So according to the department of law, enforcements, and you'll uniform crime report, despite more people we had over forty five thousand fewer crimes over the past year. That is a nine percent decline in crime. Now is pretty impressive. There's a heck of a lot more part of a much longer term trend. In fact, the FDLE Florida Department of law enforcement, their report shows that crime has declined wait for not just this year or last year, the one for eleven consecutive years four eleven. "Do is show for two hours while in Joyce's outta town. We're going to be speaking with Stewart about a bunch of things. F B related parkland related another case that he's got going on. Those Palm Beach county deputy shooting case, that's actually proceeding to trial. That's we're going to break that story that also were speaking to a wonderful, wonderful woman, you're just gonna love her attend thirty five. Her name is Rachel heart Barcelona's. She is the first and only contestant for miss Florida, who is running and who has autism, and she is the most delightful human being on the planet, you'll ever and then we'll speak with Blair Ellis. She is the spokesman about the president's big announcement on Tuesday in Orlando. It's going to be huge. And then also about the fact that Sarah Sanders is leaving the White House spokesperson, and then studio, and he doesn't even know this and maybe is not listen. Earning. I hope not because then we're gonna ruin the surprise, but a former navy seal Hector Delgado. Who's a good friend of yours Stewart who used to not only see could friend. But ironically, just reminded me I a year ago or two years ago when I filled in during believe the holiday season, I actually brought Hector on as a guest of my, oh, my gosh. Oh my gosh. Okay. Great guy. Yes. Well, he's got this really cool thing, it's an active shooter notification system. And I know many places are looking into getting it, but it actually it's uses existing technology, but it lets law enforcement students teachers, everybody. Or maybe it's in here at the radio station or maybe it's an hospital. You push a button. When there's an active shooter in it sends exactly the location of the shooter. There's video I think as well. It sends out text messages to everybody. So that there's no there's no you know, foggy nece about where this person is in the advanced. Really in the advantages it's going to go directly to the men and women on the street. Yes. Trolling. So there's not going to be any delay or lapse of time. So instead of normally we go to a nine one one operator. Through the dispatch system. This goes right to the cops on the street, and they go immediately to respond cuts out the middleman. So that would have meant that Scott Peterson would have gotten a text that the shooter is on the first floor of the third floor. And he wouldn't think, oh, he's outside then that excuse goes out the window. We know exactly where you are, and go get him. Absolutely. Oh my gosh. All right. So we'll before we get into all of that, because Tuesday's a big day for the former sheriff of Broward County, Scott, Israel, even though the supreme court, the Florida's spring court ruled that the governor was well within his bounds to suspend the sheriff, the supreme court said, look, it's really up to the Senate to decide this, and Tuesday, you're heading up to del ASI for to see the special magistrate, we're latitude trial. It's a quasi trial. It will commence actually thirty starting Tuesday morning and will run until such time as we finish our case. So how does the Scott? Peterson arrest help or hurt the case against gut Israel. Well, since the arrested has become a huge issue for us. And as a matter of fact, we have written and have had an emergency hearing in front of the special magistrate as early as this week. And one of the things that is concerned to us is that we know when you go back when Rick Scott was still the governor, he enlisted, the Florida Department of law enforcement to commence an investigation into the parkland shooting. So, yeah, we part of the FDLE report came out. That's why they arrested Scott Peterson but the whole thing has not been released that that is correct. Because it's still essentially, an active open investigation hitting Salah. Well, these things take awhile time. It is a matter of fact, we know that they have interviewed over one hundred eighty witnesses, and there are over two hundred investigative reports. But what is troubling to me, and what is troubling to sheriff, Israel? And what has been troubled from the very beginning as we know that then governor, Scott enlisted FDLE to conduct this investigation. We also know that he commissioned, the Marjory stoneman Douglas commission to look into the shooting at the high school, and you would think that would require. Now, the governor who came in governor Disentis to exercise some discretion in some patients to a wait for the findings findings. Investigation. Agreed governor, Scott would have done something and I think what governor Scott wanted to do. We see wanted to have a law enforcement agency. And by the way, FDLE is the leading law enforcement agency here in the state of Florida and rightfully so we should await and to see what their findings are it turns out now that clearly their findings lead to the arrest of Scott Peterson the problem that I'm having from the legal perspective, or from, you know, I always say from the defense of sheriff Israel, but I don't feel that I need to defend him. It's more of me, trying to be the prosecutor is that due process would require that, if my client is fighting to get reinstated, that all of this information that's out there that FDLE has and that has led to the arrest of Scott Peterson. We think we should get the benefit of examining it looking. At it analyzing it, and I would imagine that there may be some witnesses that we are unaware of be relevant in this case to try to get Scott, Israel reinstated. The special magistrate has not seen it that way, it even makes me that much more concerned because it's such a critical issue. You know, one of the things be politicized. You know it it's Senate. And you've got it is. But, you know, one of the things that is troubling, and one of the things that prosecutors have been admonished for they had been sanctioned for in some prosecutors. Ironically had been disbarred, and pet lost their law licenses is COPA. Tori information is absolutely the responsibility of the state or the federal government to come forward. So if you have information that, that may not be favorable to the government's case or the state's case notwithstanding. You must turn that over twenty eighty materials you're the plaintiff will on the plate. But the. Government, the state of Florida through the FDLE may be in possession of sculpture. Tori information, and here's how it plays out just to give you a little tidbit. If you look at the probable cause affidavit that was prepared by the FDA, L E in connection with arresting Scott Peterson, I believe on page six or seven. It says that Scott Peterson did in fact receive the necessary training to training at the time was too correct training for the period of time, and it was only because of Scott Peterson's, individual, lack of decision making, not because of training that he failed to go in and try to help those children. What about the policy shall go? When I go in go in, they said that the policy and training at the time was appropriate. FDLE is saying as a matter of record pursuant to their investigation, the training at the time the policies that were in place. War appropriate and that shower may had nothing to do with it. Okay. And as a defense attorney, do you think the fact that this police officer, former deputy as school resource officer has been charged a church in a law enforcement officer with child neglect is I mean, is that is he a caregiver or how does that work? All right. So if you ask me to now take off my hat with respect to representing Scott, Israel. I think that it sets poor precedents for law enforcement. I don't believe that there is a relationship between the law enforcement officer and the children at the high school such as a care provider or caregiver. Meaning, if you're in a daycare, facility or babysitting type of situation, I think, again, it's not necessarily the right charge nor do I think Scott Peterson should be held accountable criminally, but certainly civilly. Absolutely. It's never happened that an officer has been charged in a situation like this first time. And, and it just goes to show at again, the emotional side of this, because no parent should ever have to live through the loss of a child, and certainly through this horrific situation. But I think when you look back, that's what drove this situation to get to the point we're at right now. So eleven counts partially, it's the, the kids that and the teachers that were up on the third floor that Scott Peterson may have been able to interdict the shooter at that time, where Hector Delgado are former navy seal, who joins us select thirty his, he has that system that would be put in, and they could have pushed a button to let Scott Peterson know exactly where they are where the shooter was about, I guess, those eleven counselor, and that he could have gone up there and stopped him before he killed those people on the third floor. You know, Karen the realities, he may have been able to go in and he may have been able to at least neutralize the shooter isolate the shooter we. Don't know that the reality is that to hold him criminally responsible. I'm not sure if this is the proper form, he thought the shots were coming from outside, and then he prevented other officers from going in that, that's another problem that's a real problem because the officers that created a perimeter relied on his intelligence to say that the shots were not coming from the twelve hundred building. Now, what I know because I have the benefit of knowing a lot more about the information is that. The detectives were able to pair up the interior video with the exterior video, and they were able to count at least seventy gun shots during the period of time that Scott Peterson was telling the other officers that the shots were not coming from the twelve hundred building. And so we know that he lied about, and so that is very near. No one knows about is new information never heard that before. Well, I'm telling you that, that is one of the lied about he lied about it. And here's the thing, Karen. And this is where I'm so with respect to defending Scott Israel, and why I think that the removal is really the absurdity. Any Lorne forcement officer will tell you that there is absolutely no way to ever intestate. How someone will really react. And by the way, ask Hector when he comes in, because there's a guy who experience of a navy seal, who seen the worst of the worst. You just never know that human factor that may come forward. When someone is confronting the hostile situation that cannot be put on the sheriff or on one individual that is solely and squarely on the individual himself and it should be left there. All right. We're going to leave it here right now for just a moment. You're listening to the Joyce Kaufman show. I'm Karen Curtis. I have former FBI special agent Stuart Kaplan, who's also a defense attorney in Palm Beach gardens joining me and we're talking about what happened in parkland. And the fact that the former sheriff Scott Israel will be going up to Tallahassee on Tuesday to plead his case as to why he believes that he should. Get his job back and we're take your calls. Eight seven seven eight fifty eight five eighty.

"Guess, and this follows a fifteen month investigation and a report from the Florida Department of law enforcement that we've been waiting for this report, you know, there had been rumors what six months ago. What's coming out any day, now it took him fifteen months? And, and I'm sure they did it with the intent that every, I would be dotted every t crossed and no one could argue. So they arrested the former Broward County sheriff's deputy Scott Peterson yesterday. He was fired almost immediately by the new Broward sheriff online in jeopardy is eighty eighty seven hundred dollar a month pension as what Karen said. Yeah. What a pension kit. So that's up for debate. Wow. Actual charges child. Neglect neglect. Culpable negligence in perjury. Interesting. And what the FDLE report also revealed Jan was not only retreated during the active shooting he directed other law enforcement to stay away from the building. I think that's key in that whole thing. A lot of confusion short did. There are a number of parents from these children who are either tweeting or commenting Fred Gutenberg who lost his daughter, fourteen year old, Jamie. He tweeted, I have no comment, except to say, rotten hill. Scott Peterson you could have saved some of the seventeen you could have saved my daughter you did not. And then you lied about it. You deserve the misery coming your way who've. Wow. Wow was right. The imagine now, now, now, here's the difference between me and Scott Peterson where I this police officer never one, I would hope I would have had the gumption to run inside attempt to protect some of these kids. But if I heard stuff like that written about me, I don't think I'd be able to live. I really wouldn't take at I couldn't handle stuff like that knowing that, all these people just despise me in, you know, charge me with the death of their kids and just going by the interview he did last year. I think it was less than a year ago with NBC Scott Peterson probably isn't taking that. Sorry, sorry. Sorry that I did know where he was or was one person. I didn't know who it was or where they were initially. It's. Wow, unbelievable. They while the president's over starting still speaking now over in Portsmouth England. The pictures of him before hair, plugs, face pretty bald. Wow. I didn't realize but he came out with a climate plan his very expensive one point seven trillion dollar plan to fight global warming. Does this just the United States doing this or is this the world doing this? Well, we would pay the tax benefit the world. I'll okay, but the button campaign in trouble now for that very same climate statement. Admitting. Well, we left several citations out of the final version of the twenty two page climate change plan twenty two pages. "LA. Can you take us? Your phone calls in just a moment. I see lines are loaded here, folks commenting on my question. Did the Trump supporter in London have the right to stand and deflate the humongous? Trump baby balloon if a call finishes and align opens up, you can try to sneak in eight hundred eight zero one eighty nine ninety nine a nationwide number eight hundred eight zero one eighty nine ninety nine your thoughts on a Trump supporter stabbing the Trump protester baby balloon. So we'll get you calls in just a second. I, I wanna squeeze in this breaking news in the last twenty minutes or so. The Florida Department of law enforcement, or the FDLE. They put out a news release at three oh, eight eastern time today that the FDA has arrested Scott Peterson for child neglect negligence and perjury. This couldn't happen to a nicer guy, folks Scott Peterson was the Broward County deputy sheriff, the school resource officer and Marjory, stoneman Douglas, high school on February fourteenth twenty eighteen when the former student went in and massacred students and, and faculty and Scott Peterson heard the gunshots gave a bogus story that he didn't know it was coming from inside a building, which is absolute garbage absolute crap. And did not run to the shooter in Virginia Beach on Friday, folks. The Virginia Beach police officers. They rushed that building to engage with that shooter right away. There are other cases and other school events or other shooting events with police rushed in that's how they deal with these incidents after Columbine back in what nineteen ninety nine is. You don't wait. You don't wait for swat. You've got to engage the issue of Scott Peterson was he came up with some bogus story that he thought the shots were outside someone that is a load of crap. I know one a shot sounds like when it reverberates out side versus what a shot sounds like when it comes from inside a building, you're standing, right outside of the muffled sound of gunshots from inside a building unmistakable. I've shot indoors. I shot outdoors. For for decades. And that's why never bought Scott Peterson story and Scott Peterson the share of the, the deputy sheriff the school resource officer if he wanted gone in. How many lives could he have saved if he wanted engaged the shooter right away, and the shooter was then focused on the law enforcement officer versus trying to take out of the students? How many other students and Marjory stoneman Douglas would be alive today? If Scott Peterson Peterson's coward deputy sheriff if he had gone in. So the press release from the Florida Department of law enforcement from just a short time ago. The headline is that FDLE arrest. Scott Peterson for child neglect negligence and perjury share some of this for media released June fourth twenty nineteen the dateline on this is Fort Lauderdale Florida following an investigation by FDLE. Former Broward sheriff's deputy Scott Peterson fifty six was arrested in Broward County today on seven counts of neglect of a child and three counts of culpable negligence and one count of perjury. The arrest comes after a fifteen month investigation into the actions of law enforcement following the Marjory, stoneman Douglas, high school shooting, the FDLE investigation shows former deputy Peterson did absolutely nothing to mitigate the Marjory stoneman Douglas shooting that killed seventeen children, teachers and staff and injured seventy. Eighteen others. Absolutely nothing. I was railing against this. I told you that this happened as well as many other commentators as well. And students. I mean the anger. The absolute spewing hatred and anger that this school resource officer sworn to protect the public and certainly kids in a high school, the fact that he did not go in to that gunfire to track that shooter down, even to distract, you, you get to distract the shooter from taking shots. And other students if he would have gone right in. How many more students could have been saved would still be with their families in their parents today? I've been angry about this, since this occurred, and I'm repeating exactly what I've said countless times on this program while talking about this. The FBI investigation shows that former deputy Peterson did absolutely nothing to mitigate the shooting. According to FDLE Commissioner Rick swearing-in swear. Again. There can be no excuse for this complete inaction, and no question that his inaction cost lives, I knew this all along this common sense. I was pleased the Florida Department law enforcement in conjunction with the state attorney's office conducted a thorough investigation that yielded the arrest of Scott Peterson all the facts related to Mr. Peterson failure to act during the massacre, clearly warranted bowl termination of employment and criminal charges. It's never too late for accountability and Justice. The new Broward County sheriff, Gregory Tony said. So the, the, the report goes on the release goes off. But that's, that's the main crux of the details here. I'll tell you what happened is Scott. Peterson was close to retirement and accrued all kinds of, you know, pension money and he sure made the decision, you know what I'm close to retirement. I'm gonna live out my years after I retire. I'm gonna get probably a private sector job as well as all my pension money flooding in, and I'm not going to risk getting hurt or killed. That is a cowardly action. I'm sure that's went through his head. He needed to storm that building he needs to go in and find those gunshots five shooter and neutralize the shooter and he did not. So I'm glad that he was arrested and charged today on these multiple counts of, of perjury and child neglect, because he failed those kids he failed them. Seventeen people dead and seventeen. Others were wounded because of the inaction of coward. Former Broward County deputy sheriff Scott Peterson. Just a, a nightmare. Eight hundred eight zero one eighty nine ninety nine the nationwide number here on Schnitt. Eight hundred eight zero one eighty nine ninety nine so let's grab some phone calls. Thanks for your patience. I wanted to deal with the breaking news. Sue tell me where I'm going see phones, a loaded here. Okay. We'll go to the Moines Iowa. Your thoughts on now? All the protesters have a right. You can have Trump supporters that have the right to protest for Trump. You have the anti-trump protesters. They have all the right to protest as well. I clearly said that these. Protesters have a right to protest against Trump and of course, in support of Trump. This woman has all the right to protest against yell at the anti-trump protesters. But my position was that she didn't have a right to stab, the balloon to vandalize, the Trump baby balloon, even if you don't like it, and you don't like these protesters doesn't give you right to vandalize this property and the protester, the Trump supporter was taken away by London. Police cuffed and stuffed Tony is who who my grabbing occur who am I granting into Moines Kirby? Gotcha. Kirby is in Des Moines, Iowa. Hi, curvy. You're on Schmidt. Yes, sir. I totally believe in the concept of balloon because I think, Trump is the biggest loud in the history of Laos and his two year old insoles to people in his temper tantrums are awful. I also appreciate the women's passion. If she feels differently she should have a right to of course, express that, but I agree with you. She should not have a right to destroy public property. So you disapprove of Trump, and you like the protest balloon, but and you don't think that the, the protesters should've stabbed the balloon. Right. I appreciate other people's passions even if they disagree with me. Have discussions about that. And you can have a dialogue, and if she's passionate about that. I understand she feels the way she feels I, I can accept that. But I, I agree with you. I don't think she should have a right to just destroy public property Kirby. Thanks for the call. Thanks for the call. Appreciate it. You know, bottom line is I don't support the stabbing the balloon. Now, I might support the bulk of Trump's policies. I don't always agree with everything from dozen how he does it. But I, I don't I don't believe that the balloon should have been stabbed by the Trump support because that's just flat out vandalism. And I agree, as I said several times, this hour, I support with I support protests on both sides of the coin even if I disagreed with the protesters, you have the right to protest. Go to Connecticut. Sue mary. Let's have Mary in Bethel, Connecticut. Hello Mary, you're on Schnitt. Hi. Hi. I agree with you. That it's private property, and they really should have done that. But I'm a total. Trump. This lady wanting to do that. Okay. Okay, you find funny but you. She should not have done it. She should not vandalize the balloon. Thanks for the call. That's pretty much that's position. That's what I have since I heard the story since I saw the video that has been by position that I might support the bulk of what Trump does not everything the both. "What to look for. Gin giving you feel you know, based upon what we found out right after because interfere, but he was re trying to reach out. It was trying to get someone to stop. I. Let me think anybody anybody that posts messages online the way this person, did I think that's a cry out for help. I agree with you there. I took psychology courses in school for several years. And I believe that's exactly what that means. When somebody's. You know, trying to reach out and not getting the help that they want. And then it ended up this way this guy. I mean, there was somebody to call the FBI on their tip line and told them about this person and it went nowhere. There was people. There were people that call the sheriff's office of Broward County numerous times and it fell on deaf ears. Nothing was done nothing happen. And then one day this guy walks in and he just shoots seventeen people. You know, there's so much blame to go around here. Are they getting this? You are not read the total report. But I I wonder within that report if they're assigning some blame in all these areas and say, okay, what's the corrective action plan in each of these areas? Whether it'd be police department would there be the FBI, they do that isn't that isn't happening again that is in fact in the report, the Sandpoint is Bob more than anything. I agree with you it shouldn't happen again. But you, and I both know it will happen again in a different school somewhere else. And I think the same thing's going to happen in the outcome. Now when the FDLE report comes out, which is literally supposed to be any day. Now, that's gonna shed a brighter light on the situation. And then I believe excellent heads will be fallen. You're right. Very charges. Suburban versa is. It is. Regress as a society. Well, the saddest part is Bob we're about a month and a half away from the the one year anniversary. And it seems like we're just yesterday can imagine for those families that seems like it literally was yesterday and nothing not one thing has changed since that day. Pathetic. It's like having all the police cars that were around the school to be a deterrent to protect people. That was just like the first couple of days. And then that's it. What happened to those cops? Well, thanks for the time. Rich, I really appreciate it. Hey, bob. I appreciate you. Thank you so much have a happy new year. Thanks have a good day. Eight seven seven eight fifty five eighty five. So again, the report by the commission is highly critical of Broward County sheriff's deputies who failed to confront the suspect. And of the sheriff whose office did not at the time ever policy requiring them to rush the building where the shooting happened. And this is just I mean, this is mind blowing why would a cop who signed up to be a cop not go and do their job the way this school resource officer did nothing just stood outside at one point. He directed people on the other side to start to do a perimeter around the school people are getting shot just feet away from where he was. The entire report from the FDLE when it comes out. I think. I've spoken to some people that have been interviewed by the FDA for this. And they've told me what they said to the commission, and when you hear when we hear some of the things that will come out in this report about what some of these police officers, did I think they're going to get even sicker than you are now, it's disgusting. Let's take a timeout. You're listening to the rich Steven.
