Veterans at Revolutionary battlefield dig find camaraderie
"Military veterans who carefully dug and sifted through clumps of dirt and a revolutionary war battlefield in New York did more than uncover artifacts army veteran Bjorn Brookshaw loves history and is part of a three person team looking for evidence from the tight turning second battle of Saratoga absolutely like I said in his revolutionary war history fan so to know that you know the British forces were here instead I'm standing right where they were fighting back and forth is our makes me giddy I guess you can say Brookshaw was injured in a roadside bombing in Iraq anybody who suffers PTSD and TBI or whose newer self or any form of disability from the military is always going to continue to transition because you always have that in the back your mind Stephen Humphreys is founder of the American veterans archaeological recovery we really want to focus more on the abilities of our veterans rather than the disabilities we've seen that veterans are actually very good and archaeology when they're properly trained the team is looking for artifacts fired from muskets and cannons I'm a Donahue

"Shoot headline breitbart writer. Insanely blames libs for manipulating trump fans into dying of vaccine refusal. Now this is amazing is this is i. Get the crazy conspiracy theory stuff. I understand that but ultimately think about this theory for just a moment. I got tracy in here too. If you're watching the stream we gotta audio problem. We're trying to fix here and we're gonna we're gonna get that fixed breitbart news writer. John nolte argued monday. That howard stern and the left are using reverse psychology to trick. Republicans dying of covert. Here's the argument that the breitbart john nolte apparently advanced. He said if i were to use reverse psychology to try to convince people not to get a life saving vaccination. I would do exactly what howard stern and the left are doing. I would bully. I would taunt mock and ridicule you for not getting vaccinated knowing that the human response would be well blank you. I'm never going to get vaccinated now. John nolte writes. No one ever wants to feel like. They're being boyd ridiculed or mocked or pushed into doing anything. Now here's media analysis of this. They say that truism sounds compelling absent any additional context but the over-simplification of a complex psychological phenomenon isn't exactly evidence of conspiracy. Nolte goes on to make the absurd case rights media that unvaccinated. Americans are in danger of dying. Because of the media's manipulation. You think there's no truth to that. Do you honestly think there's no merit to to the fact that people are are quite possibly dying because of the politicisation of covert.

How the Wokeness Is Killing the Simple Joy of Sports
"I caught up on this, Uh 30 for 30, ESPN special at the 1986 Mets, the World Series team. Jim is a big Mets fan producer, Jim and he had told me this is such a great show. You got to watch it. So I sat down for four hours. I couldn't turn away the 1986 Mets, and it reminds me I was a Yankees fan, not a Mets fan, but I was very happy to Mets won the 1986 World Series. I was a kid and I was I was 12. I mean, you know, I'm not thinking about solving the world's problems at 12 years old. But I was happy for them. My mom was a Mets fan and that stunning World Series victory, of course with the Bill Buckner era and it's a real shame, because you know, Bill Buckner is such a great player and became You know, it's infamous for that one plane he shouldn't have. He was such a great player throughout his career. I mean, it was just right. Jim Buckner was a great hitter. I mean, if phenomenal player and it's really a shame that a lot of people just associated with that one moment But I watched that upset victory. The Mets come back in the ninth, and I remember just losing my mind being so happy for my mom and she was screaming, jumping up and down and this guy Phil's house we were at it was a friend of Of hers at the time. But Comey thinking How mad I am now. I don't mean like man at the world are mad at you. I mean mad at what the sports world. Dead. I had such special memories and I was a kid sports. I did I, uh, you know those moments. You you all know. I mean, if your guys ladies out there you were at a game with your dad or your mom or whatever, and home run gets hit in the beard gets thrown in the air and everything like that. People throw and popcorn, peanuts, crackerjacks all over the place. Whatever. Everybody's just going nuts together something about the collective energy of the crowd. Sports brings us that. It's a form of entertainment. You don't see that the movie theater, right? I mean, very rarely in a movie theater. You know, you're not watching, like return to the Jedi, where Luke Skywalker throws Darth Vader over the thing, and everybody gets up in cheers. That just doesn't happen. But it happens in sports, right and those moments I missed them. I've been, uh, stranger to sports for the last few years because of the Wokeness and I just don't want to. It's just not my thing. I just can't take it and I'm really mad. Like many of you are There's a special moments to me. I remember every second of that 1986 Mets World Series. I remember there was sitting at the end of the couch on the right side. And this guy Phil's house watching that And that feeling of elation and joy. Why'd you have to take that from us?

Polls Open for Tight Election in Canada
"Welcome back america. Here here salena zito is my guest. She is america's columnists you can read everything that she writes it. Selena zito dot com. We talk over the weekend about something that i'm not going to tell you about unless you can tell me about it. Selena can you tell me about it. I can't carry about it yet. All right believe in there. Tell me about justin trudeau. You just wrote a common. The new york post that is about justin trudeau. Who by the end of the day. I hope is the for their voting today aren't they they are. They're voting today and it's really interesting sort of what's happening there for the benefit of the steelers fans. We're talking about canada. Well my family have. We had a place up there for over seventy years. So i know a little bit about avian Probably the only one in pittsburgh go ahead. They lost yesterday. I'm happy happy happy. I got some heat on twitter from. I got rolled by yesterday. And he said you know east. Ohio watches the pittsburgh steelers. And i wrote back. Yeah so they loved him lose like yesterday. But you go ahead and tell us about canada so Trudeau coli snap election In august in. Interestingly enough he called it the day that these the polls came out that canadians gave him very high marks on his vaccines distribution. And they should have. They have the best vaccine distribution as a country in the world however they did not like that. He decided to call this snap election. Why because first of all there's very strict lockdowns in in canada. And so they believe that he was. It was irresponsible for him to do in the middle of a pandemic after being lectured forever about not doing anything and all the set now he wants everyone to go out and vote and the reason he wants everyone to go out and so is because he had he had High marks in the polling but You know that didn't transfer that didn't stay because people people look at it as like you're doing this because you want a majority government.
Tackling Cattle, Biting Kneecaps: The Detroit Lions' Cowboy Coach
"So kristen eck. We've got to start the story in january of this year at dan campbell's introductory press conference. I wanted this job bad. Because i felt like i knew this community i played here all right on. Everything's seemingly normal and then things get a bit more interesting. I can sit up here and give you coach. Speak all day long. I can give you You know. Hey we're gonna win this many game. I can't that none of that matters in you. Guys don't want to hear it anyway. You've had enough of that shit. So excuse my language then. He drops his magnum opus. So this is going to be built on. We're gonna kick you in the teeth all right and when you punch us back. We're going to smile at you and when you knock us down we're going to get up and on the way up we're going to buy to kneecap off all right and we're going to stand up and then it's going to take two more shots you cover the team for the athletic. What was your reaction to this. I mean i think like everyone else. I was sort of just in shock for a few minutes. Just trying to figure out where he was going with everything but as we'll talk about. I'm sure that was very much dan campbell. I think the people who know him weren't all that surprised to hear that speech from him. It was funny to hear you know brad. Homes in new. General manager was introduced at the same time and he said several times since. I'm glad i got to go first. Because i don't think i could follow that up but i i think that that's you know that's what you get from dan campbell and i think that's what they wanted from dan campbell. They wanted some energy and some authenticity. And i think the fan base really responded to it. I don't know how the players necessarily took it or people in the general public but for this particular fan base. I think it went over pretty well. Neko ear thoughts when you heard it a big pro wrestling fan l. admission here and that's what that was a professional wrestling promo is having talked to him since talking all these guys for the story like he didn't planet it wasn't scripted. It was something that he said and you can kind of tell because he when he said the kneecaps thing he did it like exclaim it he just sort of set it like the most nonchalantly normal way is like to. We're going to play when your kneecaps off. And then he just kept going to the next point. It's like this is just what this guy. This is off the cuff. You could kind tell. And i think that there was a lot of authenticity with that
The Zach Wilson Era Is off to a Disastrous Start
"So let's talk about zack wilson. Because you mentioned him and watching him lose twenty five to six at home to the patriots and bill ballot check and bill. Bella check destroys rookie. Quarterback's he consumes them. He picks their bones. That's all stuff that we know already cleans. His teeth with the bones of rookie quarterback is what he does but we saw jets fans alex. You know throwing in the towel and it's week two. And i say that because they were literally throwing souvenir tales from the stands. And zach wilson. The four picks. I'm curious about climbing into your memory bank here because what do you. Alex smith remember about playing the colts back in two thousand and five pablo. I've definitely tried to forget this one all right but we're good. I do remember my first career. Start the number one defense at the time and like the colts were in their heyday. Payton was rolling. But that defenseman dwight free robert matt Bob sanders. i mean it was. It was a joke and yeah. It's all a terrible blur for me. Like four picks i think my rating was it like it was a disaster but i think that was a clear design i was i just turned twenty one. I mean i played only two years in college in a spread system now trying to plan their center. Probably this become this pro quarterback whatever that is and It was not good. I was definitely i. I felt unprepared. And it was a disaster and it showed. You've been a guy who had a four interception game really early after being a top. Pick your the number one overall pick of course. What do you counsel him. Hypothetically what do you stay to him after a game like this if you were to visit him. Alex smith kind of like a ghost of christmas future. What do you. What do you tell a kid who's very talented but also just had a day like this. I think exactly that. I mean i think you gotta go like for me. I just go to the third and fourth picks that he grew and pause before the snap and look look like jack. It's ten to three on this one. It's in the third quarter we got. There's a ton of football left. There's no reason to throw this ball up The way he did and then even the second one in the fourth grade. I mean i think it was thirteen to three. At that point. There is still time. Left like again I think going back to just doing your
Paul Anka Recalls His Time Working With the Rat Pack
"Paul anka. It's so great to see you. I wanna ask you. You're sitting in front of a zillion gold records Where they happen to be your gold records for the most part of my keble michael jackson elvis presley other artists have been involved with most part a lot of those that are from nineteen fifty seven on. Now you worked with the folks. You you've mentioned. I mean i should mention this upfront. If i were better my job recently you've worked with drake the weekend Michael boob lay andrea bocelli. Olivia newton john. We were talking about your time with sinatra. How did it end up that you were working with what we today. Call the ratpac. No greater fan of dean martin than yours. Truly amazing that you knew these men. Well we have to go back to the beginnings you know the record business and the business that i was in was primarily run by the boys the boys mafia whatever and that was cool. There are great work for we knew what a position was but they ran everything they own the clubs the only record companies etcetera so when i started beginning success for young I realized who was working for. And i got the word that now that new york went very well. We're sending out to vegas to the boys and you're gonna work in vegas. So what year are we talking about. Big apartment what year we talking about. Fifty eight nine hundred fifty. Started sophie tucker. Which was i guess. My audition did well with her. And then it evolved into the sixties started working sands right from their youngest kid. Never worked there and here. I was with all these guys. Were my idols realizing that. Bobby darin frankie avalon still these kid idols. But we knew this at the end and we realized that we had to evolve survive into something else thus we had these guys that we looked up dean martin sammy and break so i like to sand started working and guys mentored me. They took me in. Because that's making money for them indirectly directly. The boys ran the place and we became very very
How Singer and Songwriter Paul Anka Became the Original Teen Idol
"I don't know where to begin with you because you've had such an amazing career for people. Now there are a lot of young folks who might not be familiar with you. And i thought boy. They're in for it here. But where do we start first of all. You were huge teen idol. That was a little bit before my time. A gigantic teen idol. How did that happen for you. You're from canada born canada raising canada. I was in school on to be a journalist when father would be a lawyer. Put me in an english class. A class with forty girls to learn how to type in shorthand hated the shorthand got thrown shorthand which was fine. Took up music that i started writing. I want some awards for my couple of my essays that i wrote but while taking music i became a big fan of music back then and it devolved into me just starting to write at a young age Kind of had a crush on a girl. Zoldin i was. You know back in the fifties indigenous to lat time. If you're older shorter fatter you really didn't get the score. So i wrote this song. I'm still young are so old. I sang it at parties. And i said now what do i do with it. Well all have to realize pop music was in its infancy stage back then thus i I'm going to new york. Because that's where the action is. So i read a newspaper. Said collect soup rappers. You go to new york. So i got a job with i. J food stores. I collected soup rappers. Campbell soup one trip with forty boys and went down. Got the vibe in new york. What baco blogs of money on easter vacation The following year. And i went down when it went off scot. Abc paramount records dot cost. Was the in. 2021 Emmys: Winner Predictions for Outstanding Drama Series
"Let's talk about some of the nights. Toughest categories the emmy for outstanding drama series goes to margin. Which show do you think is going to take it. I hate to be so predictable. But i honestly think the crown i know. Aaron doesn't like it which tells me it's the only thing we've ever really disagreed on show. Well written is so well active. It's so well depicted. You get a sense that you are in one of the most iconic and well known families and what they have gone through so i just think that. They deserve their roses. I'm not gonna say fully dislike it with the full. Stop a man. He just hasn't evolved yet. Let me let me let me. Give you the pallet cleanser. You need less fresh. let's night. I will turn you onto the crowd. I'm gonna make sure that. I took four naps that day. Prior and then i'll be fully energized and ready. And maybe maybe i should do it post pregnancy so i really don't falsely anyway moving on as we're snoozing on the and made stale like handmaid's him when they're up for a nomination they take it home. They sweep in many categories. So i'm just excited that they're back on this platform to again. Really good picks. I'm leaning more towards handmaid's tale because it was so action packed. And i felt like elizabeth. Moss's directing debut was unbelievable. However we love to give a sendoff. We love to give a proper send-off pose this final season. The cast the story lines. What was written on that paper and what came to screen was so unbelievable. Right and it was life imitating art and art imitating life with billy porter storyline. So i think if you weren't oppose fan when you heard it was a final season. I feel like a lot of people got into it and i think they're going to be able to take it and they did already take home. Some creative arts emmys. the word drove. I mean it was to die for. That show was fully entertaining. You went through all the fields with that so don't really anyone's game. Yeah really out out of all three of those. It really could

"All right. Big news involving the raiders. Jon gruden announced running back. Josh jacobs out for the game against dealers. Not that big of a shock okay. He's got a toe injury. It could linger. You need to make sure this is okay and take care of it kenyan. Drake was signed for this reason. And i mean drake is going to have to go up against this incredibly tough defense. I wonder is the number going to jump. maybe not. it's six and a half already. It's still six and a half and now now it's it's jus to the steelers now it's one fourteen at fan duel. It's six and a half miles one. Fourteen six and a half plus one. Oh six on the
Why the Left-Wing Liberal Media Gets Right-Wing Capitol Rallies So Wrong
"To the capital tomorrow. I want to read a left-wing tabloids description of why the capital is on alert. This isn't the new york. Daily news headline capital on alert. Fence goes up. Cops are ready for right. Wing rally tomorrow now. I want you to hear this. You gotta hear the way. This is described by the new york daily news again. A left-wing tabloid even in post presidency exile. Donald trump is still raising unsightly walls. That's the first line of the article. Even in post presidency trump is still raising unsightly walls tall black chainlink security. Fence was erected outside the us capitol complex yesterday as workers are getting ready for a storm of trump fans who planned to descend on washington nine months. After the january six assault on american democracy fencing went up outside the capitol out after that deadly riot. Well yeah deadly ashley. Lab at the trump supporter was killed. But it was removed over the summer. Now it's back again as the right wingers prepared a role in the nation's capital saturday. They're going to have justice for j six rally now even the article as comical as it is says. Hundreds of trump's supporters are expected at the rally to protest criminal charges filed against about six hundred people suspected of breaking laws in january. So it sounds like it's hundreds like the hundreds who rioted january six and people and the left is obviously a nancy pelosi's terrified security officials are anxious to avoid any repeat of january sixth when hordes of protesters some armed or really. How many was there one gun found on one person overwhelmed cops in the effort to block congress from certifying biden's victory.
People Chanting "Selena" at Justin and Hailey Bieber at Met Gala
"Talked about this a little bit last episode during the met gala when we mention justin bieber and haley bieber. There were people chanting selena's name when they're on the red carpet and everyone was wondering why Haley justin look a little sad could be because people were screaming selena's name ireland baldwin then came to the defense of justin and haley so ireland commented saying you know they're one of the happiest and most in love couples. I've ever gotten the chance to be around Because the Talk the talk had said like oh sleeper. Fans like trying to ruin their red carpet moment of she wrote. They don't care about them crying. Laughing emoji there one the happiest and most love couples. I i know that like they normally don't address this stuff. Especially the salinas stuff. I feel like hailey is really tried to stay away from talking about it because it always blows up until a much bigger thing. But i do think it is nice to have a ma like small comment from a family member jump in there. Because i don't know personally. I just feel like i was haley. It it blows up so much and you probably want to just ignore it and you know that if a friend or family member says says something this story just continues. But it's gotta feel kinda nice of somebody defend you.

"The full onslaught of hell is at you okay when those new donut commercials come out That's when pizza releases the extra cheese crust cross pizza. Gosh yeah the taco bell cheesy gordon. I mean just alway and you never even think about time. Only on tuesday tuesdays in twenty one day. Yeah so but here's the thing. Yeah here's the thing When i get up on this is why you have to be prayed up. Do not be tempted to just walk on the platform on prayed up. I'm just telling you can. You will not do it because what you're doing is you're battling In the spiritual realm. You're praying for people to be set free. You're seeing shackles move. You're praying for people to be saved. You're seeing people go from death to life you saying people bapti so the end it. Listen the enemy does not bother but dead church a church that's dead. He doesn't need to bother because they're dead their platinum billboard for him. Yeah yeah he. He don't but a church that's alive a church that's praying. You could take it to the bank. He is going to hear about or or one of his demons are minions and he's going to be attacking the church We're gonna talk about spiritual warfare and putting on the arm of god's soon because this'll be helpful. When ronnie floyd recently preached he was looking over to baptizing praying like that i can speak is the most spiritually exhausting which turns into physical exhaustion. That's the thing. I don't think a lot of people realizes. Yes you're you're baptizing you're standing there. Obviously there's a little bit of physical stuff all but ultimately it's that spiritual Exhaustion that kicks in from the praying for the people Going to god spending that time praying It is you're minister you know this already. It is work in my. I imagine you go home on tuesday night and just pass honestly i. Yeah i'm warts. I'm as tired. Tuesday sometimes more than i am on sunday. And another gonna shock some people. Now here's what's cool about praying in preparing in prayer before the tuesday night. Okay i have a great system with my staff. They allow me to get away on tuesday. You guys are really good about this. You may not be able to do this but you need to get away for some. I leave the church office. On tuesday around twelve thirty or one and i spend from one to about four four thirty with the lord in silence and solitude on interrupted sitting with god in prayer and hearing from god. And i'm doing a couple things. And i'll share with you next time probably about that because you need to put on spiritual armor you need to prepare for the spiritual battle. Tell you what i do. But when i hit the platform even though the spiritual attacks or increase chris i want you to know what god's done through this god has given me an unbelievable boldness because of because of the prayer ministry my own life. I've noticed i'm just telling you. And i this is not me Normally because there is a boldness to stand in the face of my enemies right now like never before. There's a boldness to stand up against naysayers. There is a satisfaction when people are criticizing in critiquing. And believe me. People are criticizing in critiquing right now. My my mother-in-law came in yesterday. She said did you hear about the guy who's blogging against you right now. I said no. Actually not i said i don't i don't i don't give a lot of energy to that. But and so she went off and said i'm gonna call. I wanted to contact him. And i was gonna she said but some people took up your your battle for you and i said Kathy listen i said number one is we need to pray for that guy. Obviously because he us an first of all. I said that he contact me personally. No you didn't okay. So the first. That's the first thing since we need to pray for him because obviously there's something going on in his life where he has to go online and blog. I said but thirdly god's going to even use the naysayers to bring more attention to what he's doing at long hollow in the revival so let him blog all he wants because people are gonna say robbie galaxy long. How what's going on here. And there may be. They may come and they may get touched by god so But here's the thing. The praying in the seeking god and the spending time with him. God show me two things. I wanna leave you with this. Here's the thing i've realized in life. The greatest freedom in life is when you get to the place where you have no one to impress and nothing the proof. The great hear me out here. The greatest freedom in your life will be and this is a prayer request of mine and should be of yours. The greatest freedom of in life is when you get to the place where you have no one to impress and nothing to prove and you're just living in the identity of christ and realizing as long as you serve an audience of one. Listen if the world couldn't get along with the holiest man who ever lived. How in the world do you think they're going to get along with you and me like raven said have we compromised. That we know spiritual stature. Have we know backbone wrong with it. So the fact that you are getting criticized in critique should encourage you say wow we may be doing something for the lord. They criticized jesus. Why would they not me as a good word and as we wrap up today as always if you've enjoyed the podcast or founded helpful take time to text it to a friend and share it with them as you can. My role is not only to help shape product strategy but to formalize and execute on the go to market and scale operations so what does multifamily just to give us a little bit of color on what that involves okay. So this is interesting because my background is not a multifamily. Multifamily is really the the owner operators the investors the property management firms. That essentially you know by manage and essentially invest in apartment buildings. And what's really interesting to me at least in this space. Is that this industry when it comes to marketing is kind of where the bb space was like ten years ago. Smeeting and what i mean by that is what it comes to technology when it comes to their technology. Stacks and the things that they're doing. They are just kind of catching up to the to the bbc's base so it's almost like history is repeating itself so as a marketer if you're dealing with customers who may not be terribly tech savvy. Does that mean that a lot of your marketing is around education. Because you've got people who may not be using a lot of technology at all. Do you have to win them. Over to the fact that technology is is a valuable and useful tool and then convince them that your software is something that they they should consider. I think just like i would say any <hes>. Any industry or any situation <hes>. When things are <hes>. Kind of <hes>. Ahead of its time. I would have said that was the case. Maybe three three four years ago <hes>. Couple of things have <hes>. Have changed that number one year. Getting into a situation where you're finding a lot of young people are running these marketing company marketing teams in <hes>. In multifamily and to covid people have had the change. The way they've done business. And i i know that's probably a reoccurring theme on this podcast but <hes>. Multifamily different so over the years. You've held a number of leadership marketing roles at a variety of companies. And i. i think it's given you some really interesting perspective on the marketing landscape. How it's evolved over the years. Can you talk a little bit about the role of the cmo an early stage company. Because it's really important job but when it comes after the products been developed it comes after a sales team has been created and sometimes the marketing person is to the game for release for burglary speaking. So what is their role and and how do they establish themselves so that they can have a seat at the table. This is a great question and we probably could probably talk a lot longer than fifteen minutes on this one particular subject. I would say first of all having if i'm being honest you as a marketer you really need to be honest with yourself and what i mean by that is you really have to ask yourself. Am i a builder or my farmer. And what i think that means at least to me is not everyone is designed to be in an early stage tech tech environment <hes>. In not also includes anyone else outside of marketing and conclude product excetera. But if you are that person <hes>. The one thing i would say is your you need to be really good at standing things up an. That's everything from the technology. That's that's that's everything to do with the programs etc. But i think you also need to be really good at understanding the business and i think one of the things and i would say that no matter what stage of the business. You're in but i think a lot of times early stage marketers come in as individual contributors and they get stuck there and the problem with that is they get siloed and they're not able to connect what they do to business results so i would say that's number one but also say you have to really understand other other functions outside of your own and i don't think a lot of marketers spend a lotta time understanding business in general whether it sas understanding what sas means the business model behind that the metrics that you know investors and ceo's actually track and two. They don't spend enough time outside of their own this one. So what do you mean by that. I think what i mean by that. Is they so here. Here's the thing when you go from a individual contributor to leading marketing the toughest thing beyond the things i just mentioned is managing up and educating internally and <hes> i'd say think it's it's something that just marketers <hes>. Have this infliction over. But i think it's just a hard thing to to train yourself to do in other words continually trying to communicate what the vision of the company is what marketing is doing externally but also internally

"Is when it gets a bit a bit messy. He's inspired by her head. Really really excited about our potential. So tell me about that. First Day on seven the Eddie the band performed. It was amazing man. The Band is incredible musicians incredible They didn't really know each other before so they had. I think maybe month of six weeks or so to get together and really become a band And I got to watch some of that happened and so you the way they communicate with each other the way to trust each other way. Listen to each other is amazing. We'd have these moments after said you're not be shooting days. It'd be like midnight and all of a sudden someone would get up there and pick up a horn based somebody a little. Something becomes Catarino drums in Everyone is just turn it into these jam sessions that would involve everybody's we had. We had a really top lot of late night. Dance artists at bed. Amanda I have to ask you about harsh. Tell me about that because the bond that this father and daughter have that obvious she lives in New York he lives in Paris. It's obviously they don't see each other a lot but she comes to Paris decides to stay. How did you? You didn't have to force a relationship because in many ways you guys didn't have relationship. So how do you balance that? Yeah that's that's one of the tricky things is that because the script didn't give us a whole lot to go on in terms tomorrow story ARC. It's through you did a metal at so we spent a lot of time together at restaurants or or you rehearsal room wherever we find suggest down. Try and come to some agreement on what the history of this relationship is being because some Informs everything and we see them. See each of the first time. I think we want to feel like is is a lot of life behind him right And Amanda I can't say I can't say enough about her G. so so smart so it really really gifted and I couldn't have asked what better saint partner really and truly she so spread but she's also character she seems we don't really meet her mom much. She's very much in our head to. She's very much her father's daughter in this guy. Yeah that's something that we were interested in exploring. Her mother is a is a white woman right in the show so we will Exploring this idea of her coming into her own identity or trying to figure out who she is. Monkey Life Our Father and his own connection to this music which is deeply rooted in all culture as a black man is something that we came to believe that her character was craving. You know So I think that's part of why we see them while they feel similar in a way 'cause they both have this like searching pink both insurgents of something of themselves. That has maybe been lost so. I'm glad you felt that as we really were. We were aiming today awesome. Andre thank you so much. This is awesome congrats on the show. I know I think we kind of had a feeling like it was almost like because there wasn't options like okay you could fly there and start we do fit you start fittings and like start it but my sister and I know we had this feeling of like I don't think that's s just not right. Something's going to happen and I also heard a lot about like friends. Productions that were shutting down like if these are shutting down. Like we're GONNA. We're definitely going to be shutting down to so it wasn't huge surprise me but it's obviously something that like we're still looking forward to. I mean it's not. It's not like it's not happening but just not happening right now. So wandering vibe is this to move you. You decided to do together. I'm sure you've probably had scripts thrown at you years. Oh this is perfect for sisters. This is perfect for sister. Why have is the one? I think it was also a choice of 'cause I mean we always wanted to work together. Obviously I think it's the right timing like in our lives now to That it really is gonna mean something because it's not like we're just super young doing it like right now. It's like we're women you know and our relationship to is also more friends you know at this point because we're only four years apart so when you're young you're like your sisters and your like knowledge time and clothes and heard about the book a for a while and any been kind of floating around for a bit and The book is so powerful and also we were curious like if we did something together would replace sisters like or would we not play sisters. I'm like people when you look similar. We think we nothing like we were like. We look a bit like people like Souso. We don't like that but it was like okay. No this is a true like sister. Story represents kind of end the the layers to that and also the misunderstanding. These also were kind of misunder. They misunderstand each other In is just so powerful. I can't get through the script. Like without sobbing. When are you going to direct? When do you direct? Oh God I want to badly Something that yeah I do want you badly and I think it's like you just gotTa find the right right story or like. What is it that you want to tell or? Is it going to be personal or is it? Is it not? Are you gonNA ride it or not? I mean no big questions I will for sure one day but I think about it a lot. I don't know producing now. So that's great. You are the ones that's going to make a difference. Welcome back to the big ticket. Here's Andre Holland who I caught up with from his home in Brooklyn New York he stars in Eddie as a jazz club owner in Paris. He's trying to mend his relationship with his teenage daughter has come to live with him from the states directed by La La Land Director Damian Chazelle the series features. Plenty of drama love and giants. So the Eddie yes great. Great series really. Just cinematic beautiful. The Look of it is just. It's you know it's it's jazz paintings almost like you really. I love the balloon of it and the saturation of color. So tell me how did you get involved with? Eddie you knew Damian Chazelle Gala History. There moonlight yet. Thank you for the kind words. Yeah we met back during that time and and and we manage has got along. I appreciate all the maintenance told him. He was at one of the parties in Toronto. Maybe the film festival like this sounds like one day we get a chance to make something together and Yeah you gave me a call. Last year. January sent me the script medicine in Santa Monica. Had a great lunch about it. And it's on the phone a few times subsequently then yeah we would have made it so it was cool and then you went to Paris then. We went to the some repairs. It could be a lot worse so tell tell us what is the Eddie the series and then the club yes so So the series is set in contemporary. Aris it revolves around his band and this club both of which are called the Eddy Itself is made up of a group of friends who've come together from different parts of the world. They all come to the band in need of some sort of or grounding my character Elliot is the leader banning composers most the music plays occasionally but not so often and he comes to the BAMACA'S. He's just gone. He's gone through a traumatic event which. I won't give away And he comes to Paris to sort of put himself back together again and his best friend play by to hear. Tahara he'd read in the show. The two of them started his club together and running together for for the last few years. And so the show to me is about healing about second chances in ultimately at the center of it. You have a relationship between my character. Ed Mandala Steinberg's character who she plays my daughter who is in need of her father at this particular where he happens to be unavailable so about that relationship. Healing the ban trying to fight to keep this little space of creativity for themselves. And as I say sort of healing in second chances and your character's name is Elliott and it's very much in his head. There's a lot like you're like what's he planning. What does he know? What doesn't he know you see a few outbursts? Where at son of things? Just get too much at some point. Tell us about Elliot. What what did you like about the character? What what did you dive into to really get in Elliott? It was a tricky one because there are so many. He's got so many spinning at any moment. automated thing that attracted me to it was the fact that he's gone through this related traumatic event and and is in my opinion buried deep deep deep in the grieving process so it was interesting to me to try to investigate a character who is going through the also attracted relationship that he has with his daughter. I couldn't remember a time. Still can't remember a time when I've seen onscreen a relationship with a black man at his black daughter sort of front and Center. I so I found that really interesting and in the music you know. I grew up loving music of all kinds secretly sold Gospel and blues. Get a chance to learn. More About Jazz was refunded of course as sampled for working with Damien. Which was was that was really a joy. I mean one of the things that happen when the show first announced and you still see people keep describing it as a musical people are thinking. It's the new La La la La land in Paris which it's not it's not a musical musical performances and music plays a big hard in the show. What did you have to do a deep dive on Jazz? Did you have to? You know? I'm not gonNA pretend I know jazz. I mean the museums beautiful but I don't know it intimately how intimate you have to get with the music because it's such a big part of this show. Yeah Good Question Man. We had to get intimate with it. You know as I said I came to loving music but not really knowing that much about it so at a read. A bunch of books about Washington Spoke to a lot of musicians and scholars and thinkers in that space. Which really helped me to come to understand the history of And then on the technical aspect I had to play the piano. You didn't play before us. No you know. Unfortunately as is the nature with television. You don't always have as much time as you want. Wish you have but you. May We get hats. I had two different piano teachers. Who at work with one here in New York and it on to Paris in the one from New York came to Paris yet or so any moment. That was not set shooting. I was pretty much glued to that piano. So yeah definitely a deep dive on it and Really is something that I've I've come to love keep continued explorers Likeness Joanna Coolant. I mean I couldn't take my eyes on my ears off her. Tell us who she plays and tell us about her incredible voice we know she has an incredible voice. But this is just I just kept saying my husband. I can't stop watching her you yes. She's such a great. She's such a great human being so glad that we have to is together. She's so so funny so charming as she had an enormous task you know she had to learn. I think sixteen songs in a Lotta time. Some were in English. Someone French neither which her native language obviously was. She really rose to the occasion in did. Yeah so she plays Maya. Who's like these singer of the band and she and I've had a tricky asked. But you know I sort of I say at one point in show that she she's my muse. I don't see quite like that I think. Sheep Elliott is in is as you say he's in his head. I think he's obsessed with this idea of light projects things onto other people so I think that he should to up with his jeans. To impose his genius on someone else and she's good and she's available and she's In a bit of a difficult place in our own life and so their relationship.

"But you know I don't think like when you have they. If your show or movie about a woman, it's like they don't have to be the bravest person in the room. Like. That's okay. You know even Catherine as a character. She is a go getter in brave which some she's learning from everyone else around her, and like even learning from Peter like who's our worst enemy, but she's learning a lot from him, too. So is this it's it's. She's not. Some woman comes in and as we know For their alert, you know Nicholas. Peter the Great and you guys have some intimate scenes. Larry Intimates How did you not just the words that are coming out of his mouth? How did you not just break and just start? Dying I would. We would be. Laughing we would push each other i. mean we in I think our dynamic in real life. We love each other to death, but it's just kind of similar sparring dynamic that we really love to challenge each other because I think we. We are really quite similar in the way we work and I don't know if it's because of the child actor aspect of our lives, but on sets it just feels like our home. We were so comfortable with each other, and we liked to push each other's buttons. especially with those scenes that Tony is written of sitting at the breakfast table, and just going back and forth then, and then of course like the crazy sex scenes where he's just like spewing nonsense and I'm just like laying there, but I would even be. Like offscreen like. I would be like literally. Munching on a pillow laughing so hard just like all right. Let's get it together like home faster like let's go. Just do it do it. But we always wanted make the scene funnier better funny when I grunted there or should I do this here? This that so we always just for the good of the scene. We were trying to go for it and I think that was a big thing for me because it is obviously a comedy and I'm not super used to doing comedies. Like where it's really a specific rhythm and There are jokes and I had to. Learn to also like not be embarrassed like in throughout the months of filming I my walls, kind of went down to be able to not be. Like as embarrassed with my with myself. and. You've got to wear some outfits. Just. Sure. Yeah those course it's I. Mean Your Chances Practically Up to your Chin at some know. Booth aren't big like what. Is, what are they? Gun puzzle the poster of top Gun. That's amazing that you found that. So. Let's talk about the great. It's so much fun good good. So. Tell me like okay. Let's just start tell everyone. The Great, okay. Yes The great is Show a ten episode series that is about. Catherine the Great S- rise to power she. It starts that when she's she's quite young and she arrives in Russia for the first time. She's extremely optimistic and open and romantic, slightly naive to. To what is about to happen to her life? And she you know she she's going to marry appeared great. WHO's played by Nicholas Holes WHO's the emperor of Russia Russia? And she meets him, and he is definitely not anything that she thought he was going to be, and reality hits interface, and she quickly realizes. That she needs to kill her husband's. For her life to be okay. And it's Tony McNamara road it. Who wrote the favorite? And so it's in that tone of irreverent and witty. In a satire, but it's it's a dark dark comedy for sure and loosely based on historical facts we're not. We're not here trying to give a history lesson to anyone but also there are. There are elements in each episode. So that are true. You know slightly based on what Katherine did. I mean obviously Catherine the Great. was actually a a figure that I wasn't taught in school. I didn't know much about her. I knew like that. She had sex with a horse propaganda. You know the lesson. For marie-antoinette. So she see? That's what I knew about her. Which is extremely sad. But she's you know she's I came to learn that. She's this kind of feminist icon. And she brought enlightenment's Russia and brought female education and Art Science and really did amazing things and invented the roller coaster as well. she's quite fun. After my husband and I watched it, and after we watched it. You know it's one of those shows that you get onto wikipedia. A great. Care I knew about the Horse Story Yeah. No, who is true or not? But didn't realize that this was a woman who changed Russia. Yes? Really young like you said was the sort of this feminist icon. Completely in I think. Tony I mean for us. It was like. Reading the script like for the first time, the whole the process of that, but it because it was a play that was put on in Australia that that Tony had done. In years ago, and then it was gone. impossibly be a movie and I read the movie script that actually spanned much more her life. It was her young until like her up until her death and then there was talk of Hey, like there's so much information TV so hot right now, or what are let's do a TV show and would and Tony asked if I would help like kind of develop it with him and Come on as producer which was huge of for me and also. I felt a lot like Kathryn finding my voice in that space as a young woman, and obviously I've grown up in. In the film world and the behind the scenes, aspect has always been something. That's really interested me, but. This kind of took it to a new level of like going on pitches and going to different this you know the streaming services trying to sell yourself and like would also be creative, and but then have this business mind, and like I was kind of learning to find my voice and speak up. as as well so it was, it was interesting. Finding. My power to which is truly what the series is about is like. You know finding. Finding your power and not wanting to live a powerless life and fulfilling your destiny fate and all that, but I think that I just love that she. She. AM So allergic to like strong female character that turn like what does that mean like? And she? She is strong, of course she had, but she has moments of complete weakness, and like I was more interested in those hearts, because I when reading the script I would question if she's even ready for this. The character that arbitration of Catherine like is she gonna be able to rule Russia like at times. I, absolutely not and she questions herself, and she has this kind of beautiful arrogance, and like Gee this ego that she doesn't apologize for that. I really love playing around with I. Think as women we always want to apologize for ego or actually knowing the right way and she doesn't and. That was.

"Cereal, right? Right. Sure. Your cereal out of a Bong. Wow. Yes. Sorry. Oh, wow. You you have nothing to the imagination. Theater the mind bite me basically where where that is right now. I will get we'll be getting into more President Trump's address tonight on Tony cat today at eleven o'clock, and I am not done discussing. The Indianapolis city county council, which has added time to parking meters increase the hours of parking meters. To raise a million dollars allegedly. They're gonna use to fight homelessness will I don't I'm not buying. They haven't said how they're gonna fight panhandling yet, which is a willpower conversation. They've also reduced the speed limit twenty five miles an hour in the mile square. And they've gotten rid of right? Turn on red. Just so were as clear as day what's happening from the Indianapolis city county council from the political left and from from the right from people like Zach Adamson, and Colleen fanning and the rest of the Republicans. With very few exceptions. Because only they're only three people who voted against this Christine scales is one of those people. This is about social engineering and getting people into the idea that they shouldn't drive downtown or make it difficult to drive downtown. And then I'll well thank goodness we have a red line. I argue that this is a massively duplicitous group of people who are ideologically. Hell bent on this conversation. Zach Adamson is not in favor of growing a city. Zach Adamson is a social Justice warrior who doesn't want you to eat meat who wants to block traffic. So he can help in a protest for janitors that lily and thinks that cars are the devil. Maybe stretching that third part, but not by much you're lowering speed limits making it now you can't turn right on red. You're hurting businesses by increasing the times for parking meters. You're oh, you're you're hurting businesses left. And right. You're totally fine. With that. You're you're thrilled with that. You it's amazing. What you're willing to do city county council when you have no skin in the game. When you have no money. That you lose. You don't have to worry about how you're going to take care of your family because of this. Now, you're totally fine experimenting on somebody else's back. It's pretty ugly. If you ask me. But you're gonna raise the parking meters to get a million dollars for street sweeping and for homelessness. Let's see what happens the meantime panhandling. We're in January spring will be here before you know, it what will the streets. Look like, then what is the city county council going to do about it? Or is there another resolution? They can pass that somehow will save us all like, you know, not eating meat or wait. Where's where's the anti straw legislation? Where's the anti resolution guaranteed? We see that in the next three months place, your bets traffic.
