Donald Trump Jr. Talks About Getting Targeted by PNC Bank

"Us now is Donald Trump Jr. who's experienced his own version of cancel culture, the cancel, and then un cancellation Don welcome back to the program. Good to be with you, Charlie. How's it going, man? It's going great, great speech at cpac. Tell us about your situation in the last day and a half with PNC bank. It's very interesting. Oh, it's crazy. I mean, again, and if you think, a guy like me with a pretty big platform and a decent credit, we have MXM news. I know I've talked about it on your show. That made some friends. We put together a news aggregation app. We were sick of people not seeing important stories. Hunter Biden laptop, Wuhan lab week as a possible theory for the few years, and so we put together an app that gathers news from all over the place. We have The New York Times down there. We have left leaving stations. We have right leading stations, but we see it all. And we had an account our operating account was at PNC bank. And Taylor by the way, who you know, and partner in the daily goes to check our operating account one morning and there's nothing in it. He calls me. He's like, we got bad news. I think we got hacked on this whole $750,000 out of the operating account. He calls the bank immediately after speaking to me. Oh, yeah, sorry. There's a FedEx on the way to you with a cashier's check for the entire mount. We decided to close out your account. No, no reasoning. Didn't even bother to give us a phone call. And this is PNC bank. I mean, this is a major national bank. Just decided that I guess someone who is willing to show people both sides of the news, not even writing our own, that that was enough. So I got pretty upset about that. You know, got on social a bunch of people from the maga movement and big conservatives started tweeting about it. You were one of those stories. So I appreciate that because we have to highlight the attack that is going on on conservatives on a daily basis.

Caller: Corporations in Memphis Must Support Officer Redd's Family

"Morning, Todd. Thanks for having me on this morning. I appreciate it. This is just the public personal community here. This is corporate. And I'm calling right now. I just want to issue a challenge, Todd, to the corporate community in Memphis, FedEx, true green, International Paper. These organizations and Fox 13 news actually, ABC, or whoever it is, whatever their call letters, I don't even watch it. To help with this, to make donations and let's get the corporate community involved. I challenge them to make donations to help with this officer services and funeral. I don't expect them to do that because that's the mentality. I can't even get Fox 13 to call me back about my foundation. Stroke foundation. Well, we're not here to talk about that, Bill. We're here to talk about this police officer. And I will say, and I will say this, and I will say this, that is a brilliant idea, is for the local businesses to get involved. Maybe a local funeral home might be willing to cover the cost of the funeral. I just think it's appalling that the city has done nothing here, and the city is just and especially after the whole thing we've just come out of with the tyrese Nichols case where it's been walled to wall press conferences statements from every city leader every preacher, every race baiting agitator in the city. They've been coming out and grandstanding and blow vating in front of the cameras, and then when you have a dead cop, all of a sudden, everybody's close in the doors, they're closing the blinds and they're staying inside their homes. That angers me and it outrages me and we can not allow this family to suffer like this. We've got to step in and I think that's a brilliant idea and those of you may be in the Memphis area called these call these big companies. And get them involved. Bill

NYC Illegals Refuse to Leave Hotel, Demand Better Living Conditions

"Crazy stories going on in the world right now. The craziest has to be illegals in New York City refusing to leave their cushy hotel because they want better quality housing. And the city of New York is like, well, what are we going to do? They don't want to leave. They don't want to leave the hotel. These are all single men who were told they had to leave their hotel rooms at the west side hotel in hell's kitchen in midtown Manhattan. In order to make room for migrants with families, including women and children. They were going to have the men be relocated to a temporary shelter at a cruise line terminal in Brooklyn, New York. They ain't going. Doesn't meet their standards. It does. This housing is not good enough for these illegals. They want to stay in the hotel. And so they're just not leaving. And of course, New York being New York, they don't know what to do because they don't want to look like they're anti migrant. What are you going to do? You can't be mean to them. This is a little bit like the Tyree Nichols story. This awful beating death of this 29 year old FedEx driver in Memphis, all we've heard for years is that black Americans are incapable of racism. You can't be racist if you're black, whites have all the privilege. Only white people are racists.

What Led the Rage to Arrest and Beat Tyre Nichols?

"You know, I'm asking an inevitable question that I feel guilty about. The inevitable question that I feel guilty about, I must ask, but I'll tell you why I feel guilty about it because it feels like I'm blaming the victim here. And I don't want to blame the victim. I have nothing but sympathy and sadness over the death of 29 year old Tyree Nichols, like, I think almost everybody in the world does. This is one issue where finally we've seen a little bit unified. We're all disgusted and angry and sickened over the beating death of this Memphis FedEx driver. But I can't stop wondering what caused these police officers to collectively fly into a blind rage. I hope they stomp his ass what? For what? What did he do? Reckless driving he didn't turn his turn signal on? What did he did he coached through a stop sign? Was he taunting them? And listen, the reason I feel guilty about it is again, it sounds like one of those, well, what did she do to get the beating that she received from her boyfriend or her husband? You know what I mean? I don't want to make it sound like he did anything that deserved getting beaten to death because he didn't. But what in the world led to this kind of fury, this kind of violence, this kind of rage, I don't get it. I do not understand this at all.

Memphis Police Release Graphic Video of Tyre Nichols Beating

"And of course speaking of the awful violence, an act of awful violence, the video's depicting the deadly beating by 5 Memphis police officers that ended the life of Tyree Nichols, there's no question that it's horrifying, there's no question that it is, again, shocks the conscience, there is nothing that man should have done that would result in his death, I have absolutely no idea why these 5 officers went into this kind of a violent rage, it was something right out of a horror movie. They just took turns. Kicking, beating, pummeling him. Over a traffic stop? You got to be kidding me. And believe me, if there was more to it, we'd have heard it by now. If this guy was some nefarious drug lord or something, I mean, we'd have known by now by all accounts he was a soft spoken young man who loved photography and skateboarding and was a FedEx driver. And lived with his mother who he adored, who he called out for as he was being beaten. Literally to death.

"Murder charges have been lodged against the 5 police officers fired in Memphis after the brutal beating of a black motorist who died earlier this month. All 5 former officers are charged with second degree murder, aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping, official misconduct, and official oppression in connection with the death of 29 year old Tyree Nichols. The traffic stop was caught on video, which hasn't yet been released, but Shelby county prosecutor Steve mulroy said earlier this week. I was distraught. Attorney Ben crump says the family saw the video of Nichols a FedEx worker and father, being beaten for three minutes, shocked pepper sprayed and restrained when he was pulled over for a traffic stop near his home. Memphis on High Alert Following Nichols Investigation

"The 5 police officers late Friday were fired from their jobs by the Memphis police department. All of them had been on the job for just a few years, so you had 5 basically rookie cops doing a working a sting operation in a very dangerous part of Memphis. Now the young man who was who was who was killed, he is an employee at FedEx, a big time skateboarder to our knowledge did not have a criminal record. He was pulled over on a traffic violation. Now, the reporting is that these officers were in an unmarked car, and they were not wearing uniforms. And Memphis right now, I will tell you, we are dealing with a massive carjacking crisis. People are getting carjacked and shot all over the place, and it's happening everywhere, including the wealthier parts of town. So there was some sort of a confrontation between these officers not in uniform, and mister Nichols, the mister Nichols ran, they caught up with him, and that's when apparently the beating happened. And that was back on January the 7th. And the city has been hemming and hawing about releasing all of the footage. And the city is on edge. I can tell you that right now, they are bracing for what could be very, very, very bad night for the city of Memphis. People are on edge. They're just on edge. They don't know what's going to happen. I mean, God forbid antifa decides to get on the interstate and come over here. By and large, the people of Memphis are peaceful, it's a violent town, but the people are peaceful. So I can't imagine that we're going to have the city burned to the ground like they did in Minneapolis, but nobody knows. But I can tell you that everybody's ready. For whatever happened. So all you people in Memphis, UB safe tonight. And if you don't have to be anywhere, I would recommend just staying home tonight. And just play it safe.

I arrived home with a little FedEx envelope from Verizon saying Nancy wants your phone records and your why phone records and your children's phone records and we're going to give them. I filed an injunction 12 months later, they've dropped it. Nancy's given up. What's going on guys? They are worried about the same tactics being used against them. They know that this is the beginning of the anti ship anti Pelosi tactics. And I hope the Republicans have the cojones to do what the Democrats because I go back to the independent council law. And everybody loved it when it was being used against the Republicans. And then Bill Clinton took office and it was used against the Democrats. And you know what? It was just a miracle up there on the hill. They decided not to renew it when it had run its course. Let me ask you, can you imagine the GOP after January putting in a subpoena for John Brennan's phone records? Or someone else, a former cabinet official from the Trump administration? I think they should. But can you imagine it? I want to imagine it. I hope it will happen. And if they don't do it, they're going to disappoint a lot of people and they're going to show they don't have the strength of character necessary to do the job. This isn't about taking depositions and bringing people up. That's a part of the process. But before you do that, you need records to cross examine people about. Phone records, emails. They need to do exactly what they did to the Republicans. Just like the independent counsel law. They have to hurt the Democrats as much as the Democrats were willing to hurt Republicans. It's hard to do, but I think it's something that's Christians we gotta pray for this horrible person and he should suffer whatever civil penalties there are. You bet. He said doesn't really change. Jonathan Gilliam: Did the FedEx Driver Target the 7-Year-Old Girl?

"On Fox News channel, Eric Shawn, interviewed former FBI special agent Jonathan Gilliam, talking about the murder of this little beautiful girl in Boyd, Texas. Listen to this exchange that maybe shed some light on why these acts of evil or at least how it occurs anyway. When they hear the little Athena down the block, you know, suddenly missing, as she comes home from school, is with her stepmother, her stepmother's making dinner and she at some point, perhaps went outside of the front yard, where she had an interaction with this FedEx driver. Do we know, you know, any information about that details on that and why this time went by before the stepmother realized that little girl was gone. I saw one report and I didn't see it again that they had had a little bit of an argument, you know, her in the 7 year old. And so she left out of the house. Now that happens every day all day around the country in the world. And unfortunately, this predator was outside waiting. I would suspect when they look into this. So one of two things probably happened that the FedEx driver drove by and saw her and took a target of opportunity or he was there earlier or around that area before and picked up on this young girl. So there's a possibility that that occurred, I think we've seen that in the past with these types of predators. And interestingly enough, when I was looking at the FedEx page a minute ago about what it takes to become a contractor there, there are some things that they have some hoops they have to jump through. But one of the things that surprised me is that if you have a felony or any other record or you're on probation or have been on parole, they're okay with that as long as it's been a year since those things passed.

Police found the little girl's body, southeast of Boyd, Texas, where she lived. The driver, a 31 year old, named Tanner Lynn Horner, is sitting in jail right now, being charged with capital murder and aggravated kidnapping, he has apparently admitted to the crime. He's confessed. Now, I'm not going to compare the abduction and murder of a little 7 year old child. To those who are complaining about a Christmas production at a church in north Texas. I know, I know it's not the same thing. I'm not comparing them. But in a way, aren't they sort of similar stories? There's so much evil. Isn't it, I mean, obviously it's an unspeakable evil to target a child like this, and I have to admit, I obsess over why these things happen. 31 year old guy, he's a FedEx delivery guy. How many people in Texas probably encountered him in a normal day to today interaction? Oh, here's your president. Here's your package, mister Smith. Oh, thanks, young man. And now he's in jail. "The car coach, Lauren fix. Welcome back to America first. Well, thanks for having me. Lots going on and I'm really, really excited. I was able to get you some safe breaks put on your vehicle. 'cause those drum brakes. Yeah, a little bit spongy. And when it's raining, not so exciting. So I've got disc brakes all round. There is my baby, there is my 66 Mustang. Last thing, and I'm not going to touch it, some period correct rims. And then maybe some AC, I might put some AC in because it gets a little hot and sticky here in the swamp. All right. Enough about me and my pony, although I do need people to go to my website and tell me a name. I need a name and not Sally. Okay, I'm not doing the stupid Mustang Sally. I need a female name, go to said gorka dot com and send me a little message that said gorka dot com. All right, you've been sending me some fascinating stuff. First things first, it's not cars. Right now he's allegedly negotiating. But what is the impact going to be if we have a rail strike Lauren in America? Oh, it's going to be huge. Now I know everyone's talking about what you're literally looking at billions of dollars of losses. Because everything goes cars get transported from the manufacturing plant. To the sub area where it then goes to your dealer. So that means good luck getting cars. We can't get them now. That means all the components, tires, metal, just think of everything that you need gets from point a to point B from the West Coast to the east coast, usually by rail, then it's transported to a diesel powered rig and then from there to the final destination in the last mile to your store or to wherever you're going. And that includes like Amazon packages, U.S. Postal Service, FedEx. That new planes, but they also use rail. And without rail, we're in a lot of trouble. And we've been using it for years, plus passengers, Amtrak, which is owned by the government as well. They can't seem to organize the postal service or Amtrak. But the fact is without diesel and there's a shortage of diesel and without the railroad system we have a supply chain that nightmare.

So here's DHL's Pearson with Bloomberg's francine LaCroix and Tom Mackenzie. Releasing the global trade Atlas for the very first time in conjunction with our decade long study in the level of global connectedness. And the summary of the global trade Atlas is that there is more faster, broader and changing. And I just talked to that for a couple of minutes there. There's more trade than there was pre-pandemic. The trade this year and next year is forecasts to grow faster than pre-pandemic levels. The broadness talks to the nature of emerging economies and how they're getting a bigger slice of the pie. And the changing is the one I'm particularly interested in is the fact that the emerging economies story is now firmly built on quality and not just necessarily quantity that it might have been a decade ago. They're taking the benefits of connecting us, but taking the benefits of innovation, they're taking the benefits of digitalization, putting into the pot and making very precise and high-tech and innovative equipment that they're then exporting to the rest of the world. And the catalyst and the accelerant of all that and it comes quite clearly through the study as ecommerce, which is now into its sort of 7th or 8th year of quite stratosphere. It was precipitated by the pandemic. When you look at the supply chains in Europe, because of these higher energy costs because of rationing in Germany, but also other countries. Are you going to see some of this components that maybe used to be bought in Europe, move elsewhere? So this is it for further pressure on these supply chains. I think that the supply chain supply chains have been built up on efficiency and economics. There's a little bit of some diversity required in those supply chains in terms of some clear evidence of China plus one and China plus two. And I think the nature of people's supply chains is dictated to a little bit by some of those rising costs, but the one of the other things that the study absolutely confirmed and the global connectedness did the same is that the nature of long distance trade, the kilometers of distance transverse by trade is basically 5000 or 5000 plus kilometers, which it was a decade ago. So that great sort of east west trade route is still very much in place. And that delivers upon the requirements of efficiency and economics, which is what companies want to take their products to market at the most marketable cost despite any levels of inflation caused by fuel energy or anything else. John, you touched on ecommerce and the growth of that part of the business, particularly when it comes to DHL. I'm just thinking there's a couple of big events coming up shopping events, a lot of that will be done online, of course, whether it's Christmas or Chinese New Year or Black Friday. To what extent is the logistics business prepared for that is logistics, the logistics industry, is it over the struggles and the strains that we saw during the pandemic? Yeah, so I think that's a great question. You know, what is peak season going to be look like? And our people are ready for it. We've spent the last two and a half years finding more aviation assets that we could put into our network. In fact, we've added 80 or 90 new aircraft into our fleet since the last two years. And we've needed every single one of them. Capacity capacity capacity. That gives lift that gives quality and that allows us to be prepared for peak season. There is always a hockey stick for peak season, which is divided by October 1 for DHL express the elevation of the hockey stick this year is completely unknown and whether consumers start buying again rather than browsing. But what I can tell you is that every single merchant has started trading with us during the pandemic when we had that three years of growth in three months is still with us trading at much lower levels. So the sort of nascent customers are ready to uptick again. But what the peak season really is like we don't know. So how worried are you about inflation and actually does it mean that people will go to stores instead of shipping or that also some of your customers will have to go bust? No, I think global trade, you know, and the demand is proven to be very resilient, you know, from our point of view, it puts pressure on the supply chain, fuel cost, which we have a natural mechanism of recovering that in terms of our fuel search index does put pressure on shipping. But people have moved over to express transportation for reliability of movement for consistency of service quality. And for most of all, consistency of pricing in that our customers only hear from us once a year in January and then the prices are very stable and structured for the balance of the year and they appreciate that in their planning very much. And that was John Pearson, the CEO of DHL worldwide, with Bloomberg's francine LaCroix and Tom Mackenzie. And coming up, how much inflation is

"So back in the day, I started a I used to work for a FedEx. I worked there as a manager and then I just got tired of the hustle and bustle. I decided to start a business at one point I started a janitorial business later on. I added on I started a landscape business and I can remember having one client and landscape business when I first, I mean, this was a long time ago. And this guy was really nice. He was a black gentleman and Christian gentleman. Nice guy. The pig was pretty good. And I can recall doing certain projects for him. My brother and I at the time, my brother worked with me at the time and we were doing some project work for him. And I can remember, I took liberty because of things that he had said, he wanted. I took liberty and going the extra mile. Patting myself on the back, but this was gonna cost him a little bit more. Not much more, but a little bit more. Now I remember him, I was the eager to see his reaction because, I mean, this thing just looked phenomenal. It was a bomb, all this kind of stuff. I did some landscape design, install all this kind of stuff, right? And so I'm thinking, hey man, this guy is going to love this. It didn't really cost a much. He had no problems, doling out the money before. And then I remember his reaction. He came and he looked at it and, you know, he thought it looked nice, but in then his response was, hey man, let me share this with you. Just as this was an older guy speaking to a younger buck at the time. Still went behind the ears. And he said, you know, don't spend other people's money. Don't spend other people's money. This is something that I probably would have gone with down the line, but not right now, because it's not what I budget it for, so don't spend other people's money. Remember that. Never spend other people's money.

And we're gonna continue to increase that selection going forward and looking for the rest of the year You know we probably won't be back to historical turns that we normally would see and that's again because we're very focused on increasing the selection for free style That being said. I think by the time you know in the back half of the year. We're targeting more. That fortifies to five i'm turns basis but again it's very dependent on this election. We bring in. So i'm gonna keep an eye on this one Some this might be the only time in history that having a lot of inventory was really good for business. Because you just can't get product to sell as the only time history the only time lately because of the problems shipping in the world. But we'll see asian extra down. So they reported quarterly numbers And the numbers were you know pretty good. I mean you know the very strong demand very strong pricing conditions for them. A really good has been a longtime revenue a twenty two billion dollars fourteen percent. You think that'd be a really good thing this company but their prophets fell amuse operating income because a lot of Weird things come in their income statement below that but operating income fell from one point six billion a year ago to one point. Five billion this time around And they're already margins of course obviously declined from eight point two percent of six point eight percent so operating margins more revenue and yet prophets falling substantially and. They just didn't do a great job. Managing inflation in their business and There other costs with not just labor but they had a nine percent cost growth. If you if you take out labor cost. That was worrisome. Not least because they're going into their big season when they've got to hire a lot of people now. They think that they will be able to hire all of the people that they need. Ninety thousand people in the fourth quarter in the fourth calendar quarter Because that's what they need to get through the holidays even though every company is telling us it's hard to forget raising pay. Yeah you gotta raise pay but just getting. The people is really hard. Ninety thousand people were all in the. "Why the products rub a little bit less than the services where we're actually down so really the subscription business looking at the all the products that adobe is offering you look at the creative cloud their document cloud business which which is designed around like like sign edges and and helping their clients being able to to continue to offer like like docu sign. Kind of businesses are solutions. That was really impressive. Up thirty one percent year year almost five hundred million dollars. They're they're they're science. Traction continues to grow with people using this system so we need to be able to sign documents. You can do it right in the document cloud. If you're if you're a subscriber to document cloud as an adobe an adobe client so overhaul you just look at this business i mean. It's a three hundred billion dollars. Business they have. They have plenty of cash not very much debt. Gross margins almost ninety percent chris operating margins above thirty five percent. You have a stock that makes a lot of money. They buy back a lot of stock from using their free cash flow the generate to be able to lower the share count which drives a lot of the earnings per share growth in overall twenty percent. Kind of top line growth more than twenty percent probably on the inside long-term continues to be very attractive and very well positioned to serve clients that continue to move more and more to this creative space so architects designers businesses. Anyone that kind of utilizes all of those. Those solutions that adobe offers like like photoshop they just continues to be a winner in that space. And it's a wonderful business very solid at the price is probably a little bit stretched ahead of it. I'm owner very happy owner to be it and it continues a fall under in a little bit. I be a buyer. I think that is probably why we're seeing or at least part of why we're seeing the drop off today. Is that unlike fedex. Adobe has just been on such a run for so long. it's not at an all time high but it's pretty close to it so you look at the valuation and you see how adobe has essentially enter the territory that some companies get to where you're going to need near perfect or perfect results for the stockton. Move up yeah. I think that's right. Chris especially at this size they make these. They make healthy acquisitions. They bought they bought a company called mark marchetto to to to build out their commerce business which again continues to compete against the likes of of you know shop affi- and those kinds of organizations that are continued to to build out that very sticky ecosystem across a creative landscape and so when it comes to things like analytics and marketing for your business and advertising. That's kind of the area where adobe is moving more into and they make these little acquisitions to be able to continue to to solidify all the great innovation that comes inside their own organization and a healthy balance of a really nice software company. That certainly has high expectations. But but over time they've really been able to deliver against those and again just looking at the financial picture newbies. Build is pretty impressive. The stock of the day is stitch fix.

"National hiring day on september. Twenty third. so if you're looking for some work and look interested in fedex timber. Twenty third could be your day to hire the to help hire those ninety thousand additional positions ahead of the peak. So look at the long-term chris on this. Here's a story for fedex. They still expect shipment volumes per year to drive to increase about ten percent over the next five years. So you have a business. That's has a market cap of sixty seven billion. They have a lot of debt of thirty six billion on on on the balance sheet. Seven billion in cash. You have a company that has an enterprise value of nearly one hundred billion there. They had the prices. Sales is only one point. One price to earnings is about thirteen times with a five year. Eps growth rate of about ten percent with a dividend yield of one point two percent and the stock. That's fallen gosh. Fifteen twenty percent of the last three months so there's not really a lot of surprises in this. I don't think we've seen these shortage and this is really acutely hitting fed exit also probably ups. I think it probably would hit. Hit a company like amazon. That has gosh massive logistics network. They're building out. So we do see. These cost pressures building up. Fedex is just announce that they're going to increase their some of their some of their shipping costs. Or across the fedex express. Fedex ground fix home delivery the rates increase by almost six percent in fedex freight will increase between six and eight percent. So they're going to try to offset some of these costs with some higher shipping shipping rates to help to help grow and offset some of these. Some of these costs that they're feeling so overall. I think it's it's you're not. There's not too many surprises. I think with fedex and it could just be a one of those stocks you just kinda just come to wait and see and and i'm not. I'm not jumping into the stock now But like you know if the if the earnings picture and the the the price continues a fall and might be a little more attractive especially if you're interested in those companies that have a yield of dividend yellow above above one percent adobe third quarter profit and revenue were both solidly higher than wall street was expecting but shares of the software giant down. Three percent of their revenue was nearly four billion dollars in the quarter. That's a record. Oh gosh chris up. Twenty two percent for the year the the the the earnings pictures of very healthy in the digital media which is their largest business was up twenty three percent year over year. They exited the quarter with almost twelve billion in annual recurring revenue subscription. Business which is really driving. The bulk of of adobe of revenues and their cash flow was up twenty four percent at three point..

"The streaming services in the coming quarter but did also highlight some areas of strength including the theme parks saying they quote like the recovery. We're seeing in that bookings at the parks increase between the fiscal third and fiscal fourth quarter also noting momentum around cruise ship bookings saying that. They are higher in the second half of next year than they are in the first half hills said they'd be interested in the opportunity around sports betting that could be another growth driver for disney for the stock did and the day down four percent on that streaming subscriber warning. Elissa julia thank you. Julia borsen so based on what julie said. This really sounds like a testament to what disney's valuation is made of. I mean he said all the right things about the other parts of the business even through in a little bit of sports betting interests which would have gotten investors all excited before guy but here we are down four percent because streaming is not panning out to what it's supposed to be in the near term driver the gave them that valuation is now obviously starting to slow a little bit now all the sudden valuation which didn't matter appears to matter and this is quite frankly you go back and listen to some of the tom. Rogers has said over the last six nine months. Sorta lining up with that. All that said the made low was down to one sixty nine. We traded down there. Today bounced a couple of bucks so one sixty nine issue line in the sand if we were to break their on any other bad news or if the market were sort of not cooperate that one fifty level which i believe was the prior all time high and i'm looking back i think it was like december of two thousand one thousand nine hundred that gets into the crosshairs very quick so disney in my opinion technically speaking at a critical level. Here one seventy. Yeah you think it's critical him. I was going to point out that the chart bothers me a lot more than the headline the fact that if you actually see it break through the two hundred. This is really the first time it's treated through. Let's see where we go. We've had a couple dances there. But also you have this cluster. Where you've got some of the shorter term in medium-term moving averages moving down across you could say bearcroft and you could say what you want. But the competitive landscape especially around folks like apple and amazon are the ones that have unlimited basically budget to throw at this at a time. When the kovic resurgence in terms of production delays. Big deal that. That's not your issue The valuation disney has been an issue. It's never mattered for net flicks on some level although netflix until recently has struggled but really has had a relative value break out to disney Don't like the timing of this announcement referring to just a little bit of noise is something that can be interpreted a lot of ways. But it's not a great headline karen. At what point do you think disney is worth taking a look at the guy. This is the engine driving it so it wasn't the profitability engine. Driving it right. It costs a lot of money to build the streaming business that they have. It was more the future of it now. I it's interesting that disney also has a supply chain issue in that the delta variant is prevented them from having the production That they wanted i. It's it's interesting to me. it's not quite there. This is the kind of stock if it was built on a future value much later. This tape isn't quite that but it is disney. it does deserve a premium. If it does come in. I'll take a look but it's i i'd like to see. Can i go back to guy and ask if it breaks that whereas if you break that one sixty nine we're going die. Where's it going. So i think one fifty and you go back to prior time high thing was thanksgiving or or early december. Two thousand nine hundred stock traded up to one fifty and then failed so past resistance become support so i would say below one sixty nine and i think that one fifty level is smack in the crosshairs their k. Fine nine all right. We're here to serve coming out. We're all over the drop in bitcoin. The crypto was.

"The company raised guidance saying it may hit profitability this quarter. Here's dr cadre shot. He earlier today on. Cnbc gross bookings level are thirty. Five to forty percent above the ipo And we are very clearly on the path to profitability in the second quarter. We really leaned into supply. Especially in the united states to reinvigorate our driver base and grow our driver base in the us and we're seeing that now the benefits of that early investment in q. three the business in terms of volumes. We had our best week ever Last week the service in general search levels are coming down. eta's are at their best Levels since the beginning of the years the service itself is getting better. Okay so uber is in on the action to dan. I mean lift already hit this metric in terms of profitability the selected profitability. You metric that these two rideshare companies have chosen on. What do you make of the story. Yeah i just don't think that you're in it for profits in twenty twenty one or twenty twenty two if you look at consensus estimates especially in uber. They're still calling for a big gap net income loss next year. And that's on a twenty bucks billion dollar revenue base so to me. You know the stock was down a little more than thirty percent from its all-time highs. It had evaporated the entire move from the vaccine announcement back in november. Twenty twenty here and i think the timing is right to get out there and get fast and loose with that profitability sorta term. I just think there's a lot of investors out there who have a very defined understanding what they think. Prophets are in the stock market. I don't think that's exactly what this rideshare. Profitability speaks to fast and loose. Those are damning war and not a surprise coming from you. Actually but karen does that bother you. In terms of this adjusted of prophet metric that the companies choose to use. Are we talking about like either. Back in that in the tech bubble. Yeah and don't get me started on stock-based compensation and how that's just sort of. I don't know sort of pixie. Dust doesn't really count. So i agree with dan. The story is not about. The valuation is not about getting into profitability. This calendar year or not. It is amazing. The stocks been public. I think to change years. It came at forty five. A lot has happened since then. Some of which is terrible. They did a good job. Ubereats is interesting. I think he's a great ceo. It's just for me. The valuations not not. Not long uber. Quick would you rather ten. This is gonna. this is something. i've never done this pairing over jordache. Oh my goodness. And i'm going to play by the rules. Uber and while. I think we still the jury's out on profitability. The stock was down forty percent going into this Aka that they filed and the fact that they say services get better. It had to get better. I think at some point if i take new york city as an example. There's an essential risk even for rideshare even though we know it's supposedly transportation as a service way it goes nothing's affordable nothing's available so this driver supply issue very very important. Let's see where we go. I think people are figuring other things out while they can so the stock. No one's valuing it on a profitability. Eps anytime soon. It's a bombed-out stock relative to where we stood even just february of this year. And i think a lot of bad news in it. I think i think it's got more room to move higher. We're just getting started here on.

"We mentioned lower in the after hours session. Let's get to frank calling with all the details. Frank there there melissa extent about four percent after mixed earnings revenues. A beep but a big miss for profit. Eps more than fifty cents below estimates higher labor cost is the cost ceo. Fred smith spelled it all out in the earnings. Release calling about fifteen minutes. Here's we sit and release. Operating results were negatively affected by an estimated four hundred and fifty million dollar year-over-year increase in cost due to constrain labor market which impacted labor availability resulting in network inefficiencies higher wage rates and increase purchase transportation expenses purchase transportation. That's largely hiring contractors to run the ground network that handles residential ecommerce and those numbers. You can see revenues up nine percent but then the cost rising double digits for both salary and the rentals of equipment. Those inefficiencies really hitting margins across the board margins were above eight percent a year ago fedex also lowering both top and the bottom line of its range. Fords profit guidance. Right now you're seeing shares down just about four percent. Ups also trading lower right now. Both of them underperforming the snp over the past three months on concerns. That labor cost are growing while e-commerce is slowing down. Melissa beco are frank. Thanks so much. Let's trade fedex and for that we gotta go to karen first and foremost karen this quarter so little disappointing on a frank highlighted. What it was cost and labor shortages and needing to be less efficient by outsourcing. And so that's that's frustrating. But i'm sort of surprised. It's not like the stock had a super frothy multiple going into this right at a traded down for weeks. It seems so you know. They lowered their guidance by about the little bit. More tiny bit more than the amount that they missed by and yet the multiple came in. So i you know. It seems overdone to be clearly have been wrong about this one for a couple of months. I just think that one thing. I would want to hear the call and i listened to it after the show is okay. They talk about all the problems that they have with efficiency labor. All of that. I think they also may be mentioned. Some surcharges for fuel. Which is a pleasant of minus. But i wanna hear is getting better. Are they able to address that. Can they become more efficient the freight margins which is to business those were very very good. Ground again disappointing. All that said though. I mean a twelve multiple on this current year's earnings. This is the first quarter of the fiscal year. That seems low to me. That seems very low. So i'm surprised the market Much but i want to hear the call. Here is the headline that stuck to me which may partially address. What karen was asking in terms of whether or not these increased costs would continue. The headline is conditions during the first quarter were more challenging than anticipated and expected to extend longer. obviously investors. Want a little more detail than that but guy. What are your thoughts. Well got to pay people more for them to work. It's very hard then. Six months later. Say oh by the way we're paying you less now. So that's pretty sticky number one. The other thought i have. And this is just a stylistic thing. I'm not certain why. And maybe this'll be addressed on the call they chose yesterday at four fifteen to announce price increases and then obviously dropped this bomb on us today right. But you know fedex express. I'm just looking at it. I mean that's half of their revenues and the operating margins. There were an unmitigated disaster. Now i- power-pitch this sucker when it was trading. I think to ninety five or so many months ago and maybe went up for a day and it's been pretty brutal ever since obviously the ups news view months go didn't help either. What well to forty better hold because that was basically the low. We made back in february. That's you're sorta line in the sand but there's really not a lot to like here and it speaks to a much bigger problem that obviously we talk about all the time with the fed. Read about transitory or not. We'll say fedex says they're wrong by the way the calls about nineteen minutes and we'll keep on top of the story. Keep you posted on all the developments meantime coming up chairs at disney.

I think the us fundamentals are good shape. Hey tom it's karen. Thanks for being on so turning to the us fundamentals. I mean even though the market's not off that much we had a lot of sectors. Dan was saying that. Really you know commodities. Really getting hit industrials financials. We're if you're bullish where of the sectors what are you like. We've been looking at this sector relative strength recently. We're going to talk about that tonight. And i would say it. Looks like the markets actually trying to decide what's going to be a battleground because i think fang isn't as strong as as it looks and think cyclicals like industrials and financials and you know generally domestically oriented companies are actually holding pretty well so i think that this is a time where the market is waiting. Investors are waiting for the market to tell them where the strengths going to be. "The stock rally more than eleven percent. Today as the ride hailing giant upsets guidance and says it could turn a profit as soon as this quarter. We're going to drive into the trade straight ahead but first we start off with a failure to bounce stocks giving up early gains finish the day. Lower this of course follows yesterday's massive sell off the s&p five hundred is now down. Four straight session so what. Today's failure to bounce telling you about where we are in the market right now guy. Sounds like a matthew mcconaughey movie their moms who might wanna go to the google machine and check that out. Why wax poetic. Karen said it. Last night she was hoping for flush on the open she with by that flush. She got the exact opposite pretty much. And i know having spoken to her today but i'm sure she was somewhat dismayed and probably anticipated this. What does it say. Well you know again. I don't think we're gonna collapse here. But i do think that forty one hundred level that we've talked about a number of times and the s&p five hundred is in the crossers. I guess the good news is today is saw the vix back up a bit. But quite frankly you know you still in the mid twenties which i guess is concerning this fedex announcement which we will talk about is not going to help either and i still think this further room to the downside. Which again i will say. I think is a good thing. If you're long-term bullish or dismayed. Karen firemen men at the failure to bounce yesterday night. You said you had a shopping list. Would you hesitate to deploy. The shopping was tomorrow given the action that we saw today. I really was hoping for that. Big moosh down. I would much rather buy things lower than higher so daylight today. I did nothing. This is sorta disappointing. I like to see. I don't know and and the rally sort of faded by the end guy said you know. I don't know that that will help. We will get to that. So i'm not a buyer right now. I kinda wanna see what happens. I feel like the grand thing isn't really going to be a contagion that we'll see in fact i see. Us credit distress credit buyers going in and buying ever grabbed that sort of interesting to me just as voyeur. Not not as investor there. But so nothing for me to buy today. I'd like to buy things lower. I'd rather not buy them on a balance. So that's a little dismaying and disappointing guy. Had it exactly right. Dan era with guy in the forty one hundred train for the five hundred. Oh so would you have more conviction in that today and what you were there. Any or anything under the hood of the markets. I mean sort of unchanged from yesterday's closes not that exciting but there's a lot of movement underneath there was like karen i was looking to see how the market would open and then how it would act off opened up and then failed almost immediately and it really chopped around for most of the day and i suspect if you get to that forty one hundred. It's not going to be in a straight line. You're going to have one step forward two steps back a little bit. I guess the next stop would be the july low when the delta variant was really starting to push out some consumer and some enterprise plans as it relates to spending and that was about forty two thirty down there so maybe we get there. The fed meeting tomorrow and the presser really does throw a bit of a monkey wrench in there if they want to maintain a certain level of credibility as it relates to the minutes from the last meeting. I think that about face. Because of the stock market volatility over the last few days would be a very bad thing. But i'll just say this male. I think we had a strategy. I honestly all these days kind of mix together here last night on the show. Who was talking about the interesting conundrum that we might be faced with as we head into the fall that we're gonna decelerating. Gdp growth in just some economic data but accelerating earnings growth. And if you look at tonight. And we're gonna talk about fedex and we're gonna talk about adobe that might not exactly be the case and that could be the exact setup from a fundamental standpoint where we are misaligned where the price action is of equities date right now at this current wayne. And we're going to know that in the next few weeks is we get to the close q. Three and we start seeing possible pre-announcements for q. Three q. four. I mean the fed meeting. Timing is very interesting tim in that. We're sort of between earning season. We're sort of on the precipice of the next. We had this ever graham thing looming and we don't exactly know if you read what smp says versus what city says versus ola. It's sort of all over the map as to whether or not. There's a belief that beijing would actually step in or not. I don't know if that makes a difference in the end but that tells you where we are in terms of of the thinking on this and how it plays out. Well we know. The fed doesn't need a whole lot of stretch to to wonder. To what extent did they see. Systemic risks coming from ever grand and and you know what they might have to consider as they evaluate tapering etc. I don't think we're getting anything tomorrow. I think we were not getting anything tomorrow before. Ever grant became the front page news. It's been news and the feds aware of ever grand. They have to be going into this meeting from two months ago. But i do think that markets wanted to believe on some level perversely that that a market volatility contagion factors could be things that would keep the fed. Even that much more on. Hold and i i think the price action in the volatility that we have for the last couple of days is nothing more than what we've described it as a market that came in to september at all time highs as as behave almost exactly like it did in september third of twenty twenty. And so if you think about the dynamics that have just been discussed dance talking about earnings. Maybe as good as they're going to get Whether that's Savita from bank of america. Whether that's mike. Wilson from from morgan stanley. They've all talked about this. This is a dynamic that i think we were expecting normalize. Earnings are not great for this mark. Even though it's where we wanted to be a year and a half ago so look Today's frustrating if we all wanted to package this thing nicely margin. Monday turns to turn around tuesday and then. We have the turnaround in the turnaround. Tuesday and we did exactly the opposite of what we did yesterday..

"This is involved to talk about today. But in my entire career inclusiveness is always been accrual. fedex. I mean it always has been. It's not because it's you know important at a certain point in time it's just part of our culture in so know that's the thing we'll probably most broadly. And i probably never talked publicly at you. Know outside of our team members and fedex. But you know some of the things like even you know. What would you see the way our team members mean. The corporation does great things as cooperation. But even the volunteerism though you know every way the individuals in the corporation give back is is probably the thing you know most problem and so people service profit is the answer your question. That is our culture We work on it Not it's not an accident. We work on it We have great Champions of it. Rob cars great champions of it in invited corporation. I'll tell you that and in the leadership that excels fedex is Is those who respect in enhanced develop an encourage and do all the things to make our people excel when that takes care of the rest of the business very interesting. Well thank you for that overview. I wanted to also ask you as you look to the future can what are some trends that particularly excite you. If you look out say two or three years what comes to mind. We don't other great question. it's funny outright. Before the pandemic speaking group of It was interns at the time. I said when. I started my career more than thirty years ago. Now i couldn't have imagined a better time to start in. It in technology. and what. i've got my kerr's incredible. I've always said i'd never started over. Great bid but a few years ago. I said if i could i would love to start my career at this point in time because to me. This is the most exciting point. And i'll answer your question. I mean you know. I'll package a few things. Together that i would say excite me but clearly what we can do in data to a okay did has always been important technology right but i would say generically. You know the decision sciences. A i m l. and really to me it's about the scale optimization capabilities of real time events that's game changing you at a company like us. I talked about sense where ideas on the vaccines at the edge. We create eight billion transactions. A day just in the sensors in the scale of the intelligent and optimization we can offer that could never have been done even five years. So i'd say that's the first about data but really the you know. Data science decision sciences. And all of them especially the you know the capabilities advance and then that leads right into edge computing. Why that's so important. And when you think of iot said. Since we're i d i o t but also atonomy automation you know and in one of our great innovator so you know think of autonomy mechanization of iot but the day creates what we need to do with. The edge is another thing. We'd sides me another thing. We're very focused on fedex. And then it's the more you know outpost standard things. Everything is a service you know. We all know offers a service the power than what we been there and then you know platform as a service all those aged when you even think of today is the service and the and what that means. That's a trend. That is. I think we're just beginning to see what's possible there. And and believe me and fedex. That'll be important. And i think it will be in every business as well and i would say just a couple more you know..

"Team problem of they. They do great work but as we said small but you know powerful team but the reality of it is there were also other areas. That are very focused on enemy. Digitally one of them is now. Our new data works team in fact just today. We announced data works. We only started one year ago. It was just while. I'm cio's two thousand and twenty one future edge fifty award winners and that is the truth focused on data gay think of decision sciences machine learning and beyond but how we create different levels visibility and optimization so i would say operations technology innovation data works. Call those specialized teams however the really. Your question is yes end because the organization every team is empowered and really challenge with some form of innovation ready. A real will examine what we know when i was in the freight company originally as a cio. There you know we noticed that this is a distance weight and space business spaces captured benches right and it was very hard in the freight industry palatine freight to captured mentioned. You either had to do it manually. Measure or the technology in the industry. Was you stopped it off of a forklift dropped it back the work lift let the dimension or measure were killed your productivity and. We decided we were going to innovate in the space. We're gonna leave the industry and with partnership of the fedex engineering. It and some third party partners. We created dim in motion so on a forklift driving a forklift speeds. We can dimension our rain in motion so credibly powerful in the audio industry leading the way but that was relentless innovation done just as part of our free company. So so sorry for the long answer. But you know i. It's it's a smile ask. The question is it's in our dna. Fred make sure that all the time and people are friend in rob and others. Just this is part of who we are. What we do. Fred smith and rob carter. Yeah that makes makes a lot of sense. I tell you also how do you define innovation. There's big i. Innovations fundamentally new things that are developed develop revenue streams or cost efficiencies. That have never been there before. They're small i innovations. I know that some organizations think about which is more kind of like enhancements themselves also enhancements to existing products or service offerings for example that that also yield value for the organization. How do you think about The definition of that both. I hate to answer these two questions in a row by saying both big innovation is is important and that's where we have the focus team so we think just like sensor. It's game changing to us. It's powerful to us in only you know. Besides the vaccine all areas any kind of health carriers that so many products need a different level. Visibility mean we lead the way early on with bar-coding and your real time tracking and eventing in knowledge is just the next level..

"Principle bulb solid core flexible edge. In quite simply what. That is where we have commonality. And we don't need unique velocity of change. Then it could be common and we drive ahead. You know engineering architecture becoming however we're at has uniqueness and or it needs unique velocity of change an operating company level. then that's the flex voyage where we keep it separate. Let me start at the strategy robbery cleverly with architectural design principle and having teams now that organizationally aligned. That is where we are driving towards much more common than we ever would have been passed and There's a everything for what we call. Laura jenner press foundation services across the enterprise also inside the operating companies in areas like areas like Pickup and delivery operations and a lot of from enterprise financial services. Done in some unique services could be just across two companies were could be across all was your time as a leader of each of those Those businesses did that. Provide you some of the insights that led to this change. Did it Upon you as somebody who had responsibilities and was marshalling the the forces and putting together the plans in each of those areas. Did that give you reason to think a little bit more about what the where the overlap in the ven diagram might be. I'll absolutely working for companies like fedex reach of these business units or multibillion dollar. You know large companies. There's there's great challenges in each of them and each you and so it all my time. Each as i said earlier was You know intense some focused and grade but you get to see a lot of opportunity and you and you and again you know. I'm a person who believes. We lead everywhere with engineering architecture right. I'll probably say it ten times talking today but But in that when you look at engineering architecture we started to see the commonality and then the world changed you know e commerce leaped ahead the pandemic we call you know slingshotted. A lot of things had to us and we just news..

"Tandem and the company's co founder and chief executive officer orion dowie ryan wanted to take a moment to provide some recommendations for cx ots in charge of technology and digital about how best to manage the cybersecurity landscape sr customers. I think are realizing there are three things. They really need to be secure. The first is they have way too many products and as a result of that they're unable to operate all these products well and there are holes in the security posture that are created as a result. Many of our customers have twenty or thirty or sometimes fifty different tools. If they can move to a platform approach. They have a much higher chance of succeeding. The second thing that a lot of our customers realizing is they need certain visibility on their environment every asset where it is. Who's using it. What data's on it what vulnerabilities that has and really be able to trust that they have three or four nines confidence in that data set instead of in some cases eighty five or ninety percent confidence which in reality he's way way. Too much of a surface area vulnerability and the third one is. They need to be able to remediate problems. They find instantaneously at scale. Globally even over slow links even over devices that are not easy to reach because without that capability. Unfortunately even if you know that there's a problem you're still gonna get hit by the security event that comes after it because you can't fix in time and so between that platform approach being able to have really really comprehensive visibility and having really strong control. Our customers are seeing a huge upgrade and their capability and now onto the interview. Ken spangler welcomed a technician. It's great to speak with you today. Peter to be here. Thank you for having me. No it's as. I say it's a great pleasure. Well can you are the executive vice president of information technology at fedex. And i wonder if you could take a moment to describe what that entails within your environment. What what's within your purview. Please sure absolutely leader. You know my actual title nato global opco technologies of you think of the four large global operating companies or both global and North american operating companies. That means i have oversight for fedex express it fedex ground it fedex freight it in vettix logistics it including you know some of their subsidiaries when you think of bendix logistics that includes our ariya a great vedic supply chain business so so basically. It's a global team You know the all the large transportation logistics segments fedex and And it basically includes everything from the tight business partnership with the leadership through the through the operations of each of the operating companies developing an engineering Some of the world class technology companies as well as the day to day operational excellence in the business agility and then move businesses forward. That's great it's a great overview. So you got. I mean what an interesting and complex organization is fedex as you highlighted say an airline. It's a trucking company logistics company..
