An Interview with South African Golfer Erik van Rooyen
"Want you to tell me absolutely everything. You can't about golf club that CHAPULTEPEC because I love watching this golf course I promise. There's not one detail I went to get by about playing it. Used COMING OFF A T. Three finish I just want you to kind of walk us through some of the considerations that go into play in that course because they talk about the altitude of course on the broadcast. It's not a direct translation of like. Oh now my eight iron goes this far because of all the different heights and stuff so right. What kind of adjustments do you make before this tournament? It's interesting because usually so I grew up. Bob Played logoff in Johannesburg South Africa and the difference is about ten percents so when a plan Janice Burke I play straight meters and it works great. Is that your stock yardage? Won't you play here play yards so say my nine goes one hundred and fifty eight hundred fifty five meters in Johannesburg. It goes one hundred fifty five yards here interesting so it's pretty close. But then we get to Japan Deepak. And it's like okay bowls going even further than Giannis books on the Tuesday. We hit every club in the bag. Just write it down straight. How is it going and track men track man and that's it? He had all the numbers in each Irish book. And I was like okay. How far is it nine? Ongo again or the eight on well about one hundred and eighty seven. Here's a. But then if you are if you're hitting a ninety five percent nine iron. Is it a direct? Does that really change how much it's going to fly compared to a regular golf course like? What are those kind of adjust? I try to not over. Think it too in the fate happened on even back on Sunday. A sixteen I was in between it was either a full wedge but the braves is a little into us. I think it was a hundred and fifty one of the pen and sixteen in a massive slow behind it. You can use a slip if you want and so we decided on taking a little nine and I was like okay but I've got a little bit of this. How am I doing that again? So it okay. But I think if you've gone over think it is going to get quite complicated yet but it's interesting. I don't feel like we see a golf course on tour where we see more guys get more mystified on the distance. The balls go right. I mean we're watching your shot into seven on Sunday. I think it was Sunday right. Excellent we watched guys go long on that day we tell people hitting the tree and everything like that but it just seems like it's a golf course that makes you guys at. Maybe not you finished tied for third. Maybe not may be the guy to ask about this but makes people uncomfortable. A little bit does does especially. If you're not in use it you know and it's funny I think when you get to sort of the mid irons seven six eight nine. It almost takes a little bit more because at ball gets up a little bit and we spoke about We do WanNa hit the high one just account for that little bit extra orage. Because it's GonNa go that extra bit further. You just had to get comfortable with it. We see every almost every year this tournament. Guys that hit it really far succeed. And if you adjust for altitude the courses equivalent of like sixty four hundred yards doesn't play. That long doesn't play that long. But why why would long drivers succeed there? I don't know it's a good question. I just think it's a golf 'cause again at its it's similar to courses in. Johannesburg and I grew up on us. I was very even lossiemouth system applied comfortable then. I think it's a golf course. It looks really tight but take whole four for example. Huge dog laughed. If you're going to hit drave got left because it's fairly simple punch out to the green and every holes Kinda got aside like that You know eight for example you have to miss it right dog right up the hill. If you left screwed you gotTa Punch out so you know which sites here driver wherever you want to. You're going to have a chance at least punch out to the green or get it around the green somewhere seeking up and down for par. But if you're going to play conservatively and you then mess here in trouble so I think part of the reason why we love watching so much is it feels a lot like the experiment of if if the the best players in the world are GONNA play. What of course that kind of looks like our local Munich overgrown yeah and just kind of weird bunkers around the green but guys seem to love playing and obviously you've had success or whatever. What is it about that makes it so fun to play? I think it's GonNa mix of everything you've got the short hauls you've got one which is really exciting. You know Gaza him to on on the green three woods and yet dot abounds right there to the left if you miss it too exciting long-hauls like eight really good par threes seven. It's going to be one of the baseball threes we play. Oh yeah I mean after you? Great show say tree. You wouldn't have been settled. I hit the tree. Freakin covers like off of the It's a tricky one. It's got a lot of everything it gives you know Sunday. There's a lot of pens. We can use some slopes and get a close with a whole lot of exciting stuff. What's IT I mean? So Co again. We're talking about of course the you're playing plays very differently than the rest of the courses you've been in pressure situations before and but now you're playing golf course that has this weird altitude factor In a high pressure situation Sunday did that feel any different than the other high pressure situations. You've been in on Sundays now. Pretty similar of you know if I think back in Sweden last year I was more nervous on Sunday in Europe and then I was This this this last week on Saturday I was actually the drain. Hundred was all over the place and then Sunday was quite calm. Funny Enough I shot four under this adds. There's all one hundred Sunday so I think I did. Okay and do you do anything differently? At altitude you set out when you start out the week. Are You hydrating better? I believe you've had. He got hit with food poisoning. The Eagles screwed bring that on himself. Are you what do you do with food wise? Like how do you make sure you don't get hit with what hits a lot of people in Mexico You know we went to a nice restaurant in the hotel tippin. Yawkey good Japanese food. He says it was shrimp. That we all eat the shrimp. I think he went back and add something different afterwards but yeah he was out. Thursday he was went back to the Italian sleep the whole day so actually at my trainer on the bag and heated. Okay Club the club me. Bad Club on AIDS or sixteen holes. He gave you a bad club. Is it three would drive? And he's like Nana hit. The driver and I hit it laughed. I wasn't supposed to go gave him the guy but we did okay in the end. It's all good well. This is perfect timing because we tease you before. We going to do our Calloway ad for you. We're GONNA make you add Lib it but the one thing I was adjusted to ask about was the maverick three would you? Yeah what's your feedback on that? I loved it the minute I got up behind. A bowl think it sits really good. It's kind of like a classic three would for me and I'm kind of an old school guy like I don't have any persimmon clubs but I'd love to have some one day. I love a good Blade Iron. So that looks like just a classic looking through it. I like it. One of our guys is claiming that the jaws wedges mart should be illegal. They should be illegal because the grooves are so good on them and they're literally wanted me to ask you about whether what you think of the grooves on the switches. I spoke to You. Think he should have been disqualified for using illegal. I don't think so spokes Rodrick Cleveland about and he's not working for callaway at the Genesis obviously got so much knowledge and they've actually got little miniature groups in between the actual cruise. You know I didn't know that you do get a lot of spin on them. It was context as that. That was the frightening part for me. Was sometimes I would get crazy. Good Spin but what are you? That concludes the AD portion of this much of a tinker with equipment. I mean how often will you do you consider? Where do you fall in the spectrum? I guess when I probably prefer not to change obviously I think like any golf perfect. We all love getting. You couldn't love seeing the latest stuff but if something works for me I'm GONNA I'm GonNa keep it in the bag. Don't really like to change unless I see significant improvement. Yeah what. What is the feedback on the joggers? Somehow I knew this was go. Of course I can't believe I made this is Ed's is really all over the ballpark to be honest people. It's so polarized what people get so worked up about it. I'm very okay. It doesn't bother me. People either love it or absolutely hates that have gone some meshes instagram. So on lady in Lee Massachusetts says surely got enough money to go buy some property tie for the conference and then I get guys at say absolutely love it wake and I get it. So it's no middle ground extra comfortable like what is really cockney appeal of the convenient at the same time you know. I think I think they look good. Yes it's different and people probably done like that too much but what in Golf? No Way people love. The sport is so good at the time so I think I don't know I don't mind the fact that it's a little extending are just a little bit but then again I'm not a huge fan of those loudmouthed pants. That are all these different kinds of colors. Were those the two options you were. But I think I think it's. It's it's a little different it at the same time. So neat and clean well. I honestly do think it's underrated. Part of the highest levels of pro golf. That you have to wear pants eighty-five in hot is new. And it's truly not comfortable to play golf in that paints have come to. I know that sounds stupid to save. It could even looking at some of the. We're with Brad Faxon. They're looking at some of the old cotton shirts. Right Hands Right. Yeah the idea of wearing pants and eighty five degree heat. I know that there's a lot that comes with a minor thing to deal with a right but it is like when you're playing poorly in your pants and your hot Yeah new European they. They made a rule now. If it gets above a certain temperature they allow you to wish awards but I mean just make it across the board. I mean why not yes. I'm not quite sure I can only go back to something you said earlier and not feeling super nervous on Sunday. A couple of things one. I'm curious how how how to how it different from Scandinavia like you're talking about and then three like there's a lot on the line for you personally stars like where you're GonNa be playing how much you can walk up all that kind of stuff. It's a lot of questions I think about all those things. I just any other little four foot writer. That you've got going is going into the week or going into Sunday. What what are those things that are on on your mind? Music like special temporary membership and that kind of for how I it's it's in the back you mind. I'M GONNA TRY THAT. I'm trying to get my PJ to card But I mean. I've been doing this for quite a while. Now. And if that's going to be at the forefront of your mind going on Sunday you're definitely not going to be ready to go win major tournaments. You've got kind of put it in the Freezer. You know until you're done so it's not easy. Obviously wing then golf tournament was forefront of my mind throughout the whole day but if God just go do your job as well as he can so what. Walk us through kind of that that we were talking about trying to get your car right. So let's catch people up that people that are not as familiar with your career to this point and I want to go

"To see that office of line and what they did so many years ago was special and really that's what I talk about with my keys to winning tonight this this depicts a line of Kansas city that got to stop the run game of Indianapolis when you look at the center Ryan Kelly first round pick went Nelson left guard first round pick in the Costanzo left tackle first round pick they preferred to run the ball to the left side and so the chiefs have to be ready for that the fact is you don't want to get the run game going from Indianapolis aside because if you do then that makes it that much easier for Jacoby per set somebody filling in your taking over the reins for Andrew luck and he's doing a very capable job olds can hit home runs in the run game people so when you run the ball you can't keep up with the high octane offense now when you get sixty three in the yard in fifty five yard runs the chief now last in the league in runs against them for yards or more in first down and then over all show but also gets to steam how do you prevent the home run running play you know what I I think you have to have the defense of pursue the something we saw last week I felt like the person from the backside was getting cut off and they weren't getting there I am in the running back was getting through the gap before they could close it off and so with that being said it's got to be gaining tackle game them mentality and you've just got to do your job don't try to do too much don't try to stick your nose in somewhere where it doesn't belong defensively especially you have to work as a unit I think this defensive unit is getting better service is that statistics don't say that to a degree but they're doing some intangibles that I think are are very very well grounded in in again tonight you know you mentioned also occur for out so manual all box has to fill in and really you know you think about it these he hasn't been a starter but yes because they rotate he's getting thirty forty snaps a game in your kudos to the chiefs and what they're doing right there specially bred in daily the defensive line coach and what he's doing with the unit making sure everybody stays fresh so when you have something like this you've got the talent and you've got the experience the chiefs are much better tackling team we know that quickly on offense though for the cheese to attack this team already said three starters on defense there is Leonard to study he's out both safeties are out you think you could gas this team yeah no doubt about it I think Travis Kelsey running down the middle the field you've got to test those two safeties and you're gonna see somebody run free because big red is going to computers in some way shape or form with a play call Sunday night football back with our field report after this on the cheese fox football radio network.

"One one no no to kick on a soccer field it was actually a fifty five yard field goal that the World Cup star let loose a training session for the Philadelphia Eagles last week all that's the eagles of the National Football League American football now for some perspective that is the tough kick for most kickers in the N. F. L. right now so a video of it went viral lays a huge eagles man and the whole thing started when the team invited her to watch them practice at the end they unexpectedly they call on to the field and it takes a few steps there remain without my warm up nothing and kicks the ball through the golf notice Lloyd's longtime coach James Galanis he says after that video got shared around they started getting some phone calls some of these calls were from NFL teams one team even invited Lloyd to join the roster for a preseason game on Thursday that would make her the first woman to play in an NFL preseason game it could change the why the world thinks saying it at that level unfortunately Lloyd had to decline she's already scheduled to play in a soccer game the same day but Galanis says it could happen in the future she would need to train first but he says he's already got the right mindset shutting the hall will bail and just thinking that's the only thing that existing going through striking the bull through the Goths stripe down the middle I think that is also something that Cali one have a problem with doing that song and think that I'm talking about and if she does it Galanis says it could open the door for women not just to play in the NFL but in any male dominated league you're listening to All Things Considered from NPR news you're listening to ninety point three K. Soccer star Carli Lloyd received offers to kick in NFL preseason games
"It's been confirmed by Carli Lloyd of the U. S. women's national team that she is quote seriously considering on offer from the NFL now it's gotten old it's gotten a little fuzzy what can offer a we talking about is it an offer to simply come in and kick on Thursday night in the final preseason game for a team that's possible that's how I originally read at this time they were a little bit more Corey in terms of what the offer actually is and what Carly is thanking and the reason for this if you missed it about a week maybe a little bit more ago a viral video surfaced of Carly at eagles camp kicking a fifty five yard field goal and by the way kicking it threw up rights that are squeezed together even fitter than actual goal posts in the NFL fifty five yards no joke now granted no rush no snap no timing look like maybe her her run up to the ball was a little bit longer than what an actual kicker would do but you know fifty five yards that is not a joke and this thing did not just barely clear the cross bar it was with ease and it was perfectly centered and Carly's time with the U. S. women's national team probably doesn't have a whole lot of laughs because she's in her mid thirties courses a kicker what the hell you could just get started at that time now is this ever going to turn into Kali kicking in real NFL games I find that to be a little bit far fetched but who the heck knows and quite frankly who the heck cares this is fantastic it's fantastic it should happen don't get caught in the debate and the minutia of whether or not it would work it doesn't matter that's not the point the point is out all times and everyone in all leagues can do it better all times they should be thinking in twenty nineteen about entertaining the masses that's the thing you know we look at baseball games and we go and we need to restart the game no you don't need to shorten the game you need the game to be more entertaining there need to be more things going on that that that that keep the attention of the audience and even the NFL which is incredibly entertaining there's urgency already built in only sixteen games I'm number one television show across the board throughout every football season by far our basketball very entertaining but are there ways other ways that they could make it even more entertaining while the big the big sore thumb for the NFL is the pre season it is incredibly difficult to find reasons to watch a preseason game out one I've watched so far one one time did I actually sit down on the couch with a pillow behind my head make food and say let's get it on I'm watching this happened one time and in fact is the only time I can remember it happening in the last I don't know how many years and it was last Saturday because Jimmy Garamba fear was was running through the streets of San Francisco and seemingly beyond and so we had to see it he was gonna play all high off he gets some continuity he could make a mistake or two and have time to to button it up he did all of those things and I was there for and then half time came and I wasn't there for it anymore and do you know how much I will watch of Thursday night narodna nothing I promise absolutely nothing I will I watch all that game on Thursday night because the relevant it's relevent the stars won't be there it's just not watchable however if Carli Lloyd were kicking for one of those teams I watched the whole thing I'll I would watch the whole thing and I would be rooting every time offer every drive just all of the twenty five yard line so why not who gets hurt how many teams already know who their kicker is gosh I hope the forty Niners of the team making the offer Robbie gold your quarterback don't put him out there on Thursday why who knows somebody could roll into his leg get Carli Lloyd M. and letter kick and who knows what would happen next but when you want to see it are so this is taking the next step there is serious consideration going on and and who knows where this is going to go on Thursday or quite frankly beyond it would be

"The every go does the record. Now does the record Goto blocked versus missed field goal. The article that I just pulled this up from does indicate that yes, the NFL has changed. The ruling. Interesting. All right. They're still doing something in the NFL. That drives me nuts and. I've corrected to things in the NFL tra- the upright. I got the uprights raised and the other thing I did was get them to fix overtime. Overtime used to be first person. You know, you win. The coin toss you go down. This guy kicks us sixty hard field goal, you leave. And I said why should it be settled with a coin toss? And with the range, especially if you're playing in a dome or Denver or something like that. Where people routinely can kick fifty five yard field goals. You win. The coin toss you complete a couple of passes. And then just go kick kick the field goal and other team doesn't get to put their offense on the field. Right. Because of the coin toss what what what kind of that's not precise. So I always said. If you go down and kick a field goal. The other teams should get a chance to come out on the field. If you can go punch it into the end zone, then so be it leave with the victory. And that's what they change it to. Thank you. You're welcome. Call the Corolla ruling. But I'll tell you one thing they still need to fix drew. It's happened in a lot of these games. They do the premature whistle. And then we don't know who would have recovered the fumble or how to advance a fumble. And it's like it's a play that's happening at one hundred miles an hour. The receiver catches the ball, it appears he's taking a step or two. But the defender has his hand intertwined in the receivers, and he rips the ball and now the balls loose and the is blowing the whistle and everyone stops. And it's like don't blow the whistle. See what happens? Maybe it's a catch. Maybe it's not a catch. Maybe it's an incomplete maybe it's a bubble. But if you blow the whistle will never know who would have recovered it who would have picked it up. What would have happened? I've been yelling about this real years. It's so close it's such a split second. It happened. So many times that oh it was able what is in it for you. Now. I know you're trying to cut down on injuries. And when the plays over the plays over, but this this is happening heartbeat. You have no. Oh idea in real time. What exactly has happened? If you blow the whistle. A great plays. No game. Swing has has has has a foot. Yes. Gary Gary shaky is head. You're you're I think you're referencing the game at the end of the first half of the eagles. Gago eagles game. And they came out today. And it was eliminated that there's a weird rule where technically after that review. The reason that the ball was ruled incomplete was because no one went over and picked it up. Even after the whistle. If one of the team one of the players had walked over and pick the ball up. It would have been there ball after review, but because the official picked up the ball. It's ruled incomplete which is so silly don't blow the whistle. I couldn't agree more. Also, the other thing that drives me nuts. The football move. First off. You're in a uniform you're on a field. You've made a football move. You are things sings he caught the ball. But he didn't make a foot. It's like he's got a catch ball. He's gotta turn. He's got. No he caught the ball period. And then he got stripped of all, right? But he didn't make a football, man. Hey, guess what? What catching a football is Dr football move. I would call that by definition. Yes. If some guy throws the ball to you and you catch it and it's on a football field. That's a football move. Here's what I'm sort of a star by the rule is I've said this million times everyone cousin Sal laughs us, ask insane person..

"That's a pickup of three. So it is third down at a couple of yards to go for the Irish obviously Donnelly third down, but fourth-down needed here if they have to twenty point game, we're not gonna see it. See you in the field goal kicker unless they lose a few yards wide receiver emotional, right? That's yawn flag on the play attack. They're blowing the play dead. This is third down and seven running up the middle of the field. Nobody open a really like. What like the plan there? I just took off and Randy and book, but Wilkins and Simmons says, we got you. And now you've got a fourth down coming up, and what's Brian Kelly gonna do here? It's fourth down at about nine from the thirty seven. Now, this has been a story throughout the night book. They're going with short drops. And he's not getting any separation from receivers a big part of that is he's not taking deep drops. And so he's not given his wide receivers time to work down the field and get that separation. Then after he takes a look maybe checks a second read in the progression. Cowboys WR Amari Cooper dominates Eagles in 29-23 OT victory
"Desk Prescott an Amari Cooper hooked up for three touchdowns against the eagles. And the last was the sweetest of all as we hear from Brad sham on one zero five three the fan. How else would you subtle this game? Besides the ball bouncing off the defender, Amari Cooper and hip block it into the winning score. Cowboys twenty nine twenty three in overtime. As Cooper finished with two hundred seventeen yards on ten catches and Prescott overcame two interceptions and a loss. Fumbled a set career highs with forty two completions fifty four taps and four hundred fifty five yards. Stay true to myself. Stay true to what I was doing and didn't get down on myself. "fifty five yard" Discussed on Bolts from the Blue
"But while watching that game, it was almost like we're kind. Getting a taste of what the chargers receiving core could be in two thousand nineteen. You know, we saw Tyra Williams another big game hundred eighteen yard touchdown. One that touchdown coming on that seventy five yard bomb to begin the game, Mike Williams. You talked about big splash play that fifty five yard touchdown kina now and up the middle five catches seventy two yards, big contributions from all of them, and then Travis Benjamin. He was active this week and he had eleven snaps on Sunday. And you know, I think it might be a case that they're kind of working Travis Benjamin in because he was the first time. He's been active since he was injured, but he's been out most of the year. He got eleven snaps on Sunday and it seems like this could be the receiving core. You have Tiro Williams as the guy who stretches the field to maybe he's the favorite to resign with the chargers. The free agency because the team can cut Travis Benjamin and save five point, two, five million. He's owed six point, five thousand nineteen. I think it's. One point, two, five cost to cut him. So you save five point, two, five, you know, with those three white outs and how they're playing and how consistent Tiro Williams has been last two games. It seems like this could be the receiving core fans. Love trumps Benjamin fast, but you're seeing Williams can stretch the field. You know, he came down with impressive catch on Sunday to where he was right by the sideline where rivers scrambling to the right and he Zabel to catch the ball and fall out of bounds. Twenty six yards. Second quarter was really a catch, and it seems like if they are working Travis Benjamin in slowly, I, I don't know how you get away from this rotation because Mike Williams showed some impressive traits. Tiro Williams has been hot last two weeks Cunanan still eating up the middle of the field. And if terra William stays consistent, that's great. You saw Mike Williams who probably should've had another touchdown pass in the end zone where he kinda more trapped the. Ball against his pads, which isn't good technique, especially when you're in tight quarters and the red zone, but six, four to twenty five hundred ninety pound corner on your back. That's not great technique. They don't teach that and wide receiver school, but he was also targeted again in the red zone where he kind of felt like he's kind of dragged down from behind on that point, but becoming red zone weapon. They like to go to show that he Tricia field and can pick up some extra yards and some reverses the last couple of weeks. So you know between Mike looms Tyra Williams, Keenan Allen. You might be looking at the receiving core going in two thousand nineteen and it's an easy cut to remove Travis Benjamin this off season. Yeah, I feel like we've been saying that for two years now. It's much easier than it hasn't passed two years. Yeah, I, I agree. I think I'm not sure if they're working Benjamin slowly or they've just realized that they have better options because hope, yeah. I mean, you're seeing Keenan and Mike Williams entira Williams getting the bulk of the snaps. We saw a lot of too wide receiver sets on Sunday with Keenan in Tiro. And Mike, I believe brought was third and snaps like thirty. So he didn't play as many snaps, two guys did. So it seems like they're really growing into, you know, define roles with all three of those particular players and Travis. Even now that he's healthy is snaps or not what they used to be, and they shouldn't be because now you've got two guys on the outside who are six, three, six, four who can go up and get the ball. Big, strong hands guys, who you know, you think as they develop, they're going to be able to make more contested catches and be big, red zone targets for jump balls. You've got Keenan like you mentioned chewing up yard in the middle of the field..

"And fifty five yards and a touchdown. Also, of course over one hundred yards. I fight. He's one hundred yard rusher since week seventeen of last season run. Yeah. That that's crazy to even say that but latavius Murray. I mean, hopefully, this is a prelude of things to come. We don't know how long it's gonna take hamstring is one of the biggest muscles on the body. And it's tough when you have any little nagging injury. Cause any sharp movement heart cut anything can tweak it and get you right back to ground zero. So I think the biggest thought they had today was let's get him healthy to be honest. And I know we don't want to say this it overlooked team or any team. But I know they want to get him back for that Sunday night game versus the saints. Because when Alvin Kamara comes in here with Mark Ingram, and that guy by the name of drew Brees, you're gonna need firepower to go score for score with them because that's definitely a LA Rams type of offense. What we saw another dynamic running back today. But the Vikings mostly neutralized him. I know David Johnson got into the end. But outside of that touchdown not a huge part of the game. Right. Eighteen carries fifty five yards to catches fifteen yards for David Johnson. David johnson. I know we know he got hurt last year. Didn't missed a lot of the season. And anytime coming off of an injury. I mean, we see from Donald cook anytime coming off of injury. Sometimes I mean, everybody's not built like Adrian Peterson Adrian Peterson's a frequent nature when it comes to how he rehab in the season the ad after that, ACL tear. So when you look at David Johnson right now, I'm not gonna say it's just the Josh Rosen piece. I think a little bit of it is just injury. Like he's trying to get back to where he was and. Yeah, he's I mean, he still has I think been Lieber say like seventy to eighty percent of their offense production was out of David Johnson. So that's scary to say that. And then you look at what he did today. So they they're strong. I mean one in four right now, that's that's going to be or one in five. Who knows if they win another game? I mean, they're gonna they're gonna have to find some manufacturers and points, and they definitely need to get the bar FitzGerald more. That's gonna. You know, that's got to happen bikes doing twenty-seven seventeen over the cardinals. Again, the word is tourney C L for Mike Hughes MRI tomorrow. We'll obviously keep you up to date on the fan. So keep listening. Otherwise, that's Ron Johnson. I'm Cory go back to the phone lines. We go let's go to Eric in maple grove Minnesota Eric you're on Vikings fan line. Hi. Iran. What's up, man? I we're going to the game. I think right. You're saying they don't go my Adrian Pearson. I thought he was right? We needed them. Ruby wrong. I got a lot on my face. What do you have one fifty five? All right. Thanks for the call. Freesheet it. Yes, he had one fifty five and you have a lot of egg on your face. That's true. Pam in Cologne. Cam. Hey, guys. Nice taking my call. Couple of comments about today's game. I think. As a Viking fan. Just wanted to throw out the Lindvall delta Aviv. It's awesome to see him outside the hash. Mark just crossing people. I think are decent plastic. A little bit today, which I haven't seen in five games. More balanced attack with the offense as more running which is great. I don't think we can sustain throwing the ball fifty times. Again saw. Thanks Lynn balls, always going to be a beast. But Ron specifically today you and I kept taut showing and talking about Denise hunt. Denise hunters strength one arms. Yes. At times a sack now in every game this season, six straight games. He had to today. So last week we were talking about who streaks gonna go the longest, right? Adam feeling streak to start the season with one hundred yards receiving or more or Genucel hunter with a sack in every game. I think you leaned towards the Neil either answer would have been correct 'cause they extended the streaks today. Yeah. I mean, it's it's it's tough. Because like, I think we are your point was pretty good that theline has to work all game to get to his two nil just has one crazy play. And even though I have faith in atom deniro right now in and coach. And I talked before the game was on the sideline. And he told me that the Neo is in his natural spot like his opinion. That's. His natural spot. A right power Diene. The problem is he plays with a guy by the name Everson Griffen. So we don't know if ever since ever coming back. But if he does then that then you do you treat Everson like you did be, Robin. Do you move him over you let the new young guy that should be on the power side? Stay and then, hey, you go play the backside DeAnne, and we'll move you in and out with whether the he's still can be powerful. We still can be great from there. But I don't know if you is like a pitcher if a pitcher's throwing a no hitter, you don't really take him out and put them in the outfield, you leave him. So I would say you leave one hundred there because that's where he's having success right now. And then you bring Evan if he does come back if not deniro's doing, you know, he's doing a pretty good job right now. But I swear it feels like every week. There's a different injury or something some wrench thrown into this team to just continue to make the adversity even even bigger. So I don't know why or what? But the teams there rebounding just fine. But the Mike Hughes thing, you know, that's tough and. Next week and the week after for sure pressure on the quarterback going to be key. Drew brees. You can't give him five seconds, especially without my cues. Now, you can't give him more than three seconds or he will eat you alive. So to hunter Weatherly and then Anthony Barr. I mean, he's playing pretty well to they're going to have to do more of that where he saw him and Kendrick today. Come after that gap a little bit and start to you know, really crowded line. And then the defensive back blitzes with Harrison Smith and MacKenzie Alexander both getting a sack that's the stuff. We're used to seeing we haven't seen that that first three or four games. So now they're getting back to the basics of who they were. So if or when Everson Griffen comes back, are you convinced that he could play left any in training at right defensive end or left defensive end the same thing when it comes to foot work and scheme and moves is it the same thing as switching to left. Tackle, right. Tackle how you just mentioned were shot hills. Not a left tackle super foreign forever. Deflate a little bit. Yeah. I mean, he played it at the early on in his career because he will you know, he was the younger guy. So you know, how to do it? But yeah, I mean when you're on the right? You know, you're right hand down or sorry left. Hang down guy. When you're on the left is opposite. Where deniro sometimes you notice. He's a double double people's both arms down in these comedies letting them know, I'm I don't care about supporting Ron I'm coming after your quarterback. So I think the is more of a hybrid because he can do I don't know if everybody can do both hands on the ground, and then kind of like push off like a dog sled almost or whatever that would be a bobsled. But he you know, he can do that. Ev he's gonna have to practice it. I mean, I don't know if they would even let him back right away if he'd have to clear some kind of evaluation and do some other stuff, but yeah, he would have to figure out. Do you do is it worth the move? I mean, maybe they would just for because he didn't lose his spot to like performance. So you put them back on the right? And you put deal back on the left. If it's not working. You got engaged. Hey, let's flip this deniro. You go back Weatherly you come in. We'll work you in like we did with B, rob. And that's what that's what happens. You know? Guys. Tom Brady got his job because you Bledsoe got hurt wasn't playing. So that happens sometimes where great players. A chance to show how great they are. Because a better player or older player. That was in front of them is no longer plan. Six five one nine eight nine five three two six or one eight hundred three two zero five three to six. We'll talk to Nick Todd and more after this. Vikings win twenty seven seventeen over the air is under cardinals. That's Ron Johnson. I'm Cory cove. And this is Minnesota Vikings football. Rosen. You know, we're all different so the greater.

Didn't have to run but if you missed them everyone ran but you Stuff like that is fun because. I would if he would, have given them another chance like was it just. Going to be one chance, only says, one chance This is, really it was two catches one catch it was like to catch but he picked office in a defensive guy too so I bet you he probably would say let's flip a coin or something and see has a base Two out of three But you're right it does endear those two big Lyman who really in obscurity office of, Lyman the deepest, lemon you don't know must be the guys endeared him, to the entire team, the office of line the defensive line and everybody who's on, the periphery like this. That, that's, my guy Mattel Ness my guy because what they call it a pun and he got some time off for so it. Does a great job I run. Very good psychological edge broadcast roundtable brought. To you by Geico fifteen minutes could save you fifty percent or more on your, car. Insurance cook engineer rob is there any science behind the notion that close teams perform better What do you mean Teams, that. Get along well. Absolutely you can vicar You, can you can pick your way to the championship but the most miserable season that. You, would. Ever have victory Oh that's. Miserable and guys are at odds and each other to two thousand fifteen it was a season where that locker room you can go locker room. And you didn't have the normal cliqueish things that everyone was talking to everyone and and that's what you really want you. Want the team. That just feel good and comfortable with, your defense. Alignment around a office of guy or vice, versa special teams guy if you love each other like that That's a recipe for success. If that way when I was Green Bay Packers vote that way when even when I was with Atlanta and was on a wedge simple guys genuinely liked each other and had each other's, back and so I, think, that is a component to have. A successful on a team is guys like each other so. Which comes first the, team, gets, along, wins or, winning. Creates teams getting along with each other, both winning creek, teams getting along with, other I want to, talk about this too before the break because on the same lines since the. Last, time we. Had a panther talk Carolina's gonna buffalo played a preseason game one. The game but before the game Kelvin Benjamin. And Cam Newton get together Thomas Davis is also in there getting a piece of it this has been tweeted twitted blog Facebook space-time incident grateful. And and so in your guy's opinion who's got clean who's got clean hands who's got dirty hands who's got the who. Got the better. Of that inner change in your estimate I think. So I don't think no one wins because everything become so partisan at some point for buffalo Bill fans will jump being and Carolina fans but when I look at it just from a, standpoint of let me, take, myself out of being to look. For what it is it was precipitated by something that can. Be said it was, not, responded, to, buy something, Cam. Newton because he said hey we just, want to grind, we'll just go get, a work that was, his Twitter response and then Cam approached him to get and talk to them Men and man, if you will so I think from that, standpoint Cam do what, you were supposed to do. The only thing I would say about that how could been handled. This a little, bit differently let, me just be a football player a guy who likes. Both Cam and k b is I thought that maybe. Either or either. One of those guys called each other because they both have each. Of the numbers and they both know each. The, well and could call on side and dealt with that from that standpoint so that way when it had an, encounter it, wasn't, awkward and, for the world? Sam we also. Saw it but we didn't hear it so we don't know. What was said by either of the parties and you know from b. Standpoint he was saying he wasn't really listening paying attention anyway so it didn't resolve anything by the way it ended it looked like. So I think it's kind of like a non issue move on we don't play them in the regular season yeah, that's, an interesting thought Eugene had. The for the millennial reign call you on the phone Kalyan, phone all school a landline fax a fax something like that If I. Had problem with our call you our call uniform Mikio. Dear friend column. Straight with you know and I hope that you will call me. And that we will take a private time. To, work it out deal because it doesn't need to be for public assumption too much is for public, consumption now, why did, you, use me, as an example You know why Don't let. Don't get up Makeup start running You're gonna take. A short break come back with something that David Langton has planned that will be of interest. To, you all next this is.

"Jay jay wake up horse down to hand off on the fly sweet rose down the it's thirty five thirty five touchdowns todd curley did not have a receiving touchdown coming into this season suddenly he's the best receiving back in the nfl fifty five yards and the rams take time girlie now a seven touchdowns in his first four games status an all time rams recordtying elroy hersh in nine crazy you one marshall faulk had six touchdowns in four games back in two thousand that was greatest show on turf times so he is a he is a weapon in every way now and what's interesting is he leads the nfl now in touches nobody has touched the ball more than todd girlie has this year and what that does is it opens up for all the ever other receivers because you you can't guard gourley with a linebacker whose slow you've got to put either a defensive back or a fast linebacker on gurley and now all of a sudden cooper cup now a single cover get this girlie has been targeted twenty two times as a receiver this year he has made twenty catches right and again and again getting back to our point about your gothenburg how he's managing the game if he's throwing the ball to girlie that means he's not throwing down the field he's throwing clothes easy past is that he can manage and they have in mcvayn ramps are doing something else that i don't think people at home are giving them enough credit for the running a specific play.
