We definitely we definitely asked to vietnamese american women to be on the pike. Ask very specifically to talk about this show. And i like han when i asked you. I may have been like kind of presumptuous. And that like you know you're you're an entertainment journalist. Who's vietnamese american. I was like. I just assumed that you had watched you like interested and watch watched house of hope when i asked you. I presume that was true that you did and so and so. That's why you're like. Max it is a Reality television series in the vein of all those shows that you that no one wants a care to admit to watch like the cardiac shahs of sunset and The real housewives that genre But it specifically focusing on a very wealthy vietnamese american family in houston Have i covered all the bases. I think pretty much. I mean know we we can say that the the cast of characters is What you might expect for a family drama whether fictional or not set in an asian context right you've got sort of the patriarch matriarch the siblings they all have different dramas individually collectively. They gathered together. Eat a lot basically. This is the nonfiction crazy rich issue. Because that's exactly what what was clearly developed to be right right right. It's definitely created in the wake of the cruiser cheese But that said i mean we've all watched it in varying degrees varying varying number of episodes. I will admit to having watched the first episode and a later episode. That i was told i should watch because it was worth watching and the guys are pretty finished. A lot of it right. Beat amuse people like there are certain type and how the show presented was Surprisingly a a lot. More layered than i thought you know especially particularly when You know you go deeper into the series because at first episode definitely like leaned into like this this like you know american dream poll by the bootstraps model minority and all that jazz and and then it starts off like that and then just breaks it down and just show us like just all the dysfunctions of the family. So you know actually was an keep in mind. I don't really watch. the family. Reality shows is just not my thing. But you know i had to see it. 'cause beat me representation and you know all my worries and concerns
The George Soros Saga: Antisemitism, Conspiracies, and Influence
"Billion-a-year Fillon therapist mega donor George Soros has long been the villain of conspiracy theories. He has also been a target of politicians and pundits on the right who resent his fierce opposition to George W Bush and Donald. Trump, they also object to his philanthropy support of liberal causes support most clearly defined by his mega donations. Earlier this month, the open society foundations, the ill philanthropic group founded by Mr Soros announced it would invest one hundred, fifty million dollars in grants for black lead, racial justice groups, and another seventy million toward local grants for criminal justice reform. The announcement came amid protests in the streets and calls for racial justice sparked by the murder of George. Floyd. Minneapolis those protests, some of which have turned violent have fuelled critics to view those donations as efforts to foment anarchy and back government corruption emily. Tamken. saw these critiques and conspiracy theories already building steam and two thousand sixteen which inspired her to research and write the influence. Of Soros, her latest Book Emily Welcome. Thank you so much for having me on the show so far listeners. Let's take a step back and start with WHO is George Soros not who the conspiracy theorists say he is but who is he really and what causes does he support and why? George. Is a Hungarian born American billionaire he is very influential in three realms the realm of finance, the rubber philanthropy, and the realm of politics in finance. He was a very famous and successful hedge fund manager. He's maybe the most famous and successful currency speculator in the history of finance, and then you know in the nineteen seventies after making a lot of money, he decides to start giving away some of that money to the cause of what he calls open society. The title comes the Name Open Society comes. From this book by Karl. Popper who was Soros's tutor at the London School of Economics and basically the premise of open society and its enemies is that this gross over simplification but basically, the premise is that you know neither you nor I can really know the truth. So what we're supposed to do is all of us together in a society come together and we discuss and debate, and we try to reach this perfect understanding and practice that's meant giving students scholarships. It's meant setting up a university in. It's meant you know after the dissolution of the Eastern Bloc in Suva Union paying for Internet for various government ministries and trying to connect people to information. He's also a big an influential figure in politics beginning in two thousand four. In the United States, he decided that he really wanted George W Bush out of office and became a major political donor. So I think you know I WANNA be careful to make clear that the political spending is separate from thirty but because he's this major philanthropic and also major political donor and because the political donations or not exclusively, but do tend to be four Democrats in liberal causes. I think that that colors the perception of some not just on the right but particularly, some people on the right in the United States. So source is a Hungarian. Jewish emigrant right tell us more about his upbringing and how it informed his philanthropy and political activism nineteen thirty Hungary is the Inter war period between World War One and World War Two prior to World War One Jews in the Hungarian part of the austro-hungarian Empire were more assimilated than many other Jews in Europe. They really saw themselves. Many of them saw themselves as Hungarian were part of the Hungarian national project report of this Lake Glittering Budapest life world we're one happens Hungary is on the losing side they lose a lot of their territory in the tree of and all, which is like the austro-hungarian version of the treaty of Versailles. And for a variety of reasons, the Jews are scapegoated for this. So you have these he's born into this world where you start having a Jewish quotas laws meant to persecute Jews, and this is. Even, before World War Two, his father has them changed their name from shorts to Soros to seem less obviously Jewish in this increasingly hostile environment his father had previously like escaped. Prison camp in Siberia during World War, one and made his way back to Hungary during the Russian civil war. So he knew something about survival. World to comes and there's there's not the occupation and there's the Arrow Cross which is like the Hungarian variant. He sees his father as this great protective figure who helped other people the father. was procured bull forged embargo documents of the Soros family and friends in front of friends could hide out is Christians during during the time, but he also he's persecuted for being Jewish he then after world, War Two is living under a certainly not the same kind of persecution but under a repressive oppressive socialist regime and I think that this is two things one, it makes this concept of society where we can all debate and discuss very attractive and I also think that for him because he was persecuted on the basis of his ethnicity religion. That inspired in him. The understanding that it was important to try to help whatever group was caught under the wheel at a given moment with this history and background in mind. IS IT ANTI Semitic to criticize Mr Soros and the causes he supports I'm not saying the criticizing Soros is. Anti Semitic I think he's done things that you can criticise part of the reason that I wrote this book is that it should be what he is actually done and the money that he's actually spent not money that he has never spent and thinks he has never going to do that to me is when it trips over into in antisemitic conspiratorial.

CBS News announces anchor changes at "CBS This Morning," "CBS Evening News"
"Morning. There is a shakeup underway at CBS news this morning. The network announced major changes to its flagship shows this Gayle king on CBS this morning. We are announcing some major changes today moving forward working to get even better at what we do. Those major changes come amid ratings concerns for CBS this morning and also for the CBS evening news. And also after a series of harassment revelations rocked this network in recent years joining us now with more NPR media correspondent David Folkenflik morning. David. Hey, do to what is happening CBS. And why why is it happening now? So let's first talk about what's happening. You're going to see Nora O'Donnell, leave CBS this morning. It's that's their their morning news show, and she's going to become the anchor of CBS evening news. You know, the newscast once host by Dan rather on kites storage show. She's replacing Jeff glor- who's been there less. Than eighteen months. You're going to see a little bit of rotating chairs happening on the morning show. She is doing that John Dickerson's going to leave the morning show and the coin correspondent for a sixty minutes. And you're going to see the remaining this show built around. Gayle king who's been there who's really a sword in recent years, but particularly even in the last year landing a bunch of news making interviews, including a memorable one with our Kelly's been accused of so many crimes memorable interview to say the least. Yeah, really intense and really brilliantly handled by king, and she'll be joined by Anthony Mason longtime Saturday morning show host. He's been a longtime evening news anchor Fillon at a correspondent for the network. Anthony Mason, we'll also be joined by a twenty dokoupil a correspondent for for the network, and those those figures will be rotating in and around these these major programs, and what about the timing is is there something. Significant that CBS is going through all the shuffling at this moment. What does it tell us will even seeing a lot of coverage in a lot of rumors and speculation about what was going to happen? CBS had won some audience and also gotten a lot of morale boost by pursuing harder news edge for its morning show and for the evening news, and yet ratings had sagged in recent years, Jeff chlorine, some ways was expected to be the solution. He replaced got Pelley after Kelly's ratings after initial boost had had declined and there've been some tension between Pelley, the former anchor and former CBS news president David Rhodes glare was supposed to solve onto this under under roads and had not done. So and there've been a question of what's going to happen to pairing of John Dickerson, quite brilliant. Former moderator of face the nation had not had the same level of success as the morning show. It had under Charlie rose. And so they said something's going to happen. Too risky was named at the beginning of the year to shake things up in the shakeup was hers. So is. Is it just about ratings or how much of this has to do with the the sexual harassment scandals that we've seen this network through? Well, you seen a network. The network rocked by sexual harassment scandal from the top les Moonves, the chairman of CBS the entire parent network Inc. As well as Jeff Fager, the former chairman of CBS news in the longtime executive producer, sixty minutes, which is far and away in some ways, the most important show, certainly money maker for CBS CBS evening news CBS this morning. Have sort of been perennial third rated shows Charlie Rose's departure from CBS this morning in late twenty seven teen really rocked the chemistry and rock the stability of CBS news, but they had hoped to Dickerson could stabilize that. This sentence is the latest domino to fall from that. They want to stabilize the show want to stabilize the network insurance scheme particularly wants to show it's hers, and she's going to find a path forward for CBS. All right. Big changes today at

"That exchange with fake news. Jim Acosta where will we go to the media party? And I saw costume front of us. I was going to go introduce myself. But then somebody grabbed my attention, Jimmy what's up. How's fake news? They just watch him buzzed. But you know, what you were very very nice to fake news when we were over in Europe during the Russia summit. Yeah. What did I do? And we were in Finland. Our entire you guys were eating reindeer. You know? I wasn't okay. A lot of people that table and some of them. I don't eat Rudolph raw Rudolph Rudolph. Yeah. Well, it's a staple in Fillon. Reindeer you didn't have any. I I did not have. Well, you Mr. outdoorsman didn't have any role. Rudol didn't want any raw Rudolph. I wanted ROY cow. That's you know, wasn't raw, but medium rare. Perfect. What were you gonna say sunshine? I'm sorry. You ready for me? I'm ready for you. Yes. People interrupting me. So what are you taking the Christmas tech guy? First of all, it's red white and blue themed. It's america. It's patriotism all day long. And it's on my side of the glass. Okay. What did you want to say? So I was going to say that even though they have been so horrible to so many of us on the right and our tables were side by side. I'm sorry. Okay. No. I remember now was I talking tell us. Time. Impossible or I get to the point. I would accept that. It takes me five minutes a digression because you won't stop talking over me. So you did something very nice. And you bought that table lots of wine to care some of their Bill. You're very sweet. Spite the fact, I do that all the time that they're not very nice enrolled there is and you were over. Hi. How are you? So gracious. I was like, wow. It's not personal for me. The fact that they're horrible. Their job is not personal for me. You've decided to agree to disagree and not make it personal. It's not anybody that takes shots of me. I don't care. It's not personal. Some people. I there are some people. I really don't like like Jimmy Kimmel. I just think is a jackass. And by I don't like that he attacks women, especially Milania who speaks English as her fifth language, and he's mocking her reading a book to kids, which I think is just, you know, just a it's just a pathetic cheap shot, and what we forced them to apologize. And I would get that fight in two seconds again. And just keep hash tagging Disney. Hashtag Disney hashtag Disney hashtag by Bob idir. And make sure that you know, his bosses are aware what a jackass is. But you know, I don't want. I'm not in the business of trying to get people fired. But I was making a pretty good point there when we have fights with. I think I was fighting with Bette midler one time when I used to fight on Twitter, right? And a bunch of other people. I don't care about them. I I don't want them to like me. You know, when I go I don't go to those events. I've never been to a White House correspondents dinner. I only went to one Christmas party. During the Bush years, and I was invited to go this year. It was never invited during the Obama years, and I never wanted to go. And I honestly I don't think I really wanted to interview Obama because they give you fifteen minutes, you get three questions he filibusters and every time you try to interrupt them. Everyone says your route. So it's you have to respect the office. So it becomes a pretty impossible task to do it in a respectful way for especially for somebody like me. And I've got I've got a lot of questions for him. I need a couple of hours. I'd love to have a Cossio Cortez. Come on the program. Have you called her office yet? Figure if she's not willing to debate anybody she she was tweeting out about me last night. I know I know so on you know, they're merely incidental. What really matters is your moral ground facts are just a sidebar to you know, how you feel in your heart. So that's what she's saying. And this is going to become a look the civil war that is brewing within the Democratic Party. All the talk is about discord within Republican ranks because of Donald Trump style. It's not about policy most Republicans support tax cuts Republicans like the job creation. We now have nearly five million new jobs since this man's been elected president record low unemployment for people that have been left behind. We always called it. The forgotten men and women Hispanic Americans. Asian Americans women in the workplace African-Americans our vets are getting back to work in greater numbers than we've seen in decades youth unemployment is at a sixty five year low. This is all opportunities for the American people. And I'll tell you those that are skittish on the stock market. That's fine. I'm not a big stock market guy. But that's not impacting most Americans. I mean, most people have a 4._0._1._K, but it's not money you're gonna need in the next ten years. And you don't have to worry about it. If it's money you need in the near future. It shouldn't be in the stock market. You should have it in something a lot safer. Maybe you're only grow into three or four percent a year. But the bottom line is way too. We get the pipelines online way, we get the equipment. In Anwar, and we start drilling their way to we really start digging down and extracting all the natural gas that we have we're going to where we are literally on the precipice if we do this,.

What you're saying boxes? More entertaining box. That says IAMS us next pot. He just he just I mean, there's nothing there. There's not. There's another and then fills kinda laboring to try, and then how can we talk about the elephant in the room fill so out of shape tiger. So in shape. I can walk briskly down the fairway and fill it try to keep up with them because they're both miked up. You can hear me. Oh, no, the heavy panting. You know, he made fun of himself that way he wound up winning the damn thing one. But you know, they wound up playing this whole late getting Dr. Wrap this up and neither guy played. Well, you know, it was like it was just kinda on flat for the most part. But I have to say there was an army of people out there that paid the twenty bucks at didn't wanna hear it. Because I sent out a tweet I said, I see Fillon tiger is still playing are they gonna play until it gets dark until someone cares. Oh, and all these people came out of the man, how dare you? Yeah. Yeah. Denigrate condescending, attitude. This is it listen if it was free. College football on Friday. I was so good games on really watchos games. Instead of watching that thing and it turned out to be free. So when it was free, I watch now that happen. That you weren't gonna pay. Oh, not gonna pay nobody paid for it. And they just said there was a quote glitch. And they did the same Ortiz fight that was supposed to be like thirty bucks slash. The black Friday sale. Oh, man. So there you go. "It was somebody that they were targeting somebody to that would get more looks. But it hasn't translated into production. Just yet. The patriots went to Nashville. Film looks terrible against the titans. They looked just brutal. Thirty four to ten was the final. I think it was honestly not that close. But it wasn't as close as the score indicates at thirty four to ten. Here's the question and the patriots head into their buy in this crazy as this may seem Tom Brady the greatest quarterback to ever play football. Could if you need a quarterback Fillon. Could you make Tom Brady the expendable part for week twelve weekly? Yes. Yes. You can we talked about this last week? In fact, I'm kind of upset we into a sock bet on Tom Brady because I was not feeling him at all week item. I think in our out of Loic super low. Yeah. That he's finished sixteenth or worse quarterback in sixty percent of his outings this season. He is he's been brutal. It's it's really been a struggle. And now you mentioned they have a buy week. Here's the schedule after that at the jets versus the Vikings at Miami at Pittsburgh vs buffalo versus the jets a lot of decent defenses. I know the jets got blown up yesterday. But overall they've been halfway decent. The bills are very good. Obviously Miami's been better-than-expected Minnesota's good in. Those are even when Brady was going great. Those are games that have occasionally why we've seen we've seen Brady struggle on the road at the jets. We've seen Brady struggle on the road at Miami comparatively to what Brady was at whatever level. He was in those years. You know, so yeah, I mean as crazy as that sounds like, I'm not advocate. Drop Tom Brady. But I'm not looking at you weird. If you do it, and I'm probably not if I'm in a league where some somebody drops Tom Brady, I'm not running to pick him up. You know, like like let me go grab them in that can stash them for when he comes back because he's just he hasn't been a great fantasy quarterback here in as they've been able to establish the run I mean, Sony Michelle didn't do much in this game. But for the while they're they were running the ball really effective or not going to be talking about by week fill ins that much longer. It's going to be matchup dependent options here. Sure, Tom Brady may be a matchup dependence starter for the rest of the season in a lot of leaks. Given it it's going to be on a by and drops by many people sorting Michelle returned yesterday eleven carries for thirty one yards. I thought this was about what we should expect to see from Sony Michelle in terms of total number of snaps played. And I would imagine coming out of the by that it will look a lot closer in terms of workload. And hopefully production to what we saw with him and James white in those three or so games where they were running really well today. Either. Yeah. You would think so he handled eleven of the sixteen carries by their running backs including Cordell Patterson is running back in yesterday's game. But no targets and he only four targets this season only snaps in this game. So there's obviously room for him to play a larger role game script will be better most of the time for this offense. But you know, I just worry about him being capped a little bit by obviously James White's presence, but obvious or also the fact that he's doing nothing as a receiver. That's a bit of a problem, and it has been all season long one last bookmark note Rex Burkhead returned to practice past week..

"Scylla and is Ana, the two other lapham girls end up like becoming wards of the lights. Talk about the two of them. Yeah, I know that we're running. Oh, that's okay. Because I want to say like this idea of Johnny self worth and his ark of like, is it something that I earned? Is it something that I made or is it something that I can like go and dislike? Cash and later I think the revolution and when he becomes radicalized by RAB or radicalized, he kind of finds himself in the revolution right? But this real, his relationship with the lights is this other like detour. I like how you're trying to continue your gas that is his shirt. His status as a member of this family is a thing that he alternately chooses to reject as part of his like self worth, but likely won't have partly because he wants to. Yeah, because like you want to bring up the two other girls, Natasha, because I think that is a whole other wrinkle to like what the lights do in this community and like what it is to to like shift classes or whatever right there is like I have serious team Jani tendencies, but there is a moment with him and these girls like it's slow Bill to what's going on with the two of them. But he has a crush on Fillon that works out because they were supposed to get married. So it's a very like things have worked out for him and he hadn't heard his hand. Here he would have married the person that he wanted to be marrying, and it feels like she would have been happy to marry him. But there's this girl is Ana, who is the baby of family in very delicate and extremely pretty and loves attention. And he's really good at cultivating attention to get things and like. You know, to degree that's just being child like, that's fine, you know. But there comes a point finally, where the Lavinia light who is like the richest woman in the community. I think she is. She spots is Ana and decides that this is like a beautiful charming child, and I'm taking her under my wing and Cilla can come with me if she wants, but she's going to be the lady's maid while is on is going.
