drop a game of the first two, it even two two after four, Dylan Brooks wears people out. He is a very physical defender. Jaren Jackson, we know what he can do defensely. I think he's the defensive player of the year. LeBron James was exhausted at the end of that play in game. That's why he kept throwing the ball to the bad guys and making one terrible, terrible play after another. Zach tired players make mental mistakes constantly. And I think this is a youth versus age and experience battle. And I think youth is heavily favored in this. Certainly with that extra guy, I think they're going to wear that team down. I don't trust darvin to just play what I think is a deep bench and give those guys a break. We're going to see 38 plus minutes every game from those two stars and I think the grilles can wear them down. I think the grizzlies can definitely win the series. Like I said, if they had just one of those two bigs and particularly Adams who is just a one man offensive rebounding team. I mean, by himself, he makes you an elite

"It was ultimately Seymour, but they do, he has operated that way in the past. Yeah. So I do wonder Phil Perry. He threw it out there yesterday. He doesn't usually just throw things out there just for the sake of it. Maybe quay walker is a guy out there looking at the top of the draft too. So we just basically covered all of our bases just in case they do just about anything on Thursday night. So that's the way we do it here, right? So it's not about predicting. It's just about getting out there. How many games can you know? By the way, I don't know why none of the defensive players are showing up. I was about to read it off. They did have Quincy Carter and Patrick pastel on that Georgia team. Yeah, also, I didn't mention devonte Y in the first round and I'm not saying that there's anything going on with him off the field or anything like that that I know of. But I didn't mention him as a first round guy because I didn't mention him as a first round guy. Devonte Wyatt, I don't know enough information. I'm not speculating. It's not a Christian barmore situation. I don't want to put that out there, but there is some reason league why that devonte Wyatt is falling out of the first round. I don't think it has anything to do with outfield. I think it's more about on field stuff potentially, but whatever it is, that's how it feels. Is that he's not going to be there. So I think it's going to be an interesting thing. To look at, like, you said, there are trends suggest closer to the football is probably where they're going. I don't know if that's no, the trend doesn't suggest. Well, not on offense, it doesn't suggest that. Well, it suggests that close to the football. And they're not going to go wide receiver..

"He retired the last two years. In my mind, they had more prepared guys to coach that position in those spots. So you can say overall the coaching staff. Because when he first retired, Dante scarnecchia, they had googs in the building, right? I can't say I'm gonna call him boobs, right? Who's in the building? It didn't work out long term with goose, but he was a really, he's a good offensive line. Are you still coaching offensive line in the league now? He's one of the better ones. Then you had the coal pop of it, Carmen bracelet, brain trust, post scarnecchia, that was basically, and they still run Dante scarnecchia system now. But they were just fresh off of learning under Dante's Carnegie. Now, who's coaching offensive line, mat Patricia? Is it Billy Yates? Billy Yates, I guess, is probably the, it's kind of like Troy Brown versus Joe judge, right? Let's hope it's Billy. Right. Okay. So if it's Billy Yates, I feel a little bit better about it. Again, they're still going to run scar system. They're still going to consult Dante scarnecchia. But I don't think that there is as automatic of a feeling that you can take Mike on Wendy in the 6th round and turn him into a diamond, right? I don't know if there's that on a Mac. Now, the positive I keep having with tackle is, I don't know if Trevor penning is there. Like, I don't mean there at 21. I mean, developmental wise in terms of his technique and all that kind of stuff. He needs coaching. Like he needs coaching. And he needs to get good coaching and to get at the most out of him. He's got to control his aggression. He's got to limit the penalties. He's got to work on some things technique wise in his assets. He's not a home run thing. You also look at Bernard Raven's only made 18 starts in his entire life at offensive line. So he needs seasoning. He needs coaching. So do any of those guys, to me, I don't know if handing those guys off to Bill Yates and Matt Patricia is really going to be the best thing in the world for those players. So that gives me a ton of pause with those two tackles. And they're going to go offensive line as much as I hate it. The best thing for their coaching staff is probably to take a guy like Zion Johnson who they don't have to touch. You just put in that left guard. You don't have to touch them. And it's over. And it worries me at 21. Do they have the coaching staff in the infrastructure to coach penning up? I'll give you one.

"This draft at areas of need for the Patriots and actually check a lot of patriots boxes. Like Jahan Dodson outline receiver, a BK on the edge, rasheed walker at tackle Brandon Smith at linebacker. Juwan brisker, thank you at safety. Those guys all played like patriots. They all have patriot states. They all look like patriots. And if they had Alabama on their Jersey instead of Penn State, we would all be talking about John Dodson like we're talking about John metchie. Like it's really that simple. And I think that a lot of those guys, you know, even like a guy like Jessie Luke later on in the draft is somebody that I think plays a lot like a patriot. So I'm very interested to see how they approach Penn State. Brandon Smith at linebacker, extremely athletic, 6 foot three, 250 pounds. Like in terms of checking their size thresholds and bringing some athleticism to the second level. He checks every single box for them. But he's a Penn State guy. So we'll see what happens. And then I'll give you one more set of numbers here because we're running along we'll wrap this up, but the schools they draft the most from. So since 2000, it's actually not Alabama. Alabama is tied for a second. Since 2000, they've drafted 9 players from Florida. Most of those are pre 2012. Right. So that's a little skewed than Alabama and Michigan 8 Georgia Arkansas 7. If we want to just do the last decade, Alabama 7 Arkansas, Michigan 5, Rutgers four, and then there's a bunch of schools with three. So to me, like a lot of the draft is looking at trends. We talked a lot about this on the show. They like to make more than 8 ticks. They've only taken three linemen in the top 100 in the last ten years. This is and look, the trends are true until they break them, right? Right. I was sitting here pat on the table that we're monitoring Stevenson was going to red shirt because that's what history told us entirely. And then it didn't happen. But a lot of the draft is simply looking at trends. And that's kind of why I wanted to talk about this. I know I kind of shoved it into the end of the small draft show,.

"For? We got three. Kenny Pickett, treylon Burks, Malik Willis. Those are the three guys who realistically aren't expected to go ahead of the Patriots. You could maybe throw Chris olave in there. That's four. So if we're saying Johnson ceiling or floor is 12 to 15, and then those four guys go ahead of it, well now you're in business. And that's kind of how this works. So Marcus mosher has Jermaine Johnson at 17 on his consensus report. So we're talking about four spots, right? So a couple of things happened. And that's I'm guessing that's not like a mock drafting. That's just ranking talent. Yes, right? So four spots, pick it. Burke's Willis. There's three. And then if you want to call it a lot, if you want to say a lava, mcduffie, whoever, there's your four. Right. That's how it works. Can we go over those college numbers real quick? I'm just curious. I want your thoughts on these. Yeah. Go ahead. So this is something I did earlier today. In 20 plus years, there's 8 power 5 schools Bill Belichick is not drafted from. Clemson, duke, Indiana, Kansas, Kansas state, Oregon state, Utah, Washington state. You got some hit or miss programs in there. You got some, I mean, Kansas is Kansas. They're not very good. Indiana's not very good. Duke's not very good. Oregon state Utah kind of come and go. Clemson stands out. Yeah. Is it just 'cause he knows that Davos a tool? It's interesting. Clemson's very different. Most of those other schools are in and out bull eligible. Clemson at least for the last ten years has been a title condense. So defensively when I look at or think about Clemson and under dabo, I automatically think of brand venables is now the head coach of Oklahoma, right? Is there a defensive mastermind or was for the better part of those last decade? Venables is known for being one of the more exotic defensive play callers at any level of football. We're talking fire zone sim pressures. I mean, you throw the kitchen sink of scheme at all these different quarterbacks, right? And our blitz and guys from all over the place, your coverage rotations are extremely exotic and I think that they might look at that defensive scheme and not see a ton of translation into the patriot scheme of what they do. It's more zone based. Like I said, more blitz zone, I would say than anything to do with man. And a lot of it is venables counting on the fact that college quarterbacks are raw processors and just don't see the field well. And he knows if he all of a sudden starts throwing weird blitzes and guys coming from different angles and stuff like that that he's going to catch a lot of these young kids off guard. And it's worked for them, obviously, to a big degree. But I think when you look at the Patriots, believe it or not, and I think a lot of people look at it and say, oh, Bill Belichick's always cooking up things in the lab and stuff. The Patriots from a coverage standpoint, their system is pretty basic and standard. It's cover one. It's own match cover three. It's pretty standard stuff. The success is based on talent, not skiing. And it's a lot of it's also predicated on everybody understanding their piece of the puzzle and doing their jobs such a high level. And they coach these things so well. That they're able to do that. But you talk to a lot of coaches around the league and you hear a lot of people say, you know, the Patriots, they're covered system is not that exotic..

"Can see that. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that a guy like Jermaine Johnson falls. But we can pull it up. One of these edge guys is going to fall. There's just so much walker Hutchinson, you know, thibodeau. We had to get to 8. Some people think he's a potential first overall pick. I would put an excuse me, I would put Jordan Davis in that group. 'cause I think he's that exposed of an athlete. Devonte Wyatt and all these guys, George karloff, it's like somebody's gonna fall. For us, it was Johnson. Yeah. But somebody's gonna fall. Carlos is filled too. In terms of the Patriots at 21, I know a lot of people want a corner. I hear you. I think dadson hill or Tyler Gordon could come into the conversation if they were able to trade out of that pick. If we had them trade out of 21 because Jermaine Johnson wasn't there, right? And it was the rest of the guys that were there. Then I think they go end up going DB with that pick. But they're a DB in the second round type of team. That's just what they do, right? Outside of Devin McCourty, that's what they do. From everything that you hear about the Patriots and I get that this time of year, I treat everything with the Patriots as a giant grain of salt. There's no real solid information coming out of there. But getting somebody close to the ball, getting someone in the trenches or closer to the line of scrimmage, I think is what their ultimately thinking, whether it's offensive line or defensive line. We end up going defensive line with a guy like Jermaine Johnson, or edge defender, whatever you want to call it. So I think that they would ultimately leaning towards trenches here at this pic. I think it's going to be trading out. I think the trade out of the pick, move into the back end of the first round or the early second round and get their daxton hill or get their kylo Gordon or get somebody like.

"All right. Excuse me, sorry. I can go, I don't think it's Wyatt. I don't think they'll take Wyatt. They could take an offensive lineman too. Their offensive line didn't get kind of banged up late last year. Yeah, but they're going to take an offensive lineman and maybe it's like Zion Johnson. I think they take an offensive lineman. I don't think it will be Raymond. I think they have to take a guy that's going to play plug and play, right? Is this center right now? I can't remember off the top of my head. They could take lender bombing. He's probably the best pure player. Carla this though is a little bit rashawn Gary like. We just said they have to take an offensive player to keep Rogers happy. Yeah, I don't know if you think a center keeps her Rogers happy. I don't know. He might. So the centers on the Ross right now are Jason Hansen, Michael Bennet and Josh Myers. Yeah, I think Myers starring for them last year if I remember correctly. So yeah, they took him in the second round last year, yeah. So probably not a center. So I think it's either I think it might be Christian Watson. I honestly do. All right. We're getting really weird now, but I love it. It's not like that weirdo, right? Because you're giving him to teams that have histories of taking these types of players and developing them. Like he's either going to Kansas City or Green Bay in the first round, I think. Yeah. So Christian Watson. This one here is Wyatt. They need a run stopper. Yeah, I could see them taking Wyatt. Yep, the way this broken at least. I know there's a lot of buzz out there that why it's not going around one, but we'll see. Saints are back on the board they already took a tackle. I still like Carl Loftus for them. Yeah, they get a steal here in Karl off this. Yeah, I don't mind it out of it. Cam Jordan also getting up there. So yeah, that could be looking to move on there. The bills, the corner, I could see them liking booth better than elam. Yeah, definitely. I think that the way that they run mostly zone based, I would say Andrew booth junior mostly his own base corner. They love to take chances or their draft profile is very athletic, very explosive players, Alan and Oliver, that type, yeah. So I'm sold on them like Andrew birthday, the only other option here I know, bill's Twitter is talking a lot about running backs. And a guy like priest hall. You know what? No, 'cause we gotta take some of these guys. First round. I agree with you. Booth. Booth. This one finally is a guard. Actually, it might be winter bomb. Yeah, I think they can get linder bomb here. They would be ecstatic. He might be the best lineman in the draft period. He's a center, so he falls. But just in terms of tape and everything that you look at, he might be the best offensive lineman in the entire draft and they're getting here right now..

"Where I go from here, unfortunately, none of these teams that are calling really can offer the Giants what they want. In terms of future draft assets, Washington, they know they're going to need a quarterback. They're not going to move one. Baltimore, they're kind of on the fringe. That first round pick next year could be working on it. And then you're just getting too down. You don't want to move that far down the board. Meanwhile, you have the New Orleans Saints who remember made that trade with the eagles to pick up the extra first round pick. The saints, I think, want to move up. And that's kind of the speculation when they made that deal. They're going to move up from a tackle or they're going to move up for a quarterback, whatever it may be. Yeah, I'm going to take my rise to here. That's what is all going. So I'm just pulling this up here because they have the trade chart to my side. I think this is where so the other team that could do this is the eagles, but the eagles and giants aren't trading. I think this is where the saints strike. And this is about even on the trade chart. I don't have the exact numbers in front of me. But that's about right. I want to wait forever to come back to make the trade. I guess it's not happening. All right, whatever. This is the trade. The saints are going to move up. They lost her on arms instead. They need to tackle. And this is why they got the two picks. This is why they made that trade with the eagles. The Giants are not done trading. They might be back. But now they have a shot at three first round picks instead of two. It drafted is very deep beyond the top 15. And the new coaching staff, the new GM there, everybody. They're going to get a chance to really rework this roster and retool this roster. All right. Did you hear any of that? No, computer issues, sorry, everybody. I don't know. So to sum it up very quickly, the scene's traded with the eth extra.

"From now. The Jacksonville Jaguars will be on the clock with the first overall pick, this right now feels like one of the most uncertain non consensus, whatever term you want to use drafts, even right at the top. It's pretty remarkable when you start to think about all the different possibilities, all the different ways this could go, and at this point, nobody really has a general consensus. So the goal here tonight is to do a full first round mock draft, meaning picks one through 32 for all 32 teams are 30 30 teams, right? The rams don't have a first round pick, 31 teams, whatever it is. And while he was 18, there's 8 teams that don't have first round picks. There's a bunch of teams. Okay, good job, Evan. Way to go. We might move back up with why there's one team I think there's a really good chance they pay a lot to trade in the back end of the first round. We'll get to some trades. I think the biggest thing that you hear right now is not that teams aren't interested in trading. Trading, excuse me, but more so that there's not that poll to trade up from teams as much as maybe there are in different years. Especially at the top of the draft because there's really no quarterback consensus that, oh, we absolutely have to trade up to get this quarterback. That's not necessarily happening this year. So I think the biggest thing that we have to look at is what's going to happen in picks one through 20. That's what we're going to talk about. And we're going to sit there and say, okay, what are we going to see at for the Patriots at 21? But most importantly, I also want to talk about some of the players at the top of the draft outs that we haven't really been able to discuss here on the show a whole lot just because we've been so patriot focused. So that's going to be an example. I would also like to let it be known that I pitched doing all 7 rounds all 250 whatever picks and Evan said no. So just I want to put that out there. Yeah. All right. And said we'd be here until Thursday like that was a bad thing. I don't know where his head's at. Oh my God. I'm glad we're maybe next year. Maybe next year. Let's get into this. We're going to pull up the PFF mock draft simulator shameless plug right there for our guys at PFF and we're going to set our parameters. I believe Alex said you should take it away from here. Yeah, I mean, there's nothing to say, 'cause we're doing all the picks. So none of this stuff matters..
