The Mcstay Family Murder: Setting the Scene
"The mcstay family had recently moved into their new house on on a nice cul de sac in fallbrook California Nets. At the time they disappeared. They had relocated from a beachside apartment in San Clemente. Joey and summer next day had been making plans working on home renovations when they stopped responding to texts and phone calls on February Fourth Twenty ten Joseph was forty he owned and operated earth inspired products misses a business at designed installed water fountains. It had been. Joey's dream to be self employed Loyd in order for him to spend as much time as possible with his sons Johnny h four and Joseph Junior h three. Joey's summer was a licensed assist real estate agent. She taken some time off in order to be a stay at home mother. Yeah and to work on the house. 'cause there was a lot of work to be done there. They big cleanser this house. Stay Dead Joey and summer had each been married once before when they met and according to friends they fell in love quickly and they were just crazy about each other and quite happy. So let's go into summer. Joey's history is a bit just to get a better understanding of who they were as people and who they were as a couple before this all happened. So Joey's birth name was Joseph Allen Ashley. His Mother Susan married his biological logical father. Robert Lee right out of high school but the marriage just didn't last very long at all. Susan then met Patrick mcstay. Nineteen in seventy one and Patrick was quite happy to take over his. Joey's father he and Susan married in nineteen seventy two. They were married and and Patrick adopted Joey with Robert. Ashley's permission which I found pretty interesting and with this adoption Joe. His name was legally changed to Joseph. Brian mcstay then in nineteen seventy-three. Joey's brother Michael was born. And Joey was a doting big brother. Who really love to help out with Michael's care but unfortunately Patrick and citizens marriage didn't last long either and they divorced in nineteen seventy five and and they would continue to have some back and forth issues over the years? Although Susan remarried and maintained custody of Joey and Michael the two boys did continue to spend in time with their father Patrick and for a while in his teens joey went to live with his dad in Dallas Texas. So according to Patrick the father he was is very close with Joey. A very good relationship is consistent adopted kid right right Berkeley her very good relationship. Well I mean. He came in pretty early in. Joey's life so there wasn't a lot of you know arguing back and forth about anything not a lot of that. You're not my real father stuff through now. Joey met his first wife Heather in nineteen ninety and they got married in nineteen ninety two in nineteen ninety six. They had a son now. Al Joanne Heather lift in San Clemente near the beach. Had his father's pretty wealthy Yona jewelry store in Laguna beach but he really likes Joey and he helped give his daughter just an absolutely beautiful wedding and before he met and married Heather Joe. It had several jobs he worked as a waiter and bartender. He also started his own small business designing and selling products now later. He began designing small waterfalls and fountains in his garage. He borrowed a little bit of money from his father opened a shop which he called Naturally Dana Point and by late nineteen ninety six was quite successful. He had made over two hundred thousand dollars in sales then he brought his brother Michael and open naturally DP fountains with the least warehouse for the production. So he's starting to move up a little bit here. Yes very hard worker very motivated. But Heather enjoys marriage. Rich fell apart and he found out that heather was having an affair and she had become pregnant by her lover but still he kind of blamed himself at least in part are because he'd been working a lot so he wasn't spending much time with her. He tried to work things out even told heather that he would happily raise the new baby as his own But it was too late. Heather was already in love with this other guy and she decided on a divorce but apparently this was devastating to joey. He was still in love with heather so he was pretty heartbroken and depressed any moved in with his mom and according to her he went through months and months of depression. He and his brother Michael continued to run the fountain business though and eventually they got together with a computer expert named Dan. Kavanagh Dan and help them build a website so they could begin doing their business as earth inspired products online so people could go online and order fountains so this is really opened up things for them then. Joey did meet summer. That was in two thousand four. They were introduced by. Joey's friend who was named macgyver. So I don't remember. He had enough his parents liked the TV show. It's a strange name choices in it or yeah so summer was just breaking up with her longtime boyfriend. Vic and Joey and summer's relationship moved fast but she was worried about how vic was going to react to her being with someone a new so soon she didn't own a house with vic and had to go through the legalities of getting her name off of the property in the mortgage and getting some money out of that so summer was a bit eccentric and she had been known by more than one name so this would end up causing a lot of speculation after the family's family's disappearance like what was going on with her. She was born Virginia Lisa Aranda and had also been known as SUMMER MARTELLI SUMMER ARANDA RANDOM MARTELLI LISA Aranda and Lisa Martelli Summers mom raised her and her two siblings on her own as a single mom in both California and Chicago and according to summer's mother Martelli was the surname of Summers Stepdad. Now another thing that summer did that would lead some people to question things was that she was also known to have taken some years off her age when speaking to people. But there's no evidence that she used this new birth date on any legal documents family members including her sister. Heavens suggested that her name changes were just her own preference and it wasn't anything anything to avoid any legal entanglements. She was just the kind of person who wanted to make up her own name. She went to live in California and be named summer and she did did. She did it so summer gave birth to Joey's first son Johnny in two thousand five and in less than two years later Joseph Junior was born a summer had an aversion to hospitals and both boys were delivered at home shortly after Joseph. Juniors born Joe in summer got married and this is a small ceremony in Orange County. The summer side of the family didn't attend. She didn't seem very close to family. And this worry. Joey's mother so the night before the wedding summer had called her family s and not to come to the wedding and stole his mom. Susan was never quite sure awesome redundant no but it seems like. Joey knew why he wasn't questioning it. So you know there were issues but what family doesn't have issues really. Were your those issues. His issues right and these were a little extraordinary. I guess but who knows what was going on and it was a small second marriage. So maybe it wasn't a big deal. Having family. There is a bigger deal to some people than others where I would put that as a priority. I'd like they're where my family at my wedding. Of course right. Yeah but not all. My family came to my wedding. We'll important one stood. Oh okay well. According to a lot of people though summer was very jealous of Joe his first wife Joey and heather shared custody of their son Jona. Joey's friends friends and family said that summer was very caring Jona even though she wasn't always thrilled with heather. Summer did complained to her sister. Tracy that heather would barge barge into their house regularly. You know even walking in when Joey's in the shower kind of weird and she would drop off Jona without calling ahead and just kind of expect. Expect summer to Babysit so summer was trying to get along and she put up with it at first but eventually she told Joey that she was going to have to break up and leave if he didn't set some boundaries with the ex wife now to me that seems totally reasonable for those to me too yeah. I'm not just a working or drop off daycare right. No Yeah and you're not married to him anymore. So what are you walking into the House for is if you live here. Durham my house. Yeah Komo Yard. That's right so I totally get that. I mean it's territorial thing if nothing else plus. It's disrespectful very disrespectful. To summer summer and to summer and Joey's relationship maybe not the best thing for Jona to see either possibly not

"Welcome to things to do in San Diego. I'm your host Suri Manelli and today I'm really excited about fallbrook and our guest is Jamie purring. Tin The owner of hide off magazine and hike it off clothing. She's an avid hiker and she told us about some of the most amazing places to hike the Santa Margarita River which is incredibly beautiful and incredibly diverse verse with a three hundred year old canopy so whereas fallbrook in relation to San Diego. It's the north most city in San Diego. cownie money on the fifteen before you hit temecula and it's on the backside of oceanside so it's not exactly coastal but it's not east county either and and what's really fascinating about fallbrook is it's got several wineries. It's really small friendly town. A lot of artists is there. So you're gonNA find a lot of those little tiny shops galleries teacups antics. Things like that There's a little bit of history there. There used to be a train. There's no longer train but they're used to train. The goes went through there in the eighteen hundreds and so there's a lot of history about that and there's also a gem and the mineral museum which is really fascinating. There's some other unique things but we'll wait to let Jamie tell us about that in the interview one more thing to know about the show. Is that neither my guest nor I get compensated in any way for any of the places that we talk about on the podcast. And that's so important to me because I want it to remain authentic as if you were talking to a friend. Who's in that town and they're telling you all the really cool places to go? The the way I do get compensated is if you go to things to do in San Diego Dot. US You can find a link for Patriot on. And I always appreciate it when people send me need those Patriot donations that helps inspire me to keep going with the show and I might on occasion also put some affiliate links in the show notes. But just know anytime I do that. Not only are they clearly labeled but I'm only putting in affiliate links that I think are appropriate and that would help you like if it was for booking hotels or concert tickets or or whatnot anyway. My purpose for the show is for you to have the best day ever in in San Diego and so here we go with Jamie talking about fallbrook. What's tall famous for farmers for Avocado cottage? So we're actually known as the avocado capital of the world. I don't know how true that is but I love to think that it is true So we have lots of farms to very rural community. Lots of Avocados. And we're getting a lot of grape growing as well for wine grapes so it's a pretty rural part of the county I and it's really beautiful. and the weather's just awesome involve break. There's a few festivals what what are the festivals that they're known for them while our biggest festival that were known for Awards Avocado Festival and that takes place every year. In April we have about one hundred twenty thousand people that come out for the day and it's it's just a lot of fun. There's a log avocado stuff so there's guacamole contest. There's dressing avocado contest. There's you can buy all kinds of avocado type hype things whether they're edible. Avocado Shakes Fried Avocados or things made out of avocado itself. So Avocado would bulls all that. So it's really just away from town to get together and invite hundred twenty thousand of our closest friends and celebrate avocado everything that we can use them for and and then there's another. I think you mentioned that there was also a second kind of festival there. Third with what other festivals are there similar to our local festivals. We have a what is called wine in a bite and that is where local businesses in the downtown area pair up with restaurants and wineries and it's a walking type festival. Will you walk from business to business where you'll get a little piece of food and it's paired with wine from a local winery. The chamnber handles that also just launched a new one that is populism bruce so seem similar concept instead of wine in food it's beer and in different various forms of potatoes. So let's talk a little little bit more to give our listeners an idea of whether or not they want to come to fallbrook to stay or just make it a day trip. So can you tell people about outlined the transportation safety and then we'll go into where they would stay since fall workers rule those not the a lot of public transportation and the downtown area is very walkable so you can walk in shop. All the shops down there and get to quite a few of the restaurants but as far as accommodations. I always recommend when I have friends visiting. If they're not staying with me to look at AIRBNB so there's a ton of really cute little airbnb that are available. While some are on avocado farms. Some are on ranches. So you're really looking for a place to get away. That's rule and kind of quiet and slow definitely definitely check out Work if they wanted to go downtown. How far would it take Helen's it take you to get to downtown from Fallbrook Dunton Gun Ted Kennedy. It's about well with a traffic so without traffic. It's about forty five minutes with traffic Republican. We got an hour and a half. Yeah it's way up there. I mean it's Kinda surprising that it still San Diego County yet and we don't have traffic in Faubourg so you can escape the traffic and come forward. There's traffic it might be because there's like a flock of wild peacocks. Crossing the road or something. They have to wait for but That's about it. And then what else is fall were close to. I know it's close to Basel. which is another rural town? Yeah so farmers really close the bonds will it's close to the backside of oceanside and it's also close to Temecula so fabric is a good place to come and stay at your planning on Wayne Teaching as well as you can kind of experience both both the rural aspect of fallbrook and then wine tasting getting into Macula. Let's start with the museums. There's the gem and Mineral Society that event to with the kids. Yeah the Gem Mineral Society is really fun. If you're into you know crystals or any kind of rocks it's really great for kids So you can go in there and learn a lot about that sort of thing but they also have a glow on the dark room so there's minerals that glow in the dark so it's really fun to kind of go check that out and see them under black light in an experience that definitely a good kids place my kids just they think they spent like an hour in their shopping at things. Yeah Great Place and the General Society also hosts their own little festivals. A couple times a year as well which you can get that information on our website and it's waving kinda go buy buy stuff from that and people come with all their different rocks walks in minerals and gems is your second museum there or is there something else that was interesting. Wasn't there something. We have the historical society the former Kostoric society is basically geared geared toward the history of Albert put fabric was a big train depot. Back in the day so so it was built that attribute depots bill eighteen eighty two Basically was a stop on the way from San Diego. That train shot continued tenure up the Santa Margarita River which is river valley that we have here in fallbrook and out into Temecula the tracks themselves have been washed out a couple of times and and repaired and so because of that because of the train coming through here is really a big reason of why Farkas even here it has to do with a lot the history. The train was finally closed in nineteen eighty one and the train depot itself was torn down. That's where our sheriff station is now but the Warehouse House next to the Sheriff's Station is art center. And that is one of the original buildings. Supposedly the historical society talks all about that. There's historical artifacts in Nair with train. Stop and tons of photos is just a really neat place to go. If you're a trained buff the historical society also has installed An old caboose right in on Main Street in downtown and so it's really cool with your kids will not I love it. I've taken my picture in front of a million sometimes but It's just a fun little quirky thing just like how Faubourg is you know funding quirky but eventually that is going to be the future railroad wrote Heritage Park. So that's part of it in the works so I want to point out the irony. So it's a real root tumble. You cannot get there by train not anymore. Ah Make sure that that I can totally see somebody. Misunderstanding us in like trying to figure out how to get the train. Yeah I know so. The train was shut down in one thousand nine hundred eighty in. What was the last train to come through fall break okay? Although there is a legend that you can still hear the train's Horn in town And have you heard it. I have not okay enough to downtown to Europe. There's a lot of locals that's where that that they can still hear it. That's interesting Hebrew coffee places because it seems like some of these rural towns have like a more of those mom and POPs so we have two that are privately owned. They're both equally adorable in equally. Have great copy Brick town is right on main street. And it's just great to go. There's Cubal charity consider up front. It's really cozy inside and it's actually connected to a wine bar now so it's in the morning and get your copy in the evening Lots lots of local wine and then we also have former coffee company which is just off main street and it's really cute little cottage and it just feels when you walk. It just feels like a cute little coffee place in there will really cozy okay. Let's talk about restaurants. There's not too many but I know that you've got if you favorites. She said yard so I have two of my favorites and their pull equally awesome. So I'm not going to see which one is my favorite but once you stop in west West and small town They're both family owned and the food is incredible. Small town of specially focuses a lot on local goal food. I know that's been popular for a long time. But they really live by so they have these mushroom tacos that are unseen and I went in a couple weeks. They didn't have them only because they couldn't get the mushrooms locally so they didn't just go buy them from somewhere else in the tacos It forced me to try something else which was great because everything. There's just amazingly good and the owners of the type that you walk in. And they give you cog in there. Thank you for coming back. So it's it's just an awesome locally to go eat beat my husband. I usually go there on Friday night. Date night they do serve local wines and local beers and they do some events as well so I know they're doing a really Nice Valentine's Day dinner that's a four five course. Wine paired dinner dot com stuff and then.

Pediatric Cancer Close to a Cold War Era Nuclear Energy Testing Site
"This week. We talk about a young girl called grace who contracted an extremely rare form of leukemia. A Mother Melissa bombs did was put into place. Many of us never even think about putting everything on the line in the battle to save. I loved ones on that journey. Melissa began discovering that the potential causes of Greece's Kanter may not be very far from so Melissa's. Maybe start by telling us how you decided to move to this community and where we are well right now now. We're just outside of Seamy Valley. I grew up in thousand oaks which is only about five more miles from where we are right. Now I went to Los Angeles for college and when my husband in an I ready to start a family we were looking for a community that was close enough to Los Angeles for work but it was safe. I checked out all the Megan laws to make sure that that was safe. I checked out all the schools check out all crime. I mean I really did quite a bit of research because we wanted to provide the best that we could for our children so you're so you're looking around for homes. Where did you end up locating well. it was a rather miraculous purchase but our first home was on Fallbrook Avenue Avenue in West Hills thirty miles out from Hollywood or we're very close which is why West Hills was so ideal. It's it's the community for people who can't commute too much wjr but also want to be close to work. It's a fairly affluent area calabasas right down the hills where all the celebrities live and it's a nice well to do comfortable city okay so you'll living this new life and and what happens next well when my daughter was four years old she started bruising using and she is a very active kid she's always been a Alpha female since day one name a Grace Grace Allen and so when she started bruising and I took her to the doctor. They said she's just really active little girl. There's no problem here in. I pointed out like she was. She has little bruises on her forehead red and they said well. I'm sure it's fine and they sent us home. A couple of weeks later call back and I said it doesn't feel right. I got brushed off again. Finally leash she had a giant purple scar down her whole side and I called back the doctor and said this. This can't be normal most doctors. I will never have a cancer patient and so I like to think that's why he didn't move quickly three days later. We were finally informed. That grace had every symptom of leukemia. We ended up at Children's Hospital. Los Angeles where on January twentieth we learned that she had an exceptionally rare form incredibly aggressive aggressive form of leukemia call the positive The Philadelphia Chromosome Ehlo and just as a mom and a family. I mean that's just just going to be a terrifying. I mean Con- imagine getting that news. Your whole life stops and everything crashes. We were impatient immediately for week but when I got home I would not mean to but I would just stop in the middle of an intersection forget that I was driving. I was forget where I was going. It's it's it's more than life changing really. It's hard to describe because a lot of these feelings. I have not allowed myself to process a lot of these memories. I've really worked hard hard to keep them away. Just now coming to a place where I'm starting to feel and remember and it's a hard place to go back to to be honest. It wasn't the first time she was diagnosed. That was the worst for me. The worst day of my life was when she relapsed a year and a half out of treatment that that to me was is a thousand times worse than the first one because we immediately knew that her survival rate on a on a clinical trial the first time was seventy percent survival rate which to everyone else sounds really great until the cancer parents. That's one three out of ten children and they don't tell you up front who those three are going to be so. It's not amazing in but you know it's it's there's hope when she relapsed they would not tell us her survival rate and I think it's because they knew we would lose all hope. We knew immediately that she she would need to have a bone marrow transplant. We knew what type of chemotherapy she would have. We knew she would have radiation. I mean we knew we knew what we how bad it was going to be and I think that's why the second time was so much worse than the first time the first time we were pretty naive and how did grace. How did she react react to two oldest like as a kid. You're going through this really you know and especially adults we know more like how is she coping well. It's it's interesting because I think most people assume that childhood cancer. Is You know some throwing up some discomfort in the worst parts you lose. Your hair turns out losing your child losing their hair. The easiest part of the entire journey everything else is a thousand times worse and fortunately when grace was four years old she still really really looked to my husband and I for approval and so she and because she was at the Children's hospital all the time in all the children in her ward are all bald. That was a comfortable place for her by the time she was in second. Grade is she. She knew that other kids had hair she. She knew you that she was different. She knew right after I mean the minute after we told her that she had relapsed she said am I going to die. She knew everything to and and that's tough on a kid and it was tough on my son who was only two and a half when she was diagnosed and if grace had a fever in the middle of the night we had one hour to get her life saving antibiotics so it was an emergency situation to get straight down to the children's hospital and I couldn't wake him up at three in the morning and say goodbye I but sometimes they'd be gone for three to four weeks inpatient and so he he developed a lot of a lot of his own issues and problems and heartache heartache I mean our whole family was affected. My daughter had the worst of it obviously but I don't think people quite realize the trauma brings to the entire family so because graces his cancer was so aggressive did did she need different or more kinds of treatment. She ended up having ten times. The regular dose of chemotherapy than a standard leukemia child would have and so we we spent longtime impatient because it was so devastating on her body auty. "We've been doing this for more than a decade. Maybe fourteen years they've been going. They have raised one hundred and eighty five million dollars, given it to twenty two thousand twenty two thousand wounded warriors out there to help them in various ways in ways that the government doesn't, but that you can help with one of them is private first class Isaac United States, Marine corps. Marine blunt, welcome to the program. Great to have you on the program. Thank you for having me where do I find today? I am based out of fallbrook, California. Oh, no touching MRs Hewitt. My wife is a fallbrook warrior grew up in that town. So I know fallbrook, well, although it was a long drive to go and dater when were you injured, how're you at your house, your recovery going? I was injured June. Thirteen thousand eleven and I was in singing Afghanistan. Stepped on a pressure plate. I eighty that took both my legs four fingers on my left hand and my left eye. My gosh. My recovery's been. It's it's been interesting. It's actually been a great. Bless you know, my wife in a way. Recovery's been going awesome, though, I've had crates important network especially with simplify fund, and they had made it made it much easier recovery than I could ever expect. You know, how did you connect with them after you got blown up a private plan? How did they find you go the very first time that I actually got got in touch with fi find ways when I got to about four. Was a second place that I went to after I had all my surgeries. And they had. Seventy with. Getting a vehicle and then match the car grants that I got from the military, and they got me dummy hooked up half of the half the cost of the car and me to get my independence back. Until Isaac talking about getting your pants back even climbing mountains. Yeah. I climb now cardiovascular in Australia back in two thousand thirteen. See I wasn't going to attempt to pronounce that without your help. Makasi osco. How difficult climb is that. It was it wasn't very technical. But we did go through go in one of the toughest part of the years. We actually got stuck in a blizzard. Oh, so we're we're in tents on the side of the mountain for three days and the first couple of days was a little little gnarly. We had I walking through all that. That was going on my legs were calling into the snow quite a bit. So walking through the brush and heavy snow. It was it was a little difficult few times that I fell in between a coupla folders. It pulled me out and think that my leg wasn't wasn't coming up with it. Oh, yeah. Gotta stop you. Private survive. Afghanistan, you go through this long recovery. If got your prosthetics, and you're climbing a mountain did it occur to you at anytime. 'cause I'm glad you did it. It's a great story. But did it occur to you? I went all the way to do this. Definitely wasn't something that I expected. I suppose it was. No, I didn't I didn't expect that at all. That is. So great though because people are out there in various stages of recovery. Not just wounded warriors. But everyone that you're climbing a mountain and a blizzard with prosthetics. I mean anything is possible, right? If you've got people like the separate five fund. Yeah. Great support network, then you can definitely do anything. And how is your daughter doing? I got the little girl her name dizzy, and she's doing well, she can be she's eight right now she's going through school, and she she loves it. She's really into science right now. Projects. I shall be a great fallbrook warriors. So we're going to root for Izzy and I wanna thank you. A private first class Isaac blunt, United States, Marine corps, retired great testimony climate under mountain come back next year and tell me about it. Let me go over and talk. Now, if I can with corporal Carlos Garcia, United States, Marine corps, corporal Garcia. Welcome to the Hugh Hewitt Show on Veterans Day, where do I find you today? I am actually in Marietta. How're you doing? I am great. I maryetta. Well, we had private blunt was in fallbrook Annamaria. Well, when were you injured, and and how's your recovery going? How were you injured? So I was injured in two thousand ten by glass is IX explosion that. Well, okay. You're injured in two thousand ten Isaac in two thousand eleven. This is a lifetime commitment the Semper. Fi fund stays with its warriors. Have you found that to be true? And can I reemphasize that to the audience with one hundred percent authenticity? Oh, absolutely. So when I was injured, I there was one particular woman that worm works with number five fund that has been with me throughout the entire recovery up until today. She. Pretty much. She's seen my children grow up. My me and my wife didn't our first daughter or our first child until two thousand twelve and she's had two cents. Then that is how is she been there? The entire time. Your wife is Jackie my notes, tell me how is she doing? She must be Saint and two little kids running around with the husband or that badly banged up. She's got to be a Saint she she is she really is. She was pretty much my rocks and about nine tire recovery. She helped me out through my darkest moment. And she goes on the caregiver retreats. I want to go back and re someone reminded me about this. And I think it's an important part of what Semper fi fund does has she been on those. Oh, absolutely. She tries to get on as many as she can to get away from for me. And my kids, of course. But what do they do? What does she like him? She likes some she's there with other spouses who have gone pretty much the same thing that we have. So she has someone there to communicate with about pretty much our struggles our daily issues so to speak that we have. You know, corporal, I used to brag the people that I was a double digit marathoner. But now that I see that you're a double digit marathoner with two prosthetics. I'm going to shut up about that. How how did you get into marathoning? It was it was really weird. So when I first started, it was hand cycling. And number five hundred they saw how pretty much the group of us worries bridge starting up, and then they were like, well, how hard how bad do you guys want this? And we're like well at this point in our recovery really want this really wanna push ourselves. So they helped us with hand cycle. And it was about ten of us who received hand cycle, and then all of us have done that multiple multiple hand cycling marathon because of those bikes that five unprovided for us see some of the guys love their action track. Wheelchairs, other of the men and women love the hand cycle. It's a spectrum of stuff. Right. Every wounded warrior needs something what they need. It really is usually for us. It's either physical activity or just being out there. For me. It was more physical activity to prove to myself. Just because I'm a double amputee, you know, nothing that injury isn't going to stop me from achieving Michael. So corporate last question you're in tomato. What's life? Look like you've got these two little girls run around. You got the wonderful wife in Jackie here yet. I mean, you gotta you gotta have a plan for ten fifteen twenty years. What's it look like when you think about that? Honestly as of now, I'm I'm pretty much living year by year. I hope the future's bright. I really do. You know, we we being my wife just started working fulltime. So we got that going for us. We just started this year. So it's as of now the looking the peaches looking very bright for us. Well, congratulations on on being an example to all of us civilians, especially on not complaining about small stuff. We have. No, we have no challenges you do and you have conquered them. And I thank you for sharing that my my congratulations to Jack in your kids as well Semper. Fi fund makes this possible America. You gotta.

"Radio station If I am forty more stimulating talk is the dark secret replace Brian suits in here on till eleven o'clock, or new hours by. The way eight pm to eleven so please enjoy, coming up in, the next break a naval mystery the mystery of the missing, man March of. Nineteen forty two a man overboard mystery that has not been. Sold to this day drone wars the first commercially available drones that were. Weaponized happened, in Syria and Iraq and they they happen because the men of ISIS who don't have an air force did have money. And had access to European markets and. For that matter markets in Turkey and so commercial drones usually under about two hundred dollars were purchased in Turkey off the off the market Just, in toy stores or whatever in Turkey brought into Syria and then the the simple, engineering matter of adapting the usual HD camera hookup underneath the drone to do something as. Simple as release a grenade was actually fairly simple if you if you don't know how this works I've met a couple of drones with HD, cameras on them or. With mounts where you can mount a little gopro, camera on them, and the drone communicates by direct wifi to your to an, app on your. Smartphone where you can use the gopro camera or the built. In camera as a sort of a virtual piloting cockpit where you can. Put the, camera forward and you can fly the drone around as if you're sitting there on the drone but you're looking at the. App on your phone is actually a. Lot of fun and that's how they do those drawn races like in Balboa park and things like that Anyway some of these drones can carry You know up to Up to two and a, half or three pounds and some of. The really significant ones the ones that are used for actual filmmaking or commercial production can can wield up to. Seven or eight pounds and so what was done by ISIS in Syria was a simple matter of replacing the, camera mount, underneath with With some sort of mechanical release or in many cases leaving the camera and using that as guidance system and then, including a mechanical release because as you. Recall nothing happened in ISIS world unless they had video of it and so starting about five years ago you began seeing these pretty amazingly, cinematic HD drone shots of a drone undetected at about a thousand feet coming over a Syrian army position or an Iraqi army position and then it would lower in place it, would lower a couple of hundred feet. And when it seemed to be stable and the the cameras seemed fixed over one particular area like a bunch. Of fuel or munitions or whatever the the drawn would drop a adapted forty millimeter grenade that had a thin For instance like tissue paper role for a tail fin something. Really really crude but it oriented and. Stabilize the projectile in flight so it would generally fly straight down and it would blow up on impact and they did this for hundreds, of times before they finally got a success they finally got a spectacular success in the form of exploding Syrian ammo dump and It looked like they had mastered drone warfare and so they were immediately copied they. Were copied in Yemen by the who sees they were copied by. ISIS in Iraq They were copied by ISIS inspired terrorists and, Libya but the guys in Syria. Were the originators of it and really the masters of the craft so some of them Began putting stories up on YouTube or other other sort of dark, web or even, slightly light regular web read it and fortune. Started putting how to videos on how to modify common battlefield munitions like forty millimeter grenades into. An, aerial drop impact weapon and Furthermore how to modify commercially available drone something that could get off van Masan and shipped to Turkey or whatever into a killing machine now the the range of these drones generally is not really more than a mile that goes more than a. Mile than it's going off GPS at which, point you have to, know the precise location of where the bad guy is and then you you drop the munition. Well so this was Successful as a propaganda play. In Syria but really not much more it was an annoyance as the Iraqi army overran Mosul about a. Year ago, the guys. There in in, Mosul the ISIS guys they had several years to prepare for this they had an arsenal of hundreds of a cheap little drones the ones that you get, for less, than eighty bucks at target or you can get them on Alibaba Amazon and they had nothing but time to modify them and, also to teach, their man how to utilize them so the. Iraqis had a lot of men wounded a few even killed but it was really more of. An annoyance and anything else but it did produce some pretty spectacular video of for ISIS you got this video of Iraqi soldiers running around after the first one hit or when they heard overhead so anyway fast forward now in Israel the HAMAs terrorists have been using kites and, it cetera too Start. Forest fires have been using drones but these rarely authorities have, not been releasing this to. The media well the jig is up because now the Egyptians are seizing huge. Shipments of cheap drones at the HAMAs get Gaza, crossing point and so now Gaza have guys. In basements doing nothing but making drone bombs so the drone, is now the asymmetric weapon of the little guy the next step, of course is somebody in the US is, going to do this you know it because it's all over the web is easy to do and someone. Else's already redoing it so anyway that's your drone warfare update it's cheap. Is it effective it's goal is to terrorize so is it, effective yes it is is going to win a war no.
