"That is a huge question. The answer is absolutely absolutely we cycle and absolutely will follow the cycle. I believe the cycle of centralization decentralization that you talked about but air continues but consider this. We're on a helix cycle. Not a wave cycle a granted. A helix looks like a wave but we all know just isn't a wave. What's the difference. What i'm watching for is what do we do. At the capability for micro transactions that are immutable because sure the humans building. Many of these projects are guilty of quote. I'm going to build something that replaces your middleware with our middleware and quote. That is an astute observation. But the difference is i can't walk up to visa or salesforce or ibm and serve myself fifteen dollar piece of their middleware in the way that i can with many of the defy projects out there and sure not everyone will be part of our system but finally the technology is being built. It makes it possible as for the stupid names. I agree and the half me absolutely loves it. Of course. I have a thing for wacko doodle branding but yeah i'd get it you're gonna trust something called pancake. Swap with bunnies wearing syrupy hotcakes on their heads. It's real money. Eric weighed so that that was eric. Answer i i hope you found it You know valuable. Kate and thank you for writing in. I'm trying to get eric. Do crypto corner on the show in a regular basis. I'm gonna keep badgering about it. We'll see if we can get him on here. next comes out l. Thank you for writing our rights in all the time. And i love reading your emails al and in in your current email you said. So here's my question for you. What are your thoughts on. Holding gold via p. h. y. s. Which is the spot Publicly traded gold trust or sprott as opposed to holding stock such as your other recommendations meaning the other recommendations. I've made in the extreme value newsletter. I believe he's talking about when guys like dollar-euro hedge fund manager ray delio suggest diversification due to the dollar being undermined. It seems gold might hold more value of savings than stocks. This might be the case. Even though one can't see the dollar eroding in value currently maybe the dollar will implode due to a sudden realization of its being undermined or maybe financial asset valuation will seep into inflation. Where maybe it is. Simply a factor of all currencies being undermine that is holding the dollar up.

"How different are all. You're watching that. I'm watching the nba finals last night. What are you watching last night. I was watching fear street. So i watched fear street nineteen ninety-four then the next one. What were you watching last night. I didn't watch anything no. Tv none dirty movies. I'd classify screen. I wasn't watching anything. Yeah what's your history says. Okay no actually i. I did watch. I watched that was it called born. Choose choose freeman and watching that. Tell me how good that is. That is good. You know the thing about milton. Friedman that you fucked everything because you brought him up to talk about about him that so credible is he takes. He makes everything so very easily easy to understand very pragmatic um he doesn't get caught up in. The minutia of his talks about economics affects people and freedom. Highly recommend it's a it's an old series that was filmed. I believe in the nineteen seventies early eighties. But it's so relevant and what's good about a is. He makes predictions where he talks about will happen if certain things happen in those things did happen and sure enough is predictions came very true so it it stands the test of time so there is a really good one. I went down the rabbit hole to on that doug of milton friedman it salad sending over stuff. And so that that's probably why w both were watching and I found this video of him and the title is milton. Friedman debates young michael moore. Yeah you told me. It's not michael. No but it looks like it. But the the i found The debate really compelling because the person who who stood up to to challenge milton freeman. I thought had a very interesting argument that at at first ever face value i would actually kind of agree like he made it. He talks about a ford. The ford the pentos correct afforded the pinto. So ford came out with the ford pinto. And i don't remember what year it was but he came out with the ford pinto and i guess that they did not put this piece in a would have been in. I guess it was like a fifteen thirteen or fifteen dollar piece of plastic a plastic box that was between the bumper and the gas tank and ford opted not to do that. The reason why they opted not to do that. Because fifteen dollars times. I don't know how many tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of vehicles would cost millions of dollars to put that in the vehicle and they were trying to keep it at a certain price point and it was estimated that two hundred people year would potentially die from this from this and so when i hear that i'm like oh my god they put a car out there.

"The big east play to Paul is at Seton hall and also today Marquette is at Xavier let's look at your money on WGN historian Samuelson and after a higher opening on Wall Street the market backed away about fifty percent but now it's come back once again it's on a roller coaster today Dow industrial average up a hundred and fifty points the S. and P. five hundred up tam the nasdaq up sixteen and the volatility index of the CBO we is down a half a point the federal reserve will end its latest policy meeting today with interest rates likely on hold at just months to its balance sheet under discussion and them China's widening corona virus outbreak posing an unexpected risk to the global economy a growing list of countries and companies are curbing travel to and from China evacuating personnel and scaling back operations in response to the health care in the world's second largest economy turning to the brain great at the Chicago board of trade this morning the March wheat contract trading lower down seven and a half cents a bushel March corn is down one and three quarters saves and March soybeans trading down just a half open the a bushel livestock futures Chicago mercantilist change the April Lee log on track down a dollars seventy cents on Broadway the February live cattle contract is unchanged April live cattle trading down twenty two cents on red white and the January feeder cattle contract is tragedy a trading up thirty cents a hundred weight again those numbers on Wall Street the Dow now up on Britain thirty for the S. and P. of nine and the nasdaq is up eighteen but your money on seven twenty WGN thirty one degrees in Chicago I'm Stieber tried on Chicago's very own seven twenty WGN TV did the story about Martin Sandoval we call Marty or Martin I think we call a Martin them maybe less these days so this is this Illinois senator who is in charge of the transportation committee and was was steering deals towards this red light camera company that or protecting the camera the camera company from laws that might heard it right okay so he's running interference for them right and then they are giving him some money under the table out of money and it sounds like other people are getting money too so then one of the representatives from this red like companies wearing a wire at a restaurant in the suburbs and they record him and he's gonna look I'm doing all the work here everybody else is get money for nothing how come I can't get more money even though he was getting money right and the amount of money that we're talking those two hundred fifty thousand dollars for the senator yes hi I remain I mean I'm just going to be this way for the rest of my life I'm still amazed I'm still amazed that people get caught doing stuff like this in Chicago or Illinois what are these people subscribe to the Tribune it's in there every day you will get caught well maybe or maybe not maybe that's why people keep doing it because there are so many others who haven't been caught that that's maybe the scariest interpretation of this and maybe the most logical one why would they do it because John you have no idea how fast it is right that for every guy the gets caught you go see another one there's ninety two guys going Hey this is working out great for me I got a new swimming pool I don't know if they have swimming pools but you get my point the V. bad investment here I think it's not warm enough our friend Christian to query writes editorials for and columns for the Chicago Tribune follows the state scene as well as anybody and I asked her just to tell me what I'm missing here Hey Kristin it's John Stevens here to you're on the air good morning good morning get a jump in there anytime Kristin what am I missing all units missing anything I mean I think we are a state that is known for corruption this is obviously very blatant and what's what but it's a it's a surprise me too I mean even though I've been covering government for sports line as I have this is someone who was taking cash bribes after the raid at add Burke's office after everyone knows the feds are kind of full six nothing around after their questions about who might be wearing a wire he is still doing these transactions with this person first base speed who was under cover for down on that person has donate a lot of money to candidates safety has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to Canada the the plea agreement with senator former senator stand of all mentioned five other participants who took bribes as part of criminal activity we don't know who those five are yet really the US attorney who doesn't normally speak at at these kinds of issues did come out and talk to reporters a little bit John Lao Shi the trump appointee who's been there since twenty sixteen and he basically said we're just getting started who else then are the other five I mean are we will be talking state lawmakers right it could be it could be elected officials that could be mayors separately in a couple of federal raids the sun times has reported that the Oakbrook terrace mayor was found with sixty thousand dollars cash in his house yeah there is there is still a city in cook county commissioner I'm not sure why there have it hasn't been discussion of him to be ousted at this point that step down but nerds after ball ski fifty one thousand dollars in cash found in his home again that's not a crime but these are people who are advocating hard for these cameras to be installed so it's not a crime does sixty thousand dollars in cash although boy would my wife be surprised if we if I had a dove if I had a duffel bag or as I get maybe a safe but what is the purpose of having all of that cash cash in your home we have ATM is we we have debit cards you could put that money in the bank it would seem to me like it's not so much the keeping of the money or the having of the money as it is the reporting of the money if I I mean just I'm just talkin speculatively here but if I gave you cash and you deposited attended be a record of that but if I gave you casting you just left it in your home you wouldn't have to have a record of it in you don't have a record of it because it's ill begotten I mean that's what that looks like right Kristen well sure just Eckley speaking if you have sixty thousand dollars cash not traceable show E. imagine all the times that you do use your debit card now getting gas groceries restaurants all of that is at your disposal to pay in cash if you have a staff like that so it it it also in some areas it calls into question the top C. E. O. of the speed is also very politically connected who has said all along we don't pay people off I don't know anything about this she is sort of mentioned offhandedly in the plea agreement when the senator is asking how they can divide up the money that's gonna go into his campaign account every time there's a story like this that's the other part that amazes me if I make Kristin that is okay I'm I'm naive enough to be thunderstruck by the criminality of our lawmakers but then on the other side there's these businessmen and women who that's weird Hey guys let's I mean how do you how do you justify that to this the account for the verse are the CEO or the CFO all the people that are in a big multi million dollar company like that how do you say I need sixty thousand dollars in twenty dollar bills and I need another fifty thousand or ninety two hundred and fifty thousand I mean where's the accounting on that if nothing else and so those people are just as criminal as the state lawmakers right I mean it it's a good question how do you how do you acquire how do you come up with sixty thousand dollars cash for like you're saying I mean one of the bribes as fifteen thousand dollars at the companies will say probably that you know they were they were they were doing lobby activity they were hiring these people as consultants that's always a popular down reason to to throw people on your payroll obviously Commonwealth Edison is under scrutiny for hiring a bunch of lobbyists and there's a question as to whether or not there was any actual lobbying work that was done they make a lot of money I mean there was a bill in Springfield to eliminate red light cameras not for this reason specifically but this bill was floating around so this is why they pay what they called in a plea agreement protection money to make sure that that bill didn't get called to about but if there's money Kristin that much money changing hands are floating around for the lawmakers the higher ups in the companies involved of Goddard no all right I mean this money's coming from someone has got to has to be approved at some level we will leave when we have a party here somebody counts the pizzas I mean a little rain we're talking fifteen dollar pieces I know we're a small company compared to these other ones but answer the question I mean I I don't know I I think the I think it's hard to imagine that in these companies like this that there aren't executives to notice is going on and I'm not implicating anyone by saying that I don't have any specific knowledge of that I just think it would be hard to explain why this money is is shoveling out the door there's another there's another example in a plea agreement where they try to come up with kind of a Bologna companies understandable says and so some of the money the Tribune traced to this consulting company that I think it's a legit consulting company but you know they're just trying to find all the for ways to mask bribery so the consultants and the lobbyists that Serb those are legitimate occupations right sure yeah I think what we're learning is just a more listing of the curtain I mean it there are a couple points where sand of all the money is just going into his campaign fund in Illinois if you have money in your campaign fund prior to nineteen ninety eight when it when a law was passed you are allowed to spend that on personal items you can pay your mortgage with campaign money for it to the IRS I know it is completely wild west crazy stuff that overnight allowed that but they do and so in the case of federal she the second check the second count is that he didn't report money to the IRS and that's what catches up a lot of these people I mean you can there's an argument you made that contributions campaign contributions and themselves are some sort of Richard wanting something in return if you're a big company and you're writing fact checks to elected officials six three oh texted him and said Hey John all that those Democrats if they ran for reelection would still get reelected let's hear it for Illinois exclamation point I mean I think we're up to thirty three Chicago alderman who've been marched off to prison based on some sort of corruption connected to their official role than have that is an explanation but there's a lot who one of our law makers was honored already because you have been a lot of them haven't and bad defense Kristin so John said why would a politician do this after others get caught you know why and you just brought of sand of all after the birth rates but and I I posed one possibility is that because we're just hearing about a small fraction of them were actually doing it and a big majority are not being caught is that PA is that possible I mean what what percentage of of of the Krups schemes you think we're actually learning about I do not think that most lawmakers are taking cash bribes in restaurant parking lot I really don't I think a lot of the corruption in Illinois is more in the fabric of the way we just transaction basis and it it looks more like add Burke is accused of doing give my love business and business and then I'll be nice on these different types of legislation that you're looking for I mean these they think they're untouchable and in the case of sand of all remember we just passed last session a forty billion dollar infrastructure program that went through his committee and it's being paid for by you when you go to renew your driver's license your license plate fees are now higher they raise all kinds of taxes on gasoline to push that through and now I think it's legit to have some questions and actually the governor has said he's going to look through that door more carefully how many other little favors were stuffed into that program that taxpayers a potentially we're going to be paying for does this sound a little better maybe not like what simply go if it's to prison his argument of among others was that's the way business gets transacted we have not adequately defined what is and isn't legal lobbying in the state of Illinois if you want to put some money in my campaign account that's okay if you want to do business with me that's okay and why wouldn't I notice that and now we've got a relationship were working professional friends and now I do like your hospital construction company or whatever and I am going to steer business you're right I mean it's if that is legitimately happening over and over again and then when somebody steps to follow the law they said wait a minute when did the rules change like I completely understand that attitude out.
