"But the contract details that I found interesting are he gets the sixteen million dollar signing bonus and then the first year like they often do with these things for salary cap purposes. He he'll make seven hundred twenty thousand dollars this year next year. It'll be nine million year after that fourteen twenty twenty three and then a thirty million dollars team option. And when I looked this, I wondered to myself, I'm not sure why Carson Wentz agreed to these terms like if you're gonna backload it that much, and you're gonna make the team option thirty million in the six year while you're sitting there waiting to see if he's going to prove himself after injury. I thought Philadelphia did great to get him sign. Wind for that. I, I'm surprised that he would sign a contract, that would be so backloaded that it would give the team that option at thirty million six years from now, I guess it is pretty surprising. It all has to do with the injuries though. It's not performance. I mean the last two years he's had fifty four touchdowns fourteen interceptions. One hundred percent. Why did Carson Wentz agreed to these term injuries though? I get the sixteen million dollar signing bonus as you pointed out, but it has to be injury. The average quarterback in the NFL make twenty million dollars a season. Like isn't that the going rate for one season of average quarterback what's guaranteed money on that because maybe made some concessions, because they made some guaranteed money? And there's always the option to restructure the contract, which is why primarily you see a lot of backloaded contracts at that position. I think Tom Brady's restructured his deal every year year, the last fifteen years, he really has because he's not the big earner family. Sounds like Carson Wentz needs Rich Paul. Oh there. You areas STAN Van Gundy, again still spicy about the age. I am. But listen. So Now, Dan, I agree with you. Why did he agree to those terms? But if you have an agent that's really aggressive, whether it's Rich Paul. Or as you pointed out, Scott Boris David Faulker, whatever then those guys are vilified. I mean, where's the line here where it's okay for an agent to be aggressive for his player? To get a contract. Where's the line and considering how much Carson shruggled comprehensive to before the ACLU injury getting some long-term security in a contract, such that it is, is probably not bad advice, because he wasn't the same guy. Well, let me ask you this. Is it released the Durant? Then though, what do you do stand? You opt in for thirty one million dollars, given the history of that injury on someone of that size or do you, you know, it was reported the other day on get up that three NBA teams are be would be willing to offer him the max even if he sits out next season? What's the smarter play for Durant? Is it to opt in for a year and rehab, or is it just take the guaranteed money? Why would you opt in for a year that I don't get you're gonna be in for a year? He's gonna play for six and a half million dollars less or not plays going to sit out and make. He's gonna know he's on a set out and make thirty one million dollars. Now. Yeah, but he's, but why not sit out and make thirty seven million dollars. Why would you take? Six and a half million dollars less. And when people will give you the full, four year max now I, including probably the warriors. I mean, why would you. Why would you do that? Why would you take less money right now? And go into a more uncertain market the following year. I don't I don't understand that thinking at all I would say if gonna said said and collect thirty seven right? I mean yeah, by the way with winds. It's seven point nine million dollars in guarantees sixty six million fully guaranteed at signing. That's why took the deal. Yeah. But sixty six million is full NFL record though. Is that the guaranteed no Kirk cousins entire contract was getting this from CBS the hundred twenty eight million dollar extension containing an NFL record one hundred seven point nine million dollars in guarantees would sixty six billion fully guaranteed? I don't get what that mean. Sweet guaranteed or fully, Gary. If it's not fully guaranteed. Okay. Gary, I'll put it on the poll is if it's not fully guaranteed. Is it guaranteed at lebatardshow? I'm went stand on that one. I know he's cantankerous..

Someone someone please take that commercial in the scene from naked gun. Get it. God that would be hilarious. If you haven't seen it. It's a it's a banquet and the NFL Commissioner's kind of doing some kind of blowhard thing. And all of a sudden utter chaos, marshawn Lynch. Everything off by leaning over trying to grab a case a cake. The football falls off and they start passing the football around. But it's got number. I like it when he won't throw the ball throng receiver. Yeah. I saw one of your guys was in there too. Right. I don't remember who was in. There was Rigaud in there. I don't think so wasn't he in there? I don't think. So that would be the thing is to find out list all the players that Faulker, Bruce because there is no Kurt Warner. And were they all there at the same time. I don't know the answer to that either. I would assume not they probably had to have a lot of. And I have looked much like found out the answer. If if what's her face and Jeff bridges were in the same room for the still Artois, and I I have I only watched the the NFL when wants to go back, and I'm sure there was probably a lot of stuff about it on the internet. But what what else other commercials, July Kristie I liked that one. And I liked the mic Oltra pure gold. Is that because you liked the product or because you like the commercial commercial Zoe? What's her name is? No, no, no, no, Lenny Kravitz, his daughter. So. No, that's not who it is a bigger name is. Oh, yeah. I think so too ground. Squirrels Zoe Saldana girl. Yes. It's in the nature and she talks into the microphone real quietly. You didn't see this? I didn't like that was that was she's out in the woods in the jungle. It was really cool. And they have a really neat new. And I I actually kinda like the planters guy. Yeah. I do too with Charlie Sheen. I thought it was great. I have the entire list. I have the entire list of who is in the NFL players commercial. You do any Redskins thirty people. No, no, Joe. No, no, Joe frozen. We meet why wouldn't they have Joe is men in there because he's not going to hall of fame, and he's he won one Super Bowl in an MVP. And that was waiting a Super Bowl isn't enough. No, not going. Mark Rippin would mean either. Vince Farragut Melvin Sfeir coma. Lost the Super Bowl. So all the people in that commercial are in the hall of fame Smith. Who singer? "And I haven't been able to do that a lot this year. I couldn't do it when the ravens raped us. It was a year ago when the ravens raped us last year in the playoffs playoffs. I didn't watch it for like three fucking days. When the Lakers beat us and game seven, you know, when they're they're twelve man came off the bench with those striped shirts and just start fucking Colin fouls and technical fouls and all that shit on never get over that by the way. I didn't watch it for like fucking. I couldn't I couldn't even watch TV because I live in Los Angeles. I had closed the windows Lakers Faulker at deal with that. And then this one I've had three bad things. Come in threes, right people. I don't believe in that either. You just start recounting after three. And this is one of them. I just I just could not watched. I still have not watched one second of ESPN I flipped by real quick with with the with the mute button on if there's a game on I watch the game. But I walked by TV and I saw. Rex Ryan doing the press conference. I only heard a couple of things, but he had a genuine look of joy in his face. And for half a second. I was actually somewhere in my jet Hayden mind, happy for the guy like motherfucker, he did it and he fucking did it that son of a bitch. Now what I might be a concert. I can't take it to the level of truly wishing that level of misery. You know, they haven't won since nineteen sixty nine me be honest with yourself. This is I think when you realize if you're a problem. Fan where you're taking to to the point where you're really just like the point that I've taken it where it's just no fun to be a sports fan. Will you literally take to the point where you don't want? Like, I remember like the probably age like eleven years after the Red Sox won in two thousand four every year praying for the Yankees to never win another fucking World Series. Like that wasn't going to happen. You know, two hundred million dollars every fucking year on the table. You know, plus a fucking great organization is going to happen. "To achieve their full potential, you need something to act as a universal repository for all this data. And the iphone and apple could easily do it. It's gigantic opportunity, maybe one of the largest total just markets out there. But apple wants to become universal health. Records provider to be the handshake between save the watches data in the system. They're going to need to break into this market. Big in the best way to do that is by Quiring the best. Epoch why them and not the other guys? First and foremost, they're going to want a player with scale, which means either Sern rapid second. Epoch has the best mousetrap. Isn't that Apple's way they've been named number one? So if we're sweep by class research for eight years in a row, there's no reason apples to go with an inferior provider. That's not their style. They might as well. Buying a best of breed. They can certainly afford it in the best breeders. Epoch third integrating epic would be a simple process in integrating say, sir. Epoch has always been privately held. They built their whole system for the ground up. No acquisitions that means if apple buys the newbie some degree of consistency during the integration process now. I have no idea what it wants to be able to be a seller. I dunno where apple wants to be a bar but apple. One hundred twenty three billion dollars in cash is bliss Denver, which means they can certainly afford it bent the epochal by. So what so would epic sell? Why listen to be on this epic getting this private coming that picks founder and CEO 's Judy Faulkner, she owns forty three percent of the company, and she's now seventy five years old in the past. She very matter of factly said that epic was not going to do it IPO. Now, if she wants to retire with the bags telling her company apple be a good way to do it, especially because the deal like this one could potentially be revolutionary for the healthcare sector. She wants to do that. And so does Tim sooner or later somebody is going to do this. I'd much rather have apple take control of our health records than any other gigantic tech company. Apple actually cares about protecting your privacy. They would go to the end of the earth to do. So the customers that important. They're the perfect fit bottom line with I phone sales slow apple needs to do something that jumpstarted stock price in the service revenue stream, I think a big acquisition that bullshit service business would do the job and by. "Big measuring stick coming up for them against Golden State on Tuesday. We'll be doing the NBA cast gonna do a little bit of a different experiment here with will probably focus mostly on Golden State in Denver. But I think we're going to just skip around leak past gonna try to do it red zone style. And see what that's like it'll be a little bit difficult for people seeking up over changing the channel all the time. But we're just experimenting here. It's a new medium, and hopefully, we can get some feedback and see whether that's worth doing as opposed to. Just focusing in on one game for Denver four point nine. That rating is seventh in the NBA six ranked offense not a tenth that in defense. We talked about their defensive struggles with which you're gonna talk more about it in a second. Here. They do project for fifty four wins second in the conference, and they will be making the playoffs barring an unforeseen calamity. So you wanted to talk about just where they are here. Overall in the west hierarchy am talk a little bit about their defense. Yeah. So Denver if they're in a pretty good place at you know, we're about the halfway point in the league in the year right now, they're five games ahead of the four through six teams in the Western Conference in the loss. Call now's before tonight's action. I think at least one of those teams lost on Monday night. And that means they have a pretty good shot of hosting a playoff series this year because even one of those teams, you know, they they would have to fall pass two of them to in order to to be the five seat. And that doesn't you know that doesn't guarantee that you're gonna win the series Portland contest that obviously. But they're in a really good place and something else that was interesting is that fivethirtyeight gives them substantially lower finals entitled odds than the other teams that they project at the top of the west some of that is they have some severe depth things right now. And they're still getting all these guys recovering from injury. I don't know how their model accommodates that in. So we'll we'll just see what that. And then the last thing I'll say before move on is that as of this morning, they have a one fifteen point four defensive rating with Yokich on the floor and Millsap off which is tenth percentile. It was actually doing better midway through Millsaps absence. And then if it kind of fell hard, and it is also interesting that the minutes with Yokich and a traditional power or in a powerful like Lyles or even want show. Those minutes are awful defensively in the stuff with Plumlee was actually quite good. They had a one oh seven defense him, which is fine. An A-plus fifteen rating so far in those minutes overall for the season. So it's worth watching. You know, Yokich has made some big strides and Millsap does work. You know, he he accomplished a lot of the goals. But I think. It is another data point on the idea that as good as Yokich is Ben having another support police. There is useful. Especially considering Harris was out bunch of this time. Do you? And there have been times when that Plumlee Yokich lineup has looked pretty good. And he is a decent defensive replacement for Millsap it. And as you get this point in time Millsap does Evan theory three point range, but he really just doesn't hang out there that much out teams really guard him out there. So I don't think that the spacing downgrade from Millsap to Plumlee is that significant and they're definitely are teams were with yoga in Palmdale. You're just going to be too big and slow, but they're not that many of those even in today's NBA, even when you're spreading things out even with questions of whether the big bang can have the same defensive impact as he used to these days more size of the Spurs of Jones to Ben Faulker. Rugged piece on that last year more size generally means more defense, unless those guys are just absolute noodles. And so there's a place for that lineup. Is there against the best teams? Can you?.

Guy says, fuck, but he's also been. He's been very came after Zan ruthlessly came after everybody. So so let's see what this guy's tweeted giving five. He didn't get him fire. He just made those tweets, fucked amount man. That dude. Sure. Is there waking kick in the nuts, right? But I mean, but again lost his. If you're in the game, if you're in the game and you're assassinating the people, what's good for the goose is good for the gin. So Jerry seinfield says, who I fucking loved. I didn't read the jokes with their jokes. It doesn't matter. I guess Roseanne Barr thought she was being funny, but it was funny and the -fensive and not funny then it's not a joke. See, Roseanne's was really a joke was in, but she's a comedian. But any comedian that doesn't stand that they make your Finnish anyway bar was also fired from Disney week for gun Seinfeld gave his thoughts. It seems like you don't need to murder, so that's committing suicide. I thought the fine was overkill. She's already dead. Wow. Jokes are not real people assume that when you say something that you believe it, it's purely comedic invention. You know, I do this whole bit about pop tarts and how much I love him. I don't love pop tarts, just funny. It's funny states I sit. I don't know. James Gunn. I don't know if enough about this, but you know what I do know is there's a ton of people sticking up for..

"And kinda take advantage of that market inefficiency and still win that way i mean i don't know the answer to that i don't know what they think but that will be interesting to see what they think as the series as the un season was alone no i think they absolutely can win that way and ben faulker a writer i really responses talked about how playing with two bigs actually works better for most teams defensively to traditional bigs just on offense you don't have as much spacing or or skill but that the spurs they have enough individual guys that they be able to make that worker they've got big to at least the concert amid ranger and that you up to guard but the problem is that i don't think that that works in against golden state and i think we've really there's of this dichotomy and maybe houston will fall into this category as well maybe cleveland is at this point is wobbly teams that are just so turbocharged offensively that you just need more mobility more switch ability on the permanent where you just you're going to give up a million threes to these teams or or you're going to give up a lot of shots at the rim and so there is now this dichotomy to me more so than ever before of what it takes to compete against the absolute three four five best teams in the league and what it takes to b good in the regular season i think the spurs philosophy is proven to work extremely well in the regular season at i expect him to be a regular season juggernaut again but perhaps not you know they lost to okc the year before me dinette quite as much at lettuces them and then obviously you know were over match against golden state last year even though you know they dig.
