"Robin Akiva. Welcome to the stage frail. Mary. Can. You imagine if I wrote a song to that's not my thing is my thing procrastinating checks out since I'm most likely one of the last people to submit their roast Sir Robin Akiva. The real question here is, what are your things podcasting sure being probably too old to talk about Riverdale or dating shows definitely maybe your thing is just throwing literally anything and everything at the wall and seeing what sticks wrap this clearly rha peas, junk drawer of PODCASTS, wall sure. You might find some real gems like game night and the TV theme Song Tournament. But in the process you'll probably reach in and snag a paper cut on the final four minutes earlier this week and Robin Akiva I mean just look at the number of podcasts that have our trash in the title maybe that's a little q in the direction of where this whole endeavor is going a fellas in all seriousness congrats on over two years and one hundred episodes of Ra. Deshaun Watson Is Ready To Be Heard

"I want to start our conversation with a moment from your interview with the Shawn Watson for your latest ESPN cover story because you talked to him in July over zoom from your home in northern California where you are now and he was two thousand miles away in Houston and you ask them this very pointed question you asked what? Mean, challenges does a lack quarterback face when decided to speak up on social issues. How did this Shawn Watson answer that question? Pablo he answered it in two different ways and to very illustrative ways I would say. He started by saying I. Think you have to watch what you say sometimes. See I think I think you have to watch what you say sometimes. That was the the standard answer. And then he stopped he looked down is if almost to chastise himself, he slapped his hands on his knees and he said, honestly I'm GonNa take that back I felt like. I felt like. Whenever. Black. quarterback especially speaks up dowse world sometimes on their educated enough to know what's going on. So in reality they like, Hey, all. Black QUARTERBACK S. Shut up I know talking about. That switch that he made taking it from what the outside world would think of him to what he thinks of that I thought was was really indicative of this change that he's made personally in the last say six months. It was like he's still a work in progress. He's twenty four years old. He's a young man and he's still sort of has to remind himself that he's no longer straddling this corporate line that he's had to to straddle for three years as an NFL quarterback. Let's trace that trajectory then because in profiling Watson, you traveled to his hometown. Of GAINESVILLE. Georgia what did you learn about his thing? He started out in a public housing project pulled Harrison Square, and if you watch to Sean play, you'll see the wristbands that have eight, one, five on them, and that is as a Al-Majd to eight one, five Harrison Square where he started out with his mom and three siblings. Everyone says to Sean was was just this facilitator. He was everyone's and. He had this charisma about him where he would bring other people along just because he was confident in how good he was. He had been developing as a phenomenal athlete, not just a football player, but he was a great basketball player. and to Sean was just had this ability, he could do whatever he wanted even at that age. He would always pass the ball. He would always pick the kid at the end of line and bring him on his team. He just had that welcoming personality and he was not boastful he was quietly confident. And he became the star of Gainesville. Georgia winning a State Championship in football and taking his basketball team to the final four. From the outside, it appears that he had sort of a gilded life. We always start positive. We always you know anything any -versity of negative stuff that hit us. We always make sure that you know we learn from a real quick and then we turn to page and keep it pushing and keep moving forward.

National New Hampshire Day with Matt and Emilio Barnard

"So each week, one of my podcast friends challenged me to find an episode related to one of those days and I'll be releasing it on the actual date occurs. So let's get to it. What is today's National Day? Hey Paul Matt. NFL. Bernard here we just got back from an awesome week into Hampshire Estate Near and dear to our hearts I'll there and my grandparents still live there. But neither of US are New Hampshire natives we have questions where in the PODCAST universe can we turn to learn more about the Grad State? Well Matin Amelio you've come to the right place but before I give a recommendation I'm going to give a little back story to everyone. When I started this podcast I decide that my guess would be podcasters not just people in the podcast. Matinee have been running mates since very early on going to last two podcasts movements together. But. He didn't have a podcast. So I never asked him to be a guest. Did Matt Start as podcasts just to be a guest on my show, the answer would be revealed later but let's talk about living free or dying I or at least pumpkins. Today. September seventh is national. New Hampshire. Day. I think a great place to start finding podcasts about New Hampshire is the outside in podcast which is made by new. Hampshire public. Radio. Now. It's not exclusively about things from New Hampshire but there are obviously New Hampshire base stories like this one. This episode talks about the Guinness Book of Records Event Were Keen New Hampshire holds a US record for most Jack Lantern in one place at one time. The town held an annual festival and everyone loved it. But as it got bigger and bigger so did the problems I mean if you've got over four thousand pumpkins around that can't be safe right? quaint was no longer the operative word. To find out what happened give it a listen, and let me know what you think by using the National New Hampshire Day Hashtag. Today's guests floral are Matin Amelia Barnard. As I mentioned Matt never had a podcast but due to the pandemic he decide to have some fun with his son with their free extra time and the Barnard's on the NBA podcast was born. In each episode Matinee, choose to colleges with well-known basketball programs and compare their famous alumni to see which school would come out on top. Many years ago I was a big college basketball fan and I still go to the big east championship every year when a pandemic isn't raging I also went to two final four tournaments many years ago. One. was in Atlanta and the other was in New Orleans, of course. So listening to this podcast gives some great of those times. For the episode I'm recommending it's the mismatch between Ucla and Oregon State. Since nothing is free in this world, I'm going to request that Matt and Amelia do an episode pitting Villanova and ruckers against each other. Short seems a little one-sided, but don't sleep on Rucker's there who history has some highlights amidst a lot of lowlights. For. Last recommendation, Matin Amelia recommend the Hollinger and Dunkin NBA show is debating the NBA's best they say and I quote.

John Thompson took a chance on hapless Georgetown ... then worked a miracle

"Jay Bilas here because there's big college basketball breaking news this morning the death of John Thompson Junior age of seventy eight, one, thousand, nine, hundred, four NCAA championship winner the first African. American. Coach to take team to the men's College Basketball Championship his best player is now Georgetown's coach his son John. Thompson the third eventually followed him as head coach as well with Craig there in the middle giant for what he did for Eric African Americans in a giant with what he did in the game. Jay joins us on the Shell Pennzoil performance line this morning Jay good morning for those that may be too young or don't understand the scope of what John Thompson Junior meant to college basketball. How would you sum it up? He was a giant in in basketball both literally and figuratively, and he did so much for the game not only on the x No side that you did a substantial amount there. You know his Georgetown Teams especially when you got nineteen, eighty, seventy, nine, eighty through the early nineties they were a force and the best defensive coaches in the history of the game, his teams were very disciplined. Very smart and very together and that that's why they were so great defensively, it wasn't just that they were athletic. they were smart and disciplined. And almost went to the final four in nineteen eighty when John lost a a one point game to Iowa and that was lute Olson's first final four and lute Olson passed away a little earlier last week But John, Thompson. was that he was also fought for social justice before it was it was cool if you will. Think. You'll remember back in the eighties there was legislation by the NC double called proposition forty two. That put in a entrance requirements and they were disproportionately affecting African Americans and John Thompson and a game I. Believe it was Boston College got up before the tip and walked off the floor and protest with a towel over his shoulder and and you know he took a stand and took a stand on on multiple issues He was not always popular because the things that he was saying that time was really uncomfortable for for people to hear. And you can imagine I mean are people are uncomfortable. Now think how it was back in the in the late Seventies. Early Eighties one John Thompson was was setting a standard and with standing up on social issues. He he was a, he was a a great great person a man of of really high character and You know you don't want it to get lost what a great coach was but he was also a great man.

CDL Champs didn't disappoint

"Get onto champs though this is I think where the highlight of championship Sunday was the call of Duty League Championship. As said, this is really CDL has been the beacon of hope and light in the sports world since corona hit because say what you want. I understand the League has not been perfect I understand. People have been hit with Diaz attacks in events and that hasn't been handled. Well, I understand the game isn't that great at all. uninstalled it months ago right. So I get that I hear you but that doesn't take away that this is really been. The best source of entertainment if you're just looking at, you want the whole package when it comes to ease sporting event. CDL. Deliver that I think especially when it came to their championship and the playoffs so hats off to them right say what you want. But this really turned out to be I think the highlight of Cova de Sports thus far. Yeah for sure I. Mean like you said, it really was the total package. We had all the teams competing against one. Another regional differences there The viewing experience was still exciting I understand the players have their struggles, but that's you know. Unfortunately something that they really only have to deal with I'm not noticing the lag is I'm watching and things of that sort. Right? It was just pure entertainment for us. So yes, see cdl carry the torch during Kovin ended it ended with a bang to you know maybe we just Robertson just during the final four. That's all we'll be discussing and to start off with land in Dallas this weekend I mean that series really kind of set the tone for what we were gonNA. Get in this final four three showdown. I should say right with Dallas. ATLANTA CHICAGO WAITING And that went the distance right off the bat like. Dallas. Took that first game dropped the next to not GONNA lie inside I was a little nervous at that point with Dallas being down to you know to one in the managed to pull it out there. Dropping as into the lower bracket versus Chicago. But yeah that that really did set the tone and that was one of those where I think. Dallas. Really needed that victory because they had been so abysmal versus Atlanta throughout the year that that was almost felt like the confidence boost they needed to carry them into the final game right? Like I think they may have struggled at that point had they had to go up against Chicago after losing to Atlanta the same day because those games were played pretty much back to back later that afternoon was the second game and I thought had Dallas. Drop, that game. Chicago was playing good enough to potentially be able to beat them especially with the demoralized team coming there we talked about momentum all the time, and this was a big one like this was a big one i. felt for Dallas to to get that when I had more confidence in phase beating Chicago than I did Dallas beating Chicago at that point. Had Dallas loss because I agree with you, I. I think that the phase game the first phase game for Dallas was a huge confidence builder. Especially, you know I'd be curious and we'll get someone from Dallas on the show here. In the near future I'm curious on who was that a confidence builder for right would have been for the younger guys 'cause sometimes young and dumb is true right sometimes you're too much of a rookie to realize that hey, they have our number. Right there's truth to that because there's also on the opposite side where. You know they they might realize the situation right? So I wonder by beating them who was the confidence boost for? Was it for the young guys or was it for the old vets to be like we got this? So but either way they ended up pulling it off. Making it to the finals which hats off to both of us even though only one of us, we're right in our playoff predictions. At the start of the season we did both say I believe we'll have to run the tape, but Dallas was going to win Dallas I. Think was both of our favorites at the start of the entire season. Yeah I. mean or I again would probably go look at the tape if. I. Look. We're going to go with. ME. The way it was impressive though that that first game because that that game five, if you recall that it was Ramada that they played on. Dallas one, that six three. But I think like phase had opened kills on like seven or eight out of the nine maps that they played in. Dallas made some incredible comebacks along with some sloppy phase play. That allowed them to take that game five in. So that's also probably a good thing for Dallas to realize that point. Had we one that but if phase really played that game five, properly, it seemed like they should have won it. They had numbers in majority of the rounds They even had numbers I. Mean I think the Alien? Clare winning that four be two was such a clutch moment. In that search and destroy a cloister, hit a nasty wall bang on one of the rows that was probably one of the best wall banks you'll see in call of duty especially from a distance standpoint like the guy wasn't even it's not like he was on the other side of the wall he was running mid lane in place show was posted up in back in a in an dirty wall bank but you could see Dallas put in their homework look. That's what I took out of that is they were prepared for different scenarios. They were calm. Especially that four, V two but. Hell of a way to start off the weekend for sure for chimps.

No. 8 Seed Blazers Shock Los Angeles Lakers In Game 1 Of Playoffs

"Portland. Right now. It's a Portland hoedown. Yeah, let's get it on Blazers beat the Lakers 100 to 93. They take Game one. Of this Western Conference first round playoff matchup, and there was never a moment where the Lakers were in control. There was a moment where they had gotten the game back to even but Portland was able to withstand that Damian Lillard with a huge night he goes for 34 points. He is perfect from the free throw line. Ah, McCollum and Newark. It's really did all of it between the three of them. They counted for over 70 points. It was a big night for them. Meanwhile, the Lakers they got 23. Read 17 and 16 from LeBron, who had a big night on the stat sheet. They got 28 from Anthony Davis. But the Lakers shot horrendously not so much about the missed free throws because they were 20 out of 31 Misty, nor inside the final four minutes. They did miss force turning four minutes, but they were five for 32 from three point range. Five out of 32. That's not going to do it in the bubble in the MBA playoffs when this is about offense. Putting points on the board. This was a horrendous offensive performance from the Lakers that had really bad performance is already in the bubble. You are worried about their offense, and I said no there find their figured out there figured out. This is tremendously awful, and of both one seeds to lose. Today I am way more concerned about the Lakers than I am about the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks losing to Orlando, Orlando gotta lead and the Bucks lost their

Weekend Stakes Preview Presented by NYRA Bets

"The victory ride kicks off the stakes action here at Belmont Park tomorrow afternoon grade three early in the caught has just the feel of five phillies. GOING TO GO Six and a half furlongs as for the three year old's warning line favors one francs. Rock Cat Hall of Famer Bill Will Give Fellow Hall of Famer John Velazquez a leg up and this phillies done very little wrong on her career. She's three for seven. With four second-place finishes ran second in a couple of graded stakes, including the grade one spin away up at Saratoga last year last seen winning a third level allowance optional claimer. She uses stakes. Winner took the any limit kick off three year old season three starts back. and. Probably the only reason that this race isn't later in the card is that it's a five Horsfield and Franks? Rakhat is three to five on the morning line, and she may be the the loan speed in race, so she's going to be tough to beat at three to five, but that's a pretty short price, considering there some pretty good up and coming phillies near now I think number four center. I'll I'm going to give her another shot for. For Chad Brown and Joel Rosario Sheila Great Getting Her Maiden Win Gulfstream Park, when bet down to three to five at the end of March then came back in a tough allowance race at Churchill downs where she was really over bet, she was three to five that day against another very impressive maiden winner of this one for Steve Asmussen in casual casual ran a great race that day center I'll had all sorts of problems. She didn't break that well. She had trouble during the race, and she was just really never in at any point. I think it's a racy can kind of draw a line through? If she runs closer to the way she did and her debut. I think she's the one that could give Franks rock cat. The biggest problem Franks rocket will probably get the lead I would think Rosario would have center I'll sitting justin behind her and seeing if they can outgun into the line going six and a half furlongs. With you I'm going to take a shot with center. Rile planner. If? When I plan! Early took five tomorrow I will use both Franks rocket and center, but I'll tell you what I think. You can make a case also for up in smoke was undefeated and sprints. She's four five and a career. Lone blemish came when George Weaver tries to stretch her out Hollywood wildcat. Go at Gulfstream Park. She's raced exclusively of Gulfstream, in fact, steady diet once. Once a month February march April may June now. She gets a race in July. Here over Big Sandy, she wanted the game face overboard last time out for weaver Rod Ortiz Junior. Who wrote her in her debut against fellow Florida breads down at Gulfstream Park's in the climb back aboard for the first time. Since that day looks, you'll need a little help up front if Franks, rockets able to set an easy pace I. She's going to be very very tough. I think Senator I'll be the first one to come calling. Those are the two up in smoke. If you're looking to three deep, I don't think you need to center for Bobby and I race number three goes as the great three six and a half for a long victory ride go to the end of the card. Eleven race card like I said earlier, and the final four races make up an all stakes pick four, and it starts in reasoning with the greed three poker. Flat Mile on the turf for many years. This was the fourth of July staple. On the naira calendar here it is now as part of a super five stakes card. In, the poker though. On the widener, so they come out of that shoot. On the clubhouse turn we get a field of eight entered for the turf as a main track. Only it's all relevant with the way. The weather's been here. I would imagine you know there's supposed to be some rain. We're recording the show Friday afternoon supposed to be some rains rather day on Friday and into the evening. I can't imagine it enough to take this off the turf, so let's say it will be a field of eight.

St. Edwards University Senior Chase Bartlett

"Everyone John Worth. I'm here this week. Sports illustrated tennis podcast. Hope you're doing well or some approximation. Thereof our guest week is chase arlit. Who is chased? Bartlett Jason Bartlett is a senior at Saint Edwards College in Texas. He reached out to me via twitter and wanted to tell me about his story. Which is essentially that in the wake of covid his school's Athletic Department abruptly has killed its tennis program and they go tell you the details. But they're not pretty and I think this is something that unfortunately gonna come up more often in the next few months that tennis is a non Revenue Sport and with no final four. No March madness and with football. This fall right now in some doubt. These are tough times. College athletic departments. We've talked a lot about tennis on the tours being suspended but this trickles down to the college game as well so today we talked with a college tennis player about some of the woes facing his program and Again I think this unfortunately is going to be an issue. That's GONNA be come sort of being creasing -ly resonant this fall so without further ado chase. Are you a senior where he was senior? Wants you to sort of Orient us where you are and what you've been through and then we can go from there the ask so. I I just graduated last week From San Cruz University in it's a division two school We finish this year ranked six in the country with six all American awards and make like replant nine overall team. Gpa So it's probably the best team ever had in school history For lottery reasons. And unfortunately the school's administration just cut cut six of our teams Men and women's tennis included earlier this month About three and a half weeks ago actually and since then we've been trying to do all these reinstatement plans and we've been having caused zoom calls with with the administration trying to figure out. How can we get these programs back? And how can we find a place for these is that it's athletes? I'm going to cut you off periodically just to The flesh is out on. This is obviously corona driven or. This is separate. There's been some a lot of people are thinking that this is sort of just a cover up from corona but the school is very adamantly saying this is directly related to the crown virus. You know they. They were expanding programs. You know two months before. They cut our programs to added East sports program in a track and field program and looked like there was plans to build a Lacrosse program as well. So it. It's sort of confusing. It's just to be just to be clear your tell me about your school yes a my school is in Austin Texas Like I said it's a division to university. It's got I think before. This had sixteen programs if you're not including tracking sports with which suggest added so now they're down to almost bare minimum to compete in division two. I think and in their conference requirements. So it's a it's a pretty good school it's right across the street from Ut's downtown Austin's a nice place lime scooters. I think yeah absolutely your your senior year and things. Things are last semester of college and then all of a sudden things go sideways in a hurry before we get to the finances. I mean just an emotional level. What's been like for you at? I couldn't imagine anything worse. It was almost like losing her relatives. And that's sounds ridiculous to say but it was. You know these are dreams that we've been working on. You know my teammates innocence before fourth grade when we had our tenth birthday party. That was around the time of college. Athletes really start playing in Brooklyn. Our whole lives in the end. We had shot actually this year winning a national championship. And that's what made it. I think so disappointing for us especially when I got here for years ago when I was a freshman unranked we lost to some pretty bad teams a now for the first time in school history. We've got team that can win a national championship. And and then grownup virus comes in all of a sudden you know. We didn't even know what was going to be our last practice. Our last match in three weeks later they they cut our program so it's pretty devastating for a lot of us. You're a senior. You said you graduated congrats. You still have a year of eligibility I assume if you want it. Yes so all the spring sports got one extra year of eligibility. Which means that you know. I could transfer on plan of the year which I'm planning on doing WanNa get an NBA and maybe play for a division one school A lot of teams aren't so fortunate though even though you know they can transfer Some of the freshman for example we had two freshman that were all Americans. I've known for a long time. Actually and one of them is quitting tennis because he he can't think of going anywhere else in the other one is going somewhere with no scholarship because much the teams have been all booked up because the timing of all that the transfer portal and in all sports right now is Is Is Meek writer. It's just just clogged in everything from the basketball the wrestling you hear this again and again. I mean I think in college tennis's I we're going to hear more stories about this a little bit different division one schools where the TV revenue from the NCAA tournament in the revenue for football. If that doesn't come in that's going to affect the whole athletic department. It sounds like that's a little bit different than the situation at Saint Edwards. Not like. You had a huge football team. That was spitting out millions of dollars in revenue for the heart letting department absolutely. We don't even have team And Are you know the sports that got cut? I mentioned the Sierra. But they're actually the revenue sports You know of the six that were cut. Men's soccer was bringing in around one hundred fifty thousand dollars in revenue per year Cheer was a was a great reverence for that was cut in. They were bringing in around the Santa Soccer and men's tennis was costing a measly fifty two dollars. How can you dollars year expenses? Yes semi the bill. Yeah exactly how? How did you generate revenue? And what were the expenses so about three weeks ago we received a leaked document From a consulting report that was done in two thousand eighteen of Athletic Department in the way they did it. They did what's called the contribution margin analysis so basically you factor in all of the expenses. Right your background scholarships you factor in coaches budget factor-in overall budget And then you factor in you know okay. So I have four scholarships right and I have a twelve man team and all of a sudden. You know we're actually. You might be bringing in money because of the people who are on scholarship. So it's not like the ball where there's a ton of scholarships or something like that. You know our program wasn't fully funded so

"There's a big question looming over the paycheck protection program that the federal government set up that aid money is not reaching business owners of color why not and here's Danielle Kurtzleben looked into it the first time Rosemary Bolger applied for the small business relief loans it didn't go well she needed a loan for naco creative her small Minneapolis based company which has created ad campaigns for brands like the NCAA final four so she went to her credit union they were hard to reach but eventually I got through to someone and they emailed me back saying the current process for them because they don't process SBA loan I wasn't aware of that then after trying and failing it to other banks she managed to find one that was accepting applications for new customers and she quickly applied but then next week I got an email from them saying you know the money is running out and then now it's just going to prioritize their clients that had borrowed before the budget has applied there again during the second round of funding but hasn't heard back yet but she could use the money and fast her team is currently working through the pandemic without pay we will have a healthy pipeline coming into this year as soon as this came down everything went on hold and then disappear lawmakers set aside thirty billion dollars for smaller lenders with an aim of helping business owners of color like Bhoja but a new report from the small business administration's inspector general found that minority owned businesses may not have received loans as intended because the agency didn't tell lenders to prioritize those borrowers the carers act ten rules specifically laying this out the report also recommended that the agency collects demographic information going forward an additional problem for these owners is that they are more likely to be sole proprietors in other words their businesses are owned by one person according to Ashley Harrington senior policy counsel at the center for responsible lending what we're talking about getting rid of color most of them are very small businesses so their sole proprietorship or they have less than ten employees who are likely to be a sole proprietorship than any of the other small businesses the budget has six people on her team and they're all contractors making her business one of those one person's sole proprietorships some of those were only allowed to apply for PPP funds one week after other businesses that put them in the back of the line to get the money which ran out quickly during the first round in addition relationships with banks matter according to Michael Roth he's managing partner at next street which works with local governments on small business policy black and Hispanic owned businesses because of their lack of access to capital and banks and financial institutions and friends and family are far more likely to use personal funds to finance their businesses and generally that's run out of you know personal checking accounts that could be a problem for some businesses in the program because some banks would only loan to people with business accounts so owners without those were shut out boy just says that if she doesn't get the funding it won't take her business down completely but it could make life harder the main thing that we're on the verge of losing in their office space but yeah we will go out of business but it's it's already hurt the contractors who rely on her for income one of my team members and taken a job with Amazon for example but but we're still pushing to get business in for now she says they're working on a new project to make sure health information about corona virus can reach poor and immigrant communities as well as communities of color Danielle Kurtzleben NPR

Minority-Owned Small Businesses Were Supposed To Get Priority. They May Not Have

"There's a big question looming over the paycheck protection program. The Gut the federal government set up that aid. Money is not reaching business owners of color Wi- NPR's Daniel Kurtzer looked into it. The first time Rosemary Borja applied for the small business relief loans. It didn't go well. She needed a loan for Neko Creative Minneapolis based which has created ad campaigns for brands like the NCAA final four. So she went to her. Credit Union should reach. But eventually I got through to someone and they emailed me back saying they can't process them because they don't process. Sba Loan I wasn't aware of that. Then after trying and failing it to other banks she managed to find one that was accepting applications from new customers and she quickly applied but the next week. I I got an email from them saying you know. The money's running out and then now just going to prioritize their clients that had boroughs before the Bulla has applied there again during the second round of funding but hasn't heard back yet but she could use the money and fast. Her team is currently working through the pandemic without pay we have a healthy pipeline coming into this year. As soon as this came Dow- everything went on hold and then disappear. Lawmakers set aside thirty billion dollars for smaller lenders with an aim of helping business owners of color like Boba but a new report from the small business. Administration's Inspector General found that minority owned businesses may not have received loans as intended because the agency didn't tell lenders to prioritize those borrowers. The cares act had rules specifically laying this out the report also recommended that the agency collects demographic information going forward. An additional problem for these owners is that they are more likely to be sole proprietors in other words. Their businesses are owned by one person. According to Ashleigh Harrington Senior Policy Counsel at the Center for responsible lending we're talking about businesses of color. Most of them are very small businesses so their sole proprietorship or they have left teams. Leave in fact more likely to be a sole proprietorship in any of the other. Small businesses budget has six people on her team. And they're all contractors making her business one of one person sole proprietorships. Some of those were only allowed to apply for P. P. Funds one week after other businesses that put them in the back of the line to get the money which ran out quickly during the first round in addition relationships with banks matter according to Michael Roth. He's managing partner at next street which works with local governments on small business policy. Black and Hispanic owned businesses because of their lack of access to capital from banks and financial institutions and friends and family are far more likely to use personal funds to finance their businesses. And generally. That's run out of you know personal checking accounts that could be a problem for some businesses in the program because some banks would only loan to people with business accounts so owners without those. Were shut out. The boy says that if she doesn't get the funding it won't take her business down completely but it could make life harder. The main thing that we're on the verge of losing is our office space. Yeah we won't go out of business but it's already hurt the contractors who rely on her for income one of my team members and taken a job with Amazon for example but but with still pushing to get business in for now. She says they're working on a new project to make sure health information about corona virus can reach poor and immigrant communities as well as communities of Color

"Has been postponed that was march eleventh when an announcer called off the Oklahoma City Thunder and Utah Jazz game. Just before tip off. Most of US remember that day it was the day. President trump announced the travel restrictions from Europe. The day Tom Hanks and read a Wilson said they had tested positive for Kovic nineteen and the day the NBA suspended the rest of the season after Rudy. Gobert the Utah Jazz Center head tested positive for the virus. You may remember go bare as the player who touched all the microphones at a Utah Jazz media event as a prank. He didn't know he was positive at the time and later apologized for it. I'm a huge basketball fan myself so I was crushed when I heard the news of the NBA suspension. But of course public health comes first to me that really was the watershed moment in the entire. Corona Virus Cova nineteen conversation and not just sports but in our culture. Christine Brennan has been covering sports for three decades. She says she hasn't seen anything like this in her entire career. I think it woke the nation and the world frankly up to the significance and the seriousness of the corona virus pandemic after the NBA suspended season. It was like a domino effect. Major league soccer in the NHL have suspended their seasons for now while Major League. Baseball is hoping to open season in May according to ESPN and the NCWA cancelled it spring and winter championships as a wolverine go blue. I love March madness. It's one of my favorite times of the year. I even had tickets to the final four this year so I was really disappointed when that didn't happen but the threat to our health and safety was too great and it wasn't just the safety of the fans it was for the safety of the athletes to eleven thousand. Olympians expected to compete in Tokyo. This summer had their plans. Put on. Hold the Twenty Twenty Summer Games now postponed until twenty twenty one. The Games have been canceled three times before. But this is the first time they've been postponed and of course even a date. That far ahead doesn't come without concerns. Christine Brennan told me well we in the summer of two thousand twenty one. We'll people feel comfortable. Flying on planes overseas will the Japanese fans feel comfortable being in big stadiums and the answer is over and over experts. I've talked to. We have no idea. We just do not know but by that point of course a lot of these. Olympic athletes will have lost months and months of training. I just don't think we know yet and I think that uncertainty is so difficult for athletes. Consider that Olympic athlete. Their whole lives for this one moment. I was hardly know just as we train for for almost a year to two years. Just make the Olympic team. That's odd the beater Amman. An Olympic distance runner twenty twenty was the fifth time he's qualified at forty three. He's also the oldest American to run the marathon in the Olympics. You know before before the device you have a goal does the one thing you have like road races coming up you. Have you have something to get ready for this time? Everything's on the air. I just training just to stay fit and the sports world isn't just waiting on the sidelines. In the midst of the Pandemic Major League Baseball is now participating in a nationwide Corona Virus Antibody Study League employees spouses and players volunteered to participate to help give a better understanding of how prevalent this virus really is so I go is not to get an obese specifically back to work go in our research is really to get a bit of understanding of what the true prevalence looks like across the nation. I spoke with Daniel Lichner. The president and lab director of the Sports Medicine Research and Testing Laboratory. They were great pot down in a great organization because the head nationwide coverage that we could access individuals that were I seem to matic regular part of the general population. You know from team owners all the way down to hotdog vendors and be sales people on Game Day and everything in between you're looking at the MLB it sounds like sort of a microcosm then of the country Representing different demographics of our country. Can Can you talk me through how it was administered? Then in how quickly then did they get results? Some people could do drive-thru program where they have a bunch of their technicians. Physicians trainers and the Individuals with the drive through. Stick their finger out the window get fingerprint can get the result literally in a matter of minutes and it seems like most people would fundamentally want to know. Then am I now essentially immune can I get infected again? I think which too soon to say what that immunity looks like now. The federal government is slowly making plans to reopen the country. As I said earlier president trump has asked major league sports commissioners to be apart of that conversation the commissioners have a tough job. They're weighing a lot of things. In making the decision of how in win to get back to work commissioners work for the owners and their league and and the owners are going to want to start playing. They're going to want to start making money again. They're not liking the losses the financial losses that they're taking of course no one is the commissioners also have to weigh the very significant health risks. Not just for the players and their families and the referees and the coaches and the TV people and the and the media people But also the fans in the stands. And if you're drawing people into a stadium and if it becomes a corona virus hotspot and all of a sudden explodes. That is the fear of every commissioner in every sport you open up too soon you bring people together and all of a sudden you have another corona virus bomb sports says we know it may not be the same for a long time the NFL draft. Which starts tonight. We'll be held. Virtually for the first time as was the WNBA draft last week. The League plans to start its regular season in September and the draft helped set that into motion. Here's NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in an interview with ESPN. Obviously it's a different year for all of us. We had to make modifications in our offseason program We've had to make significant changes to our draft And those are all appropriate and their right to do. And we you know part of what this is about is continued to work from home by-product from home continue to do things we're supposed to do and be prepared. There's also the possibility that spectator less sports will become the new normal Christine Brennan predicts that will happen at the PGA men's golf tournament when it comes back in June and the masters in November. We could see an a masters without spectators. And that's GonNa look very strange to a lot of people. Although my prediction here is that within a couple of days of watching some of these sports events. If you watch a baseball game without spectators day is not gonNA look a strange the next day and by the third or the fourth day. You're going to be totally used and you're just going to be happy. You're watching baseball again. I think sports is walking a very fine line. It's kind of a tight rope. We want sports back. It'll make people happy it'll signal this openness that maybe we're we're coming out of this and yet you don't WanNa move too fast. Olympic runner of the Bearman thinks that the twenty twenty one Olympics will be a history making record breaking year. But I think he's GonNa going to unite us. I'm just GONNA have so much energy like a lot of things. Going every athlete winner represent contract because they know what their country went through so everybody wanted to do when do their best Magic Johnson also remains hopeful America. All of us who live in this great country that we live in. We need sports especially in a time like this but only if everybody is safe

"Hey Sabrina how's it going good her you that Sabrina UNESCO the presumptive number-one pick tomorrow's WNBA draft? I'm good so the draft is tomorrow night I tell us. What is the scene at? Your House can't be like I'm really just going to be with my parents. My brother and his wife and the twin brother just a small group of us that have been together and just watch the TV in. Have a good time. Are you going to get dressed up in any way which these days means just putting on pants with the button? Yeah No. I'm not going to wear a dress or anything. I think I'm just going to put on jeans and a shirt. That's big in the big. That shows you're serious. I can't remember the last time I wear jeans. But that's neither here nor there. You are not the only duck headed to the pros at your teammates. Bali Ruthie Hubbard are both being projected as first round picks which is of course a reminder to everyone of how good the team was obviously the tournament. Being canceled was a big disappointment after you return for a final season. I want to ask about it this way. What do you think you gained from coming back for that last year? I think I gained so much just maturity leadership and just really the relationships that I built during that last year I mean so many people were excited and happy that I returned in. I mean I think the community just around women's basketball at in Oregon grew when so it was really eye opening to be able to see all the relationships that I made during that year. And just how close a as a team that we got so Obviously that translated on the Evolving my game getting better on all sides so the drafts is happening. Which is great even though it's virtual but there is no certainty right now around the actual season. How are you wrapping your mind around that yet? I mean it's hard trying to figure out when to ramp up training in exactly you know knowing when the seasons GonNa be played in when you're supposed to be in your prime in so just trying to do everything I can to stay in shape so as of now. I'm just running playing basketball working out. You know not trying to do too much too soon. Just because I'm not sure when the season's GonNa start but just staying mentally and physically ready you have wanted to play in the WNBA. Since you are very young we have video evidence that three laws just throwing the ball around again a lot of experience playing on my brothers ten foot from overall value on my basketball experiences looking forward to anymore my family has always been there for as Beijing to keep pushing David. Wnba and now that it's here it's sort of at your footsteps. How do you feel it will be different from the basketball? You played so far. I mean it's going to be completely different. Just the physicality the level of competition. It's kind of just a new way of taking on the game in a new way of basketball. It's going to be completely different than college. High School anything that I've ever done in some really excited for the opportunity to get better and just learn finding different ways to look up to not only my teammates but other veterans in the League. Transfer Ball game in that aspect. Would you anticipate being the most challenging part? Probably just getting adjusted to the physicality in the speed of the game. I mean it coming in as a rookie. There's there's players there that you know I've been planning for ten plus years so they're gonNa make sure no they let you know that you're a rookie in so I think that aspect is going to be fun but also challenging. You got a preview of the pros last November when your team played and beat team. Usa Oregon ducks defeating the United States. National TV ninety three eighty six. What was that like? It was awesome to just be able to share a court with them and learn from them. Obviously the wind was awesome. But I think it was even more special that you know. We're able to sell out crowd against team. Usa just learn from them engage in conversation with them and be able to share court with them because not a lot of people say that they've done that. Was there anyone on that court? That made you geek out a little where you're like. I cannot believe I am right now on a basketball court with person I mean for sure. Like suber Diane Atrocity. There were so many players but I think those would probably be to my favorite just because of gotten to know them a little bit in in being able to play with them. This was an honor so every mock draft every analysts every article has you projected to be the first overall pick. How does that make you feel? I mean until my name's called until I can sign the paper. I'm not too excited about it. I don't WanNa be disappointed so I never expect anything so obviously very humbled excited about the opportunity to be playing in Brooklyn in that organization until here might many call notes official kind of just keeping up level so if you did go first overall a Newark Liberty. Were ten twenty four buses in anywhere you go near the top you'd be on a rebuilding team. How does that strike you joining a team? That's not already on top. I mean I did that organ for the last four years so I know exactly what it's like having to come in kind of build a program from the ground up so that doesn't scare me at all. I'm excited to be. You know a piece of the puzzle in hopefully get things rolling when you look back at your college career. Take stock of it. What was the most special moment to you? I probably just say time with my teammates and getting filed for there were so many highs through those four years in so many great wins and just being able to do that with a group of girls in team that really cares about each other was very special. What was the lowest moment? Probably losing in the final four on my career short. Those two probably the worst. How did you get the news that the tournament was cancelled or coach? Had texted us. Basically just said you guys can stay where you are with your families. You don't have to return gene. The tournaments cancelled arm. Sorry in everyone was responding in that group messages. Our team were chatting so you let us know and obviously it was heart breaking out again. You were expecting it to go that direction. How long did take you to kind of process? You know. I wasn't really processing it. I try not to think about it too much in just like all right. This is out of my control. It is what it is in Kinda. Just try to look forward on on what was next in. There are so many things going on that I didn't really you know. Focus on it too much in. Probably they look back into Swish. That we couldn't went on with the season so we could have seen how it would turn out in what have been able to play my last game knowing it was my last game but just not to look back on it too much. We had an episode. Fivethirtyeight ran a simulation on the tournament. They head Baylor winning now. Our analyst opposed that idea. How do you think it would've played out I don't think we were going to lose again. I guess. Take that as you want it but I did not see us losing again. So that's all I can say. Well I think watching the draft and seeing the number of players who were going to be taken first overall. That doesn't seem like a outrageous proposition. No three out of the top ten probe. We're going to be going to the League from one team that speaks for itself and super excited for my teammates. But I do think it speaks about what we had as a team. They're probably not likely that another team. Whatever you know. Get to that point again. What is the aspect of playing regularly that you miss the most just competing in playing games especially an Eugene is having our fan base in projected to have two more sellout crowds probably about twenty thousand people in Portland if we made it so regionals and so having that support system implying a real game something that all that are missing right now? You mentioned that Oregon Team USA. You guys sold out a game. Obviously you have gotten a lot of people excited about women's basketball some people that maybe weren't as excited before. How do you hope to continue that? When you get to the pros. Yeah I mean it's been awesome sooner transformation in Eugene with fans of for my first year to my last than new hopefully being able to bring To wherever team I end up in Kinda just change the way that they view women's sports in hopefully can bring joy and happiness not competing that is kind of addicting and people do want to be a part of that in watching that culture so hopefully just taking matt from from what. I did an Eugene in bringing that to To whatever team on

Batouly Camara: Awakening in purpose

"A young athlete. I would say the bars set pretty high. The first time I ever saw women play Played on old boy. Seen when I start playing basketball I was introduced to the game by woman but the first game I ever went to the WNBA GAME. Sounds like me so it was like Here in our from probably one hour thing and all girl play Basketball Naseen. Hulo Professional League ignorance is bliss so I would say it was definitely suggests reach my potential. I don't think I ever really said I saw WNBA. I loved it but I think it was to work to kind of reach mile potential with my biggest goal. At that moment I started ages twelve to two things on that day for you said the retail potential. You know so at eight to twelve. What did that look real? Potential potential. Just Matt being at the peak of of my career because when I went to the game what I loved the most was the diversity I saw a core and how every body and just being a young inquisitive curious kid I went from seeing Kia Vaughn. Who's like six five to like? Leilani Melanie Mitchell. Like you know five six. And she's fine with two nasty and I'm like they're not the same but they've all kind of reached their potential in some way. Some regard are now that I'm older Still playing still working on their craft. But at that moment it wasn't about comparison is about personal growth. But once you reach your personal growth you can then get to. The highest level is a lot so when you have the game like I want to be on that day I wanNA share the court in. I WANNA know papillon whatever may be. How do you think I'm GonNa go achieving that it was just this sense of actually had a podcast with my coach? Taught me how to make like a a layup as you say you just have this kind of hunger about you and again. It was just as curiosity. I didn't know I didn't know any of those players didn't know anyone at that level but I just remember how much it it bugged me inside. We know nights where would turn. And I didn't know who go to our coaches at that point in a you in Eugene was so far away but they really allow me to focus on day to day. So that's why did I focused on the day to day and just really just trying to put in as much work as I can control. Though I've learned from like the guests every on that lobby will have today on idolized. You know that might become emulate their game. You Watch like I WANNA learn their moves. It was definitely I say growing up Having older brother the account and learn about the men's game so my brother loved Hakeem he always talked about him. Entering accused dream. You know growing up in a Muslim household. You know the keenest fate than what he stood for. That was initial draw but as I became more fan in sunny if it works that he accused Work in all the grades he's taught than us aren't look more about women in my more and I just remember watching 'em in the final four in little wayne was on the sideline and it was kind of this weird thing where I just loved jives and she just seemed like she's having so much fun with it. Saudi young age I WANNA. I played really admired economy. Idle and at. What point did you think like you? I'm pretty good at this ball like I can. May I have a channel teaching my potential never after like it's definitely a journey but I would say probably junior year high school? I remember walking into? We have open gym. You know humor coaches come in at that point. I was out of okay you know. Tunisia was okay. And we walk in and we have over. I want to say twenty five college coaches and these are just hide the coaches so he has stanford that day Yukon. We had Kentucky all in this building and it was about five of my teammates. Three of us. Who ARE REALLY GOING TAB? The one and so it was kind of surreal feeling as a young kid but one that didn't take lightly. I was nervous. You know I wanted to be good. You WanNa why to perform It was kind of in that moment whereas like all Kayla avalon way to go. But we're taking baby steps now to what kept you grounded Theme like Kentucky is the part that really ongoing even kill. What kind of help you day. You know that it always more than technology do more. I would definitely say the people. I was surrounded by they even from a young age like for example when I was fourteen. That's what I went to Blair Academy and that's Kinda where really developed my skills who I am was a person and one of my teammates. Her name is bridget and a net. Infamy this core group seniors who just had great might. You were now walking into the gym and for me. I was a freshman. I was good. You not do it I wanNA and they shut it down. Bridget graduated top of her class at West. Point so talk about someone with discipline and so she was just very adamant about the process and they will get every day for six. Am workouts on. Like talk to me if I did it and say you know you need to be there so constantly always telling me you've never arrived at his journey and my mentor. The same way. Schnee saying you know you've never robbed it journey in their quick to say you know this which means getting better on With celebrate knee. But also telling me what I need to do better. You never arrive there. The journey That deep at the can take value from two. You know just that you can always return another level. He Never GonNa GonNa read them mountaintop. Yes absolutely yeah so when Tom Day. Chew that college could you? You know you were a one Top Not by one or two on the team so they wanna give you ever that. That's really what you're like number two I in the shooting school you know. How did you go about that first? Half that it was an interesting process and to me. The recruiting process started off trae stressful. You have all these great schools you know. I used to just pray guy. God is Doin' in options. The options were there so I was super fortunate to have that because I would live in. I was in the same room with somebody who didn't even know if they're going to get a scholarship. So that can be Ground level headed but I did enjoy the process because I was thankful for thankful to get to know coaches so pretty early on. I create a pros and cons. I created questions. I asked each coach. How far wants to go? If distance even mattered if conference matter at the time. That didn't matter to me. And so from the merits my top five. It's my top two which was Kentucky and Uconn and I remember taking a visit early in Yukon and then taking a visit to Kentucky about may NFL. At that time I was exhausted. I my one official visit but I was exhausted with the process house. Like I'm completely over. This and I may great connections with Girls Kentucky with the coaching staff Mafia comfortable. So at that point and not sadness so that way you kind of felt the exact same way you can. I guess it was there in front of me if fell right at the moment and so cast okay. I'm going into my senior year of a you and I didn't want to have to choose a wine to be solidified before seeing junior year because at the time that's when they first changed a rule so I wanted to be committed by senior year I was died. I didn't want the pressure anymore and committed end so that was an interesting process so again now the pros and cons list talking to coaches distance cannot into consideration. The one came down that pros and cons What kind of look like for me. Family is everything and people say that lightly but I wanted somewhere where I was going to be there for four years and my biggest fear was transferred out one life. I wanted to make the perfect decision. I wanted a place where players came back growing up A lot of places and I've learned I've learned now what it really means to come back in Soviet with access comeback. Why they don't why they do. Because you can be on the team with twelve people in. Everyone has drastically different experiences. But I really wanted somewhere where a majority of the players came back. I wanted a place with rich history. Not just a yeah. We're GONNA Iran this conference but rich like Deep Kentucky history. You know I love that you call history at WanNa tradition. I felt that was important. Especially after coming for Blair Academy being able to see a loan to connect with them. I love that that was huge to me player development players who play like me who look like me And how they developed over time and again just that relationship piece so two that to me again with academics being able to holistic route players. Who actually talked about being a person versus those who actually developed in the curriculum. They had in place. So were you reading a book to your team. And where were they nurturing their growth from outside of school so different things than to Alone could it wasn't just people based on the name of the school. It was like there was office behind how you're going to fit in how you going to be able to enjoy love the that freshman year at. Kentucky. How'd you describe that? Chapter title that chapter. It is so funny. You know the theme for that summer I remember our first conditional gap the code saying arson conditioning coach. He said we're GONNA name this summer. It's GonNa be expect. The unexpected now is the name of the summer so you know it was crazy. Be expect the unexpected it. "And and so. I think that perspective most players that I've been around their career Iran's three years before they think it's going to end and so usually when it's time for it to be over your surprised by that's how it is for ninety. Nine percent sounded the guys and so a perspective of someone who's kind of been on both sides of it. I think is important make sense. Did you the report. The packers forty niners squirrel I in the NFC amazing considering considering both teams have losing records last year in the AFC. The Titans and chief will battle it out with these super bowl trip up for grabs. The final overreaction on this Monday the packers and the forty niners the forty. niners going to Miami Victor. This is an overreaction guys mainly Eh picking the go pack go into Rogers is shown me that he can get he can just get it done. He can flat out get it done on and the reason he can get it done as because devante. I think the way he gets the ball to him. I think the chemistry that they both have and listen. I can speak to a little chemistry between a quarterback and receiver. I've been there many. And when you when you're on the same page with your quarterback like they are you feel like you are untouchable. You go through these practices you understand exactly how you WANNA WANNA attack this team. And I think they're doing that as we speak. And I think when you have that level of confidence between your quarterback and you're wide receiver only good things come from that and the niners are going to have their hands full trying to guard Devante Atas because he's a spectacular town. If it does happen. Aaron Rodgers will go nine years between starts in the super bowl largest gap ever by starting quarterback. which would break the record previously held by John Elway when eight years between his superbowl starts to the super spotted? Say but that. That that overreaction or no okay okay the only thing I agree with field. It's not I'm no reaction and it would be the longest right like I think the issue is. I don't think the packers can block the the forty niners I just. I don't think they can the banged up at tackle. The last time they played them they couldn't block them. Aaron Rodgers as we scored eight points. They really struggled offensively and I think when we look at the niners now I think they're better now than they were last time. They played on the defensive side of the ball. So thirty seven. Nobody surely that offense one hundred like yeah it was. It was really bad. You have to think they're playing better as well. Though that that that Green Bay offense a little bit I in Aaron Rodgers can create offense and volunteer Adams great but if you just get dominated friends friends who we saw weekend it team that dominated the other team front. They won the game. Look look at the. Vikings Viking seemed to run the football a A. Rod as he's not going to be a sitting duck in that pocket. He's going to be moving around. He's not going to be an easy guy. Just come and sit back there seven yards in being attacked by Joey. Bosa thank you for that information new. NFL live from our Texans reporters. Sarah Barshop Bill. O'Brien hasn't met with owner Kalmyk near but when asked whether Texans will hire a GM he said the way. I see it right now. It stays the way it is here are sounds of the weekend.

"A lot of good players WanNa feel really on both sides of the ball but for Clemson. When you're going up against show borough Isaiah sense could be probably anywhere between the fourth pick in on the seventh eighth outside? Linebacker should be all over the field. You think about a guy. LETTERMAN tackles for loss and sacks second and total tackles interceptions. He's got to be a factor after running a covering where he runs and covers a cornerback. WAY SLIPS US fits and turns and looks back with football and the way he gets after the quarterback a lot to do that obviously against Joe Furrow. We mentioned joker on why improved a lot of that with Justin Jefferson wide. Receiver eliminated some of those costly drops. He was phenomenal last. Two Games. One Eighty one receptions three hundred and forty two yards and five down. We'll see what. Aj Terrell quarterback for Clemson Kazoo up against Justin Jefferson. Justin Jefferson. Right now a late I karoly second round pick on the defense side for Lsu at that same spot grant delve it. You think about a guy who can do everything you want to safety to do. But he didn't miss a lot of tackles tackles this year he was bothered by that ankle. Injury help me late in the season. He needs to be at his best in this game. Going up against Trevor Lawrence Grant dealt but right now I project more of a mid first round pick back in August you would be maybe top ten struggles in tackling glued them into that mid to late first round area wide receiver. He's pagans from Clemson. He's six foot for. He's got that great catch radius. He was red hot up until the Ohio State Game Ohio state contained against. It didn't look real explosive explosive. He didn't get a lot of separation he's come up big and he's going to be challenged because LSU has a couple of corner and one of those corners LSU as Christian Fulton Christian Fulton Nadda year and a little up and down in college but he put it all together. I thought mid to late this season opposite Derek. Singley the great true freshman corner that means Trevor Larson's GonNa not to be on top of his game going up against the corners relish you with Fulton's thing lake and that outstanding safety and grant Dolphin. I now stay with us a little over reaction Monday. You know we do that here. And since you're with us we're going to play along. Trevor Lawrence will be better. NFL quarterback then will joe. Borough is mel smell up. I is is that an overreaction Mel I think the question could be a bit of an overreaction all these things it's shit what it is about a quarterback who in one season did something remarkable and for Trevor. He was expected to be coming out of high school. The number one guy which he was he was talking about last year's number guy. You would be the number. Why this year ahead of borough and they'll be the the number one guy next year he's Andrew Luck Peyton manning in that regard Joe? Borough was not even that kind of player as I said so. It's unfair I will say this. The higher graded player will be Trevor Lawrence. It doesn't always mean he'll be the better pro so I think tonight's game. We'll tell us something. Obviously Trevor has got another season to go but on pure grade alone guys you would Shea Trevor Lawrence but the question is an overreaction says he's going next. Tim Overreaction are now also over extra Mel said the higher graded player will be Trevor Ever Lawrence. I think it'd be the higher rated player by a lot. Mike knows this. When you look at quarterbacks and bill parcells used to have a formula of how many starts he? He wanted quarterback to have them while earl has played a lot last year. Wasn't like this year is Trevor Lawrence. The amazing thing is. He had all these his expectations coming out of high school. You takes over a job for God. That's a capable or more than capable starter. And then he plays incredible and he does that by. I put together another season where he plays incredible. He's going to be forced to do it again because of the rules next year. Trevor Lawrence is going to basically have two and three threequarter seasons as a starting quarterback at clemson where the production in the play is going to check a ton of boxes and then the physical CBS skill set. He's a superior athlete in thrower to Joe. Borough so I I think the great won't be the same. I think he does end up being a better pro. I just think it's an overreaction when I look Joe Burrow he just looks if I'm putting together my team and I'm picking a quarterback right now I'm picking Joe Borough. He's his stature his ability to stay calm under pressure his ability to go through adversity being down some points and not pressing and still sticking to his game plan his accuracy. Not that I'm trevor. Lawrence doesn't have all of these but I just when I looked I test my look. Joe Borough. I want my team to be led by player like that Because of what he brings to the table. So I'm going with Joe Bonus well if you're from Wendi NIX territory. The Great State of South Carolina drawing you that the character and the stature pitcher in the football integrity that Joe Borough has turned Lawrence also as one twenty five straight games to begin his college career. Not An overreaction for me as well and listen aged can sometimes we know with quarterbacks not be as important. These guys are playing until they're forty. Trevor Lawrence is twenty years old. He's twenty. Tim Does a great job calling game when the ACC network they'll tell you right. How would you agree with this team that Trevor Six? He's implying can fill out. He has a high school player. Look like Jeff. Saturday tells a great story of meeting again because Jeff Coaches High School Football Georgia Meeting Trevor Lawrence and Jeff played nearly fifteen years at center in the NFL. I said when he shook his hand you know. Basically like swallow Jeff's elbow. I felt like a little kid meeting in terms of like what he looks like. And just like looking the part like I test turn. Lawrence is off the charts. That way. I think you're only grow into a little bit more and his athletic abilities sensational. I mean we saw that Ohio state that that really was the played that kick started the offense for Clemson in that game the sixty or so yard run that he took in for a touchdown. When it's like that best? Okay now Mike Okay here opinion but I think where you are right here. Wendy one thing about Trevor Lawrence the first seven games he was fourteen touchdowns eight interceptions the last seven games. He was twenty one eight two touchdowns zero interception his year was a little bit uneven. Where that wasn't the case with Joe Borough and for Trevor Lawrence? He played a much easier. Schedule Borough play a much more challenging schedule by mile so I would say with physical ability and talent your lawrence but does that mean. He'll be better not necessarily about the late. Great Johnny and nuttiest thinking about Tom. Brady thing thing about drew brees. There's lots of quarterback than have enormous physical talent but we're phenomenal quarterback so that's why I say this is a tough question. It's really unfair question. Because Lawrence has another year. He's younger anger. Borough was remarkable. But this if you go by just this year borough was the better quarterback over Trevor Lawrence Talent is Lawrence but the better year. was clearly Joe Burns now John. Hey question question now Mike. We'll let Mike Tigar hate to disagree with VIC. But I would have to go with Trevor Lawrence so I would say. It's not an overreaction. From this standpoint I agree with everything that's been said to other things. Let's not overcomplicate things. He's never watched a game as a starter and two going back to what you've talked about with coach parcells when Trevor Lawrence walks in the room. He looks like he has the better chance to being built to last from the waist down. He looks like the bigger guy. I've seen Joe Borough. Oh three times live this year. My only concern about Joe Borough is this. He has the physique to withstand the rigors of sixteen game season and no more than this season in. We see how important it is have durability at the quarterback position and the fact that job has only did it for one year is a concern. Now if I'm I'm turning the card if I had to pick between the two right and of course you have to pick between the two at least not this time around. Because as mel aptly pointed out he's got another season he'll come out in twenty twenty one mel thank you. We'll let you play in. We're not Mike. Thanks for joining us well new. NFL live from our chief reporter reporter. Adam Tiger Andy. Reid said he's not sure Chris Jones will play against the titans said. He wasn't close to play against the Texans. He couldn't push off. According to the head. Coach beast mode was back. Marshawn Lynch averaged just one point eight yards per Russian is two games this postseason by far his lowest in any ever over six playoff appearances but did show up his signature. Goal Line tenacity punching in two touchdowns on the ground and Seattle's lost and after it yet some advice it's for younger players on the other side of a retirement and his good. When you get over there and you could do you want to so? Oh I'll tell you right now. y'All in it take care of your breed so when you do go ahead and take care of yourself so why y'all edit right now take care of your bodies bodies and I mean. Don't take care of your chicken. You don't take care of your mental because Lil Wayne last night long I heard a couple of players play with uh I mean they no longer hear them all day no longer so I mean you start taking Curiel mantles your body's chicken from we all you know ready really walk away. Walk away and you'd be able to do what you want to do but I appreciate it thank you I title sounds good. Sounds bad on the marshawn Lynch career advice. Listen certainly taking carry yourself. Seems like Wise Decision Victor. The sounds great to me. I just think obviously visit. This is said in Marshawn Lynch is way the way he only way he knows how to get his point across this way but I think the message is clear is take care of your body take carry yourself player that I ran onto the field with during the Super Bowl win. That's no longer with me. That's no longer here. And those things you know you realize how real football is and how real is game is and how detrimental it can be to your livelihood both whether you have cte or if you have those challenges his or you just didn't take care of your chicken right and you're left without the amount of money and you're still have to go out there and work and work hard and things of that nature so chicken in this case nice talking about taking care of the money. I'm sounds great and there are a lot of players that have been leaked for a long time that are there certainly respected effective but there is a certain way that players across the League seem to universally hold marshawn lynch in this reverential manner right. He is just he sort of. This is the spirit that everyone loves. Marshawn Lynch right now. I think because he speaks so infrequently and such a unique way that Wendy speaks it might even carry more meaning saying that if somebody else were conveyed this message in the NFL. It just means a little bit more. I think this is GonNa hit home for some players. WHO ARE GONNA be some guys that are going to be thinking? Not about their football immortality maybe about the football mortality. That like maybe one day my time will come and let's pay attention to this guy beast mode following this just really. I think when you anytime you've ever spoken to marshawn Lynch whether it be in front on the field. or He's just a real guy he's not going to sugarcoat anything. He's not lying to you buy anything. He's going to be honest straightforward about how he feels about whatever's on his mind. He's not there just doesn't get find. It sounds good. It actually sounds exactly the way I worded my advice to field when he signed his. I told you can't take your chicken. Your mental mental. I mean I think unique situations usually when football is over for a guy it's over. Did you get another crack at it. What's interesting for Marshawn is because it ended right? He's an attorney in more than a peak doc and then he got into like another taste back into it and I think your perspective is different than your perspective is different when you've been retired and you know what it's like and you're like okay like I was tired from playing but it was some good parts about that and there was some. You know some perks that come with that.

"Discipline issues staying on his side of the field thing on the side of the ball off and I know what he brings to the table. I know he brings a lot of pass rushing abilities which you always need but I just think they need to move on hi Mike Tate. Vikings should move on from Kirk cousins the following the twenty twenty season so one more year yet whether they absolutely should. That's not an overreaction quarterback Joe Joe wins and losses. I Sire these eighteen twelve and one over the last two years guys in the League. He's been an average quarterback. They pay too much money. There are better options out there. Better use of the salary Cap Doc. Garner the days where they backed up the truck The Kirk cousins sweepstakes trucks boot on down the road. Get up and move on all right. Listen as we headed into the weekend there was one remaining head. Coaching vacancy. That belongs to the Cleveland Browns. It appears that is not the case any longer. The browns is planned to hire vikings coordinator Kevin's defence gate. He's the OC in Minnesota. He was a finalist for the browns job last year that was prior to the browns announced promoting Freddie Kitchens who was fired after a loan season. So Cleveland has guy. And then in the form of Kevin's Danske. He actually interviewed last year. He spent his entire coaching career with the Vikings he started as an assistant to the head. Coach under Brad childress before working his way up to the offensive coordinator. Position under Mike Zimmer of field. I'll start with you again a rookie head coach. That was the case with credit kitchen. So back back. Why in this case is it Kevin Stefanski well the browns in necessarily tip their hand? But we knew that the prominent players in the served involved two coaches that were still coaching over the weekend. Sapan ski and also Robert Sala but Stansky was on. Their radar is a finalist last year. He's been with the Vikings for the entirety of his NFL coaching careers. You just saw on that graphic but he seems to align but some of the philosophical belief that the browns have right now and I think the work analytics gets thrown around a little bit too broadly sometimes in the sport of football the browns are looking to take an analytical approach and I think the Kevin Stansky is on board with some of the tenants of the browns are looking to institute. We'll see where they end up with the general manager but for now they have an important piece in place to Kevin's defence. All the data's been in the wings in Cleveland. This is who he wanted from the get go to even two seasons ago so he gets says man Mike and now you represent is too fancy at one point. What's he bring to the table here? I think it's a good hire from a standpoint. Kevin is a steadying sort of presence. He's open-minded which field his alluded to. And I think for what that organization needs. He'll bring a lot to the table in terms of after all the noise that happened last year with Free Kitchens yes survey understated needed sort of presence about him but a natural leader very smart late at University of Pennsylvania. So it's a good higher that one question that I know a lot of people had around the League was after they went through this pretty kitchens one and done situation where they go with more experience. Guy Like Josh mcdaniels. But if they were the root someone that's never done before I think Kevin Sanski Ascii is again. As I said alignment again. I like his poise. I like his presence. Can we have any issues here that they will go with someone who has no head coaching experience again or just at kitchens don't and I think sometimes we can. Do I think that head. Coaching Experience Matters Ado. I think it can help somebody. But it should that be disqualifying. You know she'll be a disqualifier for somebody. I don't think it should be if you possess a lot of the characteristics that Mike is talking about this when if you just look and say okay. What does Cleveland need? Cleveland needs some with good organization. Skills skills someone's good discipline skills and I think that you need somebody to kind of just professionalize that group up a little bit and by all accounts. It seems like Stefanski would do that. I just love the fact. That's the fancy has experience working with two receivers that are stops right in in Stefan bonded atom deal. And I think he's coming into the Cleveland browns situation and having to work with two receivers that are stopped and how to get them in positions to be successful how to get them in positions to score a bunch of touchdowns and have a bunch of catches. I think that's what I look at. Specifically from an offensive play calling perspective is understanding how to get to stud receivers going at a high level. And I think that's what he's GonNa Bring to the table in Cleveland. What are the x factor when you're hiring inexperienced coach and I've been through this a few times as is you WanNa have somebody that's been a former head coach? Greg Chappell that with Sean McVeigh reason. Wade Phillips obviously they had tremendous success so we should really keep an eye on hudas. Kevin SA- fancy bring with them and can backfill someone that experienced with. Maybe a couple former coaches search yeah. I didn't think that I almost think you need to do that. Because the stuff that you're going to face after being coordinator just like off the field stuff like you have a great game guy gets arrested. Union mean like like there are things that you have to deal with that I think having the benefit the wisdom of somebody. That's gone through that before you know is critical. And let's be honest type of guys that are in Cleveland. Things happening around the outside side of the football field are likely yeah. He says what everybody thinks. It's likely those issues arise played it pen in the Ivy Leagues. You Miss. You know what Tim needs to give up. Don't worry about but he doesn't have anything to say. Okay we're a week away from the Conference Championship Games and already our head. Coaching vacancies are filled Ron Rivera. He'll start with the redskins. Rule takes his place for the panthers. Then around things out. Mike McCarthy heads the cowboys Joe Judge the giants and now Kevin Stefanski. The browns Pat Pat Shurmur departed from the New York football giants. But he has a new job he will take over. It appears as offensive coordinator in Denver. The broncos finished he's twenty eight in total offense and scoring leading to the change Shurmur force recently fired as the giants head coach. The Jaguars Offensive Coordinator John D.. FELIPO mutually agreed to part ways after a single season. Jacksonville announced that decision today. Saying that coach Doug Marrone will immediately. CLE- began the search for a new offensive coordinator Moreau's job prove safe just a week or so ago well between Clemson and Lsu they're five players ranked in the top twenty five of Mel Kiper. Juniors big board headlined by QUARTERBACK JOE BURROW UNDER CENTER FOR CLEMSON will will be Trevor Lawrence. He's expected to go early in the twenty twenty one nfl draft. There's never been a college national championship game. Featuring two quarterbacks that were selected I in their respective drafts. But there's a first time for everything in for more. We say hello to Mel Kiper. Junior and Mel Joe Borough playing in the biggest this game of his life tonight against Clemson. Who's got an incredible defense? What are you looking for tonight out of the young quarterback joe boroughs been remarkably consistent when the every game this year? He completed seventy one percent of his passes or higher. That is unbelievable. We think about last year he was a fifty eight percent for the season. Now is it seventy the eight percent. You'll get about touchdowns last year. Sixteen is a fifty five this year. He has been remarkable to go back to where he was considered an August. It'd be a late round pick and no better backup quarterback in the NFL. The be the number one pick overall Joe Brady had something to do with that coming from the saints bringing that offense coordinator there with the players got better receivers weren't dropped as many passes to layer game strong running game the offensive line. Got It done. But Joe Borough the marked improvement Ruben s improved as any player can ever remember Wendy to go from as I said a late round. Pick it best to the number one pick overall just unbelievable. We've seen that last last couple of years with Baker Mayfield who was a third round grade coming in and then of course Kyle Murray was off the charts and then became the number one. "A clip each and every week but he hasn't had those type two years but he's had those games where he's just willing his team victory getting the ball to devante onto. I mean what a baller he is. I love watching receivers. Just get busy and that was. I was just salivating the whole week and we're busy because that's what you want. You want to have those number. One guys is proved that their number one. God He should be in the conversation for best receivers in the League urine in Europe because he's putting together these types of numbers so he's definitely exceeded expectations taste for me this year. I'M GONNA say not an overreaction. What vixen right? But I'm going a different direction with this. We spent the entire offseason con talking. About how how. Aaron Rodgers is hard to coach. Aaron Rodgers can kind of be abrasive. It didn't really fight for Mike McCarthy. When Mike McCarthy was in Green Bay and he's got this younger younger coach and how is that relationship going to work out? I mean basically everyone said Aaron Rodgers is hard to deal with hard to get along with and you know the marriage between winging head coach. Yeah good luck with that especially being a younger younger head coach and you know what he did get along with them you know. Get along with them and now they are a game away from going to the Super Bowl so I think in many respects. You have a brand new head coach and you've accomplished as a team what they've accomplished this year. And I think that part of the situation if we look Aaron Rodgers in terms of exceeding expectations picture alludes to the numbers. And part of what happens for some quarterbacks especially as as they get older and they understand that Aaron doesn't need more numbers you know like drew brees doesn't need more numbers like I just for and I think that there have been elements of that offense has played differently. I think he is played differently. And so and I think that has a lot to do with the oil. which is what people weren't sure that he could do at this stage of his career and he did it and so? I don't think it's an overreaction. I think it is an overreaction and you guys have set us a number. They don't need the numbers but still number versus standard for us that we are accustomed to with Aaron Rodgers thirty six. He's now been playing football. Obviously since his young twenties despite having to sit out for a few seasons while Brett farve still started there in Green Bay. And I don't mean this as a sign of respect really right. It's we are so accustomed Aaron Rodgers being the most prolific or one of the most prolific quarterbacks and football. It just wasn't that statistically typically this year obviously the as always the interceptions were very low but passing yards passing touchdowns not to the same level we have seen in the past and yes the packers. These are now fourteen and three fourteen. She's we ten of their seventeen games as years. We saw that graphic were decided by one score less so they have found ways to win that have included a running anybody. That's got twenty one touchdowns this season. Aaron Jones a defense that has perhaps the best pass rushing duo at least for this year is Darius and Preston Smith so roger still still incredible the guys I bought hall of Famer and he has the chance to head back to the second super bowls the starter but I don't think he's over. I don't think he's exceeded the expectations because my expectations for Aaron Rodgers. There's every year are for him to be leading his team into a championship game setting every single season. And that's the biggest thing for me is when you get Aaron Rodgers or running game it changed everything it it allows the play action pass to be available to you at allows all those bootlegs we. That's why that play with. Devante Adams worked so well because we're used to seeing him bootleg and go to the right to the left now as bootleg right. Oh Yeah. He's running an anger out the opposite way. And that's how we get a touchdown so that helps. The running. Aaron Rodgers will play for his fourth. NFC Championship next weekend. And all of those by the way have come on the road. What it's worth so they can be done? The fourteen when Ravens fell short in their first first and only postseason game they were only able to post twelve points in that loss. According to the Elias Sports that's the fewest points and a teams first playoff game since the merger during one thousand nine hundred seventy after leading the league in scoring all season. Here's what the Ravens had to stay following the loss to so excited you know we we we we wanted to score. Courts wanted to score points by right away soon as they score but at uh little too fast you know China beat them to the plants maybe just slowed down a little bit. I think out of it. Is You know Israelis team. You know we've been here two years in a row and we've lost so I think you know you got to look stuff mirror. Nothing gets this team right now is identity is get the playoffs show and just I know it is what it is the heart boy use. The word overreaction Monday the Ravens lost to the better eighteen on Saturday before you answer Tim. Hello to Mike Tannenbaum with us. Go on this Monday afternoon as the often is lost the better team. Yeah that's an overreaction. I agree with Marla Humphry. Choke chokes. Okay this is the one seat they're supposed to win. They were supposed they were the better team all all season long. And I think when you look at the way this team kind of acted all season long. I mean they're posing for pictures. Pictures on the sideline when the game still you know going on including the defense coordinator like you have your head coach talking about how you know. The the game aim is GonNa be revolutionised by the quarterback and how everything is different for this team like they. They basically kind of destined for this moment. And the next thing you know they get behind by fourteen points in that quarterback that ran all over the league to throw at fifty sometimes like I think they got into a situation where they weren't playing with a lead need. I think they panicked and I think in another word for that in the postseason would be to choke I when you have your own players saying that. That's that's what happened to you. That doesn't help the cause. I would agree with my call. Mike what do you think I see and Tim. That is not an overreaction. Tosi was the better team if you look over the last month of the season their play as well as anybody and of the four teams. Right now I think. Derrick Henry is one of the five best players in our sports staff and only that one on the other side of the ball. When you look into guys up front giral? Casey and Jeffrey Simmons Korea and Calandra those guys are really strong athletic their dominant They can play space and when this guy on the other side of the ball. I think it'd be hard to be In terms of this weekend the end to see so if they had played Baltimore five more times I think they win. Most of those games and it was just a good matchup for For Tennessee and I start by saying I just love having Umass Allama appear. The smartest is not an overreaction. Tyson said it best. Everybody's got a plan to get punched in the mouth off and I think the opening drive on that interception in the way Lamar Jackson took that guy down. They got punched in the mouth and they didn't know how to climb back from that and you saw that with every single drive. They began to press. They were out of character. They weren't being themselves and I think Tennessee was just in vaccine. We feel like we got better running game. We feel like we have the better offense. That's right now. We're playing with a different level of confidence than they are right now in this moment and they continued to put their foot on the gas each and every time they got the football or whether it was defensively pensively getting after Lamar Jackson and that secondary of the Tennessee. Titans really surprised me. They were at the hip of each and every one of these wide receivers and every time the situation and every any time that there was a big play that needed to be made by the Ravens that titans secondary stepped up and neither got past deflation or an interception or a big play to change the scope of that football game. I liked that everybody's got a plan to get to the truth build. Why can victor? I respect you guys and your football minions feeling we gotta but here here. This is absolutely an overreaction. Wait there isn't. It is an overreaction. I agree with Tim O.. Team and the Baltimore More Ravens that entered the playoffs with twelve straight wins and they weren't particularly close and they were the better team over the last month of the regular season. Their backups were better than Pittsburgh starters in week. Seventeen who were scratching inclined to get into the playoffs. Tim mentioned him. This is a team that was already booking their flights for Miami talking about this run run. They're about to embark upon. And it's possible but we just witnessed perhaps the second greatest or at least one of the five greatest individual seasons at the quarterback spot from the Mark Jackson that we've ever seen in the one hundred years of this sport. The confidence and Bravado emanating from Baltimore was limitless list. This was an absolute flattening job by the titans over the Ravens of to me. This is one hundred percent they beat the chiefs does it change. CHANGE ANYTHING FOR UTAH. Intercarrier has been great but more Jackson was the MVP nearly unanimous. But when you look what since when Ryan Tannehill took over played much not nothing that there are another team so I think there are other teams. I would just say this to to kind love to add to what the perspective of the team and kind of what they thought. Earl Thomas basically came out and was like look at these New England patriots. Defense they don't even want to tackle Derrick Henry like you're basically like that doesn't happen a whole lot in the NFL earl. Thomas did that and then you won't happen. He embarrassed by talk to me like they were calling their shot and then struck out like on Saturday confident. So if you're having that into the ways that would be the biggest thing I love is that you knew. Derrick Henry was going to get the ball twenty times. Can you couldn't do nothing about one day. We're going to. There are two weeks in a row because we knew twice again. Just like the either way you look at it. They're saying not saying I truly sense sense of entitlement coming into this game that hey lemar versus mahomes is going to be amazing next Sunday in Baltimore Right. There was just a Derek. It's GonNa ask to see that if we were GONNA see Houston play Tennessee. Go rapid fire here. Shall we as we do do on Mondays. Sometimes Tim we'll start with you. Titans playing on the road is a non factor Sunday in Kansas City. It's an overreaction going into Kansas City in that environment firemen or that crowd. Noise doesn't help you. I I understand like you feel like you're up against it and all of that but you know it helps your defense to play with a lot. OUGHTA crowd noise and so does the run game travel yet travels but it doesn't help you defend Patrick Mahomes by going on the road road and having to have your defense playing quiet stadium. That's not an advantage and so to me all right field. Yates how about this. We'll talk about San Francisco for just a minute. The forty niners defensive line is the best unit remaining in the postseason. I thought about saying overreaction because Patrick Mahomes by himself would be the best but that being said not overreact the dominant group upfront guys. That can play both from the edge. They've got good death in the interior. They've got rushers that get the job done. In a variety of different ways Nick Boza is lapping on the sidelines of forgetting medical tensions losses breath for a second year dominant player and this exact play. They're so good. They're so deep if they're so talented are going to be a huge challenge. Green Bay's offense in London. I will say with the defense. Just victor the seahawks should let free edge free-agent. Cloudy Walk this off season. This is not an overreaction. I think when you look at his career especially this year he's been called for encroachment. Arthur has had some discipline issues. Nine Times is the season and then he's had some plays doesn't pass game this weekend. Where you kind of look? And he's causing his team because of.

"Ahead on NFL live. Kansas City bounces back from a twenty four point deficit. They hang fifty one on the Texans to move onto the AFC championship Egypt. Game Lamar Jackson the MVP front runner but the ravens come up short against the titans. What does the future hold in Baltimore and tonight we crowd a new national champion getting college? Football Mel Kiper ear. He'll break down the name. Joe Soon. See laying on Sundays. Hello everybody off. We had a great weekend. Glad to have you with us on this Monday. Tim Hasselbeck Victor Cruz field. Yates I'm Wendy next. Mike Tannenbaum will join us in just a bit well and then there were four. We've got the forty niners. Niners the packers on the NFC side of things in the opposite equation the Titans and Chiefs Round Delta AFC company launched one of the greatest comebacks in postseason history. Three still doesn't top the bills. Thirty two point. Come back in the ninety two wildcard round though which was fueled by Frank Reich four touchdowns and remember Andy Reid read and the chiefs were on the end of twenty eight point comeback. That was the two thousand thirteen wildcard game. This was after Andrew Luck brought brought back his colt passing with nearly four hundred and fifty passing yards in super bowl fifty one we all remember. Tom Brady leading his team to an overtime win. This is after they were trailing to the Falcons by as many as twenty five and then we have the chiefs just behind that they climbed back from that twenty four point deficit yesterday to score fifty one points points. In the first quarter of homes completed just four passes the same number of drops. His receiver said he passed for two hundred. Seventy eight yards five touchdowns to rest of the away only Doug Williams and eighty seven never passed for four touchdowns in a quarter of a playoff game before mahomes did just that on Sunday overreaction and Monday this chiefs team this particular team is Andy. Reed's best chance at a super bowl win to date Tim. Is that an overreaction. Yeah that's an overreaction. I think I'm guilty of it. I think we all kind of are guilty of it. We focus so much on offense. We focus so much on the quarterback. Patrick mahomes better than Don mcnabb was not to take anything away from Donovan. 'cause he was a tremendous player in an amazing career. But we focus so much on the quarterback I think we are not paying paying enough attention to what the defense was like in Philadelphia. They just scored fifty one so they may win a super bowl by outscoring people. We go go back to those Philadelphia teams. Brian Dawkins at tasty. You had joy Vinson Bobby Taylor at corner. You had Douglas the Defensive End Corey Simon Inside Dunnes at linebacker like that was a really defensive led team or teams. Oh you know multiple years. They're still really good on offense as well when you think about some of the guys they had on that side of the ball so I actually think those teams were maybe better but this is still a really good opportunity going over-reaction as well for exactly what you say does Philadelphia Eagle Teams. I remember growing up watching those teams and being like wow. This team is loaded defensively offensively. Donovan mcnabb I think those teams the way they were built were just if you put those teams up against this chiefs team from top to bottom. I think you'll find more playmakers on the eagles side of the ball. Then you will on the Kansas City side and I think that's a deciding factor for me. Not An overreaction for me and I'm not just trying to be a person who yeah no I will live with that if such as the case but a couple of factors here to begin with they do host the championship game. Now that's important. You play a team and the titans at has been remarkable and I'm sure we'll talk about them plenty throughout today's show back to back to back Games winning on roads certainly very difficult but and tim is right and Victor Agree with him. I agree with their assessment that they may have been more balanced versions of the eagles. But I'm just not sure matters when your quarterback is transcendent and I think that we have the propensity sensitive for crowning quarterbacks far too soon and perhaps we got a little bit ahead of ourselves this year specifically with Lamar Jackson. But I think Patrick mahomes three seasons into his career now two the full seasons as the starter is doing things that are just. There isn't a defense for the right. Now and look at the Ponce could play. They're going to have to be to win the Super Bowl. Certainly we know the titans are one of them. I don't know how you can contain this offense enough. I think it's Andy Reed's Best Jazz Super Bowl win. I think he would certainly right as legacy with just one Lombardi read his legacy. I hope we can put the graphic up that we had of the trips. That Andy has had Because when you if we can pop opt-out graphic up again when you look at the run Philadelphia like I hope people remember what it's like. I mean he got fired and Philadelphia but like usually one oh two ooh three or four. NFC Champ should his child your you know the rams it was the greatest show on turf thieves dealing with the buccaneers. They they went on to win it that was they were hosted at the vet. The Panthers obviously had to you did and you know you're talking about you know that's Michael Vick era so like but that run. They're just people understand like how good the team was as you. Don't rip off that type of success doing that for that stretch of time if if if your team kind of all the way around offensive. John Played a defensive line. Plays secondary those those teams were loaded age. We can agree that he's one of the better coaches to win a super bowl one in five on championship Sunday. But when you see that list I mean he's been there often. I understand. You're often judged historically by the ones you win. But he's certainly gotten great teams. He's there and he's got another chance whether it be his best or not another opportunity on Sunday. Let's talk about the Texans for just a minute. One pivotal moment in their loss off to the chiefs to second quarter bill. O'Brien dialed up the fake punt fourth and four from their own thirty three. The chiefs sniffed it out. Didn't work three plays later. My score a touchdown. Here's Bill O'Brien on that decision. Filled Life punit too many times today. You know we felt like the we had to try to manufacture some points manufacturers from yards and just didn't work out you know just some we decided to do but Play didn't work. There's no no doubt I mean you might have but there's no doubt I love that man. I'm GonNa play hard for them and then y'all can say whatever I WANNA say. You know through all the media the end of the writing but as long as I'm quarterback he's cool with me again on overreaction Monday. I'll say this. The Texans need to move on from Bill O'Brien Victor. Is that an overreaction. I think it is I think. It is an overreaction. I think when you look at the show I'm watching this maturation process. I think a lot of. That's a credit to bill. O'Brien and the way. He's put that team together the way he's given to Shawn Watson Kinda the the wherewithal to do those things and to be himself and to put plays and put him in positions to be himself. Oh I think that the Shawn Watson we see right now today yes I know. There's a couple of plays that make you scratch your head like the fake punt and like not going for on one of those four downs. Where you feel like does does Shawn Watson should've went over and said Hey let's go for this? Let's get some of that momentum. Let's let's take some of that momentum back from the Kansas City chiefs which once they scored that that first touchdown after being down twenty four zero it almost like it almost felt like the momentum was stripped away from the Houston Texans and to Charlotte. Watson's should have said something to kind of get that back in his favor to his head coach that they that they have such a great rapport with But I don't think it's enough to say we need to run bill. O'Brien out of town. I think they need to continue to burst onto Shawn Watson success and kind of take a year in year two. You agree or disagree I agree. It's an overreaction and I think it's fair to point out some of the decision making that did not go well yesterday the fake punt. We just looked at on video. And there've been some others and it's fair to criticise decision-making for Bill O'Brien. I think it's also fair. The note this that Bill. O'Brien behind the microphone. Publicly has an edge to them right. He's not this super amicable fund loving the kind of guy that the public wins you over in the Court of public opinion. I think that does impact the way that we view coaches in the NFL sports. He's been the head coach for seven years now at least nine games and six of those seven seasons and I'm not trying to be simplistic is Windsor. The only thing that matters but typically that's when I sure do you and they have consistently competed for the division title. I understand they have not made as deep of a playoff run as you would hope they would have made because of their previous blue chip talent on defense offense and now they're young quarterback into Shawn Watson but I think I'd rather ride this out and keep seeing it through for a guy that's really respected within within. NFL circles and the a quarterback went to the mat for me yesterday. I mean Sean. Put His stamp of approval on Bill. O'Brien yesterday and I didn't get the sense in listening to that. That was simply what else. What else am I going to say? Fire The guy right because I felt like that was a more impactful meaning from Shawn Watson the fields point et really good surgeon with a bad bedside manner. It's still a really good. They do so. I think that field alluded to how he's respected in. NFL circles people think he's a good coach. And I think that some of the stuff that he's done in his time in Houston when you think about some of the quarterback situations that he had to deal with prior to getting to Shawn Watson what they've they've done and I think the trajectory that they are on with Sean. I hated the fake punt decision with that being said that's not enough to rip up what they have started to build with him. And so for that reason. I think it would be an overreaction. What are we saying if we wake up today? And they didn't squander great to get a twenty four point lead right then he's going to be different conversation. One that's to point out though is that there are people that still wonder if the alignment in. The Front office is constructed to that. But that hasn't helped tim coach any better. It might be worth them considering being bringing in just hiring a general manager they don't want it again in Texas. Don't have general managers. That's where they stand right now. People will tell you that when you deal with the Texans in trade negotiations etcetera that bill. Bill O'Brien prominently involved which he is but it might help him to have a little bit lesser load on the Personnel Front L.. And one score games this season. The packers are now nine in one including the playoffs. Those nine wins set a new single season franchise record and they're only lost. A one score came came. This season came all the way back in week. Four against the eagles when Aaron Rodgers was picked off on a potential game winning drive. So it's gone pretty well. Aaron Rodgers has exceeded expectations. This season. Victor is that an overreaction. I don't think it is. I think I'm going to go with not an overreaction. I just think that when you came into the League when you came into the season this year are you thinking about matlock floor and you think about how that relationship between him and Aaron Rodgers was going to pan out obviously being so close in age and just figuring out how. Wow this offense was gonna work you kind of have some question marks right especially at receiver though Jordy Nelson. Isn't there anymore. Guys like Randall Cobb Greg Jennings all these different pass catchers Thursday. They had that you kind of go into these games like okay. Yeah Amerada is going to go for three hundred we already know you can just sign it up for three hundred every time you lined up but not this time around not this season so yeah had some question marks going in and he continued to exceed those and obviously he hasn't played his best football this year. We're used to seeing air rogers being being able to throw for three fifty at a at.

"Guests appear via the shell Pennzoil performance line. You know, Jonathan the final four Minneapolis is not the only big event in the sporting world this weekend. Don't you? I do wrestlemainia thirty five which will be covered on ESPN dot com and ESPN radio takes place tomorrow at MetLife stadium in New Jersey. And for the first time ever, it is an all female main event, Jonathan I think it's great. We are one day forty two minutes and now fifteen seconds away from wrestlemainia to in place at MetLife stadium and the main. Event is going to be great because it is the raw women's champion Ronda Rousey, making her crossover from 'em a to the WWE, Becky Lynch. And Charlotte flair who aspect that women's champion? It's great because it's Vince McMahon loves first time ever. And I think the built for this has been great thing about it. Rhonda Rousey comes over from from a and she wins the championship and she's done a great job in her role. Becky Lynch to me is this euros stone cold Steve Austin in that they built her as as someone. That's got a t-shirt says demand. She's called herself the man when you know that she's clearly woman, and but I just love her persona and the same thing with shot at flair because of her lineage being Rick's daughter. I just think that this is going to be great. This will this deserves placement. As the main event, I'm hoping that other matches do not overtake what this may have been going to be a long day, by the way, it's a long. It's not like when you and I are going to the matches Powell what the three hour shows the spring, stampede the. The United Center ninety four no, sir. This is going to be a long long day. It was like wrestlemainia three at the Pontiac Silverdome when early in the card when hillbilly Jim is wrestling, it's light out. Yes. When HOGAN HOGAN and Andre the giant wrestle, and it was pitch black outside, man. You could see through the roof at the Silverdome. Yeah. Back in the day. The WWE has never put a match as a main event that wasn't. It's most popular storyline at the time. So like these three are over. And that's why they're the main event. That's it. I think you know, if you're running a business, and that's what the McMahon's do. They're going to put the match in the main event that the fans want to see the most. And this is what they wanna see and unexcited, and you know, what else because it's wrestlemainia weekend. We have spent all week you, and I and the producers debating like our top five wrestlemainia matches of all time at our top five wrestlemainia intros of all time. I we should we really should unplug. The comrex is and be there right now just plug into some outlet somewhere in New Jersey and just do the show from wrestlemainia does that's where I wanna be next year. They'll be in Tampa next year. And I know, you know, all the spots in Tampa, Florida. There are a few times the NFL road. Yes. Been Minneapolis a few times in the NFL road for ESPN two. Well, it's going to be in Tampa next year. I just love the Bill in what they've been able to do. There's a lot of there's always a complaint about the WWE. And when you're that popular there's always going to be slaves narrows going your way. But even though there might be complaints online about some of these matches and how they built like, for instance, this is going to be allegedly the last match for Kurt angle. He's he has a retirement match here. He takes on baron Corbin and people are complaining about why shouldn't be bearing Corbin point. Is that somehow some way it must be something in my headphones here somehow some way Curtis this a memorable match or somehow they'll make this a memorable match for this. You know, the the the Daniel Bryan is WWE champion to copy Kingston that should be a tremendous match up. So even though there's always complaints is always they always deliver. This thing is bigger than Super Bowl. Now. Can you believe? They're playing football stadiums across the country. And if people from all over the world, come to see wrestlemainia, it's it's quite the spectacle. Jeff it really is. We have a short show tomorrow, but will be on the air tomorrow. And we will be joined by the Dickerson and hood wrestlemainia correspondent the unpaid one James steel, oh is actually covering the event. I don't know if. Yes, PF knows it. But he's there for us at MetLife stadium, and he'll be checking in I do have to chastise James, and he is working so hard today. He has sent so many pictures of themselves next to the dusty Rhodes statue. I know how hard he's working right James loves it. He lives it. However this week when we were all talking on Twitter, the producers and us, and they were listening. They're top five wrestlemainia matches of all time. Now, one of the youngsters had macho man versus steamboat wrestlemainia three. How can that be? That's like one of the greatest matches of all time not just wrestlemainia history of wrestling history. Yeah. I didn't understand that either. As a matter of fact, today's wrestling is reminiscent of what street steamboat and savage did back, then it's just like spot after spot after spot aren't dry take down. On cover the fast action. It kind of stemmed from that match a lot of it. And so it's in my top five, and you know, I'm not necessarily traditional WWE fans. You know, like I liked everything else beside that. But I didn't pick my five, and it just comes to show you that the Bret hitman hearts and the Shawn Michaels the Hogan's the Roxie Austin's, the undertaker's those guys ruled wrestlemainia always had memorable matches. So I I don't understand why steamboats savage a classic match being will not be at someone's five. But hey, you know, it's a generational thing. I think maybe it's because most of your producers were less than five years old back then. I mean, you you love the sports. I would expect you seeing. I mean, I never saw the original Green Bay Packers under Vince Lombardi. But I do realize what they did. And what they accomplished and their contribution to the sports. My fellow producers. You're you're you're you're on the good second worry about a thing. I always negative eight years old when that happened. Doesn't matter. I mean, did you have you have you have video you have the capability to go back and watch it and my right and James watch the first twenty wrestlemanias on his couch to get ready for this big assignment to be articulated hood wrestlemainia correspondent, so it's right there for you to watch. And you choose not to that's what infuriates me tweeted, a union said, it's probably the most underappreciated match of people. It should be under appreciated. It should be appreciated for what it is one of the top five wrestlemainia matches of all time. I nor the silliness usually. Yeah. I know I usually ignore the silliest. They just see it as like, okay? Just move on radio was invented before twenty ten but we're working at it. I like I wouldn't work in radio. It wasn't when I was born knows way before we were. You know, we all this was born. So yeah, we're working in it. Where does the gimmick battle Royal rank? It's a great question. It's a question that I'm not going to answer because we're busier. But I mean, the whole thing to me is that when you look at at this whole wrestlemainia thing man, I never thought it'd be bigger than the Super Bowl. But it is. I don't know how many countries come around from around the world to see the Super Bowl. But certainly do this wrestlemainia, and they have all the different announcers from the different parts of the world. Yes. But but the Super Bowl has that too though. Right. Don't they do? So it just the marketing of it, and what they've been able to do with this has just been better than anything we've ever seen. And I don't know what the ceiling is Ford, but just continues to grow. It's really a lot of fun. Yes. "I'm Doug Brown. Its final four Saturday in Minneapolis. Michigan state is the only one of the four teams that's ever won a national title. But he SPN's Jay Bilas says this is a high quality group. I think we've got really good teams Virginia probably the best team. At least the most consistent at the highest level. I think Michigan state may be playing the best and then both the Texas Tech. And Auburn have been taught I would be shocked to any of the four teams win. But I think the two favorites have to be Virginia. Michigan state's Auburn in Virginia tip off in the first game, Texas Tech and Michigan state in the nightcap announced at the final four today. "Number one right team winning a national title every every year you always feel disrespected and here yet again gonzaga actually does here a lot of this cruz of criticism during the season and it's what you always hear from players and coaches all we don't read this we don't listen of this you may not actively seeking up with you and always gets back you you always hear the other not robots the there these youngsters are on their phones all day like most millennials and how are they going to ignore the stuck to their this incredible at that filters out anything that mentions gordon's acura bulldogs enough course they see it and then it comes out when they win now look at they were facing north carolina and beat them in and they can brady of the chip on the shoulder okay but here they are with a bunch other teams in our goal the final four and you on an annual basis and like i said they were the one seed they were favorite now i understand earlier in the year people dismissed i'm a heard that that's fine but in this back in the if you will today that's not a legitimate gripe it works for them apparently so keep on going on with that like you said depending on who they faced in the final it doesn't seem you know better to this team they will still be going in with that underdog mentality that you mentioned and listen rightly so to what extent i think part of what is is on the national level we talked about this you get some a lazy headlines at certain times for people that aren't as familiar with this good zach a program that see the conference that they play him and how weak it is it and to that point that should be an indictment on the greatness of one particular team just because they might play to week conference doesn't mean that at the same time gonzaga can also be great they are mutually exclusive i when we're talking about the a scc earlier this year sending nine teams of the tournament one clemson was on the bubble like six games under five hundred and conference yes that's maybe when you need to mention the strength and the difficulty of be a scc right but we talk about it in football in alabama wins we talk.

"Is kicking off the right now we've still got final four action here oregon of north carolina underway tied nine nine right now still plenty of time left in the first half we mention gives added going on of the national championship the seventy seven to seventy three when we just heard from south carolina head coach frank martin warm emotional press conference that was right now we've also got some of the players coming off from gives that guy in their pose game will get a reaction for them let's check in with the big man himself are now stew giving us an update on an eye injury that was apparently sustained during that game i go blocked books no pitches put the finger my you know i had the blurred vision a little bit to start i'm i truly open it so i just went to the locker so i don't tour in one of our trainers who known try to take care of it down you know by the time you're going out from the halftime it's our thrown alluded better no two of the whole second harvey was again better and better and i both you and i will listening this game on the radio at that point heard him go out i initially thought this could be some kind of concussion that we're dealing with what back into the locker room at that point to get checked out and it up re entering the game but a huge factor for going sag i'm glad to hear that is not anything head injury related outside of the i and could hopefully deal with that going forward i'm looking at a picture right now on twitter this hurts to look at it as the complexion said it was going up for read out right around the rams so what happens but but guy hats off to games i got they were the better team tonight they've been the better team most of the way as well but they forget the they have one loss forget to the one seed forget that they were favored bite six points tonight the final four they their channeling be well let's face it pun intended the bulldogs are trying to be the underdog.

"The you con women's huskies team in the final four but snapping a hundred eleven game winning streak historic and a lot of ways even for that program let's accustomed to greatness i think in a ninety plus game win streak before this one vic got going and we see mississippi state take them doubt and i guess just the true top question we've been asking all day as does that make you more interested in the women's final coming up tomorrow on sunday what have six pm eastern here does that interest you more now that we've seen a team d for on the power of a tough person asked because i hosted a lot of our women's basketball coverage throughout the course the regular season so i'm going to be watching regardless but let's face it i think you con drew more eyeballs on to the sport by the masses and i think with you combo saying i would say i don't think he the general masses or more inclined to watch tomorrow night's game you know i think he'll be a great game that look if play twice missed a be stayed south carolina it's going to come down the point spread out las vegas is two and a half of three points it'll be competitive but i think the david into life component of last night is what drew the eyeballs and obviously as the game state close the entire way but i think three things are getting overlooked about last night's game one the overtime factor yeah what's it went ot many were people like okay this to be state had its chance you can rally from that have point halftime deficit and they were to restore or the second half did not happen there was the questionable flagrant foul are you con got a gift there were been a lot of controversy will be occupy the air waves with the discussion of whether that flagrant was legit and you cause i'm used to to come back and win it did not and then there was a box possession by the huskies they could help for the final possession of overtime went to early turnover and that's how mississippi state had the ball with a chance to win they should every had a chance now really real you're right por late game management bear on the part of a team that we usually associate with being prepared for every situation except for close games.

"A game earlier in the turn of like north carolina kentucky we saw how well that did tv numbers wise in just a general interest you want to see the best of the best of known commodities both players and coaches going out it's i think you're right north carolina sort of acting as the ward and determine greatness for one of these teams coming up and i'm sure oregon fans will love to hear about that is the pat twelve usually accusing that's so wonderful east coast bias out here but we did kids that again there and be are right with about coast from la on the pack twelve guy so i'm pulling for again but i'm just saying if you take a step away and you assess sort of the feeling of the masses i think i think there's something to be said about going preschool like north carolina to win the tighten up or to get in the final four than one i don't think only a championship with haven't asked returning silly like that but you're right might be careful what you wished for remember the first two days of the termin everyone was complaining well what happened that saturday and sunday we got upsets with a major got wisconsin taken down villain no but we had great games so it's nice to have a middle tennessee state and are the picture run to the sweet sixteen but they're not going final for those types of schools so as much as you want to see those upsets in the first couple week first couple days and they they are exciting trust me i read for them to but that but the back and you get you know the largest points but you had that's eric so he was like seven you've always competitive games even with big time programs yeah upset so i'm upset is not always in the season last a but you know it.

"Good i got to find their we'll see if they can get any sleep leading up to it should be another exciting final four tilt right now is again this one is not about five point lead four games ag a here in the waning moments of the game and i i guess just looking at this weekend as a whole we know we're still wait for this one of tight right now so could be either want and you look at the possibilities now we've had a tournament for the upset fits give us a rather unique final four with outside of north carolina a lot of first time coaches making final four is a couple first time teams showing up in the final four and i ask you doug now which of the combinations we could get in a championship game it would intrigue you the most of create the most interesting match up potentially for the championship on monday i think if you're the draft one of the the you know draft of the four teams remaining in terms of creating the intrigue i think the first one you take you take is is north carolina just because they breached i mean it's such a blue blood and college basketball and you have these top recruits now to not one and done but you have some star players of justin jackson was an all american in the the scc player of the year i think and then thing after that is great in terms of south carolina games i guess so i know can zach is the one seed and i know they're no longer the cinderella like they were ninety nine of the last elite eight to you condon kind of their first time onto the scene but i just think that would sort of be the right of passage for the jags depth to take down and a north carolina program to win its first ever national championship now south carolina miss up to do it that five point game inside a three minutes gamecocks have the ball but i just think either soft i think that cause i think just from that the masses that in you and i are junkies but i think if you didn't or get.
