"Yeah, of course, he had for him the local Jordan, you got some fans. He had a tough time. They were not good. Let's be honest. And I think it was just a matter of time before. He got sacked anyway, even if my cash just been the manager talking about manager's Graham joins his former system with tech charge now and today appoint the right guy. Part of francica a boy is on the short list amongst other name actress and fab and Frank Lampard. Where do you think they're going to go? They might go. I don't know. I think they're still casting a wide net. All we know is folks talking to him because he's unemployed as time on his hands. I think it'd be a great choice. But I think they're leaving the door open for others as they speak and they have a lot of trust in Graham John. So, by the way, as you said, Roberto Martinez is a longtime assistant. Can we show some love for Salzburg? They beat both for three one, the top of the group. And everybody loves Kareem Adi. He's been brilliant. That's so good to watch. So entertaining, a lot of young players with a lot of intensity a lot of movement a bit crazy at times. But the Emmy and Noah Kapoor who had a two goals and it really well, very entertaining, great towards, let's see how far they can go into also on the weekend against sheriff in midweek with the Gregorian Jekyll. Are they back on track now? Yeah, they're back on track. Obviously, they need to follow up. Ideally, by not getting stuffed when they go and travel to Transnistria, I think a point would do them and then they can hopefully sort things out, although obviously they prefer three points. I thought of it that actually played really well scored a nice goal at the end to make it three one. I think it was important. We always talk about aim to add in chaos and psycho drama. It was important that after they kind of lost their nerve at the end against Lazio and that acrimonious at the weekend they bounce back where the professional performance and they did. We told you it would happen. Well, not just us. Everybody in the world did and obviously it did onto fati, has signed a new contract at Barcelona. I think it's a big relief for everybody all around. That is the important part. It's not the €1 billion clause that's in there. That's just a weird pork or Spanish football. Exactly, please don't focus about that 1 billion. It was similar for the pedry extension. Don't worry about that. Just saying that it's another of those very talented youngsters that we stay at the club on the long term until 2027 I think that's the length of the contract great news. Funds to fatigue come back after a year out in great form already would be a key player for Barcelona in the classical. And that's a really, really good thing. Now you can focus on gavi and whoever else you want to extend and give a new deal. But that's only I think it's a big way of the shoulders are everyone at the club around the club to know for sure that unsupervised will stay will stay at the club. FIFA president and infantino spoke after the FIFA council on Wednesday. The final World Cup is getting closer, isn't it? I don't think so, I think it's moving further away. Obviously there's been a ton of opposition to this from UEFA and Commodore. Infantino saying, well, we're going to have another big stakeholder meeting and just before Christmas, he almost seemed to distance themselves. Well, it's not my plan. It's arsen vendors plan and people have asked us to do it. I think it's a combination of the opposition. I just, the fact that maybe he also ran some numbers and said, maybe this isn't quite as lucrative as we thought it would be. I think also some other confederations have gone a little bit lukewarm on this, thinking of Asia here. Look, I you know my thoughts on this. I'm all for trying something different. I hope that the good parts of the reform. And I go back to this, reforming the transfer windows. Sorry, international windows so that we don't have a break in September, breaking October break in November breaking up the season and everything less travel more meaningful games. The mandatory rest period. Those are all good things that that was part of the plan, but I hope we don't lose that part simply because we're not going to have a ban or World Cup. Also look out for the fact that we might see other solutions, whether it's some kind of global Nations League at the end or maybe there's a top 8 play somewhere or top 16, you know, some sort of reduced version, but tying it to the nations that you can in each confederation, which right now only exists in Europe and North America, of course. Or possibly a Club World Cup, a proper full blown 24, 32 team Club World Cup to be held somewhere. I think that is still an alternate possibility because they want to raise some funds. They want to raise development funds. There's no question about that. On that front, it is about money. Yeah. Korean Benzema's trial over the material Buena sex tape is underway. He wasn't there, remind us of what's happened and what's at stake? Oh yeah, he's been charged for for black mating or attempt to blackmail. It's not him directly but through other people. To blackmail, much with the sex tape, someone final Buena is phone and almost threatened. It's not that clear but threatened to put it out unless but when I was giving money, basically, this is the idea. Everybody is disputing what kind of format they ask for money didn't ask for money or anything like that. And then they spoke to volunteers put it out when they were together with the national team in 2015 but that video there was someone quite close to Benzema that was also involved in this. And actually, we thought that we were not going to have a verdict until maybe in two or three months, but it looks like the verdict could happen as early as Friday. So you will know if I'm Benzema is probably innocent or actually guilty and what the sentence could be the risk 5 years in jail and €75,000 fine. So we will know apparently tomorrow on Friday we're recording this on Thursday. The fate of Karen benziman, the other guys charged in this much sex tape black med story. The Premier League clubs have voted to ban clubs who grieve sponsorship deals with companies linked to their owners so for example, right now, Manchester City and Etihad could not have the sponsorship that they have the sponsorship that they have right now under this new low this new vote. This is quite significant, isn't it? Well, there's two things that we had to vote on 18 of the 20 clubs voted in favor of Manchester City abstained. And Newcastle funny enough voted against it. Not entirely clear if this is legal, if it's a restraint of trade issue, personally, I understand where they're coming from on this. And it's all linked down the road financial fair play and whatnot. If you remember going back UEFA had a ban or done a band, but they looked at what they called related party transactions..

"Internally about that. Yeah it's really. It's an interesting conversation for as i said. This is the twenty ninth of a fever game. The a sports is produced invested massive multiple hundreds of millions of dollars over time to build a really compelling platform for players. It's also constructed over three hundred individual license agreements outside of the fee for and over time. I think we've invested a huge amount brand nicotine goodwill into the fief name we've polishing with diva obviously maybe a real spring bowl in the platform from brand as we grew it from nothing what it is today but we all seeing more polarization at the moment. I mean every broadly. So we see that in society in politics particularly there's very little balanced semester willingness to hear it understand those conflicting opinions and we have to balance those opinions across a massive spectrum. Pause so i think what was seeing football right now is conflicting strategies play about how to govern grow and commercialize in very few of those discussions. Today we heard from what we believe. Only voices the really matter. Which are the fans in the players you know like little. Football isn't really an industry in and of itself. There's no output say It doesn't really produce value beyond entertainment and without the actors in the audience. There isn't really any entertainment. The total so cripple do that. A few of the governing bodies possibly could do with a few few of leagues and teams. Maybe under the right circumstances but it called do with a few few players and suddenly a few few fans so as we think about how we global football community to evolve and grow we should be careful all of us not overreach for individuals benefit of expensive the whole we are seeing that in a number of areas right now. Everybody wants their own not platform. All atc cmo not polarize. These phantom absorbs as much of the engagement as possible. An polarization seems to be a strategy many organizations right now. That's really tough. British poll to our job is actually to still concentrate lots of licenses into one hole. The players can engage with regardless of which you know which type of anew are. what's your favorite. Which favorite team even down to your favorite athlete so in my view. Some of that behavior is quite dangerous. Shouldn't be positioned as lose it. She'll be position does growing the whole for the benefit of everyone. The point i guess you're making is the game. You pay at a very very large license for the fever brand and the question i guess is can the game thrives of i've move forward without that official endorsement. That's one bit of the desert. There's a sort of brand question there and oversee a very deeply commercial question in terms of whether or not would numbers fall off. A cliff took fever off. That would people know to come to he. A without the fee for name is that. Is that what you're getting. That's part of the equation. I guess it's absolutely fundamental to the equation and we believe a platform that we built a mma combination of experiences. We offer would thrive whether the game is called fee for not now has huge value. We contribute its value over time. Kids play fifa play Connected football platform experience at obviously not good will needs to be replaced and you replace it through content and through investment and the good news is we have a lot of content and we're willing to put a lot of investment against it. Now we all just exploring oil. Might look like if we were to move in a different direction. But there's nothing preordained. Negotiating with an incredibly valuable thirty visible global partner. And i think this is natural course of negotiation regardless of what happens whether the game is called fee for in the future on not as both for business and the millions of fans and players that we have around the world will continue. I think it will fry. But they're all benefits in their challenges on either side of the equation is just something as responsible business owners in custodians of the digital version of football that we need to consider it a deeply come up with a solution the benefits those two populations i said the most and fans amidst athletes so that's brutally consideration lies and obviously has removed through negotiation we with Side the strategic future digital cable. We'll get to a bit answer. I mean the the cliche has grown up. The you know the the young people only know fever for as a game and not a governing body. Do you think that's true in our research probably. Yeah that might be a little bit of confirmation bias there because we're asking people what they think of. You know the defacto official football game in the world. I do think when you say fifa to a person under the age of even thirty five forty on the street. They might initially think video game. I that's due to the scale. An investment that we put into the game and into the spoiled a long mistime but fever is the global governing body. Obviously they are responsible full. The way in which football is played out across the world that are responsible for rules and the processes by which grows and thrives and they have a massive role to play in the future of football. I just think there is a difference when we talk about. We talk about this. Massive engage population of interactive video game players and when other people talk about feta more often than not left thinking about rightsholder governing body potentially in a position of authority right now and those things. There is some friction. There's a little bit of tension because one is very very open and it won't come up late fee for you can play for free mobile phone. Obviously this investment. That needs to be if you're planning a council. By with the other fever the governing body of fever there are moves afoot right now to try and make sure that it was a bit more control over the way in which owners managed operationalized. And i think the two different strategies a play which is probably why we're having some the conversations we're having right now about renewal in renegotiation and when he's the renew. The renewal is. It's a long term deal that we have with the ends of the end of the twenty two cycle just after the world cup. So there's a little bit of time for us to come to a good agreement that benefits both sides but obviously we make software. We don't create the day before we release it. So there is some real hot timelines deadlines there that we need to be. Cognizant of the whole team here. He is very aware of those headlines. World is operating a large community of players who rely on us to ensure the with delivering amazing experiences. So we all prioritizing in the negotiation of making sure that we're delivering a really robust platform long into the future So we need to get some answers relatively quickly. She thinks that the fief brand more generally is losing confidence in it sums of talk fifty. That's a word to to it. You know it goes. It's in the news all the time and we're going for a lot of flux in in football. Is that part of this. You don't want it to rub off on your brand. I mean we are currently inextricably linked to that brand and.

"But it's every four years. And he's young. He needs something to do. So we've seen him a lot of missteps about first it was going to be this Club World Cup, you know, and I remember being in Colombia in Bogotá in 2018 in March, where he said to the council, guys, you got to sign this paper. I'm not going to tell you who it's with, but I've been promised $25 billion. I've got it and the deal has to be done in 60 days. I've signed an NDA I can't tell you who it's with, but it's for these Club World Cup. But let me do it. He had his pants pulled down. You know, they said, absolutely no chance. Certainly Europeans are saying, well, what Club World Cup 25 billion with who? What about champion? So that happened. And there have been other kind of promises and ideas. Now we've lighted on this biennial World Cup, you know, certainly appeared in May of this year, but in the Saudi FA fig leaf FIFA perhaps. And again, it's being rushed through. We need to do it. We need to do it. We need to do them December 20th. We have to have a vote. And it feels like another idea and again, headlong rush straight into a concrete wall. So there is this psychology a little bit of the man. And then in terms of what there is, yes, again, it hasn't shown us the finances. People I've spoken to. There is no way that it will be double. You have it twice over double that doesn't work like that. There is finite commercial money that's finite TV money and then the appeal of something that is not as rare as it once was. Is an important factor here. But it would be more. If you had, I don't know, say it's worth 6 billion now. Add another 3 billion say, you know, three and a half, maybe you get to 8 billion for two rather than 6.1. You know, my maths aren't great. You know what I mean? It would be a bit more, but it wouldn't be double. So there's that stuff. And then there is the the kind of politics of football. How do you become FIFA president? You become the favorite president by promising 211 national associations something. And most of them are small. But all of them have the same voting rights. So Guam you know an island nation of God know thousands of people will have the same vote voting rights as Brazil 200 million. USA, Germany. So these are all socks. It's all electioneering often as well. This is a structure of football. And again, for me, it speaks to something that really needs to be looked at again, torn down and start from scratch because to me, it seems outrageous in a way that clubs who employ all these players whether they're in Europe and Brazil or Asia, wherever have no say over what happens. The leagues have no say the players unions have no say. And then suddenly, you know, Bangladesh decides what's going to happen. I know a friend's magnet should have a say, but, you know, Barcelona doesn't have a set. To me, we might need to relook at how a decision making works in football. And this is structure republic not just at fever regional level at the confederations to. So it's a long, long way of saying, yeah, money's a very important, probably the most important part of this..

"The generation Xbox podcast. This is episode number two, 181, I'm rehearsal. Joined as always by Steven. How are you doing? Pretty good, pretty good. It's been a good week. Playing FIFA. Yeah. I've been good. It's been a busy week. But yeah, finally, settled down a little bit and got to play some games yesterday. Played some over the show. I did play FIFA last weekend and also played some battlefield and some of the halo flight test thing that they've gone on. So we can talk about that as well. But yeah, lots of good stuff going on and you know, I had a new setup now to play games Steven and it's amazing like I might not be quite as bad at shooters as I thought. Because some of the like, why? So when I play plate and then we leave the show and I put it in the all of a sudden like I was way too fast for everything. Because of the different monitor and how I'm sitting in screen size and all that good stuff, right? And now it was a thing where it's like I'm just waiting way too early and then I went and played a game of battlefield and all of a sudden I was like third on my team and score. And all these things. So maybe this is like the perfect baked and excuse to. It was all the TV. The whole time. Yeah. Sure. You know? You don't sound sold. No, I mean, I definitely with you on helping baseball out. Like I remember when I was struggling a couple years ago with hitting. Like I was looking up some like tips for it 'cause I couldn't hit on all star for whatever reason. And it was like, well, you could play on a monitor instead of a TV reduces input lag. And I mean, fair, but your body, your brain's very smart, and it adjusts and, you know, it kind of adjusts to the input lag. And you get used to it and then so when you switch monitors with no input lag or very, very little. Of course it's going to be, you know, you're going to be messing up a lot. So well, yeah, for me, it was like when I was playing on the TV before, it was a 65 inch TV, which I know, a lot of people say, don't play on something that big anyway. But yeah, but you know what I have to say to those people. What? Shut up. So, yeah. Oh. No one was playing on there. Like, when I face somebody that throws like a hundred miles an hour, especially online. I guess such a hard time catching up. Then I know that it's supposed to be that way. But it was like it was the type of thing where you're looking at it and it's like, I really feel like I'm on time here. But I wasn't. And I was way behind. And it was the type of thing where you fall it off and then you're like, I was a little bit late, and then you see that you're like really late. And it just never added up. So anyway, hopefully that solves a lot of my shooter issues. We'll see. We have to start last night, though, when, you know, of course, I carried you a bed in some halo. Oh is that what happened? Yeah. So initial impressions, though, because, you know, first time, I know they've had other rounds with the flight..
Fresh update on "fifa" discussed on Caught Offside
"Oh, back now on caught off side. JJ, we mentioned this at the top of the show how back during the Super League and all of the chaos that took place within in the end, what was it like a 72 hour period of chaos, but amongst that chaos, we did multiple shows in that window and one of them featured tariff panga of The New York Times and the response that we got to that interview was so overwhelmingly positive during what was kind of a dark time for the sport and so now whenever news and notes and things like that are happening around the world of soccer. He is, of course, one of the people that we love to speak with most. And he's with us once again to talk about a few different issues happening right now in soccer Tarek panja from The New York Times. What's up man? How are you? Yeah, no bad good to be with you guys. Yeah, we appreciate you making some time. We had initially when we reached out to you, we kind of want to talk about the Newcastle situation and we will certainly do that. But within the last couple days or so, this biennial World Cup this every two year World Cup idea seemed like it was gaining steam. It seemed like FIFA, we're going to push this through, come hell or high water. And I know there's a lot of fans out there that are really concerned about this. I don't get the sense from at least the people we interact with on this show. I don't get the sense that a lot of the fans want this. And I'm kind of wondering, what is the state of the biennial World Cup right now? It is that's a very good question. I suppose it is, again, in this discussion stage, but it's not really a discussion in some parts I describe it as maybe a shouting stage. FIFA initially, we're talking or preaching to the converted they were talking to Africa, for example, first and when you talk about confederation like that, in a sense, that is almost a subsidiary of your FIFA fee for essentially took over the African football confederation about a year ago because internal issues there. And the leadership of national efface on that continent have pretty much been doing FIFA's bidding and have been nodding in agreement for political reasons as much as sporting reasons and that that was always going to be the case with this. It was always going to be tricky was with Europe. Both UA for the European confederation. The clubs, you know, it's without doubt, no disrespect to any other part of the world. The global club game is centered in Europe. And that's the power base of that. And the leagues by the same token extremely powerful. And they've been wholly opposed to that uniform league, the UEFA being the league's been the clubs. And even the often current players and coaches who are still active in the game at the moment, FIFA is enlisted a group of former players, very famous people, but they don't play the game anymore, and they are wearing fever t-shirts when they're talking on behalf of fee for unsurprisingly, that they've been quite positive and some of the people who haven't been quite so positive haven't been given the air time by to talk about this. This week has been particularly interesting. There was a FIFA council meeting on Wednesday. But before that on Tuesday, Gianni infantino the fever president entered the lines then over Zoom. I had sort of discussed the plans for the reform of the calendar led by the burning World Cup with the 55 national association heads, and he was given a torrid time. One after another, they rebuked him personally. Some of them. And rebuked the plan. And in many instances, it was like, you know, while you taking a while are you taking away from us in order to do this? Where's the where's all the rationale? There's journey says, we're doing the sporting side now. How it would look and how it worked and then we're going to discuss the finances. We're still we're still figuring it out with the financial impact will be both on the tournament and on the rest of the game. But he was also pushing for a vote on December the 20th. They were like, hang on a minute. If none of this is being worked out, why.

"I will tell you with our sports team this week. Let's talk NHL, which comes out here in just a couple of weeks. And that means that it's time to start seeing some play rating reveals. And they do it in a real drip type away. They're not just going to come out and be like, here's the best overall guys. You know, we kind of do it by category by attribute. And they do topless by attribute for lots of different attributes that, you know, people tend to care about the game. So let's run through some of these and let's start. Let's see where it was right here. Where your favorite squad has someone making appearance. And it might not be the rating or the actual you're hoping for. It's topped in strength. Where Ryan gets off the pier. So the 92 overall or 92 rating in that kind of work. Interesting. I'm joining the likes of Alex with asking Victor hedman. Mila luce, Ryan Reeves, Zac casting and more all showing up in the top ten there. But let's get to the attributes that everybody kind of comes to see when they're looking at all ratings. As you mentioned with FIFA speech absolutely kills an HL. And speed plays a huge huge role in this game. So the top ten fastest skaters will start out with no surprise Connor McDavid. As 96. Nathan McKinnon, 94, Matthew bars all from the islanders of 94. Taylor hall, Dylan Larkin and kasperi Kaplan all. There are also joined by kil mccart Quinton Hughes, Johnny goudreau, and of getting kuznetsov. All 93s in speed. So there's your fastest skaters, I would say it's about right because McDavid's generally considered considerably the fastest player in the game. McKinnon would make a lot of sense as the next guy. So that is about right. If you're looking to tee up some good shots and chill, it's never a bad thing to have Alex of asking on your squad. And he leads the way in top ten rich shot power with a 95. The 93s in that category awesome math usually on dry side all Patrick lining John Carlson. 92s go to Steven stamkos Andre scheduling. Nathan McKinnon, Tyler Sagan and Brock besser from Vancouver. When it comes to accuracy, awesome math.

"But I think if all 20 teams revenue wasn't there, I'd be worried about the longevity of an annual game. Yeah. Under 8 with those sales numbers. But anyway, so what's your go to mode before we move on? So out of all the modes you said so far, what one, two months from now do you see yourself still playing the most? Okay, it depends if I get addicted to ultimate team. I have been known to do a time or two. And how good the packs are. But barring addiction to ultimate team. I think career mode is going to be my go to and always will be my go to because again, I like, you know, when especially since arsenal has been so shit in real life for the last few years. I mean, they have won a couple F a cups. But they haven't fought for the lead or the league in since Leicester one. And that wasn't even that close. It's always nice to actually have a successful arsenal campaign in the game, you know, winton league, do the double the treble, you know, with winning three cups. And then getting back into European football. So I think it's going to be crew mode. Last year, 21, I started playing BFO more than I ever have, and I really enjoyed it. Especially since I've gotten a lot better than when I first picked up FIFA back in FIFA 11 or 12 or whatever. So it's going to be one of the two. I haven't fully decided yet. Sometimes they like going back and forth. So let me ask this question before I promise we'll move on. If I were to jump an ultimate team in FIFA. So I am somebody who has gotten incrementally more and more and more into soccer or football as we call it globally in recent years. Do you think playing alternate team would be the best way for me to get more into it knowledgeable or maybe campaign or what would that look like? That's a good question. I remember playing ultimate team in one of my first years of FIFA. And that's where I learned a lot of players. You know, I basically in all England squad or at least all Premier League squad. What you're trying to get max chemistry and you can get a good team without spending too many coins, and you can earn a lot of coins pretty quickly, which is nice. So that's good. On the other hand, playing with one team is kind of fun and having the same players and then like looking to buy and you see a guy you may want because you play against them or you just kind of find someone on the transfer market that's going to help your team. And then now you hear about them and then you see them in real life and it's kind of cool. Seeing them. And then seeing someone the World Cup's always fun 'cause I remember Mario goat side never really heard of him, and then he had the really awesome diving header. You know everyone called him Super Mario back in 20 14 World Cup, maybe 2018. And, you know, I went and bought them in FIFA because I wanted a bottom in a career mode, like purchased him from whatever team he was on at the time..

"More than anything else, and it has been for a while. So I picked son or son from Tottenham, I can't believe I put him on my squad and ultimate team. I still feel dirty about that. But he's insanely quick. And he was like a lone player, you can put in your ultimate team and get him for like three games. And he's very noticeably faster than almost everyone you're playing against defensive wise. So he's going to beat everybody. And when you're one on one with the keeper, it's pretty doesn't really matter if you have the greatest striker in the world. You're going to score a lot of the time. So any team that has a lot of speed and youth is going to be successful online. And offline. But especially online. It is very noticeable when you're getting beat by guys because you're slower than them. And I might be throwing questions actually or a little unfair this early in your review process. But just tell me if that's the case. But do you feel like FIFA is a game where people that play you that the game different ways can can all be successful and have fun with it? And by that, I mean, I don't mean moes. I mean play style. So if you're a counter, like a counter attack type player versus a constantly pushed the pressure, if you're somebody who does positional rather than a lot of speed, like, can you still be really good or is it a thing where just speed kills and that's going to win the day? Well, I mean, counterattacking wise absolutely kills. Because now you only have a few people back on defense speed becomes less an issue if you just put in pressure on. You can win by getting the ball the outside crossing it in the box and heading the ball into the goal. You can win by three balls and lob through balls to the speedy wingers and strikers to attack the box. I think if you play in ultimate team, you need to have a plan and build your team around that plan. So if your plan.

"Squads of that people have made, and then you earn points, and then at the end of the week or whatever you get, whatever bracket you're in, you get cards and it's all offline so you can play it single player, which is nice. And I did play a couple online games, the online is pretty smooth. Albeit, you know, I was pretty bad. I think I won one out of the three. Well, remember too, you're getting the super right now. Super hardcore. And I have not played FIFA online in a long time. And then I did dabble in the franchise or like career mode. As arsenal and you know, try to fix their nightmare of a team. And I mean, it's good. If you like the career mode, I've never had an issue buying FIFA and playing just career mode. I've enjoyed it. It's a fun little game when I just want to play soccer match or 7. When I'm bored in between stuff and FIFA 22 has that for you. I do think let's start in a bit. So sorry I didn't even know each other. So you're an Arsenal fan. Do you play with them primarily then or? Yeah, in career mode a 100%. Okay, so if you're gonna play versus just online no ultimate team, are they the squad you're going with? Who are you gonna pick there? Probably, the thing I hate about versus mode in FIFA is the same thing I hate about versus mode in every other sports game. And that's the majority of the same teams. Plays as like PSG. Barcelona Liverpool back when Barcelona was good. Real Madrid. Back when they were good. Man city, right? The top teams, the Yankees, the Red Sox, the Dodgers, the well. I mean, no one saw the Giants coming. But you know what I mean, right? They picked those squads, and it's really boring. And you play in this arsenal..

"Anyway saw us like the horror version of that. And I just, I don't know. Like, when you're churning in when you're in the odds and you're turning out films year after year after year to year to year, kind of like. What's more really set up the camera in the bedroom, so you might have a paranormal activity. Yeah, like that, too. Like the first one was really good, I thought. Yeah, oh, I watched that one a little like a few months ago and that was terrifying. Especially when I got home the next day. And I was like, in my room, I'm like, oh my gosh. Yeah, that was pooping a movie. But when you're turning out , like, every single year, a new one? Yeah. I just feel like it's a little, it's gonna have gaps, right? It's gonna have some clunkers. Early slasher films did that pretty much at 13 home streets, I think. We're kind of like that. And it showed like there were some clunkers in there. So anyway, you should get some of them ago. I would recommend Halloween like the first 5 halloweens around on four K blue this year. I know but it's one of the weird things where that series is one of the weird ones where you can't get all of them on like the Xbox store. Yeah. There's something that are just not there. So you can get the coming soon, you'll see the Friday 13th collection and night run out of street collections like marked way down here. So anyway, but I know they're available on streaming services too. So anyway, let's talk some video games and apologies everyone before we start because it's going to be a sports ball. Heavy can weak, but it is that time of year. And those are the games that are coming out right now. So let's dive in and let's start with some FIFA and the early premiere previews out right now if you have X 5 X game pass or you have a play on PlayStation and you can get the game and place do and you've played a decent amount of it so far I've done like one match and the intro part as well. So I haven't done quite as much as you, but what are some of your early impressions on FIFA 22? Yeah. It's a FIFA game. It feels a lot like.

And i thought hot volga which is strange. Way to describe van because mice rock bands. Were a touch of all of that. But i thought everything about him. That says his arm in this bad. I am the singer of this band and it was true he just fitted in perfectly and i cringed a little bit because i do a lot of swearing and i just wasn't used to so at the end of the show. Everybody roared it. Went over extremely well and i was about to leave and the managers sit. You know you're going to come back and say him and i hadn't intended to. I thought i've seen among just joe tara. But i think and i went back and it just changed completely. Just change completely. When i went back was so charming he was so alive. Vanda was from dutch family who migrated when he when he was a kid. You're migrant was meaningful. did you connect to that level. You think. I think what happened without really knowing it. I always felt that the album family was my family. And i think the reason that it was like that was i. It was unspoken but none of us had any issues with anyone being anything. If you went astray in in the outside world. I was considered walked for so many years ago and it was just a really really demoralizing. Albert's i mean we had a maltese tea lady. Show the should be complicated issues. I what really annoys me is people just without having any understanding to say equal pay equal pay. No because it's a lot more complicated than that. The reason the women said this is a publicity stunt is because the women aren't a very different situation to men when it comes to when it comes to equal pay because for example most of the men get their entire healthcare recovered they play for professional most of them in europe and stuff and they get a lot more benefits from playing for the national club. Which a lot of the women who might play in the wwl less money they don't necessarily received so you can't treat them one hundred percent equally. That's not what the women are asking

Lionel Messi's Paris Saint-Germain Deal Includes Cryptocurrency Payment
"Apologies to the sporting savvy out there bear with us. But for those who don't follow football. You should know its biggest star argentinian. Lionel messi just left the club. He's been with for most of his career barcelona to sign a two year contract with paris. Saint germain often referred to as ps g. And that's how we'll continue to refer to them here why you may ask. Are we telling you this. No it's not an attempt after our previous victory and interesting nate and sport during his last appearance to make him love the beautiful game it has to do with. Nfc's you see big. Sports stars get paid big money and just the welcome package that gave messy was worth twenty five to thirty million euros. I would like a welcome back like that. It included some. Ps g crypto currency. Fan tokens from socio dot com. These tokens let fans hold them. Vote on some minor decisions regarding the club. Like what song is played in the stadium during warm ups or the message. That will be on the captain's armband for example. So ceo's dot com says. The sale of the tokens has generated close to two hundred million dollars for its partner clubs this year. They've got a good half dozen or so Partner clubs and of course fans who buy them and then try to sell them for more than they paid them for them. And there's a brisk business in that trading volumes before messy signed with. Pse reached one point two billion dollars so giving messy a bunch of them gives him a volatile asset that he could potentially sell for millions. And these things are benefiting. Ps as well the ps fan token generated thirty million euros in sales this past week and it's estimated. Ps g keeps about half of that. If not more

Why Barcelona Legend Messi Is Leaving
"Are finally going to mention what was the biggest sports story on Planet Earth this weekend. It was not anything that happened at the Olympics, and it was not anything that happened in Canton, Ohio, and it was not anything that happened on a baseball diamond near or far from you. It was and I will give new no 30 seconds to explain to everyone who doesn't already know why it's such a big deal. It was Leon l messy the greatest soccer player in the world and his tearful divorce from Barcelona, where he has made himself a legend. And I will admit new. No, I need the education on this. Tell everybody why this happened and why it is the biggest sports story on planet Earth. The simplest thing is Barcelona's finances are so messed up, um, that they can't afford them afford. Afford him. The league wouldn't allow them to sign Messi back even at a 50% discount. Um and I've tried to equate what it would truly be. It would kind of be like with Brady leaving, um, the Patriots. But if Roger Goodell said, Hey, he's not allowed to come back. That's the thing like Sometimes I read about things that happened in international soccer and European soccer in particular, and I am the first to admit, I don't know almost anything about it. I didn't grow up following it. I know enough about it to cover it for television, which I've done for years, but I don't know the ins and outs. And every now and again, things like this happened and I find myself thinking. How do they deal with this? Like what kind of system is this? If this stuff happened in American sports, we'd lose our minds like what's going on right now on the first take in

"It's fine playing on the jewel, sensing that triggers cutting in my players are getting exhausted off like really special and it helps me pick up more. It makes me better at the game cuz it helps me pick up on like players that are more tired than others. So like I can pick up with like my Defenders are getting really exhausted cuz the trick is a really tense. But if I can take a through ball looks like someone like on the wing instantly loosens up, I can spread easier, right? And like they just like run down the pitch. And you're like completely changes the experience cuz usually that's the kind of stuff wouldn't even think about because like, I'm not looking at FIFA playing it and thinking they are visibly, getting slower. I just think I just run, run run, but em when your triggers are like, really, really tense halls. And you realizing I need to get the ball off this player or slip them and it keeps me like, in the game. Seems like the jewel scents, like you say entire but like the user experience, it's it's so much better and if you haven't tried it, like it's hard to describe why cuz it just just sound annoying like compared stuff. But there's something really special about how much more actually doesn't mesh with a game. I like going between that and Xbox series is nice to see redress. Just feels really.

The the obvious severe god that every single person that supports a team has one mellow with ten minutes to go up. -solutely loves it fallen over waste. In tying the golden goal is music for that as you try sanitize again all of us. Let's talk a five assayed right then. We'll get rid of all the other stuff. Frank what do you think about this thirty minutes. I will go with stevie in the fact that is true that if you want to sanitize the game that will be the great solution. Because it's true that you can avoid cheaters. People pretending to be injured for example. Whatever it is. I go back to the basics. Foodball stevie would be pleased is played on the field. We two goals one ball and for ninety minutes that what it is and it was that what it was at the beginning of it and the ninety minutes perfectly made. i don't know who created and we'll burston. We created football. But i want to thank you because when i was playing the is after eighteen minutes. I'm sure i'm sure you are the best but the after eighteen minutes that you start getting very very much tired of the game so i don't know if you stop the clock because for me. Stop the clock. You have to go for the thirty meat because of the wider games gonna last like two or three hours and we go back to the tv rights improv that may be defining basketball but lewis was what talking about before but i really think that we shouldn't forget the history of the basics football in the big picture. I'm not talking about the three. But i'm talking about the and that nineteen does nineteen minutes are very important for will game. I think this is the last sign that we will discuss this. "Of the game. What may be throwing all of a sudden taking away defending taking away other cups. I'm just. I'm just telling well. Well i'll tell you what you know. He's not going to be happy throwing coach. They'll my omit throw the friendly. So i'm to have one pass no by louise. What do you think get rid of. I think that we will. We've trying to to move forward and to make the game foster because new generation there'd been these top for for quite a while because they don't they want to see more action more speed. But i think removing the throwing at the point is not to be good either because you have to stop where you have to star if the ball is moving. We've seen it with the freakish when you try to make to to start with the freaky quick and more has to be totally stop so if we start doing that with the throw winds. You're trying to speed up the game you put. The ball is going to be the same. You're gonna be the referee whistling. No no you have to go back you have to have here. You have to stop the ball so we are trying to increase the pace but also we're going to slow down the game and it's stopping the game once again so a big fan of this rule moving onto the next one will see but this one. I'm not fun. Frank last word on your throwing the yes. Yes the only problem for me that you can find is where do you put the open when you're gonna kick the ball because he has to go far away in order for you to kick ins. That's going to be the main problem. But if stevie is really uptight. On that matter i'm very. I'm very excited to talk about the other rule visiting front. guess what. I'm gonna do a final coach. What i'm gonna do every time we throw and i'm going to pale everybody in the box and i'm going to get the guy who can kick it seventy odds you want. Now what's the difference between rory delap. Everybody can kick the ball seventy. Everybody can take along through on okay. Let's move on from the throw ins louis. Which of these suggestions do you like. If any if any finals most of them. I read that he was one that maybe you could have told the the game m the time when the ball goes out. But that's mean that means that you're gonna play thirty minutes so funnier so to be honest. I liked to change the game. But i'm passionate of what we go. That's why three point. Five billion people watch this game. And that's why he's been so famous in the past eight years and growing up in in this community as more people is what is so. I understand that we need to move forward. That's why is being implemented. That's why we are changing some of the rules but the massive group like this one's like shutting the game at two thirty minutes. There's no way that i can see because then we're gonna start to their different programmatic. Were those thirty minutes. I'm going to be what that means for the tv rights. Because that's that means that thirty minutes of the game and we're going to be watched for the people in their houses. So that's that writes. Dodge sold it. He's to be less multiple for the club's for for the game. So when you thought these kinds of massive reuss days to be touched a nap to be honest. i'm very happy that way. The looks at the moment. Thirty minutes makes sense saving. At least then you know you're getting that allotted time. Football at the moment is a lottery. No snow of course. Today's wish no highway saying rolling in minutes. No each off with the team wastes in the. We're gonna play. But i don't know let me just funny. I don't know the exact. I don't know the exact but the in that on average with the stall. Pg's the goal kicks unum a- that we get a vote between sixty seventeen minutes again right. So let's see we get sixty five arguments so we're gonna completely change the whole way of funding for five minutes. I suppose it's consistency. Isn't it now if you compare australia australia. Australian say too late belgium against italy. The ball was implanted. Six minutes more in the australia. Game the belgian game within ninety minutes. Because italy were just doing everything they could to waste time at the end of that match against belgium this then eliminates gives you consistently two minutes every game. Sanitize everything right. The skulduggery is partly what we love. The the obvious severe god that every single person that supports a team has one mellow with ten minutes to go up. -solutely loves.

I'm excited to be talking some e Sports specifically some fee for today. Yeah, definitely. Thanks for having me so off top favorite FIFA version go all FIFA version. There's so many I mean I've been playing fevers such a long time ever since the World Cup 1998. I would say be for 17 honestly for several reasons. I like the gameplay and I also like that fever because that's what everything sort of started right on so, I mean not not to say that the other FIFA's aren't as good. Let's be very clear about that. Right? Yeah for sure. There's several pieces that I really do like it was a tough decision. I mean it took a while to think of all the FIFA's I mean 16-15 was a really really good. The thing is though. I mean FIFA changes every single FIFA some people don't believe this but it really does change. Whole lot in terms of the gameplay mechanics what works what doesn't work the way the players move just so many little details that ultimately change the game. So, yeah, it's just it's just interesting people like certain FIFA's While others don't like some FIFA's well forgetting about fever first second, right? You actually were pursuing a career as a professional footballer write soccer player, You literally sustained an injury that stopped you from playing for not stopping employment is kind of stunted that that career path for you a little bit more and So you you're recovering your your home away from from actual soccer for a bit and you start picking up FIFA more and more and that leads you down this path towards becoming I mean what you are now, you're just awesome see from the optional Caster. Sound is debuting an eight episode poker series co hosted by liam payne former member of the boy band one direction and sports broadcaster. jd dire. The fee for play on podcast aims to bring together the best soccer players with world's greatest musicians on the podcast and initiative born out of a partnership with universal music group for bad for brands hosts and guests will discuss monumental moments in their lives and music that inspired them during those periods of time. So that's that's the sort of the blurb and that's what fee are up to. Why are they doing this. Do you think sophie. we'll give it. Let's start with the what's happening here. Okay so i think. I think that they're starting to present themselves more than just a football brand. I think it's quite hard for a governing body to make that move into brand they can be seen as a sort of dry organizations so they're tapping into that crossover between music culture fashion in the same way that many players do and build themselves into a bigger brand in the clubs. They play for. I think that fee. I seen this opportunity to get more emotional connection using those other levers and a great way to do that or a great touch point is audio because it's proven to have that emotional engagement quality you know so great rates connect with people so that got universal thing and the celebrity thing and bringing together sports people with musicians and talking about staff on a deeper level is bringing fee for motor life as a brand. That's how i do agree with that. I think it's an attempt to do that. Which i. I'm not sure it as with all of these. Things will depend on the execution as to whether they're able to achieve it but i think sophie hit the nail on the head in terms of trying to branch out into other verticals to create an entertainment crossover Format aligning sports with music This is an ambition. Law of clubs and sports brands share Whether they're able to put it in a way that's relevant to fans Were remains to be seen but Let's hope the it is this new and rather gonna do it or are they doing it now. Doing better elsewhere. I don't i don't think trying to get into the football. Conversation is anything new It's just very difficult for official bodies particularly governing bodies to get into office space which is quite tip quite defined by authentic conversations. Authentic voices and try to and try to place themselves. They're in a way that is meaningful. So i think i think many will attempt to execute correctly. I'm not sure i agree. I think that not many have yet a they are thinking about it and i think some of the big big rightsholders around the world will be. We'll be looking to do this. But we haven't really seen any body executed properly or well yet but i think this conversation's going on in the background. We've certainly seen some big clubs around the world investing in their audio branding strategy lately. So people are. I acts and i think there'll be more of that. But in terms of podcasting in the way that fee for doing it. I don't think anybody else's done here. What's the point of an official club. Pocus what's the positioning. Do you think that again. I mean jolly mentioned there that there are other voices and there are lots of fan based club podcasts around and there's also mainstream media radio. Bbc lots of of other noise walk role. Can a club play in this space. Yeah it's an excellent point and it predates podcast as an it's It's the fact that there's an ongoing conversation and then there's there's certain things that clubs kennecott say and no no more obvious. Was this at the time also fan. Tv had a really big moment. A couple of years ago around Wanting to their fans willing to sack sacrifice in anger and that was getting huge engagement on youtube. Whereas and i i'm the club the that digital media team would have quite like some of the audience that robey. So we're guessing but they could never have produced content like that and nor should they So it being the official voice you have to place your advantages. You have to play to your strengths. And that is usually access to things that your average punter. Your average commentate a dozen have access to Which usually of goes back to the players and or other people within the club. Who have something interesting to say But yeah you you tend to be constrained somewhat by your ability to speak freely if you're the official voice And i think one simple example where that that slightly doesn't doesn't play true and and the good thing is Nfl media has a suite of podcasts. That all to kind of talk about the league and some do it through the lens of statistics and analysis. Some do it through the lens of a more jerky. And and kind of light-hearted kind of tone of voice but they're all officially sanctioned podcast. That's promote the sports in the league and The hosts have free rein to Form of a better word. Slag off coaches play is say someone should be dropped or sack of whatever and and you would never see that coming from official bodies in europe and i think but it's it's It's a it's a very interesting approach. And i think one that's been well executed

"Biel. This is going to be in three. Paul's we're going talk about fifa we're going to talk about the sort of introduction of fief for sound and i'll explain what that is in a minute we're going to end with what can sports rights holders do today in this world inter's of audio because it's a very fast moving very fast changing exciting area and people will come into that with a whole lotta preconceptions. Nothing so it's just about podcasts fish. But it's about more than that is broader and deeper than that. So that's where we'll finish and we'll give us sort of guide to what you what to do next and in the middle. We're gonna go have a sort of run through some of the sort of trends that happening. Obviously we have to mention clubhouse which i am personally slightly obsessed with and sophie invites of in fact. You both invited me on so thank you very much. That was very kind of you. I don't think they invites a particularly at a premium at the moment. I think they're now being doled out like sweet sunday. I know it's just. It's just probably just celebrities. It's me and you know and Alone and few others. But let's let we'll get clubhouse eliminated but if people are rich there will be in every single room. Weren't you the person to all. The research is excruciating. Most of the content is excruciating. And it's just it's said the other day that it's a bit like if linked in Talk just full of people passionately talking about themselves and trying to sort of inspire me and i never. I never one to be inspired. Resist being inspired. But having said we wouldn't start with clubhouse have now start with crowbars. Let's do our faith because they made a big move in this. So i'm just going to live. Read off how they've presented the fee for sound dane. And i'm gonna ask you what's going on so today..

"You got gotta understand why this stuff was put into place. It was put into place to ensure that the poor would always be the ones volunteering in fighting. Most people don't think about it. Like that though. Most people. Most people have never even looked at the military insulted him sales. Wow. They set this up to make sure what people enlisted. Step back. Think about what I just said. In logically think about it. I mean, just think about it. Most people who go to the military join because they want to go to college or they feel like I can't get into college. And it's the only way I can get a career. And then the military get so gangsta with it. They donate money to colleges and universities. So that they can be set up on colleges universities to enlist in Why because they realized something. Then if a thousand kids come to college. Out of that thousand eight hundred I go have one or two issues. They don't have enough money to finish or they don't have the grace because they've been partying because they hold. They ain't home. No morning at mom and daddy watching them. And so it becomes the only way out. Only way out. I'm just telling you. See, we know think about it in that sense. But this goes all the way back to the founding fathers. You're not gonna have a central Bank. If you fight for FIFA, you'll be able to own your own land. If you fight for us. This is this is your fight you love this country..
