"We made it to Friday. It is a really nice day. Looking forward to a nice weekend in Kentucky. Anna, we're getting close to Thanksgiving in the holiday season. And there's a lot of reason for optimism today, right? It's just it's kind of a feel good Friday today with lots of good things going on. There is a really sad note, though, and Suzanne mentioned it on our newscast. And that is that Paul Horning the Louisville Legend, The Golden Boy as he was called, and he was called the Golden Boy for a reason. Paul Horning passed away this morning at the age of 84. We'll talk more about that, as the day goes on. Andrew Dim, barred from ABC Radio News is here and he is here to what to talk about what's going on in the nation's capital and, er, I appreciate you joining us today, thanks very much for River for breaking loose for a couple of minutes to talk about. Nancy Pelosi is saying she's optimistic that we still could get some sort of covert relief deal done by the end of the year. What's the story? Yeah, I mean it. It's certainly possible. She has been saying that she's optimistic, as have Republicans as well over the last couple of weeks and really over the last few months, maybe even ahead return. Really with this latest stimulus measure, but it's been stalked. It has been stalled. And, you know, the interesting thing is, if we don't get it done by the end of the year, then you're looking ahead. Obviously. 2021 where President elect Joe Biden will be living in the White House. Could that potentially change or or shift? Who knows? But President elect Joe Biden is continuing to prioritize the pandemic is what he says His incoming chief of staff is promising to appoint a covert coordinator, for example, But yes, there is Still hope at least that's what we are hearing from the hill that a deal can get done before the end of the year. But we've been hearing that before. Well, the White House is pretty much said they're going to leave this up to Congress. So what Senator McConnell saying at this point Senator McConnell has been saying all along and as well as other Republicans at the price tag seems to be too high here, and this is where Republicans and Democrats have gone back and forth. I will say that Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin has been meeting with those Democratic leadership across the aisle from Chuck Schumer to Nancy Pelosi. So the negotiations Have been going on. They have been stalled and there has been a little bit more give and take over these last couple of weeks. But yet lawmakers from both sides the aisle are starting to feel Momenta, um, that this deal could get done. It's a matter of when and I just want to say personally that I've also heard this this sort of rhetoric before when it comes to this. Stimulus package. So you know I'm not left holding my breath. So with the details that the Secret Service has had to perform with the president and the rallies, and all that goes with that there are about 130 Secret Service members affected who are either in quarantine or have had covert. Am I right about that? I'm not sure what the number is off the top of my head. But, yes, we're hearing more and more coded outbreaks. There's a newly elected senator. I believe from Ohio who also just tested positive. For the virus. And look, this is this is what has been happening in this country. We have been seeing hospitalizations rise once again in some parts of the country to the same level that they were back in March. And this is what health experts have long warned that there could potentially be you know this quote unquote second wave, especially as we start to head into flu season as well. I know that that has been a concern from many of the infectious disease specialist that we have spoken to Would you? No, it's not uncommon to see Pockets of outbreaks, especially since the curb has not really been slowing the way that which health officials would like it, too. Right, And we've certainly had some of those outbreaks in the White House. There's no doubt about that one other thing here, Andrew Before I let you go, the president's press secretary, it said, Yeah, the president will be at his The president will be at the inauguration on January 20th. She's said she expected to be his inauguration. Um, looks like though, with with more projections in in a couple of the last states to report looks like President elect by this going to finish with 306 electoral votes. Look, you know, the bulk of ABC reporting over these last few days, especially had, you know has indicated that President Trump despite this rhetoric does, in fact, the sort of the writing on the walls if you will, it is starting to accept perhaps the reality that he is a a one term president. However, that said he is still fighting and still Dragging this out. I also want to know that you know, it's it's been, I think, over a week since the president addressed the media directly, which, in my experience has been an unusual long for the president. His press secretary, has said that again that he's waiting for legal challenges in the election to play out, and he didn't speak, though exclusively with the Washington Examiner. I believe this morning or at least was published this morning. Claiming that he will win states that Biden has already has already won. So again, this could easily this process here could quite easily take another month. But those behind the scenes by and large are reporting is indicated in the in the Trump team that they they don't see a viable path. Is changing the outcome of this election. And as far as we know, it will be a president elect Joe Biden 2021 in the White House. Well, there are reports out there that the president is forming this new political action committee that the president is looking at the possibility of a media company. That doesn't sound to me like a guy who thinks he's going to do another four years in the White House, But we will see what happens here. Andrew didn't part of ABC Radio News. Thank you so much, Andrew. I appreciate you spending a few minutes with us today, bringing us up to speed on what's going on in the nation's capital. With the story regarding Nancy Pelosi and covert relief. I don't know if that's gonna happen or not. It's like Andrew said. We've been hearing this. We would hear this song many times from both Democrats and Republicans. Apparently, the White House is kind of out of this now, leaving it up to Senator McConnell and Speaker Pelosi. So we'll see if that happens and then more election news which will keep covered. We will keep you covered up. Keep you covered on that throughout the day here at news radio, 8 40 W.
