Morgan Wallen Speaks on Using Racial Slur in 'GMA' Interview

"And a lot of people thought maybe it would be the end of things for the country music star Morgan Wallen. But despite the fact that he was recorded on a doorbell camera, I think or some sort of camera. Saying the N word after a bender. He's out on the street and is like, yo my end or whatever, to some friends around him. It's caught by this camera. It makes it on the news and his burgeoning country music career looks like it's going to get tanked. But he's a big star. His songs took off his some of his music videos have a 25 million plus views on YouTube. He's been touring still career took, Uh Weird turn. I had never heard. I think the three of us agreed that we had never heard of the day before that. No, I still never heard one of his songs. I knew a part of you kind of wonders a little bit like how much of that was to just stick it to everybody else that wanted to cancel them. Four saying the n word on that. But he did. He did get pulled off of all the radio stations for at least a while, I think And what I'm saying all I mean, they're probably some that just did their own thing. But I recall the radio stations kind of banding together and saying we're going to halt playing Morgan Wallen music. And then everybody goes over to iTunes has suffered his songs, Rocket up the charts, and so now he's finally even went to rehab at one point, But now he's finally breaking his silence on this, and he sat down with Michael Strahan. Let's just peek in. Let's see how this went to the people were going to watch this interview and say, the only sitting down because he wants to clean up his image. It's all a performance Mullet, man. I'm questioning the viability of the Olympics in our current world and I mean, partly political, but I mean, partly the world. We live in today, back in my youth seeing all these athletes from all across the world. People you'd never seen before was interesting was special but now thanks to worldwide television. Thanks to numerous twenty-four-hour. Sports networks, I can pretty much see any athlete any day of the week, no matter where they are on earth. There's always a camera to catch what they're doing. So are the Olympics still viable today? Does it really matter if we choose the greatest athlete in the world, from whatever particular country? It is. Now I spoke the other day about a Nashville athlete, she could make the US team. So she's going to be a part of the Trinidad and Tobago team. My wife's tired of hearing about this, I won't be watching any Olympics just because I don't understand what the big deal is anymore. Am I wrong?

"But right now we're talking about. It's not even get out of that. I'm picking ronald reagan on purpose. And when we say right wing when you're going right wing you're not talking about black right-wingers you're talking about white who he's talking about. I did say white politicians because those are the ones making the laws with no you when you say right wing. What do we. What do we think candice. Owens will speak out against tanaz. Isaacs the larry o. Does it the world is we got against little. That is really like conservative values because they're so into religion and they think that homosexuality is like a a a a sin. But if we're talking about a homophobia at large is the american issue like some people that are very religious people that are conservative just don't agree with homosexuality and when they see little nowadays on tv kissing. Yeah you know what. I mean i it makes all it in rea- i thought we're doing is trying to protect the argument so in other words like it's very easy to fall into these traps where you just blame a single community for type of behavior. Yeah if we're talking about hip hop regardless if we think of it as just american music or not the general public and you know this is a black art form speaking about black males who you even referencing black males or homophobic blackmails. So i gave a right wing perspective. Which is ronald reagan. Right and the joke is that it's a joke is a fucked up thing. Is that you know. They sold fucking ronald reagan. I think in cahoots with the fuck a drop in kobe cracking glass in the black. So who else is on cracking the black community. These gangsta rappers at brag. About all the way that they push and blah blah blah white manful. Well you have to sell it. But what the whole argument. But you didn't have. That's a whole other debate. Because it's just like if your point is in franchise minoshe put it there. But if you just leave it. But no if your point is in franchise and there's no other opportunity for drugs sell it whatever. "Twenty and i one. Let's start there for a week. Mary magdalene early still dark and saw stone. Had been taken away from the all right. Who had that reference. Only we might not think too much about it. But let's move down now to verse. Nineteen evening in the first day of the week and the doors were shot where the disciples were suddenly for fear. The jews jesus came and stood in the midst of. He's with kind of odd first day of the week once. Okay now you throw it in again. That seems a little peculiar but notice. It's in their third time. Check out verse. Twenty sixty after eight days disciples were inside and talents with them. Jesus came came doors. Being shut stood the midst incentivize to you eight days. First day the week comes again. I knew the week first day of the week first day of the week that almost sets the stage. It seems like four. What we've been looking at in class that god was saying. Look there is a special day the disciples. We're starting to meet on that day. Three records of that. John chapter twenty. And then you've got the information in. I corinthians sixteen x chapter eleven so forth specialty in revelation. Chapter one verse ten other people who would look at that and say. That's that's still doesn't really do it for me If god didn't command us to meet on sunday. I just don't think it's necessary if you were to have someone make that argument. You can't point to a passenger we're specifically says on it's just not there. What would you say. How would you answer that okay. I'll play devil's advocate with you. Know i don't and because neither of us have anything which says something along the lines of you're talking about any day as well. But it's just a bob example. There's no command. I told you. I was playing devil's advocate. Come on here all right. So let's take that lineup on the question now becomes alright if there is not a command from god. Does that mean that we are free to do. Whatever want even if there's a bobble example if you want to restate that we would ask the question. This way is a command on the same level as an example and then we have one of their way to authorize or sanctioned activity. What's the other way commands examples and and inference. Let's take a look and see if we can answer that question. We've got i think just enough time to this up. I corinthians ten six. let's get our readers. going first. corinthians four seventeen friskin ten six. Who wants i'm gonna fire off your art. Gary that's going to be you first. Corinthians four seventeen. Who wants that one. I bring all right steve you. Then we're going to move over to the book of luke luke chapter thirteen versus fourteen through sixteen. Who wants that one. Look thirteen versus fourteen through sixteen. I need some helpers all right bonnie to you then we're gonna take a look at the first corinthians fifteen for seventeen steve and then we're going to stop at least forbid with hebrews chapter seven and verse seven hebrew seven for seven art donte hebrew seven seven. Let's go back to for center for six stop. these things are for. What wrong word paul. You should have said their commands. No sorry go ahead of us. Paul said i wanna tell you nothing lost but how am i going to do it. I'm gonna point that two examples now. Do you think it is important for christian to not lust. Think that can send you to hell. It can the pulses. I wanted to talk about this from the standpoint of a command but from the standpoint of an example if you combine you tell me that it is just an example. Reefer strengthens tenant for six. An example is just as authoritative as a command but doesn't end looking for strengthening chapter. Four hundred seventeen you paul. Just give them a list of twenty two commands. Could he done that. Timothy could have had a much easier time. Just stand where he was kicking. Back and relaxing and apologised sends a letter off there in the roman rail system. But he said. I'm going to send this guy. And what's he gonna do. He's going to provide you some all right. "Claim that constantine changed the day of worship from saturday sunday. All right one or two have so. There is out there to worship on sunday. He certainly was able to hear that. Now communicate it that. That was commander ampler something. Look at a little bit later. And if we don't get that today we will pick it up next week. We've got this talking. I the best social work in places estimates former curry lord faces this first chapter eleven twenty year paces reputation chapter one now. This word was also used outside the new testament now the giving you that information as we get some helpers for the words were prescriptions eleven twenty who wants to be headed that way our gary revelation chapter one and i can tackle. Excuse me tackle that revelation one percents. The-they are another word that we're gonna see in these two passages if you're looking at it stricklin english. You might not ever suspect that there was any kind of difference but this word which use outside the new testament and give you a couple of quotes here as belonging to the emperor now if you lived in ancient times and you said that this belong to the emperor how significant with me i mean. This is as high as you can go. As far as i mean he was. They were treated as gods as far as roman emperors. The word was used to describe the celebration date for the emperor's birthday. Now if you think about that description in terms of the new testament. What's the sound like the emperor's birthday. Let's have a special day for that. If you're gonna try to relate that to christianity yeah the world might think well. That's christmas or easter. But actually it's convenient. Jesus coming back from the grave all right. It was also sometimes used described tax revenue that belong to the roma state or the emperor. We've got an inscription from the tomb in the seven century. That says god sir and fell asleep at the tenth. Our at the dawning of the lord's day comma the day of jesus christ's resurrection. The international center by violent psychopathic have seen the resource. used it. it has an entry on the lord's day. The first day of the week is a hebrew wisdom for the first day of the week. All right. let's take a look at those two passages first. Corinthians chapter eleven. Twenty here not. We're familiar with the rivers. We've he's talking about supper kenyon. The launched to the and here is that word which again describes things which were associated with the emperor. This describes things which were really really important things which would merit a celebration like birthday. And then we have over here in i printed harare relation. Can't be one of her skin. Some optional information that uses that word again spirit. A john says that. In addition to having the lord's day of the look separate revelations our first princess love and twenty off about. John said that the lord also has what he has his big. There is a day for the lord. Well if the lord has a day the natural question is what day is it and then you got seven to choose from and as we start back backing with my well christians. We're coming together everybody on the week on the first day of the week and again that's describing the way the con- talked about and then when you try to date the book of revelation we don't know exactly when it was written. I hold towards a later date some around the nineties. Maybe ninety two ninety three eighty. He began to find that perhaps six decades go by about ab thirty three in the church. Now eighty ninety about sixty years and john is talking about this special day for the lord so there was something that the christians were talk that allow them to have this special supper supper the lord and also be specially for the lord. We know that. Jesus was raised on the first day of the week. Marquette university nine one of the passages that we put up before now that christians in chapter twenty four seven assembling on this day. And we know from i corinthians eleven twenty steve for spent his eleven twenty. Was that you go back and read that again. I want one more thing from it. Paul tell them they were coming together in the wrong day. No it wasn't that they were failing to assemble now. That does seem to be a problem in the hebrew letter but they were failing to assemble. Were they failing to bring food. Wasn't a food problem but it was a problem with what. Yeah the way that they were doing that they were misusing the food so pulses you've got to correct the food but i have nothing to say as far as you simply then when you flip over. First corinthians chapter sixteen. they're assembling. You're having the lord's supper. We expect that there. On the lord's day. I printed in sixteen to what we find. Don do you remember on the first day of every week. That's when they were coming to gather to assemble the been some individuals if you talk to them They don't like because of the belief that they have or maybe they don't like something about the collection but there've been some people who've looked at first brick and sixteen and they have said well. Paul was telling people to keep the money home. You collect your money and you just set aside at home and there was nothing. As far as a sunday designated day of worship well paul could have said levi at home but he didn't say that he said lay by him or lay by himself that he's you decide at home how much you're to give and then you bring those funds so the money can be put together and collected women talking about this a little bit from the book of acts as far as the great collection hall. Go back into chapter twenty. It's about for sixteen says. He was hastening to jerusalem. Wanna get to jerusalem. He's going to stop a corn on the way back. Now if you're in a hurry and you're going to pick up money ex. You want everybody to stash their money at home and you got to send out the word when you don't have email and telephone support and say hey guys run around and try to collect funds or do you want to have the money centrally located you wanna have a centrally located which fits very well with what he was describing their radi get him some more information than it will stop again and see if there's something that you want to ask There are some people who have asked the question. Why didn't god simply say. Meet on sunday. That certainly would have simplified things. Well from our perspective it might have but there are some answers to that question ilias. It looks like helius similar to helium. There was the sun. God and it may have been that god didn't want any kind of connection to the sun. God you meet on sunday or your the sun. God people now. I don't know that that was the reason that he did this. But that's certainly possible. I do know that it should start going back and you start looking at this first day of the week. Let's take a look at john chapter twenty for just a second. If you've never noticed this as we start thinking about the first day of the week and and this time for assembly and so forth. John twenty is one of the passages that i would submit for consideration jumped.

"His speech. Thank you very much. We've heard that expression first. Timeslot of service had preached on that. And if someone were to ask you they had no now which the bible reading along with come back to twenty seven and they say first day of the week. I don't really know what that is. What would you tell them. Art would say that summit text and this surprises some people you would find that the word elsewhere translated sabbath on the first day of the week. X twenty seven. And this isn't the only place where this happens but on the first day of the week the word which is translated week and x twenty four seven the word that comes from his actually the word which is elsewhere translated sabbath. Nobody knew that okay. Let me give you an example. Let's take a look at three or four these matthew chapter twelve one two. Who wants to get the. You'll have a minute to get their matthew. Twelve to steve after that. Let's skip over to mark chapter to three. And twenty. Four steve up here just want got matthew twelve. Why don't you look at mark. Chapman versus twenty four six one. And then we'll take a look at john chapter five versus pen and verse. Sixteen all right. Let's go back matthew. Twelve grainfields and law grain. Versi saw this a read that they were working her involved with activity on the seven. Which was what. They never saturday or sixty eight times in the estimate. It happened that he went through the grape fields. And as they went his disciples began to the heads of grave. The first she said the wine is not all of the sabbath. Okay again. We read that no problem understanding that seventh saturday. Some more of those sixty eight times are just the same thing. Let's take a look. Look chapter six. I want to be window to him. I think you now came about that. On a certain sabah. He was passing through some great deals and his disciples were if eating the heads of grain. Robbing them in their hands. Let some of the virus. He said why do you do what is not lawful on the sabbath okay. Once again we hear that we see that we understand that john five ten sixteen help for them john five starting the first also reading sixteen us there that.

"Com here you carry. All persons are commanded to keep silence on pain of imprisonment while the senate of the united states is sitting for the trial of the article of impeachment exhibited by the house of representatives against donald. John trump former president of the united states. Hey everyone david celli and the cnn political director. This is the cnn political briefing. Here's what you need to know in politics for tuesday february ninth. Twenty twenty one. The first day of donald trump's second impeachment trial is in the books. This day was entirely focused on the constitutionality of whether or not this trial should even be taking place. The president's lawyers arguing because he's a former president. This trial should not exist. It's unconstitutional the democratic house. Managers prosecuting the case in the senate. Say that's an absurd argument because that would all of a sudden right were jamie raskin. The lead house manager called a january exception into the constitution. He said that's impossible to imagine that the framers intended that way that a president must uphold his oath of office and commit to it from the very first day all the way to the very last day of his presidency. Not some january exception where they can act radically illegally against the constitution in some way and escape any kind of accountability for it that was at the heart of what was going on today but there was also the emotional experience that the house managers put front and center in a compelling video looking at what happened at the capital on that day january sixth and interspersing it in a time line with what was going on inside the senate chamber inside the house chamber as donald trump was inciting his followers at a rally to go storm the capital you see in this compelling video that they put together the connection between donald trump was saying and what was occurring at the capitol and went this insurrection sort of broke through the barriers at the capital. This is the direct line that house managers are trying to present to the senators and it was to shock and awaken the conscience of all the senators in the room to remind them of what they all lived through on january sixth. Here's house manager. Joe goose like everyone of you. I was in the capital on january. Sixth i was the floor with lead manager. Rask like you. I was evacuated as this violent mob stormed the capital's gates what you experienced that day. What we experienced that day. What our country experienced. That day is the framers. Worst nightmare come to life. So trump's defense team had a pretty easy task here. Well should have been an easy task. Bruce castor one of the president's Defense council got up there and gave the most meandering set of remarks. It was almost impossible to follow his argument at the core of his arguments. Seem to be that because of the way. The impeachment clause was written in the constitution that you cannot impeach a former president that had only envisioned this as a remedy to remove a president from office. And obviously that can't be done now. That seemed to be his argument. It just took a very long meandering road to get there i. I'm really not sure. If he was totally prepared in fact he admitted that he went first and they changed the order that the president's council was gonna defend themselves in because of how impressive the house managers case was his colleague. David shown another lawyer for president trump. Got up to basically say. Call this what it is. This is political theater at its worst and that the reason the democrats are doing this. The only reason is to salih president trump's political reputation. Give us this is nothing less than the political weaponization of the impeachment process pure raw sport. Fueled by the misguided idea of party over country when in fact both will surely suffer. Emotions clearly are running high because all one hundred jurors in the room were at the capitol experiencing the attack that day as were the house managers but no emotional. Moment is going to match this one. From the lead house manager jamie raskin describing his own january sixth and how deeply personal it was. I hope this trial reminds america. How personal democracy is and how personal is the loss of democracy to distinguished members of the senate. My youngest daughter tabitha was there with me on wednesday january sixth. It was the day after we buried her brother. Our son tommy. The saddest day of our lives people died that day officers ended up with head damage and brain damage. People's eyes were gouged senators. This cannot be our future. This cannot be the future of america. We know the trial is going to proceed. And that is what you can expect to see tomorrow. The actual arguments about the impeachment article. Donald trump being accused of inciting an insurrection. The house managers will get the next two days over course of total of sixteen hours to present their case and then the president's team will get the two days after that to.

Donald trump jamie raskin david celli David donald trump tabitha donald january sixth wednesday january sixth sixteen hours tuesday february ninth John trump trump tomorrow Bruce castor Joe today salih democrats both

"He's proposing. What do you think are going to be some of the big challenges or hurdles that will face biden in these first days of trying to get these things done if there's going to be an impeachment unfolding during these early days of his presidency is going to distract him or congress from being able to act on these big ambitious plans. That biden has so talk me through some of the some of those challenges that he's going to be navigating. I think what's going to be. Interesting is to see biden over these next few days and him kind of having the national focus fully on him even after biden won. The election was declared the winner. Trump is still occupied so much attention and so much focus in questioning the results of the election. He used his twitter account to sort of so doubts. In everything. trump no longer has his twitter account and as of wednesday at noon. He no longer has the white house as a as a bully pulpit so i think for biden moving into the center of focus and capturing the national mood and setting the national agenda is going to be interesting to see how he and whether he can do that when he say interesting. Is your sense that that is going to be challenging for him that he may not be able to capture that national mood and attention as as swiftly as he might want to. I mean i think it's an open question given that the senate is going to be moving toward impeachment proceedings whether biden can control the legislative agenda. And what the senate is talking about when they are potentially going through impeachment proceedings for biden's predecessor. And then what about his cabinet. What do we know about how far along he is in creating a whole cabinet and whether those confirmations will be tricky so that gets at the benefits of democrats having the senate majority is that biden's nominations probably will get approved. The senate will confirm key members of soon to be president. Biden's cabinet those cabinet. Officials in charge of national security must be confirmed quickly as well as those in charge of responding to the current health and economic crises. The question is win and the senate calendar has been busy in part because of republicans spending several weeks after the elections still casting doubt on whether biden actually won the mob insurrection. That diverted congress for days also had an impact so biden's nominees are not as far along as the biden. People hope they should be and as far along as historically they have been no president. Since george h w bush in one thousand nine hundred nine has started his first day without having a nominee confirmed and so there has been some movement to confirm some of biden's nominees and in fact. There are five hearings on tuesday to start to consider some of those nominees so they could be confirmed soon but it still seems unlikely that biden well on his first day in office have anyone in his cabinet in place. Biden's time other hand has moved quite swiftly on filling positions throughout the other agencies throughout the white house. he's much further along than even president. Obama was at this stage in terms of filling positions that he can fill without senate confirmation so the senate really is a drag at this point. But it's sort of a question of win not for many of his nominees curious for you looking at this range of things. That biden is either done so far or prom superposed in his first as what do you think that tells you about the biden presidency. Especially when you think about so much of how. He has framed himself up until this point is a person who knows how to work with. The senate knows how to can return to the old way of doing things in in terms of negotiating and being a wheeler and dealer. And from what you've seen so far is your sense that that is what the biden president is going to look like war that he will be more in the style of president obama or president trump in terms of really relying heavily on executive action. I think it'll probably be a mixture from these early days. You're getting a sense of him. Still trying to walk a fine line. That past presidents have not been able to walk quite frankly he is signaling some big bowl executive actions using the full powers of the presidency to do a range of things and undo what trump did and then his legislative packages i think are indicating a little bit of both where there are things in there that are worthy of bernie sanders praise. He's responding in some ways to his own party and the energy and the divisions that still exist within it and trying to keep democrats united. I talked to james clyburn the weekend. Who's a top house. Democrat close biden ally. Who was saying that. Biden's challenge may be more keeping the democratic party united than it is seeking these bipartisan deals. The democrats still remain kind of splintered on a lot of issues. So you're seeing and some of these initial pieces of legislation biden's attempts to keep democrats together while also reaching out to republicans including things in these packages that he thinks will win some republicans support and he served with about a third of the current senate. So he does have some allies people in the current senate who know him who knows his style. Mitch mcconnell is certainly worked with biden in the past. So i think he's attempting to i. Go a bipartisan route. I mean he's talked for a long time about the fever breaking after trump which has always kind of seemed a little bit naive and like that won't happen. There's no going back. The boxes are even opened. And you can't just put the things back in the box putting the toothpaste back in the bottle. What would be would be difficult for biden but he keeps at it. You know and i think that that.

"And right now again and will go for another breath and it's one day at a time and it's that sense of knowing that even with the day The our very breath and this very moment in the now makes up that day. So it's about being grateful if we can be grateful What with thanksgiving coming up in the holidays and I know it's a place of Pain that a lot of people are in. So i don't mean to negate that with the quarantine and the pandemic going on. I know about all the police. Brutality and the pain in the world. So i send out the love again. Globally and breathe in right here right now the piece the piece which is where all of this love is in this moment the peace and love it lives in this moment and that's where the gratitude is born and we can embrace that every day again. This is about one day at a time and the way we Do one day at a time is a just one moment one heartbeat and now again and again and even in quarantine.

"You the first thing amaze me when I came to New York was so many tall buildings slight men. This is crazy. So imagine being just that visual you can socket Google period, the visuals of Rucker Park back in the seventies and eighties when came through it just like hanging offenses into the visuals of that are so iconic. That helped make basketball become the heartbeat of an inner-city which. Also rap music fed off of, and that's why they're one in one in itself. Nowadays. But what are your thoughts? please. Tweet US please call in I wanNA hear what people had to say about this one. I think basketball is is universal. You know like the Larry Bird and a in a in a cutout cornfield with no concrete just getting shots up and they and he's got he's got one basketball by the fire I remember reading this about him and one because the ballgame cold and stop bouncing. So he would switch out the basketball's as we get more shots up when it was cold outside that's no less basketball than kingdom in Rucker Park and thousands of people in pros. So I think it's universal. Thing and but I also feel like New York City has just more hoops that are full of people. When I drive around L. A., they'll have like these like high school parking lots that have like six full court hoops next to each other with no basketball players on them. It's always kinda like it's always amazed me and then I'll I'll see so many empty courts and in New York City, you'll see a lot of empty courts. You know you see a lot of people on those courts playing. Go j-league it twenty second time out because I WANNA do a distinction that you just said that I just said the May go over a lot of people's heads I said the essence. Of this conversation when you're talking about the Mecca starts on the BLACKTOP. Therefore means this was taking place outside outdoors. That's a vast difference Jacoby playing outside. For playing Jim. please. Continue. And also I think in a lot of other cities when you get good good and you're about twelve or thirteen, you kinda stop playing outside like that. You scooped up by coaches in leagues in a US and and just meeting your friends on the on the afternoon at two o'clock or walking by a court and saying I want to get this running. I've got jeans on doesn't matter like I just feel like. Growing, up. You can do that. You can do that grow up in New York. Not, not, all of the all of the auditor legends that play ball coming up in New York Day still put on in played outside. That's what I'm saying for the call. That's exactly what I'm saying it. It wasn't just like, Oh, now I'm good enough. I'm too good to be outside because now I've got read I've got this this practice at four o'clock inside and then this and that lead to spend the entire. went to rucker par do how many? Thousands of people listening this right now being like, yeah we did the exact same thing in Cincinnati. Yeah. We did. We did the exact same thing in Jacksonville? Yeah. We did the exact same thing in Seattle because it's like you know people play outside everywhere you know but I just feel like this. There's something a little different about the architecture and Co. New York City. Now when I say talking about playing outside I mean players everybody from Dr Jada Kobe Bryant playing outside while they're MBA superstars. That's different. was happening in Cincinnati. Drew Inside. Talking about. Outdoors playing outdoors free basketball to anybody who has eyeballs. That that's the essence of the game outdoors. In. At the park the people enough near did you ever play at the Rucker Doug? You right now is going to be like twelve year olds. Like it's now. Just, a court like if you right now, it'd be like a six year old and twelve year old playing you twenty one you know what I mean like it's not it's your plant the cage like, yeah, it's. Run it's WACK. They're like most of the time you know like the legendary cards is open for anybody to play it you can just wild with do it. How about this? How about this? Almost is rare now for great highschool prospects to be playing outside as it is to see a left handed shortstop and Major League Baseball. Because once you start to become a player like you said. The system takes you from the essence. See you start playing in your backyard. Why? Because Free Stop play at the Park Wa 'cause valuable and there so people want to invest in your Oh, you gotTa Jump Shot Hey court can complain, hey man, my uncle's a trainer man he wanted to push out there. So late. And Every Wednesday night at eight o'clock we played there and then once you start doing that took. You you just you hit the nail on the head, though the system takes you away from the essence. You know and I feel like that's the least true here. Prior played, it played a Parka. Played a P. Walk. Play outdoors. My whole. When I was in college, I was playing outside. Still. Walls Michigan. Staying, outside on. Saturday I was playing outside on Saturday. Kids want next. You know what I mean we waxman the. Dog Look Y'all at fourteen years a whole lake. Fourteen year old but taking happen we're forty like for forty I. Love it though I, love you know what I don't love my knees hurt today that was three days ago I went on a job yesterday afterwards, Nia knees don't feel good at all. He's don't feel good. Things for your knees and your. Ends up that's what I mean. It takes you from the essence because it's like, Hey, I know you really likes ice cream. Let me tell you onto this low fat version I'll let me tell you every time to this version. Is like this like this like this and and then you get watered down to what from what you like to society makes you feel like you should be doing and sometimes it's was best for you. It doesn't necessarily. Create a level of endurance because telling me tell you some plan outside. Playing outside. Playing hurt or somebody testimony jump shot. You know if you've got gotta jump shot play outside. Okay. You because you play outside. Okay accuracy changes. You know what I'm saying because the weather's going. Conditional release in Rams. Yes. Of course, there are flat dog snuff. Let like..

"He's Jalen rose I'm David Jacoby we. Kobe what is it that we do? We give the people. What they saw. Donald Mitchell fifty seven points in a loss. In the Celtics, beat the seventy sixers and the raptors absolutely dominated the nets but we start. Late. Last night with Luca facing off against the clippers and it was just too much for the mavs Kawai Leonard and Paul George both scored a lot of points and got clutch buckets down the stretch to beat the Mavericks Jalen. What were your big takeaways from this late night contest the best wing dual in the league. And for those that don't know. Anthony Davis. Janas they're not wings, Paul George Koala egner locked down defensively. You you buckets off the dribble in pick and roll actions. They could go one on one. They do things that you can't just drop. On. The board to Kobe in. So those guys get going against a massive shows, their depp and it was terrific to see co I hit a couple of key buckets but don't sleep on more seniors contribution 'cause I've been waiting on him to provide. That level of toughness and productivity of front, and he was the guy that got under kp skin the ultimate left for led to him getting did. Not, just that, but we do have to celebrate Luca because we know what Paul. George and. Capable of and in Lucas First playoff appearance, he scored more than anyone in the history of the NBA ever scored in their first play-off experience and one of the things about this matchup. There was so tough for him as they have PG and Co. as you mentioned to the best wing defenders, they put in front of him and it really didn't matter what they put in front of him because he just kind of figured out luther little sidestep and even without KP and the game he kept this teen closed I was really impressed by Luca, what do you think? I love his game so much in his pace in his demeanor and. He he he kills you on all phases like he's not an accurate three point shooter juice yet low thirties. But every time he shoots, it seems like is going in because he has a signature shot is step back and his courses. Once he is inside the three point line players active, he could kick it out to the three point line earlier. Late, he could pass people open basket. He could throw the Lai pass and he finishes with both hands and he's bigger and stronger than people give him credit for. And he initially you know has some jitters in my opinion got off to a slow start us high turnovers in that game in particular to start to gain. But he went to the locker room like Maria Taylor said he got out of his own bag. Okay. Because he could cause Luca is that phenomenal player in? So to watch him get going against that defensive team to Kobe I agree you might be on something when you say these guys got a chance to win a championship in the next couple of years. And I love I. Love The way he passes when he penetrates seems like no stay in front of him even though he's not the quickest guys in the court and he doesn't just make the simple past of the corner or that initial health person he'll sort of look that person get to the second rotation than it hit steph curry like he's seeing. Things out there that shouldn't be seeing in your first playoff appearance to just sort of run the game and run the offense. The way he did was really really impressive. However, they did lose and you know one of the factors their loss was, as you alluded to earlier, the ejection of kristaps. Porzingis, who got two fouls did he deserve these technical fouls? Probably but maybe not humanly, do you know what I mean like the first one he maybe not should've gotten that one for reactively certainly reacted this one. He did not step into the sort of stop the altercation. He might sort of incident in made it a bit bigger of a deal Jalen there's a lot of backlash on the Internet on social media and amongst the media that he should not have been objective ejected. How do you feel about it? Not, many times I actually get to be a parent a rule. I forty seven I'm in a room with seventeen year olds especially a lay my kid. There are a lot smarter way more disciplined in me. Let me just tell everybody something. KRISTAPS porzingis yet what soft like of Dirk tweeted yet was petty light. Lebron and Patrick Mahomes felt. But you know what he did he broke the rule and when you throw an Air Punch in NBA playoff game, the officials are going to call a technical every time. That's just the rule. It wasn't personal. They didn't pick on him. When you interject yourself into a situation when you already have a technical foul, you have to be conscious of that. It was an NBA classic. A And you allowed that to let you get injected. Jacoby you gotta stay in the Game Man. Let somebody else that we don't know who their name is get into that huffing and puffing with more senior and give them a chance to take game on. Trust me he. He's GonNa. Tell he's not going to allow himself to be put in that position again and getting checked. You know when the clippers got into the next huddle, everyone gave more senior pound and we're like good work. Here for you know that's indicative I ask for. The other team is celebrated like that because you've got sort of you know you got involved into an altercation. We've been looking at the stars, these superstars with Luca PGA, Kawai KP in the way that they play. But one thing we also want to point out is what recall allows been doing with his press conferences. Let's just take a listen. Of California's work by. Being, the young black man, the thirty four dead. Thirty two injured, nearly four, thousand arrested and where he million in damage..

Are you kidding like you're throwing ohio state in there. Come on joey involvement west virginia ohio but right. It's it's an ohio state and west virginia or not rival rivalry. Can you make you make it around the city. That's right. We're creating a rivalry just just like he's from ohio year from texas. Everyone got to get some love and we're all good. We're even arguing about rivalries. That's why it's so good coming up tonight. It's an annual tradition. Some of the best players in college football are going to be talked about. You've got two of the alabama quarterback you've got trevor lawrence the clintons and superstar who went the national championship so many players in the preseason herbie's tonight for more. Here's davis may we're going to hand out the preseason herbie awards tonight at seven o'clock eastern on e._s._p._n. Always have to be guys at burst onto the scene. Kind of breakout get two different level. Who are the nominee the breakout star yeah guys who as you said ready to kind of take that next step trooper hubbard last year backed up justice hill now it's his turn and i think this offense has a chance to put up some points and they're going to have a balanced attack. I think he has a chance to get out and space last year so impressed. He went over seven hundred yards now. It's his turn impressed with his speed last year when he got out in the open field kellyn mon- last year gave us a taste glimpse of what he can do at times jimbo fisher's offense. I think the consistency is where are you gonna see a difference. Virtually every receiver except tied in is becka right. There is back. I expect him to put a huge numbers in that second year jimbo system dylan moses now. It's his turn always when oakland when alabama has a great defense they always have great leadership in the middle over the years. It's been hightower. It's been a role mclean. It's been c._j. Moseley it's been reggie ragland. We thought it'd be him back wilson last year. It was not this year. It is moses. The herbie award for breakout breakout star goes to alabama linebacker dylan moses. He's been waiting on this kirk. He's been a star in recruiting surplus into is in about the seventh grade. This didn't have to have that leadership. He'll probably be playing with freshmen beside yeah yeah. They've got an angry football team after the way they performed on the big stage in the national title. I don't think it's an addition by subtraction situation with max wilson leaving going onto the n._f._l. Dig allows moses to kind of take over and being that guy. I don't think he's going to be a raw reggie. Gee raglan kind of guy. I think he's going to be a little bit more of a c._j. Moseley type. He's a quiet leader which is fine. Everybody leads differently but somebody on that defense needs to emerge because when bama has an elite defense they have an individual guy that kind of steps up to provide that i think he could be the guy he went and met with sabin after that clemson game he wants the type of leadership role on this team of course the herbie's always built in the crowning moment big..

"The opportunity. The rest is history college. Football's clash not just teams but of cultures identities rivals hate each other it just talk about respect only one way you get respect s by looking somebody in the eye for sixty minutes say hey baby here. I am now. Let me see your runs through now. That passion separates college football from every other sport in the united states unless your passions are strong enough word this report. We play a team here. National champion team team the team. I will tell you there is so much great content coming up as we celebrate the one hundred fifty th year of college football in a game that we all love one of the great things about this sport are the rivalries mcelroy. Which rivalry game do you wish was played texas a. and m. texas because both both fan bases. You can survey longhorn fans and aggie fans and the boat tell you we don't need that game. We're better than them now. We've left them behind. That's exactly what the gain needs to be played. I'm from dallas texas and yes texas and oklahoma was always a rivalry that i put front and center of my childhood but texas tech sanam around thanksgiving giving was one that i always had such a huge interest in so the fact that tech sam is now gone onto the s._e._c. and texas becoming resurgent in the big twelve. It's one that has to absolutely come permission here sooner than later so i'd love to see it play. I agree with you greg. I haven techs go to the s._e._c. See but again. I go back home. I grew up in ohio which is right across the river from west virginia. I would love to see ohio state west virginia play. I mean the border states the plane each other. It's fun. That's what makes college football different as the robbery games and if we could create more of them i think it just helps out the sport now for those of us. Who have the same reaction. Some of us had when when joey pits this west virginia ohio state we're thinking what is he talking about. How is this even a rivalry game well. We'll show you one hundred five miles news from columbus to morgantown so just over a three hour drive to get from campus to campus. There's a look okay okay. It's close that sign is that's where i live. That's of course if you're going to say west virginia. Why are you not going west virginia pitt. Are you kidding.

"Network. Ken jalen make it hurts so good from bama is the new star of oklahoma. We'll talk transfer quarterbacks coming up next on college. The phone live the welcome back to college college football presented by davies bed. We have two weeks zero. Oh games arizona make the trip across the pacific. Take on hawaii kevin supplemented his second year in the desert armed with khalil tate whose twenty six touchdown passes last season and were fourth most in the pac twelve so mcelroy. What is your quarterback crystal ball saying about a guy that last year was on the cover verve sports illustrated and khalil tate is perhaps the heisman trophy favorite bryce love or the two heisman trophy favorites going into last season just think about bad for a minute both of which kind of fell off the map early but i liked khalil tate and another year with noel mazzone the office of coordinator and kevin someone the head coach there in tucson use on you have to think they're going to get back to doing what take did so electrically there at the end of the two thousand seventeen season a little less throwing a little more running and a healthy tate can provide real spark to an offense so that might become must watch. It becomes a shootout there on the island against hawaii. I think we've focused so much on khalil tate. We don't really focus on someone has to win. Games and it's not like the year before arizona won a ton of games and last year they didn't. They weren't very good. When khalil tate was good good versus last year when he wasn't very good they have to figure out a way for this football team to win football games and if that means khalil tate doesn't run for as many yards or passes for more yards whatever it is kevin someone better figure it out pretty fast and defensively domestic stop some people and give their quarterback a chance to put some points on the board those. I thought that was the perfect marriage tatum. Someone just didn't get your one in tucson for either of them. Let's go to perhaps one of the most notable transfers this off season. Jalen hurts leaving alabama to go to oklahoma hurts. No pressure cuyler. Mary baker mayfield number. One picks heisman trophy winners mcelroy had is this all worked out for hurts who a lot of people there have around. He's struggles throwing the ball. I'm still curious to see what this off. It's going to look like now. Lincoln riley is a quarterback guru. No one's going to argue that but anyone that suggests jalen hurts throws the ball with the same level of effectiveness baker mayfield kyla murray. They're not watching the same tapers tape. I watched the last year so we'll they resort more to a quarterback run game. We'll they slow it down. Just a touch will rely more throws that are underneath giving it to to the wide receivers letting them run with the football because jalen hurts just not a naturally very accurate passer now he's grown a lot and improved over the last few years but hasn't grown to the point where he's going to be the first overall pick so i expect this offense to adjust slightly plus then run the football and melton a little clock. We'll take a little pressure out that defense to joey. I think he's fun to watch and i think he's going to be better. You thinking offense greg when you watch oklahoma's offense regardless of who the quarterback is they always have wide open receivers running and i made a statement a couple a couple years ago when his baker mayfield. It was hard to tell how good baker mayfield really was because the offense that they're running guys were wide open. I i love watching this offense because of the openness now we talk about big playability ability to take off running dealing herself as well as anybody and again you you can see like if you can do that in the big twelve you can run the ball as a quarterback. You're going to open up a whole new realm in this offense and i think he's going to be extremely family..

"Advance a little bit further. The expectations are high but i think they're reasonable. Just knowing how talented this young man is had a chance to call the clemson spring game in having the tencent with davos and his office and talk about whatever lawrence was in the spring and that will san he been so good that he really didn't have a chance to coach him because he was just on with everything thing and then he had a bad day and finally got a chance to jump on him but he's been that good that dabble hadn't had to do coaching this young man and you can see it in the clips that did you show dare greg. He's throwing the ball. Ross higgins outside their six six so he just brought up there. They can go get it. Rogers is back in the backfield this offense this is abc loaded and for young quarterback to have the competence and his receivers and he can just throw them anywhere and not six guys going to go up and make a play for you. Come down with it. <hes> that's just going to elevate his game and i think by the end of the season we you'll definitely be making a trip to new york because not only is he good but he has great weapons around him. You mentioned t higgins. He came in at tenth and mel kiper jr's latest big board for n._f._l. Draft projects and scare justin ross is also a sophomore with trevor lord six receptions hundred and fifty three touchdown in the national national championship game for ross. You mentioned daboh sweney who came out swinging winging after it was a looted to that perhaps alabama was tired in the national championship game davos says and i quote my thing on that is are you serious. They're tired tired then you look at clubs when we twelve games by twenty plus who really challenged alabama s._e._c. They didn't get challenged anybody until the georgia game people get amnesia five six seven years ago. The rhetoric was that an a._c._c. team is not going to win a national championship because they don't play anybody during the season so then they get to the postseason and they're just just not prepared for the bad boys well now. They flipped it around in. The only reason we're winning is because we don't play anybody in the a._c._c. See that to that point. I'll give you this the a._c._c.'s that one team. One team ranked in the top twenty in its clemson s._e._c. See has six the arguments there with the rank is talk and season preseason rankings of mcelroy. What do you make dabbles comments. Why are we still kind of disrespecting the tigers. Daboh paid someone and planted a reporter out there to ask that question to create that edge because everything i've heard about clemson last year and clemson this year is just how fantastic they are but that's not really how clemson's been built. That's not how clemson got to this point. Clemson has found an edge every single year including last year. When data came out famously said oh we don't worry about us. Hey we're on the rusty al-basra on the roy bus and everybody else a- all this talk about bama. Don't worry about us little clemson over here. He's created an edge in a mantra and that they don't get any respect. It's absolutely ludicrous because clemson is one of if not the premier programs in all of college football and the scary thing is they're only getting better especially with trevor lawrence his youth in the youth..

"If you're watching college football presented by ben we know jim. Harbaugh is back in the headlines for a line in a forthcoming book in which he is quoted the same hard to beat the cheaters exactly which schools he was referring to it is unclear joey greg and matt back with you on college. Football live mcelroy. Let's start with you on this one. What do you make of jim. Harbaugh comet summit. It feels deflection. I mean naturally jim. Harbaugh has always trying to create some interest within the program especially in the off season but he's essentially saying that teams are tilting the playing field in their favor. He talks about how it's hard to recruit on the same playing field against some of those teams that he's referring to. I went back and looked at the recruiting classes and how they finished while jim harbaugh has been ann arbor they have not finished lower than eight with the exception of one year where they finished twentieth nia because they could only sign twenty players because their team was extremely young so i'm trying to figure out why he's deflecting attention from his program. Yes the performances have been subpar offer michigan at times but this is one of those things. I just don't understand why he feels the need to go there. Joey the fact that we're discussing. This is a win for jim harbaugh. He would love to discuss anything besides his record against ohio state his record in the big games and since he's been you're correct. It's all been the statements about how stuff off of the football field even statement. He made about urban meyer early. In the year again. It takes away from focusing on the fact that he's recruited critic very well in the bigger games for michigan they had showed up and played very well. This is his chance to to make that right but right now. We're talking talking about things that jim harbaugh said as opposed to what his team has done on the field and you imagine comedy set about urban meyer. He said controversy follows him urban. Wherever he goes and harbaugh the record could speaks for itself one and nine against top ten teams in his four years in ann arbor michigan has coming back shape patterson first time a quarterback has come back and returned as the starter since harbor turn to ann arbor greg. Is this the year that that he needs to get it done yeah aw because if ryan day takes over at ohio state then you can no longer discuss it as well. He just can't get past urban meyer..

It was like everything changed. I screamed someone call one we need help. And I knew he had kids. And so I was like am I watching somebody's dad die? The attack was so severe his heart stopped. And he is dad. He was totally dead. It was really an awful thing to say for five minutes Jason lifeless on the floor of a comedy club. He was lucky. The woman in the audience was able to revive him. I feel that fear which I think are going to actually help me see the material clearer. I've been following Jason for the last year as he tries to turn these jokes into a one hour special that he hopes will make him a household name. I was told.
