A Special Conversation Between Charlie and Dennis Prager

"Dennis, there's so many important things we could talk about, but I do want to focus on your remarkable work on the first 5 books of the Bible, the pentateuch, the books and Moses, the Torah, which I think you understand better than almost any living person on the planet today and how it applies to today's time, which is honestly the most important. But one of the things you talk about that I think can frame this discussion is something I have repeated is the first 11 books of genesis in particular layout distinctions. You were talking about this earlier, which is God created a world where distinctions matter. And since the 1970s, the left has done everything they can to destroy distinctions. Talk about what distinctions God set up in creation and why does it matter? I wrote this first in the 1980s, so this is not new, and I knew then how dangerous the left was the left is the anti Bible. That's what they are. It is the antithesis of the Bible. And I like to share with you, I know you've heard you've heard me and you've read me on this. I'm very flattered. What did God do after creating the world? What did God do the other 6 days? And whether you take day literally or not is of no interest to me, I happen to think it means era because yom in Hebrew means era just as it does in English. If you say in our day, you don't mean today. But it doesn't matter if you take it literally, I don't have a problem with you. But what did God do the other 6 days? What did he do? And the answer is God made order. The left makes disorder. To understand the left you must understand it is a force for chaos. Because it's very hard to understand the left. If you say you were Christian I'm a Jew, so tell me, where do I go to know what you believe? I'd say, yeah, read the Bible. Very simple, okay? Why would you say, what would a left to say, The New York Times? Okay. By the way, that may well be an honest answer that is correct. But they don't know where to send. You because it's not written. It is, it's felt,

Bitcoin at $1,000,000 in 90 Days? The Insane Bet by Balaji Srinivasan

"Bitcoin to $1 million in 90 days? That's what the former CTO of coinbase thinks and more than a few people are taking him seriously. All right Friends, welcome back to another Bitcoin breakdown bite. We are talking about obviously the same thing that everyone is talking about, which, as it turns out, might be the point. That is biology, srinivasan, the former CTO of coinbase, and generally highly regarded if out there sometimes thinker, he has predicted that Bitcoin will go to $1 million inside the next 90 days, largely because of societal collapse on the back of the banking system. So McKenna here sums this up, biology thinks, most banks are insolvent in the U.S., Bitcoin goes to 1 million 90 days, hyperinflation is imminent, converted 99% of net worth to Bitcoin, U.S. Civil War happens, effing wild. All right, so we obviously today are going to get into what exactly biology is talking about and then all the responses and I'll give you a little bit of my take at the end of it. So, a few days ago, biology put up this tweet called the bit signal. He says, how do you ring the fire alarm on the Internet? How do you show it's not a false alarm? I'm putting up the bit signal. Now, this first version of this tweeter, this first tweet was basically a request for people to share the best charts, graphs, statistics that show effectively how screw the current financial system is, the type of thing that biology argues you wouldn't get from normal mainstream media and he was going to give a $1000 in Bitcoin for the best thousand tweets. He is arguing here that the existing system, the central bankers, et cetera, have hid insolvency from us and they're about to print a huge amount of money in order to save themselves from that. And so Bitcoin is likely to be the recipient, but more than just Bitcoin, it's about the underlying story. So that went up on March 16th. Then the next day, on March 17th, someone says, I'll bet anyone $1 million that the U.S. does not enter hyperinflation. James medlock is a neoliberal guy or whatever, I guess he says social Democrat in the streets, market socialists in the sheets. And so he has this bet on Twitter and biology says I will take that bet. You buy one Bitcoin, I will send 1 million USD odds 40 to one odds as Bitcoin is worth about 26 term is 90 days. Blah, blah, blah, blah, and all the terms and stuff. And this just set the Internet on fire.

What Happened, Leftists?

"One of the key planks in the mega platform is anti globalism. But it was the left who invented that movement in the late 1990s, right? One of the key events was the battle in Seattle of 1999, where a large gathering of people protesting the W 20 ended up in a violent clash with local police in a scene that older participants likened it to the 1960s. The protesters were comprised of members of NGOs, along with steel workers, environmentalists, aids activists, farmers, anti capitalists, anarchists, students, and concerned local citizens. Not exactly the cpac set. So what happened leftists? Did you betray your principles or were you always just lying about them? I mean, there's a reason why people claim leftists are always accusing their opponent of what they are guilty of. In their back rooms, they may be laughing among themselves about how easy it was to pull off such a grand deception to those people. But they have yet to grapple with the upshot that no Democrat can ever claim to be grassroots again. Leftists are very upset that the Claremont institute recently released a database of corporate donors to BLM last Tuesday, a clearly reframes even the party's street level activists as little more than globalist corporate pawns. One of the major criticisms of the database is that it includes BLM adjacent organizations, some of which have very little relationship to the communist nonprofit, as donations to BLM itself. But it's clear from the linked evidence that Claremont wasn't playing fast and loose with the associations. There were simply adopting the same logic as BLM's own corporate supporters. Which was also the exact same logic used by none other than The Washington Post when they published in August 2021 article chiding delinquent mega corporations for failing to follow through on their pledges to BLM the year prior.

Caller Is Baffled Over Supporting Parental Rights Bill

"Well, it is an upsetting to me, but my point is that's always been there. I have 6 kids that are all grown adults now. I always went to parents, teachers, conferences, I always knew what they were being taught always, a couple of times I objected like there was a really a diminishment like in teaching evolution and our schools for a short time. And the school board changed. And I thought that so I don't know what. So you don't agree with AOC. It's not fascism because she's calling you a fascist when you were engaged in your kid's education and you knew what your children were. That's fascism? No, no. Hello, you guys. No, right is trying to define something that is should be up to parents. And it's not. You guys are kind of setting them guardrails. And that's not right. I'm totally baffled. You understand that the bill that AOC is objecting to would require the public school districts to disclose their curriculum to the parents. And expect parental consent for participation in student surveys. Do you object to that, Steve? No. You seem confused. Do you seem really baffled here? I mean, you're agreeing with me and your disagreeing with AOC. No, I'm not disagreeing, and I'm not baffled. Okay, well, you think AOC is wrong to call what conservatives and Republicans want as fascism, right? No, no, I'm not saying that at all. What are you saying, Steve? Help me understand what your point is here. My point is that the venue for structuring and guiding student is always been there. It's not just all of a sudden been blown up into some major issue, which doesn't even, Steve,

"You have a background in media And this is a fantastic book because you're not only discussing the problems Chapter after chapter you're telling people you need to do this You need to do that You need to investigate You need to activate You need to understand that there's a media out there You need to prepare for that And this is how you fight the school board and on and on and on So this is not just a book about what's taking place This is a book that's about action orientation correct Yeah that's right And each chapter there are 12 chapters and we structure it so that each chapter is a bit of a strategic philosophical rule that we applied in the situation but is certainly applicable to every school district in the country no matter what you're doing I mean I like to think of this as sun tzu's art of war for parents which of course will get me flagged by Merrick Garland but so be it That's probably already the case The idea Yeah the idea being that you know parents can utilize this not just to look at these strategies or these practical ideas on how to get the message out to the media how to work with reporters how to send freedom of information act requests how to set up an organization legally to make sure you're getting your donations processed properly but also to get them thinking about their own strategies and tactics and to really crowdsource that among the parents of this country because that's what it's going to take It's going to take you know successes and failures and learning from those successes and failures and sharing them with others so that they can replicate what's been done

Are Dems Setting Precedent for Punishing Political Enemies?

"We've laid out here, if you're looking for a crime, the only crime that had been committed, if in fact a crime was committed was a financial misdemeanor. And for that, the district attorney wants to literally handcuff and shackle Donald Trump. Keep in mind, this is a guy who received $1 million from George Soros. This is a man who campaigned on a promise to get Donald Trump. Letitia James, the attorney general of New York. Campaigned on the same promise to get Donald Trump. They have weaponized the judicial system. Look at what's happening in Atlanta, Georgia, where once again you have a George Soros funded district attorney going after president Trump. That one could get very ugly because apparently they're looking at RICO violations. Suggesting that Trump was trying to coerce the Secretary of State and to changing vote totals in the state of Georgia. But really, this is all about stopping Donald Trump and punishing political enemies. And this is why it is incumbent upon every freedom loving American, and even I would appeal to some of you you Democrats out there who still believe in the constitution who still believe in the rule of law, I have to hope and pray there are still some of you out there. And we all need to stand up and say, we're not going to tolerate this. We're not going to allow you to turn our country into some sort of a, of a Soviet style, police state. We're just not going down that path. Am I grave concern is that Republicans are going to return the favor if they ever get back in control of the House and this pardon me of the Senate and The White House? We can not go down this path as a nation. We can not, we can not be jailing our political enemies.

Mike's one of my favorite Twitter followers to make sure to find him on Twitter or you can also subscribe to his substack. Mike, thanks for joining us. Always a pleasure. Thank you. Yeah, so Mike, I wanted to get your reaction to some of the recent kind of rumblings going on with Trump's arrest and also just how do you feel like a lot of the presidential hopefuls and other people responded to the news. Yeah, the Trump arrest was mishandled by everyone, especially I think desantis, which was unfortunate because I expected him to have better political instincts. The big mistake people are making right now is they're seeing it as Trump's arrest. Whereas most of the country doesn't see it as Trump's arrest. They see it as a way to attack all of Trump supporters. As a way to apply it on equal system of law. For example, I bring up your dad's case a lot. A lot of people don't even know about your dad's kids because he handled it with such grace and moved on with his life, but it still actually probably makes me angrier than it makes him, which is wait a minute. After dinesh for helping a friend's campaign and then Rosie O'Donnell says that she deliberately set illegal campaign contributions and brags about it and then nobody goes after Rosie O'Donnell. So is dinesh, did he commit a crime for giving a friend $10,000? Because nobody understood this stuff at the time. Nobody knew you couldn't do. It's silly. Nobody had any idea even. And then to have the full resources of the law brought on him and then of course the FBI file says he was an anti Obama filmmaker and you think, oh, okay, well that was obvious what would happen there. And then meanwhile, you have Rosie O'Donnell saying, oh yeah, I deliberately send too much money. Hoping that they don't send it back. Okay, so she's an admitted admitted campaign contribution fraud. "I really believe in our system. And I know I know that it is not the perfect system. I do not know of a better system on the planet of earth regarding criminal justice, but I know there are plenty of mistakes. I've seen them. I've been involved in them. There are innocent people who get convicted. There are guilty people who are set free. I mean, but this is not how the system is supposed to be used. This is such and I'll use the initials, BS case. Yep. And a prosecutor, unlike a defense attorney, you know, I don't have discretion as a defense attorney. So a guy comes into my office and, you know, he tells me he's guilty. I don't have discretion to go in and turn him in. Like, I'm not allowed to do that. I have to zealously represent my clients if I choose him as a client. No matter what. But a prosecutor has what's called a quasi judicial function. They have like a judge part of their job. Where they are decision makers and in their discretion, they are supposed to decide which cases to bulldoze full steam ahead and other cases to not prosecute at all. And the fact that they're going after not only that you have a rookie DA Alvin brick, okay? He was just so, you know, he was never an assistant district attorney. Unlike Eric Gonzalez in a Manhattan, unlike I'm sorry, Brooklyn, unlike darcel Clark in The Bronx, you know, they were ADA. So they know how the system works from the inside. He was a federal prosecutor, which is a very prestigious thing, but it's a very different thing. Right. He was a state attorney general. Chaos Erupts at the Southern Border

"Breaking today as the Democrats continue trying to put the former president behind bars as there were some kind of, I don't know, banana republic two bit banana republic, we actually have real problems. And they're abhorrent behavior shows they have no real effort underway to actually focus on the problems at hand. I mean, no wonder the country's in such bad shape right now. News today, that authorities confronted 16 people at our border just last month that were on the FBI terror watch list. They were all arrested in the month of February alone. Meanwhile, we had some 150,000 plus crossings. Again, new records being hit almost every month. We are not in good shape and it's very dangerous for our country given the amount of drugs that are coming in. The federal government, meanwhile, spending all kinds of money, millions of dollars to store all that unused border wall material because, oh, that was Trump's idea in Trump's bad and they want him behind bars. That's the reality of the situation. They are playing politics when I think it's really, really important for this nation that we get serious about the real issues at hand. Hello, welcome to the program. I am Trish Regan portions of this show are brought to you by legacy precious metals, go to legacy p.m. investments dot com for more. Again, a 150,000 people apprehended in the month of February alone just wait. Just wait until title 42 gets rolled back. And it's going to be really unmanageable. For more on this worsening crisis, I am joined today by Brandon Judd, president of the border patrol council. And it's good to have you here. Thank you for taking the time, Brennan. Trish anytime, I appreciate you having me. What's it like, really? Right now. Well, unfortunately, I live this nightmare every single day. My agents and I, we have to deal with something that this administration could get under control tomorrow if they wanted to. But we have seen time and time again that they just have no political will. They pander to their open border activists. If you look at the west wing, it's filled with activists. And when you have government that is filled with activists, you can expect to see the chaos that we're experiencing on the border and it's a completely unfortunate because it puts American lives at danger at risk. And we could save all those American lives if it wasn't for the unfortunate policies programs and operations that they've taken away from us. They're just not giving us what's necessary to be able to do the job. You know, it really shows you how politics gets in the way. Over and over and over again. So instead of doing what's right, one protecting our country too, protecting these people from the predators that they are so vulnerable to right now. Instead of doing what's right, we're doing what they think is going to play in Peoria. They think that this is going to resonate with their base. If you ask me, it's the most inhumane way of approaching this challenge. The only thing that they care about is a reelection. That's it. And if they think that what they're doing is going to get people to the ballot box, they're going to do it. And that's what we see time and time again. Politics seems to have taken a front seat to what's best for the United States. What's best for our U.S. citizens as long as they think that they're going to be able to remain in power. You know, a lot of this is like, well, you know, it's Texas's problem. You know, let them deal with it in Texas. But now we're seeing that even the mayor of New York is like, wow, wow, wow, wow wait a second. This is Gaston us a lot of money here too, because they've been bused up to New York. More of the vineyard, I think, exposed a lot of the not in my backyard, kind of sentiment. Look, it is a problem there in Texas. It's a problem for any of these border states, but let's not forget we're a federal system. Doesn't the entire federal government have to take responsibility here? How is it fair to put it all on a few states that happen to be physically located at that border? Well, the Supreme Court actually ruled that the federal government is responsible for immigration. The states can't step in and they can't enact laws that would allow them to expel or deport individuals to cross our borders illegally. That was already tested in the state of Arizona when they passed SB ten 70 and the Supreme Court shot that law down. So if you look at this when you look at everything that is going on, if it's not the federal government that steps to the plate, if it's not them that does their job, then all of this is going to continue to happen. We're going to continue to set records. We're going to continue to have deaths on the border. We're going to continue to have more fentanyl coming into the United States than we've ever seen before. We're going to continue to release more people into the United States. When you look at right now, we have released into the United States in the last two years, 4.5 million people have been rewarded for violating our laws. Across the border, illegally and got released in the United States. And then you add on top of that, the 1.2 million people that were able to cross the border illegally and evade apprehension. We've added more than 5 million people to our population just in the last two years alone. And these people entered the country illegally, and they were rewarded for their illegal acts. Look, and I'm not going to say that all people that come here illegally are bad. It's not true. There's plenty of good ones. But you go through the rap sheets, right? And you see a lot of people that happen to be here illegally. And it's so sad for the victims of those crimes because they don't deserve that. The one thing that a country ought to be able to do is know and control who is in it. And by the way, we're not outliers here like, well, we're an outlier and that we let everybody in. I mean, every other country in the world, it's not like I can go show up in Mexico and just hang out for the rest of my life. That wouldn't fly. Why are we allowing it here? Yeah, Trish. And we're not trying to disparage people that cross the borders illegally by any stretch of the imagination. What we want is we want the rule of law to be upheld. And if the rule of law is upheld, we stop all of the deaths. We stop these migrants from putting theirselves in the hands of these dangerous criminal cartels. Yes, there are a lot of people that cross our borders illegally that are good people, but they still violated the law. And unless there's accountability for violating the law, we're going to continue to encourage it. And that's what we have to do. When you listen to this administration and they talk about that they want an orderly and humane immigration system. What they've given us is the exact opposite. It's not orderly and it absolutely is not humane, especially when you look at all of the deaths. When you look at the children that are abused by these criminal organizations, these cartels, they're raped at times they're murdered. They are physically abused all the time, and we see it. And we have to deal with that. The agents on the frontline constantly have to deal with everything that we see every single day and we know that it's simply driven by policy. Yeah, you know, and there's a lot of unintended consequences. The last thinks they're being so wonderful.

"You? I had sticker shock too. You know, I had heard in the days leading up to Max Scherzer signing with the New York mets that he had three times 43 on the table. And there's a natural skepticism when the previous record average annual value for a contract is $36 million for Garrett Cole that somebody is going to jump 20% in one fell swoop, even on a shorter term deal. But there are a couple of factors in play here that are important. Number one Max Scherzer has always liked to be a guy who sets records, and he likes to set records because, well, he's a competitor, but beyond that, he's also one of the very influential aid executive subcommittee members for the Major League Baseball Players Association. And if you go back and look at the history of the MLBPA, the idea is always push the salary envelope higher because the second that a guy has a $43 million base salary, someone who's better than him can say, well, I deserve 43 million. Do I not? Jacob de Graham. If he opts out from the mets next season, can say, I deserve 45 million if I stayed healthy and pitched to my capabilities this year. And the whole idea of this happening against the backdrop of this impending labor doom that we've been talking about for so long really is kind of rich. And Marcus simeons and other guy who's on that executive subcommittee, he gets 7 years and a $175 million from the Texas Rangers. So these guys are walking in to this potential lockout with a whole lot of money waiting for them on the other side. Yeah, so let's get to the rangers then because Marcus Simeon, you know, the short stop they added, who will likely play second for them, you know, it's not just him. It's Corey Seager Jeff. The former Dodgers shortstop who got ten years 325 $1 million. They also added for, you know, good measure, a new starting pitcher in John gray, but this is over half a $1 billion. In free agency already. And what does that tell you about what the rangers are going for now? Yeah, it's over half a $1 billion spent by a team that went 60 and 102 in 2021. A team that if you look up and down their roster, there's not a whole lot there that you think might be around still in a few years. They bought a core. They bought the best middle infield in baseball. And it cost them a lot of money. But the rangers understood something. In order to have relevance, you need to have guys that others want to play with. It ties together so nicely with everything that's going on right now in the labor world. We have to flash back to the 1970s and understand that guys like Andy messersmith and Dave mcnally and Kurt flood the standard bears in the Major League Baseball Players Association. Looked at free agency as Valhalla. They looked at free agency as this saying that was not going to just change the economics of sports, but change sports forever. So a team like the Texas Rangers who stunk last year and who had very little hope going forward unless they complemented what they have down in their farm system now, could suddenly become relevant in one fell swoop with the signing of a check. So tracing the history of baseball free agency does not normally take me to Detroit, Jeff, but hobby Baez, signing a 6 year $140 million contract with the tigers. I mean, now I know a guy on the tigers who's not named Miguel Cabrera. Is this the Marlins game two? You got in trouble last time you played this Pablo. I'm still in trouble. I'm still banned. I'm still banned from that very strange ballpark, yes. Derek Jeter has been on a poster. Yeah, do not allow this podcaster. Inside these gates. The Detroit tigers like the Texas Rangers are seeking relevance and they're a little bit closer to it because they've got this core of pitching with Casey mize who was the number one pick in the draft a few years ago with Matt matting and with Tariq skubal. And now signing Eduardo Rodriguez this off season. So they've got four good young pitchers there. They've got two prospects in Spencer torkelson, who's likely going to end up at first base and Riley green, who may be a center Fielder, but could move to a corner. They needed to add to their position player cash because they're very much in the same boat in that respect as the Texas Rangers where you look up and down their lineup and you're not sure who's going to be here a couple of years down the road. So when you look down the list of starting pitchers beyond Max Scherzer, Jeff, and here I'm talking about Kevin gausman who goes from the Giants to the Blue Jays for 5 years, a $110 million, and then you get to Robbie ray, the guy who won the AL Cy Young, who leaves Toronto for Seattle for 5 years, a $115 million. I mean, these numbers are eye opening. They're staggering they're the kind of numbers that might cause fans to wonder. Are these contracts deserved? Of course it's deserved. And it's deserved because it's what they got. And that sounds very simple, right? But when it comes to baseball, for the longest time the union has believed that worshiped at the altar of the free market. And the free market to me is what differentiates baseball. In the NBA, if you have certain credentials, you are going to get a specific amount of money. It does not matter if you are Giannis attempt to kumpo or Russell Westbrook, you're going to get paid around the same. Major League Baseball does not have that. Your market is what you make of it and what teams are willing to pay you. And so if Kevin gausman is getting a $110 million from the Toronto Blue Jays, then, well, I'm sorry to say, but he earned it. If Robbie ray coming off a Cy Young is getting a 115 from the Seattle Mariners, that is what the market gave him. And so if Major League Baseball revenues weren't where they are. If projections.

"Last 15 minutes, Novak Djokovic has just beaten Italian Matthew Bertini in four sets softer, shaky start where he lost the first set. Djokovic seldom gave his opportunity opponent an opportunity after the match, he said. It was the best three sets he played so far at the tournament 52 years ago. Today, Rod Labor was the last man to win all four Grand Slams in a calendar year, and Djokovic is on course to repeat that. Will play. Alexander's parents in the semi final of the four seed swept aside South Africa's Lloyd Harris in straight sets in football. Lots of European World Cup qualifiers. Italy became the first international side to go 37 games on beaten to five nil win over Lithuania. England considered a last minute equaliser way of Poland to draw one hurricane, opening the scoring with a fantastic long range effort. "Let's tap in now. With Tom Van Haren. He covers college football and recruiting, playing some double duty covering some golf this weekend at the Rocket Mortgage Classic as well for ESPN. Here to talk a little bit about the name, image and likeness ruling that came down on July 1st time. I want to start with the with what student athletes are able to actually endorse because certain schools like BYU basically says, if it's anything controversial, or Guess what they would deem inappropriate. No way Your student athletes can't do it and then other places are a little bit more lenient on it, but it feels like it's something that's going to be incredibly difficult to police. That is the law and the institutions themselves. How are they going to approach this? When you know it, become it ventures into alcohol or tobacco or any of those products is their rules in place right now that would prevent student athletes from being able to sign sponsorship deals with controversial and then air quotes, type companies. Yeah, well, I think the problem with this is that there isn't one set of universal rules for everybody. It's you have the has given some guidelines. Uh, and part of the guidelines were that the schools could really make up the rules as they go. So you have different rules from different schools. And then you also have some states that have come up with different rules themselves as well. So If your student athlete, I mean, you really got to do your due diligence and if you're compliant in the compliance department, you've got your hands full because 18 to 21 year old kids being approached by companies and and people with money. The natural instinct is that they're going to want to sign with them. And so I think it's going to be up to the schools as you mentioned like BYU, Um it's going to be up to the schools of what they want to allow, and and really what they want to let their athletes promote. And I think part of that is The A lot of the schools have partnered with some of these the creative agencies or marketing agencies. There's open doors. There's influencer J one s And I think they they brought those companies on for education and to help monitor and help with the logistical side of that, to really make sure that the student athletes aren't getting themselves into bad deals, and they're not getting themselves tied up with maybe a company that they even Outside of alcohol or anything, just maybe a company that they shouldn't associate with. So I really I think those agencies are going to help with that and help police that a little bit. Right, so I'm very cynical about all this. I mean, I think this is awesome. What should have happened a long time ago. But I also think I mean, basically, they've just made cheating, illegal or excuse me cheating legal because here's how I think this is going to help you tell me if I'm wrong. I think what's going to happen is a lot of these college towns. Will be local boosters or businessman who will sign these athletes to deals that make no financial sense, but it really just a way to reward them or get people to come play there. I could see it Alabama or Auburn. 10 local boosters. They basically put all of the players on endorsement deals just as a way to sort of reward them for playing for ST You. That's what I think is going to happen. Am I too cynical? Or does that kind of how this is going to end up? I don't think you're too cynical, but I think you're looking at it the wrong way, because that's already happening. And there are schools that are not participating in that. And so what? How I view it is You're you're actually opening it up for some of the schools that have been following the rules that now maybe they can have a shot at some of these prospects that are going elsewhere that are enticed by extracurriculars. Eight years if you have a smaller school that isn't paying players paying recruits. Now, maybe they could get a guy that they weren't going to get in the past that you can convince that kid and say, Hey, you can come here. If this is the school that you want to play for, But maybe in the past, you would have chosen a different school for other reasons. Now you can come here and you can make money and you can eat will help. You will help give you opportunities and we'll get those opportunities for you. And I think I want to be careful with how I say this because I don't want to mischaracterize it. But I do think that that's going to help some of the smaller schools. It's not going to close the gap in recruiting. It's not going to. It's not going to bring Alabama down a notch. They're still going to get great recruits. But I do think you're going to open up opportunities for some other schools that maybe didn't have them in the past. And so I I actually see this as a positive. I think it's a good thing. Because you're you're allowing some schools to get on a level playing field with some of the other schools that weren't following the rules. Spain and fits on ESPN Radio. Tom Van Heron covers college football and recruiting for ESPN and joins us via the Goodyear Hotline. This is not the same thing as players being paid. I think that that's one for the average fan who doesn't understand the differentiation between name, image and likeness and student athletes being able to cash in on that this is not the same as such and such student athletes going to this university and getting paid. For his or her services to whichever team now I'm wondering, though our teams are schools allowed to arrange these sort of opportunities to sort of serve as a recruiting tool may be a way to help a student athlete in their decision of like, Yeah, you come here. You're going to have something already lined up for you. Is that in play for institutions? No, there is and that's a great point that you made. It's not pay for play, and so it's. It's not meant to be a way to tell recruits say We're going to have this company lined up for you and they're going to you can line up in a row and they're going to hand cash out to you. If you come here will make sure that you get cash. It's not meant to be that it's it's meant to The the recruiting pitch that schools are giving right now is to show the student athletes to show that perspective. Student athletes what the opportunities could be if they come here because within the rules, the prospects or the players are supposed to set up. Their own deals. It's supposed to be outside of the name, image and likeness of the school. So if there is a player that goes to Texas, he can't sign a deal and run an endorsement or run a promotion that says it's Running back so and so from Texas. It's just his name. You can include the school name, So, uh, the pitch from all these schools is really If you come here, there's going to be an opportunity. Will help facilitate the education will help facilitate some of the logistics and financial part of it, But you have to go up and set your own deals, and I think I actually wrote a story about this. I think some of the schools are using that to their advantage right now wisely. A school like USC there in the Los Angeles There are so many opportunities in Los Angeles, and Spencer Harris, the personnel director there at USC told me he's telling parents and recruits right now. Why do you think LeBron James came to Los Angeles for his last act? Why do you think he chose this place?.

"Thrilled to have right here on my latest episode of just getting started gentleman who i've been a big fan of and i haven't spoken to in a few years when he appeared kind enough on my daily rich eisen show his new film or it's films space in between which had some theatrical run back in april is in a video on demand near you on june fifteenth and the god committee is coming to theaters on july. The second just one of the many projects in the world of calcutta here. I'm just getting started. Hawaii kelsey in our. I am better for chat with you. It is great to see you this pod. I started just a few months ago. When we were really thick in the throes of covid nineteen and thick in the throes of one. We might just get back to reality in helping people maybe get started with their lives their careers their stories because everybody has an origin story. And i'm curious about yours how you just got started kelsey grammar. All i was a grandson. God was kind of an oil executive who raised me. My my dad khan disappeared. Pretty early on i. Through my childhood. I was kind of a navy man of end in military. I am. I gonna academy goal annapolis stuff and gordon. He died when i was twelve. And that kind of just short circuited the whole plan. That i said they ended up of really ball in literature shakespeare. Some of the great novels end. I started thinking well most of a military i am the else. Somewhere around seventh grade A new guy came to school to teach was acquired director. These said you come into my office tomorrow. Audition every boy. The school year later rolled these these five or six different groups. I ended up being part of a group called the singing pines. Okay we sort of touchy does and the girls wore sort of formal dresses. We all sang the different clubs around fort lauderdale area for the bridge club or for whatever event after that came school. Said i'd like to play for at that time. I thought is acting pretty cool. He'll try this amendment junior year. In addition i heard julia was his school. She promoted coppola around the country. Juilliard and i thought well better go there so that that's a good start right there. But why were you wanting to be when you went to juilliard. Who was there. Was there anybody that we know of that. We're classmates was was pretty tight felt. Aren't you know as as as different levels of success in different groups. Different times sir. Christopher rabies their christmas. I of the bunch of kind of really take off. I'm arose talking on phone to christine. Griffith was remain a fantastic young actress at the time. I haven't heard myrtle time either. But she is great and we were just talking guest one. Chris is going to be superman. Lot holy smokes. I was just the greatest greatest thing you know you go at this kind of career couple of ways you can be negative about it. The negative out of the people upset one other people have good good locker. Whatever good fortune but i was figured that if the people close to you are recipients who could fortune. Your turn is on the next robin williams. Robin took off. You know morgan indian. All that stuff started happening Another few years down rhode island. It's shakespeare things that i really loved. San diego went back to new york after that year. So into that something just came in. This wants to come in and read for a lotta chains. Be flinch very good things together later. I love you raisins. they draws way. I love a voice. Oh so you get a phone call. eighty one. And this is joe nate honesty and that was cheers before we get to that phone call and what it led to. You know when people think of juilliard they do think of shakespeare it. They don't think of superman or mork. And mindy or frazier crane. So were you thinking that though were did you have to. Adjust your your sights or anything like that. Based on on circumstances is very good question. I was thinking just theater and most Classrooms here. That's what i mean. The greatest writer volta where. We're foolish to forget that. I know there's a little bit of movement cosstalk teaching shapes no idea why anyone speaking with not wanna stay shakespeare out. I had a child. I eldest daughter spencer. Who is an actress herself now but it was when she was about three months old house walking across park wrapped up in mind shearson Over coach look better. Get a real job. I didn't mean. I didn't mean like a straight job. I met an acting job at paid bright place. If i have one of those television. It's i went to the place where i was staying at the time of my old. Buddy gregory brown. We were sharing her department. I'm watching tv or the first time in my life practically and he said up to what's going on. I think. I just need to wash until you get a tv job. Aren't you listen. i think so. That's kind of. It's right and so again before we get to that to. What was robin williams. Like as a classmate fantastic guy always always on but he was constantly doing material whether or not it was practiced or not. I doubt it was. He just had that same us as always and always hysterical. Funny a about me to take care just kept talking. And it wasn't funny at the moment it would be any mid so if he's going to get their extraordinary guy and i remember very last. Meeting was just on the red carpet. Golden vote since the last time. It's on what was weird. Because i think that was the night i won the award for boss tom. Canes issue is that he had lewy body of course later they found. That's what robbins suffered by the now obscure weird lonely disease but we hit because it was so obscure thought rates like you know meters running device for the show boss. It just seemed like a painfully lesson. He was one of the race. He certainly was no doubt about it. We had you know. Bob sagging on as well and he was telling stories about robin williams and just being you know at the the launching pad of so many careers whatnot and it's just fascinating here. Who was in your juilliard class. And you know. Obviously we're what pads you all took. We other actors frank. Conroy will quite a few things. Eight expires was there which was really great david star when the first day while the first couple weeks at school david stiers came to a visit and started talking. We started chatting lo bit he said. Are you eating. And i looked pretty skinny time and i said well not really owned by there. So he bought me jenner. It was just terrific. Because i was having a pretty pretty rough time with. Tom and his kindness was always a very much appreciate and then twenty years later. He's a guest on frazier before that he was Winchester on on mash. So i'm wondering. Did juilliard have a class on how to play fastidious people who occasionally became across the smartest person in the room. Rub people wrong way a little bit.

"Which is the very lead form and this misuse of this idea of black extremist terrorism which isn't even a thing and yet it became quantified or codified In some documents and even was removed from federal documents because it was not a thing it has trickled down into local law enforcement. So basically this. That's just another example of how Disinformation warfare can enter the government itself. So first of all there has to be a sort of de biasing of american law enforcement. There has to be a recognition that the internet and how it's regulated or not regulated plays into it and they're also has to be support for all of the courageous people. There are courageous. People white and non white across america across the world. Who are saying we will not put up with this and they need to be backed up. They need to be supported. they need to be protected. Okay so let's look ahead to next week you've got an impeachment trial looming Starting on the ninth of february and and it's looking like We're already getting a sense. For where republicans. may come down on this Farai i want to start with you and ask about what you're looking for in in the second impeachment trial and what you think maybe different. Oh my gosh. where do we even start. I mean you know we could start with mitch mcconnell. Who was forward it until he was against it until he was four. Sort of against it. I mean mitch is in the driver's seat. You know america's his maserati right now in terms of how he does or doesn't interact with his fellow. Republicans in the senate you know. It's a very difficult situation. Because a lot of republicans feel threatened by some of their own constituents who are such supporters of former president trump That they are willing to go up against their own. Legislators and some of them are willing to do it in ways that include domestic terrorism threats to families. So we have to remember and this doesn't change the fundamental math but it changes how we can understand it some republican lawmakers are scared of their own constituents and they're scared of what will happen if they vote for impeachment and i believe that that affected the impeachment vote in the house and it will affect the vote in the senate jess. I wonder if you can help folks listening understand. Just why should why. Average americans should even care about this impeachment trial. I mean the biggest one for me is that it matters the impeachment matters because if he does get impeach for the second time he's in eligible to run for office again. The other reason that this is important is that there are still a bunch of trump light type politicians in congress right now so marjorie taylor green absolutely one of them josh hawley. Of course you have ted cruz of the newly elected congressmen cawthorn and all of them. Need a very clear rebuke of trump. Ism in behaviors. If we don't have that you know. I think it's not just trump. We should be worried about. It's all of this kind of class of trump politicians that absolutely follow in his footsteps. And that would be a major problem. So just you definitely make a good case for why. Americans should be tuned in to the second impeachment trial. We will definitely stay tuned here but this seems like a good place to end for now. So let's do it again next guests. Okay i'll be here and see light for all. It's always great to be with you erin. That.

"Incentive to actually have children is pretty pretty bad at a time where you don't know where your next paycheck is coming from or the stability of all sorts of things and so the united states believe it or not actually Does need children and families. You know. Many countries in europe and asia are experiencing below replacement birth rates which then ends up affecting the economy and the us as complicated as we are as a nation as an economy has benefited from having A higher birth rate. So there's there's all these structural issues but then just speaking as a woman who is Someone without kids who wanted to have kids. I waited a long time. Because i wasn't sure if i could afford a family and i may still adopt at some point but i think a lot of us whether we have kids or not have paid a price for the way that america deals with parenting and deals with the economics of parenting. Not just women but men and so. I do think that anything we can do to stabilize. How parents are treated as workers in america and as caregivers in america will be positive. We'll speaking of people at work but headed in a totally different direction The arrest of dozens of suspects involved in the attack on the capital have reveal that an alarming number of police. Officers in servicemen are participated in that insurrection and that has led people of color in the ranks to start speaking more openly about their experiences. I wanna go to clip naveh black. Fbi agent talking to tremaine. Lee host of msnbc's podcast into america. I have to say this that you know working in local law enforcement. I worked with guys that were all due. Respect probably card-carrying clan members. When they were off duty we were on duty. We did it we had to do when i was off duty. They just for people that i didn't associate with so there not more talks about vetting. You saw the department of homeland security know. Put out a warning this week about the continued threat of domestic terrorism in white supremacy in this country now weeks into the aftermath of the events of january six. But we're already learning how widespread this movement is and how global it is right. As specifically in germany they had similar scenes play out last august with radical extremists storm in the federal parliament. Building in berlin These groups are actually watching each other's tactics across the globe and they're learning from each other's mistakes and gearing up to get even more organized for future similar attacks. I mean ferrall. Let me come to you and ask what can be done to address this How can the us under president biden really take the lead in curbing global extremism. There's a lot of different ducks that have to be lined up in a row. One of the first things that has to happen is happening that the us is finally Wrapping its brain around the fact that this cannot be a kind of Unstated fact it. There's been so much deliberate. De-emphasis of white lead extremist movements as the key drivers of domestic terrorism. And in that same incredible episode with trae mainly of the podcast into america the agent talks about how during the trump administration there was a diminishment of a focus on white domestic terrorism..

We think immediately. I think if i said draw picture of who's on the school to prison pipeline It would be a boy of color. Momo girls are getting on that pipeline an exponential matter but the fact is i want to flesh out the ecosystem of what happens to kids a to look especially girls and the first place i win. The girls will get a lot out of it. But what do you want to get out of it. You know For me the most important thing is that. I'm changing my process. So that i will not be just doing interviews. But one of the ways that i'm gonna learn about these. Young ladies is by creating performance workshops and having performance the way that i learn about these young ladies lives. And that's the newest thing about what i'm doing. I absolutely love that. And i had been to a number of different types of performances that incorporate teens and give them a chance to reflect on different aspects of their lives even as. They're acting out things that they may not have come up with. There's always a self that shines through and you are someone who can be really prodian in how you embodied people. But i saw you know both sides of the argument about whether we should take a vaccine or not. "I mean i think we're going to have to continue to do more. It's really in a who do people trust when they're thinking about a recommendation for vaccination. Fortunately most people continue to still trust physicians in a recommendation. But not everybody and then how do we then engage those who are the trusted voices and sometimes it is community leaders and so i think it's a matter of trying to anchor and make sure we can do that together. In a way that's impactful and meaningful and culturally relevant as you mentioned. There's been a lot of talk. In communities where people have disabilities or chronic illnesses about what their priority is. And from what i understand and please correct me if i'm wrong. That the rollout varies from state to state in who's considered a priority population. How should You know people with chronic illness or disability begin to think through how their state is treating this. Because i've i've definitely seen some some concern. Yes so at least from the advisory committee on unionisation practices. We had a recognized early on number one that we wanted to vaccinate everyone who Who was at high risk for both infection or a severe disease or death and that has always been a priority or a goal but also we recognize that we would not have enough doses in the early months of the vaccination program to be able to vaccinate everybody we would want to and so i think One of the challenges has been that those national recommendations were meant to be tailored at the state level. So we wanted to ensure. The states had flexibility Challenge being that. When there is flexibility there is variability. there's there's variability sometimes that creates confusion particularly live close to a border or state line. So how do we address the variability again. I am hopeful that in the coming week or weeks that there will be a more coordination and more of a national conversation about we need to anchor in a higher level of coordination across states to minimize variability can help us as a nation. Reduce the confusion that we're seeing about one of my eligible and why is so and so eligible in state a whereas i'm in state being not eligible. I think that is the most challenging thing for me personally to address for my patients families is coming through but i am extremely optimistic that if we can get the supply we need we are going to be able to deliver vaccines to as many people as need them either. Because of risk infection Severe conditions or hopefully entire population. And that we can protect the population quickly that we can really conquer this together..
