Now to our top story, it was a violent start to the new year in Chicago and among the victims at least two children. One of those children, a 9 year old boy who was shot and killed in the Washington heights neighborhood last night. Chicago police ate happened in the 9400 block of Wallace around 6 30 inside a home while other children and adults were present. Several of those adults are being questioned by detectives, but police say it wasn't immediately clear who owned the gun, or how many times the boy was shot. The boy was rushed to commerce children's hospital where he was pronounced dead, police are still looking for the gun. Meantime, a ten year old boy remains hospitalized after another shooting on the city's south side. A handgun was recovered from the garage area of the residence where the shooting happened, no arrests yet police say the boy was shot in the face New Year's Eve night while sitting in the living room in the back of the yards neighborhood in the home there police say the boy was with several other children when a gun went off and he was hit. He was taking a comer children's hospital where he has been listed in fair condition. They burn a one O 5 9. And another New Year's Day shooting this one in the west town neighborhood left one man dead and another wounded Chicago police say it happened inside a business in the 2100 block of west division around one 30 in the morning. The man who died was shot multiple times, the other man was shot in the left calf and taken to stroger hospital where he was listed in good condition. No one is in custody. Chicago police are also looking for the person who fatally stabbed a man Saturday. There are 55 year old man was stabbed in his chest while in the 300 block of west 87th street at about four 30 in the afternoon. The man was taken to Christ hospital in Oakland where he was pronounced dead, as of this report no one is in custody and police did not release a description if there is one of the suspects. The stabbing victim has not been identified, Jan kleman, one O 5 9. Meantime, on the city's north side, a man is recovering after being beaten in the lakeview east neighborhood overnight. Chicago police say the 40 year old victim was walking in the 700 block of Buckingham just after midnight when he says three unknown males approached him. After words were exchanged the offenders beat the man, then ran off the victim suffered injuries to his head and body he was rushed to Illinois masonic hospital and last listed in critical condition. Just know as you get on the ramp to the outbound Stevenson, you are down to one lane through the spring, I 57 and the bishop Ford both looking pretty good, Gustavo lakeshore drive okay too, but if your cell phone roadwork continues in the right lane between 57th and Hayes, no big backups, but it's there. Along the tollways the tri state northbound the ramp to the up on Stevenson shut down for work. Stick with county line or Lagrange road to the Alpine Stevenson, no worries on the Jane Addams tollway, the Reagan, the veterans route three 90, route 53 looks pretty good. I 80 there is road work that continues with a lane shift eastbound through Joliet, Chicago street over to Briggs. You also lose the exit to Richard so you can exit at Chicago street instead. I guess we could mention roadwork to continue south on 57th to Hayes the right lane is blocked and that's long-term work on the tollways the tri state northbound. You lose the ramp to the outbound Stevenson that is shut down the plan is until the end of this year. No major backups on the tri state though. I 90, the Jane Addams tollway looks good. So does the Reagan. I 57 looks good, so does the bishop forward to and from 1894. The sapa Lake Troy drive, no major delays, just know if your southbound roadwork continues once you hit 57th over to Hayes, it's in the right lane that has long-term construction. On the tollways, the tri state northbound, looking pretty good on the main line, just know the ramp to the outbound Stevenson is shut down. Well, my really not too bad across the roadways. They are wet and of course you're driving and getting all that salt splashed on your windshield, have plenty of fluid as you head out the door, always a good idea to keep that in your car too. If you can, along the Eisenhower, we're still a little heavy on the way out from an earlier crash from above our Harlem over to 9th avenue. If you're making your way around the near west side, you want to avoid Taylor near the Dan Ryan. That's a crash involving a semi and a closure in that area. Stick with Roosevelt along the Eden's no worries there on either side. The Kennedy a little bit slow inbound from nagel the central, a 25 minute ride coming in from O'Hare to downtown on the extension expect a little bit of a delay westbound as you're heading toward the terminals. Stevenson, not too bad, a little slow inbound approaching the Dan Ryan ramp and that's about it. On the Dan Ryan traffic looks pretty good back and forth between 95th and downtown. A good trip on I 57 and along the bishop Ford, usa Lake shore drive as well. Across the tollways, no major complaints, all 5 of them are moving along pretty nicely along I 80 through Joliet no issues, 80 94 east ball and Torrance earlier crash removed from the entrance ramp so you're moving well in that area now. Well, the metro UPU northwest line trains are running again, rob with the lays due to earlier police activity. Near Palatine at another 20 minutes or so to your time, near west side, you want to avoid Taylor near the day and Ryan due to a crash involving a semi, you can stick with Roosevelt instead. Along the expressways, you're nice and quiet on the Eden just 15 minutes either way between Lake cook and the Kennedy junction. The Kennedy's not too bad where we're seeing a delay like usuals. I'll tour the airport along I one 90 westbound where you're slow from the tri state to about mannheim and that's as you head out toward the terminals. I two 90 the Eisenhower nice and light either way on the Stevenson building traffic inbound as you approach to Dan Ryan ramp. No troubles on the way out though. I 55 looking really good through will county in both directions. On the Dan Ryan, we're slowing inbound from sumac and outboard to past 18th. No biggie on the way out though. I 57 looking good to and for my 80, no worries on the bishop Ford freeway. Just open road back and forth between 80 94 and the Dan Ryan, Gustavo lakeshore drive, no big delays, just know if you're making your way south bottle along the drive, 57 to Hayes, you lose the right lane that is long-term construction across the tollways on the tri state, no big backups, but if you're north bond on two 94, the ramp to the outbound Stevenson is shut down. That is for road work through the end of this year. The Jane Adams stowaway and the Ronald Reagan, both in good shape, so is the veterans memorial. Route three 90 looks good east and west, route 53 A-okay northbound and southbound. I 80 through Joliet decent, just no eastbound. There's a lane shift to be prepared for if you're not used to it between Chicago street and Briggs. You also lose the exit to Richards that shut down till early next year so you can stick with Chicago street as your exit instead. Northwestern Indiana good to go on 1894, 65 and the toll road. Again, the roads are a little bit wet. Make sure you have plenty of fluid as that salt is bouncing off the roadways in and to your vehicle. Fellside expressway is looking pretty good so far. That includes sedan Ryan 57 and the bishop Ford freeway to Sabo lakeshore drive nice and light so far up and down. If you're driving around the near west side, you want to avoid the area of Taylor and displays, police activity and a semi crash near that intersection, so maybe consider using Roosevelt or Halstead as an alternate few calls coming in on the Dunkin Travis tip line regarding that. 8 5 5 7 8 road that's 8 5 5 7 87 6 two three call anytime anything we see we appreciate it and we'll make sure to spread the word. The Eden's and the Kennedy both in tip top shape so far, so was I one 90 as you go to and from the O'Hara terminals. Two 90s the Eisenhower that looks good. So does the Stevenson, which is I 55. The day and Ryan 57, the bishop Ford all clear, who saw the lakeshore drive decent just know that the road war continues southbound 57th to Hayes in the right lane. Tollways, a tri state northbound, the ramp to the outbound Stevenson shutdown for road work that will continue until the end of the year. That's the plan. All the other toe waves are moving along fine just like the tri state. I 80 through Joliet looking good as well. If you're east bound through Joliet, just be prepared for a lane shift. They'll be sure to check ahead before you leave the house if you can. We zoom in on the Stevenson guys, which is really heavy on both sides, but especially outbound before route 83 to before Lamont road with a crash in the left lane as you make your way through Darien. It's a 40 minute ride out 40 minutes coming in with a big gapers delay approaching the area. You might want to use playing field road as an alternative this morning. Although the ins you're looking pretty good so far on both sides, Kennedy about 30 coming in between O'Hare and downtown, you ride out on ad 22 on the Eisenhower word of a crash inbound right around 17th to vote for mannheim to that point. I 65, though, you're pretty jammed up on both sides north of U.S. two 31 and spots all the way to U.S. 30, flick conditions and crashes reported throughout that stretch that another big backup on 65 further north, this past 61st street over to 80 94, and that due to a stall blocking a lane on the Indiana toll road westbound jabbed up from grant to Klein from an earlier wreck, each phone we're getting word of a crash. This past willow creek road pretty heavy because of it. Tri state beery heavy northbound from 95th the past to Stevenson. That's a stalled semi blocking the right center lane, getting word of a crash on the Dan Ryan coming in bound right around 79th, pretty heavy, it's 34 minutes out of the way in. Word of a crash on the Stevenson two coming inbound at pulaski and that's why we really jammed up on the inbound side of the Stevenson from Harlem, 51 coming in from three 55, 40 in from the tri state. Southbound stop and go from 1894 to 61st, that crash has been cleared away thankfully, the lanes are back open, but all lanes are blocked further south with a crash at a 190, so Broadway or U.S. 41 definitely the way to go very slick conditions along 80 94 and some delays in both directions as you make your way through Hammond on the old oy side, nothing made sure to report unless you're in the southern suburbs again and on the south side of the city, getting word of tons of crashes because of peace of ice across the roadway. So the bottom line is this morning, give yourself a lot of extra time, especially if you are to the south make sure you have plenty of washer fluid as well.
