Wet Notes for 2-28-21

"This is wet notes on scuba shaq radio for sunday february twenty eighth two thousand and twenty one. Well i up today. I'm going to do an update on dry suit talq now ever since i've owned a dry suit i've been using those little pouches of talk to dust my wrist seals and neck seals. And that makes it easier to put on especially if it gets a little humid. Well we used to get these little pouches from magnet who then became gear aid when we could no longer get them from juried. We switched to getting them from diving unlimited international or dui. Recently we ran low on these talca pouches. Wanted to order some more. But do you. I stopped producing those talk pouches. I guess i'm guessing near some concern around. The safety of talk i noticed has been in news over recent years. So donna reached out to peak from dui and he suggested cornstarch to dust are seals. Make sure you do it every time now. That sounds a little strange to me. But it looks like people are using it in place of the talq. We'll give it a try. And i'll let you know how goes cornstarch. It's not just for cooking next up. Is things start opening up and we travel outside the country. We're going to need to get tested for in nineteen before we can come back well. Resorts are out there. And they're starting to accommodate their customers and making it easier to get tested. So for example. I just saw where enroll roett to resorts. The turquoise bay dive resort and the mayan princess beach dive resort are offering onsite cova testing on thursdays and fridays. And then what happens. Is you'll get electronic. Results are available in three hours. And then you'll have a hard copy the next day now you still have to pay for it in a costs about fifty bucks. Then i also check the cocoa view site down there and roett tan and it looks like they are also offering onsite testing but their prices coming in at eighty five dollars so it looks like if you're going to travel to row attend you'll find it easier to get tested for corona virus and get back home as long as you test negative but i think more and more of these dive operators out there are going to provide that cova testing or options for people so that you can go travel and then make it easier for you to get back home. Also last i think a couple of weeks ago. The president of the united states signed executive order. One three nine eight and with that executive order it mandated. That masks are to be worn on all public maritime vessels including ferries. What does that mean for dive boats. Well deana did. Some research and found out that this mandate includes commercial vessels used for dive charters and dive related activities. You'll need to be masked up upon boarding disembarking and the duration of travel. Obviously this can only apply to us. Operators i think this makes sense and i'm sure common sense will prevail given our unique circumstances when we go diving way back in the beginning of two thousand twenty i did a segment on dive travel insurance then in mid two thousand and twenty. I noticed the divers alert network. Dan their travel insurance was not available on their website is back now. However there was a short article on dive newswire that indicated that there are qualified cove in nineteen related cancellation and interruptions covered. There's a lot of detail on their website. You can read through. Essentially they cover prepaid travel arrangements. If you your host at your destination you traveling companion or family member test positive for covid. Nineteen there's also levels of coverage while traveling but you need to do your research. The good news however is that the dan travel insurance is back and it looks like they are helping to try and address the corona virus issues. It's always a good day when i go out to the mailbox and that the latest issue of the journal of diving history has arrived. That happened earlier this week. The cover of the first quarter two thousand twenty one magazine features to five women who made up the team of tech tight to mission six dash fifty. Which was america's first off female saturation team. The five women included peggy lucas. An hurley hotline renata lynch true elena schmidt and sylvia earle the journal of diving history. Formerly historical. diver magazine is the official magazine of the historical diving society. Usa and is part of your membership. I can't wait to dive into all the articles i saw. The other day that there's been a an oil spill off the coast of israel and lebanon and it's impacting over one hundred miles of coastline. Now what's a little disconcerting about this is that they don't know where this is coming from this washing up on the beaches. It's the seems like there's some sort of gag order on the release of information. I'm just not sure why there was. Also a thin whale washed up on the beach apparently with oil in its loans. They say this is undoing. Much of the progress made over the last thirty years. Let's hope they figure out where this is coming from or where it came from. And if they're able to minimize the impacts and finally here's some really big news in the scuba industry especially related to scuba tanks. Luxembourg is getting out of the aluminum tank business on february twenty third. Luxor held their fourth quarter and full year. Two thousand and twenty analysts call and that's where they announced their divestiture of their aluminum product lines now. The rationale according to their press release is that they wanted to focus on high performance magnesium alloys zirconium catalysts and high pressure composite cylinders. Guess to profit margin. Just wasn't there on the aluminum tanks. They plan on selling those two aluminum forming operations in the united states and one in the in the uk. But we don't know who they're going to sell it to just yet more to come on. This is it as it. Unfolds now luxembourg. They produced a lot of tanks. And there's a lot of them out there and we're going to see what that does to the supply chain as we move forward. Well that's it for wet notes for february twenty eighth two thousand and twenty one here on scuba shock radio

Disney Plus Launches Star, A Streaming Outlet With More Grown-Up Fare

"Knew that star was launching february twenty third which recording this yesterday. I am in canada. So i have access to it along with australia. New zealand parts of europe in singapore. So a few countries have this new section on their disney plus app. And it's a big deal. It's a big deal for me. Because we get all the wes anderson movies. It's a big deal for some other people because they get like twenty four and richard devine from window. Central is tweeting about how much she loves. Twenty four and jack bowers back baby and all that so. I just wanted to talk about where we are in terms of streaming. I know disney or marvel disney made a big bunch of big announcement this morning On when the next set of mcu in star wars shows will be released on disney plus. And then there's all the other services right. There's hbo max there's peacock there's discovery plus there's Paramount plus. I guess if you want to call that new and all this leads to confusion for people who just want to find the show to watch. So let's start with disney. They now have ninety five million subscribers. They are doing really really well. In terms of expansion into new countries. This new star lodge is a big deal so give us the t. l. Dr if you will of why star launched now and why. It's a big deal for people outside the us lawyers. It's always the lawyers. Yeah i say why did it launch now because this is when they could finally agree on. Okay here's where the contracts in so we can pick things up. Yeah the the. The really oversimplified version is this in the united states. We have hulu and hulu has basically everything. That's not under the five pillars of disney plus in those disney star. Wars marvel pixar in national geographic. Anything outside of that. you what. You're forgetting well. I was gonna say you're forgetting the pillar of twentieth century fox and twentieth century fox which is on hulu so so virtually anything outside of those five pillars in the. Us will find on hulu yes. They're exceptions the problem is hulu is not anywhere in the rest of the world. It's a decidedly american phenomenon and so disney needed a way to get all this content to everybody else in pay by the way they get to charge a little more for it too and that became star the way they first announced it they do it. What other earnings calls last year It was a little like just weird. I didn't even fully understand it at the time and it took a little while to sink in and then the developer not developer days there investor days into simmer november december whenever that was explained. It a little better really. It's just that simple if it's if it's content you can probably find on hulu here in the us it's going to be on star everywhere else. So given that disney twentieth century fox. They bought a. They bought that from fox which was previously a shareholder in hulu disney is now the majority shareholder of hulu. Why can't they just bring hulu to the rest of the world. What is that. I mean i don't know the brand well who owns. Who is the issue there although disney now entirely owns who if i correct right they finish tying their last pieces of hulu like two years ago for for all intents and purposes and there might be somebody with a little sliver but it it's a disney joint partially owned by comcast but they're buying it slowly over the next few years right. Yeah that was an agreement that was made a couple of years ago but But that's why comcast is okay. All of our stuff is leaving hulu at this date because we will no longer have a share in it and it's all going to peacock But yeah the reason that who didn't exist in all these other countries was media streaming lauzon like entertainment and streaming laws vary by country by country. It takes a lot of money to get the rights to a decent amount of shows in places other than the us so it was a matter of hulu. Didn't really have the time or the or the money to spend on investing in trying to build up a catalog and other countries the only other country that hulu is in outside of the united states is japan. And i'm not sure how much longer is going to be there since they're probably going to roll it into star but it's disney had the clout to roll around the disney also already had rights to a lot of these things or the released they in contracts and have the rights back right so it's just easier to bring a new sub domain umbrella underneath disney plus put all the twentieth century fox content in there called star and make it a separate kind of expansion for everybody who already has disney plus. All star is disney. Plus for grownups. It's harder to always you know proper phones not anymore. But that's a. That's a good analogy. Yeah all right. So we we have star. It's got all the twentieth century fox stuff. I think it's got more than that. That's also where a lot of like. Abc television stuff ended up. It's also where a bunch of other like indie stuff that disney and fox had bought up over the years. Anything fox searchlight his ended up in there. That's why it's it's a huge a collection of content. I'm amazed that they were able to get the international rights for those together quickly. Enough for star for the international launches. So the question. I have is is disney. Plus going to host new content in star is that is this where they're going to compete with netflix and hbo for adult viewership or are they still kind of not really aiming at that audience. No actually. I think you've got that right in. It's going to get a little weird because contents can vary by country but you can see that a little bit in the in the Release lists you get you get stuff that is decidedly more adult in there and and part of that is just from the content. That's coming out of those houses in the first place. If you look at specifically fx stuff here it's called fx. Hulu it is it is. I don't know that. I'd go so far as to say it's r rated but it's pretty damn close. Fx is yeah fx is definitely not child-friendly content like ninety percent of it like isn't fx. Were archer lives yeah. Fx is is archer archer archers ethics original sort of But yeah we look at the. The new exclusive stuff like fx on hulu like depths. Was one. I loved last year. I thought it was excellent right up until the end and it went. A little off the rails. Mrs america was on there as well. I mean there's stuff that the you wouldn't even otherwise necessarily see on cable but that they're streaming in that fashion. lets them. do you know just a little more than they. otherwise would have And it's not something that you would see on disney plus so this gives them another conduit for that stuff as well. Yeah and the brand new original content is also going. It's going to vary by the audience category. 'cause like anything that's marvel or star wars is not going to be listed under the star brand period. If it belongs to one of those temples it's still going to be disney plus branded and everything starts going to have the both labels at the bottom whenever they're advertising it but it's a matter of if we're going to do original series if it's pg or if it's pg thirteen below it'll probably be disney plus branded and if it's not pg thirteen disney and pg thirteen and up will probably be star

Did Bill Gates Seriously Short TSLA Stock

"Robbed our here and today we're going to be talking about bill gates response to on musk's claims the oregon podcast a couple of weeks. Back that get heard. That bill gates had been shorting stock. We've also got some news on the broader electric vehicle automotive market an interesting response from yvonne on an article from the washington post. And of course. We've gotta talk about tesla stock. It's about wild couple of days. We had the interview yesterday with alex rotter so we didn't get a chance to talk about it. But of course yesterday. Tuesday february twenty. Third tesla dropped to a low of six hundred nineteen dollars per share. That was down more than thirteen percent from the prior. Close then of course. We saw us swift recovery in the market. And from tesla tesla finishing down just two percent yesterday on the biggest volume day that we've seen in over a month and a half with sixty six million shares trading hands yesterday. So i talked about on monday and we briefly talked about yesterday in the interview as well. A lot of this is tied to expectation on interest rates. So yesterday fed chairman. Jerome powell made comments to congress. Indicating the current monetary policy is expected to continue for some time as economic uncertainty remains so not to get too deep into that. We've talked about that. Of course in the past but as far as tussles yesterday certainly was not isolated to tesla. Those sort of concerns were broadly extended to high growth. Stocks tussle obviously falls in that category. And i think the volatility there serves as a nice quarterly reminder that you have to be very very careful with stop losses on a volatile stock like tussle as for today tesla continue to rebound finishing up six point two percent to seven hundred and forty dollars two cents. That compared to the nasdaq up one percent. All right so i up today. I want to continue a conversation that we began a couple of weeks back after yvonne. Musk went on joe. Rogan's podcast for the third time and said that he had heard from people he believes would know that bill gates had shorted tesla. Yvonne brought that up in response to a question from joe rogan on the tesla semi citing that bill gates in a blog. Post a few months back had said that eighteen wheel electric semi is probably would never work so allen's claim here understand. We drawing a lot of attention not the first time something like this has happened between musk and gates last year. He did by his first electric vehicle. The porsche ticon. Which at the time. Maybe it wasn't so clear why he didn't by ordering vehicle up until that point. Well now we might have a better answer for that. But he talked about the decision in an interview with marquez brownlee and it seemed to be a relatively tepid endorsement of electric vehicles gatesville right up ranging anxiety as a problem and elon. Musk responded to that interview. Not necessarily gives purchase of tycoon but those comments in general by saying that quote my conversations with gates have been underwhelming to be honest and so that catches us up to today and then we have launched claiming that he heard gates which tesla now in the last week. We've had both cnbc and bloomberg asked gates directly about that claim. I think gates tone is important these responses so i will play the actual clip. The i wanna hear from andrew. Ross sorkin cnbc asking gates so so you're not sure tesla's stock were clear. Yeah i'm not. I don't talk about my investment. But i think he should be very proud of what he's done. Okay so technically there. He did say yeah. I'm not but it sounded like he was more starting a sentence of saying yeah. I'm not going to talk about my investments not yet. I'm not sure tesla because he interrupts himself and says i don't want to talk about my investments so to me. That's a no comment. Rather than a denial. What's interesting here is his reason saying he doesn't wanna talk about his investments but in the exact same interview. He talks about his investments multiple times. He says quote when i invested in impossible foods or beyond me or quantum scape. I was doing that just to help their own climate. Now it looks like those three will be very successful companies. And so i'll have more money to put into the tough areas a climate like cement and steel and quote. Okay so he says he doesn't want to talk about his investments but then he in response to another question talks about his investments in impossible foods beyond me quantum scape and then how does investments are doing and that i'll have more money to then go on an invest in other stuff. I mean how much more could you talk about your investments. And he uses the first person tense. You're saying i invested. He's asked about bitcoin and he says quote. I don't own bitcoin. I'm not short bitcoin. So i've taken a neutral view and quote so for bitcoin. Perfectly fine to say i'm not short bitcoin. Same question for tesla. oh. I don't want to talk about my investments that we just spent a bunch of time talking about. If you're not going to answer the question at least come up with a better non answer. That doesn't immediately contradict yourself. He has to have known that he'll be asked about that and yet seems completely content guard answer so that was last week if there was any doubt left after that because he did start off. By saying yeah. I'm not before interrupting himself as we said. Here's gates on bloomberg yesterday so we had five days to think about this answering the same question from emily. Chang yuan has in the past claimed you shorted tesla and i wonder if there's any truth to that Well you know i think. Test us on amazed seen company I wish you know own. Been more on the long side. But i it's it's great And you know i have. Lots of relatives won't tassels Helped by for them. So you know nothing. But positive thoughts about tesla role. Okay so if the answer to the cnbc question was a bit of a flood. There was a clear opportunity to just say. Hey i'm not sure. Tesla was jor tesla and again gates passes and he sure doesn't look comfortable to me answering the question. Belief is that it looks pretty clear. That bill gates was short. Tesla who knows if he's still is it'd be surprised but come on. How are you going to be all about climate change and then short the one company that's doing more than any other company on earth to combat it. If you don't think it's a good investment you think it's overvalued you can just not invest in it. No one has any problem with that but too short it push the stock price down. Make it more difficult for tesla to raise capital. That's something else entirely.

Supreme Court won't halt turnover of Trumps tax records

"Hope and one vaccine dose gives high protection from severe covid. It's tuesday february twenty three. I'm anthony davis in a significant defeat for former president. donald trump. The supreme court on monday declined to step into halt the turnover of his tax records to new york state prosecutor. The courts action is the apparent culmination of a lengthy legal battle that had already reached the high court once before trump's tax records not supposed to become public part prosecutor's criminal investigation but the high court's is a blow to trump because he's fought on so many fronts to keep his tax records shielded from view the ongoing investigation. The records apart of could also become an issue for trump in his life after the presidency. The supreme court waited months to act in the case the last of the written briefs of the case was filed on october nineteen but a chord that includes three trump appointees waited through the election. Trump's challenge to his defeat and a month after trump left office before issuing its order. The court offered no explanation for the delay and the legal issue before the justices did not involve whether trump was due any special deference. Because he was president. The court order is a win manhattan district attorney cyrus vance junior who's been seeking trump's tax records since two thousand and nineteen as part of an investigation vans had subpoenaed the records from the missouri's accounting firm that has long done work for trump and his businesses. "Yeah Joe there was an earlier confrontation in the same neighborhood between Ahmad armory and murder suspects Greg in Travis but Michael the Atlanta journal constitution reports it happened less than two weeks before the fatal shooting on February twenty third the McMichael suspected robbery of committing a burglary and say they were trying to make a citizen's arrest state Rep Jeff Jones is among those calling for changes to the civil war era law which allows residents to arrest one another or worse no reason whatsoever for those citizens to have confronted Ahmad with deadly force this case also is bringing attention to Georgia's lack of a hate crimes law governor Brian camp says a lot of questions are unanswered in the Amman ivory case and Georgians deserve the truth has been a very emotional time for our state our prayers remain with his family loved ones in the community as a whole asked whether the state should have its own hate crimes statute can't simply acknowledged he looks forward to working with the General Assembly when it reconvenes in June you know there's all kind of bills that are out there and play right now the hate crimes legislation B.

"L. rush ball the Maharashtra Rush Limbaugh tomorrow morning at ten on five fifty K. FYI on FM at ninety five point five HD to he's a microservices Russell hunter five fifty of why we appreciate you hanging out with us we encourage it checks out on Facebook as well Facebook dot com forward slash Russell in Hunterdon find us out we live right there I hate doing this I I really do I hate talking about things like this because it just makes more I'd makes gun owners it makes fireman through Z. as it makes two A. supporters look like idiots it really does and unfortunately a man has lost his life in this and it is only this this entire story is only going to get worse this is out in Georgia now the story is quite a is it's the actual happening was I believe two months ago and now the has Sir okay February twenty third thank you and now a video has surfaced that has people all up in arms and by the way from what I'm seeing right now they have every right to be up in arms now I carry a firearm I will fire him right next to me I have two behind me I am always well armed I look for every opportunity in the world and I think the majority of my associates George my majority my friends people that I that I hang out with look for every single opportunity not to use these on human people okay so there is never worried about I definitely never have and I died really things that I never have to so they're all going to get it at there is a man that is there this is just kind of minding his business he's he's just Mosey into a town in Georgia he's a black there is one robbery in the entire town within how many weeks route January first to February twenty third report of one burglary in that neighborhood one burglary in that neighborhood so so I'm gonna say what it is read next Wilson shot guns jump in a pickup truck they see a black guy they quite literally and I eat the over use of the word literally is figuratively driving me insane they literally drive after this guy he would just jog you just don't think they chased him and say that they want to talk to him they are armed to the teeth they get out they got the kid starts but the man starts fighting what do you starts fighting over the man shot gun he shoots the person he shoots the man and the man falls to his death the reason why the people that were with the the the man aren't being wrong up as accomplices to murder it blows me away the fact that the man that killed the guy is not being rung up for murder absolutely blows me away this is the type of example this type of event is what we as firearm owners people that use firearms to defend ourselves and understand that the second amendment is sacred the second amendment is our constitution of deck to right to protect ourselves this is not protecting yourself this is not protecting your community your by the way your job is not to protect your community the cops jobs predicted to me that's the way our laws are written this is murder plain simple it seems so obvious alright the outrages universal on this it is not it it there doesn't seem to be a division about it no one seems to think they make Michaels the two accused of the murder who actually did kill him I mean there's no accusation at this point they just haven't been arrested yet and part of it's because the older of the two Greg make Michael is his name is a former cop retired detective and that was what makes this even worse to me Mike is this guy's a Cup of former cop who knows the rules and knows the law he knows that if there's a scoring quote suspect call the cops you don't get in the car and track him down that's not how it works and in fact if you do that here in Arizona that part is illegal you're not allowed to do that it should be illegal because this isn't the wild wild west anymore which just frontier justice and you just do what you want no because there's no allegations that armada Aubrey was guilty of anything other than jogging through the neighborhood guilty of it but basically he was jogging while black I'm not getting a man but I'm not being I'm not trying to crack a joke at this at all this is what this man was doing he was jogging and I don't even know if there's a description of the suspect that committed the one robbery in months the one reported robbery I don't even know if there was it the description they just assumed in my mind how I'm reading it how watching this video they they just assume because he was black that he was the man he was jogging that he was the man that committed that they committed the robbery a burglary whichever and make changes to it there is a man standing up in the bed of the pickup truck with a shot gun this is hunting this is nothing to do with I want to go see with this kids all about I've done that in my neighborhood I've asked what what what's going on because there are some people doing some shady stuff to a guy's truck down the street me and my neighbor approached him and said you know Hey what what's happening here when you guys got going on to help you with anything and he just scared him off because they're up to no good okay we weren't hunting them we didn't jump in the truck and go down chase them down and shoot them and I'm telling you if you have a firearm and you give you give you would dress me out of your car you would dress me and you have a fireman you get out with that fire I am going to fight you running and getting shot in the back is not an option for me I'm going to fight you that is what this man did in these I almost said it these people are claiming self defense because they're claiming that the victim started a fight with them and that's how the the gun accidentally went off when he was shot this is Luna that's it and that's the despicable part about this and and I think that's what universal agreement is this is where you start the justice process you don't determine now okay great what you say is fine because now you look worse because the guy's a former cop so the first agency that was supposed to investigate decided not to because he's a former cop in the second agency decided not to it it just got lost in the wings because of cold at nineteen or whatever the excuse is going to be but now the powers that be are getting involved in the present was even asked about it today so all we can hope for look and this is this is one of the ten about conservative beliefs that we have in this country that there is a such thing as justice that justice is served in looking at this case as gun owners and second amendment advocates knowing that there's potential that this will be used to lump us all together let's all hope and pray that justice is served and served quickly in this case because we are all not Greg McMichael in Travis make Michael not even close not even eighty degrees of similarities between this and the faster we get this done the more justice for our model we can actually see and that's justice for the rest of us in America as free individuals who believe in this country as well or or or better yet how about a giant lesson to everyone who thinks that they can do this one of the greatest things that I learned in concealed carry course are the things I can't do I don't have to get to care course column the great state of Arizona I'm Kerry however whenever I choose to it's beauty about the state but I took the class because I wanted to know what I can and cannot do shocked shocked I tell you at what I could not do blown away I recommend that to anyone who has a fire for self defense you better taking concealed carry course to understand the law and you cannot I assure you get in the truck fully armed in chase someone down in jump out and fight them and come in by the way then talk about self defense it's it's crazy what is crazier than this is we're talking about here in the great nation that we live in that our government has handed US thirty three million unemployed you heard that right stats coming up next on Russell hunter after robbery he's got you down if I start Michigan gas what governor Gretchen Whitmer liberal has decided to extend the stay at home water Intel may twenty eighth now Mike although I'm she is going to let some parts of the manufacturing sector start to operate again under quote unquote certain restrictions she's so nice magic is a mess Michigan relies on that sector and she's going to let some open up you know why there's one reason one reason only that guy some service two reasons one is tax revenue into was votes when she thinks that she's going to be Biden's VP she wants to help him carry that state she wants votes and she also wants yet she she also wants to tax revenue that's it what.

whatever here Sir now I'm going to find somebody that has a son I'm Dave how about you movie the free check out when you're a kid well when I was like nine years old I went on vacation with my cousin and we were in Clearwater Florida and we saw jolts and obviously I couldn't get in the water the rest of the vacation verified every time we went on the boat replied yes well when I was a little guy we would resolve my went to the ocean I would think I was like five and I was scared to go in the ocean anyway because I was convinced that this before jaws but I was given that something was gonna get me and they are not Kenya when the first days I'm out there when it we're in Virginia beach I'm walking in like may be waist deep water and of course some five so it's not much water yeah and as I'm walking out there a piece of newspaper wrapped itself around my leg and I'm telling you that little tiny little lad he did everything else they would come out of your body and ran my **** up on shore and did get back in the water nice Eddie Murphy movie will you jump up in there and you run across the top of the wall exactly what I was trying to do believe me body bags day do we have here is this Deanna yeah are you got a deal on Friday Hey Matthew what he got on the one that sticks out to me what silence of the lamb yeah and then the first time when I saw it you know you're thinking you're going in there earlier and between she had a and down there cannibal actor made you know to this day any time I see it on the screen it does make me say and then this well it's funnier I watched channel ball and thought it was so lame that eight years later they brought out which was the first one in and the whole thing it was called red dragon and I actually at the time and I remember sitting in that one in the theater on a date and my legs were just shaking that guys scared the crap out of me red's red dragon was pretty thank you for that one scene with her just like it just quickly because so you don't expect it and they're like outside is like broad daylight tubes going down the hill the wheelchair on fire I'm not saying like I mean I know this is that's Dave what do you have buddy movie that freaked out as a kid well on what we're about more than twelve years old those are movie on TV one time I called them the movie with the big gains the big dance man that was it was about these these these two cops are out in the Arizona desert New Mexico desert and they hear this that in the horrible wind storm and the year this weird noise yeah yeah anywhere they go out there in the first you don't know what it is and people are dying all over the place and kids are freaked out you know and it's like they they can't figure out what's going on and then finally they see this giant and come out of nowhere and then they figure out that they were made big by that nuclear tests yes and then these things are about to take over the I mean they had to find the naps and all it was just it was a very well done science fiction movie for nineteen fifty four yeah I'm glad that's that would freak me out too and as a kid you got to see I mean street when now do you see as adult it's pretty cheesy going back in that way you know you're when you're a kid you're gone holy crap the fifty foot long yeah go on how bout you Fred what freaks you out when you're a kid federal over my brother it that's about you know I read that that is a great movie ads I haven't seen that in years though yeah it's been a long time let's talk to is it Travis how you doing Travis what he got a very happy Friday guy okay on Thursday there that they're they're a straight to DVD movie back in nineteen eighty three until the day it's a little different than what you guys talk about the former either on the day after a nuclear war didn't sleep for weeks after that yeah I mean that was it that it was like a mini series kind of thing yes Sir the three hour long movie and about nuclear war came the city got blown away and yeah gosh you a dislike yeah yeah it's on YouTube you can look it up at work that day and age they depicted there pretty well the worst part about it is or a you know like a ten year old at that time is that they have the MFA the disclaimer actual nuclear war is much worse than what was just as bad the real thing a little bit of the extras I remember that part but I definitely remember once now to everything is one of those things that everybody watched you know yeah Hey how about you George what do you got movies and free chat when you're a kid well I think it might have been the setting as much as anything but here at the call your member Bob Shreve at the all night movie yeah absolutely he adamant that that attitude so I don't know if my parents let me stay out for a bite not downstairs to the rec room I was about twelve years old and I think the last movie that started it maybe three or four in the morning with the abominable Dr Phibes all rights that's what we've got is dead wife's corpse but he's got to reanimate and he can't he doesn't have a vocal chords or something through the mouth never moves right I'm there twelve years old the lonely person awake in the house what you should see that that move yeah that's a really and and things George that is a weird **** movie and St yeah right if there's a you probably ever seen any of it's a price movies because I was going to be you and I'll throw mine out there because I don't think anybody's going to claim it but it has been surprised movie called house of wax I think they remade it years like you know I actually saw the old one I got what I have on TMC you're flipping through the day and right yeah I guess on fire and then there you know every yeah and it's all the the enemy the wax figures are all people these real people yeah love it at the end but that was a double a freak me out about because but for one thing the movie freak me out then I went to Gatlinburg not too long after that I was probably like again like ten eleven years old and they took us to the wax museum down there my dad mom derived thank you the moment Jamie how are you talking about movies and free chat when you're a kid well I would probably in about the third grade and my mom and my step dad decided for some reason with me in there that thank you we're going to watch children of the corn yeah and it probably wasn't even halfway through it and I said I'm going to bed so I ran in my room and my room was right beside the living room and I'm lying in my bed cover my ears a I'm all for it because I can still hear it I can still hear it but it just hit me you know the right music and stuff and then to this day there was well there is a character in it his name was Malachi yes yeah but I think that many very clean I mean I've seen them in two thousand and beyond that that movie is just kind of a really creepy movie take your calls on movies and free chat when you're a kid seven four nine seven thousand eight under the big one pound seven hundred on AT and T. Robert movie that freaked you out when you were a kid I loved all of the Vincent Price movies those are just all classic house on haunted hill the great everyone of them although he Edgar Allan Poe movies just he was just awesome but the one that really creep me out was the hills the hills have eyes yeah I know I remember that movie I never saw it it was about this family that was driven underground due to I think it is because of nuclear testing in the in the desert and then they in bread and and they attacked anybody who came out into the the dry hills yeah it was nasty and then it's a live our yeah I remember that moment to baby monster we either maybe monster yeah yeah the course allow babies today are monsters does it alone no but yeah those are pretty pretty freaky movies I can't from the UCL traffic center UC health weight loss center offer solutions for life changing weight loss call five one three nine three nine twenty two sixty three to learn more that's five one three nine three nine twenty two sixty three.

"Television on February twenty third two thousand five in this episode the campaign story, and the White House story come back together, we spent the last episodes bouncing back and forth between the campaign primary trail and the west wing, but now because of DNC gala all our characters will be under one roof. But in the middle of the fight for a new president. And in the wake of Toby's brothers recent death, not all as well. Toby and Josh crash into each other with words and fists and Kate Harper and will Bailey end up silently flirting and looking like they want to crash into each other with other body parts, and we're joined for this episode by very special guest writer, Deborah Kahn. Hello, thanks for joining us. I'm so happy to be here. Right. The first time must have been fun or you wouldn't be. Back. It was so fun. It really was. There was wine. It was far more fun than I had anticipated. This is a great episode. Oh, so this should be fun conversation. Good. I'm glad there's a lot of strategy in this episode. The way you plant things and pay them off is so smart. They're little ways you do that. And there are big ways that you do that. And I think it works. Really? Well, I agree. That's one of the great joys about watching the episode more than once. I did I get go back, and sort of reverse engineer and seal the craftiness, you put into it on glad that you see it. It was a little difficult to generate it. And so this was a very significant episode for me at holds a very special place for me because it started out as a little bit of nervous breakdown. I had a lot of trouble figuring out with that mouth was in the very beginning. And I was trying to break this episode. And I was trying to figure out how the story with Toby and the strange woman in the bar was Going to work, and how it would cohere to itself, and it would also weave into the story that was in the recent past which also had to cohere and how the two would speak to each other but have integrity on their own. And I had not done that before. I mean, I was learning a lot on the job. And I went home when weekend to try and break this episode and by Sunday morning I had like completely fallen apart. And I called the great Carol Flint who is a wonderful, wonderful writer and person. And I think was Like like. solving. And she was like what you come over. And she has this glorious sun drenched OAC's of a home in Santa Monica with this beautiful garden in the back, and this cuddly reassuring big dog, and we sit out there in the sun. And she just completely calms me down and slowly takes me through these two stories, and we figure out how they're going to work and how they're going to work with each other. "When came out Brian February twenty third early movies is here. Alice Garland's, follow up to x Martina annihilation annihilation is a movie that I how do I miss him to say is almost awesome because it needed one more really spectacular scene. I think for me to love as movie, however, the longer I thought about it, and I had all here think about it because it came up over a year ago. Now, the more liked it. And at the time, it was the best movie I've seen all year, which said nothing those February, but this movie stuck with me continued to be one of my favorites throughout the year to the point that crack my top five of the year. Annihilation starting alley Portman. Unfortunately, Jennifer Jason Leigh because she was by far the week Lincoln, this movie Tessa Thompson, this is a movie that's got scenes that I'll never forget this movie. That's got a very original thoughts. Big ball film-making with the star caliber that it has Alex garland with the success that he had with ex. See him. You see him getting to make decisions that lesser filmmakers or less, proven filmmakers what it'd be allowed to make special one. I'm talking about that last sequence which goes on for I haven't timed out. But I'd imagine it's ten minutes. Maybe twelve I quit it with the worm hole sequence in two thousand one. It just goes on and on its unexplained. It's unnecessary at times everybody to interpret it people were very bored in the theater that I was at and it goes on so long that it almost becomes challenging at times very challenging. And I absolutely love this movie. I really love it. I just wish that it had one more big set piece that scene in the pool is something I'll never forget the bear scream scene. Like, I wish it was up for some awards because that would be a fun bitten to do at make fun of talk about that at the Oscars. You know what I mean? I the way I do this Anderson just go through. All the notes for all the episodes of the year, it's tedious process. And I just I just copy and paste all the films I saw this year and all the films made notes on and somehow happens. I guess sometimes I just missed an election. I just didn't I didn't get why you're gonna get letterbox or do what I do the old school way. Where you just write down every movie, you see I put my notes that's not writing down pen to paper, and I can go through all of them quite easily well per page. I don't. Alannah annihilation may have been tied with bad times. That's that's a superior, Phil. I think so, but it's really brought it up because I totally forgot about it. And would have certainly considered tough. If not made my top five so good, call elation. I totally forgot Alex garland at fifty. You weren't a fan of his after an island. I mean after X I don't see how you're not excited about what he's coming up with his third film. Yeah. I don't know if it goes over a bad times. But dammit that was a good movie. His next film, cold devs. And it's about a computer engineer investigates. The secret development division in her company almost the top for us. She believes is behind the disappearance over boyfriend still. Uh-huh. And looks like a unknown cast. What what is what? What who's Karl Glossman Carl who's Zach rainier who's Jin Hossack Regnier? I don't get any of these people that are in his movie and his excellent Nick Offerman know him Alison pill her all, right? Maybe this just weird weird space listing. All right. So look for Deb's that'll be Alex grandma's next film. These second worst movie of the year that I can't believe we're doing this. Yes. Me too. I've known this segments of the year. But I saw. Oh, what was it bad? It's at forty eight percent run tomatoes feels high. For Jurassic world falling kingdom. Visit outrageously you. See the trend. That's happening. All these movies in all of your neck, top five worst movies..
