A highlight from Day 3 The Thrones St. Michael and the Holy Angels Novena Discerning Hearts Catholic Podcasts

"A novena to St. Michael and the holy angels. O God, come to my assistance. O Lord, make haste to help me. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and never shall be, world without end. Amen. Day 3. The Celestial Choir of Thrones. The Thrones belong to the first and highest triad of the heavenly host, standing just below the Seraphim and the Cherubim. This position makes them some of the most powerful angels in the service of the Lord. According to St. Thomas Aquinas, the Thrones have the task of pondering the disposition of divine judgments, meaning that they carry out or fulfill the divine justice of the Lord. Like their counterparts in the first angelic triad, they come the closest of all angels to spiritual perfection and emanate the light of God with mirror -like goodness. They are, despite their greatness, intensely humble, an attribute that permits them to dispense justice with their perfect objectivity and without fear of pride or ambition. Because they are the living symbols of God's justice and authority, they are called thrones. By the intercession of St. Michael and the Celestial Choir of Thrones, may the Lord infuse into our hearts a true and sincere spirit of humility. Amen. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. O glorious Prince St. Michael, chief and commander of the heavenly hosts, guardian of souls, vanquisher of rebel spirits, servant in the house of the divine king, and our admirable conductor, thou who dost shine with excellence in superhuman virtue, thou shaif to deliver us from all evil, who turn to thee with confidence, and enable us by thy gracious protection to serve God more and more faithfully every day. Pray for us, O glorious St. Michael, Prince of the Church of Jesus Christ, that we may be made worthy of his promises. Almighty and everlasting God, who by a prodigy of goodness and a merciful desire for the salvation of all men, hast appointed the most glorious archangel St. Michael, Prince of thy church, make us worthy, we beseech thee, to be delivered from all our enemies, that none of them may harass us at the hour of death, but that we may be conducted by him into the august presence of thy divine majesty. This we beg through the merits of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Amen.

And yes, equities, but it's really because of what's going on in terms of the inflation picture and really the interest rate picture. Yeah, with that in mind, a lot of focus on the Fed and the rate picture today, including what former St. Louis Fed President Jim Bullard says the Fed may still need to do. Is that does that have something to do with today's moves, Carol? I don't know. I just I woke up to that news.

"A novena to St. Michael and the Holy Angels. O God, come to my assistance. O Lord, make haste to help me. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and never shall be, world without end. Amen. Day 5. The Celestial Choir of Virtues. The Virtues specifically preside over the elements of the world in the process of celestial life. Thus, all heavenly bodies, from the stars and planets to the galaxies themselves, are kept in their divinely appointed routes and progress. On earth, the Virtues maintain a watch over nature, marking and guiding every facet of St. Thomas Aquinas in his Summa Theologica noted that virtues are in charge of miracles. As if these duties were not enough, the Virtues also assist humanity by bestowing grace and valor within the mortal heart. They give encouragement to the human to turn always to the good and help bolster the person's will to endure hardship and suffering and to have the personal strength to turn ever toward God. As the angels, in charge of miracles, they receive their orders from the powers, but they also are connected closely to the saints. By the intercession of St. Michael and the Celestial Choir of Virtues, may the Lord preserve us from evil and suffer us not to fall into temptation. Amen. Day-6-St.-Michael-Holy-Angels-Novena

"A novena to St. Michael and the Holy Angels. O God, come to my assistance. O Lord, make haste to help me. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and never shall be, world without end. Amen. Day 6 The Celestial Choir of Powers The powers have the task of defeating the efforts of the demons in overthrowing the world and are declared the awesome defenders of the cosmos against all evil and the maintainers of all cosmic order and equilibrium. They are the guardians of the heavenly paths, policing the routes to and from heaven to the earth, which means that they concern themselves as well with all humanity. The great harmonizers, they assist each soul to overcome the temptations placed before it to do evil and to lean instead toward the proper action, which is to love and worship God. By the intercession of St. Michael and the Celestial Choir of Powers, may the Lord vouch save to protect our souls against the snares and temptations of the devil. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Thanks, and God bless. Part 3, Chapter 39 of the Introduction to the Devout Life by St. Francis de Sales. This is a Discerning Hearts recording read by Corey Webb. Chapter 39 The Sanctity of the Marriage Bed. The marriage bed should be undefiled as the Apostle tells us, for example pure, as it was when it was first instituted in the earthly paradise, wherein no unruly desires or impure thought might enter. All that is merely earthly must be treated as means to fulfill the end God sets before His creatures. Therefore, we eat in order to preserve life, moderately, voluntarily, and without seeking an undue, unworthy satisfaction therefrom. The time is short, says St. Paul, it remains that both they that have wives be as though they had not, and they that use this world as not abusing it. Let everyone, then, use this world according to his vocation, but so as not to entangle himself with its love, that he may be as free and ready to serve God as though he used it not. St. Augustine says that it is the great fault of men to want to enjoy things which they are only meant to use, and to use those which they are only meant to enjoy. We ought to enjoy spiritual things and only use those which are material, but when we turn the use of these latter into enjoyment, the reasonable soul becomes degraded to a mere brutish level.

A highlight from Ep379: The 5 Fs Podcasters Shouldn't Neglect - Jerry Dugan

"Be consistent with who you're speaking to, what you're posting off. Still show yourself and be a guest on other shows, especially if the show is like yours, because those listeners will also want more and more variety and they'll come to you for that. Most hosts never achieved the results they hoped for. They're falling short on listenership and monetization, meaning their message isn't being heard and their show ends up costing them money. This podcast was created to help you grow your listenership and make money while you're at it. Get ready to take notes. Here's your host, Adam Adams. What's up, podcaster. It's your host, Adam Adams. And today I'm joined with Jerry Dugan from Beyond the Rut. And Jerry's passionate about supporting business leaders, helping them with different things like work -life balance. So one of the questions that I'm going to ask, does work -life balance even exist? Because I'll tell you it's very polarized. On one end, everybody's like, you have to balance, you have to balance. And then I read this other book that said, no, it's not balanced. It's switch tasking. You go here all the way, then you go here all the way. And then there's other people that say you have to be out of balance for a certain amount of time. So I'm really curious just to start there. Jerry Beyond the Rut supports people with a life worth living in faith, family, and career. So a lot of the listeners that you have are probably around my age and your age that are probably struggling with the work -life balance and making sure that they are putting enough to their faith and their family and their career. And I love that. I want to ask, why do you think work -life balance is real? And what have the other people said? Yes, ultimately, I think they're all saying the same thing. Like if you really break down to what, like, even the folks that say there's no such thing as work -life balance, what they're ultimately saying is like, we make life choices based on our priorities. And when I talk about work -life balance, I'm saying the same thing. One of my hope is that when you're on your deathbed, I already know you're not going to say, man, I wish I did one more launch of my program or man, I wish I was at inbox zero more days in my life. You're going to say things more like, I wish I had one more day to spend with my grandkids and my great grandchildren. I would have loved to have been there for my daughter's wedding or for my son's wedding, whatever it is. And in serving in combat and knowing some folks who worked in hospice care, that is the thing that they hear over and over again, that people wish they had more time to be with the people they love and on the flip side, when they have the people they love, they wish they succeeded more in their career. And so it's like, what if you could win in all of that? What if you could take your career as far as you can and not sacrifice your family at the same time? And so you look at what's important to you and how are your current activities impacting those areas of your life? How are you doing with your family life? You know, okay, work's taking a lot out of me. Okay. Is that a permanent thing or is this a temporary thing? If it's temporary, then you talk it over with your partner and you decide from there, like, okay, yeah, this is temporary. What's the deadline? What does success look like? And what's the bailout trigger that says, all right, we're not hitting these measures doesn't look like we will let's scrap that and go another direction. So that to me, that is why I'm a big fan of work -life balance. It's not just strictly. I spend so many hours at work, so many hours at home. It really is. How is getting out early impacting all the things? Am I going to miss my children's big school events? What's that impact if I do? And what's the message I send? Because I'll tell you from personal experience, I was a lot of kids, superheroes, because I would volunteer my kids' school for a day and their dad had to go to work and it's not the same thing against their dad, because why did the dad go to work? Because he wanted to provide for his family. And so the motivation for a good thing for the family was there, but there wasn't that balance to, I also want to communicate to my child that my child is important. I want to communicate to my partner that she's important. And so it's, how do you win at all those things? And how do you find the right company that will support you as a person while also supporting you and your career growth and getting you to perform well to help the company also succeed? It's like, there's a way to find all that. I want to hear a tip or two. And I'm thinking you and I talked a little bit about this before we first press record. You were talking about the checkbox and a lot of us, we got a checklist and we're checking off all the boxes and it's seems like we're checking off all the boxes. It feels like when we look at the checklist, it's pretty much full, but we might not feel fulfilled even at the expense of checking off lots of boxes. So if that's us, we're listening and we're trying to think of what is it that we think we've had success on paper, but we don't really feel it. We don't really feel like we're everywhere we need to do. What's one or two tips for the listener to be able to feel like they're doing the right thing right now? I think the first thing is you got to know who you are and that's the big broad umbrella piece of advice. Know who you are, what is valuable to you? Like, what do you believe in? What do you not believe in? It's if you believe in respecting the dignity of every person, then that is key. If you value time with family, then your calendar should reflect that. If you value being a supportive person for your family, does that go beyond just monetary support? And so knowing your values, I think is very huge. What is your vision, your purpose in life? I have a couple of mottos I live by. One is the Dugan crest motto. So somebody around the 1500s and it's a miracle that the Dugans are still around because apparently these guys called the Saxons came into like Ireland and almost wiped us all out, but like good Irish people, we stuck around. And so that's not important. The important thing is somebody added to the family crest. Oh man, it's by virtue and valor. So for Tute et valore, and it sounds cooler when it's Latin. I hope I said it right. So that's one thing I live by is am I living my life according to my family's crest motto, am I living by virtue? Am I living by valor being courageous to do what's right when even nobody's looking. But then from there, I had a vision that I wanted my children to live a life that was better than mine, but also be set up to be better adults than I was to have better successes than I did to know who they are and to feel comfortable pursuing their own dreams. Like that's in a written vision that I have tucked away on Evernote somewhere. So you got to have something like that. Like, what do you stand for? What is life like for you when you die? And I love talking about these things called the five Fs, your faith, your family, your fitness, your finances, and your own future growth or possibilities. Like looking at your life through those lenses, what does success look like for you? So I guess that's the second one is defining a second, Jerry. I missed an F F that I got faith. I got family. I got finances. I got fitness. And what did I miss? Emily, faith, finances, and fitness, future possibilities, future possibilities, always growing to be better today than you were yesterday. And then what's that future state of yourself you'd like to become. And so being a constant learner is that future possibilities. One reading books that are outside your usual norm, listening to podcasts that are outside your norm, being open to ideas that are not typically in your bucket or wheelhouse either a, to see how your own ideas and beliefs stack up, because sometimes like I myself had gone through life and realized, oh wow, I held onto this belief and I met three people who completely challenged that is my belief wrong or is it just not as strong as I thought it was, is there more context? I needed to add. And, and so sometimes I realized I was completely wrong about something. And other times I realized, oh, I was missing a lot of context here. I believe this, but only in this context, because I also believe this and my belief should not undermine somebody else's right to be who they are. And so it's like, oh yeah, okay. I can wrap my head around that. And I can be a decent person in my community that way. And so that, yeah, the future possibility is that a bit more unpacked, I should have put that in. Have you ever heard of, I think it's Gino Wickman and I hope I'm not wrong. And he wrote like three books. One was like, I'm going to just type in Gino Wickman. This is going to be the easy way. Then I'll sound so smart instead of dumb Gino Wick man. All right. So he wrote three books. Yes. Yes. What the heck is E O S he wrote traction and he wrote what it's not showing me the last one traction, what the heck is EOS and there's another one called rocket fuel. Okay. So these three books are interesting and it kind of is what you're talking about, but in more of a business category. And so I think this is really great to extract it and bring us to the listener in rocket fuel, what the heck is EOS and traction, ultimately what Gino Wickman talks about is your business should have a culture or have values that you all live by. And so it's interesting because when we look at all of the things that we can value, let's just pretend that I don't know the number. I'm just going to say that it's 20 values. There's 20 things that are good. And most people would agree with 18 or 19 of them. So one would be honesty, but at what expense are we going to be rude and honest? Another one might be politeness. Another one might be doing the right thing. Even when it hurts, you kind of mentioned your integrity. Even when people are not looking, am I going to be doing this with my family crest and everything? So the Gino Wickman also talks about like all of these things that we can value. And most of them are important to everyone. Honesty, of course, that sounds right, but not everybody puts that at the top of their value. Maybe they put discretion, maybe they put kindness above it, or maybe they put honesty above kindness and et cetera, et cetera, they might put doing the right thing, even when it hurts as one of the top values. And so in RocketFuel and EOS and Traction, Gino talks about how we need to build our team, our company culture around where all of us agree on these main values. Like we value making money, we value serving the client, we value X, Y, or Z. All of them are good, but which one is in the hierarchy? And so when I'm hearing you, you basically gave me two things. The first one is you got to know who you are. You got to know your culture. You got to know your values. What do you believe in? And you talked about by virtue and valor. What do you believe in? What matters to you? And then you focus on it and you bring people along. And the second one is a written vision. Like you actually write down the vision where you put in faith, family, finances, fitness, and future possibilities, and you figure out how are you doing these? How does this work for you? And you write it down because everybody's vision, like a fingerprint has to be different. Everybody's culture or their values have to be a little bit different, how they put them. And for you, you're saying a way that you can check off the boxes is to just know exactly what the heck the boxes are in the first place. Know which things matter to you and get rid of the rest. So you can really focus on those. And I thought that was really interesting because not only can we do it in our business, we can do it on our podcast. And as you've illustrated, we can do it with our family, with our own lives, our personal lives. So I thought that was really, really beautiful. I appreciate you going into that before we move on to anything, something that I missed or something else you want to share about being able to check off those boxes and feel really good about it, even that person who might be listening might feel like it looks like they're checked off, but they don't feel completely fulfilled. Yeah. Similarly to how business, they have their strategic plan that pushes them and they make big decisions off of that. Does this activity support the strategic initiative of this organization? And the answer is yes, they keep pushing forward with some adjustments. If it doesn't, they're like, well, then why are we doing that? Let's cut that out and let's restructure and reorganize. And it's cool to see that there are these business and even podcasting principles and practices that help us create a better podcast, create a better business, and we don't realize how easily we can just transfer those same skill sets into our very lives. And so it's the same thing. You know, how many people do we know who are physicians who hate being a physician? I can think of two or three or somebody who became a lawyer because the money was good and they quit being a lawyer because they realized that wasn't fulfilling for them or me, I left my corporate job because I realized I didn't want to start all over again and build something that belonged to somebody else and it was time to go after my dreams. So even my mom like kept encouraging me to become a doctor. I was a pre -med student. I'm not a doctor now because I did not do well as a pre -med student, but I realized later on it's because that was never my dream. That was my mom's dream. She wanted me to be a doctor. She wanted to be able to live vicariously through me and what she wanted success to be, and once I realized, Oh gosh, I don't want to be a doctor. What do I want to be? Of course, now it took a 10 year journey for me to realize what I did want to be, but I got there, man. That's that's important. So anyway, that was it. Yeah. You're willing to walk away from something really good stuff. I want to move into just your podcast journey now for the listener. I'll point out a couple of things that I'm seeing with your podcast. Hey, I think it, haven't you been doing it for like eight years? Yeah, this particular year, eight years. Yeah. Amazing. So with eight years, over 400 episodes and a lot of traction, not going back to Gina Wickman, a lot of traction on your podcast success, I think that we've got a couple of listeners that haven't quite been doing it for eight years, they may have been doing it for a year or two, they're new. And they would like to have the type of success that you've got with your podcast. So I'm like to get a couple of takeaways, what you've done, what you've learned, what you would do differently. First, a quick word from our sponsor, but when we get back, I really want you to focus on what made your podcast successful so that the listeners podcasts can also be successful. We'll be right back. And we've talked a little bit about work -life balance, helping leaders with work -life balance, making sure that you're checking all the boxes and feeling fulfilled and the five F's and his family crest, which I don't even remember what it said in Latin. I think it was Latin, but it really means by virtue and valor. And I wanted to talk about now, how is his podcast so fricking well known and he's doing a great job. He's getting a lot of success through the podcast. And hopefully you'll be able to take away a couple of things that can support you in a successful podcast as well. Jerry, what do you think made your podcast? Yeah, a lot of what I'm seeing really is in the last year, year and a half, really. So I jokingly tell folks, but I'm not joking that it seems like I did year one, seven times, and then finally I had year eight happen all at once. So it's no overnight success kind of thing. I think the first thing that really helped was when there was a team of three of us. So we started off with three of us. We all agreed on one thing other than the name of the show. And that was the avatar of the show. So we have an avatar that we named AJ. He's 35 years old, married to his college sweetheart. He has two kids that they both have together. One's in elementary school. One's in middle school. AJ has a mid -level leadership career going on with a corporation in a metro area. And got the car, got the house, got the six figure income, but feels stuck in life. And so from there, we start to unravel how AJ feels stuck. There's the commute to work. There's the no real future in the job he's in. Not really making any progress. Wants to be a good family man when he gets home, but he's just drained of energy. And this cycle is putting a strain on his marriage. The kids feel like he doesn't love him, which is so far from the truth. So how does AJ live the life that he really wanted to live in his faith, in his family, in his fitness, finances, and his future? And so that's what we did when we came together to start the show. Now where we had a lot of weak spots, and I feel we did the first seven years over and over again, was that when you listened to the early episodes, we were all over the place, we didn't really stick to that mantra. Like what does AJ really need? And I hate to say it, but it wasn't until like the other two guys quit from the show that I realized, Oh, we're so far from what we wanted to do, who we wanted to help. And so how do I get there? And so year six, really going into year seven was how do I niche this down? I worked with a couple of different groups that really helped me start to niche that down. Jerry, you're helping specifically this demographic. You're helping them specifically with things like work -life balance and really having a mapped out future or a vision for their future focus on that. Okay. What kind of guests should I have? And so this kind of leads into the second one, which was that pairing down that niching down. So the first one was having that vision of who I wanted to help. The second one was really paring down and niching down. How am I going to help AJ? And once I started to see that a bunch of doors opened up and the third thing was I needed to get the word out there. So the marketing piece, I threw stuff out there for the first seven years, but really it's in this last year that I've been more intentional about it. The posts that I put out there on social media are aimed at AJ. The shows I appear on are aimed at AJ and you know, as that guest appearance on other shows, I think so far in the last 10 months, I've been on almost 70 other podcasts and to the point where now I'm starting to feel like I'm in alternate realities down. Like, how do I know Adam Adams? Oh yeah, I was on his show. All right, there we go. We talked about this, this, and this, or how do I know, Deirdre? Oh yeah, I'm here, here and here. It's just all that starting to overlap. But anyway, those would be the big three is know who you're serving. The second thing is truly niche down. Even if you have a lot of passions, interests, try to stick to one thing and just kind of lit little dose of yourself, sprinkle into your episodes. That way people know what they're getting when they come to your show. And then the third thing, I know I just said it. Marketing.

Day 2 The Cherubim St.

Amen. Day 2. The Celestial Choir of cherubim. The cherubim are some of the most powerful and awe -inspiring of all angels, standing below only the seraphim in direct closeness to God. They, thus, are second only to their Seraphic brethren in the degree to which they emanate the love of God and possess knowledge and wisdom. Their illuminative knowledge and wisdom are thus so great as to be utterly incomprehensible to the mortal mind, blinding the blessed human who has the honor of actually beholding them in this world. By the intercession of St. Michael and the Celestial Choir of cherubim, may the Lord vouchsafe to grant us grace to leave the ways of wickedness to run in the paths of Christian perfection. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen. O glorious Prince St. Michael, chief and commander of the heavenly hosts, guardian of souls, vanquisher of rebel spirits, servant in the house of the Divine King, and our admirable conductor, thou who dost shine with excellence in superhuman virtue, vouchsafe to deliver us from all evil, who turn to thee with confidence, and enable us by thy gracious protection to serve God more and more faithfully every day. Amen. Copyright © 2020 Mooji Media Ltd. All Rights Reserved.

A highlight from Larry Taunton

"Folks, welcome to the Eric Metaxas show, sponsored by Legacy Precious Metals. There's never been a better time to invest in precious metals. Visit legacy PM investments dot com. That's legacy PM investments dot com. Hey, you have you checked your bucket list lately? Are you ready to take care of item number seven? Listening to the Eric Metaxas show? Well, welcome. Tune in and then move on to item number eight. Skydiving with Chuck Schumer and AOC. Here now is Mr. Completed my bucket list at age 12. Eric Metaxas. Hey there, folks, welcome to the program. Today is Tuesday, September 19th. Exciting stuff. First of all, in a moment, we're going to talk about John Fetterman's clothing choices and how the world is going to hell at the speed of light. That's number one. Number two, we're going to talk to our friend Larry Taunton about everything else in the world and how things are going to hell at the speed of light. Larry Taunton, of course, dear friend. So he's my guest in our one in our two. We talked to another friend, Rosaria Butterfield. She has a book out. I have a copy here. Five lies of our anti -Christian age. She is amazing. We're going to have an hour with her today. That's our two. And then I'm going to get another hour with her, which will play another time because she's just extraordinary. So lots more to say on many other subjects. Tonight, we have a special Socrates in the city patrons dinner here in New York City. I want to talk about that another time. We're launching some very exciting Socrates initiatives, brand new, exciting. But so that's that's the setup. But we have our fashion expert, O .W. Root. He's a fashion blogger, culture critic. O .W. Root, welcome back. Thanks for having me. OK, what do we make of the unbelievably slovenly John Fetterman, who is somehow a United States senator dressing the way he does and not just that, but the headline is somehow maybe you know more about this than I do. The Senate, in a nod to the devil in hell, has said we're going to relax our clothing standards and we're going to let you wear a hoodie in the Senate. It's like we're making this up. What do you think of the situation? There's two things that come to mind when I think about this. First is the unbelievable hubris that exists in Fetterman. I mean, think of the hubris that it takes to serve as a senator in the United States of America, the most powerful empire on Earth, and essentially refuse to meet the basic standards of decorum and then force essentially a tyranny of the unreasonable, force them to relax their standards just for you. Think of the level of selfish hubris that exists there. And next, when we see this, it is a physical representation of the degeneration that we see everywhere. Our clothes reflect civilization and they reflect the health of our civilization. What the does clothing of John Fetterman again? Not some random guy on the street. He's a senator, United States of America, most powerful empire on Earth. And this is what he wears. And this is what they have changed the rules to allow. It is a sign of degeneration. Do we know why they changed the rules? I mean, the whole thing, I guess I haven't looked into it. So I'm not I'm not really clear on why they did that. Well, I know this. I believe that there is a rule that you can't vote unless you are wearing a suit. And he would vote from the corridor or something. Yeah, believe it or not. So he would sort of stick his head in and vote. So this is something like a high schooler. This was something a high schooler would do. You know, someone is like, I'm here, I'm here for class. Right now. And maybe they changed it for that reason. Maybe this reflects a bigger trend, honestly, toward the generation and collapse, because you've seen the adoption of tennis shoes. You've seen some of these senators that are pushing for sneakers to be allowed. Have you I don't know if you've seen these news articles, but there are more senators and politicians who are they've had these articles written about how great sneakers are and how we need to bring them into. The government. Yeah, yeah. I'm sure George Washington, if he could have would have worn would have worn sneakers, it's obvious that he would have worn red, you know, high tops, canvas high tops. No. Now, what's interesting to me about this? And by the way, people want to find you. They can go to necktie salvage dot com o w route at necktie salvage dot com. But we're talking about bigger issues, obviously. It's not about what one wears as much as what does it mean? What is what does it mean when a building is ugly? You know, is that just a architecture thing or does it touch the soul one way or the other? You could talk about brutalist architecture and how it seems to make us feel small and insignificant. There's other architecture. You look at it. It ennobles you. It inspires you. It's beautiful. Clothing is the is the same thing. And we talked about this last time you were on that, you know, since the 60s, there's been this it's almost like this kind of false egalitarianism, this idea that, oh, we don't want to make people feel bad who can't afford to dress well. So we're all going to dress like bums in solidarity with them. Now, the irony is that if you look at pictures from the past, every poor person, you see pictures in Harlem. Everybody is wearing a coat and tie, has tremendous dignity and took pride somehow in looking dignified and adult. And that's really what is happening to me. It's always it's a biblical issue in the sense that, you know, the head becomes the tail, the tail becomes the head. You no longer have this this order. In a sense, you have to say like, oh, we want adults to dress like kids because Federman, he's just like a sloppy kid. I mean, kids wouldn't dress like that years ago. But the point is that now it's like, I don't know, he has so much money and has so much white guilt that he wants to dress like what in his mind somebody would wear, you know, in the inner city. I don't know what's going on there, but it's something to do with that. We want to show solidarity with those who don't, you know, have the ability to. In other words, it's it's not logical, but that seems to be what's behind it. Absolutely. And this it reminds you of. Let's bring it back to those pictures you mentioned. You go back to the 30s, 20s, 40s. You could be destitute and you are you see guys wearing a coat tie. And there is a sense of ascendant dignity there. It's lifting up the impoverished, lifting up the common man because clothes represent him in a higher image. So what does it mean now in our decadence and in John Fetterman's decadence in our? We have so much money, he has so much money, and so he chooses to go down, he chooses to bring it down. Like you said, this false egalitarianism and go down and down. And it's not a shock that when you see those old photos, when things were really tough, times were tough, times were hard. But there was this need to reaffirm one's dignity through the difficulties. But for John Fetterman, there are no difficulties. In fact, he has made he's essentially forced the Senate to compromise to him. And so he has no difficulties. And so he doesn't need to reaffirm any dignity because he can dress like child. a And again, my son doesn't even dress like that. My son doesn't wear hoodies. My son doesn't wear a graphic T -shirts he wears. If I had a son who dressed like that, I'd put a beating on him. No, it's kind of it's kind of interesting. It's very interesting. It's a larger conversation. We don't have time right now, but we have to have it. But because I know that there are probably many men listening to this program right now who say, well, you know, Eric O .W., I don't know, I don't know. I don't like to I don't like to get dressed up. I don't like to I get that. Now, there's there's a there's another conversation there about the whole thing, because I really think what's happened is this used to be so normal that you didn't really have to think about it. Everybody had a certain kind of clothing. You just put it on like a uniform. You didn't have to think of it. I kind of have that. You know, I kind of a couple of jackets. It's not like I got to go, oh, what am I going to do? What? And I think that's part of what's happened is that we have we we no longer know how to dress. We don't know what is the formula. What is the it used to be a basic thing. Kids, young boys would wear shorts, not long pants. At a certain age, you dress like a man. You'd wear long pants and a coat and tie. Kind of a basic thing. Policemen wear a uniform. A nurse would wear uniform, doctor or uniform, white, whatever. All of that stuff was part of the culture. It's gone out of the culture. And now we're sort of confused. And so a lot of people in their confusion, they throw up their hands, they put on a hoodie and they vote in the Senate. We're at a time. Oh, W. Root, thanks for coming on necktie salvage dot com. Coming up, Larry Taunton. And after that, Rosaria Butterfield, folks, don't go away.

A highlight from OUTCAST by Gloria Giorno

"Seek and Destroy that has been the theme of discussions of truth now for well I'm in my seventh season here and we started the show on Wynwood radio in Miami 2016 is when I agreed to do the show with them aired the first episode January of 2017 this is Ian Trottier here and today we are going to start talking if you are not familiar with the name Charlotte Iserbit she passed away about a year and a half ago she's a former advisor to the Department of Education under Ronald Reagan her story is very interesting and captivating because she talks about having received a list of these Skull and Bones members via mail that was sent to her father who was a Skull and Bones member at Yale and Anthony Sutton was hot on that trail so two names that you should familiarize yourself with and that is Charlotte Charlotte's work and that is the deliberate dumbing down of America she talks about the invasion of the American education system and that having been formalized under Jimmy Carter back in 1979 Department of Education so she talks about that through her book and then also what I was talking about was Anthony Sutton calling her being hot basically on the trail of dissecting the corruption that is it's really manipulation because Ella Hugh Yale was a major stockholder a main president of the British East Indies trading company that is a Rothschild controlled trading company and the Rothschild funded the American Revolution so I may be off here ladies and gentlemen but if you look at the flag that was flown above the John Paul Jones excuse me the USS Alfred commandeered by John Paul Jones on the Delaware that basically started the American Revolution that flag is basically identical to the British East Indies company flag and then that you trace that and you go back to Cambridge Massachusetts and something called the flag committee which is Continental Congress approved Washington Franklin adopted what became the first flag of the United what became known as the United States and that was the US Grand Union flag which as being designed by Betsy Ross that is the US Grand Union flag which is identical to the British East Indies company flag because that is where the financing came to fund Washington's army and then you ask well wait a second that's English and well yeah this it is English but it's not English because London the city of London is not technically part of England it is its own banking it's sovereign nation a Roman banking colony still in existence these are all facts and you can cross -check them but anyway so seek and destroy corruption that is how I that is that is how I theme my discussions my conversations my talks it's what I do in Trottier with discussions truth today we're gonna talk about the Department of Education rather the state of the education system in the United States so quickly before we bring the guests on we'll be we'll be talking to Gloria Giorno and her son Stevie and getting their view as conservatives what it's been like for Stevie to go through I think it's Belmont University as a conservative so without further ado thanks for tuning in for the podcast on and we're bringing on Gloria and Stevie right now calling Laurie and Stevie this is Ian Trottier for Discussions of Truth Gloria hi nice to meet meet you and welcome to Discussions of Truth I've looked at some of the work that you're you've excellent hi Stevie so thanks for for joining the the the show and please give listeners an introduction to who you are Gloria you can start tell listeners who you are what you what you do and then and then Stevie you can do the same please I try to destroy a young conservative and I also did a nonprofit the name of it is United Women Foundation what we do is mentor employ aid and young conservative women who are in Stevie's situation and we also give out scholarships to conservatives who are not in need of a scholarship but who are conservatives and who are promoting the conservative agenda in their lives thank you Gloria and that's United Women Foundation calm I'll go ahead and put a link to that in the episode Stevie go ahead and introduce yourself for us please well thank you very much for having us on my name is Stevie Giorno and I serve as the chairman of the Tennessee Young Republicans and I am the former student body president at Belmont University where I was attacked by the radical left for being proud of my country and being proud to be an American on the 4th of July in 2020 during the as a mother for protecting your your family and your country I've looked at the website I've looked a little bit about both of you and what's interesting is you have been you've come my way and your stories come my way through a contact there in Florida and your Stevie your story is daughter went through something very similar and in her university classes but Stevie go ahead and tell us a little bit about about what you experienced you were the student body president at Belmont University yet you were attacked for your political views isn't that right picture of myself in front of the White House and I captioned it that I was proud to be an American and I thanked those who had sacrificed and served so that we may have the freedoms and liberties that our forefathers intended for us and within 24 hours my fraternity was blackmailing me threatening to label me a racist and remove me from the fraternity there were hundreds of comments on my Instagram post and there were hundreds of signatures on a change .org petition that sought to remove me as the duly elected student body president even though I was elected unanimously with almost 99 98 % of the vote and so it was really bad that students friends of mine my fraternity brothers wanted to attack me because I was proud to be from this country you know my grandparents escaped from communism in Yugoslavia and my mother lived there for a year so I've heard the first -hand horrors of what happens in a communist country and I fear that our country is headed that way every single day. Now what's interesting is one of the articles that I that I went through briefly was is written by Campus Reform it's published on an online newsletter called Campus Reform and one of the stories that they have today actually talks about glorifying Che you Guevara know this is a this is a socialist figure that that helped with the with the cubist Cuban communist revolution and Fidel Castro you're you're talking about your family having come from communist Yugoslavia are you seeing are you seeing Stevie in in in in your experience on on campus now I don't know what you're doing now maybe you graduated you can bring us up to date with where you at right now but are you seeing some of these same the same signs that that perhaps your mother or your grandparents were talking about that were that were red flags for for communism growing within the country are you seeing that experiencing that I do and I think unfortunately it is getting worse specifically at Belmont University they refused the school is refusing to allow a turning point USA chapter on campus I think it it's it's it's awful it's an infringement on our First Amendment right to freedom of speech and freedom of belief to protest to assemble and so it's really unfortunate what's going on with with colleges and universities I graduated in the spring of 2021 but I have heard of the horror stories happening at private Christian schools so -called Christian schools happening across the country and until students and parents and grandparents begin to see what is happening you know the first step to solving a problem is acknowledging it exists and it's there and it's not going to get better until enough conservative students and parents realize that they need to stop funding the indoctrination machines of universities and change course well it's very brave of you to say that glory I want want to get your your view and and and I want to first first say this I opened this show up before I brought you on with talking about somebody named Charlotte Iserbyt and I'm happy to send you her link to her book it's called the deliberate dumbing down of America what she did was she started dissecting what was happening under the Reagan administration with the attack on the indoctrination that we're seeing fruits of today a few decades later but Gloria did you did you ever expect or suspect that something like this might happen to your son I I he gets into college were there any anything anything happening up to that time where he's now the student body president of Belmont University anything before that that you were that you questioned well you know hey they he might he might need to defend himself or was this a complete surprise to you it was a complete surprise there was absolutely nothing the handbook the literature the online documentation about Belmont University everything fit a conservative Christian agenda there was nothing I mean personally I think it's a bait and switch but there was absolutely nothing I was friends with some of the professors who are conservatives at Belmont or who were conservatives at Belmont and we had spoken for two years before Stevie made the decision to go there and no there was not any kind of indication that anything like this would happen now we would never allowed our son to want to go to a school where he would have been threatened for his beliefs I mean he had been working for Republican candidates since he was 17 years old so it was out in the open it's on his LinkedIn it's public so no I mean we we were told on every tour we were told at every meeting that this was a fully free campus there would be no harassment it was Christian it was conservative and I read the handbook and Stevie followed all the guidelines when these things did start to occur he did follow all the guidelines he followed all the rules he turned everything into administration and they did nothing absolutely nothing and Stevie yeah go ahead to this day they have not responded in any way shape or form nothing and this has been three years now so you have not gotten a formal response from the school administration Stevie you're simply in DC taking a photograph outside the White House expressing your gratitude for the country and the values that it stands for did you ever suspect this type of backlash coming from the because he knew that if he spoke out against them that they would send him to a camp where he'd never be heard from again and really that whole year of 2020 was either you agree with everything we're saying you endorse the BLM organization but we're gonna do everything we can to destroy you and in fact because Tennessee is a single -party consent state that means you can record conversations with only one person knowing I did record those conversations with my fraternity which my mom put into her book and in those conversations my fellow friends my fraternity brothers say if you do not apologize for your post if you do not endorse this group we're gonna do whatever it takes to destroy you and your career and your reputation so it's a more mild form of what happens in communist countries but because these students were not held accountable it is only going to get worse and worse and it did I mean there was one instance where a female student who worked at a fast -food restaurant I would go to for my breakfast in the mornings she admitted in the official College Democrat group text that she was putting quote gross stuff in my drinks every single day because I was a an awful conservative who loved this country and one endorsed the BLM organization and the school guess what the school did when I turned her in what did they do they accepted her into Belmont law school you gotta be kidding me I'm serious 100 % she was rewarded for attacking a political opponent and I think that's dangerous as we see what's going on with President Trump he is being attacked because he's leading in the polls and it's truly unfortunate that we're becoming a banana republic yeah did the did she make you sick with whatever she put in the drinks and we couldn't even get the Nashville police who are unfortunately very short staff due to the liberal City Council and the liberal mayor at the time unfortunately they were they were unable to investigate it because I was perfectly fine thankfully but they said since there was no lasting issues that they refused to investigate and then the school accepted this girl into law school with full knowledge of everything she had done struck so it it shows the systemic problem we're having and imagine if this is happening in a conservative Christian private university in Nashville Tennessee one of the most conservative states imagine what's going on in all 49 other states we don't have the ability to record conversations and to take screenshots of texts and emails and and have such transparency I mean it's terrifying to think what's happening in these other colleges yeah very well said Stevie tell us about that book and tell us about how tell us about how it's been received my husband and I we want to speak out on this we want people to know I need parents and grandparents to know what their children and yes very teen but there still are children what they face and what they are up against when they go away to school we need for parents to fight back we need for parents to take a stand if 40 % of students stopped attending their respective universities you know that the agenda at universities with administration would change so we as conservatives we have that title of being silent majority because usually we are silent well Stevie and I wanted to change that hence the book I use I feel that the book is an educational tool for parents learn from what happened to my son learn from the experience that we've had we went to this university many times it's not far from our home we investigated it we knew people who worked there who taught there and never once did we feel that it was going to be a threat to our son and look what happened so whatever you're seeing I dread to think what's going on at public schools I just dread but I want parents to learn learn read the book you'll see everything is documented in there as my son said fortunately we're able to record and we're able to use everything for information but we need for parents to be more active in their students and their children's educations even when they are at college because they are all indoctrination facilities I did live in a communist country I went to first grade in Zagreb which was then Yugoslavia in 1972 and I can tell you that on my way to school my walk to school every morning I had 1 ,000 US dollars in my backpack I knew if civil unrest broke out at the age of six I knew how to get out of Yugoslavia get into a cab that was waiting for me at the end of the hill and that cab driver would take me to the border of Yugoslavia in Italy where one of my aunts would meet me and my parents would come when they were able I also knew the police officer on the corner he wasn't there for me he wasn't there to make sure that I'd be safe or anybody else he was definitely there to protect the communist regime and Josip Tito who was the dictator at the time and the parallels that I saw with what I experienced living in a communist country and what my son endured at Belmont University it's there if it's clear as day and I want to enlighten everyone who wants to hear from me I want all parents to know this is happening in our country now too we are being silenced and shut down the title of the book folks is outcast how the radical left tried to destroy a young conservative and that is Stevie so Stevie was this a the attack on you was this coming from the BLM movement at Belmont University or in Nashville have you identified the nucleus of where this attack came from okay so let me ask you a broader question we saw during the Trump Tifa uprisings mainly Seattle Portland but obviously across the country Chicago New York but that coincided with this this COVID -19 virus outbreak as a as a university student you've now graduated but Stevie were you were you drawing any parallels to either of these things happening during the Trump administration that seemingly linked to a communist revolt within the country does that making sense were you able to draw any connect any dots Stevie we know from history that it usually doesn't work that way and the government's gonna keep taking more and more of our rights and when you couple that with what is happening what did happen in 2020 with with the riots and people getting away with committing crimes to where if you and I or anyone else who was a conservative did burn down a courthouse like they did in Nashville or protest and kill innocent people in the streets we would go to jail however because they were advancing a political movement that the liberal district attorneys in big cities supported they were let go and they were not punished like they should have been like we would have been so the hypocrisy is terrible I think it does parallel communism to where you know if you remember the black shirts Mussolini's black shirts taking control of the Italian government because they were the advancing political agenda and movement that the powers that be wanted them to they were able to harass and intimidate people into supporting them and I fear that our country is going that way and we need people to stand up now if we're ever hoping to take back our country and get it back on the right track and under control Gloria the book is recently published it looks like it was just published last month and you've got us forward by Sam Sorbo how's the reception of the book been so far what are people saying who have you spoke to about it how is it being received lot Gloria a of media outlets that are reaching out to us I'm being asked to speak almost on a daily basis different organizations different groups Stevie and I have traveled to a lot of different states throughout the country and we will continue to be touring and we are I have started a conversation and parents are now extending that conversation with their friends and that is the goal we need to start with one person talking to another and now the growth has been exponential it's incredible the book is selling very well it's available on Amazon and wherever books are sold but from what I have witnessed and the calls I am getting yes it is and I mean if we as conservatives don't speak up we're gonna be done this is it and if America Falls there is nowhere else to go and our children are being indoctrinated I don't care what level of schooling it's that they're being indoctrinated on every single level and if parents do not set a strong foundation in the household when the child is born and continue that throughout a child's life when they go to college always we will not be America any longer so the book is being well received I do have parents who have reached out to me and who have asked me questions likewise I do have some haters but that's how I know I'm making a difference because the hate is there as well yeah absolutely well said it's like when you went once you're censored you know that you're putting up the correct information on the online right Stevie are you concentrating on any particular campuses as you tour the country you point of a Christian organization and unfortunately they they canceled the meeting that was going to happen at Belmont and so been trying to help the students out there at Belmont but really I think the key thing is getting in front of as many young people as possible who are conservative and letting them know that they're not alone that the hardships they're going through have happened before and they're gonna happen again and we've got to stand up tall for what we believe in and we can't be scared of people saying mean things about us or what people put on social media or what they may say to us we've got to stand up for what we believe in if there's any chance of saving our country thank you very much let me ask you this question Gloria as we as we wind down and then I want to give each of you an opportunity to leave listeners with some final words and thoughts but Gloria as somebody who's lived in a communist country and it sounded like you did at least one year schooling their first grade what's happening right now to the border of your country what's happening down there they believe they have freedom and to an extent they do and I equate it to when I speak I speak to a lot of young people because young people are what United Women Foundation is mostly about and so when I speak I they look at me very oddly when I tell my story but what I have found that works very well is I bring up a lion at a zoo and he's in a zoo he's caged his needs are met he has food he has shelter he has water he has medical attention and it's all for free but he is still in that cage but he is able to roam in that cage correct and then we have the next picture a lion picture lion in Wyoming in Montana anywhere in this country roaming freely that lion bends for himself he finds his own food he finds his own shelter he finds his own water he takes care of himself that lion is independent to me that is the difference that is the bottom line that is the difference between communism and America that is the difference between our constitution is that lion that is roaming free throughout this country and that's what we are right now so that is something that I think resonates with young people and I I believe that putting it in a perspective of a picture like that they are beginning to understand a little bit I hope at least I mean I don't know right now what I'm seeing is a lot of people have said we cannot have an opinion because we have not experienced it which truly breaks my heart my family in Croatia thinks that they are free in effect my family basically is a caged lion yeah incredible and and let me review what is happening right now at the southern border in in the U .S.

A highlight from SPECIAL REPORT: SBF TRIAL 9-20 Update

"Welcome to the SBF trial, a Coindesk podcast network newsletter bringing you daily insights from inside the courtroom where Sam Bankman -Fried will try to stay out of prison. Follow the Coindesk podcast network to get the audio each morning with content from the Coindesk regulation team and voiced by Wondercraft AI. As we gear up for Sam Bankman -Fried's and unpack what happened in late 2022 that got us here today. It is one of the most consequential documents in financial history, given that it caused the collapse of a $32 billion empire in just nine days. And now to a highly anticipated criminal trial. It is the infamous balance sheet of Sam Bankman -Fried's trading firm, Alameda Research. Its explosive content served as the basis for a November 2nd, 2022 story by Coindesk's Ian Allison. The article raised questions about how sturdy the company's financial underpinnings were and by extension, how safe Bankman -Fried's better known crypto exchange FTX was. It turns out not at all. For the protection of our sources, we are not publishing the document itself, but rather describing its contents in finer detail than ever before. Labeled consolidated balance sheet 2022 Q2, it gets into the nitty gritty of Alameda's naughty empire. Much of that empire relied on tokens of projects Alameda was unusually close with, particularly the formerly white hot crypto startups it invested in. For example, it led eight figure investment rounds in the closely linked projects, Oxygen and Maps .me and counted nearly $600 million worth of those projects tokens locked and unlocked on its balance sheet. When FTX went bust, it stranded 95 % of those projects token supply in a state of limbo that seems to continue to this day. Those projects tokens have since lost much of their value, but even back then they were unlikely to be worth that much in practice. Attempting to trade them at scale on the open markets would have shattered their value. Alameda had multiple ties to Bonfita, the popular wallet naming service in the Ethereum ecosystem. It was the primary market maker for Bonfita's native token FITA. It acquired millions of FITA tokens by investing in that startup. Notably, Bonfita developers inherited development duties over the purportedly decentralized Serum crypto exchange, another FTX production. In SRM, the bounds of reality and believability began to break down for Alameda. It was a token that FTX group coders had conjured out of nothing for the benefit of Serum. The SBF founded trading infrastructure for much of Solana blockchain -based DeFi. Alameda reported holding nearly $183 million worth of locked SRM and $300 million unlocked, plus nearly $320 million in SRM collateral and an additional $330 million in locked SRM as a liability. But it was Alameda's miles deep holdings of FTT, the exchange token minted specifically by FTX, that proved to be the empire's undoing. CoinDesk's November 2nd, 2022 article authored by Ian Allison revealed that billions of dollars of FTT backed up Alameda's largesse, a fact that spooked market participants and eventually set off a run on FTX. It was during that chaos that people began to realize that the emperor had no clothes. Four days after Allison's story came out, Binance CEO CZ tweeted that, due to recent revelations, his exchange would sell its hefty FTT holdings. That quickly drove down the price of FTT, putting Bankman -Friede's companies into a tailspin. Bankman -Friede was forced two days later to seek a bailout from Binance. But that proposed takeover fell apart in a day, something another Allison scoop revealed was likely to happen hours before it was made official. Then, on November 11th, Bankman -Friede's companies were forced to file for bankruptcy protection. Allison's initial scoop on the collapse. Thousands of news stories credited CoinDesk for setting off the chain of events, including pieces from high -profile publications like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, The Financial Times, The Verge, New York Magazine, CNN, and NPR's Planet Money podcast. CoinDesk journalists went on to win a George Polk Award, one of the top journalism honors, for their FTX coverage. And their finalists for the prestigious Gerald Loeb Award. Winners for that will be announced next week.

A highlight from Evangelism - The Christian and Prayer

"We are glad to see you gathered in tonight in the house of the Lord and we want to open by singing praises on to the Lord and that hymn is 577. Sweet is the promise, I will not forget thee, nothing can molest or turn my soul away and we want to really sing on to the glory of the Lord tonight so we'll stand after the introduction and worship God. Sweet is the promise, I will not forget thee, nothing can molest or turn my soul away. We know the night we are within the valley, the speed of the shining at eternal day. I will not forget thee or leave thee, in my arms I'll hold thee, in my arms I'll hold thee. I will not forget thee or leave thee, I am my redeemer, I will care for thee. Why can I show my gratitude to Jesus, for his love of faith and his tender care? I will proclaim to his lovers his salvation, that they may accept him and his promise shared. I will not forget thee or leave thee, in my arms I'll hold thee, in my arms I'll hold thee. I will not forget thee or leave thee, I am my redeemer, I will care for thee. Trusting the promise, I will not forget thee, onward will I go with songs of joy and praise. Though my friends forsake me, Jesus will be near me, that I keep my faith. I will not forget thee or leave thee, in my arms I'll hold thee, in my arms I'll hold thee. I will not forget thee or leave thee, I am my redeemer, I will care for thee. When at the golden portals I am standing, all my tribulations, all my sorrows past, I speak to hear the blessed proclamation, enter faithful servant, welcome home at last. I will not forget thee or leave thee, in my hands I'll hold thee, in my arms I'll hold thee. I will not forget thee or leave thee, I am my redeemer, I will care for thee. Amen. Going to unite our hearts together in prayer, thinking of those precious promises of the Lord, that he is our redeemer, he will never leave us, never forget us, that he will strengthen us in our hour of need, that he will protect us, that he will preserve us, and that one day he will glorify us. So many precious promises in the word of God, and therefore we want to come as the children of the Lord tonight to give thanks onto him for giving us his word and those precious promises that it contains. Our gracious Lord and our loving eternal Father in heaven, we do want to still ourselves tonight in this meeting, we want to honour thee by coming into thy presence in the name of our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. We thank thee for the one who is the sacrifice for sinners, we thank you the one who is the mediator of the new covenant, and we thank thee for the one who was sinless, perfect, pure and holy, who was able to bear the sins of others because he had none of the one who satisfied the wrath of a holy God and the one who declares his people to be justified. We thank the Lord tonight for the wonderful declaration of heaven for each child of God. We can say tonight on the basis of scripture, I am his and he is mine. What a wonder tonight, oh Lord, that we could call the God of heaven and earth ours, and what a marvel that he would call us his. Thank you, Lord, for being in union with thee and we praise thee, Lord, that tonight we're in the place of worship. Lord, we've come to this house tonight to lift up our voices in praise. We've come to this house tonight to open thy word and hear thy servant teach the truth that it contains. I pray, oh Lord, tonight that thou will give much liberty to her brother. Pray, Lord, you'll bring to his mind the words that are necessary for this moment. We think of the scripture that talks about the message as a nail in a sure place. Lord, we pray that people will know tonight that the Lord has had a message for them, and not only will they know that there's a message for them, but they will gladly and willingly and immediately yield to God's will. Lord, we do not want to leave here tonight untouched by thy word, unchanged by thy spirit, and therefore we pray that the one who knowest all things will search our hearts tonight, and should there be that which is displeasing, we pray, oh Lord, that thou will deal with it tonight. Bring it to our minds that we might confess it, repent and put it under the blood. Lord, we ask thee that in these days we will be clean vessels and meet for the master's use. Thank thee for what our ears have heard already over this weekend. We thank the Lord for the gospel which was sounded forth in the Lord's day, and Lord, how is the people of God? We've a much deeper appreciation tonight of truly what the Lord has saved us from, and we thank the Lord we're of the necessity of reaching the lost with the truth of the gospel. Oh, Lord, give us give us the ability to be faithful stewards. Give us, oh Lord, the grace that is necessary to be godly people doing the work of God. Lord, we remind it we must work while it is day, for the night is coming when no man can work, and therefore, Lord, I pray you'll burn our hand at the command of God. Bless our dear brother, we thank you for him and his wife. Pray, Lord, that these meetings will also be a blessing to his heart, and Lord, that even as he would return home, Lord, he will know something of enjoying the fellowship among the people of God here. We pray for those watching online tonight. We thank thee for them, and we pray, Lord, that thou would minister wherever they be in this world, and that the speaking voice of God will be heard in this place online, and wherever this message is heard, and that what happens after they hear the word, the results will bring glory to God. Lord, we leave this meeting in its entirety in thy hands. Remember those, Lord, tonight of our loved ones who are not saved. We'd love them to be in a meeting such as this, but they're not they're not mine, and therefore, we pray, Lord, tonight that even as we would seek to draw closer to our God and to know more of his word, Lord, please send thy spirit out after our loved ones. Speak to their heart. Call them, we pray, and may even this night at work be started in their hearts that will unite our families in the Savior. Lord, we've been called for such a day as this, and therefore, we pray that you will make each life in this room count for eternity. Don't allow us to get to the end of our days and look back and have to say wasted years, but Lord, cause us to fully surrender, to go through with God, and to know God's best in these days. Bless us, we pray. Watch over as we ask, for it's in Jesus' name we pray these things and for his glory. Amen and amen. Once again, it's good to see everybody gathered here. We thank you for being with us. For those watching online, we welcome you in the Savior's name as well. We've one more meeting, and that is tomorrow night, and the theme is the Word of God. The Christian and the Word of God are guidance, and how we need the guidance of the Lord in these days, and our brother will be opening God's word and showing us something of the guidance of the Lord. Also, tomorrow night after the meeting, we'll be having supper together, and therefore, we ask those who are coming to bring eatables, and catering team number two will be serving the food, and we thank them in advance for that. We welcome our brother and his wife once again. For those who are visiting with us as well, we welcome you especially, and trust that tonight we'll know something of the drawing near of the Lord. We're going to sing one more hymn and hand over to your brother. 623, 623, God is here and that to bless us with the Spirit's quickening power, see the cloud already bending waits to drop the grateful shard. We'll stand and worship God.

Ed Del Beccaro Shares a Broker's Perspective on Economic Development

"Going to introduce Ed DelBaccaro of TRI Commercial Real Estate. Why are we talking to a commercial broker? Part of that is because for economic development to happen, there are multiple partners and a city has to get the perspective of a broker because they are the ones that look for not only the locations for cities, but the time to approve permits, the possibility of zoning and the problems zoning may. So I think you're going to find this an interesting take on how does a broker finding locations for clients, creating employment opportunities for cities. How do they want to work with cities and how could a city better work with that broker? Thank you for joining us on today's Capstone Conversation. Ed is the San Francisco Bay Area Regional Manager for TRI Commercial Offices. He is personally out of the Walnut Creek area, but the region serves San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose among everything in between those three cities. He specializes in office sales, medical, retail properties and mixed use space. He has over 40 years in the space. He is the vice chair of the East Bay Development Association. He is a board member of the East Bay Leadership Council, and he is a member of the Diablo Valley Tech Institute, among other things that he could talk about in his background. Ed, do you want to tell us a little bit more about yourself today? Thank Yes. you, Jared. As you mentioned, I've been in the real estate space 40 plus years, whether it's a commercial broker offering commercial record services, I've also been in the property management space where I ran a property management division, managed some of my own buildings. I also do project consulting, and I also do consulting to cities and some developers or tenants. So I went to school out here, stayed. I was a philosophy major, which is why I'm in commercial real estate, married with three kids and four grandkids. Great. And if our audience is wondering, why are we talking to a commercial broker today when we've been talking to mayors, city councilmen, chamber executives? Today is to get a broker perspective on economic development and the permit process. How could cities work with brokers? How can they partner with the real estate community to learn and better develop their cities into the best that they can be? That's actually a very good question. My day job is to assist companies in either relocating into our region or retaining companies. And the second part of the day job is to advise owners and developers where to invest and put their buildings. Where are the economic drivers going? What kinds of tenants and tenants are different? A insurance company is different from a bank is different from a life science is different from a advanced manufacturing. So there's all kinds of factors that go into that decision, whether you're the tenant, the user, or whether you're the developer owner who hosts the building. And it's not just I have a vacant piece of property or a vacant building, build it and they will come. So therefore, we live in the future as commercial brokers. We're looking at I just got off a Zoom call with a major hospital that I represent and we're talking about 225 and 230 timelines as to when we move and plan. And then what are the parameters and what is what do they need in terms of infrastructure and where? So we literally live two to five years down the road, which is the horizon of several of the economic development directors, so we can assist with that.

A highlight from Closed Doors

"Thank you very much for that Let's turn our Bible tonight to the book of Acts chapter 16 book of Acts chapter 16 Well look in verses 6 to 7. I'll be in a couple of other places tonight If you want to turn there you can my message is a topical message this evening And so a number of a couple of other different places where I'm going to probably read out of tonight Acts chapter 16 verses 6 and 7 is where I'm going to be in the very first Luke chapter 13 in verses 24 to 28 I'll read that here shortly and then maybe a little bit later Luke chapter 11 in verses 5 13 I'm going to talk a little bit about Closed doors this evening, you know, we went Throughout pretty much a lot of the pandemic or whatever. There was a lot of things that were closed But just kind of thinking about you know, also, you know when we read oftentimes we're reading through the scriptures We're often looking for you know, you hear messages on open doors and things like that, but you don't really hear a whole lot I don't believe about doors that have been shut doors that God shut and so in studying I was reading through the scriptures and just looking over some places where The Bible talks about doors that are shut and of course for for good reason And so we're going to take a look at some of that here tonight and just saying you know it because you know We serve a God that opens doors. We also serve a God that shuts doors And listen I can tell you what sometimes those shut doors could be just as much of a blessing if maybe not perhaps more Than doors that were open So, you know whether there's sometimes they're if they're closed they're closed for a reason you can try to open them up But God's done shut it and and if God's done shut it and then don't try to open it yourself because for one you won't be able to do it and to you waste a lot of time and effort and energy and In three if God does decide to give you what you want because you just stubborn you wish you didn't do it So you might just open up a Pandora's box and that's something you don't want to do neither and so We look throughout the scriptures We see there are lots of doors that are open but there are also doors that are shut and God did it and So let's take a look at maybe just a few of those things tonight where we can see where the Bible talks about doors That are shut and so we're going to begin here tonight in Acts chapter 16 gonna look in verses 6 and 7 and We see that Paul as he is on his missionary journey He is of course traveling around going to a number of different places and he gets here and there in verse 6 of Acts chapter 16 the Bible says that now when they had gone throughout Viagra and the region of Galatia and were forbidden of the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia And so we see there in verse 6 that for whatever reason God had forbidden them to go to To go to Asia and to preach the gospel now We can actually look through the book of Acts and see this happen a couple of different times And in a couple of the letters that we see where Paul was forbidden to go to certain places through the Holy Spirit of God For whatever reason the Bible doesn't always tell us what the reason is But the Bible does show us here in verse 6 that he was forbidden to go by the Holy Spirit of God And so of course to be obedient to the Lord one of the things that he would need to do is not to go as the Holy Spirit had had had said And he wanted to be obedient and he also wanted to make sure of course being obedient making his heart Make sure his heart was right with God and you never know Of course when you go against God, you're putting yourself in a whole lot of danger And so there in verse 6 we see that the Holy Spirit forbid him to go And so we see this door that was shut, you know, we're often preaching about, you know, Lord open up doors and you know These kinds of things and often sometimes you'll maybe hear about, you know open, you know Somebody I've heard in prayer before God open doors and if you open shut doors that need to be shut And that is a good prayer because you know As I said before those shut doors can be just as much of a blessing as these doors that are open Sometimes the doors need to shut and so we see there in verse 6 that for whatever reason The Bible shows us that the Holy Spirit had forbidden now the Apostle Paul to go into Asia and to preach the word And so we see that the very first door that was shut was this door of evangelism now, we know that God wants Evangelism to go through the four corners of the earth We know that he wants the gospel to reach every creature to reach every person But you know just because the door was shut right here for this moment doesn't mean that God wasn't going to open up that door At another time and I think that's something else that we have to understand and realize as well That just because God shut that door for him doesn't mean that God shut that door for everybody Doesn't mean he shut that door for somebody else.

A highlight from S17E4: Following Your Intuition (in Dating) w/ Nikki Novo

"Hi, I'm Yui Xu. And I'm Julie Kraftchick. We're active daters turned dating sociologists. Here to dive into everything modern dating and relationships. Welcome to the dateable podcast. Hi, hi, hi. Welcome back to another brand new episode. This is a repeat guest, but someone who we talk about constantly. She changed my life. Not only does she change your life, but she's been on our mind for three years since the last time we spoke to her. And I couldn't believe it when I was looking at how long I had been since she'd been on the podcast. And I was like, wait, feels like we just spoke to her yesterday because I think about her constantly. That's so weird. I also think about her constantly. She is my secret girl crush as well. Who are we talking about? Nikki Novo. Nikki Novo, we had her on the podcast back in 2020 season 11, episode 14. What's holding you back? So she's an intuitive, she's an author. She wrote a fabulous new book and she did readings for us. So she did readings back in 2020. And for me, I was at a very pivotal point that I had just ended my relationship with my on again, off again boyfriend of five years. We had done that final in COVID. We're either doing this or we're not. All the same issues came back and I realized that I wasn't doing this and actually, okay, so another part of why Nikki Novo is so important in my life that I'm not even sure if I really fully shared is with my ex. One of the things that was really challenging with that relationship is that he was very hot and cold. Like it was like, I'm in love with you. I want to be with you. And then I need my space. I need time alone. And that was really hard for me. Like I did not do well with the inconsistency. And of course he did that again. It was like we had this wonderful time together and then it was, I need that space. And I went to the park and I was so like upset about this cause I'm like, here we go again. It's the same shit happening. And I read Nikki Novo's book, The Final Swipe, her first book, because we were prepping to have her on the podcast. And I remember reading the book and I was just like, I don't want this relationship anymore. And that was such a turning point for me. I think it was like that final turning point for me. Like I had been building that up for a while and then like reading that, like reading whatever she wrote resonated with me so much. And I like came home and I'm like, I don't want to do this anymore. No, no. That was The Final Swipe. It was The Final Swipe. It was done. It was done. Well, she has this way of just putting thoughts in such a clear framework. That it's not like it's new for you. It's not like those the first time you ever thought about this as being this being final. But she just puts it in a way that you're like, yeah, of course. Like, I don't want this. If you put it that way, I don't want this in my life. And this is the final straw or the final swipe. So I appreciate her clarity in the way she expresses herself. And when she did my reading, you know, I was like, just celebrate my two year anniversary. We were kind of fighting that whole weekend on our anniversary trip about what is the future. And she said, listen, no need to be so anxious. You are going to live a non -traditional life. Your path is non -traditional. So stop trying to fit into that traditional future that you see. I was like, done. That's all I need to hear. That's really interesting because like I OK, like in the moment, of course, when you were going through that and you had that reading, you were really trying to make it work with your ex. And I heard that as like maybe you don't get married, but you have like a non -traditional life with him. But now, like looking at where it's going, that could just be a lot broader than with him. Yes. Yes. And I think it was still applied to our relationship. We had a pretty non -traditional trajectory. But, you know, when this relationship ended, I was like, that doesn't need to be the path I go on, you know, and her words came back to me and I was like, yes, I'm meant for a non -traditional life. I know. And, you know, because when I did the reading, I just ended this relationship and then I was really at a crossroads of, OK, what's next? And she really gave me hope that this was my year, that the person was around the corner. You know, I did end up meeting my partner in that year from that reading. It was like my year around my birthday, as she predicted. But more than anything, it was the mindset shift it gave me. It was the fact that I had the confidence that it was going to happen. It was just a matter of when, not if. And I think that was like a big shift for me, because in the past, like I definitely had that thought, like, what if it never happens for me or what if I never meet this person? And just changing that mentality, going into every date and being like, OK, is it this person? And if it's not, then just being like, OK, it's going to be the next person. And she did warn me, too, of, you know, you're going to go through that like rocky time. And I definitely did. I was able to get through it because I didn't get discouraged. And it kind of goes back to that perseverance again. Like, I think that's so important of you just keep going because, OK, I don't think dating is a numbers game in the sense that you need to be dating all these people at once. And, you know, you really have to be like churning through people in the sense of knowing what works for you. I do think getting clear is probably more time effective than going on date after date after date with no clarity and no intention. But I do think you have to be realistic that in today's world, the first person you swipe on is not going to be your partner for life. Like, right. I probably went on like 500 dates before I met my partner. I think that's what we calculated when we did the episode with your friend, you know, rough back of the napkin math. But, you know, like I probably swiped on like 10 ,000 people. What do you think about it? Like this didn't happen overnight. So you have to kind of go through it. But that knowing knowing that it's going to happen, it made me approach dating a lot more positively. Yeah. And it does make you think, too, because I think we should give that advice to you. It's like everybody who does come into your orbit serves a reason. Yeah. So if they're not the right person for you, you can still learn something from them and then move on from it because that's not your person. It's like not time wasted. And we're not just like sitting around waiting for that person to show up at our doorsteps. We still got to be out there learning from people with people before we meet the right person, which is a mindset I'm in now because it was I again foray back into dating. I've been a little gun shy with online dating, but now I'm going on this. I'm taking myself on a romantic trip to Greece. Yes. And I'm going to be taking all the condoms with me because I feel like maybe, you know, dating abroad, strangers, no strings attached. Maybe the best way to get myself back into some sort of like a romantic mindset. You know, I don't need to think about the future. No, I just think about the now and have a great time. That's where you are right now. And like, I think as long as your mindset is open and positive, then you'll attract people into that orbit. Yeah, for sure. Into my web, my sex web. I'm just like picturing you on this cruise, like, you know, like Titanic style, just like in the front of trolling for a day.

"Let him be the first to throw a stone at her. Then he bent down and rode on the ground again. When they heard this, they went away one by one, beginning with the eldest, until Jesus was left alone with the woman who remained standing there. He looked up and said, woman, where are they? As no one condemned you? No one served she replied. Neither do I condemn you, said Jesus, go away, and do not sin anymore. What touched your heart in this time of prayer? What did your heart feel as you prayed? What do you hope to carry with you from this time with the lord? Let us now close with the prayer to the father that Jesus gave us. Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done. On earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day. Our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses. As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. Amen.

"Nori takes revenge on alcaraz in Rio and Djokovic surpasses graph for most weeks at number one. Kim Chris, today is the 27th of February and we are here to catch up on the week in tennis at tennis weekly headquarters, especially backed by our crowdfunders Caroline girling and Stephen rankin. It's been another entertaining week on the tour. A surprising week, actually, because eager schwinn tech, oh my word, lost to barbora cricova in the final in Dubai. We had the Brits doing very, very well with cam nori winning in Rio, as well as Andy Murray getting to the final losing to Medvedev, who's made it back to back titles and consecutive weeks in Doha. And we've had some historic news today, Novak Djokovic has surpassed Steffi Graf for number of weeks at world number one. Guys, it has also been a historic occasion because it's been a sad sad day for me because malek yasiri, one of my favorites, one of my favorite players who's history has been entwined with the story of the podcast. He has been sent into retirement today in Dubai in the men's event by Alejandro davidovich for kina. He had a wild card. He went out very easily and now I've got to spend the next hour or so I feel like processing this sad sad information I've got to be completely honest, I'm not a 100% sure who that is. Oh, Chris. Chris, you don't know who Malik jaziri is. I know this is bad. Jolie more hurt by the fact that Chris doesn't know who he is or the fact that he's now retired. A bit both to be honest, yeah, I'm absolutely devastated. I thought maybe there was maybe there was one more run he could go through to the second round on the third round. Maybe he could take another wild card into an event in the Middle East, but sadly not, and yeah, he's hung up his tennis racket, although he will still be on the tour. I believe he is now. I wasn't even aware of this. He is the coach of vasek pospisil, but yet he's now officially hung his racket up, he's playing days are over. That's quite an interesting partnership. But I mean, Chris, so the backstory for yourself and for any listeners who haven't been with us since the early days of the podcast. Myself and Joel bonded over a malek jaziri match at the Australian open in 2018. It was against Salvatore Caruso. Another name you may never have heard of. Was this on a rod laver? No. The furthest from the main arena and even though it was like it had gone late, it was like 5 sets. It's still felt like there was only about 30 40 people watching, but it was that sort of time where I did, you know, I was talking to Kim about, hey, should we start a podcast? And that's how you series so related and entwined in the podcast law. I don't even know who won that match between him and cariso, but I remember someone accusing the other player of feigning an injury and all sorts. It went a bit sort of grudge match. Kim, I think the biggest thing to have come out of that match was the podcast, not the result itself. It was the formation of we should get them both on. He did. We should get the word. He did win it. I can confirm. It went to 5 sets and he won it 6 three in the final set. So what a result for malek. I'd love to have him on. We could ask him how significant that match was for his career if he remembers it even if he remembers that the crowd. Yes. Exactly. Let's come back to the present day though, otherwise we'll be spending the whole episode perhaps reminiscing about random matches at AO 2018, which isn't what most people are here for. I'm sure. What's been your highlight from this week on the tour? Joel, I mean, your highlight from the tennis, but I also, I am dying to know how your pepper army pancake went as well. So if you can kind of fill us in on both of the great. The less said about that, the better, I think, yes. Listeners, yeah, I suggested maybe pancake and a pepper army sort of rolled around each other. Yeah, it's not a thing. It does not work. I definitely do not have the peperami in the fridge before eating it like cold and hot. It's the contrast. It just doesn't work. It's a recipe for disaster, so we can leave it, we can leave it firmly there, but yeah, in terms of the actual action on the court this week, what my highlight was and it's my highlight because it just gave me a lot of confidence and it was maxime Crecy in Marseille against Jeffrey Blanco and he served what is dubbed the reverse perfect game, which is four double faults in a row broken to love. It was very messy. He still won the match, which was great, but yeah, watching that, it just sort of gave me some confidence that, yeah, it does happen to the top players as well. Messy from Crecy, goodness. That is a bad game. I love that messy. I do think though that we have seen like this transition, this slow evolution of more and more players being like, I'm just going to serve two first serves as opposed to, I'll do a first serve and then I'll have my very steady second serve, which is my high percentage play. I do think you get more and more players now like Crecy, who if you watch it, you can see why you serve affordable faults. He was just he was just going for it on every serve and obviously that's a completely different approach and mindset to have. But it's certainly feels like for me something we've seen become increasingly popular on the tour over the last couple of years. And he does do a lot of service practice I was going to say, you know, nice of his game is to serve in the volley. So maybe he practiced it more than others, so he backs himself to make it more than missing. The odds are very much in favor of him making one of them, but it did look a bit like when he got to three double faults. He wasn't hopeful for that last one. I suppose by the time he'd done three, he thought I might as well do for right now and then just call that game a bit of a rise. Chris, what about you? What's amused you from the world of tennis this week? And I also want to ask, I think you having some pancakes last week when we were having some galette. Yes. How are your galettes? But I sent you a picture. They weren't very well. It is with buckwheat flour, did find that out.

"That's AC sports two 5. So Stevie's also been a part of some great matches. Can you give me one most memorable match when or one or lose with Stevie? Yeah, this year, I mean, he's not a couple matches. He had to come back to his last year with Jack sock they were like, just crazy matches with the way those guys are playing. But this year in the second round of the French, he was playing a Brazilian guy. Juggle Montero, who is like rough on clay, lefty, like the guy, you know, he returned to serve on the tarp near the fence. And Steve was playing him and Steve was losing to this guy. I think CT was down two sets. Maybe the first round he was down two sets with Francis. Maybe he was like, he was always down a set in this match with Montero and he was playing him when they had the curfew at 9 p.m. for COVID because COVID COVID stops at 9 p.m.. So the curfews with all the fans gonna leave. So it ended up being him playing this Brazilian guy in a 5 set match, like on court 15 and a way back and you know on the other side of Susan longland. And I'm there, the other dude's two coaches are there. Maybe someone from the USTA is watching Kathy and Aldi and David think, and I think we're behind me. And Steve, Steve weissen, from tennis channel. And this match was funny for a few different reasons. One early in the match it was Carlos Ramos, who is famous for calling the coaching violation on Serena. At the U.S. open. And so in the second set, this guy gives the Brazilian Montero a soft warning for coaching. He says, tell your coach to stop coaching. And my guy, Steve, as he does, inserts himself in there. And he's like, wait, coaching, soft warning, and the guy's like, yeah, I gave him a soft warning and seems like, well, is it coaching or is it not coaching? And Pascal's like, well, I'm just telling him, you know, no more coaching. And it seems like, so my coach should get one free coaching. And he yells over and he's like, hey, Mark, you get one. You get one free one. And the guy's like, you know, he's like, no. And in my mind, I'm like, this guy is like totally gun shy because he's, you know, after he got his hand slapped. But so that happened. And then, you know, Steve ended up coming back and winning this match 6 O in the 5th, which was crazy. It was a crazy win. And you know, Steve weissman is yelling like big first serve. Like, in this empty stadium to Steve, first serve, big serve here. And after I met Steve was like, you know, what do you think this guy like? I was planning on missing my first serves and like you know hitting only second service to win..

Good advice from a man who knows, Dr Ken Crown house here on Good day Health with Doug. Stephan. The my pillow benefit I washed. I might pillows the other day and the washing machine and dried them because I thought it was time I keep advising people to do that, or telling people when you buy anything from my pillow short of the mattress itself. You can wash them and dry. Um, but I hadn't had mine for a little over a year. And I thought, okay, time for me to wash them. I don't even know what the recommendation is, but I thought well, now we were going through the house cleaning up everything. So let's wash the pillows. So I did, and I found the pillows last night to be more responsive. So apparently when you do, wash them and dry them, it's sort of repositions. The filling, if you will, so that you can go back to having that same because let's face it, no matter what the product is, after a year of use every day or every night, it's going to have a different It's going to be different. So when you watch them, that's what really I discovered you wash them and dry them and they are back to the fullness in the firmness that you get when you first buy them new. That's one of the benefits one of the many benefits Of going to my pillow, combine some my pillow products and using them follow the directions as usually a pretty good way to get more success more use out of something like a my pillow. "The week, But men Stay away from the avocado? No. Nope. You do You really like the avocado? Yes. Absolutely. That is the first green thing I have ever heard You like it is gross. Yeah, Yeah. Wow. Oh, yeah. Like the avocado sliced avocado on like a taco or something like that. Yeah. What about guacamole? Love it. Do here? Yes. How have I worked with you this long and never know. Considered a green green. It is. It's the most screen Technically a fruit don't like cutting that Make me feel It's not vegetables. Fruit? Yeah, it really a fruit typically, Yeah. Doesn't taste sweet to me. Well, it doesn't have to be because the tomato is a fruit too. Yeah. Yeah, the seed anyway, I love avocado. Seriously. It's one of my favorites. And there's a brand new study that says that women who eat an avocado a day Could be helping their bodies, redistribute belly fat, and that's only in women for men. It could make you fat. See, It's not fair. See the thing you have to deal with, I guess because healthy fat right there is fat there. Oh, there's tons of fat in it, but they consider it a healthy fat. So when it says redistribute, so it gets it takes it from your stomach area. And it goes to like maybe where you want him. Well, redistribute. Maybe Yes. Maybe it goes in a different way. Like I don't think your blood is going to get huge or anything, in fact, never goes where you want it to go. But I think instead of having a large majority of the fat in your belly and avocado might be able to put it in different places and not settle there. Okay? Yeah, Maybe that's a better way of saying it's just not going to settle their your stomach. But for guys it can make you just make you fat. It's a green. So the one green pain, of course, makes me fat. The women who ate an avocado a day experienced a reduction in the ratio of visceral fat too. Subcutaneous. Is that how you say it? It sounds right. Continue, anyway, just redistributed as much time talking about 1. 1/100 of you know, doesn't say, I wonder doesn't say we always get these reports about the food Does this food does this this this this and it's always a minuscule unless yeah, how much it is because what was it the one day, it said Um, hot dogs take 36 minutes off of your life. But then if you want to get 26 minutes back, you just eat a handful of cashews. Yeah, of our life, right? And then in the end, there is the average always like 78 years of deliver 89. Then they say, don't eat too many cashiers because the fat is really high and nuts. Oh, win. That's what they say. Like whenever I'm on a diet, which is supposed to be a Filipina today now I think a handful is fine. But who in the hell stops at a handful of peanuts? Nobody. I know so they when anytime I'm on a diet, which is all the time they always say, just like a handful of nuts, I think 13 No, I think it's six. I think six almonds is enough for one Serving a fact I weigh more than that. I mean, there's the wasabi. Um, those are delicious. Yeah. What is it called? The green wasabi? Yeah. All right. I got a whole camp. Yes, I ate the whole Can you like that share? It tastes like sushi, but it's so cold. Um, what is it, Bobby amond with that has salt and then smoky flavor and wasabi. And soya sauce to it was happy and soy. Yes. So where do you get this? Okay, the stores on sale. The whole thing Hands, though, which drives me nuts, it says, though. It's not like it, says one serving. It's like 10 servings in this little Can. I ate the whole can supposed to eat six. I think there's a lot of salt on it, and they're like $7. For one point. My gosh, you have to buy one myself to 50. What is the nut? That is the most expensive because I think Sam's club has a whole. Think of cashews. Cashews on my most expensive this $400 for one thing, cashews. Almonds are are some of the cheapest peanuts some of the cheapest but cashews? Yeah, always about it in a nut mix. I always go for the cash first, because it's expensive. One tasty one. The best they are. I mean, I do like honey roasted peanuts. Delish. Yeah, I think Sam's Club I could be wrong doesn't have those They have everything else but honey roasted peanuts. Really? Unless I just can't find him. It's everything but that they'll have, like the non salted peanuts. I'm like colours eating this crap like dry roll. No, no salted ones are not good. Because you know what I accidentally didn't look at it. I got lightly salt and I was like it happened. I want heavily salted. I kind of like him Charity Katie in the morning. Guys all.

"Lincoln you look right now via tennis. Abstract arena sample lenka in eighty point seven percent favored in that match. She's minus four fifty in the early oddsmakers According to the early oddsmakers yeah. She's the favorite and if she you know she's someone who i think takes lumps to learn lessons. She makes a grand slam. Semi-final really close match with carolina plus three sets but she ends up losing that once she takes that data point back into the semi-finals here can be fascinating to see how she competes. But that's your bottom half of the draw going to be leyla fernandez taking on arena stab lincoln. Just the last thing on sat blanca. You know she's only twenty three right like again. I hate to keep doing this. But let's play the twenty thirty game in twenty thirty. All that happens. Is her digits switch. She's thirty to like come on the. Here's a list of players right now. Who are aged thirty. Two in the top one hundred. You've got patrick. Bit of a thirty one. I think that's an apt comparison for how sabah lenka may age kerber thirty-three such different game style as aranka thirty two. That's an interesting one. You've got risk in kerr who are both thirty. One obviously serena thirty nine. That's the exception sway zhang thirty two. Those are you're over thirty players right now in the top fifty. I don't think there's any reason. Sample inca couldn't be one of those players. Ten years from now should she want to be and again twenty. Three years old into a back to buy consecutive slam semi-finals brilliant performance from arena. Sabah lenka to advanced. But that's where things stand on the women's side to flip gears and and talk about where we are at on the men's side or should be Again a really really good event in you look Good event good semi-final matchup. You look no surprise to anyone. Neil medvedev advancing to those semifinals. But for him you know. Here's a four set. Victory over boat. Vince in scope ultimately six three six love. Four six seven five. I was surprised to see him. Drop that third set. I won't mind you look for medvedev overall in the side. I don't think it was anything. He did poorly. I think both dick stepped up his game and he went down swinging. But you look for medvedev over the course course of the match. It was just a medvedev. Ian performance make sixty six percent of his first serves wins eighty three percent of his first-serve points fifty six percent of his second. Serve points sneaky. Efficient twenty thirty at the net. Thirty six winners. Against twenty four unforced air seven of twelve on. Break point chances versus you. Know he fights off three of the five break points that he faces average a hundred twenty six feet per point. That is the biggest number by far. We have mentioned here on these mini break podcasts. Over the course of the us open you. Just you know vote baltic band. Essential is a guy who moves the ball really well around the court. it's very benoi parish. I know i've said this before. In just he can hit all of the angles. He can hit the slices. he can hit the dropshots. He can hit the swinging volleys. There's no shot in tennis. That is forbidden to boutique. Venison scope and yet. There's no obvious plus one weapon. He doesn't fire in the hundred thirty. Mph serve on average. He doesn't hit the ground stroke. Mock twelve you know in del po like slap at will. That's not him now. He will work in the short angles. He will work in the dropshots. But did you just on another plane. Right now physically. He's hit that joke. Vici and stage of his hardcourt career. Were unless you have elite of an elite performance..

"Of his first serves when seventy three percent of those first-serve points sixty seven percent of his second. Serve point set number. Four make seventy one percent of his first-serve wins eighty eight percent of his first-serve point seventy one percent of his second. Serve points he played the sort of dominant plus one tennis that he's capable of playing in a us that you know i serve a got. A lot of unreturnable serves on the racket of stefanos tsitsipas because he does have that sort of one twenty five one thirty power when that service landing and because he was landing at such a high rate when he did have to hit second serves he was able to be a little bit more aggressive with it. And again physically. It felt like syrup had sixty plus right where he wanted him going into that fifth. Set it just zero was tracking down. Everything c. t. Pass through at him and see honestly at a certain point in that fifth set reverted to just grinding and rolling in his back. In and saying you know what. I don't think you've got the balls to be honest to go big down the line to try and hit a winner and if you do come to the net. You're gonna be so shaky when you move forward that i'm going to have an easy look at a pass as long as i can dip it at your feet and it worked like there's nothing short to say. It worked on sphere of on this day. And it's just that was a little dr seuss apologize But it just. I did feel like this match was on spirits racket because his backhand down the line started to land sets three and four and even and sets one and two. He had his chances. It just didn't feel like seats. You pause played his best tennis at any point in this match as well. And that's why this match felt so winnable for zverev and you look at the numbers for seats. Pass overall in the match. thirty six. Winners against forty three unforced errors to forty five. Forty seven count. I mean a lot of the numbers tilt towards vir avs direction. And so. That's why i can't disagree with. You did not play a great match by any stretch of the imagination but he did have the gumption down the home stretch and you look for him in that fifth set in particular goes fifteen eighteen on. I surf point six of ten on second serve. Points doesn't get broken in the set fights off three break points. he faces. he was clutch in the fifth. He was willing to hit first. Four hands move forward and put under pressure and it felt like wins. Vera got gotta look at second serve. He would miss it when you're may have to return to a first survey was much more instinctual. So he wouldn't miss it and it's just those are the problems that persist for alex. I don't think there's anything else left to say. Because is physically. This match was on his racket but mentally again he wilted he did and look. You know you can talk about a lot of different things. The patterns and things it's of may or may not have done from the baseline. But i mean how many times you know we don't need to be a broken record here but how we're going to talk about this very servants specifically that second serve one or what i was. That's what i was literally about to say is in the fifth set when things are decided. You went thirteen percent of your points on the second. Serve you just. You just can't do that. And yeah two of those points or double faults. I mean not that you can just throw those away but even without those you know the numbers still just are not. It's just it's it's tough at this point for alex berenson. It's hilarious to paul..

"She just executed. Better than serena did today and again you look at three performances over the course of this slam because the question now for serena. It's not one slam. I don't think any of us fully expected serena to end up winning this twenty twenty one french open. Certainly i don't. I never no one in the tennis intelligencia as i like to call. It made that pick. But he looked for serena. It was slow and steady progress. I round against big. You only made fifty one percent of her first serves was fifty nine fifty in terms of i serve second serve. Win percentage splits. Good not great. But you didn't have the big serve to hurt. Her with serena was so aggressive on the return the returns landed. She wins that match in straight sets match. Number two saw the return of peak. Plus one serena and she needed it against boost and rescue because boost and rescue was able to get her. Stretch but serena executed so well on serve made sixty three percent of them. Seventy five sixty service splits in terms of i serve. Second serve win percentage. That's the plus. One tennis serena needed and that against danielle collins plus one manifested itself in the ample ample amount. She one eighty percent of her first. Serve points in you know held collins to eleven of thirty two on colin. Second serve points. Which is what serena has to do now. She needs to be aggressive returner. She needs to play big for striking. You know that was particularly important in her match up today gets rebecca because if you left anything in the center that aired it became a rally on rebecca's racket on again her ability to absorb serena's backhand today was particularly impressive. And then let's be honest. She overwhelmed serena with pace to that. Forehand wing it was really really impressive. But your serena hit the top gear in the collins match. At least on her first serve in that top gears only could be amplified by switching surfaced from the french open and the klay to wimbledon and the grass courts and again her first serve percentage for this tournament was like fifty five percent. That number needs to be better. For this iteration of serena williams to win a grand slam but win. The first survey was landing win. The plus one opportunities arose..

"But give me neil here. I'm but look the big thing. When he was ripping off the win streaks was again he was holding served. Ninety percent of the time a little bit higher he was holding serve at the rate of john is ner and he was breaking serve thirty five percent at the rate of prime rafia. On the dollar and prime djokovic again he broke the numbers. Mathematically heading into that australian open final and then he blinked and like. There's no denying all of us saw that match and we thought he's not ready because if he couldn't beat that joke which wednesay going to do it and i do think on his head a little bit like tennis players get in their own heads. There's no denying that. And yet i mean by every metric. He beat paul today zero four-shot rallies he wants sixty six of tommy. Paul one forty three. And that's because he just throws you. He is getting that return. Pass the service line. He's getting a deep at your feet and you're not gonna have plus one opportunities against him and you know again in today's match. He did serve. Like john is ner he only made fifty six percent of his first serves but he won eighty percent of those first-serve points. When you're forty fifty on your first serve points. You're having a successful day at the office. Thirty wins against thirty. Two and four stairs isn't great. But tommy didn't have the overwhelming weapon to beat them and i think medvedev in that first set kind of locked in and you saw it in the five three service game for paul which paul was credit to him that he ended up holding. They're getting that. I set but bev extended those rallies ten fifteen shots and just was like i'm not going anywhere and if you hit the winner down the line and set up a drop volley for yourself. Bravo my friend. You just beat me. But that's what you have to do. You have to go out there and beat new medvedev into your credit. You've been on this since the beginning. That's a really hard thing to do particularly in a three hour. Five set format yet spot on because medvedev in the first set was looking to horse points. Yeah exactly. He was forcing things and he forgot. Offense is going to be hard. This is clay. When you get onto the slick indoor courts of we'll actually shang. i was gonna say shanghai. But that's outside isn't it feels inside when you get on those very medvedev ian courts that are really quick and the ball barely bounces. Deal can generate offense really easily. Yeah good luck is right. I mean he's won every single tournament in the entire stretch from the us open to the world tour finals but on clay. He's gonna have to just real back and it's going to be hard work for them but we we also we've seen him do that hard work particularly in twenty nineteen where it's like my god. Does this guy have a long or is he. A robot is cardio is insane. He needs to bring that version of neil medvedev to a clay court as soon as he flipped that switch. It was very very difficult on. Tommy no you know what they say. The more your hairline has receded. The better your cardio. I can firsthand experience. Therein deniro medvedev's too bad haircuts away from shaven that bad boy. I clear my thing. I always say my vision. I can envision that oh no the full squidward look. That'd be great for him. And like i said it when he doesn't i do it so anyways tangent for all of you on the side but no i mean yes i would echo all of your points and again is his plan a as on clay courts in particular as sexy as a c. Pastas sexy as a rude..

One day corona virus death toll in the united states. That's more than the total number of people who've died of covid in south korea. It's more than the total number of people who've died of covid in japan again through the entire pandemic as the us hits yet another covid nineteen world record. We go to california where the epicenter los angeles county is expected to one million covid nineteen infections by the end of the week amidst reports of overflowing hospitals record death tolls with sixteen hundred deaths in the past week. La is averaging a death every six minutes. The crisis point for los angeles comes this number sore across the state on monday. Governor gavin newsom said the state would open vaccination sites recognize that the current strategy is not gonna get us to where we need to go as quickly as we all need to go and so that's why we're speeding up the administration just for priority groups but also now opening a large sites to do so meaning dodger. Stadium padre stadium cal. Expo these large mass vaccination sites. You start to see those coming up. It's early as this week. The virus has set latin next and indigenous communities in los angeles the hardest as cove in one thousand nine ravages working class neighborhoods where many are essential workers. This is dr edgar chavez who works community clinic in los angeles. Speaking to nbc. It's really hard for us to see our population Doing the work that nobody else wants to do front facing exposing themselves to covid and then dying from kobe and then not getting the healthcare that they need not getting the vaccine fast enough los angeles is in communities from mexico and central america have been particularly impacted as they face both the crisis of covid nineteen and additional language barriers and lack of access to information and care for more. We go to los angeles where we're joined by Delia romero co founder and executive director of indigenous communities and leadership or cielo and indigenous. Women led nonprofit that has raised over a million dollars for corona virus relief for l. as indigenous communities also recently published. A book called A book which i'm gonna ask her to pronounce documenting the stories of undocumented indigenous women for mexico and guatemala living in the midst of the pandemic. Odilia romero is a zapotec. Interpreter has been an indigenous leader with the by national front of indigenous organizations for quarter of a century. Odilia welcome back to democracy now please. So i don't miss pronounce a tell us the name of your book and then talk about the indigenous immigrant communities. And what's happening now in. The midst of this record shattering endemic the morning. They made thank you for having me again By the of the book is the order. By what kit. A women's a word. And wha- colbert indigenous communities in la. County has been devastating. Every time i talked to someone in the community another mechanic die that healer die. The dancer die and like every day we get to talk to people and it's it's a tragedy. I spoke to someone yesterday. And they're like already eight people die in my community. Another woman told me four people dying my community so every every day that i talked to someone in that community there's more and more dead and this happens because indigenous people. We don't have the privilege to stay home and that we go to work right. We have to good a work as we do our undocumented fund. We've heard a lot of story. I don't have money to pay for my rent. The funds that i'm getting through seattle it goes directly to miranda. I don't have food. I have to work. I'm selling on the street. So this puts you that condition that you put yourself at risk to get covid in once you have that you live in a apartment. Some people have lost their apartments and other with other families the one gets infected. The rest will get vetted so. It's been really painful to see the impact of kobe. Indigenous communities that infection rate is very high and when they go to the hospital well the you are there even if you spoke spanish or english. You're alone but as you get there there's no one that interprets inger language in wendy's started when we started the funds it was i- person i know knows person that had been during this summer. Oh worsening my family had cove it now. It's like when you talk to people i have. My family has a family. Member has colbert. My mother has eight of my mother has been in the hospital. Personnel in my mom was in hospital for ten days and her being there being able to see her talk to her being able to communicate in her indigenous language was devastating that she fell into a deep depression that we from women. We thought we were going to lose. Ertz all these is happening with indigenous communities a lack of funds that lack of There's a lot of food insecurity so we're going through a lot currently odilia. I'm wondering when you when we hear the stories and it's one outrageous story after another in recent days the inequality and how this this pandemic is being dealt with. I think specifically for instance national football league athletes of football players getting tested for covid single day just to assure that the football games can go on or we're hearing of these a leat a medical institutions like columbia presbyterian and brigham hospital of vaccinating not only the workers who the emergency room workers who are actually doing covert patients. But they're vaccinating their grad students. They're vaccinating their administrators. They're vaccinating all kinds of other. People really aren't risk. And meanwhile you're facing this crisis in los angeles when you hear some of these stories. What's your reaction. Myra my personal reaction. Our stock reaction is like these. Will we hear the community stories. It's very heartbreaking. There are days when the team we meeting. That evening were quarantined together. And we just like sit there and don't know what to do. Our hands are tied back. We don't we won't raised three point four million dollars and it sounds like a lot of money but it only helps five thousand people you know when people call like. Do you have any food for me. Do you have any money for durant because you know being being threatened by the landlord and then you hear these you know and i have to go to work. I mean fact that when you talk when we talk to people before coughing when we you hear the privilege of others when essential workers are not getting vaccinated aids very heartbreaking. Any kind is very personally very frustrating. Like i i wouldn't have the worst. Tell you my feeling of anger. At times because i see indigenous communities at the forefront from the farm from the cultural feels to the restaurant with the hospitality industry.

"The hospitals and the hospital said first come first serve. If you show up, we'll do it so they didn't use a registration system. There wasn't anything that was done. There's a lot of demand for it. So people are gonna want to go ahead and get it and then from the state to make sure that senior citizens didn't wait outside overnight, So the state is not dictating the hospital's how we're not dictating the Carlos Montoya how he runs his operations here. That would be a total disaster. Thies guys are much more confident to be able to deliver health care services. In a state government could ever be. Oh, my gosh. That was brilliant. Oh, that was brilliant. That's Rhonda Santa's Florida governor. He is He is so good when he handles them. He's He's got his own flavor. I know a lot of Republicans out there. They try to copy Trump style and they try to match the whole. You know, the tenor on the aggression and dissent just does his own thing. Like, you know, he's aggressive one and he said he goes again. How many times you all heard me say this? I do believe that governor descent US operates by the Dalton School of of dealing with people be nice until it's time to not be nice. Welcome back to the show. I'm Dana last in a lash calm. That's the thing all of these governors that when you look at these states that are having these Thies this trouble with with rollout of the vaccine. Cuomo, Inter qual over New York, horrible mismanagement of his state horrible rollout of the vaccine. People are wondering why I Pete, why folks are going to get it. Maybe it's because he was telling everybody that was on safe, you know, like, over and over again on television. Just a thought. And they Are trying to slam They're trying to slim to scientists for Actually being successful what he's doing. I saw this. This this piece this reporter me get this right? Is a reporter with hearts. Bloomberg. And they said that there's the delay in administrative vaccine the doses. They said that the delay the big part of the delay is because people are not taking it in New York. They say 30% of people offered the vaccine have declined that was from building Blasio's office. Again. Maybe it's because Cuomo and other people were on television over and over again, telling people that it was unsafe, Herbert just just a thought there. Good heavens. That's sort of like what happens when you tell people over and over again that Well, you don't think it's safe. We're gonna look at this ourselves. I just don't know There's a bill that's being proposed in New York. It's a 416. And it is apparently giving Cuomo like powers. Well. Powers, too. So I guess. Remove word, detain anyone with a suspected case of coronavirus. Newsweek wrote about it. Also, there's WPK W They say, Oh, it's a year. I love how they're spending this This is how listen to them. They say it's a years old bill, and it would allow the state to detain contagious patients. It's it's probably not going to gain any traction in Albany. That's other presenting this Well there, you know, it's it's assembly Bill for 16. And you know it's been They was proposed in 2015 during the Ebola outbreak, and it's you know, I mean it Xan old bill, etcetera. Except it was reintroduced. So that's the other part of that your problem so you can sit here and say that it's his oldest possible, but you actually have Democrats right now. Uh, that Democratic Democratic Assemblyman Nick Perry, who had introduced reintroduced this and it was there discussing it tomorrow in New York State Assembly's Health committee. And it grants the governor or health commissioner, quote upon determining by clear and convincing evidence that the health of others is wrong, maybe endangered by case, contact her carrier may order the removal and or detention of such person or a group of such persons by issuing a single order. And that they could have the power to require certain people to undergo a prescribed course of treatment. I'm reading verbatim out preventive medication or a vaccination, including directly observed therapy to treat the disease following infection control provisions force that disease. So you can sit here and say it was. It was first proposed in 2015. In response to Ebola, but it was re propose now for this so That's that's problematic. Would anyone vote to give the government more power? People. There are people out there who think that the government is the only legitimate Entity that is able to handle anything there, too terrified to make decisions by themselves and live their own lives. They feel like they need this parental figure. Thus, the government I feel like 20 twenties taught a lot of us that the private sector is way more valuable than the government. Well, I think 20 twenties taught us that that and also number two. Not not, as many people actually believe that, as you would think, right? I mean, your people on the right. Apparently who don't you know, don't believe that. So a couple of things as it relates to the coronavirus, Oregon sued organist sued worth a Mexican fighting.
