"Mean i've never i've never i mean i've heard of it before i have some problems. Gene simmons famously put ice cubes in cereal. That it's monsters like i no offense to blake. Sure your father is a fine person but The idea that i would bite down and expect the satisfying crunches some grape nuts or spiderman frosted checks pieces and would just get a bit of pig crenshaw on ice. It sets edged just thinking about it. Yeah this is definitely something. For the more densely sound like my own sensitive molars but yeah every time i hear about this method. I simply can't envision it being satisfying just for me. It's more the very thought of watering down. My cereal any capacity. That just doesn't sit right. Sure you now if you had say milk cubes or if you like pre chilled your bowl of milk in the freezer that being perhaps the only instance whereas acceptable to do milk before cereal. Then maybe i could see it. I've certainly done a ladder on a hot summer's eve before because kind of like freezing pop tart giving it a unique twist to the flavor but using actual ice cubes for one thing. They're pretty big compared to any actual cereal piece. And i know i think i think we just hit on. All the other elements it'd be a bit inconsistent in and how it distributes the chill effect and the dilution soggy nece. There's just way too many working variables there for for this to work for my very standardized ritualistic. Serial leading routine misses an included here. Dan but i did have an exciting amounts of ood. And i think. I've teased this before but i am Officially now off of dairy milk for cereal. Yeah i've tried a lot of different options. But i finally tried Coconut milk lily with my cereal and it is just such a wonderful compliment. A really truly delicious. I've never. I've tried several different milk. Sort of you know Substitutes in are found one that really resonated with me but coconut milk. I'm understand i mean. I don't think i've really tried coconut milk and cereal. Does it bring a cocoa nuttiness to anything of vague one. It's more like a. There's like hint of creamy nece to that. You don't necessarily get with your own in your hip near soy in your in your p. milks but it's not like a strong coconut flavor. Saw tip the scales. "It's fairly pink like you get the idea that it is pink But it doesn't have that sort of like ethereal Ethereal glow that the dishes. one zero. How did you make treats with them. Yeah now i didn't. Pepe f- shaped marshmallow. Like i feel like it'd be very very very good by it would be definitely a a like perfect sort of like encapsulation of the The character and the the amp up a little bit to make it feel a little bit more special because it does feel a bit tacked on Brand wise it just feels like kinda like these are paying comparing pigs brings so was this guy with it so that's a little bit of. It'd be nice to have up a little bit but not bad Nice now dan. We're looking to the future there. But let's let's take over to appreciate the present. You know. Of course. we're got them from as well as west virginia So i have to wonder whether targeted specifically toward your ni- but these are described as a lineup of la taste that planned espresso with cereal milk made with real cereal for authentic bottom of the bowl. Goodness topped with sweet cold foam offer the ice burien which i did get of course as well as serial crumbled on top as well and you get to choices with these. You could pick a cinnamon cereal. Milk law with cinnamon crumble on top or marshmallow cereal milk with rainbow crumble on top. Now i sprung for the cinnamon figuring that marshmallow is a little too subtle tastes. Maybe especially when there's going to be sweet foam on top already. Tough one the nail cotton candy where the physics of the thing. I think apart literally Boy i quickly found myself wishing for maybe the more subtle. -ness of a marsh Cereal milk because this lot was painfully like tongue. Ringingly cinema mini in first off. It's nothing like any cinnamon cereal that i've ever had before let alone the sugary goodness of cinnamon toast crunch. Rather the cinnamon here is like drinking. A freshly liquefied cinnamon clove yankee candle and the thickness of it. The rob viscosity is certainly impressive. But other than that. I could not bring myself to finish mine nor was i willing to try really because apparently the cereal milk that they use in these is a proprietary fully fused pre shipped and sealed. Sort of deal. So you can't. I don't think this law dairy free meaning. I as someone who is moderately lactose intolerant wasn't about to unleash a storm in my stomach over something that already tasted quite not good. So maybe the marshmallow would be better Someone else might have to let us know how that is. But i will say unless. You're a bona fide. Hot tamale sucking cinnamon maniac. I would pass this one now. I mean when i was first trying to write down my thoughts i felt like i was writing one of those cosmic horror stories where it feels like a cop out to say that something is beyond the bounds of imagination. Comprehension iraq. my taste buds good and proper with this one but still had trouble articulating. Exactly what that weird note is. I will agree. That it's not exactly on point with the original glazed crispy cream donuts that is supposed to be based on but i did kind of feel like this is a more like literally accurate donut cereal than most of the ones that get put out there. That is to say that it kind of feels like these chunky. Little rings are actually fried. Like i was feeling like. I was getting under funnel cake. Plus you said tang. But in my mind i wrote an intriguing twang of like sour cream or yogurt. Maybe it's exactly it's unique. It's striking and it is pretty darn good but the problem for me was the. It's very flash in the grease pan flavor. That doesn't necessarily last the duration each spoonful like before you know it. The twang has been tong. And you're just this. And they corn cereal ring. And i hate to be that guy even though i so often am but i think a tweak to the base grain could have gone a long way or maybe even just dusting some flavor on to give it more potency and more of a pillowy mouth feel so maybe adapt this one for american shelves and take are extremely specific feedback to heart but either way this is seems highly memorable one if nothing else. Yeah yeah i i. It's it's interesting. It's not necessarily tropical loops for the first time the original like i was. I think i was telling me. Like go to the mickey mutating. I personally love love love. The bread sliced pieces and secretly wish. Every toast crunch used them. Hair real green apple sort of Synthetic appleans but other people use a little more fairly. So we'll see how it there was the special case cinnamon apple seasonal variant. That i think was really really stellar. So hopefully we'll be somewhere around that sphere. What i do think is interesting. Is that you know though. I typically think of apple pie as a distinctly autumnal desert. This apple pie toast. Crunch box is covered with winter. Rebranding squares are all in their hats and scarves and on the back. You can see them with christmas lights. Mistletoe ski goggles et cetera. And the seasonal turn at. I had me worried that apple pie toast crunch might replace sugar cookie toast crunch which is sort of one of the founding cornerstone cereals of this podcast hype machine that living cereal legend still appears on the cinnamon toast crunch website so it appears to be safe for now without it would probably make a good mix in for apple pie toast crunch as well sure. Now i don't know from reading this right dan but it looks like A product that is flavored like fruity. Pebbles has been released. I know it's hard to believe. But part of this fiftieth anniversary pebbles palooza or funston fest or jaba dabbagh jamboree. Whatever you wanna call it. There's really been no end to the new pedals products that have been released in the past year. We've had candy bars. Chocolate bunnies cake mix and even like the beauty products that we mentioned last episode. Yeah and the party still rolling because next up our pebbles bites and these come. These are coming in both fruity and cocoa varieties of course and they are essentially little clusters of the respective cereal. Rice crisps just coated with milk. Chocolate for the cocoa and with that sort of nebulous creamy. Candy white stuff for fruit i'm sure he's probably be pretty good as well. It just seems that. They're a little small and weirdly individually wrapped as well. Like sort of how i feel about hershey kisses that you really expect me to disassemble this whole foil and streamer deal which will take me longer than it will eat the thing so it i was sent of these by the frankfurt folks already. Geez they sent some of these About a week ago I will say my very quick view. Is that You your take on it being too much and rapid absolutely point. I mean even like even the hershey kiss that you mentioned has a system in place you know. It's gonna pull tab great that makes it easier. These are kind of a pain to eat once i get them open them. Pretty nice Flavor pretty good size of of treat. I just wish that they were I wish they weren't individually route. I will say this. This is my view the Free version i sent a few with My daughter's lunch to school when she got back. She informed me that she needed to take fifteen of them into into classes next because they were such a such a big hit so Good i didn't you know it's it's just too much. I why. I don't like a lot of sweet things that are not cereal. You know insularity But i just wish they weren't individually wrapped or th-the wrapping came off easier or something because they are kind of a pain. what's what size. Comey's candy canes and rebooted cereal straws. So i wonder if there's no contention between them maybe or maybe they're just trying to make it in this you. I not dan. I've tried this next one two. So i'm pretty. This just happened to be at my local local walmart. Think moves target. I don't remember exactly. But i definitely had a big big old box zing head of the game. But yeah we're gonna talk about pepe. Pig rice krispies. The crossover of a lifetime if not multiple lifetimes and these are you know not too different. At least it appears you'll correct me. If i'm wrong from normal rice krispies except that there are mixed in with the plain rice krispies. The addition of special frosted pink krispies as. Now eighty he and jenny married. Fifty seven years are joined the family dealing with aging in harvesting the fruits of their labor. Bruce thank you so much for joining us pleasure to be here great beer. Thanks for having us so our listeners. Have just for your bios. And i'm sure they're really love to hear the stories of your retirement. Our definition retirement is which is a new definition. Is when you have control your own schedule. When you're not at the being controlled by somebody else and you can really how to retire. A number of times retire. Go back under control. And then go out. And i i'm recidivist. I retired number types. The first time retired was in one thousand nine hundred ninety five. I was still by chief of staff in the senate and just was time for me to get out and retire. And i was still working sixty hours a week. When i was controlling chief thing i was controlling went on schedule that lasted for a number years until two thousand eight. When joe biden got picked and was elected vice president is states. And the governor are state. Ruth delaware ruben. Minner asked me to replace in the senate and finished his term which i did but was clearly not a retirement job in two thousand ten. I returned to retirement and lasted for ten years. And then i can joe pye. He was a presidential candidate this before. He's actually picked which have to start on this. He asked me to head up his presidential transition. And i did that for about eight nine months until january twentieth. Twenty twenty one when he was inaugurated and i returned to retirement and i made a pledge. I'm here in retirement. Stay bruce will see. My story was like ted. I'm a recidivist. I bed three tries. I think i've got it this time. My first shot was in. I was fifty two years old. I've been going flat out new york for years. We bought a an escape place and vermont to fund farm and outside of middlebury vermont and two recombination circumstances. We decided that we'd like to live in vermont. So this coincident with the time that my principal client. The chairman of the stock exchange was retiring. We had a gentlemen's agreement. I wouldn't retire before he did. He retired so i decided i was going to move to vermont. That lasted six months. I discovered in the six months that two things one is. That one of my real motivation was i needed to do something that had tangible work where there was an end product the end of the day and the other thing i discovered was the basically. I just needed a sabbatical. So that when the next chairman of the stock exchange called and said quote trump the rocks and get down here back in new york. I kept at it with the exchange and with their check subsidiaries until the end of two thousand and two. I was then sixty three. I decided that. I'd after the adventures of two thousand and one and the fact that i was actually nearing retirement and that my ninety year old parents had just decided to relocate from florida to vermont. Because my mother said she wasn't gonna die in a flat place so we had new responsibilities in vermont but the funny part about that was that i gave up all the new york activities of my consulting practice but along the way i'd gotten very involved in community activities here in vermont startups whole bunch of things. And so all. I did was change. Venue i failed. Ted's test of having control of my schedule. We're all these other demand that lasted for sixteen years. And when i was seventy nine that's three years ago. I sold the property in middlebury. That was the anchor the stoorikhel anchor got out of all the kennedy activities light and now i'm retired. Who was one little rankled because my partner lifelong friend and co author and taken this other gig in if for the highest severe states and in the midst of our book writing so i had a couple of intense months learning how to write a book. That ted and i have been constructing and organized and doing everything for until he had to go duty. Did that was an easy call to his work. Took priority so anyway. I'm think i'm retired today. A great story in book about what it was like to come from new york. I worked there for thirty years as well and to vermont. What was the feedback from vermont. The feedback from vermont works. Were a town of under fifteen hundred people. Outside of college found a very rural agrarian vermont in the enormous advantage. We had was that when we bought this house we do. We wanted to do a lot of work on it. We put together a great crew and they worked alongside of us in the house. Now these were all people that were well connected in the community and what happened was that we got along well with that. They got along well with us. So the word got out in the community the people from new york there okay so that was an opening to all sorts of things. I got drafted to take over the school board of another story but the transition the the cultural adjustment from new york living in in new york and then moving into the small bill was fascinated. It was never stressful. It was more often humorous than it was disruptive and i vividly recall flying back and forth from burlington to new york city. When i was still going back. I'd get off the plane on friday afternoon at two o'clock in full battle dress it in the car and i'd start down route one sixteen and i knew when i got to north fairus bird. That is gonna have to stop. Because that was coincident with a time of dairy farmer brought his heard from the field to the barn for milking. And i decide stop. I'd take my tie off my jackets in the backseat and honest-to-goodness. In about fifteen minutes the cultural adjustment was over. It's been wonderful. We love it here. It's great so. I've read that you've noticed. Some unhappiness among friends and acquaintances. Who were retiring really. Lead you to collaborate on spunk. What did you notice what was behind your friends. Unhappiness simply put antagonized sorted this out over endless cups of coffee. Little burger king and florida over the years. It was their failure to plan. That was a synthesis of all the anecdotes every single one of these people in our acquaintanceship than the stories we secondhand stories we heard none of them had financial distress. They all have varying degrees. I'm some were filthy rich and some were just very comfortable. They all figured out.

They started watching for the first time months ago after doing full rewatching the first three seasons but they kind of fell out of the building in frontiers interesting bought. They're not a huge fan of most of the characters. And know in advance the characters i do gonna be sidelined and the show traits of famous character so incredibly pulley and yes totally agree and via. It'll definitely finished. We watching it. This knowledge brings me. Joy doesn't anything could he was there. He was there. And i remember that that episode was good. I liked that episode. I like that a lot. quinn who is your favorite put. Kill the so touchy. Feely touchy here. And for how ratings. I gave this episode to it would have been more if just like the second half of the episode. Didn't kinda feel off and then arguments struggle being something with sort of sane before and this felt kind of weed and also the fact. That of touchy was actually there the entire time that looking completely different just kind of leads me out so i i gave it a two but it's still a fine episode but so it's like it's an okay too but it's still not. I still didn't enjoy this episode as much as i could have. And i have a few complaints about which i mentioned by two out of five So easy what you're writing. I'm going to give it a one point.
