The Biden Doc Distraction With Peter Schweizer
"Research is fabulous. It's impressive. It's thoughtful and you really did a lot of work on it. Obviously. And work that other people did not do. So I'm just going to kind of allow you to riff and to walk our audience through it. What do you think is going on with this Biden document scandal saga and how, if at all, does it connect with the Biden crime syndicates for in deals? Great question, Charlie. I mean, to me, the Biden document scandal is sort of the typical bureaucratic approach by which is basically avoiding the bigger scandal and going off on this little sort of technicality. So what do I mean? We have now known for quite some time. It's not been disputed. It's clear in corporate records, financial records from China and Hong Kong elsewhere. That the Biden family got some $31 million from four Chinese businessmen beginning when Joe Biden was vice president of the United States. And those four Chinese businessmen who gave these tens of millions of dollars to the bidens all have links to the highest levels of Chinese intelligence. So one of them who Hunter Biden and the laptop calls the super chairman, his name is che Feng at the same time he was pouring money into the coffers of the Biden family was business partners with the vice minister of state security with responsible for foreign espionage. I could go through the other three businessmen as well, but they have similar types of ties. Visiting massive issue in acid problem that the mainstream media has largely ignored, frankly, completely ignored. The Biden family does not dispute does not want to discuss it. And now you have the document scandal erupt and the issue is really over the handling of classified material.

Bali's water crisis threatens local culture, UNESCO sites
"Experts and environmental groups warn the Indonesian island of barley faces a looming water crisis from tourist development, population growth and water mismanagement. While water shortages are already affecting many UNESCO sites, wells, food production and Balinese culture, experts project these issues will worsen if existing policies are not equally enforced across the whole island, UNESCO worker, Feng Jin, says Bali's intricate landscape is rare and under threat. This is one also one of the very special case of living landscapes in Asia. Islanders have a unique traditional irrigation system called the subak, which uses a network of canals, dams and tunnels to water the island. This is now under strain the population has increased over 70% to some 4.3 million people, including tourists, according to census data. I'm Charles De Ledesma

John Zmirak Shares His Thoughts on Italy's New Prime Minister
"There's a new prime minister in Italy and she speaks clearly and firmly about the importance of borders of national sovereignty of answering to the will of the voters, not globalist elites. She is pro family, pro life as far as I think. I think she inherits a difficult situation, we should not get our hopes too high about what she'll be able to do in office because Italy like so many of the European countries is run from afar by the European Union. It pulls the strings controls the budget if Italy tries to rebel too much against the European Union's policy of managed decline and the gradual replacement of Europeans by immigrants mostly from the Muslim world. If she rebels against that policy too much, German bankers will pull strings and bankrupt Italy. Look what they did to Greece. You remember what the European you don't think there's something like a Brexit could happen? I don't know what they would call it. They would call it Feng wool or something. What would it be, what would you call it, but you don't think the Italians could conceivably. It would have to. They would have to pull out any country that wants to actually be sovereign. Has to get out of the suicide pact that is the European Union. And eventually get out of NATO, which is a nuclear suicide pact. Now,

Why Are the Chinese Buying Up America's Farm Land?
"I mentioned the story yesterday. I want to reiterate this. The Chinese are buying up farmland all across America. Do you know the Chinese own a 100 million acres? Of farmland? Do you know that? That, according to sources in Texas, the Chinese own dozens of square miles of farmland and they don't allow anyone to come in. So the Chinese Communist Party is buying up farmland all across America because they know that our ability to produce food, the bread basket of the world is one of our strategic advantages. It's something that many countries it's an envy of the world. So what do we do? Well, that's the free market we allow our enemy to come in and buy our farmland that then very well could result in food shortages. The CCP they're malevolent their deceitful, they're sneaky, they're liars. But we just invite them in. So the governor of North Dakota Doug burgum, courted an invited the Chinese Communist Party to go by farmland right next to an Air Force Base. What could possibly be wrong with that? Obviously nothing. Even some Democrats in Washington, D.C., this is too much. Say, so the fu Feng group bought 300 acres of land near Grand Forks North Dakota to set up a milling plant. Air force, the Air Force Base nearby says, quote, passive collections of signals near the Air Force Base, very well could be detected. This includes a grave vulnerability to our Department of Defense installations and is incredibly compromising the U.S. national security.

"That's <Speech_Female> <Speech_Music_Female> <Speech_Female> fantastic and it <Speech_Female> a great <Speech_Female> A great <Speech_Female> idea to <Speech_Female> to add to your staircase. <Speech_Female> I remember <Speech_Female> my. My mom <Speech_Female> had a staircase <Speech_Female> in her <Speech_Female> last house. <Speech_Female> And it was one of those <Speech_Female> staircase straight <Speech_Female> up but <Speech_Female> the thing. That was a really <Speech_Female> neat thing. She had a <Speech_Female> table <Speech_Female> and a lamp <Speech_Female> there. And at christmas <Speech_Female> time she had a <Speech_Female> little christmas <Speech_Female> tree at the top. And <Speech_Female> it just it drew <Speech_Female> your attention <Speech_Female> up so <Speech_Female> you can do that with <Speech_Female> a maybe <Speech_Female> a vase of flowers <Speech_Female> or <Speech_Female> a plant or <Speech_Female> maybe have a lamp. <Speech_Female> There's lots of ways <Speech_Female> that were interesting <Speech_Female> figurine <Speech_Female> or something like that but <Speech_Female> this is one <Speech_Female> of the ways we want to convey <Speech_Female> that energy <Speech_Female> up. All <Speech_Female> right there you go. We <Speech_Female> talked about rules <Speech_Female> about <Speech_Female> staircases. <Speech_Female> And <Speech_Female> and <Speech_Female> what you need to know <Speech_Female> about them <Speech_Female> and one of the <Speech_Female> things that <Speech_Female> You know is so <Speech_Female> important about them <Speech_Music_Female> is that they can actually be <Speech_Female> a benefit in. <Speech_Female> and like. i said it's <Speech_Female> you wouldn't want to have to <Speech_Female> live in a two story <Speech_Female> house without them right. <Speech_Female> But what's <Speech_Female> what's critical to know <Speech_Female> that especially <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> if you have <Speech_Female> a <Speech_Female> spiral staircase. <Speech_Female> There really are dangerous. <Speech_Female> There's really <Speech_Female> not a place for <Speech_Female> them. And if you <Speech_Female> do happen to have <Speech_Female> a spiral staircase <Speech_Female> the best <Speech_Female> thing that you can do is <Speech_Female> cover it up or <Speech_Female> in it <Speech_Female> like in a closet <Speech_Female> so that you have <Speech_Female> to open a door and <Speech_Female> then go up the stairs. <Speech_Female> You don't want <Speech_Female> to actually see <Speech_Female> the wet that <Speech_Female> metal <Speech_Female> turning that <Speech_Female> that's visually <Speech_Female> boring into <Speech_Female> the house. Because <Speech_Female> it's boring into <Speech_Female> some part of <Speech_Female> your life and <Speech_Female> that's what those <Speech_Female> that corkscrew <Speech_Female> represents and that's <Speech_Female> what we want to avoid. <Speech_Female> So that's <Speech_Female> really the most important <Speech_Female> thing about <Speech_Female> spiral staircases. <Speech_Female> I <Speech_Female> had a <Speech_Female> client <Speech_Female> who had <Speech_Female> a spiral <Speech_Female> staircase and it was <Speech_Female> actually read <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> a read spiral <Speech_Female> staircase metal <Speech_Female> and <Speech_Female> read. Oh my <Speech_Female> gosh. In <Speech_Female> this particular <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> household had <Speech_Female> its share of <Speech_Female> difficulties. <Speech_Female> Let me tell you <Speech_Female> all kinds of family <Speech_Female> problems. Mental <Speech_Female> health concerns <Speech_Female> all kinds <Speech_Female> of things. So it can. <Speech_Female> It can be very impactful <Speech_Female> for you. <Speech_Female> So let's let's <Speech_Female> finish up <Speech_Female> here with <Speech_Female> staircases with <Speech_Female> three important <Speech_Female> tips <Speech_Female> and that is <Speech_Female> make sure <Speech_Female> that you <Speech_Female> are moving <Speech_Female> energy <Speech_Female> up from the bottom <Speech_Female> really <Speech_Female> important that you <Speech_Female> have some kind of artwork <Speech_Female> or lighting <Speech_Female> that is <Speech_Female> lighting up the <Speech_Female> stairway the helps <Speech_Female> move <Speech_Female> the chief from <Speech_Female> the bottom of the staircase. <Speech_Female> All the way <Speech_Female> to the top tip <Speech_Female> number two no <Speech_Female> open risers <Speech_Female> always make sure <Speech_Female> that there are no open <Speech_Female> risers has <Speech_Female> this is <Speech_Female> energy that <Speech_Female> falls away. You <Speech_Female> are losing energy <Speech_Female> when you have <Speech_Female> open risers <Speech_Female> that go from one floor <Speech_Female> to the next <Speech_Female> so important that <Speech_Female> we know that the <Speech_Female> other thing is we <Speech_Female> want to make sure that <Speech_Female> we take <Speech_Female> especial care <Speech_Female> with the <Speech_Female> staircase shape <Speech_Female> and especially <Speech_Female> when it comes to spiral <Speech_Female> staircases. <Speech_Female>

"I think it was two and a half feet two feet from as soon as you open up. The door was just enough Space for the door to open. And then there's the staircase so it's like staircase small space door and that can create energy. That runs out quickly again. It's not as bad as the stairs at are right at the door but sometimes In those are usually on the right or left but then you can have the staircase faces the door and when you have a staircase exactly opposite the door energy moves out really quickly there too and this is This is what we want to stop and slow down. This is why we want to maybe hang a crystal between the stairs and the front door. And if that doesn't work you can you can You can sometimes put a small mirror at the back of the door that reflect. The energy beckham the stairs. But i really don't care for that personally. What i like to see is a small round rug between the stairs and the door and this round shape helps to keep the energy sort of swirling right there and keeps it there and makes it slowdown so it doesn't run directly out the door it. It is another sign many times when you have a staircase that faces the door. We want to Create something to slow that energy down because it can create problems in the neck Many times there will be a loss of money and there might be neck difficulties like a stiff neck or head problems. It can also create problems for the head of the household as well. So if you have house. That has a staircase that is directly opposite the front door. Now directly opposite ten feet away Directly opposite two feet away the closer. It is to the door the more impactful. This is so really important to pay close attention to having something between the stairs and the door. I really like having a really nice chandelier if you can. The you know have one actually has crystals on it. This helps Kinda put like hand down on energie kind of push it down. Hold it down and keep it from running out so quickly. That's really important. If it's a long way between the stairs in the door you can put a table. They are a roundtable around rug. This will help to slow that energy down to Really important to do that. So that money also doesn't run out. You may find that you have problems with with money and be able to keep up with bills or getting money coming into the house. Let's talk about the staircase shape and this is the shape that that matter so much now if you have a.

"Of energy throughout your home and in some cases certain stairways can actually be harmful and create severe problems for us. So let's talk about some of those staircases and what they mean and and the types that there are and some of the rules around them because those well those rules are are there for a reason so the first rule is when it comes to functions way is that there should be no open risers and so what does that mean. What's the riser. If you imagine that you when you're stepping on a stair step where you put your foot down that's called the tread and when you if you were to push your foot into the back of the stair that's that's called the riser that's the part that rises up to the next tread right rises on up now. In contemporary homes many contemporary designs have these open risers and they can actually become dangerous in fact even though they look really cool and they're really awesome in contemporary homes. They actually are dangerous. Not only can you slip and you know hurt. Hurt yourself like your leg can fall through your foot confall through. It is a way of energy falling in out of of those steps. It's not ca- vein energy up and down the stairs in a smooth way so if you can imagine think about if you were to have a bucket of water at the top of staircase the has open risers and you started pouring that water. What would happen. The water wouldn't run down the stairs neatly. Inflow down to the base of the stairs puddle in a pool at the bottom of the stairs instead it would. It might run down to a few stairs. But chances are it's going to run out at the first couple of steps because it's just. It has no risers to conduct that water down to the base the stairs. So if you haven't guessed by now rule number one that no open risers means that you are cut off from energy and this is important especially if this is where your bedroom is you are going to have It.

"Oh lo and welcome to five minute funk hsi-wei funkaway podcast that talks all about cool stuff like funkaway. Its way cool. I so glad that you are here with me today. Talking about staircases and stairways this is a subject. I really like in is something that we don't talk a whole lot about in functional but they're important these stairs because they convey energy right. They they helped move you from one florida or another so that makes them kind of important you. You would be kinda hard if we had to imagine a house without staircases. We'd have to pull vault into bed if we had a second storey house. So this makes staircase really important for moving energy and making sure that we get energy up those stairs and down the stairs because well we gotta get up and down the stairs right and it is one of those parts of punctuate it has some little finicky parts about it and i wanna talk to you a little bit about some of those finicky parts because that is all about today's episode in what you need to know about stairs and are there good stairs under difficult stairs or their star stairs that cause you problems. We're gonna talk about all that we're talking about some rules to because yasha knows that's fun. We love rules right. Not really. we've had so many roles. Haven't we mass. No mass vaccine a vaccine. Whatever it is we've Been hearing a lot about rules here in the last couple of years. But you know Rules make for Are are good. And i'm so glad that we haven't because we didn't you know we'd all be driving around crazy on the roads and not staying in our lanes and and So important that we follow those rules. Well let's talk about some funkaway rules for stairs But you know. As i mentioned the they're more than just a way to get from one florida another win..

I've planted at my own yard and it's a beautiful plant to have tip number three always balanced the trees in your at your home. Make sure that if you have a tree on the left you have a tree on the right and vice versa. It's important that they represent both the yen and yang energies. And remember that you wanna have trees a little bit higher on the left side of your house as you look out. Well there you go love and hug on your trees. They are beautiful sentinels of our environment and give us beautiful oxygen debris sicko out and hug and thank your trees..

"It's also a good way to get opportunities and recognition. It brings that that would element helps to feed the the flame of fame. So it's a really good thing to have time to spend with trees and to be around trees in punctuate perspective now. Let's talk about some of the things that they also do you know. Obviously they fruit. They flower they give us things to eat. they also have a powerful influence on our homes when we look at our trees. We wanna look at what they're doing for our home what they're doing in terms of our home and if they are creating blocks if they're if they're imposing there are trees for instance there's a of a client and just recently. She's magnificent oak tree but it is. It's really it's it's so big and so large it's actually. It's actually sort of threatening when you look at it it's it's almost a threatening stance and while it really hurts me to tell her that it's it's not Auspicious it's it's so important that we look at the symbol of trees and what they can bring us but also how they affect our lives and find other ways to to manage them. So let's talk about the support number one. When trees are planted at the rear of the house they provide that mountain support at the rear of the poverty. So if you're familiar with functional you know that the armchair position is is considered to be the optimal position for your home in the landscape. So when your home is is on the on the lot on your property if you've got a little rise to the land behind you that's deemed auspicious but maybe you don't or maybe. The house slopes away. The land slopes way a little bit. If you've got tall trees back there they give you that support. Ideally you wanna have trees that are not too close to the house in having those trees will give you That sense of feeling of support like you would if you are seated in a nice management chair with a tall high back..

"However i do think we have all an understanding of things that we regard as beautiful whether that's a beautiful sunset A beautiful landscape that we're looking at a beautiful home and by beautiful. It doesn't have to be palatial. It it may be it just has curb appeal and pretty plantings outside. Beauty is something that lifts us up and it is one of the reasons why there are lines that stretch and snake for hours and hours outside of her side. Though the palace of versailles of louis the fifteenth the sun god because he focused on the beauty of the verse i palace he wanted everything to be just this shining example of beauty and it is a spectacular treat. When you get to go there and and see that i. I still recall. When tim i went. There is actually right before. The pandemic was really starting to bloom in asia and in china and we were there in october twenty nineteen and the best part of the of the day. And i would totally do this all over again so. Have you ever get a chance to go there. Make sure you do. This am when we got there. You know everybody's waiting to go and take the tour of the palace will multi objective. Was the minute we got there to those grounds was to make a beeline for the gardens because they have incredible little golf carts that are outfitted with speakers and they play this beautiful choral and and classical music and if you could imagine driving around in tooling around the gardens of vir- cy with your own private golf card. All that beautiful music going on in the background. It was like all i news. A glass of champagne in my life would be complete but it if filled my soul is why people go to the the lou. This is why people go to mount fuji. They you know we are in need of beauty. We see coarse language on television. We see Glass steel buildings which can be beautiful in their own way. But it doesn't really do a whole lot. I don't think For your soul. It doesn't really stir your soul. The way that maybe westminster abbey Might do it or the palace of versailles or even a a temple in ki-ho which is magnificent. They're they're p- they were. They were invested in the with time and thought and art and beauty at its sole. So today we're talking about functions way as it relates to beauty. Because when something's beautiful you could say it has good funk's way In general so for instance a house with A beautiful curb appeal. That's great funkaway. "I can't say like right now. I have got an a kitchen bomb in my house. it is. There's kitchen stuff everywhere. It's ridiculous me the garage the living room because everything had to go everywhere because it wasn't in the kitchen because we had to empty out the entire kitchen and as it turns out and i got a lot of kitchen stuff because i love to cook even though i'm i'm doing the whole Instant noodles spite all the very needed attention that there needs to be on my kitchen getting things back into the cabinet. I've been i've been tired. I've been just flat worn out and one of the things that i do for myself. Is i pay attention to my plants and garden. I go pick flowers. I plant a roses. And i go pick them. I make sure that. I spent a little time outside. Every morning i go for a walk. I i get up. Have my coffee read the newspaper. Yes i'm a dinosaur. And then i go for a walk. Put on my my sneaks and head out for some air for some sites that are beyond the four walls beyond my computer screen and and it gives me a new lease on life one. Because i'm saying hey you in your health and your energy your mental health and just being out is number one. I'm putting on my own oxygen mask the you have to find. What's the oxygen masks for you. What's going to make you feel better. What are you gonna do. That will honor your energy in honor your chee because he only you know what that is. Maybe it's tai chi. Maybe it's yoga. Maybe it's meditation. And i think that meditation even if you don't know how to do it. Just sit quietly for ten minutes. That is an amazing kind of recharge and reset on your energy. I find that if i can sit at my desk and just kind of wreak focus my energy and just feel Dislike myself and my mind. Go a little bit and just relax and i find that i'm more productive afterwards. Some honor your energy find that way and find multiple ways because sometimes maybe we're having a lot of rain right now and i may not be able to walk tomorrow morning so i've got to find some other way and something else i can do. That's going to honor my energy. I ahead of the kitchen ahead of what somebody needs ahead of. What email is sitting there waiting for me. Whatever that is so honored your chee an honor. If first lastly look for the mess. Now i know i've got a mess everywhere you have certainly heard about it and i always find that when i look at my house as an extension of myself when i'm feeling frantic or over will welcomed. I can almost always find a mess somewhere when you have a mess in. Your house is symbolizes a mess in your life. So where's.

"This is one of those those topics that it's coming on a lot lately. We've got mercury retrograde coming up from may twenty nine to june twenty second we also have two eclipses lunar eclipse on on the twenty sixth of may and then a solar eclipse on june tenth. And this is a big very big kind of pressure-filled cosmos we were dealing with. There's a lot of energy and it's back to that. That carnival rides talking about where the walls close in on you and you might feel that pressure and things that you thought you'd move past. They're just going to loom large. They're going to come back to your to your awareness. Maybe you thought they were. They had gone away. But they'll come back to your awareness. Old things will crop up again and there's going to be some changes in the universe One sister change. And i said that many times the hardest thing to change is not. Your environment is that it's the funkaway the six inches between your ears. That's where we need to function. The most and this one. I want to talk about is how you can use funk's way for when you're burned out and and help yourself cope because there's a lot of of what we're having to deal with right now. Just an awful lot. And we've had this year of of pandemic and now we've got this whole big cosmic energy. We just got through the first of the year and can you believe we're almost a june. I just that blows my mind to think about it. It's time speeding up. And we feel like time is shorter. And we don't have as much time and there's so much more to do so let's talk about when you feel overwhelmed and how you can manage that feeling of being burned out with funkaway We're all dedicated. People right were dedicated to our jobs or lies. And there's just there's times when we feel frustrated we feel rush were aggravated Anxious feeling the other shoe is going to drop or like. There's all this detail in my new show. It may be a lot of people. Say it's this or just as one thing or it's just it's only will only take you a moment and sometimes you don't have a moment it. Your moments are filled. You just can't do it and when you start kind of feeling that that you're getting crushed you know that. Feeling those walter closing in or you're just like no. I can't no i can't do one more thing. No i can't get out of pot. Noah can't take the lid off a jar of tomato soup. I can't do that. I can pour water. And that's this is what's important is that When you start feeling not. That's a good sign that you're reaching that burnout stage and it can come from all kinds of ways like your job endless deadlines that kind of thing you know and being on the clock all the time today employees are asked to answer emails late at night on weekends and often on vacation in fact a lot of people are always on and they're always able to be contacted and reachable across multiple platforms. So you never have a moment's recipes and that really is a recipe for burnout and burnell can also come from caring for everyone and everything and maybe not enough for yourself. So whether you're a veterinarian or a nurse you work in a caring feel feeling like you can no longer offer that same depth of caring or services compassion fatigue but it can also happen when you have a special needs child or maybe elderly family members secure for just managing live in a busy family..

"Sculpture will keep your basement space from becoming too still or to stagnant. You always want something kind of moving. And in fact it was the moving movement element That helped me sell my house and that turned me into a functionally fanatic. I don't know i wouldn't call myself. Fanatical about anything except a stash shows. I do love those. But i'm not fanatical about functional. I just liked to practice it. But i was definitely a devoted functionally practitioner and what had happened was when i when tim and i i got married. We have fixed a house and then he got a job. In north carolina. We had the move across the country in this beautiful home that we had already to go sat on the market. Didn't sell denzel. Didn't sell and i looked at it. And i said what's what is this house need. I said you know it still. It's deathly still and of course we're talking about basements. And what are we talking about below ground. What happens when you die. They put you in the ground. And this is why. We're talking about basements. And so. When i looked at that house and i saw through functional is it was deathly still. That's what i'm going to get. A pendulum clocks. Stick it in the middle of the house just to create some movements. And i kid you not. We had We had showings in offers within days and that got my life moving. And that's when. I fell in love with funkaway. So there's my little quick my little roundabout story about how important movement is and how important it is especially in an underground space or below ground space. Sounds underground. sounds like you're in a tunnel or something like a gopher anyhow but it's it's so important that you have that movement energy because it keeps that space alive really really important now the other thing that you can do is to use color so bright young and growth focus colors like red green orange pink or brown these all represents the the represent the colors of wood and fire now. Bright brings the energy of the sun not dark yellow but bright yellow is a.

"Of of of yourself and anyone who spends time in a basement environment now. I know where i live. I remember growing up. My aunt lives in the same town. Where i live now. My great aunt and she had a basement. And i thought it was the coolest thing i always wanted to go down into the basement and she was always very worried about it because they had very narrow stairs and i thought it was just the coolest thing. This is not a common feature. At least where i live in central texas where i grew up and in south texas where i currently live. This is just not something you saw very often. But they are in other parts of the country many times You see them built into the side of a hill and maybe they'll have like a patio door that will go out out onto the Into the yard something like that And also apartments many times in apartment buildings there is a uh space below ground that is made into an apartment and this is one of those possibilities that you might have if you're if you have a basement of course you may have it as a just a general storage room or laundry room and which is perfectly fine and and actually if you do have a storage or lodger. That's really the best use of of a basement. But if you have a basement in your home that you want to use as usable space or maybe that is your living space. Maybe that's your own apartment or you are renting a room downstairs or something like that. Then this is your living space and you wanna look at this little bit differently than if it were a laundry room or storage space Some people have home workshops and things like that. That's perfectly fine in general. If that's the type of use that you have for your basement then you just wanna keep it kind of bright and light enclosure free and also control that moisture as much as you can and otherwise. It's really about all you have to do. But if someone is actually living there and then it takes a little bit different approach. You want to approach it a little bit differently. So if you have a living area or your home is below grade You're gonna wanna think strategically about your functional because we need to find ways to lift the energy and improve the funkaway so that your basement apartment or living. Space is supportive and energetic for who who spends time. They're so important. Maybe you have it as a guest room even if your guests are saying. They're not staying very long. You still wanna make it a comfortable place for them to be no. Let's talk about some below ground remedies. Now there are some certain guidelines that you wanna follow if your home office rear living spaces below ground and the best remedy is to remember that. The energy of basements is pressed down. So you want to use a lifting energy that incorporates active elements and energies because those are the most helpful for that below grade experience..

"We don't wanna feel like we are A plant in a pot. That's too small. It's sort of like walking around in shoes that are sized to small. It's painful and you're not going to get very far because you're limping from all that pain so make sure that You know when you look at their so appealing bonsai trees. I think they really are. They're very appealing they're beautiful. They're artsy You know you think that these are long lived plants But i think that in a home. I think they do represent that that stunted growth and we don't want to have Have that in our homes. We wanna have. We want to see our lives full and full of growth and good strength and resiliency all the good health that that that comes with that. All right there you have it. I hate a little primer on on houseplants and functions way. So what we learned today. Let's go through the tips tip. Number one is small. Plants can pretty much go anywhere and don't worry about where you put them. Just keep them nice looking and and use a little touch of green in every room. Every room needs it tip number two. Don't place plants in the bedroom and don't put them at nurse sectors they will. They can harm your relationship there in your bedroom and your health as well. The same thing is true if you have them in those corners those earth corners of south west the love and marriage sector and the sector women and i will tell you ladies we. We need all the energy we can get right. You don't wanna go stick in a big old plant in the southwest corner because you say you might say why am i so tired all the time and i'm i'm a little ticked off to plants can make angry. You know it's a women are earth sectors or earth elements and we're ruled by the earth element and while plants. I love plants and plants are wonderful They can Create a fatigue. And sometimes what happens when you get tired you get cranky so go. Check the southwest corners. Make sure you don't have A plant in there. That's too big is. The same thing is true in your garden the sometimes if you have a shrub that's overgrown there you go might be time to either transplant at or take it out Lastly let's talk about plants as enhancers. We love the idea of putting plants in the location where they're going to be the most effective an effective for what will wealth and prosperity in career. Now the one plant ruled that we have about about plants and career is putting a white orchid a white flowering orchid in the north corner to give you a career bump really good idea this year also helpful in the southeast as well and of course you know succulents. These are great enhancers. A jade plant is is so high highly regarded because it it holds water. And what does that mean. It's holding wealth. That is the element that's associated with assets and growing wealth. And you want to have those types of a fleshy plants in the corner of your house with like jade plant or some such type of succulent. It's it could. Even what's considered a cactus. Remember as long as it doesn't have those thorns and I'm going to throw in tip number. Four and that is cactus is great funkaway just outdoors where it can be protected not indoors where it's spiky and those little words can hurt all right. Well that's all we have for this episode of five minute funkaway. I hope you get some plants in your house as always love it if you lean tunes review and i love to hear from you. Send me a note. Drop me a line. I love to hear from you anytime and thanks so much for listening. I really appreciate you. Have a great.

"Now i particularly like to use them as a as a drain against the five yellow or black to illness afflictions. This is a An energy that can create very ill health accident severe severe problems and because it's an earth of affliction. What do we do. How do we drain that. Well we're talking metal and wood drain earth. So if you have you can have wind chimes in there but since we're talking about plant sus will stick with plants. I really liked the lucky bamboo for managing the five yellow. And the black too because these can be like. You can put the three bamboo stocks in a glass vase with some some stones and fill it with water and they will help to drain the energy of the five yellow and black to These are really I think is a great funk way remedy and you can find them absolutely anywhere. It's inexpensive and you can. If if yours peter out you can always find them and replace them easily and inexpensively just about At any any anywhere you look you can find them..

"It's because i've gone to the nursery and the garden center just way too many times and it's it's a have to contain myself it's true I do love to buy plants and It's just a a disappointed joy for me but let's talk about large plants. Because you know sometimes we have a plant. We had it forever. A we have a plant that our realtor when we bought the house that we're in now his name was fred and fred gave us When we bought the house and we moved in he came and brought us the most beautiful Corn plan in. We is what we call them here to recina. It's a big tall plant and with big Green leaves and they growing those sort. Sorta woody looking Parts trying to think what you call that its trunk and then the green comes out of it. But most of the time they're called here corn plants and it was a lovely sized plant. It's gone bananas. it's huge but We can't i just don't have the heart to leave it outdoors all year long. I bring it in during the year. And i put it in the lucky corner because i love that energy and it's just grow and grow and grow but what happens. Is those big plants have a lot energy so you wanna put them and position them carefully so for a large indoor tree or plant really should not be placed in any of the earth sectors so try to avoid place him in the south west the northeast or the center sector and you also want to avoid the north sector now the excess would in especially from a large plant or a big grouping of them will how will pull on the relationship corner of the southwest it will drain the the intellectual decision making and an educational wisdom portion of the northeast and it will also take a drain on the center which has an effect on everything on our lives. The center is one of those areas. We really wanna protect. And it's an it's an earth corner and those large plants or big groupings. Plant groupings will impact your health and relationships and drain them. And we don't want to do that and in fact there's often i will often look and see a the spanish style. Hacienda in more commonly. I see them down here. Where we we live next to mexico. We have a lot of spanish architecture throughout the us and many times we'll have those interior courtyards. And then sometimes people put a big tree in there. And whenever there's a tree in the center It really takes adrain and a toll on relationships. I do remember jennifer. Aniston and brad pitt. How to how to a A house and it had a giant tree that was in the the missing center sector and and that was the house that they they eventually divorced in. This is one of those things that can happen..

"Green and that our home with plants can turn home into a living space and that's because there really isn't a bat plant out there all plants have benefits but there are some guidelines that will help you place your plans for your home. Auspiciously including plants for wealth and prosperity very often a room without a plant. It appears lifeless and still does in my mind anyway but the question really isn't about which plants are good or bad punctuate plants. It's really about where they're placed or how they're placed so let's jump there and talk about where to place plants now. In general plants are best suited for the east and southeast because well those are the woods sectors there harmonized with those sectors. And they're beneficial. They're they're also good in the south fire fame and recognition corner. This is because the south can use the energy of the plants so the really wonderful to have their you can also place them in west northwest corners. This is where they can enhance those corners. Although typically metal in would don't go together it doesn't hurt that corner to have a plant there. So let's talk about how important plants are in terms of activating you for great fortune and good luck and one of the best ways you can do. That is with tall plants. These are perfect for placing in the lucky corner of a room and the lucky corner of your room is always going to be wherever you stand in the door. It's usually to your left and diagonal to the door. It's where your i naturally falls and by putting a tall lamp there or a tall tree or tall plant. You will always pull your i way across the room. It makes the room seem larger. It draws you into the room and it activates the room for luck and good fortune. I i highly recommend that you do not miss the opportunity to enhance an energize. The lucky corner of your room and it's great when you have a plant there now if you have a bathroom let's say for instance and it's an earth corner. Light southwest northeast or center the center sector. These are earth sectors and having a bathroom in those locations can actually push down the luck of those corners. So for instance in the southwest. This is the romance direction. This is the the corner of the woman of the house of marriage of of love in relationships and and all the loving feelings that we have the northeast is the the corner of decision. Making the center is the encompasses health and wealth. It can it. It encompasses happiness and it is the backbone the around which all the energy in your home moves around these are the three earth corner southwest northeast and center. And.

India-China clash: 20 Indian troops killed in Ladakh fighting
"Why did Chinese and Indian troops fight in a remote valley along their shared border this happened high up in the Himalayas with thousands of troops from both countries have been stationed for decades at least twenty Indian troops died in the fighting and China won't disclose how many casualties it suffered for some explanation we've got NPR's Emily Feng in Beijing and NPR's India correspondent Lauren Frayer on the line learn this is a very specific part of the world the very remote part of the world what's this place like and what does India say happens there right so no well this is at fourteen thousand feet up in the Himalayas subzero temperatures there's almost no civilian population there and so that we have to rely on the two militaries to tell us what happened and they have different versions of the story both say the other started it we do know it was hand to hand combat with stones and wooden clubs because they have this agreement not to carry guns in that borders on an Indian Army colonel is among the dead India has been building a road in the area that could be used to deploy a future troops more quickly China may see that as a provocation both sides have been pouring in more troops and building more infrastructure there recently and so that's led to some scuffles in recent weeks have also been some high level military talks as recently as last weekend actually to try to defuse tensions but you know the opposite appears to have happened okay so that's from India's perspective Emily you're in Beijing what is China saying about what happened China says it bears no responsibility for what happened and it says it was Indian soldiers who first crossed into this no-man's land that separates the troops stationed in this valley yesterday night China's military put out a statement in which they accused Indian troops of cloak deliberately launching a provocative attack and big knowledge that tensions have been simmering for a while I spoke to retired colonel and and China's army his name is you have gone about why he thinks this clash happened here sure I'm not sure sure sure gallantry you know it's also one of them he said it was inevitable given tensions that people were going to die in a border clash between India and China and he put the blame on Indian prime minister Modi's who as a leader he said taking a more aggressive expansionary approach colonel yeah believes like many people in China that India provoked this clash so they could score points with more nationalistic voters in India and as Lawrence of we don't have that many details about what actually happened unlike India China's been very real to to share any information I asked the foreign ministry today white they can't give us casualty numbers and they said verbatim they didn't need to why is this so sensitive in China most likely it's because Chinese soldiers were killed in the clash and that's an embarrassing and very rare occurrence China's military last night admitted that there were casualties in general stemming from this clash but they didn't say which side in which they occurred China also says they're not releasing casualty numbers because they don't want to infuriate their own citizens and much of the escalate learn I want to ask you about what is at stake for India here because we're talking about the world's two most populous countries and both of them have nuclear weapons it is worried about its own territorial integrity I mean it doesn't want to lose land on this border to China China has been pretty aggressive in India's backyard of China is a close friend an investor in Pakistan which is India's arch rival next door China's building ports and infrastructure in places nearby like Sri Lanka Nepal across Southeast Asia and even farther afield India is the world's largest democracy Washington sees it as a buffer to China's influence in the region and if India suffers a stinging defeat at the hands of the Chinese military really challenges that idea so what is the Indian government saying so prime minister narendramodi had a coronavirus meeting today and at the start he observed a moment of silence for the slain soldiers he also made his first public comments about this clash hi from the doctor he said India wants peace but that if provoked India is capable of giving a fitting reply and he said India would never compromise its integrity and sovereignty so that sounds pretty tough but it may be aimed more at his domestic audience actually because here's what it sounds like when you turn on the TV in India today he was DVS China devious China has broken the peace after forty five years the consequences our great so that's a TV news anchor sounding pretty angry there's a hashtag trending today trying to get out so there's a lot of emotion in India right now the Indian Army however has been very measured urging commented actually noted that it was the cold that killed the majority of these troops that were wounded in battle but then they succumbed to subzero temperatures is what the army said to technically not killed by this Chinese soldiers the army made that distinction and so seems to be trying to de escalate here okay so in India at least at the government level and attempt to de escalate Emily what is China's government saying what are they telegraphing China is trying to de escalate as fast as possible first of all the average Chinese person is not paying attention to this clash it simply is not a story in China there's been no coverage in state media beyond this military statement and second China's foreign ministry said today that Beijing is maintaining close communications with India and that they both agree dialogue as the way

What You Need to Know About the Coronavirus
"News covered nineteen what you need to know about coronavirus I'm Lucas Univar now we're going to look at the ways authorities around the world are responding to this pandemic the trump administration's handling of the crisis has been heavily criticized the president has given confusing advice contradicting his own experts and misleading the public about timelines for testing and vaccinations morning edition's Rachel Martin spoke to three of NPR's international correspondents about how other countries are handling the coronavirus Sylvia Julie is in Rome Anthony kun is in Seoul and and Lee Fang is in Beijing Emily I'm gonna start with you because you were covering the crisis in Wuhan from the beginning can you just give us a sense now about what was the trajectory of the Chinese response to this well for the first month after that initial cases of the current affairs sure there wasn't a response there is local cover up in a delay and during that time of about five million people left the virus epicenter in like the spread it to the rest of China but then the country mobilized it did so very quickly imposed very stringent self isolation and quarantine measures and by self isolation I mean people sort of waiting densely populated areas they canceled all public events they shut down factories and offices and by quarantine measures and that the they still sealed off cities and villages completely Anthony how does what and we just say said compared to what's been happening in in South Korea while South Korea got hit right after China and because of south Korea's experience with previous epidemics they decided that rapid mass testing for the virus was going to be the key to their strategy and so they've been testing around fifteen thousand people a day S. three thousand six hundred people per million of population compared to five people per million in the US results also focus on transparency putting out daily statistics and press briefings Sylvia in Italy I mean now Italy is has replaced South Korea as the number two in the world after China when it comes to the the scope of of this pandemic what has been the Italian response drastic curbs on freedom of movement and there's been overwhelming compliance only food shops pharmacies and you stands are open people can go out but if stopped by police they must show kind of affidavit that states the purpose either work grocery shopping health or emergency police are carrying out random checks they face either three months in jail or a fine of two hundred thirty dollars the purposes social distancing keep people apart Italy's following China's lead the Wuhan model so Emily the Wuhan model hasn't worked I mean transmission has decreased there has not yeah and experts pretty much unanimously agreed that's because of social distancing it will destroy your economy as it temporarily has in China but it quickly slows the virus's spread another thing China did was it built these makeshift centers where they sent six people and sending instead of sending them home and researchers in both the US and China have now said this week that that was critical to slowing down the outbreak but this could be a measure that western democracies may be unwilling to take as for quarantine measures though sealing off the ledges and cities that's the jury's still out on the efficacy of of that because quarantines meet harder for medical medical resources to reach heart the hardest hit areas and that's probably why fatality rates in the epicenter in China are nearly four times higher than the rest of the country so Sylvia how have the measures worked in Italy what's the situation right now is there any slowing well nationwide it's too early to say it hasn't hit the peak yet the quarantine that was put in place a few weeks ago in the contagion epicenter in Lombardy eleven pounds fifty thousand people local authorities say it's working the contagion rate has dropped and that's why the quarantine was extended to all of Italy to try to prevent a spread to the south which has much weaker health systems than those of the north which were among the best in Europe but they are severely strained by this crisis now I'm Anthony South Korea chose not to take measures like we've seen in Italy or in China with these dramatic quarantines are lockdowns and yet it seems like the have still been able to to keep the crisis at bay right yeah well okay so numbers have been declining for two weeks in a row and sexualities of been at less than one percent compared to about four percent for China and six percent for Italy and you know doing this without having to log huge regions down is also a kind of effectiveness kind of accuracy was or something specifically about South Korea that made it possible for them to avoid large scale large scale quarantines well it's you know testing capacity is not just about cats it's about investment in basic healthcare infrastructure lab technicians chemicals machines logistics and if any one of those areas has a bottleneck it's going to mess things up and people are going to lose lives and it's just you know at the end of the day it's investment in in a healthcare system hospital beds you know national health insurance and this shows up in survivability for all diseases including covert nineteen and lastly Emily and Sylvia I'd love for you to talk some about how the different political systems in China and Italy have affected the coronavirus responsibly you alluded to this earlier but really how much of China's success in mitigating the spread has to do with the fact that this is this is a country frankly with a long history of human rights abuses it is an authoritarian state we've seen transparency is critical for a fast response that wasn't present in China but because China is a very centralized government one might say authoritarian it was able to mobilize quarantine measures and self social distancing very very quickly the problem is quarantines may have cost more lives than we know but we'll never know the secondary costs of people who are not able to get timely medical care and suffered from it because they were sealed into their villages or cities right and still be obviously Italy is a democracy what is been just the people's response to these kinds of drastic measures the crisis has totally turned the world upside down Italians notorious for cutting into line not very beaten to rules are become the most compliant people I've ever seen in my life and French correspondents based here sent a petition to French president Emmanuel MacColl telling him France underestimates the gravity of the epidemic and failed to prepare French public opinion they say look at Italy it's our duty to tell you there's no time to lose NPR's Sylvia patrolling Anthony kun and Emily Feng talking with rich mark fears about the impact of coronavirus have sparked a financial crisis in the markets Austin Goolsby who chaired president Barack Obama's council of economic advisers says that as the virus spreads American markets might be hit even harder than China's and here's our Shapiro asked him why if you look at the economy of the United States or of the rich countries in Europe they're much more dominated by these face to face services that are exactly the things they get pulled down whether their leisure and entertainment and sports or going to the gym or all sorts of services so if everyone stops doing that that's a bigger hit on the U. S. economy even that it was in China we went when they shut down he also said that virus economics are different from regular economics explain what you mean by that yeah by that I mean the closest thing in our in our collective memories to this moment was a financial crisis right into my house I natural crisis economics and business cycle economics is a little different than the virus in that the main thing that is paralyzing the economy is this year and withdrawal and so in a way the best thing you can do for the economy has nothing to do with the economy with virus economics and that is things like paid leave for people that are sick is actually not stimulus it's paying people not to come to work but anything that slows the rate of spread of the virus is the best kind of stimulus so if we have to get on top of this as a public health matter I think before you can effectively deal with this as an economic except if we do so the rate of the virus in this epidemic continues for weeks or months is there anyway to turn around the financial slide yes and no no in that look if there's going to be a substantial slowdown our goal is and should be allowing us the opportunity to bounce back it as this thing passes over us and that means you can't let everybody go bankrupt or starve or have these persistent lasting problems from what we hope to be a temporary shock and so do you see the crunch that we're experiencing now as an irrational panic or an appropriate response to the cancellation of big economic engines like pro sports like Broadway lever like school like the economic activity that goes on in major cities every day yeah a bit of both as we in fear the withdrawal and have social distancing to try to slow the virus there is going to be a substantial slowdown of economic activity right but I can never get out of my head from the two thousand eight crisis Paul Volcker's words over and over at that time that during a crisis the only asset you have is your credibility and as the U. S. government has not made credible statements that contributes to fear that makes it go down and we've we've got to do better we need the president to

Monocle 24: The Briefing
Irish politics is about to change forever as old system collapses
"It is now two weeks. Since the elections in the Republic of Ireland created a seismic change in its politics with the end of a two party system which switch between finagle and final full and the emergence of a third powerful voice that of Shin Fain now Ireland's political parties are preparing for a week of talks to try to work out a deal on the formation of a new government. And as you would imagine it's hard work a little earlier I was joined by Namie. O'leary she's hosted the Irish passport podcast and Europe correspondent for the Irish Times. She began by explaining how much progress has been made since the elections. There's been an initial round of exploratory talks between the parties. We've had the first vote to try an attempt to pick T. Chuck and no one has been successful. So now it's moving onto the second stage This week they'll be more talks between the parties on the next time. We expect to have a vote in parliament On to try and elected Ishaq is march the fifth. Although it's not particularly expected that one will be a elected by that stage so the main thing that's changed since the election is that immediately after the election it appeared that fearful had opened the door to some kind of deal with Shit Sane. The left-wing Nationalist Party unexpectedly got the most number of first preference votes But last week they're quite acrimonious exchanges in the Dole between the leaders of those two parties. That made it quite clear that that wasn't an option that was on the table on this really leaves only one option left with the numbers that there are some sort of deal between the two traditionally dominant parties fearful fingernail. Chin Feng stay. They're still going to try and form a government to the left government of change and their plan to hold rallies around the country in in favor of that government But it's it's very unclear whether they have the numbers to do that so we are now in a situation. The way you've just described what I learned could be taken into absolutely different directions. Xinfei wanting one thing and the two old traditional party thinking if we get together we might be able to keep control in some way. Well it's very politically difficult situation for Phoenix. I'm fearful to manage because in a way there's no bod- option for champagne. So she would be delighted to get into government but equally if they can be the main opposition on they can cast the two old parties essentially two sides of the same coin. No difference between them and clubbing up to keep the might of power. That's also you know that's a good political narrative from their point of view note. That can help to kind of rally their base for next time on the other option of courses that we go to the polls again in another election. Although I don't think that's particularly likely on Xinfang could with hindsight run more candidates and perhaps do better than they did this time We we shouldn't expect any kind of resolution soon because the mats are quite complicated at this time given the result on if we look at the president of the last election it took seventy days time to to form a government and it could be even more complicated this time so we might not be looking at government until April. I'm just looking at the way things are going in. And the idea that shouldn't fain was approached and and now is being pushed out. How acceptable a situation will that be given as what you describe the popularity of Shin Fain in the elections and the changes it caused yes certainly Like I say it's a. It's a narrative that the party will say is them being excluded from power. They'll say that you know the old guard is coming up to preserve their hold on power and won't let them in But also from the point of view Finnegan and fina full they they. There are opposed. To should vein. I mean they. They don't want to simply hand them to keep the keys to government and also a lot of the same way so there's quite a lot of division particularly within fall about whether the right thing to do is to to do a deal with champagne or to exclude them. That that's a split that runs right down through the Party and in the end me home. Martin seems to have taken the attitude that the best option is to exclude them But it's a it's a tricky one for them. They're in a difficult political decision. How happy will voters be though? However if this seismic change isn't actually reflected in the way that the governments are made up. It's a tricky one. I think what Finnegan unfruitful are. Perhaps counting on is that as the weeks go by there will be more of a Desire for stability especially as the brexit negotiations become more pressing. Because that's going to become an issue this week. When the European Union is due to agree they're negotiating guidelines for the next stage of tokes which has massive implications for Arden. It can really make or break the Irish economy so the more in state unstable. Thanks get on the International Scene. I think On funeral are perhaps wondering whether overtime Irish voters might say. It might not be such a bad thing to have a stable experience government in place that was naming leary hosted the Irish passport podcast in Europe correspondent for the Irish time. She joined on the line little earlier on at talk to me about the Irish

Who is the Ivory Queen across the world activists reporters and locals were clamoring to know what crimes sixty-six-year-old Yang Thing Glenn had committed as a Chinese ex-pat based in Tanzania? She owned a popular restaurant strong. In Dar es Salaam the country's largest city the Beijing restaurant was the best place in town for authentic Chinese food. Dozens of locals worked as waiters. Their Yang promoted her restaurant as a place for everyone. A place to grow community ties but in late two thousand and fifteen authorities charged that she'd been using her restaurant as a front behind the delicious food. At the Beijing restaurant Yang was processing large quantities of contraband. Ivory Yang's arrest was the book end to a multi year pursuit by Tanzanian police. He's a car chase through the streets of Dar es Salaam to catch her seemed to be plucked from a movie. The scene was entirely unexpected Ted from a kind elderly bespectacled woman on paper. Yang certainly didn't fit the profile for an ivory tycoon but her or status as a gracious transplant looking to build. Bridges was a carefully calculated facade when she said she was serving the community. She actually meant serving herself. Yang was ruthless if trafficking. One of Africa's most sacred animals was what it took. Look to line her pockets. She was ready. She do anything for White Gold.
