"And off duty Fairfax County police officers off the job after he was arrested for driving under the influence. Police officers say officer Justin Faison was involved in a two vehicle crash on Route 50 in seven corners last night. Seven people the other from vehicle involved treated for injuries at a nearby hospital. Faison who joined Fairfax County Police just last is year on administrative leave and faces an internal affairs investigation. A DC jail inmate who was allegedly stabbed in the head by another inmate has died. Seven news reports that 34 year old Darryl Johnson of Clinton Maryland was hospitalized Thursday after being found stabbed in the head and stabbed in a physical therapy room at the jail. He died yesterday in an area hospital. 30 year old Say Razzini of Southeast DC was arrested Thursday night initially charged with assault with intent to kill. DC police detectives will ask the US attorney's office to upgrade those charges. It's 10 -04 officials and residents in Prince George's County hope that a new inspector general can help with its often troubled police department. I have the ability to go into the department to look at things, to look at systems, use of force policies. New Inspector General Anthony Bennett speaking NBC4. Are they working the way that they need to? The past few years the county has settled a lawsuit brought by officers over racial discrimination. Another officer was convicted of assault after choking a handcuffed teenager. If we find that those officers that aren't doing what they need to do according to the policies and few years. Three teenagers in Northern Virginia are facing some very serious charges. This after they are accused of stealing golf carts at gunpoint. WTOP's Liz Anderson with more. Officers responded to Hidden Creek Country Club in Reston last Wednesday after an employee approached and got into an argument with a group of teens who were suspected of stealing golf carts in the past. Fairfax County Police say one of the teens showed a gun that same evening around 8 p .m. Officers responded They took that to golf that course again for a robbery. A group of teens stole and crashed a golf cart. Then the group took a different cart from some golfers at gunpoint and drove away. Investigators identified 18 year old Dionne L 'Wangrage of Lynchburg and charged him having with a gun with an altered serial number. A 16 year old is facing robbery gun and drug charges while a 14 year old charged is with robbery and underage possession of a gun. Some mosquitoes have also tested positive for West Nile virus. Now health officials want you to what know you can do to help protect yourself. It's peak season for mosquito borne illnesses and it'll stay that way through fall. the That's according to the latest put out by the Prince George's County Health Department. The focus now is on reminding residents take to steps that will reduce the risk of bites and mosquito breeding sites. Be sure to protect yourself by wearing sleep long shirts, pants and socks. Health officials say any exposed skin should be sprayed with mosquito repellent that contains deet and don't forget to remove any standing water like garbage can lids or wheelbarrows. Those can be hot spots for breeding. As for any containers that can't be emptied, your best bet is to spray them regularly with insecticides that target mosquito larva. Melissa Howell, WTOP News. In Tyson's westbound route 7 at Westwood Center the crash was blocking the right side of the roadway may have cleared by now. Heading over to Arlington westbound 66 at Sycamore Street. We've got the work zone set up in the left lanes. The right side will get you by with delay you're looking at at least a mile back up however once you're beyond the activity the pace does improve. Now on the Capitol Beltway the inner loop on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge in the through lanes we've got the work zone set up there blocking all through lanes so that means northbound lanes crossing the Woodrow Wilson Bridge are blocked with the work zone however no delays to speak of at this moment as you've got the traditional lanes to get you by. Heading over into Maryland on the inner loop between Georgia Avenue and Colesville Road we've got two left lanes blocked with the work. I don't know how this is going to shake but out, I do know that the UAW is aware that a higher percentage of its workers support Trump than they ever thought before. Court Rules Thomas Jefferson H.S. Admissions Does Not Discrminate
"A panel of federal appellate judges ruled today That the admissions process of Thomas Jefferson high school for science and technology a prestigious magnet program in fairfax county Virginia Does not discriminate against Asian American applicants The Washington Post reports as argued by a group of parents opposing the admissions changes The ongoing legal battle between the coalition for TJ and the fairfax county school board is over the admissions process which was revised in 2020 school officials said to bring more diversity to the school Locally known as TJ and often ranked as the best high school in the country On Tuesday the U.S. Court of Appeals for the fourth circuit reversed a lower court's decision that the admissions system was an illegal act of racial balancing That's right U.S. district judge Claude Hilton sided with parents last year and concluded that quote the purpose of the board's admissions overhaul was to change the racial makeup to TJ to the detriment of Asian Americans Let me pause here and point out something else One of the ironies of their changing of the system was that more white students were admitted to Thomas Jefferson to TJ after the admissions change The left was gunning for Asian students so much so that yes black admissions did go up but so did white admissions There are more white students now at TJ at Thomas Jefferson school for science and technology than there were before the left medal with the emissions process That's been the effect of this As they try and meddle with the color of the skin of the people who go there rather than assess their merits So the U.S. Court of Appeals for the fourth circuit reverses the lower court's decision

"That I am right nearby the scene of now breaking news this afternoon Which is out of fairfax county Virginia The Thomas Jefferson high school for science and technology has been considered the single best high school in the country It's a unique school It's a public school but for years it's at a very difficult merit based admissions process so that only the absolute best and brightest students could get into it they would then be able to study together with people of similar capabilities similar achievement learning from talented teachers in order to then move on in life to higher education and very successful careers It's a place for very gifted students And so as you might expect it's difficult to get into When you have an admissions process that requires assessing the merit of each of these students But like so many other things the left has tried to get involved and destroy it Merit based things must be destroyed And in its place must be put something called equity Now equity on his face is a nice little euphemism that sounds like it is designed to advance equality but by now you know that that's not the case Equity is racial prejudice dressed up as virtue It is racial prejudice dressed up as virtue So what did the left identify about Thomas Jefferson's high school for science and technology that they didn't like Too many Asians Too many Asian families too many Asian students and that needs to be ended And they weren't shy about this

And joining us live the CEO of the national fallen firefighters foundation, Ron sarnaki, he's a former chief of the prince George's county fire department. Thanks for joining us, Ron. Thanks for having me on the show today. I'd love to talk a little bit about what the foundation is doing and recognize these fallen heroes. And close to 80 firefighters died on the job last year, you are honoring them and dozens of others this weekend. Tell us what you have planned. So the national fallen firefighters foundation hosts the memorial service each year to honor the fallen firefighters who died in line of duty from the previous year. And years before that, once they finally been determined to be aligned to duty. So the total number of firefighters to be recognized on Sunday is a 144. From all across the country. We've invited your families to come to emmetsburg. That is the location of the fallen firefighters memorial. And what Marilyn is just about 15 minutes south of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, on route 15, just one with a Frederick. And those family members will be here to take part in a series of weekend long activities to honor their loved one and to help them rebuild their lives. Ron, you started this foundation after 9 11. Fairfax county officers responded to a report of a theft in the mall last night and chased a suspect into a wooded area nearby. Police chief Kevin Davis says two officers then opened fire.
