'Coming 2 America' Goes Heavy On Nostalgia

"Too heavily on nostalgia. Unless you're a huge fan of Eddie Murphy's classic 1988 film coming to America, and lots of people are there's not going to be a lot for you, and it's less than inspired sequel Coming to America. We celebrated her 30 years absolute and prosperity. 30 Years of service. Well, great nation on 30 Years off Delicious fast food. The new film begins with Murphy's Prince Akeem Joe Fair, opening a fast food restaurant called McDowell's in the African Country of Amanda Devote ease of the first movie. No. This chain is owned by Akin's American father in law, played by John Amos, who denies his business is in any way a rip off of another well known burger joint. They've got egg mcmuffins way that a mixed up in this way are also celebrating my new beyond big mix burger, So there's no meat. There's no meat. Maybe we're getting much better with Pepsi Call Max here are subtle as a sledgehammer. This scene mostly gives us an excuse to see Amos and Louie Anderson, who also appeared in the first film, The Story of the original movie was a black centered fairytale. Murphy's a keen came to America, Queens, New York, of course, tow avoid an arranged marriage and find true love in the new movie. After the death of his father, King Akeem discovered he fathered a son unknowingly in America. Teams return to Queens brings one of the Sequels funniest moments when he revisits a local barber shop where movie magic allows Murphy and costar Arsenio Hall to play multiple parts. Just like in the first film can't be both famine and blood. Damn, Nelson Mandela and Winnie just discovered that I may have a bastard son here in this land conceived during my last visit. How much data supports you getting from the King pays no child support. No time for 30 years and you came back. You're the damn it. Comic Jermaine Fowler plays the sun. Lovell Johnson, who brings King a came home to meet his mother marry played by Saturday night Live alum Leslie Jones. My African I told you he was gonna come back. So you know this man. I definitely know this man. I know this man all the way live much as I love Leslie Jones, she and levels. Other American relatives, including Tracy Morgan, as his uncle Come off is uncomfortable stereotypes as King Akeem introduces his son to the moonda and pressures him into an arranged marriage. Comedy gets clunkier and more predictable, like a Mel Brooks style parody of the Black Panther of The Lion King and the first coming to America. Ultimately, this coming to America is mostly an excuse to bask in the glow of characters who's shown so much brighter and distinctively. 33 years ago. I'm Eric Deggans. "The minute with kevin mason came across an article the other day on the website. Best life that we'll just. The title made me curious. It talked about the most unpopular soda. And it's not in terms of. That's out there that nobody buys. They took the most popular sodas in this case. Thirteen top sodas and determined the most unpopular. Course they got some algorithm they threw together and some stats and some data and figured out a way to create the most unpopular soda shirt. Could it be coke pepsi. The most unpopular diet coke. It's not something that people don't drink. It's something that people drink but don't like the most unpopular. I've never heard it phrased that way before but it kind of makes sense when you take the most popular things in the world. What's most unpopular. What's the most unpopular fast food franchise. Mcdonald's everybody eats there but nobody really likes it. It's more about convenience. It's more about necessity than it is about liking it most unpopular something. That's popular yet. Who Wins Or Loses If There's An Increase In The Federal Minimum Wage?

"The covid relief bill moving through congress includes a higher minimum wage for someone like lisa harris. Who works grocery store outside richmond. Virginia that make a big difference able to afford the things that i need to get by day to day without having to ask one ability to feel that i am a contributing member to byatti. I mean they say thank you and that were essential. That were heroes. But we can't feed our families off of being heroes scaling up from seven. Twenty five an hour to fifteen dollars. An hour is still running into resistance though and testing democratic unity in congress. David wessel is following. The debate is of the hutchins center at the brookings institution. David good morning. Good morning steve. So there's always case made against raising the minimum wage. We're told that if you raise the minimum wage employers are just going to hire fewer people. What's the evidence here. Well textbook economic says if you raise the price of something there's going to be less demand for it. In this case less demand from employers for low wage essential workers now the question is how many winners and how many losers one influential estimate comes from the congressional budget office. They estimate that by twenty twenty five which is when the wages supposed to get to fifteen dollars. It would mean twenty. Seven million people would be getting a raise. Nine hundred thousand fewer people would be in poverty but one point four million fewer people would be working or not having got hired on the other hand economist. Aaron debate at the university of massachusetts at amherst has been looking at what happens when states raise minimum wages and he argues that the latest evidence suggests that. Cbo is overestimating the ill effects of raising the wage. A fifteen bucks okay. So a lot of people benefit. Some people may be hurt. But there's an argument over how many people are actually hurt. That's the point of view of the employees. What about the employer. business owners objected. Here well it would raise their payroll costs for sure now. Some employers would may discover that they have better workers or less turnover so it might not hurt them that much some would suck it up in the form of lower profits somewhat. Pass it onto their consumers in the form of higher prices and some would get by with fewer workers are cut the hours of their workers they would clearly be very painful for some businesses and particularly for some businesses like those in the fast food industry that already been hit hard by the covid pandemic but really interesting new academic paper that looked at ten thousand mcdonald's outlets many of them in states or cities that have raised. The minimum wage found that nearly all of them raise prices to cover the extra costs and interestingly it found that despite higher labor costs they didn't more of them didn't install high-tech touch screen ordering that potentially saves labor which suggests that consumers would pay but workers would benefit as well. David you've referred a couple of times here to the fact that some states have already raised the minimum wage. Well above what the federal minimum is. When you look at this debate does it. Matter what part of the country we're looking at it matters a lot. Twenty nine states and the district of columbia have set their minimum wages above the federal seven. Twenty five and hour minimum and so have several cities raising the minimum wage to fifteen dollars. An hour across the country would have a huge impact on some states in the south that are paying seven two thousand five hundred minimum wage or state like west virginia where the minimum wage is now. Eight dollars and seventy five cents an hour. That's of course politically important. Because democrat senator joe manchin has indicated. He's against a fifteen hour wage and his opposition could be fatal to the proposal but a fifteen dollars. Minimum wage would have much less impact in states. Like california where it's already set to go to fifteen dollars. It's thirteen dollars now. And in florida voters in november approved a referendum that takes their minimum wage to fifteen bucks over the next few years no matter what congress does anything special about going up to exactly fifteen an hour. Not really it's politically important. The fact is that the minimum wage has been stuck at seven twenty five since two thousand nine. It would be close to nine dollars. An hour fifty kept up with inflation since

Bourbon, Banter, and the Best of 2020!! - burst 02

"Welcome back everyone to the broken court. Podcast episode to who. I'm dan aaron jake and right. Now i'm gonna throw it over to my man aaron for our toast since it's real close to valentine's day. I thought i would give a valentine's toast one of those cheesy almost greeting card. Esque toast hallmark. Here's here's to you. So roses are red violets are blue. Don't get me flowers bourbon. Will do cheers. cheers everyone. Damn let's get stuff so right now. World bourbon news. Going around out of new rift still company out of newport kentucky. Something that's kind of Near and dear to my heart. Since i do work in the world fast food. They're doing something really cool for all of us New riff is putting out a fifteen year. Straight bourbon whiskey. they're calling. i believe it's called. Relief is bottled in bond. Just like all of their other products. Distilled in indiana. By what what we can only think is mvp. Because they're the only ones. I think are going to have the stocks that are up there in fifteen years and i think it is. Gp wouldn't surprise me. The barrels were purchased out of mvp and again that's all speculative but they were stored at their warehouse with the remainder of their time and this run is limited to just nine hundred if not less only to be distributed out of their distillery for the price of two hundred dollars. I think i tweeted about that. Too on the burkan broken corker twitter page to if you wanna if you wanna get in more in depth about it. I believe he did. But that two hundred dollars is going to go to benefit Restaurant workers around the ohio and kentucky area. I believe that release is going to benefit. Both the ohio restaurant employee relief fund and the northern kentucky chamber of commerce who's in charge of distributing the funds to people who need it the most for more on that you can check us out on facebook at the broken court crew is our facebook group or you can follow new riff on all of their social media for more information on that release. And i'm sure it's going to be amazing man. I think you know what a great especially this time of year. What a great a cinnamon for them to do. I mean cove is really hit. That service industry pretty hard. It's ruined a lot of people and you don't see a lot of people talking about i. Understand nurses and doctors are at the forefront of all of this kovin but they don't talk a lot about like like your fast food workers who have been working throughout the entire thing. I mean i've been fast food. I have not stopped working since covert started. Yeah and i mean. God bless all the frontline workers as far as medical is concerned because they are. They're in close contact. All that like i said are the forefront of all of this but you rarely hear about anyone else you know. Keeping america fed keeping america clothed. Everything like that. So big shout out to all our healthcare workers and big shoutout to all our fast food workers. Anyone who's working retail right now and all of our truckers keeping everyone delivered to and everyone stocked up so we can get through this together. Definitely a big shout to the truckers. So we have a new segment on the show. And i want mr jake over there to take it over. Oh yeah this is our new segment. It's called what's cracking so basically what it is. We give a shoutout to whatever we've had since last podcast. Something's good something you drink and right now something you wanna tell everybody about to me. It was new roof winter whiskey. I tried that a good friend at a bar. Bought that around for actually me and dan and you talk about unbelievable. That's one of the best new products i've had. It really really is. I haven't had very many and of what i've had it. It's up there. I really so good. It opened my eyes to new roof and made me wanna do a little bit more research into their products. And then i mean on top of all of that. We found out about this thing that you just talked about the fifteen year. Oh yeah what's cracking for you. So what's cracking for me. I've had a couple of new bottles. I'm gonna give a couple of honorable. Mentions i never had seventeen ninety. Two bottle in bonn. I know very very strange. But i had that and it's delicious. If you can get your hands on bottle relatively cheap. I paid forty five ninety nine for man. I think that's right around retail so also from french. Lick indiana lead w sinclair four grain. It's called the iconoclast It's a four product from them. What happened long story short. They had three barrels. That were of the league w sinclair that. We're just a little off. They didn't say whether it was a good offer a bad off. They just said it was often. So they mix those three bottles together and made the iconoclasts. But the one. I really really wanna talk about is the o. H ingram whiskey It is from brown water. Bourbon company out of nashville. Where the whisky comes from. What happens with it. It's really cool. They on the mississippi river in an o o h ingram. Born and so really. Yeah so they have Redone this barge completely rick house out of it and so what

What the pandemic has revealed about the real value of college

"We've got a moment. We're in crisis. Can we do better. Ron lieber is asking that very question in his new book. The price you pay for college is the author of the new york times personal finance column your money ron for years and years and years. We weren't thinking about the price of college the value of college. Is it worth it. Well i think you have to start by asking yourself what college is right. what is college for. I wasn't sure what the answer to. That question was so i asked you know scores of families and i heard the same things over and over again colleges for getting an education for having your mind grown in your mind blown. It is for kinship. It is for finding the people who will carry you through life. It is for getting a credential whether it's the gold plated one that will open doors or just the degree that will allow you to grasp hold of the middle class and hopefully stay there and so in order to answer. The question of whether college is worth it. You need to find it for your individual family that we as a nation can dictate for any given individual but then how did we get to this place right. My dad worked in the summer and put himself through school and had a tiny bit of debt. After how did college get this expensive. There are so many more things pulling on our household incomes than there used to be. We are entirely responsible in most instances for our own retirement. We're paying more and more out of our own pockets for healthcare. Many people are paying off their own student. Loan debt well into their forties or fifties right so people don't have the same kind of disposable income as they might have earlier states have reduced their subsidies towards higher education which means the price of the state schools has gone up and the private institutions. They've gotten more and more expensive so the middle class. There is being squeezed. This whole idea of i want to go to a liberal arts college and better myself and in the world is will be. My voice. teacher is kind of an antiquated thought. Sure i'd like to enrich myself but not if it's going to put me in hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of debt. I remember when i was a senior in college. I went to lehigh and lee. Could absolutely help you on the career services front. If you wanted to go work in an accounting firm or be an engineer i wanted to work in investment banking so i drove to new york city with my mother and i stuck into the career services office at columbia university and i borrowed these giant binders. That had every piece of information that you needed for every bank every financial institution so you could apply for the summer internships. Now i went to the photocopy machine to start and you needed to have a school. I d to use the photocopier. I got caught. And i got kicked out the reason i bring this up. We send these kids to college but the best jobs are directly linked to only a few schools. So do we need to start looking at. Here's a college. What is the job. My child is going to get on the other side because otherwise they will be sitting here in hundreds of thousands of dollars with a debt. Yes to all of that first of all. That is the most bad ass career services story that i have ever heard your description of this as quote unquote best jobs right. I mean it is true that the best jobs in investment banking very narrow feel from certain institutions. Right unless you beat down the door but are those. The best jobs in america are the best jobs for anyone. Goldman sachs's is hiring. All these people in salt lake city now do not come from columbia and harvard and stanford mit. So then we have to ask ourselves well. These are iconic jobs in in certain social classes but are they really the best jobs out there for any given twenty two year old. I don't think so. Before the pandemic we knew there was a skills gap in the united states. We were at full employment yet. We had millions of americans who are not making enough money to support themselves. We had people who had jobs but good enough jobs. But you hear people making that argument saying you cannot afford to support yourself and your family working in a fast food restaurant but that job was never intended for someone who has a family to support. Is there an opportunity to actually create a real jobs program. A skills retraining program so it's not just about raising minimum wage. It's about retraining. People to qualify themselves for better higher paying jobs yes and that infrastructure already exists we can use the community college infrastructure to provide that skills training but we also have a shortage of qualified instructors to teach some of these skills. Why because the skills are so in demand that the people who would be doing the instructing are making five times as much money being actual practitioners. If you're a master plumber. You're not going to spend twenty hours a week teaching at a community college even though it would be a service to the community if you are a welder with twenty five years of experience right same thing is true. So how are we going to create the budget that allows for more people to be pushed through rigorous training programs. And so we need to do more I think from a state perspective and from a federal perspective not just provides the money but also to ensure equity and access to these programs

Is The World Headed For A Major Nutrition Crisis?

"Unicef has just released some research that says that over thirty nine billion school meals have been missed since the start of the covid nineteen pandemic as a result of all the school closures that have happened around the world and what that means is that the onus to feed the kids that extra meal is now being put back on the families and a lot of these poor and more vulnerable communities. The families just simply can't afford to do that in these sorts of environments. The school meal is the one nutritional meal of actually get for the day. And obviously that's a massive crisis a massive problem for the immediate future of those families and those kids. But i actually think there's another level to this nutrition crisis. Which is that in a lot of the more developed countries and say the richer communities. Many people during these lockdowns have turned to fast food to comfort food because they've been locked down in their homes and as a result of that the nutritional value in that food is obviously in many cases pretty low and so i think that the nutrition crisis that we face on the other side of this pandemic is not just gonna be in the poor and vulnerable communities but in all communities and so i think in that they will be a lot more need for nutritional advice nutritional supplements nutritional deficiency treatment solutions. I think there's a lot to be to be still felt and still understood about the impact of poor nutrition as a result of this covid nineteen crisis not just in those vulnerable communities which is obviously a massive problem but i think in all communities we're going to see a nutritional crisis or a nutrition crisis that is maybe loss for quite some time.

Hawaii is a ‘fast food capital,’ new study says

"Here. And as it turns out, there's one surprising place in the country where it's theoretically easier to do so than another's. According to a new study. Hawaii has the most fast food restaurants per capita in the country and average of 97.5 fast food locations per 100,000 people. As a 2019. The Census Bureau estimated the state population was a little more than 1.4 million, which could give Hawaii around 1365 total fast food restaurants course. Given its relatively small size. Hawaii has nowhere near the most fast food joints in the country. New York, for example, has an estimated 17,900, California. Most populous state has over 32,500. Yeah. So Hawaii, huh? So I guess you know, probably catering mostly to tourists. I'm guessing or at least more than the population would lead you to believe because of all the tourist cause the tourist population probably, you know, almost sometimes outnumbers the native population. I would think I would think, too, that the vast

Trader Joe's Seeds the Conversation About Plants & Plant-Based Products

"Plants and plant based products are certainly in these days. I remember the time when if you put the word vegan on a package it could actually hurt its sales. I swear there are things that we put the word vegan that afterwards. We're like what we do that because we killed it but maybe in the last five years in certainly more intensely in the last couple of years. We've seen this tremendous increase in customer interest for plant based foods. We have a new guest on the podcast today. I m amy. I am a category manager of a few different categories within our store deli fresh beverage and meet meatless an seafood in the frozen set. You head a lot of plant based things that are kind of obviously plant faced right like like the the juice shots for example you also manage what we call these meat analogues. The turkey lists protein patties and the protein patties. They don't say beef louis but there. That's kind of implied right. There has been huge growth in the meatless set. These new iterations of products are really going after the flexible -tarian customer and as people are looking for ways to have a healthier lifestyle improve their overall general health but then a better impact to the environment or incorporating meat. Free days meatless. Mondays in those sorts of things so these products really target customers that want the full meet experience but just a better version of it sweatshirt this as a better version of the full meet experience. Please don't i know it's implied. Did the two product types classic meat or now. New meatless does the product development sort of inform one category over the other. Like we gotta have a meatless bacon because we sell so much regular bacon or or does it work independent of what sells well in the traditional meet category. That's a great question. The new products that were developing our specific target to what does well in the meat or seafood set or chicken. For example i mean great tenders new sausage product that eats differently than our older or i should say first generation sausage links that we have. It wasn't that long ago when when we had to sort of change our expectations and we'd often wind up saying that's pretty good for vegan or vegetarian. Or an analog a stand in and now i feel like the products have changed to the point. Where oftentimes it's like. whoa. I wouldn't have known that was vegan. If you didn't tell me these days you see especially at fast. Food chains and in restaurants Like fried chicken. That actually looks like chicken. Sausage that eats tastes like sausage. It's gone beyond the burger to all those other food products that people normally crave And to get that texture in by it's really a lot more complicated than most people assume otherwise it tastes rubbery or it doesn't have that richness. doesn't cook the same to. That's been keep in mind that some of the proteins remain raw looking as opposed to really cooking and having the char in the grill so that you get that full experience not just the flavor the texture and the presentation of it. You don't have to give up your burger to have something plant based you can still enjoy those comfort foods. You just eat less calories or less fat for that occasion and you're doing something good for yourself and for the environment at the same time. Mimic mimic Animal based products. What's what sort of a holy grail product that you've not seen yet that that you're interested in in having developed bacon is one of them but then also a range of charcuterie. I have yet to really try anything that does well as far as texture and flavor. That's it's kind of more rubber which is a plant based material could could qualify fifteen years ago. I wasn't interested in picking up something that said vegan. Because experience told me it wasn't gonna taste very good. A great things taste good now. Oh they absolutely do. And even beyond just the meatless items the dips and dressings and whatnot with implant based cream cheese. I mean you would never know that you weren't eating a full cream. Cheese product tastes. It has the same mouth. Feel the same flavor profile the dips are at. That's an interesting topic because we've we've approved a number of them recently. Have i'm we're very excited to that. We have to zeki and a caramelized onion as well. That will launch in two thousand and twenty one and within panel. I wanna say everybody agreed that they actually tasted better or the same as a full dairy version. So you'd be hard pressed to differentiate them in a blind tasting. I don't think you could necessarily tell what else in the in the world of plant based stuff is top of mind for you or interesting things. You're looking forward to or. I'm looking to do more work on the seafood side. We don't have options yet within our stores for a plant based seafood product. But they're crabcakes out on the market or scallops ortona replacement so really looking more at the seafood to make sure that we've covered all of the proteins that customers are familiar with and bringing in the best versions of those. We have every single meal covered. We have breakfast options with links and patties we have burgers for lunch or even replacements for something as popular as our orange chicken so we've got a full spectrum so that you don't have to pick and choose which meal you can really incorporate it throughout your day or your week and really find what you're looking for ten years from now it will look completely different again know when you can mimic those flavors and textures. That people really love to have as part of their diet. Then they can feel freer to say okay. I'm going to have less meat in my diet. I'm not going to become a complete vegan vegetarian but maybe this day. I won't eat meat this day. I will absolutely. And i think it's becoming almost cool to say that you're you know you eat plant. Based that it's becoming more acceptable. More understood. people are trying new things so protein patties to sort of beef analog protein patties the texture is a little too soft for me for eating on a bun. Texture is a really big part of something being delicious or not Even though it's not flavor. I think one of our adams that we've really nailed on. Texture is the meatless meatballs. It's one of my family favorite items and we use it as a substitute spaghetti. All the time is just a way to swap something out. That's quick and easy you know and then add some shredded carrots and we've got plenty of plants and it's lower in fat and calories than the meat version that we sell as well and you would never know that you weren't eating meat. I think they're really great tasting meatballs. But you're not super focused on. Is it a perfect replication of the meat version. Because there's so many other flavors happening and the texture. I think to the point you just made the texture of those Meatless meatballs in the freezer. Case is perfect. They are perfectly meaty meatballs without without the meat. They're they're my personal favorite just the way you are

"It's not. You can't. Drink. Plus I love it. It's not like fitting in people's food or anything, but it gives them a little bit of a punishment when they're rude to you. I would pre snap a couple straws and keep them next day read servers in case. A drink first and then you go get their food and bring their food over. So if I brought them their and they're like, Oh, my straws broken I'd be like Oh my God that's terrible and so sorry that's the worst and then I would just hand them another raw. Thinking every time I've gotten a broken Straw that I've been a bitch or something. They're punishing I am not tend to be a bitch though maybe just happens I just happen. Well, that's what gave me. The ideas maestro was broken after I went to a gas station one day and I was like Oh. This is the worst. Thing people. That's funny. I'm going to use his opportunity to read some stories that were on the message boards and I need to. I need you to confirm that's something. This horrific would never happen I talk about, okay. I like wanted to take my headphones off. So this. No. This is not about Taco bell injustice about like. Oh. Got It. Okay. And she was eating at Taco Bell her what is it known as bandage clip you know like how you like or out together. That was in her TACO bell a couple years ago but the very worst story. Story that I just cannot. I can't. I can't believe that this has happened. It says. It's from Taco Bell. This curson said that there was a man who worked there that was a Jackie leading into the food, and then another person responded to this and said that this also happened at their local dairy queen, the people, some guy was Jack leading into the ice cream. You know I just don't think I would really be surprised by anything. I will never be the same after the podcast. He's just ruined. Brought me joy people are so gross and it's really like the Mike Anybody can work fast food anybody can deliver pizzas. So it just as bad apples the company isn't. Their bad apples and everything. So you just gotTa. Hope you're not getting one I had certain people wouldn't even let make my food when they were working at. TACO bell. I would wait until like my shift was over. And come back. "Dating someone in the restaurant and we had let's call it relations. Okay. Bill Clinton. I did not have relations were. Relations. So we ended up. We did it everywhere. We were in the walk in fridge the. At a fast food restaurant is it's the size of a bedroom not. So the freezer too cold but the fridge which actually great. Like near the product works. On the products. Away. For, example, I don't know about raising cane's but Zach's fees cells Coleslaw and you make the Coleslaw from these humongous bags that are like ten pound bags of like cabbage and radish all chopped up the bags are huge they kind of form a mattress and In this scenario. In this scenario we're mattress So yeah, we always like somebody would order like extra Coleslaw and.

"Hello everyone. Welcome to the I. Don't get it podcast. This is Lauren. This is now. This is Ashley and we do talk about food probably the majority of the time this podcast and fast food in general more civically actually not general So we're doing a podcast all about fast food. kind of maybe some horrific behind the scene things some maybe secret menu. So we're having some callers on today to discuss their time working at fast food restaurants against this is inspired by last week and we were talking about the Travis Scott thing with McDonald's I went to McDonald's a couple of days afterward and I saw that they were out of the Travis Scott meal and I go how do you run out of quarterback? I said we're out of? Quarter pounders. Scott Basically, and I'm like, how do you pronounce quarter patterns I guess like when they send them the Patty's there's like the big Mac Patties, a quarter pounder patties like the regular cheeseburger panicked. But then you were saying like, don't they have the ingredients ready sort of like me And you can. They had the barbecue because I got the barbecue sauce to dip into the fries into the barbecues right A. Sprightly Barbecue, they have bon yeah. Lakes colonial confused by that by. Packaging probably. Quarter pounder box they're out of yeah. Like I'm sure we'll think about if it's a collab-, it's got to have his name on it somehow or his name on the bag or the box or something like. Quarter pounder that the cord Patrick's. It said because of the trauma Scott Special, we are out of quarter pounders. So I don't understand I don't get it and it's okay. I also was reading through a lot of your messages on the boards and he were format you. You saw a lot of people on the message boards were saying Oh I. Don't love going to love hate this podcast because you guys are going to ruin fast food for me. You Guys I. Don't know what can be said that's going to actually make me not go to these places anymore because I'm going you're talking about the pockets we're doing right now last week. Yeah. They're saying like they're gonNA be so grossed out by the way they make food or like the kind of cleanliness habits Blah Blah and I'm like you guys I'm going to think that it's very Situational I'm not going to think that like that ninety nine percent of the time. This is actually share the same hesitation with them even though I really wanted to do this podcast because I'm like we always do like horror stories about other stuff like why not fast food even though this isn't a horror story, it's just like share. It's like fast food diaries early. There you go. Yeah but. But I share the same hesitation I talk show yesterday and I will continue even is from meet hose. Yeah. Exactly, but apparently, there's no such thing as the Meat Ho Hos. So says some girls. Yeah. Some girls who were at Taco Bell Honor Message Boards Okay. So let's get kristen on. She worked at Jamba juice going to be honest never had a Jumba juice drinking my life why really you'd never do smoothie. You Guy. I'm allergic to all of it, but it's delicious. I liked the food I forgot you're allergic to mango, SAP, and stuff like that or every man was I going to say so in Boca when Jama juice open, it was like Oh my God before school like. Judge..

"The people that eat food once a week eat fast food nineteen times a week and the people that don't eat fast food once a week go three years without eating any fast for decades it's just you have to break the have your sort of in earlier hour has got an tough to say i dabble in fast food it's just it's a kind of thing that you have to treat like uh being a member of isis like you're either in our you're out and i'm just out but he we we know we can drive his car to a destination get out of a car and purchase something right we know he has that ability right it's just that now he needs to drive to whole foods by a very carrots and some string cheese edges a you have to just do you have to force yourself do go buy something different i gotta tell you i the carrots are a tough not i i will tell you this 'cause i always talked of any toward rich about this stuff you can go to i do this myself you gotta trader joe's you can buy packages of all kinds of italian meets in all kinds of pro vallone cheeses and all kinds of stuff like turkey is a turkey the hair and she doesn't have that protein in that greece they're just to tamp out the fire like literally have those cheddar cheese sticks or something throw for you and your car i'm not going to be one of these things were like have some unroasted almonds had come out like that that's not so banking to the part of your brain that needs to be spoken tale you just need that little grief see fatty little sort of salami thing with that little piece of cheese and little fatty cheesy thing and they're just like just knock it down and and keep driving 'cause you just can't do it paul look it can't be part of the curriculum.

"We're not a fast food restaurant were fast food platform why would we accept that none how at any different here so and if you look at traditionally at at crisis management crises are opportunities are company can come out stronger and it has to be acknowledged the problem top garrigo takes responsibility for addressing the problem and the key is you over correct and this has been a series of halfmeasures and denials they are this is going to be a textbook case study in how not to handle a crisis there's been quite a few companies in silicon valley that we could we could say that about vis vis inside the high with nick built in i grew up cooking when i was a kid i helped in the kitchen i got to lic chocolate sauce off the spin before dinner but as an adult life gets busy and it's increasingly become more difficult to figure out what to make for a grown family never mind getting to the market and funny timed actually cook so a couple of weeks ago i stand up for hellofresh and dinner in the built in household has changed dramatically we beaten chicken milanese with chris potatoes pantsuit gnocchi with pesto and we also had this delicious mushroom ravioli gratin which was done in one single pot not only does hellofresh deliver food to your doorstep but it does so any recyclable insulated box the tissue they used to ship your food and the ice packs all recyclable i didn't feel any guilt from using the service in fact i felt like it actually help the environment by skipping half a dozen drive to the grocery store last week.

"For a fast food confessional oh telling more okay so i was on no seriously if you've got a fast food behavior that you need to get out of six five one six four one one seven one and i'll tell you the kind of behavior and talking about cap so i saw this article that basically just creates a list of admissions that people have made confessions the people have made surrounding fast food for example somebody took the fuse out of an oven so that her family would have to order take out that sounds like schilling allendale themes like a lot of war uh once somebody got a a ride with the delivery driver after failing to get a taxi another as i said pretended to make sure her oven was broken but that got me thinking this happens in my very own house what some about out somebody's behavior up i should have thought about thus before i talk about on whatever but let's just say that on occasion people in my home have been known to may be drive through a fastfood experience and then discard the evidence uh in non in an outdoor garbage located in outdoor garbage and so i inside garbage so as to not leave any evidence behind i get it have you ever done not no i don't have fast food shame but that is i think a common condition six five one six four one one no seven one what's your fast food confession with your shame well the reason why i don't think i'm speaking at a school and i tell you this because they think she's talked about an on the radio stephanie hanson from the weekly dash she told me what she was like 'cause i love taco bell sheila share a mutual affection for the taco bell i truly do not e t i.

"The the love child of a taco a case a deaso it's like all of those things kind of mixed together and edges comes out a little reminiscent of all of them but not like any of them are high and the the bean mixes on midst onions and garlic a ton of oil and some spices just all kind of cooked together and then mixed with um crushed like three different kinds of beans lentils uh there's brown rice and their okayso going back to the bor the burger and the abolition of the local menu said the birtheburger today house at different than the burger you opened with homelucyso we just change the bonn um the the original recipe was amazing but to bradyokayi'm what we found in took a long time to sort through where people had issues with the burger will likely couldn't figure it out and then we finally realized that the bunma's was taking up too much 3rd tension and and it was it physically to beg nookayit was on the structure i say you're not like squishy eknathnahi ought squishy known not in substantial enough so um so uh we just switch to a more normal but still really wellmade berbon um we've gone through a couple of we've ended up with a very classic roadside berger with you know iceberg lettuce and tomato on un and a sauce which is really we've had almost since the beginning but we just combined in a different way she kind of our are awesome sauce an and that's it and then the cheddar cheese and guy and the burger so it's really like to guys better the bands will we toast them not not about trump pattern them there's butter in the bonds so there is on the on the burger ban at south a little bit oil oh okay yeahwe we as oil to griddle them a dozen got it because of the heated doesn't burn and then another question is did you in the research rate you spend a lot of time in the community did you also spend time eating fast food no you didn't know royroy kinda filled me and on all that um ii had a bite or two things here and there but uh but so that experience of the the nest aljic food memory or the flavor.
