"Up your sleeves special and if you needed extra motivation to get vaccinated, they're hoping that former President Barack Obama appearing alongside President Joe Biden, and they say that Dr Anthony Fauci and Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal and Dr Vin Gupta, Faith Hill, Jennifer Hudson, Billy Crystal, and more will be able to I don't know While you into getting the vaccine, the roll up your sleeves special is presented by Walgreens. It was created by attention in partnership with civic nations made to save initiative. And yes, the idea here is to use the power of celebrity to help Americans get over their vaccine, hesitancy and getting the covert 19 vaccine so that we can quote return to our normal lives. Kate on their return to normal life versus my return to a normal life for a while, glee different because I'm pretty sure their lives haven't changed much during the pandemic. That's just me. Do you remember when all these celebrities were doing their quarantine photos and they were doing the course is about the end of their infinity pool, right? Or are, you know, looking out on their state, you know, over over from whatever homes That's everything, and they got totally slammed for it. These people are so out of touch. These are the people. I'm supposed to take medical advice from really. Now listen. Shaquille O'Neal, Charles Barkley, get it Nice people find Faith Hill. Lovely woman. I'm not necessarily going to go toe any of those people if I have a medical question. I'm not going to talk to any of them about the efficacy of the different three vaccines and which ones they think I should get. It's not not even in the top 10 list of people that I'm gonna hit. Why would I watch this on TV? I have no idea who the audience for this is because you know, the list of celebrities are exactly who you would expect. Lin Manuel Miranda committeeman, Johnny, You know Demi Lovato. Joel McHale, King's young Kim Jeong Joe Jonas. I mean, these guys just say First of all, they're not medical experts, but, you know, secondly Is this really the group that is going to appeal to those who are hesitant to get the vaccine? A bunch of, you know, good lefties. I don't I just don't see it and this to me. Is like the It's the worst of these celebrity P s days where they all get together and they start, you know, solemnly intoning in repeating words repeating words into the camera into the camera. This is like an hour long version of that, and I'm all in favor of folks getting the vaccine. But I am absolutely not in favor of watching this on Sunday. I will. I will be doing something else besides tuning it. It tune into NBC. Yeah, Yeah, We know what's interesting. Nobody watches. These people give themselves awards, right? Right. So, so why would anybody watch them give you medical advice like Dr Phil isn't even the mix. He's not that type of doctor, but he's just not even in the mix. So I don't know. I think this is gonna be laughable. There are people who are going to tune in, and I'm willing to bet they're gonna be fewer people tune into this thing to turn into these self congratulatory award shows. I think you're right. Although listen and speaking of medical doctors of Jane Seymour is going to be taking part of this or Dr Quinn, Medicine woman will be giving out. Would you remember Jen Psaki? Just very quick had 11 here. Look, remember this. This is this is how in touch they are with with the audience and who they think needs to get the vaccine. We're also looking for we friend P. Ece is on the deadliest catch. We're engaged with NASCAR and country music TV. So if that's the audience they're shooting for, If that's what they think the right is that list of celebrities you read off. They're totally missing the mark. There's not a single cast member of the deadliest catch is going to be on this special in it on NBC, where you go and listen coming up at 8 35. Dr Mortimer Kerry will be with us were to talk to an actual doctor. About the vaccine that's probably more important and more listen worthy. What we were.

"And creative in in a group of people you cannot. You can't really be creative without being vulnerable so you have to be like guys. I know this susan it but is there a way. Should we discussed the fact that maybe this should happen. And at the end of the day. Maybe it isn't that at all but main discussion start you know and And then so. I think those two things to you know that where i sit in my family and all that time by myself as a writer. Help me in the room in that way. What is it like playing with magic everyday. 'cause to me that's a songwriting. Has it's just literally trying to harness magic. What is that like. You're like a wizard grasping at your gathering at your like like literally like turning something out of thin air. No i mean. I i literally have so many well without this being On zoom so much. now. I've been writing every day which i never ever ever have done I've sort of been taking the weekends off but writing almost every day and at the beginning of all. This didn't really like it. Because i'm not in everyday writer but now i'm sort of it's like you know like I was going to compare it to working out. But i know nothing about where to stop myself right there but there is some sort of muscle you know to it and And i think that the zoom writing which is difficult sometimes but also awesome. Sometimes what. I had to decide early on and i've talked to many of my friends about this. That we're just zoom writing all the time now that there's going to be days with people you write your best friends that you right with that. You just can't get a song that day like in. This is true of just being alone as a writer like there's days were i walk around the house and i'll check every guitar. I'll take the piano. I can barely play it like there. Just isn't a song in the cards for me that day And you can't beat yourself up about that some days. It's just not gonna come and then other days you're going to be making dinner and you have to put everything down and be like sorry. Somebody else has to do this. I have to go you know. I'll have to try to pick this for a minute like it. Just i think that that when the inspiration or the creativity or would the music whatever you wanna call it. Lands on you. You're not gonna you're gonna miss it sometimes because because of life because you're human and you have to have all these other things but on the days when that hits you and you're available and you can move things around and make it happen like the. That's when all the magic happens. You know what. I mean because you were lucky enough to be able to sit in the moment as you said and and and and be there for it as much as i love. I love the way you put it. It's like it's its own being really like this song is its own little life or yourself to catch it. Yeah i mean. I've had songs where i just can't get it. I just cannot I think years ago would beat myself up about it or written it. Get it over like just to get it off my chest. And now as i get older i realized it's just not ready. I'm not ready for it yet. You know. I'm sure you've written songs. Will you go back later on and listen to it like the jevon time and you'll go back later and you're like wow. I didn't even feel that yet. But feel it now. But i didn't even know what i was writing about. I didn't even have that experience really yet. And now i understand what. I like what. I was trying to tell myself what the song was trying to tell me. I mean to be like all weird about like songs or these. L i agree. There's that little piece of all that in it. So what was it like when you got scooped up by faith hill and then all of a sudden you're going to play the oprah winfrey show with her next year light on seoul tour with tim and faith like what does that. Feel like going from just writing songs for yourself making albums for yourself to now. You're on this big scale. Like how do you. How do you comprehend that You know especially looking back on it now. It was really. I was really really lucky. That i sort of I had the people around me. That sort of Made sure that none of it went to my head which probably wouldn't have any way to be honest At that point we had five. We had the all five of the kids in. Somebody's always you know. Like i always used to say like they just kids just wanna know. What's for dinner. They just wanna know when you're coming home and what's for dinner like your kids. You cannot impress your children. No matter what like i china. There's been very few moments. Where i've actually one my children over with my music. It's not it's just not they're never going to see me that way but they see me exactly as they should. I think you know as their mom but I think that's a huge. That's a huge. Like just grounding factor. That that i always had was You know the the most important because they know me as myself. And i know that in my job is to know them as they are in It really would you know balance. I get out of balance. Sometimes i get you know how lean too much in one direction or another sometimes but i never really leaned too much in the family direction. You know like you can't ever really say like oh. I took care of my family too much does it. Nobody really ever since that. Nobody's gonna ever really look back. It'd be like so. I've been really lucky because as an artist and putting out records as i do. I'm on i'm on a scale. Where touring would still be Really like.

Yeah, and the Fi-, my neighbor across the street Patty John She's an amazing Cook Oh. My God and you guys say remember you saying in her living room yeah. Yes, yeah like. She, made us meet all's or something and she's an She's unbelievable. We have great neighbors. We're so lucky on the street like we. We Orissa lucky in this neighborhood, but we have great neighbors and John's a firefighter, and I still have pictures of you guys sitting on the fire truck. That yes. I mean you know what I really love about like and I think you do such amazing job of putting this into songs and I think that's why people are so obsessed with your words and your music. I love how life just its evolution this full circle in. It's like like with that was what ten years ago then that you imagine to see how I've evolved and how we're all different places, but it's just like this thread that runs through. I don't even know how to describe it like. How do I capture these feelings that you feel alive, but you capture moments in put them into songs. I think that's what makes you so amazing like you capture like little tiny moments. Make them these big feelings. I think that's why we all like country music. Though you know what I mean and like those lyrics and songs, we love like that are just like you can see yourself in them or your neighbor in the or you're. You're mean your sister in them and I think that's why like I think we I think most people identify like when they can identify with the song. or the genre they find their place in it. Somehow that's That's one thing that always drew me in. Is that those furniture? Those pieces you know those tales or you like? Oh, yeah I. Know that what that looks like, and then you see yourself there. but those are always my favorite. And we live. We live extraordinary lives. All of us do every single person and we are live among like amazing people. Is just that nobody you know. Maybe nobody's GonNa make a movie. Write a book about Patty and John But their kids were like you know what I mean like to to their people to me, she is I've known Patterson's high school like she's A. She's an amazing woman like flat out amazing women and so i. that's what I love about country music. You, don't Michael is obsessed with your song witness to your life. Is that song all the time might he's obsessed with you general like that song he just thinks is the most beautiful song, and it's basically talking about how you will be the witness to, or is it to your kids and your husband? I don't know who exactly you yeah, it's. It's like a wedding song. A little bit of a wedding song at in that like I'll be yeah I'm here for you like I'll. You will exist. Because I'll be watching making it, so which is what we do for one another anyway. So talks me a little bit about your incredible start as the to Nov, you've always had the talent, but you got discovered in a big way like quickly. You're writing performing in Boston. Banana you were just discovered fast and. Dollars it the. Shock little about that. Well, I think it was It was it doesn't seem as like the fastness. Oh was my introduction Nashville really because it was I was probably on. I made a record called bitter town which I. Don't know what number that was, but it was probably my fourth. Maybe Fifth Record! Here in Boston and at that point you know my big kids were super little and I'm touring as always not been really that easy. What's not an easy for anybody touring? But it's really just GonNa, be really difficult. was was a bunch of little kids when I made bitter town David was born. My son David was born like two weeks later while or days later so I came out so. Sixteen years old now. But went that record. A friend Mary. Gauchet gave it to a publisher. Melanie Howard in Nashville and I had been to national. One time played the Bluebird one time. And I like five years earlier and had likes just set in my bones national. Do like I just loved it. My husband loved it. We like we have to go back there to figure out how to get back to Nashville like no idea how to like. How even got the show I got like I was a writers round and I. Don't know how I even landed that to be honest like somebody must. Call in sick or the I'm not sure how that will happen, but but. I put up bitter town. Mary gave it to Melanie. Howard Melanie gave it to Missy Gallimore and Missy Gallimore Find Songs for details, so faith ended up with the song, so that record came out in May two thousand four. And by Thanksgiving of the year. Like three three or four songs that record, and then her record firefly's came out. The following year and the thanks, so it was just like his whole like chasing. The finished her album like she redid her album to put your songs on it. Yeah I, think they were. There was like this magical point where they had like definitively decided. That record would have been. You know what I mean and I was like enough time that they could go back in and I remember getting a phone call like on Thanksgiving like thank God, the songs, and I was like what like none of this, I only been there like by that point like maybe one other I'm and my husband's like this publisher calling you and telling you what like I? Don't know about this like none of this. Like it's a possibility. But it wasn't until, so yes of my action national was really fast, and it was like my top of the top. In yes, thank. You couldn't have asked for on so many levels I could not have asked for. A better artists to to like my music because. Just like on every level possible, but the way she the way that faith cut the songs in the in how true she was to to to meet like she just like I think we just have something in common along the lines of like. Being a woman, and being like just person in the world and being a mom, and in those things that she sarin me and But just like every everything after that has been just. A surreal one surreal moment after another, and then of course like it's funny. 'cause now it's like so many years later and and I talked to like classes like like I had a zoom meeting the songwriting classical weeks ago and I'm like well. I'M NOT GONNA..

"Faith Hill. I mean like we talked about how Chanel looked for the first divas like she made her hair really big and she wanted to look like a diva faith hill. Looks like she's hanging her basement. Yeah Yeah she looked us. She looks like she's at a bar. She looks like she's at a bar she does not. Her hair is flat and just half half. I love that you guys were so dismayed by her appearance to you. Guys were like not a diva true. Something that normally. I'm not paying attention to but like she's wearing a tank top gene. She's a tank top and bedazzled. Gee there's a little bit of it is just a plain black tank top to be fair. She is wearing heels. That are maybe two feet. Tall very often told her jeans. No they were Sheen's they were like satin pants but still there were bedazzle. They definitely had belt loops and a zipper. Here you're not look. They're not denim. Look to look casual absolutely but they had a wide. Almost layer like they went. They flared down so cut. Yeah that's what a boot cut is. No 'cause they're all they were almost bell-bottom me then that's a flare cut. Said I literally said flare wrong but I don't think so we did find out though that brandy at the time. Had a cover of this song. Would you that salt no idea? You mean to tell me there were some missteps and brandies career well and also you mean to tell me they believe so that we could hear this droning version of everything. I do I do for you. We're actually faith L. Sounds quite good. Faith those sounded great and then he gets to sing by herself after a very weird planned report. I wish I could have recorded my girl. Faith Song from last year. I had one choice. You could've picked one song to recorded that I didn't record. It would have been the song that you recorded. Last goes which one and Brennan goes your head and then she goes you know and then brandy sings a little bit of it. She goes this kid like she sees it a little bit. And then faith housing's the whole thing.

"That's my Taylor was like 'cause you're so much better. You know You what? know, what you came for Taylor? Stop everyone like just villain ising Taylor. Like that song was so caddy. That's I believe militarization. They came the her first, and they voted meet song about her. Stop ready means homes Mattel show meeting. Stop writing tons about. You. So okay. So back to the pit in sorry. So some of them are just like purely personality things like the friends pins all the six characters in the corner. Johnson aria Dun, Dun Meredith, the friends pins when you think that means there's so many of them. I just think that those are the characters like I don't think it has anything to do with the album. No, okay. So what do you think? So there's one of her in Selena Gomez. And I think earn Selena Gomez are going to be doing a collaboration especially because the picture of Selena Gomez from an interview where she would was asked if she would ever collaborate with Taylor swift. So definitely that's easy done dot. There's picture faith hill would love some country, collab- collab- and faith hill posted the pin. So like, maybe there's something there. Okay. Also, there's one that says the Dixie chicks is now the second reference. There's no doubt in my mind. There's a Dixie chicks club, which only makes me so fucking excite. Because then you think there might be country on okay, but we have Sansa Arya. And then we also have to Narus and dragon. So that's more than just like a game of thrones mood. Well, actually in the entertainment, actually, no it's not in. Did you read the Entertainment Weekly? Interview bits and pieces. She said that reputation was like so heavily influenced by game of thrones. Like when she ran where I did something bad. It was when aria like did something bad like she was like a lot of the songs are like so heavily influenced by thrown to like she's talking about that in the interview so them being on the jacket doesn't make me think it's a clue, but that's but I feel like that's a reputation thing. I feel like if she's doing it again, these are just like the new era. This is the cover. No. I don't think they're all clues. That's what I'm saying. So there's another clue on there. You see the little orange one with like five Lou graffiti reading that is the background of. The delicate music video where she's like dancing through the subway in L A says truck five like on the subway track with people now she's made like the fifth track on her album like a whole thing. So this is like another nod to the delicate music video to track five the fifth, which was supposed includes the fifth clue she posted. It was one of the fence, which which I drew people like drove people insane because it was so confusing and like we never got any clarification on what it actually meant. So track five is like this ominous sort of moment for Taylor swift. But here's where on, but there's also Mr. Rogers announcing there's actually two didn't areas and dragon. There's this picture of and dragons, and then there's denarius dragon above her. That's a lot of symbolism. It is for just a vibe and Drake is on there too. So the Drake one is one that I find most interesting. Okay. Because now I'm firmly believe of a theory that I read on. Tumbler that this is a double album because Drake just won all these awards for his double album..

I like it. And that you sit with another guest, and it's fun because you interact together. It was great again same thing. How can we how can we just stand out in some way in the massive shows that are on in the middle of the night? Jeremy why didn't why do we pick that picture to show of me? Why why is great? Yeah. Well, clearly, I'm doing a fish thing. But I don't know why. Well, I can't remember. But you were terrific guests. We really felt like and I mean this. I don't mean this in any way. Sycophantically? I think they either find his bible or his this book that he had was stuff in it, and there was like a bag luggage ticket from Hanoi Vietnam, you know, in a Braves ticket from the sixties and it was just this amazing. Song and one of my favorite songs that he actually made it the title track on one of his records day in country music. Have you ever heard the original version of that song from the writers? No, I haven't. Oh my God. That's the thing about Nashville that that trip out on man. These song writers are also talented vocally to a hundred percent, but but they're all making so much money. Not all of them. I shouldn't say a lot of them are mean people forget Sugarland was originally a trio not do, oh, and one of the members of Sugarland was like, wait, I'm make the money. I'm making his for the songs I can stay home and not to, or I mean, and Jeffrey Steele is a great example of like, I don't know if you've ever heard go platinum and steel is a record. He put out years ago and it's a bunch of his golden platinum songs sung by him. And when you hear him sing, when the lights go down, which is a faith hill song, but you hear him singing like that. Just that just took my soul toward out of my my heart and just stopped all over, and it was so stinking good like different when the person that wrote it when it's coming from that soul and you hear them, sing it. There's another level there and these vocalists like me, faith Hill's a goddess, right? But when you hear the person that was so moved to create that excellence the seminar, that excellence, it's. A wonderful thing and you can't fake that personal connection, right? Can't is an artist, and I think that's where a lot of artists go wrong. Frankly, artists sometimes get into a stent, a process where they're chasing hits in country music, and you just gotta sing. What's real like Chris Stapleton is a great example of somebody that doesn't give a damn radio is gonna play it or not. He's gonna sing what's real and you feel it when he sings it, right? You know, that's, that's. That's the key, especially when you think about right now, we're country music is, and there's a sort of counterculture movement of guys like Stapleton, Casey, musk, graves, and even mayor Morris, who's having a ton of commercial success. But they're still artists that are so stinking real to who they are. It works and that's what you have to do, especially if you're going sing somebody else's stuff, but you have to be patient because Chris, Chris couldn't cut his own songs for ten years. Everybody else did. And you know, when people when when people that are monster, Stapleton fans now realize all the stuff that he wrote. You know years ago before he really made it. As an artist and was just writing. They go, holy pay rota. I know you had Phil of Asir on on with you first road gig. The I I wrote, I guy that ever paid me to play for was Phil Vassar and to this day, not only the kindest, but most talented person I've ever toured with Vassar really hands down. You know, it's funny the couple of quick things and I'll get all related to what you were just talking about. But one remember the first show every time up to then I'd been in bands where you had to like load your stuff and set your stuff up and all this stuff. When I joined Phillies just had a number one, you know, the bus bold in and I woke up and the the market board on the bus said, you know, load in at nine and it was like nine thirty and I'm like, oh my God, I day I'm never going to get this gig late. Come running off the bus in his stage managers. Like, what? What are you doing? And I'm like, I'm sorry. I'm late load my stuff and he's like, no, no, no, no man. Like other people like you're on a big two or now somebody load and and it's not like they do. You know your. I'm used to set my own speakers at that point..
