"Where your dentist or dental hygienist may spot them. Sometimes patients can have lesions and not know about it until we see it. Perhaps before you even know you have the illness. If you can get people isolated as quickly as possible, then they're going to be less likely to infect other people. Doctor Greg pole of Kentucky's buttermilk family and cosmetic dentistry told me his team hasn't seen a confirmed case of monkeypox yet, but it's not unusual to see lesions in the mouth that could be easily mistaken for another illness. They can mimic herpes that can mimic canker sores. You know, so then you're going to look at you're going to ask a patient the next question are you do you have a fever? Are you grab a backache and you have these kind of things going on? Do you feel sick? Doctor pol says what we don't know yet is why some people's lesions start in the mouth is that the point of entry through kissing or intimate contact or just the viral results. Is that the primary source of the viral content that hit them out, possibly? And it could just be that this person was unlucky enough that it started in a mouth. Main goal is just to refer anyone with suspicious lesions on any part of the body for testing, to try and contain this virus. I'm medical reported list bonus. Doctors already urge us not to use too much salt on food, a new study now links adding salt to already cooked food to earlier deaths. For ten years, researchers tracked a half million people in the UK and how much salt they added to their food, almost a decade later, researchers followed up with those participants. They found that the more salt people had added to their meals, the greater their chance of an early death. The American Heart Association recommends adults consume no more than 2300 milligrams of salt per day that is a

AJ Looks at the Cluster of Presidential Deaths on July 4th
"The close cluster of July 4th, as really weird. Especially given the prehistoric prehistoric, the historic importance of that day. The first adult Thomas Jefferson was 83 years old at the time. And he was bedridden for a month with a bunch of different physical bullshit ailments. He called a fever on July 3rd, died the next day. At his home in Monticello, Virginia. Meanwhile, since hundred miles away and Quincy Massachusetts, 90 year old John Adams was also on his deathbed. And he died soon after that. Entirely unaware of Jefferson's passing. Adams oblivious last words were reportedly, Thomas Jefferson still survives, and it was the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. That's some crazy stuff. It really is. And president John Quincy Adams stuck struck by his father and Thomas Jefferson dying, not just on the same day, but on such an historic occasion, he called the timing visible and palpable remarks of divine favor. Those are such wonderful words put in a row. Visible and palpable remarks of divine favor. I'm not even sure how he came up with that. That's beautiful. There was a Saturday back then, Daniel Webster, and he agreed. He agreed remarking in a eulogy a month after Adams and Jefferson's death, he said they were proof that our country and its benefactors are objects of God's care. And then I know this is like a history lesson, but it's really important. It's July. It's July 4th, these deaths are saying. 5 years after Jefferson and Adams passed away, James Monroe dies of tuberculosis at 73 years old. At his daughter's house in New York

A New Report in Georgia Shines a Light on Brad Raffensperger
"There's a startling article in gateway pundit that is talking about Georgia and talking about the Secretary of State Brad raffensperger. And they quote a guy from a group conservative group in Georgia that is called voter Georgia, voter GA. This is Garland fever rito. And he says with regard to Bragg, meaning raffensperger, I don't think anyone believes down here that he actually won. When I saw this, I was like, what does that mean? Well, raffensperger won his primary for Secretary of State. But surveys had shown that he was deeply unpopular in the state. So a lot of people in Georgia were like, wow, how is it that he won in one rather decisively and one even more than he was predicted to win before the primary itself. He was leading right before, but his margin was substantially even bigger. Well, this group called voter Georgia border GA has put out a report. Basically, alleging and I want to emphasize alleging that the Georgia voting system seems to have added 15% of votes to raffensperger's total. And so their voter Georgia is now filing, has has filed a challenge in all 159 counties and they are saying that these that the vote count, which is, by the way, dominion vote count for the Secretary of State is not accurate, and that he certified these unlawful results. So basically what voter Georgia wants to do is unseal the ballots so that you can count the ballots and match them up against the results that were given by the machines. I mean, this would seem to be something rather obvious and easy to do and I don't see why they haven't done it already. If anything to build confidence in the results. But this is what the article alleges and it's coming from voter Georgia that raffensperger received about 53% of the Republican day votes. While the dominion voting system awarded him 68.4% of those votes for Secretary of

"See what happens is when you're creating 3D models, right from scratch, not necessarily from what's called LIDAR, 'cause you can also take a LIDAR enabled camera or iPad or some of the newer phones already have it. And you can literally do a walk around video, keeping an object in the center, and it will automatically create a 3D model. So when I'm talking about mapping and texture mapping, I think that applies more to like this, this is another floor plan, 3D model four plant that I was able to generate with this software. Now sometimes when you're wanting to host your 3D models so that it makes them easier to share with the world or maybe you want to do what I'm doing and use it to help promote some local businesses or business businesses anywhere. Quick example of what I'm talking about promoting businesses the same. For example, there is a flooring company and they have a showcase floor like this flooring here that you see. You can literally go to a company and if you have enough traffic walking through your model, you could literally put their logo or a hotspot and send them straight to either a shopping cart or to their company that showcasing their wood floor or their brick walls. There's just so much you can do when it comes to 3D modeling that makes it amazing and powerful. Now going back to mapping, sketchfab is one of the places that's like social media or is a social media for 3D artists. Sometimes when you export a 3D model and there's different file formats, you can export three models in, but sometimes the mapping is translated a little bit or expressed slightly differently once you host it in a place like sketchfab. And there could be various reasons for maybe you painted a wall green and when you hosted it, it's expressing it white or you maybe had a texture, a brick wall, and when you exported it to host in a place like sketchfab, your centerpiece brick wall is not being expressed in your angry and confused, wondering how come my brick walls I've been expressed. Well, it costs money to host textures and especially if these textures are large files, it takes bandwidth, and believe it or not, transparency textures are expensive to host. I just learned that. I don't know if that's applies straight across the board. But as far as sketch Travis concerned, they're the ones that taught me that. And when I learned that, that allowed me to start building my models more simple or less texture because I was just going crazy with all the texture options that were available with the software. Because there's so many awesome features on it. And I was doing it too much. I was getting carried away. And sketchfab was saying, okay, easy buddy. I'm not going to. Your kitchen wall does not need to be marble and the wall next to it does not need to be a brick face, whatever. It's just ridiculous. Sometimes less is more, and that's lesson that I was taught from sketchfab and I feel like it's starting to make me a better artist because of it. I'm starting to call myself an artist. I don't know if that's making my wife happier encouraged. She seems more money. I think she's smiling, starting to smile more. But yes, this is amazing stuff. And especially if you're already in that mindset and already have that knowledge and the aptitude for being a real artist, this software can really help you express your ideas and such an amazing way. Now, what does that have to do with flying an aviation besides the fact that almost every single one of my floor plans has some type of airfield or a runway or something next to it? Well, there's more. Because where do I continue this story so it's clear? Okay, let me start here. What I do for a living, what really has been effective at putting food on the table before I started doing this, it was a solar panels. Because I truly do believe in free electricity from the sun. There's still mixed, I know there's two sides of the fence of that and then I understand that maybe some of the elements that compose a solar power home system could be considered overpriced, maybe. That's an argument for another time I'm not going to get into the pros and cons and what I think and what you should think about solar power. I'm just going to tell you what's happening and how cryptocurrency or blockchain technology because crypto is written on blockchain layers and I'm saying I know I'm being very lame when I'm saying this because I'm just learning this myself. So please cut me some slack if you are a crypto super nerd and I'm not trying to be derogatory by calling you that I'm actually saying that respectfully and because if you've been studying crypto and you saw the power of crypto long before most of us are barely realizing what's going on congratulations you are a smart person because it's amazing what blockchain technology is doing. So what caught my eye about it is the fact that in solar power, one of the benefits of putting solar panels on your roof is that if you're plugged into the right utility company, they will do what's called net metering and give you credits for the power that your solar panels produce and you don't use, right? So let's say remember those old school meters before the digital meters came out, they would spin right. So let's just look at let me use that example. So let's say your meter spins forward one full turn. So for every full turn that meter spins, that's a kilowatt hour. And that's what gets added onto your Bill. Well, when you add solar panels to your roof, they upgrade your meter and they'll put what's called net metering. So that literally will make that thing now spin backwards. So every time every full turn that that meter spins backwards, you get a credit. At nighttime when the sun goes down, the difference is that now you're running off of the credits, but at a fraction of the cost. But the beautiful thing is, not only when you have solar panels, when everything is working properly, are you using producing your own electricity.

"Of. Course this podcasts preferred pillow magnate in the maga universe in late july. Mike angrily announced to various media outlets that he was effectively pulling his mypillow ads from the fox news and fox business airwaves immediately in protest. Essentially of fox's decision to decline to run his ad leading up to his south cyber symposium which our listeners probably remember as a thing lyndale promise prove that massive fraud conspiracy ended up swinging the election from donald trump. To joe biden. Obviously the cyber symposium imploded in several different ways and was able to unearth zero evidence of the sort. I'm sure that's heartbreaking in shocking to our listeners. Anyway so i wanna follow up with mike. Because i haven't spoken to him in a while. And i just realized that there had been no follow up to the alleged breakdown of that relationship even at the time when he said it. It seemed to raise an eyebrow on my face that okay. I mean he saying he's killing the relationship right now but he really killing the relationship so yesterday on monday september thirteenth speaking to i asked him have you made any new overtures to fox news or fox business to try to get ads back on the air or is there been any outreach. The other way around and lo and behold he told us that in fact yes starting a week or two after. He made that announcement in late july he actually went back to fox to try to get a bad on the air for his attempt at a social media. Network called frank speech. Before i get into what these ads were. Frank speech is a dumped by the way getting owns compared to frank speech. The thing i kind of wanted to establish here is we. Get into this frank speech thing. So this is mike lindell's ostensible social network. I still can't figure out how to log onto this. Don't think but like do you have an account. Try to can't get in. What is frank speech. It's both a social network a dream because often it's just like a streaming video of mike lindell. So but here's the thing. I suspect fox news is looking at this. And they're like this looks low rent now. The man yelling about pillows that fit with our brand but frank speech is is a weird spam operation and they want nothing to do with it. I would imagine i. I'm just spitballing. Here okay so this is what lindow told. The fever drinks pod yesterday and i quote my pillow is done with them. My pillow is done. And he's referring to fox and fox business but what he's leaving the door open for at least for now is a week or two. According to him after he announced he was pulling my pillow from fox news airwaves. He said he went back to fox. With an ad for the frank speech social media site but within that ad he specifically told me that the ad says that you can get exclusive deals at my store and also mypillow in the ad content. So he's kind of doing this kind of work around where he says. Oh yeah. I'm refusing to grace the airways of fox news with my pillow content but i am trying to get an ad or two for frank speech on there which and within that ad includes basically a redirect to mypillow products. So i mean is it. A my pillow ad is anonymous bill add. I'll leave that up for our listeners. To gotta have pride. It's kind of like. He's sneaking it on their. Here's my theory right. It's crazy like we know that fox news was part of their ad. Revenue was pillows. Right if i'm like dan bongino. If i'm sean hannity if i'm one of these guys i'm getting my own pillow company and i'm spamming fox news with pillow ads. I think there's an opening here for someone who is willing to buy fox news ads. The audience love seeing pillows. You know just kind of sneak in there what. Why don't we try that fever pillow. I don't think we could do that to mike. He's bringing these exclusives to us. I would wanna stab him in the back like that. But i do think the pillow market i think is wide open. The thing is according to mike. V new ad that he tried to pitch them frank speech. They rejected it. I believe because they didn't want anything to do with something that had to do with the cyber symposium or alleged massive election fraud yada yada yada so he goes again a little bit after that to try to get third on the air which he said. He took out any references to the election. Or yada yada just frank speech in my store in my pillow so fox news comes back to him on. He claims monday. September thirteen and simply say they did not like the content of frank speech. And that's the reason why they're refusing to put his ads on the air right now. So he's kind of in this weird space where he's denouncing fox news as this leviathan. The isn't pro-trump enough for him. And his not brave enough to talk about vaccines of twenty twenty election. The way that he is but yet he is still beseeching them to try to get his ads on air even though he made this big stink about no longer advertising my pillow with the may and he tells us that he is currently in the process of trying to create a fourth ad that he hopes his fox news and fox business friendly to try to test them to see if they'll rekindle this ad revenue marriage once again. I like this thing where it's like. Mike is in the lab cooking up these ads. Or he's like maybe this will get past the censors at fox news. And he's just telling you he's like. Hey here's my plan to fool fox news. I mean you can't do it like that. Well we'll see what we'll have to see if he pulls it off. Fever dreams like all daily.

Cnn's reliable sources with. Brian stelter to briefly talk about this very subject of mistaken identity. How much of it is actually an issue or an inconvenience in your life. Oh i mean it's still a pretty constant flow of tweets coming across my mentions at this point. It's become a little bit confusing for me because there are some people who are in on the joke and our tweeting at me while pretending they're tweeting at matt gaetz that includes me. Of course that includes you and sometimes those people end up fighting with other people who aren't in on the joke don't realize that the other person is in on the joke and so they're trying to correct someone who is trying to do a joke it's it's fairly baffling but yes. There is still a fairly frequent for me to get tweets that are intended for someone else and that call me a pedophile. Which is not ideal. He tried to play along with the joke and i just completely ignored him because i think that he's a fairly reprehensible person than i don't want way where did he like start. Dm new or something like no no no he was quote. Tweeting me jokingly about the situation and i just ignored him completely. I don't really want to have like a fun story about me. And the congressmen and our strange twitter hijinks We're firmly laughing at him. Not with him yes. I think that's correct what you should really start. Deeming him and emailing him about this because one day those documents could end up in court record of some sort maybe one day. I don't think so. The thing that i always thought about but decided would probably not be a good idea would be start damning. Like don jr. pretending to be the congressman and seeing how long. I could sort of play that out before he realized it. He seems pretty dumb. I think it would work. But perhaps a idea twitter is censor you by slightly changing the spelling of your last name. We need help to fix it both. Speaking of poor ideas you have been tracking this ongoing very sad. Very depraved trend of anti vaccine anti mask. Conservative radio hosts in different places across the united states and also local leaders who are also waiting anti vaccine anti mask wars of their own in different parts of the country. There's been an ongoing trend in a surge recently of a number of these guys. I'm not talking like one or two. It's becoming way more conspicuous trend than that gang hospitalized and in many cases succumbing to in dying from covert nineteen after many weeks or months of telling their audience or their fan base. That the vaccines are dangerous. And you shouldn't take them and that anybody who wants to put a mask on your your children during this pandemic is a nazi blah blah blah. All usual complete anti science horse ship and yet there continues to be this parade of just maddening. Local news stories were they or their families are talking to local media about how actually this guy ended up catching covert nineteen and he's now dying or dead. There was this one of one of many horror stories. Have come out in. Recent days was printed on august twenty eighth by the daytona beach news journal with the headline after three week cove in nineteen battle daytona beach talk. Radio hosts marc bernier dies. And what do you know. This guy was one of the ones who is going on the airwaves. Telling bunch of his listeners do not get vaccinated. Yeah i mean. I've lost track of the number of low level republicans celebrities and conservative media figures who have been hospitalized or died during the pandemic in recent weeks. The one that really struck me. I think was philvalentine. News conservative talk radio host at tennessee. He expressed skepticism about the vaccines he when he contracted the virus dole does listeners. That a doctor had gotten him of prescription for din which is an anti anti-parasite drug that's become very popular in a certain section of the right wing as a potential kovic No it doesn't appear to actually work. And once he stricken. When he was hospitalized his brother came to look. he's regretful. He wasn't a vocal advocate of vaccination for those listen. I know he were able to tell you. This would tell you. Go get backs needed. Quit worrying about the politics could worrying about all the conspiracy theories and then he died of coveted nineteen last month. There are so many stories like this. I will say it's notable that they're almost all local the national out media figures i assume they're all vaccinated quietly vaccinated. They will not come out and they will not publicly say we took the shot and you should definitely take this shot you at home. Who trusts me. Who is listening to this show. You should get vaccinated. They won't do it. It's just so disgusting. The way they have they're not good. People is what i'm saying. You'd think that in a sane world. Herman cain steph. What a year ago now would have underscored to some folks in that world that this is a serious disease. Obviously he died before a vaccine was readily available but rather than support the measures that were available time masking distancing herman cain twitter. I think turned around and continued on cova skepticism. So there's been no recompense for right wing figures blessing vaccines blasting covet measures. And now we're kind of seeing that leap the natural it's natural end here with these local folks who actually do believe what's being doled out at the top yet. I mean herman canes grid example another one is a bill montgomery who was one of the founders of turning points usa. With charlie kirk at who also died of of nineteen last july. And that has not kept charlie kirk from pushing every corona virus vaccine fantasy under the sun. There's just no recognition of anything resembling a responsibility to their own supporters to their own.

"On the problem of your question. So what did you hear in that exchange. Kelly because what i heard was someone asking. When are you going to bring people back to washington. Dc potentially to do something similar to what they did on january six to continue fighting for the absolute lie that donald trump actually won the twenty twenty presidential election and this congressman saying. Oh yeah we're working on it as opposed to doing what any person even in his far-right situation should do which is say we have to act peacefully and the way to win is to vote blah blah blah. There are so many efforts right now to hold renewed rallies in support of or in echoes of the january six riot that includes this coming month. Are tomorrow when this episode broadcast. It will be this month an effort to hold a d. c. rally around where the initial january six rally was in support of january six defendants. This is not some distant event that they are trying to bury move on from to save face. They're glorifying it. They're trying to revive it and to make it a recurring event. It's an installation in a series of these attacks in you can even see that in the opposite direction in the lead up to january six riot there were multiple dc protests so to speak. Stop the steel rallies. Things attended by proud boys. Things got really really rowdy. These events are sequential. They build on each other until there is something that gets them a little bit of bad publicity. They have to say oh. We don't condone exactly that. Then they go and they try and free. The people who are facing charges for the glorify them and the cycle renews again right and obviously people like madison cawthorn if they got cold on video like emerging obviously one of the first things they'd say oh we're calling for a peaceful rally or quote unquote another peaceful rally. Don't be hysterical about it. It's like fuck off dude. We what you're talking about. We know what you're glorifying and it's not someone willing to give up there seat at a counter of a diner right. They every time they call for these quote unquote peaceful rallies. They get twenty people who are like our friend that we just discussed in pennsylvania. Who's talking about bringing people to forcibly enact change in the legislature. So they know their audience. They know their audience wants to do so. Swin for the first time in twenty years. We're out of afghanistan and there are already the rumblings from the far right of wanting to jump right back in. What is trump saying about the end of the occupation while is not just. Trump is not just the far-right but again a recurring theme on this podcast. Is that what you would think could be extreme or a little bit extreme. The more and more we talk about the more and more. It's just mainstream conservative movement and republican party position. Now i want to issue all the usual caveats and this applies every time we talk about. What's going on in afghanistan the quote unquote war has been ended by president joe biden but he is explicitly said and has exercise the right to do so at least a couple of times in recent days. Joe biden has gone out. There and repeatedly said explicitly signaled that i joe biden and future presence of the united states reserve the right to attack and bombard and drone strike afghanistan. Basically whatever the hell. I feel like it whenever i want to or claim it's in america's national security interests. So it's funny to me when we talk about this pull out this withdrawal and the war ending where i mean. I don't see how you could say. With any objective metric that the us involvement and war in afghanistan has truly come to an end if the leader of the free world continues to reserve the right to attack in bomb whenever he damn well pleases. That's right any on her way out. We effectively bombed a family of ten under the guise of attack isis. So that sort is kind of still dangling there yes vedran strike you're talking about is just one. Data point of many many many data points over the years about how so much of the cost has been off shored onto in terms of of afghanistan. The afghan people afghan civilians and completely off of the united states. And we're the human cost of the war has completely off shored onto the afghan people afghans billions and to a point where the american media zooming public does not have to worry about it all that much much to their shame but anyway getting that out of the way the quote unquote war has ended the ground troops are out and the withdrawal has concluded as of august thirty first afghanstan. That's obviously not nothing. And with that removal of american ground troops there are abundant calls in recent days from prominent republicans asking. Okay when are we gonna reinvade the country again. When are we gonna take bog from. When are we gonna fled the country again with combat troops. When are we going to get the bloodstained revenge that we think we desperately deserved as americans. You have your lindsey. Graham saying this kevin mccarthy benz center marsha blackburn mitch mcconnell dan crenshaw hr mcmaster trump ally and ex new york city police. Commissioner bernie kerik said recently that trump would quote carpet bomb. The fuck out of afghanistan. Right now you have. Chronic asshole and conservative commentator toddstarnes advocating for mass murderer destruction of afghan civilian populations and wiping entire cities off the map in the south asian country. So the blood loss is going very strong in recent days especially after that horrific attack at kabul airport that left thirteen americans dead and numerous afghans killed as well but as the days have gone on since last week's attack trump himself not just his compatriots in the party but trump himself has done more and more into this idea of reinvading afghanistan at the same time while he's talking about oh i wanted to withdrawal the whole time. It's a parallel track of cognitive dissidents. That he just won't let die. Yeah i mean. Trump's statement is internally contradictory right. He's saying that if we do not get every penny of the eighty five billion that we spent on the afghan army back which is sunk cost folks. We know that when we have are just staggering military budget. That were offloading that or if we do. Funnel backs usually through Defense contractors in northern virginia. But he's saying that if we don't all of that back we should be able to quote at least bomb the hell out of it. It being afghanistan then he says nobody ever thought such stupidity as feeble brain. Withdrawal was possible. This is the same former president who was recently taking credit for the withdrawal. So.

"It's just like how he's gonna be the challenge for me. It was that. So much of the the sort of like more in sorrow than anger stuff about the tragedy of afghanistan in our withdrawal or whatever was written by the very same people that i remember as like barely sentient twenty two year. Old problem drinker when all this stuff was happening. The first round like it's the same fucking guys. Pardon my language. But it's like david fromm again like mark tyson again like they never left and just have to dig. It out of drafts like they can do that way. Quicker than can generate thoughts and some of these people is not an exaggeration to say that. This is all your fucking fault or at least the people you were directly serving and working for at the time. This is your fault this is on you and now you want to blame on. Oh critical race theory. The woke generals right are classic problem. These four star generals like robin de ngelo training after robin de ngelo training. All day long think about troop movements guys but the in this case with the the way that like that sort of tenor. The idea of like obviously. This was a disgrace. I mean it's a historic crime to do for twenty years. What we were doing in afghanistan the idea that the people that as you said orchestrated it and sold it can then be there at the end of it without any insight or remorse and still be permitted the platform to kind of like not just like argue for its ongoing sort of like prosecution which is like there's a little bit of that but then there's also more of this like obviously it didn't work of course none of us knows why that happened or how it could possibly have been permitted not to work but it's tragic and i join you in thinking that it was bad sincerely like man who invented the phrase that was used to sell the war that happened and i don't know like there's something really like derailing arranging is the term i used for that i guess it's just like knowing that this happened without any repercussion knowing that these guys are still permitted to do that function in polite society and also just in general are accorded the status experts strictly. Because they're the people that invented the fuck up in question is really like it's a lot such as sort of like walk around with that knowledge and like think about politics or think about your reminded of who is making these decisions and how abstracted and sort of on interested. They are in the consequences of them. I feel like there are two currents of this right. There is the hand wringing. How could this have happened. And then there are the people who are already onto step two of this which is yes. It's all very sad that this collapsed. Now we cannot let any refugees into the country. And i feel like those two sides are just encroaching little ven diagram upon each other. Yeah absolutely and i think that's also weird to see that because like those will appear in the same statement..

"Boss. I got an idea. Said fuck joe. It's like the person who came up with. This probably fancied themselves as smart as the americans who came up with the iran contra scandal. It's like i got it. You see this a lot in information operations stuff is we like to think of. This is spooky intelligence world in all sorts of scary but at the end of the day like a lot of life is basically like a version of the office and it just show happens. This version of the offices involved in like information operations of normal bureaucratic politics supply which is like. Listen somewhere someone at these. Sputnik office was like listen. There's too many people getting vaccines are good. And so we need to do some sort of dirty work and dirty up these vaccines and once that happens. I mean you got money you gotta budget. You've got a contract gotta show some what kind of work you gotta show that you've done something and this is something of the idea that this is like a russian agent. Filing his story like forty five minutes after that line like yeah. Yeah boss totally. It's it's chimpanzees got how many thousands of roubles to do this contract. We need to put out something to show work. Let's do it chimpanzees to cook things number one for any of our listeners. Who are in fact. Floridians i just want call back during earlier in the episode adam was just kidding we love you. Take a joke. And secondly you've been sort of scraping at this while during the segment but you're analysis of this is showing that for as bottomed out as we are in terms of millions upon millions of americans buying dangerous conspiracy theories. This one does not have that many takers. Basically in facebook's report they were highlighting the fact bit even in india people were making fun of them in the comment section like when they tried and they got to the extent that got engagement it was negative engagement and like indian facebook users. Like okay dr google. We're going to turn into chimpanzees. No thank you. So facebook commissioned an internal report on this network so yeah facebook does monthly coordinated in authentic behavior reports which is basically a post twenty sixteen development after all the russian hijinks during the election. Once a month. Facebook will dump what they know about usually state-driven massively coordinated authentic behavior which is essentially people using sock puppets to drive a particular narratives. And so this one came out and they were able to attribute all this stuff to this russian company in part because this russian company is just not very good at hiding the track got it okay. Myself may johnson and johnson man. Does that mean. I'm going to turn into cow. Instead of a chimpanzee. I i guess i would have to think of what johnson and johnson spirit animal is. I don't know what you're poke amount of aleutian and whether this is like poison type vaccine or award or rexine but look going. Nukes over the past earth ham has emerged as one of the most interesting dogged reporters covering the trajectory of the moderate republican party as entered its latest accelerated phase of antidemocracy. His series of reports on the party's war against expanded voting rights particularly at the state and local levels is essential reading to those looking to understand how the party is now operating behind the seats oftentimes in concert with donald trump himself. You can follow him for his scoops and blistering insights at cam underscored joseph on twitter dot com camp. Welcome to fever dreams. Thanks for having me. So you've been doing great reporting on the power struggle within the gop. specifically how from keeps fucking mitch mcconnell. Can you tell us a little bit about how that dynamic is playing out. And what that means for a kind of Conservative politician like mitch. Mcconnell who wants a functioning majority in the senate. Yeah that's the big question of the day right. We saw mitch. Mcconnell basically give up basically said that he's had it with trump during the last couple of months of the host period while publicly also saying that if he were the nominee in two thousand twenty four he would absolutely support him mitch. Mcconnell is kind of walking a tightrope. Where i mean when he cares about is mitch mcconnell and senator he and he wants himself and his conference as empowered as possible and so long as trump was doing stuff that was making that easier and working within the do things they wanted to do with it. Cutting taxes awesome supreme court justices. That's all he cares about. Once he started getting into these anti democratic areas. They started getting a little queasy and mcconnell was totally fine with trump challenging in the courts in alleging all of these crazy things as long as when the end of the day came around and the courts to settle things. Trump was gonna move on. And there's that famous background what's the harmon humoring him. That came from mcconnell. End that i think we saw very clearly what the harm was on january sixth and mcconnell is livid and he was already angry at trump for the weeks leading up to it. People forget as the senate in capital started getting storm mcconnell just wrapped up a speech where he just laid into trump and then basically said this is the most important ever cast was confirming. Joe biden's election victory and then Basically just got furious. Mcconnell got angrier angrier. Mcconnell trump haven't talked since mid-december and then mcconnell really trump have it during impeachment with with really this rating speech but then at the same time voted against banning trump from running for office again voted against impeaching trump. His argument was that you can't impeach guys is already out of office and so mcconnell and the situation where you can't piss off the gop base too much but he clearly wants to move on from president trump and he basically hasn't mentioned trump's name since the impeachment vote even as he's done a couple of things to help trump killing the bipartisan investigation. Into what happened on january sex and trump really doesn't seem that interested in moving We saw a statement. That came out. Hoarding tuesday at trump. Just pop right before. The senate passed this infrastructure. Bill and what trump had to say quietly said for years. Mitch mcconnell's most overrated man in politics. I don't have to be quiet anymore and went on to say. He's working so hard to biting victory. That's one of the latest shots across the bow. That mcconnell has taken out with kind of a stiff offer a limp because madonna can't just go on blasting trump because a lot of the gop based still loves trump and donald trump. How many women did he credibly sexually assaulted and harassed over the years. I came forward during the two thousand sixteen campaign. Republicans kinda broken ran for a couple of weeks and then all came together and fell back under trump to try and him push through election day and he wanted sixteen right. And that's kind of been water. Under the bridge for years we've seen plenty of republicans have had pretty bad sex scandals and actually. Interestingly one of the few breaks that we really saw between trump and mcconnell during the trump years was when mcconnell finally had it. After roy moore had been credibly accused of sexually assaulting minor and trump ended up standing by him and trying to get roy moore elected in alabama and fell. Just short of having a senator roy moore there and so there have been these moments. Where mcconnell says okay. This is enough. And trump never has enough and the difference between trump and mcconnell's panels willing to play as hard and dirty and aggressive as he can on the field play while trump wants to move the goalposts mcconnell. I think genuinely believes that there is a line that you need to draw in the sand where by democracy is no longer democracy needs to be defended at some base level even if he wants to set up the rules for democracy to make an end horrid -tarian.

"So recording this on august third is being of argus a month where a bunch of pro-trump partisans and conspiracy theories have been claiming for months. We'll be or could very well be that. Trump is directly restored to the presidency and biden is thrown out his ass right. Now we're welcoming on the podcast. Our colleague daily beast reporter kelly who just popped the story about how these conspiracy theories are getting zanier just at the moment where it looks like. They're going to implode themselves because donald trump is not going to be back in office this month. Kelly welcome back to the show. Thanks for having me. Can you tell us a little bit more about your reporting for a story headlined my pillow guy punts kind line for trump retaking power as august conspiracy theories get wackier who's conspiracy theories are getting wackier where they coming from. And what are they sure thing so even before by was inaugurated there were all these cunanan conspiracy theories saying this is the date. That trump will be reinstalled. These are the dates that the election will be overturned and they come out with a new one of these every couple months or so. They had to back to back ones that failed in march. They needed to have another date. They pushed to august. You know just a little breathing room. What was the reason that they stated or reasons that march ended up not worth. I'd trump just need more time to like redecorate mar-a-lago bedminster so these people aren't really focused on the reason for the failure. They're looking ahead. They glass half full. They're pivoting no they. The reason for their march predictions were that thought that there was an alternate inauguration day that was pegged to old laws before the phony government took over by vet clearly. Didn't pan out so they're not dwelling on it. The august state came about it was actually a lot of it was via our friend. Mike lindell the my pillow guy. Coup predicted august. Because he said that he wanted to get some lawsuits in front of the supreme court. He thought that would be rolling in july. And then by august they would have gone to their natural conclusion. And trump will be reinstated. So mike lindell. Who is a staunch trump ally and friend and also the joe and creator of my pillow or recurring character on the show and in our national consciousness yes and in our national consciousness. Of course he is one of the biggest drivers if not the biggest driver behind august august august. Can you tell our listeners. How much has been hedging on this for the past few months and he told the daily beast yesterday share so mike lindell has been promoting. August is like the probable probable timeline right. He's almost certainly the one who got it in trump's ear indirectly first and got to believe it right. Yeah and then in turn now. There's reporting that you and we'll have done that. Trump is going around telling folks that he thinks august is going to be the month for him so straight from the my pillow man to the shadow presidency. Mar-a-lago you've got this weird conspiracy theory that you want to dismiss but unfortunately people with power millions of fans are they follow it. So that's how the my pillow guy got. It started and recently. He has been hugging a lot of the august. Theory to this. cyber symposium. he's holding. That's going to reveal the true fraud behind the election. Bear in mind flees. he is already made. Three full length documentaries that about the election that have all been debunked. So i wouldn't hold your breath. I gotta talk about the cyber symposium. I mean this is for me the event of the year. Obviously there's a lot of talk about woodstock ninety nine if you like. This is kind of shaping up to be a similar event it is in what sioux falls south dakota this is gonna be mike lindell's inviting everybody. I mean it sounds like a like it's going to be a real crazy time. He's a friend of the pods. Actress over at salon says that according to the king of restful sleep will feature a mock election every two hours in which a hacker quote flips the votes on qualley quote. Cyber guy and quote goes into a soundproof room with headphones on and reappears moments later to decipher the meaning of packet capture. Now if that means anything to you you're not because it doesn't mean it's it's just craziness and it's gonna be mike lindell's inviting like every reporter. He talks to. It's going to be a great party. I think in possibly the end of american democracy. Kelly what do you think of the cyber symposium. oh man. it's so funny. A while ago. I wrote his mad at her possibly trying to cover a burning man in the cova era. And i'm not doing that. But i i think this is better right. This is like this is fire fast. No that sounds just absolutely insane. It started these prophetic events. That have been really churning this queue adjacent movement along when they've got very little to To go by their profit is gone and so they're just going out for successive woodstock events in big conferences. Were every couple hours. Somebody big has a website and calls for a myanmar style coup. Apparently mike lindell has bought out is supposedly every hotel room sioux fall so for this weekend sioux falls will be a my pillow company town. I mean it is going to be everywhere. I can't imagine. I think it is going to be like heightened levels of american delirium. I dunno sturgis for the election. fraud set. Maybe that's redundant and so. I think it's going to be a great experience on sad to visit. But i truly believe it will be some of the craziest news. We've seen this year. It sounds insane and it sounds worse than the to flatter conferences attended. Well that would certainly be something kelly. Additionally the ron watkins famously. The young man pegged as being q. The cuban cuban on. He's in this kind of stuff and he's getting in with lyndale. What's going on there. Oh yeah so ron. Watkins may or may not be cuba. He has been posting a lot of conspiracy theories contingent on mike. Lindell's cyber symposium saying look at all these things that are going to align in mid august we got the cyber symposium which is over multiple days. Saying something aligns with it. Let's let's take that with a grain of salt but also saying that there is an emergency broadcast system test on that day. And if you remember back in. I think two thousand eighteen will you wrote about. There is emergency broadcast system testing. Everyone thought thick trump was going to go on and announce the arrest of hillary clinton or whatever lo and behold didn't happen. But those two things are aligning again. And then just yesterday ron. Watkins was uploading what he said. Were on barnstorm new whistleblower. Papers from someone inside dominion immediately noted that those papers are publicly available online and it looks like somebody just printed them out and scan the back to telegram so ron is using his very few connected following. And just linking it right back up with dell. He'll i think you're underplaying your house serious. Ron made these leaks out. He said he literally gave the admiral akbar thing from where he's like. A lot of people died to get information you know and then it is as you said i mean it is just like you can go on the california secretaries as website and find these election machine manuals and he's just like like people really risk their lives to get this stuff out. There are whistle blower risked his life. He risked his family. And i'm like damn like. I don't even know if it has. Hp t. t. s. secure code the url. He got a raise.

"A lot of potential deception going on here. I'm not a legal expert per se but is this guy maybe opening himself up to a bunch of fraud litigation question. We'll certainly the way this has been pitched and especially by the endorsers free info with a little cagey wisely so about the exact claims they made but i think a lot of the endorsers were just like this. Is the best phone history. This guy like handmade this phone or he invented all these parts himself. And obviously that's not the case. I mean this was interesting character. This eric feminine. I think he's an interesting addition to sort of our maga- menagerie of personalities. It would seem to me that he would have more respect or at least come office having more respect for his audience and his customers if he just repackaged burner phones because at least in that world you can kind of see oh oh the better call saul guy uses them and that must mean. They're secure from the feds. There is nothing to suggest that this would make you any safer from a hacker or the federal government trying to snoop on your anything but you gave them like a cricket flip phone that you could just snap in half once you're done chatting with your drug dealer. Whoever that would seem to me like a more honest play here. I mean that's exactly right as someone quipped the only freedom you'll get from the freedom phones in new lightness in your wallet. So in the past few days some of our listeners have heard that teepee usa be very trumpy. Allegedly college and high school focused conservative organization has been holding a multiday conference speakers have included all the kind of extremely online maga luminaries that you might expect would show up at a party or event hosted by a guy like charlie kirk but there was also this row over the self-described conservative porn actress. Who also writes for the federalist who showed up expecting to get the vip treatment any stead. It created this sort of weird micro controversy at the conference will. What did you think of the affair. The brand new. This is a whole saga. That is still reverberating. Today as we speak in the conference goes on so this is a as you said a conservative porn actress. I think it's to call a porn star. I think so. She shows up and she has. I believe a vip pass. This is going to sort of project conflict between the kind of your south park. Republicans perhaps your barstool. Republicans might be called now kid rock conservatives as she identifies exactly and you're the people who think all the point stars should be pro-trump libertarian. Right exactly exactly. And then more like the people particularly younger weirdos. We talked last week about nick. Wednesday's crashing cpac. Your gropers said the people who all of a sudden are extremely into the latin mass in the catholic church. And so there's kind of a were we're about family values and all this kind of stuff but then at the same time it's like there's this conflict here i mean i i think about don jr. in kimberley guilfoil talking about how she likes to dress up in a cheerleader outfit for him or whatever i mean this this toll at the heart of the republican party so brand love shows up and then like some of these groper adjacent people see her on twitter and they say. What's this porn actress doing here at. And i gotta say again. I mean it is a little odd because this is also a high school conference and there are not not just tons of adults here who scenically have no reason to be there. So yeah so she's there and this sets off like a big drama and so you know she's taunting these gripers. She's saying i'm a kid. Rock conservative and these are quote anti adult haters. Now i don't know she means anti adult in the industry or like anti adult in that these are children who are like. Why are all these adults trying to get clout off of at best a conference okay. Her stage name is brandy love and she specializes in things like the hot teacher. Or what is colloquially known as Porn so she was invited gripe like she did show up with vip pass before she shared an email showing the staff to teepee usa. Conference had unceremoniously booted her. Some may lead describe at canceling hurt from the vent. That's correct right. Like it's not much crashed. The event raving. She was supposed to be she. Didn't just like wander in the front door right. This is someone who writes for the federalist which is one of the trump ius online news outlets out there right now. She has been very explicit about her support for former president. donald trump. and it's not like she came to do porn in front of the children. She was just there in a capacity. Is someone with all of her clothes. On to sort of bask in the glow of how great trumpism in the modern republican party is. I mean these sort of pearl clutching objections to. Oh how could you have her there. My god when their children president. It's not like she was trying to turn it into a point conference for the well. And then that's when you have an ally in federalist publisher ben dominic khoo tweeded. Oh dear. God tweeted brand alone. I thought we were the conservative batboys. Whatever so yeah. So she gets the boot after a couple of hours of pressure from both the gropers. And and i have to say it seems like the teens or at least the college students i mean this is like an ongoing fight. Would the gropers not kicked out of the tps cynically they are and in fact i believe one of the are there speakers or maybe someone who who is set to appear at this week. Got the boot from that event after he was at cpac with went as. But you know there's all these groper affiliate i mean. This is a lot of these. Young people are like incredibly far right in sort of as a joke that is basically like a place to party and to be fair. There were other highly visible maga personalities and people in conservative politics legal world for example. A former trump attorney. General was tweeting about this. She herself as a staunch social conservative as well as trump conservative and talking about how. Oh if someone like brandy loved can be welcomed at teepee. Usa conference of vip. Then what does conservatism. Even mean amy more so the war other individuals kind of like getting in on it trying to make it a bigger controversy than a lot of people thought. It should have been but the fact that the tape. Usa people kind of caved and just gave her. The boot actually was a little bit surprising to be because these conferences no matter. How much like a wink or not. They give to things. Like modern day social conservatism are meant to just be a party for high school and college students. They tried to brand themselves as oh unlike the feet to politically correct lib college kids we are the actual fun ones. We are the ones who are better at meaning. We were the ones who are actually gonna throw a much better friday or party because we don't care about all of that liberal puritanism having someone like brandy love their fits within that. Well it's funny. You mention memes. Because today benny johnson. The lord himself gave his speech about how good the rights memes are and that's his only his fortnight dancing. It's genuinely horrible failure. He does like he's like. I mean for the future of america's children and stuff like that like benny gets up there and then he starts taking questions from the audience and then a bunch of the questions are about porn and specifically at the whole brandy love controversy and so this one young woman gets up and she's like how do we deal. She has all these.

"And now we bring our listeners to one of our most beloved segments on the show. When we'd like to call fresh hells will do your fresh health. I m hokey you with a pitchfork. Okay maybe we'll cut that out jesse just like will you. We've been tracking for weeks now. The audit fever or quote unquote audit. What whatever the hell we wanna call. These alleged recounts have been sweeping across different parts of still very trumpy america and obviously people have seen on the news. That ridiculous versions of this have occurred in places like arizona and swing states were trump is or still trying to overturn the twenty thousand presidential election. Which just will not be overturned. It's just not gonna happen but this stuff is actually happening in areas in states. That trump won in twenty twenty. Which kind of gets to the further master batori element of. Can you tell the listeners. A little bit more about that. That's right look so as arizona. For the wrap up the arizona audit but i saw him packing up the boxes goodbye to the ballots. Whatever but audit mania is far from over and so the first thing is where the more predictable thing. That's going on now. We're seeing top republican. Legislators in battleground states like pennsylvania or wisconsin. Getting pressured by these kind of right wing characters. Were now saying like oh you know it's too bad. We can't do it in wisconsin. Because you know this guy won't let us so they're really putting the heat on there but for me. I think what's interesting really. is that now. This audit mania. That's growing in red states. That really solidly win for trump. And i wrote about this a couple of weeks ago and this was kicking off and places like north carolina or oklahoma but now this is really getting some action behind for example. We have windy. Rogers who's a state. Senator in arizona is saying the red states need to do their audits to and i think what's intriguing here. Is this idea that especially in a state with. It's really really read. You kinda can do whatever you want with the audits really. I mean we you arizona audit. They ended up sort of being able to do whatever they wanted but really would not have much opposition in any way from because they just have no power. And so you could end up with a situation where people can bring in someone like inventor giovane pulitzer to do his sort of hunter folds in the ballots. And you could have all the bamboo hunting. You want really unrestricted. And so yeah. I mean i think there's a movement that i think we should expect to see a lot more. So in these red state audits. What is the point to try to prove that trump won those states by allegedly millions of votes more than he already wanted. Yeah i think that's right. I mean. I've started to see some evidence of it. It's a little different. But i started to see some evidence of this. People are analyzing now the ballots in illinois. And they're saying obviously solidly blue state. They're saying biden should have only one this by five points or something and so sort of you do this in the red states and say you know this should have been way more of a blow out. There shouldn't have been high single. Digits win the challenge for republicans. Right is that you don't want to. I think the reasons a lot of state officials have been reluctant to do. This is that you don't really want to cast questions about the integrity of the election. That for example you elected right or that. You oversaw right. It's a rerun of what happened in georgia during the senate run all right exactly so so. The state officials are actually in charge of the elections. They may say vas off but then you have a lot of state. Lawmakers perhaps or activists who are going to say who really don't have much skin in the game in the same way and so now we're sort of seeing this play out in texas. Where the governor's race is shaping up and alan west of the four or just recently resigned as the texas chair of the texas republican party palled around with some people recently. And he's running and the lieutenant governor. Dan patrick is potentially shaping up to run and now none other than sydney powell. Maga- lawyer has come out and backed him back down west because basically she's saying dan. Patrick hasn't done enough to do an audit for our listeners. Who followed allen west career arc over the past decade or so. This makes absolute sense. There is nothing else that allen west would be doing right now especially you traced his rise to tea. Party right wing stardom during the obama era too. Now there's literally nothing else. Allen west would be doing right and allen was whole deal right is his whole career is premised on really giving into it of the republican party. Whatever moment that is. And so you have him pitted against dan. Patrick is himself like not exactly a moderate. Basically sydney powell is mad. Because she's like. I gave dan patrick all my proof of election malfeasance. And he didn't do anything with it left unsaid. Maybe matter think she's a crackpot and it's like oh yeah sydney. Just feed it straight into the shredder. Thanks a bunch buddy. So she's mad about that and she's like only allen west will sort of secure the integrity of texas election. So there's a lot of this feels and sounds irreparably stupid and it is. But i don't know why i didn't see any of this cunning especially happening in red states red counties which i absolutely should have because trump did this for a long time following the two thousand sixteen election which he want. He kept going on fox news and telling anyone who would listen that there was massive fraud in the two thousand sixteen elections and actually i may have even won the popular vote and i won the election by millions more than i already. He already won that fucking election. He was already in the white house in the oval office when he was doing that. So now obviously this was going to happen. Obviously there was actually going to be amount of right wing political power around this country coalescing around the idea that actually he should won these red states by the hundreds of thousands or millions more votes than he. Actually it makes perfect sense. I don't know why even bothered raising eyebrows today. Any of this right. I mean the idea now is obviously everyone wants a piece of the voter fraud action. And i feel like there's a lot of sort of a more like picky you way. I think there's a lot of these kind of like amateur voter fraud hunters in these states. Who were like oh man. Why don't i live in a battleground state. I've got some crackpot theories stu i mean these people. Their ideas are just literally crazy. I just seeing that video just like none of the theories are the same and everyone's got their own pet theories. So i think this really will let a thousand kooks.

"What is going on there. So the oath keepers are one of a couple of groups. The only other is the proud boys that are charged with some the really really heavy stuff. The conspiracy cases stemming out of the capitol riots. So when you're facing a conspiracy case like that it really is important that you act as a unit you know nobody rolling on each other but in the past few weeks we've had not one but i think three oath keepers take plea and cooperation deals which is not so great for everybody else facing charges right. Now it's sorta seems key if you're engaged in a conspiracy right. It kind of falls apart pretty quickly because a lot of the other rioters are kind of just people who seem to have just rushed around. Oh you know time to go. Fight some cops. Whatever they don't have much maybe jurat on but these oath keepers definitely do. And so what do you think this means for. Oath keepers leader stuart roads so suit roads has not been charged with anything yet. He very publicly let himself be photographed outside the capitol. The whole never inside never really white in the line of legal fire but if you look at these court filings damned. Does it look like investigators are sort of circling him and oath keepers leadership trying to say it's more than just the people who broke in and who had paramilitary gear going into the capital. I shouldn't laugh because he owns his nightmare. But these are the people who were like in the stack guys who had the cammo and the helmet. You army surplus sale. But ms criminal cases really look like prosecutors are trying to tie that really well known attack into the leadership may have planned in the base before the attack fever dreams listeners will remember stewart roads as the gentleman who is using allegedly oath keepers money to buy kettlebells at a lingerie store and a bunch of stakes for himself not unlike the hamburglar and this created a lot of a lot of trouble within the oath keepers in terms of the text messages. That have come out. I mean. I know there's a lot of material that the feds have been releasing in these court filings about the oh keepers plan. I mean my understanding is they had sort of a quote quick response force. That was chilling in a in a motel across the river in virginia. What are we learning about. What their plans. Where for january sex yet. So if you ask the oath keepers and say a quick response for us. I don't know anything about that. That was a mean. That was a joke in minecraft. If you look at the very compelling photographs that are starting to come out in these court cases it really looks like the oath keepers kept people in hotels with literal cases of rifles. There's a video of someone rolling something down a motel six or whatever. Hallway looks a hell of a lot like a rifle case and the logic there is that. Dc his super strict gun laws bringing a gun to dc. You're kind of asking for trouble. But have across the river in virginia and wait for the call from the leader and you can sit out there with a gun stashed pretty easily so to dig in a little bit more in this roads guy. Because i'm not sure how much our listeners know about him specifically you also note in the story that roses wife is also currently crowdfunding money to divorce him. Can you tell us a little bit more about him. And why is his wife crowdfunding clerk. I gotta get away for this creep. Why is she crowdfunding money. Publicly divorce the guy. That's an awkward one. In the old household till this actually predates the oath keepers. Most recent brush with fame. His wife filed for divorce in twenty eighteen. Alleging you know some of wouldn't you know it some nasty behavior on his part for her children. I think toward a neighbor and she filed a petition for a restraining order. That got denied. So like a lot of divorce. Cases that are disputed. It's been held up in court for ages. She doesn't have the money to keep fighting this. She says that people don't really wanna take on her case because it means taking on all the baggage with it so she's been crowdfunding to just get the hell away from this guy and they are extremes. It's not like they have to discuss this dinner table. If you ever want to make a case in divorce court there you go. The guy sounds like a real winner but in your reporting about how these leaders tearing apart the organization one of the primary complaints here that people are doing too much snitching in the other oath keepers or getting mad at these supposed tough guys who just keeps snitching on each other so this is sort of laying bare some conflicts that have been happening in the oath keepers for a little while you refer to suit roads registry spending organization money in light lingerie and iphone games. Bets been a percolating complaints more recently as oath keepers have stepped up their kind of pro trump militancy. Stop the steel kind of thing members of the organization of walks. You know they. They've pointed to these past financial os and said. Hey man you've gotta sort this out and nobody did too now that it looks like there's not much loyalty going on in courts. You're starting to see a lot of folks turn either accepting plea deals or a lot. More people talking to the media about their concerns inside the group then he would have heard in past years. Where do you think. This is all headed in terms of the oath keepers. Are they done. I mean is this going to be the the nail in the coffin for this crew. Because already we're seeing the kind of classic way of getting rid of someone embarrassing or an organization that's embarrassing which is on the right which is just saying they're all feds informants and kind of wind saying you know. This isn't our problem. Are the oath keepers. are they done for. Are they going to. My sense is that they can kind of break up into a bunch of pieces. Yeah i think that's a good way of thinking of it because oath keepers chapters. Have in the past kinda gone autonomous from the national organization but last week i was talking to a former oath keeper and i said what do you think what are people leaving the organization over this and he said i would guess about fifteen percent of dues. Paying members have left after january six. He said everybody else is a lemming. He said they're gonna follow sewer roads off the cliff so you know. I think it's it's going to depend on people's sense of self preservation. Some smarter ones might hack it up might form splinter groups but there are some people who are diehards and we're going to be there until the prosecution comes for them great. "Now this podcast is no. You're absolutely right. But yes then that leads us to the oath keepers now swing. How are you with gamers. They are like a slightly more dignified version of the proud boys nowadays. They're kind of like like graduate like after shouting at the gen z pro-choice to please get off my lawn. I mean like literally like typically called like boomers right and so i guess the basic thing about the okay. I understand is that. They're often former cops and former military in the idea is that they keep their oath to.

"Hi i'm will summer a politics reporter at the daily beast where i dig into all the darkest recesses of american extremism and extremely online militants. I'm currently working on a book about cunanan and his disastrous impact on our society. I'm also a senior political reporter at the beast and co author of the book sinking in the swamp. I've spent years covering the intersection of entertainment and politics and post trump era. That seems like the only sensible way to cover politics in this beautiful hideously. Stupid country of ours on this podcast. We're gonna take you on deeply reported plunges into sometimes hilarious sometimes scary fanatics in fact in the way that millions of americans view the world and how they vote even in the aftermath of the trump administration. The energy of these conspiracy theorists the grit. Thor's and the influencers is still pushing our mainstream political landscape closer and closer to a breaking point. We're here to help you. Better understand how and why this happening and who in the halls of power are leading happened along. The way will regularly bring on guests including political pros hard-nosed reporters and some influential voices from hollywood. Okay we'll we gotta start off its episode by talking about this intrepid female reporter and whistleblower depending on who you ask named ivory hecker apparently built back. Today i'm not entirely convinced. Is her real name if it is. It's one of the greatest names out there. It's like okay. We want like kind of a cool sounding name. But it also has to be a little down home or in texas. It's even better than jonny lee swagger the i think that's the name of the mark wahlberg character in the movie shooter. Each should have been named ivory hecker so much cooler. Okay so tell us a little bit about ivory hecker. I cannot see anything without having a dramatic pause. I and why maga internet is all a buzz about this journalists. Yeah okay so this is a james. O'keefe situation prankster prince himself. Project veritas. he's back. And i gotta say you know james o'keefe i think he's done a lot of bad things and he's not a good guy but i gotta hand it to him here on the showmanship so this yes. Ivory hacker is a reporter at a low local fox station Fox owned as well which becomes relevant in. Houston my hometown and i believe. Yesterday she was doing this segment that was supposed to be basically about how no one can get there a c. repaired because of the shortages. And it's so hot in houston and so a pretty you know kind of banal local news segment and they toss it to her and she's got like a real sweaty repairman binder and then she goes. Yeah i. I'd like to reveal that this station has been censoring me. And i'm to project veritas. And i've been wearing a wire and you know the truth will be revealed okay. We we play this clip. And i will courage our listeners. To actually watch this online because it's it's great it takes place in like an alley or something. Yeah it's an alley and you have this repairman just toiling in the back. Who's presumably not aware at all what's going on. And what later becomes clear is that. There's a project veritas guy right off camera who's going to interview her once once the actual tv segments over. And so this was really really setup thing they've got kind of like a top. James o'keefe lieutenant Rock and i mean she also does it in this like local. Tv news banter. Like patter way where it's like coming up tonight. I've been wearing a wire inside the station. You almost read it as just another local news thing but obviously it's a little crazy than that. I don't understand speech coaches in this form of tv journalism but both in local national news. The teach you particularly if you are a woman to talk as though you're not an actual human being. It's so weird like the cadence. The tried to get you employ even weirder when she employs that cadence. In the service of project veritas. Just completely punking her viewers because and and also our daily beast. Colleague max tani made this point but at some point you gotta respect. Even if begrudgingly that she pivoted immediately from this project veritas pivot and reveal to immediately going back to doing her segment in the alley with this guy who like right. I mean it's pretty. It's pretty crazy. So so actually we've got the full segment and it'll be out by the time episode airs. So here's why the station was censoring her. Basically they would not let her talk constantly about hydroxychloroquine like or last year. You know it's unclear when she was getting this audio. I mean houston is also home to the famous demon sperm doctor of course who was posting hydroxychloroquine and it seems like ivory hecker was somehow kind of like very into what she was pushing and was sort of like. Why won't you let me put this lady on or some other hydroxychloroquine person Shelter really wanted to do a segment about bitcoin. And so i mean you have these like these interviews with the station management who are just like stopped talking about hydroxychloroquine. Some point she she goes. I'm going to james o'keefe with this just as you were talking and just as we were recording. This episode matt gaetz re tweets about ivory hecker. This thing has got legs rick grenell. Who was obviously one of donald. Trump's former intel chiefs during the trump administration Was tweeting about her regularly. This is something that at least for this moment in time has the legs of Republican internet celebrity. Who knows how long she'll be able to juice this. Oh yeah i mean. She'll definitely go to newsmax. First of all she even still at her fox affiliate job right now. Like how long can you hold a job like that after doing going rogue like this on air right. I don't think they let you stay on much after that. I mean but at the end of this project veritas segment goes. James o'keefe like ivory. Hecker is now an independent journalist looking for to work for an honest outlet. So i mean i think has some openings now but really i mean when you sort of boil it down. Like everyone's getting very hyped about what this audio is going to be. But but you know we now know what it is. It's just about fox news right. I mean this is the parent company of fox news and essentially argues that. They're in the pocket of big vaccine. So you know. I think maybe this sort of does boil down to just some local local newsroom drama. Whatever people do this. Like when places. Like project veritas or other writing. Organizations are trying to blow the lid off of the liberalism. Which you know is hilarious. Even posit of places like fox news and they tried to get at it by looking at fox affiliates like in houston or somewhere in oklahoma or whatever. Never make sense to me. Are they just intentionally obtuse to the way how local news actually works. I don't think fox news has that much to do with the houston fox affiliate. I mean i think they're kind of deliberately obtuse about how a lot of things work right like the person who runs the office supplies at the washington post. And then they're like this person's the newsroom manager. You know in that kind of stuff. I mean in this case i gotta say i. I've had a little experience myself I had about With with local Tv news and they are such crazy places and people. there are just so ruthless about going after the audience. It's kind of ridiculous to me that that this is not more damning but there you go i mean you still you gotta to on the spectacle on this one. I mean it's awesome tv. Yes it's fantastic tv. Yes great content. Okay as some of our listeners are probably where there is this new report out of the federal bureau of investigation that has to do with one of our big bugaboos. Cue in on the infamous q. I will our resident cunanan expert in correspondent. Can you please dig into what this means. And why this is different from some of the other. Fbi memos that have come out in recent years or months about the cunanan phenomenon. Right so q. Obviously i'm paying a lot attention to cunanan writing a book for harpercollins evacuate non shameless plug man. But yeah i mean this is interesting because throw a while. Actually it has felt like the fbi for years was sort of ignoring q. And on or not doing a heck of a lot about it. I mean like an internet interstate kyun on kidnapping gag and people were like please. Fbi pay attention to this. I don't know and so now we get. Congress asked the fbi for report on what's going on with the assessment is is not ideal for those of us who are.
