Joining us non Facebook having governor if you're gonna get reelected, you better get another Facebook page. You need help from Facebook? Actually, you don't. I'm just being a Yeah, I'm actually I'm surprisingly I'm good. Okay. I mean, it's I joined in 2009. Wasn't real heavy on it, and then probably About 2013 14. I got really heavy and talking about my politics. And then it just exploded. I don't know. Yeah, Yeah, well, now it's a little just so you know, D has been kicked off Facebook. I don't know if it'll be temporary or not. We will find out for calling Alex our fight Fake president as the authoritarian dictator. He is Facebook kicked the off. So can you believe you guys tomorrow? 9 11 20 years. It's been 20 years and If you go back 20 years to that day, let's go 20 years and one day Um and go to, you know, back to 9 10. Oh, one. And you think from that day and even even well, you can even go 9 11, You know, 20 years later, I guarantee nobody thought we would be World war at as far as this world goes right now, 20 years ago today, September 10th 2001 was the last day This was truly an independent. Uh, Republic, uh, that gave us the rights and freedoms that we were basically could do whatever we want ever since then, that since that day past September 11 pass We have slowly watched our freedoms be stripped away, and a lot of people are at least that you know, they seem to not care because they go well. At least we never had another 9 11 on on U. S soil. Well, what's it worth to you? I guess it would be my question. Obviously, we're grateful. Nothing big's happen, right? I am very good. I don't want to see thousands of Americans lose their lives over anything because of this day this day this exact day 20 years ago on 9 10 There were so thousands of people who for the last time saw their loved ones, and that's it. That's it for them. It was finite boom over. You know, that's that was the last day that they saw and they got up the next day to go to work. And then that's it. I mean, it's it's really just to think about that is chilling. Um, I had just closed on my first house on 9701. So I was four days into the new house didn't have cable yet or anything, And this all starts happening in the morning. As you know. And there I went down the street to Damon's the place for ribs and started watching, Young told I watched everything unfold right there and the whole place. You could just hear everybody gasp! And I'm telling you, it was silent in that place. During. I'm not kidding. Half an hour would go by. You wouldn't hear so much as a peep. People are listening to every word of all of the reports watching the that awful footage of the You know, collectively, 200. It would be what 220 floors twin buildings that ended up in a pile of metal and concrete. Just crazy. Ironically, that day I was getting my information because we had just moved in. And had a party at our off campus place. Me and my best friend. And I got a phone call from my mom waking me up and I'm all I'll just say I'm hungover and groggy like what are you talking about? What? Like I'm thinking I'm having drunk and this is I'm I'm dreaming this Bad dream and, uh, you know, And ironically, I was this was before even had any idea I was going to go to broadcasting school or end up talking on this station, but I was listening to I had to tune into 6 10. And and both Connors and and and the he stayed on and then I think people there's so many old personalities that were there. And I remember Corby came on early, but that this was my outlet that day. Because we didn't have TV. The do you remember? I do that day. I was working in corporate banking at 5th 3rd downtown office, State Street and I remember coming down. The elevator. We had like a little shop where you can get some snacks and stuff so and in the lobby. When you walk in the fifth year building, there was the concierge right there. And then there's TVs above the desk. And I remember walking down and I saw everybody standing around the T. V and I just so looked up. I'm like what happened there like a plane ran into the, uh, the top twin towers. And I'm in my first thought was what an idiot right like thinking it was Some idiot that made a mistake. And so then I went on. I went back to the, um, to get my snacks in the shop. And then by the time I came back, another plane hit the second building. And then I'm like, and it didn't dawn under me What was happening at the moment? I'm like, man, that is wow, what is going on? So I went upstairs, and it was the day Jay Z's blueprint album came out. So after that I drove over to Eastern to get the album and I remember I couldn't make a phone call couldn't text nothing was coming through. Nothing was going through and I'm like, man, This is crazy, but it took me some time to finally It fought to hit me and then I got angry. And it was days later, for some odd reason. It was wild, then the Pentagon and then flight 93 in Pennsylvania. They end up running into the ground, and it's The way that it all unfolded. A lot of people thought it was the end of the world. I remember hearing that I remember Jenny. I was dating her at the time, and she was his cry and she was at her job. Crying and saying, You know what is happening? And boy I'm telling you. What? Um, but, yeah, 20 years later tomorrow it's crazy How different the world is. Hey, D'you appreciate this, By the way, it is not a coincidence that Jay Z Had an album called Blueprint Come Out on that day. I know interesting, right?.

"The Honorable Judge Bill grow, fellas. All right now part of the Samsung deal is Samsung would be what would be a 90% rebate the 1st 10 years on their taxes. 85% the 10 years that follow that. But that doesn't mean no tax income is coming in this project, right? Yeah. So let me let me give you a couple of examples. Number one in the fifth year. Um, are our largest tax base right now is Dell Computer people forget we're home to the headquarters right. But in year five when Samsung's added to the tax rolls there'll there'll be 10 times the size of our largest tax contributor on Day five. Now on the practical side, you ask about It doesn't mean the county's going receiving money currently. The 1288 acres is all in the AG exemption. Right? And the county receives a dollar per acre right now. Each year on that property, guys, I'm not kidding. We get $1288 on the land right now, with Samsung coming in, even with us to offering them the rebate. On year five, when they're fully running Williamson County will receive $2555 an acre. Wow in year five, and that's with the 90% rebate. Yes, I'm telling you, the revenue that will be generated. Um, is going to be amazing and listen incentives that we offered Samsung Were less than what Travis County offered when they brought in Samsung. Because I gotta tell you, Samsung is a great world partner. We saw what they did in the main er ist We've seen what they've done in their local community and guys for me. It was about national security. And that it was about securing educational future for kiddos and Taylor. And I'm telling you, Can I tell you about two pieces of your Yeah, Go ahead. Yeah, absolutely. Well, one that Mayor Riddle put in there, and I thought it was just brilliant for the city of Taylor is each year and this is aside from all the taxes and all the benefits each year, Samsung will contribute a minimum of $300,000 a year. Each year for the next 30 years and together they will decide which non profit that goes to is that the boys and girls Club is that mill zone will Right is the Y M C. A. They get to do that each year now in the county agreement, and this really matter to me, and it really mattered to commissioner Rust bowls as well, too, But we put in the county agreement that Samsung must hired 24 in terms of a year. For the next 30 years Now, I was told last night by the Vice president, Judge 20 Force of minimum of what we're going to hire. So my point in telling the story is we're pouring back into the kids and guys, we haven't even talked about the economic value to the school system. We're pulling back into the kids, but what I want to see Is that high school senior intern for Samsung. I want to see them go off to college, and I want to see them return home and maybe have a place to work for the rest of their life. Huge, too, So they're great corporate partners, and we're proud of the agreement. No doubt about that. Are we getting ahead of ourselves Because it's not a done deal yet Correct? I mean, they're still considering a couple of other cities. Uh, do you feel like it's a done deal? Well, let me say this. I know that a decision is imminent. And I feel like Williamson County and Taylor. Only good place. Yeah, I know. It's not a done deal. But let me tell you something. The reason why I'm on your radio station this morning. Is so I can brag about the deal, and I can brag about the company. There are great corporate partner and I want them to do business in our community. And, yeah, I think we're going to land the project. I'm totally against this judge because this is going to make the line at Louie Mueller barbecue even longer. True. It's kind of so I am anti Samsung. That's a good point in that regard. Yeah. There you go. Hey, judge and broke. Do you know they're Louie Mueller is also working on a special recipe of the Korean barbecue. And I also received the commitment last night from Texas Beer company that when we do make them joint announcement that they're going to have a Samsung brew can and ready to go. So you go. That'll work, some Korean barbecue and a broom When you guys how can they stay away? Can't go wrong with that. Hannah Judge. Thank you so much. We appreciate you be safe out there. The honourable judge bill gravel from Williamson County. An excited man right.

Pittsburgh Steelers' T.J. Watt Agrees to a 4-Year, $112 Million Extension

"Get news that a deal has been agreed to in principle. Not sign but agreed to between. T. j. watt and the pittsburgh steelers. This was first broken by ian rapoport of the nfl network was also adam schefter. Espn that they have the deal in principle. I think they just have to put pen to paper. But it's agreed moving forward. Here's the deal. It's a four year extension worth just over our right around just over one hundred and twelve million dollars for tj. What would this has him as the highest paid defensive player in football now you can manipulate the numbers one way or the other to say how much it is per year. We'll get there all right. It's basically he's just over twenty eight million dollars per year from that extension and there's also eighty million dollars fully guaranteed at signing. Now we'll get into that in just a second but first i want to understand that. This is an extension so this goes on top of the deal that he already had for this year which was playing under the fifth year option where he was set to make ten points. I'm going from memory. I'm pretty sure it's ten point. Oh eight nine million dollars this

College Football Commentator Kirk Herbstreit Discusses His Scary Introduction to Fatherhood

"About how old were you then. Save me back to the beginning here. About how old were you when you first became a dad and had to becoming a father kind of change your perspective on life. Well i dated a girl through high school and college. Same girl for eight years and then she went off to chicago to start her career she had done for years. I- red-shirted and so. I had a fifth year my senior year and during my senior year i met my future wife alison That year and then we got married. When i was i was about twenty eight years old Roughly and my first kids were born in two thousand. So i was twenty nine thirty years old. Roughly right around there when they were when they were born. Incidentally they were born I talked about this in the book but but my wife was twenty weeks pregnant than we would end for our normal routine. We knew we were expecting twins and we were going in for our normal scan and when we went in they said oh my gosh you know you're funneling we've got a problem you've got we got mitch you to the hospital. So she went straight up from that. Visit straight up the hospital to up up to the twelfth floor. And she stayed there On bedrest and held on for like to see if she could she could make it Did not get out of that bed for. She held on for eight weeks. And so the Twins were born at twenty eight weeks. There are two pounds each when they were born and then they were in the nick. You for about another eight weeks until they're able to come home. And so that was my introduction to to fatherhood and You know now. They're twenty one and and doing well. But tell you when you're a first time dad and that's your introduction That was that was scary. You know they're in the nick you and you know i didn't realize that your brain when it's develops tells your heart to beat and so their brains weren't developed enough so they're the ekg wiring all on couple times with flat. Line on your thinking. They've died and you freak out until nerves to come over they'd come over and just kind of shake their leg and then the next thing they'd start breathing again but it was a traumatic experience to go

"Bills fans missed out on a for not what was just an unbelievable show. It was unbelievable to be in that building watching those guys play. They were amazing. Having said that I was asked yesterday about and what happens if Josh Regresses? What if his stats aren't and I had this answer? Said, Listen, there's every chance that Josh won't have as good as statistics as he did last year, but it won't be because he's not the same player it'll because teams have a away to take him away. He'll do that The guy is still going to be this. I think he's going to be exact same guy last year, if not better. This year, his statue are going to change. He's not going to have an identical season. He may have. Three list, three less touchdowns or hat and half the interceptions or three more touchdowns and three more intercept. Who knows? It'll be in that ballpark. He may regress a little bit or whatever. But he's going to be the same quarterback. He's going to be really, really good and everything else around him might change. The results might not look quite as eye popping as they did this last year, but he's going to be He's going to be the atomic bomb. I mean, he's the the ultimate weapon in the league, his physical abilities, his running ability, his arm strength, his leadership, his command of the offense, the weapons he's got around him. That the organization the way they're playing the You know the power, the empowerment. They give him and the leadership and the coaching and the play calling. They give him he's going to be Fantastic. His stats may be different next year. They may not be his eye popping. I've said, though I think they're gonna go up another notch, but they may not be. But that doesn't mean he's not going to be just as dominant as he was this year. Mean there's we said. If he takes us, he I don't know if it's possible for him to take a leap as big as he did last year. I don't know what that even looks. I've said it a ton. I don't know what that would look like in quarterback play. I've never seen a guy play that good, because if you put last year's step and put it and double it this year, Like he's going to take that biggest step this year. I don't think we've ever seen a quarterback play that good. So I don't know how you predict that So I don't you know, Sooner or later, he's gonna plateau at least. But I even so he's still going to be at least as good as he was last year. And so, having said that that's that's where you're at. I think the thing has been most impressive about Josh Allen has been the improvement he's made in his 2nd and 3rd years in the league year, 1 to 2 and year 2 to 3 and both years have been Incredibly large jumps. And you're right. I don't. I think I'm at a point now where I've seen him improve and get better. And I believe in that ability and Josh down so much that if you go into this season I think Josh Allen's going to regress. You know, that's the wrong thing to me. I don't see how you expect that because of what we've seen him do improving from from you know where he started as a rookie to now, I expect another improvement Now you're right. You know, the the ceiling is is he's getting close to the ceiling where you just can't make that jump again because I don't. There's nowhere else to go, but I don't. I think if you want to see what direction Josh is going to go this year, even as good as he was last season Expect Josh Allen to get a little better now are the areas where he could regress? Sure, you know the the off platform accuracy last year was off the charts, and it's not something we thought we were getting Josh Allen coming out of college at any point. And and to expect that to continue, or maybe a better way to put it is if I'm going to pick an area where I think Josh L might regress, it's better, you know, because he put balls in spots. The one that always comes to mind is the John Brown through against the Raiders, where his feet are, you know, pointed the left field and he's throwing the right field and put it between two defenders right here, you know. Doing that. I don't know how you teach it. That's light years over my head, But I know from just watching different quarterbacks expecting it to happen year and you're out is probably not reasonable. So that would be to me the most likely spot but again. The guy keeps getting better and why you expect anything else at this point, I think is incorrect. Steve Tasker along with that brown here on one bills live. We're talking about the Josh Allen and the way he played what his future looks like, and also the contract extension that he's in line to get They obviously picked up his fifth year contract. He's guaranteed 23 point something something million in his fifth year. He's got his fourth year still to play. And when will the Extension happened here is one of the logical reasons why the extension may happen, like like soon is because they don't want him to get disgruntled playing for Whatever seven million he's playing for this year or whatever it's it's a small number of quarterback NFL quarterback speaking particularly one who finished second in the M V P race, that's a small number. And That's something you want to fix as an organization, so if you can give him a long term deal And Have it kick in after next year when he makes 23.4 million or something like that on his on his the fifth year of his rookie franchise, But you can give him the signing bonus now and then that gets spread out as well. So if that happens now is the time because he's not making anything this year. So any excess money you have under the cap, throw it at the guy. Extend him as far as you can feasibly extend him. And keep him happy. Um For the season. He put together last year and for the season that you and I've been talking about, he may put together this year. Whatever you're gonna pay him. You got a pretty good idea. It's gonna be worth it. He's going to give your money's worth and So I'm I'm totally with you. I'm I feel Feel it in the next two months that is going to get done. Have no insight information other than the fact that it makes a lot of sense. And if they've got the money, spend it in the right place, so Um, that's really think, Steve. Do you really think he would get disgruntled? "Do you feel like, are a couple things that they absolutely need to know when they get started or before they get started? I think you have to become really accustomed to failure and be excited about failing because that's how you learn and in general, I think we sort of Tell people don't make mistakes and don't fail. So we create added fear. And yet that is the space where you can really grow. You know, if you don't fail in your first year, then I think you're really going to fail in your fifth year, and you're not going to be able to recover from it. So it's good to fail. In the beginning. I would highly encourage entrepreneurs to collaborate and just stay committed because you know, even if you are a seasoned entrepreneur, and this is your fifth business, it's different in any industry you go into, you're going to encounter different problems. So much of the world. Changing with technology that it's always a new frontier. And if you're excited about that, if you're always willing to be learning and talking to people and think about the people around you not as competitors, but collaborators and see what you can add to it. I think that you will see yourself Slowly succeed. But you made a good point. Like oftentimes entrepreneurs are like I'm gonna do this all all at once. And it's gonna be grand and setting realistic goals are really good, too. And celebrating them as well. Even if they're small really boosts them around for you and for the people working with you. I support my brother. I wish he was here. But i support him all the same. So then the question becomes. Why isn't gilmore here and stefan or no one close to him said this but all signs point to his contract judah earn a base salary of seven million dollars two seasons which is below market for a player of his caliber. The reason for the low figures. The patriots actually advanced him. Four point five million of salary last year. So that's sort of the situation with gilmore from a financial standpoint and players. Supporting him hoping he'll be back soon. Yeah we'll keep an eye on this one for sure. Mike hang tight. We'll be back with you in an update on the quarterbacks that patriots camp in just a moment but let's bring it out to the crew here out of what else should we know on gilmore. And the way bill belichick will handle this will laura. Stefan gilmore was not there today. He will not be there tomorrow and he will not be there the next day he will not attend. This week's mini camp and the truth of the matter. Is he's still recovering from their partially torn quad injury that he had last year so even if he were healthy. I don't know that he could be out there. The contract remains an issue and is going to be an issue and the patriots have something of an issue of their own on their hands. They did not draft any quarterbacks in this jesse jackson is the only experience outside quarterback they almost have to have fun. Gilmore to run the defensive. The bill check lights to run the defense the patriots of shown in the past that they're willing to move on to flood from players before the time is right and they'd rather bail on a flare early than be stuck with him later but in this particular case his value to the defense is vast. He's not going to be. They're not happy with the contract. Wants to redone last year. The patriots rework the contract. And you'd have to figure that the two sides can figure out a way to come to an agreement again. Especially when tom brady coming to town and week. Four and one. Tom brady throwing for five hundred yards against us to fund gilmore. Lewis defense now. This is an interesting situation here for a guy who's gonna who's thirty years old. Who is coming off of injury. And he's having to negotiate with the football team in with a coach who for all intents and purposes the general manager that is more economically driven in their decision making any team really in the history of the salary cap era billionaires exactly as adams said bills one of those guys get out ahead of moves that he feels potentially could go bed in terms of contracts meeting not committing a lot of guaranteed money players that he still feels on the back side of his career now. What stefan could argue that. He probably has three or four. Good years left boring any any further injury. This is a guy who again as adema. Looney two plays exactly his strengths. The style of deepest bill likes to play mainly a lot of your face. Pressed man to man coverage on is a master at an absolute massacre. But you could see his side of it too. He's in the fifth year of this contract. That paid him on average thirteen million per year when he signed it in two thousand seventeen thirteen million per year right now puts them about not even in the top ten in terms of average salary with corners. I mean the top guys making twenty million and jalen ramsey so. I don't know where this is headed. But i can see his point yet more jalen ramsey by the way how he factors in just a moment. But i'm living in the world. I think somehow they get this figured out but let's live in a world for now where they don't. What does this patriots defense. Look like without stefan gilmore. Well laura have some deaths. I mean you saw some of the names. They're jonathan jones played inside jesse jackson. Two of the more underrated. Dvd's in the entire nfl. They did sign. Jalen mills. This offseason. But atta made a really good point about meeting. Stefan's experience on the outside and i would argue. The patriots should do everything in their power to get this done because the case for them being a contender a playoff team in twenty twenty. One is predicated to me on the defense bouncing back in a big way. A defense that ranked first officiency in play one thousand nine hundred and dropped twenty six last year in large part of departures in free agency and cova coutts. Now you get hightower and bit noise back. It added a bunch of reinforcements in the front seven and of course secondary husband the strength in the past. If gilmore's there this could be a top ten even top five defense again and that to me is the stability on this team. Because we don't know who's playing quarterback. I'm in agreeing which you mean especially when you start thinking about what. Bill belichick steve. Geller ticket son. Likes to do defensively remember. They brought matt patricia. Back is this defense has been predicated. I'll have a lockdown guy so you can create for ten. I was a beneficiary a plan with a great player in the market square who created opportunities. We talk about what aaron donald does for guys we know. What jalen ramsey. Look john john and troy. You really good players but having jalen ramsey definitely help them be better players.

"Yeah yes he doesn't really land anywhere with the legacy of malcolm x. Essay the way he describes it as he's wrestling with these ideas that you can't quite reconcile in himself and i sort of saw as like he's trying to bring together pessimism and hope and he doesn't know how and he doesn't know why he wants to or why he can't moving on here is a real turning point when he finally starts to find answers. Yeah okay then. We get to possibly. My favorite section of the entire book is notes from the fifth year. This is kind of the turning point. He starts to contemplate his legacy as a writer. He's made quite a name for himself and he finally has financial stability from his writing which is huge deal but he's also starting to think about what he his goals are what he wants to be as a writer he all these references to his heroes like namely baldwin. Be wells mostly. And there's this one section that i am so obsessed with i wanted on my tombstone. It's really long. it would not fit on a tombstone. Say what kind of tombstone can get on. "So shantelle. The wb is about to begin. Its twenty fifth season on friday. You know every sports league has taken a pretty big hit the pandemic. what's your sense of the state of the wnba. As the twenty twenty one season gets set to tip off. Well i think there's a lot of ways to look at that question in terms of the on court product. It's better than ever. It is the toughest league in the world to get into in a typical year. There are one hundred and forty four spots. Twelve teams twelve roster spots. That's it but because of the new. Cba and salary cap numbers of teams are only going to carry eleven players this year. So we're looking at maybe one hundred and thirty eight one hundred thirty seven. Maybe one hundred thirty nine women in this league and so the on court product is amazing. What they're doing off the court their initiatives the social justice council. It's important you could make the case that they were a leading reason. Why senate seats flipped in georgia. They're really important. League twenty fifth year is now also falling in an olympic year. And they're going to be back in front of fans and it just feels like there's ton of excitement coming into this year and we've seen over the past year as viewership has declined and a lot of sports. More people are watching women's basketball than ever before more people are asking for coverage more people are tuning into the games. The ncaa tournament for the women had its best year yet. "The Cleveland Browns picked up the fifth year option for Baker Mayfield. Guaranteed at least two more seasons of the man, maybe more. He gets that contract extension and he's eligible for He was selected number one overall in the draft. That included Sam Donald two spots after him, Sam Donald looking for a new start right now, with Carolina Panthers. You can also take a look at Josh Allen selected at seventh overall, he played at an M V p level last year. And then someone who did when the M V P And has a regular season record. This is just ridiculous. I think the record might be 30 and seven Is Lamar Jackson. Baker Mayfield is to do that's just like you would select the number one. How come the other two guys had better careers or better starts than you? Baker did throw 27 touchdowns that rookie year. He did regressing year too. He did light it up last year. Think Baker is the man. I think he is the long term answer. The Cleveland Browns. I think he is able to turn things around, especially with all of the talent that he has around him because he doesn't have to do it

Yeah fisher Do you now it. Because fred warner was from. Byu correct under like yeah was. Zack wilson. On the t. When he was there or was or did he come in. When was out on knowing fairly sure. 'cause i was thinking that maybe word. It's possible i know warner's brother is on the team the corner. I take cornerback. Yeah so i wonder. If they're using that connection to psych see get more intel wilson and stuff like that and Whatnot yeah But yeah i mean this is exciting. I mean the whole fan base Seem super excited about this. I'm pretty excited about this I know yeah you have the world yet. I feel more confident after they picked up Gouache sure with the higher picks they stay can see talent apply so i do feel better about like the pain is high again because i have. I'm hoping we don't have another like sullivan. Thomas kind of situation like no offensive solomon comments. He shouldn't have been picked. That high Stuff so like. I'm i'm like we'll just see what happens. It's crazy I definitely that they are trying to go for third trying to keep their super bowl window open. They want to Just keep it going in. I think they realized that quarterback was a huge problem is a need that they needed to address. It looks like that that that's what they're doing to the draft slammed especially if either jimmy or trade him That is a lot of money because we all players years ago. That are gonna need big contracts. This one of those deals that you make for the future. Because you know he's going to be a rookie contract for five years for five years. Whoever we pick unless you completely bombs kind of thing. They're going to pick up the fifth year option. So i mean that's going to be a minimum amount of deal of money. We're gonna pay him for the next five years so you could pay the rest of the team and worrying about that in five years and at that you could just keep him underneath the the franchise tag over and over even though they gets expensive but then you can make moves free up money and that whole thing except.

This is better joy cons potentially You know probably thinner. Basil's noted mentioned mentioned it in there as well. The fourcade thing is interesting. It's clearly the logical step to go when it's going to be in tv mode so speak. Yeah i guess. I really don't care when it comes nintendo with four k And i know there's obviously been some speculation with developer support on this. How are if it is going to be going from. Seven twenty pm scaling. All the way up to four k is that gonna put just make an extra workload for developers. Like i said to me if it stated tonight ep but it had better battery life better a bigger screen. That's enough i. I would be happy with that to me. The switch ninety percent of the time. I'm playing it in portable mode anyway. So i'm not overly concerned with there being four k in dock mode and playing that way so i mean i think a lot of this is true but it'll be interesting to see what what the truth looks like.

Bears announce coach Matt Nagy, GM Ryan Pace will return after 'impressive' finish to 2020

"Apparently matt nagy is going to make it to next year. The bears are gonna keep him the head coach. The general manager ryan pays. Who may have been more maligned than nagy. Decline the fifth year option trubisky. But it's still an option to bring him back in some way our jeff dickerson who covers the bears is essentially reporting. Nagy and pace will be back. Our dan orlovsky is voicing his opposition. What has matt nagy done as for his a an organizer as far as a leader as far as a person with foresight within their organization to say yes in that head coaching role. We love them. Now we're going to allocate some of the play calling responsibilities or the offensive viewpoint. Who are we going to give that to. And what has matt nagy done within. That building approve on great in this role. I understand what dan is coming from. But i think in this situation. He has a winning record. Chuck pagano is retiring as a defense coordinator so he's got to his staff and his thought process in his thinking. Maybe there's a guy or two out there that is really good at calling. Plays really good at putting a system in place to make. Whoever the quarterback is going to be in the future for them successful. So i'm okay with them taking a look see. They just went to the playoffs. So you take a look in just poo. poo it. because you've got to restart things all over again when you completely blow everything up so give it a shot in twenty twenty one see where it's at. He's going to be before you make that decision and that move now mr bisky mitch. Trubisky is jockeying for position to come back and be the chicago. Bears starting quarterback again. Now maybe there's a small deal there because they didn't pick up the fifth year option. There's a small little deal. Maybe there's a two year deal. That is a proven deal that he can now show with a new office coordinator his abilities that he showed in north carolina and made them take him as a number two pick overall.

Byzantine Fault Tolerant Consensus

"Everyone this is ted. I'm from cornell university. I'm finishing up my phd now my fifth year. I also worked part time at avalanches which is in our startup. i co-founded with adviser. Tell me a little bit about your phd work. What are your specific areas of interest. Yes so i think for the a democ- part you know as a phd. I mostly were distributed systems and that sounds like a very broad topic so more specifically within the systems i'm mostly focused on consensus and within the consensus topic. They are also different kinds of consensus protocol. I mostly focused on so called. Byzantine fault tolerant consensus protocols or t protocols. We are nowadays very hot topics. Pickus people are interested in blockchain technology and walk. Chang's need such kind of consensus in order to work. We'll definitely spend some time. Talking about blockchain byzantine fault. Tolerance is not as newest blockchain. So it's a i guess. An older theory. Could you help some of the listeners with the basics. What is bef t absolutely so. Yeah indeed. I think there has been like misconception. Many people think of b. f. Some kind of new stuff especially in that community even when we're talking about blockchain's but to me when i started my phd at cornell this of t kind of consensus as the coolest consensus at heard of at a time. And before actually dive into that world so what is not so byzantine fault. Tolerance has a weird name. So what is byzantine is. Sounds like the name of the old empire in l. a probably medieval or or some time period and the reason that this kind of protocol got his name as thanks to leslie lamport so may have heard of this research. His very well known ing Systems community clothing his works on taxes all sorts of consensus stuff. The also proposed the name for this new career of consoles protocols to be. Fd consists and beat byzantine just is part of the story if you read his paper about the whole consensus. So let's forget about the name of paying so what this protocol is usually about as maybe you are familiar with the phnom visiting kind of consensus or you know people usually call them crash fault tolerant protocols such as taxes or rafts so those protocols they work great and they're widely adopted by the current industry. Google uses passes as a core for cloud service and the reason that we need to another category of consensus protocol is because this kind of protocol a does not assume malicious behavior by the participating machines nose so that means than those can only crash build knows can only like human beings they can always say. Oh i die and then you just shut down or crashed without creating any noise into the channel into the network so then people begin to think about how we should handle the case where there some node. That could go crazy. Say i'm an node than when i don. I don't die peaceful eight. But i crave bunch of noises. The noise could be interfering the entire natural and even worse. I could be you know. Some zombie not controlled by the x. Turno attackers so i could exhibit arbitrary behaviour visit lab. I'm like a you know the insider send on by some other parties. So i'm like spying this system. So how do you handle this kind of situation in a protocol. While at the same time you still want to achieve the same goal as the noun byzantine one usually call them or crush full tolerant protocols we want to achieve the same goal but was different assumption

Los Angeles Lakers, Anthony Davis Agree To Five-Year $190 Million Contract

"Anthony davis got a lotta time. He could build a whole olympic sized jacuzzi now with his hundred and nine hundred million dollar contract. Five years l. c. Four years stared teed without an opt-out it's all guaranteed but i'm saying four years concurrent better said and then a option for the fifth year player option. It's look it has been a great week. If you're the los angeles lakers. Obviously it's a great week of your anthony davis and the davis family lebron james and the james family and it's been a great week for jeanie buss who you mentioned but i'm gonna add one more person. It has been a great actually. Great couple of weeks for rob pelinka and a guy that you and i and a lot of us have all a couple years ago now. We're critical of because there was some stuff and moves that were questionable but none since the last two off seasons and he has not only nailed it. But i think he had the best off season of anyone in the sport so he needs deserves all the kudos in the world.

Anthony Davis finalizing five-year, $190 million max deal with Lakers, agent says

"Or Chris? Paul. What kind of money in contract negotiations? Did Mr Clutch sports full in this league on LeBron and then a D and back to back days? What is he charged for? That One quarter, then 2% 3% no more than three right. I do have a friend. That's an agent and I'm doing this off in time. My head, but I think They get generally between what four and 10% depending on the sport. It depends the more you make, the less the percentages so I I paid agents 10% most of my life, but I don't make that much. But a guy like LeBron James when he's your buddy. Yeah. You know, I I would think probably 3% would be The going rate, uh, for that, but I mean, he did monster contracts back to back. On. It's the relationship with LeBron. I mean, they grew up together, and he's the guy who's got trained my green as well. And they all orchestrated the The Anthony Davis, You know, transaction to hold out from New Orleans and put on the T shirt that that's all folks and, you know, just kind of tanked on there all year and Even though they were a playoff team, and you made the point that They? They both got massive contracts. I mean, LeBron, a two year $85 million extension. Could. It could have gotten more I think and then Anthony Davis, a five year 1 90 he can get out of here is an early termination doesn't have to go to the fifth year. So I don't know. You know, the the roll back and in the B R. I Is going to affect most people, but I don't know if it'll affect them. There is a very top end. But I think they probably could have squeezed a little more juice out of it. To be honest with you, but they all signed back to back so We're looking at the Lakers being the dominant team in the NBA for at least the next three years and more. It's interesting that actually A D committed to a year beyond LeBron. So I mean, LeBron is you gotta play more than just this

Team Secret Cleans Up At Esports Awards

"Team secret for the e sports awards that i did not watch at all They one team of the year. They won player of the year which was nisha and coach of the year. Which is hain. is that all correct syndrome. Correct what do you think of that. So teamster again no. Ti this year and other other games have had the kind of their big tournaments some of them at least league for example but secret essentially winning the last. If you wanna take out the last few weeks has been seven plus money. I wanna say eight events in a row. Yeah seven months. They want everything just winning. Literally everything would you. I mean obviously our daughter bubble. So we're gonna agree right. The doda words everything. i would agree with. I don't know if i would put nietzsche's player of the year. I think it's hard to pick one. Yeah but he would definitely be one other candidates right. So i mean as it always is with these multi game award shows right. It's easy for us to say that these are great choices because we don't follow the other games that are part of it nearly as much to be honest with you. I don't even know which games are eligible to win in the sports category. If it's dodo leagues he has go rainbows. Six call of duty. Like i don't know what games are included in this is. It's hard to imagine another team in any game being as dominant the secret where this year. I think that's fair to say like you need to basically when everything right and not only that but the competition needs to be tougher which is unlikely once again because of corona because you know arguably secret even had a really tough region to play and while this was happening wasn't like it was just free easy wins because the region was week or something still tons of teams so it's super impressive I'm happy coaches got a bit more recognition so gretz to heen as well. I think he's really elevated this team to the next level they just started owning after he joined. I feel like it made a pretty big difference at least down the stretch Ceo good stuff. The thing about these awards shows though is. I don't know how much stock to put in the general. It's always cool for the teams to get recognition like this But i wish maybe it was a little bit more transparent a little more defiant. How we're going to segue into this next kind of mini topic of what do you think of award shows for e. sports in general because from my perspective i'm used to watching the oscars. I don't really watch a lot of other award shows at all but the oscars. I watch every single year. It's an event you know it's fun to watch. Even if i hate all of the movies which is sometimes the case that they just pick like the criteria just doesn't make sense to me sometimes like these artsy fartsy like movies will sometimes win for no reason. According to me but again like what criteria are they using. I don't know maybe you just don't have any taste. No that's definitely. I love in bruges. It's a great movie. Don't try to get out obligation. But what do you think from east perspective because when you look at the movies just as you know. Let's just do a one to one here. It's pretty clear. Even without knowing the exact criteria it's movies of this category but for east. There's just it feels like it's not as black and white. There's just so many different games. What is even considered an e sport. Technically speaking like. I don't even know the answer that question. That's the thing i mean. I guess the analogy of the comparison is really good though because in movies. There's also like it's super subjective. Right like what do you consider. A good movie is very different. From one person to the next head would be considered true. I suppose what it's defined as an eastport is a game that yeah but how many how big of a following doesn't need to have how significant to the price does need to be if i host a tournament in prague for one hundred bucks on eastport best escort because then then a lot of things could have won but now i i don't know what the criteria is and i think that's what we're probably agreeing on right now is that Maybe maybe are transparent about it. I just haven't seen it. I'm not saying that's not the case But yeah. I don't even know what sport is because like you said if it's just money than short that's anything could be in eastport if it needs to be x. amount of player base and have tournaments consistently running like whatever the case may be but either way. I like the idea of it. The fact that this is. I believe the fifth year in a row that their continued to do it is cool people show up to the event. There were ranked tuxes. They're trying to make it. That's where i don't like it. Actually they're trying to make it to. I don't know if mainstream is the right word but they're just trying too hard to copy everybody else like just let people show up in fucking sweatpants like were gamers man. Nobody wants to wear a goddamn suit. Unless you're a fucking psychopath syndrome okay. Being honest a lot of people do like dressing up on occasion. I think they don't like having to wear a uniform. It's like that all the time but for special occasions i think people like to do something extra like but honestly now that you it. I think it would be super cool if our award shows had people show up and team jerseys of their favorite team instead of in tuxes right. I think it'd be cool

Psychological Autopsy

"And suicide research. There's this thing called a psychological autopsy and it's pretty much exactly what it sounds like a snapshot of someone's mental state leading up to their death. A lead investigator collects personal. And biographical information and conducts formal interviews with family members friends and any doctors who may have treated them. It is a lot of information but the one voice that's rarely in the mix the person who died so this week we are doing our own pseudo psychological autopsy and reviewing tolleys story from five different perspectives tally through her personal documentation janice developmental psychologist sharon. Who we just heard from their middle sister noah and bhatia their mom. They were so nervous and i didn't understand why now i am too. That's all they told me all the time to be heard by a lot of people this i don't care i'm talking about my daughter. I feel comfortable in advance of our conversation. Noah and sharon assured me that i'd love bhatia and i assure you were not wrong. She is great. Bhatia was eager to tell me all about tali her oldest daughter and such an incredible blessing. I couldn't have children for like four years the fifth year. I got pregnant and head. Tally and it was the happiest day of my life. She had a wicked sense of humor. I mean she was funny sarcastically. Funny but She wasn't happy in right just after everything happened. I realized the chosen. Happy most of our life in putting this season together. We heard a lot of stories a key. Plot point was we had no idea. They were even struggling. This is not one of those stories. You know i remember a child like four or five my friends with us the smile and it five. I took her to a psychology. That wasn't a good experience I knew that her life will not be easy because she went bump heads with everything. I knew it's not the best but you know there were good moments. They're excellent moments but mo- yeah she was not a happy i while talking to bhatia. She kept reiterating. That tally was unhappy. She knew her daughter was depressed but still as a mom she never saw this coming. You don't ever think about someone killing themselves. That was definitely unexpected in tragedy. Lusts to tell the story of this tragedy. Let's start around. The time tally was five. The family had moved from israel to pennsylvania and they eventually settled in michigan. There was some culture shock language barriers. And tali really struggled to make friends in the depression doc. Tali tells this story about kicking her kindergarten teacher after not getting her way but he definitely remembers this moment she had to go to school and beg the principal to give me another chance after a while. The teacher's sister is from israel came to class and she said with dolly. It was amazing because she talked her in english. And tally answered in hebrew and they realized she's knows everything i i m sure that she was a genius she was. Interestingly tully doesn't mention this part of the story in the depression history she says quote. My mom tells me a story of how kicked my kindergarten teacher because she wouldn't give me the scissors. Which tells you that. I wasn't an easy child right from the start. There's no mention of the hebrew speaking teacher sister or her inability to communicate. She says she doesn't remember specifics. But no she had no friends and didn't get along with other kids. She mentions not getting invited. Birthday parties or sleepovers after school activities. She had a problem. She would make friends but she could keep them. That was her. that was her her character.

"Opener. Last night's winning a back and forth affair with Minnesota 45 40 foreign and overtime thriller and among the great story lines. Last night was Jake Funk, the fifth year senior back from a season ending A C L injury last year rushed for a career high 216 yards last night and scored the game tying touchdown in regulation. I mean, it was great the whole time. It was a fun game back and forth on, really, you know, I was seeing open holes. The five linemen upfront did a great job and tight ends to blocking and then also, the receiver's down the field. I mean, it was a collective team effort. They Call Us We Bare Bears

"Hello and welcome to another edition of they call us Bruce and unfiltered conversation about what's happening in Asia America. I'm bill you. And I'm Jeff Yang and we are so incredibly pleased tonight to have with us a very special guest, a friend of ours, a friend of the PODCAST and a brilliant animation creator. That's kind of a big drum roll right now who's it going to be? But I'm here to tell you that it is in fact, Daniel Chong the creator of we bear bears one of our favorite animated series Daniel welcomes the fogcast. Welcome. Thank you for that intro. Man I don't know what to do with that that. Good now. All right. No for real. Huge. Admirers of yours and big fans of of we bear bears I've you know as much as possible I've I've kept up with it given. The fact of the world is basically a rolling apocalypse I'd. Things things we've your bears are the things that make life feel less like a total and utter shit show. And I will say We're particularly excited because we have the chance to actually take a look at the. We are bears movie, which is sort of like an exclamation point on the series and it was fantastic. I mean I have so many things to ask about say about it especially the fact that it feels like. I don't want to say this to overstate this in some ways, but it feels Kinda like an important movie in ways that I will elaborate. Thank you perfect for twenty twenty I'll say that But let's begin actually Daniel. By talking about how this got started in I mean for those of you who have not yet watch, we bear bears. It actually began as a web comic called the bear bears right. Three bear bears right shortly there and tells how that where that came from and I guess how this how this turned into. What it is today. Yeah It was a web comic that I had created it. You know I was working in the industry in the animation industry ad. I just wanted to make my own thing. And at the time you know people are posting things on blogs and stuff. So I created this comic on my own called three bear bears is kind of a play on Goldilocks, three bears and so Yeah it was. It was a comic that It was very like free for me. I. Didn't like really right out anything ahead of time I just kind of like A. Free associated as I was drawing it and nobody read it and nobody cared and just completely I remember going onto comic forums and trying to post it like, Hey, guys check this out in like nobody wanted to talk to me on forum. So it was just like. But but the thing is I was already working. So it's not like it was so debilitating. What was it? The only thing I had? It was just You know it is it is that was just it was my outlet that my special hobby I guess at the time. So but as I was in the animation industry working as a story artist for about ten years run by fifth year I was starting to get antsy I just wanted to create my own things. So I started taking these comics different ideas that I had started just flushing them out into pitches into stories and or. TV shows, and that's where three bears became weaver bears. I got to change that title for legal reasons apparently. Some what's called a some company owned I think there were a taxidermy company, they own something similar. So. You know now the title really means nothing at it makes no sense but it's So. Yeah. We're not responsive opportunity right there if you. Off. So. When you when you came up with this for the idea when he became a cartoon a series, like what were the kind of the things that you were like how did you pitch it honestly when I tried tried to explain this series to people who've never seen it? Yeah. It's kind of a weird thing to try to like I like the concept is such a It's so simple and yet it. So it's too simple in a lot of ways. Yeah and then trying to explain to the emotional complexity of is difficult. You know. I think the pitch itself was was. The visuals help a lot. I'm not just pitching words so. I think there are two things that were very crucial to well, maybe three. Crucial things to the the Bible ever the pitch that I did that help sell at one was the visual of stack these three bear stack them each other which you know I it was a very iconic thing in the comic and that was definitely the thing carried into the pitch, and so you know I pretty much started off the Bible by showing this image of the three bears together. So it just. kind of it's sort of just evokes a very strong image up the top. The second image that I put in the Bible was an image of the three bears mingling at a party with a bunch of Humid's holding like cups at a party and nobody is freaking out by them. They're just all mingling together as if they're like, you just talking about the weather or something like that, and that was another like. Important image to kind of sell here's the joke. Is that these three years nobody freaks out when they see them they're just one of you guys except there bears. So that was the other really important image to sell this project
