"Want to talk to him but i don't think they really believe that he's going anywhere. I just think you know it's like if the most attractive person high school a single. Shoot your shot right. But i think the danger here for carolina is i think people are gonna look at it like if you don't take care of this guy who are you gonna take care world. Here's my question about it. And yeah like here's a guy that just wants to be in carolina period. Is it essentially for rod brindamour. And by the way right. Now elliott. correct me. If i'm wrong is pumping gas. That's true as he does this. Podcast i can hear the beeps going off in the background is it carolina bust rod brind'amour's. Everybody believes that that's what he wants. I don't know. I don't know like every day that goes by until we get an answer we don't know but it's weird like it's jeff by everybody's wondering just wait there waiting for the final announcement clarity and you know what i think like. This hasn't been nailed down yet. When do you see happening with team in the off season. There's a dougie hamilton situation. There's a goaltending situation. There is a hey look. We now have cap space situation. What happens carolina like. I don't think he's gonna change a lot. They're a team. That has made a lot of really shrewd moves. A lot of their gambles that they've made have been very good. They're not a hockey organization. They do a lot of things you know. I think another story here. That's going to be interesting. Is going to be spectacle. No we've talked about is. Negotiations turned down a long term deal. You know. I think he cares a lot. I do think he's a very big part of their team. I think ownership has a loyalty to him. He was their top pick and they really like him a lot internally. So i think weird that goal. I don't expect dougie hamilton to be the bidding for him is going to be very interesting. Like i think there's gonna be a ton of interest in him. Is that going to be a alex. Portraying gelo type bidding. It could be yeah tape interest. you know. He's a big strong score. I don't know if he's gonna quite get that number you might. He's going to up there. You know especially costs needs. What's that he needs. A mark berge avai-. Why do you say that he needs an offer. Sheet avenue needs to get that deal done. I gotta tell you something. I'm very curious to see what the offer sheet. Numbers are going to be this year. Because they're going to be low. Yes they will. Okay from carolina to boston bruins around balanced by the islanders questions about players. Like to ask david krejci taylor hall. Where do we go with the boston. Bruins now and is all of it revolve around what happens with the goaltender. I think it's more than just the goaltending. So what do we know about to harass. We know that he wants to be a bruin or nothing else. We know that he needs surgery. And he's gonna be out until sometime in the middle of next season so maybe they have to go out and get another goalie too. But i think that thing with with rascasse. I only judge other people how i judge myself and i tried to put myself into other people's shoes and think what are they thinking. First of all we all know the guys compete in the playoffs. When they're hurt and sometimes really badly hurt but part of me wondered of rask look at all the criticism he took last year for doing what any father would have died going home to be with his family in a very tough situation where his daughter was really battling things and said you know what i left last year. I can't leave my team this year. I got a play. I mean all you had to do is watch the games to see. He was really battling it. And i have no doubt that part of a mess thinking. I have to stand up for my teammates. I left last year. And i'm not doing it again this year because i know that in that situation i would probably be thinking that like one of the reasons. Shy flea is so upset is because he gets injured. Last unit gets suspended this year and he can't be with his teammates when they've lost twice. Whether you agree or disagree that is the way he feels. And so i wondered if rask going through some of the same things but now at least we have a clear opinion or idea on rask. We know what he's thinking so that to me is always the big question about the bruins is. Who's coming back. You know bergereon. He has said that he's a year to year guy now and i know he's got another year left on his contract but i always wonder. Is this the summer where he says. It's time my body's just been through too much now. He got through this year. Healthy and okay. So i think that's a good sign that he's back but you always wonder with him. Is he the kind of guy who just says you know what. I reached a point where my body can't handle it anymore and it's just time now doesn't sound like that's the case but whenever i'm dealing with boston i always think about that. These guys who've been through a lot. They've done a lot together. Their bodies have been through a lot. And i really felt it last year that they knew especially with chara that he may not be coming back and he didn't so i wonder do they sit there amongst each other and say who's coming back and who's not and it sounds like they all wanna come back which is a good sign but until you through a few weeks in the offseason you never know..

"Row madrid. I thought severe played off the park in the first half playing without a without a recognised striker. This was a hangover. And is this another example of china that madrid never say die until the end quality that or just sheer dumb luck that they got the equaliser in in in in such a such a way. 'cause shot was definitely going out. I thought not talking watching severe. I was kind of brought to mind some of those performances from boss loaned kouadio la where just had the to just moved it and moved and moved and keep moving and it was the degree of control was was really quite something and watching up close because i was ever says well it was. It was very very striking the ease with which severe seemed to be able to control the game. It's true huge amount of challenge. But they were much much side although madrid did react in terms of your your question about is this real madrid. Always finding the life last night that they didn't win made me think well you know this talks didn't find a way for but actually if you look at the table and the way as now that nine minute goal from tiny crews redden has depending on who you're giving it to actually could be huge because it keeps row madrid's about boss alone them and it also puts it in a position now going into the final four games that yes the league titles athletic images hands but if not let's go produce much draw now it goes back into roman hands and obviously without that goal they would have needed outlets country to lose one of those games. Not just not just a drawer.

"Deep in the heart of Texas after the regular bears broke the hearts of basketball fans across the Northwest. Is ABC. TJ Holmes. The Baylor Bears the national champions and winning their first title in school history is really like a family like After 30 days in the bubble, we ate together watched movies together. We did everything together, and that's just a really cool thing. I remember that probably more than win the championship. Baylor guard Jared Butler was named most outstanding player after his 22 point performance that included 43 pointers and leading Baylor's beat down of the bulldog. Gonzaga. Enter the championship matchup Undefeated 31. Oh, but was in trouble right out of the gate, going down nine to nothing in the opening minutes with After surviving last rounds late game thriller, Gonzaga was hoping for more magic and a comeback. It's really really tough wand. And storybook season on and obviously we're all disappointed in here. But, you know, as I told the guys like you make it this far in your 31. I know going into the last one. There's absolutely nothing you should ever feel bad about. But Jalen subs in the Bulldogs never recovered from Baylor's devastating opening blow. The city of Waco deserves this Texas way. Got a national championship to the state deserves it. "Were your thoughts on Thursday our Houston before we move into the big one that before the bad guy. I think that Davion Mitchell is such an annoying Defender. I mean that and the highest respect regard he he just forced his players into badge. Even when they make it and one of the announcement a game in that the first Final Four game said don't take it personally and it's so true. He had backpacks were steals. He reached in his slit its feet and cut his manage charges flops. You don't know what you're really going to get out of those guys offensively one of these players that Jean gerow was writing some hot streak for Houston into the tournament back to spike the score a little bit and then you look at the box score. He's three for 10 with six points and five turnovers. Those are the type of games that they be on Mitchell can force you into having agreed with you how good he was was offensively zero turnovers against a team in Houston that wants to speed you up and make bad decisions is semi incredible and the game really was over by halftime and it was just how much can this deficit be cut into and there is no looking back. Jerry Butler was great 17.6 of nine shooting for free from 3 a guy that just never seems really sped up even wage. Trapped he was under control. He was composed and without Marcus after having 17 points in the first half that game could have been way worse, which is crazy to say.

Jeff that's the phrase that gets thrown around but there are not many moments in sports history like what happened with gonzaga in the final four. You were there just broad historical analysis year. What did we witness. I mean it was the best game i've ever seen in person or on tv and it wasn't a game where the ending masked a you know sloppy but close game. This was just just unbelievable. Basketball for forty. Five minutes. Both teams making shots. No team led by more than seven points the the tension and the butterflies ahead throughout the game. It was just unlike anything. I've witnessed the shot at the end. Just just kind of cap it all off just mentioned that that shot by suggs. Walk us through it from your perspective. What you're seeing. "final four" Discussed on The Her Hoop Stats Podcast

"I always talked with the book reading still reading a pat summits biography summit up at the part where she is. She had to play dawn. Staley and virginia believe in the elite eight. Oh yes and dawn. Staley kill them. I think this might have been was. This might have been eighty nine so it's might have been the same year you with virginia It was i think ninety ninety dollars this. She was two years behind so she was her sophomore year. And didn't it go double overtime or something. Yes and you still. And then they played again In the in the final four the next the championship game the next year so cat summit has the utmost respect on because she was like this person was killing us like. She didn't wanna how she she was having. She had to have her. She went on a recruiting trip and she was going to have her her kid. Tyler i remember that and then she was. They were gonna land in virginia and she refused to land in virginia because she did not wanna have the kid in virginia because of dawn staley. That's just that's just the thing about don staley by want to mention because it was really funny but dawn. I this is to me the best defense in the country in terms of just like like you mentioned they health texas scoreless in the texas team teams. Good as we saw maryland like this team is real good. They can beat you at what's really happening. That's great for south. Carolina is desire. Cook is taking control of the team. She is saying because elliott boston's great. But when your best when you're relying on your post player to score all the points it's tough for them to do what they do on the defensive end and the ncw tormenta teenage good too much energy and being expanded on that. So i think ziya cook coming out and being the leader on this team. Both ends has been huge for them. Yes it's been amazing. And i think they've needed that all along when they lost those couple of games a nancy c. competition before the term it it was because they were relying mostly on the guards and they went away from boston on the interior With back inside boston announced. I gets going back out to cook. You know i mean. I think they. That's the beauty of their roster. Get into the paint store. That's the biggest thing against they are you know at the bercy. Tilleke of that is what you want going into the final four. You don't lie your interior player to be the one who is dependent upon because they can skiing a little bit differently against the posts a double up while up on the weak side. Make it a lot more difficult to get touches to those players so the fact that cook is able to get loose along the perimeter but also say game tactic aids off of drives. They said a lot of nice screens along that weak side and she can get downhill accent. I think that's the that's been great to see for south carolina. I think they're going to change. Need that product balance. It's not going to be all not going to be all boston. But both of them together. That's what they need. They need them both at their highest levels. And you have to respect their. If you're defending if you're an opponent you have to respect what cook does and that's gonna make it a little more easy for a boston on on the side to get the touches that she wants where she wants it. Which is right in that. Restricted areas can finish easily. I think definitely has just playing really well to also quietly. Victorious accidents having an amazing torments. She's been a huge for this team. Like g has been really. She's been really won't talk points against texas six eight from the field a rebounds like doing doing a of everything to get this team over the hump latisha A may also playing really really well So south carolina's clicking a definitely say south carolina's clicking right now and defense. I don't wanna play like it's a team. That's a team out to kill you yet. Do you want to talk about arizona in indiana. That was a good game. And both teams are shined for making their first date. But i a pause for second on the basketball as you mentioned to. Wnba players to black women. Coaching in this final four for the first time was a mean to you kristie. Oh wow that means everything to me. i'll tell you you're not. I posted something. I said You know they're not just the recruiters. And i put recruiters in air quotes because when i was coaching in college and i heard it so this is not like some kind of like thing that i was assuming or guessing. This is what about no. No no this was something that i actually heard k Their boxes that needed to be checked in the hiring process. And there has to be one of these one of these bodies seriously many. I heard that so for me. I'm not just putting out there like you say something you know for. Don't care at no one liked it. I'm saying because that's that's by personal experience and that's what it was for me your recruiter. You get kids in here. And then we'll do the work you're just recruit them and i think there hasn't been the opportunity for black women to prove that they are worthy of success.

Staley indiana south carolina two years Cook ninety ninety dollars texas next year both Tyler both teams elliott boston first time first date second kristie ziya cook six Both ends virginia

And now they're rising to the level defending and we heard charles barkley talked about it yesterday and his analysis and i thought he was spot on gonzaga's too so the team concept j. They're not nearly as talented as you guys. But they're buying in as a team that connectedness is taking them to another one. I have jordan saying mark fields. Better coaching coach. I have all remark view. I have all the respect for this team. I actually want to see them win a championship. I picked him to win a championship. Because i want the narrative to stop about mark view being able to accomplish the greatest feat right which is winning it. But i am looking at the rest of college basketball and people say well look this team. They ran through the gauntlet. I'm like kansas. Wasn't that great this year like west. Virginia okay there but west virginia this year. I'm not looking at this west. Virginia team comparing him the years before and saying this is one of the best teams that west. Virginia's had this is not the same. Uva team from two years ago that won a championship. Like they're good but okay like these cows basketball's in a different space because talent wise is in a different space. No no no no. And i love the both of you guys. Bring that perspective because you have played at that level at that high level so you understand what it looks like in what you see and this is just a well coached team. No doubt about it. That's playing great but just so much higher than everybody else so far the competition. Yes so far. Eight eight say. Espn eight seven to nine. Three seven seven six. so where does gonzaga. Where do they rank among the all time greats. Yeah we're going to do and you heard what these guys said. They might not. They might not be that great of a team all time. But because you're undefeated now you're in the final four. You're in that conversation. So we'll discuss that more with you. And after jay. Has this from straight talk wireless. It's time for some straight talk. Look your tax return. Look different this year. But you're still going to hear a lot of noise about how.

"The AFC championship. I am delighted to be joined by the legend the guru the expert. It's a vaunt swamy. I'm not in front of it. The source right now. Running out of Nouns Kuyper Junior. Call me along with Chris. Co hosts first draft. which podcast Ashley? Start listening to now to get ready for the draft mellows also a sad dad Baltimore Ravens Fan so he got A. I really a close up. Look at the Tennessee. Titans and I want to talk to you really about the titans defense I and we can talk about how they match up with the chiefs offense because that's truly going to be a thrilling match up. I was blown away by the Titans Defense in in this game I am. We're talking defense mel that you know by most metrics including football outsiders. Devia waste was average at best during the regular season. I've praised their front seven draw. Casey elect their linebackers one of them. Jaylen Brown didn't even play in this game and this is where it was hard to you. I did not see leave them. Dominating a very good ravens offensive line to that extent. I'm solid against the run. They had been but I think in this game remember Mark Ingram was if he and we had the calf injury and you saw how that affected him if I saw Mark Andrews not one hundred percent with a high ankle sprain impacted him on that I ball that could have been caught in fact was intercepted intercepted. That changed the whole complexion the game early so I think the injury issue on offense really impacted the Ravens. The obviously Ingram was so key to what they did. But Lamar running the football. The ball and Andrew so critical is the number one goto option. So you'll limit what they're getting out of those two at hurts that offense and then to see fifty nine attempts. Lamar was completing was attempting. Seventeen to twenty five passes in most Games Meena. He was at fifty nine there. It was at thirty four and a loss to Cleveland forty three and a loss to Kansas City early in the a year I think it got away from Greg Room. The game got away from him. And I think the pass attempts not GonNa win throwing the ball fifty nine times the Baltimore Ravens. That didn't happen and they had plenty of opportunities or lease to get back in this game numerous times it just could not make a play at critical moments. I would've kicked a field of fourteen six to get your team mentally and charged charge that fan base and put pressure Tennessee. Knowing that a touchdown now and they're losing only the touchdown in two to tie it but analytics not a wins out with the Ravens. And that's what they go by. That's what they kind of lived with a little bit in this game. If you've been afraid all season on fourth down it's understandable. I didn't love the call both times. Really you know running inside but I think you're really right to point out that sort of got away from their identity as a team and I don't know how much of that was this game script versus coaching. decision-making necessarily I think one thing I noticed again on the watch was so during the game in my preview about the titans I said I love this front seven. The secondary is not good after this game. I was like when did the titans secondary turn into the Legion of boom. Like we did a door Jackson become the best cover corner in football and then when I re watched it I realized yes they were very good but there are also extremely advantageous situations playing a ton of man on third and long. which as you know? The reasons just weren't in that position during the regular season. And what really struck me about. It was not Lamar Jackson missing. Missing a ton of throws he you know he wasn't perfect game but I felt this game really exposed the ravens wide receivers because they could not separate at all. Well they're not. They've never been a receiver team. They're tight end team. Yeah they're they're a Mark Andrews Hayden hearst. Nick boil blocking getting the ball to ingram running football throwing it to him. Am that's what they are. Hollywood brown catch a few SNEAD. Maybe one or two games where the receivers when caught four or five passes and they were rolling up big numbers. This is a Lamar Jackson accent. Mark Andrews Mark Ingram offense bottom line and two of those three components. Were not one hundred percent Ingraham not even close to one hundred percent and I think you look back and I thought just going and what do you have to do to Tennessee to beat them. You Got Eliminate Thera- countering the second EPOCA. Seventy five percent of his yards came in the second half of games. So why would you eliminate you know if you're up by fourteen seventeen derrick. Henry can't be a factor so I thought going into halftime. If the Ravens were only winning by three to seven or Tennessee had lead the ravens were in a little bit of trouble is the Ravens. had a seventeen point lead there in great shape and unfortunately if the Ravens it didn't happen Tennessee had control Derrick Henry was able to be a factor throughout the game and I think moving forward. Do you want to spin it forward. What's the key to Kansas City? And mahomes you know they're gonNA air it out all over the place get elite get a significant lead and and then all of a sudden Tennessee's at different from football team. I just don't think you can ever count out this. Kansas City offense which is the best left in the postseason I felt so bad for Lonnie Johnson in the Houston game. You know. And it wasn't the he wasn't the only only player they I mean at one point they were doubling Kelsey. But you just can't there's so many playmakers in Kansas City that you wanna the double or bracket and obviously you can't do that to more than one player and I think it doesn't you can take out Kelsey in a game. You can take out hill in a game you can take out Hartman in a game. Someone else else is going to eat right now. In the past when we've talked about mahomes smell we've talked about The one thing you can do to stop up him. I guess the the Patriots had success. Last year was disguising their coverages. Tricking him Just really like the only way. You can stop any a great quarterback and I do think if I had to give one on a reason to be optimistic about the Tennessee. Defense in this matchup is. They're really good at that Demsey's AP's in particular you know. He's really really good at coming up with creative blitzes. Creative pressure is creative disguise. which actually didn't really do a ton the Baltimore game but I think that's something they could use in the Kansas City game to try to stop mahomes because you're right I if if they're up at halftime it's probably over? I would say it's yeah I would think if you can't have Henry where I say majority of his yards came in the second half being able to pound at Ya you then. They aren't allowed to receive. Don't get a lot of separation. Then you get. Ball's tipped off some hands intercepted and when it goes from bad to worse so I I agree with what you said about the great respect from home in Baltimore. He's a phenomenal defensive coordinator. Hey Brent Venables phenomenal defensive coordinator for Clemson Right. He mixes up things better than anybody. He gives you heat the skies is he changes things up for a quarter per quarter quarter F and it was all over. And that's what happens when you have borough and college you have homes in the NFL. Now those two quarterbacks or special at their respective levels because you can't stop them and again for Tennessee. It's tough. They seem to have that. They seem that they had the it factor going for him. They're leaving it. They're feeling it but now you Kansas City who is a different entity entirely Barring a horrible day where say mistakes all over the place for Kansas City and they they really overlook and I don't know how overlook anybody underestimate whatever Tennessee. I don't know how that can happen based on what they did in Baltimore but Kansas City if Andy. Reid can't finish this off and I'm a big fan of known anti for a long. Mm Time He. This is the game I'd say for him personally. This is must win as an AK Mandy raise had probably in this respect of critics and his entire career I want to talk with the offense Because they're really what they did in the last game was really frigging weird the fact fact that they were so gained on yardage by your team. the fact that also you know th they didn't have a single drive that went over over forty five yards. They won that game because turnovers and field position. Like I know yes. Derrick Henry was the star and he was phenomenal. You guys couldn't stop him and I don't think Kansas City will have any trouble either But ultimately the Tennessee offense didn't have to do very much in the ravens game. And you had. It was a combination as you mentioned there's Derrick Cannery and also Ryan Hill hitting twice one on a action pass that I do not know how the Ravens defense didn't see coming. It was sold it really well. It was like out a heavy. They had henry deep in the backfield but every single person I know is screaming at their TV. They're gonNA take a shot and they did and then that insane past has to Johnny Smith and that I think brings up the other thing that's so bonkers about this titans offense. which is they're scoring? Every time they're in the red zone now historically which is the other reason aside from turnovers they want. That's not usually sustainable. So I want to ask you what you think about. You know. Having seen this titans offense having seen how successful they've been since leading Taniela takeover in the red zone. Do you think they can keep it up. I'm not GONNA say that. Can't I mean what they did in this game. Was I think reflective of rate coaching and situational football seeing that we got a third down. Throw it up in the end zone and they did it. Smith made a great catch. It was a phenomenal catch. And then after you get the four thousand stop as you said what happens sudden change as you get out there. You stop them defenses. Let down and you go for the jugular. Say I'M GONNA I'M GONNA air it out. Deep and Humphry got beat. And there you go touchdown boom so again. Every time they had to make one key away they did the third and twelve touchdown pass great. Catch coming out after the fourth down. Stop Boom touchdown. Pass the Ravens fourth and one at four hundred one stuffed okay..

"Read an answer some questions with me Chris. Let's do this first. Question is from C. H. J. HDC v H. That's my burner this kind of fun. If you were going to make a team out of just one player playing every position so I guess you could clone him. Who would you pick modern era only because this otherwise? It's just Jim Brown folks who come to mind. This is the answer. I would give George Kettle. Well actually I wouldn't okay. George Cadle Grant Kam Chancellor Derrick Henry Julius Peppers Cam Newton Kenny. Easley love that Brian Urlacher. I have a good one okay and I wrote the story one time Cam Newton when he entered the draft was six six to fifty had just absolutely eviscerated. SEC fences dances. As a runner led the commerce. A runner and as a passer six six to fifty is like a good night at. Ruth's Chris from Nick like Bosa and he's twitchy Iran's four six you could easily fatten him up I for this story. I talked to his His JC coach Midland Texas. Meena and he said I wanted to put cam at safety. He would kill people. Can you imagine peak twenty-three-year-old Cam Newton roaming the middle of the field with his wingspan. It's it's literally Brian or lack remember or lack whereas like six five you could run a cover to with them because he just ate up the middle of the field for me this era. It's like Peak Cam Newton because I can talk myself into him at like a lot of positions right now and I even checked the hand size for tight end then. I think the right answer. Because you want a quarterback and it's hard like I you can get cute. It was like a piece of hill or something Or you know like George biddle. And just don't throw it. But I think cam the optionality gives you the strength is ridiculous soccer player. Four seven three eight three three asks on the open market. How much money would you give a running back? WHO's guaranteed exactly one yard it per carry? Meaning you could always convert every third or fourth down in one. I mean the Patriots did it for ten years with Tom Brady and he was taken under under market value. Let me put it this way. Would you spend a draft pick on a guy. Hey who's guaranteed a yard. This is so fun no because I draft for upside and one year is is not only seven around around. anyways you have a guy on your roster you know is GonNa get you third and one. It's guaranteed it's like he's an X.. Men and his superpower glitch. It's basically glitch in the game. Yeah of course his wolverine all you gotta get that gets one yard. Yeah because then every down on the field for you every set down his nine yards. I'm Gonna I would pull the data on this. I would guess teams in. Yeah but it's it's nine nine yards but you need to get those nine yards to access them so in terms of a superpower like it's like a really cool knife you half but it's on your heel and you gotta like think of the way to position yourself with companies that knife to murder somebody we swirly word. It completely changed the way you game plan in a very interesting way. Great question all right snipe awkward questions. Jay Snipe asks who is a spicy one. Why is drew brees praised for winning one super bowl? Aaron Rogers is criticized for winning. Only one super bowl. This is fun. Is that true. That sounds like that. Sounds like right out of like twitter twitter hive based on people's fan bases please. First of all. That would absolutely be a topic on. I take having steak would absolutely come by. So don't don't put this on twitter only and secondly I actually noticed. This felt to me like the first saints. Playoff elimination wear Arab breeze really started getting heat. You know what I have noticed. This time I think Meena is that there is a portion of drew brees career where he was a compiler. AL pulled up here. Two thousand five through two two thousand sixteen drew brees never joined the. I don't throw interceptions club that Tom Brady. And Aaron Rodgers founded where you could be brilliant and completely mistake Free Russell. So Wilson has joined it. Drew brees threw at least ten interceptions every single season. Here's two hundred and thirty seven over the course of his career so I I would argue that. That criticism of Rogers is because people think Rogers and the goat conversation in terms of his peekskill set. Whereas I think drew brees is in and the second tier of that conversation? And he's he's more of Asia compiler he's more of a guy where over the course of his career. The numbers added up. Eddie Murray did it in baseball. It's just one of those things where you're like. Oh really that guy's got six hundred home runs is a pretty good player right. When the when he broke the record at the end of the regular season you started to hear a little bit of? How can we don't talk about your reason? The goat and then when the playoffs happened you started to hear. That's why you don't talk about drew brees and the goat conversation. Both of which I feel like are probably not not right by the way. There's also something that you can't escape with brees. It's that you know. All the credit for for overcoming the shoulder injury that you know two thousand four two thousand five. We thought that might be it but again I also can't escape the idea that Sean Payton unlocked the sky and because because their their careers run concurrently and and you know I mean tastes on hill goes is that there are things you're like. There's a lot of thought around the league that if the guy's playing quarterback for Sean Payton he's going to be pretty good so I don't know I mean I. It's interesting because the Rogers here's the whole conversation around his time in Green Bay meaning he was doing amazing. Things statistically amazing things in winning a lot and a lot of people believed that it was in spite of his coach and I think with drew brees. We think it's a lot more because of his head coach. And maybe that's just an interesting. This season ended hid in the Rogers thing this season Kinda become an interesting reverse referendum on especially as Roger struggled in the second half on Mike McCarthy I mean the two thousand eighteen packers average twenty five point three points a game the two thousand nineteen packers averaged twenty five point three points per game. I mean you can't write that better last question since this is a good one for you because you oast a draft. PODCAST urge everyone to subscribe to. It's not about the draft though sort of as a pig pen. ninety-one wants to know if we think the raiders will hold onto Derek Carr upon their move or shop around and draft a quarterback. So this to me is fascinating. Because if you'd asked me me this halfway through the season I would said Derek Carr is the guy no question but he really tailed off season any tailed off in a way that can kind of kind of confirmed all of the criticism of him. The risk aversion I think some of the mental he. He's risks and kind of captures all of it quite frankly In a way that makes me feel like it might be uninspiring if they stick with him so I would not personally all answer i. I think they're going to bring in some competition. I don't think they're I'm going to drop car but I do think they're going to consider someone else. Yeah I I'm right with you just to put the situation in context context Derek Carr. He's had a season where I believe he was second in. MVP Voting Meena. So He's shown twenty th some high peaks. The question is like when he's not do you know when he's not there you just don't know what you have. I I actually thinking back to what Gruden has done in his career I actually. I think it's highly possible that they keep car even though he's only a five million dead cap hit if they let him go and and they also bring in like legit competition either either through the draft or in a free agency period. Where there's just a lot of names out there? If you think a name like Andy Dalton crazy like why we're talking about Ryan Tannehill Hannah Hill an MVP discussions right now people and you know one thing I'll say about this is people. Don't remember this. I barely do. But if you think back to Gruden's career he had an incredible breakthrough in Oakland when he brings back rich Gannon. WHO's in like I don't know he's like thirty four and thirty five any takes him to an MVP season thirty seven and he takes into an MVP season that brings me? I mean I've been thinking other than draft. Are there any potential free agents out there that Gruden in particular given his proclivities right might be interested in like. Would he go for Phil. Wherever I mean I'll just say this I know for a fact I'm not betraying anything here? Like gruden loved Marcus. Mariota during that draft. He loved his preparation. I remember talking to John. Like during the pre-draft process about he was like him down for. QB Camp and the Guy Did he took twenty five pages of notes. What's so now it'd be a great guy to bring in? I mean it's not going to cost them a lot right if so if John's thinking at all about you know what I'd like to see what what what I could do with one of these guys that can move a little bit can steal some yards. I'd like to put in some more of these. RPO concepts. I'd like to just do some of this stuff like that's that's a shot on. I mean he he could call up Mario and just and see what he has. I mean the interesting thing about John is that he actually actually prepared. And I'm sure this has been out there but he kind of like prepared for the NFL draft when he was doing it as a broadcaster kind of like he was like. I wanted to be able to know if I could draft some of these guys. And you know the quarterback's stuff was real it was on TV and you'd cut it down to thirty minutes but it was real. It was seven and eight hours over a couple apple days where he chewed the bread with these guys and got into it and so it's interesting because you know this but like like you always like how did that guy get a big free agent contract and you and you go back and you're like Oh. They loved him in the draft. The Patriots Love Stefan Gilmore. And they think they can unlock unlocked. Something and it'd just be interesting Mariota's one that pops up to me because I know gruden really liked them but again I don't know but I know they're not going to have to go four. Here's an eighty million dollars to get market Mario on the roster all right. Thanks Chris. We're GONNA have Mellon next. I'M GONNA drive to a daycare center For.

"Let's keeping Bosa and Ford fresh. You know these are these are tropes but that's actually a little bit real as you get to week eighteen in week. Nine thousand nine here. We saw Texans defense that was being chased and they were absolutely exhausted. And it and it just it rectum. You know they ha- mahomes went into cheat mode and they just they just got tired and I really think that. That's a risk for this green bay defense as well because if it's if if Kyle Shanahan is on schedule again it's a trope but it's real. It's winning offense. If Kyle Shanahan is on schedule Yikes like Deebo. Samuel has come into play here a little bit more. You Know San Fran has just has low key more weapons than you think because you see most run popoff running into like who's that guy and you're like he looks good and they have that throughout the offense right now. I feel like you and I need to have like a good will hunting. It's it's not your fault style moment about your we'll do it another time WH- praised the niners defense a lot and I basically they said they have no flaws at this point which is a bit overstatement. But so I'M GONNA I'm GonNa say something negative to balance that make packers fans feel better about this game. Jimmy Garoppolo was not good in the last game. I very early on. I texted someone he wants to you. Just kind of felt a pack in Niners fans got mad at me. I think it was last week for saying every couple games or so Garoppolo. Just can't stop reading underneath defenders and and it happened in ultimately didn't matter. They're totally and something we've seen him due. Frankly all season and that part of the field by the way is so important Toco Shanahan's offense off of play action. Like if you can actually take that part of the field away from her or use it your advantage against Garoppolo you can really punish them. And then after I think after that Garoppolo through it like twice. I think I just took the football out of his hands. And it's a credit to run game that it doesn't matter sometimes box scores lie and sometimes they don't but this was fourteen ten at halftime. It wasn't twenty one to three and it ended up with forty seven carries through the ball. Nineteen Times I mean this. This is bill parcells giant stuff here and it worked and it didn't feel that close in the fourth quarter my concern also that the packers defense is not as good as the Vikings defense fence which is not poop boy. I mean early in the game. I didn't know hunter worked. Mike Lynch ea a couple of times and I. We're seeing. Well Okay we can. We can make a game here. You know 'cause I love this. Vikings defensive line and and then as the game went on I mean the niners offensive line which I thought was had the disadvantage in this matchup really came together right like they've got a backup at center in Garland I pointed out as a potential essential issue because the Nikes in particular so good at moving their pass rushers inside and exploiting matchups but he held his own. Mike mcglinchey figured it out. I mean if you run the ball all that much. That effectively in the defense knows you're running it. Your offensive line is probably pretty good summit. Obviously it's changed hands so it's scheme and deception all that but I thought they were really impressive now. Green Bay comes to town. And what do you think is the strength of their defense other than Syria Smith. It's it's it's the pass rush rush and that's that's that's kind of again. Why keep going back to? I don't know if these teams are that much different than that. Thirty seven eight game. Because it's the pass rush and and Kyle Shanahan. They do some you know they do some really smart stuff. This isn't just like straight up outside zone run at you and all kinds of different ways. They'll access their play. Play action game in all kinds of different ways and again Jimmy Garoppolo. You know he can throw that past. They can get them into trouble but you know if if if they get if they're able to access a lot of these second fours and things like that I just think it opens it opens. Kyle's game up enough and and you know frankly we like Jimmy Garoppolo hat his playoff game. You know maybe it's a cliche. But he he might have settled down a little bit. We'll see if he's a little bit more confident coming into this one I I just keep going back to San Francisco and where you're like. Oh man what's going to bite them you know they have the number seven offense by DVR there Dr Stats. They're like almost identical to Kansas City. Yikes they have the number two defense by Devi away like they're special teams isn't great but it's not a train wreck there isn't that fatal flaw that sticks out that where you're like this team's just going to get bit. I think you're pointing to it. I think it's probably probably if they're able to get under Garoppolo skin but again like if the forty niners are able to run the ball in this game. Yikes how do you you like okay. So knowing that right and by the way they ran it at some point it was very obvious to Minnesota. What the plan was? The niners ran by design on sixty nine percent of their place on Saturday which is not only nice but historic as the highest rate in ten years in a playoff game. If you're the packers I just don't know if they have the personnel at linebacker in particular to match up with that. Frankly it's not just that it's that when you run you know. What was the you know? Our friend Bill Barnwell has written about this kind of an appreciation for GRONK. When New England was using Gronk they had like a great slot? Receiver who by the way on running plays was blowing away a defensive ed or just destroying a linebacker two and three yards downfield by the way George kittles doing that right now so we talk about. Oh you know they have a backup center. Yeah but when you're running mm wide and George kittle is just driving the Neil Hunter or Kendricks or somebody like if he's driving three and four yards down the field. You're stealing ailing there. And then when you fake out of that and by the way dump it off to George who who dominated the previous matchup you know you talk about your concerns about the Green Bay linebackers. Packers will look what George biddle did to him. The first time so I mean the fact that we've gotten this far why we really liked this advantage for San and we haven't mentioned George kills name yet and all pro Yeah ex yeah honestly mean it. It's like the challenge here. It's high school debate. Talk me into Green. Bay's Patra I'm trying to. I'm thinking through it. I mean kill you you hit on it. which is generally honestly with? The niners is that they've got like three or four guys on offense. You can play three or four positions positions at the same time. You never know what they're going to her multiple Yeah in that would be kiddle. A depot right who honestly could be running back tight end as well And the fullback used a little bit uncomfortable right before I say his name You it but also with the running backs to like this was seven Coleman Game Brady wasn't great like every other game at different niners running back ends up being the good one So so you know but I think probably you know not to look ahead but your best bet is well. It's interesting though because in the this season like do you think the niners are more vulnerable in a grinded out game game against a good defensive opponent which I guess at this point like Tennessee or shootout I think a little bit in terms of a shootout in the sense. That Kyle Shanahan doesn't want a situation where he feels unbalanced where he feels like you know we. We've seen all the data the new analytics basically say play action. Works whether you run or not. But it doesn't mean in in terms of his psyche in terms of his play calling only like he wants to be able to keep that in the bag and we we see the ratios there and again like d Ford in a Knick Bosa really the fresh and sometimes defoe popping inside. They're doing you know. Four aces type stuff to get their pass. rushers free like those guys are scary. If they're tired they're terrifying if they're really the freshly engaged so yeah I. I think I'm probably speaking for any. Oh Ball coach here. But I think they're probably more vulnerable if they get into a shootout type situation situation because you keep going back and saying Jimmy Garoppolo GonNa do it when it's on him and that's the question right and actually I just think Shanahan really likes optionality. Single Google play right and and you know there's been games by the way where Jimmy Garoppolo has been phenomenal on third down my point whenever I criticize him. Never say oh Jimmy. Garoppolo could lose this for them. I mean there's been games right. It's not every game where he is inconsistent especially again in that intermediate field. So it's just a thing that can happen any game with with the San Francisco team and I actually don't think too. It's really dependent on script like even when they're winning. Sometimes he's evening it's just he's just been inconsistent. As far as Bosa and that pass rush I think again. The reason why I feel mobile quarterbacks are I wouldn't call them their weakness but the best your best. I hope against them is. He still over pursues. Sometimes I think sometimes their defensive line plays super aggressively now the development of Greenlaw who I mentioned earlier in the return of Quantum Alexander helps with that a great deal but I think if you can extend the play against them. This is true of any team. I think that's your best shot Yeah I mean you know the other thing that that can just pop up here is You know if you WANNA pick a category. San Francisco wasn't like top ten teams. They fumbled the ball. Fifteen Times this year. They you know they had some giveaways they they gave the ball away twenty seven times. If you just want to like break a box score odd playoff team. How does the team lose thirty seven to eight and then beat a team a few times a week later like I mean? Look at watch the first ten minutes of Kansas City versus Tennessee. And then say your quarterback is Jimmy Garoppolo and not Patrick mahomes homes and say that of course you can lose playoff games like that and you can lose them at home if you have the best player on your team arguably best weapon on your team fumbling punch at the five yard line you can. You can lose to anybody right. Ask the Patriots about the dolphins. Yeah absolutely they can lose. I just think San Francisco's just going to have to do some self inflicted stuff because you know bear. Bryant speak here in terms of just like Giannis and Joe's like hat on I I don't think again back to the original point. These teams are that different than the teams that played in week. Twelve and by the way. There's D Ford. And by the way jared Belvedere out there shouted to Hillsdale college my Alma Mater but jared elders out there. The Guy was retired at the beginning of the year. So you know Green Bay's had to do do some duct taping on their own on their own time in terms of even though these are you know at this point in the season relatively healthy. It's interesting Meena. I pulled a stat so if you beat a team by twenty five points during the regular season the last ten times that has happened this is ESPN stats. That's an info shoutout. Those teams have won. They've repeated that happened. The interesting thing here point spread alert. It's by eight point wait four points so the blowout didn't happen. Generally speaking these teams other playoff teams in the kind of normalized and it turned into a good football and the average margin was eight point. Four points so you know a touchdown so of course you expect a closer game. We're just trying to find a way to make up all those points. So the formula for the packers. Here Jimmy Garoppolo has to throw a couple of interceptions that would give them more. Couple of weird special teams screw-ups. Rogers has to look like you did last week and not like the second half the season somebody other than Davante Adams is going to have to make a few the big plays I think in this one Jimmy Dean Jimmy Dean. Who's going to be? I actually really liked lazard. He got hurt. I've liked them all year. But I don't know man it's the one I think I I really. It's funny because I think I still I really liked the chiefs. I think they're the best team at this point to me but I think the AFC championship is a lot more close than this one. Maybe I'm wrong. I'm right with you. I was staring at this game and by the way again. You know the other one you know who's going to be in. The passing game could be Aaron Jones. Aaron Jones caught forty nine passes this year I thought he was going to obliterate federate the seahawks up thing by the way that was very Brooklyn view. You still have it in you to be like to draw Allah's artists and Indie Band that you like before like I anew Tame Impala in two thousand I was in Dallas Zarb for anybody. Well you know I was into him because he had his first breakout game. I was like Oh this guy's if he's good that's some great fantasy team. Names are gonNA come out of this and I ended up. I ended up like a lot all right before we get to the AFC championship. We're GONNA take some questions from listeners. Thanks this is always free reviews before we get to that. WanNa tell you guys about draftkings. Can you believe it's Conference Championship Week. Time's up for.

"And and so. I think that perspective most players that I've been around their career Iran's three years before they think it's going to end and so usually when it's time for it to be over your surprised by that's how it is for ninety. Nine percent sounded the guys and so a perspective of someone who's kind of been on both sides of it. I think is important make sense. Did you the report. The packers forty niners squirrel I in the NFC amazing considering considering both teams have losing records last year in the AFC. The Titans and chief will battle it out with these super bowl trip up for grabs. The final overreaction on this Monday the packers and the forty niners the forty. niners going to Miami Victor. This is an overreaction guys mainly Eh picking the go pack go into Rogers is shown me that he can get he can just get it done. He can flat out get it done on and the reason he can get it done as because devante. I think the way he gets the ball to him. I think the chemistry that they both have and listen. I can speak to a little chemistry between a quarterback and receiver. I've been there many. And when you when you're on the same page with your quarterback like they are you feel like you are untouchable. You go through these practices you understand exactly how you WANNA WANNA attack this team. And I think they're doing that as we speak. And I think when you have that level of confidence between your quarterback and you're wide receiver only good things come from that and the niners are going to have their hands full trying to guard Devante Atas because he's a spectacular town. If it does happen. Aaron Rodgers will go nine years between starts in the super bowl largest gap ever by starting quarterback. which would break the record previously held by John Elway when eight years between his superbowl starts to the super spotted? Say but that. That that overreaction or no okay okay the only thing I agree with field. It's not I'm no reaction and it would be the longest right like I think the issue is. I don't think the packers can block the the forty niners I just. I don't think they can the banged up at tackle. The last time they played them they couldn't block them. Aaron Rodgers as we scored eight points. They really struggled offensively and I think when we look at the niners now I think they're better now than they were last time. They played on the defensive side of the ball. So thirty seven. Nobody surely that offense one hundred like yeah it was. It was really bad. You have to think they're playing better as well. Though that that that Green Bay offense a little bit I in Aaron Rodgers can create offense and volunteer Adams great but if you just get dominated friends friends who we saw weekend it team that dominated the other team front. They won the game. Look look at the. Vikings Viking seemed to run the football a A. Rod as he's not going to be a sitting duck in that pocket. He's going to be moving around. He's not going to be an easy guy. Just come and sit back there seven yards in being attacked by Joey. Bosa thank you for that information new. NFL live from our Texans reporters. Sarah Barshop Bill. O'Brien hasn't met with owner Kalmyk near but when asked whether Texans will hire a GM he said the way. I see it right now. It stays the way it is here are sounds of the weekend.

"A clip each and every week but he hasn't had those type two years but he's had those games where he's just willing his team victory getting the ball to devante onto. I mean what a baller he is. I love watching receivers. Just get busy and that was. I was just salivating the whole week and we're busy because that's what you want. You want to have those number. One guys is proved that their number one. God He should be in the conversation for best receivers in the League urine in Europe because he's putting together these types of numbers so he's definitely exceeded expectations taste for me this year. I'M GONNA say not an overreaction. What vixen right? But I'm going a different direction with this. We spent the entire offseason con talking. About how how. Aaron Rodgers is hard to coach. Aaron Rodgers can kind of be abrasive. It didn't really fight for Mike McCarthy. When Mike McCarthy was in Green Bay and he's got this younger younger coach and how is that relationship going to work out? I mean basically everyone said Aaron Rodgers is hard to deal with hard to get along with and you know the marriage between winging head coach. Yeah good luck with that especially being a younger younger head coach and you know what he did get along with them you know. Get along with them and now they are a game away from going to the Super Bowl so I think in many respects. You have a brand new head coach and you've accomplished as a team what they've accomplished this year. And I think that part of the situation if we look Aaron Rodgers in terms of exceeding expectations picture alludes to the numbers. And part of what happens for some quarterbacks especially as as they get older and they understand that Aaron doesn't need more numbers you know like drew brees doesn't need more numbers like I just for and I think that there have been elements of that offense has played differently. I think he is played differently. And so and I think that has a lot to do with the oil. which is what people weren't sure that he could do at this stage of his career and he did it and so? I don't think it's an overreaction. I think it is an overreaction and you guys have set us a number. They don't need the numbers but still number versus standard for us that we are accustomed to with Aaron Rodgers thirty six. He's now been playing football. Obviously since his young twenties despite having to sit out for a few seasons while Brett farve still started there in Green Bay. And I don't mean this as a sign of respect really right. It's we are so accustomed Aaron Rodgers being the most prolific or one of the most prolific quarterbacks and football. It just wasn't that statistically typically this year obviously the as always the interceptions were very low but passing yards passing touchdowns not to the same level we have seen in the past and yes the packers. These are now fourteen and three fourteen. She's we ten of their seventeen games as years. We saw that graphic were decided by one score less so they have found ways to win that have included a running anybody. That's got twenty one touchdowns this season. Aaron Jones a defense that has perhaps the best pass rushing duo at least for this year is Darius and Preston Smith so roger still still incredible the guys I bought hall of Famer and he has the chance to head back to the second super bowls the starter but I don't think he's over. I don't think he's exceeded the expectations because my expectations for Aaron Rodgers. There's every year are for him to be leading his team into a championship game setting every single season. And that's the biggest thing for me is when you get Aaron Rodgers or running game it changed everything it it allows the play action pass to be available to you at allows all those bootlegs we. That's why that play with. Devante Adams worked so well because we're used to seeing him bootleg and go to the right to the left now as bootleg right. Oh Yeah. He's running an anger out the opposite way. And that's how we get a touchdown so that helps. The running. Aaron Rodgers will play for his fourth. NFC Championship next weekend. And all of those by the way have come on the road. What it's worth so they can be done? The fourteen when Ravens fell short in their first first and only postseason game they were only able to post twelve points in that loss. According to the Elias Sports that's the fewest points and a teams first playoff game since the merger during one thousand nine hundred seventy after leading the league in scoring all season. Here's what the Ravens had to stay following the loss to so excited you know we we we we wanted to score. Courts wanted to score points by right away soon as they score but at uh little too fast you know China beat them to the plants maybe just slowed down a little bit. I think out of it. Is You know Israelis team. You know we've been here two years in a row and we've lost so I think you know you got to look stuff mirror. Nothing gets this team right now is identity is get the playoffs show and just I know it is what it is the heart boy use. The word overreaction Monday the Ravens lost to the better eighteen on Saturday before you answer Tim. Hello to Mike Tannenbaum with us. Go on this Monday afternoon as the often is lost the better team. Yeah that's an overreaction. I agree with Marla Humphry. Choke chokes. Okay this is the one seat they're supposed to win. They were supposed they were the better team all all season long. And I think when you look at the way this team kind of acted all season long. I mean they're posing for pictures. Pictures on the sideline when the game still you know going on including the defense coordinator like you have your head coach talking about how you know. The the game aim is GonNa be revolutionised by the quarterback and how everything is different for this team like they. They basically kind of destined for this moment. And the next thing you know they get behind by fourteen points in that quarterback that ran all over the league to throw at fifty sometimes like I think they got into a situation where they weren't playing with a lead need. I think they panicked and I think in another word for that in the postseason would be to choke I when you have your own players saying that. That's that's what happened to you. That doesn't help the cause. I would agree with my call. Mike what do you think I see and Tim. That is not an overreaction. Tosi was the better team if you look over the last month of the season their play as well as anybody and of the four teams. Right now I think. Derrick Henry is one of the five best players in our sports staff and only that one on the other side of the ball. When you look into guys up front giral? Casey and Jeffrey Simmons Korea and Calandra those guys are really strong athletic their dominant They can play space and when this guy on the other side of the ball. I think it'd be hard to be In terms of this weekend the end to see so if they had played Baltimore five more times I think they win. Most of those games and it was just a good matchup for For Tennessee and I start by saying I just love having Umass Allama appear. The smartest is not an overreaction. Tyson said it best. Everybody's got a plan to get punched in the mouth off and I think the opening drive on that interception in the way Lamar Jackson took that guy down. They got punched in the mouth and they didn't know how to climb back from that and you saw that with every single drive. They began to press. They were out of character. They weren't being themselves and I think Tennessee was just in vaccine. We feel like we got better running game. We feel like we have the better offense. That's right now. We're playing with a different level of confidence than they are right now in this moment and they continued to put their foot on the gas each and every time they got the football or whether it was defensively pensively getting after Lamar Jackson and that secondary of the Tennessee. Titans really surprised me. They were at the hip of each and every one of these wide receivers and every time the situation and every any time that there was a big play that needed to be made by the Ravens that titans secondary stepped up and neither got past deflation or an interception or a big play to change the scope of that football game. I liked that everybody's got a plan to get to the truth build. Why can victor? I respect you guys and your football minions feeling we gotta but here here. This is absolutely an overreaction. Wait there isn't. It is an overreaction. I agree with Tim O.. Team and the Baltimore More Ravens that entered the playoffs with twelve straight wins and they weren't particularly close and they were the better team over the last month of the regular season. Their backups were better than Pittsburgh starters in week. Seventeen who were scratching inclined to get into the playoffs. Tim mentioned him. This is a team that was already booking their flights for Miami talking about this run run. They're about to embark upon. And it's possible but we just witnessed perhaps the second greatest or at least one of the five greatest individual seasons at the quarterback spot from the Mark Jackson that we've ever seen in the one hundred years of this sport. The confidence and Bravado emanating from Baltimore was limitless list. This was an absolute flattening job by the titans over the Ravens of to me. This is one hundred percent they beat the chiefs does it change. CHANGE ANYTHING FOR UTAH. Intercarrier has been great but more Jackson was the MVP nearly unanimous. But when you look what since when Ryan Tannehill took over played much not nothing that there are another team so I think there are other teams. I would just say this to to kind love to add to what the perspective of the team and kind of what they thought. Earl Thomas basically came out and was like look at these New England patriots. Defense they don't even want to tackle Derrick Henry like you're basically like that doesn't happen a whole lot in the NFL earl. Thomas did that and then you won't happen. He embarrassed by talk to me like they were calling their shot and then struck out like on Saturday confident. So if you're having that into the ways that would be the biggest thing I love is that you knew. Derrick Henry was going to get the ball twenty times. Can you couldn't do nothing about one day. We're going to. There are two weeks in a row because we knew twice again. Just like the either way you look at it. They're saying not saying I truly sense sense of entitlement coming into this game that hey lemar versus mahomes is going to be amazing next Sunday in Baltimore Right. There was just a Derek. It's GonNa ask to see that if we were GONNA see Houston play Tennessee. Go rapid fire here. Shall we as we do do on Mondays. Sometimes Tim we'll start with you. Titans playing on the road is a non factor Sunday in Kansas City. It's an overreaction going into Kansas City in that environment firemen or that crowd. Noise doesn't help you. I I understand like you feel like you're up against it and all of that but you know it helps your defense to play with a lot. OUGHTA crowd noise and so does the run game travel yet travels but it doesn't help you defend Patrick Mahomes by going on the road road and having to have your defense playing quiet stadium. That's not an advantage and so to me all right field. Yates how about this. We'll talk about San Francisco for just a minute. The forty niners defensive line is the best unit remaining in the postseason. I thought about saying overreaction because Patrick Mahomes by himself would be the best but that being said not overreact the dominant group upfront guys. That can play both from the edge. They've got good death in the interior. They've got rushers that get the job done. In a variety of different ways Nick Boza is lapping on the sidelines of forgetting medical tensions losses breath for a second year dominant player and this exact play. They're so good. They're so deep if they're so talented are going to be a huge challenge. Green Bay's offense in London. I will say with the defense. Just victor the seahawks should let free edge free-agent. Cloudy Walk this off season. This is not an overreaction. I think when you look at his career especially this year he's been called for encroachment. Arthur has had some discipline issues. Nine Times is the season and then he's had some plays doesn't pass game this weekend. Where you kind of look? And he's causing his team because of.

"Guests appear via the shell Pennzoil performance line. You know, Jonathan the final four Minneapolis is not the only big event in the sporting world this weekend. Don't you? I do wrestlemainia thirty five which will be covered on ESPN dot com and ESPN radio takes place tomorrow at MetLife stadium in New Jersey. And for the first time ever, it is an all female main event, Jonathan I think it's great. We are one day forty two minutes and now fifteen seconds away from wrestlemainia to in place at MetLife stadium and the main. Event is going to be great because it is the raw women's champion Ronda Rousey, making her crossover from 'em a to the WWE, Becky Lynch. And Charlotte flair who aspect that women's champion? It's great because it's Vince McMahon loves first time ever. And I think the built for this has been great thing about it. Rhonda Rousey comes over from from a and she wins the championship and she's done a great job in her role. Becky Lynch to me is this euros stone cold Steve Austin in that they built her as as someone. That's got a t-shirt says demand. She's called herself the man when you know that she's clearly woman, and but I just love her persona and the same thing with shot at flair because of her lineage being Rick's daughter. I just think that this is going to be great. This will this deserves placement. As the main event, I'm hoping that other matches do not overtake what this may have been going to be a long day, by the way, it's a long. It's not like when you and I are going to the matches Powell what the three hour shows the spring, stampede the. The United Center ninety four no, sir. This is going to be a long long day. It was like wrestlemainia three at the Pontiac Silverdome when early in the card when hillbilly Jim is wrestling, it's light out. Yes. When HOGAN HOGAN and Andre the giant wrestle, and it was pitch black outside, man. You could see through the roof at the Silverdome. Yeah. Back in the day. The WWE has never put a match as a main event that wasn't. It's most popular storyline at the time. So like these three are over. And that's why they're the main event. That's it. I think you know, if you're running a business, and that's what the McMahon's do. They're going to put the match in the main event that the fans want to see the most. And this is what they wanna see and unexcited, and you know, what else because it's wrestlemainia weekend. We have spent all week you, and I and the producers debating like our top five wrestlemainia matches of all time at our top five wrestlemainia intros of all time. I we should we really should unplug. The comrex is and be there right now just plug into some outlet somewhere in New Jersey and just do the show from wrestlemainia does that's where I wanna be next year. They'll be in Tampa next year. And I know, you know, all the spots in Tampa, Florida. There are a few times the NFL road. Yes. Been Minneapolis a few times in the NFL road for ESPN two. Well, it's going to be in Tampa next year. I just love the Bill in what they've been able to do. There's a lot of there's always a complaint about the WWE. And when you're that popular there's always going to be slaves narrows going your way. But even though there might be complaints online about some of these matches and how they built like, for instance, this is going to be allegedly the last match for Kurt angle. He's he has a retirement match here. He takes on baron Corbin and people are complaining about why shouldn't be bearing Corbin point. Is that somehow some way it must be something in my headphones here somehow some way Curtis this a memorable match or somehow they'll make this a memorable match for this. You know, the the the Daniel Bryan is WWE champion to copy Kingston that should be a tremendous match up. So even though there's always complaints is always they always deliver. This thing is bigger than Super Bowl. Now. Can you believe? They're playing football stadiums across the country. And if people from all over the world, come to see wrestlemainia, it's it's quite the spectacle. Jeff it really is. We have a short show tomorrow, but will be on the air tomorrow. And we will be joined by the Dickerson and hood wrestlemainia correspondent the unpaid one James steel, oh is actually covering the event. I don't know if. Yes, PF knows it. But he's there for us at MetLife stadium, and he'll be checking in I do have to chastise James, and he is working so hard today. He has sent so many pictures of themselves next to the dusty Rhodes statue. I know how hard he's working right James loves it. He lives it. However this week when we were all talking on Twitter, the producers and us, and they were listening. They're top five wrestlemainia matches of all time. Now, one of the youngsters had macho man versus steamboat wrestlemainia three. How can that be? That's like one of the greatest matches of all time not just wrestlemainia history of wrestling history. Yeah. I didn't understand that either. As a matter of fact, today's wrestling is reminiscent of what street steamboat and savage did back, then it's just like spot after spot after spot aren't dry take down. On cover the fast action. It kind of stemmed from that match a lot of it. And so it's in my top five, and you know, I'm not necessarily traditional WWE fans. You know, like I liked everything else beside that. But I didn't pick my five, and it just comes to show you that the Bret hitman hearts and the Shawn Michaels the Hogan's the Roxie Austin's, the undertaker's those guys ruled wrestlemainia always had memorable matches. So I I don't understand why steamboats savage a classic match being will not be at someone's five. But hey, you know, it's a generational thing. I think maybe it's because most of your producers were less than five years old back then. I mean, you you love the sports. I would expect you seeing. I mean, I never saw the original Green Bay Packers under Vince Lombardi. But I do realize what they did. And what they accomplished and their contribution to the sports. My fellow producers. You're you're you're you're on the good second worry about a thing. I always negative eight years old when that happened. Doesn't matter. I mean, did you have you have you have video you have the capability to go back and watch it and my right and James watch the first twenty wrestlemanias on his couch to get ready for this big assignment to be articulated hood wrestlemainia correspondent, so it's right there for you to watch. And you choose not to that's what infuriates me tweeted, a union said, it's probably the most underappreciated match of people. It should be under appreciated. It should be appreciated for what it is one of the top five wrestlemainia matches of all time. I nor the silliness usually. Yeah. I know I usually ignore the silliest. They just see it as like, okay? Just move on radio was invented before twenty ten but we're working at it. I like I wouldn't work in radio. It wasn't when I was born knows way before we were. You know, we all this was born. So yeah, we're working in it. Where does the gimmick battle Royal rank? It's a great question. It's a question that I'm not going to answer because we're busier. But I mean, the whole thing to me is that when you look at at this whole wrestlemainia thing man, I never thought it'd be bigger than the Super Bowl. But it is. I don't know how many countries come around from around the world to see the Super Bowl. But certainly do this wrestlemainia, and they have all the different announcers from the different parts of the world. Yes. But but the Super Bowl has that too though. Right. Don't they do? So it just the marketing of it, and what they've been able to do with this has just been better than anything we've ever seen. And I don't know what the ceiling is Ford, but just continues to grow. It's really a lot of fun. Yes. So we hold that James brings it tomorrow can overlook if these guys are acting like I told them to watch Hercules, Hernandez versus Billy Jack Haynes in the full Nelson match. This is what is this kind of how I feel that they're like treating steamboat versus. Macho man. Why get upset? Oh, well, don't don't take the bait. That's usually do it like me, man. Just keeps us let them say their peace and pretend like you didn't hear that sent busy. Yeah. We're busy here pal. We don't have time for that nonsense. But I just you know, oh that was before. I was born. Yeah. But you're still you utilizing today is just kind of fun. You want to talk about wrestlemainia, you'd better tell me how bad the main event was muscle mania one with HOGAN and Mr. T against Cowboys. Okay. Okay. Now, you can I don't want to talk about. I would never goes out of style. Unlike.

"Get ready for tip off in Minneapolis coming up here. First game of the evening. The Auburn Tigers against Virginia. That means Bruce Pearl against Tony Bennett last year Virginia lost in the first round. It was a devastating loss. But Tony Bennett said this week. It would be remarkable. If you've won the final four if this program could could find a way to the championship. Of course, it would be significant because I think it's it's a remarkable story for anybody who wins one. But our story is, you know, in a way it is unique. And so to see the resiliency in the resolve and all that's gone into this program from coaches before me players before me. And then since I've been there the foundation that's been laid. You know, it's what you always. Hope for and you you see it from a distance and other programs, and then you aspire to it, and you try to build it in the way, you think is best fit for where you're at. And that's what we've tried to do with all of our might answer, Bruce Pearl. It's been it's been a long road for him. Boy, going back down to division two basketball. Then takes over you've university of Wisconsin. Milwaukee gets them to a Sweet Sixteen Tennessee out of coaching now at Auburn they are red hot. The Tigers have only one loss since February twenty third and Pearl said yesterday that he certainly plans on taking advantage of this opportunity. We have a chance to make history. And so when we looked at the road to the final four, and we saw with the exception of maybe Oregon there wasn't a stronger, twelve in the New Mexico state. I told the guys I promise you this first one is going gonna as tough as anyone that we'd go through and it was but to have a chance then have to go through Kansas and North Carolina Kentucky, and now Virginia the only one seed left if we're truly. Trying to make history as part of our fate in a sometimes there's fate and others time there's opportunity and God's put this opportunity before us, and we're going to do the best we possibly can take advantage of this opportunity that made me and winning. It made me losing the we're gonna take advantage of this opportunity. You know, how you and I have talked in the past like the merits of going into a postseason tournament or playoffs. Hot on the NFL. You don't really have to necessarily teams will rest their starters in week sixteen weeks. Seventeen teams have lost games at the end of the year. And they go on and they still win a Super Bowl. But in college basketball Jonathan so important to go into the tournament on a roll. And no one is hotter right now than Auburn. No question because of the blue bloods that they were able to defeat going into the second round feeding Kansas in the Sweet Sixteen defeating North Carolina in the elite eight defeating Kentucky says a lot for Auburn because they definitely are on a roll. But I look at this matchup here with. Virginia six point favorite, by the way. The over-under is one hundred thirty three points is the resistible force against the mobile object. And yes offered is that team that is what our question the hottest team in this match up here. But the thing I'm wondering about is can Virginia. Limit the opportunities from three point range for Auburn. Auburn is made four hundred forty five three pointers this season. The second most by any team in a season in division one history. That's a ton. I mean, if you're living from the three point I mean, this is where you eat for the three point stripe. Virginia is so strong defensively. Joe though, Jeff when you oppose both teams here and you look at the Cavaliers they allow fifty five points per game too few division one. That's a big question. Mark can Virginia. Limit the opportunities from three from Auburn. Because if they can't it's going to be upside at win for Auburn, and can Auburn dictate the tempo, you know, Virginia does not want to run up and down the floor like Auburn, you know, that I mean they would like to. Slow things down if Auburn has their transition game going and they're hitting from three. That's that's what makes it tough to beat them. But it's fun that you've got you know, each team has their strength and that plays into the strength of the other team. It is this really is a great match up. So please don't look at this final four tonight and say Auburn Virginia, Texas Tech, and then is on Michigan state and feel like you've been somehow robbed or deprived of great basketball. These teams deserve to be here. This is still great stuff. I mean, I I covered the final four you have covered team. Final fours. Yeah. Except for the one that George Mason was in think of a clunker final four that we were ever at. No. And we'll all the last year they leg Michigan in the second half. They that was not a bad team love Chicago. They were right there. They they had that game in control, and then Wagner just took over for the wolf. Raines. So I I'm expecting to see great basketball tonight, regardless of who's playing that's just how I feel about the final four and I'm leaning on leaning Virginia because I will always look at the defensive team. And I'd say auburn's going to shriek up in the moment, though. But I just think that Virginia because they allow less than fifty five point two game. And I know it's different the different animal here. We're talking about Auburn. I just kind of think that this is going to be Virginia. You know? It's it's good from the be on this level. Goodness. They have not been to the final four since nineteen Eighty-four. That's that's a long stretch, my friend. Bruce Pearl must have heard me earlier. He is wearing a white shirt. A white dress shirt I still maintain by the second half when his jacket off that you will see pit stains on a white shirt. I my prediction tonight strong. That's my stone cold lead pipe lock the steel that from an old show on the network. Yeah. Well, you know, it's too shirt day for Bruce Pearl because you know, that first half you're going to be coaching his butt off. And there's going to be allowed sweat flying. And so it's a good teams Virginia then from there. It's Texas Tech against Michigan state. That's the nightcap. And it's also going to be a great match up as well. I really do. And I think Texas Tech is if you're if you're you're just a kind of an average college basketball fan, I think Texas Tech is probably the team that you're least familiar with. That's fair for me to say. Yeah, absolutely, Texas Tech is a good program. Chris beard is a highly respected coach they made the elite eight last year. This is a team that deserves to be here. But Michigan state has overcome so many injuries and so many obstacles. And I know the time Izzo said earlier that you know, experience doesn't matter, but it does a little bit. I mean, this is a final four. So I just think you've got two coaches sort of different points of their career and two programs. That are very deserving and cuff ESPN college basketball analyst was on the show last hour, and he predicts that Texas Tech Michigan state is one of those final possession games, Jonathan I agree wholeheartedly. I think that's what you see tonight. I think this one of the two has the higher likelihood of going down to the wire, it's a close game Vegas. Also sees the close game Michigan state's a two and a half point favorite in the over unders one hundred and thirty two points. I I think it's going to be a really close game to do not be surprised. Michigan state has a little bit more to win this ball game. And I think Michigan state run has been very interesting as well, though. I just I look at the big ten and I've been saying a lot here in the college basketball season, Jeff that the big ten top to bottom was as impressive as any conference that you can find in. I mean when I say the bottom, I mean, you saw north western fight. You saw Illinois fight. You saw you saw teams from the bottom. Really able to ask them upsets against teams at the top. And so the big ten in the dogfight in that conference. Really impressed me a lot. And so when I look at Michigan state being in this situation being in the final four, I can't say I'm surprised because as good as they are. Yes, it's led by Izzo. But I look at tasha's Winston. And I just think that this team just has a little bit more has enough to pass Texas Tech. We are underway. We have tipped off in Minneapolis for junior. And Auburn I'll give you updates. We'll keep you posted on this show throughout the rest of our show. But of course, now, it means we can counter program and a complete breakdown of wrestlemainia. That's next. Well, that end more, of course, not just not that. But that it'll be in there to figures that hood ESPN radio notes. Radio.

"The reason why these teams have been able to navigate shaky quarterback situations and the reason that we have this final four that has three quarterbacks that no one saw getting here is largely because these teams have created the right environment around them because they founded their rosters on being strong at wine of scrimmage and if you're strong elias scrimmage you give everybody including the quarterback a chance and so case kingdom you know what he was pretty good on sunday bike bordeaux's he made throws when he needed to make them nick folz shaky start but he came around a little bit rush you're a former offense of lima so i know you can appreciate this talk but look i don't think there's any price too high to pay for a great quarterback because it gives you stability give you a decade and a half a stability if you really get the right one but there is a way there there are there are other ways to win and a big part of making sure that you put your quarterback and the right situation i think is based right up run and if folz got hit on sunday there would have been problems for the eagles bortles was able to operate the way was able to operate because they had the run game going which is the function of the offensive line and case kingdom of you watch that play how much time did he have that play the end of the game to throw stefan days how much time did he have to get the ball there is just to me i think there's just a hidden principle here in what football's always been you know and that's a line of scrimmage game and these three teams i think play by i don't disagree with you in terms of the notion of what football is in you know this when everybody in new england was saying what's all tom brady all tom brady all tom brady bill bella check his one standing there saying y'all it's a team game y give fee if the quarterback of the kicker in the punter if the other ten people don't do their job those guys can't do their job effectively so you're right apparently i'm just not a case kinam lover because i thought he was eminently average.

"You know it's really hard because away way south carolina plays when they come after you are they come after you create layups they come after you get put back on the offensive grass they can come at you and if you by any lack of confidence in that moment in time they can overwhelm you that's what they do they overwhelm you because the harder playing toughest team so i think it's going to be four gonzaga team that's given away some leads they are vulnerable to the south carolina system would south carolina's what i would say is hyperventilating and and in panic mode and in desperation mode italy the elaborate turnover is my gut feeling and then on the other hand i think south carolina because of the way they play they always know they can get back in a game they know they can create a turnover and they can they can get to the glass they know they can drive it get the line i i would say to be more pressure against zagreb in that situation because of their past and also because of the way south carolina place who you think between the two will be a little bit more it all of the moment because we've all been to these final four games and if you're in a football stadium maybe you've never been there before and you sort of half the gis let everything settled down at some point of which team do you think will handle that better.
