"This is k. uaw. I'm page browning. A crowded race to become seattle's next mayor is now down to two candidates who have prevailed in the first days of primary election results. Current city council president lorena gonzalez and former city. Council president bruce harrell. The numbers didn't change much today. In this afternoon i spoke with cross cut political reporter david crewmen for some analysis. He told me he's not all that surprised by the results. You know in summer off year primary with fifteen people running for mayor i think name recognition goes really long way for one people know learning gonzales and people know bruce harrell herrell was on the council from two thousand seven. I believe until two thousand nineteen gonzales was elected in two thousand fifteen and before that for the mayor and so these are fairly well known figures so despite a lot of conjecture that people are tired of the city council. I think the fact that the two of them were not known entities overcame the fact that they have this really long history both of them on the city council. I also think that what this race showed us is that newspaper endorsements still really matter. I have been kind of harping on that for a long time. But in my mind this race was basically decided when the stranger endorsed landing gonzales and the seattle times endorsed bruce harrell because again with so many candidates in the race us in the media tried to do the best to inform people. But a lot of folks. Maybe don't have quite as much information as they'd like. So they go with the outlets they trust and just wondering if you can read into where the votes fell for. Other candidates like colleen echo hawk justin farrell in the general election would would gonzales or bruce harrell expect more of those votes from especially the progressive candidates that ran. That's always a really hard game to play you kind of try and game it out that while this person's vote will go to this person but for whatever reason it's just never that clean. The math never really breaks down. I mean for one. We'll have higher turnout in the general election and people have a little longer to get to know these candidates and so you kinda gotta hit the reset button on this. This is now a two person race. This is not a fifteen person race. So i don't know where the voters who went for calling echo hawk or jess farrell. Or some of the other people go. That'll i'll get shaken out in the debates. The mini debates that. I'm sure we'll have in the months to come. Yeah surely and these candidates gonzalez in harold have come down on opposite sides of a lot of things including the charter amendment called compassion. Seattle and this is that amendment that will be on the november ballot and would require the city to create two thousand more shelter beds. Herrell says he supports it. And gonzales does not david. How do you see this issue playing into the race. I think that this issue will will actually be a pretty big deal in the race to come because you know. Sometimes candidates in seattle are if you were to compare them to national. Political candidates are all basically progressive. And so the result of that though. Is you get these kind of wedge issues that become you know these kind of clear dividing lines and i think the compassion seattle charter amendment has the possibility to be that. Which is. here's this one. Clear issue where the two of them disagree council president. Gonzales disagrees with it. Because she has doubts about an amendment saying that the city must build two thousand new units without any guaranteed extra revenue. The charter amendment does not provide the city. Any more money to do that. And then it also contains some language around public camping and public encampments. That has made a lot of people on the left really uncomfortable that this amendment could sort of clear the door for more so-called sweeps as people refer to them hair on the other hand sees this as kind of the stick that maybe the city has been lacking over the last few years which is kind of etching into stone. This mandate that the city adding more indoor space and beekeeping is public spaces clear of ten candidates so for people who are looking for why personnel versus person. Be this might be something that they look to okay. So final thing on the mayor's race getting your crystal ball out now. Are you expecting a tight race. This fall yes. I think it's going to be a very tight race. And i say that because wall. Currently bruce harrell is up by about. Ten percentage points on gonzales. The later ballots in seattle and king. County almost always heavily favored the the person who's perceived as the more progressive of the two. And in this case that's council president gonzales. And so i would. I would guess that in the next few days that ten point gap is going to narrow considerably probably within four or five points. Which when you're when you're going from primary to the general election i think you can pretty much read that as a tie so yes. I expect that this is going to be a really close race. And we're not gonna have really any indication of who's out on top until election day november. We'll come november. We'll see far fewer candidates and likely far more voters. David crewmen covers politics for cross. Cut david thanks for coming on. Thanks so much for having me..

"And charged with three counts battery and taken to the miami dade county jail is that the flight attendants were suspended with pay while they do an investigation. I think it's great. I think that they the they took initiatives. If this guy is a danger we have to duct tape him to his seat. Wedge raises a number of questions. First of all are is there. Are there just rolls of duct tape on all airlines in case something like this happens why do airlines have duct tape. They watch everything on that plane for weight right everything on there. They know how much their coffee urns way because they have to do they do. They is duct tape normal thing that all airlines carry and then what is the best duct tape for tying down unruly passengers and believe it or not. I did some research into this. Your welcome i had to know what is best for duct taping. Someone i found out is the gorilla tape. The gorilla brand black duct tape. And i can tell you. I've used it not for tying people down. But i've used it. In a number of circumstances it is really stellar duct tape. Sadly the second best. According to the different ratings that. I've seen for time people donald with duct tape. Is the company duck tape. I cannot cute pet peeve when people call duct tape duct tape. No it's not ducks you tape. Ducts is inducting in your h. Back tied around their seals the ducting. It's actually a terrible sealant for most h-back workers will tell you. We really don't like to use that. Because of all It starts to crumble after a few years. No they use other stuff but it is magical when it comes to A number of other uses including subduing an unruly passenger. So i say that the flight attendants should not be suspended. They absolutely they should be They should be awarded a medal. I would give them a gold medal. And i would say these are the best flight attendants frontier has offered. It's it's basically the rainforest cafe in in Aliens inside of the bowels of the mothership or wherever it was and the walls were live essentially and the this entire place is covered. I mean bronze and pewter and vines must have just been millions of dollars whatever which also kind of begs the one big cheetah bar. I mean mo- mo- are we over the motif. I think so i mean. Don't hardly or brian your snob. You want to go. The best sushi joined the best. Italian join motif doesn't seem to factor in strongly. Yeah motif is pretty subtle these days. It's like beach. You know what i mean or what. I'm saying we're over it. You look when i was a kid. We wanted to go to shakey's right because shakey's had a player piano and they wore straw hats made of sira afa. That was a big enough draw to get us in the door we did. It wasn't so much about the quality of the pizza. Although i say shakey's underrated for pizza. Because they were thin crust but anyway the point is this back in the day. These things were draws like custom van. New the dude and your neighborhood. The custom van and stuff like that. Now it's more over the chucky cheeses of the world and the A everyone's backyard or every fifth guy in florida has a backyard with cultured rock and the slide built into the pool and stuff. Like it's cool but we're over and we're moving away from on just saying you're opening a restaurant you spending three million bucks in fake vines. It doesn't seem like a great business model. These this seems like if the natural history museum was on the sunset strip. Yes there's no reason for. Yes and the weirdest place comedy. Yeah of all time. You're talking right memory. 'cause you guys can really help me think more but there was a strong run for about ten or twelve years. Maybe nine late nineties early. "R C And welcome back to coast to coast. George Noory with you our final segment with Pastor Paul Bigley as we talk about end times prophecy. Paul when when you read the Bible and you look at these signs, especially revelation. It does make you wonder, doesn't it? It really does. It's just some of the book of Revelation. You know, it's very, um, interesting book because Some of it is really Self explanatory makes it pretty simple, Understand? And others as metaphoric, right? So you know, and so you have to try to say what is the what is the prophecy trying to say? And you go back to the other scriptures to find confirmation. But then at the other day, some of this you won't understand until it happened until it starts with taking place and say, Oh, This is what that scripture met. And that's why it's a fascinating Prophecy is something that Ever going ever evolving every ever, you know, revealing. That's why it's the apocalypse. That's revealing its revelation. It's and so it takes place over a period of time. So it is very fascinating and so more people study. I think the less fear you'll have less than you know, the more Haired people be I think so, too. "Carmen Reinhart. Incredibly important. My essay the summer by the Rhine Hart's plural, the Pandemic Depression and Foreign Affairs magazine, and she drives for the conversation at the World Bank and important part of our year ahead. Look right now. Well, I want to tell you how the sausage is made here when Pharaoh leaves Lisa and I go. Okay, Let's talk about what we care about. That's what we're to do right now on Bloomberg Radio and Bloomberg Television Worldwide. Honey Kim was it Danielle, which is a fancy French restaurant. Left that and did what you do, which is redefining cuisine on the island of Manhattan, and that would be in the area of Korean food. It's hugely acclaimed. No other way to put that, And we're thrilled when he Kim could join us Now on the challenges hand, honey. Kim, what do you need from the mayor? From the government from Washington from the governor. What do you need right now? Um, To be honest, we need all the help we can get. Um, you know, most of the restaurants were far behind in rent, and I think that's the most critical. Uh, we just don't have the income. Or the revenue to meet the rent that we promised our landlords to pay 5678 years ago before the pandemic when our business the revenue was 90% Basically, we're dropped. We've dropped about 60 to 80% in revenue for most restaurants and basically Excited enough to pay our Stop. It's definitely not enough to pay for utilities and rent. We're just hanging on because the law Isn't allowing landlords to kick us out of our restaurants. And when that law disappears, I think most of us are gone, and I really do mean most of us are gone. So what does the say New York City restaurant scene looked like Host pandemic should that happen. I would think the big restaurants, the chain restaurants, the The hedge fund back restaurants there. They're still okay. But that's Mony 5% of the restaurants in New York City about most of the restaurant's most of the restaurant. Towards that I know we own our own companies, 12 restaurants. And we're the ones that are in trouble where the ones who Our main priority number one is to pay our staff and then it was to pay whatever and then it was to pay us and we're all struggling to just even pay our staff week by week. On. That's not, you know, that's including not paying rent, So it Z. Not looking good. There's a question about how much the pandemic has been a transformative moment. You know, it's been absolutely devastating as you know when you're talking about for the restaurant industry, But it's also raised some questions about how things will look afterwards. Whether it's home delivery kids, whether it's meals to go. What are you seeing? And what are you doing now that you think will have a long lasting footprint on how we think of restaurants going forward. Um, I think many chefs and restaurants stores where resourceful, So we had to put it. Um, I'm myself. I have two restaurants. One started to Real kids and even deliver ourselves. And the other restaurant. We're sort of going the traditional method of just doing outdoor dining and delivering food be the services. Yeah. I have no idea where this is going to T O lied because ultimately the meal service the milk it. It's a It's a band aid. It's good enough to to meet right now. But that's not going to be grateful because for a restaurant we can't survive based on just milk. It's I want you to answer, honey in the trenches that you're in. And the struggle. You're in what Lisa and I observe, and I'm sure all our listeners And viewers observe. Nationwide restaurants are closed as a general statement. Do you believe you can run them open now, with safety for all involved? No New York City several months ago allowed indoor dining for about 25% on I asked my staff would you feel sick? I know they need the money money, eh? So I left it up to them, and my staff said no. So we didn't open indoor. And, uh, You know if my staff doesn't feel safe. I don't think that's just the diners feel state. So what? I don't mean to interrupt. We're gonna run out of time on it is just so so important. What do you need from President Biden right now to get to February I need Him to make sure the vaccines are readily available and week by week, it becomes more available because it feels like the opposite right now. Three weeks ago, when people were, you know, optimistic about getting the vaccine now, especially in New York. No. Where can we get the vaccine? And it's for anybody and everybody. So we need that vaccine soon. Now our most important at least the arguments. You know, at least that optimism of will soon be able to get the vaccine. Yeah. Only can thank you so much with dodgy, of course, legendary and Korean cuisine on the island of Manhattan. I'm sorry, Lisa. That's the most important interview of the day. Yeah, this dollars to that he had. I mean, it just really highlights the concern on what we're seeing Everywhere. I mean, just a shuttered stores. This feeling of the world's just on pause after it's been on pause for a year, People start just getting exasperated and Lisa. This goes so much. Who's the guy with a foreign accent? Farrell Farrell, John feel it goes so much to what John Farrow says is we're making excuses here about income replacement substitution, rent support landlord support is well in other nations are doing a lot better job of it, and there's the microcosm right there. We'll just highlights. You know, away from the game, the gambling parlor that we've been talking about all morning. There is an economy is still very much waiting for these vaccinations. And it's not just when it comes to restaurants, but also with kids, and I know that we both experienced this time this sort of Malays washing over all of the school kids. They're not able to socialize in any real way. It is a very, very real I situation with depression and a whole host of other problems. People just being left behind with this engagement, and the question is how quickly Can we unroll some sort of vaccination schedule to release these kids and let them go to school? "Up well, Roto Rooter can help you there too Well another weekend another day to get some things done. Happy, tohave you and if you'd like to grab a line and talk about your project, I'd certainly like to do that. Here's our phone number. It's 808 238255, 808, 238255 and many of us you know, we got an extra day off on more time to work around the home. Hopefully, you find some time to have a little fun. Also. I know we've all been investing in our homes and probably this weekend's no different. I see. In my neighborhood. A lot of roofs going on. I see Dex being staying. They saw two people yesterday is ah was out and about doing my yard work of ceiling. Our waterproofing their concrete driveway. So ah lot going on and what scary going to do on his birthday? I'm not going to work today. Well, you're here. Well, this isn't work. This is fun. Yeah. There you go. This is just fun. This is fun, though. We're just take it easy today. Nothing big plan, but ah, Yes. Another trip around the Sunday anybody All right. Have a good for 45. Yeah, thanks. No problem s so again if you'd like to join us, and our numbers 808 to 3 8 to 55 808 to 3 to 55 gravel. I, um We talked a lot about basic home repair yesterday even spent some time analyzing the houses. We took our walk around the house. We talked a little bit about the garage door seals and Talked a little bit about concrete. But today's another thing that I'd like to talk. I think I mentioned a couple of weeks ago and that is over the years. Ah, gutters kind of get You know? Loose. Ah, maybe it doesn't have the quite the drop. It used to have to get the water to the down spout. And you get just the ever so slight collection of leaves or pine needles. And they're you quickly have a dam And you quickly have water that can't get to the downspout. Um Those are always something to check. And then yesterday we had AH, call from a lady with squirrels in the attic Should squirrels in the walls she could hear him And you know there's not just something you spray up there and everything goes away. But trying to find out where they're entering is is key. And that can be done whether you have squirrels or not, because you need to really take a look and see where the most vulnerable areas of your home is. So that animals don't get into your attic and winter over. And we talked about the face she aboard again. That's where the gutters come into play. If they become loose off the face, she aboard and start tilting forward and water spilling behind it, and that board begins the rod. Raccoons, squirrels. They can just scrape that rotted wood away and enter your addict so fast or maybe where the corners or minor might erred, and they've kind of separated. Water's got In that wood beneath the paint, because, remember a paint Just not for cosmetics paint is a seal it it's ah, protecting that wood from rock and water intrusion. So really important that you'd identify those spots now before they become serious issue areas. So if you have the old gutters with the nail in the Pharaoh Ferrell Farrell Farrell on but it's not driven into the trust. You will see that those nails back out pretty easily. And maybe you're tapping him back in every other month, And that's because it's not nailed into that trust. So you need to correct that you can correct it a couple of ways. Several ways. Actually, you could locate the trust in their S o That you go through the facing into the trust and you got some would really bite and hold those gutters And don't use a gutter. Nail use a gutter Screw Has a little square head on it instead of Ah, Phillip said. It's a square head. A little more torque in here is Dr that writes for the face you right in the trust. You might have to get one of those depth finders to find the density of the wood. That's behind near the more dense area. That's probably your trust, and you can go in from there. Also, there's brackets that connect underneath the gutter that literally support him. So older homes had the problem with the nail in the Farrell, especially if they're not installed properly. But getting the knee you know, gutter screws in a bracket. That's really the ticket for good support and to make sure that's in great shape that that would isn't going to get rotted and cause all kinds of issues. Busy. It quickly will So if you're AH, don't really have a project. That's something I would recommend. You might take a look at it and just inspect and see if that's a area of issue. When I talked about threshold of the garage. That's another thing. It won't be long and mice will be looking for places. Toe locate during the chilly or months, and don't let it become your home. Um, I would check areas like the garage door the bottom of the garage door. Keep the garage door close. Don't just leave that open, especially over the next month or two, because that's when they start looking for a home. And if that door's open well, that's like, you know, the motel six inviting you to come on in, keep it closed, and if it is closed Take a look at the base of that garage door and make sure that that seal is sealing off the whole base. And it's not gapped at one end or the other. We're mice can get in. Those seals are very easy to replace. They simply slide into the track. If it's a CLO pe door. There's one size fits all. But that's an area where a lot of home invaders The mice find their way in is at the base of the garage door. Another thing to do is take a look is staying on that threshold frame of mine is the thresholds for doors. Whether it's an entry door in the back of the house or the front of the House. Usually you'll have or you will have a threshold that when that door closes, they'll bill apparatus that it'll seal on top of it will either be would with a little spring steel. It'll be aluminum with little vine or rubber ins in set into the threshold, and when it closes, it compresses it. Creating a tight seal. A lot of times on those vinyl ones. Over time that seal gets split It dry rots. It's missing. And again it's a highway right into your home and you can take a quick look at making sure that's not an issue. So there's all kinds of things we can certainly inspect. Had a good call from somebody the other day to about garage doors and The maintenance on nose, which is critical. It's something you can contact a garage door company to do or in some cases, even kind of do it yourself is a little preventive maintenance, and I'm talking about addressing the rollers. The hinges. The springs. I don't want you adjusting the springs but lubricating and ah is always a good idea. And if there's any grease on the hinges or the rollers of the rails Make sure you eliminate that with little mineral spirits and ah cotton cloth and then spray no blasters Got a garage door lubricant, thickening. He sprayed on all of those. Just keeps it well lubricated because During extreme temperatures. That's when they fail, whether it's the summer heat or the winter cold. So now's a good time to clean.

"This music veteran Paul Clark a song that reflects one who is seeking to come back to his first love which in this case is Jesus. Hi, Bob, Farrell here. John Farrell Farrell and Farrell. You're listening to the full circle. Jesus music radio show bringing you the very best of classic Christian music with Jerry Bryan. As we come to a close. I I thought I would share it some thoughts on the situation that we face in the world almost every day and it doesn't matter whether you hear this show now or a year from now. Our our world will constantly be in turmoil and Chaos without Jesus. He's the only one that can change any situation. If you let him change about thirty years ago a songwriter my friend Michael Dimas here in Nashville along with my friend Bob Farrell who performs with his wife Jane in a group called Barrel on Farrow. This song has a message. We need to hear right now regardless of when you listen to this show. This song is from the group's last major label release of new material an album called super power on Dayspring records off. Although the record produced four songs in the CCM charts sales of the CD didn't meet the company's expectations. And so with the group After Eight studio albums one live a woman several compilation albums decided to hang up their microphones a few years after its release. Well, they did do a self-produced Christmas CD in 2008 and it played a few of benefit concerts from time to time even played a benefit concert for themselves when their home was flooded in 2010 here in Nashville. "Macarthur foundation that mac found dot org this is All Things Considered from NPR news I'm Mary Louise Kelly and I'm ari Shapiro president trump spoke today with a leader of the Taliban he says they talked about the peace deal to end America's longest war this is thought to be the first call between an American president and a top Taliban officials since the US invaded Afghanistan after the September eleventh attacks and be a White House correspondent Frank or don't yes joins us now with details I Franco hello how significant is this call it's very significant it's further indication of the administration's push to end the conflict it's been almost twenty years starting after September eleventh two thousand one you know this conflict has cost more than twenty four hundred American lives and U. S. taxpayers trillions of dollars about a half million Afghans have been killed or wounded president trump as you know to talk about it today here's what he said as he was leaving the White House we had a good conversation we've agreed there's no violence we don't want violence we'll see what happens they're dealing with Afghanistan but we'll see what happens president trump also said earlier that he would meet with Taliban leaders himself in the quote not too distant future you know there are more than twelve thousand U. S. troops in Afghanistan the new deal calls for the beginning of a process to withdraw those forces in return the Taliban agrees that it won't allow Afghanistan to be used to harbor people who threaten the security of the United States or its allies and what's the Taliban saying about this call with trump well the Taliban spokesman said on Twitter that trump spoke to the leader Mahmoud Abbas rajar for thirty five minutes he said that trump told the Taliban leader that he would ask secretary of state Mike Pompeii to speak with the Afghan government and try to remove some of the obstacles in the way of talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban the two sides have been at an impasse for some time about the release of prisoners president trump was actually asked about the Afghan government's reluctance to release some five thousand prisoners today here's what he said well they may be reluctant allies they have been yeah they've done very well with the United States for many years far beyond military if you look at all the money that we spent in Afghanistan I see both sides have prisoners and both sides are very wary of making of you know giving up concessions they really just don't trust each other so it's unclear whether Pompey can actually push through that impasse as in trump's been talking for a long time about bringing troops home how close is that to becoming a reality you know that's really to be seen president trump has made this a campaign promise he has long complained that American forces are little more than policemen in Afghanistan and that countries need to defend themselves it's a you know but it's really still a very delicate agreement you know we were close to this point before trump canceled a secret camp David summit in September where the signing was originally to take place he called off peace talks after a Taliban attack in the Kabul killed a US service member and the reality is the potential for violence still remains and that could derail progress trump himself said today that the war in Afghanistan has gone on for twenty years and frankly it's not easy to get out of these conflicts and Paris Franco or Dhoni as thank you very much thank you one thing is for certain Massachusetts senator and presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren has a fan base of loyal supporters what is less certain is whether Warren who has yet to finish above third placed in any primary contest does she have a path to the nomination and here's Daniel Kurtzleben has been with the Warren campaign for the last week she joins me now Hey Danielle hello hi there it sounds loud where exactly are you I am in Detroit Michigan where she is supposed to speak tonight I am outside the venue where she will be speaking you will probably hear some intermittent chanting and yelling because her supporters are all waiting in line and there's the most definitely now Warren has been all sorts of places over the last week she's popular a few super Tuesday states Arkansas Texas Alabama California last night and she voted in Massachusetts today but tonight she's here in Michigan and people keeping score at home might realize that Michigan is not a super Tuesday states but this is an indication that Warren is looking ahead that after tonight she's going to be campaigning for those states that have their primaries next week as Michigan does so at the very least seem suggests she's not backing down okay so not backing down keep moving but again she has not won any contests yet and what is her plan to do so and then ultimately if she wants to win the nomination that's a great question number campaign put out a memo the other day predicting that no one will win an outright majority of delegates so it seems to me that she's hoping for a win at a contested convention now presumably to get there and to have any sort of a case there that would mean she'd have to have some sort of strange and so her campaign has been predicting a big delegate wins tonight and we'll see about we'll see about if that happens things are kind of up in the air you know she might pick up some form of did supporters because she and he had had similar constituencies mainly white college educated white both of them but she's on the bottle in some big states like California because in some of the states you have to get a fifteen percent support season right around fifteen percent California so there's a real he's going to get over that I can hear the chanting I can hear the yells of supporters behind your ear on board but what about other voters what is her message what is the case she's trying to make to win voters over so she's been doing her usual stump speech lots of plans including a new one to deal with corona virus but she's also shifted from the kind of kind and friendly unity message she was giving towards the end in Iowa in her last couple of appearances she's really sharply criticized Joe Biden who as you probably know scooped up some big endorsements yesterday from people who'd agents in clothes are in federal court and here's how Warren responded to that last night in Los Angeles no matter how many Washington insiders tell you to support him nominating fellow Washington insider will not meet this moment she went on to call interest of the country and the party to nominate Biden not only that but she the other night in Houston took aim at Bernie Sanders she said he has great ideas but she cast it was ineffective during his time in the Senate and he said he's less likely to accomplish progressive goals than she would be and how are her supporters reacting to that and and the broader part of the message you know it's it's a mixed bag some will tell you it's a long shot but they're going with her anyway but a lot of others are really Die Hard fans and have been for years you know they love her they think she's really smart and they're opposed to trying to like strategize and vote for someone they like less snow good example is Naomi said who I met in Los Angeles last night I mentioned to her you know Warren is behind the delegate said here's how she responded we are barely getting started on the delegates and when somebody shows up who you don't it's not just that you dislike them the least but you actually genuinely like them you've got to be excited about I mean if you can be excited about something right now you should be excited about you know I mean there plenty of reasons to hide under the covers but she's a reason to get out of reason to get out of yeah but one of these yes voters still one vote indeed it is Danielle Kurtzleben she's traveling you heard it there was sworn campaign in Detroit and we will be hearing from other campaigns throughout this evening thank you Daniel thank you you're listening to All Things Considered from NPR news the most prestigious award in architecture was announced today for the first time it is going to two women who work together here's NPR's neda Ulaby the architects introduce themselves in a video released by the Pritzker architecture prize my name is Shelly McNamara and my name is Yvonne Farrell Farrell and McNamara are existing spaces and fitting into them she says and she's delighted by the choice it's a really satisfying announcement and they are just phenomenally good architects whiting says the Grafton style draws on brutalist traditions the buildings are massive box in monumental but they also increase you inform and light it's very strong architecture the buildings are very inviting even though they're pretty beefy buildings frankly one of their best known as the school of economics in Milan Italy which they designed using heavy gray local stone the top looks a little landed geologic formation at the street level is luminous glass architecturally not Tamara said in a twenty fifteen lecture in Stockholm it's supposed to feel as though it's floating above the city in answer to the trauma of the piazza del Duomo there there was also this sense of ground and sky we would carve the ground understood we would make a kind of a sky world which would hover over the ground this was Grafton's first building outside of Ireland since Robert McCarter he's an architecture professor at Washington university in St Louis and he wrote a book about Grafton architects he says the design required thousand faculty offices they seem suspended above the building and long rectangular rose clad in class which means they have light but they also become kind of a filter through which the skylight pours down into the space below Crafton architects has become a leader in designing university buildings in Perris Lena and London and Shelley McNamara and Yvonne Farrell met as architecture students buildings for schools they say need to be both marketplaces and monasteries jerseys on Caroline twenty fourteen at the royal academy of arts if you put students into a certain kind of space that we expect to be fat if you put them into another kind of space they will expect to be challenged or they're automatically challenged challenges nothing Grafton architects shy from says Robert McCarter and he's pleased this award is the latest in a string of high profile owners I don't think there's anybody working in the world right now that's quite innocently without they're really amazing and the whole variety of reasons one is that they're building fits so well in these historic context and they get the toughest sites and some of the city's yet they make cities seem to flow into their big statement buildings he says they don't really look like anything else that's been there before but at the same time when you use it at this it totally connects the city back together again D. Pritzker jury sided Grafton architects integrity and generosity in awarding of the prize it's going to women before but never to two women working together at a time when.

That's that's when feral killed that guy and they stopped his body into the walls of a building and they ran away. This is some genuinely heavy. Darts Arcs Shit. Going on here it only gets more so to as they progress He said turns out their their birth father left because there were too many kids and Lucia thinks that because Maria found that out she then let Caroline Matteo di and kind of Thomas Thomas Hardy move or maybe she didn't it's ambiguous. It's implied that she could have saved at least Matteo but I liked it. We never find out vote. I liked it. All we have is this tragedy and we're left with questions we do know that. Yeah Yeah. feral definitely killed her mom's boyfriend and also also feral killed their mom because when she found out what happened she slaughtered Farrell's Farrell's pigeons Maria had these pigeons in a pigeon coop and they were all she really cared about in the world. And I look at the line. And yes, they've got a cold Miller, who had a lot of issues last season allowed many sacks tons of penalties. I think Brandon Parker he's either gone or probably not in the rotation more and they've got brownie outside. But on the interior gave husband, one of the better centers in the NFL. But then it's. Probably Rodney Hudson gave Jackson. The guard also was from that very good offensive line struggled a bit last year. "The next generation has taken over Adam Copeland and Ryan cove as sitting in for Murph and MAC on the sports leader. Right. And I were just off the air during the break kind of talking about like workout plans, which is funny to discuss like the day before thanksgiving. Talking about how good we're feeling like eating lighter. More healthy. I've picked a fine time of year to overhaul my diet and make some real changes in my life gone like another month and a half, and he would have been set for that new year. But I couldn't cope. He couldn't. No, we need to hit the new year all systems go I was I was determined to finish twenty eighteenth strong parties for running at the ball rolling cruise right into right into the new year with that that goal in mind. But it got me prompted on talking about the this article I read about JJ watt, maybe three years ago four years ago in the off season where he was after one of his defensive player of the years, and he's talking about how he is self imposed three a day workouts on himself self-imposed like the Texans didn't say, go workout to know JJ said, no, no, no. I'm a defensive player of the year. I work out three times a day. He did want it like six one at noon issue. Another one four. So the problem he was having. He said was he would get to that third workout and he'd say God, I just I can't get the extra push from my. The body. I said, yeah. No, s dude. Three workouts day. So then he's talking about the fuel. He's eating dudes like that like is that do cross fit. They don't eat for enjoyment. They eat for fuel. Yeah. It's for sustenance gas up. Yeah. I gotta go get some petrol or whatever it is. Yeah. So he beacon make sure use your club card and get like ten cents off a gallon, Chevron with tech run. He was. Heels tech ri-, bro. It's whatever that keeps the sludge out of. I dunno. We're getting into claymation cart commercials now, it's beyond me. But JJ watt was saying he eats like fifteen to twenty chicken breasts in a day why he's doing these three the self-imposed workouts. Then he was adding like eight or nine avocados to get he said you got to get the good fats oils. The gotta have those good monounsaturated stuff's he's eating that up until his third workout gets the third workout. And he's like I'm still not getting enough energy my body still not giving me enough. So he added fifteen to twenty slices of bacon. Days go and fifteen to twenty slices of bacon twenty chicken breasts and like eight or nine avocados. This is your like two thousand fourteen defensive player of the year must be working. Solomon thomas. Call double j get on it baby. Speaking Solomon, Thomas, John Lynch, still saying that doesn't doesn't consider him a bust. Well, we still got time. But he was the number three pale. I understand what you're saying. You're right. I I agree right now also bust. I I'm frustrated too on the field and big moments. I know in the fourth quarter, he's not playing and that's very frustrating and something we're going to have to ask John which we have them on later today. Seven fifty five you ask them. I'll ask I'll ask him this because I'm curious as to how a general manager can go about evaluating the coaching staff and a season like this because it's fair to say sure we had expectations. I think you'd probably have to look at it from a developmental standpoint. And you look at it from the players they've acquired like Matt Brita who we're going to have on next segment at six fifty five. That was a good fine for them. Right. But then you look at a guy like Reuben foster and Solomon Thomas, and you say, well, those were high draft choices that might have missed Nick Mullins might be a serviceable backup quarterback. They got him on the practice squad. That's good evaluation. But how do you valuate a coaching staff when they don't have all of their weapons. Right. I it'll be interesting to see what he says because you're going into this offseason. Looking like you're going to have a top five draft choice. You're going to have seventy million under the cap to spend. You've got a lot of defensive players and big pass rushers hitting the open market. How do you value it? How do you go forward who do you? Go get. And I think because we know how important rushing is in the NFL ask Jon Gruden good pass rush hard to find see the Chicago Bears. I think edge. Rush is absolutely where this conversation needs to start. And you know when you watch this team play. That's what will drive forty Niners fans. Crazy, how many close football games they've been in the last couple of years. Now, they continuously snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and not closing out games in the fourth quarter. Now, is it personnel? Is it they're not accustomed to winning? Is it bad coaching? I think it's mostly the personnel. And you just don't have guys on the field that believe that they're going to win these football games. I feel like in the fourth quarter when they have the lead. It's like it's like Tommy boy with the sale dare and. And everything just goes up in smoke right right at every time. Yeah. And so that's the forty Niners. When they've got that little birdie in their hand. And don't squeeze the birdie. That's your win. And they do every time and that kind of stuff can be contagious. And so it's still a long way to go. Personnel wise. They absolutely need to upgrade it so many positions corner defensive end. I mean for me, those two you gotta have it. And I could use a Reuben foster. Maybe he could do a little something. That'd be nice. I understand it. And you know, he's the kind of player replaced so fast so downhill so violent. I just think that's who Reuben foster is he's guy that's going to spend a lotta time in the training room. And have a lot of nicks along the way when you got him. It's great. But damn, you know, I wouldn't expect to have them for sixteen games every year. So if you're playing devil's advocate from John Lynch is position, and you're gonna you're gonna say kinda what we were just saying in that the the roster is not healthy. Obviously Jimmy Garoppolo was the big hit. So the offense is going to take a halter or hit a halt as far as developmentally goes. But the wide receiving corps. Probably not where you want to be you need some more weapons or peer Garson has barely been on the field Archies Goodwin. There's a reason you small slot receiver guys oftentimes don't last a full season because they take these big blows. And they miss a lot of time. Also being a speed guy. The second unique up that hamstring or or get a little growing pull than you're out for a couple of weeks. So from his standpoint from a team that's this far the salary cap. Maybe he looked at this and said, hey, we've got a couple of years to put this thing together. We didn't even have a quarterback when I joined this team not one on the roster at all not a not a not a Garoppolo nobody. So he comes in. And he says I've got a couple of years to redo this thing we're going to wait until we hit a big off season or I can go get a big defensive player. I think it's just a question of what is your philosophical belief on drafting defense versus signing defense. And where do you go to get these players personally? I'd like to go get a season pass rusher on the free agent market. I'd like to draft my secondary. Okay. That's fair. Because I think generally when you draft when you're paying a secondary player like a Nandi right number. What's what's the awesome? All got his big contract. You didn't see any statistics from him because people just stop throwing over. Right. You feel like you're not getting your money's worth. Whereas if you draft a Sean golsen, Dante Whitmer or you bring those guys in on your own and Eric read, you feel like you can develop them by the time. They get paid. You've brought him the next crop of guys. Yeah. And we've seen the forty Niners. Go heavy defensively. There I go around under under Shanahan and Lynch. And first of all, we know drafting in the NFL is such an imperfect science, it's easy when the team struggling to look and say all this draft class of you know, twenty seventeen that we were so high on. Yeah. Sure. Absolutely. But a couple of losses or a couple of wins one way or another forty-nine delinquency like this at the forty Niners that close out a couple more of these games in the fourth quarter. And they were sitting there at you know, what's a record two in nine right now if they were to an excuse me. Yeah. So if they were sitting there and five and five even and I think if Jimmy Garoppolo didn't get hurt. That's exactly where they'd be. Right. I think at least two I'm thinking to more. Maybe maybe three. You're right. Sure. So we could play this game. But I think it would have beat the giants. Probably one of those cardinals chargers Packers. I mean, hey, remember that game. Different with with Garoppolo. My point is just a couple more wins in another direction. And then all of a sudden, it's hey, maybe this team isn't as far away as we thought. So losing a couple of games in the fourth quarter can dry, and we're talking about a handful of plays and that can drastically alter your perception of a team like almost one hundred and eighty degrees. And yeah. Certain guys slipped up the sheriff killer Witherspoon who we thought. Oh, this this this step. Yeah. Absolutely. Especially under the tutelage Richard Sherman. He's gonna be terrific big step back this year. Adrian Colbert, seventh round pick found money hurt. You're like, oh, man. There goes that production Reuben foster we thought, hey, well, you know, maybe Solomon Thomas isn't that top player, but Reuben foster fell so far on the draft of he could end up being that guy. Maybe say look out of these two first round picks. We gotta start and we got a guy that's a rotational defensive line. That's one of the the huge. I mean, total slaps in the face is. Yeah. Jimmy Garoppolo getting hurt. You know, that's a massive injury. But every player, you just mentioned we came in thinking Reuben foster will take the jump right? Maybe Malcolm Smith will come comeback be a major factor. Killa Witherspoon Richard Sherman is gonna play the achilles. Not a major factor though. He's missed a little bit of time. But you're right. These guys now have just not executed at all. Is that personnel? Is it coaching? How do we evaluate that? Because it's not like the defense has missed a ton of players all season long. It's the offense that lost their quarterback and they're running back and if still put together a couple of good games. Yeah. And the defense for me it starts with the pass rush in it look pass rush. That's what I'm saying. In a great pass. Rush can mask a lot of ills of a defense. When you're asking these guys to hold coverage for that long. It's not realistic in today's NFL. And the problem is deforest Buckner will get that push up the middle. The majority of the time it's just flush that quarterback out. Nobody's there to finish them off. So it starts at the edge. I don't know. I I think Nick. Plus the forty Niners really tank and they end up with like the number one pick. I think both is gone one maybe two, but I think both is going that high. You got a Colin Farrell Farrell from Clemson. Yep. He's he's and a half sacks right now. I'm sax last year sixty year before your Kentucky, Josh Allens, looking pretty good. He's moving up Montas sweat for Mississippi State. Brian burns out of Florida state. He's pretty good. So there's a lot of a lot of quality edge Russia's in this. I think this is going to be a good year. Fred rushers if I'm the forty Niners. I draft me a couple edge rushers. Don't forget on Lawrence will be free agents as well. Guys. You can be looking at in the restricted free agent market all stuff we can continue to talk about John Lynch on with us at seven fifty five. But one of the bright spots of the season. Matt Brady HOGAN, we'll have him on next segment at six fifty five coming up here. Adam Cova, Adam Copeland, Ryan, Adam. Spider. Monica. Your Adam too much to do your time for a check of traffic.
