"Bugging, shuttering on sports Radio 90 to 9 game, So I always laugh at some of these. Stories that these guys put out. Okay, um Dez Bryant is the latest guy to let the world know how much longer he plans on playing in the NFL, saying he wants to play two more years, but he knows it won't be with the Baltimore Ravens. Hey, put out a string of tweets the other night, saying that I realized quickly. Baltimore wasn't the place for me. No bad blood. That's their way of doing things. So you gotta respect it, okay? Now. This past year, he played six games. With Baltimore. He had six catches for 47 yards, and he did have a couple of touchdowns. But he's Out here with the you know. Oh, I want to play a couple of more years. And this that the other, um, you know, talking about looking for a better opportunity. Quote. It's hard. I've been off for almost three years. I flash my ability to the point. That Hardball asked. Was I ready to play? Because he thought I was ready. You have to learn the playbook. Chemistry. The QB's to be on point, please. Yeah, I want to play a couple of years at seven. So here's the thing. Dez Bryant may want to play a couple more years. But does anybody the NFL one Dez Bryant That's the thing I was laughing. These guys make these proclamations on social media. I'm only gonna play three more years. What if nobody wants you for one? That's what meat coming out the same jobs I'm not going to tonight. Wanna play three more years in the NFL. Yeah, but nobody wants you. Yeah, but listen, you understand? I want to play three more years in the NFL. Thies guys put these crazy proclamations out there. Yeah, And at this point who's who's seriously looking at Dez Bryant as a viable option for your football team? Who's Who's out there saying, because, look, it's not like It's not like teams haven't had the ability to sign him over the last year, too. It's not like teams haven't had the ability to Together something for Dez Bryant. If you wanted him to be a part of your team, and the Ravens rolled the dice took a chance because they don't have a lot of skill position People wide receiver and said. All right, let's see. We got and Got nothing. Hey, score a couple touchdowns. That's good, but six catches for 47 yards. In six games. Mm. That tell you Does that scream? Hey, you know, at least Richard Sherman. Has something viable because he's had injuries, so, but he's been a productive player. Still so somebody like him coming out and saying, You know, I think I want to play a couple of more years, then call it quits. OK, the teams they're gonna want Richard Sherman, assuming he's healthy. That's a different scenario. But That's Brian is, you know six catches for 47 yards, who once does bride for two more years. What We're playing fish heads and rice to come in because outside of that, Who'd you give? Does write a two year deal right now? All right. We get back from the top of the hour time for our Falcons fly over. We'll hear from the head coach Arthur Smith, who did a zoom call with the media and what he had to say, plus a couple of things to get into with you as well. It's all next. Chuck. We're hanging out. Yeah. Course right after the game.

"Are they going to sign more veterans? I mean, because they don't have any young guys that they've drafted. When's the last time they drafted a legitimate tight end? I mean, it can't be Levin to Lolo or is the last time that they drafted legitimate tight end? Can't be the last time that they drafted one is it? I mean, I'm just trying to. I'm just trying very fast in my head. Think about it wins. The last time they drafted tight end You know, And so, you know, Look, they've been fortunate that they haven't had to draft a quarterback in this than the other. But now They have several positions on offense that at some point you gotta start saying, okay, we gotta start drafting some guys to get our well filled back up. Tight end running back offensive line quarterback. Those a position that they really haven't put a lot of capital in so I think when, when you talk about the quality of the picks that the Falcons invest in the top needs to be loaded with defensive players and maybe a running back or quarterback, you know, tipping on Where they sit. And you know if the right guy falls in your lap, but I think overall That you could make a case that this is almost a 50 50 draft as far as Because they need bodies, and we keep going back to the fact that you can't overlook the fact. The fewest players signed under contract in the NFL right now what you say to me, Jarvis 37 or 38. Players under contract is up to 39. Now they have 39 at the car come contracts right now. Yeah. So 39 players. So just think about trying to get to your 53 man roster. You know, you've got a lot of work ahead of you, and you don't have money to go out there and just start dumping into free agents and all that kind of stuff. So You know, That's why I say that From a balanced perspective. They may have to draft a lot more offenses stuff, not because these guys are going to step in and play right away, but they don't have enough quarterbacks. We're gonna talk in the flyover about the veterans available, but you're not gonna have four veteran quarterbacks. You could tell me that you know, and I keep seeing a lot of mock drafts that have like telling Monde. In the fourth or fifth round for the Falcons. Okay. I mean, that's the kind of guys that I'm talking about that that don't be surprised that you may be disappointed at four or whatever, they don't draft a quarterback right away. But they pretty much have to draft a quarterback somewhere. In this draft, and it's kind of funny that they drafted a partner in this than you because when's the last time was a Michael Caine was the last partner that they drafted. It was a very underrated picked by Thomas They've because they haven't had to invest in some of these positions. You know, it's not gonna cost him some draft capital. Why, When we get back, it's gonna be time for what's bugging Chuck Re. Um, if you want to play two more years, then somebody have to once you for at least one of those I'll explain next hanging out with here on sports writing after the game on the radio doctor, I'm half to nine. The game. What are also looks like right now certainly look different in coming months. The pieces are starting to come together or new Look. Falcons team is focused as we get ready for the 2021 NFL draft that the position you want to continue to add competition. And you want to get the best players that did the makeup standard that fit the physical talent that fit the skill set and we have a clear vision for what they're gonna be. You definitely want to take those the best player man. For the latest spoken news up to and including the NFL draft, keeping the year we have a doctor, that's what they're really.

I had a lot of injury concerns coming out, and he didn't look great this year. So, yeah, different injury of it, and Trevor Laurence is like 65 to 20. I still think guys that run that he had against Ohio State in the playoff. Not this past year with the beer before, is like up there with the Tommy Frazier run against Florida. Mike Vick Falcons run against the Vikings. The Steve Young run, uh in the playoffs. I think that was against the Vikings. It's just one of the all time great runs travel. "In car crashes than men? A new study suggesting it could be the kinds of cars they drive Men are involved in more fatal car accidents than women. But on a per crash basis, statistics show women are much more likely to be killed or hurt in those crashes. Now the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is that with a new study that says women more often drive smaller, lighter vehicles. And they're more likely to be the ones hit inside and front into rear crashes. Once you account for that, the difference in the odds of most injuries the ih s says narrows dramatically. Who is QB2 in 2021 NFL Draft?

"It would have been fully justified and with that we welcome you back as always live from the seaport district appear seventeen brought to you by chase. I green this get up and we have a huge our coming your wine. It starts with this. It's a quarterback sneak mc shays make board is in and wait till you see the first four picks. He's with us live to break down off the top. Then wait a minute. What did russell say. Is he talking about getting sri. Didn't from seattle the wild ride in. Nfl history continues. And then we'll tell you how the shawn watson saga plays out and what it will mean for every team in the nfl. All that and more as we get out with you when this hour which starts right now with todd mcshay post super bowl mock draft. It's available right now on espn plus all it. It's fascinating a number one. That's no big surprise. He's got trevor lawrence going number one to urban meyer and the jaguars. But here's where it gets interesting. He also has quarterbacks going to three and four at two he has the jets taking. Byu's zack wilson who has been rising up. Everybody's draft what he has been be talk of the nfl draft process so far at three overall. He's projecting trade the panthers moving up from eight to take north dakota state's train lance to be their quarterback of the future which leaves ohio states justin field sitting there. Four and mcshea has the falcons taking him fields the second highest total qbr in college football season and then jones sliding down a little bit later to make five quarterbacks in the first round in there he is the man with the mic board. It is mcshea and it's awesome. Let's start with this todd. We all understand. Trevor lawrence going number one. Nothing even to discuss. How firmly planted in. Your mind is zack. Wilson right now as the number two quarterback in this draft. I think very firmly. The first thing i do when the season is over and a govan studied the top quarterbacks. Because i know that's what we're going to talk about for the majority of this process leading up to the draft and after lawrence. There's a little bit of a gap and then at zack wilson. And then there's a gap between gods trey lance from north dakota state and justin feels from ohio state. So i think he is clearly the number two quarterback in this class. The question becomes greenie. Is that the jets taking two or the jets gonna move out and allow a team like a carolina to that number two spot to take him. And that all depends on the domino's in terms of the veteran quarterbacks right now where does shawn watson wind up carson wentz. We know is going to get moved to chicago indianapolis. I think joe douglas. The general manager is kind of waiting. And seeing some of these other quarterbacks go and he's fielding phone calls he's not aggressively making calls but fielding calls to see maybe if they can move sam darnold and if they do exactly since the pick for the jets at number two and if not as i said i think the jets will move outta to and wilson will still wind up being that number number two overall pick in this class. I grew the. I've been saying for a while. I agree with you completely. He'll be number two. The question is who winds up making the peck. Then the other part of this is. I'm old enough to remember a time when we wondered if justin fields might supplant trevor lawrence as the number one draft now all of a sudden these the fourth quarterback off the board. How did that happen. You go back. And study games against indiana northwestern. And then the college football playoff national championship game against alabama. He completed around fifty two percent of throws with five interceptions. Those games in my opinion. You look at it physically. He's big. he's sturdy strong who mobile. He's got a big arm all the traits that you look for. But he likes to see his receivers. Come open and get stuck on that. I read very frequently. So you compare him with trae. Lance and i have identical grades on the to train. Lance didn't play the level of competition. Didn't play as many games as is justin fields but i think he processes the game a little quicker in terms of going from his first into a second and third and seeing the entire field. So it won't surprise me if it feels is third quarterback off the board. But i think they're kind of bunched together in that third tier of quarterbacks behind lawrence wilson and then the other two and then i want to ask you about the guy that you currently have fifth because i'm a regular listener of the first draft podcast and so i'm listening the other day to you and field. Yates and mel kiper talking about what was going on at the senior bowl and everyone is raving about matt jones. Your buddy mel had max jones moving this thing and i believe he has him sort of. I believe he hasn't projected higher than you have in projected. What do you see for mack. Jones as this process goes on the fifth quarterback in the first round. Well i think what's going to happen. He's matt jones is going to benefit from the fact that these four quarterbacks are gonna come off the board quickly and it's probably going to be cut because of trades moving up. I have matt jones going number twelve overall right now in a i had chicago moving up to twelve in san francisco. Moving back to twenty we have to see where carson wentz go. It does go to

New trailer for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier premieres during Super Bowl

"Want to talk a little bit about the falcon and the winter soldier trailer for we get into one division. Do yeah thank you for giving me that opportunity. This show looks like it's bad boys. That's my take wanda vision. It is better for the brand long-term clearly there was some jitters whether it's been good short term for their push into television in onto disney blues. But better for the brand long-term to have something that was formerly interesting slightly surprising in unexpected launch. It whereas this feels. I'm sure it's gonna be entertaining. I'm hundred percent going to watch it with you. But it feels like the safest possible thing you could do to transition an action movie franchise to the small screen.

Falcon and Winter Soldier Trailer Breakdown

"But you and i are also excited on wants to come for falcon and the winter soldier which had its trailer today and even though it didn't give away too much it did show baron zemo back out and about looking to go ahead and restart his mission or finishes mission as he said it also showed the flag smashers which was an individual in the comics which seems to be now seemingly a group. That's giving falcon winter soldier problems. But the biggest problem between falcon in the winter soldier is themselves getting along and making them more. Like a buddy comedy. So i want to hear your thoughts on the trailer for falcon and the winter soldier. I thought it was kind of funny. How they started out. I mean they're obviously kind of in a therapy session and we know that they're going to have to learn to work together but they've always had the kind of argumentative relationship but they sort of bicker at each other. So i think we're gonna see that throughout the series until maybe hopefully at the end they can work better with each other. I'm super excited to see where the villains go. I think we don't really know that much about what's going on. In terms of the antagonists of the series are seem to be so many different forces at play here so we don't really know if they're all working together or they're just different forces against falcons in the winter soldier. But what i really like seeing from the trailer and we saw this in the last trailer from the disney investor. Day is the action which. I don't see people talking about this. The action scenes. They look like proper marvel movies. And that's really exciting for me to see like falcon flying through canyons and it looks like it looks really good. It looks like disney has spared. Nine of the Ten Last Super Bowl Teams Have a Soccer Interest

"Piece about how the nine of the 10 last Super Bowl teams have a soccer interest, meaning they own one or partially own wonder controlling interest. Who else is involved in with that list? In that list. Well, well, you go back to the San Francisco 40 Niners were in the Super Bowl last year against the Chiefs. They actually just this week increase their equity ownership of leads. United from I think it was 15% of 37% spent up over 50 million English pounds Theo to do that. The Atlanta Falcons have been in a Super Bowl against the Patriots. Both of those teams have MLS stakes. The L. A Rams, who lost to the Patriots the following season. Their owner owns Arsenal on if you go further back beyond just the last five years, the Seattle Seahawks their owners own a piece of the MLS. Founders, But that's really the extent of it. It's more the last five. Six years where you've seen this trend before that, it was it was Seattle and the Patriots. The Patriots on the MLS is revolution that play at the same Stadium is the Patriots, and it's a It's not just the football connection. You point out two different multi team ownerships, right? The the owners of the Philadelphia 76 years on Crystal Palace, the team in the English soccer first division, right? And you're seeing this success force you're seeing multi Team ownerships, Uh, enterprises that owned more than just a team in one sport is sport. It's sports become big business. The ownership is crossing Not not just sports sports live boundaries but international boundaries. So, um, we'll probably see a lot more be more and more rare to see teams make the final finals of their sport. Just have that one holding new ownership group that that one team, I guess for. Some of these guys have some of these owners. Obviously you're super wealthy. It's fun. They they love sports. There's a part of that. Um, there are certainly owners who go at it that way. I mean, I think the new owner of the New York Mets see Cohen goes out and looks at it from this is fun. This is something I've always wanted to do. But when you Put together, uh, vast holdings across sports. It's more than just fun. It's a big business. Thanks. Dan Dan Kaplan, Sports business reporter for the athletic Coming up next. Super Bowl Sunday Changes: Face Masks, Empty Seats and Driveway Parties

"Get into it right away because we are talking about the super bowl. The super bowl is this sunday. My question to you jay is what are we excited about the superbowl and should we be. It makes me explore is the super bowl without parties without gathering with people without it being the event without the event is it. What is it. I guess my question so it's not necessarily a great game k. Not always usually. It's boy rams patriots that would most recently those one of the worst games those one of the worst football games i've ever seen now. Yes every so often. There's a rams rams Falcons was a good game are being patriots falcons. Were alkan was unbelievable where they came back. That was incredible but like that's not going to happen every time. And it's not your team. It's rare that your team right once in a great while it's your team and you have a deep investment in the game means something to otherwise if you're not a die hard sports the game doesn't mean much to you. So what is the game. The game is an excuse to get together. A bunch of friends to stuff your face with seven layer dip to have yummy wings at your house to a bunch of people over. We can't do that right now. I hope people don't do that right now. That's not what we're supposed to do. So i hope super bowl parties. Don't create another superspreader. Yup though there won't be that there won't be crowd there won't be fans there. The halftime show is the weekend. The weekend is okay. By like the we i like the weekend. But are you excited about the weekends. Halftime show. i think it'll be good. It's been one good halftime show in the last ten or i mean look. Did tom petty do it. I know bruce springsteen did it prince did it was unbe. Lynch's was unbelievable because it started raining and he was unbelievable and before he died. And you just realize okay. This guy's incredible out. There aren't a lot of great halftime shows. Don't i'm not getting super geeked inside for the weekend. I think it'll be okay but the but when you're with people at a super bowl party and you're all making fun of the halftime show. It's so much fun to me. Not having that gathering this year and again we did it last year. But not having that grouping it really strips the rolled down to what it really is now. If you're a sports fan you care about tom brady. Or it's going to me like another game another game but with less fans and it really strips it down to what exactly is which is a game of two teams. Andy Levitre thinks his former OL coach Arthur Smith will fare well in Atlanta

"Andy Levy Tray, of course, former offensive lineman for the Atlanta Falcons. Also to remember he played With the A Tennessee Titans, Um, talking about his former I got that. He you know that he was there when he was in Tennessee, Uh, Angela Vetri talking about him. The new Falcons had coach who at that time was a Yes, He was an old line tight and assistant coach at that at that time, quote Arthur Smith has always been a hard worker for as long as I have known him. We're both big coffee buffs. So we used to share different types of coffee and have some good early morning chats at the Titans facility. My experience with Arthur is that he is a grinder. Always in the office, looking to give the team the best advantage on Sunday. On the field. He's always looking out his players that be in the best position to be successful. I'm excited to watch what he could do in Atlanta. They got a good coach who's determined to win. He says. I think Arthur would do a good job. He is a very down to earth person would do a great job connected with players. I have had the opportunity to watch from afar on the job he has done working his way up. Ranks and being successful. All positions he has been put into has a wealth of knowledge, and I know you'll be surrounding himself with a with a great staff. So that's obviously a good now look, I mean, I guess. You know, you wonder

"You don't miss a single episode and we're back on the falco. Podcast dave walker. We are looking at the stats and the rankings. For the players. In the upcoming falcons versus broncos game week nine the nfl the broncos. Three or four falcons two and six talk. Now about how the falcons offense is going to match up against this actually. Pretty good broncos defense These guys have played pretty well this year. They've got some really good players of the falcons do need to be a little bit concerned about. Let's dive into it Let's start with the pass rush because obviously it's all about the interior. It's about the trenches and right now the broncos have two guys with over five sacks on one side with five and a half sacks you've got former first round. pick bradley chubb. He is a guy that you know. I years showed some flashes. This is the year we're looks. Like that is finally coming to fruition. His third year in the league five and a half sacks he has been a bit of a game record for the broncos turning into the player that they hoped he would be on the other side melik read in his second. Year has five sacks He has he has been another player. That is helping to bolster this broncos defense. Here's the thing though. Those guys are going to be facing jake matthews and kill mcgarry and jake matthews right now even though his ranking is forty first of seventy four for tackles in the league his pass blocking grade is a seventy seven point nine so he's actually doing a fairly good job of keeping matt ryan clean and on the other side. Caleb gerry honestly is the bigger story. For this falcons offensive line He actually ranks higher. He's ranked thirty third of seventy four tackles in his second year. He has taken a big leap forward in year to year. One was a was difficult and granted. He missed a good bit of you. Know his Training camp With the heart surgery he had to have and it right now though he is just playing really good football especially the past several weeks him and chris lindstrom. The two first round picks from last year are really beginning to deliver on the potential that the falcons drafted them for so. These are the two guys that are going to go up against chubb and read a an honestly. This one's hard to call Chubb and reader are good pass rushers. At least they're showing that so far But mathewson mcgarry are also good pass blockers so this one feels a bit like a push now. The interior of the broncos defensive line is not quite as good In the middle you've got Deshaun williams who is a quality player. he is know one of those guys who's he's a little undersized to be sort of in those in the in the middle of that defensive line but he's playing well in his second year likewise Next to him dramont jones in his second year Just sort of a marginal player not really getting it. Done across the board former third round pick Mediocre in run defense and then the pass rush and finally demarcus walker and his fourth year. His first two years and league were look really promising. The last two have been less so he is still a really good run. Defender get a lot done in the pass rush so looking at the trenches we have to go. Look at the falcons offensive line on the interior Earlier chris'll instrument right guard has been playing fantastic football the past several weeks. He has been a considerable Joy to watch a in both pass blocking in the run game. He plays with a bit of an edge. we've missed on the falcons offensive line. Maybe arguably going back to the harvey doll days when hawley was last Wearing the black and red Next to him. Alex mack for as good as he has been his time atlanta This is one of his worst seasons at least by grade It actually is his worse season so far That's not to say that he's bad. He's ranked twenty second of thirty eight. He's got a sixty four point nine overall score which sorts a sort of puts in below average maybe slightly below average And honestly i think we see that in his level of play some of that honestly comes down to the fact that mac is really made is more of a you know a guy that likes to get out in the running game and to get to the second level in. that's not the kind of running game that dirt cutter is calling unfortunately And that's probably holding alex mack back from his his highest potential. It that in the is almost thirty. Five years old. He actually turns thirty five. this month. Clearly in the waning days of his career unfortunately You do have to wonder falcons maybe towards the end of the season. Start thinking about giving matt some snaps to see if he's going to be able to make some contributions and what he's gonna look like in into the future since they drafted him to be the heir-apparent matt Finally left guard still an issue. James carpenter still not good. He has been acceptable impasse blocking he's been pretty bad in run blocking And he's going to be two next year. I'll be surprised if he makes the roster next year right now. There's the falcons could look towards matt. Go no it's. They tried it in camp this year but apparently they don't wanna roll four with that. They're fine with what carpenters doing right. Now he is clearly the weakest link here. Don't be surprised. If the broncos try to run some stunts and to take advantage of carpenter and mac on the interior because matthews mcgarry are playing so well All in all though this this feels like a push the broncos could do some damage Matthews does occasionally give up the pressure on the edge and chubb is a player. That's playing really well right now. So again the trenches are going to be a big factor. Matt ryan for all the flack that he has gotten this year. He's actually on pace for a really really solid season. He just has the four interceptions which certainly falcon spans. Who don't like him more than happy to point out. But he's got twelve touchdowns Twenty four hundred yards on pace for almost for over forty nine hundred yards on the season twenty four touchdowns eight interceptions his rating of ninety seven. Point six is pretty good. His qbr from seventy five point ryan is having a good year. It may not be a stellar year. It may not put him in the top. Three or top four. But he's easily top ten quarterback right now so all of the screaming about finding another quarterback finding another quarterback. Honestly the with falcons is not matt ryan. He's playing good football and he's actually in playing better football as of late. The question is going to be. Who is he going to have to give the ball to. Julio jones for the first time in a long time did not show up on the injury report this week which is fantastic. News jones honestly is going to be key here because right now based on the injury report. It looks like calvin ridley with that foot. Injury is probably knocking to make the game. He hasn't practice yet..

"For. Positive, tests Adam saying he's not sure if those are players coaches staff members tier one, two, three individuals within the organization Adam is continuing to work that story, and obviously, if we hear anything, you'll hear it first on our program. So fellas. They will take on the Minnesota Vikings this weekend, the Atlanta Falcons will just a quick reminder that the vikings have already had their facility shutdown after they came in contact with Tennessee Titans in a game earlier this season, and I think we're all aware that the titans of the biggest outbreak in football key. As you said, it's all interconnected and there's hardly you would think would be the last. In first thing whenever any of this sort of stuff breaks the first thing he say is Hope. Everybody say everybody gets out of it. Nice. Unhealthy right that's that's the first thing that comes to mind. You. Know. MINNESOTA. Like every week, they're going to be dealing with it. It seems like a lot of fog is we don't know if it's the players staff we have no idea yet that will come out at some point in time we learn and I think that Atlanta shutting down their facility kind of make it everybody go home. They probably will learn from what the Tennessee titans went through. It turns trying to get some extra work in outside of the building that certainly what Tennessee went through certainly is going to help teams in the future. It's It's there like there's nothing there's nothing you really can say about it matter what the case is. I I'm not gonNA assume that whoever it was was reckless in running around and just doing whatever I'm going to assume that they were taking the necessary steps to make sure that everything was safe and healthy protocols in right place in just. So happened that somebody contracted. It just seems like you know we're talking about this every single day there's a different team. There's teams that are in the middle like Minnesota they're always concerned. Now with the Falcons with the titans with the Patriots. I guess from a scheduling perspective you know how far do you keep moving things back? How do you reschedule all these games? It's going to have to do is we'll because the game was rescheduled a week ago for two teams. If they need to reschedule again, I'm sure they're gonNA do it because if I'm those owners, Mark. Gripe is user I guess was Aso keep scheduling rescheduling. Games. But we're going to continuously be dealing with this right. So this happens for the next three or four months you keep moving games back in, but we are still dealing with the same issue. Unless. We just choose not to shut down facilities due to covert. So that becomes like the inevitable wall that you feel like you hit. Okay. So now we're in this week we're going gains back last week was eight games this week who knows how many games will be next week depending upon who can tracks it what facilities shutdown move back again windy they've already they've already shown us that they're willing to move the Games they've already done it. So they they. Know How to do it. So if I'm a better man, they're going to continue to keep doing it to get the Games in I. I'm I understand that be I. Guess I'm just wondering how do you keep doing cova is still round table. Today get that super. Bowl here. Yeah. That's damn show. So what are we talking about NFL football? Spring essentially, hey summer if they got to do it to get it in they do it. Okay, we have some breaking news in for Madame. Schefter as we continue to learn a little bit more about what's going on with the falcons, their rookie defensive tackle Marlon Davidson was placed on the Reserve Co bid nineteen list yesterday. So that is one of the four, the rookie defensive tackle Marlon Davidson, and he was as everybody when they're diagnosed with positive put on the reserve slash Kobe nineteen list. Now, there are other tests that the League is checking and two keys point. As. Soon, as it happened happened with the jets the other day the Falcons building has been completely shut down and everybody is scattered and essentially has told to go to your house wait for further details. So the Falcons building has now been shut down with four positive tests. We know the rookie Marlon Davidson is among the four Adam will continue to work this story in as they shut down building i. hope the lot of Fox was very clear in letting them know don't go get any extra working. Right do not go out and try to throw the ball with one another nor do stay home learn the lesson from the tight learn a lesson from the Tyne who essentially had a workout at high school, Montgomery, Bell Academy, just outside of Nashville, and there are many people that believe that might have been not a super spreader event but the event that essentially led to the majority of the two thousand four tests they are battling through at this very moment. Let's stay in the southeast. Let's move from the. At L. to town about a three hour drive away and Alabama's Nick Sabin at the age of sixty eight right there in the susceptibility range for older Americans dealing with the corona virus, he has a symptomatic. He did have a positive test. He's going to have to pass through two more before anything happens here Steve Sarkisian the offensive coordinator will take over right now they do have a game for the moment schedule at the University of Georgia. This is a top three class gigantic game prime time. Saturday. Night will be played. We'll find out to SEC games have already been postponed. This could be the third saving yesterday on zoom after the diagnosis telling everybody what the plan will be for the tied while he is away. So we're still on everything possibly get ready for the Georgia game I'll have normal meetings tomorrow everything beyond soon will continue to do this. You know Sark's kind of filling in in my absence for anything that needs coordinated any office but we're GONNA do everything we can to help our team. Play again, Sark Steve Sarkisian Kino's and well the former head coaches at two stints at Alabama. He was the offensive coordinator both times and it is a total coincidental thing. But the time he spent in between Alabama stints he was with the Atlanta Falcons and those are the two teams we're talking about today with Crovitz of course, that's purely coincidental but I just wanted to. Mention that were presented by Progressive Insurance,.

"Sleeps Mega Ghassem. We are back I take is in the building and it feels good. My Guy Stephen a Max here we got former cowboy keyshawn Johnson. We'll be talking about that team in just a minute guys good to see you six months six months six feet. Oh, I forgot did y'all see him tweeting up a storm yesterday real cocky. Day In then those tweets coming fast and Seattle, and then he got quiet I don't know what happened. You WanNa. Start good to see you. Let's get it. How about the cowboys even a Dallas with the last minute comeback another collapse also by Atlanta no Bueno the cowboys race to twenty point deficit. Put Up Sixteen in the final five minutes to beat the Falcons forty, thirty nine. DALLAS, how we feel talked me. We showed our resiliency today. I. WanNa thank just those twenty, one, thousand plus fans that showed up today. As you said I don't know if I've been in many games like this only thing I can think of is the playoff game rookie year, but to be able to get the win. And filling those those fans that were there that stayed the whole game that didn't give up on us. Those are huge difference I think the team fed off of that. I know they did Laden late in that two minute drive after it onside kick. It will simply just incredible. You look at any great season that you're able to put together. You have you have big moments that you're able to build off of this is a. This is a big moment to build off of. Up Max was that southern Steve at the press conference, Ono. He was crying and his basement that wasn't stephen a that was back. With. The cowboy hat Mr Smith, are you ready to give the cowboys some credit with that valiant effort coming back and take down those Falcons Hell? No. No they've been a little bit. That's not how I feel about it I. Don't know what game everybody else was watching I sorta Atlanta. Falcons up twenty to nothing I. saw them up twenty, nine ten. I saw fifteen point lead thirty, nine, twenty, four with under five minutes left I even saw them blowing that and still was in a position to win all. They had to do was fall on the floor I'd like to sit up there and say something that I've never said about an NFL team before I mean Atlanta Falcons might be the dumbest e that I've witnessed in the modern era. I WANNA get. Let me get this straight last time. I. Checked because Kishan. You here you the football Aficionado I do believe that you're allowed to fall on the ball prior to go and ten yards. If I remember correctly I do believe that just so we have not one. Not. Two, not three, not four five. I ain't trying to Lebron James. He I'm talking about literally what transpired five different Atlanta Falcons around the football and then you see a couple like number eighty one there was actually backing up and away from the football. Tell me what kind of sense that makes whatsoever that might be the dumbest thing that I have transpired on a football team in the modern era already I burn Atlanta Falcons Jeremy that they sent us I just do mind and the garbage. Okay. I wasn't Atlanta fan anyway but if ever there was a time where I'd never root for them again, it would be now. Dan. Quinn gotta go listen been the same since they blew the twenty five point lead in the Super Bowl you get rid of assistant coaches got rid of three last November got rid of an additional to this past January this way somebody's fault. But in the end you have a situation I know Julio Jones dropped the touchdown pass I get all of that. I know could have run the football effectively I get that but I'm repeating two, thousand, nine, hundred, ten and a half two, hundred, four Dallas turnovers. Three fumbles, four tournaments in the first quarter twenty deficit or twenty, nine of ten at halftime, thirty, nine, twenty, four minutes and fifty seven seconds left, and then after that you still all you have to do is fall on a ball and five five different Atlanta Falcons you said six. I thought it was SPA. Even six. Six different Atlanta. Falcons. Not all on the ball jeff stupid they they got to be the dumbest team and just I'm just so disgusted what transpired but it is what it is. The Dallas Cowboys one, I got it but Atlanta is trifling not. Just. The Falcons I'm talking about the Falcons object data coined got no it's crazy. This wasn't even a must win game for the cowboys you might win six games and win the NFC. Division. Is Terrible and I want to give the cowboys credit where it's due Dak didn't quit when you have a leader that remember the reason he lost a playoff game you referred to Aaron Rodgers was only because he was playing Aaron Rodgers. And mahomes would have been in the league at that only two guys who could have done the things that Aaron Rodgers against deck or you the one that playoff game give the cowboys credit for that. But if the question is that the cowboys win it or did the Falcons, lose it, the Falcons lost it for exactly what Stephen said. It's one thing if one dude. Doesn't know what's going on doesn't know what the situation, but the only chance they have is to recover the on side kick. So how is it that? No one on the team knows the situation sometimes a game does come down to one play in the history of the NFL or at least since in the last four, hundred, Forty Times this occurred you've ever seen this stat, right? If you score thirty nine points and you come away with three turnovers. You win three with turnovers, your four, hundred, Forty and Oh, and until last night and. Now. It's four forty one falcons lost. Didn't lose it. The cowboys won and the reason I say the cowboys won game is because they applied that pressure at the end of the game there was no quit and debt prescot I'm looking at me like their male side you look at me straight on they applied that pressure in you apply that pressure to somebody they crack. Okay. They started to panic in the cowboys continue methodically moving the ball down the field that Prescott cooking four, hundred plus yards thrown in the air receivers. Kitchen balls wasn't doing in the first half then owning onside kick side of it watching the film. And looking at it. I'm thinking that Atlanta wanted the ball dribble out of bounds. Why don't know I have no idea why they started backing up you're supposed to attack. The football. When you're on the hands team, I don't know why Julio Jones wasn't on the front line of polls the being the jumper, which is the second way behind the opposite. Julio Julio was the jumper Behi- when he actually should have been on the front line. I don't know they fired a special teams coach in early spring. So maybe that's the reason that he was gone and they brought somebody else that didn't communicate to those guys well enough. They certainly to cowboys one that they have folded his think you're wrong because I'm listening to your explanation and you're talking about how Dallas applying the pressure. Well, Atlanta's twenty two north Dallas scores a touchdown. Wait a minute, but Atlantic came back and responded immediately with a touchdown and what happened was that then they go for the two point conversion stupidly they fail. Second Stephen and you go for two points because you're afraid that Dallas is getting ready.

"Pro Bowl nod. he was one of the best interior pass rushers in the entire. NFL believe he finished. What was it with seven sacks seven or eight sacks from the interior with evident right in the middle? It's a right in the middle of that. which is really for defensive tackles? That's a great number and honestly had at least to the I know were take it away from him from bogus roughing the passer penalty yes so arguably could have had nine to ten sacks if the NFL knew what roughing the passer actually ones uh-huh but let's talk about their overall performance I want to start first with some of the free agents we brought in because I feel like we actually got some decent value. We're here we brought in a two guys in particular Alan Bailey in Tyler Davidson What are your thoughts on these? Two guys how they did the year Were they worth you know the relative the money that they were given. Yeah I mean I like Davidson and the preseason so I'm kind of excited to see what the regular season were turn out. I mean he had one sack and I believe Bailey really also had one sack in a Bailey was only. He only started in like five games so he was more of like I guess debt player for him. I don't know but I mean Davidson somebody who you probably don't want starting but I think he's really good depth for the team I don't know what their plan is to do. DOC to address it. Because the Falcons honestly their defensive line wasn't that bad in regards to the run defense so I don't think you know uh I'm not going to sit here and say oh they you know they suck 'cause they certainly were doing their job overall and it's hard to pick and they can apart. I think the Falcons could certainly upgrade upgrade You know maybe in the draft like I know that people kept on about Derrick Brown and stuff like they got a really solid defensive tackle next to him that could be fun but Davidson. Certainly someone. I'd like to see.

"The field where no one is around to touch it. He's just he's just not he's not going to be a franchise quarterback for anybody. I think ceiling is a high level. Backup where you can win. Football Games with them. And I think he's doing that. In Carolina I think he has outstanding poise for a guy who came out as an undrafted free agent He said himself that he expected to be starting in the NFL at some point and and which is not terribly surprised because he was the top rated high school quarterback in his year so Kyle on a not going to say he's great but he is a guy you can win with. And it's GONNA come down to Carolinas offense executing giving him good situations throw in because as we saw at at the end of the packers game when the ball when they had to give the ball Kyle Allen to throw the ball. He couldn't make it happen even like a good quarterback on the last play. The football game. You WanNa give him the ball. What did they do? They give it to Chris McCaffrey. That should tell you the whole story that I think that's a very good point. And you know to that end You were mentioning earlier. How teams build their rosters sort of win within the division? I don't think it's any a coincidence. That Atlanta has gone for faster. Linebacker guys like Dion Jones. Foyer Lucon Devante Campbell. Can all a fly and I think a big part of that is they need to be able to match up with guys like McCaffrey and Alvin Kamara. And that's you know clearly clearly sort of the competition. That's going to go on Sunday now whether or not you know how that plays out I think is going to be a huge factor in this game but with that said we've broken down both sides of the ball. It is time for our predictions Gino go the first. You've heard how it's played out. You've seen these two teams This was gonNA play on Sunday. Well I was in the locker room yesterday and Brian what I regret to inform you is that for the first time. The season the falcons were it was kind of the same vibe as two thousand sixteen like when they were just on a roll nobody gets stop. Unlike they're laughing they're having fun. Ricardo Allen is apologizing to me for being too loud and Rowdy one. I'm trying to everybody's having a great any time like they're just all obviously they're in high spirits coming off a win against the saints. But I think that that I think that that's momentum that they will carry into this week and also so this team knows that if things don't turn around substantially the Dan Quinn is going to get fired and I know that we all as are as Falcons fans have our opinions opinions about Dan cleanse fate and what it should be but I can tell you with great certainty of the players. Love Him and they do not want to be. And so I think that that's another elements of motivation for them. And so you know. I think that they're gonNA come out swinging and like Bryan said even years. On the Falcons are bad. They usually tend to steal one from the panthers. So you know it could be this one. I won't be surprised if it's not but you know I am GonNa go out on the women say yes. I think the Falcons win this week. I think it's probably a close game. I think it's probably somewhere in the realm of twenty seven twenty four and that maybe they went on Young way whose leg you know he certainly had a great game against the love to see him. Get a game winner and Carolina to sorry. Brian Brian you heard it. What is your feel for how this Games go? I have a funny feeling that the panthers are going to come out and have a game. Where Kyle Allen ends up losing the football game because the game script is out there at this point like the buccaneers? I did it once. The forty niners did it. The packers did it. They eliminated they limited Christian. McCaffrey just enough that the panthers offense couldn't keep up with the other team. So Oh it's not like this is an unknown thing but there's some game film out there to show people how to do it so I think we're Christian McCaffrey. Having a good game like let's say I don't know one hundred fifty scrimmage yards and two touchdowns but I think that that's like all we see from Carolina so I predict a twenty four to seventeen. Win by the Falcons. Well I'm also ask you guys know. Ah I think the wildcard here is going to be Great Jarrett. He had to have sex against drew brees on Sunday. He has his playing an all all pro level. Frankly he's one. The best defensive tackles in the League and he is I think he is second in the league in sacks from For Defensive Tackles that tells you what kind of your he is. Having I think the Interior for the panthers offensive line is going to have a day with Jarrett Going after him. But I I still not one hundred percent. Sold on the Falcons defense. I think they're going to play better. But I think McCaffrey free is going to have a day. And I think he's GonNa be the the difference maker here. I take your point that the falcons usually still went from the panthers even when they suck in two thousand fifteen but they usually in those seasons. They win that when at home. So I'm GonNa give the panthers the slight edge here. I'M GONNA say twenty one seventeen. The Panthers Win this one and move back into the playoff race with a six four record so Brian. Won't you tell our listeners where they can. I hate to interrupt that part just real quick. I forgot I never broke down the offensive line Situation Carolina. And what you just brought up made something I bring yes please do so. The panthers have been riding with They started out with trae Turner who or country Turner Trae. Excuse me Daryl Williams who was playing left tackle Michael for them. Who is a rat? A right tackle coming off major knee surgery. He was playing left tackle. He was awful. He gave up three sacks to Shaq Barrett Then they had greg little their second round pick he played one game had a concussion then they had their sixth round pick. Dennis daily who apparently is actually decent left tackle. He's injured this game. But Greg little is back from the concussion protocol. I think of all things to look at with the Dolphins Defensive Line. It's whoever is against Greg. Little coming off a concussion anyway. And obviously jared on Greg Van Paradis trae Turner. That will be big. I don't know how huge impact is going to have as far as sacking. The quarterback goes but I think she killed generate a lot of problems for the line of attack so anyway moving onto when I have going on so I am the the host the keep sounding podcasts for Carolina NC Sr.. "Wise. They're not in the right place where they're maintaining gap integrity and staying true the run. They're missing tackles. They've been involving. Eric read a lot and he's a very good run defender but on Sunday he was terrible. So yeah it's it's GonNa be interesting. I don't really even know what to say. Because I could see the panthers coming out. And shutting down the Falcons and I can see the falcons going for like two two hundred yards rushing altogether in Gina. To that point I in some ways. This feels like a match up that that is hard to predict because on the one hand the Falcons have have been trying to run the ball more and they obviously have more success excess against the saints than they have had all year long but there are also missing their top. Two running backs I mean. devante Freeman is going to be l.. More than likely either Smith. We lost him for the season a couple of weeks ago And now we're down to Brian Hill. WHO had a great game against the saints on Sunday but season and he's had you know moments Throughout his career where he is looked apart you know caen in feature back option long-term no but I think especially against a team with a run defense like Carolina's he could probably get some things done. I think Brian it was interesting that you mentioned the DFS angle because shoutouts brains dock one of our readers who is on twitter and he plays in my draftkings draftkings leagues on a regular basis. And so he asked me today. If Brian Hill was a smart quake anything about it. And I mean he is going to be because he's not devante Freeman. He's not you know one top-flight backs but he I think will be able to get some points And so yeah well. While the Falcons have as much success success against the panthers on the ground as like teams with an actual first string running back. WHO's healthy enough to start? Probably not but I think the Brian Hill can have a pretty okay. Whole game wants them? I guess the thing that concerns me is again. The Panthers are one of the best to get after the quarterback and this has been a year again. We're my Matt. Ryan has been pressured pretty regularly throughout the season. That's he got injured because of excessive pressure in the game Before the bye week. So it's this is this feels like a potentially bad matchup for the Falcons offense because they wanna they wanna pass and then on top of that. You're missing an Austin. Hooper who's Relief Valve so on on with the Patriots He was sweeper role. He was a super reliable option for Ryan the entire time that he was here. Calvin readily is having a very inconsistent season You know I think that Jaden Graham has potential but luke stocker is no Austin her And so again. This is a depleted offense. I don't think that fit based on what I know about high ankle sprains. I don't think that Matt Ryan is one hundred percent. I don't think that he will be for a couple of weeks. And you know if they put him on the run and on Sunday. That's going to be. It's going to be a long day and you know the offense played. Well I thought against the saints and I have to single out caleb mcgarry because I thought he really had an exceptional game against one of the better has rushers in the league and Cam Jordan and so you know I think that they're urge selling To steal a phrase from Earth to steal a word from Thomas Roth finally gelling when we had so many personnel l.. Changes because I like. It is our chemistry so I think that they're getting there. Hopefully they can be cohesive enough to keep Matt Ryan from dying it but yeah yeah honestly I just want to say this one thing in response to Gina before we move on but if Matt Ryan is tasked with throwing the ball anywhere from thirty five to fifty the times he's GonNa get killed. Yeah Yeah Yeah. I think that's pretty clear. And they don't want to do that but I think if if the panthers can slow the rundown on first and second down. I think that'd be a key. Because if if you start forcing the Falcons in the third long in in telling US offensive line to hold on for a seven step drop against pass rush. It could be a very very long afternoon. So WanNa flip the script. WanNa talk about the the panthers offense events and this sort of what the hell are. They Falcons. Defense Gina I wanNA start the Falcons defense because you know we saw something completely different Sunday from what we've seen the rest of the season you know we saw the six sacks we saw some great coverage including from a Kendall Sheffield who are. What school did he go to your State University? Dvu even if some of our friends on twitter disagree but yes it what what is your take do. Are you concerned like I am that. Maybe it was a one game. Aberration is it a sign of a turnaround. What is your read on the defense? For the Falcons. I don't think that you can be straight up trash four all of those weeks and then all of a sudden you have one game and everybody is just supposed to be like oh great now. They're just a bunch of all pros. Everything is this egg you know. Is it reasonable to expect that they ah have improved With you know more clang time for the guys who are forced into more snaps because of injuries and you know just more time to acclimate to each other and the changes with the coaching staff. Moving his actions were reasonable to expect. I think that My hope at least that they won't look as much like hot asked as they looked for every game up until the saints game. So that's my hope but yeah I mean as far as expecting them to replicate that performance. I think that that is a long long shot up for disappointment folks. If you think that. That's going to Piss Falcons defense. We see every week. I mean I think Saints Saints Game Aside. They have to continue to earn it. They have to relearn our trust. And that's going to include having to repeat that performance This weekend and Carolina to get us to buy in that they may be better than what we thought have to hold the three field goals. And you're GONNA have to land success that's war in your trash okay. That's that's a pretty high bar but hey you guys set the standard entered yourself so on the road division game. I see no differences here So Brian Panther's offense obviously Carolina's Cam Newton. I want to get your quick take on you. He is actually going to be gone or not Christian McCaffrey. He clearly legitimately one of the best offensive weapons in the NFL. This year. at I don't think that's arguable at this point and Kyle Allen is he good enough that fans shouldn't worry about potentially losing cam and then maybe one thing that I I think is being overlooked or not talked about enough is the panthers offensive line. I it feels like they have some good pieces. But maybe there's still some holes in this this unit. What is can you give Falcons fans a quick read on the panthers offense the camp situation? Just give us the update okay. So the CAM. Newton situation is being horrifically overblown by the national media because David tepper before the season even started instead he would be willing to let Cam Newton sit for the entire season if needed They have a twelve million dollar deal or fourteen million dollar deal or something like going into next year there is no reason to trade him. They're like especially now when he's GonNa be coming off and probably not having played like what trade valued valued quarterback like that half. You'RE NOT GONNA get multiple first round picks for him so he doesn't have trade value. Have Kyle locked in on his rookie deal. He has no choice but to accept except the League minimum next year. So it just doesn't make sense to part ways with Cam. Newton that that fourteen million or so. They're going to have if they cut him or trade. Him is just going to end up going towards a quarterback probably so why would you give yourself that problem. In this off season people have been pointing. The Kyle Allen's win record and like well. He used the future because he's got this many wins and now all of a sudden that win loss record is starting to teeter back to five hundred so it's being overblown loan a lot. And if you if you actually watch kyle and play you can tell he doesn't make the throws that you would want for a quarterback. Yeah he's got he's had some nice throws but he you also Mrs stuff that Cam Newton would hit with Greg Olsen routinely So I don't think that you that Falcon stands should rejoice in that Carolina's is going to let go and Cam Newton. I think he'll be back next year and quite frankly I think he'll be back better than ever no matter what happens this season because he's going to have a whole offseason recover and the whole issue right now. Is Liz Frank Injury injury and not even a shoulder. It's a totally different injury. So those freak injuries happen everybody like it's not it's you know they absolutely. It's not like the shoulder sir. The shoulder injury suddenly contributes to him hurting his foot. It just happens it sucks and you you know it is what it is. He's going to be fine as far as the panthers offense on. Sunday against the Falcons Defense Obviously the number one guide really worry about is Christian McCaffrey. I'm sure that nobody's surprised by that. But just looking at the Saints Game Alvin Kamara touch the ball. Four Times rushing the football and eight times receiving which is twelve touches. You can expect Christian McCaffrey to get double that this game. No matter how bad the panthers offenses he he somebody where you can only contain him for so long the way he's been playing recently and he's going to get the football doesn't matter the the the one thing about the saints is that they don't devote stubbornly to a certain player all the time same from maybe Michael Thomas but even then he's been having a good season No matter how bad the panthers offense is Christian McCaffrey. We'll be getting that football. And he's GonNa get and he will break one open for a touchdown I can. If the Falcons could easily win this game Christian McCaffrey. Having one. Hundred and forty yards of scrimmage is going to happen he's GonNa he's GonNa have a lot of yards. So that's the identity. The Panthers Right now is Kyle. Alan needs to play just enough just well enough for them. Not to lose and Christian. McCaffrey needs to take place. That said you're probably GONNA watch kyle out on Sunday and be like what the Hell is national media. Hyping this guy up about because he'll he'll make throw words like a dime twenty five yards on the field and the next he'll he'll make a spin move and you're like oh we're going to see him unleashed and it'll go thirteen yards.

"I'm Holly Anderson Jason. I'm Ryan Nanny. I'm Jason Kirk and we're the host of the shutdown forecast your adventures of college football podcast says in the script onto riff on what that means and And basically what I mean. Is this all already spoiled. Every Tuesday we talk about everything from cooking disasters to pro wrestling. Too unfashionable pants worn middle school. We also do talk about college. Pants that coaches where now if you want to take college football exactly as seriously as it should be taken. Subscribe for free on Apple podcasts. or in your favorite podcast APP and we're back on the Phallic Alcoholic podcast. This is David Walker here. Of course with my co-host Gina Thomas and we're joined by the one and only Brian bevere sluice from the keep sounding. PODCAST US and cat scratch reader. Talk about the Falcons. Going on the roads take on the Panthers Division game an important division game. This weekend We we spoke in the first. Half about the falcons trying to help out the panthers by beating the saints and the panthers unfortunately dropping one on the road to the packers Clearly if the panthers are GonNa make up ground in the division in catch up to the saints that this is a game that is critical for their playoff hopes. They're five and four dropping. A five of five is gonNA make it a little bit harder to catch up with you. Know a a seven and two saints team but if they can you know keep winning in hope that you know they've got some matchups with the saints coming up They can possibly flip the division if you know they can play these games relatively well so important matchup. Obviously for the for the Falcons. They're playing essentially for Dan Quinn's career at this point. We did a lot of polling gina this week about On twitter and at the site about what it would take for Falcons fans fans to be okay with Dan Quinn. Staying head coach in the twenty twenty and I was a little bit surprised. I thought that most fans would be like no. We're done but it seems like the majority fans think that if he can win out or win seven of the next eight Games which I still think is tall task that they would be okay with him. Staying saying is head coach so some interesting results. In obviously beating the saints will buy you a lot of grace with with this franchise but let's let's start from that angle. I e how important you think. This game is for the Falcons of Dan Quinn Before we go the Brian to talk about the importance to the panthers. I I think that In particular I think that he bought himself some goodwill last week. no matter what not just beating the saints but going into their house you know doing something that the Falcons have have struggled to do consistently like the Mike Smith in particular. It's been better under Quinn but I mean and especially in a year where they had one win going into it and the saints head end. Verse schedule Earn an inverse record. You know seven and one compared to one seven I I think he bought himself some good well without win especially the fact that he was willing to take a step back from The defensive play calling you know in I some things in change some things up to To make the team better and so. I don't think that this game is a make or break game for him but I do think that he is still. I'm trying to build a case to remain the Falcons head coach at the end and so from that perspective. I think that every minute of every game counts. Yes I think that every mistake is magnified I think every losses magnified and I think that you know we're watching the season slip away very quickly and so from in that perspective. I think that this game is undeniably important to us future. Yep so for reference the poll that was mentioning. We ran the quick one on twitter. quitter thirty seven percent of Fan said that he's gotTa go no matter what thirty six percent said if he finished his nine and seven keep him in. Fourteen percent said eight nate. Keep him in another fourteen percent. Said as long as six ten or better you wish you keep him so interesting wresting results there in you know I think if they're gonNA finish nine and seven. They have to win. Obviously the Sunday so Brian. How important and this game for the panthers with an eye towards the playoffs It's obviously hugely important It's visual game. Even if the Falcons skains might not really have realistic shot at the playoffs. It's still a big game. The panthers need to rebound they've even without Cam. They've always been very very momentum. Based I've said that many times on this podcast and ultimately they have to come back to the way they win football football games which is Christian. McCaffrey the football play. Good defense sacked. The quarterback like this is a game for them to restore their competence. It's also a game. Where Kyle Alan can rebound a little bit Pretty much every game going forward is important because this is the toughest part of the panthers schedule. Because they have the Falcons twice which regardless eldest of their schedule. The Falcons always at least get one win over the panthers are how good they are And they have Seattle they have hundred remember who else they got. They have that up real quick great journalism. You've got Washington and Indianapolis Yeah Washington. Obviously you. I think that's a winnable game. They lost that one last year. and Indianapolis is a tough team. Very well put together. So it's they need to put together a string of wins in order to really get a push for the playoffs because even if they if they don't win the division there's a chance that even if they have say a ten win record that they don't make the playoffs because because the NFC is so stacking right now so really. I think this is the game. Where IF CAROLINA IS GONNA rebound from whatever? The Hell is going on with them right now that they need to go back to their style of football. And Kyle Alan needs to rebound and I I liked Kyle Allen but I don't think think he's GonNa be like your Nick foles type guy. He's a high level backup. I don't think he'll lead them to the Super Bowl but once you get in the playoffs it's all fair game at that point. So that's the objective right now. Yeah new season starts over all right. So let's talk about some of the specific matchups. The one I think is pretty interesting. Here is the panthers defense because I I was reading about them. And you alluded to this. In the first half of PODCASTS. They are a little a bit of a `Nigma they are one of the best pass rushing teams as a matter of fact. I'm a think they lead the league in sacks they are one of the best pass the defense is in the league and they are. I think the one of the bottom three run defenses in the League when he started which is not yeah. Yeah it's it's really weird like you don't normally see that in so they're ranking puts them as like a middle of the road defense And it it's not like they're fourteenth against the pass and sixteen th against the run. It's like they're really good against the pass and really bad against the run. which is not a normal alignment? We see for defensive units. Obviously on the Falcons side of the ball the offense up until Oh this past weekend could not run the ball to save their life and now. We've Austin Hooper probably will not be playing because of a knee injury. devante Freeman is out either. Either Smith is out for the season and it just seems like this is it is the weirdest match Gotcha. I think we're GONNA see Sunday so Brian. I'll start with you here. I what is the story with the panthers. Defense is all of that true. You think some of his exaggerated you know. Are they missing guys like Cohen Short. Thomas Davis is that a factor here is it the change in the style of defense. What do you think is contributing to the sort of a `nigma? Ah That's going on and Carolina right now. I've noticed that. So they they. They allegedly switch to a three four. But it's more of a multiple defense. They run for three three or four depending on the game situation but ultimately they have lighter bodies out there who are guys. We're going to rush the passer who are a lot more athletic but in gap disciplined that becomes a problem when you have a team that is really the vote. It's running the football Brian Burns has been really good for Carolina. Bruce Irvin has been really good for Carolina. I know you guys know who know who he is yet. Gerald McCoy turned out to be a very good signing for them. But this team is basically built to rush the passer. And that's not great when you play against a team that can run the the ball in a game situation they can run the football I think they're missing K.. Want short a lot because he would have been another big body to put in the middle where now now. It's done Terry Po who has been average of defending the run. He's too and Gerald McCoy who has never really been a big run defender as their remained. Defensive Tackles in the defensive ends are a combination of Irvine Burns of Mario Addison. FAO bottle. These are all is is who are basically meant to rush the passer. Yes so I liked the fact that they devoted more of it to the late they they. They corrected the the fact that they couldn't rush the passer last year very effectively. But they're sacrificing the run game. They're honestly if you have that like low tier flex play a fan duel or anything like that. I would put the falcons starting running back there because this could be a game. Where he he ends up going for over one hundred yards on? And it's just because the panthers defense is is weird right now because Thomas Davis were both very successful because of the fact that they didn't have lineman all over them all the time time and now leuke estimate perfect reads shack. Thomson's been great but when they have linemen off all their faces all the time. They're not defensive lineman. They're not expected into be able to. You know put off tackle on his back all the time. So Yep from the standpoint of the rushing gaming it's the panthers defense we could see them totally rebound bound and figure it out. Cause that cause Ron Rivera. Has that weird ability to do that but right now they're.

"Through their national contacts not local contacts. That's been a given under this regime from the start. I mean the owner owned the radio station asian that i worked for for fourteen for twelve years all right. We were the rights holding flagship for that station and we never got anything from them. When they leak they leaked to national guys not local guys most of the reporters in this market know that and understand surprised that anybody would suggest the the possibility that the redskins would leak something through me or anybody else locally. They've never done it before certainly not through me and i don't think they ever will to be honest with you anyway. Anyway i stand by what i said yesterday and as i predicted it was in everyone's best interest to deny which is what i expected and that's fine. They should deny <hes> also by the way you know enough about that but i will also say that. I think they should trade him. I think it's clear that the the redskins may consider trading reading them and hopefully bruce will be patient and wait for a blockbuster opportunity. I actually think so far from my perspective. He's handling this pretty well. Oh but you know this has to finish well before any of us. Give give real credit to him anyway. Let's get to the game tech. They they attention kevin this game day. This was you know what they liked to refer to is. The all important third preseason game the dress rehearsal game which really actually gotten to the point where you know a lot of these n._f._l. Teams aren't playing starters even in this game anymore. The falcons did on offense and defense a lot of their starters anyway. Julio jones wasn't out there but you know calvin ridley was out there and hooper was out there and matt ryan was out there and so new is out there and mckinley was out there they they had a lot of their starters the redskins you know we saw the what we believe to be the starters right now as they will be pegged in on opening day against the eagles. Let me mention one thing about the eagles game. I said yesterday i think i said it on the podcast. I know i said it on the radio. Show i like the redskins in the opener against that's the hills and so i played them yesterday plus nine and what i noticed this morning erin is it was down eight and a half. There's some sharp money coming in on the redskins for the opener. It's not an indication of the way i feel about the season. I just think there might be an opportunity in week one anyway. The big takeaway from the game last night is that case keenum went out there with the starters play full half with basically the starters and then came out after halftime enjoying haskins went in and played with the backups and so that's a clear cut indication of john told me on the radio station yesterday her day and that is the case keenum is going is going to start or it certainly at the very least a clear indication that case keenum is ahead of joint haskins and so unless cole mccoy comes back and get super healthy..

"I mean going into the season, I think everybody bucks fans, look that the division and thought that you know, the bucks would definitely be the worst than then that the same of the falcons on the Panthers would you know, sort of battle it out for the top three spots, and they were all potential playoff teams the now boy the falcons on the Panthers are bad. And so that was unexpected. And not a lot of fun for anybody. And I do think it is worth pointing out that both teams have suffered injuries throughout the season. Some pretty significant, you know, the falcons injuries are pretty well documented the Panthers I think suffered quite a few on the offensive line very early in the season, which arguably could could have been a big contributor to Cam Newton's getting banged up throughout this season. So let's talk about this game though. This is interesting falcons are five nine the Panthers are six eight. So a win by the falcons, essentially ties them, but would put the falcons ahead because they would have the better NFC south records to the falcons with actually the. Have the potential to finish second in the NFC south, which I don't know that that's something. Either team wants this point because they're essentially playing the sells out of draft position if they win this game, but that's a completely different conversation. So let's talk about the falcons offense going up against this Panthers defense, and to me this is one of the this is interesting because Brian last week, even though it was a loss. The pit Thor's defense actually held New Orleans to twelve points in Carolina. They they really really stymied that normally high scoring explosive saints offense. So what was the story there? What finally clicked that that defense showed up in the big way against the division rival? Well, the secondary showed up number one. Dante Jackson had himself a really good game as the Panthers second round pick from this year. They managed to get forced turnovers. They got they had a couple on top of the. Two point conversion return by Dante Jackson, which turned into two points for the Panthers. Front seven wasn't all that great. They still managed to get after breeze a little bit. But for the most part, it was just a it was just a herculean effort by lewke cly who had one of his best games ever. And the secondary finally playing up to what they seemed like they had the potential to be earlier in the season..

"It feels like it's been a couple years, but not that dramatically but the team had lost five straight games. Which is a very long time in the football was five or six straight games. I think it was five straight because you had Cleveland cowboy saints ravens Packers. Yeah. It was five. It was really really dramatic slide from that Washington game. Which feels like it's been a long time since we remember that. They just they early November. Yeah. It was November four. It was it was rough. And it's been some time. We've been wondering what has been going on? They have been playing terribly end Sunday. Like, you just you know, how it's gonna go you kinda hope they'll play well, and they win by a lot. They won by forty two fourteen. That's a that's a lot of points. You know, I'm not much of a math person. But I can tell you forty is bigger than fourteen a different year. The falcons scored twenty six points by the first half us conclusion paste it out in the set for the third and fourth with touchdown each tell you win held the team that was visiting scoreless in the second third quarters and Bhagat garbage time touchdown but other than that. It's basically a complete and total shutdown a probably the worst team in the NFL. Let's not call the Oakland Raiders. But evan. No, you you saw what happened. You were surveying. What was going on with these falcons? What gave them the wherewithal to be able to win this game? I mean overall it was just a good team. It's like what you want from your team. The defense finally showed up which was nice Dion Jones had a pick six and then the defense finished with seven six total. So like, I mean, that's what falcons fans have been wanting all year, actually, probably all last year two was the defensive show up. You know, you kinda take it with a grain of salt, though, not to be Debbie Downer. But it was like you said probably I I mean, you can make an argument they're probably the worst team in the NFL like even even with you know, teams like the jets in the raiders cardinals might be the worst. But you know, like, I said grain of salt with this. But this is like the formula for what you expect. You know, if the falcons defense plays like this every week in the offense where Matt Ryan was you know, basically like his twenty sixteen. Self. I believe if you look at his stats from twenty sixteen compared to this year. It's like near identical main be better this year, but he had two touchdowns. And then he had that rushing touchdown. The run game finally woke up, you know, the falcons have had probably the worst. I know statistically, it's been the worst run run game this year and then Coleman like exploded for over one hundred yards and scored, and you know, even ITO before, you know, checking out he he got tears too. So then Julio having Julio days where like you don't even remember when you know, it was a thing before it was like oh Julio isn't catching touchdowns. Now. It's like he's got them every week. It seems like so he had a Julio day even just in hardy scored. So I mean it was like a perfect game. I know like a bunch of fans wanted the falcons detained for. Believe they were in the driver's seat for the third pick in the draft if they would've lost, but you know, you end up winning. And now, I believe you're the six or seven. So you know, you're talking about maybe an elite player either way. But at the same time you kind of want that high drastic. But at the same time, you know, you gotta feel good about a win. Even if it's you know, you would have been okay if they lost. Here's my thing with my you bring up a lot of good points. I think that it's fun to think about tanking, and obviously they lose this game. And the cardinals win they're probably looking at top three pick. I hate to be the guy that breaks it down for you..

"Gentlemen. Welcome to another fine. Addition of the post game podcast. My name is Corey Woodruff. Thanks for stopping by. The falcons are terrible. Unfortunately, at seems to be the case and falcon the now is the team stands at a very unsatisfying for an eight after quite a tumultuous year with injuries poor coaching even worse play and lots of annoying losses, which piled up the team has lost four straight. And they're trying to figure out exactly what's going on. What's working what's not working? And really what in the world. They're going to do as the last four games of the year began to enter as we get into December. So I'm joined by no stranger to the show. He's a good friend of mine a wonderful person to hear from with anything falcons related and the biggest Jack Crawford fan out. There has name is Evan burchfield. He's joining us today. Evan. Thank you so much for coming on. I appreciate having me on core. Yeah. We are always happy to have been on the show, and we'll have a special little of news about Evan. When we get done the recording this one, but you know, let's just get into this Baltimore game as much as we can. You know, what what to you Evan? Did you see about this game that really kind of showed exactly where this team is right now? I mean, everything was too bad like everything offense of line. Play was bad. The falcons run game was bad. Julio Jones was bad. Maybe not all his fault. But I mean two receptions for eighteen yards is not normally the production. You get from Leo Jones. Mahama's new had his first ever incompletion passing completion. So that pretty much sums it up. Yeah. I think that's just kind of the difficult part of where we are. Right now is that this team is an very languished place. They've just not exactly the naval to overcome lot of these injuries. And they've really kind of compiled down with really poor defensive play. And the offense really was good for half a season. And then in the month of November. They kinda began to taper out a little bit too that Washington game. And they've really just not been great. Honestly, the last couple of games, and it's been really kind of disconcerting to see them. Take such a sizable step back offensively under such a promising stretched there in September October in into that Washington game. But you know, I think right now, this is just a team that doesn't really have a spark. They don't really have just any sort of momentum going for them. And when you're working with little momentum. You're going to have little success..

"Five oh podcast has a Twitter account. But make sure you're following RJ Joa in Tony Casillas to great guys doing a lot of work as long as Michael size more time rile all the guys applauding the boys. Do a great job on the good over there. So make sure you're following along. Reading or workover blogging the boys mixture, you're liking the podcast describing the podcast commenting, reviewing whatever you gotta do to make sure we keep the Stangl and do it. All right. So before we get going. Preview in this game for you guys. The Atlanta Falcons injury report looks great pretty much the only people who showed up that worked in a full fashion. Derrick Shelby limited Muhammed. Sohn? New limited. Demonte Z limited Dion Jones LTd. Bruce Carter familiar face. Limited in devante Campbell. Limited all of those guys are likely going to play the the big name. There's going to be Dion Jones. This would be his first game back after suffering that a fifth metatarsal injury that he that he had the beginning of the year, you guys expect obviously this is kind of a tour question, but you don't expect Dion Jones to be a hundred percent the old Dionne Jones that we're used to write you kinda expect him to be a little bit heavy coming out game. So maybe just a a slower lesser snap game than we're used to from seeing from Dion Jones Dalton what do you think? That injury scares me. Not scares me. Because he's playing us. The Cowboys not us like I'm not a part of the team. But I coming off of it. Yeah. I don't really worry about it too much. I mean, he how he's been out for what nine nine weeks eight weeks nine weeks, something like that. It's seems quick doesn't it? Yeah. I mean just that injury. We've seen has has been has had a lingering effect on people. So I think that they're gonna kind of take it easy with him. So I'm not real worried about you know, how he's gonna play. I don't think he's going to absolutely ball out and be that old beyond Jones that we've seen because his game is predicated upon speed and quickness, and I don't think that he's gonna be one hundred percent to be that player. Coal. Are you all worried about Dion Jones in his his production that he's gonna have on Sunday? Do you think it'll be I'm not gonna say he's going to be a liability on the field. But maybe you'll have a player you can take advantage of due to his rustiness. Yeah. He could be a player that Cowboys could scheme against in try to take advantage of. He is good player when healthy we know it he can do. And he's one hundred percent, but yeah, coming off an injure this week and everything if you're playing the falcons in a later day didn't meet every story, but this week I wouldn't be too concerned over him. But I don't think he's a player you can just rule out of making a player to in a game. And I know they're all in limited fashion, but you can look at the linebackers for the falcons Campbell who's a starter. Jones who would be a starter if he hadn't missed most of the year due to the injury. And then like I said the familiar face Bruce Carter has played a somewhat of a role for them this year. All three of those guys are limited. So they're pretty banged up at linebacker in. They don't defend the run good to begin with. So that should boat right into what the Cowboys wanna do on offense. And that's run the football. You would think. So at least again, it depends on how they block it. It depends on how they scheme it. But you know, a team being not saying being without three of their best linebackers, but then being banked up that is a good sign for the running game. What they can do all the ground. But let's move on from this injury report. Let's talk about what's important. And that's how the Cowboys match up with the falcons again both of these teams coming in or. No, still guess you could say they're still technically individuals even though the falcons probably hurt of due to the saints being as good as they are. But both teams are still in the thick of things..

"And like, look I'd the big as a basket, and I think for him, especially with the with the kicker you have to be able to you have to have the confidence where you're not grind. And you're thinking about as much because once you start doing that then it because two much two months, psychological. And then you're gonna do you doubt yourself. And then also you have to do different things, if you you don't really have a lot of confidence in your in your kicker, some things you may not do which in the long run may help because it gives you chance to make make riskier decisions, you know, you mentioned that those points could have been costly against philli. Totally. Agreed. I also applying the proper context here. I think Brett deserves a pass to a degree on the key missed in Washington. Because it was the one at the end of the game after the snap and fraction penalty in whatever. So I mean, I'm willing to look past that one the more concerning Cape that he's missed so far was against Tennessee. That was that was no win that was early. Pour. It felt like everything was great. So while again, I don't think there's any need to smash the glass and pull the lever here. I think this does bear monitoring especially in a game like this. This is going to be a very very high scoring game. In all likelihood the Cowboys you're gonna need every single point just to keep track with the falcons again, they've scored at least thirty points in four out of their five games on the road this season. The Cowboys have not broken twenty-seven points. They just scored twenty seven last week that was their season high on the road. So if this gets to be game involved in the thirties right now logic suggests that the Cowboys don't necessarily have the wherewithal to to go blow for blow with the falcons. Let's let's let's let's not beating around the Bush. Let's pick this game. You know, because I think that we we believe in the Cowboys to degree, and it's I think before we pick. I'll ask you this. What is larger your belief in the falcons or your doubt that the Cowboys can actually put it together for a second week in a row? What what emotion is driving you more. Whether it's again, man, I really liked those falcons, dude. I don't know these countless other. I'm just like everyone else. I think for me it's the belief in the Cowboys because I need to see more need to see this team. Put two wins together in a row. And we haven't seen that we got we started with one. And and I guess the second point and probably why pick my bo- prediction was that Prescott have more passing touchdowns. And Matt Ryan because if he does get in the thirties and thirty fives that means this offense is going to have to push the. You know, put put the pedal and really accelerate on the offense aside the ball. And so to me that's kind of what I'm really am. I may concern is if you get into a shootout because that's what that's what the Val comes to. But I think more more AM real apprehensive. Because I doubt that I haven't Dallas not that. I have now I think they can I think they can do it will they do it. I don't know because we're lack of Vetter. Thanks. Thanks breakdown. There's things that they don't duplicate or they don't play up to that type of level. You know, things may go bad, and they changed their whole philosophy. There has really hasn't been a body of work consistency. So that's where my doubt is for is more. What else may do may not do? I agree. I I doubt the Cowboys more than I believe in the falcons. I don't know that the falcons are a good team right now in the National Football League. But I think they might be good enough team to beat the Cowboys because the Cowboys sometimes play down in situations like this. So it is time to pick. Why what everybody's calling?.

"So it really feels like this was the right kind of signing. Eric, I know you, and I had gone back and forth little bit about you know, who the falcons should assigned you'd earlier in the year. We were hoping they would sign some defensive help on the back end, maybe a safety or two or linebacker. Do you feel like now in hindsight that getting urban really without having to give up any picks just picking him up as a free agent, you feel that was a best case scenario for this team. Absolutely. We know that draft capital is a premium two two guys like Thomas Mitchell, Dan Quinn. So the option was on the table because rumors have rooms were Sperling couple of weeks ago that you know, the the raiders wanted to part with urban and get draft picks in exchange. So I me personally, I would not have minded giving giving Oakland of six round pick for urban simply because I didn't think they were actually gonna cut them. I think that that caught me that release comprise mill little bit known that they were gonna cut him at this point of the season. So once he was current. I mean, this is this is a prime example while why you can't dispel a player wanting to come home under favorable circumstances. You have more money in in New England more money pits. Herb it more money in Francisco, but he wanted to come home in wanted to play for hometown and to intake price cuts. So I know. Oh player all about the money. But we when we know situations like this circumstances like this. We can't really just brush it under the table and think of players go for the greenback's everyday. Gene, it on that note. You know, you've mentioned that he took less money to be here. How much of a factor? Do you think? The Dan Quinn was in urban wanting to be in Atlanta. I think it was just kind of perfect storm of things. I mean, Atlanta is home for him. He does have a great relationship with Quinn. And again, like, I think that you know, we've talked at nauseam about all the intangible things that I think makes them Quanta great coach and has built this into a release spectacular culture that players want to be a part of. And then also he comes in knowing the scheme, so he can really hit the ground running in this first week. I think that those are all really motivating factors. I think also if you look objectively at Atlanta's pass rushing Eric mentioned this by here, he has a potential to come in here and really be a star like really be a Sar because Vic I think he is still asleep. Somebody might want to check on them because it's been like since two thousand sixteen he's. On on there. But probably not good. I don't think you're I think you're supposed to wake up occasionally between now and then. No, you know, if you if you think about him on the field tack I think that could be a relief for medical situation or or toback. So I think that that's probably a draw to you know, I think that he knows he has tension come here and be sort of the linchpin in a defensive turnaround and manifest Dombak. Just I I mean, I don't even know what say about it. I'm so excited about it. And that's really the other exciting news. We got this week was Dion Jones has started practicing, which means he would be eligible to come back as soon as next week's game the game at home against the Dallas Cowboys, obviously, I think the falcons are gonna take their time easing him back in in Gina think we did find out that it was a broken foot. Right. That was the. Okay. So that actually I think is good news because breaks are usually pretty clean healing pattern that you can check on and not really run any risks as opposed to ligament damage or anything of that sort. So again as long as you have bone growth and everything I mean, a foot brake said he'll pretty easily as long as it's not too severe. We were worried that it was her toe, and it was turf toe that if it was her toe that was serious enough to require surgery that was going to be a totally different situation..

"So let's go ahead and move on and talk about some of the big news of this week heading into the game against the Browns, which will talk about and just a little bit. And that is the surprise or maybe not surprised. Signing of Bruce Irvin to the falcons roster on the one year contract a little bit confusing. People saw that he got a three point two million dollar deal that it's it's a three point two million salary. He will actually only be paid about one point five million by the falcons this year that will be his cap hit since he's only gonna be able to play eight games in the falcons uniform. But Eric I'm going to start with you first. You actually did a write up this week at the falcons dot com about Bruce Irvin. How he fits in this defense? A bit about how important do you think this signing is doesn't move the needle for this defense? Whether overall thoughts on getting urban in red and black. I I think is absolutely moves the needle for the defense. You know, it gives them that veteran closer closer at pass rusher. An s something that they really been lacking for or allow now, you know, they got tech McKinley who had a good start to the season. The last couple of games. He's been kinda quiet in the, you know, outside of gray Jared in jet Crawford getting pressure on the interior is really been nothing to write home about about the pass rushing department for the falcons, and of course, big Beasley is still taking a nap. For the past season in half. So bring him Bruce urban in my opinion, gives a team of veteran as Russia who has speed and who can play to Leo in mixed things up a little bit. I mean, there's a potential to have a very quick and fierce pass rushing combination on the field, especially third downs with tack in urban in Grady, Jared Jack Crawford solicited. Dan quinn. Does with this. I think he likes to have. He likes her have possibilities in. He likes the versatility at every level in defense and bringing in urban provides net. Yeah. Ginny. Your thoughts on urban being a falcon now. While you know, usually if I want the falcons ran a player, they're like LL now. And so this was one of those cases where I was like, hey, it would be just amazing. They picked up reserve in its position of need if he clears waivers. Maybe they'll be able to come for cheap because he has an existing relationship Quinn. I didn't think it was going to happen. And you know, I just thought that he would want more money than the falcons would be able to pay not even willing to pay able to pay and it turned out that he turned on more money or to come here. And that's pretty amazing. I think that speaks really wonderful things about what Dan Quinn has built in Atlanta. And I'm thrilled about it. I mean, he really could be the difference between this team being contender down the stretch. And not. And so I'm thrilled about it yet. And I think if you look at the next few games coming up falcons fans who had written off the season. I self included when they were sitting at one and four. They're four four they're going up to Cleveland, which looks like a very winnable game. Again, we'll talk about that in just a little bit. They come home to face the Cowboys. And then they go on the road against New Orleans, which is obviously one of the hottest teams in the NFC right now reasonably I don't think it's a stretch to say that the falcons could be six and four going into New Orleans and others a significantly better position to be in. So someone like Irvine could be the difference between. Shutting down, you know, drive for a team like New Orleans or a team like the Cowboys it before, you know, they're able to turn that into one of those long extended drives that's really sort of define the defense this year..
