"Today is August first two thousand nine thousand nine hundred thirty eight days to kick off. We got that Hall of Fame Game. Yes we're watching it right now. The the Falcons are losing. I think wait for the score to pop up Yep then for seven Atlanta's zero second quarter twelve minutes eleven seconds left suck at Atlanta half. Well you know some people say the preseason games. Don't matter that's wrong. We did a correlation a few years ago in twenty and thirteen because that's as current as it was updated and at that time there was a point four seven four or five four five correlation was really you could tell the buccaneers here's season pretty well about how they did in the preseason and then we updated and it's a point five one relation coefficient so pretty high one spreadsheet finalized. I might Palestinian do so we don't speaking of which we have the Vita video or still working on it after technical ditch issues were still working out at the video all chopped up and everything we're just trying. GotTa get some shut out around so he's been in an cranky mood well. If I was just doing the video that'd be fine but we're GONNA do Webcam with it and backdrops yeah. It's a lot of work some other stuff well. I'm trying to get it set up so we can do it. Efficiently rows life motto is speed and efficiency since the Allen things are not speedy or efficient. He gets very aggravated with it I like to I will spend five hours on something to get it to take a minute off off a day. If I can get it to automate or work better listen. Here's a slide bell where you don't actually have to do do any like loops or anything you just slide it and clicks so he can save those three seconds and then also. Weren't you trying to learn entire shoe one thing that's really take seriously. I'm not going to live that like your rubbed off on me a little bit so I love my spreadsheets and sometimes you can do spreadsheet with just a simple adding subtracting whatever you can do it yourself with your own brain but I'll set up a really complicated how flick I'll spend three hours on a formula to get to do it especially. If I'M GONNA use it more than once. Oh it makes a huge difference well. There's the whole they've found if you get in the habit science. They found that you're more likely to do something you don't want to do if you make it easy they've for instance one of the examples <hes> one of the books I read the author the book and his wife wanted to eat outside on their patio but they never ended up doing it. They couldn't figure out why so they ended up moving the table. There was like three steps down off the patio and then they had the table down there on a little concrete thing they moved the table up onto the patio and they started eating out every night because then it's just it was just a matter of walking an extra twenty feet down three steps. You take data away loses easier going to work out. If you WANNA work out go to the gym. Have all your gym stuff ready. You know don't make that a stumbling block in your way to work out because these little things will just make you go off screw it. I'll do it later so I tried to get all that crap out of the way that's so that's why the video is because Ralph has been spending hours hours and hours and hours trying to get this set up so that we can do these videos much more efficient in the future. I have a video game controller setup so I can do all the rewinding fast forwarding pausing click this setup and them out and maybe hit some buttons on the keyboard annoying in fact tech followups follow up. Jimmy Garoppolo got hurt in game three in two thousand eighteen against the chiefs on September twenty third last year. He played in week one against Minnesota Week two against Detroit Klein Alexander got hurt October twenty first two thousand eighteen against Cleveland Week seven neither one of them Um have played in almost in almost a year and they're going to go against us in week. One with no preseason not work preseason. What what are these coaches thinking that is really die? I'm happy we really need that first. Weekly I think Santana we cannot lose and have quite Alexander Xavier. What barriers we choose the big one though we too we cannot go to Carolina and lose to the panthers and Joe McCoy play well almost six minutes and six minutes of looking at the clock those talk mic? Did you see Cam Newton's hair on N._F._l.. Network it was it was there were talking while the hall of fame game was going on they were interviewing N._B._A.. Cam Newton turned around. I thought it was a pineapple. I thought they were talking to a Bible. What is up with that freak man he? Is there something wrong with I. If I was a Carolina Panther fan besides being embarrassed just being a Carolina Panther Fan I would be embarrassed to have Cam Newton the quarterback they love him that Carolina Panthers Twitter Account they did a poll before all or nothing and they said do you think this season of all or nothing will make you like Cam Newton more or less and it was like ninety six percent said more Carolina Panther Fan Yeah I honestly they've I've got issues because their Carolina Panthers fans to begin with but they liked Cam Newton because he wins except last year Ingram all the super bowl. He didn't even try for that fumble. He fumbled the ball and then just looked at it. He's like R._G.. Three and then Seattle seahawks I don't remember the Super Bowl and all it really was not that exciting waves fun watching the panthers get stalled in the hospital. No that was Seattle and New England okay so then was the Carolina Panthers on the next one in the before twenty fifteen one after I want to say or before flare after can't remember followup I talked about Rick Stroud copy me with the AMOEBA defense. I'd said this defense we're going to field is going to be more like a Amoeba defense now crown he got yes okay I had said I'm not aware of anybody else. Using that phrase I mean I'm sure somebody has at some point is definitely not a common term. Well I'm looking up. It is a term for basketball defenses fences and they call him a B._B.. Defenses basketball. I never watched basketball so it didn't get it from there however the first reference I could find it in the N._F._l.. Was it's two thousand and nine some New York giants fans were talking about it for third defense. They were basically saying we don't know what kind of defenses is it looks like a Blob <unk> out there and somebody's trying more like an Amoeba later in two thousand and twelve and it was used in reference to the seahawks defense a bit and then the Patriots Defense was referred to as an Aviva defense defense last year in previous year and the Ravens Defense was referred to as an O._B.. But defense last year so I must have picked it up now Haas Moseley yeah so I get rickshaw. Branko Mallon was a copy me. He didn't steal my bit. Maybe it's like picking up popularity to hopefully it'll pick up a lot of popularity with us. Using it <music> this year follow up the guy we were talking about. One of the guys I had mentioned Dany Lands Zana Teeth Candy and Landry were three players just off the tip on my tongue that really stood out to me as being playmakers really stood out on film. She's like every time they were on the field. They made good shit happen but we couldn't remember the name of Landry during his first name. I think I said Scott is named Derek Landry close very close class well. I used to know a guy named Scott there so that's not actually landry dirt Scott Scott their their latest guy yes okay but he was really good. I really liked him. He was with us <hes> during the she honor only played a couple of games but usually every time he was anything. Get on the field. Every time he was on the field he was has caused turnovers and pressures and making quarterback though interceptions it was just really strange. Daily Zane of is like that too he just he just popped hold tape Keith Tandy any was like that man he hits which is declared guys yeah he was GonNa on special teams going on special teams while we got rid of a model and while other teams don't pick him up Atlanta and he played with somebody after us for awhile might have been the giants I was thinking the giants follow up follow up on a follower but he just they just don't seem to stick and I don't know I mean it's got to be culture of the N._F._l.. You know there's something there because all industries have their own culture and if you're not nick deep in that culture you're not going to survive yeah. Every industry has got its own terminology Reggie. They got their own way of doing things and if you're not well versed in that way you're not gonNA survive and I think that's probably what happens to guys like that. They might be good on the field the they're not good at other aspects that we're not clued in on yeah like they might not be political or they don't have good with the coaches. Get agents agents. They may not speak well yeah. I don't know if I ever heard anyone speak. Never I don't even know what they look like a good point. I need to come love with a list of players that really have stood out to me that have disappeared Derek Landry. He played. I want to say with Chicago. He bounced around on the League for a while before landed with us and he only played in a couple of games or a few snaps and then he was gone but then he was philly. I think he came from Philly new. I'm not gonNA affect. Check a follow up so we're GONNA look at right now. He played from two thousand seven to two thousand thirteen. He played with Jacksonville from two thousand seven. The two thousand and nine played with Carolina in two thousand ten Philadelphia. You're right from two thousand eleven to two thousand twelve and in Tampa for two thousand thirteen he played nine games only started needed one for us. Let's see how many snaps he had hundred twenty three hundred twenty three snaps in nine games and out of those hundred twenty three snaps naps and what I do with my spreadsheets and when I analyze films is I will win. A player makes a play. You know whether it'd be tackle a forced fumble band ball down recovering a fumble eighty eighty play. That's above average positive I will mark it down and and I will compare it to how many snaps they play in how many plays they make and then you get a percentage On the field and Eric later he lets he say one hundred twenty three snapped he probably had fifteen plays which that's that's ten percent. That's huge. Normally guys are around born three percent ten percents off charts and I'm just making those numbers up i. I don't have it right in front of me but I don't know. I don't know why I keep Tandy. I don't know why he just couldn't stick with teams and I never understood why he never got to start with us. Yeah everybody loved him. When he was on the field he was making plays? Everybody's like Tackler town fair good tackler good defender a good a good and coverage Dylan. Oh yeah very good tackler. We've got to get some of them. This year. Speaking of tackling I was listening to the IRA calcium podcast is today and we have talked before about how they're colored it and have them tackling in practice amazed at how that wasn't talked about at all one of the Lovey Smith in tackle either you said that to me and I'm like how in the world have we not known for what six years now in practice at ridiculous no deep into suck. I now tackling has been a huge issue for US lately ever since she on Oh yeah John was a last Esta list team defense that I can remember to tackle well yeah they said that Dirk Cutter had learned from Jack Del Rio School of thought where you just just get the players through preseason with no injuries and then they take it from there so that's why they didn't have them tackling philosophy you. You don't see injuries nowadays due to tackling that much anymore. Normally they're non contact injuries yeah like Orion Stuart with his A._C._l.. Or Quanta Alexander I mean you don't get these hard hits and all that anymore so the tackling getting hurt tackling just doesn't seem to be frequent as it used to be so I'm not a big fan of that and plus. You know the only way you get good at tackling his tackling. That's not something you can crack this but in practice they're going full all four psychic attack all without trying to kill your teammates. I Remember Xiang had the guys tackling that alligator role tackling and yeah that was great. I mean we were tackling everybody. Yeah led the League N._T._F._S. at year by a huge margin yeah huge margin. We had the twelfth best run run defense in the history of the N._F._l.. That was two thousand twelve or two thousand thirteen twelve. No so we're sitting here watching the Atlanta game. We're trying to see how their the second third stringer doing not to impress with anybody. So far didn't get a chance we missed the first series which that's when the first stringers play but I don't even thank Matt Ryan and Julio Jones L. would sprout yeah but we wanted to look at their offense of lamb and they knew guard and you said the guard are they drafted so they had two first round picks. They got a tackle with the first first round pick and then a guard with the second guard was the first one cruise Lindstrom guard from Boston calm. I then they're tackle. Kayla mcgarry Washington apparently K. lob BOB is undergoing a cardiac ablation procedure that was yesterday aunt. It's supposedly minimally invasive and similar to previous procedures. He's had yeah a potential recovery..

"Net, w DVR it is June. The first two thousand nineteen voter where we got DD six Google recoil, and owing house there by doing this season. He got it on mute there six. Fantastic. Whenever he finds that he'll end migos. He by too. I guess I'll try to meet him. I was gonna say I I can't because he, he needed himself. I think I heard walkaway go there. He is. He's back can hear me now. We can she told me this way. So what's going on? Do you now you always talk about we should record the reshow earned? You know, I'll tell you there was one for the bucks. One for the books people. I'm like, petard a Bill that I need to pay. So I'm not worried about it. Here. It's up stapled to anything. I say here for the last twenty minutes, right? No gel. At least the bullet topics that I got, you know, topic, docking Boints. And then one talking point, I expanded on on a whole piece Baber handwritten notes, and with names and dates and everything else. And then the crippled hand went for the Cup of coffee didn't properly Qripoli rip it and Qripoli spilled it all over my fucking ipad. No thumb drives coffee ashes. Luckily, the dog had just moved down below tow notes, but I did it's view, re written down, Gregory. So this is DV radio. The night of cripples. Flynn cripples attack. Oh, why are week? It's good. I don't think I was home last Saturday. I was on the I did I even make it into the show last week. No, no. I was on for a minute. Yeah. I douse the night before the event, I was still awaited, then I said. No, I wasn't there. Okay. While I'm back people back at the farm office that was the night when you couldn't find your shorts that you wear Phil. I was there. Thank you, Google. Dammit gu. I was just starting to that, right. And then you put it on there, because as I said that tax, I went pucker watched this go on Facebook or knows you'll probably fucking doc about it on the air. So I went and booted up the ipad and downloaded the app and see how easy that is even this cripple guy can do it will right when it hit it turned on. I could hear Google just got it acts from six twenty six. You can't say that Google's not ever there for you. She just back you up on barracks, FOX and. Filed that away. But anyway today, I mean I still like minor bone to pack by cheese. Just the land all I mean, you gotta respect your elderly people. You can't be you have to when you do these events, you have to taking incineration, you know, the, the difficulty and so, so we have this thing we've been doing for the last couple of years here. The farm and we've been incorporating the dot the dogs both dogs on these. They have a whole bunch of hiking trails up these mountains all of her lowered southern Hampshire and we've been hitting them and I haven't relate been going, Google has been taken the guys that are in charge drain the dogs, I join them, the trail I was told was was easy and yeah. Yeah. Always not easy at the beginning. Our up the mountain balm out my ass. We, we made it up. The dogs made it a bird went along to the part. She got her exercise in him. Google Google hung in there. Bet you're not in the horse, I was in the rear with the with the gear, and even though I wasn't carrying any gear, but I was in the rare pulling it up and mobile was leading the way. And then we let one of the residence, take point next thing you know, how many fucker we going, he's got a ton owes fall on the Trump that at what your molest truck driver now and anybody else here we were all army, but it was only one eleven Bravo's took the crippled guy took point. Here we go. So. I'm all about. You made it to the top and back to the bottom y'all. We, we have multiple rally points and, or L wait. No RPI on top of the summit. And then we back down, but a good day for the butts and all that. So what else is going on before I let you guys talk like get your shit out of your system and tell me when. Your time. This is your time. All right. Everybody locked we'll for first and foremost. This last past weekend. I was out of state down in northern Virginia. No Virginia, I was at Jimmy's old town tavern? Now, you have this annual event for Memorial Day where they do a bike ride go pay respects to the fall, and they're part of that role in funder and though, years rolling thunder. Remember was supposed to be the last and it doesn't sound like that's gonna happen. Trump said that President Trump said that do you guys want to make this interview this tradition? They were all, like, yes. And he says, we're gonna find a way to make up to. That's a positive. I want to thank Jimmy's old town tavern, but especially the reckoning. Reckoning motorcycle club, the Potomac chapter of northern Virginia. Especially meal by shot out a mule, and scavenger of the Potomac chapter reckoning motorcycle club for having Jimmy sponsor, the DV farm at their day-long event. It's their twenty second annual bike and bash run. There were concerts. There was a concerts that started at noon outside that ran until two three in the morning. And then there was a band inside to play him, though, to advance outsi- Bandon side at his tavern playing until late into the night. They had vendors food. Kinds of great people. I cannot thank them enough. The staff were great the motorcycle club where awesome was there all day. I didn't make it into the wee hours. No. A made it so six at night. So but they raise two grand. I've been told in they're going to be, you know, Sunday that soon. They actually with all the donations and. Bending sales the proceeds that came off for the farm, it came to just shy to grant. So the owner ponied up and made it uneven to grants. I cannot thank them out for sponsoring Devi farm to share. It was an awesome time down there. So. I do did did. I know. That was good. All right. I'm going to be doing a live video on the pages, especially the farm to properly thanked him. I'll rewrite all this shit and won't use any profanity. Alright like that, and I'll be fully rested. I don't know if you guys know this, but this past on the twenty second, it's something that you all have been asking for. And even some of them odds, I know recalls been bother me about it, and just we need a closed group. We don't have enough to do. We should start a close group. So. Well, let me tell you. We started the DV close grow the page is not one of the things I heard on the pages. Are they keep asking? Is this gonna go away? No, it's not. It's almost two million dollars. Even with all the Facebook does the lock us now with our reach. But it's just because of this with the, the way Facebook's going. A little birdie told me I think I've talked about this last week. I'll expand again but the groups have a little bit more leeway. And so I've chosen to to go that way, and it's a closed group we just crack five hundred five thousand members today with that being said, we can no longer change the group to a secret or to an open group, which I never intended to. But that is now locked out. We're going to remain closed group, you have to apply to get in, and it's just for active duty former military of any branch any error. Any MOS and foreign allies are welcome. Holy crap. Do we have a lot of followers in Canada? A lot in the Australian a lot in the Netherlands, the Danes, the polacks, Germans, South Africa, the idea, it's an checks, you know, lots all lock ins or whatever. Every time I say that I think of Bill Murray. It's a piece of cake. We go in. We check us Lamont. Yeah. Mm on? I guess I'm not funny. Boy, I need a laugh track just to keep me going far. Doing bills. Vol is probably doing internet stuff. Yes, the close group. Look, seriously, Dow and wrinkle you gonna you can bounce off me with this to improve your to signs him. But I don't know what, what it is. But maybe there's this impression we've had this, I've seen this in the past, when we first started bringing on a whole bunch of other people that run different things even. I'm not going to mention any names. Well, what I think DV stands for. And what somebody's mother burgers thinking, sands words are there on two different wavelengths first and foremost, whether you call yourself a db and not. We have veteran 's, and I truly believe we should be held to a higher standard. Now, we'll hold you to a higher standard. Hold myself liar. Standard. Okay. I've been harping on this mantra that mantra that, you know there's a difference between being a dick versus being an asshole. You know, don't be a dick on the fucking group in the group are on the page assholes there. Okay. There's a big big difference. And if you don't know that difference, and you're a dick. I. There's a difference between shooting somebody straightened, just blatantly fucking trying to cause issues. Yeah. Exactly. While I'm already added in the last twenty four hours. So the way to group works is, you know, you approve people, I have two standard questions, a lot of people are I'm gone over a thousand fourteen hundred people in the in the box waiting. The, the join, unfortunately, failure to follow simple bucking instructions. I, I some of these people is beyond maze. -ment your two questions. You have to answer both what is right the day change. Sometimes right now for the last five days, the bottom questions always been the same active duty former military, if yes, what branch and country, did you serve it? Although they'll answer the branch but the leave insult one blank. So after about five days, they finally answer it. And then a get in, you know, but until then no, I'm amazed at even though I've been very, I've articulated it as clearly as I can that it is strictly for the military, people know, spouses know friends, whatever that they I have one, put under military service. I I'm so fast with that approved I've, I'm trying to slow down, but I see Iraq. Combat that Iraq Afghanistan.

"I've done every Memorial Day for the last thirteen years, which is taught to the men and women of the Semper fi fund and the the marines. The soldiers sailors, Corman have been helped out, either by the Semper fi fund or by America's fund. I'm joined now by gunnery sergeant nNcholas beverage as wife, Leslie, the husband and wife t-. I always loved that, when that happens gunnery sergeant beverages, welcome. It's great to have you. Where do we find you this morning? I'm currently in Barstow California. I know Marcel. Well, so would you tell the audience when and how you were injured I injured July first two thousand four we hit it. And I think mine, which both my leg broke my back and forth. Spot fracture my ribcage fracture. My spot had all the signs of a half dollar my mom. And then the obvious the head trauma. No. Honey? It's been a long time since the war began that means it's been a long time since your injuries were inflicted. How goes your recovery it's been up and down. It's been Earls derived. I was unfortunate to keep my, my right foot on two thousand eight I was an elective. And I chose to get my right foot cut off in the Marine Corps. Gra toll to eliminate the problem. And my was probably out. So Leslie, first of all, thank you for everything. You do military spouses or just amazing. What perspective covering what role did Semper fi fund haven't? They it a lot easier. That's for sure. But it was hard. We were coming back in. You know we were the first wave hit any medical center. So nobody knew what was going on. Nobody knew what to do with excellent. You know, the big hiccup. The Marine Corps took away pay because they were tracking him said deal to pay us fun with right, there, really that, that financial burden because I put my job, I had no choice. So I know you live what eating I had in San Diego's expensive. And that went very quickly. So it was to me being my car. By sign just alleviated so much of that bird is, and made my focus on where we, you know, where was gonna sleep. Stay away by my husband's bedside lovely. That's amazing. So you were you blew through everything? You're reduced to sleep in your current Semper? Fi is not gonna put up with that, right? Not at all they were right there. And from that point on made sure that we never went without made sure that, you know, all of our needs were met. They knew that financially. This was this was this big hit, and there's a big misconception that people think that the military, you know, the pay continues, there's a lot of things that take place, you know. Because he was wounded. He didn't have any of his gear. We'll guess what? They took it out of our pay. Yeah. Down the road. We did get reimbursed for that because it was, you know, with hit, however, during my new went without bureaucracy bureaucracy just rolls on with the rules in place. So they learn them, gunny you're no novice, Marine Corps of your gunnery starting, you've been there, a long time had you ever heard of the Semper fi fund before you got wounded now, even even with every year, we do you know, we do that maybe Michael society would do that to charity or even donate forms wants anything about seven five on so, and so just briefly, would you describe how you find your caseworker and whether or not you've had the same one or you had a couple in the course of your country. My, my wife was primarily the one that did that time know I was the medications. They gave me my Brandon really worked. So I mean I barely that opened my eyes, Leslie. I'm sorry. "To coast AM from February first two thousand two. And now here is Pam Reynolds. Hi, Pam, you're in are you actually in Atlanta, Georgia? In Atlanta, while I can hear the Atlanta in you. Can't take the country out of the girl. He's got a a a little bit of a cold. You told me. Oh, sorry to hear that. We'll be okay. We'll get through it. Well, after what you've been through, really. It's a little thing. Yeah. When I I don't even know where to begin here. I guess it would be appropriate. Ask you how you discovered that? You had an I mean, how do you know that you have an aneurysm in your brain? I was very lucky. Most people don't go about their lives, and they just die. Yeah. It just explodes on an aneurysm. We should tell people who might not know is what is an aneurysm. Well, it's a ballooning vein or artery. Where the wall of the artery becomes very thin wall tire bubble out eventually explode. Of course, flooding the bite Oregon with blood and that certain death. Virtually die instantly almost I think Backley so somehow in your case, they discovered you have this. How? Excruciating headaches for about ten years and was first diagnosed with migraines syndrome, ten years ten years. My god. Finally, I began to lose the ability to speak and comprehend language, which indicates immediately something's wrong with the brain. Nice edition had an angiogram ordered. Behold in that on that very same day, we found it. And how did you how? Break that news to you. I mean, telling somebody they've got an aneurysm in their brain cannot be an easy chore for any doctor now, especially this one. This is Mike position that I grew up with not only was mine an aneurysm, but mine was a giant bachelor tip aneurysm. Which is in the artery the main artery in the burning. Oh, brother. So it would be a big bang. Oh, yeah. So so I mean, really they you sat down, no doubt. He did want an MRI or something. Well, back then. We're not the thing we add a cat scans scan. Okay. He did a cat scan. He got the results and he sat you down. And and how did he tell you this really he didn't sit me down? He ordered me back into the office. And when I returned to his office, it was virtually vacated but for him. And a couple of nurses. I'd also grown up with. He hugged me. I. We're talking or you've got a good doctor. Oh, I had a fabulous position. He's a wonderful, man. And and so anyway, he hugged you. He had me in in in a very broken town. You gotta know it's bad news. When your doctor hugs you first down. Oh, yeah. It wasn't good news. It was just instantaneous. And he told me that this was very serious. Of course. I had no idea what an aneurysm one in July of nineteen ninety one. August. Always at barrow institute having removed. Well, no the aneurysm. You said you had headaches terrible headaches a decade ten years. Right. So that must mean, I I've never heard of such as I mean, what do I know about aneurysms? But that's a awfully slow. It must have been just slowly getting bigger and bigger and bigger and and making your symptoms more severe, exactly. And we weren't sure that the aneurysm caused the pain until the aneurysm had been clipped in pain disappeared. Sure. It was still a good possibility that it was migraine pain. But I guess he. Well, what did he tell you or what I guess you? Then of course, went to specialist, and they began to tell you what did they say your chances were virtually zero zero. Did you get the better get your affairs in order speech? Exactly. I got in the car left a last specialists in my husband, and I got in the car when it may immediately to our attorney's office for the filing of my last will and testament online station bar three children. Who are of course. My eldest was twelve in my baby was seven eight. How did you face? How did you handle the news and the prospect that you were going to die? I think I was in a state of shock and thank God for shock. Because in my case it allowed me to there. Yeah. Easily go through the motions and getting things taken care of. And being a mother. I wasn't so concerned myself as I was for my children. How old were your children at the time with my baby was seven my oldest child had just turned twelve. Oh, my they were pretty small. And to tell them. Yes. Absolutely. Did did you sit them all down together and tell them. Yes. I did. Oh, brother, explain to them that I would be making your journey. Could not go this time. No matter what happened even though I couldn't physically be here. I would always be here with them emotionally. They couldn't see me. But I could see them. I believe that. I did too. I still still do still believe it. I still believe it at any rate. It must have been rough. I mean to lay that on your children. Did they handle it very, well, I wouldn't became geared clingy. My oldest son. And my middle daughter were convinced that I was like can't with nine lives. Really? Oh, yes. My middle daughter told me while mom if you die you'll be back, right? I think the truth be told I don't think they accepted it. How about your husband? My husband was devastated. Talking to him no dealing with him. He just walked around in circles and had no earthly idea. What to do? I it's unimaginable. The way my wife, and I are as as close as we are. It's unimaginable to lose her. So. Sort of notification that you're about that's just too much. So they did your personal doctor give you any. Well, listen, you've got we're gonna estimate you've got weeks or months or a year to live or what did he tell you? Risen already begun to rupture. We had bleeding in the brain, which is causing the loss of speech ability to comprehend language, and he told me cases sexy as fees. Right. Be lucky to see a mind. Lucky for a month? Attempt to go in and surgically clipped the aneurysm would be certain death. And his advice to me was to take what I had take your take your time. Exactly. And thank God for it. And well things happen as they happened. Obviously, you didn't stop there. Now, how did you get onto this Dr special in the barrow institute? I mean, you must have been in the middle of knowing it was it was over and yet still trying to reach out for anything. How'd you get onto this? Well, we just got real blessed at that point in time. My mother was a physician assistant for many years until she retired. And many of my dearest friends, are are physicians can happen all of my life. I heard this incredible story. Doctor who was performing this daring surgery by they literally put the body in status stasis. Raining all the blood taking the temperature down to fifty eight degrees Fahrenheit. Stopping the heart. No brainwave brainwave brainwaves in that state is now the aneurysm shrinks, no blood in the brain nobler blended aneurysm. Well, sure, no blood nothing in the aneurysm. So it just shrinks shrivels right up. Exactly. So that enabled him to then going safely with no pressure on the brain. What was your age? Then I was thirty five years old God thirty five. Yeah. And you're young thirty five. Oh, no. It was tough. So you heard about this? And did what made a call we immediately contacted barrow institute, and then our records out, and I was found to be an extremely good candidate for the surgery. Because in every other way, I was perfectly healthy and very strong. So and and young. Yes. I would think you would be a very a very good candidate. Right. And they did how much of a disgra. So you went out and visited them. I take it. They invited. You out said come on. We want to see you. Right. I went in to see Dr Spencer on a Wednesday and had surgery on Thursday. Holy mackerel. I didn't have very a very good comprehension of what they were going to do to me. I knew the heart would stop. In terms of the draining of the blood the cooling of the body. He didn't lay all that out. Well. Have. But but I really didn't comprehend. Maybe you didn't exactly wanna hear that. Either back. I think that's really good way to put it. What did he tell you about the the risks that you were? I mean, surely he had at least explained what the probabilities for success were. And that that you might not make it through well on a personal level he promised he'd get me back. He didn't believe him wholeheartedly. This man is a very very. A strong ability to. To win confidence. How a very confident person in you know, as as as as we consider our heads and our brains where in your brain was this. It was in the circle of Willis place, where my physician tells me that are very few short years ago. No one dared to go because I don't know where that is. Is that towards the central part of your new right in the middle of the brain the middle of the brain. Right. So if it went all my functions went with it. Very dangerous procedure. Dr Spencer said that he only did this in as a last ditch effort to save a life because he tell you how many times he had performed this previously. Very many. I was pretty early in the list. This was back in nineteen ninety one boy. But you know, it's funny. What we'll do when we have no choice. Well, there was the other option, but that's no option. Really? Well, you nevertheless. So I mean, you're balancing the possibility of another month of life against the possibility of death on the operating table. And I'm sure you and your husband talked that one over. Really, we didn't spend a lot of time with that. Because with a surgical procedure. We felt like we had an opportunity to live out the entire lifetime. So we didn't really look at it as another month of life or no no cable, no decision to make. You're just gonna go for it. Right. Exactly. But again, Dr spent is very he's downright inspirational in his personal discipline conference. Story about what really made me believe that. He could do this job. Let's hear it. He's doctors bet there's a classical musician. Right away. I related to him. And I heard me planting down the hall as I sat in the waiting room. And I asked one of his fellows if that was a live recording. And he said, no, that's Dr spent where he plays hands loosen to stay in shape, and the dynamics in the sense of touch. Was just absolutely incredible. Incredible. And has a train musician growing up at all in my life. I knew any hands could do it. Those could. Cans were so controlled. Credible. Yes. And he was personally very compelling. Well, yes. Was he one of the pioneers to do this kind of operation? I believe he is the pioneer to do this kind of operation by near. Well, I guess if you're going to do something like this you'd like to be with one who knows the most about it. So. Would be good. Yes. Imagine the nerve to sheer nerve it would take to put a body through that process. Every time. He does it. He lays himself on the on the line. One hundred percent. I bet you had to sign a lot of releases. Pretty good Manny. Yes. Now when you went down there to talk to him. What's your expectation that you were going to have this operation right away? Or did you just think you were going to go see him, and maybe have some tests, and that sort of thing, and then come home, and then maybe come back and have the operation. I mean, it was like the next day. No, I knew that that I was in a very precarious situation. And that a matter of twenty four hours could mean life or death for me so immediately as soon as he could get me in. He did that. And I knew I had no doubt in my mind that I would be putting a mmediately what was the last period of time before the anesthetic hit you that you spent with your husband. Well, he they came into the hall to visit with me for a moment for they will media Larr. And it was just hugs and kisses and see on the other side. That was pretty much. Operation or the other side the other Saudi operate. Another peculiar thing about. This was many members of my family were with me. No one had any doubt in your mind that everything would be fine. Listen, I'm going to ask a lot of questions through this. And if at any time, you don't want to it's too personal. You can tell me to go climate trae. Okay. Well, yes what I'm good at that. Good good. Because I I just you know, what you went through is so incredible that I really want to fully understand it. And and I can only do that by I guess, understanding moods. You're you went I understand. It's really important that somebody go into an operation like this with a lot of confidence a lot of hope a lot of good feelings. And not negatively exactly in fact, I promise doctor spent for that I would work with him one hundred percent. And if he just make sure and get the buy back, I do the rest does he does. He also believe in that a that a positive attitude is really important for a surgical positive result. Does. He certainly does. So that was it. They they rolled you in. And even though you didn't completely understand what they were gonna do. You did. At least understand your heart was gonna come to a stop, right. I've had that that would be a temporary situation. You promised me. Get me back. I believe. I believe and he believed I believed, but still he didn't give you the downside risk. He didn't tell you any anything at all about, you know, when we go into the hospital for tonsilectomy,.
