David Lynch Was an Unusual Choice to Direct the Original "Dune"
"David Lynch, unusual, choice to direct this movie, clearly he was into it four years. It took him to give birth to this. When they gave us when dio De Laurentiis offered this to him, he never read the books. Knew nothing about dune. And he'd only made two movies. I don't know if you're into David Lynch, but let's just read his list of accomplishments. It's interesting. If you go to his IMDb or look up his filmography. Really short in comparison to other directors or producers. He's only got a handful of movies to his credit. First one is the very, very weird, eraserhead, the star of which has a cameo in dune. Then the thing that really bursts him on the international scene amazing movie tough movie to watch with John heard of course is elephant man. And after he makes that black and white movie in the 80s, elephant man, he's offered this, so you're a Hollywood guy, not really an obvious choice, a razor head, elephant man, a Victorian real story, and then this so we'd pick no. Yeah, I don't know. I mean, a lot of it has to do with friendships and what's hot, right? So what probably happened was, you know, elephant man is considered to be a fantastic film. It's considered a classic now. A modern classic. I've never seen it all the way through, actually, because it used to come on TV all the time when I was a kid. I always found it a bit difficult to watch. It's like you said, it's tough. It's a tough, it's tough to watch. So I never sat down and watched it all the way through, even though I knew as a film student, this is one of the great films of all time. I should probably watch this at some point. I never got around to it. So yeah, it's hard for me to judge, but sometimes that just happens where somebody is kind of like the bell of the ball for a little while, right? They're America's sweetheart. And at this point, it must have been David Lynch and somebody's because apparently they were trying to get David Lynch for return of the Jedi. And I'm so happy that he got, you know, got distracted and made this instead because

‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ is a box office smash
"The Super Mario Brothers movie was a big winner with movie audiences in its opening weekend. I'm Archie's are a letter with the latest. All right. That's a car. The Super Mario Brothers movie earned $146.4 million over the weekend, and $204.6 million in its first 5 days of release, according to studio estimates, that's just domestically. Worldwide it's made $377 million beating out frozen two as the top opening for an animated film globally, John Wick chapter four is the number two movie this week in North America, followed by Dungeons and Dragons honor among thieves. Sonny Bunch Discusses Guy Ritchie's "Operation Fortune"
"You got to go to the movies. And the good news is John Wick is back. The bad news is operation fortune has not been much noticed by anyone. Sonny munch is here, the official movie critic of the Hugh Hewitt show. Airline miles rolling downhill towards him faster than boulders in an avalanche. Sunny, I want to talk to you about operation fortune and Guy Ritchie before we go to John Wick. Why didn't no one know that movie was out? It was very entertaining. Well, you know, that movie has had an interesting and kind of cursed release. It was supposed to come out, it was supposed to come out last year. It was supposed to come out more than more than 12 months ago. And it ended up getting kind of caught in the Russia Ukraine news cycle because originally the villain in that movie was a series of Ukrainian gangsters. Oh my gosh. No kidding. Yeah, so it got kind of caught up in that news cycle. The final version, they edited out the Ukrainian gangsters. They changed the villains around a little bit, I think. I don't know if they reshot any of the scenes or if it was just a little bit of sniffing here and there. I mean, I for one really enjoyed operation fortune. Even the fetching misses Hewitt, who generally doesn't, she won't go see John Wick, but because Hugh Grant was it using the Michael Caine access. She wanted to go see it. Yeah, so this is the second movie, I think. That Hugh Grant has done with Guy Ritchie, the first was the gentleman, which came out. A couple of years back. And I feel like Guy Ritchie is kind of unlocked something a little bit different within him. He's not. He's funny and bad. Yeah, no, it's interesting what he's doing. Anyway, I like to operation fortune a lot, but because it got kind of, again, it got wrapped up in all this. And there was also stuff with the distributors so that this movie was financed by a company called STX, which has kind of gone out of business that sold off their interests. So this got bought up by I can't even remember who MGM or somebody.

The treaty is a turning point in a year long effort to bestow order on vast stretches of the planet were conservation was hampered by confusing patchwork of laws. The agreement will create a new body to manage ocean life conservation and establish marine protected areas in ocean regions outside national boundary waters. Raina Lee, UN ambassador for oceans and law of the seas issues, expressed her gratitude at the accomplishment. Good evening. Ladies and gentlemen, the ship has reached the shore. Chris Kohls and Seb on Joanna Cassidy's Performance in 'Blade Runner'
"Think this is maybe her first movie or second movie. I don't know when splash came out. Darrell Hannah, you're talking about this combination of naturalistic. Oh, by the way, the naturalism. I think the best naturalism is when deckard is pretending to be from the confidential committee for moral abuse. He puts on that geeky squeaky voice and he's enjoying Cassidy's dressing room and she's getting naked. Her acting style with him, I mean, that's a real person who's just pissed off and suspicious. That you can't detect any acting there. Joanne Cassidy is just, it's just that, you know, she's in that environment. And she's reacting. And what's weird is that she is actually one of the androids. Yeah, right. But she acts more human than a normal human. You would expect it a movie. So much so that I didn't even I wasn't ready for the moment that she turned out to be an Android. Right. I thought he was going to her to find out who the Android girl is. I didn't realize it was her until she attacked him. And she punches him in the neck or something like that. In the throat. It's so good. Such a good moment. And yeah, and you don't notice it because you're paying attention to something else about her in the very moment that she hits him. So your attention is completely focused on that if you're a guy.

Chris Kohls Reviews the Performances in the Original 'Blade Runner'
"Into Blade Runner, go and see it, I've seen it. It's there, it's real. Let's talk about the rest of the cast Emmett Walsh of Byron James, I think this must have been her first or second movie. You look at Chris and Daryl Hannah as an actor, talk to me about these performances. Yeah, I mean, it's similar to what I said about the last couple of films. There is this sort of cavalier nature to the way that people talk. I know this is kind of supposed to be this stylized film the war, but everything does come across as naturalistic. And in a way that they don't really act and people don't really act this way anymore. And I really loved it. I especially loved when the cop was going through the list of androids that he has to kill. I mean, just the way that he talks about it is I felt like it was like I was really, I was really there. This was a real life thing. These guys are who they are pretending to be. And I don't know, I don't know how they cast this so unbelievably well. Rutger Hauer, how do you tell people, okay, act a little bit unnatural like an Android. But don't overdo it, but don't overdo it. Yeah, yeah, just so subtly that people get the hint that there's something a little bit off. But, you know, and this guy, he was in everything in the 80s, like being a psycho. You know, he pulls off that weird. I think there's something about, in the 1980s, there was something about how they figured out that like, okay, let's cast normal looking folks to be the good guys, and let's cast people that are a bit off looking to be the bad guys. And now it's sort of reversed. They're like, oh, the good guys are all the weird looking folks. And the bad guys are all like the very handsome attractive people. They kind of messed it up in our world. In our current time, Hollywood. I think Harrison Ford, you know, I wouldn't have thought Harrison Ford would be a good choice just because he was so famous from Star Wars. In the glass. I'm sorry. Subtle things. What an amazing moment.

"Craig Lieberman. Almost the entire cast and crew were completely overhauled after just two movies. The idea was not only to grow the universe of the Fast & Furious, but also its audience and there was no better place to tap into an international car culture audience than Japan. So the next movie was going to take place in Tokyo. I mean, that's a very generous generous read. They didn't care about growing the Fast & Furious universe that they just didn't want to pay. They didn't want to pay the actors. They didn't want to pay the owners. That's why the other actors didn't do the second movie because they wouldn't pay them enough and fall. Cared about the franchise to keep growing it. But then for the third movie, they were just like you guys. I think when I was talking to Cody, we did have to spend a whole lot of Paul's brother. We talked to Cody walker about it. And I think Paul, even negotiated, sure, he was asking a fair price because he carried the first two movies, he's the star.

And i don't know how like a high school kid has drones killing people. You know whatever we'll have to wait and see. I guess that was the last movie. Have you seen that was last movie. That was the last movie that was far from home. Wait what they're showing the last movie in this trailer. No because he said he was taught. They're talking about the end of the last movie. Sure yeah i gotcha i gotcha. When he when he tasks edith to take out the guy who's trying to vie for 'em jay's hand you know so of all the spider-man's. I didn't see far from home. Oh you gotta see far from. Oh i love it. Yeah so. I guess that's why i didn't understand what they were talking about there. You go. that's movie called on it. Oh man uh about the kings man. Yes the kings man so we covered this episode. one twenty four so not to year is chicago. Maybe not even we talked about it but this but this is interesting because now we're in a place where these second trailers you know in the typical roll out of something. This probably would have come out last year. You know it would have come out much earlier and it in under under maybe a more fully fox kind of title you know and so you're saying because of cova. Did it got delayed. Because of cova got delayed right and now fox is kind of fully entrenched in in the disney. You know quiver And it's more of a fox studio under the disney brand so it's interesting to see kingsholm the kingsman retain its crudity aid. It's crude this at eight like you expect something. And i you know. And there's no mention of disney in this at all but this is this is a disney property. This will end up out on disney. Plus somehow some way gives new meaning to the to pinocchio when rasputin says what he says about his belly full balls. Md i'm like wow they're still and did you see. Did you see the kingsman. The first two movies. No i have not i have not. Oh man. they're good movies. You should definitely see them. So wait a minute. The kingsman and the kings man are these different movies. So the kingsman is about the secret service in modern time and then kingsman. Two is the sequel. Kid i can i laugh. Yeah i think we had this exact conversation episode. What twenty four. So if you wanna hear. Ted explained all the king's movies goes to that. Because i'm sitting there. I'm like wait a minute episode. Hey it's been it's been forty forty episodes. Yeah four so spending summer vacation our whole month on plus off so yeah yeah hiatus. Talking to year ago so who the hell remembers man. Explain it to me one. More time i was i was doing it quick. Yes so they had to movies. That were run kinda run concurrently one in the sequel and then this is now the prequel so zik kingsman like plural. King apostrophe s emmy n. That's the one that roman wants and we learn very quickly at their bugged big part so they can track 'em the cops came out. What are the cars. Has hater plates. The purple just has a normal the normal license plate. I think i think that roman goes for. He goes for the convertible right. He says to brian. Don't even think about taking the convertible it might loosen. Your moose might loosen your moves. I guess having a convertible top. Brian's hair you know those curls fly free but there's a lot of convertibles in street racing movie and these two streets and they seem like they would go slower just from an arrow dynamics standpoint. I don't know. I also you know. I've been a little critical of the government with regards to how they've been spending their money in these first two movies. How about this. They just completely repossessed these cars that we learned in the first movie are eighty to one hundred thousand dollars and they give them these guys. Okay got these. They're totally conspicuous. Drive them and this is then we get the scene where monica drives with them right She drives with brian and roman. Big deal of that and we get the stair and drive line where he stares at her back to your staring yeah as garters just. Because i guess he's showing that he's he's such a bad ass driver. You don't need to look at the road. Stop sinus anyway. And it's to build the the the this weird relationship whatever the hell. It is between monica and brian that that they share between each other jd. Yeah i guess. I mean again is just sort of it. Seems like they're headed in that direction. But i i never felt that it got paid off. It was never clear to me that they were together or even liked each other and and that whole staring thing you know taking a step back and knowing the paul walker died in a car accident. And i'm not saying that he was reckless about it or whatever. The circumstances of him actually die in a car. Whatever the reasons are these scenes. Make me so uncomfortable. When they're doing these just totally reckless unnecessary. You know foolish stunts. Basically you know it. Just it kind of takes me out of the movie a bit like i get that you know. It's all part of the world and stuff but it's still that part of it was made my palm sweaty like just just look at the roadman dyke added thing so hadn't even thought about that. It's because i thought we all argued like we. We took a lot of backlash after reviewing the first spiderman movie and we had to go on a big high taste. It is a good. I'd have to go back and listen man. Because i middle tasted those in the ant man stuff i i've watched him against sense and i just i don't know they like the least already ready powered movies and then it's just lures and all that exciting and like the stuff they've done with the character in all the other movies besides his own has been more interesting than than there. But maybe that'll be. What the difference between quantum mania in the first two movies are because it seems like it's going to be way more directly tied to the whole picture catalysts. They're using that movie to basically bring in all the shit that we're gonna see afterwards feelings change on stuff but definitely where i sit now is. Those are my two favorite marvel movies. Dan can you believe dude in a fucking in like five days for me man..

"Talking. I have a conversation if that it ends up. Being just rinse layer. We need to go. Find kevin and have talk fisher be like okay the yes. Oh i can't imagine that would be though like there's given that king is coming right one two movies from now one movie from now to i think really what they do that with such a strong comic connection i would like to think no but now that i'm looking back on my well. Tv series kinda ended. Like that. i just. I have more faith for this one. I think to go to go in the direction that we think it should go agreed yes and also knowing go ahead no go for it. I was just gonna say knowing that we have a second season coming. I feel like would implore them to do something a little more dramatic. Yes that makes honor percent sense we've mostly and the other one didn't have closure or needed closure maybe because they hadn't looked a second season specifically right. I will have to say. I'm trying to think if Like strange it could also be one of the people strange in the doctor strange movie. If it's not king. I just think it's carrying because of rensselaer the rensselaer connection. It just makes more sense yet. But i guess it could be. I mean like moebius made that throwaway comment about nightmares and there is a nightmare character. And he was originally rumored to be in Much mccullough in the second doctor strange movie but that was before it switched directors. So i don't know if it's not king i'll say it has to be one of the people that's going to be doctor. Strange one of the villains there. And i'll accept that i can. I can accept that. I cannot accept it being slayer by herself though. So yes yes that would be. I'd be so be so mad. Diplomatic superman extra mad. I'm gonna be so salty. Marmot still mad all mad. Yeah yeah. I will say when i saw like the very beginning when it was obviously sylvie and i was short still be when i first saw her but i was like. Oh i was thinking that like in watching that. It really does kind of confirm that she is for sure not backer to from the comics. That's all. I was thinking when i saw it was like. Oh yeah it was like so. She's clearly her own person she's not a manifestation of him in some contexts heathen create her to be a creature to do his bidding like. It's it seems obvious that she's her own whatever. But then you're kind of like.

Um As you all know, I love The guardians of the Galaxy movies. You do? Yeah. And James Gunn is the writer and the director. And he he picks music. For these movies as he's writing the script, and he writes them into the script to help complement the scenes or the the emotion or whatever it is. And so the first movie was His mom's cassette music mix. And the second movie was also his mom's cassette music mix that she made for him for for Peter. Last night, James Gunn dropped a huge playlist on Spotify. Called MEREDITH Quills, complete awesome mix. That's his mom and his mom. MEREDITH. Yeah, part of the master list of MEREDITH quills favorite songs that I considered. For the first two movies. And he says, I'm not saying that these songs won't appear in the next movie. They might. But these were always, you know, in his orbit when he was writing the scripts. There's more songs than room in the movies. Exactly, And it's a huge playlist, and I was just so happy to get it and I was just kind of playing around with it this morning while we were getting ready. There's some good choices and bad choices because as he said MEREDITH Quill Had mostly.

"They want within that same race group. Both worlds right. That's the idea is that we get the spontaneity the vocal performance and we at least have the idol. I'm hoping mostly emissions context. You know if it's going to be a nighttime scene you know what you need to really animate in detail and what you don't need to intimate details. We can emanate with the context of the performance. And the lighting. Yeah takes out a lot of guesswork. You have a way as a director to communicate to the animator will. Here's an idea right. Here's something that we did. And we shot and i like this part right here at i will. I will tell you that. Story and animation are the places that make stories go from zero to one hundred and and animators to have the full ability to give you that great surprise in the scene that you would never have thought of so. There's no way that story capture supplants the artistic process that the animator brings to it. That can change everything it just gets greater context. Wait i just think. I heard brand new term. The story captured. Did you guys make that up. You can put that on a tee shirt. It's it's what were would as yes. I kind of love that. Oh my gosh you hear that you heard it here first listener and it goes story. Captures change in the world. That's part of the animation revolution. Right there so brad are you. Are you a now. Historically as reading out your credits. Before you've been mostly a producer have done some directing are you the main director at spier and if so d where both caps how do you. How do you like that We we've hired a couple of great producers in company and These are the first. Two movies are stories that i initiated an and wrote And then we've got Some mike surrey. And sean krause are gonna be co directing With me on the first two movies is we've got ted matha dish who future directing for us working on stories to go forward so the idea is really to be more of a repertory. You know group But yeah i will. I will be creative. Leading the first two movies and with china and mike who have you know. They're these guys are ready to direct in. they'll be they'll be there with me all along sky. Wonderful have An inaugural maybe. Pj this is a lot to have to do with you. But did you you know we. I put together all these people that you were looking for. It sounds like brad was one of the first hires. I'm assuming Babies zero was the first higher by brad. How did that work. I mean i you both tell their okay. Good so brandon. I started the company Identified diligence on brad. Answer and just say you know. Maybe this is getting a little inside baseball. But ca did reference checks on us. And i will say brad is probably the only person on the planet who got positive references from katzenberg lassiter At and And jim morris. So basically jim morrison's the doors. Hey sorry he's the head of the studio you're talking about even just katzenberg and lasted earth. Both saying brad's the man i. Yeah that's that's rare and that just the fact that everyone who has ever with him Only says great things. And so. I knew that we're going to start calling j. Jc instead of brad lewis. Say j. j. pj's my biggest fan which is awesome. But the here. It was easy to recruit with brad. Let me just say that but walking on water might be one of the talents that you have right but literally. What's what's been really. Great is a lot of folks joining inspire people. I had opportunity to work with at dreamworks. Pixar warner brothers. And and they're joining studio because we've had great work in experiences together and the dirty little secret about the best animated films is that you have incredibly incredibly talented people. That's round you and make great decisions better decisions than you could ever make on your own and you do that day in and day out and at every level and so we are building spire on those people only taught. Tommy that so you just yeah you get really good people people better than you and rioted credit for their ideas at right now. Right thomas town has done that with me many many times so i totally understand that but yes Yeah great team. Of course. i'm a huge fan of mike surrey. One of my best friends you know. We spent so much time on the lion king working together and just won't tony animated poobah and the lion king and oh thank you. Mike surrey was to moan and shared an office together and they created those performances as a teen. I might his office today and we heard all about it bikes. If you guys were supposed to interview me on their podcast yeah we are we. We said how long w we. We brought that to a lot of people. We'll have some day real soon yet. Just give me a job right. Now and off. The league podcast. That would be a way of getting free lunches and it really hasn't come to fruition. I saw you talked to. Ali and i hired amanda on distorts our first professional teacher and man. I saw that offense that when when that movie came out. I remember her instagram blitz. She showed a lot of storks. And you guys have that cachet to. I mean let's face it you've worked with everybody in the creative world creative universe from all these different studios. Pj also you have done so much in the way. Again the holy ghost working and not getting permission from The heretic who certainly is are harasser. Or whatever you wanna call him steven spielberg. We don't want to get into that because they do a whole show on it But what an interesting A kind of dichotomy there that spielberg in his many public acts of an statements of complete and utter falsehood and nonsense ultimately the no thought that movie goers might want to find a positive treatment of the ark of the cabinet and the holy grail notice which one he got really got much more wrong could be because the one the holy grail was ridiculous because it completely misinterpreted what it meant to have turn alive. "We might have an answer brad. Bennett josh horowitz. Whose reporter for mtv news recently talked to vin diesel in support of the upcoming release of f nine. And because he's big. James cameron fan. He had to ask vin diesel. Whether or not these rumors about him. Potentially being in the avatar sequels were actually true and vin diesel. Despite being an actor is by the way. I just. I just feel as right now. Vin diesel only wants to work with directors than earning james james. Gone james won-. Yeah james cameron. That's true and then we'll just ignore all the other movies that weren't directed by anybody named james just so that we can guess narrative. Well that's his new direction in life. He's found that like great. Success comes when you work with directors names james. We could expand just do director whose name start with j. justin lin. John m not johnnym. Choose what am i thinking of. Never mind okay. I'm sorry. I totally interrupted you. Brad tell us what. yeah so. Vin diesel isn't a good liar even though he's an actor because when he was asked about this he got this giddy childhood grin on his face. That you're like it was clear he couldn't hide anything whatsoever about the question. And so Vin diesel when he was asked if about the rumors. He said that he has spent time with james cameron but he hasn't filmed anything yet And of course yet was the operative word in that sentence. Which josh horwitz Totally honed in on instead. So does that mean. He's going to be shooting something within soon And diesel still smiling and grinning gubert. He said i love. James cameron and i love the series. And i think it's safe to say that we will be working together and he stopped just short of saying on avatar or whatever but if you go watch the video that we have the article you'll see that there's just there's no containing that this is a truth true thing that's happening. I just assumed when he posted this photo way back when that he was on sale. I mean obviously co star from the fast and furious movies. michelle rodriguez. She was in the first avatar movie. Right so i i just assume that was visiting this ad just as like you know just as a visitor but now it appears that maybe he has a role in the avatar sequels. But aren't they done filming avatar sequels. So they're done live action production for avatar to avatar three but as we know there are still plans to do avatar for avatar five. So it's probably safe to assume that he won't be involved in those first two movies and whatever character he's playing will likely be part of those second two movies one or one or the other. Okay now the question comes brad. Do you think he is going to play a a human character. I could totally see him as being one of those like marine kind of characters. But that seems like to obvious to like to pat for a casting for this movie or do you think he's going to be like an actual nov ear. Something i could see him potentially playing a member of the navy. I could also see the possibility of maybe introduce a new alien.

Last year titled stephen herek. Yeah was the director of mr hans opus rate and also directed bill and ted's excellent adventure. Don't tell mom the babysitter's dead mighty ducks three musketeers. Hundred one dalmatians holy man rockstar. The underwear thing is weird because like his first two movies are pretty darn good. It's usually success tremors at least successful enough to have like five see definite and he couldn't find that one thing. Yeah making more tremors movies heart and souls though in other movies just on. Hbo every day for about five years. Mugabe junior is like the spirit who replaces was like heaven can wait relax. Norman this is around a little bit of the picking it but did we need that sequence at the end where the owner of the miami dolphins from spent tourists who is also the ranch owner When he explains that he's selling these cattle. Did he just do we need that. I think that was. I had this later. But i'll just do now. I think that was the birth of veganism that speech. you think. oh yeah bits. Ain't nobody serving low and bobby. Maybe they wrote the first hour and they sold the and they're the hey. what about the last they. I was looking at research. They they famously. They didn't really do like quote research like they wrote it and they've ever been done this and they're like sure that can happen to research what they had other jobs. Laura anne war and like you know in the seventies but although i do given this we'll talk a bit like attempt to age them both or at least the patrick and this movie. It's one of the things in the movie was watching it with the with my with. My kids I said kids. Air belts now But i was pointing out to them. I was like okay a lot of what you see here. The the closed everything or very accurate time period. But not the bodies like like you look at patrick wilson and the son of the warren's and all the dudes they're also buff. Yeah i'm just saying like yeah in the seventies. Nobody was looking like that. No that was actually not even considered attractive. You were something of a freak. If you cross regular dude was like the typical body was either was. I don't know like a little hefty or like rail thin or things like that or just just wasn't that it was just it was just an average people were healthy. Yeah thin healthy and what was considered fat was not even that fat at least not compared to now but just getting muscular like that that would only be an athlete right right now just like i said just a regular joe where if the shirts pinching the arm movies martin gonna watch movie a franchise built around these two no pets not body shoot him in the war of course not of course not but it's this like come on. It's what they do what they do. But no not only is is based around the glass lectures case also the nine thousand nine hundred ninety one arne johnson case where apparently he was possessed by the same spirit. That or demon or ghosts. Or what have you that possessed the smallest member of the family and this caused him to commit murder and it was the first case in. Us history where it was. It was a not guilty plea based around demonic possession and the warrants. Were also involved with that. I mean you gotta give it to him yeah well. They're always putting themselves in the news. That kind of things don't where we're gonna make this work for you guys. I sorta got now the real case. What happened was not spores. I mean this is. This is what legitimate happens that arnie johnson that whole plea deal or plea deal but that that not guilty leader. Yeah you got well. Didn't work didn't work and he went to. He went to prison now for that long. Only five years then he actually is a happy ending for the most part but this this bill does have that spoilage. Chance like no. That wasn't real. That's the press told us the warren's they know what the fuck happened this is their story but i will say much like the get into like the meat of it. I wanna structure this like this where. Hey let's talk about the positives or the things that i thought you really stuck out to me. And we'll go into the more of the things that didn't work and soft and then we'll go back and forth that sure but one of the things. I i've always liked about these films especially the first two movies. And and the controversy films that the warrants appeared is just the chemistry. I think.

If i if i thought of it as scott all this high ball these oscar nominations. Yeah i think. I would have been like really that adult kinda slight But I worked for me there and i just wanted to say about how ends up reaching the universality. I think that's really well And to the point about sort of there's conflict but you're not sure like should you even bad about how it goes. I forget who said it It's something that's in my head which is the most interesting most interesting dramas when both sides or all sides arrive or everyone's right and wrong and there was a nice example of that the conflict bed eventually arises in that gentleman is one where like third. Neither of them are wrong. And it's really you know I think gives the viewer more credit in that way and allows you as of you're more to think about You know how you understand community because in a sense that's what the central conflict becomes so I want to. This is actually a wonderful segue to the next film promising a woman because i think we make conclusively say that promising women is not one of those films where everybody is kind of right Or everybody is come as long so scott. This is the one that you saw. That allies didn't say so one or two ticket. I'm you know obviously I'm a defender. I really in debt like we should start off with. You know it's alike our first two movies. You know there is a bit of a didacticism issue. Especially i thought you know the first. I was really worried after the first kind of bar scene. Which seems really maladroit. Although it's like she's not trying to do realistic dialogue. So i think that it's not quite as you know but it definitely wasn't but it didn't pick up and you can say you know the the the nice guy starke saga consider the lobster as an easy target but the fact is many more movies are made for that guy that are making fun of and i think it was actually quite well done But to be there are also the screenplay had strong points as well subject wise by the gaps. One where sort of the filmmaking porn addict. federal's a really really talented and interesting filmmaker. A movie really had an energy at a very precise aesthetic. That sort of got you through some of like the patch your parts the script. I actually really like a lot of good a mulligan. We'll talk to get to best was was just stunningly good. What was your first impression of this movie as a standalone movie like. I said i hadn't seen the other two. I thought it was really good. I really enjoyed it. I liked it too. But i wrote what i have cared more if i had seen the first two movies yet especially after reading the imdb reviews because there were a lot of people who were upset with this movie. This does seem to be like a well loved trilogy. And i did record the other two but i have not watched them yet. So i could see how you could be invested in this foursome. because i enjoyed them And i wished sean had been there in person. We can talk more about that. But i think that would have brought it all home. So let's jump to what we liked. I have a huge list. All right Okay they're kind of all over the place. It was a beautiful location. They are in the snow in spring. Movie finally right exactly I loved rukia. Bernard has i thought she was a great best friend in this movie She's just bright and lovely and want more from her. But i want her to be a lead in a movie as she's always a sidekick. Yeah but i did think this was a much better role for her than her evergreen character. "I've got a couple of like final thoughts for everyone else. I lisa any thing. You wanna touch on about the phone before we wrap up. And i think that it's interesting when we talk about judy dench in her character on her watch. This is when you see mistakes. Being made by 'em right not with the men who played 'em beforehand but on her watch you seem to have traders on her watch. You seem to have her making mistakes And there's a lot of emphasis of this across her. Tenure and i think it goes back to something that you mentioned before about it being judi dench frigging judi dench. So of course you're going to give her a greater role in the bond films right. You're going to utilize her ability to act in a moat and convey emotion. And i think judy dench whatever she is given tends to do it quite brilliantly but i also part of me thinks. It's a shame that she has to make so many mistakes across her tenure that there's so many traders that you know in the democrat air. There's a whole bunch of stuff that happens where she is under investigation and all of this stuff But i did you know. It's one of those things. Where i think back to the way that she was introduced in goldeneye and your sexist misogynistic dinosaur and you know people call her the evil queen of numbers and fighting back about sarcasm. There's a lot of stuff in the first two movies where i find that. There's like a great strength to her and her fighting innocence. The patriarchal institution that probably in the intelligence agency right and. I'm sure that this is a particular position. Where you had is admirals constantly occupying and performing this role after her it continues back onto in white men occupying this particular place in space and so to see her be in this position in the first few films i was like guess judi dench whereas in this film when i started to see her talking about maternal instincts making mistakes the suggestion with the oxford comment. Maybe she had a relationship with you know Electric king's father and so maybe that lake clouded her judgment. And there's a lot of things along those lines. Yes there moments of redemption with the clock back and being able to do something macgyver style but even just having her standing there after james bond shot her looking surprise but knowing that that's his job and she is his boss like that was the threat..

And i never thought the wasp hive executive four. Got my brain turn in and i was like coochie shrink dying fly inside your deck and buzz internal vibrator because that would have been a cool plotline. If they had done that they shoot your dining. Then she flew inside of next year is day and he's just like a shoe buses up she could have done some amazing things to his prostate. I'm just saying. I honestly. I want to help right the next one. I think honestly that would be a great you know like nice offshoot not impart three necessarily but like post credits scene that they always do in the mc universe where wasp turns into a wasp flies into a stick. They should do that. Why has an impudent axel. Get on that every other fetishes covered. Why not this one. There was a lot of things that i wanted to happen in this film. That didn't happen like the part when spiderman hawkeye etc. Split up. I was really hoping that hawkeye and ms marvel would have sex scene and spiderman would just be havoc solo seat in the other room and we would just see him like in on his own. I was like that would have been amazing. Random solo scene in the film. But not you know it's a it's a straight film. They would never have a random guide. Your cough nope bay. They're very hetero normative for these. Unfortunately we've progressed in porn is when we can get like a straight foam where it's like instead of just a girl solo scene it's a guy doing a solo scene but.

Oh yeah she was but five minutes of that movie yeah. I'm excited for thor love and thunder. I i didn't actually care for the first two movies but ragnarok really rang. Rock was really good. So i'm hoping love and thunder is just as good Guardians of the galaxy. Keep hearing that. They're trying to replace chris. Chris pratt i. i don't understand. i don't know the whole beef with him. The issue is with chris. Pratt is that he's become very religious as of late and he joined the hell song church which is notorious for being anti lgbt q. plus but They deny that but there are many many many people who say the hell sunk.
