Solar panels go online in Fayetteville, Arkansas

"On eighty seven acres of land owned by the city. The offense they'll Arkansas. Solar panels absorbed the sun's rays last year the city partnered with the local utility and solar developer on a pair of five megawatt installations which went online September. They now generate enough electricity to fully power the cities to waste water treatment plants. Peter Near Garden. His Fan built environmental director in total. Those plants us about sixty six percent of the total atrocity consumed by city Fayetteville government operations. So so he says. The project takes the city a long way towards meeting. Its goal of powering all city facilities with renewable energy by twenty thirty and it saves money because the city Bai's the solar power at a rate slightly lower than what it paid for electricity from the utility just made really good economic sense for us. It made good energy sense for us and made good political sense for us near and garden encourages other cities to switch to renewables. It's not that difficult. The price of renewals numerals particularly solar has come way down. These types of projects are very accessible and with the right partner. Very doable

Coach Eric Musselman on Kobe and Razorbacks

"We walk into your back. I really delighted to welcome in coach. Eric musclemen from the University of Arkansas. Huge win over the weekend and the big twelve challenge a lot of very impressive. Wins as Arkansas seemingly Back again rolling along some wins earlier over a VALPO Georgia Tech Indiana and a nice run. We we had a guest on few minutes ago covers Kentucky instead the atmosphere At Fayetteville last week when the cats were there was as crazy as any He has witnessed in a very long time coach. First of all. Thank you very much for being with us. And congratulations educations on all you've done. No it's not over but It's quite a start. Thanks so much for having me on Paul really appreciate it before I talk about the razorbacks Certainly grew up the the son of an NBA. Coach you've Treistman head coach in the NBA and an assistant Elsewhere I just the whole world is you know is is mourning the death of Kobe. Brian and we were all interested in your thoughts on spectacular. Life had you know the I was fortunate to work for the Los Angeles Lakers and I was the head coach for their d league team. One Night I came out of the practice facility. We had played a game or games. Were we're actually in the Lakers practice facility. There was only one car in the parking lot. It was Kobe. Bryant's I went to my car. He rolled down his window. Said coaches or anyone else in the building. It was about eleven o'clock at night ten thirty at night. Whatever I said no just the security guards in there and he goes okay? I said Kobe what you could've come in there. You know I was the only we went in there for the last forty five minutes the last hour and he said No. I didn't want anybody in the building when I go in there to shoot in. His focus was incredible. His disciplined as a player was was incredible and just think about the competitive nature of him and just such a sad sad day for the entire basketball community yesterday. Eh and coach. You've lived that life And understand it but You know for such a big league. it just seemed like such such a small family Yesterday when this news broke will it really is. I mean when you think about the impact because when you're either playing in the League or coaching in the League or referee Rian in the League. You have so many stories. I mean there was one night where we had a defensive game. Plan the first quarter we were going to force koby has left the second quarter. We're going to force him to his right right and then he came up right before the third quarter is going to start and he said hey coach what are you gonNa do now play me straight up and then there was. There was a little bit of a pause and he goes. That ain't GonNa work either. Good luck with that. So you know He. He had a personality and just to see since he's retired the relationship that he had with his family. Okay and how much a part of his daughter's life was really really cool but a tragic tragic day for for for the basketball world and certainly for all for all the people that were on that helicopter. Certainly appreciate your thoughts on that. I do want to concentrate on the razorbacks because Your fan base. So we could see it Saturday And we've seen it all year are really excited Just overall thoughts on. I know it wasn't going to be easy and it's not over yet. I don't I know there's a coach. The season has a long way to go but just talk about the journey so far. Yeah we had a great non conference in it and it was kind of like you know the crowds kept building and building. We you know we lost one game in our in our non conference slate had three True Road Games and then once we got to. SEC play the the momentum and the crowds were sold out every weekend the Kentucky atmosphere. I've I've been a part of basketball for really long time. Having been a partner party with with my father. When he coached at the University of Minnesota and they had sellouts there in nineteen thousand seat Arena Williams arena? But I don't know if I've ever seen a crowd with so so much energy and enthusiasm as what we saw when we played Kentucky here and We had a great crowd for our Tcu game as as well and You know the momentum is just continues to Kinda grow and it's been really really need to be a small part of of our fans enthusiasm and at this point Records or maybe a little bit. Deceiving your record is pretty pretty good but there is such a gauntlet Head How do you feel the razorbacks? Our position for the month of February and obviously march will really Paul like I mentioned we. We did our job and non conference and now we're in conference play and it's the same everywhere whether it's big ten. SEC ACC every conference game is really really hard. And there's so many games that come down to the last two minutes and really it's going to be you know. How can we close games? Can we keep road games. Close and give ourselves a chance chance we have a major deficiency on the on the rebounding part of the game and and and we continue to try to figure out a way to overcome that whether it's with three points shooting pace of play right now. We lead the country in defending the three ball. And we have to do that. Because of how small we we are on the interior interior but We feel good where we are right now but we know that there's so much basketball to be played and really you can throw out what's happened right now because because there is still a large portion of of conference play still to be determined as a coach everyone has different methodology in terms of looking at the season whether it's the first part of the non conference and then obviously breaking up what you have to deal with in in the arduous road of the SEC. H- How do you game plan in it back in the off season as you look at the schedule and and what's it like once it gets going. We'll really Paul but we do as soon as the schedule comes out is is I huddle up with a a couple of our staff members that have been with the Nevada. We go game by game win. Loss win-loss just kind of try to figure out what that number would look like for us us at the end of the year right now. We're plus one on what we had done earlier. We don't we don't share that with anybody but but we you know the the goal of everybody not really before you even step on the floor for non conference is how do you get into the big dance. And how are you part of March madness and there's so much to to be played Still and so much to be determined But again it all comes down. I think in conference play. How can you win win the close games because almost every night? You're you know it comes down to those last three or four minutes of a game. It seems like just as a casual fan. I'm watching all the Games on Saturday. And I'm like going consultee. Make a free throw. I know coaches wonder about wonder the same thing don't they there's no question free throw becomes number one free throw attempts become a big part for each team but then converting free throws become a huge part especially in close close games and we've actually improved as a free throw shooting team although we dipped a little bit sense conference play a started. But there's no question all the little things limiting your turnovers in conference play converting so you're free throws not having live ball turnovers. All those things become really really important. PEDESTRIAN QUESTION ABOUT FREE THROWS I. I know it's easy for me to just sit at home with popcorn In in my feet up saying how come how come. They can't make free throws they've been doing this their whole life but explained to the audience. It is why it's not so easy under the under the gun. Well I think one pressure you know anytime you step up to the line. Depending on the time the score of the game fatigue fatigue could play a factor if a guy's played thirteen or fourteen straight minutes and then he goes to the foul line that can that can have a little bit of impact on it whether there's a dead ball prior to you stepping up to the foul line just as you hear a field goal kicker. Mike get iced as a free. Throw shooter get ICED But a lot of it comes down to mental toughness. I believe from the foul line. And then obviously some guys are just better better foul shooters based on rotation and and then it really becomes important that you have a routine every time you step up to the foul line as well coach. I I know that you you knew what you were getting into. And for someone who has coached coach in the NBA. And obviously you're run a couple of years ago and the NCAA. Tournament was epic I I don't need to ask you. How tough the SEC Zia's but we're we're we're you surprised by anything you've seen so far as league play has Got Underway I. I don't think so Paul I mean I knew. Do you know I came back from the from the League meetings in Florida and my wife said how did it go and I said well I looked around the table and I'm gonNA write. This coach has been to a final. Oh for this guy's been to X. Amount NCAA tournaments and then. I said you know somebody in this room is gonNA finish last place. And there's a lot of great coaches in in this league. There's a lot of talented players. You know I kind of knew what I was getting into. I mean spent one years and assistant coach at at Lsu. But I'm I'm such a well coached league and a team that's or league that's full of athletic players that play with with great intensity and that's the one thing. Is You know every night that you play you get somebody going hard. And and there's no gimmes and and that's to be expected at a power five conference and especially at conference like the SEC. Finally I I know what you said about looking at the at the schedule and we won't push you anymore on on what you what you saw the razorbacks finishing but how do you define success in year one You know I think as a competitor anywhere you're at whether you're in the mountain west or you're in the SEC. Want to try to make tournament. And if you don't have that as a goal you know. You probably shouldn't be coaching having said that you know we are realistic that we were predicted. preseason to finish eleventh. We didn't have much respect coming into the season and and there's still a lot of basketball to be played. I mean there's a lot of teams with that three in three record and so every game's important and the one thing that we've done a really good job of Paul just kind of taking one game at a time. I know that's coach. Speak but we really maybe more than than than the four previous years. Since I've been coaching we really have just said. Hey let us worry about the next forty forty minutes on our schedule because this roster does have deficiencies especially from a height standpoint and we dealt with a little bit of small injuries of late as well also. We just need to worry about. How can we play and compete against South Carolina on Wednesday night? Great to have you on. And congratulations on the success. Success Hope soon. Thanks for having me

"Dini ADD John Fayetteville, Arkansas the great KFI. Why go Mark you are goal, my friend. You are gold. Thank you, sir. You know, everybody says invest in gold while they ought to invest in the I'm down here on the south. And I'm getting quite tired of being called a racist. Don't have race body worker Wall Street in New York, but on the south, and I gotta tell you. The north eastern. Okay. How genius were the founders of this country? The when they knew that I award in Arkansas needed a voice. Because what what they wanna do is wipe out that in California, New York control conference. And so I, you know, here's my thing. And the point is you wouldn't have a country. Nobody nobody nobody wants to have the policies that are imposed in these dark blue states in New York and California imposed from the rest of the country. And if you do people are not going to tolerate it. Go ahead. I'm sorry. It's about to be taxes too. And that's what's scary about this whole thing is that the electoral college is actually in the Democrats paper when you stop thinking about it. Because once they take Texas, and maybe Florida it's all over he said that over and over again, but. But if they take Texas and Florida it's all over anyway. Even if you just have the popular vote exactly, that's what is my point. So that's water fording the borders, and you you, and I both know that's water. Texas, even plus even came out and said our goal is Texas in you know, the George sources of the world, they get it. They get this coming at us from all different fronts. Come at us on the electoral college and the popular vote deal as well. So they're gonna end up. You know, Mark. Here's the deal. You're you're you're so intelligent, and you walk the Reagan. And and and search in the best, quote, they've Reagan ever had Brady quotes, or whatever it is. But we're only one generation away from freedom ending. Remember that quote? The last paragraph of my for my liberty and tyranny book. And and that's where we are in. You know, you're kinda like the parents of the kids that wants to go out and party too much one high school you're trying to help America from itself because it will self destruct overtime, if if you're actually helping here's here's what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to create activists had people who agree with us. And I'm trying to create people who are at least mentally intellectually engaged at people who just blow this stuff off. There's no way I'm going to convince the activists on the left of anything. They're not my target. My target is. The rest of the American people about a third of the population. I've talked about this over the years. What about a third of the population that supported the revolutionary war about a third that didn't. Third that wasn't involved pretty much. What's that one third? That cares about liberty. Property rights, natural law, faith, limited government, the civil society. It's that one third. I'm trying to get to each and every night every time I write a book whenever I do my FOX show whenever I do Levin. Tv. Thank you for your call. My friend. Stephanie Saint Leonard, Maryland, the great WMA, Al go. Hi, hi. You may have been a little bit. But I had a a suggested constitutional amendment in the event that there is the convention estates that addresses the problem with the judiciary. But in a simpler way than I think you have proposed. And the amendment would be this from this day forward all federal judges so follow originalism when they're rendering decisions. So you don't you don't think an activist judge would claim that they are falling originalism. I have a better idea. Rather than expecting the very judges who are violating the constitution to all of a sudden, I light bulb go off and say, you know, what they tell me I have to be an originalist. Hobby an originalist because I don't believe they'll do that. I'd rather have another check for our balance in the system, which is why I proposed. I don't believe this has been among the resolutions in any of the states, but I think it's absolutely absolutely crucial. Which is that three fifths of the state legislatures can overrule a supreme court decision if they act within twenty four months three fish is not super duper majority. It's a big enough majority where it won't be used all the time. But still it'll be hanging over the heads of the supreme court justices and moreover. You don't want to thirds because I don't ever happen. And the reason I say they need to act within two years. It's because he need some certainty in the law. I also say that three fifths of the house or three fifths of the Senate can do the same. But it's particularly important with respect to the states. Because I don't think we could have Obamacare's an example today. But if you tell these same judges, I mean they're supposed to be originalists. They're supposed to follow the constitution. Those who defy it. They're not all of a sudden going to say, oh, you know, what? Because you say regionalist I'll be an originalist. I just don't believe that's going to happen. It's too late. Anyway, that's not in any of the proposals. Evily usually all the judges are are actually intentionally they're they're ill. I didn't say all the judges. There's some very good judges. But some of them. Yes. Some of them are activists in robes wrote an entire book on that called men in black, and I even name names. Yeah. Yeah. But you'd be we'd be missing an opportunity to your point of the original question you asked which is what is original. Then define it. You can defy judges or not a debating society, I can define it all I want look at the commerce clause. They couldn't be simpler. So how do you take the commerce clause and then build a massive administrative state through the commerce clause better yet, look in your constitution. Where's the abortion clause? There isn't any what I'm trying to say to you is if people go into this, and they don't have virtue. You can say you must be originalist, but they're not going to be. So what we need is another institution to have a check on that institution. Right now. There is no check whatsoever on the supreme court. And what I'm saying is I really wasn't the intent of the of the framers of the constitution. You can have a check on the supreme court. It should be based on the popular vote. It shouldn't be based on a letting justices or any nonsense like that you should get the states back involved to the extent they're willing to get involved and allow.

Former SMU quarterback Ben Hicks to reunite with Chad Morris at Arkansas

"You may have heard the news recently that Ben Hicks who has pretty much shattered. The records at SMU is now landed in Fayetteville to be reunited with his old SMU, coach Chad Morris. I mean, his resume is unbelievable. He ranks as the all time passing leader. In Dallas last two seasons. SMU he is just riddled the the record book. And now he's back at with coach Marsa, Ben first of all, congratulations. Thank you. Great to have you on the program and tell us what it's been like these last couple of days getting back together. Again, coach Morris, you know, all been crazy. I went on a visit Saturday flew back to Dallas on Sunday made the decision Monday, and you know, it was here Tuesday. So it's been a whirlwind. But it's great to be here song excited. I'm just guessing here. It wasn't easy. I mean, you had such a such a great time at SMU with with coach. And even last year take us through your process and making this decision to end up where you are right now in Fayetteville, you know, I had one more year. And you know, I just I just wanted to explore my options and see, you know, what would be the best option going forward. And you know, it's up on aim in the portal, and and you know, hurt some coaches out, and you know, I thought the opportunity to come back and play for coach Morrison and coach critic was was just something to special. So again, really excited to be here. We'll certainly they could use you how closely were you able to keep up with Arkansas last year while you were playing in in Dallas, you know, obviously, focus on the scene. Focus on what I needed to get done. But you know, I watched a few games. And you know, it seemed like they are in a lot of the games. And we're right there on the cusp of you know, being able to win a couple more. But you know, I think they got the pieces to win here. So looking forward to, you know, working with those guys so. Certainly you played in a competitive league. But I don't I don't need to tell you what you're about to get into the SEC. Well, I know that's what you want. That's the challenge of all young players. But your thoughts on now being part of the you know, it's got a dream. Come true. I've always dreamed about point in the SEC wasn't able to do that coming out of high school. But you know, the opportunity to play one year in this in this unbelievable league, obviously going to be great challenge. But it's one I'm looking forward to and excited excited to be part of it. You know, it's just a great great conference and some specialty apart of so now really look forward to.

"Definitely you're up. Yeah. I'm going there next. It is quite chilly. You know, one point about this weather. I do wonder it's gonna be cold tomorrow night. You wonder if that affects LSU at all, they're obviously, they're, you know, they're young kids. You kind of you get excited. Yourself. Not one of these guys reheat other Joe borough played in weather like this and Arkansas might be a little more used to it. I don't know that it ends up really factor in. But it's when when you don't when you when you're not mentally prepared. And you start losing the weather affection told her. Tokar maybe LSU won't be mentally prepared. I don't know how they could be mentally sharp. I mean they had their season blown to smithereens. The other night, the only thing that some people have said may give them a little bit of energy as still rang very high. But I don't know when you lose Alabama like that there. There's there's no consolation playing for a chance at the playoff. Yeah. I think that's you know, to me I point to Auburn of last year in granted when they lost UCF. They were without carry-on Johnson. They had some important guys out. But still that was a I mean, look say whatever you want about UCF Auburn on paper was a better football shirt in that game. They were able to win the game. And I think a lot of it had to do with the mentality of it. And sometimes you just get beaten. That's why we play these games. But I do wonder about maybe a lethargic start for LSU. I'm not predicting that I honestly think they could come out there. Maybe maybe health to be cold. Cold the cold, although good job tonight. That's your that's your watering hole down there, contributing that, but yeah, you know, it is going to be I think we say this a lot. But this weekend is going to be telling because we're gonna no I think we're gonna know of Kentucky is for real. They they got blown to smithereens by Georgia, but they still have a chance for ten win season. Which would be huge new your six bowl, and all that we're gonna know about Alabama against a really physical D line. They may not have seen a d line as good as this Mississippi State D line. I think a defense as a whole I thought LSU be the hardest one. But the physicality the ability that Mississippi State St. line presents, and then you know, Georgia and auburn's a weird one. We just don't know what Auburn is Auburn maybe t- there that sneaky team that at this point, you know, they're still telling on now. For about six weeks. It's been talking about the second season didn't work against Tennessee. But it did work last week against and if you can get it to work two more times. It's the shocker. Well, in one thing that I liked about last week against an for Auburn as they went back to that tempo. Offense. I think that works for them. I think that doesn't play in Georgia's favorite look Georgia's the better team they should win this game. But Georgia is a team that likes to suck a lot defensively. And it helps them because they are very deep there. But when you're playing a fast offense, it's really hard to get those those guys in there. Okay. Well, one thing you always do here. You did it last week and toes we were coming to this war environment. Is you let us know where we're going next. We are going to Athens next week. We're going to head down there between the hedges to see the BULLDOGS and they're taking on UMass. But obviously at this point, you know, we're in a part of the year. We're now we know who's playing in the SEC championship game. It's gonna be fun to be an Athens. And and to get there. It is it's it's a beautiful place. We love going there. And so can't wait to see all the Georgia fans. And you know, maybe few UMass fans you ever wants to come out to our set. We can't wait to see everybody. It's gonna be it's going to be a blast live in Athens. You and me and the rest of the not above fifty. I'm going. The weather not coming. I should check that right now. Actually, I'm not gonna tell you. It will be the highest sixty two..

"Friday night. Eight we pick on talk fast girl, who was your first second. You saw the the the new the new coming of the game. Most like, you know being in Indianapolis for the champions classic on Tuesday. Paul was just really special and to see those matchups happen to start the season is exactly what gets excited. It. Almost reminds me a little bit of what we've seen in football recently with some big time match ups and big name. But we really lucked out this year in the fact that I mean specifically we get to versus four with Kentucky against Duke. And I tell you what I know that sounds like an over hype. And so I will pump the brakes on it a little bit. But if if do plays the way that they played against Kentucky in that opening game. I don't know who's beaten them. I mean Zion. Williamson is the absolute real deal, and you don't act Golden State, exactly. I mean, you know, whatever, we're we're joking with that a little bit. But there. Zayn Williamson is a unicorn he's not a real person at that size to be able to move the way that he can move. And yes, the dunks get all the pub, and that's what you'll see on the sports entertainment. He's a complete basketball player, and he can really do it all the thing that set out to me before the game. Coach K was saying, you know, the the biggest thing about this team that they all really like each other, and they're all buddies and RJ Barrett. Who's another big time player who may actually be at the end of the day. A better basketball player not quite as flashy Zion. But still incredibly talented, and maybe better they're buddies in in coach case when you look around you might expect some jealousy. You might expect them to sort of say, well, wait a second. That guy's getting all the attention. That's not the case. And I witnessed that firsthand. Now, it could change later on in the season who knows, but as of right now, I don't know who's going to beat that team and Kentucky is a really talented team. So that that wasn't an accurate representation of what Kentucky will be. I think. Deserving a very high ranking, and we'll be in the final four shuck by. I don't know Misha ships Gary well, run into a few times, we've had some very interesting. I think I was talking to you last year when I was talking. And he just such a guy he loves to talk college football with always asking me about shaven and Alabama. But the idea that that I think he's seventy one. I mean, he's dealing with these kids. That's remarkable. They were laughing so hard 'cause he's known for saying that word, yo. So at any point Joe, whether it's y'all don't do that or you do this. And he's always done that you talked to some of his players who played for him years ago. And they say that's always been his thing. He is similar to save in. I think in a lot of ways in the sense that he's always stayed consistent twins. Joe Joe, yo homey, actually doesn't do that. But I do think that I mean, you see these guys that have sustained success, and it all goes back to sticking to what works and sticking to the formula and people get annoyed with the process. But that's what it is. And that's what continues work. It also helps when you recruit as well as they recruited into be able to start four freshmen you're starting those guys because they will be in the NBA very soon, and they're going to be stars and insight on just one more point on him. I believe he's going to be like the next shack or something just from the personality standpoint. He's got this huge smile. He's got this. Great way about him. Coach K said he's like he plays the game basketball with this joy that it's sort of refreshing, and you could see that. So that's exciting for me. Just as a fan of the game to watch somebody like that. We're here in in Fayetteville and man. Nipping during the breaks. I knew that's what you were doing. We're gonna have to go down there and check out with what where you've been going. You're watering hole..

"Because that that situation surprised a lot of people the Florida was lost to Missouri. Teen, we've always always capable of Florida takes on South Carolina. What what's going on with the Gators? It's a lot like what I think we're dealing with. Here is Florida came off in extremely disappointing loss to Georgia. Right where everything was at stake SEC championship, even the college football playoff. They're gaining a lot of high. They're in the top ten people are praising Florida. They're excited. They start off against Georgia. It's going. Well, shoot should've had a touchdown. The first play the game on a flea flicker. And in the second half, George kinda runs away with it. And you could see Florida players soaking a little bit, and they don't show up against Missouri. Probably because they think we're just you know, we're back to the Florida volt we can show of and we can just win this game. And you can't mercenaries good football team is getting better every single week with a very good quarterback and jute lot. Maybe you know, arguably one of the better quarterbacks in the country and a defense that stingy and Florida had no answers. I mean, no answers, but I think was probably more disappointing was I think the overall effort in the grit in the Tonette city of that Florida team. Now, we saw against LSU we saw even at times against Georgia. Mississippi State, we didn't see that against Missouri. Couple other games to get your thoughts on certainly Masui state. You mentioned going to Alabama. We we know we know who good missile defense is. But we also talked to Nick. I'm so cold. I can't talk. Sweet we they almost all Alabama alleged does that factor into their minds. Probably if you really watch films should have beat Alabama last year. Yeah. I think that factor is in. I think Mississippi State is the best match up against Alabama this entire season so far. Now does that mean they could beat Alabama? I don't think so. But I think the way that their front four matches up. They will not get pushed around their linebackers can run sideline to sideline. I don't think their secondary can cover Alabama's receivers. I don't think they can run for a man. A man I don't think MRIs we'll play a lot of man to man, I think to a place off zone and try to tackle in front of them. But what that means is their secondary linebackers have to tackle in space and do a great job of getting these receivers down on one on one situations. And if you don't it'll be a long day, but I think Mississippi State St. fence comes up with some big stops early in the in the first half just keep it reasonable for a little bit. And finally Georgia where we saw them last week Kentucky really put on quite a quite a clinic against good football team. They take on. Auburn which is one of the teams to analyze. They are they on the Frank and pulled that game out up and down nonstop for Auburn. But I think this game will be a lot tougher for Georgia. Then going to Kentucky last week, even though it's at home. I think Auburn is really stingy on defense. They don't give a lot of easy touchdowns. They play a lot of man-to-man coverage. And and they just don't make it easy put pressure on the quarterback. They hit the quarterback lot. And then I'll -fensive -ly they've been hit or miss. But I think they're kind of figuring out a little bit of their stride as they kind of went from a running team a zone read running team to now they figure we we have to be a passing team. And that's what they did the second half against am. And it worked for him. They're able to move the ball down the field. And I think that's a strategy against Georgia. You're not going to be able to match up and run the ball against them. So I think you have to put in hands and let his right arm. Try to lead you to victory. Ten tibo. I'll let you get back. Again. I loan you anything you need the rest of the week. Here's kind I'm loaded with with with Hanover's ten people joining us as he does every thank you, really. Appreciate it. "So I listen, I I think this kid's special. I think he's different. I don't worry about him in the atmosphere. I just I will be curious to see the cold and in the win more importantly because it's very very windy if that affects some of his past. Here's the thing ball my God, the kids got a hose, the it's got a cane, and he'd probably throws it through the win for God's sakes. Fast as hard as he throws the football. It probably like this is no big deal. Just a little walk in the park. David Pollock many. Thanks, great, heavy on Dave. We'll talk to him. You're listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. Join Tim tebow, of course, say Tim get to see you. Stay on warm. I'm doing okay. You look a lot warmer than I feel. Well, you got a t shirt. Well, that's cold. I can offer you any any number of things that I have on here. Let's let's talk a little, but first let's start start here. Because you have a team that hasn't won a conference game. You another team, but still ranked in the top ten coming off of pretty emotional law. You know, you don't know a lot about coming off of emotional losses in college. But it it's a challenge. Especially after what happened last weekend Baton Rouge. Yeah, it's hard. I think mentally it's harder for LSU in this game. That Arkansas it's been a tough year for Arkansas. But this is a rivalry game may being getting better they've shown that the entire year. And I think Morris has an ability to to be a pretty good play caller. I think their best game plan was against Alabama. They had a lot of good place. He plays where it will score points in that game. And I think Arkansas can kind of you know, harbor that feeling a little bit and bring it into this game say we're able to score points against Alabama in this rivalry game. Take it into it. LSU could come in down thinking we're just going to walk through Arkansas C C Arkansas can make it a game. You you you brought like a forty mile an hour wind since you sat out. I wanna ask you about the gangs. We haven't talkies and so especially the Alabama performance. What was your segment of to? And and everything they did it right now, they're just on a different level than everybody else. They really are in everybody wants to make it about two in this offense. And rightfully so I think they're the best offense in the country. The most balance I think to the Heisman leader right now. I think they got three of the best receivers in the SEC. I think they got four really good running backs to all Americans at offense of line. But let's also give respect to this defense because I see fence has gotten so little respect this year. And everybody's saying, you know, the offense is doing good. But did they take the place of the defense? No the defense thing. Go anywhere. They've always been there again gave a couple of points Arkansas, and they were young. But this defense showed on a big stage on the road in tough environment. When their backs against the wall on LSU's driving. They staff. Make place they have a ridiculous defensive front. Their secondary is playing good as LS uses LSU getting all this hype. This entire team from top to bottom, including special teams is playing extremely well. We're you can't look at it and say, it's Alabama. They're close anybody. It's alabama. And then everybody else talking to him about some of the game tomorrow. We talked about this one here. Let me let me go to Gainesville for a second..

"Now as you see that the lack of passing game lasts of passing game concepts come back to bite him. I don't know. How many times they're running to man? Route skies running you know, twenty thirty yards down the field or third and eight and they run a six yard out. And you like Allie you gotta get to the stick. So they're just not an offense that if they can't run the ball. They're very much at a sink, and they haven't run the ball all year long. So it's kinda Jarret stidham if he can get hot, and he can make some things happen. But the the concepts in the passing games never going to be really on fires until they open it up and figure out a few more things they can do really. Well. David you mentioned a strong defensive line, which is exactly one way to describe what Mississippi State has take on Obama tomorrow and Tuscaloosa save in. Of course, I think he says it's every week. It's the best defense we played the he maybe maybe write about the defensive line part of that. There's no this is one of the best defences front sevens in the country and just physical and guys that play the I love the way they play they play hard and they play physical. And they got some nasty to them that get off blocks. They'll stay block long. The only thing I worry about Mississippi State. Well, I mean, there's a lot of things you worry about the most most worrisome thing about their defense will be there back seven or the back shooting their back four can can they do well enough in the past game to slow down to I know, they can be they can be physical defensive line, and they can pick the poison and pick their spots but stop in in the passing game as a whole nother animal. And if you go Mississippi state's offense, they're very one sided I mean, they can run the football really really, well, Nick FitzGerald, another tailback, basically, a big physical guy that runs downhill. The passing game is not good and hasn't developed Paul how many one dimensional teams have a lot of success against bam defenses. Not very men. I mean, you just don't see it very often. So I think it's going to be tough Mississippi. State. The good news is coming off the LSU game which everybody knew was the biggest game of the week last week. And maybe there's a little bit of a physical toll took on. Talking to David Pollack. He is in chestnut hill, Massachusetts, David let me let me go back to that game. You talked about the weather situation. But as you watch Clemson this year in the no you seen them a lot. Too early to worry about it. But how how do you compare? How do you measure them against Alabama? I think I think they're clearly the best teams in the country. And we when you look at a guy like Trevor Lawrence that can spread the field and can make eighteen yard comebacks, look like they're slants and really be exceptionally balanced their team that could give album trouble their team. They can go fast their team. That's really clicking. And here's the thing. You gotta have a great defensive front to play against the RPO game in the ground game of of Alabama. But still get to the quarterback and still be able to pressure. They're the they're the one team in college football that can do that consistently with that front four. So, you know, listen, if you're asking me for the best chance to beat Alabama it's easily Clemson and Trevor Lawrence as he continues to get help. It's not just Trevor Lawrence. We talked about him a lot Travis guy that can make people miss. He can run through contact now starting to read blocks better. So, you know, listen, this is the team that can challenge the tide and they're getting better and they're getting stronger on the offense out of football. And Trevor Lorsch just continues to get better better. Yeah. Let's let's close on on Lawrence goes. He's playing a game tomorrow night in foreign territory. He's he's some your state. For paired for what not so what for Boston College, which is a good team. But for the for the for the environment, the weather, I should say the weather the road games. You know, how that goes? When you go on the road and expectations continued to mouth he looks like a guy that continues to get smarter and continues to understand the offense more and is continuing to improve..

"You try to play that. And then athlete through the season you refocus. So if they can do that because I think their best. When they go four five wide Jarrett is still in NFL town. They still have talent around him let him distribute. I think that's the only way you have a chance. So if they go in there, and they try to run the football just to run the football. It'll be long day. As it will be for you guys. Tomorrow waiting for the kickoff here guys. Thanks, dropping by absolutely listening to Paul finebaum show podcast. Speaking of co weather, I think that would be pretty much where we are going next day Pollock in in. Gracious. It's pretty cold David variety of holiday racist. Of course, I get cold on a sixty four degree day. So this is ridiculous. I look any like tomorrow night for Clemson. Well for Boston College. I think they wanted to be thirty degrees fall and a little snow little some moisture, Wendy. It's really windy here right now, which you know, a lot of these players I can tell you from experience. I remember being in the south and then going up north to the Bengals that I was like, oh my God. What is this this hurt? So I think you know, possibly defects the passing game. Clemson. That's what I think if I'm a Boston College fan. That's what I'm hoping for some bad, windy, cold weather. And so the Clemson bring their game. Daily. We saw the forecast for Athens the forecast pretty well. It's gonna it's gonna be nice little cool. But nothing that will make any impact or difference in the game. But let's talk about that game because a critical game for Georgia. They can't look let up now they they've got the east one, but they don't have a birth punched until they run the table and beat Alabama. Let's let's let's examine this game. As you know, one of the great robberies in college football. Well, I remember last year all they got a mulligan in the SEC championship game of the first time Auburn really handed it to them and kind of change the way they play defense and got them more physical. They changed their lineup Bank Cleveland guard last year. And so I think this'll be very very physical game. You know, Georgia's gotten back to their identity gotten back to pound the rock, no matter how many guys they got in the box and Jake from the last couple of weeks looked Jake from we expected to see to start the season in play in the going to bat and rues several weeks ago when they lost, but he seems to be coming around defensively, they're they're different unit than they were in the year to starting to play a lot more young cats that you can see have some tremendous upside. And if you've watched Auburn, Paul, and I know you have good Lord. Their offense is a hot mess outside the last six minutes. Eight minutes of that an game. It looked like they couldn't even put drives together. All of a sudden they got hot and made some plays. But offer is going to have to figure that out there. They're not even going no huddle anymore uptempo fast anymore. It's just it's been a hot mess. Yeah. I'm I'm interested in what she think. Because on that what what they could possibly do. I mean, this is deceptive team. I mean, they they barely Washington. Those big ones that time. We know what happened last week Auburn, of course, they did lose LSU Lassic and feel so they video now. But what how do they match up with what they're doing offensively against? Would. You just got through saying is really strong Georgia defense. Well, they've got what they've got is one of the best defense is in the country and the physical defensive front seven. But when you look at their offense, it's still the same govern offense we've been watching but just with less dynamic players. I mean, you don't have that way. You can turn hand the ball to that was that was dynamic. You know, carry on Johnson's skews me. You don't have him that you could hand the ball to twenty times. The office of line is not as good. I think would really comes about..

"What were they able to do? They got Ricky Boyden space. They got jail Grady in space that was as creative game plan is I seen outta Joe Craddock in Arkansas the entire year. So they can find ways to get the running back and tight in the bowl in an hopefully capitalize on maybe that emotional hangover could be a different game in that first quarter. Now, obviously, I think LSU's much better across the board. And it's going to be tough sledding. Go you Clayton games. Like that. When when you when you're season has been shattered. How do you individually get out of that it falls on leadership leader within yourself leadership on your football team? And I think you begin to go find micro goals that are still attainable in front of you. So you go little wins in practice little wins in the weight room in the film room. And then little wins on the field when you see your next opponent. So whether it's picking up a first down getting the first point to the game, consistently running the football. You have to find a way to maybe make those things a little bit more important than they have felt for the entire year. Because now those small wins or what you're going to have to have equal some big helps out with that. Although I I didn't agree with where LSU was at when the college football rankings came out at seven, I think they. Deserve to be maybe a few slots behind that. But as LSU you look at that and go we're still at seven we have a lot to play for in this season. A lot of good bowl games to play fan fan commie this week. So we're we're still alive for the for the college football playoff. I asked him to explain and I'm still waiting for the answer. Goals. You could say there's still a lot of good football. A lot of good opportu to play on a big stage. Hetty let me let me hit couple of other games, especially Auburn Georgia because the robbery is self explanatory. You're living proof of that. But. Auburn season is still alive to miraculously help us understand this one. Well, I think when you say the season is still alive. Paul you. Did appreciate the way. Go smells on address this in his press conference this week as in opportunities left for his team as opposed to just maybe games. He feels they may could go win. Because that's what you have to sell it to your football team gigantic opportunities in front of you that if you can win one or two of those, you know, haven't done radio in the state of Alabama for so long. That's what people will remember you by not only ruining your opponent season. But maybe that one checkmark by your season as two things are going to go a different way and things may be looking better for next year. The rivalry means a lot. There's a lot of Georgia players auburn's roster each and every year I played with leered keel. Spikes Carson Balian Antoine Nollet. They didn't understand what the what the iron bowl meant. But they knew it over. And so I think now with playoff implications on the line for Georgia not so much Auburn, it becomes a little bit bigger. But when you dig into the match Paul it looks like the George. Often line is getting healthy in Cleveland may be back injury Thomas semi healthy. And even though the Ma Gallard goes out of the Kentucky game. They're studying this LSU team this week, you watch the first half of that game Georgia pounding that LSU defense on the ground. If they can find any semblance of a run game, which somehow, someway, Texas, then was able to do us week either one of us know thought that was going to be possible. I and less the coaching staff decides in they would've decided this a long time ago to say we are going quick ball distribution through the air. The talent on our offense is in quarterback and wide receivers. And we're gonna change what we do to try to move the chains. I don't see how often stays in this game. And I don't see the coaches making that drastic of a change. That's egos is the biggest hurdle right now for over and that goes into the game plan because they can't run the football right now. But you know, what good coaches find ways to evolve in good coaches realize what your strengths are at the beginning of the season..

"What I'm cold. I can at least warm up you can always add more layers. See I can't take the layers off when it's hot. Yeah. Because that means the ratings will plummet if I go. So that's true. We saw what happened when you put football fans on. She liked it. Okay. Let's let's talk about while. We're here. We're here for different reasons. Yes. Chen KMart earlier in for guy that I'd say the experts believe could be heading toward a to ten season. Eight in the SEC realize three games, he seemed pretty upbeat. When you look at the progress in that the team has made over the course of the year Paul and a lot of times fans just look at the box score. Or look at the score of the game. They're not going to see the growth within the team. And then also when you die sick what he's going to need to be successful from a personnel standpoint. And what he has now Jordan, those are those are two totally different worlds. No. And I think talking to him today. He's realized because he did this before SMU. I think he's realized that you can appreciate the growth in between. And he said when he was at SMU got the end of the season realized we actually did improve a lot throughout that year. Although it didn't feel like it because Lucy's fun. But I think he's realized that even in Alabama game you saw moments where this team was developing progressing. There's players that you can build this this offense this culture around. There's a few and they still need to re. Load. But I think there's some positives to take away. So for for them to win this game tomorrow. It would help shoot didn't show up me mentally. And that is an issue. I think some people are wondering about what are the keys. I think they need to score run the football works in plaques and try to create some space offensively. They're not gonna have a ton of success against the secondary. But I do think there are ways for them to have some success. Dolphins. Have I'm played really well against Vanderbilt two weeks ago yelled, a fro whole tie up front or playing some pretty good football in. They have in Raquin Boyd a dynamic tailback. I think through the screen games. Quick throws. He's got good hands out of the backfield. They can find a way to create offensively now on defense. You had a couple of guys playing good football. Now, John Davis has had a lot of successes that fits a coordinator in this league. But we Kelvin game up front, Drake. Greenlaw scooter hairs a couple of time bekker's playing good football. I think against an offense that struggling defense. It has some individuals that have shown up in big place over the course of the season Arkansas could push Ellis. You'll that you bring up a good point of. Not only not only mentally and emotionally coming off an extra week of rest, which the coaches emphasized to us today. We allowed them to get their legs back usually in a rebuild though. Pound. Those guys get an off week. They didn't do that here and LSU's coming off their most physical football game of the year and Jordan, listen LSU built the entire season around that Alvin game and. We know that we know the score coming out of a game. Like that. If you're what's what's your, what's the mindset, let's start with Joe borough tough as a quarterback you have to completely erase everything that you had built this season to be. I mean, let's be real Joe Berle quarterback. When you're in there in the film room week one week two your thinking about those things are going to be successful in that game week in at LSU. You're thinking about how that's going to stack up against Alabama down the road. So they put everything they had into that game. And that's going to be the emotional part of this this game come out. It's can be colder than they want it to be they might have a little bit of a hangover if they do that. As Cole was alluding to Arkansas can do some things on offense to score points. Now on the other side stories gonna look out there. He's gonna see greedy Williams to see all these guys is going to go. I don't love my matchups, but look at the Alabama film..

"And we have mantra now's every experience matters. And so the minute that our fan base you pull off I forty nine and you come up this road. You're going to be greeted with the happy smell coming into the parking lot. You're going gonna be greeted the same way when you get to the stadium and we wanna make sure regardless of the outcome on the field. It's specially right now where program is we want you to have a great experiences in Arkansas razorback fan and one of the first things that quickly realized as we have an unbelievably passionate fan base here throughout the state of Arkansas, we're one of the few states. It only has one power five team in our state. We don't have any professional teams that we compete with and as I travel this state, we have a passionate fan base. They love their Razorbacks. And we're one of the few institutions that we can sell out a football stadium basketball venue in a baseball venue all in the same year. And so we have a special fan base, but they wanna see a winner, especially on the football field. And that's what we are working toward. Yeah. I don't want to be dismissed the other sports basketball, certainly has had some some really good days. They played tonight in baseball. We all know about yours one of the most memorable seasons in in Arkansas history of not the most, but football's your your cash, Cowan you know, that drives the revenue in it puts the fuel in the engine for the rest of the athletic program. So football program here at the university of Arkansas during my press conference back in December that our football program has to be successful here and order for other eighteenth forced to be successful, and you build that with people, and I think we've got the right person first and foremost leading program, I think he really hired a great staff that stands for the right things. And they're out building relationships with young men and their families that are gonna come to the university of Arkansas turn his program around unconvinced. I know when you got here both you and coach Morris, and you still do, of course. But mean, you hit every every town in Burg in the state, and and what do you learn when you criss crosses state talking to people? Pretty much every day. They wanna feel the part of something special. They wanna feel a part of this program, regardless of what corner the state that they reside. And they want this program to be successful. I mean, we we're in one of the poor states in the country, and we have a hundred and seventy suites in a football stadium and one hundred sixty three of them are sold, and we're to seven, and I think that speaks volumes of what the razorback football program means people across his state, and when we get this thing turned and headed in the right direction, and we start to win seven eight nine ten games a year. This place is really special environment. I coach Mars has his plan. And of course, it involves getting his own people. But as you as you try to measure that and I'm not pushing realize we're still turning the corner Arkansas still turning the corner, but you talk to people every day, they're not happy they weren't happy as year either the year before when when do you know that the program has made the.

"Listening to Paul finebaum show podcast. Pretty nice day. All things considered cool coal, but a nice fall day in Fayetteville Arkansas really one of the most of really attractive parts of the country. If you have never been out here and our next guest hundred year chick is just learning about the areas. Well, because he's the relatively new athletic director one hundred thanks so much for for being here. The thanks for bringing the wind. Picked up in the last thirty seconds. So let's talk about you. Because you you certainly have a background you've been in. You've been a number of schools as echoed in athletics, including Vanderbilt in the SEC, and you came here first coastal, and then you went to the Houston, and then here so you get here in a lot of change at Ardy occurred. The change of director, obviously changed at the football physician talk a little bit about taking over a program, and and dealing with what you have to deal with on a day to day basis unique situation to take over a program. I was hired back on December the fourth and the chancellor asked me to start that day because we in the middle of football coaching search going on. So that was a Monday, I flew Tuesday evening to have dinner with Chad. And Paul Moore's with my wife and flu overnight here to have my press conference on that Wednesday and introduce Chad Moore's football coach on that Thursday. So it was an interesting start at ten, but it's really been you. Need to be able to start within twenty four hours with your head football coach in Chad. Nice share very similar philosophy both in how you raise a family and how your husband and father in in how you build a football program. So it's been fun to kind of lock arms with him and start to build this program the right way. And and I think I talked to some people in town earlier today that in clearly fans want to see a successful program. You also have to be a realist there has been a lot of change here. And when you take over program with the different philosophy. You have to get your own people in jacket, right? And we've got a great recruiting class lined up. You know, want to give credit to the young men in that locker room. I mean, they have bought into coaches culture. They have fought tooth and nail done everything that Tim and his staff has asked for them to do. And we definitely made some strides of this program this year in spite ever to seven records really proud, especially those fifteen years at will honor on the field tomorrow. Laura, and what they stand for in the foundation laid for us to really be able to take this program to another level. We'll talk to Chad later, but there are so many issues that are connected with with every program. But when when the program hasn't won in a while and this one hasn't. What does that? I know. It's an opportunity, but it also presents challenges attendant shops other things are adversely affected. So how do you approach that? Well, you know, the first thing we've done is. We've established a unit that just focused on the experience of our customers each of our been used with Pacific football..

"There's a lot to play for their if you're offered a year ago. The first time these two teams played Auburn was able to put Georgia in obvious passing situations they dominated the point of attack. Georgia won the ball actively Jake from had throat football awful lot of third longs. That's not the recipe that Georgia wants now if Georgia can run the football effectively, which if you've looked at auburn's defense, they should be able to do then I'm going to be real real curious to see how Auburn hold up on the back end because if George is able to throw the football when they want to not when they have to that. I could see a lot of explosive plays coming from this George offense. But not if they don't get behind the chain. Time before you go, and it gets them fell on what maybe the biggest game of the weekend. Clemson at number two heading to Boston College. We've seen Clemson have trouble. Sometimes in the past they lost at Syracuse last year. What what's what's there danger? Look like tomorrow night. I think the danger is that the physical nature of Boston College their team what the temperature's going to be like what the environment's going to be like the fact that there's gonna be a lot of bumps and bruises for both teams coming out of this game. I think sometimes those are advantages for Boston College in a matchup like this because they're not gonna match Clemson speed athleticism. They're not going to be in a position of maybe getting a track meet with Clemson and keep up tit for tat. I think if you're if you're Boston College you've got to run the football in downhill matter at the point of attack on this Clemson defense, try and neutralize some of that athletes is you're not gonna be able to run the ball laterally sideline to sideline if you can run it down hill, and you can sustain dries you keep that Clemson off. Pence on the sideline. The question for me is can Boston College score. If they sustain drives. Can they score the red area because Clemson really doesn't nice job of scoring when they get down there. Boston. College would have to match that have a chance to win. Tom Logan and Bill in Gainesville for the chef Carolina Florida game. Tom great to have you on talk to you next week. Always a pleasure. Stay Warren Powell, you.

"I start hearing any lip at a, you know, I don't want any sympathy. I just wanted to share to over. Tom. Let's talk about this game tomorrow. Because certainly the Gators have have multiple woes at the quarterback position. What what's it look like for tomorrow? Now that Trask is out. Sleep a Franks is obviously going to get the start. And I think went when you talk to Dan Mullen, and he goes back, and he reviews the tape this past week and everybody here in this building was so fired up about Cal Trask and him potentially being the guy. I don't know if Dan Mullen felt like there was that big of a difference in performance when you went back and studied the tape and actually saw how both players great it out. Now with Cal Trask being out. Now that puts Emory Jones in a position where they can start to make some decisions not only now but for the future if they start to play him in play him considerably. I think you're going to do throughout the remainder of the year which is going to count four bowl game. If for to confine themselves inside the top twelve they're looking at a New Year's six bowl game. They need Felipe bay francs or combination of fleet bay Franks and every Jones to start producing in protecting the ball. Because this this team has such a narrow margin of error the first six weeks of the season trading turnover. Creating negative plays avoiding turnovers on offense. The last two weeks. It's really been the exact opposite. And they're not good enough to overcome those types of things so Neak fleet bay Franks to perform need every Jones to come in and give them a spark as well. Talking to Tom Logan, Bill, Tom. We'll talk about the other side, South Carolina. It was a team we expected to really have a good season. They got run out of town by Georgia. They had a couple of other close losses. But they've also had some narrow wins and they are still alive for a reasonably good season. What's the state of the game cock program going into tomorrow, probably playing with the most confidence they've had all year going on the road. I know is against that old miss defense. But South Carolina has started out very slow on offense in the majority of their games. They came out last week in family started hot and it created momentum. It allowed them to close out the game. In fact, if you look at the injuries that they've had on defense and you look at their overall team production. Sometimes it's amazing that they're fielding team. They're going to be in a position on Saturday against Florida where they could have four true freshmen on the field at the same time at all four secondary spots. That's how thin they are right now. So. Jake Bentley's playing well, if South Carolina doesn't turn over the football. There are pretty good football team. If they do they become a very average football team. I think that's why there's such similarities between South Carolina and Florida's programs right now. Tom. Let's take a trip around college football starting in Tuscaloosa, Alabama coming off of its most significant win of the year. Mississippi State trying to stay on somewhat of a row what gives in Tuscaloosa tomorrow afternoon. Well, I do believe that with Mississippi State on defense. They're going to create some problems with their front seven. The question is can the back end hold up. I don't necessarily like the matchups between the weapons of Alabama in the defensive secondary. Bob shoop knows that he's got a special unit to deep in their front seven. And if they can try to get ala bam off schedule, you know, you can't allow to to sit back there and have three seconds four seconds. Six seconds. You have to get an his face you have to get him off schedule. So that they can't just kill you with the one on one match ups that they have significant advantages with toy look at it for Mississippi state's defensive perspective for Mississippi State on offense. They cannot afford to be one dimensional..
