to brain stuff the production of i heart radio hey brain stuff lauren mobile bomb income aliens have built eight pretty solid reputation onto commonly held beliefs that bacon stealthily blend into their surroundings in their ideal subject for iconic eighties anthems but it turns out that one of those post fax isn't quite right in fact everything you things we know about millions and their color changing capabilities is probably backward we spoke with daniel flynn marketing manager of the conservation side of california at the oakland zoo he said the color changing properties of millions don't really have the blend in but rather their natural relaxed state is what helps them lyndon b expression blending in like a million isn't entirely accurate meaning these lizards don't change their appearance to fit in but rather just stand out scientists long believes the comedians change change their coloring similarly to the way octopuses which shades which is why stretching in contracting series of special cells under their skin contain pigments bus making the color more or less pronounced but biologist and physicists somewhat recently we realized that something else entirely is going on with millions they have crystal lake cells under their skin refracted light they're called rid of force and these cells go through structural changes to produce different effects flynn explained anything agitates or exhilarates the million that's when things get colorful he said when they get excited feel threatened or won't display positively towards mates or negatively to a rival the crystals separate or compressed and give off appearance of different colors there's in a twenty fifteen study published in the journal nature communications researchers at the university of geneva in switzerland revealed that rid of force act like tiny mirrors but selectively reflect and absorb different colors why a lot of animals have color patterns birds and fish for example the cells that make their vibrant displays possible typically absorb reflects certain regions of visible light spectrum each cell has it specialty in cells are different for his could actually absorber reflect any and all colors of the spectrum flynn said some species change more colors and others for example some will change shades later the darker well others changed the more vibrant bright colors there are quite a few species so there's a lot of variance among all of them they couldn't change all different types of colors in college that are invisible to the human eye millions mood changes its nervous system activates the sales to contract or expand when the animal is relaxed the cell stay close together together and reflects short wavelengths like blue a russian excitement pushes those cells further apart enabling each credit for to afflict longer wavelengths like red orange and yellow but if the naturally relaxed self reflect blue why are chilled out millions typically green like their surroundings this has to do with pigments sacks inside be rid of force when explained basically when millions relaxed they're naturally visible is green to help them camouflage would be green leaves and trees this is due to the natural yellow pigment combined with a relaxed state of the crystal cells which reflects blue light blue plus yellow equal screen it may not be easy being green but it's necessary for the million which has no real defenses blending in its best bet against predators so if the color changes are dude a special sale under the skin why are these facts external the most layer of communion skin is actually transparent beneath that outer layer live several more layers containing a variety you have specialized skills including be blue and white light reflecting arena fours what's really wild is if the community needs a dramatic quick change like when it's time to show off for potential made it quickly shed its outer layers of skin to expose be ready for us to direct some light in a hurry there's not a ton of research to support it yet but some scientists believe millions color changing abilities also allow them to regulate their body temperature twenty sixteen study demonstrated the bearded dragons alter their hugh based on their body temperature and since millions are after thermes an can't pretend body heat had their stereotypical submitting it's possible that maintaining a dark color allows them to absorb more lights and he today's episode was written by michelle come ski and produced by tyler claim brand says its production the i heart radio AirPods Pro finally ditches Apple's one-size-fits-all approach (The Daily Charge, 10/29/2019)
"Pros customize what your tips and better sound enough to justify that two hundred fifty dollars price tag or are you sticking with your older air pods we breakdown apple surprise announcement of its new headsets stick around the daily charge today is Tuesday October twenty ninth our extended post show with special features audience Q._N._A.. An indepth reviews available now wherever you get your podcasts Asian but a lot of other your buds including Deco buds have noise cancellation yeah that's becoming more of a standard feature earlier this year the air pods pro which really terrible to pronounce brings a completely new design noise cancellation and customizable your tips these changes of course don't come cheap and the air pods pro run for two hundred fifty dollars Scott why why are they dropping actually a significantly different product at a feature that's been available on like basically every other wireless headset out there but do you think that makes these more accessible people that the fact that they can customize it so folks roundup of alternatives to the air pods pro that are less a lot less than two hundred fifty dollars so we could add that later on I just wonder like now are my old air pods so I would be tempted but it's a lot of money yet to fifty is like a another device feels like like yeah that's totally left the so these it didn't matter what your ears shape was like these are their pods and this is it and it finally added customizable tips which I think is the biggest quote unquote innovation here even though this is than the Apple Watch series five right point to gybed I don't know maybe there was an October event that never happened Ryan as the result but these clearly were ready like bigger or smaller ear canals can partake in the air pod revolution yes they will this is where we are now Asians all about losing the the two hundred fifty dollars Richard Express opinions before the show Yeah what'd you think to fifty dollars that's a lot of money I mean I do I have air pods I like them I like them a lot actually oh remote that comes at the one in the box so oh yeah I just I just want to be able to and there are other ones that do that control volume yes you can do it on your watch but you have to have a watch Oh yes and and I'm really sorry because people who had been who had bought air pods now there's a new version they cost me included you that's true let's talk about assery landscape I also want to talk about the fact that for the first time apple with airports is acknowledging that one size doesn't fit all fair positive they're always and so it's interesting to really pay up for that here and there are so many buds now in the landscape by it but but apple has established itself with Air Pods so aware and look at noon press release right here like a month after the iphone event why didn't they just bundle with the bed yet super weird I mean product is more interesting Asian work does it basically just like mute the volume or like it I am curious how that we're supposed to provide a mix that that allows pastor but some noise cancer than having to get new tips and then gung up tips or at least that'll be world of your gunk I think that's part of it I think the noise offing speaking of wearables Google has struggled in these smartwatch arena and could be eyeing a competitor to bolster its efforts a Reuters report has parent alphabet looking to acquire fitbit for a bunch day so I still would also really like a way to have these all charge each other whether it's reverse charging or plugging in easily through the iphone or something nations while right said provides that having those noise cancellation headphones turn off the noise cancellation it's like a little I don't know it's supposed to be a little bit different than that we'll see Erba any sort of event emerging but but also not just that fits research into FDA cleared territory they haven't had anything FDA cleared it but they're supposed to be really close to something in the You know kind of like an Arrhythmia they're also trying to pursue sleep instead of tapping there's a squeeze yeah but what's annoying to me is there's no volume control right there's no there wasn't volume control of the first ones but there is volume control battery life always on thing I think for but to be clear for fitbit was really about acquiring the more of the APP developer ecosystem sense I mean Google had a big hardware event a couple of weeks ago and they had a phone they had a smart speaker they had a router was noticeably missing you like my like une cool and generally are really spot the the length of the tube in if so that's a little thing I'm really interested in how the pass through a transparency with Ezekiel that versus the noise cancelling export watches using a platform that's compatible with both android in Iowa's is is that I mean does this make sense it it certainly makes away and they met on sales may posted lower-than-expected prophets yeah What does that mean in the long run not not affected prophets were because of you know spending spending big on the cloud business and hardware okay but you know I mean the it's kind of like that right but you know hey today I rented battery again ran out of charge on airboats coming in just because I forgot will be interested in that for health tech and then there's the pebble element which is kind of intriguing because they've they acquired they had a ball pebble and now if Google attack that's FDA cleared trite which apple has even gone into territory but Google has been beginning Google fitbit has been pursuing that but you can see where an alphabet Google has a watch yes do you think like you think it conceivable that replaced whereas with the the operation that fitbit runs or now I I'm really the interesting thing about these about this earnings report is that they are facing a whole lot of other problems outside of this and so it's just one more thing that they have to worry about that's a recognizable brand and people will go up here are they see how they sound here how these well we we have these what we can add a link later on but Rick Has Nice Charter Roger Chan I'm Scott Stein I'm rich nigga phase for joining us can't get enough check out the daily supercharge roll the search time posted weaker than expected third quarter results this comes amid a slew of internal problems Ritchie break this all down for us yeah well so they posted earnings it's also concerning this a lot of people in saying if it user what's going to happen to my data very question bulk versus hasn't happened yet so I mean this is like a this is a question before quick to say no but I do think that that fitbit provides a lot of things first of all a lot of data yeah and so if you're looking to get a catch up on on fitness Scott Stein I'm rich never hear today's top stories apple on Monday dropped new pods and they aren't minor upgrades like the wireless charging case are those little APPs that's the part that's probably least interesting to Google because they have their own way of getting them APPs would be my spit ball guess we'll speak it acquires all of it then you still a pebble in there somewhere I don't know whether that nest reverse nesting wearable tech right I kind of want the I still want the lawn really much like nobody Google is not going to go out of business right I'm curious I mean you're on the call you listen to them speak do they talk a little bit about hardware given that they just I said how big hardware vendors about these products did they did they mention anything about how well or
ENCORE: Processing Someone Elses Vision [originally aired, Episode 003] Episode 116
"Hello and welcome to design speaks I M Michelle parted design speaks brandy also part of design speaks is not with us today I mean she kind of is in spirits she kind of you know emulates design is that the right word emanates is a blast from the past because it is from episode three episode three on episode three we talk about what it's like to bring nine speaks so we have some fun stuff in store for you today today we're GonNa talk about well hopefully it's fun it could be boring but I really want to encourage you like if you're a designer or not that like this could be really helpful for you I think I think if you're passionate about it others are going to brainstorming and mind mapping and number three sketching so stay tuned for all of that take notes enjoy have a good cup of coffee while you're listening or don't driving that can be dangerous anyway enjoyed welcome to design speaks this lovely podcast is brought to you by graphic design Geek and a regular human and not necessarily to me but I was there and standing there like should I chime in and finally I did I was like you know I am a believer just getting I don't know if I want my podcast sponsored by jared he's not there anymore well whatever subway and this woman was like another person's idea to life and brandy talks about the three most important aspects of her process number one she talks about her design brief number two from a food vendor subway subway in the morning sponsored by subway note if you want to sponsor US give us call rate kiss mascot color or as much as fifty dollars can give monthly you can give one time whatever you want we can't do this or that you we can't do this without you so go patriot dot com slash and if you think that you can wear and you are comfortable in it and you feel like you look good in it you should rocket just go for it oh and she was like okay way so I think it'll be interesting I kind of I'm interested in it I want to know we wanNA talk about well here's my question and something that I I always ask them to do at the beginning of every class is to write down their process and unfortunately I get like blank stares even from guys welcome I'm brandy and I am Michelle be hey we're like rap stars awesome how do you get into your clients head or whoever it is head and get their idea from their mind from their brain and then put it on paper like how do you start your design and what do you do in between the start and the final product and so when somebody comes to you or emails you and says hey I have this idea please please help me please put it on a piece of paper and make it look the three most important aspects and this is like the key to getting someone's design out of there so thinking over here to the already converted to that train of thought I was the girl who wore blue wigs in green wigs with Tiaras the trust no one wants not well we are across from each other home I if self on the fact that I have kind of simplified my design process in two seven simple steps you can look it up on my I always encourage my students I also teach ps at the local art university I teach design thinking and creative concepts and stuff heads or even just like a basic idea out of their heads in turning it into something that actually has like a tangible element to it so yeah it can be intense favorite things with her favorite person she's traveling with her husband and she's probably headed towards her favorite place which I think is Paris I mean she talks about it like it with passion and fervor and excitement so I speak about design in any other way I don't think so I think that you are able to begin within an any other replace so we'll see after this trip anyway she is traveling doing all that fun stuff so today we have an encore episode coming your way and this one listen guest okay so hold on yesterday I was at the mall and this is sorry off the cuff yesterday purchasing food I wish it was that easy actually it's something you're going to hear me talk a lot about and it basically everything I do relates to my process so I know if something is lacking what step did I miss like did I skip something why can't I get an idea so what the creative brief does in them say yeah that's it that's what I wanted how do you I'm just a sorceress and I just pull it out of them like their soul and that's been ability I do of this show and want to support it so we can keep making more episodes get to our Patriots Patriotic Dot com slash design speaks and you can give as little as one doug this myself design process I have like a case study on there but for today's purposes I'm going to kind of touch on like the the middle part which is like the because I wanted to ask how can you do that I just do want to I don't know so going back to today's topic which you hope it will be interesting I think if you speak about of lake price sheets where it's like a logo can cost anywhere from blank to blank or ranges yeah or even like a brochure will cost zing agencies use this it's not necessarily something that a lot of common graphic designers use and I say common like just people that would say I just do graphic design junior and senior level graphic design students because it's like what do you mean a process a just like make stuff and it sorta like okay well let me explain this not advertisers per se they're working for a business usually for themselves I would probably say this is more of like a freelance thing okay because if you're working for an agency it's how valuable is this somebody I'm not gonNA charge you say the same price for a logo as I would charge adidas if they came just something called value based pricing you don't you don't base your price on just how long it takes you and how much you are an hour how long have you been in business who's your ideal clients so that gives me an idea of not only who the company is that I'm designing for but more importantly to me for some new products in K. because they are going to make money off of my design and I deserve to see some of that and so I have to charge accordingly a honestly who am I trying to get to attract to be attracted by this design so it the brief overall they the this is it asks basically so a client will contact me and they'll say hey I saw your website and I really like your stuff can you do a poster okay so it's it's kind of a bigger deal so the creative brief goes into everything that I would need to know it asks them who are you the woman behind the register it was like I I wanted to wear this this hat but I don't know if I can rock it I don't even know if it looked good and she was talking to a CO worker then go from there and I can quote you because there's there's no way I can actually give you a quote on just can you do poster for me like it just doesn't work that way right so like streamline not only my process in order to explain to my clients why they pay me what they do or whatever but also uh I would bet people money like I saw like sparks light up in my students is when I showed them how to get a design concept upped with a mind map and this goes back to like it all starts with writing for me it's a concept I call us words I it gets fun it's like the fun part it's it's the brainstorming mind map yes mine mapping and I you can't I mean design is communication communication is words with design you communicate with visuals and aside from giving me like a more clear vision of where I'm going with the design it also kind of weeds out the people that are just like look lose like I just awards so it only makes sense that you have your whole process start with words so Sam designing poster for like a have recently mm-hmm and I'll say yeah absolutely if you would fill out this creative brief or may send it back I'll get a better idea of the scope of your design and then we it's also a really good the the first step I want to talk about is called the it's called anything there's a design brief or creative brief whether or not they're serious yeah because because I am purpose I could have made it a lot more simple it could have probably been fifteen questions instead of thirty but you this there's there's something that I another thing you'll hear me say his name a lot because he's a big influence on me that Sean West kind of drilled into me that I've been doing for a couple of years WANNA see how much it would cost to do a logo okay because honestly like a proposal design proposal takes a lot of time because I have to type up the whole thing really put into detail because honestly when you're being paid to do a design and you have a deadline on Friday and it's Wednesday it doesn't matter if you feel creative have to do it you have to do some something so the process really helps you you just kinda go okay well it's like when you're you're sick but you know you need to get dressed and get out to work early there's something called Lincoln account manager they're the ones that talk with the client and save tell me client what do you want they take that to the designer so but when you work on your own you can by the time you're done you should be able to go in and circle key words that will then become your concept okay and then from a play for a theater so where I start with that is the title of the play so we'll just say maybe it's a little mermaid I haven't done one for the Little Mermaid but we'll throw that out there being hey Kia design we hit the chats about music pop culture cool places a basically whatever is relevant so I put that I that's my starting my starting point and then from there it's just like a Web Lake when your English class you start there and you move all around power thesaurus is that what is it power it's an accom- oh it's an it's an APP that they act I was I don't know side note I was tweeting about my process there you go to the next phase which is sketching and you get to sketch out all of the ideas that relate back to those words you chosen the mind map not feeling very well but you know you have to do it so you just you start you know you get up Outta bed you brush your teeth you do the things that you have to do and eventually you get to work okay so connection yeah so everything leads one to another and it's it's a foolproof way to like regardless of if you're quote feeling creative really I opening for them to see like whether they have a process or not on what that looks like and then I kind of helped them fill in those holes so I I kind of pride get someone's idea and make it my own and give it to them and show them in real life like what it would look like which I think is a perfect segue into the song for today some of our inspiration something that you listen to all of the time it's sleeping it lasts Yeah Ryan nail he's a big he's a big one for me so and he has a briefly yeah I think it to be brief yeah well I'll try and make it brief because it's kind of a thirty question sort of thing but I'll give you an idea a lot of advertisers thank you and I was I walked away just like filling like I encourage someone motivating myself yes I'm it's so true yeah to have to become all the things okay makes sense so you're your own account manager your own accountant like you do all the stuff so I decided that I needed to what I'm doing for them and what they're paying for so that they understand and so that's something I do for free at a lot of people do charge for their proposals people say crazy in him song as you love me who you backstreet boys you know I saw them in concert a few years ago a few years ago like hey all the love to backstreet boys but not nearly as much love toback surprises in sync toys grade I saw backstreet boys a few years you were probably like six in the ninety S I was also a little bit older and I'm just going to say right now with you and have you do one and we could come up with a concept oh my together that sounds terrifying but at the same time I don't know how you it sounds like fun which you know let's do it those are kind of like the three really key elements to the process and I eventually would really like to go into detail with those I mean I could sit here ago like in the late in like twenty tens so like what was like twenty thirteen two thousand fourteen share I saw them and I only saw them because I was in emails you talk see you give them a brief and that helps you figure out what they want and how much it's how much time it's GonNa take what it's GonNa cost but also talk about how I'm one of his Composer like albums of you know just music keeps me motivated in a huge motivator for both of us in a lot of ways music is what brings us together yes it is sometimes music tears us apart they don't you don't have a flat rate no yeah there is like no such thing as a flat rate and in design world or just free for me I mean lots of people have anthony with our music but it was really it just worked the I was really fitting to play like a cover by somebody music wise we always want to play music on this show 'cause it's rex and really makes it visualizes it through his own eyes really funky eighty s B to like this really emotional like thought-provoking well it's interesting that hopefully will be in there actually so that's that's kind of like a brief whittling down seven steps to like the three primary ones and how like happens in this life anyways so I really I listen to sleeping at last a lot if you listen to the first podcast you'll see now I'm never going to be in sync better go see backstreet boys before they all like kills her sad but that was as long as you love me don't and so I figure if they are willing to get past the study questions like it's okay like I can send them that for free okay so that's the first part the second part is work sues always and a friend of mine even an hey young yeah that weren't there before yeah so it it's very similar to design what he does is take someone else's vision someone else's it's a cover by sleeping at last you WanNa talk a little bit about it yeah so you chose this song I don't know that we're all like I said before like I dunno for always GonNa be this like when he slows it down and you know he has he's doing his thing that you hear the lyrics and you're like wow those are deep lyric I never heard that before the emotions he brings out within the he he bears all and I really appreciate that I am a here through his music and a lot of it is pretty smelly everywhere he was in a super bowl commercial a few years ago or his song was he's all over like grey's anatomy like all every season and one really cool thing I think what makes me in Cali sad sadly chill chill is a good word I guess some of it makes me sad because you like pop music must not say that though anyways like beeps a you guys maybe witness to some crazy stuff ever really need is pen paper and at the source we don't I mean we have the source dot com well that's what I use so perfect okay oh you're in the year two thousand seventeen yeah I actually use something called take he brings his style to it and that's something else that's interesting about design and I have a friend slash brother slash plays shock and awe was on my face just now surprise yeah maybe sleeping it lasts can do a beeps cover I'm surprised guys we have so much to talk about and I'm really excited and we like to talk so I hope you like to listen and interact with us at some point quick shot out to vesper teen for being is he hasn't that's really weird maybe they wanna pay enough of the rights Oh yeah that's probably a thing see things like that I don't even think about that's probably sleeping at last so much more is that he's really good with his fans he has a he has a newsletter that he sends out and he's really intentional about he communicates with these like hey it's kind of like that so those are those are the three things there's a lot that goes into each of those things and I've I've written extensively on my blog about him and we can go into a more than other show but shallow waters yeah ooh cold water by Justin Bieber it's not just in Bieber's featuring Justin Bieber oh see collaboration there's another thing yeah that's me right I also just love how he can turn like a a pop song or you know a real yeah we can talk about we can talk about design ethics and other day yeah so I think I think man we've we've covered some good stuff today when a little deep but not too deep were in like mid co-worker over the years who's told me that he can pick out my designs anywhere which means I like have a style and I can pick out sleeping at last anywhere and he's just got you come you on to miss to chew the EP I don't think it is but this dude is talented and he is he's blowing up right now to let us use his song for our show designs speaks the next time say later a whole album of he's actually got to he's got two albums and they're all really fun to listen to but here's a this one only the amazing part of our show intro Atra Songo checkout vesper tune if you have not yet this is gosh he's got an EP out right now along with another song the I don't know if it's considered linked to you've got this all right guys dispel all right it's been good it's been real good real that was the wrong point okay it is the beep sing anything sad yeah okay yes he has an acoustic album come out best routine alright so at this week we would like to know what your questions are on process do you have one mean aside from his voice just his style and he takes someone else's vision and kind of makes it his own and that's yeah that's what we did is designers to in this guys at all care who way she emulates whatever anyway she's here with us here in spirit today but not physically because she is doing one of her us and power thesaurus was like hey you should try us can eat and I did and I liked them mace so powerless the source yeah take that take note friends or visit our show notes you have any questions about what we talked about or is this a brand new car yeah is it

How Can Christs Death Pay for Someones Sin?
"Wreck Delia dish where we provide a quick according to the Ministry of striving for eternity sometimes people challenge you with the question of how can one fine say you're speeding on the road and the judge issues you a fifty dollar fine but you don't have fifty dollars someone else can pay it is for our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin so that we might become the righteousness of God now that person has to have the money and be willing to freely give it but this is a jail sentence well that can be as well you can pay the jail like that's not fair just and a lot of people challenge this however this is nothing that's not unusual with the law if you get a without certainly seems like the death that Christ paid on that cross was a payment for the sin that I committed and it seems the person has to be willing to let you it's no different with Christ he is in the right state of mind he knew what he was doing he was willing to do it. We person's death pay the price of another person's crime or sin in other words how can Christ's death on the cross be a pain aiming for the sin that you and I do when we break God's law where criminals yet we end up seeing in Scripture Second Corinthians five twenty one time person now there are some rules with it you have to be in right state of mind you have to be innocent of the crime you have to be willing to do it ahead Oh have to receive that gift. Must-Have Camera Gear for Photography Beginners
"Is brought to you by plex plex offering twit listeners thirty day free trial of plex pass go to play dot TV slash twit code twit just getting started in photography here my three must have to help you along your way he's he's this episode of hands on tech to be able to find and subscribe to all our tech show's thanks for watching hands on. I know when I put my camera up here it is going to be locked down and secured I don't have to worry about it fallen off just just in case the wind blows or something like that and price ranges and so forth but you have to understand the purpose of the Tripod for example this is my tripod it's not a travel trailer one hundred fifty dollars a so price in depends on the time of the year I guess but again you get solid construction extra clamps extra security and you man Frodo mix it doesn't matter it's a mini tripod in only twenty bucks very very worth the by has the quarter twenty three on the bottom it will the world of photography and share my three must have items to sort of help step your game up when it comes to your photography so let's in a hold up I recommend spending at least fifty bucks if you're going to get a full sized tripod don't spend anything less than that dynamic shot the key with any of these tripods though is the pricing when you started out in photography you learn man photography is in his spins and it still serves the same purpose but it just gives you a lower angle and it gives you a few different on generation that you can play with to to give you a little more of a in your tripod for a couple of reasons if you spend not enough money on your tripod more than likely you're going to keep buying tripods because the tripods or not but the main thing is to make sure that camera is not going to move on top of that ball hit you also have a little mini tripod such as this one here tripod Knicks let's move on over two lenses I have two different lists here okay again I understand no my cameras not gonNA shake when I'm trying to set up some beautiful nighttime long exposures so that's tip number one get yourself a nice quality suspensive to get into photography but fair not this is a what we call a prime lens normally when you buy a camera it comes with the this mini tripod right here is not is not expensive of all this is actually a pretty popular one from the folks that man Frodo and we'll put some links in the bottom of this video and this is shake during the camera shutter movement that's the big thing on US tripod to set up your shot for landscapes or long exposure as a things of that nature look into just about any camera that you have now my standard Tripati it's going to cost a little bit more this one is another man Frodo and it's going to run you roughly variance when you spend a little bit less you start having issues with the legs on a tripod getting bent in not being stable enough to keep your camera steady was always and this is hands on tech here on twit DOT TV thanks for stopping in well I wanted to talk to the folks out there it's just getting started up there in that camera happens to fall off you spend more money on a new tripod and on a new camera so spend a little bit more on your tripods art. This is big sturdy aluminum but its purpose is to make sure my camera is secure and safe not gonNA fall off and not go on take a look at them real quickly here first and foremost my must have is a tripod and I'll try can come into many different sizes shapes and talks with it but move on to the next level with the Prime Lance a Lotta Times with the Kit Lens you're going to get a zoom a prime liz got how to properly frame up your shot with your fixed focal went this is a popular nifty fifty if you look on any photographers with your camera and get outstanding photography if you want to step it up a little bit more this is another Prime Lens but notice the difference inside leads you don't get the same quality of glass you don't get the same quality of build quite honestly with the Kit Lens you can't take some nice not gonNa give you zoom this is good because it's going to help you become better photographer understand composition when you have a Zoom Lens you can sort of cheat aperture but again you have a better quality of glass in this one versus the glass in the fifty fifty so you're going to spend a few more bucks on this one unity you're going to see the mention of nifty fifty this one in particular from Canon has F stop of one point eight so it is great for low light shots a hobby trust me I know I've learned but the thing is sometimes you have to in this my advice to you do not skimp out shots and it all comes at a low price of roughly one hundred fifty dollars for under two hundred bucks you can get an upgrade to kit lens that came is and if you could feel it through the lens here this is a little bit heavier than this nifty fifty this is an eighty five millimeter cannon still has that F one point eight and if you want to do some portrait shots you're going to get a beautiful shallow depth of field behind your subject which is that creaming blurry background that you see you in portrait organize and stream your personal collection of movies TV shows music and more as well as enjoy live TV dvr all for free plexus offer eighty and it comes with the Linz formerly known as a Kit Lens the Kit Liz is okay to have to start out with but there are some limitations with the kid twit to start your free trial of Lex Pass today does plex dot TV slash twit lastly I don't care what camera you're using you can have stop does episode of hands on take brought to you by plex plex brings together all the media that Madison you in a single APP on any device no matter where you are you can twit listeners a thirty day free trial plex pass which gives you access all of their premium features go to plex dot TV slash twit an inner coat on how you set up your shot using the problems not only are you going to get the benefits of glass and better manufacturing is going to force you to think outside the box and and I'll put a link to the description discipline as well but is definitely not a hundred and fifty dollars a so so that's tip number two step up from that kid also the ball or mounts on top of the tripod sometimes ninety securities needed to be so if you have cheap tripod and you put your emmer does not have an adequate light source so my second tip is get yourself an additional light source some people like to go out and buy hot shoe Lynne's get yourself a prime lens get yourself used to figuring out how to get the best shot with a set focal length and take the advantages of the Higher Ed smartphone you can have a standard DSL are like what I have here or you can have the best camera in the world that means absolutely nothing pot or if I'm filling somewhat creative I can sit it off to the side somewhere in another spot of my composition you can have a lot of asked to put on top of that camera and that's fine and well they're good good uses for that for my purposes I like to use a constant light source like this one here title double as or Lithium Ion rechargeable batteries there's a gazillion of them out there and roughly spend about twenty bucks what I enjoy listen Ila delight panel and it's not gonna Flash but it does come with the advantage of having a cold shoe why can mount on the top of my camera mattered onto a tree this one is it is super duper tough I have had this cube for a little over a year now I've dropped it I've thrown it just to see if I could try to destroy it don't is the pricing and you can just easily slap it into your backpack without a problem so to super duper portable on the other end of that spectrum right on the bottom so you get again mounts tripod and sit anywhere in your composition to give it an additional light source the beauty of it also comes with a few diffusers jails to change the light source so if you need your light to look a little bit warmer you can use these little jails the put on the front of it in lecture source up it even allows you to connect it to your mobile phone and you can control delight with your mobile phone through its mobile app you have something ultra portable such as dislike this is the loom cube air balloon cube air is another great light source it also has a quarter twenty three me on this be sure to check out more photography tips on my show hands on photography as well as some discussions on focus on photography and it takes a beating quite well it even has a super strong magnet on the back just in case you WANNA amount it somewhere to light a particular source you don't necessarily have to have it at four power you can adjust the power down to a quarter or half whatever your particular framing asked for all right uses bluetooth to handle all of that some people like to set it up as a strobe so in a flash on click or you can just again play with the intensity of the light awesome my three picks your must have forgetting started in the world of photography these three little tools will help your photography game totally Ramp Up Trust Hey folks how you doing I am an cruet hope. You're doing well unbelievable. Both shows are found right here on twitter that TV up with all the hottest tech news and gadgets visit twit dot TV fund and give your camera a lot more to work with because you given adequate liked these little lights are early in their will last a long time you can get some that.
Larry Magid: Apple Is Making It Easier For Independent Repair Shops To Fix iPhones
"There was a time when all young people want to be pro athletes or celebrities. Today's dreamers want to be entrepreneurs. If this is you than the new case was startups. Nigger is your issue. It's sophisticated sleek lightweight and made a premium leather designed to take you from the office to the airport to social events in other words comfortable and stylish rush just right for the hustle. The case was starting to get yours today. Only available at case was dot com larry. I think it fell asleep maxwell well. They're creating hitting a wider network of authorized repair services by allowing independent repair shops to become authorized to get genuine you in part to get training to get certification. There are lots and lots of people who fix apple products in the bay area full of these shops that fix max and fix iphone replace screens a very few of them are certified. Most of them are completely independent who knows where they get their parts so this gives apple not only the ability to vet these people but also oh to sell parts to them which is good for apple because they're selling parts and good for consumer. It's big. They're getting genuine. Apple parks instead of parts that came from who knows where leary my right that this only pertains pertains to out of warranty repairs yeah warranty repairs would be handled by apple but i had out of warranty repair i had spilled coffee on my macbook air not a pleasant thing to do and i took it to apple and they wanted incredible amount of money to fix it so i took it to a local play. Fake probably didn't use genuine parts but they did fix it for a fraction of what apple apple would've charged in work if i took it back and they became one of these folks they would use genuine parts and that would be even better and i assumed when i heard the story this morning i got all excited. Oh you know we're gonna get a repair for much less money. Assuming the price the you know the those out of network dealers that the prices will stay low <music> but what if apple charges an arm and a leg for those parts now and and then you don't get a big break on my gift that they will continue to be independent stores that are independent of apple. That aren't part of this this deal but you're absolutely right. I mean replacing an iphone screen can cost you anywhere from fifty dollars to a couple of hundred depending upon the screen depending upon where you go but it is nice to know. You're getting the right part so i if it were me. I'd wanna look at one of these independent dealers. I would hope i get a good price but i'd also hope i'd get good repair.

Episode 89 Too Much WordPress Stuff?
"Welcome to the wordpress photography podcast the podcast for photographers who want to learn how to get the most out of wordpress to grow their photography business you don't need to be a geek to understand wordpress settled back and listen as we show you how now here's your host Scott Widen Kipah wits and so can your host I know that might sound discouraging but that's part of the risk that comes with using an open source product record with testimonials coming out their ears with discussions on social media with a lot of customers companies who engage with their community and public and whereas master would cost fifty dollars once and you can use it forever I homemade but even it has its problems meltzer is another exception while security issues sure adding a plugin can create a security issue if the plugin has vulnerabilities but so can your theme I'm too much stuff to wordpress is good is it bad what are the risks why do it dot com slash podcast slash eighty nine with your thoughts what are your thoughts on plug ins that could remove other services sold on theme forest or Code Canyon due to various reasons typically the code quality isn't up to where it should be with one today's episode I am going to discuss with you and share some thoughts in my comments on those thoughts from others. You didn't do what I needed which explain later it is a very well made products so the first comment I received stated that Eddie realized I should have recorded a podcast episode about it long ago so that's what I'm doing right now the topic is quote any wanting to add more stuff to their wordpress site in this example mail chimp or Miller lite might cost someone fifty dollars a month products sold their however in some cases there are exceptions for example the popular theme ex-team sold on theme forest is place to make sure you're secure no matter what only use themes in plug INS from reputable companies companies with a proven track thanks for example in the topic of the facebook group a person was looking to save money from their email marketing software. Something I've been before I dive in into what others say and then add my thoughts I wanNA point out that I'm personally not a fan of buying or using any product first we want to know do you care about adding stuff to your press cite comment on the show notes page at Imagery Ching for a very long time I pointed them in the direction of a specific plugging called master and someone else commented event not want subscriptions that you have do you keep your wordpress site lean and clean or do you add things that you feel you need or want in place of more expensive thing like wordpress they're more chances you're okay and safe and secure than you are vulnerable but here's senator more stuff Ed's potential security issues and bloat for server backup I want to break that down now I what thousand is not a lot a hundred thousand is definitely a lot and a million is like gold think about it if a plug in was vulnerable I'm doing security hardening in scanning regular basis when choosing from free plug INS use ones that are in a lot of sites hundred is not leases Mike in a podcast or form or facebook groups or elsewhere on social media use a host that has your back by offering backups is slim look can happen it happened with our free plugin next-gen gallery the we have a team of developers to fix things like that the near greater chances of a hundred people were thousand people having security issues but the chances of a security issue for one hundred thousand or a million developers then it seen by users and it's used but the funny thing is typically each individual has their own definition or idea word fence or security can monitor your site for security issues and recommend changes to make or recommend fast so we do when there is a security issue brought to our attention it's fixed within a day typically sometimes within an hour okay let's move on to the topic bloat bloat is a word that get thrown around a lot especially from wordpress with cloud having backups done the server side means less strain on your site the size of your site shouldn't matter at this point for people who need a plug in for backups I used to recommend backup buddy many years ago but the size of a site played a huge what bloat is in the case of this comment in the facebook group it appears as though the comment was referring to the size of the site backups gins to remove it will tell you when something is out of date something doesn't match up to what is in the the Repo that were pressed directory mm-hmm which will send one send to one of many cloud options including Google drive what this means is the initial backup so I wanted to address that right now hopefully your host is doing your backups and securing them off site somewhere like in Amazon take a while but then every day after that it will only backup what's changed his new comments then the database will be backed up with the new comments food role in the failures for backup buddy then discovered WBZ time capsule which acts like Apple's time machine it's an incremental backups since I did that earlier but the plugin incompatibility thing can be a real hassle I definitely agree but my answer to that would be similar then pushed to our listeners and the fourth thing I wanNA bring up about security is you can install a security plugging if your host is not do this for you a plugin so the amount of data being backed up is always small you can even set the schedule to back up when your site has the least amount of traffic so if you the first comment shared concerned about plugging in Cabal incompatibility and security I won't touch on the security aspect are there new images role then the new images will be uploaded is there a theme change well then the theme will be uploaded to your backup burst of my facebook group the were pressed for photographers group about their thoughts on this so now I wanna move onto some of those comments the plug in Fort like apple tagline there's an APP for that the same could be said for wordpress if you can think it there's likely a plug in for it when we're press is specifically designed to add plug ins for additional features however she then talked about how next and gallery is bloated for from your Google analytics at one. Am Your time has the least amount of traffic that is when you set your backup I asked them it's super bloated for someone who just wants to add media to a daily block post but it's not so bloated for someone who wants to run a large image server it's very similar to another for example having to Google analytics plug INS can be a problem having to Mel Chin Plug Ins plugging with your site first before putting it on your life site you typically won't have compatibility issues unless one plug into something that is this member for her take on the word bloat she said anything the should be written into the original wordpress code in the first place apply okay she's saying that anything that isn't part of where press itself pre plug INS is booked for that off to strongly disagree again that has a lot of features when only one is needed because all of that code is sitting on a server and not being used let's use next Gen Gallery for an example Komo options just use the block editor it's Gallery Block is actually pretty awesome you don't need a plug in but if you want something more with deep control over still wouldn't call that bloat I'd call that more of a practical thing even an image Lee we don't recommend our own product for people who need one guy one who needs a simple image on a post but not for someone who needs more of an image management solution and for that a half to agree however ages on a regular basis and to organize manage display proof or sell those all the time does it make next one gallery bloated speed the last comment I wanNA share is from someone in the photo industry who also creates images sites for photographer he says we're pressed is everything next gallery is your best option now there's something else that was said the whole thing about code sitting on the server and not being be a problem if one isn't coded correctly as soon as it happened numerous times the next comment was one about bloat and adding a plugin because mentioned earlier bloat is up in that gets thrown around a lot by a lot of people but each person has their own take on what bloated really is in her no it makes it a product that is specific that has specific use cases if you want a simple gallery actives trying to use it as a male chimp replacement is not good in my humble opinion in addition to the bloat you also have to worry about deliverability and alary forever or for people only need to add individual images to post or pages we recommend are plug in for people who work with a lot of the this on their websites also in general the more plugged into your have on the site the more doors you have to keep an eye on she is interesting take on the word bloat used because you see plug ins like Nixon Gallery which are coded for optimization yes the code is sitting there on the server but nothing is being once could be the perfect solution male stor y while I did like some things about it which get to in a moment is a really good solution for displayed or something is being used in the back end to manage gallery or something like that when you're actually utilizing the plugin that is

"Full Body chills is brought to you by simply safe it can person who listens to spooky podcasts but you can be spooked faster than any other home protection system there around the clock monitoring starts FBDC you'll get free shipping and a sixty day risk free trial dot com slash FTC high listeners this man I would babysit for family and then family friends and pretty soon word was very patient as a teenager so good with kids and far too chicken alcohol-free good long while so I was the ideal base at Levi's available for Sunday night now this is summer break so I was available pretty much Mike was fifty dollars a night but parents were a usually a bit sometimes my mom or dad had to pick me up if the parents were drunk or the house's really far they also offer to pick me up for my house to get to their place which was about a good forty minutes away A. B. and he even try and meet the couple of he was able to so Sunday was with me because back then I was a good little nerd and I always did my homework as soon as I got it would say like eat whatever you want so we leave and my dad drops me go in he drives off but the door opens and it's this old then out of nowhere a man is like running up to us about forty thank God I didn't miss you and he's gesturing to his car and telling this old that's our new address now looking back charming or something and I didn't want to see weird or be rude so I got in the car in which by the way was the nicest house ever seen it was like super modern sort of angular and she is apologizing to me as well the same story Blah Blah Blah and she cries she's a very light sleeper so we will be really upset if you super groomed and here I am and my Grubby sweatpants with a messy bun they show now I found his strange that not only do they not want me to wake their daughter but they hadn't even fall asleep full of pizza and asking me to tell him yet another story the only other so for this baby I just sort of sat there feeling cold in his big tips instead of plane and these chocolate biscuits but they smelt super weird is probably really lucky that I didn't now I decided to read and I decided to see if there was anything else to eat and so I go looking for the kitchen which I eventually and the cupboards were also really empty there were no bottles of milk no jars Peter the houses very dark and most of the doors were locked which wasn't too on that note I hadn't heard a peep from upstairs at this point so I made the decision that I need to go upstairs now the we need a baby gate for if they had an infant so I second door locked every single room was hurt like she's locked in now who locks an infant in their room like protocol him I realized that the address he had was the one of the janiking even more and just kind of freeze in the dark hallway until I decide I walked the front door and try it but it's been deadlocked now I probably could have called the police at this point but I had no address to give them so was shaking hands I went to the living room and started to pack my stuff in my backpack a window after window and all of them were locked to and at this point I swore off but I didn't feel safe anymore like something in me felt like I was going to the door being unlocked the back door and I just froze ready to creep shaking the whole way through the dark kitchen and then into the laundry trying not to be sick stopped I thought my heart was going to pound through you work the wife will be waiting outside of the covered with a kitchen knife but I opened it anyway they'd be after me any second I didn't even look back I just ran through the Front Garden Down The hold my dad absolutely his steerable every car that drove when my dad arrived I told him the story and I have street name when I was running away had nothing to give them other than a description hours trying to help me remember the house just couldn't I'd been too and they still have my phone number I mean I never heard from them because I changed Louis from an unknown number of course and when I picked up the phone I guess I'm hoping it's just some kind of prank caller messing with me Performed by me and our theme was created by Justin Daniel. This story was sure to come back tomorrow so I can tell you another

R. A. I. G. Now we're going to geek out on some numbers here in a minute to help illustrate how the math can work in some of these deals but you're allergic to math or just live to see all those columns at a neat tidy like I do if you're selling any type of service you're GonNa want to check out our sponsor fresh books dot com in free and I got to meet travelers from all around the world and some of them still friends with in in touch with today so it was a great experience overall and as long as you don't mind on Airbnb while I made like a quasi bedroom out of my living room opening of occur in a room divider and putting a tom behind that and so I sat behind that for a year and had a revolt living behind a curtain in your living room you're set exactly so with the goal there to say like okay this has it my my own bedroom that is I'm not using it to my full potential another person in here just curious the thought process that went into that so my goal was that I really wanted to completely eliminate my living expense and I was not doing that by just running up top and having the whole bottom units myself and I knew that most people on airbnb indoor of airbnb guests coming into my house every few days for the whole year and it's actually really great that allowed me to more the government mortgage I was living for much less probably would not want to sleep on my couch so I decided to just make the bedroom the one that AIRBNB and slept behind the curtain and I got some actually a little bit of inspiration from a friend out in San Francisco when I was living out there who was doing that as well but she had two kids as well behind that curtain in the living room so I think if she could do it I could definitely do it a little bit of a sacrifice but after that you kind of adapt and you say well this is my life now it's like having grown up in Seattle everyone is like isn't it so rainy the crazy thing a place to stay and when Airbnb you have the full house option or you have the private room option as long as advertise correctly as private room they knew that that was exactly what they and I did it for a year and after the first week or do you really kind of get used to it and that just kind of becomes your bed and best that and it's it's totally worth like the hustle and how much money you're making from it so worth it I think that's the important thing to note here actually a couple of things the first is like the first couple of weeks eight this is kind of weird it feels like especially if they're alone and so it was kind of Nice to make some friends that way what was a typical nightly rate or maybe an average monthly take home from that I would say on unit you're living better than free yet my mortgage payment on that property was about two thousand and my rent was about twenty eight hundred that was average was about eleven hundred a month in the summer it was closer to fifteen hundred and in the winter it was probably like seven or eight hundred between that income in the rental income from the topic wanted any what they were getting you know there wasn't any surprises and very few people thought it was weird very few people were surprised and most people actually really like to just have someone to talk to you the problem in getting bookings now man it was it was filled almost every single day and most people that came in were younger for the most part so they kind of understood that is one of the cheaper the part about like sounds like it was pretty well occupied where people are like oh the dude who owns it is just GonNa be right here in the living room I was a young professional moving to Denver not low rent city not a low price city in contrast you could have been spending fifteen hundred to two grand a month on your own easily if you wanted that's yourself up nicely for some early retirement financial independence like if that's your ultimate goal down the road you've accelerated that curve tremendously just by cutting this one it's like growing up there you don't notice it like that's just how life is and it's only when you move away and then come back and you're like Oh is that why is it always so wet here so I think that's really interesting and acting between both wow that's awesome yeah it was a brand new property too so I knew there was gonna be too many fixes in the future so I knew that okay I was going to set aside two hundred and fifty dollars place totally of your own instead you've completely erased that line item and started to build well that's of course you know because the power of compounding like Ruiz things that you can imagine extremely loudly and there was also a dog in that bedroom that was like barking squeaking toy all at the same time in airbnb nightmares or people that you really didn't want to be spending the night with they were very very few I mean some people I was annoyed with it would be very beneficial for you if you can hold it for a year in the year timeline was for the requirements on owner occupied note that's right exactly just
Ep. 510 - Trent365! - Behaviour : Reward or Change?
"Today, five hundred ten of transfer sixty five behavior to reward or to change. Just finished a really interesting meeting with my buddy from MasterCard. We catch that whenever he's in town. And you know, of course, his objective is to try and get people to use their MasterCard. More often to pay for things he doesn't want people use their visa card or the digital wallet. Or even cash and that's objective. And as we were talking about the different strategies and programs and marketing that he's putting in place to try and make that happen. I realized that what we were talking about is trying to change people's behavior. We'll give you fifty dollars off. If you go to this hotel spa and pay with your MasterCard. And we'll give you one hundred dollars off. If you go and stay married hotel, and usual mascot now. What struck me is that instead of focusing on on encouraging people to change their behavior to make a new behavior. Why don't we reward the people who've already come and the approach would be may give you fifty dollars off on Unix visit or you get the free upgrade? Aide on your next visit. And so you've already made the behavior you've already made the decision to come to the spa. Great. We're going to reward that behavior. Why will because we want you to tell people about it. We want you to come back. Again, we want you to maybe spend more money next time, we want you to be with us in the long term. So I think this idea of maybe rewarding behavior versus changing behavior is an interesting approach to take from in terms of trying to grow your business because I think I think what we do most times as we tend to look at. How do we get new customers head we get new business? And that makes sense, of course. But I do believe that it's much harder to you know, if people don't want to come to the spa, they don't gonna come. It doesn't matter how cheap it is. It doesn't matter. What discount you're gonna give them? They're not gonna come. If they don't wanna come. And so to give someone who actually already wants to come to the spa another reason to come back and another reason to talk about it. I think that's a much smarter way to deploy your your money to deploy your cash and your marketing spin in. Advertising spanned rather than trying to change behavior. How about we look at rewarding behaviour, I think that's not a bad long-term strategy. And I think you find also that you'll spend less money trying to reward the behavior then you will to try and change behavior. Because if you want me to change my behavior, I need a few times to be reinforced that I should be changing their behavior. But if you're going to reward behavior, I'm already doing well, you don't need to spend much to say work. I'll come back again just the thought it was a really interesting approach was a different mindset to what we'd been speaking about the whole day, and we just stopped and said, well, hang on how about if we were ward instead of change. So I think when it comes to behavior think about how you can reward it rather than change it already. Let's thanks shooting. You know will be back again tomorrow. So yeah. So. Yeah. Altron?
Essence: The True Self
"Thank you to today's supporter. Lincoln. We continue today speaking about quarter in court south. While we explored the questions to identify your soul profile or the truth. What really is the true self? The truth is beyond the condition mind, the condition mind gives rise to that, which we call our self image or ego identity and even to Bush nalty. So the truth is prior to all conditioning. It's the wonder and the joy and the excitement in the curiosity and the love and the playfulness you see in a child even before language starts to create concepts and notions and provisional identities. Our ego identities. Provisional it's also called our self image. It's our I would say mental selfie just like we have physical trophies. When you take photos of our body. We have a mental selfie, which we call the ego mind, there's a part of the brain called the default mode network that gets activated when we squeeze ourselves into that identity that is literally squeezed into the volume of body in the span of a lifetime. But of course, we all know that the self is not the south in the same way, the eagle self image is not the true south the truth of is the absolute identity that we have which is beyond all conditioning. The truth is a field of infinite possibilities is feel of infinite correlation and synchronicity his unpredictable. It's creative is the source of insight imagination, intuition, high-vision and transcendence. The true self is formless being and being formless. It is infinite and not subject to birth in debt. By transcending to. That level of existence. We know ourselves as timeless immortal beings capable of anything that we can imagine. And even more when we are grounded in the true south. We have to self esteem. Self image is not as steam. Today has been privileged to be with you continuing a week on the soul and the self. I can see today's supporter Lincoln recognizes these important concepts helping employer's and employee's in finding the best fit for their to identity, and I'm happy to share an offer of this post job today at Lincoln dot com slash daily breath and get fifty dollars off your first job post. That's Lincoln dot com slash daily. Brett, terms and conditions apply. Now to return to today's program understanding, the true identity as I left off when we are grounded in the true south. We have to self-esteem. Reflect on this today as you find yourself at work at home on the street in the car with family, friends or colleagues. Your identity is absolute. And you know, it best.
