But I do know that if Joe Biden repeatedly has claimed that he's never spoken with sun about doing business overseas, which we all I think, if you apply common sense think is improper. At the very least. He's not being factual truth and we had a miss. We can all agree that the Trump is always factual. Well, here's here's the thing that roof, so we had an 8000 word piece in The New York Times about all of the influence peddling that's been going on with the Trump White House and how Trump won shook the hand of some buddy from Romania, and that was access. We read anything in the New York Times about Hunter, Biden and the fact that he was able to Ah, get access to his father, the vice president by picking up $50,000 a month from some company in Ukraine to ever do anything about that. Trump hosted the event at his golf club a day before he tested positive for the Corona virus, potentially exposing more than 200 people in attendance. Governor Phil Murphy says there's no evidence the event contributed to the recent up taking cases. But he told CNN that Trump's decision to come to the state or hold big campaign events is reckless. You know, knowingly traveling to New Jersey when there was known exposure to folks who were covert positive is not part of that rule rule book. I just went through a minute ago. "Good Morning New York. This is the cat's table. Tronc CATS Titas here. What's going on in New York? Well the Gentlemen. We have is no better to ask that question than anybody else. We have a chief of patrol and chargeable operation of NYPD. Fausto be chopped and he's born Dominican Republic came here nine years old twenty one years in the NYPD and now the highest ranking Dominican. Ever for this new position a good morning chief. How are you this morning? Good Morning John. Thanks for having me on really appreciate. I'm doing well. Thank you These are interesting times I would say times at us. City and Nypd have never faced before. Tell us how you feel about it. What's going on. Look I mean you know surely is extraordinary time for this city. Unprecedented if you will something. We've never at this magnitude face before and we've been through a lot in the city over the last you know two and three decades and historically as well but there's no doubt in my mind that New Yorkers and certainly the men and women the fifty five thousand strong civilian and uniform are resilient We'll fight through this just like every other New Yorker and We'll recover and I think all the men and women of the NYPD for what they've always done those that have come before us and certainly those that are doing the job day in and day out out in the street right now. They have do things that Darren countering. They have to go into people's apartments. See if they're alive or dead. After we removed our police officers. He clipped the Dad. The right equipment though. Do you feel comfortable on that or do we need. We need anything additional. Look I mean this is what we're fortunate in the NYPD that will well resourced Not only with personnel but but now with equipment and if you look at the totality of where we stand today in terms of personal protective equipment and I'll throw some numbers at you. I in terms of gloves and ninety five match surgical masks as we stand this morning we have issued over half a million gloves gloves to our police officers and civilian members out in the street close to three hundred and fifty thousand and ninety five mask. Overlay that with three quarters of a million surgical masks over nine thousand disinfectants spray bottles. Over three hundred thousand individual wipes and over seventy eight thousand bottles of liquid hand sanitizer and one of the reasons we can do. That is yes. Certainly as a well resourced police department but also really due to the generosity of New Yorkers and specifically the police foundation if you look at March thirty first and the Police Foundation private donors and generosity has has always been intricate it with a police department but they they will able to purchase an additional hundred fifty thousand masks pair of gloves and one hundred fifty thousand packets of hand sanitizers so much like New Yorkers who come to precincts and just bring ten twenty fifty master and give them to all police officers and all civilian members the partnership that we've had and continue to have with the police foundation certainly helps us maintain those resources available for for the men and women of the NYPD. I know Susan Birnbaum visit visit terrific job and Putting together resources from the private sector and Rick sure a police officers prepared now with all the problems that we've had lately with the new bail law whic rectors island with the people from rectors being released on a street Sir with the virus Tallahassee kind of problems that we're countering W- on the streets of New York well where we stand currently We're still up about six percent in crime for the year to date and that's up jet as of January first took today where we're at. And listen there is certainly a humane factor to this. And when you speak about rikers island and we have to understand and be compassionate about every human being but we also have to a public safety agency. We really have to balance that with the safety of every New Yorker and certainly some of the victims that have been victimized by these people so it is a delicate balance We are a position based organization as you as you very much. Well are aware of John and we will continue to ensure that the safety of every New Yorker remains on our top priority. The other problem that necessarily problem the homelessness and Subways People WanNa feel safe when he had to subway system. How is that progressing? Well as you can see it as well reported. Ridership has has decreased throughout the subways. But one thing that had not decreased is our presence in the subway systems Every day every morning afternoon night in the wee hours of the morning you will see our police officers president. I mean you look at what just happened over. The last couple of days off police officers arresting individual who was responsible for pickpocketing. Somebody on the subway so our transit police continue to Protect every subway riders certainly the employees that and and New Yorkers that traveled to and from all these central workers everyone who takes the subway systems. So we're out there. We continue to be out there and A police officers down. There are a if I may say a really really good job. Well what else would you like to tell all? Do you up his. We talked about to transit system. We talked about the streets of New York. we've talked about the police. The police people be ready for active private homes. What what else would you think we should be? Well I think certainly in the first thought in my mind is really to thank every New York and so please every New Yorker to keep our families. The memory of the twenty seven members of the service both civilian and uniform that have passed away in the last few weeks due to corona virus and some of the complications associated with this. Oh first and foremost I'd like to really ask every New Yorker To keep them close to their hearts and their loved ones and families in their mind And I really WanNa thank every New Yorker for the support that you give men and women in the police department. And I'd be remiss John Pipe. Frankly debated really. Didn't think and thank the men and women who day in and day out in spite of them being ill I mean we had over four thousand uniform that civilian members of this of this department who test positive for Ovid and over sixteen hundred of those have come back to work already. I mean think about the resiliency of of of human beings of this organization of the civilians and up the police officers of every rank and detectives. That do this job day in and day out and who continue to do with despite of everything that's going on in the city and in the world and for perspective you see it as well as as I do but let me just highlight a couple of things that that are. Police officers are still doing out in the street. If you look at the end of March or March twenty nine and we know there was a tremendous Backlog with With so many people call nine one one and and calls with with people you know either delivering babies with two police sources offices Teresi inferior. You know help deliver a baby boy up in the Bronx and the four seven in the evening wolf section up there. If you look which has happened the last few days I mean from from April eighth to April fifteenth in the four six preaching in the Bronx again. Our anti-crime officers still recovering illegal firearms in four separate incidents for six different individuals and just a couple of days ago. They responded to to a call of shots being fired in the middle of the street at eight at night and Bam. You only encountered the individual in possession of that gun and had tremendous which rings ordering him to drop that gun and safely at them and remove another gun and another criminal off the street. I mean these are the stories that that are not heard or untold. Sometimes I wanNA thank you for giving me nothin the NYPD. The opportunity to get that word and I can sit here John and and beyond the beyond this call with you for hours from Staten Island to Brooklyn to Queens to Manhattan in every borough of the city or men and women are doing short and every work and it's not just about police work. Where police officers are getting word? That's some community members Elderly can't go out and get groceries and our police are hand delivering some of these work these groceries working within the community to ensure that. They're safe I mean it. It is really Extraordinary what this city is going through in the world but we're really blessed in this city and in this organization to have men and women who are so passionate who are so dedicated to ensure that they do.
