"Emma way recorded that audio for us. Hi emma emma. What are the owners of prices. Say about why they were closing. Well they cited a lot of reasons. The labor shortage was definitely one there was also the increase in cost of food and then there was the coin shortage there in all cash establishment. So that was obviously a big challenge that they had had. We just heard audio of their last day. What else was the mood like. It was like a block party charlotte. There were thousands of people. I think that there were probably thousands. Over the few days people drove miles. One person drove four hundred miles from florida to make it there. I had one reader that reached out saying they were trying to get a standby flight to charlotte just to get one last box of fried chicken. How much does what happened at prices mirror. What's happening in other cities and towns across the country right now. Yeah amir's it a lot. The pandemic has hit these mom and pop shops especially hard The national restaurant association said that of restaurants that closed during twenty twenty in the middle of the pandemic the majority word these sort of longstanding businesses. That meant a lot to communities. Prices had been around for fifty nine years. It's its owners were really experienced and It it's sad to lose those types of places that means so much in a community. I look at the future of the dining scene in charlotte and in cities. All around the world take fried chicken. For example they opened this new trendy spot and they say authentic fried chicken southern fried chicken and what. They're basing it off of places like prices without places like prices those restaurants. They probably won't be as good. They won't have that authentic And i think we're seeing that as as we lose more mom and pop places not just because of the pandemic but but overall We're losing some of that character in communities in charlotte and elsewhere xia charlotte editor. Emma thank them thanks nyla. We.

The very first time that i went and i i still lived in mississippi then and i had my sister take care of them and i think i know i didn't leave them any other time i took with me. You've seen how attached they are to me. Yeah can you imagine what rainbow would do with me. Being gone for a two week period lost his dinner for the one. That hides usually. Because i haven't i don't think of ever seen in my think of only seen rainbow. Their personalities have swapped over the last two years. He used to be the really adventurous. He would have been the one out here. Introducing himself to every in the camera at rainbow would have been hiding at the top of the stairs. Because that's what i remembered. But you told me that this one was rainbow. And she's been like over here sniffing me rubbing on my legs and stuff. Yeah pretty much says bad. Movie club started and there were people coming over here. Just regularly rainbow started becoming more and more friendly and dinner just sort of takes a lot longer before he is willing to come out. He did pop out. He popped his head out tonight or monday night. Just for a moment but yeah rainbow she. She's like this is. I'm on the show. i'm famous kitty. She talks. That's what i love most of us. You just says her my lap talking with us you. Can you feel her purring. Yes says she. Yeah she purrs cost only. That's great but yeah. I couldn't lead them here for two weeks but anyway yeah forecast is coming up and i can't wait to join us come to forecast. It'll be great absolutely. We're going to be doing the show there. There's all sorts of events. You were talking about last year. There were strippers i. There will be strippers there on the dock. Yeah they're scheduled for him very cool stuff interesting stuff not necessarily cool eight having none funding her gambling addiction by evidently. She wasn't very good at gambling because she had to routinely still tuition from the school that she was over ten years. The catholic school in california. She's still thirty five thousand dollars. That is what is super porsche. How many kids tuition does that cover. I don't know it just said between tuition and donations says cooper who took vows of poverty at age. Eighteen and spent fifty nine years in the religious order. Said her plea agreement that she had begun. Diverting money from the schools tuition and donation accounts to savings accounts that funded the living expenses of the nuns. Who worked at the school and then you some of the money for herself. According to prosecutors creeper admitted that she falsified monthly and annual reports to the school administration to cover up her fraudulent conduct and lulled saint james school and the administration into believing that the schools finances were being poorly accounted for and its financial assets properly. Safeguarded was in turn allowed defendant grouper to maintain her access and control the schools finances and accounts and thus continue operating her fraudulent scheme in a statement to the washington. Post kruger's lawyer said. She has very remorseful and sorry for any harm. She has caused as soon as she was confronted. She accepted for responsibility for what she had done. And she has cooperated completely with the law enforcement and the arch. What is that arch design. Yes thank you. What confuses me about this is that forgiveness is the mantra of christianity. Or at least it's supposed to be if you catch someone doing something wrong. You're supposed to forgive them. Prosecute right yeah but it sounds like the catholic church here did not forgive the nun and chose instead to punish her. Where christ himself said. Don't forgive someone seven times. Forget them seventy seven times seven times well. That's it for me but forgiving someone once. I'm okay with that. Is true that jesus said that. But the catholics. Do you believe in confession in. It doesn't seem like she confessed. Sounds like she did it for ten years and didn't feel remorse until she got caught so well it says that she was suffering from a mental illness that clouded her judgment museum thought it her gambling ability. She wasn't very good. That mental illness got to her. You would think that you know once she embezzled. The i eighty thousand dollars. If she was even halfway decent. She could at least coast that out for a long time. No she was really getting into it. Well it said she also used the money to help for the nuns like hell paper expenses for the nuns at the school thing so i shouldn't use all of it for gambling like that should have been included as in the in the tuition. Anyway as my. Hey we're going to. We're going to pay for the coffee that the nuns required to not smack you kids around at eight o'clock in the morning while you're being rambunctious and their seventy years old and is a retired none. How do you retire from being a nun. Well that does as at seventy nine seventy nine years old. Yeah i signed up at eighteen. Now i can go have some sex. Oh my god. it's awful. I didn't think about that. Initially but what in the world is they. Just okay. i'm done. I did my service fifty nine years. God is good. I joined the nunnery. Eighteen eighteen took the vows of poverty. Whatever it was eighteen years old for fifty nine years. She did it. Talk about throwing your life away says that the scheme was uncovered during an audit after kruger. Retired in two thousand eighteen. Prosecutors said that she had also a school employees to alter and destroy. Financial records creeper is due in court on july first and faces up to forty years in federal prison. She did not gonna live forty years. Yeah so why are they gonna fate schwab facing forty years so she is seventy nine. She's probably not gonna live tenure if she's lucky she's retired now. It's not so you look at it. It's the it's the lightning it is it is it is so what is this bracket here that i'm looking. I don't know what you're looking at. But the way the brackets are they're not connected with the on. It's why they just go here to here so it would be the lighting. Yeah that would be confusing. Well it should be that because that would be weird if they were playing the west in the conference final. Bright the bazaar so it would have to be. Arabia islanders lightning if they win right. That's swimming as the lightning. Be the co to what's going to happen. All it takes is one injury here. There and this is what's happened to boston. Obviously about the whole thing and this is not sports. But i saw tony. Catan died fifty nine years old. Wow only fifty nine and there was no matter. How terrible is any of them doing that. Whole thing no there was no cause given in story i read i guess. Fifty nine fifty nine. Yeah you kind of want to know. Yeah i always find myself guilty of that. I try not to do that. War what you read the oba. You kinda wonder like y. You're so said each morning show with boomer esiason in gregg giannotti boomer and geo be on mosques. Saturday night live which had a ton of controversy leading up to it and enduring it and after it. One of the most bizarre situations than i think i've ever seen when it comes to a sketch. Comedy show where there was a crypto currency that was severely affected by his performance on the show so he was not any good and he also in one of the sketches cold a hustle and then the price dropped from about sixty five cents at the beginning of the show. All the way down to about forty one cents. It has rebounded since then. But i mean i never in my life thought that i would ever see a man who builds rockets and electric cars hosting a sketch comedy show. Who is a big backer of a crypto currency bomb on said sketch comedy show which then in turn sent that crypto currency down into the toilet. But that's what happened so there you go elon. Musk doj coin. I'm not in on doj going. I'm not saying that people are against it. I just because i was that all the coin stuff going on kind of stuck with dad and then doj coin was getting popular right around the time i was buying a house and i kind of ignored it and then it went all the way up through the roof and i felt like i was too late on and i don't know what the hell i know jerry's got a little bit of it. I don't know. did you buy some of that. There was well. Yes i bought it when it was two cents. But i didn't buy a tone of what he brought him was two cents. Yeah wow yeah. Got up to seventy five cents. At one point. I was excited. I was hoping hit a dollar. And then you get out. Then i would get out at a dollar but get out at a dollar just hanging on the other interesting thing about moscow's revealed that he has asperger's. Wow yeah those in his monologue right. That's right and i guess. I don't know the dan ackroyd have a asperger's i'm not sure explains his brilliance about it. Yeah and like you know you. And i were talking about this last week. You know why. Snl cast members would be upset. Elon musk hosting snl. Whether it sucked or i didn't watch could care less. Well i mean think careless right. He couldn't care less..

Michael fire mike morris auto collision specialist joining me when i do the show. I haven't had. I've had zero coffee today. I can get through a show. And i'm still go here. People can understand fired up about something this topic today. It's it's a good one again. Our poll question is it time for colorado to open up a hundred percent So comment on our facebook page at noko now. Text the to talk grill tax on at night. Seven zero four seven eight one. Three zero one Personal responsibility something that you talk about a lot insurance an eugene life and we we To answer your question on opening up. I think yes yes and i follow the science. Mike follow the science. You're not you're you're denier. I'm not so sure about that. The great voice. I'm not so sure i was in. It was interesting you. You texted me this morning and let me know what you're going to talk about and it's like wow i was just in scottsbluff nebraska. Now i have never been to scottsbluff nebraska and a great little town for sure i mean i was just shocked. I kind of i location and it was pretty interesting. I had to go out to a salvage yard. And as i pulled into gary nebraska. I was looking around. And i had a bit of a panic because i got in my truck and i as pulling into gehring nebraska. I looked down. And i usually have a mask right on my console. I didn't have it. Yeah i actually panicked. I'm fifty nine years old. I panicked. Because i didn't have a mask and i'm looking around going. Oh my god. I gotta get to this and they're gonna let me in and then i gotta eat because i haven't eaten yet right and i don't have a mask in. I'm looking around. There isn't a mask to be say as anybody. There was no kids. Nothing no and i didn't see a mask one and then i got to the salvage are nicer bone. Are you guys. Okay with out the mask and he goes no. We don't mask up up here and what was interesting about that. I've a friend and That works at a implement dealer. And i called him and he wanted to take me to dinner again. A fifty nine year old pretty confident male. I panicked again. I go dude. I don't have a mask. He's and he looked at me. Like are you an idiot. Because we don't wear masks. You don't mask right. And i went into a restaurant was a nice restaurant. The parking lot was packed. The there was no social distancing in there hadn't been any social according to my friend. Yeah there hadn't been any social distancing and and i'm sure there were pockets of people right and that's where the person responsibility comes in. Of course that's you know. I caught i. Well let me rephrase this. I tested positive for covid in early december. And you know there was a couple of days that i didn't feel great. I lost my sense of smell and taste. But if i would have contracted it and i know everybody it's like you're not every some people die. It's like well of course but when you talk about statistics. Tanner think about this. Have the number of total deaths in the united states and the fact that. I'm even concerned about having this conversation because i obviously don't care right but i do. I do care does matter. We went to lunch here a couple of weeks ago and you wore your mask in there and and and so because i respect their choice choice and if somebody comes into me and says hey you know i want you wear masks i. I don't get in their face. But i think it's time to open up now and i think if you are one of the people that are at high risk and they are out there. Sure then do what you should do. Mass whether that means judicial the studios things an impossibly. Now the vaccine that i was talking about I if you trust the vaccine if you wanna go there sixty or sixty up are eligible to go get this vaccine now. So we're getting to the demographics. That are statistically again. Have a very small chance of getting deathly ill from this virus. Let me this question for you. Real quick make it as texas obviously came out said all of it done mask. Everything revolves evolving. That would you trade one hundred percent capacity for these businesses for at least masks through the end of the year. No you wouldn't trade that no. I think we should open up. And i think if if you wanna take a chance if that's if it's a chance there's this reminds me of the story because we really we really don't know right. The old man. He's leaning up against the the light pole. And have you heard this story. I have ended up against the light police snapping his fingers. He's been there all morning. Little boy walks by cisco. What's that that seems weird and look so confused. He walks up the omegas. hail man. you know you've been standing here for all morning. Snap near and the old man looks at as well. I'm snapping my fingers to keep the elephants away and they'll i don't see any elephants in psych. See it works. how do we know. Tanner know that everything. That's been done or the the staying at home. I mean it has been devastating to the world. How do we know that it actually helped because honestly if you look at and again i'm not a scientist. I don't know if anybody knew that. I am not a statistician. Either i can read. And i have beliefs right so i don't know this to be true but man if it quacks like a duck and quacks like a duck don't you think it might be divey duck but you're the total deaths in the united states. Have they have. They increased while and that was something that you posed during our conversation before we got on air was was talking about. What have the the overall number of deaths done. And i think that's a great statistic that we probably haven't talked about and there's a lot of stats that they get thrown out there all the damn time that you said he pointed to the point of this and the other point that i'll make kind of piggybacking on what you're saying is looking colorado. We've been locked down pretty aggressively. She's it's it's devastating right. California has been locked down. We are moving our numbers hospitalizations cases Deaths have all been moving at the same rate as states like wyoming or texas or florida that was not as vigorously liked down so this virus by into that that the the numbers there which i think that they track him a lot better now than when the for started. Those numbers are doing whatever they're going to do anyway but you know my wife is a cpa right and you know her job is and what do you want the number to be. And what is your ax. You grind at that particular moment because you know we really need all of the information and we need it presented to us in kind of a i guess a milk toast version not like this sensationalism five hundred thousand sure and kids are dying on the street and and what are the numbers really well and what you're talking about there. I mean that there's media outlets The that need to really take a deep look into that you know and the wording that we use rhetoric is a big thing that i talk about on this program. When you talk to somebody that you got to be able to have an open discussion with them. You've got to be able to have this but when you pick words like outbreak you'll it's a big scary but that could mean to people think about yeah exactly but you know what's interesting and and the carnage and i do believe it is carnage I've a pretty big circle of of friends. And i got a really humongous circle of acquaintances. have people died from code absolutely It's a matter of degree and and by no means. Am i going to say that. That's not a tragedy. it's horrible. However have.

Wouldn't our total death numbers in the united states per capita be massively bigger than they are now. Wouldn't they be they're not they're not as a percentage of total population. That number is three hundred thousand. More people died than usually die in the united rights every year. Nobody talks about those things. Now that doesn't that doesn't take away again. The tragedy of losing a loved one. If that's your your mother your husband your daughter. Whatever laying in that hospital bed. of course you're going to have a different belief about that right a society the cost. That's been paid. I think about the kids that missed their high school. He had unkept thinning brown hair with very large moustache and he was a bit overweight. Little bit of a gut and beatrice. And lana were very surprised. As to how old he was nevertheless the trio set out for the great ocean road and beatrice sitting in the front passenger seat took several videos. Insult fees of the drive and also a selfie of her elena who was sitting in the back seat behind roman they left in the morning and after driving for only four and a half hours roman pulls off into salt creek and tells them that he wants to set up camp at tea tree crossing on the beach. The women didn't quite understand why. I mean it was still mid day and there was plenty of time to travel and roman just made up an excuse. They set up a small campsite. Complutense tables a propane grill and chairs and roman and beatrice began to cook a meal. And since lena was still jet-lagged a bit exhausted she asked to take a nap in the back of romans. Suv beatrice assured her that she would be fine. Roman abby address if she wanted to take a walk with him because there was usually a pack of kangaroos in a nearby dune and he claimed to have seen their tracks while setting up camp. No thanks wanting to see the native wildlife beatrice agreed and they started walking away from camp. It became evident rather quickly that there were no kangaroos assault creek roman had lured beatrice to do over the hill from the campsite and there was nothing there as she turned to walk back to the campsite romans straw..

The Case Of Chad And Lori Daybell

"Dick I feel like we've kind of been just living this case the last several days there's so much that we had to delve into. So let's just start with an overview of the timeline going back to the beginning because it's very complicated and as much for me as for the listeners a little review and a little in-depth investigation into these things would be helpful both helpful the me. We did last week's first part of this and I'm just at the time you do it do the recording. It sounds reasonable. Then as I think back about it, I'm trying to say what happened when who did what? So. This'll be very helpful. It's a crazy thing and of course, with the tragic ending, which is horrible. So. Let's go back to Chad Day Bell. He married his first wife Tammy in nineteen ninety and they had five children together over the years in Nineteen ninety-two Laurie got married for the first time at age eighteen and this marriage only lasted a very short time under a year from what I've heard. Then she remarried in nineteen ninety five and that's when she gave birth to her son Colby in nineteen, ninety six. Again, she got divorced then in two, thousand one, she married Joseph Ruin and Laurie and Joe had their daughter Kylie together in two thousand and two, and just a little bit of a word about Tyler's childhood. We we know that she was used as a pawn by Laurie and her divorce custody filings against Joe Ryan. But there's also some evidence fairly convincing evidence that Laurie mains have had Munchausen by proxy pilot who's in and out of the hospital many times, and she even had exploratory surgery to quote figure out what was wrong unquote and that's something that just. Really isn done nowadays, right? No, it isn't that if we go back a few years that was something I mean if if you have parent who keeps bringing a child into the office bureau for various complaints and you have run tests and nothing ever shows up, you might have considered doing an exploratory bit of surgery as probably a what's called a lap me. Where they look inside the the belly at the F. Domino contents and maybe take biopsies just to see if there was something that they had missed Leah from my experience on a pediatric surgical floor though they only do that when they're like at the end of their rope, this is after days of observing taking the kid off of a regular diet doing. IV fluids run, they do a lot of things I and the munch just love to hang out in the room for days and get the attention. So this is very classic Munchausen by proxy behavior who certainly is yet it really is and no illness was ever determined, which is significant I think road even with the surgery. Yes. So so there you go. Exactly. Nine, two, thousand when Tyler was about six, her therapist raised concerns about the stress Tyler was going through with her health issues and the custody issues. Tally, did say to the therapist that she did enjoy visits with her father. There were documented concerns about Laurie being dishonest on Tyler's intake forms. One of these things whereas where Lori said, the tally had pancreatitis. The custody documents I was able to peruse showed that Kylie did say she enjoyed visits with her father but then she told the therapist that she was frightened to stay overnight because her father molested her now she used the word molested and when her mom came into the room with her and the therapist apparently tie looked at Lori and said I, told her. So it just really I'm not convinced that Joe sexually abused tightly and I'll always believe someone until I have reason not to especially a child but there were some classic signs of the Mother Coaching her. So in two thousand, four, Laurean Joe were divorced and Laurie remarried Charles Valo in two, thousand six. Now for those of you who are counting Charles's husband number four. Yes, and in two thousand, twelve, a little boy named Joshua. Jackson was born he's he's the biological child of Charles Valez nephew his grandparents cared for jj until they made the decision along with Lori and. Charles that Lori Charles would adopt and raise JJ, and this was back in two thousand fourteen. Laurie already had colby and entirely. So the grandparents K. and Larry Woodcock were really thinking that they might have a better home there because there'd be other kids. It's kind of their little bit younger than Larry and K. so laurie who they thought was just a wonderful mom. At, the time agreed to adopt the little boy with Charles and then Laurie Charles entirely moved to Hawaii along with JJ services in two thousand fourteen when the adoption went through the options gone through and we've Kurt the family now lorries. Oldest son is what out of the house at this point because he's like eighteen nineteen, he didn't move to Hawaii with them now. He didn't in two thousand fifteen back to Chad, Tammy and the family moved to Idaho from Utah Right, in two years later, the veil of family moved back to Arizona, from Hawaii then on April third two, thousand, eighteen lorries, ex husband, her third husband Joseph Ryan was found dead in his home Laurie was notified as she was still listed as his next of kin. Didn't notify Joe's sister Anne who by all accounts she was very close to Anne was still a part of tiles life, your birth Maurice to ruin agenda Yes. I know we've talked about this a little bit in part one, but you did get a chance to review the autopsy. They were a few things that stuck out to us like the fact that the height was off and they call them a heavyset guy which he really wasn't. No. But remember he was in his apartment for at least a week decomposing before anyone found was a neighbor who found him that's correct. Yes and we don't have the entire autopsy but the cause of death was per tiriac sclerotic heart disease, which means that you're coronary arteries getting clogged up, which isn't really crazy for a fifty nine year old man to die of in general but

Mexico reopens economy after two-month COVID-19 lockdown

"Take you to Mexico now the country looks set to Paul's ten thousand deaths from corona virus this is the second highest toll in Latin America off to Brazil the authorities recognize that Mexico is now at the peak of the pandemic never the less they'll gradually reopening the country from today the first of June this week to journalists on a government level house in Mexico City M. what Mexicans think then of the idea to start of starting to ease the look down on the camera when the peak of the pandemic is is ongoing in the country Hey when Mexicans are deeply divided about these government decision many are uncertain the relief that the economy is re opening because more than half of the population making a living in the informal sector and do not have a fixed salary so for them this lockdown has been especially hard but on the other hand there is another part of the population which stinks that easing the lockdown is very contradictory since specially now the corona virus is spreading really quick so these people are worried a friend even more sharply increase of the cases and the I W. I had the flu shot and this is what he told me the decision for re opening Mexico is being taken since its economy won't receive a long time to slow down situation however for a successful re opening the publishers should be should commit themselves to to be respectful of the measures required to control the street of the disease we are not sure if the city will be possible in Mexico so it's highly improbable to see a rise in the number of cases during the next days there is the after re opening challenging the out by the media and the extremely health services it's what every country is bouncing right then our public health versus the need to get the economy back running again so so what changed what we see today Mexico in terms of using the lock down the economy will be allowed to resume operations and that's the government's case it would be done gradually and the friendly in each part of the country for example in Mexico CD that so far has been dead the epicenter of the pandemic the schools we continue to be close but the construction will be respected also restaurants would be allowed to operate that thirty percent of their capacity be a production so will be respected and the seas has been particularly because of the debate since the government has considered it an essential activity so we should point out that Mexico in Mexico the lockdown has a strong get western he advised by the government and imposing some places such as schools and working centers but not to the general population so Mexico is a country of many different realities and some people carry out on working through all this time and somehow stop the work depending on how old they are absolutely it's the same the world over isn't it is is there any clear idea then why we're looking at the situation in Mexico with a maternity right from corona virus is so hard to just behind Brazil's when the mentality rate is really high he did so one of the highest in the region G. journey so nine point eight percent on the Alberta check over that of the people is fifty nine years so is leading junk considering like comparing to other countries especially in Europe so expressing that the reason behind east another up and then make a **** the country before the coronavirus which is over sixty Mexico with the U. S. is one of the countries with the highest number of obese people in the world and that conditions comes with other related problems such as diabetes and hypertension so according to though W. it show this contributes to higher rates of CDS complications from cardiac thank you for joining us on Capitol hasta Tony is live from Mexico City
