Feel Good Habits with Marcia Kilgore

"I'm so trade at trying to turn around how I feel and and how I'm thinking so if I have an important event and I have to do it I will use all the again all those chosen. If it's just a tiredness thing it's water benefits. I can't cope with this thing will question that thought it so this fantastic limiting Byron Katie. Have you ever heard? Yeah Yeah I mean just. You don't have to study everything that she does or or be an expert at her method but just questioning whether or not the thought that you having is correct and this. I think it goes into my second habit which is connecting. Sometimes tired you feel fearful of because you're not connected and I honestly believe that. Humans are kind of like batteries. Sometimes we need to go off and Y- recharge so Rechargeable batteries as sometimes. You need to just go sleep or rest or whatever it is. Sometimes the the solution is actually go plug into another battery. And so that's what gets your energy flowing and if rest hasn't done it for you or if you're having thought that maybe isn't helpful and I would say there two kinds of thoughts fight right helpful or not. Helpful never true. It's like well you can. You can think about the same thing two different ways in helpful away. And that's your choice but remembering that if you're feeling anxious about something is just a unhelpful. Fought and maybe you need to do something differently and very often. I find that if I just connect with other people and you know you go and you recharge you meet somebody. Suddenly it lifts your energy so much and it's because you've got somebody else's energy to lift you up to feel connected and really easy way reaching out zooming somebody calling someone or just going in and getting into a different mode where you don't necessarily theol- like that problem or the thing that was maybe reducing. Your energy is still there because it's not true anymore in story. I'm really interested in what you said about unhelpful and helpful foods and I think that's a really brilliant way of distinguishing them and also it makes it really easy when you feel like you're having a bad day or you're in a negative head space for you to be able to say actually maybe. I'm just being really unhelpful. Now I need to be helpful. Did where did you learn? That former was that was a business thing or is that just something you learn as a kid think somewhere. I re as much as I possibly can because I also find that reading gives you so many ideas idea whenever you stuck. I just hope right when you you are stop and you can find a little point of light. It's almost like the guy that's out of that stuck place when you're in that place where you don't have enough light really acknowledge that will take you out of there so. I tend to read anything I can. Whether or not Student 'cause you always find a little snippets of inspiration in there and someone just said very simply in its true. I guess there could be a neutral thought by means you're having a thought and it's not helpful you will. This spot isn't helpful. So let me have a different thought. I have a great example of this so we a Finance Director. At one point he was know mark the most positive person and sometimes instructors. They could be you. Want them to be constructed frugal. And that's what a good finance director and we were trying to. I think trying to sell a product to retailer and I said Hey. Could you make this call to this retailer? 'cause I'm really Swanton in Buffalo and he Had emailed me Taylor and not hurt back and I. I think I emailed him. I said so. I won't say his name. Just he's he's losing said did you the retailer. And he said yes but haven't heard back from and so they're not they're not interested. I actually laughed and I said that's running because if I emailed that person a tape myself to do this and they did email that I would say. Oh holiday it's different. He comes up when I did get back. So they're not interested at automatically. Assumes is unhelpful fe and I would think must be on holiday did time to get back to me and interestingly a couple of days later they emailed back so you can either stretch yourself out give up and say oh it's negative or you can think oh they must be reason for this and it is sprayed training to have like yourself immediately into the positive thoughts but you can do it everybody can do is just Joyce.

"Back. It hasn't been Ferguson show. So nice to have you with us tonight and some breaking news right before the election. And that is that the city of Germantown is withholding public records requests until after the election. So that you don't exactly know. What's going on in the city and what they're trying to conceal on purpose? Now, there was a finance director in Germantown until January of this year January the nineteenth. Paul Turner resigned city posted the opening on its website for that job. And then that job posting disappeared. Now the position they're claiming Patrick lot in the city of ministers, claiming we'll we'll put it back on the website soon. Why did it disappear in the first place? You already had the money for the position Germantown has more money now than they've ever had in their lives in Germantown when it comes to taxes because they've skyrocketed in Germantown taxes. Have the money was already accounted for in the budget. You could have filled this position very quickly. Not only did you not fill the position. But then you took the position down from even accepting resumes for it. Ways and gentlemen, follow the money. Not having a finance director is is is a dream for a guy like Latin. I mean who makes more money than the governor? And then they hide behind the cities and amazing financial shape with a balanced budget. And a AAA bond rating intact is the response from the city administrator Patrick glutton to the commercial appeal. Well, of course, it's intact. You guys are amazing financial shape because you have more money than you know, what to do with. I wanna know how often has gotten raises over the years and who signed off on them or if he's giving himself his own raises, and no one signing off on. I would love to know that question. Now, the commercial appeal filed a public records request for Turner's resignation letter on October the twenty second. This is a simple letter not hard to get your hands on the city said the records would not be available until November the fourteenth after the elections. Thank goodness. The commercial appeal already got a copy of these records from a resident in Germantown and filed requests in April and share those records the commercial appeal. "Our three Ben Ferguson shows so nice to have you with us tonight talking about wolf chase Galleria in a misleading race baiting article at the comical appeal the failing commercial appeal that says if you wear a hoodie to wolf chase. You get arrested, by the way, we just checked with them. All you don't get arrested for wearing a hoodie. They don't dislike arrest you for wearing a hoodie. It doesn't work that way. Just say, you know, we'll we'll continue to get your phone calls on this one and get your reaction to it. Five three five nine seven three two. You will get arrested for not keyword not. Abiding by their rules, and their rules do in fact state, no hoodies. And the reason why is because of high crime and people that have exploited the use of a hoodie to conceal their identity while shoplifting and committing crimes. It will chase. I applaud wolf chase gallery for for being smart about the crime the Chapman at their mall. And try to save them all before the mall ends up just becoming crap in closing down because people stopped going there and good stores. Stop opening there and start closing and we've already seen some of that because of the high crime. So again, we'll get your phone calls five three five nine seven three to one of the things for election day, and I wanna hit on this. There's there is inching article that is about Germantown, which says the city spends most of two thousand eighteen without a finance director. And I mentioned this to you earlier. The question is why isn't there one? Will there ever be one that's actually hired and this is causing a lot of money. Now, you already know. That the amount of money in salaries and Germantown is just incredible Patrick Lawton is making more money. Then the administrator than the governor makes his retirement is astronomical. He's well into two hundred thousand dollars a year. Well, German China's spent most of this year without a finance director. But city officials hope the position they say will soon be filled. I'm not sure that's the truth. Paul Turner resigned. January the nineteenth and the city posted the opening on its website. But the position is no longer listed with other employment opportunities in the city that position will be posted again soon, according to Pat, Patrick Lawton this city administrator, I'm gonna call the s on this one. If you want this job to be filled right of the of a finance director. Then you would never take it down off the website. Now, if you're Patrick Lawton, and you're in charge of city, and you don't have someone in the finance department telling you what you can't do financially. There's an incentive for patchy glutton. And the mayor you say, hey, we want wanna do without a finance director. Let's pull that position off the website. And I think that's the reason why that listing disappeared. Now, the idea they say that this position will show me posts. Again, why was it ever taken down answer me that question? Unless you're clearly trying to make it where you get to do what you wanna do with the money in Germantown without accountability. From a finance director. The idea that it will be posted soon. Also, I think is nothing more than the old guard in Germantown losing control over the narrative of this election and the narrative always been in Germantown. It's a great city. Keep the same people involved keep the same people in charge. Why would you change it? It's not broken. I've argued that the city of Germantown is very broken. And the current mayor has done everything he can to a peace development and apartments. And growth that I don't think it's wise for Germantown. Also, your taxes have skyrocketed in Germantown to the point where the state stepped in and mandated that the governor. Are that made the mayor and the city of Germantown lower your taxes by two cents? And then they tried to take credit for that before the election when they had nothing to do with that tax break. Now back to this issue. The city administrator patch out and says the position will be posted again soon. Why was it taken down? Everybody voting in Germany Barney's, ask yourself that question. Why is it that you lost your city finance director in January of this year? You had the opening put on the website. And then all of a sudden the the. Posting disappears. There's a reason why disappeared and it wasn't by the way because German doesn't have the money to fill the finance director's position. They clearly have the money they got more money now than they did I've ever had. They know they have more tax revenue coming in now Germantown than they've ever had before. So it wasn't a financial issue. Right. It wasn't like well, we got rid of the finance director because we couldn't afford him. No. The finance director resign. The money was already earmarked for this year salary by Paul Turner, who resigned January the nineteenth. It was already in the budget. So the money was already accounted for to hire a new finance director. So what is the reason behind not having a finance director of a city like Germantown? It's because you don't want somebody. I believe telling you what you can and can't do with your money, including your own salary, which is the issue with Latin. Now lot named a certified municipal finance officer, the interim director generated twenty nine. That person is the city's accounting manager. Ralph Gabe, a former finance director is assisting on a part time basis. Lawton is also working with the department, which is where I think there's a huge conflict of interest quote lot instead of the commercial appeal and an Email in any organization is critical to get the right fit and our city organization. We can be selective. I wish they would use that same logic. When talking about development in Germantown that you guys have been blowing up with apartments that you claim have never been built when I can drive by and see them being built you can be selective. I wish they would use that same logic to mayor of Germantown and his cronies on the on the board of aldermen when they talk about if you know, we don't have development and quick development and all these apartments and other things in his fast development that will be left behind. I wish they would use that same logic. They just used by saying the city are in our city organization. We can't be selective. You can be selective. So why are you guys always going? With the developers and not with the citizens. That's my second question to that city of Germantown. Now, he also an Email, quote, I don't intend to say anything else about the position other than the city is an amazing financial shape. They balanced budget and our AAA bond intact. There's a reason why you shouldn't have that triple Avon attack, you more tax revenue now that you've ever had because you've raised, you know, massive massive tax increases in Germantown. So you have plenty of financial money to be an amazing financial shape because you guys have skyrocketed the taxes for the citizens of Germantown. So let's not act like that some big accomplishment. You have an unbelievable property values in Germantown, you have unbelievable housing market in Germany of unbelievable building buildings property taxes for commercial property in Germantown. You should have a an amazing financial shape with a balanced budget. And you should have a triple a bond rating. Now, the commercial peel filed a public records requests for Turner's resignation letter on October the twenty second. The city said the records would not be available until November the fourteenth. Isn't that? Also interesting how the commercial appeal filed a public records requests for Turner's resignation letter. And the city says those records won't be available until after election day. I wonder what's in there. I would love to know. Wouldn't it be nice to know that before election day? And again, it's not hard to really say there's no controversy in theory over a resignation letter. There are certain records requests that are easy to fulfil. And when you have a small town like Germantown, they're even easier. Smaller towns, it's easier to get the information out there quicker because there's fewer documents in general, and the idea of the commercial appeal is filed a public records requests for this resignation letter and the city won't give it to you until November the fourteenth AFC, keyword after people already cast their votes is incredibly shady by lacks transparency this lot in the mayor. They may have thousands and thousands of they may be able to claim they got a triple a bond rating intact. Right. But they don't have AAA rating when it comes to transparency withholding documents. So after the election is exactly the opposite of transparency and don't tell me that you couldn't get this document in about thirty minutes and release it to the media if you wanted to. Now a residence a resident of Germantown filed a similar records requests in April. And she shared the records. She received with the commercial appeal. According to those records Turner's exit interview showed he was not pleased working for the suburban government, and his exit interview he identified that he was very dissatisfied with the opportunity to get things done. He also said he was undermined by other departments. And cited clicks within city hall, which is exactly what I've told you about in Germantown, if you are not Patrick Latin is making more money than the governor. That's a problem. They're not releasing records before the election. And that's just because of arrogance and power. That's a problem. Not having a finance director in Germantown if your tax payers should terrify your especially since January. I wanna to know who's been giving lot in his raises is my question. In fact, I would love to know how often lot and has gotten a raise since he started in that position. And how many times has given himself his own rates without maybe anybody even signing off on it. Public records. Request would give us that information. But of course, we're going to not get that information until after election day tomorrow. You want to know what hiding looks like you wanna know, what bearing information looks like you want to know what transparent government looks like Joe look. To German town to give that to you right now. It is very clear that the finance director is not there for reason. It's very clear that Lawton is not giving up information for reason. It's very clear that the the the mayor is having to lie to in his own words, saying he lower taxes when he didn't the state mandated it. There's more on this issue in Germantown. I'm gonna tell you about it. And again tomorrow is a big election day. I may not be out of the house and Senate on every race. But I hope this information helps you is the voters in Germantown five three five nine seven three to five three five nine seven three to the eight hundred number one eight hundred four seven four nine seven three two. We'll have more on this open records requests in Germantown, not giving up the information requested until after the election. That is the definition my opinion of just classic corruption by the city this click in the government is real the three people on the on the in the alderman Germantown always going with this mayor and having no one watching the money the way it should be with the finance director or something everyone should be concerned about Ben Ferguson show five three five nine seven three to five three five nine seven three two. "Com. And by the Bloomberg business. Good morning from London I'm Markus. Karlsson and I'm used to Dean from defy we have of course the Saudis reasserting themselves underscoring that they have this appetite for a. Much, more. Aggressive foreign policy, taking on a g ten country yeah. Absolutely taking, on Canada we'll talk more about those trade tensions of course you also have the. Tensions, between the United States and China in the trade space no letting up all of. Those tensions either during the weekend with Donald Trump talking tough we've got to Chinese authorities sort of signaling through state media this morning that. They are willing to, wait it out in this trait, standoff. So as I say no sign of any easing tension. Sir, let me talk. You. Through the. Markets here at seven oh two in London eight oh two if. You're listening in Frankfurt. Or Paris European shares rising on Friday A weekly loss judging by the futures this morning we're going to see. Gains at the, open euro stocks fifty futures higher by zero point one, four percent we're seeing footsie futures rising by, two tenths. Of one percent and get count futures. By a, quarter of, a percentage point looking at the handover from Asia the indices there are makes the Chinese and Japanese Hsieh's down while the Hang. Seng, has. Been gaining run, about six tenths of one percent we've. Been watching, HSBC shares offers second quarter earnings those shares still in positive territory but I've actually. Pad, back some of their previous advances on the back of the second quarter earnings looking. At FX the off show you on had been building on gain sir from Friday overnight but we're now seeing it weaken somewhat by about. A tenth of one, percent against the greenback surpassed still, some. Nervousness there despite this actions these measures that we saw. From, the Chinese on. Friday. Stepping into. Sort of make it more expensive too short the Chinese Yuan will Talk more about that. In just. A moment the AUSSIE dollar the biggest lager in the space against the. US greenback looking at prices they had been rising overnight. And WTI is still on the, front, foot higher. By about a quarter of a percentage points at sixty eight dollars and sixty six cents a not a lot of movement. When it comes to Brent crude. At seventy three dollars and twenty seven cents we are seeing metals coming under pressure on the off by two point two percent when I. Look at zinc prices this morning on the enemy. Copper prices off by nine tenths, of one percent use yeah we have some earnings out from one of the heavyweight lender SoftBank coming in with first quarter operating profit of seven hundred and fifteen billion a year in they're saying, that the first quarter was boosted by two hundred and forty four point nine billion in vision fund valuation gay I think. There's going to, be considerable focus on any news around on a succession, plan positive could grab the attention of investors, of course. They're all society here First quarter derivative loss of fifty, four. Point -o eight billion year these are the lines that are coming through as we speak. And we keep a close eye on. The story. As in developed markets Yeah absolutely let's dig. Into our top stories in the meantime and as I say trade very much front and center. President, Donald Trump has defended his. Use of tariffs that have inflamed tensions with China as well as Europe he told an audience of diehard supporters on. Saturday that playing hardball on trade is, my thing Bloomberg's Tom MacKenzie has the details his comments came after Beijing announced plans to impose retaliatory duties on an additional sixty billion dollars worth of US goods if Washington continues. To ramp up tariffs China's list covers more, than five thousand. US products ranging from meat to. Ellen g if an acted they'd cover around seventy percent of, all US goods shipped to China in Shanghai Tom MacKenzie Bloomberg daybreak Europe Yeah Yeah so I just want to jump in here Marcus because we had some numbers. Here German manufacturing orders just run, run run through this down four percent month on. Month the estimate was for down half of one. Percents this is a sizable contraction on those journ determined June manufacturing orders something to bear in mind as we get into the conversation with Mark Cranfield from the markets live team and I wanna stay sick, back perhaps stay with the macro view on China initiated curbs on FX. Derivatives how is that playing out in the? Markets at the? Moment We'll probably not quite as well as China was hoping the currency the stomach. To gain a bit first thing, this morning but it reversed some of that as. The equity market sorry to weaken a bit and. They degree emphasize these restrictions are not just on the Ford foreign exchange server also another derivatives including swap transactions and option transactions but all in all the currencies only very mildly stronger than it was on, Friday and it hasn't really I did much to the gains that we're. Seeing in the first few minutes after the announcement on Friday I suppose the question. That follows then Mark is what needs to change to make these. Measures perhaps more effective in. Order to strengthen the the the you on in a more meaningful way it seems that Jerry does really. Want to see some stability in, the equity market so one of the things they were. Looking at today was that as soon as the equity market started to to go softer than the assumption. Is that the Chinese authorities would increase the stimulus or they're not, around the reserve requirement cuts to. Make interest rates lower, in China surf they're doing that then there's nothing in. The Ford market to support. The stronger currency so this currency can weaken it's almost becoming a catch twenty two. Situation for the, Chinese authorities until they can stabilize. The equity market the other things were not kicking so they really need to get. To grips with that. And then traders will be more confident that they really serious about trying to stabilize the currency as well All right we'll leave it there Mark Cranfield thank you very much for your time that quick reminder for real time, market commentary and analysis. Check out the markets lifelock that's m. l. i. v. on your. Bloomberg terminal now another story. Developing this morning earnings out of HSBC the banks second quarter profit came in ahead of estimates but the. CEO John Flint's push for growth, in Asia has yet to translate into significant revenue growth. That seems earlier we spoke to the finance director Ian MCI and asked him about the health of HSBC In good shape this morning The numbers Second quarter very much, in line With our our expectations So that, was the finance director Ian MCI? Speaking, earlier to Bloomberg yeah that's such an earlier Saudi Arabia. Has frozen trade investment diplomatic ties with Canada in the latest escalation of their dispute over the kingdom's arrest of a women's rights activists that we have come recalled its ambassador to Ottawa at order the Canadian envoy to leave. Within twenty, four hours last week Canada criticized Saudi, Arabia's arrest of activists including Canadian citizen Savar Dowie bear in mind that we did see dollar CAD move by about three, tenths of one percent but that spirit gains since the Bank of Canada on track to raise rates that's giving. "The reason being is because invest is arguably reluctant to buy in at this stage when they speak on nine fine is looming on the horizon martyn you wanted to add something on that indeed just from talking to some of the investment bankers some of whom i know listen to the show and investors as well big investors in obvious i have picked up that they sense no urgency in government ranks to push ahead with selling shares in rbs because the government ease weakened by the loss of its outright majority in june's election but also putting much distracted by infighting between cabinet ministers and the priority is all about brexit at anything else is a distraction for the government and i think the weakness of the government of the moment means that they just don't want to take on any additional headaches and this would be another headache because the shazar trading far below the in price which is above five pounds but also below the three pound thirty price at which the government under george osborne previous chancellor sold a first tranche of shares a couple of years ago one thing we didn't touch on with un stimpson walls what his joe bat look is heaping finance director for a few years some people are suggesting he could be a candidate to succeed ross mcewan as chief executive what are your thoughts on yes you in is certainly one passing he may be on the shortlist replacing plus mccarron if of course he goes to australia he's been rumored to be a commonwealth bank of australia candidate for the chief exective there have been remiss recently and he did for me what baroness understood that he previously for his hat into the ring to be chief exective at that bank that humans not the only name on a less than its purview as saying that he's may slightly peasant to step into the role an interim basis shit mrmic you leave but other names that have cropped up reasoning lead allison raise you heads up the commercial division of the banks say is this anyone's watch indeed best move on to a secondstorey the european central bank has come up with some new proposals for the way in which bad loans opera vision four by the eurozone's banks martyn they stand quite dramatic talking about 100 percent provisioning but maybe not as dramatic as they signed.

"No uh that is one of the amazing things about what we're doing here with amazon is that it's a sharing in a transformation has looked most products you don't really need to feel them you don't need to touch them he just need to look at them and get an idea of what they're about and then uh you go ahead and you buy them in look amazon guarantees your satisfaction guaranteed you're going to be happy with the product and then burma you get it in a couple of days and that's it and then you know onto the next products so it to be in that marketplace and that's what it is really really can give you returns away past at any of the boring returns that you get in real estate boring and steady and let's face it in real estate you own an asset and that assets probably going to stick around for a long time and appreciate and value but nowhere near what amazon is a doing for you right now that's rain in and that's why i say amazon is just the low hanging fruit it's your launch it's kinda like you're you're training ground because i mean it's number it's not a get rich quick i i can't stand when people say oh to sell on amazon i'm going to be rich her that's not true like it's like anything else it takes work you know even the guys that transition from selling horse and bugis some of them said no no horse in buggies gonna come back and ominous stick with that well they were hardheaded and they learned the hard way the people that said hey you know what i think a car might be a wave of the future i i mean it's just a hunch because it's so much more efficient i can drive it and i don't need defeated i give it some gas and i think this car thing might actually work out those people were the ones that ended up making multi fortunes right like over and over again i remember a story and i don't like to get into too many stories but it's a great story so when i was in finance i was the finance director and i mentioned that on a couple of previous podcast but i was a finance director.
