"While except i watched the jets. Thank you for getting the easy job before me. I i actually kinda dug the nfl. Last season i did. I did my but i need it. Now it's two separate conversations needed. I dug the nf. I need it now more than i ever needed. Feel like we needed. I know you had the thing with your mom. And i'm but i feel like we all needed it last year too. I think you're just living in the moment like when football started we were in a rough place. The games were fine and but i think emotionally and where we aren't we all little bumming were vaccinated like are we in a better space moseley now than we were a year ago. But i'm bearing my grandfather. I know we all have our individual issues. I mean like he's saying right now that he needs sports more than ever really needed to turn them down for months. I i need to turn on my television and see something other than what it is. I'm seeing that's that's really when it gets down to well. I think a year ago we might. Maybe we all needed entertainment or something. But i just felt personally and i understand that people disagree. I felt personally that having a football season was not a responsible thing in terms of public health so it was hard for me to watch it knowing that a lot of epidemiologists and doctors and and even like world leaders were like. What are you doing none of it. None of this should be happening right now. College football was severely impacted by cova. Did we would miss several game while the packing did imply right now. They played six games. That's right and like houston had like four games in a row cancelled like it was a complete mass there reschedulings every single weekend. You didn't know if like it was wednesday and your team was supposed to plan saturday if the game was actually going to happen or not. I mean that's what i mean by it. Being harder to get into programs. I'm playing games. Miami notre dame all impact wake forest missing several games and now at least. There's more confidence that you'll have a more representative season and atmosphere. Is everything those games to not have the fans that translates over television. I went to one colleague. Michael this is terrible and they're not letting me drink. What is the point of any of this. I wasn't even talking about the game. I was talking about life awful. Which game was it. it was miami. Virginia that's just no. It wasn't a game. What are you doing this doing. what are you doing here. Spent virginia miami golden kane. There it was just not very fine. The silver lining with the nfl was a game was impacted by govan. I'd have wednesday. Nfl football with him as a prime broadcast. And i kind of enjoyed having the occasional wednesday game despite the circumstances surrounding. Why like a fifth string quarterback that can't throw a pass. It was to see implication. I mean it was just for me a little like we were pushing it a little bit and i also just personally bend nucci. That did it starting like two weeks for dallas. Oh yeah but i just to me felt like there was so much else on my mind and there's like the world's better place now like you just said worse place. I like last year was just cova you. It could be one of ten terrible story. This is the worst. it's ever from from a numbers standpoint. This is the worst it is. It has been outside of maybe new york when they were at the epicenter of the very start of it. The delta variant is far more aggressive. It's impacting younger people. This is as bad as it is. It doesn't feel that way too. Many because life has returned were doing things were going out and many people are putting blinders on why the vaccine is made this possible for some to go out and have an easier conscience about stuff but it's very bad right now. It is as bad as it's ever been during this. It is but i can tell you. I'm speaking only for myself. One year ago. I felt a little bit guilty trying to enjoy sports. Because i'm looking all around me. This is a pandemic. I mean what the hell is a pandemic right. We haven't had one since nineteen nineteen now in the middle of it and the the american death toll is ticking up from four hundred thousand to five hundred thousand and beyond and here's a football game kicking off and i just didn't feel particularly right about watching sports a year ago in the context of all that a year later. Maybe it's because of the vaccinations now but I do feel more of a sense of normalcy here. More of a sense of all right. This is a good science. Even while mike is telling us even me micro telling you. It's it's the worst it's ever ever been. Yeah but you still feel because you have more you have the vaccine right and an upcoming boosters show we hope yes i hope at the end of the segment. Because you've been fighting medicine. Today i did. You wanna take a hit off at inhaler. Sure let's open up that long passage rag. I think you're a great candidate for a walk. It just a walk just cough while you're coughing. Bring that inhaler sheet with as many as many shots as you want greg. Did you feel guilty watching sports in nineteen eighteen during the spanish flu. Those with that little comparison there now. It is time to take a trip down minerals line. Here's your guy. Greg gourlay with bagging my day.

"Check it out. CBS Sports APP or The Odyssey Act. Greg McElroy was a backup QB of the New York Jets and 2012 or 2011. Whatever the year was. When Tebow was on the New York Jets, he was a teammate of Tim Tebow. McElroy told Sirius XM. Look, the Jets tried switching him to tight end when he was there, and he wasn't good. That's what people don't acknowledge. He said. It's wrong to compare Tim T with a taste of hell, because tasting has had multiple years running the offense or running some semblance of the offense in New Orleans. And is a better athlete, McElroy said. Look, Tebow ran a 48 in the 40 yard dash. Taysom Hill runs a 44. They're two totally different players. He blows a good dude, and I hope the best for him, But it's a sideshow, and that's what it will be come training camp time, but I think it kind of undermined with urban Meyer is trying to build And I bet you that there's going to be players as someone who went to training camp with Tim Tebow. There's gonna be players who are rolling their eyes of the amount of attention, 1/4 or fifth string tight and gets and it's going to upset people. As a result, it's going to affect that locker room. Just like it did for us with the Jets, not because anybody had any animosity towards Tim Tebow that just have animosity with the coverage that he receives, so I think it's a stupid move. Now I've already referenced Rob Ninkovich, who played in the NFL for a number of years who's been retired for a while. Who said, Look, I You line me up against Tim Tebow today, and I haven't played football in five years. I would throw him around like a rag doll that he tried to play tight end. And they're certainly but others who are like, what are you doing? And You know some people Are with me that this is stupid, And some people are very, very defined to the face of logic and facts about Tim Tebow. Back, You know, Somehow he's being tourney down unfairly. And Look what I've said All along is If you believe Tim Tebow deserves a training camp shot. Then. You're making an exception for just Tim Tebow because you would never accept your team or your coach. Bringing in a guy who's never played the position. Who's been out of football for more than six years. 34 years old. You'd never accept that as a smart football move. You wouldn't accept that with anybody else. But if you do for Tim Tebow because you root for Tim Tebow for any host of reasons, and I'm not here to tear down Tim Tebow. I'm just saying that He becomes a point of hypocrisy for everybody that you will accept something from Tim Tebow because you like to bow that you wouldn't accept from anybody else. And if you believe that Tebow is going to be an effective tight end That you believe in fairy tales. Because there's no evidence of that. You know, it's like, well, he's a great athlete. Well, there's great athletes that come out of college football every year. We don't just say OK, line up a tight end now. He's a hard worker. You think Tim Tebow is the only guy that works hard? Well, he's a great leader. Nobody's ever signed. 1/5 String tight end for leadership So all of those things don't factor into this and that that's what drives me wild When I get Pushback on Twitter or from listeners about this. It's like what fairy tale land you live in everything that you're telling me about. Tebow doesn't apply because it's never.

We should listen to these bumpers more often. Yeah, who knew? Ooh! What's up, everybody? Scott Reese carry Crowley Happy New Year's Eve Eve Christmas Eve Eve was apparently a thing last week so this can save us is a big daddy. Well, Festus is your big day. Today is like the last day where you can really enjoy 24 hour span before the New Year's resolutions kick in before you start to feel that At Sunday dread that comes with coming into January. But I think this year actually it's gonna be really exciting for everyone to turn the page. Well, first of all, Festivus has a very different feel this year because the airing of the grievances would take way ways, actually a weeklong celebration in an entire week to take care of that. Second of all we were talking about this and your New Year's resolution. I've got three of them. Three New Year's resolutions. And you said after I told you what they were you said, congratulations. I said I haven't made it 24 hours yet, but they are. Ah, five k every day running a five k so all 31 days, no sweets and no alcohol all of January. Whereas I plan to drive five k everybody on drink more and have more more chocolate icing. No, Let's keep that about the same. Okay? Yeah. Fair enough. Yeah. Good resolutions all around. It's funny. I was actually thinking this the other day because I'm a guy who we don't usually have. I don't have a lot of beer at home. Generally, I'm not much of a home drinker, but I do enjoy going out with with friends and you know, having a beer at a bar and obviously haven't been able to do that in forever. And I was actually thinking about that yesterday. Well, I miss beer. I know it's still available to me, but it's just not part of my home routine with the kids and everything, but it would be part of my life in a normal world. We make sure that it's you know, I live with roommates are about the same Asian, right. You know, All we do is watch football every single weekend. I mean, you could throw on high school games if you wanted to from the state of Texas, and we'd watch him on Friday night and We make sure that is not in the house during the week, because if it's not there, we won't have it. And so you have to make those special trips to go get it. And it's usually not in the house by Sunday night, either, But that's for a different reason. S O week. 17. You're gonna need to stock up right? You although Wait, we're into January. So no, no beer for you this week. Exactly. I'll be able to enjoy the Florida Oklahoma game tonight, and that's it. All right, so stock up on Gatorade or our eight or whatever your energy drink whatever it may be. Um, some storylines. Some news coming out today from the National Football League. Very sad News. Dalvin Cook's father passed away so he will be out for Ah, What is the meaning this week 17 game. For the Vikings. We told you about the bills fans coming back, so that's a nice for them. The Browns have lost two more personnel to covet the coded list Coach and a practice squad player. Have they returned their receivers. Do we know that you have not heard? I believe as long as none of them had Cove it If it was close contact, they certainly will all be fine as long as they test negative for. I think it's for five straight days but have not heard definitive news on that. Alex Smith did not practice again today. But that was apparently by design. They're hoping, hoping, hoping that he can go this weekend. Unless we wouldn't you have Taylor. Hi, Nikki was your back. Hey, look good. He's actually like their fifth string, and I think it's like Taylor. Hi, Nikki. Stephen Montas. He's not doing did a nine year tour in Colorado And now Alex Smith? Um, I will say e mean, we know what a revelation Alex Smith has been. I think we get kind of caught up in how great the story is that he's just upright and playing football because it is all that. But There. What is it? Three and one. Therefore, in one with Smith there, two and eight With any other quarterback now. Dwayne Haskins was that other quarterback for a lot of the year so great assault, But still, the Alex Smith factor is very, very real, and he's really not being asked to do a whole lot. Which says a lot about the other quarterbacks on the Washington football team. Alex Smith is at this point. Obviously a lot of other points in his career. He's mainly in East West passer in the depth of target for Alex Smith is not a whole lot higher than zero, and he still found a way to have success. The Washington football team functions as the best team in the NFC East when he's on the field, So if he's out there, I fully expect him to go with that football game against the Eagles on Sunday. Well, I'm not sure what Terry McLaurin status is, but if they don't have him, then gonna be tough. It's slim pickings there, too, but they have a defense and you know that's more than you can say for the rest of the division of defense. They could contain Jalen hurts. That could cause problems for Jalen hurts because he has not faced elite pass rush like Montas, sweat and Chase Young present, so that could be trouble for the former Alabama Oklahoma quarterback Patrick Mahomes will not play in week 17. So that's that's interesting for another reason. Scott he didn't look great week 16 not going to play in week 17. And then they're going to get the first round by So we're talking about an extensive lay off.

How Did Arizona Cardinals Lose to San Francisco 49ers?

"Really rough one when you've got the Niners is your loss at home. What a rough lost. We had going into the weekend. Yeah, that's probably got to be the Cardinals worst loss in five years, And I don't think that that's hyperbole. I mean, you're you're facing not only a Niners team that's out of it. Niners team that's been living in your stadium for the last month because they can't play or practice up in northern California. So they've just been staying here, and I mean they were missing everybody. They were at the third string quarterback. They were like their fourth or fifth string center. I mean, so many guys missing. And the Cardinals put up 12 points and loose. Oh, How does that happen? I mean, that is show incredibly frustrating. Of course, I'm watching the fans and watching the you know the different sports guys that I follow on Twitter and they're all very frustrated with this. This has to be You know if you're Cliff Kingsbury, you're just thinking what in the world has happened? Well, yeah. I mean, we've been talking about for four hours this morning. We still haven't come to a consensus. How you how you not only get outplayed, but, like San Francisco just seemed more motivated and they seem like they had Mauritz steak, and you know, that's not the case. Sanders was mail for a few weeks. Cardinals have been in the playoffs and five years and they could have really done themselves a favor winning obviously on Saturday, now the way things worked out the good news for the Cardinals. Is, after all, that if they just win this Sunday, they still get in because they were playing the team that they're now chasing. So it's that whole Just win, baby. Just win. Yeah, except we tried that last weekend didn't work.

"Um, I cringe because that's a big step up from J M U to the N F C East. But again, Lee as you said, the moral of this story is Jerry Jones is basically asking for sympathy for them while dismissing Bronco sympathy. Completely ignoring the fact that he put Bend Nucci on his team. Like why I left them G three of them here If he's if he's so bad, why was he ever on their radar? I get this drives me nuts about backup quarterbacks. And it's not even I know every time there's a there's there's an opening. Everyone mentions Colin Kaepernick's name. That is not what I'm doing right here. But the idea that these teams put give guys money and a jersey and practice time that they don't ever want to be on the field is a remarkable like mental twist. Like I get it you obviously you never want Dak Prescott to have that kind of injury, and it would take a lot to get to your third string quarterback. But if you're third string quarterback in your mind is no better than the Broncos makeshift fifth string quarterback who wasn't even technically a quarterback if they're on equal footing. You're doing something wrong as a team builder, because that guy should not have been on your team in the first place to put you in that situation. It's just a joke. And again. I can't highlight just how Jerry Jones responsible for the draft on believable that he drifted Ben DeNucci and has this issue. Unbelievable. Like you drafted this guy we talked about. You're not running adrift. And now you want to say you rather to save is that that Broncos It is. It is Fatima ble on federally just insulting on so many levels. And if I'm the Denver Broncos when Jerry Jones get lost, and nobody is here for you here, your commentary, and it's the joy that you put Jerry Jones on basically a phone or once a week with one of five through the fan of Dallas. I mean, we've done a Jerry Jones story once a week. Every week here, he always says something nonsensical. They're stupid. This might take the cake this season. Bogus. This might take the cake. I mean, just because he I mean, he killed this young man. I mean, he said his name, he said we didn't have it much worse with DeNucci I It's Startling even for him for all the nonsense, he says, And this is basically the question was like, Did you feel bad for the Broncos? And then he gives you that answer? You're right. Like from a business standpoint. This is why that station pays him whatever they do to come on every week because he conflict with them in their headlines, But, man, what do you do if you're bent a new chief, Do you like walking the walk in and give your jersey back and just go home like I gotta I gotta get out of here. "Shorten the game with run game. They definitely are. That's right. They're gonna shorten the game. You know that the road the Raiders gonna do. They could have short passes. Their car is gonna get a lot of short passes. I would be shocked if he if he pushes Towards 80% completion on the day And then you're gonna have some mixture of Josh Jacobs and Devante Booker coming up the Broncos and the Broncos In their hand. They realized the last two weeks through one of the reasons they got in the hole in the first half of both those games was they just had no run attack whatsoever. Nothing worked in the run, and they sort of band in it because they got in such a deep hole. So I kind of feel like both teams early on, are going to kind of come at this thing with a little bit more conservative play. They're going to kind of come up with the short to intermediate. They're going to come out there with a little bit of their the run game, Seeing what they can establish kind of work on that time of possession. Most the fireworks. I sort of expected the second half. Well, that's certainly been the way it's been for the Broncos last couple of weeks. I expected to come out hot on the script. I expected really hammer home, but they've got to score early in this game. Okay. You think it could be either way? Well, I mean, I still think the problem's corner second half, but I think that there Going to make a concerted effort to acquire points on that first, Dr specifically because they realized that you can't get behind on the Raiders and let them come downhill on you because they will and they'll come downhill and then they hit you with each shot, play action, haggle or drugs, and it'll be over, you know, but they will shorten the game to the point where it will just be over. Um so I think the Broncos know that they have to come out and kind of punch the Raiders in the mouth. I wouldn't even be surprised to see if they win the toss. They took the ball first. Mm. Like that, so they Broncos will have a new right tackle Calvin Anderson will be starting there at right tackle, according to Brandon for stark a way Broncos insider This was sort of telegraphed over the course of the week. You knew that old Jake Rodgers and Amar Dotson. We're kind of banged up and this is the fifth string right tackle. The Broncos will be rolling out there because again, John James Still counts is the starter even though he's not here this year. The fifth string right tackle, though there's some optimism is from cotton like like, I don't know if it banjo said that he was cautiously optimistic that he played pretty well. I don't think he really has a choice one way or the other. But we know that Calvin Anderson's a big dude, he's got some athleticism, Get some intelligence. But has not obviously had much opportunity to put it all together on the field just yet. Yeah, he's had some had some struggles a times with both power and speed rush. He's a great athlete, more athletes and football player, I think, but he said, You know, he's a smart guy. Everybody talks about the Rubik's Cube stuff is just a smart guy in general without the Rubik's cube stuff, But, um, I It's gonna be interesting to see how he does because he's gonna have Max Crosby. Across from him now the Raiders defensive line. Not particularly good. They're strong. They're not very fast and and they just don't get after the quarterback very well outside of Crosby. S so it's gonna be interesting to see how he holds up. This is probably the weakest defensive line that the Broncos have played all year on DSA. So you know if you don't if you're if you're giving up pressure and you're giving up sacks in this game That's a problem. Especially once you got Graham Glass. Go back, right, So we can't blame this one on Austin Sloper, if you're if you're going to get if you were going to get Calvin out there for a game, this is the one to get him out there for all right. Three. Or 3713. 85 85, sir. Phone number 56690. If you have any questions about the week 10 Slate, we're gonna get into it when we come back, including our wagers spotlight. Roger by urban lights. "Wise. I heard some comments. I haven't played the comments for my audience from Vic Fangio. As of yet, I guess you separate Bryce Callahan and Jerry Judy and the one questionable pile and then the right tackles into another, Perhaps Seemed like he was more optimistic about Judy and Callahan than maybe Dotson and Rogers. Exactly exactly. Jerry Judean. Bryce Callahan will play big band. You expect balls. Those guys play in the way they looked in practice this week. They look like they're ready to go. But the right tackle situation like you said, looking Opposite way. Jake Rogers was the only guy today of the five questionable guys for this week that did not practice. He is not trending in the right direction, so I would assume Damar Dotson. If he plays well, then there's no questions there if he does not play And you're going to be starting the fifth string. Right tackle Calvin Anderson will get his first career NFL start against the Raiders. And if you throw Giron James into the mix Brian. He's the fifth string right tackle for the Broncos. So on the defensive side or on the office inside, you'd be down to your fifth string right tackle and on the defensive side. You're not going to have Shelby Harris this week as he does have Cove it So you're gonna have an entirely backup defense of wine. I am with look, The Raiders don't have clue Mac anymore. Um, you know, so I guess that's that's a good thing. But how much of a concern is that? Because outside of right tackle the offensive line pretty well intact. But how concerning is it that you're on potentially 1/5 string right tackle going against the Raiders in particular. Yeah, It's a huge concern and for for many reasons, but also you mentioned the Grand Glasco was back. Well, he's this is his first game back. He hasn't played football in a couple of days, so I don't expect him to be 100%. So really the right side of your line and throw Lloyd cushion Berry in there because he's a rookie. He struggled. Right and middle of your offensive line is going tol not be perfect this week, and that's going to be very difficult for drew lots because one of the things they really want through to do is step up in the pocket. Stay in the pocket when he's supposed to, and if the pockets collapsing, he's not going to be able to step up. When he does step up. He's gonna be big being pushed into by his offensive lineman. He's going to revert back to sit system. Bad habits of throwing off his back foot shooting fadeaway jumpers is Pat Shurmur called it and then scrambling as well. So this game plan needs to be made with this in mind, and he needs to be putting through lock on the move to the left, even though that's going to be a little uncomfortable throwing across his body. You talk about the fade aways, and there's been so much made about drew locks, footwork, really, since he came into the league, right? How much from this last game against Atlanta? How much do you think? The the fade aways are coming because of the offensive line. And how much do you think it's because that's just Poor footwork on drew locks, part You know what it's definitely a combination of both. One of the things that I was so impressed with. Withdrew last year in his rookie year was his footwork. He had really improved that from college taken a big step up, and you saw it with his completion percentage just was the guy that did not have a 60% completion percentage in college. You rarely translate that into the NFL. If you're not good at it, and in college He did it. He had a 64% completion son. It's his rookie year in those five games, and now he's a 55 just pretty much 56% that he's taken 8% points back, and it's a combination of both things. You know. Last week when he threw that interception, Grady Jared just was unblocked. A guy in a space of he resorted to two poor form there. But but also his footwork is taking a step back. And it seems like Drew locks game has taken a pretty big step back this year. Whether it's the Pat Shurmur often maybe rich King Gorilla's offense really did hit fit him. Ah, lot better. It's certainly looking that way, but really in every part of his game. Ryan, he's taken a big step back this year, and that's obviously not what the Broncos wanted to hear a eight games through the season. There's still football to be played. Certainly we do not know where the Broncos will be drafting. I was having this conversation with actually, my dad last night. On this because he wanted my opinion, and I said, You know, Zach Stevens, who I have on on Fridays is more quick change for this than I am. Understanding. The Broncos aren't going to have a shot at fields. Or Trevor Laurence. If they're drafting. Barely in the lottery. Let's say I know you know, to use the basketball phrase if they're 12 13 14 15. The kid from North Dakota. Um, the kid that Wilson came from BYU. I mean, if you're drafting in kind of this purgatory here where you're not going to be able to draft one of the clear Favorites at this point, do you still if you were the Denver Broncos, at this point, say, the season ended today, Would you be looking quarterback in the first round? Man man, and that's why these eight games are so biggest to figure that out. But I think you have to do your due diligence if it were to end right now, just with the way through lock is trending, but like you said, And I think it's very important for people to understand. The Broncos are gonna have no shot at Trevor Lawrence. Of course, Everyone knows that. But the Broncos are gonna have no shot at Justin Fields. If you look at the draft right now. Of course, the Jets with the first pick they're taking Trevor Laurence. That second pick is just is locked up in my mind with with the JAG wires taking Justin Field, so you're not going to be able to get either the top two guys. You're exactly right. You start with the 3rd and 4th guys start with Trey Lancer. Start with Zach Wilson. And I really like both of those guys, especially that Wilson and you're probably gonna have to trade up to get those guys So I do think you do your due diligence on those guys because right now how I view Drew lock he's played in five games. 20 full quarters this year and get this Ryan in 18 of those 20 quarters. He's averaging, uh, 203 yards per game..

"That was for you know standard league on saturday have my second draft on wednesday evening so it it depends on where i am going to pick in that draft one. I'm going to do my overall philosophy. Typically is stack up on wide receivers early and often. I will take wide receivers receivers with three of my first four picks without any hesitation whatsoever because history tells us anything stood wide receivers verse guys like you know even historically terrell owens your you know your chad johnson's. You're the calvin johnson's of of of in fantasy from years. Here's go and even today you know you're andre hopkins's of the world and you're michael. Thomas is of the world. Those guys are going to more or less be studs for sure. Odell auto beckham's going to be a start for sure. Antonio brown probably will be slightly more risky because as an entity new team new quarterback and new helmet right. That's seems to be more important him mm-hmm but wide receivers historically speaking are going to be far more salad picks for you especially in the league. You may wanna go wrong br wide receiver. Three of your first four picks for sure running back. I don't care about running back but for the most part now i'm a bit of an oddity now i did take christian mccaffrey in my league that drafted on with my number three overall pick but that was because i had the number three overall pick. If i had the fourth pick i would not have taken nick chubb job who went forth. I would probably take in you know a star wide receiver. The reason for that is that every year in and out like clockwork you have five or six running backs who who next year we will be picking in the first two rounds that this year. We don't even know who their happens every year damian williams was that guy last year now we knew damien williams was from his time in miami and you know we knew that he was the backup to <hes> cream hunt at the time but we didn't know who he was for the most part. We didn't think he was going to be good but then when it irrelevant to fantasy but then when cream hunt got suspended and hurt it same time now. He's a super. You know top three third round pick at the latest. Maybe a second round pick and and a lot of leagues so you know it's there's always going to be running backs to the pop-up. There's very infrequently receivers hip hop. If you look at last year like there was so-called star dodd receiver that was going to be available in the waiver wire halfway through the season. It was portland sutton from the broncos like when when the broncos traded to marry his thomas to the texans all the talk was portland sutton streaming. He's you know he's the big hot pickup. I jumped on that. He did nothing for me. You know now that doesn't mean that he you can't be good this year and he's not worthy pick but typically wide receivers are a lot more system dependent they have to do you know they don't know the routes as much because they're not working with the with the first team. Running backs are almost always working with the with the first team even the third or fourth string running backs coach coming on third down or to spell someone one so they're going to typically be more integral part of the offense than a fifth string receiver who is basically working specialties most of the time so in my opinion i i am. Oh forget about running back unless you have the chance to get ciclon barclay kershaw mccaffrey or the <hes> fellow from the saints alvin kamara alvin kamara right. I knew there was a k. In there somewhere snores early here but i mean i mean i can understand that because it is top heavy and i think a lot of people are telling there's far as you need to focus on running backs..

Your team won Josh congratulates. What do you say about the game? Boy, all Bruins first period. Bidding to out of his mind. Yeah. Goldington clinic Beddington. Yeah. Fifth string on a farm hockey team terrific game realize that the blues were in last place in January. Absolute Lend Lease fighting at practice between the players and Craig ruby who they still last night. We're calling interim coach. Yeah, the search for the for the head will not be long this summer. Yeah. Why have a technical question? Yeah. So the NHL has the Stanley Cup. Yeah. Which I think is great because I much prefer cups Alec. You'll bear with me. Cup much better than these plates. They award. Now tennis mentioned the guy gets a plate. Cop is the tradition of was what's gonna be next fork. So the set of Han of. So my question is in the Stanley Cup famously each member of the team will get it. It'll travel around with them, and they'll be able to various things that the Stanley Cups photograph to the bottom of swimming pool on a boat and full of beer, whatever. And naked men sitting in. Yeah. Today I the Cup has sort of to caregivers, if you will does the Cup go on the cutting thick because presumably, they're gonna have some kind of celebration, Saint Louis today or tomorrow will be. But just the Cup go with them on the plane. Did they get to take? I don't know if immediately goes with the team or the NHL holds onto until after the blues one, these two guys come out wearing white gloves holding the Cup. Majestic music. They bring it out. They said it on the ice. And then they go ladies and gentlemen, you Stanley Cup champions, the Saint Louis blues, and then they all these guys crab it with their grimy sweaty hands for the game. And hold it up and NBC had to apologize because there are. Are so many F words, there were twenty in five minutes. Easily. And hockey players. I can't believe if you've ever been in a hockey, logger room, if you're ever lucky enough to get they are the dirty in terms of language, it is on its red FOX, and, and social Canada, when they say they say a f. Yeah. You get your. I guess they can't be fined because technically it was after well, ten commercial came back, dock goes we have we have turned off the microphone that was. Going on for like five minutes. And everybody's f this. And then they come back. Well, we finally turned off the microphone. I'm like, what, what is it? What time? What time was union? Ten thirty eastern on than they could get fined. For the time zone. Do it when like some jerk dual yell like they'll give like a normal interview to reporter in, like after ten seconds into the they haven't find anybody for a while for that. But you have to take measures to prevent that, right? If you're not like interviewing people on the street would be dangerous for that. Yeah. That'd be. But there's the, the, the FCC doesn't really have very specific roles. It's all based on case law. It's incredibly boring. And I know way too much cable. But yeah, there, there is something called a safe harbor after ten pm they can do pretty much whatever they want. But that was being broadcast on the west coast wouldn't have been after ten pm, but they'll, they'll play by play guy last night. He I virtually nothing about hockey and I enjoyed the hell out of that. Doc. Of course a doctor of hockey. Doctors. Right. 'cause they're famous doctors that are announcers, Dr Jerry punch, for example. But Dr yeah. Now we have did we mention we have great guest on the suit? He is comedian Al Jackson now you, you said, did I make the assumption because you're African American heritage. You know nothing about hockey in the unit of a hockey story. I did not make that assumption. You felt that I actually went to been going went to maybe eight ABC games last season. Colorado hockey's a fun live game to go to him moves, it's, it's a fun go fast. But I actually I feel like I paid it forward. Put little good karma out for Joshua today. I'm flying to Cincinnati perform. And, you know, I got that thing where I'm in the aisle, and there's a, there's a middle seat that's empty minutes guy in the window and three minutes into the flight. I'm just like who is farting already on. So early. Like, who? Yeah, it's not funny because it's just you and your getting upset. So it's like every three minutes, I'm getting these like bursts of funk. Whatevs bright must gripped. I need a burst of fun. It was a burst of. The guy in the window. Who's watching a game seven laptop goes? My dad can't get on his phone where huge blues fans. Can he sit in the middle seat? So I was like game seven no problem. Yeah. "Bryan out contraire, my friend. I that's the point. You know what would be remembered, I'll tell you what's remembered lose long who we just talked about in the thirty six Olympics. We're talking about him almost one hundred years later because of his sportsmanship, you know, check Nickless all is great championships. He's remembered more forgiving three-foot putt to Tony Jacklin at the end of the Ryder Cup. If Jacqueline misses the US wins the Ryder Cup nNcholas gave him, the, and he's remembered for that, you know, you've got these other great examples out of soccer. There was a game where the goalie went down hurt. And the opponent had a wide open net the chance to kick it in and instead kicked the ball out of bounds. I mean you have all sorts of examples from other. Sports where people are remembered long after winning the Ryder Cup, whatever would have been remembered. So no. I think the US is going to be remembered in a very bad way for this. But. I can hear it in your voice. You're losing the argument you are being entirely disrespectful to Thailand women and your callers, whenever I ever been disrespectful to Thailand. I'm reporting the facts that ties were out there crying, their eyes out. They were you million in the in front of their families. Some exhibition but my friend, but the reality of the World Cup. And even I was able to learn this very quickly is beyond the first seven or eight teams. Again, it doesn't matter. You know, we could go down to Sears Roebuck and pull the first eleven how many people you have on the soccer field, pull whatever you need out of Sears, Roebuck and put him on the field. It'd be the same as this tight team. So now there's gotta be somebody who agrees with me here somewhere. Dan, when you're you're way up put in the second third fourth fifth string or the towel boy, the waterboy don't rub it in now there's an enlightened. Texter, thank you, my friend for that. Dan, American women's soccer team are just bullies. No. That's what they did. Here they bullied. This obviously under-sized undermatched team. They bullied them, and they made this nation look bad in the process. So, Dan, the Broncos taken to make sure the other team doesn't get the ball or a player gets injured has nothing to do with points nonsense, total garbage total garbage. I mean that's not why they do it. They do it because they don't want to disrespect the other team excuse me, and then have it come back to haunt him and some coaches just do it because they don't want to disrespect the other team. I mean we see it all the time we see it in basketball, we see it in baseball. You think do you think the cubs were stealing second today in the ninth inning when they were up ten to nothing not a chance? Let's go back to the phone lines. Don in beautiful Fort Collins, Colorado. You're on the Dan capless show. Welcome. Yeah. Hey, dan. How are you doing today? I know how you're doing today because I'm doing the same good. You know. There's, there's gonna be no winning position on this argument. I don't have a problem with the score going up to thirteen to nothing. If he did it the right way because, really, if we're talking about this honor the team. Fought their way to that tournament. If we were to take it easy on them, we would be dishonoring our opponents. So, well, it may may ask you on your premise, my friend. Does that mean the Broncos are dishonoring the opponent when they take a knee or college sports, which are centrally at the football pro sports? Now when when teams take a knee toward the end of the game to not score and additional touchdown. Are they dishonoring the opponent? Do you see fights start over that what you're taking a knee USO pain, pain pain? Yeah, don't fights about overtaken a knee. In that goes to I think the bigger reason why you're upset because now what is the definition of honor? In sports, in really, in society in our culture, large. Right. That's what I'm talking about. That's what I'm talking about. They represent American Don. They did not make us look very good. That was not honorable when they are an honorable people, but they could have while still scoring thirteen goals. You know, score the goals that you can score. That's the game. But yeah, you can't be celebrating a thirteenth goals like it was your, you know, a double overtime and acting bike, total goofballs, like they'd never scored before entire time. That was the demeaning part of the game. Don. Oh, they could still scored as many as they wanted. Don predate the call my friend. I, I do think it's important for people know there were those two issues is done was pointing out. It's a total score which he doesn't have problem with obviously. And then the celebrating like they just won the World Series after each goal against this pathetically weak team. This one says, Dan, what about when Ella Bama ends up the score sixty four to three on podunk state. Does anybody question that, yes, they do? It comes up all the time, and what you normally see in football, at least among the better teams there are notable exceptions. I agree. But we know about those exceptions because the teams have been called out for it. Normally what you see is first half. Normally a team that's up. Huge. Quebec look at Alabama's scores. You'll find exceptions, but most of those scores, they run it up big in the first half, and then they pull it back, and I know this is high school sports, but I use it as an example, you know, Dave Logan, one of the great coaches ever anywhere. You know, you look at Dave Logan, and his incredibly tremendous high school. Sports career. And this guy went on to play college pro as you know, Dave Logan is famous famous for calling off the dogs and avoiding running up the score on other teams. And I know it's high school, but it's still the point the point is respect. The point is honor the point is ports manship. That's why you see pro teams to it as well. And nobody's said it could come back to that have they Ryan. Nobody said a good comeback to the fact. Basketball football baseball top teams in pro sports. They show this respect all the time. They don't score every point they possibly can in every game that I agree with you on one of them is the issue of the clock and soccer, that's a fixed amount. You get to a certain point where you've won the game right baseball. I do disagree, because there is no clock. The argument you're making for tennis, that you could make golf, I would say in baseball applies. I don't adhere to those rules. If you're up ten nothing in the night if I'm managing a team and I have I will agree to stop scoring runs. If the opposing coach agrees to stop trying to in major league baseball. How often do you see teams stealing second in the ninth inning up ten runs but pre sheet the point back in a flash lines are jammed? Everybody gets on air on the Dan capital show. I say fire her fire the coach of the US women's soccer team for humiliating the United States. At bluecross blueshield, our companies take what we learned from.

"You're listening to the pony express. Here's Andrew Phillip pony. So Roger Goodell has gotten up on his soapbox before he's just finger that NFL players and said if you don't fix the Pro Bowl and make it more competitive, I'll take it away from you. Which is an idle threat, the NFL they've sold the Pro Bowl as part of their packages to these networks, maybe the next time the collective bargaining agreement comes out though do away with it. I still think it's doubtful. Even though the quality of the game is. Impossibly? Unbelievably boring. And you know. Very on entertaining. It's a tradition has been around for a long time. And I don't think the league is going to just eliminate a game that generates revenue for the sport. But I did say I had a pro solution. And this is seriously the best I could come up with. I don't think you are ever going to program and trick the best players in the league into thinking that a game. Like this means enough to play hard in the same and calm with the same intensity to this game as you would say in NFL regular season game. What makes the Pro Bowl? Look so bad. The reason why it's such an eyesore in my opinion is the timing of the game. You sane which it in between the championship games and the Super Bowl. You've got great bread. You've got terrible cold cuts. You're putting like olive loaf on it. You've got like just gross disgusting meat. You've got nothing in between. Championship games. Awesome. Super Bowl, the pinochle the apex the top of professional sports in this country. The biggest game the most watched game. And that's where the Pro Bowl has been for the last few years right in the middle of both of those things. So here's my solution. Instead of. Instead of having the Pro Bowl in Honolulu or in Orlando. Took the Pro Bowl every year in canton. In start every year. With the Pro Bowl. So the hall of fame game becomes the Pro Bowl. And that means that the iconic players in the sport. The active stars of the game. Go to the place that honors the past legends of the game every year. In that is the game that kicks off the next NFL season. It doesn't force two teams to play an extra exhibition game. Doesn't force to random teams who have most likely have players who are getting enshrined in canton the next day or the day before. However, they do it. I think it's the day before it doesn't force. Like the Vikings to play five games when everybody else plays for you. Do it this way every NFL team plays an even four preseason games. And then the star players go to canton for a weekend. And by then. By the time. The Pro Bowl rose rolls around in early August. You will be so hungry. For NFL football. You'll be so ready to watch a game. You might actually like the Pro Bowl because even though guys aren't going one hundred miles per hour. Even though they're not putting maximum energy in at least. You're watching really good players on a football field to kick off a year instead of third fourth and fifth string guys players who are going to get cut and you still pay the pro bowlers. You pay them the same way you do. Now, you give them extra money. You make it worth their while. I think if it's in August, you appreciate the game way more than you do right now. Because now the the quality of play goes from a five star gourmet meal. You just you just had one of the best meals year life this past weekend with two championship games that went to overtime. And now, you're next football entree is like a hot dog from a gas station that's been on a roller for seven hours. That's what you're eating today. If you watch this game. So I would just change the timing of it. That's what I would do. Here is Eddie in Pennsylvania. He's on CBS sports radio. Heidi? Hey, what's up? I think the problem with the Pro Bowl is it really doesn't have any merit. I mean, the audience knows that James know that you've got to put some behind the game. So my way to fix it is whoever wins the game. Whether it be AFC or NFC the next year when he ASU plays an NFC teams during the regular season conference gets home field throughout the whole season. I don't know if they'd be able to work out with the schedules or how that would work, but yeah, that's that's ridiculous. But thank you for the idea..
