Lori Loughlin and her husband agree to plead guilty in admissions scandal
"Court papers indicate actress Lori Loughlin and her husband Mossimo G. a newly will plead guilty in the college admissions scandal under a plea deal she would spend two months in prison he would get five months part of the reason I think Laughlin was able to get such a favorable deal is that she and her husband were very aggressive in going after the prosecution's case and showing some of the weaknesses with their key witness Rick singer and how they plan to cross examine him during the trial legal analyst Laurie Levenson says the pandemic could play a part in what happens next we're in the middle of a pandemic and it's not at all clear that the sentence will have to be served right away first of all you have to have the guilty plea and then the sentencing and then I'm sure that they're going to raise with the court that it's not particularly safe to go to prison at this time actress Felicity Huffman who also pleaded guilty served less than fourteen

What Happened to the Students Caught Up in the College Admissions Scandal?
"This week we also got an update on the college admissions cheating scandal the hot pocket Eris Michelle Jan Adams was sentenced to five months in prison for her role in the emissions cheating scandal she spent three hundred thousand dollars to help her two daughters cheat on exams and secured mission for one of them to U. S. C. and while parents are pleading guilty and not guilty in what is happening to the students wrapped up in the scandal none of them have been charged with crimes but they also face consequences in other ways for more on how the students have been affected we spoke to Kate Taylor she's a reporter at The New York Times in some cases he got into college already or take out of their colleges or have their initiative mission revoked which amounts to pretty much the same thing some of them had to take attention from college if you hadn't gotten into college at all at the time the parents were arrested me Turkish charges were brought in many cases were able to get into college or have ended up at a much laugh elite college than they were aiming for and while their parents were using a live it means try to get them at the college we don't know where they might have gotten in on their own accord if they had it all happened so Michelle Gant have her older daughter for instance he was angling to get her into your hygiene and that didn't happen she not only blushed rejected from USC they told her you can never apply again so she is now apparently going to community college so they've really had their lives upended and of course a lot of people are asked why should we feel sorry for these kids they're still very privileged and that is true at the same time I think for any young person to have your life so completely rewritten due to circumstances in other cases out of their control mostly kids didn't know what their parents were delaying you would be very difficult to cope with and it clearly gonna be something that they're gonna be processing for years to come when this was going down ms Jenna has two daughters were in junior and senior year of high school so they got banned from things like graduation and prom NEO for a young kid those things are very important not to mention people talk kids talk yes you were barred from going to school at all the school made a really interesting decision and because the school wouldn't talk to me I don't know why they did that but they said that the girl had to complete their work from home for the rest of your day couldn't come to school at all they were barred from campus which is obviously a really extreme measure to take a stand out for years said that the girls were shunned by friends and teachers so it sounds like a lost their whole social and academic world and the younger daughter ended up transferring to local public school it's a tough position for the schools as well obviously the colleges you rescind their acceptance letters all that but at the high school everybody wants to take a tough stand on cheating so I mean everybody is in a tough position when it comes to something like this what about some of the higher profile students involved obviously the list we have men and her husband William H. Macy only Felicity Huffman was in danger here she's already pled guilty went in and out of jail after just a very short time what happened to their daughter holder daughter who's a hasty we haven't had paid someone could tamper with and get her a higher score she was really hoping to get into killing our kids not firing actress apparently she had proceeded to the final round of auditions virtually art two days after her mother was arrested she flew out to New York to do the final edition after she landed she got an email saying you're no longer welcome to audition and her father William H. Macy described to the judge in a letter he wrote at the time of his life sentence saying that their daughter called them from the airport in hysterics saying please do something please do something apparently there was nothing they could do so she hasn't ended up going to college there she's still pursuing acting have gotten from bulls obviously really emotional when you get a calls on something like that so far there's been twenty parents including miss admin that have pleaded guilty and all this there's fifteen other parents including actress Lori Loughlin who have pled not guilty and they're going to appear in trial Lori Loughlin obviously one of the most high profile ones and all of this still yet to go to court and figure out exactly what's happening that's kind of the big fish everybody's waiting for she paid about between her husband five hundred thousand dollars for their daughters how was that bin for them and then also for Lori Loughlin's two daughters the daughters will put you at U. S. he ran we're looking at our husbands were charged in this case what we know is that they are no longer a student at USC we don't know if they were expelled or what exactly happened and it's not really clear what her older daughters giving her younger daughter Olivia jade who left the facility ata for library and influence circle for all staff wants to continue that career she was silent on social media for about eight months and that she resurfaced I need to in December with a very awkward somewhat painful to watch video seamlessly with bank and she really wished she could talk about what happened but legally she wasn't allowed to but she really messed her fans and it seems to have gotten largely negative reactions on YouTube and she's only posted another video since then so it's not clear if her career advancement there is going to

USC questioned whether Lori Loughlin's daughters were crew athletes 1 year before college admissions scandal
"All these people connected the college admissions scandal being accused of withholding evidence apparently prosecutors found what four hundred eighty emails back and forth they wrote in a court filing that many defendants in the case have yet to turn over discovery evidence including Lori and her husband they you know obviously the daughters were not serious athletes this whole thing yeah the more you think about it the more preposterous it was and how people who should have known better these people are running colleges for god sakes is posed have a brain they never ask questions while you begin dig around it a but people just look the other way because there's money involved its that's just it's simple straightforward bribery as the judge said the defendants to file certain motions to compel and don't agree that the government has yet complied I'm sorry these are the lawyers are saying that the lawyers have accused the federal prosecutors and holding back crucial evidence as well on both sides they're accusing each other of holding back and say come on in it's so obvious what we're now why is this taking so long when the other was of Farah what was the lady's name merry did Macy what's your name the address of Felicity Huffman yeah but that was done and over and finished in the chassis that she pled guilty and that was it so she cut herself a deal there

"Settlement gives us hope that we'll be able to make significant impact on the issue California's largest utility filed for bankruptcy in two thousand nineteen after facing more than thirty billion dollars in wildfire victim lawsuits governor Gavin Newsom is demanding a massive restructuring I'm Jim rope great report as always Jim does great work there were a lot of things in two thousand nineteen I I'll sure very quick personal story you know the college admissions scandal Felicity Huffman in her husband well there are like twenty three twenty four others sets of parents my old boss and I won't name the radio station because of our it's not like it's not public domain and there's my old boss she was one of of those people they got caught up in the and that's to send the kid to UCLA UCLA no I can see it all Harvard right could very well okay all right well let's get your calls two thousand nineteen the year in review according to what made the biggest impact of to you let's go to Todd in Connecticut Todd thank you for waiting I appreciate it very much how you doing Todd and I'm I'm doing all right I'm enjoying the show I don't know any specific names or anything so yeah can a bear with me what kind of struck me the most about this past year is that you had all these women activists and they were all upset about all men are you know violent manner dangerous it's all the bands fall all men while they are aware and they're crazy hats snapping activists and there was a woman that did a at a story a journalism story or she about these men activists saying you know men are getting hurt just as much as women are and she put this out and all of her family and friends of actor on it because she brought to light the fact that in a relationship men get hurt just as much as women and I've always known that because I've been used and abused by many of my taxes my ex wife she tried to kill me and I've had other others try to poison me your friend to me over the head with a frying pan so I mean I was just like this is a woman trying to say look man get abused just as much as women and then they attack her I I just couldn't understand how come they just don't listen to her obviously she's on their side yeah I you know I don't know generally speaking an order I've had this discussion on the radio before generally men don't report to the authorities abuse like women do for the obvious reason I guess they don't I don't want to be viewed as less than manly and all that stuff but you know the feminist movement really is is a baseless movement you know you you don't want me to hold the door open for you are you don't want me to say yes ma'am and No ma'am but at the end of the day you use that that femininity when it works for you Hey it's just it's it's baseless it's it's garbage charming how did you end up dealing with your situation well what can be interesting is that after my ex wife went crazy because I she had a massive drug problem that'll actually what I was actually taken in my ex girlfriend for many years previous let me live with her and my ex wife had no idea with this other woman lived and so basically one of my ex girlfriends became my protector no I I I nannies to escape until you know she moved off to another state and then her attention went to something else when we look I find this fascinating your protector may I ask and I don't mean to be I know it sounds kind of sexism I don't mean it to sound that way do you find it hello or own struggling here and I shouldn't I'm supposed to be words Smith do you find it difficult to protect yourself from other individuals especially women definitely because they have the upper hand if they say that you hate them the police will arrest you first they don't even they don't even take into account you know is there some kind of police report well there is there is is it's not quite as quite as simple as that I'm I have many members of my family and law enforcement in an old woman just can't simply say yeah I hit me and have no visible injuries corroborating witnesses I mean it just it's not quite that easy but I find your situation somewhat interesting I truly do yeah I would imagine two thousand nineteen probably did in fact impact you quite a bit because there were you know it was like a resurgence of of the early seventies with the women's movement all ending honestly I don't pay a lot of attention to that I mean most real women they know who they are they're securing themselves you know they like the fact that their women they like the fact that the you know their competitive smart able to do things that and meant many men can do there's some things they can't provide you select but be anybody that's got a put on now at the Regina and in March downtown and scream and at the top of their lungs you know I wonder about their mental health to begin with good call I appreciated very much two thousand nineteen the year in review as it applied to you and your family Sean in Missouri Sean thank you for waiting how you doing John thank you Rick I really like your approach to be are you do caller driven shows like I first heard you a couple years ago some for the for the guys that night and I didn't have to follow you over to Dallas drive time to the voice of reason thank you Sir thank you know what the evolution of our speech how we approach people are manners and the mode of all of it back apple degrading dysfunctional glues often times it really escalate learn to count on hearing so Booker and say the woman Harris and a lot of those senator from all why right yeah this solution all how they how they got away with attacking people and using the the the matters and they did and it didn't you know we are talk show the pundits on the talk shows they they make accusations that are just totally you know and it is an appropriate you know calling our president crater and calling the illegitimate even even are sick of house that his original L. illegitimate candidate we got victim like David hog this attacking people are actually being attacked in that school if you look back in them work you know and a sixteen year old brother number these people should be culture but not related to work and how the user's speech but the the lack of critical thinkers like we got the the few that we do have like Candice owns and Sarah Huckabee Sanders Sanders and people like that when they try to actually use reason they can attack the driven down by people that you're actually looking for a woman over there you know that you know they're the minority or or or something and they don't even care about what they're doing they they they the totally degrading to me now the whole Titanic ship of our values principles or respect and it causes the inability to a debate in reason now I know how can your function I thank you if you can't if you can't do that if you can't discuss the issue and agree to disagree at the end of the day when the dust settles if it's if it's a take no prisoners discourse if you don't agree with me you must be eliminated there's no place to go with that I I think you're absolutely spot on and I've said it many many times the level of discourse in this country cannot repeat not get any lower than this and we're most of that comes from is television news or what is laughingly referred to his nose when in fact it's nothing more than a campaign outlet for the left or the Democrats and some would say fox's for the Republicans perhaps but at the end of the day where do you get your news I mean how do you deal with it you know I'm reminded you know these politicians some of them not all but some of them are very very very good at word smithing I've had the opportunity to interview Hillary Clinton a couple of times and it's always a nightmare because you got to go through two or three days of property you can pass this new cameras that you know finally at the last time last time was in Kansas city I just said you know what all I've got to my credibility if the guy said in an instructor at the stop light doesn't believe that I'm asking the pertinent questions he's going to go to a different station so let's forget the interview well long story short we ended up being doing the interview but here's here's the word smithing part all pro pulled the curtain back and she still does it today in in does it very very well if she's asked a question that she doesn't want to answer directly in other words Hilary you know can you give us more details about you know fast and furious Sir of the Benghazi attack and we wanted to take three days and the answer begins like this well Rick I think what the American people really care about is where we're headed and twenty twenty when it comes to our diplomats abroad another words totally dismissing the question because she doesn't want to answer it and diverting into something that supposedly the American people want you see what I'm saying and that has led to a level of discourse you just can't you can't have an argument with someone you either agree with someone or you've got to be eliminated eight six six ninety rabbi as aides say I'm sorry I'm certain thinking about that interview eight six six nine zero seven thirty three thirty nine I spent a lot of time looking in my rear view mirror for blacks suburbans after that interview but I was okay I'm Rick Roberts on read on the radio with.

So as far as big stories, go heard Ron heard you telling us, I I just saw the story before we actually went on. I guess it just broke this cheating scandal story. This is crazy. Why is tell me why is this such a big deal because I guess you can't pay people to bribe people to get your kid in school. Really? Yeah. That's against the law. It's getting to be shocking news. I'll be darned. Yeah. Dell thrive bribe bribery, I think that's all you're breaking the law. Who knew? In college. Maybe we shouldn't be opening up this can of worms here. The fact that Ed bribing somebody to take test or to get you in schools is breaking the law. Well, I mean, do you want to get into it now or do you want to start with? I guess it's the biggest story. Yeah. Yeah. Let's just kick it off with this one. Because it really is. It's interesting. So there are two actresses that. You may or may not know who are involved in this scam. Among fifty people charging this massive college entrance exam cheating scandal. The two actresses are lari Laughlin who I believe was in full house. Right. That's what I hear. This is soon to be in in the biggest full big house. Felicity Huffman, Felicity Huffman was in a show called I believe desperate housewives. And she's also married or she was married. I'm not sure you have to check on that to William H Macy, gray, tactically. She's still there still is. Yeah. Because I believe she's being charged, but they they referred to her husband has her husband. They're not referring to him as William H Macy. Paid off to get his name taken out of this story. It says you're Huffman has two daughters with husband William H including Sophia who is eighteen and sixteen year old Georgia. But I believe she's been charged. But he hasn't which leads me to believe that they're not together because you would think that. No. Yeah. It's still says at least in terms of his Wikipedia page is still listed as being married to Felicity Huffman. I wonder why he doesn't charge you. She's the one who, you know, bribe. Yes. Yes. All right. So here's here's what it is. So I guess there are fifty parents and coaches charge in this plot to get kids their kids in Hollywood into schools, including Georgetown, Stanford UCLA university of San Diego USC university of Texas Wake Forest and Yale. The scheme was uncovered by the FBI and federal prosecutors in Boston involved parents paying bribes up to six million dollars to get their children into these elite schools. Wow. If I was a kid. I think I'd rather just you give me the six million. Yeah. I don't need to go to. What are you giving me six billion dollars? I'll take the six million screw the school. I'll be able to parlay that into something or just go live in ice life, a pull a Kylie Jenner. Whatever name is self made billionaire right kids start off with a little bit of money, a little seed money and move into the billionaire status. Why not most of these charges either pay to get higher SAT scores or faked an athletic resume that with the participation of the bride college coach excuse me, help the children get accepted into college. So it was a it was a two, you know, it was a bribe college coaches taking the money or the college administrators taken the money, and these rich Hollywood people. Hollywood. We'll just people at rich people out there able to I guess the word gets around in those circles that you could actually bribe, you know, college people to get your kid into a nice school, but what's the point of going to college? Anyway, the point of going to college is to get great grades. To graduate with honors to get a great job, at least guys that I know of a great job to get a hot chick to get laid. Well. At least I took think I think most people have you kind of skipped a quickstep there. It's to get a great job to make a lot of money. And then that will get you. Great job. Great job comes money in the parents, if you would have just given me the six million. I don't need the great job. I've got the money, which means the chicks, exactly exactly. You're it's a waste of time who couldn't live on six million dollars. Exactly. So I look I don't think all of them had to bribe people six million dollars. I mean, there's like I'm looking at the numbers here. I think it was like fifteen grand that this Lori Loughlin gave to somebody to Ohio. I'm sorry Huffman, Felicity Huffman, pay fifteen thousand dollars, quote, unquote, a charitable contribution to participate in this college entrance exam cheating scheme. So basically, it was like, hey, I'll give you fifteen grand. Just take care of it for me, man. I wish I could you know, I wish I knew I could write off my financial Irvine financial loans for school as as a charity. Yeah. No loans here involved in these these kids are getting paid the full rides from their parents. So does this. This case is about widening corruption of college admissions to the steady application of wealth combined with fraud. But at the end of the day the colleges get their money. They don't really care how somebody gets in. I mean, this is more of a moral dilemma than anything else, isn't it? Don't you think it's more of a moral cheated to get into look I mean, how many in this room how many in this room at a we have cheated on a test. Raise your hand cheated on a test. Go come on. Right. Right. So how do you feel about that? Now van at all. Okay. So so this is what this is. This is this is between you and your conscience. Really? I mean, the fact that you cheated to get into school that's more of a moral dilemma than an actual bribe people. But I think just based on that. It's like, okay. Well, you didn't steal from anybody. Well, maybe they technically you kept another person from getting into that school based on merit, right? If some some poor kid, you know grew up in poverty and managed to fight his way through the education system to graduate and get a ride at a prestigious school like that. And you shoved him out of the way because you're stupid kid dumb. To dominate and to privilege. Yeah. No, no. I'm all in there. And I I agree. I've just trying to figure out what the what the defense attorneys. Come up with these people. How would you what would you send somebody? What would your sentence be like for doing something? I would send them a sense the parents to go back to college. They don't graduate with honors the ten years. Give them a little taste of the see how easy it is for them in this particular case with Felicity Huffman, the daughters toward a fourteen twenty honor SAT, which was a four hundred point improvement from PSAT results with one year prior. So just that in in in general. Is enough to raise some eyebrows. Wait a second. You got four hundred points more. This is of course, the fake SAT. That was just you know, they went to don't even took it. So and in some cases, some people took it like in one case a test was administered by Proctor flown in from Tampa and told investigators that he facilitated caught cheating either. By correcting the students answers after the test or by actively assisting students during the exams hit the Proctor come in probably doing the multiple choice the kids like what do you think of this? You'll like this. And how about this one? No, no, no this one. Okay. I mean, that's how it went. That's what happened. Yeah. I think it was even that on the DL. I think it was just kinda like it's wrong answer. Let me read it in for you. Here's the answers. Here's the answers. So let's see let's see your Laughlin here. Let me see here. Like, I said, I just literally got this even review it Laughlin and Huffman agreed to play bribes totalling five hundred thousand dollars in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC crew team, despite the fact that they didn't participate in crew. Like in high school crew the crew team that in itself just has elitist written all over it. I'm on the crew team. Don't even know what that means. It's rolling. It's rolling. But rich people do. That's a real rich people had other people row for them. Why even bother rowing? That's funny. Yeah. Yeah. This is just like a particular really just opened up as a huge huge scandal. Because I guarantee you this is just the tip of the iceberg. I can't seem to find anywhere that actually talks about the. I mean, a lot of the charges seem to say, you know, the admission bribery, but none of them ever talk about like what the actual sentence would be for this. I'm sure that'll be coming. Once they you know, I don't think. I don't think it's ever happened before where there's been a big scandal like this. Well there has but not quite this big. A lot of people. It was like fifty people, parents and coaches involved in all of this and these big schools that now now now here's the thing. They got to figure out who was involved in. If the college was like like, I I'm still kind of confused like the people administering the SAT tests. They weren't from these schools. They would just proctors that were involved in getting these fake scores over to the colleges right colleges. Can't be held responsible on it. So a pair think. Sorry. I was apparently I'm trying to look this up the bribery section of this for the people that are being charged of bribing college administrators that falls under racketeering. Which can apparently you can serve up to twenty years in prison for and also have to pay fine money. So that it gets a lot more serious when you throw it under racketeering, which is normally like organized crime stuff. Right, right. They're getting into mob stuff. Now. That's like recollect stuff there. But are these two actresses working Lori Laughlin and Felicity Huffman? Are there any shows 'cause they may get kicked off their shows Ron shows? I don't know if they're working honestly did not know who either. When I was told this, right? I knew what's her name was because my kids watch your show all the full house Laughlin before a full big house. Move it to a prison. Yeah. You know, what I know somebody that actually took an SAT further friend to get him into college..

"We are back. With Felicity Huffman. We're talking about or partner William H Mace. You guys been together for a long time. Yeah. I think twenty years twenty one when are you at what point did you split up for four years? Well, I started going out with him when I was twenty two, and then we split up when I was about twenty eight so early years early years, and then we got back together when I was about thirty to hundred children's you have with other men before you got back together with that I own that. I knowledge. No, that's interesting. Yeah. Oh. Say something what hurt me if I will. Okay. All right. So now, we we talked about a desperate housewives how that was such a breakthrough for you which led to TransAmerica when you got the part for Jesper housewives. Did you know, it was gonna be a life changing job for you know, I think they made it for seventy five thousand dollars. It was one of those tiny tiny Indies that came through. My kids were really little. I'd only done the pilot of desperate and Bill actually was like on and off you wanna do this. But I read that part. And I said, I really want to do this in the wonderful Duncan Tucker wrote and directed it. And so we went off to shoot it. I mean, it was one of those skinnier teeth. You know, we had the first day de driving the camp driving the camera truck, and then one guy got drunk and lost the keys to the camera truck and went off to Mexico and really like holding their own lights. It was it was a very desperate housewives as for America's transient. Say no, I'm sorry. We shot the pilot for desperate. Yeah. Then I went and shot TransCo, Arizona and New York, and it was done, you know, for two dollars and fifty cents. And I never thought it would go anywhere. Did you get any points on that movie? Transamerica? No, I didn't even know. Lick. Tell me about American crime. That's a big that's another landmark role for you. What tell me what was your favorite part about doing that? I think watching John Ridley and how he works because he's a real artist. But he's also a real leader. So he comes onto the Cetin. It's very specific. And it's somewhat sacred. And everyone's doing their a game. I'll give you an example in the production office. You know, they line up the actors headshots on the you know, who's who? And it's embarrassing as an actor to sort of walk in the door. There's your headshot lined up with everybody else. It feels like a rogues gallery. So Tim Hutton. And I went I hate that too. So we looked up all the people that were up for our parts before they got down the list to us when we were like great. So we got their headshots and we put them up first. And then like after four or five actresses, there's mine did Tim, and it was going to be so funny. We came in the next day, and they were down and the other ones and the original ones rep, let's do it. Again. Someone didn't get the joke. So we. Did it again finally on the third day? I was talking to John about the script. And I said, you know, someone keeps taking on those pictures, and it's so funny. And he said, oh, I take those down. We're we're here to work. We heard to do serious work. That's that's now we do. I want people to come in with a sense of pride and the sense of we're here and and respect and I went oh, yes..

Sort of the tourist season and the tourists, and then you have the locals, and so it's it's like all those things you see of the towns, you're kinda townie. Do you go back there ever you folks deliver? My folks are dead but Bill and I bought the family place that why up in? So he's still have it. And you've got kids. You've done your homework is that thanks to you over there. No, no, no. This is his twisted member. What what was the cause? They don't make after school specials in a jury after school special. It was called a home run for love. Acura Benson about this young is about in the forties of this boarding house, where the father had died and the mother and the sister were, you know, taking care of people that stayed there. And then the young boy was obsessed with Jackie Robinson, and the old black caretaker sort of took the boy in hand and took him to Jackie Robinson game. It was. Sweet. Yeah. But yes, God. That was when I was fifteen you were fifteen when you did that who directed. It have no idea. I love do you. Remember, filming it? Oh, very well. And so how did you get the job? How'd you get that? First job. My good friend who this wonderful man named Ray Underwood went to high school with a couple of my older siblings. And he knocked on the door of my mom's house and Aspen, Colorado. And he said my mother's moving away. And I would like to can I pay rent? She said, no, you can't pay rent, but you can come and stay here for free. So he lived with us his last two years of high school. And then he went to Juilliard and became an actor. And he called up my mom when I was fifteen and said flick wants to act one oh chew centered LA for the summer. And so I went to lay for the summer and I got agents, and I got that job my sag flick. That's my yeah. I was called flicker before Felicity Robert Lieberman, directed it. Robert lieberman. June think think it went to temple with them. Okay. All right. Good. So and then when how'd you get the next job when was the next job? And then I was living in L A with Ray Ray and his boyfriend Juliana and her girlfriend, and I would get up in the morning and put on my uniform and go to Buckley and the dr- bus driver would come and I'd get in the bus, and she would say, don't worry, ugly girls. Get married sooner. It's really going to be okay to you. The bus driver kind of chunky and ugly and the private school yet. Buckley, the private school?.
