"Since Congress passed the first round of it and just 20% of those funds have actually made it to renters and landlords What is your take on why that money has been so slow to actually get in the hands of the people who need it Yes because you know structurally so many localities states just didn't have a system already built to be able to handle the influx of applications that were going to come in And so we understand that But we've also so that's why I am in support and I also added a provision within chairwoman water's new Bill expediting assistance.

"Maybe washington. I think they still need a guy And that's probably the only spot that i can see him going and possibly being the started because of what they have on the roster right there but Jump to the drafter of quick. I the forty niners took the guy thought they would take so now. He's surrounded by guys where he does not have to. We have to win the game. He just got to manage the game. Three costa accustomed to the nfl sweden everything. He's got enough guys around him to go play football and and be a manager for the first year they get comfortable with. Go play as the season goes along If they start with garoppolo and you know didn't go to him great if they let him go ahead and win the job. Now you've got jimmy d sitting there you can trade it but there around very easily and you get around kickbacks from all that stuff that you gave up to get up to number three so I think what the draft guy that surprised me. They went highs. He was the corner of south carolina. But picking corner is kinda like whoever the dc likes in his scheme so take him to concert. Could've taken to keep from virginia tech I like well all the quarterbacks fail they all you know. There's something to be said for sitting and being patient away. That's what happened with the england. They got the guy that they really want it and they didn't have to do anything that they have to give up anything to get him I think the team that wanna say was detroit. They got the office of tackle from oregon. Is that right. Yeah yup oh yeah. You're sitting at eight. You get back guy who possibly could have been a top three pick. Your static were static because those those booking six three hundred thirty pound guys. They don't come around. I'll often that second second play like he plays and runs and can run. You know Some of those trays kind of got me a little bit dallas flipping with with the philadelphia. You normally don't train inside your division unless you try to rob him I don't like the kid that that dallas pick. I think he's got some issues that will come up also field issues off the field. Q okay yeah. yeah yeah. He's the guy that that we had before when he was younger and he's still a little immature so i hope he grows out of it. You know he's time for that. But i think the quarterback all with the great spots. I think as an sococo bear fan. I'm glad we ended up with justin field And selfishly. I hope aaron rodgers never another pass with green bay because he always beat us watching that guy. We gotta go to break. But i wanna do you think do you think he's taking his last. Snap and green bay If i'm here my fourth trait i do. Because he's eight renner stat last night. That said that they've been there since he's been there. The only skill positions as drafted on in the first round are him in the quarterback that they took two years ago. That's how they get. Devante would davante adams he was He's either second or third around her. He woke yeah. No that's why. I don't remember what round and george floyd jordan was the second round guy right. Yeah so amazing up. I mean you're sitting there. I mean they're trying to run the same. They're trying to do the same thing. They new england with brady. Just keep giving him guys around him. Cutlery guys that comes developing a guy go you.

"And we are into club on friday. Have you seen. That'd be safe out there tyler. You see some guy driving like eight miles an hour on the inside the loop. It's tyler because he's scared now. Timer going four miles an hour and create more potholes. That'd be tyler string. Robbie just rolling out of the club to you not orthodox. I will give credit to the city of houston. They fix potholes and they do a house. You're gonna have around my area fix during the pandemic but trust me just ripe westheimer the other side inside the loop and no. It's yeah well listen. I drove that every day for five years. Not good there are play. Here's what happens. They go down construction there and the would like in the holiday time. You can't even take fifteen minutes to go one hundred yards right. Yeah the pothole. If you're driving some sports car. I got one. Gripe the traffic sucks. Traffic sucks in any city in houston to drive the work. Drivetime commute for some. We're fortunate that it's early. But i got. I got zero complaints about. He's love the people the food. It's a frigging awesome place. I can tell you this though the potholes batters in a country. And what happens you go. Mcu mentioned you go to one end of the westheimer or richmond and you see construction all the time. I've been here for eight years. It just starts at one in. And when you get that in the end there little patchwork it's worn out and they just start back again and play ping pong up and down these streets. They're the worst potholes in country. I'm talking about. It's like third world country potholes. Okay where it's like. Well we might as well just dirt road man because it is horrible. No tyler stop it you first of all you want tim tibo to be the leader in jacksonville. And that's gonna make the difference. I love tim t-bone. He's a leader but stop it. And one of our twitter folks said mute his mic. After he said that i should and secondly you just got done telling. Mc and he's a life for here. I've been here eight years. Hell of four wheel drive. Truck suspension gets ruined. Let alone. somebody's ride one of those. You chevrolet convertibles or poor. Scher a lambeau. In this town potholes the worst. I been a lot of states and people can. I don't don't ask me because we're not. I'm not arguing. About what a burger and in and out the potholes in this city are as bad as any city. I've ever been in the united states and the only city from it i. It's not close. It's only gets close for me. In terms of the driving anywhere in the state of louisiana is horrible like they just don't fix the roads period they expect you to get out and like put klay down there and patchwork year south florida bad to dan. They're down there. certain parts. We fly to fort lauderdale and had to drive to west palm beach from there like an hour drive that stretch of highway. I've been driving that every year now for five years. And it's still it's like here. There's been construction on it every single year and nothing has changed. It's the exact same unlike. What the hell you doing mc great play. You see the cones right. I mean laura literally. They've been out there and insists construction zone and there's they've torn up but there's nothing going on every time right i eight years i've been here and i can close my eyes pinpoint. Where's waldo i can tell you. We're all the construction on there but it's not it's you know. It's like robbing peter to pay paul right. I had this this move. This construction roadwork over here. This really isn't getting done bowl. Kind of patchwork in the first rain bam that dog on the pothole again. It's a big deal will. I just don't know how i i. It's the worst. And i get what you're saying. But i've seen the same cones and old construction work zone signs since we've been here. It's just they just of rotate. So that's that. Let me got me ask you something. Tony dungy say. Does anybody know why he tweeted. Schefters tweet about aaron rodgers yesterday. Do you think there's something else go. Do you think they've made. I don't mean like there's something that big some old firestorm just do you think. There's something else here taking does he. Is he and leflore. When i had four right relationship from the jump. Kind of that's what people said. That's what that's another thing. We kind of left at work talking about it when he came in there. And if you're the coach under the jordan love draft watch. Wouldn't you think you'll get even if you didn't make the pick if you're aaron don't you kind of just say well your guilt by association dude. You allowed that to happen right. I mean you don't feel like that. He's he's pig part of the picking process because he be as future quarterback right. so that makes. Is there something else. Because i've yet to hear eras he'll come out and love his teammates. But i've up to hear aaron years come out and say i frigging love this organization have you. When's the last time you said that. I mean he did not want his side of the he wanted. He like he really wanted to be a packer forever but he didn't know if it was possible obviously given what they've done you. Did you notice what you just said. And he said that you're at hey. I want to be a packer forever. But let's go back to what nick sabin said about. And in buckeyes right. Yeah it ended but scituate. Yeah i wanna be. I wanna be a packer. And i want to be one for life. Am i'd love it here. And i'm never leaving but there was the all i want to be a packer for life. But and you know what the but means. He transferred it to the other to the management. I wanna be a packer. But meaning i confess and i understand where he's coming from so i'm really anxious to see what happens here and if there's something that comes out and is it. The leflore thing is that the front office thing is it. The money thing is you know. Put himself in. Position is he. Is he still keeping score about you. Know when he first got there into the jordan love. So i think there's a lot of i just don't know there comes a point in time. You gotta fisher cut bait. And they've been fishing for a while. I wonder if this is finally the one where the superstar. Mvp is actually playing somewhere else and you find you decide to move the third year guy in now that you drafted. And that's the reason he was forced out any hasn't played any significant time on the practice field. In jordan love interesting. We'll come back our number. Three big fifty big night by kevin puerto junior man. Dan we on credit yes. We're going to give it to him now. People up at around having your coffee. Give his credit about that astro series as well as much more talk on the draft. And did you like it and these quarterbacks and who got the best gig out of these quarterbacks it's sports talk seven.

"The best receiver if he's on a team that's got kind of guy or system but you know what they're gonna wanna do in cincinnati and zac taylor is gonna wanna throw it around a little bit Get borough healthy. I'm gonna say chase. I'll say he has the biggest impact. I guess the easiest pick in for for. I feel like they're just going to let berlin a rip like just go in here and just slinging all over the yard. If i'm gonna lose. I want him to get more experience. You know we're not going to be. They started to be competitive a little bit. They gave some people some fits when he was healthy. Why not cut it loose. And let's get him another year of experience of getting back to trust is. Is you know rehab left knee. And let's go man. I i got no problem with it. Getting bad thunders. Picking up sean. Tyler's go on the second. i'm surprised. well it's not there so we'll just have done and fees are you. Are you down your leg right now. No i'm not be relax. Just make sure make sure. I mean you're scared the fear i could say i can hear the trouble in your voice. That lightning's gotcha day coming through the building. You're safe which you got so a lot of people are saying that there was one absolute reach during the draft last night and it was alex. Leatherwood To the raiders. At number seventeen a lotta people said they did not expect when they talked about all the alabama people who could go in the first round. He was very rarely brought up. They were thinking more of a second. Do you think this was the biggest reach. And if not who is the biggest reach full. I think that the saints and i don't think it's a i don't mean it. Local the saints are the he wasn't widely known that peyton put did turn. It was going to be a first round pick right then. You didn't start hearing that until like the late. He was a late charger. No doubt so. I don't know we can look at a of say depending on who they had even though the guy. Maybe we'll take the tennessee titans with farley while a great player i think the risk factor makes it a little bit of a reach. Because you just don't know but he supposed to be a great kid and a hell of a football player will see his back but with the leatherwood situation about guys when we're doing our show. I got a twitter message from somebody wanted to know. Would i think what the raiders were going to do. And i laughed as raider fan forever. I said he said who do you think they're going to get. I said you really want to answer that. Basically as i paraphrase have no idea. It's the raiders. it's raiders. They do this every year every year if they have multiple picks in the first round or what one of the guys is going to be like Or is that really the best player on your board. Compared to everybody else's could you have got him in the second round or traded up in the second round to get. I mean what so. We're i do trust as i trust saving. I trust alabama gay. But i think if he would've changed his name to play there would he'd pride didn't even higher from dear god but they it's leatherwood just sold. That is one of the best. I was thinking last night. I can roll down damn near this whole draft and give you a dad joke for every player same day. So you on that here. Being the i'm telling you. I mean it. It's it's pretty good and i was actually surprising myself. Yeah so pleasure would jumped into the first round and became leatherwood. Have you ever had a pleasure jacket. I guarantee tyler house. Oh hiking guarantee. I haven't right. I've had leather. I'm more of a hoodie guy. Yeah but i could see you in a plethora school members only jacket. You're one of those fighter jackets. But yes yes. He's maverick and goose over. See that tyler also might be might be the guy. The wears this high school letterman's jackets to the club. Oh hell no you go to the marne here. We go after shopping saturday on a sunday. When you're watching. The falcons got falcons hat on. And you're wearing your letterman jacket with your like wrestling. Patch on their your football patch. And your bitch patch if your letterman anytime after you graduate high school. I judge you so hard. You'll go heart autumn judge hardware there. Letterman still yeah. But i i've never had there but i guarantee like tyler i if you go buy a couch would it be leather of flatter. Would you get. I'd be leather. You would you. Would you wouldn't get the plateau where you stick to it when you're wearing shorts and pulls off two layers of skin when you get up when you've been sweating playing video games in front of like you know everybody's done in their life. No saturday got tagged it high-class right the finer things in life man. Yeah so my raiders. The internet guys If we're using the term of value pick. They took him for sooner. I put it this way. I don't think he'd have gone in the first round if the raiders wouldn't have taken him how's that is that answer the question A reach probably. But i'm going to judge his play after watching him. Because i trust savings process. But i hope leatherwood plays leatherwood and everything's good. You feel me. you don't feel me do you. On the shooter yeah. That's a no good. Yeah the law down that. don't go. Watch a wilson phillips concert because you could get lanced honestly could by somebody and that would be the pits. Ninety sports doc. "I listen to you. That is all. That's just filling in just johnny backup. That's all hey we're bark you awesome. I appreciate it. I wanted to say man. I i like to stick with trae lance. It was a good sided. Pick because see what. He's the quarterback for the future. Garoppolo is all in all the good green bay. How crazy can you get the data. They wanna beat. I understand he's a mvp. He's a franchise everything not only. Could you get the number three pick. You could have got garoppolo to bridge the number three p. Which is probably would have been trae lance or jones. Whoever they want. I'm pretty sure who don't give out a ton of capital to go with it so now. not only. Do you get a disgruntled employee. Owned going sabotage. Everybody else you got your future lonzo. He's still love sitting in the wings. So i mean it's so many different multiple rage. You took this man. Could could've got aaron. Rottenness my top brady. Paying for it to erogenous san francisco facing offense he kinda five they never even talked deal though. That's eight but you don't really know what winning on that conversation right allen they might say well we got three and they were saying we have nick bolsa to and we need this and i just got to be too expensive to experience but it it. This was a different draft if this was a little bit of a different draft meaning like if there was like this richness of kin miss defensive players. I would then say to myself. If i'm sitting in green bay. A short drafted jordan love. I'd moved that i take that three. Add move aaron rodgers san francisco. Bring me jimmy garoppolo. He now becomes the bridge gap for jordan love because a drafted jordan love to replace roger. The only thing now is going to replace garoppolo in the future. So i still by another year. I still got a veteran to teach him. I can now take that three. If it was a rich defense a draft so you can get like a big time all the edges went late around me a big time do so. There probably was no real value as far as green bay see sees it at three at three is only really the quarterbacks other than that what else is there and now you are could've traded that three picked up. Some more ones know. I would have fleas them. Know if i was green bay because air rogers if correct. Aaron rodgers is that ticked off. You got somebody like mustafa says whether it's directly or indirectly is now toxic in the locker room because he's their employers. No you don't want to be there. so why. Why do i want to be key as somebody who grew up as a raiders fan. You're rogers run the raiders. Because we will be cool. He would him and drawn cars. Cool cars good. Wow car probably only take you. So far where aaron rodgers might be able to take you to the end and i know i know jon gruden back tried to those weapons. He tried to figure it out. They got about six years left on the contract. But they're they're pick by the way at seventeen. Alex leatherwood the offensive lineman really tackle guard. Whatever it is man. He didn't even know. I mean old man when when they made that was loser of the draft last night. It was like a disguise. You got him in a second round persona you a body language guy. Oh yeah so you could tell based on body language and everything. He was like his family like wait. What he can't even stand up here you know he couldn't even stand up. His home was like they look at each other. Like did they did. They say leatherwood lockwood. Mike in phoenix bike ahead by jump in here. Hey king i n j will just wanna say king big. Usc trojan fan from long beach. California i love playing with the trojans man and i just wanted to throw that out there but My question do you guys is what. The heck are my raiders. doing again. Two years in a row are net and feral and now we got this guy named leather wood or something. It's just like. I'm just confused on. What my raiders are doing. It's like i thought we were going to go. You know chairman more rig or are we going to go with that. Awesome guys notre dame coach. Parsons went to the cowboys is like what. The heck are my raiders. Doing guys derek. Jenkins i don't know i don't know what they were doing from a defense standpoint. Because they signed coat miller back. He's eleven tackle. So i don't know what leatherwood is gonna play for maybe moving right. Maybe he's a gore for you. I i don't know what mike mayock can. Jay grew. Jon gruden is thinking about or seeing. I i really honestly. Don't all will be forgiven. If they get aaron rodgers we all see on that. but you know what is all forgiven as the bears. Move up get a quarterback. Let's get reaction out of chicago next.

"You remember a couple years ago when they had kind of underachieved they went and got like Marco belly and like Ilias over whatever and the numbers with those guys on the court were unbelievable because Ilias would stay in the corner and would shirt floor they're obviously not good enough but it was just the theory of, Hey this isn't rocket science here how about I go and I have jj Redick, Jimmy Butler, and another guy that could shoot the idea that out brand went in the off season and. Said these are guys and I guess, you thought our who's going to be your power forward and that that would be good together because surely you didn't spend that kind of money on a backup center and then you saw Tobias Harris and thought this is a good I mean it was doomed from the start. It's a bad fit and it doesn't make a ton of basketball you gotta I. Tell You this. If I had been simmons I'd flanked him with four shooters, and if I had Joel Embiid, I'd flank him with four shooters and if I had both -able I, sure as hell with three shooters like this is that. Sometimes, you ain't got to think too hard on this stuff and. I mean that is a absolute debacle and I know Brown's taken eating maximize it. He didn't do a great job but on the other hand, that's a bad mix guys to try to get the win with for sure I mean I pick them to go to the files before the season because I expected their defense to be even despite potential offense struggles I thought their defense would be dominant little lead with Simmons with Horford you know getting back healthy. But it didn't happen. This was not a dominant defense at all despite Simmons bead being who they are. HORFORD has not gotten back to being the guy that he was before Richardson was not the same level that he was in. MIAMI This team did not get the contributions they needed across the roster on defense and they also seem like a disconnected defense obviously, we know about their struggles on the road With Philadelphia men, they need undeniably a guy who can create off the dribble from the perimeter not Simmons Ben Simmons is your guy who is just a major weapon in transition who's a major weapon in the half court attacking off others of short roll pick and roll. But you don't have that point guard who can do that for you. Josh Richardson did not get better from what he was in Miami. He got worse as a Ball Hammer. He got worse as a shock creator do not shoot the ball as well as he did. They haven't been able to find that other guy tried to out with Netto at Burke with Alex burks didn't work out with any of them but they gotta find somebody of said the same of bunch and I'm obsessed with the idea of Chris Paul for them. Whether it's Paul or whether somebody else somebody in the draft, they gotta find that guy who and create off the dribble in the half court enable in order to both space to floor when Simmons and embiid habits but also create for those dudes. Simmons. Also needs a actually spot up and shoot threes. He didn't before he got hurt he didn't do it enough and I'm I'm still occupants he can do it effectively with embiid. And Simmons it can work. It's just hard to build around those guys. This circles back to whether I'm right or whether I'm wrong about it. It's why I ranked. Ingraham ahead of Simmons in the draft to him, he's a hard guy to build around you gotTa have the right pieces you got to have the right pieces to build a get round a guy like that especially when he's on the same roster somebody like Joel. EMBIID. Is embiid himself also as a low thirty percent three point shooter in also is not somebody who rolls hard to the rim. He just doesn't. He just wonder if you waste years trying racing year noted on, say trying to do it and that we're GONNA come back a year from now Kev, and say since hard to build, they get a new coach they just hard to build around those guys they move they somehow find. A landing place for Horford and get you know whatever a quarter on the dollar just because somebody's taking on that contract maybe they find you know place for Paris or maybe they just keep Paris because they've got so much invested in him but they find a place for over and say man it still it's just it's hard to build around these guys now in fairness if I'm a Philly Fan I'm going we had it built. We lost the frigging last shot of the game to the team that won the championship and both of those guys walked away in free agency and you got me Shittier players like you had it. If you roll out there jj reading Jimmy Butler Ben Simmons a Joel Embiid. Now I got one other guy find another guy that could shoot the ball like I've got a team that could play for the championship for real and they had those guys and let those guys walk and then replace them with worst fits you know in in in Horford and and terrorists, and so it it clearly can be done. It can right kid we just saw it I know where they lost but I looked at that and said boy if I could run that back, take another crack at that especially with Kuwa- gone but they just F- that up they that up bad and the first sacrificial lamb is Brett Brown but I'm a Philly fans on this man you gotta clean that out. Those are those are unforgivable heirs to trade all that shit away for Tobias hairs and then give him the stupidest contract.

"Sixteen from three in the series a guy who hit thirty seven percents of his threes on the season the guy who has really been replaced in kristaps in that floor spacing big man role. Cleveland is somebody who is also struggled significantly on shots at he usually hits and could should theoretically be better moving forward like Paul George. So both of these teams can be even better if they get healthy with beverly and with us, and if they're struggling players, Paul George Star Cleveland a role player both also elevate their players higher ceilings for both of them. Well, let's say this on the Luca Front look going into the series I said I. AM prepared for people wanting to tear him down like they did Donovan Mitchell a year ago and I said I, I, suppose it's possible like if he goes off against this team, a team that has held Lebron James to it's his worst percentages all year, a team that has done this to all manner of stars because of their elite level perimeter defenders that they can throw at you and you know that in the playoffs, not a one off so. Everybody's trying to make your life miserable, right And the fact that this kid has got like it's not like he is. Up to his season standards, he is so far for surpassing his seasons. Really is like mortal Gavin like. I watched that game just in absolute auto of this guy. At, forty, three, seventeen, thirteen. Against, that a twenty one point comeback victory against that team. Against that team real, I mean a team that I said has helped Lebron James the Great you know the greatest player of this generation to his worst percentages. And this guy's going forty, three, seventeen and thirteen he is ju-. It's unheard of what he was doing there is though there's no amount of praise I could heap on this guy because that was not to mention the ankle sprain two nights before looked terrible. Yeah I mean it was a full turn to where he was hop- by the way. quicktime out what the hell was he doing hopping. The three hundred yards, it seemed back to the locker room during that like kids somebody can he put his arm on somebody's shoulder or do we get in some way like the guy hopped on one leg all the way back to the locker room like forever away was Nana's But he comes back. You know he can't be a hundred one hundred percent and was just out of his mind and there's part of me that thinks, wow, look what he's able to do and the clippers have no answer. There's another part of me that says, Bro, he had forty three seventeen at thirteen. He had to win the game on the last second shot. You'll look who is that kind of a game and has to win on a last second shot a guy who went against Kawhi Leonard. Who? Also. Drake game nine rebounds four assists great defense as always Lou, Williams of thirty six off the benches. Well, he went against some style competition here I made a video this week for the restart about the other guys on the mavs that's why it's really on my mind but. With Luca, like he is obviously the reason why they're in a position for an upset here but he is getting support though Trey Burke with twenty five points ten fourteen Tim Hardaway with twenty one point Seth Curry with fifteen points off the bench Bo bon the clippers can't seem to find an answer for playing bulletin off they can't seem to find the answer here they keep putting Harrell on him and he keeps her. Stop. You can't stop Boban Mariano ventricles doll he's eighteen. With a great attitude. I am going to be interested to see what type of adjustments doc rivers in the clippers make in this game. Though do you minimize Reggie? Jackson's minutes here concerned the amount of off ball errors. He's making leaving shooters open making bad rotations over committing over helping, which is opening cuts and shots. Odd. Are you gonNA change their and maybe shorten euro tation? Are you gonNa Start Changing what you? Do and Bowl bonds off the Florida play him off. The court is Paul George GonNa get actually get going here. Looked at this week. George obviously is struggling he's been horrific and a lot of it is self inflicted but all of it is Dorian Finney Smith has done a nice job on him. Kidd Gilchrist has done a good job in mimics. Cleveland has done a good job as well. Is there something the clippers can do to get him going maybe more off ball because a lot of what he's been doing a lot of his struggles have come on ball is missing his spot up jumpers as well. But I do wonder if maybe there's some, run him out some screen actions getting towards the rams and lay opportunities just to get him going get them in a rhythm it he could take. These guys off the dribble like he took them off the dribble, the land at the very end of the game. He missed the little layup that he had. Yes. But like broke, get the ball and go to the damn basket drive on people gift filed go to the free throw line, get yourself in a rhythm like he's just there's seven minutes where you're just I don't even know he's in the game. It's crazy like impact the game I i. don't I can't let this guy off the hook and the other thing when you said Reggie Jackson. Book I don't WanNa bag co I to bed. You can't get switched off that easy. I'm sorry I get it with the house leaving. That happens in the Hanalei terrible coaching decision not co is and you see Dorf at look they're trying to get him off a James Harden. He fights through that day. He slips that thing all I don't understand what the clippers are doing in that situation I don't understand how your decision in the huddle is the have Reggie Jackson who they want on Luca. Who they want that instead of having a fight over that screen which he could've he absolutely. Led, him run to adamant of Maxxie beats me fine. V. Three beats me maximum of who say one three pointer in the entire series and came to find the net. Right. That was very, very, very puzzling I do not think the clippers will end up losing the series I think we'll look back on so they could. They could I mean look better for votorantim without paths nothing's off the table. And they're not getting back. It did not sound like doc was after that game. He didn't sound very positive at all, and then I checked his comments yesterday and it was I don't expect to get him back and again much like we talked about with Westbrook when I said Hey, this really concerns me. Like and it's the difference between the Luke thing and these guys which is Luca could go and you can. You could pain relief the thing you can also stick it in ice for the amount of time you've got for the forty eight hours you've got you can get that swelling down and you can manage that when it's muscles when it's your quad when your hamstring and in I think Bev's case it's a it's a quad, right? All right. it's a calf actually any of those muscles that's just time there's no amount of treatment you can do. There's no amount of ice massages like all you're trying everything but in the end, you've just gotTa wait for the Muscle to heal enough to be able to play and so e may not. They may not get him back and that's very troublesome for them. You sign time he was on the bench, they're using the the the vibrator Oregon. On a soda on on the vibrator on. US I don't think they were using a vibrator on. Great. Forgotten man for a minute. How All right. Let's move to the team. So we those are the great series that we have. Let's move to the what the teams that are on life support. Okay. This Denver thing. IS UNBELIEVABLE LIKE UTAH is down. Bogdonovich we knew that going in I really thought that Denver is exactly the type of team that can expose their lack of depth because what they bring off of the bench is it's just not good enough in my mind, but the truth is you can run these starters out there playing big minute and Donovan Mitchell and Rudy go bear and now Mike Conley. Free and his Kinda it seems like he's now gotten a chemistry with Gobert that did not exist. Prior to you've got you've got this thing home along and. That Denver Defense.

"You know I I feel like he's not a guy of watched defensively hell of a lot of I didn't watch Knicks basketball and you know he's been in and out in Dallas I was sort of impressed look I don't I don't think. I think they're gonNA win the you know the sort of Ben Wallace Rim Protection Award but. He gave him a lot and they have Cleveland Porzingas. Now, that's a pretty good rim protection duo. And by the way, which is very well for their future because we know they're going to be a top three offense well. Let's Say Dallas is a series which I think they will I had clip prison six, I think maybe five. Day are set up so well for the future minus the two picks up to the Knicks, which is a little bit. It takes a little bit of equip the the ammo of their trade quiver but they I believe they can trade a pick pretty soon, a future pick like a two years away future pick. But. They have to to stars and like you can quibble his star he's really good and he fits really well with their star. Star and their star star is on pace to be like not one of these Jimmy Butler Paul George he might be the tenth eleventh US player in the NBA top nine in a good season. He's on pace to be top three in the NBA very soon a perennial MVP Kennedy they have all these role players unlike crazy good contracts seth curry to law right who I think it'd be an important piece in this series and was last night. Finish Smith. Cleber, I'm even. On and on and on like they just have so much flexibility they're going to have cap space. They are very sneakily in position to become a real team to be feared for their one move away and everyone's going to say guidance if they get you on a slow like let's say that from the day it's an APP to be honest it could be at any top thirty player in the NBA. They are. They are in position to be really really dangerous for a really long time pending capeeze health. We'll, and you just said it I mean the beautiful thing about which is it doesn't have to be another. It doesn't have to be a super team what he does to elevate frankly mediocre NBA players to a level of. You know. Above decency. Is Alarming and by the way can I just say for and I'll have to say it every once in Awhile I grew up in Atlanta Hawks Fan. I'm just the agenda I just can't freaking under I mean. I'm saying no more Zach I'll say no more I just might. Want to see that traders a win Gina is good. It's not a win. It's now it's not your job the figure out who the generational superstar is right and I mean I get it and I understand was good. Poetry is good. Good he's not this now and people want to say well, Lucas just as bad defensively astray here's why he's not because he's six seven on A. rebalanced and he can switch onto lots of different people. trae young is like is like whatever it doesn't matter. I'm not wasting time on the high. Good luck in the Lottery Hawks Jamie Gerczew delight I interviewed you yesterday I hope and Jamie Kurtz wins the freaking lottery because she's a legend. I do to do my listeners who Jamie Gertz is does anyone under thirty Jamie Curtis because they well should and she is a delight and she is an actor and she is also married to the owner of the hawks. Which I guess makes her the owner of the hawks. I don't know how to navigate that I. Don't know. It's it's hard to know by the way. Are you too young squarepants. Square pegs. That is. A Sitcom for like twenty seconds on CBS like in the early eighties. It had Sarah Jessica, Parker and. Jamie Gertz. All right now did not did not not aware of it wasn't aware of it. Love Love Square becks. My only thought on this series is. You can you can see Colli starting to starting to solve some problems of his own and I think they're trying to run these like Reggie, Jackson collide Lou Williams pick and rolls to get him switched onto smalls in. Dallas is not giving him the switches they're hedging and trying to recover and Kuwait the weakness of his game. If there is one is like he's not a great playmaker on that situation where he's at the three point line and the floor is kind of in flux and there's no easy pass for him. He tends to reset and let Dallas reset the matchups. Now he started punishing it a little bit even when they didn't switch late in the game. CLEVELAND. Is trying hard. I just I haven't liked that assignment for him I think y looks incredibly explosive. He'd get a lot of separation from Cleveland anytime he wants in. A. Little bit more they'll dug into some better looks now Marcus Morris estimate threes they're not guarding Marcus Morris at all. The other thing is the beverly injury is I think we're talking about because you know it's more of these other guards that our our offense I ball dominant guards in Lou Williams is really could three times a year Reggie Jackson I could take leave but like beverly just a better fit I, think when when both of the stars are on the floor so as an example for the season. Lou Williams usage rate when. Both of those guys, Paul. George Choir off the floor thirty, four percent of clippers possessions when they're on the floor, both of them, it drops the eighteen percent, which is role player and like Lou Williams role player. It just doesn't have a lot of value Patrick Beverley role player has a ton of value. Right because. That's the thing with Williams is the less you lose them off to us him offensively, the less value has relative to his defensive liability and and also I. Just Love Beverly off the ball. I love it. He can initiate and be crafty. I. Liked it. He you know he's actually i. think a better passer than people realize. And obviously defensively mount look. Against Anschutz, it's tough. And he guards a bigger guard as well as any little guard, but it's still a little guard on a big. You know the clippers left a lot of money on the table even if the margins and you know like, for instance, they didn't convert transition yesterday like not like, I think they were. Be a little over a point per transition possession like okay. I mean I I think this is where if you WANNA play the much the shot quality game but you know is this a festering problems or is.

"Ben. Foca cleaning the glass which looms large for what is setting up to be a pretty epic second raw despite the absence of Gordon. Hayward which I think could really hurt Boston I i. I'm so psyched for that matchup. One thing. It. something. In my notes on the Celtics one thing about the bucks and other low hanging fruit thing they can do is don't sit down as the Middleton at the same time they do it for a few minutes every game and they lose those mets routinely a thinking about how Boston has done a pretty good job staggering tatum and Kemba, and when they have all four, their best perimeter players who they're pretty diligent about keeping two of them on the floor at the same time to make sure the offense has some creation Boston's been amazing. He's been awful. It certainly doesn't have the vibe of a series that will turn. It in fact, it has the vibe of a series that would go the other way peter out into a sweep. I picked Boston and six, which was like as optimistic as I could get about Philly. And I don't feel good about it going to six. We'll see what they do on tatum they tried to embiid blitz once I think in the second quarter they'd said we got a blitz this guy You know maybe they'll try some gimmicky stuff. Let's go to. Let's go to what I think maybe has the chance to be if the rest can stay the hell out of the way the most entertaining series of the first round, which is Clippers Mavericks. The Clippers behind a mon- I'm sorry. The Mavericks behind a monster effort from their bench last night Seth Curry Trey Burke and ball by and smashed the Clippers in game two. It's one one day survive Luca foul trouble. They almost survived a freaking horrible objection to kristaps Porzingis in game one. Dallas is just good and they're just they're just a really good team. This is not any I. still think the Clippers win this year's they have some matchup advantages that are that are pretty hard to do. It looks pretty quiet. Looks Great But Dallas is good. What have you seen so far? I WanNa talk about the clippers defense. I want to grade them on a curve because there obviously anybody who pays the Dallas team should. They employ switch defense by and large and I completely understand the thinking particularly with his personnel. You've got a like a bunch of like-sized guys. I wonder sometimes and we I know we're in the switch era. If the some extent, your forfeiting the benefits of having lockdown guys 'cause I. What I'm watching is at times is Lucas got a menu right I mean Paul George started on him for a little while in the second spent some time you know and he'll get a screen, forty, two feet and all the sudden. It's the Reggie Jackson Lou Williams you know if it's A. Zoo botch show and I know there are no good alternative because if you go with the base defense that fights over sends baseline, you're going to be helping for days and that's not good either and so maybe the answer is Hey, man that you there's nothing to do but I I, just feel like right now there's is good as Luca is there's more chaos behind the action there should be if you're the Los Angeles Clippers and you, you should be a vaunted defense and you know even like the pick and pop porzingas. There was a pick and roll with Bobo, which is beautiful but watching trae Burke Hunt Lou Williams. Know. Like it just. And he'll like feel they're getting whatever mismatch they want or whichever mismatch seed, and it's like if you have this base defense and I'm I'm talking to someone who covered the raptors last postseason I don't think on balance. The clippers should be any less than the raptors defense last year and I don't like they're getting the match ups they want and maybe look lucas a genius I can't even believe that a guy this young is able to see the personnel in real time against a defense like this and say yeah I'm GonNa. Get exactly what we want but I just it's a question I have sometimes about I understand Houston. I. Understand Golden State through the years. I. Just wonder it's still a debate I have I don't know that they're wrong. I'm just starting to kind of. Testing faith a little bit. Well, it's funny. You can see them thinking about do we want to start possessions with Marcus Morris on Luca because they're going to set a screen and we're going to switch? Is it better to end up with Kobe and PG Luca or start out with choline PG, Luca end up with Marcus Morris switching. Sometimes you mix it up and just to sort of throwback off like we we saw on the jazz series they put Jon Morgan on Nicole Yokich for practice sessions just to just to see what happens. But to your point, Luca is becoming the preeminent non Lebron problem-solver. In the NBA like you see, you show him a look one time and he's got it figured out. So as an example. So the Mavericks are being very smart when zoo boxes on Porzingus when the match of the clippers do not want but porzingas guarding robots and so when they get a stop zoo bottle often be stuck on porzingas they waste no time no action it is an immediate Luca kp pick and pop and. You don't WanNA switch because. Luca and particularly just lethal against which is third one possession early in the game where they switched and they had zoo bots odd Luca Luca drove and drove into the lane, and then drove back out right which you often do when you have a big man on you because now you can dance with them. You can do little fun stuff. You can choose your step back three over him. When he drove back out, the clippers were clearly ready for that and had Marcus Morris shift over from the wing and Skram. Bats out of that matchup up and it was like a very interesting because you typically see that scrammed switch in the post and the clippers ready to do it on the perimeter that happened once because Luca never did that again, the whole game once you saw that switch, he just drove right into it and it got to the line or shot a layup he is. The way he's keeping his dribble alive and changing pace and just changing angle with a live dribble. It looks like they have nothing and then suddenly they have something because one of those little fidgets. Ju triggers a rotation somewhere and he sees it so fast. It's almost like he knows what rotation he's going to trigger with each of those little fidgets and like the Clippers Defense Dallas scoring one hundred, twelve points per one hundred possessions in this series that's four below their season average. The Clippers defense is actually holding them to a manageable figure. Their offense is just so good like this is just a historically great offense team, and by the way they've been even better with Luca on the bench because their bench guys are hidden everything they throw up I just think. There's only so to your point about this is not a size in defense league it's an offense and shooting league I. Just think there's only so much you can do against Dallas. Their offense has reached that level where you're going to have to outscore them because there's only so much you can do. Yeah this great story about luke in terms of the savant he sees something once So in meetings, sometimes they'll play this game. They've been doing it for a couple seasons. I guess where? The staff will put a play on the whiteboard not identify. and. It might not be something they've run since November right and they like which is this like Luca almost one hundred percent of time if the guy who answers it and sometimes the answer with the the play call from the previous season 'cause they'll switch up the sort of call and like he can do this at just one command and the level of. I I don't wanNA use the word genius, but there's just. There is a savant quality that is that is incredible. They're you know the clippers. I think great. Looks in Game One I think game too was better and I think when you have great isolation players, it's easy to fall into that trap and this is where we talked about. BOSTON, they do it so well paid him. I I know Paul George can be super human at times, but you know I don't need to see him launching deeply contested to. Four seventeen months I mean that's a lot of the game just comes down to they didn't have enough support, but they also they didn't get great looks and and this is not a great defensive team you know. But I, thought I thought is gave the mavs a lot inside.

"This will never be an offense that's purely designed around that particular tool and I just think it speaks well of them not just the coaches of the guys to buy in to totally be comfortable with it can but it to know that. Okay. Yeah. I know you've been high pick and roll. You have been the focal point in an offense for seventeen years long you've been in the League and. It's going to be a more. It will be. It'll be a catalyst, but it won't be the whole thing and I just I'm really getting into the Celtics well. The difference in ball handling between the two teams it guys who can hurt you off the dribble is so stark and again, Ben Simmons is playing now Ben Simmons can't shoot refuses to shoot Blah Blah Blah. So his ball handling takes like twenty twenty percent less effective in the playoffs but. They are just torturing the sixers on defense. They are finding matchups they like and just eating lunch and dinner and killing them, and so they just keep running this play where they'll run. Kemba. Walker. Office staggered screen with Thais as the last greener and the first screener is whoever has a slow defender that Campbell is GonNa? Destroy. Sometimes, it's the game what it was Horford last night it was harassed and they got a switch and Kemba goes to work. And these jump shots were him are layups. He's just getting layups because embiid is not gonNA. Come out. They're falling way far behind these screens or dusting Tobias Harris with fakes little fidgety Kemba things, and he walks into these jumpers where he can extend his arms and legs all the way out. He could starfish and you wouldn't hit a defender anywhere ds much space and they're just they're just finding ways to get everyone involved on the flip side the sixers. CanNot punish Kemba. Walker at all I mean, that's the weak link on Boston's defense. That's where you should guide your attack if you can, and they can't sometimes they're not even deliberate about it. They don't even try they have Josh Richards, they've come Bonn Jess Richardson sometimes you have to go into Josh Richardson to man game and try and get a switch try and get something, and they don't even do it and when they try to do it, it's like well, Tobias Harris Gets Kemba Walker on a switch well, guess what happens he takes seventeen foot runner and no one gives it because he gets to assist the game and he doesn't get to the foul line. In this case, you're right the tried one, but another credit to Boston there scrammed behind like. You know like when they when someone wants to hunt that mismatch is Boston is so cool. It just it just we'll make you like we'll Skram we'll quote the bump him out before the shots gets created and I just again another thing that Austin does well, on the margins you know way below the surface. They are the iceberg team. You know it's like you see ten percent of it. Ninety percent is below the water because they do so many of those things well. I will say. Look there's been Brett Brown buzz for two years now right and he's I. Think he's on another extension last year. I think Brits are good coach I think solving this puzzle would be hard for anybody. He clearly has not sold that I don't know that anyone would have by now but he hasn't. And I do think if I'm going to be fair and objective I think he coached a bad game last night and again that they almost had to wait maybe they didn't have to win but not going home and the way they lost it at demoralizing was. So demoralizing to that out to me. He just slept shake Milton out there to die on Kemba Walker for way way way too long and I'm taking running notes on all these games as I watch him except Nets Raptors you don't get any notes for that one. And in my notes are like. Kept Kimball Shake Milton is just getting destroyed, and meanwhile Marcus smart is over here to buy his harasses on. Jalen Brown. Josh Richardson is Josh Richardson is I'm sorry Josh Richardson is on Jaylen Brown Tobias Harris on Marcus smart like it was so easy to rearrange the puzzle pieces so that Josh Richardson would be on Kemba Walker as he was in game one, all it required was Tobias Harris Garden Jaylen, Brown. Now Jaylen Brown's a really good player who gets a little bit better off the dribble every year. Right but he's still a straight line player mostly he's still a straight line attack guy he does not strike fear into me quite yet attacking Tobias Harris. At a standstill in a pick and roll in the half court if Tobias Harris is not good enough to take that matchup in the half court if he's in fact, so ill equipped for it. Did you have to shake Milton just die out there die on Kemba Walker. Then you ever structural problem that is in deeper than thought they waited way too long to make that adjustment and the other thing is I'm watching this game my. Favorite lineup for them in Game One was Alec burks Josh Richardson Matisse Table Tobias Harris. Joel embiid. I. Don't even think it platelet might have played a minute last night Alec Burston come into the game until they were eight minutes left in the second quarter. How will metal came in before him? I'm watching this game cooling Alec. burks news like did I did he get in a car accident on the winning or can even drive the golf? Only doing accident what happened Al I just I don't think bread press the right buttons last night I thought he pressed the wrong and that makes me sad to say because I do think he's a good coach but last night was not a good game. I mean to your point about Brown I mean Braun doesn't really mean he gets his offense on the flow of their office, right? Like he's not even a guy there's is a featured. Part, I, it speaks well of him right and he's able to generate offense on secondary actions and whatnot right? It's you know harass you have a guy like Harris because Theoretically that size that body that skillset hey, he's a he's a one or two through four Gyn probably can tread water at the five know against a certain teams but yeah. I look I'm probably a little bit more charitable because I dislike what's He GonNa? Do I mean like I said I don't I don't think anyone else's puzzle by now and again an all NBA level player is not playing. That's devastating to any team. I thought last night to where a couple of pretty obvious things that were not done. And berks wasn't great last time he had a wonderful is one of eight. You'd WanNa be but like. You Know Look Philly for the affiliate in the playoffs to sixteenth in threes and there's only two games and twelfth and shots at the rim that by the way not GonNa win nine total fast-break points. For a team that doesn't shoot Khanjani that stuff you just need a little octane you gotta again eat at the margins and they had one fast break point in forty eight minutes one. In Boston has the best transition defense in the league according to our friend..

"The whole playoffs there I don't even know how the blazers are like macgyver ring these games, how they win these frigging games. But this is a long term trend now and it's not just luck in I. Think to win the championship the Lakers need Rondo back as crazy as that sounds, and they need to tweak rotate all that I even like I was watching. Game One. I even I even went as deep as like. Could they give Markeith Morris's minutes to Jared Dudley like Jared Dudley will at least like for all Dudley whatever he's not GonNa help your defense very much. But he will get the ball moving on offense and he will shoot threes like I. Just don't know what the purpose of Markeith Morris's on the Laker I. Mean He's tough. I guess I just think like they have no the lack of a second ball handler is so glaring when. Caruso. Is Not in the game and they have no identity when Lebron sits their offense they have never figured out how they WANNA play other than give the ball the ad maybe he gets wwltv maybe doesn't if he gets double team that gets kicked like Kentavious caldwell-pope on a pick and roll that is going to end with an eighteen foot fadeaway jumper that makes you puke. I just. They just have never figured out how to play without. Lebron. They're going to be I think they're going to be fine but this is not a two game five game blip at this point, this is like a something might be happening here. Are, we as worried about the box. Well is there. Let me just secret today I want to say about the Lakers. This. Are. The Blazers are blazers are awesome. Damn is awesome by the way. No regrets about my Damian Lillard fourth-place MVP zero regrets I got Bill Simmons demanded a public apology for me. I will not apologize I shall not I shall not apologize entre bucks. Bucks Magic. What in the freaking Blue Hell happened in game one, the Orlando Magic by accident by accident because Erin Gordon's at your Michael Carter winters injured Jonathan Isaac Singer Demo Obama's injured. Are playing shooters all over the floor. Markelle Fultz is like the only on shooter they're playing and Kim Burch who comes in for fifteen minutes of the game and all of a sudden they're kind hard to guard in Milwaukee was like what the hell happened and the magic made nineteen threes in one game one. I am not in this series I'm not worried about the bucks. Okay. The bucks are going to win this series the magic if the magic win this series. It would be the biggest upset an MBA history. I don't think that's going to happen. But there there have been I've been a little lower on the Buxton can than the numbers all year I said I'm going to pick them together the east but I think they're going to have at least one if not two. Backs against the wall or to whatever series I don't think they're gonNA roll I did not expect this I think there have been simmering issues under the hood. You are a bucks allergist I'll just ask you are you worried? I'm. Not Worried. And I wrote this the other day they've got some custodial work to do. There's a messy crap out there I. Mean I'm watching you know in the third quarter you know right is the bucks are finally mounting run order is about to be restored in like terrence Ross on the weak side is curling off like a screen and catching a pass on the move from from Augustine and just wide open space going in for the slam in the half court and that cutting. Back. Up and bodily forty five seconds later, Zach. Terrence Ross Curls Office stagger screen. This time on the right side of bloor catches a pass from four foot eleven, DJ Augustine without a dribble. Honesty really. By the way, I short man that's not a ridicule on this team like he's playing against the longest vaunted long defense and arms and legs all over the place. And, and you know for about five six minutes at a time he's controlling the game. What is terrence Ross who's supposed to be standing or sitting in a lounge in the corner? That's what he does. Right like like he's getting beneath your your long. We can span the Atlantic Ocean or Lake Michigan Defense, and it's just like it's inexcusable I love the bucks. I. Love Watching the bucks come on guys like it's absolutely inexcusable you were being. I understand they're GONNA teams they're GONNA get out? In transition, certain? Nights. You are the best transition defense team in the league with, but still they're going to be weird bounces. This isn't weird bounces the other day this an a look at the shot quality. Now they scored one, hundred, twenty, two points, the Orlando Magic. This is a bad offense of team. and. This was half court. Just screw I mean it was absolutely terrible and and by the way it's going to get better like I'm not I'm not worried but it's just like there should be a measure of self pride and I'm sure they wanted to film room or establishing that. Part I watched that sequence and I'm like. I again to the extent that one wants to say, they are not as good as their numbers. That's exhibit A. N. B.. Well I. Did think their defense was bad. I. Thought Their communication was bad I thought when they started switching late in the game because of its was just torturing them and they were confused to know what to do. They're switching execution was terrible. BLEDSOE BLEDSOE's. Havoc wreaking rotations have not been as fascinating. This is a guy who can stunt one direction pick up another guy switch back to his original guy he was doing that like ten percent more slowly. I. Thought in Game One again he's recovering from the coronavirus I mean this is like the thing that nobody wants to talk about, but it's a thing with a lot of players. forty-eight hit an open three at out of those kind of scramble plays. But the bigger picture issue under defense was it took one game for shooting five to stress them out like that didn't really happen last year until Marcus soul and and even then that was like as much about co Ariza was about Marcus. And by stress them out obviously made, they want to plant Brook Lopez's in the paint and a pick and pop big can give them trouble and nickel Nicole of which of it absolutely torch them in the first game of this series. and part of those terrence Ross dunks was that Vukovich was often the facilitator and Brook Lopez didn't want to lean back off him to take away that passing lane..

"Anybody left in this draft? That it's not a competition thing. Is there anybody left in this Jack? They think or. They have graded higher than they had geared stadium right like if they had. Jacobson ranked higher than jeered. Maybe do that Jake from graded higher than they had geared system than maybe but I don't think they force it to one guy would say it would be jake from. Yeah I say last night. When they passed on the opportunity to add Jordan love he was the last guy in this draft that has as much or more talent than Jarret Stidham. So when you let him go. Now you're dealing with guys that you're GONNA have to be high intangibles guys and to me. There's two in this in this draft. Jake Frahm we've talked about and also jalen hurts going back to my time in New England. Both these guys that value system in New England there Jim Rats. Those guys are really hard to find winners their leaders you look at. Jalen hurts probably came into this process as a fourth round. Pick the more the. Nfl has spent time round this the more they bought into them so just from just from knowing what New England values at that position and a guy that might not have the same arm telling physical tools that Jarrett Stidham has because his very good. I'm a huge believer in Jarret. Stidham you're going to have to have some of these other things to compensate and the two guys that have them. Are Jake from in Jalen hurts. You know what's interesting to me? Their belief in jared actually started last year guys on Labor Day when they cut Brian Hoyer so last year with championship aspirations. They're going to season with Tom. Brady and a very small sample set on Jarrett Stidham. So not only do they believe in him last night over love but it goes back a year ago to just one preseason that he was their backup quarterback for me and I know Dan. It's GonNa be shocking that you and I actually seat backs a little bit differently. But his Jacob Jacobsen was being out by Jacob from Georgia. He went up to Washington. You have one good year. He's sort of the prototypical in the pocket quarterback he has to clean up his footwork his accuracy. I think maybe at the bottom of the second third round I like his upside and even though from has incredible intangible guys I agree with that. I just think at the end of the day from the fields can be condensed because he can't get the ball outside the numbers and that's why would separate eastern over from because at least at the NATO easing can get the ball down the field outside the numbers. And no matter. How smart how studious. And how dependable from is I. Don't think his arm abilities can be good enough mighty. I'm sitting here trying to figure out how you draft me because pounds. I'd appreciate how did you. How did you pass on the in the first round man listen Eastern has got so much physical intrigue you talked about the arm strengthen the in the New England tree so so to speak. I would say this. If the New England Patriots believed that Jacob off the field and in intangibles embitter ship qualities can match his physical qualities. Then they should take with the second round pick. I mean that's the truth is if they believe that those things can match the physical talent. Take Him with your newly acquired second round pick but that's a question that New England has to answer and Mike T. That wouldn't have been a question for me. Man I would have been. I would have been the same on on both levels okay. You're you check both boxes. He's still checking Mike. All right guys. Thank you very much more. An atom back with us our intrepid insiders as we look ahead to round two and guys speaking of which because it won't be long. What will you be watching tonight? And we'll start with the quarterbacks well with Jake from here. I think the expectation that I'm hearing is that maybe he gets taken into the third round. He had these great intangibles. Yes quarterback coaches fall in love with them but the physical skills is tantamount pointed out or pretty average. It's interesting. He has the distinction of tasting off to five star quarterbacks and both Jacobson and Justin fields but that was because Kobe smart the head coach at Georgia saw. He was a game manager. And that's why you step with some believe. That was a mistake at Georgia now. So Adam go ahead yours and more. You heard gymnast. He talks about jalen hurts elevating stockton this process. He came in as round pick. And I believe he's going to be going in the second round tonight. Just too many teams like the colts ever need. A quarterback steelers have need a quarterback. There's a lot of teams out there that need quarterbacks and I believe Jalen hurts elevated his value into the second round of this draft tonight. More definitely become an intriguing guy and you know. Let's talk about Jacob and I was a little surprised Jim. Nagy saying that the intangibles but listen He. Here's the prototypical size on the arm and some pedigree there because Tony since certainly played in the NFL but as teams have peeled back the onion. What they don't like is what they're hearing about his work ethic it does not meet the standard and will it ever meet the standard and so even in this off season leading up to the draft. So Jacob Beeson is intriguing on tape. I don't know that you've got glowing reports from Washington sap or even from the Georgia staff so I do think there are team. There's a team or to this as too much talent not to not to take a chance on and Moto's the rookie quarterback that could be in play tonight. The veterans who are on the trade bloc have been in play. And we'll be in play all weekend long. You Store Trent Williams. The redskins have been having negotiations with teams as of the Jaguars about Iana Godoi. But they have said that they are going to be unable to deal. Yana Gaga in their point in their mind now again. There are other veterans out there. Andy Dalton as a pricey contract number was insanity. Janaka gangways that guy. The Jacksonville doesn't think you'd be able to deal. I think of all the veterans the one. That's most likely to be dealt at some point. This weekend would be the Washington offensive tackle tremblings. He's the name to watch. He's the name to monitor the other players. The other veterans were time where some of them with the big money. They command like. Yana can. God where Matt Jude on. Whoever WOULD BE? They'd have to take a physical impassive physical. It's hard to get a physical. These days and teams are going to be leery about paying money at this point in time to players like that plenty of talent still on the board as we enter date to. If you're a prospect that was disappointed by last night's results. Consider THIS LAST YEAR. Second Rounders actually took more snaps last season then. Did those drafted I. I like it. Rex Who do you like tonight? I like Xavier mckinney out of Alabama one of the most productive players in the entire draft. It's hard to believe we still there. He ran a poor forty. Who Cares? Put the tape on. The guy is a tackling machine. He makes plays all over the place so I love the guy the next guy is and Anton Winfield. The all he is he's like his dad. He's short who cares not smalley short. But he's attacked another guy that'll tackle you. And he can flat run grading coverage he's got the pedigree both these guys are going to be stars in the League first year starters. I look at K. J. Hill out of the house state. You talk about a kid. That's been coach really well under Brian Hotline. And you find a team. That's looking for a slot receiver. Listen this kid can absolutely route you up in a team is going to like him tonight. Take him tonight and then add them to an offense and he will wear out the middle of the field and then listen jalen hurts one of the greatest stories that we've had come into the draft in a long time in his jury wrote a time in the NFL where it's about what you can do. Not What you can't do in put him on this team tonight. That run the ball really well believes has a good defense and man. You can add to your football team and just opened up a ton of new place offense. I like those players tonight..

"All right Dan Orlovsky looking glass half empty. But these guys have a major transition coming out. And everybody's got a flaw in their game. Let's look at what they're going to have to work on. And we'll start with Joe Borough. I mean we're going to nitpick here with Joe Borough big time right. Try to find something. I'd say this if you were going to say one thing that he does not do. Incredibly wealth is arm strength and so the reality of the NFL is the windows that you throw into smaller. And they closed quicker and so. How quickly does he adjusted? And then Greg touchdown this with you know throwing some guys that were covered open. We don't see that often the NFL. Not often you throw in four or five balls that are kind of opportunity balls downfield and guys are going to make every single one so how quickly it just to the windows and then how quickly he just trusting some guys in the NFL? That can do that because some guys you see. You cannot trust to do that and so that's going to be. I don't want to call it. A flaw that his biggest kind of growth. For to know thyself. You know to so many incredible treats and oftentimes those traits lead him to play a little bit too much like Russell Wilson. He needs to be more like drew. Brees where it's understanding listened scrambling not your strength. Running around is not your strength. Your strengths getting through progressions and getting the ball your hands. That will keep you safe. That's going to be the biggest growth for him just in her. I think we're now that the chargers have him daime to unlock and aggressive mindset for Justin. Herbert he needs to believe that he is the offense that he's the superhero of that offense. Not that he's just the quarterback so they've got to get him to be aggressive kind of trust the physical talents and physical traits that he has and believe in his mind. Make any throw and just be aggressive with the football and and and believe that you can throw people open and make the perfect throat. Because he's got so much talent but he's got to believe in himself a little bit more in his talent. Nfl Jordan love. Don't assume you know a lot of times. Quarterbacks get told. Don't predetermine where you're going to throw. The football. Never believed in that. You need to know where you're going to throw the football. Don't assume who you're going to throw the football too. And he would kind of lose his eyes because he would stare at one way and assume it was gonNA move certain defenders and come back in. Just throw the ball blindly right to linebackers and underneath coverage or safeties under underneath garbage. So he's got to get to a point where he listens to his feet more in place reactionary with his is rather than just assuming things going on with the defense so they all have their own flaws. They all have their own challenges to the coaching staff. That they're going to go to. And the biggest thing is how quickly those guys can minimize those flaws and maximize those strengths. All Listen Gregg Dan and got to weigh in on this earlier. But you weren't with us so I'd be curious what you thought about the decision by the packers to draft your love in the first place Jordan love. I couldn't be happier. I get a couple of years to just sit back and watch one of the best to ever do it right in front of me learning from him and tried to adopt some of the things that he's done into my game and frankly when you look at Jordan love guys have his highest ceiling as any quarterback in this draft as far as just raw horse power. He can throw it down the field. You can fit in tight windows. He's a better athlete than you realize. When he's out and about in the pocket however connell acquit. Dan Just alluded to when his feet are not underneath them and when he predetermined where he's going to throw the football and the coverage dictates otherwise he's an absolute disaster. The Guy has to understand. That are progressions and you need to go from one to two to three and allow your feet to talk to you. But when his feet are planted and they're stable and they're setting and he's decisive he might be the most impressive amongst all the quarterbacks in the NFL draft. Every quarterback has those head scratching interceptions. One that we all know you watch it and go. As soon as it left his hands he wanted that one back. We all know it and everyone has them even the great ones have them but the reality is that when you watched or there's just too many on them and I think that's why I would be a little bit concerned about how this plays out in Green Bay. One of the things really the best way to get better is to actually play. And if you just look at the next two seasons unless Green Bay just decides that they're going to trade Aaron Rodgers after this year which there'd be a massive cap hit with that. I don't know how you really know Jordan. Love is improving on some of the mistakes that he made a Utah State against really at all times. Low caliber you know opponents so I think that the adjustment while it can be a good thing to learn behind a great at the same time. You need to be out there in around. Live bullets the figure out and make some mistakes to to improve. I think that's going to be a challenge for them to my agree with that the reason why I do really like the fit though with Matt. Leflore in this offense is this. Offense is so predicated on in Greg. Used this phrase your feet tell you where to throw the football in talking about getting through progressions so often he would just like all right. That is going to be open and throw it and the offense to the packers are going to run his colleague. Shanahan Mike Shannon and Gary Kubiak offense where Jordan love is going to have those bad habits. Kinda stripped down and he will learn how to play quarterback really from the ground up rather than top down and so he'll trust his feet to tell him where he throws the ball and to Greg's point if he gets there that physical talent is so unique. Mike Tannenbaum joins us for the first time this afternoon and like pay when you think about Jalen hurts and you think about a good productive fit who stands out for me. It's easy. It's the Baltimore Ravens. He reminds me of a player that works. And I had in Brad Smith. Because he's so dangerous with the ball in his hands he could run it and he can throw it. He had thirty two touchdowns last year. People will remember at Oklahoma though. He also had twenty rushing touchdowns. Could you imagine the amount of pressure that Baltimore offense can put on opposing defenses? If he's in the backfield with Lamar Jackson in terms of two players who can run it and throw it. I think has a good skill set in terms of good foundation. He has to improve his downfield. Accuracy is accuracy overall. This year was pretty good at sixty nine point seven percent but my concerns or gain the ball down the field but Baltimore would be a great place for him to start his career. Mike you mentioned Brad Smith. It's funny because Brad Smith would have been coming out of college right now. He would have been a quarterback and not a receiver so to me. It's a that's an interesting comparison right there but I look at this guy. One thing we know about him. He is a winner. An absolute winner two-time SEC offensive player of the year. If I if I recall but when I look at them I think New England is a perfect spied. Look saving goes back that history with a ballot check and there's no reason why this guy can't get it done. Obviously he's GonNa do it a little differently his his his legs or a huge weapon and it would look different. But I don't want that he's a winner and I wouldn't be surprised if bill bell checks in the same way I am and he goes out and he drafts this young man. I'd see it at says. Seattle guys and it's because right now when you look at the backup quarterback situation for the seahawks it's a little grim and frankly Russell Wilson's been absolutely incredible staying healthy throughout the course of his career. But you put Jalen hurts is in a situation like that where he can learn from excellent quarterback in his own right and develop over. The course of time keeps them in the second round guys. I don't see it. I mean I don't see him contributing right away because frankly you mentioned him being more like Brad Smith. I see a more being Tim tebow winner. Yes absolutely physical absolutely very hard worker very strong very diligent unbelievable intangibles. All of those things are true but there's also very sporadic with his feet. His accuracy is very inconsistent and has ball and timing with the way he anticipates throws isn't always there so I think Jalen hurts is a long-term project that needs to be figured out and kind of learn under a great pro like Russell Wilson out in Seattle where it can be exclusively backup to add to add is. It's the action that the teach sets the floor and the character system ceiling. This Guy Los Appall. He's a great competitor as REX. Lou and I agreed. His game is far from complete. But it's a really good base to start with very productive at two different programs. He gets around the right coaching staff and if they could clean up this accuracy issue. You could hit big later on the strath with somebody like Jalen. Now Louis Riddick. Here Jim Nagy is here. We got a full house. Let's let's talk about winners from last night. Round one winners Mel. I'll start with YOU MINNESOTA. Vikings I think. Rick.

"GONNA sign the hundred million dollar contract just so you guys know. I'm going to look at this when you see CD lamb. I don't disagree. I think he's got what it takes to be a pro bowl. And you knew Wellstone Mike McCarthy to me when you're looking at this kid. When he came out I was thinking. This guy reminds me a Davante Adams because at the top of the route. He's so physical and he's such a competitor for the football and then by the way you can't tackle him his catches amazing. And when you put Gallup and Cooper on the outside who by the way the run bags decent and the office allies these this offense is GonNa be now. What are they gonNA do about pass rush? I'm not sure because I think what they're going to do. In a second round is take a safety but three top safeties in the draft are still available. So I think when you look at Xavier mckinney at Alabama delicate out of Lsu and then Antoine Winfield. Junior three three ball or sitting right there so this might be an unbelievable draft for the cowboys especially if they land one of these guys. It just warms about hard to hear. Y'All talk so well. Labonte Dallas cowboys cancels out here so much so much negativity surrounding by the fact that we got it right would see and we still got that. We identified and his brand that we could be a better team. Dammit if we eight years and I'm GonNa just do this is that's the thing we're just building you up so vacant. Let you don't want you to have a great to feel so good and bubble up a full. Expect this great offense and you guys are going to score tunnel points and still be sitting home with US watching the playoffs in the end. The cowboy's duty. Oh they're fans all the time but for one day or every guy. He was the captain. Notice you yeah. We're at Clark what this man has moment? Let let let Marcus for just a few fellas thank you as always. Lsu Let all schools five first round picks last night and according to Elias. That's tied for the second. Most in the first round of any draft history only the hurricane had more back in four also the first time in the common draft era that quarterback running back and wide receiver were taken from the same school in the first round of the draft and Lsu tied in fat loss who scored two touchdowns in the National Championship. Game could join his teammates as a draft. Pick before this weekend is over. And maybe you've heard about dad. He joins US now. Hall of Famer Randy Moss and Randy will certainly get to that in just a minute. But let's start with last night's number one. I know you got to see a lot of that. Is Joe Borough? What have the bengals found in their new quarterback? Will they had a Guy? Who's ready to take the bull by the horns and just come in ready ready to play. There was a lot of questions concerning Joe Borough throughout the season. Everybody's talking about his offense a weapons. How many guys he had to work with. But when I seeding First hand been out there throwing the ball being able to run a pro style offense how he moves in the pocket being able to keep the chains moving to keep the offense on the field. That's wild thing to Cincinnati. Bengals have found their man. I like all intangible guys and the the one thing that really stands out to me mates every body on the defense of where that he's on the field so he's going to get everybody office involved. And that's what I like him. This young quarterback man. I tell you why Randy this guy. 'cause Randi would tell me about how good this quarterback was and I remember. I can't be that good then. You watch him and it's like oh I never seen they like it. I mean it's well. I never happened in college football every the greatest year of any quarterback in the history of the game. But it's amazing. He can throw on time on time. His poison of pocket like Randy talks about this is unreal and they know sit back and he's so accurate the football this where he reminded me A. Tom Brady many puts that ball. Right under your Chin protects the receiver from collisions. He gives them a chance to run after the catch with it. The guys just amazing. And then by the way that speech if you're if you'RE CINCINNATI BENGAL. They got. They probably sold one hundred thousand. Jerseys Joe Borough on it and if they would have you know why mess that pickup gone with somebody else. Oh my gosh you forget about it but this guy is a perfect quarterback for the Cincinnati bengals. Well let me ask you this randy. Because borough going number one was expected we sort of do that leading up to this thing but then there were the packers trade up to draft a quarterback Jordan love. I think if no matter what you think about the decision it was a surprise What did you think about making the move for love? Instead of adding some help for their current quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Well it was kind of shocking to me as a fan of as an analyst to really see that Aaron Rodgers is still planning a high level and for them to really use their first round. Pick on a quarterback knowing what they have already there so when I look at the the Green Bay packers and bring in a guy like Jordan. Love is weeks. I don't know if we've seen the best of Aaron Rodgers but now that we know that competition is in the building as a football fan as as as a former player. I like what the Green Bay packers has done Like I said. I don't know what how better how much better Air Roger Stink but with them bringing your love into that building. It's going to light a fire up whether Aaron Rodgers. I look for big things coming out a great band at offense. I think I mean that's just human nature and we certainly know. Aaron Rodgers is a competitor. Let me ask you this. There was also the little matter of Henry Rugs. The third he went twelfth. Overall to the raiders. And I know you've had a chance to spend a little time with him so before you before I ask you this. Take a look go into the national football league. Hey soon back up here you WANNA work with the glove. That's cool with me the penalty just devil's island. Just let you know for. Every drop looks fiber starting off your professionals now. This college is over with if it's a weakness of what I see that means over the next week week and a half before you go. Doug need to home in on it before they know what I'm saying. All right so we got randy the hall of Famer Randy Randy the coach Rex. How do you do shoot? No surprise Randy was incredible. But you know it's a little different. This guy's got a little stroke to him. You know what I be because if everybody is seen him a first ballot hall of favor so rainy can go out there and tell them anything lineup backwards. They're going to do it. Fashion and I know ready. He could do it all. There's no question Randi you know it'd be a little different. They saw my tape. Nobody would listen to me. I thought he did a great job. And you just see those kids right there how they respond to metal bed. Yeah Randy could do anything no surprise but you know what he enjoys fishing too much for all the coaches out there. Don't worry he's not. He's not talking to me. What what does the raiders get in rugs? You see their reacting last night. They were thrilled with the pick. So who are they getting? Well think they're really getting a home redetermined very explosive and talented wide receiver. You know I think that this year's wide receiver class of for this year's draft is very very deep. I mean you're going to get steals. Lateness drap but when you look at the first receiver taking off off the board from Alabama when you look at the talented. They had on their roster. Rubs is one of the Oakland Raiders. Something that home run threat of what he's able to bring to this. Oakland offense with car at the quarterback just been able to get the ball in his hands. It's just to see what he did for Alabama Crimson tide. He was able to stretch the field. But I think that rubs most effective within the five to ten yard range where you can get the ball in his hands and make all eleven guys. Try to tackle this young man randy one more joked about the number of hats you wear but this week not a coach or an analyst but also a father I see. Wait for your son. Fads name to be call one. Has it been like for you? Not as a player this time but as the dad record wracking for me Wendy just being able to think back a million years ago back when I was going through this process and how emotional I was in the Roller Coaster. Takes you up and down throughout the whole weekend and as you can see the pictures of me and my my son just being a proud dad to see him reach ago of being able to play in the National Championship. Me Been able to play in the League announced. I got a a second-generation hopefully to be introduced into the National Football League so I think I'm about as nervous and jittery as he is but like I said God is going to just keep our faith in God and to see what he adds a store force I rack. Randy will be watching a best of luck to you and also to. Thad he gives something and you get something right so we obviously gave up a lot. We weren't in Las Vegas. We understand that but nevertheless the draft went on and what we did guess guys is to be inside some of these houses. You know with coaches and GM's we got to see families. We got to see people together. I mean a lot of it was cool so we're not going to do it best because everybody had on like casualwear but we are going to talk about where they were. Marcus what what did you see that she thought was interesting. First of all Jerry Jones only yacht was the biggest flakes. I've ever seen in my entire life out. Grab a drop in the ocean. And I'm corn taste better than anybody could ever corn team in the history of quarantine peasants do what? I won't draft from the ozone. Oh and then there was this well for me. It was Mike. Ray was the first thing that comes to mind. Do head somebody in a Fr- ozone suit and if anybody has ever you lose. And then his other homeboy a blonde mullet. I'm talking about like straight awful tiger king. This is what you want out of your bag. Your when you a grime me linebacker. And then he had to do they say he was on a stool but just for background purposes. We're going to continue to think where we thought last night might ray water winner. Bane bested Marquess B. Ability is the guy has a billion dollars and byles a ball bowl and drives it around with every day all the money that he's ever may from every paycheck he's gotten to the NFL. That's what this room says. The second thing is room says eaters. I don't try.

"It's good to have context but thankfully there are fewer team. There are fewer obligations to work with so I put together a little bit in that. So now we're going to fast forward to twenty twenty two. That is the the twenty one twenty. Two season then is what precedes that. That's what will determine the draft order. They're only three obligations. The clippers unprotected pick is going to the thunder. That is a really interesting year for the clippers because the summer before this season is the year that both Y and Paul George have their player option so they will both unrestricted free agency if they want to member. They timed it up. That way inquired case most likely partially to line up with Paul George but also because that means he has the ten years experienced that means he can get the thirty-five percent Max with anybody. So that's that's the you know the whether that is the clippers or somebody else so there is some certainty that year. Yeah I do think. The fact that the clippers had really started playing a lot better before the hiatus makes me feel better about them. How Old Will Cohen? Pg BE AT THAT POINT. The between the thirties so for the the the season. That's relevant here quietly. Thirty and Paul George will be thirty one basketball reference ages. So I think they'll still be prime enough. You know like I think it'd be there but you think about how the the advancement will still probably be there for quiet. I think that's going to be for the rest of his career and then another thing to remember for some of these circumstances this'll be exceedingly relevant for the next time we talk about. Is that the clippers. I think they're going to load up as best. They can this off season and so they'll have a lot of those guys under contract. That does two things one is that means it will be harder for them to change direction. If one of those guys leaves like they won't just have a boatload of cap space in science somebody 'cause they're going to have like let's say. Marcus Morris on the books or somebody like you know they'll they'll be residing there guys to be as good as they can for next year and so then they'll throw in some obligations but the but the other part is both they'll have some better players they're not gonNA tank you know they're going to have some they're going to have some good good guys on the books you know. Sham Ed. And Beverly and all that's episode. So you get that and then that's where that's really relevant is the pick that has a lot of intrigue in certain certain respects. Which is Milwaukee? This is the pick that they traded to Cleveland in the in the salary plus George Hill Trade. And that pick will go to the cavs if it's eleven through thirty otherwise it has set of protections movie as a set of protections moving forward and so- Milwaukee there okay twenty one twenty two might be thinking. Why does that matter well? That's the year the season that is immediately following when honest would be a free agent if he doesn't extend so that the books have all of their other players under contract. You know Middleton and Lopez. They resigned all those guys in two thousand nineteen. But if you're honest leaves it'll be kind of like Garfield minus Garfield brought that up before of it's like you know they're they have all these pieces that work around. Janas and the good veterans but they might be a little bit too expensive at that point So what they do then. I think they're still going to be a very good team. But there is a little bit of value there from Cleveland's perspective. Yeah I have a pretty unfounded hypothesis but I've just been thinking about it and that is just with so much uncertainty now in the world and just the feeling that we've gotten that like wow like anything could be taken away from you at any time. I think that we'll see maybe a little bit more conservatism from everybody in their daily life. I mean you know how like people who lived through. The depression are never throw anything away. And they're really frugal and get upset with you. If you waste anything that kind of thing maybe. This event could have a similar effect on our generation. And I don't know exactly how that would affect put my thought would be. Okay if you can get a five year supermax contract in a place where you've been pretty happy. Maybe you take it right by thought is that maybe he be honest to be more likely to stay in. Milwaukee now because of the switch me again. This is maybe delving. Too deeply into psychoanalysis. So I'm not GonNa say that I know this to be the case but I doubt it'd be a thought. I think that players will generally default more towards taking money earlier and staying in the same location. Maybe with the exception of like wanting to go and be at home a beer on family. Maybe that that could be part of this too whatsoever but another piece of context here that I think is for Cleveland analyzing the value of this pick is my firm belief. Is that if if Janas doesn't extend let's say he for whatever this offseason whenever that is he just says. I'm not ready. I don't WanNa do that. Whatever whatever the reason might be the. They're going to keep them. They'RE GONNA they're gonNA do the Durant durant that was a different circumstance because the financials but basically what they're going to say is we think we can convince you to stay and we'll we'll keep you on the books and if you maybe five forever. Maybe win the championship that year. I think they have a good chance. And we'll see work so now. How does that affect? How does that affect the Cleveland stance on this? Well I mean I think that increases the upside of the pick because the idea that they could lose them for nothing and then everything else fees and maybe they made some trades well but if they lose them for nothing than it probably doesn't convey because it's only eleven to thirty. Yeah I guess that's a possibility. I mean I would imagine that they would probably try to reload at that point. Probably got a lot of older guys you know they might look at moving Khris Middleton. Even we'll see it but let's take a quick break. We talk a little bit more about some of these further out obligations at and get into of which of these types of asses. We'd rather have so twenty twenty three twenty twenty two but it's I think it's I think it's the weakest of these verse specific reasons so okay see would send their twenty twenty two. I to the hawks only if it's if they make the playoffs otherwise it becomes two seconds so this is to me one of those. We're upside once yet. There's no chance it's a lottery pack. It's more likely that it becomes seconds to that point so I don't think it's I don't think it's as as great. I believe this was the the Carmelo shooter trade so I mean it's entirely possible that okay. So He's good enough to make the playoffs. It is worth noting. That is the year of Chris Paul's gigantic player option. So I assume he's going to pick that up whether it's with the thunder or with somebody else and also Casey. None of their other veterans as of right now this could change with gala. Nari or any number of other things are under contract. Stephen Adams will have expired by this. Point Gallo. All those guys so the thunder could look dramatically different in twenty one twenty two but if they missed the playoffs they keep the pick and if they make the playoffs. Then you're getting you know you're getting picked. Probably in the twenty s so get into twenty twenty. Three there are only two picks out there. I've seen no on two picks to so there's there's there's one pick out there from twenty twenty three and beyond no two picks out there from twenty twenty three and beyond that are not owed to either the thunder or the Pelicans so one is. Miami's twenty twenty three I that one is lottery protected for two years three years. Actually and then unprotected in twenty twenty six and then the other one which is one that I I like pretty well in this I would probably have this one in the top five I would say is Golden State in two thousand twenty four depict the use to move on with that is one through four protected but golden say twenty twenty four. I think I almost have a little bit more certainty about them because it seems like okay. They're everyone that we know on the team is going to be on the downside at that point most likely you know. May maybe they get one other player here or this draft pick. That looks awesome but this isn't supposed to be an amazing draft and they don't have much flexibility to do anything so I think that they will probably be a lottery team by twenty twenty four. I'd say more likely than not there in the lottery. I'll give some of the other relevant Steph Clay. We'll be under contract and they'll aged thirty three season. Draymond has a twenty eight million dollar player option. They'll be as aged thirty three zero expect. He'll pick that yeah. The weekends will be twenty eight and then curry will have been a free agent previously. But if he's still on the worse than I expected he will be. He'll be thirty-five year. So yeah we're getting heavy into post prime at this stage for all of those guys and remember that they're not gonna have cap space between now and then so it's not like they can build up the worst really at all other than their their own. First-round pick this year and that's GONNA be years before this this less unless they get a star in this year's draft or use that to get a young star that will be another huge piece of this team. I think that's I think that's a fair interpretation. And this is one of my top five. It was number four. Yeah and then you just got. Houston Lakers and clippers making up the rest of these picks from now all the way. There's there's actually one other one which is Dallas Dallas. Okay I was getting there. Yeah Yeah that. That's the other twenty twenty three one. Which is the But that one. Interestingly is protected eleven to thirty four a couple of years and then it transitions into a second rather than becoming unprotected that as also owed to the Knicks from the PORZINGAS trade. So again I would say Dallas with the young talent. They have projects. Do not be a lottery. Team at your. I think they're sort of paralleling that Miami pick where it's like. You're probably not getting something good because if Dallas is bad enough they'll just keep now that could be the double draft though. That's probably the most likely time that we would have the double track with high schoolers and also the players who weren't eligible the year before coming off Rushmere is basically the the opposite of the two thousand six draft which was a relatively weak one. In retrospect but if you WANNA think about so we'll just I'll do this just for Miami because they're the team that changes so in for the twenty three they have that pick. They only have one major guy under contract right now for that year. And that's Jimmy Butler. They'LL BE IS AGE thirty three season if he picks up player option. But they're trying to be players in twenty one possibly in two thousand twenty but I doubt it so I think they will have those obligations. I think we'll have a really good idea. I mean how long can Pat Riley? Keep going on. Isn't he. Seventy Five. I think I think twenty twenty one off season is to be kind of like the last that I think that's going to be the throw the rings on the table again. See what you can do. Yeah and then he gives it. I don't know who the protege is there but whoever I think my instinct is that's going to be it but who knows it might be before that might be after that. Well let's look at this ever more holistic standpoint. We've got Lakers Clippers in Houston obligations from twenty four through twenty six. How who do you think will be the best of those the Arabs are? I guess we should say the worst of those teams at that time. I'm going to bet you know as you talked about. I think it's more on organizations than than individual players. It'd be basically starting with the twenty four draught. None of those three teams. Have anybody currently under contract. Probably not even Davis extent like if he does something this summer. Like you just you..

"first round" Discussed on Dunc'd On Basketball Podcast

"I good Sunday to all of you. Dunk on listeners. Kinda weird even just talking about days anymore at this point. I guess we've still got the the rhythm of the podcast that to keep us through the only giving me rhythm Nate Syrup it felt good actually record with Hollinger today. We did a for those of you. Who enjoyed the decade tournament idea that I did with Ben Taylor? John and I did a worst teams of the decade tournament and that was A really good time with that. We spent a bunch of time researching it and then There we did a bunch of research for today to house actually busy all day today which was Nice A welcome distraction. Good news is you guys are still tuning in Listen Don a little bit. I think because people aren't commuting and obviously because there are no gains but we thank you guys for continuing to listen and as long as you guys are listening. We'll have content for you for sure. I mean I'm not hopefully People will still be advertising and selling products that But for the time being that seems to be working out okay so we will be here with you guys for as long as this goes on and people are still listening so thanks again for your support. It's good to be part of this committee. I appreciate all the Nice messages that I've gotten. I'm sorry. I haven't a chance to respond to everyone but a talking about how. The article that I wrote was useful for them or just letting me know. What your experiences are it just it. It's good to hear from everyone and still have a little bit of a sense of community here as we go through this. So we're going to do today. We want to introduce this concept. You're doing yeah I mean it was funny. I pitched it to you before I realized the scope of the project being so basically the idea that we you and I've talked about various ways of doing kind of like a asset ranking type of idea and what this is going to be as it's a section of it but I think in many ways is the most interesting and important section to do in something like this which is just going through and ordering and talking about the first round picks that are owed outstanding. So it's you know so. So what what? What teams What what are the most valuable picks that one team owes another and because those are all tradable and everything else and it brings about a bunch of really challenging arguments? That don't necessarily have right answers. But I think you and I both have strong feelings about which sometimes we'll talk about where those are differ from where the average general manager is. You may have oversold bill but not sure that I have strong feelings about some of these arena and yeah like you I. I knew there was a lot out there but on a I'll tell people there are thirty three were to that we're going to skip because it's the the warriors pick from this year and the cavs pick because as things stand right now. The odds of those actually conveying are so low as first round picks that it's just they don't really count. Yeah and so. I'm not sure I have that sort of opinions because I just I at some point. I kinda through my hands with all these. The Lakers and the Clippers and Houston picks that are due four years from now. I'm like man you know. What do I make it that I think we'll get into some of the methodologies that we use but yeah I mean I remember when we did this camera two three years ago or so but I felt it was much easier to order stuff in because you had teams that were already bad who owed picks in the next couple of years and so those appear to be pretty valuable now as it turned out Sacramento Twenty Nineteen and Lakers twenty eighteen? Now Memphis Twenty. Twenty one or twenty twenty. I guess it's GonNa turn out to be a those picks weren't as useful as people thought there'd be those Brooklyn picks turned out to probably be higher than people thought they would be so a reminder that all of this very much change but a few other factors I wanted to put in here. Two Thousand Twenty supposed to be a bad draft. I'm not sure how the hiatus is going to enter into that. I'm not really thinking that that would reduce the value of twenty twenty six particularly. Let me sit at this point. There is a there is a specific thing that might factor in which the cap gets lower than that means. The rookie scale will get lower. So those picks could be. But I don't think you you're trying to get the best player that's more than the financial value the pick but yeah. It's the the widely-held expert opinions. Is that the twenty twenty. Isn't good and that the twenty twenty one draft could be very so. I'm looking forward to the hoop summit this year and seeing the likes of Kate Cunningham for the first time but unfortunately that's That may not be happening. But Yeah Twenty. Twenty one is supposed to be better Twenty twenty two was supposed to be the double draft. I would say that. It seemed like they weren't trending in the direction of reaching agreement on that anyway maybe to have high schoolers entered the draft. Now with all this uncertainty I mean maybe that still happens because they're just going to be negotiating everything else anyway to get the league back started again so might as well. Just throw that in there as something else But my guess would be. Maybe that's now going to be pushed back a year especially with all the chaos in college basketball as well that maybe twenty twenty three could be the double draft rather than twenty twenty two. Yeah and we know the League wants to give a little bit of notice the teams but considering how many picks are treated so far out. I think they can't care as much as they were going to originally was like. Oh we wanted to drive for their no obligations. I think they know it's going to have to happen at some point. Some teams are going to get inconvenienced. Some teams are going to benefit. Well and then just to kind of spread things out among the years and we'll get into a lot of these obviously in terms of specifics but for just the twenty twenty draft. We've got nine first. Round picks that have an alternate destination as of this point presumably before the draft. There can be more trades in that regard as well but this far out that is a lot of picks that have changed hands and many of them really within the last year year and a half. Yeah thank you Paul George Leonard and yeah well that's just twenty twenty two. I mean that wasn't the Yeah I mean there are a lot of teams. Were definitely willing to part with first round picks within the last couple years Twenty twenty one. We've got probably between ill because there are some protections here most likely is. Maybe I'd say five five picks that already traded that another two that could go that Europe but are probably more likely to roll over And one of those the swap we're Kinda just including swaps in this as well. Yeah but we'll know for a swamp lake it so theoretically what the. Let's use the Knicks Clippers. One for twenty twenty one. That was another part of the Marcus. Trade the Knicks basically the the way the Knicks. Get the clippers. Pick if it is both better than the next pick but not top four and so like yeah as a technical matter that dot one west yet but technically has an asset. That's like well what the next can trade is the better of their own pick and the you know the better of their own picking will but the Knicks pick hasn't been traded. So you know what I'm saying like we're being fair and judicious with those Somebody else that I think is is really interesting. Thinking about this time is protection an upside. So what if you have a team? That's good right now like the clippers. So we'll we'll do this. I'll do this with an actual concrete example. So what's go all the way out to twenty twenty six and they're only two obligations that you're both of which are held by the thunder. They the clippers unprotected. I and they have the rockets. I if it's not in the top four so it's five thirty so then you get into those questions. Well okay. I would expect with their own. Everything else that the clippers will be a better team on you know because you're washing away all the talent that far out and but the but the rockets pick has that little bit of protection. If it doesn't convey then it becomes a script so you have to squirrel. Those things that you're headed well was the chance that it's a top five. Pick everybody else. That's why I founded such an interesting exercise and then also gives an opportunity which will go through at one point of how the League is GonNa look in a few years you know. We did the crystal ball but this is actually in some ways looking even far further beyond that and so like I hadn't really thought about the twenty three twenty four Golden State Warriors and that ends up being really important to this. Yeah I think when you get that far out my philosophy is GonNa be. I'm going to bet on the organization a late more. I mean the warriors are in a little bit different of a of a standpoint here because they've got a lot of old guys who are on big contracts and so for them to be able to hit before then you would imagine. They'd be on the downside. Where's this could just be a completely different iteration of say the Clippers in two thousand twenty six? But Yeah I mean you WanNa ask me what. I rather have the clippers. Twenty twenty two twenty twenty four or twenty twenty six unprotected pick. How the Hell should I? I mean I guess I guess. Twenty twenty two. You think that they would still have Paul. George Grizzard probably wouldn't be that one and two thousand twenty six is so far away but maybe there would be and that's another part of this I- looted in the beginning to the idea that we value this a little differently than general manager is that immediacy matters more to them than to us. Because you wanna get the benefits while you're still in the job because it say hey look at the thing. I got you in west. It's like such a blue chip asset you and I are. Hey it's like five picks a couple of years later but that's better but you're also you know the further out you go the less certainty you have a wall. So absolutely yeah. This is going to be an interesting discussion Yeah especially because in this case the highest upside picks are all further out. So I will. We'll get into this here and see where some of these picks are are going to rank for us in just a second. You've heard me talk about hymns and how it is the service that I used to treat my.
